- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one Piece episodes nine oh five, nine oh six, skipping,
- 0:16Speaker 1: nine oh seven, and nine oh eight, Taking back Otama,
- 0:21Speaker 1: a fierce fight against hold Him, duel the Magician and
- 0:26Speaker 1: the Surgeon of Death, and the coming of the Treasure Ship.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Lufy Taro returns the favor in these episodes. There I
- 0:41Speaker 1: continue to be surprised at the fact that your faular
- 0:45Speaker 1: law expects anything to go according to plan when he
- 0:50Speaker 1: is paired with Louofy. I just need somebody to slap
- 0:54Speaker 1: this man and remind him who the fuck Loofy is.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Welcome to spoil Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Thank you very much to Florian for commissioning this episode
- 1:25Speaker 1: and for once again being flexible, as I had to
- 1:27Speaker 1: push it to the next day, but I am very
- 1:32Speaker 1: delighted to hear I was going to move it to
- 1:34Speaker 1: noon the next day and came to find out that
- 1:37Speaker 1: some of the folks who commission episodes are going to
- 1:40Speaker 1: be doing a little D and D game together at
- 1:42Speaker 1: that time, so I made it earlier. But that's fun,
- 1:45Speaker 1: and I really hope that you guys are all like that.
- 1:48Speaker 1: You have a lovely time, because that sounds really fun.
- 1:53Speaker 1: So these are there. I'm trying to decide exactly how
- 2:01Speaker 1: I want to do this, because sometimes with these episodes,
- 2:04Speaker 1: it's better to go with like one person's plot than
- 2:08Speaker 1: to just go from beginning to end, especially considering that
- 2:12Speaker 1: we do have our people like split up a little
- 2:15Speaker 1: bit here. But it really isn't necessary. I don't think
- 2:20Speaker 1: to do that. I think I will just start at
- 2:22Speaker 1: the beginning of the first of these episodes. Hold them
- 2:28Speaker 1: is still holding onto Otama in his lion's mouth. Now, y'all,
- 2:38Speaker 1: I think that I saw that his lion has a
- 2:42Speaker 1: separate name from him, and I don't know exactly how
- 2:48Speaker 1: to look that up without getting spoiled, So if somebody
- 2:50Speaker 1: wants to help me out, because the lion is like
- 2:54Speaker 1: evidently got his own whole personality as well. They evidently
- 3:00Speaker 1: tend to be in sync with what they want most
- 3:03Speaker 1: of the time, but like apparently, as we saw when
- 3:08Speaker 1: we first met them, not always, and that ends the
- 3:12Speaker 1: way that it ends. I am. I am still trying
- 3:20Speaker 1: to figure out exactly how this works, because chomping down
- 3:25Speaker 1: on Otama and swallowing her is apparently an option for
- 3:35Speaker 1: this lion, like he can eat separately from the main dude.
- 3:41Speaker 1: And I'm really curious, like do they each need to
- 3:46Speaker 1: eat that the amount that they would each need to
- 3:49Speaker 1: stay alive separately? Does the lion have its own whole
- 3:53Speaker 1: appetite like the is hold him when he eats. Is
- 3:57Speaker 1: the lion not satisfied? Do they both have to or
- 4:00Speaker 1: if hold them eats enough, is it plenty? Or if
- 4:04Speaker 1: the lion eats enough, is it Like what I keep
- 4:07Speaker 1: thinking about in regards to this is covering true blood.
- 4:11Speaker 1: And like the Suki Stackhouse novels, there is a thing
- 4:15Speaker 1: with shifters and people who are like wear animals where
- 4:19Speaker 1: they can eat while they are shifted and they go
- 4:22Speaker 1: hunt and they will be full once they turn back
- 4:25Speaker 1: to human. But that makes more sense in terms of
- 4:30Speaker 1: the fact that that's all their body and the set
- 4:33Speaker 1: up here with it being a other being. But you
- 4:37Speaker 1: share a body. Does they do the both like esophaguses
- 4:42Speaker 1: go to the same stomach. Maybe they both share a stomach.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Does it burn twice as many calories because there's two
- 4:51Speaker 1: of them to handle? I just really want to know
- 4:53Speaker 1: exactly how all this and like if you try to
- 4:57Speaker 1: smother one of them. Do you have to smother both
- 4:59Speaker 1: of them in order for him to be fully suffocated?
- 5:03Speaker 1: Can you just smother the one and the other one
- 5:07Speaker 1: also dies, or do you have to find a way
- 5:11Speaker 1: to make both of them you know what I'm saying.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I'm just wondering how much they each have to do
- 5:18Speaker 1: with each other is really what it comes down to.
- 5:24Speaker 1: And like, the lions always awake, so to speak. Right,
- 5:30Speaker 1: It's not like there are times where the lion is
- 5:33Speaker 1: unconscious and he has to call it up to like
- 5:38Speaker 1: activate I guess, so to speak, because it's not like
- 5:41Speaker 1: a robot. It's a living, actual lion. So it's just
- 5:48Speaker 1: constantly in his business. Like a guy like this, if
- 5:55Speaker 1: you're trying to jerk off, that lion's interfering, right, Like,
- 6:03Speaker 1: doesn't that seem like it would be a real obstacle.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Or alternatively, the lion maybe wants to jerk off, but
- 6:14Speaker 1: you don't because you apparently do share a ball sack,
- 6:18Speaker 1: so you must share dick. So what if the lion
- 6:24Speaker 1: feels like jerking off but you don't, and it just
- 6:26Speaker 1: tests you. Just everything comes to a standstill until he's finished. It.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Just there's a lot of there are a lot of
- 6:37Speaker 1: things about sharing a body that I think would be
- 6:39Speaker 1: a big bummer. And imagine like if he wants to
- 6:42Speaker 1: have sex with somebody and you're like trying to have
- 6:46Speaker 1: sex with him, and his lion head is just like
- 6:50Speaker 1: in the mix talking to you, reacting. I mean, he's
- 6:55Speaker 1: also a very tall man, so if you're under him,
- 7:01Speaker 1: the Lion's going to be more at face level with you,
- 7:04Speaker 1: probably then his face would be, so it would probably
- 7:08Speaker 1: feel a lot more like you were fucking a lion
- 7:10Speaker 1: than it would that you were fucking hold him if
- 7:13Speaker 1: you're a normal sized person, because again, he is very tall,
- 7:18Speaker 1: so that's also kind of a weird. He would have
- 7:23Speaker 1: to find either very large women or also the lion
- 7:28Speaker 1: may want to fuck lionessays, and Holden isn't interested in that,
- 7:33Speaker 1: But maybe he wouldn't. It wouldn't bother him too much
- 7:37Speaker 1: because he wouldn't have to see it because it could
- 7:40Speaker 1: all take place basically completely outside of his eyeline. Anyway,
- 7:46Speaker 1: I'm just you know, guys, I think about the ways
- 7:48Speaker 1: in which things work a lot, and I know that
- 7:52Speaker 1: this is not something that is helpful or probably that
- 7:58Speaker 1: ODA thought through, because why would he But because this
- 8:03Speaker 1: is how I am. I'm sorry, but also welcome to
- 8:09Speaker 1: the show. Sorry, Saraphim, I'm just saying earlier. I think
- 8:15Speaker 1: at this point he knows how well Lufian plans go together,
- 8:18Speaker 1: but it's still trying to cling to the hope that maybe,
- 8:20Speaker 1: just maybe things might work out for once. I think
- 8:24Speaker 1: that he just a lot this episode. He keeps saying, oh,
- 8:28Speaker 1: he's going to ruin everything, and I'm just like, of
- 8:31Speaker 1: course he is, dude, that's literally what he does. And
- 8:35Speaker 1: the fact that you don't seem to have like a
- 8:36Speaker 1: contingency plan is sort of a you problem. Bernadette Natasha
- 8:43Speaker 1: and the logistics of eating a trilogy, I can't help it, guys.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Food is important and anybody you know, I'll get there
- 8:53Speaker 1: for in a second. But Seraphim says, don't try to
- 8:56Speaker 1: think too hard about the biology going on. Oda's entire
- 8:58Speaker 1: thought process for the Smile was Okay, this would look awesome,
- 9:01Speaker 1: special areas and he had way too much fun in
- 9:03Speaker 1: designing them. Oda gets to do what he wants, sarafm
