- 1:27Speaker 2: your host, Bo Bounds and the show is brought to
- 1:30Speaker 2: you by the Mississippi State University, Bagley College of Engineering,
- 1:37Speaker 2: and uh, the Space Cowboys win another national championship against
- 1:41Speaker 2: one hundred and forty teams in Texas, which is absolutely incredible.
- 1:46Speaker 2: All they do is win. Their alums win. They win
- 1:49Speaker 2: in life, they get great jobs. And as you're planning
- 1:52Speaker 2: your campus visits this fall Bagley dot ms State dot edu,
- 1:58Speaker 2: we're gonna welcome in Maggie de Lauter Space Cowboys Project.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Oh we don't have it eight fifteen. Yeah, you gave
- 2:06Speaker 2: me the thumbs up. That's okay. I got something else
- 2:10Speaker 2: I want to get into. We will have Maggie de
- 2:12Speaker 2: Lauter on Space Cowboys Project Manager at eight fifteen on
- 2:17Speaker 2: the Farm Bureau Insurance guest line. We're looking forward to that.
- 2:22Speaker 2: They just won a national championship for the Bagley College
- 2:24Speaker 2: of Engineering on the campus of Mississippi State University. Not surprising,
- 2:29Speaker 2: Space Cowboys. That's not the first time. One and forty teams. Unbelievable.
- 2:34Speaker 2: All right, we'll switch gears, Jay straight front Bo bounds
- 2:38Speaker 2: with you. Somebody Texas. I thought it was pretty funny
- 2:43Speaker 2: about NFL exhibition games. I've only watched one. I watched
- 2:47Speaker 2: the whole thing, but I watched the one with Haines
- 2:50Speaker 2: King in it. Because Haines King was a baller at
- 2:52Speaker 2: Georgia Tech. He's with the Carolina Panthers, and the only
- 2:56Speaker 2: the reason why I'm intrigued is one I like him.
- 2:58Speaker 2: I like his game, I like the way he plays.
- 2:59Speaker 2: He's a her, tough as hell, all that stuff that
- 3:02Speaker 2: we talk about, like the Jackson Darts and the Nick FitzGeralds,
- 3:06Speaker 2: that dudes that just will it and make it happen
- 3:08Speaker 2: in big moments, which fits and Dart did and others.
- 3:13Speaker 2: But Haines King at Georgia Tech. First of all, that
- 3:16Speaker 2: eight overtime game Georgia Georgia Tech was one of the
- 3:19Speaker 2: best games I've ever watched in my life two years ago.
- 3:22Speaker 2: It was either Thanksgig Night or Friday Night or something.
- 3:25Speaker 2: And two, he's at the Carolina Panthers and the New
- 3:28Speaker 2: Orleans Saints. I know y'all know this. They play the
- 3:30Speaker 2: Carolina Panthers twice a year and those are big, I mean,
- 3:34Speaker 2: your division games are beyond huge and big. And I'm
- 3:39Speaker 2: intrigued to see what happens with their quarterback room with
- 3:42Speaker 2: Bryce Young and how this all shakes out, because I'm
- 3:48Speaker 2: not sold that he's you know, good enough to to
- 3:55Speaker 2: you know, be a even a pretty good starter in
- 3:58Speaker 2: the NFL for ten years.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Uh.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I think he got what we call the brand bump
- 4:04Speaker 2: Ohio State, Alabama quarterbacks and so on, Texas quarterbacks, they
- 4:08Speaker 2: get the brand bump Michigan, right, Remember Ron Paulus out
- 4:14Speaker 2: of Notre Dame ben O Cook said he would win
- 4:16Speaker 2: two national championships. I mean, he wasn't even good in college,
- 4:20Speaker 2: and so the the the deal here is that's what
- 4:26Speaker 2: I was doing. As far as NFL exhibition games, I know,
- 4:30Speaker 2: I can't believe it either that I watched one that long.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I was gonna say, I cannot believe that I thought
- 4:34Speaker 2: you'd mean to warn your whole life that may have
- 4:37Speaker 2: been in I mean it's I think I don't think
- 4:42Speaker 2: I did, because he wouldn't. He wasn't even playing playing.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Romo got hurt, Kellen Moore got hurt, and then all
- 4:48Speaker 2: of a sudden, Dak was the starter his rookie year.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I mean it was like boom boom, but Kellen started
- 4:53Speaker 2: the preseason games. I think you're right. So, and then
- 4:56Speaker 2: they put Romo in in Game three I think it was,
- 4:59Speaker 2: and he just has to run outside the pocket and
- 5:01Speaker 2: gets drilled in the back, drilled in a in an
- 5:04Speaker 2: exhibition game at a boy So anyway, No, you're right,
- 5:08Speaker 2: but I have been to a Saints exhibition game, how
- 5:12Speaker 2: about that? Yes? And those are those are ones where
- 5:16Speaker 2: you just feature whoever invite. Thank goodness, I'm lucky that
- 5:20Speaker 2: people with club level or sweet tickets invite me. You
- 5:23Speaker 2: just go the game and get it. You don't watch
- 5:26Speaker 2: any of it, No, No, you're there to get some
- 5:29Speaker 2: good game day foods and a good cold beer. You
- 5:31Speaker 2: watch two drives because that's when doubtful. But when you
- 5:36Speaker 2: have like the start, I mean, then where your starters
- 5:38Speaker 2: are actually out there, they run two drives in their
- 5:40Speaker 2: out not really not anymore now that they shaved it
- 5:42Speaker 2: down from four to two, you're not even finding that
- 5:45Speaker 2: that's the case anymore. I was watching Andy Reid the
- 5:47Speaker 2: other day. He was almost debating it with himself while
- 5:51Speaker 2: he was in front of the media, which I get.
