- 1:23Speaker 3: gonna have a bad time. Even I knew that one.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Oh my, bob, oh my, oh my, oh my, bo oh.

- 1:46Speaker 5: Fun with liveries. All right, it is Tuesday here at
- 1:50Speaker 5: je Lets Stadium, and it's Deuce, it's Tamara, it's Paul,
- 1:55Speaker 5: it's me, Matt and the booth. We're talking Patriots and
- 1:58Speaker 5: there's a lot to talk about. People coming in. We
- 2:02Speaker 5: know all the ocs, but now we're adding other people.
- 2:06Speaker 5: Ben McAdoo, Ben.
- 2:08Speaker 3: McAdoo, Is that has that happened?
- 2:11Speaker 6: There was another? Just plsera. I believe there was just
- 2:14Speaker 6: a recent report that it was they're hiring him. I
- 2:17Speaker 6: know there was one. I think Friday Montgomery, they were
- 2:19Speaker 6: like meeting.
- 2:20Speaker 3: With him Montgomery. That's done.
- 2:23Speaker 1: There's one from thirty seven minutes ago. Is it Gari.
- 2:28Speaker 6: Careful?
- 2:29Speaker 5: And what's he's saying?
- 2:30Speaker 1: The Patriots are hiring him as an offensive assistant coach.
- 2:34Speaker 5: Bat Macado and then Montgomery as offensive line coach. Defensive
- 2:40Speaker 5: line coach. Okay, so we still don't have well, well,
- 2:45Speaker 5: I still here, but we there's still a search for
- 2:48Speaker 5: offensive line or we're interviewing people or yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 8: Well, I mean, Ree you know, tweeted out that Pillogrino
- 2:53Speaker 8: and Brian Belichick, you know, seem like they're in line
- 2:56Speaker 8: to stay Steve Belichick reportedly and Vinnie Cinceri going to
- 3:00Speaker 8: Washington with the Huskies reuniting with Jedfish. So it seems
- 3:04Speaker 8: like there's still some work to do on the offensive
- 3:05Speaker 8: side of the ball. But the defense, other than linebacker,
- 3:08Speaker 8: that that side seems like it's coming together. So okay,
- 3:11Speaker 8: but you're right, they need wide receiver offensive line.
- 3:14Speaker 5: Troy is still here, but I don't know what his
- 3:16Speaker 5: contract status is.
- 3:18Speaker 6: Yeah, yea, So.
- 3:20Speaker 5: It was interesting I heard that he was at the
- 3:23Speaker 5: Senior ball Obviously he was the offensive coordinator there, but
- 3:28Speaker 5: he was like the only coach there that didn't have
- 3:31Speaker 5: team apparel on. All the other coaches were repping their
- 3:34Speaker 5: team except for Troy Brown.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I think that makes sense. I mean, considering I'm sure
- 3:38Speaker 1: that everyone here has to interview with the offensive coordinator
- 3:41Speaker 1: to see if they are going to stay here, or
- 3:43Speaker 1: maybe he doesn't want to stay here. He wants to
- 3:44Speaker 1: try somewhere else.
- 3:45Speaker 5: Maybe.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Well.
- 3:45Speaker 8: The funny thing was one of the other coaches I
- 3:47Speaker 8: think was with the Panthers and I'm sorry, with the
- 3:49Speaker 8: Titans and was wearing Titan stuff the whole time. And
- 3:51Speaker 8: then while he was there it was announced that he's
- 3:54Speaker 8: going to be joining Green Bay staff.
- 3:55Speaker 6: So I think there's a lot of that kind of
- 3:57Speaker 6: going on right now. Guys. You know, with just what
- 3:59Speaker 6: he had in his his closet, you commit to it.
- 4:01Speaker 8: You're kind of in limbo here in early February, and
- 4:04Speaker 8: you know there's still moves to be made.
- 4:07Speaker 5: But speaking of people wearing stuff, did have you seen
- 4:09Speaker 5: the Gronk commercial with Lynch and it's for Dorito's or it's.
- 4:15Speaker 6: For ye ye yeah, ye you.
- 4:18Speaker 5: Lynch is without any branding, but Gronk had a Patriots
- 4:22Speaker 5: sweatshirt on. I found that. I didn't I.
- 4:24Speaker 6: Didn't notice that.
- 4:25Speaker 3: I haven't seen it.
- 4:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I was. I was watching it waiting
- 4:29Speaker 6: for them to make like they should have handed the.
- 4:32Speaker 5: You know, he was like non descript, he didn't have
- 4:34Speaker 5: any you know, logo, and Bronk had the big Patriots
- 4:38Speaker 5: logo across his chest, So I was wondering if they
- 4:41Speaker 5: asked him to do that, if he asked to do that. Interesting, Yeah,
- 4:45Speaker 5: it was interesting, I.
- 4:46Speaker 6: Thought, Yeah, I didn't. I didn't pick up on that.
- 4:48Speaker 3: But all the stuff I see they don't have any
- 4:51Speaker 3: shirts on at all. They do Gronk and Edelman and
- 4:57Speaker 3: Ada and man. I love it.
- 5:00Speaker 8: They look great and in their post career there they're
- 5:02Speaker 8: holding on one.
- 5:03Speaker 5: So how are we feeling do we? You know, about
- 5:08Speaker 5: this building of the staff so far?
- 5:12Speaker 8: I would just say generally, I was talking general terms,
- 5:15Speaker 8: especially with Cherry Montgomery is uh. You know, I've praised
- 5:18Speaker 8: the Packers generally, and I mean I think that's the
- 5:21Speaker 8: theme that people are going through, is that the Elliot
- 5:23Speaker 8: Wolf influence and you know, if you can do the
- 5:25Speaker 8: way the Packers do it, which is draft, develop, retain,
- 5:29Speaker 8: I mean, that's kind of their model and that's you know,
- 5:31Speaker 8: what they've become famous for, so hopefully they're able to
- 5:33Speaker 8: do that. I like I like him. I mean, I
- 5:35Speaker 8: like Green Bay's defensive front. I mean, Kenny Clark a
- 5:38Speaker 8: really good player, so you're getting you know, a guy
- 5:40Speaker 8: who's had some success with with those players, you know, Macado.
- 5:43Speaker 6: It's hard it's it's almost like Van Pelt again, there's.
- 5:46Speaker 8: He's been around a lot, he's uh, you know, never
- 5:49Speaker 8: really ascended to like, you know, high level success on
- 5:51Speaker 8: the offensive side of the ball. Certainly work with Aaron Rodgers,
- 5:55Speaker 8: So you know, I just I think the offense is
- 5:57Speaker 8: going to be feeling it out. I have high expectations
- 5:59Speaker 8: the defense would Marcus Covington and the staff that they're
- 6:01Speaker 8: putting together with you know, Pelgreno and Belichicker on the
- 6:04Speaker 8: back end, that they'll be able to figure it out.
- 6:05Speaker 8: But I just I think the offense is going to
- 6:07Speaker 8: be a work in progress, and we're gonna have to
- 6:09Speaker 8: wait and see how exactly this is going to come together,
- 6:12Speaker 8: how they're all going to kind of merge their different
- 6:14Speaker 8: philosophies and ideas. I still just kind of feel like
- 6:18Speaker 8: I'm holding my breath to see how that all kind
- 6:20Speaker 8: of turns out.
- 6:20Speaker 6: Who their quarterback is going to be.
- 6:21Speaker 8: I mean, there's so many players to be added, and
- 6:24Speaker 8: you know, they certainly have added a bunch of coaches
- 6:26Speaker 8: that have been around the league. But you know, nobody
- 6:28Speaker 8: that says, oh, this guy is a slam dunk. This
- 6:31Speaker 8: is going to take our offense to the next level.
- 6:32Speaker 8: You're hoping that, you know, these guys with varied experience
- 6:35Speaker 8: can all kind of work together and put something new together.
- 6:37Speaker 5: I think, you know, we've been on the right track
- 6:39Speaker 5: because we were just talking last Wait. They really need
- 6:41Speaker 5: some experience. They need some people who've been there, done
- 6:44Speaker 5: that in the room somehow. And I guess they agree.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, it makes sense that ma I could do.
- 6:52Speaker 3: I just don't like the individual. I think there are
- 6:54Speaker 3: other options that I would have preferred. But I can
- 6:58Speaker 3: understand the thought process of an experienced guy to sort
- 7:01Speaker 3: of help some of these guys, because really, Van Pelt
- 7:04Speaker 3: is the only guy they brought in with. Yeah, any
- 7:07Speaker 3: substantial experience anyway, right in Montgomery.
- 7:10Speaker 5: A little right, And Elliott Wolfe is.
- 7:14Speaker 3: He has a little too.
- 7:14Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah, No, he's been with he's been with Green
- 7:16Speaker 6: Bay quite a bit. I mean he seems pretty well respected.
- 7:19Speaker 5: And Elliott, I mean it seems like they're leaning on
- 7:21Speaker 5: Elliott wolf to get this this done.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Yeah, and that makes sense too. He's the only guy
- 7:26Speaker 3: who's worked outside of the building. Yeah, you know, extensively,
- 7:29Speaker 3: you know.
- 7:30Speaker 5: And and and this is the way the NFL works, though,
- 7:33Speaker 5: whether it's good or bad. Like everybody you know, falls
- 7:38Speaker 5: back to their comfort level. They fall back to people
- 7:41Speaker 5: that they worked with before that they know how they work,
- 7:44Speaker 5: they know their philosophy, and it's you know, it's a
- 7:47Speaker 5: comfort level in the NFL. And once you're in, if
- 7:51Speaker 5: you you know, if you don't burn any bridges, you'll
- 7:53Speaker 5: always have a job, you know, with your connections.
- 7:56Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, I mean it's it's like I said, I mean,
- 7:59Speaker 8: you know, there's part of me that's certainly just intrigued
- 8:01Speaker 8: that they have, you know, I mean, you know, where
- 8:03Speaker 8: was like a Bob McAdoo type a couple of years
- 8:05Speaker 8: ago when they had Matt Patricia. You know, where was
- 8:07Speaker 8: that kind of experienced, offensive guy to oversee things a
- 8:10Speaker 8: little bit.
- 8:10Speaker 5: Because building build the same thing. But you know, his circle.
- 8:14Speaker 5: He wanted to stay within his circle. And you know,
- 8:16Speaker 5: people don't want to come to work every day and
- 8:18Speaker 5: have to fight, you know, they want to come to
- 8:20Speaker 5: work with people but you know, are on the same
- 8:23Speaker 5: page and it's not a philosophical discussion every day. They
- 8:27Speaker 5: just want smoothness, you know, because there's enough to deal
- 8:31Speaker 5: with with the players. They don't want to have to
- 8:33Speaker 5: deal with each other. Yeah, And so there is that
- 8:35Speaker 5: fall back to, you know, what's comfortable. What do I
- 8:37Speaker 5: know they don't want to take risks, and that may
- 8:41Speaker 5: you know, a lot of people might think that's not
- 8:43Speaker 5: a good thing.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Now, you know, I feel like you should take a
- 8:46Speaker 1: little bit of risk, especially with the way that the
- 8:48Speaker 1: NFL has evolved over the past few years, especially in
- 8:50Speaker 1: the types of quarterbacks you're even seeing. It's like, I'm
- 8:53Speaker 1: hoping that by hiring maybe you're hiring some some old
- 8:56Speaker 1: school people who have been there before, a lot of experience.
- 8:59Speaker 1: But I do they're open to taking some risks because
- 9:01Speaker 1: it's so different.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Well, I think the biggest risk that the Patriots did
- 9:04Speaker 5: was Gerard Mayo.
- 9:06Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I mean.
- 9:07Speaker 5: That's a big risk, you know, and now we're trying
- 9:09Speaker 5: to make sure that that risk pays off. You know.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I am intrigued because I wasn't hearing for you guys
- 9:16Speaker 1: emergency podcast on Friday with the hiring of the coordinators.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I am intrigued to see, you know why they hired
- 9:21Speaker 1: him so fast, you know, after one interview, just they
- 9:24Speaker 1: were so intrigued by him that they hired him so fast.
- 9:26Speaker 5: I didn't let him out of the room.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Yeah, when there's so many people like Eric Bin and me,
- 9:30Speaker 1: for example, It's like, why don't you bring him in
- 9:31Speaker 1: and at least talk to him, because he's been a
- 9:33Speaker 1: guy who's been up for you know, head coaching jobs.
- 9:35Speaker 3: For a while.
- 9:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:36Speaker 8: Yeah, And I'm just wondering how much input Girod Mayo's
- 9:39Speaker 8: gonna have in the offense. And you know, what's just
- 9:40Speaker 8: this is, you know, what are those I mean, we don't,
- 9:43Speaker 8: we won't know, but what are the conversations like what
- 9:45Speaker 8: does he want? Like what is he looking for? Or
- 9:47Speaker 8: is he going to just be like all right, I
- 9:49Speaker 8: trust you guys, you're gonna have to kind of run
- 9:50Speaker 8: with this. I mean, I hope that's not how it is.