- 9:07Speaker 1: and I get to think what I want to think.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I I will think too much on it. That's my brand,
- 9:15Speaker 1: that's my health, that's my whole thing. I can't help it, Bernadette,
- 9:22Speaker 1: I live for this train of thought right now. And
- 9:25Speaker 1: Florian says, these are the things I wandered myself back then,
- 9:28Speaker 1: and we are only at the tip of the iceberg
- 9:31Speaker 1: with the smile designs, and then Bernadette Natasha and the
- 9:34Speaker 1: logistics of fucking the sequel. Yeah, it really is true. Huh.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I go right from food to sex and that's not
- 9:41Speaker 1: a coincidence, that's just that's the hierarchy of need. Lina says,
- 9:49Speaker 1: Would him having sex be a threesome? I guess, oh,
- 9:52Speaker 1: you know what, Lena. I really like the idea that
- 9:55Speaker 1: both of them have got to find whoever they're going
- 9:57Speaker 1: to be fucking attractive, because otherwise he can't like fully
- 10:01Speaker 1: get hard. So he has to find women that somehow
- 10:05Speaker 1: appeal to his lion as well. And I don't know
- 10:08Speaker 1: what the lion's tastes are. Maybe he's not even into
- 10:11Speaker 1: other lion ladies. Maybe he is, like maybe human women
- 10:15Speaker 1: can do it for him too. I'm not here to judge,
- 10:20Speaker 1: but it would be very funny if there were somebody
- 10:23Speaker 1: that like hold him work, going, oh my god, she
- 10:25Speaker 1: is so fine. And then the lion is just like,
- 10:29Speaker 1: are you serious? She has no ass at all? What
- 10:32Speaker 1: are you talking about? Look at her teeth and they
- 10:35Speaker 1: just like hold him's chances are ruined to have a
- 10:40Speaker 1: good time because he can't get his lion friend on
- 10:43Speaker 1: board with him. That would be a real bummer. Finding
- 10:47Speaker 1: your own type and then being willing to sleep with you.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Is it challenge enough having to find your type and
- 10:55Speaker 1: your lion's type. That's a lot of work. And I
- 11:01Speaker 1: just feel like that probably means you're destined to be alone,
- 11:05Speaker 1: or you're gonna have to be with somebody who's probably
- 11:08Speaker 1: into some real freaky shit. You gotta be into some
- 11:10Speaker 1: freaky shit to fuck somebody. Hold them anyway. There's a
- 11:14Speaker 1: lot of people in this universe that I mean, you
- 11:18Speaker 1: guys know that I remain surprised that Big Mom is
- 11:22Speaker 1: able to fuck as much as she does. And I
- 11:24Speaker 1: know that that's like a power thing. But also she
- 11:28Speaker 1: is a very specific type, and I mean, good for her,
- 11:34Speaker 1: But also how many of those men were happy about
- 11:40Speaker 1: the situation. We may never know. Sarah fam says, what
- 11:45Speaker 1: that lion tongue do? Oh man? And they're supposed to
- 11:48Speaker 1: be really rough, right, like a lion's tongue I think
- 11:50Speaker 1: is meant to be rougher than a cow's tongue, because
- 11:54Speaker 1: that's like they're grooming. They have these little barbs on
- 11:57Speaker 1: them that would be pretty rough, like I could take
- 11:58Speaker 1: your skin off. Maybe yikes. I mean some people might
- 12:02Speaker 1: be into that, but personally no, thank you. So I'm
- 12:08Speaker 1: so sorry everybody to derail this, but you know, it's
- 12:10Speaker 1: just I am really I think that if you introduce
- 12:16Speaker 1: somebody like hold Them into the story, who has such
- 12:20Speaker 1: a bonker's power, I'm trying to grab this one hair
- 12:23Speaker 1: can I see it? And it's like driving me crazy
- 12:25Speaker 1: because I can't grab it. There it is if you
- 12:28Speaker 1: are going to create that kind of character, and it's
- 12:33Speaker 1: not really I won't say that it's not dealt with
- 12:38Speaker 1: because when Lufy meets him, he's like, do you have
- 12:41Speaker 1: a lion in your belly? You know, he says it,
- 12:44Speaker 1: but everybody around hold Him so far has been very
- 12:49Speaker 1: used to the fact that he has a lion in
- 12:51Speaker 1: his belly. It's not remarkable really to any of them.
- 12:55Speaker 1: And later on, when our friends are separated from Hold Them,
- 12:59Speaker 1: we don't have a moment of everybody going what the
- 13:02Speaker 1: fuck is with that? Lion in isbelly. So I just
- 13:04Speaker 1: feel like nobody is quite curious enough about it, and
- 13:09Speaker 1: that leaves it to me to have to like think
- 13:11Speaker 1: it through. I there's just some and are there other
- 13:15Speaker 1: people who've just got other animals that they share a
- 13:20Speaker 1: body with, and it might not be in the same place.
- 13:23Speaker 1: We have the girl who is half horse, but she's
- 13:26Speaker 1: actually herself like half horse, so that's not really the
- 13:32Speaker 1: same thing that I would prefer. I don't want to
- 13:36Speaker 1: be sharing my body with an entity that has its
- 13:38Speaker 1: own brain and its own motivations. I would be much
- 13:42Speaker 1: more into being half of a certain animal potentially. Now
- 13:48Speaker 1: I want to make it clear though, that that's not
- 13:50Speaker 1: something I would really want either, because being half horse like,
- 13:53Speaker 1: she's a centaur ish, she's more horse like than the
- 13:58Speaker 1: human halves of centaurs tend to be. But that would
- 14:01Speaker 1: also be really inconvenient, so I personally wouldn't want that either.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I am really curious how much the smile fruits are customizable,
- 14:17Speaker 1: how much control do we have over them? And are
- 14:21Speaker 1: like with a real devil fruit, you just find a fruit,
- 14:26Speaker 1: it's a parent that it's a devil fruit because of
- 14:28Speaker 1: the way they look on the outside and then you
- 14:32Speaker 1: eat it and you find out then what it is
- 14:37Speaker 1: like you don't unless it's the fruit that is of
- 14:40Speaker 1: the power that somebody else who just died used to have,
- 14:46Speaker 1: which that's a really specific circumstance. Otherwise, like you don't
- 14:52Speaker 1: know what you're in for at all. And I'm really
- 14:55Speaker 1: curious whether or not that's the case with the smile
- 14:58Speaker 1: fruits as well, And if so, I think that's like
- 15:05Speaker 1: a little bit disappointing, because if you're going to be
- 15:08Speaker 1: manufacturing the fruits, I think I would want there to
- 15:13Speaker 1: be a little bit more control over what they do
- 15:17Speaker 1: and a little bit more control over knowing what I'm
- 15:21Speaker 1: about to get into as I eat one. So can
- 15:27Speaker 1: you make them to order or can you ask for
- 15:30Speaker 1: a specific thing? I have a really hard time imagining
- 15:35Speaker 1: that this guy asked for this, but it's possible. What
- 15:40Speaker 1: do I know? People want all kinds of things that
- 15:42Speaker 1: I could never ever understand. So we don't know enough
- 15:48Speaker 1: about this yet. I also want to mention and I
- 15:53Speaker 1: in the discord I posted about this, and Sarah em
- 15:59Speaker 1: told me in the discord that the factories on Wano
- 16:05Speaker 1: are not actually making smile fruits, which is what I
- 16:10Speaker 1: thought we were up to this whole time, and so
- 16:15Speaker 1: I asked, well, then, what are the factories about? But
- 16:18Speaker 1: I asked that and then I went to bed, and
- 16:20Speaker 1: I did not see whether or not. Seraphim replied, So
- 16:22Speaker 1: forgive me, Seraphim, if you have you're gonna have to
- 16:24Speaker 1: reply again here. But I I like the fact that
- 16:31Speaker 1: do flamingo. I knew that he had the the factory
- 16:35Speaker 1: going on on dress Rosa, but I didn't realize that
- 16:38Speaker 1: was like the only only one. I thought that there
- 16:40Speaker 1: were like three, So taking one out would still be
- 16:44Speaker 1: a huge problem and a big inconvenience, but it would
- 16:48Speaker 1: be it wouldn't be like you completely ruined the supply period,
- 16:55Speaker 1: you know. So I don't know whether or not we
- 17:01Speaker 1: are supposed to know what these factories even do. Yet
- 17:05Speaker 1: Seraphim says, there is an encyclopedia of known devil fruits.