- 5:53Speaker 2: We're always all debating our business and and the who
- 5:56Speaker 2: what where? You know, but you could tell reads like
- 5:59Speaker 2: did you do do he was? He was? I think
- 6:02Speaker 2: he was debating strategically what he wanted to do in
- 6:04Speaker 2: front of the Kansas City Chiefs Presses. Do you like fijitas?
- 6:11Speaker 2: I do too, man. I love when you've got a
- 6:14Speaker 2: good quality place that's got thedas masa, mesa and Jackson.
- 6:20Speaker 2: That's a beautiful thing. National feat to Day. Is it
- 6:23Speaker 2: cold beer? Top shelf Margarita Espolone? I'm in Espolone Tequila
- 6:28Speaker 2: is on the show. They're great blanco reposado. You'll love it.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Do some top shelf margaritas tonight at the house. The
- 6:36Speaker 2: weekend starts at four o'clock on Thursday. Anybody in any
- 6:39Speaker 2: kind of management or leadership or ownership position, it is
- 6:46Speaker 2: cussing me for saying that. I know, but the weekend
- 6:50Speaker 2: starts at four o'clock on Thursday. So fahidas and es
- 6:54Speaker 2: bolone top shelf Margarita's on a Thursday night at the
- 6:57Speaker 2: House on the Island. Is that a win? I mean,
- 7:00Speaker 2: I don't know how you win anywhere else. Okay. Also
- 7:04Speaker 2: National Bacon Lover's Day. God, bacon is a delicacy. I
- 7:11Speaker 2: love bacon and on anything. I can't think of anything.
- 7:17Speaker 2: You know, when you get a good wedge salad at
- 7:19Speaker 2: a great steakhouse and you're it's air conditioning and you're
- 7:23Speaker 2: with your buddies, and everybody is good. You know, it's
- 7:26Speaker 2: just a good vibe you're with. You're with three or
- 7:28Speaker 2: four dudes, and you've already got some appetizers on the table,
- 7:33Speaker 2: the fried calamari and the crab claws and some ravioli,
- 7:36Speaker 2: whatever's going on, and the cocktails or or red wine
- 7:41Speaker 2: have hit the table, right, somebody's got an Elijah Craig
- 7:45Speaker 2: this or this or this, all right, you get that
- 7:48Speaker 2: wedge salad that drops with that crumbled, crunchy bacon. Man,
- 7:55Speaker 2: knowing that you've already ordered your Ribi Porterhouse New York
- 8:00Speaker 2: up or whatever it is that you want. That's a
- 8:03Speaker 2: good that's good living. Yeah, that that hurts to hear.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Right now, I'm hungry with that blue cheese on the
- 8:10Speaker 2: wedge with the crumbled bacon. I love it. And whatever
- 8:14Speaker 2: your beverage of choice is good grief. I don't know
- 8:18Speaker 2: how people don't like wedge salads. I questioned them immediately,
- 8:23Speaker 2: all right, I think we should ship them to Siberia
- 8:27Speaker 2: with fauci. Yeah, if you're not down at a great
- 8:31Speaker 2: steakhouse with good buddies, you've got multiple appetizers on the
- 8:36Speaker 2: including a bacon appetizer on the table, never too much,
- 8:40Speaker 2: but that the bacon crumbles on top of a wedge salad.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Knowing that you've got a sizzling rare to medium rare steak,
- 8:48Speaker 2: it's going to hit the table in ten minutes. Is
- 8:54Speaker 2: that a beautiful thing? Something's got to start the party.
- 8:57Speaker 2: And you know that you've already ordered the lobster mac
- 8:59Speaker 2: and side National Bacon Lover's Day that pig lovers as well.
- 9:09Speaker 2: We may have to go down to Beagle Bagel Cafe,
- 9:12Speaker 2: which is a whipping twenty feet from us, and get
- 9:17Speaker 2: Mark to cook us some crispy bacon. They didn't actually
- 9:20Speaker 2: do it right. They do it right last time I
- 9:23Speaker 2: ordered it from Sally, I got us like eight to
- 9:26Speaker 2: ten pieces of crispy bacon. I'm gonna order it because
- 9:29Speaker 2: Jack Bourgeoise coming in us right and bacon plus Key
- 9:33Speaker 2: City beer is a win. W talking about winning, the
- 9:36Speaker 2: Space Cowboys won another national championship from the Bagley College
- 9:40Speaker 2: of Engineering on the campus Mississippi State. We'll talk to
- 9:43Speaker 2: one of them next. Really all right, good morning, Welcome
- 10:29Speaker 2: into the Out of Bound Show ESPN one oh five
- 10:33Speaker 2: nine of the Zone, brought to you by the National Champions.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Space Cowboys part of the Bagley College of Engineering on
- 10:41Speaker 2: the campus of Mississippi State University. All they do is
- 10:44Speaker 2: win Bagley dot m s State dot edu. As you
- 10:48Speaker 2: schedule your campus visits this fall, and we want you
- 10:54Speaker 2: to go to Mississippi State University and check out the
- 10:57Speaker 2: Bagley College of Engineering. We talked about this with Dean
- 11:00Speaker 2: Dave Bod a couple of weeks ago. The fact that
- 11:04Speaker 2: the Space Cowboys went out to the twenty twenty six
- 11:07Speaker 2: International Rocket Engineering Competition against one hundred and forty three
- 11:12Speaker 2: teams Jackson Meadows and they won. They won it all.
- 11:16Speaker 2: They're national champs, world champs, and we like to hear
- 11:19Speaker 2: that in the state of Mississippi. We thought it'd be
- 11:22Speaker 2: cool to bring in Maggie de Lauter. She is the
- 11:25Speaker 2: Space Cowboys project manager, and Maggie joins us on one
- 11:29Speaker 2: oh five nine to the Zone ESPN. Maggie, Congratulations, good morning.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Good morning. How are you.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I'm doing well. Were you confident going into this competition
- 11:42Speaker 2: that the Space Cowboys could win it all?