- 9:52Speaker 8: I hope that, you know, Girod at least has some
- 9:54Speaker 8: kind of overriding offensive philosophy that he's looking to see
- 9:57Speaker 8: them implement. But he's got some experien coaches, and I mean,
- 10:01Speaker 8: I'm just intrigued generally to get out when we get
- 10:04Speaker 8: to see these guys playing, just to see how it
- 10:06Speaker 8: looks different than you know, what we've seen from I
- 10:08Speaker 8: know they've had different offenses, offensive coordinators, they've changed a
- 10:11Speaker 8: little bit, but I think it was still kind of
- 10:13Speaker 8: generally the same what what what is this offense going
- 10:15Speaker 8: to be?
- 10:15Speaker 6: How are they going to build it from?
- 10:17Speaker 8: You know, from the early days of off season training
- 10:19Speaker 8: activities to you know, me camp and you're.
- 10:22Speaker 5: Looking for a sneak peek into what Alex van Pelt does.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Evan Lazarre has I don't know if it's ten thousand
- 10:28Speaker 5: words plus video on pagris dot com. He went in
- 10:32Speaker 5: depth on what Alex van Pelt has done. So that's
- 10:36Speaker 5: a it's a good read if you want to get
- 10:38Speaker 5: really technical with a good job by him.
- 10:42Speaker 8: But we'll see what he takes from it from those things,
- 10:44Speaker 8: and you know, does it does it have to marry
- 10:46Speaker 8: to something that jirob believes in?
- 10:47Speaker 5: Or you know, does it have to marry to whoever
- 10:49Speaker 5: the quarterbacks?
- 10:49Speaker 1: That's what I was gonna say. I feel like it's
- 10:51Speaker 1: going to have to marry to whoever you pick.
- 10:53Speaker 6: Right, And it does.
- 10:54Speaker 8: I mean, I'm seeing things too that McAdoo, I guess
- 10:56Speaker 8: has some some respect as a talent evaluator, and so
- 10:59Speaker 8: I like seeing those things. I mean, I just I
- 11:01Speaker 8: think that's the biggest thing is, you know, more than
- 11:03Speaker 8: like what offense are they going to install? It's just like,
- 11:06Speaker 8: how can they nail this draft with like four guys?
- 11:08Speaker 8: How can they hit four players that can come in
- 11:11Speaker 8: and contribute immediately? I mean I think that's yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 11:16Speaker 8: tough No, that's I mean that that would be the bar, right, Like,
- 11:18Speaker 8: that's like that's kind of like the goal, right, Steelers
- 11:22Speaker 8: to me, you have to hit on three three. All right,
- 11:25Speaker 8: I'm a little bit of a moss demanding, I guess,
- 11:27Speaker 8: but in a third overall pick, you can't.
- 11:29Speaker 6: You can't make you three.
- 11:30Speaker 5: I'm talking about quarterback, wide receiver, and tackle. Yeah right, yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 3: I just need them to get a good player or
- 11:37Speaker 3: two and like, let's baby steps four. We're knocking it
- 11:40Speaker 3: out of the park.
- 11:40Speaker 6: Yeah, Hey, what do you want me to do?
- 11:42Speaker 5: I go shoot for the skin, shoot for the stars.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Tough grader.
- 11:46Speaker 5: Well, if that that fourth guy can be just a contributor,
- 11:49Speaker 5: he doesn't have to be you know, uh.
- 11:52Speaker 6: Well, just start with the first two picks.
- 11:54Speaker 8: I mean, even if you stay a third overall, in
- 11:56Speaker 8: thirty fourth or thirty third, I mean, you know, I
- 11:59Speaker 8: don't think it's too much much to ask that those
- 12:00Speaker 8: two guys step right in. So there's two I mean,
- 12:03Speaker 8: that's you know, that's the baseline. If you if you
- 12:05Speaker 8: don't have at least those two guys.
- 12:07Speaker 3: They'll play. I mean they're gonna, I agree, they'll step
- 12:09Speaker 3: right in. I'm talking about like knocking them out of
- 12:11Speaker 3: the park, nailing the picks. Yeah, that's hard for you know,
- 12:16Speaker 3: four guys that Oh.
- 12:18Speaker 6: Yeah, we do, Paul, We're due.
- 12:20Speaker 5: No, but I don't know.
- 12:21Speaker 3: If we look back at too many drafts and see
- 12:23Speaker 3: that many like knock out of the parks.
- 12:26Speaker 8: Ah, well, what about like I mean, O three, they
- 12:29Speaker 8: got Copham's starting center, A Sante Samuel stepped right in
- 12:32Speaker 8: at corner and contributed I mean not maybe not star
- 12:35Speaker 8: Ty Warren.
- 12:36Speaker 5: Yep, those are three good contributor.
- 12:39Speaker 3: I think you could do that.
- 12:40Speaker 8: Sure, yeah, there's opportunities though, you know, I mean you
- 12:44Speaker 8: can you have to tackle.
- 12:45Speaker 5: We're looking for a franchise quarterback. Eugene was a wide receiver.
- 12:49Speaker 5: Aren't we looking for a wide receiver? One?
- 12:52Speaker 3: Sure, yeah, but that's that's what I'm talking about. Tackle
- 12:55Speaker 3: you can get, you can get like a guy who
- 12:56Speaker 3: plays tackle right and right, and you can get Ty Warren,
- 13:01Speaker 3: But are you going to get Jamar Chase?
- 13:05Speaker 1: So what do we make of the report? That has
- 13:06Speaker 1: came out, what was it three days ago of saying
- 13:09Speaker 1: that if if Elliot Wolf is running the show, that
- 13:12Speaker 1: the Patriots will take a good hard look at drafting
- 13:14Speaker 1: a tackle at three.
- 13:15Speaker 3: I don't.
- 13:15Speaker 8: I mean, I'm Paul and I were the same. I
- 13:18Speaker 8: just I don't think you can draft a tackle it three.
- 13:20Speaker 5: Why did they say, why did they draw the correlation
- 13:24Speaker 5: between Wolf and tackle? That's just his style? Or like,
- 13:28Speaker 5: how do we know that?
- 13:28Speaker 8: I mean, my my, What I was assuming the point
- 13:31Speaker 8: they were trying to make is that's kind of like
- 13:32Speaker 8: Green the Green Bay.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I think it was a report, you know, like with
- 13:35Speaker 3: someone saying that that they had talked to somebody. Wasn't
- 13:39Speaker 3: it the athletic athletic? Yeah, So I don't know.
- 13:44Speaker 6: I just think it's hard to take a tackle of three.
- 13:46Speaker 8: And I mean, and whoever's mock draft went out yesterday
- 13:48Speaker 8: on NFL that coming there are nine tackles in the
- 13:50Speaker 8: first round. So it's you know, it's just it goes
- 13:54Speaker 8: like this is the bigger philosophy discussion, and the same
- 13:56Speaker 8: thing applies to Marvin Harrison and this receiver draft class
- 14:00Speaker 8: is when you have a big group of guys, how
- 14:03Speaker 8: do we feel about get the best one versus we
- 14:07Speaker 8: can get one of these guys and we'll be fine.
- 14:08Speaker 8: Like at this point, I kind of am like, if
- 14:11Speaker 8: we stay at three, I think I'm saying it should
- 14:13Speaker 8: be Marvin Harrison right now as we sit at three,
- 14:16Speaker 8: if you stay there, that that that to me, regardless
- 14:19Speaker 8: of everything that's being overthought about drafting a wide receiver,
- 14:23Speaker 8: like you have a chance at one of two probably
- 14:26Speaker 8: generational players.
- 14:27Speaker 6: I mean, I said similar stuff to this on Friday.
- 14:28Speaker 8: But yeah, well, and you can point to everything there's
- 14:31Speaker 8: there's there's plenty of tackles that went in the top
- 14:33Speaker 8: round that never won, won in the playoffs.
- 14:35Speaker 6: There's wide receivers that never won.
- 14:36Speaker 3: I saw some reports out of the Senior Ball that
- 14:38Speaker 3: there's at least three guys that do not believe that
- 14:41Speaker 3: Marvin Harrison is the best wide receiver in the draft.
- 14:44Speaker 5: When you say guys, you mean other scouts.
- 14:46Speaker 3: NFL teams. According to this guy that I saw on
- 14:49Speaker 3: Twitter yesterday, three different teams have said that they have
- 14:55Speaker 3: Molik Neighbors ahead of I don't, I.
- 14:57Speaker 6: Mean, I don't totally Harrison disagree with that.
- 14:59Speaker 5: If that's that's the case, then Marvin Harrison hype was no,
- 15:03Speaker 5: it was just hype because.
- 15:05Speaker 3: I don't think I think he's really good.
- 15:07Speaker 5: I know, I know, but we were told there's no
- 15:09Speaker 5: one even close. It's a no brain.
- 15:11Speaker 3: That's that's where I have been sort of reluctant to embrace.
- 15:15Speaker 3: But now, how much better is he than than a
- 15:18Speaker 3: done say in Neighbors and.
- 15:20Speaker 5: We were told I was in lad Ma Conker and
- 15:22Speaker 5: we were told, you know, months ago, there's not even
- 15:25Speaker 5: a comparison. It's him and everybody else.
- 15:28Speaker 8: Well, I mean, I just how long have you sit
- 15:30Speaker 8: here asking how do we get a number one receiver?
- 15:32Speaker 8: And we've got all these like fu Cockta methods of
- 15:34Speaker 8: what we'll trade for a guy going into his fifth
- 15:36Speaker 8: year method, you know, his fifth year. Oh, we'll go
- 15:39Speaker 8: trade a second round for a J. Brown, And get like,
- 15:42Speaker 8: isn't there an argument to be made, like hey, let's
- 15:45Speaker 8: just stop looking for the number one receiver and get
- 15:46Speaker 8: them like, you know, there is maybe and maybe Neighbors isn't.
- 15:49Speaker 8: And I'll be the first to say that when I
- 15:51Speaker 8: come to these guys with the blank state.
- 15:52Speaker 6: I watched Neighbors and I was like, holy crap, this
- 15:54Speaker 6: guy is really really good.
- 15:55Speaker 3: And that's when you.
- 15:58Speaker 6: Like this Knabbors, who's this guy?
- 16:00Speaker 8: So, I mean, I get, I get what Paul is saying,
- 16:02Speaker 8: but it's at the same time, it's like, and as
- 16:04Speaker 8: much as I'm a guy who kind of beats the
- 16:06Speaker 8: drum of like every year, second third round, take a
- 16:07Speaker 8: receiver developed, you know.
- 16:09Speaker 6: But there's a big difference between those time and in.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Fairness, if you pass on Harrison at three, you you're
- 16:16Speaker 3: gonna have a hard time being in position to get
- 16:18Speaker 3: neighbors or to say, because those guys are going to
- 16:20Speaker 3: go in the top ten too.
- 16:21Speaker 5: Well, that's for sure. So like, let's just say you
- 16:24Speaker 5: take a receiver at three, what are you left with
- 16:27Speaker 5: at the top of the second round. I think you
- 16:30Speaker 5: can still get a pretty good tackle, right.
- 16:32Speaker 3: I would think so, But I would think.
- 16:34Speaker 8: I mean, but now that lock you could be the
- 16:36Speaker 8: tenth you could have the tenth best tackle at that point.
- 16:39Speaker 5: So now we're through two rounds and we don't have
- 16:42Speaker 5: a quarterback, and that's what people are aware of about it.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Now Now I'm like, I feel like I'm even more
- 16:46Speaker 1: like confused because with the Commanders taking Cliff Kingsbury, then
- 16:51Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, it's Drake Meg and I'm Drake May,
- 16:53Speaker 1: is Caro Williams going there? And then is Drake Meygan
- 16:55Speaker 1: be available at three? And then do you take him
- 16:57Speaker 1: at three?
- 16:58Speaker 6: Yeah? Now, I'm just those are the out cards.
- 17:00Speaker 8: I mean, I think if Drake May was available or
- 17:02Speaker 8: Cable like, yes, I would, I would take him. But
- 17:04Speaker 8: I just in terms of what's worth taking at three,
- 17:06Speaker 8: I would just say go for the number one receiver.
- 17:09Speaker 8: Like you know, I think it's too soon to take
- 17:10Speaker 8: a tackle, but you know, I just you're not going
- 17:13Speaker 8: to come out of this draft like knowing we checked
- 17:15Speaker 8: all three of those.
- 17:16Speaker 5: What if you draft down and you can you draft
- 17:20Speaker 5: down and end up with two first round picks? Is
- 17:23Speaker 5: there a way to do that?
- 17:24Speaker 3: Trade down and get two first round picks within this year?
- 17:28Speaker 3: Does anybody, I mean anyone happens to Chicago the only
- 17:30Speaker 3: team with two picks?
- 17:32Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 17:32Speaker 3: Yeah, so no, no, but I did get someone in
- 17:36Speaker 3: the mail bag today.
- 17:37Speaker 5: But you could draft down, get a second. You know,
- 17:40Speaker 5: you get the pick that you trade with in the
- 17:42Speaker 5: first and with that extra pick, you package your second
- 17:46Speaker 5: in that to get back and get.
- 17:47Speaker 6: Back up and grab one of the quarterbacks or but
- 17:50Speaker 6: then what are you going to do?
- 17:51Speaker 5: Well, then you could get a good tackle and a
- 17:53Speaker 5: good wide receiver in the first round, and then you know,
- 17:58Speaker 5: we're still left with trying to get ay.