- 17:08Speaker 1: You can try to look it up and smiles. What
- 17:12Speaker 1: part of Caesar Clown makes you think he cares enough
- 17:16Speaker 1: to make that? Smiles? Oh? You mean, like, why would
- 17:22Speaker 1: Caesar Clown make a encyclopedia? Right? Yeah, I know that
- 17:32Speaker 1: the encyclopedia exists, but that's not the same that's like
- 17:37Speaker 1: something that people have filled out as they have found
- 17:40Speaker 1: out themselves what the fruits are. It's not the same
- 17:44Speaker 1: as seeing a fruit and being able to tell what
- 17:47Speaker 1: it is from the outside. And that's sort of what
- 17:50Speaker 1: I'm curious about with the smile fruits as well. It's like,
- 17:54Speaker 1: if I were going to manufacture them, I would want
- 17:58Speaker 1: to make it clear what it is, because I feel
- 18:01Speaker 1: like that's the biggest risk when you eat one, is
- 18:04Speaker 1: you don't know what you're in for, and there's times
- 18:07Speaker 1: where it can be kind of not great like the
- 18:10Speaker 1: powers that we have seen. I've been kind of sometimes
- 18:12Speaker 1: like that's you can't swim ever again. But this is
- 18:16Speaker 1: what you wind up with. And as we know, there's
- 18:19Speaker 1: the human fruit, the fucking chopper eight that a human
- 18:25Speaker 1: could have eaten and nothing happens at all, and then
- 18:27Speaker 1: he just can't swim anymore, which you just get absolutely
- 18:30Speaker 1: fucking nothing for that trade off. So I'm just wondering
- 18:36Speaker 1: if somebody is like, hey, I'd like a smile fruit
- 18:39Speaker 1: that makes me really strong, Maybe you can't like and
- 18:43Speaker 1: I mean strong, like lift things and muscular that kind
- 18:46Speaker 1: of thing. Maybe you can't exactly specifically make it to
- 18:50Speaker 1: order in that case, but perhaps you can get it
- 18:56Speaker 1: to a point where I know that's the main thing
- 18:59Speaker 1: this does and how that manifests is a little bit
- 19:02Speaker 1: less certain, And that's the thing, you know. I don't know.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I'm just I feel like making the smile fruits in
- 19:12Speaker 1: the first place is crazy that they can even do that.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I keep waiting to find out whether there's a weird
- 19:20Speaker 1: side effect from them as well. Serfum says, we've seen
- 19:25Speaker 1: smiles and they all look mostly identical. Okay, I knew
- 19:28Speaker 1: that we had seen them, but I honestly couldn't remember
- 19:31Speaker 1: what they looked like. Oh and earlier when I was
- 19:35Speaker 1: talking about the eating, I just want to mention guyes
- 19:37Speaker 1: that I made the sem la, so if you are
- 19:40Speaker 1: interested in seeing that, I put a little video on
- 19:42Speaker 1: my socials of me making it. And these things are
- 19:46Speaker 1: fucking delicious. I used a different recipe than what's totally traditional.
- 19:53Speaker 1: There's a like the method that I used. They have
- 20:00Speaker 1: tangsong in it, which is like when you cook some
- 20:03Speaker 1: of the flour with milk. I think it's a Japanese
- 20:07Speaker 1: method trying to find out, but it essentially makes it
- 20:12Speaker 1: so that things don't go stale as quickly and remain
- 20:17Speaker 1: moist for longer, And so that person had adapted that
- 20:21Speaker 1: into their similar recipe, which I always think is a
- 20:24Speaker 1: good idea. And then also the almond paste you can
- 20:27Speaker 1: either buy made or you can make it. And a
- 20:31Speaker 1: lot of the recipes I found the almonds were simply
- 20:34Speaker 1: raw almonds, but I found a recipe where you get
- 20:38Speaker 1: raw peel on almonds, not shell peel, and you toast
- 20:45Speaker 1: those and take some of them out of the batch,
- 20:49Speaker 1: put the rest through a food processor, and then roughly
- 20:52Speaker 1: chop the rest of that batch and mix it in
- 20:55Speaker 1: so that you've got a nice mixture of textures, and
- 20:59Speaker 1: it was perfect. It was so that the having toasted
- 21:03Speaker 1: them really added a completely different flavored dimension. Having the
- 21:07Speaker 1: extra texture from the roughly chopped ones in there. A
- 21:11Speaker 1: little bit of cardamom but not a lot in the
- 21:13Speaker 1: dough just gives it something and it's not like it's
- 21:17Speaker 1: just a whisper, and it's so lovely and really like
- 21:21Speaker 1: subtle and understated. And the recipes all called for way
- 21:26Speaker 1: less sugar in the whipped cream that goes inside than
- 21:29Speaker 1: what you would normally see in like an American recipe,
- 21:32Speaker 1: and I prefer that so much Americans over sweet and
- 21:35Speaker 1: fucking everything and having that very sweet almond paste inside,
- 21:41Speaker 1: but then the somewhat sweet whipped cream is the perfect combo.
- 21:46Speaker 1: And when I tell y'all, it has been a battle
- 21:49Speaker 1: for me to eat just two per day because I'm
- 21:52Speaker 1: like being careful about my calorie and take these days
- 21:55Speaker 1: and I can just about manage to have to per
- 21:58Speaker 1: day and still stay within my account. But it has
- 22:02Speaker 1: been tricky, and I I'm not saying that I would
- 22:06Speaker 1: necessarily understand eating your friends over them, but I can
- 22:12Speaker 1: understand there's nothing that comes close that I've ever had
- 22:16Speaker 1: that has this type of flavor profile. So it's the
- 22:20Speaker 1: sort of thing that if you're going to be craving that,
- 22:23Speaker 1: nothing else is going to do it. That's like a
- 22:27Speaker 1: really specific you know, I have times where I start
- 22:31Speaker 1: craving ice cream. I'll specifically crave like chocolate chip cookie
- 22:35Speaker 1: dough ice cream. What I can do is I can
- 22:39Speaker 1: have like Greek yogurt with some vanilla and granola and
- 22:47Speaker 1: melt some chocolate chips and drizzle that over with strawberries,
- 22:51Speaker 1: and it will satisfy my desire for that ice cream.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I will be like, I will be good I'll have that,
- 22:58Speaker 1: and I'll be like, no, you know what, I just
- 22:59Speaker 1: had a little bit of a sweet craving and that
- 23:01Speaker 1: did it something like this. I don't see how you
- 23:06Speaker 1: could ever manage it. It's just that specific. So I
- 23:11Speaker 1: really do have sympathy as somebody who often has cravings.
- 23:15Speaker 1: When you want something that nothing else will do, it's
- 23:18Speaker 1: a terrible feeling, and I sympathize. I remain unmoved about
- 23:24Speaker 1: eating your friends. So you know, hopefully I never eat
- 23:28Speaker 1: something that is so good that I understand becoming a
- 23:30Speaker 1: cannibal by accident. But it remains to be seen. It
- 23:34Speaker 1: remains to be seen. Perhaps I just haven't found the
- 23:37Speaker 1: food that will drive me mad, all right. So it's
- 23:42Speaker 1: crazy how much I have talked and I've barely really
- 23:45Speaker 1: talked about this episode, well, these three. But honestly, the
- 23:48Speaker 1: fight against hold them isn't It's like not that eventful,
- 23:56Speaker 1: if we're being honest. The thing that is funny is
- 24:01Speaker 1: Loofy gets o Tama. He actually starts to like get
- 24:06Speaker 1: away with her in hand, and then when he sees
- 24:11Speaker 1: that she's got the marks on her cheek, he's like,
- 24:14Speaker 1: what happened here? And she says, oh, it's nothing. They
- 24:19Speaker 1: just yanked on my cheek with pliers. And he's like,
- 24:23Speaker 1: they what now, and understandably is very distracted by this
- 24:31Speaker 1: revelation and decides I'm going to go and deal with
- 24:35Speaker 1: this motherfucker now. I have to say, as much as
- 24:41Speaker 1: I understand and respect even the impulse to be like, oh,
- 24:47Speaker 1: all right, hold on, let me deal with this guy.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Finding out that he tortured a little girl changes the
- 24:54Speaker 1: game for him. I really get it, and I'm mad
- 24:57Speaker 1: at it. But well, lufy does is he basically just
- 25:03Speaker 1: like chucks her and says give me a minute so
- 25:08Speaker 1: that she is free falling through the air without any support,
- 25:17Speaker 1: like and just she's just screaming that he doesn't have
- 25:22Speaker 1: to keep fighting, that it's fine while she's falling, free falling,
- 25:28Speaker 1: and it's just I found it very distressing. I understand
- 25:33Speaker 1: his thought, I really, like I said, even respect it,
- 25:37Speaker 1: but holy shit, dude, can you please just like put
- 25:42Speaker 1: her somewhere safe for a second and not just literally
- 25:45Speaker 1: drop her as you're like in mid air? What are
- 25:50Speaker 1: you doing. I'm not going to say that like dropping
- 25:54Speaker 1: her in mid air is as bad as torturing her, obviously,
- 25:57Speaker 1: but I am going to say best just as terrifying
- 26:01Speaker 1: in its own way that you thought you were safe.