- 11:46Speaker 3: Yes, I do believe. We worked hard all year, we
- 11:52Speaker 3: tested our engineering limits and unfortunately at the first test
- 11:57Speaker 3: launch we had sailed, but We came back from that
- 12:00Speaker 3: and built brand new rocket and tested it, and we
- 12:02Speaker 3: were definitely sure that it was going to be a winner.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Sounds like somebody that's going to work for Elon Musk
- 12:08Speaker 2: one day. We're visiting with Maggie de Lauter, Space Cowboys
- 12:11Speaker 2: project manager, Bagley College of Engineering, twenty twenty six International
- 12:16Speaker 2: Rocket Engineering Competition Champs against one hundred and forty three
- 12:22Speaker 2: teams Bagley dot MS State dot Edu. Maggie de Lauter
- 12:26Speaker 2: joining us. Maggie, where are you from?
- 12:30Speaker 3: I'm from Vicksburg, Mississippi?
- 12:33Speaker 2: Okay? What uh? What is your engineering major?
- 12:38Speaker 3: I'm in Industrial and Systems engineering and I'm a senior
- 12:42Speaker 3: this year.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Wow. Okay, has it been Has the curriculum been challenging?
- 12:49Speaker 1: Oh?
- 12:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, they try to strive, you know, to
- 12:56Speaker 3: make it as much of a real world experience as possible,
- 12:59Speaker 3: you know, and when we tried to get internships, it
- 13:03Speaker 3: looks almost exactly like the same thing you would see
- 13:06Speaker 3: in class. It's awesome.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Okay, that's cool. Congratulations to you all. Right with the competition?
- 13:13Speaker 2: How long did y'all how many months did y'all prepare
- 13:21Speaker 2: for the twenty twenty six International Rocket Engineering competition.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Maggie, Oh, my gosh. So basically we start as soon
- 13:31Speaker 3: as we end the previous year's competition. So when we
- 13:35Speaker 3: won in twenty twenty six, in June, we ultimate are
- 13:39Speaker 3: twenty twenty five, we ultimately started preparing for this year's
- 13:44Speaker 3: rocket So pretty much on the drive home, we just started,
- 13:48Speaker 3: you know, talking about it, designing things, and pretty much
- 13:52Speaker 3: from June at the end up until about May is
- 13:57Speaker 3: when we we work on that get it completely solid
- 14:02Speaker 3: and ready to go.
- 14:03Speaker 2: And you mentioned that there was some you know testing
- 14:09Speaker 2: here and some hiccups and some challenges. Was it something
- 14:13Speaker 2: Maggie where the team was like, hey, we didn't really fail.
- 14:17Speaker 2: We're just going to learn and see what we did
- 14:20Speaker 2: right and wrong and keep going. Was that the approach absolutely?
- 14:26Speaker 3: You know, engineering is more of one of those things
- 14:29Speaker 3: of it's not really a failure, but it's something that
- 14:31Speaker 3: you can learn from. Yeah, So that's really the approach
- 14:35Speaker 3: that the team took was, Hey, you know, the thing
- 14:39Speaker 3: that we tried and didn't work, so let's go back
- 14:42Speaker 3: to the thing that we know works, or let's try
- 14:44Speaker 3: something else. But ultimately, it you know, worked out and
- 14:49Speaker 3: it was a really great learning opportunity.
- 14:52Speaker 2: How many rounds or stages did you go throughout that?
- 14:58Speaker 2: What once you got to Texas and you started going
- 15:01Speaker 2: through the competition, how many rounds or stages was it?
- 15:06Speaker 3: Maggie, So do you mean like when we're launching?
- 15:12Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 15:13Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, So the competition occurs over multiple days, at
- 15:18Speaker 3: least for the actual launches. So we got out there
- 15:23Speaker 3: on the first day and we got there I think
- 15:26Speaker 3: at five am, six am something like that, and we
- 15:33Speaker 3: were ready to go by about eight or nine. But unfortunately,
- 15:36Speaker 3: by the time we got in line to go launch,
- 15:38Speaker 3: there was like a six hour wind delay because the
- 15:41Speaker 3: winds were so high, So we didn't launch until like
- 15:45Speaker 3: one or two o'clock. But we were still on the
- 15:48Speaker 3: first day, and we were really fortunate because the next
- 15:51Speaker 3: couple of days were completely rained out and definitely flooded
- 15:55Speaker 3: out of the desert.
- 15:56Speaker 2: That's crazy, Okay, when I guess when you saw things
- 16:02Speaker 2: play out, how do they announce the winner? Like walk
- 16:07Speaker 2: me through when y'all knew, is there a lead judge?
- 16:13Speaker 2: How does it work?
- 16:15Speaker 3: So there's multiple different criteria at least for judging the competition.
- 16:21Speaker 3: The largest factor of that is a technical report that
- 16:25Speaker 3: we have to write that we are basically working on
- 16:29Speaker 3: from the beginning of the spring school year until May,
- 16:34Speaker 3: and that pretty much details every part of our design,
- 16:38Speaker 3: what our thought process was, why we designed it the
- 16:41Speaker 3: way we did, you know, different things like that. Also,
- 16:47Speaker 3: the launch factors in so you have to hit as
- 16:51Speaker 3: close to thirty k as possible thirty thousand feet that
- 16:54Speaker 3: is the category that we competed in. And then you
- 17:00Speaker 3: also have to run simulations. So we basically put this
- 17:05Speaker 3: thing into a software that tells us how high the
- 17:10Speaker 3: rocket is going to go based off of you know,
- 17:12Speaker 3: the weight, how how tall it is, how like how
- 17:17Speaker 3: pointy it is, the different fin shapes that we make,
- 17:19Speaker 3: the motor we put in it, all these different factors.