- 18:00Speaker 3: That's kind of my point, like you're ending up with
- 18:03Speaker 3: still the same quarterback problem and probably the wide receiver
- 18:06Speaker 3: that you could.
- 18:07Speaker 5: Have gone in a second you go.
- 18:08Speaker 8: The veteran free agent route, or yeah, you know, I
- 18:11Speaker 8: mean I think my head says, trade down a little bit,
- 18:14Speaker 8: take one of the top three four tackles, you know,
- 18:17Speaker 8: and try to pick up some additional you know, day
- 18:20Speaker 8: two kind of capital that you can if you want
- 18:22Speaker 8: to move back up a little.
- 18:23Speaker 3: So along those lines, and this is what I was
- 18:25Speaker 3: starting to say about the mail bag. A guy wrote in,
- 18:27Speaker 3: and we've had a lot of that trade down. They
- 18:30Speaker 3: might kind of started it, you know, because he wants
- 18:32Speaker 3: the trade down now, and I'm not Normally I I
- 18:37Speaker 3: go all Eric Scalavino, and I do not want any
- 18:39Speaker 3: part of trading down. But I do understand in this
- 18:41Speaker 3: particular situation, if you don't like the quarterback that you're
- 18:45Speaker 3: left with at three, then maybe moving down is the
- 18:48Speaker 3: right thing. But specifically with Chicago, to go from three
- 18:52Speaker 3: to nine. And he brought up Justin Fields the email.
- 18:58Speaker 3: You know, I would give his name, but I forget
- 19:00Speaker 3: the name of the poster who sent that into the
- 19:03Speaker 3: mailbag today. And I hadn't really heard anything specific to well,
- 19:07Speaker 3: I just see a trade down, take a tackle, you
- 19:09Speaker 3: know whatever. But this is specifically trade down from three
- 19:13Speaker 3: to nine and get Justin Fields. And they say they're
- 19:17Speaker 3: looking for like a second or third round pick. So
- 19:19Speaker 3: if you give them three to switch places with nine,
- 19:23Speaker 3: now they have to give you stuff, you know, and
- 19:26Speaker 3: if you can maybe hold them over a barrel and
- 19:30Speaker 3: get some because they probably would take Harrison, you know,
- 19:33Speaker 3: with their first pick. So then if you can get
- 19:37Speaker 3: you know, to nine, you could get a really good
- 19:42Speaker 3: tackle or a really good wide receiver, whatever one you
- 19:45Speaker 3: think is better, and probably add some other picks. But
- 19:48Speaker 3: now that's contingent on you thinking Justin Fields is the
- 19:52Speaker 3: veteran guide that you want to bring in. Yeah, yeah,
- 19:54Speaker 3: And I don't think that everybody is in agreement on.
- 19:57Speaker 8: That, no, And I mean it's just it's so hard
- 19:59Speaker 8: to watch the pre go by with all the tackles,
- 20:01Speaker 8: with how badly you need a tackle, and to say
- 20:03Speaker 8: we've got a generational kind of class potentially we'll see
- 20:06Speaker 8: how it works out.
- 20:07Speaker 3: You're right, because they're just like every other position, there's
- 20:10Speaker 3: gonna be some that hit and some that are gonna miss.
- 20:12Speaker 5: You're gonna get your Robert Gallery and you're gonna get
- 20:15Speaker 5: your Jeremy Tunzel.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Laramie Tunzel. What's that Laramie Lamy hunting him as a hit?
- 20:23Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly, So you get one or the other.
- 20:25Speaker 8: Yeah, No, it's uh. And I mean I feel, you know,
- 20:27Speaker 8: similar about the wide receiver. It's more so just the top,
- 20:30Speaker 8: you know, group of them. I feel like you get
- 20:31Speaker 8: past a certain point. But it's it's limited quarterbacks this year,
- 20:35Speaker 8: and I don't know, I just to be honest, I
- 20:37Speaker 8: don't really beyond like May and and you know, Daniel's
- 20:41Speaker 8: Like it's hard to really love bo Nix or JJ McCarthy.
- 20:45Speaker 1: After what I saw last week at the Senior Bowl.
- 20:47Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean the kid from Tennessee, Joe Milton, like,
- 20:49Speaker 8: you know, like it's these guys, these guys aren't going
- 20:51Speaker 8: to be a star quarter back in the NFL that's
- 20:54Speaker 8: gonna take you to the you know.
- 20:55Speaker 5: So maybe we can trade for Connor Stetson or whatever
- 20:58Speaker 5: his n sets and.
- 20:59Speaker 6: Bennetts Oh oh, yeah, from him lats.
- 21:03Speaker 1: No, it's enough for me.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Connor stets On, Connor, I don't know where I get that.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right from what I saw this in your bowl.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Bone Nix was was probably my one of my least
- 21:13Speaker 1: favorites there. Yeah, you just didn't do anything for me.
- 21:15Speaker 6: Rough day for him, rough days.
- 21:17Speaker 5: Yeah, you were down the senior boat working for another company.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Tell us about it.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Wow, yeah, thank you a couple of the company.
- 21:24Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, did you have a good time?
- 21:26Speaker 3: I did.
- 21:27Speaker 1: It was nice to see the sun for once. I
- 21:29Speaker 1: forgot what that looks like. You haven't seen that here
- 21:31Speaker 1: in a month.
- 21:31Speaker 5: Any good victuals down there?
- 21:33Speaker 3: What's that food?
- 21:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah, great seafood, great seafood.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Really Alabama.
- 21:40Speaker 1: It's on the Gulf.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Oh okay, I'm so surprised about that.
- 21:43Speaker 6: To get the soft shell crab.
- 21:45Speaker 1: No, I had some flounder and shrimp.
- 21:47Speaker 5: It was.
- 21:48Speaker 1: It was so good.
- 21:49Speaker 8: Cape Cott I used to catch those, Okay, you know,
- 21:53Speaker 8: great drop reel.
- 21:55Speaker 6: Sit there on the albatross.
- 21:57Speaker 5: I went out of oh my god, the albatross.
- 21:59Speaker 6: Ready come on.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Parts of this, but my favorite part of this was
- 22:07Speaker 1: seeing guys like Roman Wilson, seeing them outside of their
- 22:10Speaker 1: offensive script. I think when you look at who he
- 22:13Speaker 1: had at quarterback, very limited in what he was able
- 22:15Speaker 1: to do. Obviously, they won a national championship, respecting that,
- 22:18Speaker 1: but seeing him be able to go out there and
- 22:20Speaker 1: compete with those dbs, especially on those deep balls, was
- 22:23Speaker 1: probably my favorite part because you don't get to see
- 22:24Speaker 1: that with him at Michigan.
- 22:25Speaker 5: He moved up a little as a result of the Senior.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Bowl, and I'd be curious to see those kinds of things,
- 22:33Speaker 3: like how much movement there is for the Senior or
- 22:36Speaker 3: like or like most of the good players aren't there.
- 22:39Speaker 5: And we took we took Sebastian Vollmore because of his.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Hey, Ramondre Stevenson is from the Senior Ball as well,
- 22:45Speaker 1: but I and guys like Spencer Round there are not
- 22:46Speaker 1: a lot of talent around him at South Carolina, for example,
- 22:49Speaker 1: but he had a solid week. Not saying that I
- 22:52Speaker 1: would pick him at three, obviously, but I think it
- 22:55Speaker 1: gives opportunities for guys like that who didn't have the
- 22:58Speaker 1: most talent around them or limited talent around them at
- 23:01Speaker 1: their school a better chance.
- 23:02Speaker 3: And don't misunderstand, I'm not suggesting that you don't have
- 23:05Speaker 3: good players at all in the SEEA Bowl. I'm saying,
- 23:07Speaker 3: how much does guys really have their draft status impacted
- 23:13Speaker 3: by a week of kind of structured practices, You know
- 23:17Speaker 3: what I mean, That's all I ask him. Roman Wilson's
- 23:22Speaker 3: a good player. And you know, if you look at
- 23:25Speaker 3: their games, their semi final win over Alabama, he made
- 23:28Speaker 3: the by far the biggest play of the game, that
- 23:30Speaker 3: catch that extended that game winning drive or game tying drive,
- 23:35Speaker 3: I should say, was the player of the game. You know,
- 23:38Speaker 3: he was a really productive player for them. I just
- 23:41Speaker 3: wonder if does he have to go, Like I understand,
- 23:43Speaker 3: like the smaller school guys that have some questions about
- 23:46Speaker 3: their their their competition, Yeah they can. They can help themselves.
- 23:50Speaker 5: You know who you know who did well? Who? My guy?
- 23:55Speaker 1: He was my favorite.
- 23:56Speaker 3: I already made fun of Lad mcconky.
- 23:57Speaker 6: He I think this really Lad McConkie, I just can't
- 24:01Speaker 6: get over it.
- 24:02Speaker 3: It is so different.
- 24:05Speaker 1: He gave all the dbs there, especially in one on ones,
- 24:07Speaker 1: like a run for their money. And I don't know
- 24:09Speaker 1: what it is about. Yes, like he wasn't like he's welcome. Yeah,
- 24:13Speaker 1: Like he's not like huge, Like he's not like a
- 24:16Speaker 1: big wide receiver like a Tess Walker from you and see.
- 24:18Speaker 1: But I thought when he had his opportunities out there,
- 24:21Speaker 1: he made the most of it.
- 24:22Speaker 5: Get open, catch the ball. Two main things about being
- 24:25Speaker 5: a received.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Don't forget blocking. Oh we don't have to worry.
- 24:27Speaker 8: I mean you remember Fred bringing up Lab McConkie like
- 24:30Speaker 8: two years ago, Like he just kept saying Lab McConkie.
- 24:33Speaker 6: He just kept saying it. I now, finally here he comes.
- 24:35Speaker 6: He's great, he's gone for this county.
- 24:39Speaker 5: I do, guys said, I really identified.
- 24:41Speaker 3: How many rounds normally do well, how many rounds earlier
- 24:44Speaker 3: than he should? Will he be drafted? Oh I got
- 24:48Speaker 3: under it too.
- 24:48Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, no, he'll be a third round pick.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Yeah, should be a seventh.
- 24:52Speaker 6: Yeah, I was gonna say two fifth.
- 24:54Speaker 1: He's giving like a hunter run fro vibes.
- 24:57Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly, And that's not interest.
- 25:00Speaker 8: And you know when I was I was kind of
- 25:01Speaker 8: on guys like that last year a little bit. I
- 25:04Speaker 8: think you got Douglas for I'll take Roman Wilson for
- 25:08Speaker 8: that role.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:08Speaker 5: No, every quarterback needs a banky Roman Wilson's, but.
- 25:13Speaker 3: As a slot guy, he's a binky.
- 25:15Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 3: If we want a Binky.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I'd rather just get Jacoby Myers back.
- 25:20Speaker 5: What cha, Kobe? Did you hear the interview yesterday?
- 25:23Speaker 3: That was tremendous?
- 25:24Speaker 5: One million dollars took was a million.
- 25:28Speaker 3: That was a really good. Usually that Super Bowl stuff
- 25:31Speaker 3: is just fluff. No, it was good, guys and stuff.
- 25:34Speaker 5: He was so good.
- 25:36Speaker 3: And by the way, Thomas Dimittruck was really good.
- 25:39Speaker 5: Yeah, he was really good. I think he might have
- 25:42Speaker 5: had like ten cups of coffee before.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Oh. Yeah, you know what's funny? Yeah, you know how
- 25:47Speaker 3: I always relate all these things to the different features
- 25:49Speaker 3: that I've written. One hundred years ago, we did one,
- 25:52Speaker 3: you know, like we set up for the draft, and
- 25:55Speaker 3: that's that's the guy. I remember, the same guy like
- 25:59Speaker 3: like some words a minute, like just all over the place.
- 26:02Speaker 3: But when you get him down, like you focus in
- 26:06Speaker 3: his recall to some of that stuff yesterday was really
- 26:08Speaker 3: Did you catch that?
- 26:09Speaker 6: I didn't get I just saw some of the highlights.
- 26:11Speaker 3: I saw it like at night when they were playing
- 26:13Speaker 3: the replay. I happened to like be clicking around and
- 26:16Speaker 3: I just stumbled on it and I was like, oh,
- 26:17Speaker 3: that's Thomas Dimatrof, And I started listening. I was like Wow,
- 26:20Speaker 3: this is really good. He started talking about analytics and
- 26:22Speaker 3: his company that he's.
- 26:23Speaker 6: In all that.
- 26:23Speaker 5: But that was good. But he also I think had
- 26:26Speaker 5: a pretty good read on what happened with Belichick and
- 26:29Speaker 5: the Falcons, you know, because.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Obviously that must have been at the beginning.
- 26:32Speaker 5: He knows all those guys because they're still there, and.
- 26:35Speaker 3: I missed that.
- 26:36Speaker 5: It was absolutely, you know, they were they didn't want
- 26:39Speaker 5: Bill coming in and taking their jobs or taking their power,
- 26:43Speaker 5: you know, So I believe that was the case.
- 26:45Speaker 3: I believe that was the next too.
- 26:47Speaker 6: Yeah, it was. It cracks me up.
- 26:48Speaker 5: Certainly, wasn't too big, like Mike Vrabel.