- 26:04Speaker 1: She has her eyes closed and is feeling very much
- 26:08Speaker 1: like she's alone, and then opens her eyes sees Lufy
- 26:12Speaker 1: is here, is so relieved she finally is safe, and
- 26:16Speaker 1: she's like, big bro, you came. And then like a
- 26:19Speaker 1: split second later, he literally just drops her and goes
- 26:25Speaker 1: back into the fight. I'm sorry, but that would trigger
- 26:28Speaker 1: a little bit of an abandonment complex in me. I
- 26:30Speaker 1: would feel a bit of a way about it. I
- 26:32Speaker 1: can't help that Kammie Jiro is the name of the
- 26:39Speaker 1: lion for anybody interested. I don't know if I will
- 26:44Speaker 1: be able to remember that, but the lion does indeed
- 26:46Speaker 1: have a separate name, and it is Commie Giro. So eventually,
- 26:54Speaker 1: like when Commie Giro has her in her mouth, like
- 26:56Speaker 1: I said, there is the moment where Holdham is just like, oh,
- 27:00Speaker 1: all right, well go ahead and chomp down on her,
- 27:03Speaker 1: you know, and we have the the slow mo of
- 27:08Speaker 1: her being about to get eaten before she is rescued,
- 27:14Speaker 1: and it the fight that Lufy participates in withhold him.
- 27:21Speaker 1: It's funny because I know that I've said this before,
- 27:29Speaker 1: but the fact that people still just don't realize that
- 27:32Speaker 1: they can't fuck with Lufy like they can fuck with
- 27:34Speaker 1: just anybody. Is Like, I don't even know if hold
- 27:44Speaker 1: Him recognizes Loofy. We know that Hawkins does. I'm not
- 27:50Speaker 1: sure if Holdham knows who he is or not. I
- 27:53Speaker 1: can't remember if there was an expression of recognition in him.
- 27:57Speaker 1: But after everything that Lufy has been through, if he
- 28:01Speaker 1: did recognize him and doesn't think that this guy is
- 28:07Speaker 1: going to potentially be a match for him, that's a
- 28:12Speaker 1: wild underestimation after everything. I mean, come on. So there's
- 28:20Speaker 1: like an embarrassing moment as well where Holden has all
- 28:24Speaker 1: these guys and he tells them to attack, and to
- 28:31Speaker 1: say that Zoro makes quick work of them, I don't
- 28:37Speaker 1: feel is an adequate description of just how that goes.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Like it is, it barely slows him down. It's fucking nothing.
- 28:48Speaker 1: I thought that these guys not that I ever really expected,
- 28:54Speaker 1: because they're just goons, right, They're just nobody's. So I
- 28:59Speaker 1: know what Zoro is and I'm not really expecting them
- 29:02Speaker 1: to be a match for him in that sense, But
- 29:08Speaker 1: I was sort of, I guess thinking that like there
- 29:12Speaker 1: would be one or two that might be able to
- 29:15Speaker 1: sneak up that there might be a moment of like,
- 29:18Speaker 1: oh he's really breaking a sweat. No, not even a
- 29:22Speaker 1: little bit of a sweat. It's nothing, And I would
- 29:26Speaker 1: if I were hold him, I would be very embarrassed
- 29:29Speaker 1: about it. I feel like I would probably reprimand my
- 29:33Speaker 1: men and be like, you, guys, I'm gonna send you
- 29:36Speaker 1: off to like some sort of summer camp for sword
- 29:39Speaker 1: masters so that you can figure your shit out, because
- 29:41Speaker 1: you are not good at this. So he also hold him,
- 29:49Speaker 1: has this like odd whip sort of sword. It's got
- 29:56Speaker 1: like links and it it so it's a lot more,
- 30:00Speaker 1: it's longer, it moves more freely. It is a really
- 30:07Speaker 1: interesting sort of weapon. I've kind of liked this, actually,
- 30:12Speaker 1: wondering exactly where you find something like this? How do
- 30:16Speaker 1: you does he make it? What? But it looks initially
- 30:19Speaker 1: like a regular sword, and once he pulls it out,
- 30:23Speaker 1: it's obvious that like when he gets out the lights
- 30:30Speaker 1: on fire first, I think, and then it splits up
- 30:33Speaker 1: into pieces. So he when he pulls it out and
- 30:37Speaker 1: he starts whipping this thing around. This to him, this
- 30:43Speaker 1: is so adorable. To him, this is a wrap for
- 30:47Speaker 1: his enemy every time he has gone to this level,
- 30:51Speaker 1: that's been the end of the conversation, and so there's
- 30:58Speaker 1: just a sort of complacence here in how he just
- 31:05Speaker 1: thinks that he really has this lockdown. I sir, again,
- 31:13Speaker 1: this kid is just not who you think, and I'm
- 31:16Speaker 1: going to need you to tune in a little bit.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I do admire this weapon though. I think it's kind
- 31:23Speaker 1: of cool. We've seen a lot of different weapons that
- 31:27Speaker 1: oftentimes come from the actual devil fruit. Like people are
- 31:32Speaker 1: able to make a cool weapon out of whatever it
- 31:38Speaker 1: is their body is made out of, and so that's
- 31:41Speaker 1: kind of a different thing. This sword, I feel, is
- 31:44Speaker 1: maybe something that anybody could use. If he were to
- 31:46Speaker 1: drop this and somebody else picks it up, assuming that
- 31:49Speaker 1: they are like the right size to actually be able
- 31:51Speaker 1: to wield it, could make it work potentially. I don't
- 31:54Speaker 1: think this has anything to do with his devil fruit,
- 31:56Speaker 1: and that's I think what's sort of interesting about it
- 31:59Speaker 1: is that you don't need any special powers for this,
- 32:02Speaker 1: whereas a lot of the other stuff that I have seen,
- 32:05Speaker 1: you aren't going to be able to, Like, nobody's gonna
- 32:10Speaker 1: steal this from you and pawn it and some other
- 32:13Speaker 1: nobody buy it. You have it until you die and
- 32:17Speaker 1: they get your devil fruit away from you. But this,
- 32:21Speaker 1: I would be interested in knowing who made this, does
- 32:25Speaker 1: he do other work, what else is he up to,
- 32:27Speaker 1: just out of curiosity. That's something I think could potentially
- 32:31Speaker 1: be useful, even for somebody like Oosop who is the gadgetskuy.
- 32:38Speaker 1: You could also say Frankie, but Frankie is just so
- 32:41Speaker 1: much more intensely like robot stuff, and I feel like
- 32:46Speaker 1: maybe you Stup and Frankie together could do something cool.
- 32:49Speaker 1: But anyway, I just I don't often get impressed by
- 32:54Speaker 1: I'll be impressed by like a devil fruit power and
- 32:56Speaker 1: I'll be like, oh, that's a really freaky one. I
- 32:58Speaker 1: had that just recently with Hawkins. But this is just
- 33:01Speaker 1: such a separate thing, and I don't feel like weapons
- 33:03Speaker 1: really get my attention very often. It'll usually just be
- 33:08Speaker 1: it's just a sword, but it's a real big one.
- 33:11Speaker 1: It's just a trident, but it's a really huge trident.
- 33:14Speaker 1: You know. It'll just be something that's like oversized, or
- 33:18Speaker 1: it's electrical or something about it is like a little different.