- 17:22Speaker 3: We put that into a simulation and it will tell us,
- 17:26Speaker 3: based off of our programming, how high the rocket will go.
- 17:31Speaker 3: So we have to tell them that and how close
- 17:34Speaker 3: the rocket hits to that estimated apage versus the competition's
- 17:39Speaker 3: set apage is kind of like a criteria in that,
- 17:44Speaker 3: but there's there's multiple different, multiple different criteria and it's
- 17:49Speaker 3: judged off of two technical judges and then also all
- 17:55Speaker 3: of the all of the judges come together to kind
- 18:00Speaker 3: of evaluate all of the teams and it's based off
- 18:03Speaker 3: of a points system.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Okay, that's incredible. I bet the celebration was was pretty
- 18:08Speaker 2: amazing too. When you when you heard your name right.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Oh my gosh. Yes. So unfortunately we couldn't be there
- 18:16Speaker 3: in person because they had to continue launching into Sunday,
- 18:23Speaker 3: so they had a live streamed awards ceremony, so we
- 18:29Speaker 3: had to watch it live at at home, and we
- 18:34Speaker 3: got a few Space Cowboys together and we were in
- 18:38Speaker 3: our design room watching it, and first we found out
- 18:42Speaker 3: that we won the category and we were really ecstatic
- 18:46Speaker 3: about that because this is the first time I think
- 18:50Speaker 3: that we've won two competitions back to back first place.
- 18:55Speaker 3: And then at the end of it, they announced the
- 18:57Speaker 3: overall winner and we saw up on the screen Team
- 19:00Speaker 3: two sixteen Space Cowboys and we were like, no way,
- 19:04Speaker 3: no way, that's not real. So it was it was
- 19:07Speaker 3: really exciting to see that.
- 19:11Speaker 2: That is awesome. Congratulations, Maggie de Lauder, Space Cowboys, Project Manager,
- 19:18Speaker 2: Bagley College of Engineering on the campus of Mississippi State University.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Twenty twenty six International Rocket Engineering Competition Champs against one
- 19:27Speaker 2: hundred and forty teams internationally and domestic. Maggie, congratulations on
- 19:32Speaker 2: your success and we wish you the best and thank
- 19:35Speaker 2: you for your time today.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you so much.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Maggie de Laud soon to be Bagley College of Engineering
- 19:43Speaker 2: alum from Mississippi State University and part of the Space
- 19:46Speaker 2: Cowboys team that won another national championship.
- 20:00Speaker 4: M h.
- 20:20Speaker 5: H h h.
- 20:29Speaker 1: H h.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Off the waggle, good morning, out of bounds, ESPN one
- 20:47Speaker 2: oh five nine the zone.
- 20:49Speaker 3: No.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I did not realize that. Uh, I didn't realize that
- 20:54Speaker 2: Week two we get the SEC versus the Big Ten.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I'll take it, though. I'm excited about that. When we're
- 21:02Speaker 2: looking at the twenty twenty six SEC football schedule, Week two,
- 21:07Speaker 2: you have Texas hosting Ohio State and Oklahoma going to Michigan.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Can you imagine if the SEC loses both of those games.
- 21:18Speaker 2: You can tell everybody's having fun that's outside of the
- 21:21Speaker 2: SEC because that the league has been down one and
- 21:24Speaker 2: hasn't won a national or even competed for, I mean,
- 21:28Speaker 2: played for a national championship in in three years? Right, Michigan,
- 21:32Speaker 2: Ohio State in Indiana have won it. And do I
- 21:39Speaker 2: still think our league is the best sure top to bottom.
- 21:42Speaker 2: And that's even with Arkansas and Mississippi State and Kentucky
- 21:46Speaker 2: you know, doing what they're doing. Then the teams that
- 21:48Speaker 2: are using you know, Auburn hadn't been good, Florida hasn't
- 21:51Speaker 2: been good, and LSU took a step back, and Alabama's
- 21:55Speaker 2: taking a step back, and good God, George's taking I mean,
- 21:58Speaker 2: you know, you know the drill. But week two, if
- 22:06Speaker 2: if Michigan and Ohio State beat Oklahoma and Texas, you know,
- 22:11Speaker 2: the Danny Canals are coming. They are and they're gonna
- 22:16Speaker 2: love it. The Florida State guys, the Miami's, the Clemsons,
- 22:20Speaker 2: the Southern Cows, the Big tens, even the big twelves.
- 22:25Speaker 2: But that's that is a good lineup for week two
- 22:31Speaker 2: for sure. Texas hosting Ohio State Oklahoma at Michigan. Terrible
- 22:38Speaker 2: scheduling by both, but great for us. So please understand
- 22:42Speaker 2: when I when I reference terrible scheduling, that's only because
- 22:47Speaker 2: you know, as an athletic director and head coach, I
- 22:49Speaker 2: want to I want the I want the softest non
- 22:53Speaker 2: con and everything else you can get. But this is
- 22:58Speaker 2: delicious for week two, a SEC Big ten matchup. Could
- 23:03Speaker 2: we get a national championship? Possibly? Yeah, yeah, I mean
- 23:10Speaker 2: I don't know Ohio State. I mean, that's not going
- 23:12Speaker 2: to shock me. If they're in a national championship game Indiana,
- 23:16Speaker 2: I guess not. After that, I don't see another team,
- 23:21Speaker 2: even with Penn State's easy schedule, I don't see that.