- 26:51Speaker 3: You hear that, Okay, so yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 26:55Speaker 3: be I'm gonna be good on that. I'm sorry. I
- 26:58Speaker 3: just like, I don't doubt that Rabel said that, Like
- 27:02Speaker 3: he don't say that, but Rabel maybe felt, Yeah, like
- 27:05Speaker 3: he's relaying that to youself. Okay, do you really think
- 27:09Speaker 3: that someone didn't hire him because he's big?
- 27:11Speaker 5: That's stupid, that he's too intimidating.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, maybe, but that's personality, right, because he does
- 27:18Speaker 3: have an intimidating personality. He's the smartest guy in the
- 27:20Speaker 3: room all the time.
- 27:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:23Speaker 6: And he's not afraid to bust your balls.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Yeah right, And he's not afraid to tell you that's
- 27:27Speaker 3: my point.
- 27:27Speaker 5: He'll tell you straight out.
- 27:29Speaker 3: And that may have rubbed people the wrong way, but
- 27:31Speaker 3: I don't think it's because he's so big. I mean,
- 27:34Speaker 3: who knows. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know.
- 27:36Speaker 5: It's a large human being.
- 27:38Speaker 3: He's a big guy.
- 27:40Speaker 6: Yeah, he's got those thirty six inchil arms.
- 27:42Speaker 3: You know, I feel like I'm the only one that
- 27:43Speaker 3: loves I love.
- 27:45Speaker 6: Him what I love.
- 27:46Speaker 8: I just I was gonna say though, I think it's funny,
- 27:48Speaker 8: like like Felgrim Mass got both those guys right to
- 27:50Speaker 8: Metrov went on with and then Yeah, and it's funny
- 27:52Speaker 8: because like I'm looking at the picture and it's like,
- 27:54Speaker 8: you know, they have like.
- 27:54Speaker 6: The officials, but you know, what is it the flagship?
- 27:57Speaker 8: You know, they have the Patriots thing, and I mean,
- 27:59Speaker 8: I'm sure Dimitrov and Jacoby kind of are aware of it,
- 28:01Speaker 8: but like for the people that don't realize, like what
- 28:03Speaker 8: they're walking into felt like you're walking into like this
- 28:06Speaker 8: whole soap opera that they have going on that you're
- 28:08Speaker 8: now a part of, and that.
- 28:09Speaker 3: You have really good.
- 28:12Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, and.
- 28:13Speaker 3: I don't like that stuff. That's not for me, Like
- 28:15Speaker 3: I don't need like the whole.
- 28:17Speaker 6: Right, and they're like a shake drink or.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Something selling and like he's making his way that stuff.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Fret's Fred's nailing it. That stuff was really interesting.
- 28:26Speaker 5: It was good. But I was a little disappointed Felger
- 28:28Speaker 5: because he was asking my he talked about the lateral
- 28:30Speaker 5: and and Felger said, do you think that's the reason
- 28:33Speaker 5: why they didn't resign you? Felger knows better, Like he
- 28:36Speaker 5: was the originator of the mac Jones five. The reason
- 28:40Speaker 5: why one of the reasons why the didn't resign him
- 28:42Speaker 5: because he spoke out right.
- 28:43Speaker 3: He also knew that that didn't have anything to do
- 28:45Speaker 3: with it, but he wanted to hear him say it.
- 28:46Speaker 3: But why didn't he say, like, you know, you should
- 28:48Speaker 3: have brought that.
- 28:49Speaker 5: You were vocal. Why do you think that had anything
- 28:51Speaker 5: to do with you? Not?
- 28:52Speaker 3: He should have brought that up.
- 28:53Speaker 6: Absolutely, he asked some of them Mac at All generally
- 28:57Speaker 6: a little bit.
- 28:57Speaker 5: No, No, I don't think he did. He talked about
- 29:00Speaker 5: juju Smith Schuster though.
- 29:02Speaker 6: Yeah, I saw what he said about juju football to.
- 29:06Speaker 8: Him, Yeah, you're not wrong.
- 29:09Speaker 6: Yeah, it's about right.
- 29:10Speaker 5: But I thought that was good. And you know, like
- 29:12Speaker 5: if you can get four more days of those types
- 29:14Speaker 5: of interviews, that's worth sending them out.
- 29:16Speaker 3: They'll probably go downhill. But so those are two.
- 29:18Speaker 5: Pretty good Mondays.
- 29:19Speaker 3: I mean in the middle in the middle of that,
- 29:21Speaker 3: I think they had Pete Shepherd on well, especially.
- 29:24Speaker 8: With Bill gone, like you feel like some of these
- 29:26Speaker 8: guys might be a little bit more you know, willing
- 29:28Speaker 8: to come on and yeat rather you know, it's not
- 29:31Speaker 8: you know, they's not going to be held against them
- 29:33Speaker 8: and the Patriots anymore.
- 29:34Speaker 6: It's you know, kind of post mortem.
- 29:36Speaker 5: So yeah, okay, So I thought that was pretty.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Cool demotroph telling that story about how when he first
- 29:42Speaker 3: came and they wanted him to present safeties, right, did
- 29:46Speaker 3: you see that?
- 29:46Speaker 5: I think I did.
- 29:47Speaker 3: So this is back like in the early you know,
- 29:50Speaker 3: the two thousand and three ISHU and he, like Bill
- 29:54Speaker 3: had them all, you know, all the guys had to
- 29:56Speaker 3: like have a different area that they needed to focus on.
- 29:59Speaker 3: And so he's like, you know, pro he was a
- 30:02Speaker 3: pro development guy, pro scout lawyer Malloy was one of
- 30:05Speaker 3: the first guys. He had a break down. He's like
- 30:06Speaker 3: you know, it's Lawyer Maloy, you know, so like I'm
- 30:09Speaker 3: hopefully positive. He's like Bill's like no, nope. And then
- 30:14Speaker 3: you know, Felger chimes in because Felger is really good
- 30:16Speaker 3: at slipping in things that he knows. They came directly
- 30:20Speaker 3: from Bill from when he used to cover the team.
- 30:22Speaker 3: He's like, can't run and you know like, oh yeah, yeah,
- 30:26Speaker 3: Like that's why they they turned away. They felt like
- 30:28Speaker 3: Lawyer had lost a step and that's why they sort
- 30:30Speaker 3: of turned from him. And then he wouldn't you know,
- 30:33Speaker 3: it comes back to the same old thing. It's a
- 30:35Speaker 3: tale old as time. Couldn't get Jacobe Myers because of
- 30:38Speaker 3: a million dollar difference. That was what it was all
- 30:40Speaker 3: about with Lawyer. Yeah, they felt like you couldn't run
- 30:43Speaker 3: as well anymore. But it would have been fine if
- 30:45Speaker 3: he took a little less, right, yeah right, you know,
- 30:47Speaker 3: it wasn't necessarily the player. It was the contract they
- 30:49Speaker 3: didn't like. But Demotrof was like, I'm getting like attacked
- 30:53Speaker 3: on all sides and then they asked him like did
- 30:56Speaker 3: you hit.
- 30:56Speaker 6: On any of those?
- 30:57Speaker 3: He goes, oh yeah, you know, like Eugene Wilson was
- 30:59Speaker 3: one of those guys. Is you know, it's Samuel. You know,
- 31:02Speaker 3: we had some good ones. He goes, oh, so all
- 31:04Speaker 3: the all the good ones were you. He goes, what
- 31:07Speaker 3: about Elis Hobbs. He goes, yeah, that was mine. That
- 31:09Speaker 3: was mine because he was okay, he was okay return right. Yeah,
- 31:13Speaker 3: but it was it was an interesting I thought. And
- 31:16Speaker 3: Fred's right, I mean he was like all jacked up
- 31:20Speaker 3: de meotropes.
- 31:20Speaker 8: He's an interesting dude anyway, really really good guy.
- 31:24Speaker 3: I had a great interview.
- 31:25Speaker 5: He's got a company. It's analytics, but it's not game
- 31:28Speaker 5: situational analytics. They focus on team building analytics. Yeah, so
- 31:32Speaker 5: like it's more who to pick based on analytics rather
- 31:35Speaker 5: than what to call in a game.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Really, it's not about fourth down decisions. It's more about personnel.
- 31:40Speaker 6: Yeah, like personality kind of tests and those kind of thing.
- 31:43Speaker 3: I thought it was more about like the best ways
- 31:46Speaker 3: to build your team in terms.
- 31:47Speaker 5: Of structure building. Yeah huh, I don't know.
- 31:51Speaker 3: But he also he was he was really good. Like Felger,
- 31:54Speaker 3: you know, he despises the analytics and they're talking about
- 31:57Speaker 3: the fourth downs with Detroit and stuff, and fella goes,
- 32:01Speaker 3: you know, when the nerds and he's like, well, just
- 32:03Speaker 3: so you know, you know, I have a bunch of
- 32:05Speaker 3: those guys, and they embrace it. They like being called
- 32:08Speaker 3: nerds because you know, I get the propeller on.
- 32:10Speaker 5: The hell ahead all right, eight five five pats five
- 32:14Speaker 5: hundred of the A Sticket Hotline, web radio at pages
- 32:17Speaker 5: dot com. Is the email address anything else before we
- 32:20Speaker 5: open it up to the listeners. You know, we got
- 32:22Speaker 5: obviously super Bowl this week. They had opening night last night.
- 32:28Speaker 5: I didn't hear any I didn't watch it, but I
- 32:31Speaker 5: didn't hear any big news coming out of that.
- 32:33Speaker 6: It's it's gotten smaller.
- 32:34Speaker 8: I'm like honestly, like I remember, like probably because it
- 32:37Speaker 8: was Patriots, but like you used to be that kind
- 32:38Speaker 8: of during the day and it just felt more accessible.
- 32:41Speaker 3: They changed it, like they changed it tonight a while
- 32:45Speaker 3: when we were still going they changed it tonight.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Do you think of it because of the kind of
- 32:49Speaker 1: head to head with the Grammys almost that it was
- 32:52Speaker 1: kind of small because I feel like the Grammys took
- 32:54Speaker 1: up most of the chunk of everything in the Taylor
- 32:56Speaker 1: Swift news about her album coming out, like it was
- 32:58Speaker 1: just a lot happened that was Sunday, but it was
- 33:03Speaker 1: all the way in La so I'm wondering if like
- 33:04Speaker 1: people like didn't want to go there straight to Vegas,
- 33:06Speaker 1: Like I just feel like there was a lot going on.
- 33:08Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 33:08Speaker 8: I mean, I just I woke up this morning and
- 33:10Speaker 8: all of a sudden, like, oh, Media Night was last night,
- 33:12Speaker 8: Like I completely forgotten.
- 33:14Speaker 5: Well I don't call it Media Knight now open Opening
- 33:16Speaker 5: opening night.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's I've always wondered this, like if it's
- 33:21Speaker 3: just if that's one of those events that truly is
- 33:24Speaker 3: only of interest to the two cities that are involved,
- 33:28Speaker 3: because I could not care less about that whole thing,
- 33:33Speaker 3: like any of that that went.
- 33:34Speaker 6: On, just all the silly questions last night.
- 33:36Speaker 3: And I always think like, well, when we were doing it,
- 33:40Speaker 3: the Patriots fans were eating it up, I would assume,
- 33:43Speaker 3: and you know, in all the different you know, the Rams, Eagles, Panthers,
- 33:46Speaker 3: whoever the case may be. But last night, like I
- 33:50Speaker 3: saw like one quick thing when they had Kittle and
- 33:52Speaker 3: Kelsey together on NFL Network and that was, you know,
- 33:56Speaker 3: kind of goofy funny. But is there any like for
- 34:00Speaker 3: that outside?
- 34:02Speaker 5: I really didn't hear much buzz.
- 34:04Speaker 1: The only thing that came out of it was the
- 34:06Speaker 1: news about the Eagles in Brazil. That was like the
- 34:09Speaker 1: biggest thing that came out of that.
- 34:10Speaker 5: That they're going to host the opening week Friday, that
- 34:14Speaker 5: was like the biggest They're not on our schedule, I know.
- 34:16Speaker 6: I checked.
- 34:17Speaker 3: I was like, wait, wait, you want to go huh.
- 34:19Speaker 5: Well, I not that I think it'd be good for
- 34:22Speaker 5: the team.
- 34:22Speaker 1: You know, but that was the biggest piece of news.
- 34:26Speaker 5: We probably have enough to be dealing with it rather
- 34:28Speaker 5: than getting ready for a game in Brazil Week one. Yeah,
- 34:32Speaker 5: I mean, it's a lot of.
- 34:33Speaker 3: It's interesting that that they're doing it in week one.
- 34:36Speaker 5: It is, that's a lot on a team, I mean, passports,
- 34:40Speaker 5: and it's it's more than just your average road game obviously,
- 34:44Speaker 5: you know. So it is it's a big burden.
- 34:46Speaker 6: And it's gonna be Friday night yep.
- 34:48Speaker 8: Yeah, Thursday kickoff and then it's just nobody's kickoff game.
- 34:54Speaker 8: Maybe the kickoff games Thursday. Then they playing in Brazil.
- 34:57Speaker 3: On fat That's what I was thinking, But I didn't
- 35:00Speaker 3: even really considered you might be right.