- 33:21Speaker 1: But this is a specific the way that it separates
- 33:26Speaker 1: into pieces and how long it gets it's not like
- 33:28Speaker 1: a oh it's a sword with like some lynks, and
- 33:31Speaker 1: it becomes like instead of a three foot long sword,
- 33:34Speaker 1: it becomes four or five feet, it becomes like twelve feet.
- 33:39Speaker 1: So anyway, suffice to say, he is starting this shit
- 33:46Speaker 1: thinking that he really is gonna do something. And Loofy
- 33:51Speaker 1: meanwhile has Tama at this point, and he is taking
- 33:54Speaker 1: off and this is when he stops and he wheels
- 33:58Speaker 1: around and is just like, I need to deal with
- 34:01Speaker 1: this guy, and he is able to knock hold him out.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Like it's basically the vibe is I am I was
- 34:16Speaker 1: about to just leave, and I was about to count
- 34:21Speaker 1: the fact that I had Otama as a win. But
- 34:24Speaker 1: you had to go and hurt her in this very
- 34:26Speaker 1: specific way, and so now I must actually deal with you,
- 34:32Speaker 1: and I could have just left it. And when he
- 34:35Speaker 1: punches hold him this, this dude's whole face caves in
- 34:39Speaker 1: on one side and he goes flying. He goes flying,
- 34:44Speaker 1: and it really does create a like crater as he
- 34:51Speaker 1: plows through part of the town. And it's impressive. I
- 34:58Speaker 1: don't think that like there have been many times there,
- 35:04Speaker 1: not that there haven't been any, but there it's been
- 35:07Speaker 1: like a lot less usual that the place we are
- 35:10Speaker 1: fighting with whatever pirate group were fighting is where that
- 35:16Speaker 1: pirate group also lives, like dress Rosa was. You know,
- 35:20Speaker 1: we've had it happen, but it usually tends to be
- 35:24Speaker 1: we're encountering pirates who have taken over a place that
- 35:28Speaker 1: other people live, or we're just in a place at
- 35:32Speaker 1: the same time that's been like already ransacked and abandoned,
- 35:38Speaker 1: and a lot of his own pirate people are just like,
- 35:41Speaker 1: well damn because they fully expect, of course Lufy to
- 35:45Speaker 1: get taken out. Now in the midst of all of this,
- 35:50Speaker 1: Ukiku gets uh gets gripped up as well, and guys,
- 35:58Speaker 1: this is so funny to me because she is being
- 36:01Speaker 1: held by this dude who's got purplish purplish like blue hair.
- 36:06Speaker 1: It's like a periwinkle, I want to say, and he
- 36:11Speaker 1: she doesn't like fight back at all against him. And
- 36:15Speaker 1: I was watching her just like, what exactly are you doing?
- 36:18Speaker 1: We know that you can fight, and I want you
- 36:22Speaker 1: to just step up here. And it was a weird
- 36:24Speaker 1: moment to me. And eventually Zoro is like looking at
- 36:31Speaker 1: her being held hostage and literally just goes, oh, yeah,
- 36:36Speaker 1: I'm not helping you. I could not stop laughing because
- 36:41Speaker 1: he's she just keeps wanting to pretend that she doesn't
- 36:47Speaker 1: know how to fight, and she keeps wanting to pretend
- 36:50Speaker 1: that she didn't totally show her hand already, that she
- 36:53Speaker 1: knows how to fight. We know, girl, what are you
- 36:57Speaker 1: fucking trying to hide it for anymore? It's over her?
- 37:01Speaker 1: Will you please realize that everybody can see? And later
- 37:06Speaker 1: it's like when they're when they're together again, and she's
- 37:10Speaker 1: like accompanying them back. I think Zorro is the one
- 37:16Speaker 1: who's just like, well, what are you doing here? And
- 37:19Speaker 1: she's like, oh, I won't be any trouble, and Lufy
- 37:21Speaker 1: says something like no, it's fine, and she's really strong,
- 37:25Speaker 1: and she seems very gratified that he says that. But
- 37:30Speaker 1: you don't want to show what you can do, but
- 37:34Speaker 1: you also want to be seen as really a strong girl.
- 37:36Speaker 1: You need to pick a struggle here, And Zorro says,
- 37:41Speaker 1: I think she's hiding something, and she looks so panicked.
- 37:45Speaker 1: I mean, Loofy and Zorro know that you're a samurai.
- 37:51Speaker 1: You told them that. I don't know what. Additionally, it
- 37:53Speaker 1: is that she's hiding if she's on the run for
- 37:55Speaker 1: a very specific reason, if she's just like decided that
- 37:59Speaker 1: it's her job to protect this village that she has
- 38:03Speaker 1: been living in, and there was some like personal stake
- 38:06Speaker 1: in that. But I just have a hard time at
- 38:10Speaker 1: this point with the fact that she hasn't told them
- 38:13Speaker 1: the whole story, because I don't see why these particular
- 38:18Speaker 1: dudes who are helping so much don't get the full story.
- 38:22Speaker 1: I think they've earned it. I think they deserve it.
- 38:24Speaker 1: And I don't like, if you've already told them you'r
- 38:28Speaker 1: samurai and kind of blown up your own spot in
- 38:31Speaker 1: that way, I feel like that's just most of it
- 38:38Speaker 1: is gone. Do the rest of it, tell them the
- 38:40Speaker 1: rest of it. So anyway, suffice to say that he
- 38:45Speaker 1: says that he won't help her and she has to
- 38:48Speaker 1: manage for herself, which she does indeed do, and it's
- 38:54Speaker 1: gratifying because it's like so easy. She helbows him in
- 39:00Speaker 1: the gut, and that just makes him entirely let go,
- 39:03Speaker 1: because I guess he just never expected her to fight
- 39:05Speaker 1: back at all. And then one swipe kids one swipe
- 39:11Speaker 1: of the sword, and that man is down, and she
- 39:16Speaker 1: says to Zorro, what now, and he says, take care
- 39:19Speaker 1: of your side. So also in the mix, I should
- 39:23Speaker 1: mention we have our lion dog friend who is still,
- 39:29Speaker 1: you know, loyally having their backs. This is when Speed
- 39:37Speaker 1: fires all of her arrows and has her archers around
- 39:41Speaker 1: as well, because she wants to defend the food supply
- 39:43Speaker 1: that they are coming for. Now, when Lufy and Otama
- 39:50Speaker 1: are escaping, they're looking for a horse, and Speed has
- 39:55Speaker 1: her back to them, and so Lufi is just like, oh,
- 39:58Speaker 1: perfect horse and jumps on her back as Zoro jumps
- 40:06Speaker 1: onto that weird cart. The cart that's full of food
- 40:10Speaker 1: looks like a ship, but it's got wheels, and honestly,
- 40:15Speaker 1: it's really dope. I went to see in the theater
- 40:20Speaker 1: this weekend. I went to see The Fifth Element. They
- 40:22Speaker 1: were having like a retrospective because it was like the
- 40:25Speaker 1: fiftieth anniversary of its coming out or something, not the fiftieth,
- 40:28Speaker 1: it was like the twentieth. But you know what I'm saying.
- 40:30Speaker 1: And there's a point in that movie where he is
- 40:34Speaker 1: having lunch off of what looks like I think they're
- 40:39Speaker 1: called junks the Japanese. Like it's like too big to
- 40:47Speaker 1: be a canoe or a robot, but they're small boats,
- 40:50Speaker 1: and they it floats in mid air because all of
- 40:54Speaker 1: the cars fly and everything, And it's just a really
- 40:58Speaker 1: cool design choice to have it be in the midst
- 41:01Speaker 1: of all of these hypermodern vehicles, but it still be
- 41:04Speaker 1: a design that it's like ancient at that point. And
- 41:09Speaker 1: the fact that this cart is designed similarly where it's
- 41:15Speaker 1: looks like an actual pirate ship itself, but it's just
- 41:19Speaker 1: got the giant wheels. I can't imagine this made it
- 41:23Speaker 1: easier to make, but I really think it's cool. I
- 41:28Speaker 1: feel like maybe this is just for the sake of
- 41:31Speaker 1: it being recognizable as like this is important, and it's
- 41:35Speaker 1: therefore really beautiful, piled high with all kinds of food,
- 41:40Speaker 1: and there is even like a sale in the middle
- 41:43Speaker 1: of it. From what it looks like, it might be
- 41:45Speaker 1: that it doesn't operate as a sale, but it doesn't.