- 23:24Speaker 2: With Matt Campbell, first year head coach at Penn State,
- 23:26Speaker 2: I know he's been at Iowa State for a decade
- 23:28Speaker 2: or so, and then in the SEC. It wouldn't shock
- 23:31Speaker 2: me to see Georgia in it or a couple other teams.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Somebody asked on the text line, bo, what do you
- 23:37Speaker 2: think Alabama does? Well? All you're hearing is Bama. And
- 23:42Speaker 2: we've talked about this is Bama on defense, Bam on defense,
- 23:46Speaker 2: Bama on defense. And they've got one, two, three, four
- 23:53Speaker 2: or five games to break in their quarterback. Neither one
- 23:57Speaker 2: has ever played, but they're both considered super talented and
- 24:03Speaker 2: what is it Russell and Mick But I mean they
- 24:07Speaker 2: play East Carolina win at Kentucky win, Florida State at
- 24:12Speaker 2: home win, South Carolina at home, win at Mississippi State win,
- 24:17Speaker 2: and then they get Georgia. So I absolutely think that
- 24:26Speaker 2: Bama could go ten and two and make I don't
- 24:30Speaker 2: think they're going even better than that. But I think
- 24:32Speaker 2: they can go ten and too and go to the
- 24:33Speaker 2: College Football Playoff with that schedule. However, there's some challenging
- 24:38Speaker 2: stuff after the first five, and those three in a
- 24:41Speaker 2: row after the first five are brutal Georgia at home
- 24:45Speaker 2: at Tennessee A and M at home that is a gauntlet,
- 24:53Speaker 2: and playing at Mississippi State before Georgia. I mean, it's
- 24:56Speaker 2: gonna be a physical game. So you're then you take
- 24:59Speaker 2: a week off and you go to LSU, then you
- 25:02Speaker 2: go to Bandy. Bandy's gonna take a massive step back
- 25:06Speaker 2: Chattanooga and then Auburn at home. Yeah, this is this
- 25:09Speaker 2: schedule ten and two. You have to go ten and
- 25:12Speaker 2: two with this schedule. The Boor went to the College
- 25:14Speaker 2: Football Playoff last year. They smoked Oklahoma after the first
- 25:20Speaker 2: quarter and a half, right, but then Indiana just I
- 25:26Speaker 2: mean crushed their souls out in Los Angeles at the
- 25:33Speaker 2: at the Rose Bowl. I can't they thumped them. It
- 25:39Speaker 2: looked like it hurt they were They were hurting them boys. Yeah,
- 25:43Speaker 2: physically imposing thirty eight to three. I would have in
- 25:48Speaker 2: my lifetime, even during the Mike Shula years or Mike
- 25:54Speaker 2: Debos or Bill Curry. Uh, I would have no way.
- 26:03Speaker 2: I would have. You could have said Bama's gonna play
- 26:06Speaker 2: Indiana and they'll lose thirty eight to three. And this
- 26:10Speaker 2: is when they were going on some hard times, right,
- 26:12Speaker 2: I'd have said, no way, no way, I feel I mean,
- 26:19Speaker 2: no way. And Indiana beat them by six touchdowns, not one,
- 26:27Speaker 2: not two, not you know, sound like Lebron or something
- 26:30Speaker 2: when he went to the heat with pat Riley, but
- 26:33Speaker 2: six touchdowns they got beat. Yeah, I see, I could
- 26:37Speaker 2: see Bama going ten and two. They have a they
- 26:40Speaker 2: have a really nice as nice a path as you
- 26:43Speaker 2: can have in this league. With nine games, they have
- 26:46Speaker 2: a good one. Well, and when Bama's been really really
- 26:51Speaker 2: good in the Bama that we know or at least
- 26:52Speaker 2: remember that, we know, they've always won on defense. Like that,
- 26:56Speaker 2: they've won on defense, and all you're hearing about is
- 26:58Speaker 2: committing to running the football, which they should. Good luck everybody.
- 27:02Speaker 2: I think Lane was on the podium two days ago
- 27:06Speaker 2: and he was having some banter back Lane Kithen, no kidding, right, Uh,
- 27:11Speaker 2: there was some banter going back and forth between one
- 27:13Speaker 2: of the LSU media Sure and this guy run the
- 27:18Speaker 2: stats that Lanes led the SEC in rushing since twenty twenty. Wow,
- 27:25Speaker 2: I think that's what it was. So even after the
- 27:28Speaker 2: year after opting out of using his best running back. Yeah,
- 27:33Speaker 2: what was his name? Bentley Ulysses Bentley? Yeah, uh o,
- 27:40Speaker 2: deal boy, they're still there's still upset about that. But
- 27:43Speaker 2: then he came back and went eleven in one. Yeah,
- 27:46Speaker 2: I mean, come on, what do you say, right, the greatest,
- 27:50Speaker 2: greatest season in the history of old miss football. If
- 27:53Speaker 2: you own a business there, you should send him a
- 27:55Speaker 2: royalty check. Oh can you imagine? We talked about the
- 27:59Speaker 2: Velvet ditch, Hey Finch and Kelly my Man Patrick Kelly's
- 28:03Speaker 2: He's made a lot of money off Lane Kiffino Dad
- 28:06Speaker 2: winning football games. That's great, Ain't no question? Is that's
- 28:08Speaker 2: the way it's supposed to be. Love a perfect storm
- 28:13Speaker 2: it Keith Carter made the greatest hire in the history
- 28:20Speaker 2: uh college sports in Mississippi. And we've had some good ones,
- 28:25Speaker 2: We've had some good ones, but he made he made
- 28:28Speaker 2: the greatest hire. Who's who's second one? Who? I mean,
- 28:30Speaker 2: who do you have up in your head? At least
- 28:34Speaker 2: there are there have been a burn Hiring Mullen his
- 28:37Speaker 2: second and uh what.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Do you do.