- 35:01Speaker 5: No, I think I think it might be Thursday Friday,
- 35:04Speaker 5: raise the banner probably.
- 35:06Speaker 3: I'm telling you, they're working, they're working towards seven nights
- 35:09Speaker 3: a week. They're going to ruin it.
- 35:11Speaker 6: It's gonna be some kind of like permutation. They have
- 35:13Speaker 6: to figure out.
- 35:14Speaker 3: Thing that makes the NFL the greatest is how important
- 35:17Speaker 3: everything is.
- 35:18Speaker 5: But we're so worried about safety. Yep, we're gonna, you know,
- 35:21Speaker 5: have guys playing on five days rass, three days rass.
- 35:25Speaker 3: No, they're not gonna do that far but close, close.
- 35:28Speaker 8: But it's gonna be this weird thing where like like
- 35:30Speaker 8: there's weeks but it's just kind of Oh, I don't
- 35:32Speaker 8: want into each other and I don't want it. Okay,
- 35:34Speaker 8: last night's game was week twelve, but this is now
- 35:37Speaker 8: week thirteen as we play here on this Saturday game.
- 35:39Speaker 6: Something like that.
- 35:39Speaker 5: Well, the other thing that came out is not that
- 35:43Speaker 5: the Chiefs get to play at the Vegas facility, which
- 35:45Speaker 5: is the taj Mahal, but the forty nine ers are
- 35:49Speaker 5: at UNLV and I guess they don't like the field
- 35:51Speaker 5: field the soft Yeah, they say it's too soft.
- 35:53Speaker 6: A lot of rain down there.
- 35:54Speaker 8: I don't if you've been watching the news, La is
- 35:57Speaker 8: like mud slides.
- 35:58Speaker 5: It's not in La.
- 36:01Speaker 9: Oh.
- 36:01Speaker 8: I'm just saying Southwest all right now, it's getting it's
- 36:03Speaker 8: getting pegged.
- 36:04Speaker 6: With the storm.
- 36:04Speaker 5: Well they're getting it's like fifties and forties in terms
- 36:07Speaker 5: of degree, and there's rain and Vegas and you know.
- 36:11Speaker 3: Yeah, well they had a natural grass surface put in
- 36:15Speaker 3: over the top, and I think that's part of the problem.
- 36:18Speaker 5: Just too soft.
- 36:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it's too soft. But I like how they said, like,
- 36:22Speaker 3: you know what, you know what, We're going to be fine,
- 36:24Speaker 3: We're going to deal with it. But then why.
- 36:26Speaker 5: You what is there? I think it was a New
- 36:31Speaker 5: Orleans and we were practicing. I don't think. I don't
- 36:35Speaker 5: think it was Rice, but it might have been. And
- 36:37Speaker 5: we didn't like the field, and they switched us to
- 36:40Speaker 5: another facility.
- 36:41Speaker 6: Yeah, not remember that.
- 36:43Speaker 3: I don't, but I think, yeah, I think it was
- 36:45Speaker 3: the two thousand and one Super Bowl.
- 36:47Speaker 8: There can't be a lot of options around Vegas, imagine,
- 36:49Speaker 8: I mean, UNLV, what else whatever.
- 36:51Speaker 1: No, I remember when I was in Miami when the
- 36:53Speaker 1: Super bowls in Miami put these two teams.
- 36:55Speaker 6: One of them practiced at Miami.
- 36:59Speaker 3: With the univer See in Nevada. Where is that?
- 37:01Speaker 1: It's far? It's like three hours.
- 37:02Speaker 6: Away, Nevada, Nevada.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Yeah, well they're in Las Vegas.
- 37:07Speaker 6: Mike.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Again, they're not in California.
- 37:08Speaker 8: Yeah, they're Vegas desert, no waters lows, you know, I was,
- 37:16Speaker 8: I mean, I just lame anybody in La Like it's
- 37:18Speaker 8: crazy there right now. Like I was watching the news
- 37:20Speaker 8: last night, it's all I mean, all the canyons are
- 37:22Speaker 8: just like flooding and the La River is just feet
- 37:26Speaker 8: raging and it's crazy out there.
- 37:27Speaker 1: It's crazy they save y'all all that rain in a desert.
- 37:31Speaker 6: And then it's like it's just extreme. It's like they
- 37:33Speaker 6: have no rain and all of a sudden it's rain.
- 37:35Speaker 5: But all right, eight five five pasts five hundred, let's
- 37:38Speaker 5: get to the phone. We have people holding on here.
- 37:42Speaker 5: Zach is in California. What's up, Zach? Any mud slides
- 37:45Speaker 5: where you are?
- 37:48Speaker 10: I mean, I would never complain about weather in California.
- 37:52Speaker 10: There were a bunch of people who live in Boston, Okay,
- 37:56Speaker 10: obviously with the with the Super Bowl coming up, with
- 38:00Speaker 10: the Chiefs being in another one for no reason, I
- 38:04Speaker 10: was just hearing a lot of people say that they're
- 38:07Speaker 10: comparing this the Chiefs current dynasty end quotes to what
- 38:13Speaker 10: the Patriots had for so many years. And I know,
- 38:17Speaker 10: but besides spread, none of you really care if the
- 38:19Speaker 10: Chiefs passed the Patriots in terms of dynastic greatness. But
- 38:24Speaker 10: I was wondering, like, what if the Chiefs had gotten
- 38:29Speaker 10: Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes in like twenty ten, what
- 38:34Speaker 10: do you think that decade would have looked like? And
- 38:36Speaker 10: I'll take it off the.
- 38:37Speaker 5: Air, Okay, it's a good question. You know, like twenty ten,
- 38:41Speaker 5: you know, how different was the game then than now?
- 38:44Speaker 5: Or would they the two of those change the game?
- 38:47Speaker 5: You know, is Mahomes that good that he would have
- 38:50Speaker 5: accelerated what we're seeing right now in terms of you know,
- 38:53Speaker 5: the offensive lead. I'd like to bring it back to
- 38:55Speaker 5: two thousand, Like what if Reid in Mahomes were there
- 38:59Speaker 5: back then, when you know, you could still kind of
- 39:03Speaker 5: you know, rough up a receiver and that type of thing,
- 39:06Speaker 5: and they didn't have all the rules that protected the quarterback?
- 39:09Speaker 5: What would it have been back then? They still would
- 39:11Speaker 5: have been great, you know, but that would have been
- 39:14Speaker 5: cool to have you know, him head to head with
- 39:17Speaker 5: Brady back then.
- 39:19Speaker 8: I don't want no thanks, just I like just only
- 39:22Speaker 8: having to deal with Peyton Manning and kind of Philip
- 39:24Speaker 8: Rivers like, but I mean more AFC dominance, and I
- 39:28Speaker 8: mean we'll see with the Chiefs. I mean, they're gonna
- 39:30Speaker 8: write their own story. I think everybody's just always in
- 39:32Speaker 8: such a rush to stack and compare and and you know,
- 39:35Speaker 8: it's it's it's gonna be an interesting story for them,
- 39:38Speaker 8: you know, with what you know, Patrick Mahomes, what is
- 39:40Speaker 8: you know, what if he has a season like Brady
- 39:41Speaker 8: did where he you know, mid mid point of his career,
- 39:43Speaker 8: misses a year, And.
- 39:44Speaker 5: What I won't do is be one of those people
- 39:47Speaker 5: to say, oh, Mahomes wouldn't have been good in that era.
- 39:51Speaker 5: He would have been good in any era. You know.
- 39:53Speaker 8: Yeah, now for sure, that's uh. But we'll see this
- 39:57Speaker 8: week how how they do it would.
- 39:58Speaker 5: Have been the slinging Sammy Baugh if he was playing
- 40:01Speaker 5: back in the forties or whatever, you know he was.
- 40:04Speaker 5: He's just a natural athlete. Armed talent is unparallel, you know,
- 40:10Speaker 5: I would say, Rogers to me, is the only guy
- 40:12Speaker 5: that had comparable arm talent, you know, just strictly armed
- 40:16Speaker 5: at that just you know.
- 40:17Speaker 6: Just such a such athletic guys that you know.
- 40:21Speaker 5: From any ango any slid aren't necessarily runners, but yeah,
- 40:25Speaker 5: picked their spots and can get those critical first downs
- 40:28Speaker 5: with their feet when they have to and just an
- 40:30Speaker 5: unbelievable pocket awareness.
- 40:32Speaker 8: And when the game's on the line. I mean that's
- 40:34Speaker 8: you know, Brady's thing. I mean, Mahomes is deadly.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Deadly in Kansas City in twenty ten, like everything change it,
- 40:43Speaker 3: Like you're just so you're just adding Mahomes and Reid. Yeah,
- 40:46Speaker 3: so were they similarly terrible? Like I think the year
- 40:51Speaker 3: before Reid got there, they were like two and fourteen, So, like,
- 40:56Speaker 3: was that just because they were poorly coached? I don't
- 40:58Speaker 3: think so.
- 40:58Speaker 5: I thought that they're often of line fell apart like
- 41:01Speaker 5: they were. They had this really good O line and
- 41:03Speaker 5: they lost a lot of guys. I don't know, I remember, yeah.
- 41:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure that was at the offensive line.
- 41:09Speaker 5: No, because they were this running team. Remember they had.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Croyle playing quarterback eleven when.
- 41:15Speaker 5: Was Priest Holmes on the team?
- 41:16Speaker 3: Man, oh man, Priest Holmes. That was like early two thousands,
- 41:20Speaker 3: like oh three two also seven years earlier, okay, uh,
- 41:25Speaker 3: eight years earlier. If you're going by twenty ten to
- 41:27Speaker 3: twenty two, you had like, which is a whole different generation.
- 41:31Speaker 6: Maccastle nine year. I mean, you know that's kind of more.
- 41:34Speaker 3: That was the last time I think they were any
- 41:36Speaker 3: good was nine and then there was a like a
- 41:39Speaker 3: gap after that. I think they they fell off in ten.
- 41:43Speaker 3: I think eleven they might have had like Tyler Palko
- 41:47Speaker 3: playing quarterback in a Monday night game here against the Patriots.
- 41:51Speaker 3: And then like I did they Alex Smith?
- 41:56Speaker 6: Would you get there? Like eleven, twelve? Someone in there?
- 41:58Speaker 3: Alex Smith was like thirteen, I want to say, And
- 42:03Speaker 3: that's when they got better because he was a real quarterback.
- 42:06Speaker 5: They started to win games.
- 42:07Speaker 6: Yeah, and they got Kelsey.
- 42:08Speaker 3: And then they brought in Reid like that. That's another
- 42:13Speaker 3: that was another trade. Like people just think, oh, you
- 42:16Speaker 3: just you get the team and then you build it
- 42:17Speaker 3: around him, or you you make a trade for the
- 42:21Speaker 3: former number one overall pick. Who I know, if the
- 42:23Speaker 3: number one overall pick doesn't actually do anything with the
- 42:26Speaker 3: number the team that actually takes him, he's he's irrelevant
- 42:29Speaker 3: from that point on. Alex Smith was a really good player.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Was he great? Was he mahomes No? No, But he
- 42:35Speaker 3: was a really good player who had success with two
- 42:37Speaker 3: different teams.
- 42:38Speaker 5: Don't ask one of our PR people that.
- 42:40Speaker 3: No. I know, it's like a very odd YEA reaction
- 42:44Speaker 3: based on Alex Smith's reputation as around the league as
- 42:48Speaker 3: one of the greatest guys. Ever. Yeah, it's a very
- 42:50Speaker 3: odd Uh.
- 42:51Speaker 6: I'm good with ever.
- 42:53Speaker 5: Oh that is gross, like cottage cheese. Eric's in New Jersey.
- 42:58Speaker 5: What's up, Eric?
- 43:00Speaker 11: Hey, how are you guys doing. I know what you
- 43:03Speaker 11: were talking about the wide receivers. I guess feel like,
- 43:05Speaker 11: you know, kind of harp up my point last week.
- 43:08Speaker 11: I just think there's only a few game breakers as
- 43:09Speaker 11: far as you had the top of the draft. And
- 43:11Speaker 11: I know, Paul you mentioned it earlier, where you know,
- 43:13Speaker 11: if you you know, you trade back, you you may
- 43:15Speaker 11: missed out on one.
- 43:16Speaker 12: Of these guys.
- 43:17Speaker 13: But I was gonna.
- 43:18Speaker 11: Say, you know, with all those trade down talk, and
- 43:20Speaker 11: I know, Paul, you're probably gonna hate this month, but
- 43:22Speaker 11: what do you think about bringing Carson Wentz?
- 43:25Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right, you just want to win, You're right,
- 43:27Speaker 3: I would hate that.
- 43:28Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 43:29Speaker 11: No, I mean, I just think he's such a better
- 43:31Speaker 11: upgrade than than Jakobe. I think you know what Jacobe is.
- 43:35Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean what you with you?
- 43:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I think those are the same. Yeah.
- 43:40Speaker 5: I was gonna say, I don't see much difference there,
- 43:43Speaker 5: you know, And I think Jacoby Risette might make less mistakes.
- 43:50Speaker 11: I just think if you were to draft this, like
- 43:51Speaker 11: I said, if you were to do that second round
- 43:53Speaker 11: or you know whatever, third round, you get that developmental guy.