- 41:50Speaker 1: I don't know if speed was the one pulling it before,
- 41:54Speaker 1: otherwise maybe it was just people who were pulling it.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Maybe the sale operates as something that helps it to move,
- 42:00Speaker 1: just the way a boat on water would move. Anyway,
- 42:07Speaker 1: Zoro and not Ukiko, is that our name? Yeah, they
- 42:15Speaker 1: take this and they head back to the little village
- 42:19Speaker 1: leftovers and bring these people all of this fresh food,
- 42:24Speaker 1: and the folks are actually able to eat until they're full,
- 42:28Speaker 1: for like for some of them the first time in memory,
- 42:31Speaker 1: for like the children and stuff, and it is a
- 42:35Speaker 1: really it's like very sweet but also very sad. You guys,
- 42:39Speaker 1: I just really need to reiterate that there are people
- 42:42Speaker 1: out there in the world, in our real world, who
- 42:46Speaker 1: could do this for similarly destitute areas, and they have
- 42:52Speaker 1: all the resources to do it, and it would really
- 42:54Speaker 1: not even like make a dent, and they don't. And
- 43:00Speaker 1: I think if that is not something that you just
- 43:03Speaker 1: do constantly when you have the resources, there's something wrong
- 43:08Speaker 1: with you. I think you are broken. Something's wrong with you.
- 43:12Speaker 1: All I would do if I had the kind of
- 43:16Speaker 1: money these people have would be given away. I would
- 43:21Speaker 1: just be constantly finding ways to give it away and
- 43:25Speaker 1: help people, which is why I'm not rich to begin with.
- 43:29Speaker 1: You don't amass that kind of wealth without being willing
- 43:31Speaker 1: to fuck over everybody but yourself. That's just how it works.
- 43:36Speaker 1: I just I really want to underscore it, though, because
- 43:41Speaker 1: I think that it can be so easy when things
- 43:44Speaker 1: are in a cartoon and the dialogue is so cartoonishly
- 43:49Speaker 1: villainous to forget that there are literally people out there
- 43:53Speaker 1: who have everything and they are sitting right next to
- 43:57Speaker 1: somebody whose child is and they do nothing, and they
- 44:03Speaker 1: don't feel anything about it, and they just go on
- 44:07Speaker 1: living their own lives with no concern at all. And
- 44:10Speaker 1: I feel like it can be very easy to lose
- 44:12Speaker 1: sight of how this feels like a heightened situation in
- 44:16Speaker 1: this cartoon. But this is literally exactly what it is
- 44:20Speaker 1: out there right now. And we have like one of
- 44:23Speaker 1: the biggest discrepancies in wealth between the upper and lower
- 44:28Speaker 1: classes in history, in history, guys, it's like worse than
- 44:36Speaker 1: than during like the French Revolution. They started beheading people.
- 44:40Speaker 1: We should we should be doing that. We should be
- 44:42Speaker 1: beheading people. I don't know, we'll figure it out way
- 44:44Speaker 1: gotta but anyway, I just I think that there's just
- 44:50Speaker 1: a fundamental responsibility if you are a human being to
- 44:55Speaker 1: care about other human beings, if you have the resources
- 44:58Speaker 1: to share. I just that's fucking you know. People can
- 45:02Speaker 1: say all they want they earned that, No they didn't.
- 45:04Speaker 1: They did not earn that. They stole that from other
- 45:07Speaker 1: people who should have been earning that. And the fact
- 45:12Speaker 1: that they steal this big supply of food and feed
- 45:15Speaker 1: all these people is great, don't get me wrong, But
- 45:18Speaker 1: all I could think was, and now what that's the one?
- 45:24Speaker 1: Like they were able to take this batch of food?
- 45:27Speaker 1: But what about tomorrow? What about next week? We need
- 45:34Speaker 1: to find a long term solution. One big donation doesn't
- 45:39Speaker 1: change their everyday living situation. And this is not me
- 45:46Speaker 1: faulting Lufying company, to be clear. This is me just
- 45:49Speaker 1: being like, obviously, we've got to get a bigger plan underway.
- 45:58Speaker 1: So anyway, I'm jumping around a little bit here, but
- 46:01Speaker 1: I think it's fine. So this is the point where
- 46:05Speaker 1: Lufy is escaping and he has Otama with him and
- 46:12Speaker 1: jumps on the back of speed and you guys, remember
- 46:17Speaker 1: that I was really kind of like, what exactly is
- 46:21Speaker 1: the deal with Otama's power? That it seems like we've
- 46:26Speaker 1: got to keep it secret or they are going to
- 46:29Speaker 1: want to take it away from her because it appears
- 46:33Speaker 1: that all she can do is just like pull a
- 46:36Speaker 1: sort of dumpling out of her cheek, And I mean,
- 46:41Speaker 1: it doesn't feel like it's that useful. But then, oh
- 46:48Speaker 1: you know what, I just realized. She calls it a
- 46:50Speaker 1: kibi dongo. Hold on, I'm going to look and see
- 46:55Speaker 1: a millet dumpling, a Japanese dumpling made from the meal
- 47:01Speaker 1: or flower of the keeby grain millet grain, uh okay.
- 47:10Speaker 1: And in the picture that I'm looking at, these are
- 47:14Speaker 1: like very similar looking to a mochi ball. They're also
- 47:24Speaker 1: look to be like coated in starch to keep them
- 47:27Speaker 1: from sticking together. God, there's so much food that I
- 47:31Speaker 1: want to try, and I just need to go somewhere.
- 47:36Speaker 1: I had that cool thing where I was able to
- 47:38Speaker 1: actually try mochi for the first time, that one piece
- 47:42Speaker 1: event that I went to, which was super cool. But
- 47:44Speaker 1: there's obviously a whole lot of other food that I
- 47:47Speaker 1: have not yet gotten a chance. And I need to
- 47:51Speaker 1: figure this out because this is like, it looks really plain,
- 47:55Speaker 1: and I'm sure that they've got flavorings and whatnot, but
- 47:58Speaker 1: it doesn't seem like flavoring is usually added. It seems
- 48:03Speaker 1: like it's pretty plain most of the time, and it's
- 48:09Speaker 1: let's see uh oh. But they're calling it a dessert,
- 48:14Speaker 1: so perhaps this is sort of occupying the same place
- 48:18Speaker 1: as a mochi somehow, but it's definitely being treated like
- 48:26Speaker 1: it's a confection is the word that I'm seeing interesting anyway,
- 48:37Speaker 1: she feeds this to Speed like the Speed at first
- 48:41Speaker 1: doesn't want it, but there's something about it that eventually
- 48:43Speaker 1: seems to get under her skin, and she eats it
- 48:46Speaker 1: after all, And after she eats it, it's like she
- 48:50Speaker 1: will do anything that Otama says. So it seems like, oh, Toma.
- 48:58Speaker 1: I thought it was just like I make friends with
- 49:00Speaker 1: animals by feeding them this thing, and then they like
- 49:02Speaker 1: me because I gave them a treat. But it seems
- 49:05Speaker 1: like the treats make it so that people will just
- 49:10Speaker 1: do what I want them to do. Maybe not people.
- 49:13Speaker 1: Maybe it really does tend to work more on animals,
- 49:16Speaker 1: but because Speed is half animal, I can see that
- 49:19Speaker 1: it might work on her in that case too, But
- 49:23Speaker 1: she is a person like so I don't know what
- 49:27Speaker 1: the threshold is for who this works on versus who
- 49:30Speaker 1: it doesn't. But obviously her power is not just producing
- 49:36Speaker 1: these things. Her power is what these things do to
- 49:39Speaker 1: whomever eats them. And considering the what's the word I
- 49:47Speaker 1: want here, hijacking people's free will is a really questionable
- 49:52Speaker 1: thing to be doing in the first place. I'm barely
- 49:57Speaker 1: cool with Otama having this power like she has only
- 50:01Speaker 1: used it on animals. I think that I hope that's
- 50:05Speaker 1: how it would remain, were circumstances not what they are.