- 28:43Speaker 2: It's if who ever hired Polk up here? Yeah, I mean,
- 28:48Speaker 2: I don't know who did that in the seventies, but
- 28:50Speaker 2: whoever hired Ron Polk Schaefer hired Mike Bianco, Yes, that's
- 28:54Speaker 2: a really good one. But Burne hired both Mullen and
- 28:58Speaker 2: Cohen did Mullen took Mississippi State to number one in football,
- 29:02Speaker 2: co and took Misssippi State to the Championship Series in baseball.
- 29:05Speaker 2: That's ridiculous. So Keith Carter, Kithen, burn Mullin. From there,
- 29:12Speaker 2: you got you got good coaches, Cheryl the Cheryl Hire,
- 29:16Speaker 2: Tuberville Higher, Paul Kier Bianco Higher. Uh, you're talk about
- 29:23Speaker 2: revolutionary highers. You tell my guys that went to College
- 29:26Speaker 2: World Series. Richard Williams final fourah, the only men's final
- 29:30Speaker 2: four at the at the power four level in the state.
- 29:38Speaker 2: You remember who hired him? Who Williams? It was Scott,
- 29:47Speaker 2: Charlie Scott. They went back to back Charlie's before Templeton
- 29:51Speaker 2: took over. Uh, I think that's who it was. Bob
- 29:57Speaker 2: Boyd was let go, were allowed to step down, and
- 30:02Speaker 2: they really couldn't find anybody to take the job. What
- 30:06Speaker 2: so this is mid eighties. Oh yea yeah, Simby State
- 30:08Speaker 2: doll Miss have no money, right, they're not winning in basketball.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Bob had come close, okay, and he had won eighteen
- 30:18Speaker 2: or nineteen games before the tournament got expanded. He would
- 30:21Speaker 2: have gone to the tournament had had it been expanded. Okay.
- 30:26Speaker 2: This is when you only played like twenty seven games
- 30:28Speaker 2: or something. He went like eighteen and nine. I don't remember. Anyway,
- 30:31Speaker 2: you had Kyl Patrick Wells and I think Ken Harvey.
- 30:35Speaker 2: I don't know if Chaunsey was there yet. But anyway,
- 30:37Speaker 2: the point is you had the back to back two
- 30:41Speaker 2: Charlie's before Templeton, and they couldn't find anybody. They weren't
- 30:46Speaker 2: you know again, neither program had any money whatever, and
- 30:51Speaker 2: so it was almost kind of a well, I mean,
- 30:54Speaker 2: Richard's down the hall. Yeah, he's an assistant, he under Bob,
- 30:58Speaker 2: he wants the job, give him a call. Let's just
- 31:02Speaker 2: walk ten twenty feet down the hall and hire him.
- 31:04Speaker 2: And that's what happened. And then he went on to
- 31:06Speaker 2: do unprecedented things by winning the SEC Championship over Shaq
- 31:11Speaker 2: and Chris Jackson and then going to a sweet sixteen
- 31:14Speaker 2: and ninety five and the final four and ninety cent.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Oh you're not being facetious, you're being serious, being dead. Damn,
- 31:20Speaker 2: it's awesome. Yeah, that is cool. Yeah, that while down
- 31:26Speaker 2: the hall. Yes, wow, that's what happened. That is cool.
- 31:31Speaker 2: And it led you to a final four and then
- 31:34Speaker 2: he went to a final for that parties. Yeah, threw time. Yeah,
- 31:41Speaker 2: and look old miss you know skip Bertman passed away
- 31:43Speaker 2: a few days ago. Yeah, Ole miss. The reason why
- 31:50Speaker 2: old Miss baseball is what it is. Might be Anko
- 31:53Speaker 2: learn from Skip Bourman. Yeah, it's a program that never
- 31:57Speaker 2: won for the most part. And then all might be
- 32:00Speaker 2: Anco's done for twenty six seasons is went, and might
- 32:05Speaker 2: be Anco walks like skip Bertman. He does, you know
- 32:09Speaker 2: he is. He was a catcher under skip right, you know,
- 32:13Speaker 2: super cerebral position on the field, got to run a
- 32:16Speaker 2: million different things. I mean, might be Anco. We we
- 32:20Speaker 2: have been able to watch what a skip Bertman, you know,
- 32:26Speaker 2: because he's part of the coaching tree. Yes, and Mike's
- 32:33Speaker 2: it's just nothing short of remarkable, especially at that age.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Don't you want to emulate success? Yes? Yeah, at all ages, honestly,
- 32:40Speaker 2: but especially those I'll be honest, I'm really surprised Bianco
- 32:44Speaker 2: didn't get a national championship in four oh five, oh six. Right,
- 32:48Speaker 2: those super regional teams, those teams that he and Dan
- 32:52Speaker 2: McDonald recruited, they just stacked talent. It just this is
- 32:59Speaker 2: before Corbyn got going at Vandy, Mississippi State was in
- 33:03Speaker 2: the dumps. LS she was in no man's land Postpartman
- 33:07Speaker 2: because they hired Turtle before getting Minerry. I mean the
- 33:13Speaker 2: the it was a good, good time to be good
- 33:16Speaker 2: and might be Anko. Those four, those three super regional
- 33:23Speaker 2: teams back to back to back, I think they pulled
- 33:26Speaker 2: brutal Miami, Virginia and Texas. It was not in that order,
- 33:30Speaker 2: but I mean Garrito, O'Connor and and I don't remember
- 33:34Speaker 2: who was at Miami. Then Miami's falling off the cliff
- 33:37Speaker 2: last ten years, but back then they were good. Whyn't
- 33:40Speaker 2: you do? I say, Virginia, Virginia, Texas and Miami, I think,
- 33:44Speaker 2: but I'm maybe getting one of them wrong. But O'Connor
- 33:47Speaker 2: had just made the move over from Notre Dame, and
- 33:50Speaker 2: of course Augie was at Texas, and they like bonted
- 33:54Speaker 2: their way through that Super Region series or small balled
- 33:58Speaker 2: their way through that with with excellent pitching through that
- 34:01Speaker 2: super regional series to win it. I just went off
- 34:04Speaker 2: on a crazy crazy all right, SEC insider hit this
- 34:09Speaker 2: morning is brought to you by Total Transportation of Mississippi.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Uh.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Look, opportunity is sitting right in front of you. Total
- 34:18Speaker 2: Transportation of Mississippi is hiring drivers right now. Right They're
- 34:22Speaker 2: offering nationwide and regional routes for solo and team drivers.

