- 0:00Happy Wednesday, February 4th. I don't know why I added the
- 0:07date on there. I think I'm kind of getting the
- 0:10lost as the days go by. You know, you come down here for
- 0:16speed weeks and it is exciting to come here and then when you
- 0:23get here, it becomes like the 24 hours of Volusia.
- 0:28It's like we're still here. But man, I'll tell you what,
- 0:34Aunt Patty and Uncle Rusty's house right here, it makes it so
- 0:39much easier. I used to stay in hotels and
- 0:44boy, it really was almost like Groundhog Day.
- 0:47But I was young enough where I had fun with it.
- 0:50So let me see, We've already run 5 races.
- 0:55I've already raced five times down here.
- 0:59I have finished and it's a coincidence everybody.
- 1:03I have finished first, second, third, 4th, 5th.
- 1:07Not, not, not in that order. Not in that order.
- 1:10It's kind of been like 4th, 3rd, 1st, 5th, 2nd.
- 1:18So we want to, we want to just keep on, keep on going.
- 1:24I'm happy, All is good. But I, I, I always do this.
- 1:32Dear Lord, please forgive me my sins.
- 1:35Please keep me rolling, keep me safe.
- 1:38Amen. So, yeah, it's it's kind of wild
- 1:44to think that you can race somewhere that, that many nights
- 1:47complete different races. OK, everybody, today's subject
- 1:55matter is Dale Earnhardt Junior's take and his thoughts
- 2:02on basically the Bud Shootout. You know, here we are.
- 2:09It's Wednesday. And tonight, tonight at Bowman
- 2:12Gray, they're going to finally get this race in.
- 2:16Now I want everything to go just perfectly good.
- 2:21I don't want any drama. Everybody, everybody's been
- 2:25roughed up enough. Let's let's enjoy the race
- 2:27tonight. Now I'll be out of Volusia, so
- 2:30come watch me race out there. But you know, we have our
- 2:33phones, we have our apps so we can watch the the Bowman Gray
- 2:37race. They are, they are taking rain
- 2:40tires. They are taking rain tires.
- 2:43So I'm sure if it's raining a little bit, if it's misting a
- 2:48little bit, they're going to go green flag on that little bitty
- 2:50racetrack. I don't know if you remember a
- 2:53year or two ago, they went green flag at Richmond on a wet
- 2:58racetrack and it was shocking. They were hauling ass around
- 3:02there with with a little with a wet racetrack.
- 3:07However, if it is raining and they are on rain tires, they're
- 3:12going to wreck the heck out of each other and it should be a
- 3:15show. Hey, it is the Madhouse.
- 3:18It did get its name. The Madhouse For nothing.
- 3:21For for nothing. Yeah, it is the Madhouse.
- 3:25OK, drink coffee. Back to Dale Junior, because
- 3:32tonight is the race. Dale Junior said something that
- 3:37I think is worth talking about. But it.
- 3:39But it's just not that easy. Dale Junior's like, OK, look, we
- 3:44left the original place where we do all this, you know, the pre
- 3:48season race, you know, it was always called the, you know, the
- 3:52Bush clash, the Bud shootout, whatever you want to call it.
- 3:57And people weren't showing up. Guys out there cleaning the
- 4:02pool. See him.
- 4:07I was going to, I was going to keep on going, but I figured I'd
- 4:11a little more show, you know, kind of show you what's going
- 4:13on, adds to the show. But anyway, back to junior.
- 4:17Junior's like, OK, look, you know, we left the Daytona
- 4:23because nobody was in the grandstands.
- 4:27It got really bad. So it was like, OK, we bore
- 4:30Daytona out. Nobody cares anymore there.
- 4:34There's a theory that the cars were just going around the
- 4:37racetrack. Now, one thing that I don't
- 4:42understand is in the day when we were three wide 11 rows deep,
- 4:48you guys loved it. It was exciting.
- 4:51It's like, Oh my God, look at that.
- 4:53And then all of a sudden somewhere you guys start calling
- 4:56it a rec fest. That's a rec fest.
- 4:59But me, I'm like, Oh my God, they're three wide 11 rows deep.
- 5:04So when, when did you all quit liking that and why?
- 5:08So I thought the races at Daytona were exciting, but there
- 5:12was nobody in the grand since. So they said, let's move it.
- 5:16So, you know, for all the right reasons, You know, with with Fox
- 5:22TV, they all went to, you know, the Coliseum and my God, they
- 5:26pulled off something that was unbelievable.
- 5:30They put a racetrack on a football field.
- 5:33And here you all go again. This, this is no good.
- 5:36I don't like it. They're not going to be able to
- 5:38race. But we were just at Daytona and
- 5:42you guys didn't like it. So it's like, OK, let's go to
- 5:48Bowman Gray. And Bowman Gray was, you know,
- 5:52more NASCAR. It was an original NASCAR track
- 5:56on the same thing we had at the Coliseum, a football field.
- 6:00You know, Bowman Gray is on a football field, has been
- 6:03forever. It's a legendary.
- 6:05It's an original NASCAR track. But this is where Dale Junior
- 6:11comes in. He says, OK, we've done all
- 6:14this. We've done all this, and it just
- 6:18hasn't moved the needle. So I want you all to respond
- 6:22right here. Should should this event be
- 6:26scrapped? But like Dale Junior said, this
- 6:29is kind of like a, you know, a, the salad before your meal.
- 6:34That's what I say. Dale Junior didn't say that, but
- 6:37that's what I say. It's a it's a preview before the
- 6:39Daytona 500. But to me, the preview before
- 6:44the Daytona 500 is like the twin one fifties, right?
- 6:49That's something. When did we all start doing
- 6:51that? When we say right at the end of
- 6:53a sentence, I make fun of people to do that.
- 6:56At the end of the day, remember that, right?
- 7:01But Dale Junior is right. Nothing has moved the needle.
- 7:06Does this race need to go away? Is the preview before the
- 7:10Daytona 500? Is that the twin one 50s or?
- 7:16I've been saying this all along and I love racing more than
- 7:20anybody, as you can tell. Is racing just not as big as it
- 7:26used to be anymore? That's my take, not I'm hoping
- 7:31that racing can make this big comeback.
- 7:33I like the IndyCar 250 up around the nation's capital, up there
- 7:38in Washington, DC That's going to be exciting.
- 7:41You know, I think that is going to lift everybody up.
- 7:45That's a good deal where I because it's kind of promoting
- 7:47racing. You know, I mean, listen, our,
- 7:49our, our government is going, hey, we're going to race cars
- 7:53and I think that's exciting. It's going to remind everybody
- 7:56that racing is alive and well. So respond right here.
- 8:01Should we go back to Daytona? And if we do go back to Daytona,
- 8:06well, that will you go, will that make you happy?
- 8:09Because what has it been three years at the Coliseum for?
- 8:13We're on our fifth year. And I agree with Dale Junior,
- 8:16nothing has moved the needle. Respond right here.