- 43:55Speaker 11: I think it gives you a chance to at least,
- 43:57Speaker 11: you know, you know, get your wide receivers up the
- 43:59Speaker 11: speeding and even then drafting a wide receiver.
- 44:01Speaker 4: I mean, who there's a log jam.
- 44:03Speaker 11: I mean, you're not. I don't think he's going to
- 44:05Speaker 11: be able to move Parkers.
- 44:06Speaker 5: I'd rather have Gardner Minshew than Carson Wentz.
- 44:08Speaker 3: And I would absolutely and I think nothing of Gardner Minshew,
- 44:13Speaker 3: but absolutely if they just need.
- 44:14Speaker 1: A placeholder, I would love it to be like Kirk Cousins.
- 44:16Speaker 1: But obviously, well that's expensive.
- 44:18Speaker 15: Yeah he's And I just can I just squeeze one
- 44:21Speaker 15: live question in there, Yes, I'll take it off the
- 44:23Speaker 15: line again.
- 44:24Speaker 11: The wide receiver position.
- 44:25Speaker 10: You know, you have pop Juju Parker coming back, and
- 44:29Speaker 10: then you know you can get pretty much get.
- 44:30Speaker 11: Rid of Paquin. And we say, but if you were
- 44:32Speaker 11: to bring a guy in, how do you how are
- 44:34Speaker 11: they going to work with naps? You know, you guys
- 44:36Speaker 11: are talking about bringing in a Berlin Wolfs and the
- 44:38Speaker 11: block guy. You know, how are you going to work
- 44:39Speaker 11: at you know, when you have Juju and Pop working
- 44:42Speaker 11: mainly off the slot. And I'll take it off the
- 44:43Speaker 11: line of thing.
- 44:43Speaker 3: Okay, I think he's better than both of them.
- 44:46Speaker 5: Any one of those guys is dispensing right now.
- 44:49Speaker 3: I think he's better than both. Now he might not
- 44:51Speaker 3: pan out this, you know, there's a risk in the draft,
- 44:54Speaker 3: of course, but I mean think he's more talented than that.
- 44:56Speaker 5: I think the aim should be to bring in a
- 44:58Speaker 5: guy who's better than all of them.
- 45:01Speaker 8: I mean, and that's why I like, I mean, Booty
- 45:02Speaker 8: probably gonna be off the off the team, I would guess,
- 45:05Speaker 8: But I mean, right now you're looking at it. You
- 45:06Speaker 8: got Parker, Thornton, Smith, Schuster.
- 45:08Speaker 6: And Douglas.
- 45:08Speaker 8: I mean, if you like in most rosters, that's your
- 45:11Speaker 8: you know, but you got to push one of these
- 45:13Speaker 8: guys off, like exactly. I think, you know, uh, Douglas
- 45:16Speaker 8: is the only one that is really has a role,
- 45:19Speaker 8: and he's a slot guy. He is, like, you know,
- 45:21Speaker 8: gonna come in on third down and play in the like.
- 45:24Speaker 8: So I I don't know about Parker, like I just
- 45:27Speaker 8: I've kind of like resigned myself that they're just gonna
- 45:29Speaker 8: play Parker at the X this year, and he's gonna
- 45:31Speaker 8: do what he does and I'll be hurt a few games.
- 45:34Speaker 6: You have to get Juju out.
- 45:35Speaker 8: You have to draft a guy that can play the
- 45:37Speaker 8: Z and can move around and play off the line
- 45:39Speaker 8: of scrimmage and do all the kind of Deebo Samuel
- 45:41Speaker 8: stuff but play every down. That That's what like when
- 45:44Speaker 8: I look at the draft, I that's what I would
- 45:46Speaker 8: ideally want is a guy who's explosive, who can do
- 45:49Speaker 8: a bunch of things, that can take handoffs that you know,
- 45:51Speaker 8: all that kind of stuff, and can be the every
- 45:53Speaker 8: down kind of and they don't have that on the run.
- 45:55Speaker 3: And that's another part. Like people always fixate on the
- 45:58Speaker 3: cap space, That's another way cap space can be used,
- 46:02Speaker 3: is you can get out from bad contracts because you
- 46:05Speaker 3: have the cap space to do it. And if Mike
- 46:08Speaker 3: is right, like I look at it, look doesn't mean
- 46:10Speaker 3: I'm right. Roman Wilson might be the next big bust,
- 46:14Speaker 3: who knows, but I don't really see a lot of
- 46:17Speaker 3: comparison between him and to Mario Douglas skills wise, Like
- 46:20Speaker 3: I would be more than happy to have both of
- 46:23Speaker 3: those guys on my team and say goodbye to Juju
- 46:27Speaker 3: in Parker. Now Juju in particular is going to cost
- 46:30Speaker 3: you money to say goodbye to. But you have cap space, yep, and.
- 46:34Speaker 6: You need young guys to step in and play, you know.
- 46:36Speaker 3: Now the Chiefs, by the way, that Matt Castle year
- 46:41Speaker 3: in ten, they went ten and six, and they went
- 46:43Speaker 3: seven to nine and two and fourteen, and that I
- 46:46Speaker 3: think is around the time that that Andy Reid came
- 46:50Speaker 3: a little bit. Yeah, I think Reed came in thirteen
- 46:54Speaker 3: and they went immediately from two and fourteen to eleven
- 46:57Speaker 3: and five with Alex who it was, Todd Haley and
- 47:02Speaker 3: then Romeo Cornell.
- 47:05Speaker 5: Right, Aldred's in North Carolina.
- 47:07Speaker 9: Hey, Aldred, Hey tomorrow, Hey fellows, how y'all doing all right?
- 47:11Speaker 14: Held?
- 47:13Speaker 3: Hey, Paul sir.
- 47:15Speaker 9: I heard you earlier. I agree with you about the
- 47:18Speaker 9: office side who they got, But I don't know why
- 47:20Speaker 9: I got to echo.
- 47:23Speaker 5: You're good on iran.
- 47:25Speaker 3: It sounds sounds great on r N.
- 47:27Speaker 9: Yeah, but I got to echo on money.
- 47:28Speaker 6: Sorry, it's hard to work through. I kind of just
- 47:31Speaker 6: just talk and don't listen to yourself.
- 47:33Speaker 9: But recording to the draft, I hope they do what
- 47:37Speaker 9: d I think this lance guy get Marvin Harris Marvin
- 47:41Speaker 9: Harrison on three. But please don't treat them getting no
- 47:44Speaker 9: bow Nicks. I say, no, next thirty.
- 47:49Speaker 5: No Bonnicks, Yeah, no Bick We're gonna next that.
- 47:53Speaker 9: Yeah, that's good for you. But but Paul, yes, why
- 47:59Speaker 9: was you top of the draft? Yes, Parison, uh do day.
- 48:05Speaker 9: David was about third, and then it was that guy
- 48:08Speaker 9: from text, the other guy you know.
- 48:09Speaker 3: But other than that, that's you know, that really strong,
- 48:13Speaker 3: really strong class. I agree, really strong.
- 48:16Speaker 9: Yeah, but you get Johnny Wilson in the third two
- 48:19Speaker 9: six seven for Florida State and he and that's that's
- 48:23Speaker 9: better than Parker and that's better than and you can
- 48:26Speaker 9: use them all right, but I'll let you go.
- 48:30Speaker 5: You have a good one, okay, Eldrigg in our wide receiver.
- 48:34Speaker 5: It's a big Eldrick.
- 48:35Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of good wide receivers.
- 48:36Speaker 8: I feel I feel kind of insulted, like I just
- 48:39Speaker 8: I did a whole thing and we should draft Marma Harrison.
- 48:40Speaker 8: I didn't even get a shout out from Elt, Like
- 48:42Speaker 8: he just wants to call and yell at me about
- 48:44Speaker 8: when I'm wrong, but like when I come on his
- 48:45Speaker 8: side of the street, he doesn't say, you know.
- 48:47Speaker 6: And I don't get tapped up at all.
- 48:49Speaker 5: Jackson's in Alabama. What's up Jackson?
- 48:52Speaker 16: What some guys?
- 48:53Speaker 17: Hey, Hey, I have a little bone pit with fred
- 48:56Speaker 17: thought a ticket. Why why you why you feel like
- 49:01Speaker 17: there's no good foods here in Alabama?
- 49:04Speaker 3: No seafood.
- 49:07Speaker 18: There's good seafood in Alabama, frad I know, but I don't.
- 49:09Speaker 5: I don't, but I think Alabama. I don't think seafood.
- 49:12Speaker 5: I'm sorry I didn't.
- 49:13Speaker 17: I felt good.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it was, it was great, it was really it's
- 49:16Speaker 1: good food Alabama.
- 49:18Speaker 5: I'm sure there is, absolutely.
- 49:20Speaker 18: I just feel like like sometimes you're not giving Alabamian
- 49:24Speaker 18: to the critics.
- 49:25Speaker 5: Oh listen Mike father in laws from Bruton, and he
- 49:27Speaker 5: made ribs like you would die for die for sure.
- 49:31Speaker 18: Yeah that's yeah, that's the that's the hot spot.
- 49:35Speaker 19: Here, ribbed and barbecue.
- 49:36Speaker 5: So absolutely.
- 49:37Speaker 18: But I just wanted to comment on Jacoby Myers interview.
- 49:43Speaker 18: I was just totally heartbroken with the whole thing. I
- 49:45Speaker 18: just felt like that that's a situation where we have
- 49:49Speaker 18: created this man and he wanted to stay here, and
- 49:51Speaker 18: I just.
- 49:52Speaker 19: Felt heartbroken for him in that situation.
- 49:54Speaker 18: I just wish he was still a patriot, and uh,
- 49:57Speaker 18: we could really.
- 49:57Speaker 14: Use him right now.
- 49:58Speaker 5: I feel heartbroken from me. I think he ended up
- 50:01Speaker 5: in a better place, but we all here we wanted
- 50:04Speaker 5: to keep him. His father was a regular listener and
- 50:07Speaker 5: caller to the show. I mean it was like we
- 50:10Speaker 5: wanted Jacobe Myers, you know.
- 50:13Speaker 18: Yeah, yeah, I totally agree.
- 50:16Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, thanks Jackson. Sorry I insulted all Alabamians. No,
- 50:20Speaker 5: it's just seafood. I don't think of Alabama and seafood,
- 50:23Speaker 5: you know.
- 50:24Speaker 8: But but they're on the ocean. So as long as
- 50:26Speaker 8: you're on the ocean, I'm not going to insult your seafood.
- 50:28Speaker 5: Yeah, that's true, they're in the Gulf.
- 50:30Speaker 8: I've also known too many people who have gotten sick
- 50:31Speaker 8: of red lobster to ever eat like that red lobster.
- 50:34Speaker 5: Listen, they're not a sponsor. They should. The fact that
- 50:38Speaker 5: seafood and red lobster in the same sentences, it's terrible.
- 50:42Speaker 5: They are not.
- 50:44Speaker 1: I did not eat at a chain when I was
- 50:45Speaker 1: in Alabama. Eat like local spots.
- 50:47Speaker 8: The ads look good, though, the ads look like, oh
- 50:49Speaker 8: my god, look at shrimp the size of a dime.
- 50:53Speaker 3: You know.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Also, seafood is like my favorite food and then after
- 50:56Speaker 1: that Italian so.
- 50:57Speaker 5: Like, yeah, I like off food.
- 51:01Speaker 6: You know I do too, especially breakfast foods.
- 51:04Speaker 5: Let's see Matt's in Des Moines? Is that right, Matt,
- 51:11Speaker 5: Matt and des Moines? Okay, here it is? How you doing?
- 51:14Speaker 19: Hey, first time?
- 51:15Speaker 14: Call her a long time listener.
- 51:17Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 51:17Speaker 14: You guys are great. So I got a couple of
- 51:21Speaker 14: draft scenarios that I want to go through you guys. So,
- 51:24Speaker 14: first scenario, the Bears are gonna draft Caleb Williams, which
- 51:29Speaker 14: means that the Commanders are likely going to take Drake May,
- 51:33Speaker 14: leading us holding the bag as far as in my opinion,
- 51:35Speaker 14: I don't think much of Dants, so leaving us holding
- 51:39Speaker 14: the bag, and so I would like to take Marvin
- 51:44Speaker 14: Harrison junior. But I don't know as far as quarterbacks go,
- 51:50Speaker 14: what you guys think we would do in that scenario.
- 51:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I think at that point you're probably going the
- 51:57Speaker 5: free agent veteran route and maybe drafting a guy late
- 52:01Speaker 5: in the draft, you know, just a project guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:04Speaker 1: I have to think too, if the Bears do take
- 52:06Speaker 1: Caleb Williams at one that they're gonna have to do
- 52:09Speaker 1: something with fields. So I would see how much Fields cost. Yeah,
- 52:12Speaker 1: I mean you could Fields.
- 52:14Speaker 5: I'm open to that.
- 52:15Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean I would dangle Marvin Harrison. I'd be
- 52:17Speaker 8: fined it, you know, to take them. I mean, I'd
- 52:18Speaker 8: really be fine to take Neighbors too. I mean, I think,
- 52:21Speaker 8: you know, he's got a whole different kind of bag.
- 52:23Speaker 6: That's exciting.