- 34:36Speaker 2: of Mississippi apply right now, total MS dot com, total
- 34:41Speaker 2: ms dot com. Let them be your travel agent, all right,
- 34:46Speaker 2: and come join the home team at Total Transportation of Mississippi.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Do we have bar two? All right? We're gonna drop
- 34:53Speaker 2: some of the diamond Dave Bar two here, and then
- 34:55Speaker 2: we've got Jack Bourgeois, who's a single man coming in
- 35:00Speaker 2: from Vicksburg, Mississippi and the Key City Beer headquarters. And
- 35:04Speaker 2: Jack Bourgeois will be with us in the third hour
- 35:07Speaker 2: and we're gonna go find some crispy bacon and we're
- 35:09Speaker 2: gonna drink local Mississippi beer and celebrate college football season.
- 35:14Speaker 2: This is Bar two, Hey bar two finds another trend
- 35:18Speaker 2: or metric or something fun, something to uh to generate
- 35:24Speaker 2: and follow all before NFL wise, is the best play
- 35:30Speaker 2: caller Andy Reid? Or is it someone else?
- 35:34Speaker 5: Or yeah it's Andy Reid? Okay, it is since two thousand?
- 35:40Speaker 5: The number one guy?
- 35:42Speaker 2: Is it Sean Payton or any red? Is it Sean
- 35:45Speaker 2: Payton or Andy Reid?
- 35:47Speaker 4: Oh, Shawn's right there. So Peyton is really good. McVay
- 35:52Speaker 4: is really good.
- 35:54Speaker 5: You got read, Okay, Kellen Moore is extremely good. The
- 36:01Speaker 5: actual number one guy that put up the highest number
- 36:05Speaker 5: of points per snap is Tom Moore. But the thing
- 36:14Speaker 5: is with Tom Moore, he only did it at one
- 36:16Speaker 5: spot he did and he did it with Peyton Manning. Okay,
- 36:19Speaker 5: So so you know I'm kind of quantifying here. Is
- 36:22Speaker 5: like if I showed you if I got on the
- 36:24Speaker 5: computer here and showed you my my cheat sheet of
- 36:27Speaker 5: of all the ocs, the one hundred and eleven o
- 36:29Speaker 5: c's in the NFL since two thousand, you'd be like, well, Dave.
- 36:32Speaker 4: Tom Moore's number number one in points per snap.
- 36:36Speaker 5: Yeah, but that was at Andy with with Peyton, right,
- 36:41Speaker 5: Reid's done it with multiple quarterbacks in multiple franchises, so
- 36:46Speaker 5: so in my opinion, you go, Dave, which guy would
- 36:48Speaker 5: you rather have? I'm taking Andy Reid. So it's kind
- 36:51Speaker 5: of a matter of opinion. You know, I'm being a
- 36:54Speaker 5: little bit subjective in this, But if I had to
- 36:58Speaker 5: take one guy to call my offensive plays, it would
- 37:02Speaker 5: be Andy Reading.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Okay. In in the two thousands, would Sean Payton be
- 37:08Speaker 2: number two? Or someone else? Bart too? Uh?
- 37:11Speaker 4: Sean Sean Payton.
- 37:12Speaker 5: I think Sean Payton was number five, still awesome.
- 37:18Speaker 4: And and if you look at his if you actually look,
- 37:21Speaker 4: I was looking at.
- 37:21Speaker 5: His numbers a couple of weeks ago because I wanted
- 37:23Speaker 5: he had enough Uh, there's enough data on him at
- 37:26Speaker 5: Denver to compare him to the Saints.
- 37:30Speaker 4: It's literally, offensively, it's the exact same guy.
- 37:34Speaker 2: He he he he is.
- 37:35Speaker 5: What he did at the Saints and what he's done
- 37:38Speaker 5: at Denver is almost an exact mirror.
- 37:41Speaker 4: I mean, what Denver paid for is exactly what they got.
- 37:46Speaker 4: And so.
- 37:48Speaker 5: From a wow factor for me, uh, it's pretty impressive
- 37:52Speaker 5: to see a guy, I mean, what he did at
- 37:54Speaker 5: New Orleans.
- 37:55Speaker 4: Is pretty peak dude, as good as it gets.
- 37:58Speaker 5: And to have him in in two three seasons, three
- 38:02Speaker 5: seasons flip that and replicate that at Denver so quickly.
- 38:07Speaker 5: I think he is just an amazing head coach, not
- 38:10Speaker 5: just on the field, but the management of the franchise
- 38:13Speaker 5: as well.
- 38:13Speaker 4: Maybe not a great.
- 38:14Speaker 5: Salary cap guy, but but in terms of fielding a winner, man,
- 38:19Speaker 5: he is.
- 38:20Speaker 4: They got what they paid for.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Dude, Bar two on the Out of Bounds Show powered
- 38:24Speaker 2: by Pearl River Resort in the Golden Moon Casino, Vegas
- 38:28Speaker 2: style sports book which Bar two and I will be
- 38:30Speaker 2: there in a few weeks. What okay, so Andy Reid,
- 38:36Speaker 2: that surprises me that Shawn's fifth? Do you remember who
- 38:41Speaker 2: was too?