- 50:12Speaker 1: I don't want to know if this works on people,
- 50:15Speaker 1: and I certainly don't want the kind of folks we
- 50:18Speaker 1: have here finding out about it, because as we know,
- 50:23Speaker 1: you can just like kill somebody and then a devil
- 50:26Speaker 1: fruit will manifest and you will be able to take
- 50:29Speaker 1: that power away. I don't remember exactly how the devil
- 50:31Speaker 1: fruit shows up, because somehow we had what's his face
- 50:38Speaker 1: get a hold of the flame flame fruit right after
- 50:41Speaker 1: Ace died, and I don't know exactly how he came
- 50:45Speaker 1: across it or figured out where it was. Sorry, Bernard
- 50:53Speaker 1: Hit says yes to things in the US being oversweet.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Saraphim says, yeah, you misunderstood what she said. It was
- 50:58Speaker 1: feeding it the dumpling the made the baboon obey her
- 51:02Speaker 1: due to it's part. Sorry, there's a made the baboon
- 51:07Speaker 1: obey her, not just feeding it, and Saraphim says, yes,
- 51:10Speaker 1: it's only supposed to work on animals. Working on smiles
- 51:13Speaker 1: is an oddity, okay. I this winds up being at
- 51:21Speaker 1: the very least for now, extremely convenient because we need
- 51:27Speaker 1: speed to help us out. And every time Lufy tries
- 51:31Speaker 1: to tell her to do anything, she does not want
- 51:34Speaker 1: to play along. But then Otama will chime in and
- 51:39Speaker 1: repeat what he says, and she's like, oh, of course,
- 51:42Speaker 1: whatever you say. And I wonder how long it lasts,
- 51:48Speaker 1: if it ever wears off, or how all the specifics
- 51:53Speaker 1: of this work. So meanwhile in town we have the
- 52:02Speaker 1: confrontation between Hawkins and Law. It's very funny because Law
- 52:09Speaker 1: has this basket over his head, which there's something about
- 52:12Speaker 1: this that is ringing a bell. I feel like there
- 52:14Speaker 1: is maybe a I don't know, there's something about this
- 52:20Speaker 1: imagery that looks familiar to me. And he's evidently like
- 52:27Speaker 1: trying to protect his identity, but he still is immediately
- 52:33Speaker 1: detected by Hawkins. It's it just doesn't seem like it
- 52:40Speaker 1: was really worth it. He figured out who you were
- 52:42Speaker 1: almost immediately anyway, like he could see. But then Law
- 52:47Speaker 1: uses the room power and I couldn't help but laugh
- 52:51Speaker 1: because like, that's such a specific thing. I have to
- 52:55Speaker 1: assume a lot of the time people have to say
- 53:00Speaker 1: the power out loud in order to use it. Right,
- 53:04Speaker 1: this is not something that just like I I'm thinking about,
- 53:10Speaker 1: I'm comparing this to like mentally, the way in Harry
- 53:17Speaker 1: Potter that you can learn how to use spells by
- 53:19Speaker 1: saying the words and waving the wand but there is
- 53:23Speaker 1: a much more difficult means by which you don't say
- 53:28Speaker 1: the words out loud, and you think them hard enough
- 53:31Speaker 1: and clearly enough that the thing happens anyway as if
- 53:35Speaker 1: you said it out loud. And so I'm just wondering
- 53:38Speaker 1: if that's even an option, because I think that would
- 53:41Speaker 1: be very handy if he figured out how to cast
- 53:46Speaker 1: that way, maybe you wouldn't get detected immediately by Hawkins,
- 53:53Speaker 1: and that probably could be useful in a number of
- 53:56Speaker 1: situations if you are trying to protect your identity. But
- 54:01Speaker 1: you know that's none of my business. So the a
- 54:06Speaker 1: clash between the two of them is evidently Law did
- 54:14Speaker 1: not realize that Hawkins has the power that he does,
- 54:19Speaker 1: which surprises me. I guess I expected that the head
- 54:24Speaker 1: Haunchos in the mix would have been sized up by
- 54:29Speaker 1: Law at this point, you've been on this island for
- 54:33Speaker 1: quite a while. I guess he's just been in hiding
- 54:36Speaker 1: so completely. But even so, you've had your guys out
- 54:39Speaker 1: here like canvassing the place. I was a little disappointed
- 54:43Speaker 1: in him at the fact that it seemed like he
- 54:45Speaker 1: just wasn't prepared at all, Like, I don't know, it
- 54:51Speaker 1: just seemed like you really should have been more on this.
- 54:54Speaker 1: And I the the way that he is like discovering
- 55:03Speaker 1: how this all works in the midst of it. I
- 55:05Speaker 1: think what just sort of slowed it all down for
- 55:08Speaker 1: me is the fact that he's just catching up to
- 55:11Speaker 1: something that we've already seen, and so it's a little
- 55:16Speaker 1: bit less interesting by that metric as well, that like
- 55:19Speaker 1: you know, and eventually he uses his weird straw power
- 55:23Speaker 1: to just shove the basket off of Law's head. And
- 55:28Speaker 1: I couldn't help but cackle because I was sort of
- 55:31Speaker 1: expecting Law to just be like bare headed under there,
- 55:33Speaker 1: but he's wearing that giant fucking hat under that straw hat.
- 55:37Speaker 1: The basket and the idea of like both of those,
- 55:43Speaker 1: I mean, it's just a lot so the the like
- 55:51Speaker 1: Hawkins has all of his men coming up on Law
- 55:55Speaker 1: and sneaking up on him from behind, leaping through the air,
- 56:00Speaker 1: and Laud turns around and says amputation and slices them
- 56:06Speaker 1: all in half and then just gestures and the like
- 56:12Speaker 1: halves of these guys just get flung all over the place.
- 56:18Speaker 1: There's a video that Bernadette shared in the discord, and
- 56:23Speaker 1: it's like, what if one of the pirates who fought
- 56:26Speaker 1: Law had to like talk to the cops afterwards and
- 56:29Speaker 1: try to explain what happened. And one of the things
- 56:32Speaker 1: he says is like, the top half of me was
- 56:37Speaker 1: still fighting, but the bottom third of me was back
- 56:40Speaker 1: on the ship. And if he like swings his sword
- 56:45Speaker 1: and he missed you, no he didn't. And that's these
- 56:49Speaker 1: guys are just not prepared to be fighting with somebody
- 56:51Speaker 1: of his caliber. Hawkins also looks startled at what Law
- 56:56Speaker 1: can do, which again very much surprised me. He's familiar
- 57:00Speaker 1: enough to know when he says Room what that does,
- 57:04Speaker 1: but doesn't seem to get really what it is that
- 57:10Speaker 1: he is capable of doing. And like what Hawkins says,
- 57:15Speaker 1: which I found kind of interesting. He says to Law,
- 57:20Speaker 1: you destroyed my proxies. But these guys aren't dead. They
- 57:27Speaker 1: are actually like on the ground kind of twitching and groaning.
- 57:31Speaker 1: They're clearly still alive, but they're not dead. And I
- 57:37Speaker 1: just think it's surprising. The proxies don't work if they're
- 57:42Speaker 1: in pieces, but they don't have to be dead in
- 57:45Speaker 1: order for them to not work anymore. Really unless no, no,
- 57:55Speaker 1: I don't think so, because like law even, I was
- 57:57Speaker 1: about to say, unless they're going to die, but Low
- 57:59Speaker 1: specific says I'm a doctor, not a killer, so they're
- 58:03Speaker 1: not going to die. I think that basically, he's just
- 58:08Speaker 1: made it so that, yeah, you know, I just can
- 58:10Speaker 1: like put yourselves back together. It's going to be a
- 58:13Speaker 1: massive pain in the ass. The top halves of you
- 58:15Speaker 1: I threw off the side of a cliff, so it
- 58:18Speaker 1: will really be a piece of work for you to
- 58:21Speaker 1: put yourselves back together again. But it's possible. I haven't
- 58:25Speaker 1: killed you. I've just really really disabled you. But yeah,
- 58:32Speaker 1: this is like I thought that once he says my
- 58:37Speaker 1: proxies have been destroyed, that we were about to, you know,
- 58:41Speaker 1: really have more of a showdown. Instead we have the
- 58:46Speaker 1: transponder snail that I think is in laws right, it's
- 58:54Speaker 1: in his jacket, not in Hawkins. But they get news
- 58:57Speaker 1: about hold them get defeated. And this is when he says,
- 59:03Speaker 1: and Jack knows he's really screwing things up, and it
- 59:09Speaker 1: turns out that the guy who's actually in charge on
- 59:12Speaker 1: this island is Jack the Drought, who we encountered way
- 59:18Speaker 1: back and got his ass whooped by the elephant that
- 59:25Speaker 1: all of the minks live on its back. I had
- 59:31Speaker 1: forgotten that his name is Jack the Drought. It is
- 59:34Speaker 1: such an odd name. I'm like, I don't even dislike it.