- 52:23Speaker 5: But can you trade down and still get Neighbors potentially?
- 52:28Speaker 3: I mean, is gonna go, but can't go too far?
- 52:31Speaker 6: Eight eightish, I mean somewhere in there.
- 52:34Speaker 3: I'm not convinced that the Bears are going to take
- 52:35Speaker 3: Caleb Williams at one.
- 52:37Speaker 6: I'm not either.
- 52:39Speaker 3: Why because I think they might decide to hang on
- 52:42Speaker 3: to Fields.
- 52:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and I just think that Cliffs Kingsbury thing is
- 52:45Speaker 1: just fishy.
- 52:46Speaker 5: That would be monumental because then you're guaranteed one of
- 52:50Speaker 5: the top two.
- 52:51Speaker 8: It just makes too much sense to me, Like, it's
- 52:53Speaker 8: what I would do. I would take take Marvin Harrison,
- 52:56Speaker 8: take one of the receivers, take a tackle, give them
- 52:58Speaker 8: two big pieces, and if it doesn't work, you can
- 53:01Speaker 8: from Caleb Williams falls a little bit, Yeah, just one.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Well what is it like, what is a little bit
- 53:06Speaker 3: out of the top three.
- 53:07Speaker 5: I think he's going to go to Washington with still
- 53:10Speaker 5: within the top five, but he could be as much
- 53:12Speaker 5: as four.
- 53:13Speaker 6: Really, I think he's one or two.
- 53:15Speaker 1: I think he's going to go to Washington.
- 53:17Speaker 3: I think is absolutely yeah, because what Tom is talking
- 53:22Speaker 3: about with Kingsbury just doesn't make any sense to me.
- 53:27Speaker 3: But the Bear, even though he.
- 53:29Speaker 6: Cried, which Felger hammers him for too.
- 53:33Speaker 3: It's unbelievable. I'm telling you, that's why everybody doesn't like him.
- 53:37Speaker 6: It's just one wait, wait.
- 53:37Speaker 1: A minute, isn't Caleb from Washington from that area?
- 53:40Speaker 3: Is from d C? Yes, the DC area. Yes, that
- 53:44Speaker 3: does make sense, and supposedly put out another thing about Chicago.
- 53:49Speaker 8: Believe I'm not going to believe a single one of
- 53:51Speaker 8: those until I see it come out of his mouth,
- 53:52Speaker 8: because I just I think, like.
- 53:54Speaker 6: It's when you're start getting this draft misinformation.
- 53:56Speaker 8: Stuff and everybody's like, well, you know, actually he doesn't
- 53:59Speaker 8: want to play there, or actually aren't our board, he's
- 54:01Speaker 8: not that high, you know, those kind of like misinformation things.
- 54:05Speaker 16: What else Matt so second Stario is that the Bears
- 54:11Speaker 16: are going to keep fields and so the number one
- 54:15Speaker 16: pick is open for bidding.
- 54:18Speaker 20: What would you guys give up to trade up.
- 54:23Speaker 17: I mean because I mean there's I've read that.
- 54:26Speaker 14: I mean we would have to give up like first,
- 54:28Speaker 14: a second, and a third or whatever to move up.
- 54:30Speaker 17: I'm like, not in addition to the third pick, And
- 54:34Speaker 17: I'm like, that's that's just too much, so I'll take
- 54:37Speaker 17: it off there.
- 54:38Speaker 3: I don't think it would be that much. Now. The
- 54:41Speaker 3: problem would be the teams that you're competing with to
- 54:45Speaker 3: move to one could give more. Yes, because they have
- 54:49Speaker 3: to go further, they would be willing to give more,
- 54:53Speaker 3: and then they could force you to give more than
- 54:56Speaker 3: you want.
- 54:56Speaker 1: Right.
- 54:57Speaker 3: But I don't know, Like I'm not an expert with
- 55:00Speaker 3: the draft chart and all that stuff, but I think
- 55:04Speaker 3: it would be and there'd be some competition.
- 55:07Speaker 5: It's gonna I can't wait. I mean, we haven't been
- 55:09Speaker 5: in really this position in a long time.
- 55:12Speaker 3: The first of the draft. It's like, you know it's
- 55:14Speaker 3: going to start him, We're like here we go, wait
- 55:16Speaker 3: for I wonder.
- 55:17Speaker 5: How much will be done before we even I hope
- 55:21Speaker 5: they hold it.
- 55:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like it could be a situation like
- 55:25Speaker 1: when Trevor Lawrence is coming out, where like you kind
- 55:27Speaker 1: of you know before.
- 55:28Speaker 5: I don't think it's going to.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Be that you don't think I'm talking about trades. I
- 55:33Speaker 3: wonder if these trades will be done before.
- 55:34Speaker 5: Oh, that could happen with the draft.
- 55:37Speaker 6: Just wait till it starts them.
- 55:38Speaker 5: Yeah, and if that happens, then things could come out.
- 55:40Speaker 3: Yeah. If there's no trading and the Bears want to
- 55:43Speaker 3: take Caleb Williams, you'll know that before the draft. Yeah.
- 55:46Speaker 8: Well, I mean that's the biggest question is are the
- 55:48Speaker 8: Bears going to keep fields or or go for him?
- 55:51Speaker 8: That's you know, like you think there's any chance they
- 55:52Speaker 8: commit to fields and say, look where we're going to
- 55:55Speaker 8: stick with fields? You know, I mean, it feel like
- 55:57Speaker 8: it will behoove them to not.
- 55:58Speaker 3: And like, isn't it kind of a like just out
- 56:02Speaker 3: of common sense? And I'm not telling you it has
- 56:05Speaker 3: to be this way, But if the Bears are gonna
- 56:07Speaker 3: take Caleb Williams, isn't in their best interest to move
- 56:10Speaker 3: justin fields before the draft?
- 56:12Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 56:13Speaker 3: You know, and getting to be a tell yah, you know,
- 56:17Speaker 3: I just find it hard to believe that you're not
- 56:19Speaker 3: gonna have any in a way like that.
- 56:20Speaker 6: We're on the clock, all right, who wants field?
- 56:22Speaker 1: What's the bigger risk paying fields? You know, the same
- 56:26Speaker 1: situation that you know, obviously the Giants were in with
- 56:29Speaker 1: with with paying Daniel Jones, paying Fields or starting all
- 56:32Speaker 1: over again from scratch with Caleb Williams.
- 56:34Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 56:34Speaker 3: Ah, that's where it's like, right, and they don't have
- 56:37Speaker 3: to make the decision now on Fields. He's only going
- 56:40Speaker 3: into his fourth year, so.
- 56:42Speaker 5: And they could franchise him if they kind of like him,
- 56:45Speaker 5: you know.
- 56:46Speaker 3: But you could put that off for another whole year.
- 56:48Speaker 5: I'm saying, like, if they kind of like him, then
- 56:50Speaker 5: the next.
- 56:50Speaker 3: Year too, if you want to pick up his fifty arround.
- 56:52Speaker 8: He's the fiftie option guy too, right, so that that'll
- 56:55Speaker 8: give you a little bit of a signal at least,
- 56:56Speaker 8: I don't I stick with what I said earlier, I
- 56:58Speaker 8: would you invest did a first round pick and Fields
- 57:01Speaker 8: a few years ago. It's been up and down, but
- 57:04Speaker 8: you have so many other pieces, Like if you take
- 57:06Speaker 8: Caleb Williams, you're just kind of starting over again. And
- 57:08Speaker 8: sure you can get him some help with the next pick,
- 57:11Speaker 8: but not the way you could put two different guys
- 57:13Speaker 8: around field. So you know, that's and it's I feel
- 57:16Speaker 8: the same way about the Patriots, where it's like we
- 57:18Speaker 8: got to get a quarterback. We got to get a tackle,
- 57:19Speaker 8: we got to get a received. You're not going to
- 57:21Speaker 8: get all three at a high level starter position, so
- 57:24Speaker 8: you have to kind of bite the bullet on something
- 57:26Speaker 8: maybe and you might have to say, you know, and
- 57:28Speaker 8: even I was just looking back at like when they
- 57:29Speaker 8: drafted Calvin Johnson and oh god, what was the name
- 57:32Speaker 8: of the quarterback Joey No, it was the journeyman guy
- 57:37Speaker 8: with the big head who was in Detroit for a
- 57:39Speaker 8: long time.
- 57:39Speaker 3: But that is I've ever heard one figure really tries
- 57:44Speaker 3: to squeeze it the two thousand and.
- 57:47Speaker 8: What year was this, This would be the two thousand
- 57:49Speaker 8: and seven Detroit Lions.
- 57:52Speaker 6: The big hold on John Kittner.
- 57:55Speaker 5: That's it.
- 57:56Speaker 6: Wow, really really really said the stuff nogging into the.
- 58:00Speaker 3: Heuse I have never really noticed his nogging. I guess
- 58:03Speaker 3: that's the that's the ever.
- 58:07Speaker 6: As a big headed American, that's what I recognize.
- 58:09Speaker 8: You do have a big not as big as Andies,
- 58:13Speaker 8: which I'm proud to say, but you know, that's that's
- 58:16Speaker 8: like if you got to bite the bullet for a year,
- 58:18Speaker 8: and like and I just the people that are just
- 58:20Speaker 8: so well, you can't take a receiver who's gonna throw
- 58:22Speaker 8: it to somebody will throw it to him like it's fine, like.
- 58:27Speaker 5: Now you have your receiver.
- 58:28Speaker 3: The amount of definitive opinions when it comes to the
- 58:31Speaker 3: draft is really amazing. You can't take a quarterback there,
- 58:34Speaker 3: you can't. It's such a risk. Well for and then
- 58:37Speaker 3: you go back and look and it's like no more
- 58:39Speaker 3: of a risk than any other position. I agree with
- 58:42Speaker 3: the fred theory that it hurts more if you know
- 58:47Speaker 3: you're trying to make the quarterback and it doesn't work.
- 58:49Speaker 3: Then if the tackle didn't work, you know, but it
- 58:52Speaker 3: doesn't cost you any more financially. They're all slotted.
- 58:54Speaker 21: No.
- 58:55Speaker 8: And I mean in two years later, how do you
- 58:56Speaker 8: think they felt when you know they got Matthew Stafford
- 58:58Speaker 8: and you know, and now are granted it didn't work
- 59:01Speaker 8: out great, But like for everything that you're gonna tell
- 59:03Speaker 8: me the Patriots can or can't do, there's an example
- 59:06Speaker 8: of the opposite working out and for everybody. And look,
- 59:09Speaker 8: there are no can'ts no. And it for us like
- 59:11Speaker 8: you got to build in the you gotta build in
- 59:13Speaker 8: the trenches. Sure, I you know, I get it. And
- 59:15Speaker 8: they definitely, you know, they're so barren with tackles. They
- 59:18Speaker 8: need to need to need to get one of those guys.
- 59:20Speaker 8: I'd say more than more than anything given with this classes,
- 59:22Speaker 8: but I just I there's something to be said for
- 59:25Speaker 8: just taking something that you know is a key part
- 59:28Speaker 8: of what teams need this year. And you've got a
- 59:30Speaker 8: chance at three. You don't get the chance to be
- 59:31Speaker 8: at three. You get to be at three. You get
- 59:33Speaker 8: the top choice of all the wide receivers. And I'm
- 59:34Speaker 8: sorry that it's not that like you know, definitive position
- 59:37Speaker 8: that can remake, but it's a necessary one and you've
- 59:40Speaker 8: got a chance right now to maybe get one of
- 59:41Speaker 8: those guys, so that that that's the benefit rather than oh,
- 59:44Speaker 8: such a burden that we have to throw over a pick,
- 59:46Speaker 8: but we don't have a quarterback there, so we just
- 59:48Speaker 8: we can't take a receiver.
- 59:49Speaker 3: We got to you know, in reality, like the perfect
- 59:51Speaker 3: year for it, because there are you know, like a
- 59:54Speaker 3: lot of times you get that pick and there's no
- 59:57Speaker 3: option to take a quarter back pick a year as
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: an example that was just like two years ago, Like
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: if this was that year and you had the third
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: pick and you got stuck with that and you had
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: no you had no opportunity to take a quarterback at least.
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: Now there are three guys that everybody seems to be
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: in agreement, a worthy of conversation in the top five.
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, Paul's foods here.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: Wait, Paul has to wait one more minute to eat
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: his food. You don't have a message.
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: We have a message from Tomara.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: It's not for me, It's from Bridgetone.
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: I'm not gonna wait.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Bridgetone, our official tire of the New England Patriots, is

- 1:01:09Speaker 7: As I think back over the past, few seasons, I
- 1:01:12Speaker 7: wanted to thank my most trusted game day teammate, Tostitos.
- 1:01:17Speaker 7: As I recall the last minute grocery runs in late
- 1:01:21Speaker 7: night dishwashing, the salty defeats and spicy victories, I realize
- 1:01:27Speaker 7: it was all thanks to my teammate, Tostitos.
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: It was always you, Tostitos.
- 1:01:34Speaker 7: Team up with Toastedos, the official chip and Dip of
- 1:01:38Speaker 7: the New England Patriots.
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: What's Up Everybody?
- 1:01:40Speaker 7: Two thousand and three The Super Sequel Part two available
- 1:01:43Speaker 7: now out wherever you listen to podcast.