- 38:42Speaker 4: I don't. I don't know him right off the top
- 38:44Speaker 4: of my head.
- 38:44Speaker 5: I don't have to actually kind of kind of kind
- 38:47Speaker 5: of figure it out.
- 38:48Speaker 4: You know, but but you do. You do have Kellen
- 38:50Speaker 4: Moore there too.
- 38:51Speaker 5: Kellen at at at the charge of Dallas and Philly
- 38:56Speaker 5: won a Super Bowl there and it may have taken
- 38:59Speaker 5: a little bit of a step back last year, and
- 39:01Speaker 5: I'm trying to remember a lot of the you know
- 39:02Speaker 5: these guys off the top of my head. But you know,
- 39:05Speaker 5: Peyton stood out. McVay has stood out because he's gone
- 39:08Speaker 5: through several quarterbacks. He's been there a long time. I
- 39:12Speaker 5: tend to lean towards guys that have been in the
- 39:13Speaker 5: NFL a long time and have gone through the ups
- 39:15Speaker 5: and downs, you know, and still maintain a really really
- 39:20Speaker 5: high level. We we don't like one hit wonders. Okay,
- 39:24Speaker 5: and you know so.
- 39:26Speaker 4: But but Peyton is you know, we're we're splitting hairs here.
- 39:30Speaker 4: How good he is?
- 39:32Speaker 5: He's he's he's easily top ten in the NFL since
- 39:37Speaker 5: two thousand, easily, right, So you know how you and
- 39:43Speaker 5: listeners and you know, fans want to split it up,
- 39:45Speaker 5: that's up to them.
- 39:46Speaker 4: But yeah, he's he's as good as it gets for
- 39:49Speaker 4: the dollar. You know.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Now that now the overrated guy, it's okay, now here
- 40:06Speaker 5: here's here's so so McDaniel, No, you know who's really
- 40:09Speaker 5: overrated Kyle Shanahan.
- 40:11Speaker 2: I was just about to ask about Shanahan with the
- 40:13Speaker 2: forty nine ers.
- 40:13Speaker 5: Hey, Shanahan comes to my mind, and here there's there's
- 40:17Speaker 5: there's two reasons for it.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Uh, actually there's three. Number one, his career performance isn't
- 40:25Speaker 4: very good when you when when when you put it,
- 40:27Speaker 4: when you put.
- 40:28Speaker 5: It all together, his average season is pretty average.
- 40:32Speaker 4: There's nothing special about him. He's had some peaks, but
- 40:36Speaker 4: his valleys are really low too.
- 40:38Speaker 5: And here's the other thing is when it gets in
- 40:41Speaker 5: the fourth quarter and he's down, he doesn't win football games. Wow,
- 40:46Speaker 5: he he he's you know that Tyson saying everything's great
- 40:50Speaker 5: till somebody.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Everybody has a great plan until somebody punches you in
- 40:52Speaker 4: the mouth.
- 40:53Speaker 5: Okay, you punch Kyle Shanahan's offense in the mouth.
- 40:56Speaker 4: He doesn't recover.
- 40:58Speaker 5: He is one of the worst in the last fifteen
- 41:00Speaker 5: years at recovering when you get punched in the mouth.
- 41:03Speaker 5: So you know, and his offense, yeah, he could generate
- 41:07Speaker 5: some offense, but overall, you have him for ten years,
- 41:10Speaker 5: it's gonna be pretty average. It's just not as impressive
- 41:15Speaker 5: as the buzz says. I'm sure he's a football genius.
- 41:18Speaker 5: All of these guys who make it at the NFL
- 41:20Speaker 5: no football, the worst guys no football, you know, But
- 41:26Speaker 5: the buzz around him relative to the production on paper,
- 41:30Speaker 5: I don't see it.
- 41:32Speaker 2: All right, So I'm trying to think of some other
- 41:34Speaker 2: guys in the two thousands they got super high. Matt
- 41:38Speaker 2: Lafleur has been around a little while with Green Bay
- 41:41Speaker 2: and before.
- 41:43Speaker 5: Uh yeah, you got you got you got, you got Mike,
- 41:46Speaker 5: Mike McDaniel right with with with with the Dolphins. Yeah,
- 41:50Speaker 5: and now he's now he's with the Chargers. That's gonna
- 41:53Speaker 5: be fascinating. I think that is.
- 41:56Speaker 4: You know, he's put up really good numbers at Miami.
- 42:00Speaker 5: The question is the portable you know, did he do
- 42:03Speaker 5: it for a few years and regressed because the offense
- 42:05Speaker 5: was sliding right, it was going down, it was regressing.
- 42:08Speaker 4: It wasn't on an upward upward curve. But still his
- 42:13Speaker 4: numbers overall as a whole. Any NFL team would take
- 42:16Speaker 4: that over three four year period. But again, we.
- 42:20Speaker 5: Got a limited data, so we kind of got to me,
- 42:23Speaker 5: got to not be too far over your skis on
- 42:26Speaker 5: a guy who's only done it at one spot with
- 42:27Speaker 5: one quarterback.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Bar two on ESPN one oh five down to the zone.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Who is the guy that was under Dan Campbell offensive
- 42:35Speaker 2: coordinator and then he went to the Chicago Bears.
- 42:38Speaker 5: Oh, Ben Johnson, Ben Johnson, Yeah, there's there's a there's
- 42:41Speaker 5: another one. He'd he did great at Denver and he
- 42:43Speaker 5: immediately flipped the Bears.
- 42:45Speaker 4: So he was highly.
- 42:46Speaker 5: Portable, uh and and turned that offense around quickly.
- 42:51Speaker 4: So you can see. You know, you go through some