- 59:40Speaker 1: It is just it's just a little strange, you know.
- 59:45Speaker 1: And I remember this guy being really irritating. So now
- 59:50Speaker 1: I'm just sort of like, oh boy, do I want
- 59:52Speaker 1: to see this guy again? What is this about to be? Like,
- 59:56Speaker 1: I feel like it was not just I wanted him
- 59:59Speaker 1: defeated because because I wanted him defeated, I remember that
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: he was attacking the elephant, and that itself is going
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: to be something that I am not going to hold
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: with so obviously, but I think there was also the
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: aspect of like something about his personality or maybe the
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: voice that they gave him or something that I was
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: very relieved to see the back of this guy once
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: he was finally defeated, And so I don't remember exactly
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: what it is, but I once I realized that he
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: was in the mix again, I was just like, oh no,
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: So I'm trying to make sure that I've like hit
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: everything with the two of them, and yeah, because then
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: Zoro passes and Law is able to jump onto that
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: food cart and accompany them back to that village and
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: just basically like yells at them on the way back
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: for not keeping things on the DL like they were
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: supposed to, which I can't help but laugh at the
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: way that Zoro just is so unapologetic like he does
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: he technically apologizes, He's like, yeah, sorry about that, but
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: it's he doesn't care. It's not obviously, it just does
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: not really bother him. And I found that shit very
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: funny because Zoro, I'm not gonna pretend that Zorro. Look,
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: I think that we all have, including myself, a tendency
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: to really be like the one that doesn't care about
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: plans is loofy, And that's true. And Zoro can follow
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: a plan if we have really established things. I'm not
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: saying he's not capable of it, but I am saying
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Zoro only really cares about plans like a little bit
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: more than Lufy cares. It's he is often very willing
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: to throw shit to the wayside if he is about
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: to get into a fight and feels like it's justified,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: or alternatively, he also just gets lost a lot faster
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: and easier, and thus everything goes to shit anyway because
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: he isn't where he is supposed to be, which is
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: not necessarily him not caring, but I could make an
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: argument for him being almost as unreliable as Loofy when
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: it comes to a plan. If he is left to
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: his own devices and meant to get somewhere on his
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: own recognizance, he's not always able to actually do that,
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: you know, Like I love you, Zoro, but you can
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: be difficult to work with. That's all I'm saying. So
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: let's see. I'm just making sure that I haven't missed
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: anything else. All of these different we have, like the
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: the fucking dudes showing up to confront them. I forgot
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: about this. We've got Batman and now we've got rabbit
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Man and snake Man, which I don't know if we
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: knew about these guys before. Uh, the rabbit Man and
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: the Snake Man. I feel like these are new, right,
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: but they essentially are just like, just because you took
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: it doesn't mean that you get to keep it, which
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: of course it does, because we're gonna eat it, and
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: now what are you gonna do to get it back?
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: What are you gonna what are you gonna do? Who
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: gonna check me? Boo? Is the question these guys and
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: their abilities. I mean, these are all smile fruits as well, right,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Are all the smile fruits like animal based? Is that
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: how all of them work? Because we've got a lot
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: of stuff in the real devil fruits that are material spaced.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: You know a guy who can like suck water out
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: of things and is made of sand. We've got a
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: guy who's made out of mochi. We've got a guy
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: who's made out of rubber. Are they all purely all animals?
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Seraph Him says yes, Okay. Bernadette says the entire straw
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: hats are difficult to work with, as if Sonji or
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Usop are one bit more reliable to not get into
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: Shenanigan's You make a compelling point, Bernardette, that's true. I
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: think with Usop, I am I set that to the
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: side because Usup is not often a pure fighter the
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: way that Zorro is. So I think Zoro gets thought
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: of as more reliable because of what a badass he is.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: But when people think of Sonjy. He is a good fighter,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: but none of us think of that first, Dewey, that's
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: not our first thought. Our first thought is the heart, eyes,
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: bloody nose, Sanji, that's our first thought. So I think
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: that our first thought about Zoro is that he is
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: a swordsman. But really our first thought about Zoro should
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: be he's a crank. That should be the first thought,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: and a crank gonna do what he feels like, Bernadette says,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: as far as we know, and that's why the Kaito's
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: pirate crew is called the Beast Pirates. Oh that's right, yeah, yeah, right, right,
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: right right. I forgot about that. So anyway, they are
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: able to all eat the food because Loufy steals this
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: huge tub of fresh water that is supposed to be
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: part of like the the what do you call it?
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: I'm trying. I keep wanting to say sacrifice, but that's not.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: But it's part of the what the people who live
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: in the nicer part of town are going to be
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: giving the showgun. And I love that he just takes
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: this entire thing of water and just leaves and everybody's
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: just like, what are you doing? And he uses this
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: to crush those bad guys, and these people actually have
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: some good fresh water to drink, which is nice. And
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: this is the first time that Loufy sees Law, who
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: is of course going, you fucked everything up, you know
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: that right by doing this, and Louviy essentially, I think
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: he just says I had to, and you know what,
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: He's right, and Law, I understand that you had a
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: whole plan. And I think because we do hear about
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: like some places being robbed of food, I think that
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: that was Law's people. But I don't know if they
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: were giving it to any villagers or if they were
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: just taking it for themselves. If he wasn't trying to
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: help these people at all, I'm going to be judging
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: him for that, and I just want that known. We
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: don't have a lot of answers on this yet, but
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: I feel like he wasn't doing much and I find
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: that to be a little bit shitty. I don't love Law,
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: we know this, right. I don't dislike him, but he
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: is really I have my goal and that's all that
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: really matters. And I have a hard time with that because, like,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: grow up, you're not the only person in the world.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: You're not the main character Luviy's the main character stop it.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: So anyway, they take the cart apart as well for
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: all of the building material, because they only get bullshit
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: that's been rotten or thrown away. And I forgot to
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: really mention that Otama like throughout these three episodes, keeps
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: looking at Lufy and thinking of Ace and how Lufy
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: is really embodying what Ace had said he would do,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: and she is just feeling super affectionate toward him. And
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: there comes a point where she says something like you're
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: just like Ace, and he doesn't hear her and goes,
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: what did you say, and she's just like nothing, never mind.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: But I really appreciate the fact that she's just comforted
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: by it, because I was worried that it would hurt
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: a little, and I'm sure it does also, but I
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: was almost worried that, like, you remind me of Ace,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: and maybe you aren't going to do what you said
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: because he never came back. And instead it's you remind
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: me of Ace because he made sure we were fed
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: and cared about us. You know, I really appreciate that
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: that's how she's feeling about it. So this is when
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: they come up with their plan, like we have got
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: to go to Oden's Castle the name of the castle,
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: which is at the top of this mountain, and Lufy
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: is going to leave Zoro, and this is when Okiku
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: comes with them and Law says that up there is
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: going to be something that basically turns their worlds upside down.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: And we get three I think it's three. We get
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: like an image of three stones that look like ponoglyphs
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: in a way, but they're not. There's not nearly as
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: much writing on them, and we just get to see
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: those as like a preview of what it is, but
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: we aren't told what they are, so no idea, no
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: idea what that is. Ooh, Seraphim says, those are gravestones. Huh.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: Florian says a quick question before we end. We see
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Ace a little in these episodes via Toama. You were
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: surprised that we get a little bit more of Ace.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: I was definitely, and honestly, it makes me even sadder
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: that Ace died, Like, of course I was bummed that
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: he died anyway, but he was out here trying to
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: do the good things that Lufi is trying to do,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: and one less person in the world that's doing that
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: stuff is a real loss. And yeah, and like I said,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: I really was glad that she was pleased by it
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: versus being like mistrustful because of it. In there's a
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: couple of ways that you could play somebody who's been
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: kind of abandoned after thinking they're going to see somebody again.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: And obviously it's not his fault that he didn't come back,
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: but that doesn't always matter when somebody is writing this
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: sort of story beat. So all right, well I'm going
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: to wrap things up. I have no idea if they
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: are gravestones what that means either, so I have to
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: wait and see, but appreciate you all, and I believe
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: I have another episode tomorrow, so I will be following
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: this up quite shortly, and I'm excited until next time
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: to the lou motherfuckers. That was an Unspoiled Network podcast.