- 1:01:45Speaker 6: Let's have a listen to part two.
- 1:01:46Speaker 23: Damon Huard, We'll take the snap, go to one me
- 1:01:50Speaker 23: And that is all she wrote for two thousand and
- 1:01:53Speaker 23: threes regular season. Now it's out of the playoffs as
- 1:01:57Speaker 23: the Patriots try to make it two Super Bowl Chammpionships
- 1:02:00Speaker 23: in the last three years.
- 1:02:02Speaker 8: The Patriots would face the twelve and four Tennessee Titans
- 1:02:05Speaker 8: in the Divisional round, led by Cohen VP Steve McNair.
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: That is it.
- 1:02:10Speaker 8: The Tennessee Titans have gone on the road behind.
- 1:02:15Speaker 23: Eddy George and Cohen, VP, Steve McNair and that great
- 1:02:19Speaker 23: run defense.
- 1:02:20Speaker 8: Coming off of wild card victory over the Ravens. The
- 1:02:22Speaker 8: Titans were tough and experienced team, one that New England
- 1:02:25Speaker 8: had beaten earlier in the year thirty eight to thirty,
- 1:02:28Speaker 8: the first win of their current twelve game on Beaton Street.
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: And despite the fact that the Tennessee Titans Steve McNair.
- 1:02:34Speaker 17: Threw for almost four hundred yards.
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: And Tennessee had almost four huned fifty yards of the game,
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: New England wins up by the count of.
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: Thirty eight to thirty.
- 1:02:41Speaker 8: But like the two thousand and one Divisional round, weather
- 1:02:45Speaker 8: would once again be a factor with arctic cold in
- 1:02:47Speaker 8: the forecast.
- 1:02:48Speaker 24: Dean Brant Lewis will I'll say the night before the games,
- 1:02:52Speaker 24: you know, as we go and do our walk our
- 1:02:54Speaker 24: walk through, you know some of these crazy behind defensive
- 1:02:57Speaker 24: players that we have on the team, Mike Brabel, you
- 1:02:59Speaker 24: know William again is Teddy Bosky, you know, all those
- 1:03:02Speaker 24: guys outside of the shirts off, and they had a
- 1:03:06Speaker 24: weather advisory for people to not be outside, and it
- 1:03:09Speaker 24: is we're doing a walk through and half of.
- 1:03:11Speaker 25: These clowns are outside of the shirts off, you know,
- 1:03:13Speaker 25: and it's.
- 1:03:15Speaker 26: Just some of those things, the memories you kind of
- 1:03:17Speaker 26: think about those days and that was a long time
- 1:03:20Speaker 26: ago man, you know, and I'm very blessed to still
- 1:03:22Speaker 26: have that great memory to think about those memorable moments,
- 1:03:26Speaker 26: you know, because that is what made this team, you know,
- 1:03:29Speaker 26: just having that opportunity to be on the field with
- 1:03:31Speaker 26: those guys, just to do a walk through shirtless, and
- 1:03:34Speaker 26: everybody just like Bill, you know, this is what it is.
- 1:03:36Speaker 25: We're going to face this.
- 1:03:37Speaker 6: Matt Chatham, linebacker and special teamer.
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: The guy that I would say is responsible for that
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: is actually, you know, just recently honored here, Mike Rabel
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: so Crable is obviously known as the guy with that you,
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: guy who loved to push the envelope, tough guy, smart guy,
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: all those kinds of things. But you know, it's not
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: as if at that point I hadn't played in a
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: decent amount of cold games in my life. But this
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: one was different than really any of us had experienced.
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: And we had an en stadium walked through the night
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: before and Jillette and Bravees comes walking up out of
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: the locker room with the without sleeves on, you know,
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: just with like the light sleeveless sort of practice T
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: shirt almost and it's a helmet's only practice. But you know,
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: the rest of us are all bundled up in like
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: three layers of thermal sweats and gloves and hats and
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: all that kind of stuff, and braves is just like sleeveless,
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: and that's roll we're gonna. He's gonna go through this
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: sort of two hour thing. I'm like, oh man, But
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: then it makes you kind of feel like a jerk
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: for letting him go through that go through it alone.
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: So his rationality was basically, I'm gonna it can't possibly
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: be where I'm stunded. Then what I'm gonna feel like now?
- 1:04:46Speaker 6: Scott Poli, Patriots director of player Personnel.
- 1:04:49Speaker 15: It was the first time that it was too cold
- 1:04:52Speaker 15: to breathe through my mouth, so I decided to try
- 1:04:55Speaker 15: to breathe through my nose. And I don't want to
- 1:04:59Speaker 15: get overly grapped here, let's just say that everything was
- 1:05:02Speaker 15: frozen and like hurt. The fact of my hate it
- 1:05:04Speaker 15: was so cold when you breathed in. But that was again,
- 1:05:09Speaker 15: that was a really good Tennessee Titans football team. I'm
- 1:05:12Speaker 15: glad we had them at home. You know, our team
- 1:05:15Speaker 15: was built for our home venue at the time.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: And that showed up in.
- 1:05:23Speaker 27: That game, and then the next week against the Colts
- 1:05:26Speaker 27: because that was part of the bold be Home and
- 1:05:28Speaker 27: that was something that Bill knew, right. Bill was part
- 1:05:31Speaker 27: of those Giants, and those Giants teams were built around,
- 1:05:34Speaker 27: you know, built for their venue, just like the Colts
- 1:05:37Speaker 27: were built for their van, you know. So that Tennessee game,
- 1:05:43Speaker 27: I'll never forget how.
- 1:05:44Speaker 23: Cold it was at the time is eight oh one
- 1:05:46Speaker 23: and the temperature five degrees with a wind shiel of
- 1:05:50Speaker 23: minus three.
- 1:05:51Speaker 19: Christian Fourier, University of Colorado.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: I am from the West Coast. I played in Colorado,
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: but I am not used to the cold, and this
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: was next level cold. I remember going to a ski
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: shop down in Attleborough and I was looking for one
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: of those old school one piece suits you see the
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: BOBSLT team wear. I was trying to find something because
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: there's not a chance in hell I'm gonna make it
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: through this. I actually burnt my cleats. My cleats melted
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: because I was putting them up next to those little
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: burners that they have on the sideline, and my cleats burnt.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: I had to change my cleats. In the end, it
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: was really about just staying moving, and if you were
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: actually playing, it was fine.
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: Karen Grigian the Boston Herald.
- 1:06:35Speaker 21: I mean they kept showing the thermometer on the field
- 1:06:39Speaker 21: where it's like it was like twenty below zero, and
- 1:06:42Speaker 21: it was literally it was. The heat was on, but
- 1:06:46Speaker 21: it was still freezing in the press box, particularly few
- 1:06:48Speaker 21: in the front row.
- 1:06:50Speaker 23: We were sitting there, and I wondered how many fans
- 1:06:52Speaker 23: would stay away because of the low temperatures.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: But as I look around, not many people did stay away.
- 1:06:57Speaker 23: They're here, they're excited.
- 1:07:00Speaker 6: Stevens Patriots fan and personality to go back to.
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: The Super Bowl.
- 1:07:04Speaker 28: The New England Patriots were likely to have to go
- 1:07:06Speaker 28: through the co MVPs of the league. Let me repeat
- 1:07:09Speaker 28: that there was no cupcake schedule. There was no softy,
- 1:07:13Speaker 28: there was no cakewalk. The Pats would have to defeat
- 1:07:16Speaker 28: the co MVPs of the season. They would get they
- 1:07:18Speaker 28: would get their shot to do it at home, and
- 1:07:21Speaker 28: as it turns out, the tougher of the two games
- 1:07:23Speaker 28: would be the divisional round game, a Saturday night affair
- 1:07:26Speaker 28: against Steve McNair and the Titans.
- 1:07:28Speaker 13: McNair quarterback draw.
- 1:07:30Speaker 23: He has Roman has the Fust plot inside the five,
- 1:07:34Speaker 23: What's coming Eddie, George Fust down and more.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: Demps saved a huge game.
- 1:07:39Speaker 28: The conversation all week leading up to the game wasn't
- 1:07:42Speaker 28: just how are they gonna stop Steve McNair, How are
- 1:07:44Speaker 28: how are the Patriots gonna handle this awesome offense? It
- 1:07:47Speaker 28: was how can they play football in legitimate Arctic conditions?
- 1:07:51Speaker 23: Well, kickoff that frozen clock bow.
- 1:07:54Speaker 8: The conditions did little to slow down the Patriots offense
- 1:07:57Speaker 8: out of the gate, with Brady hitting Bethel Johnson for
- 1:07:59Speaker 8: a forty one yard touchdown strike to open the scoring
- 1:08:02Speaker 8: spot to the.
- 1:08:02Speaker 23: Fire side left, with Givens to the near side right.
- 1:08:05Speaker 23: He comes in motion, goes in motion from right to left.
- 1:08:08Speaker 23: Brady in the shotgun takes the snap on third and six.
- 1:08:10Speaker 28: Time fires down in that on that round cut touch
- 1:08:13Speaker 28: down touch down play trios cut, fill, chop sid.
- 1:08:18Speaker 8: The Titans would respond on their next drive with McNair
- 1:08:21Speaker 8: hitting big plays to Derek Mason and Drew Bennett. Then
- 1:08:24Speaker 8: Chris Brown tied things up with a five yard run second.
- 1:08:26Speaker 23: And goal at the Patriot five. We'll call it the
- 1:08:29Speaker 23: gives to Brown to the right, tries to cut it
- 1:08:31Speaker 23: back left and is brought down in Now he got
- 1:08:34Speaker 23: it the end of the end zone touchdown.
- 1:08:37Speaker 8: If the Pats offense would continue to hummer early on,
- 1:08:39Speaker 8: moving the ball on a second consecutive drive, only to
- 1:08:42Speaker 8: see their reliable kicker Adam Vinattieri miss a forty four
- 1:08:45Speaker 8: yard field goal. As conditions continue to deteriorate, ball is on.
- 1:08:48Speaker 23: The fire, hash Mark tangle will be to the right
- 1:08:51Speaker 23: for Vinitari. I make it a forty four yard field
- 1:08:54Speaker 23: goal attempt where they set it up, the ball down,
- 1:08:55Speaker 23: the kick is up, that is on the way and
- 1:08:58Speaker 23: it is nougat.
- 1:09:01Speaker 29: Teddy Bruski Arizona just so hard to score. You know,
- 1:09:04Speaker 29: when you get in elements, whether it's the snow in
- 1:09:06Speaker 29: Miami or the freezing The freezing day which is against
- 1:09:10Speaker 29: Tennessee was you know, it's just it's going.
- 1:09:12Speaker 6: To be ugly.
- 1:09:13Speaker 29: It's going to be back and forth. And why we
- 1:09:16Speaker 29: won championships so often was just there were just three
- 1:09:19Speaker 29: or four plays that we had players that made them
- 1:09:22Speaker 29: consistently all the time, and then it was a multiple
- 1:09:26Speaker 29: multitude of players that could do that.
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: Deion Brandt Lewisville.
- 1:09:29Speaker 25: Unfortunately, during the course of the game, I got Santi
- 1:09:31Speaker 25: Samuels ended up having the fouse bites.
- 1:09:36Speaker 26: I mean, this was the craziest thing ever I've never
- 1:09:38Speaker 26: seen a guy with purple nails and stuff.
- 1:09:40Speaker 25: And it's toe nails, his fingernails.
- 1:09:44Speaker 17: You know.
- 1:09:44Speaker 25: Scientas from Miami, so you know, and I'm from Georgia.
- 1:09:46Speaker 25: We're not used to that type weather. But we went
- 1:09:49Speaker 25: out and took care of business. All the other things
- 1:09:51Speaker 25: will kind of get taken care of after the game.
- 1:09:53Speaker 30: When someone accidentally threw a the school play costumes, oh no,
- 1:09:58Speaker 30: replacements were shipped FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:10:02Speaker 30: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 1:10:06Speaker 30: now it's next for residential delivery only.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: And now great moments in history.
- 1:10:16Speaker 31: But you know, Connor McDermott's another guy that I've been
- 1:10:18Speaker 31: thinking about. You know, if they they probably could just
- 1:10:20Speaker 31: elevate him. But if they wanted to try to get
- 1:10:22Speaker 31: him on the roster, then Calvin Anderson could be the
- 1:10:25Speaker 31: odd man out there too, And.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: That would be my first reaction would be, like they
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: still have I think nine offensive linemen on the roster.
- 1:10:32Speaker 5: Right, I could just see Tyro went to I R.
- 1:10:35Speaker 5: I could and he's got his hands behind his head
- 1:10:39Speaker 5: laying there and his wife's wife says, our fiance, what
- 1:10:43Speaker 5: are you thinking about? Connor McDermott.
- 1:10:46Speaker 23: I mean.
- 1:10:50Speaker 31: You're like, you're totally not wrong.
- 1:10:55Speaker 6: What about him? No, it's the meme.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: It's like the couple in bed and the girls like
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: it's probably thinking about other girls.
- 1:11:02Speaker 5: And then it's actually.
- 1:11:04Speaker 31: Last night I was watching j List me Mac Jones
- 1:11:10Speaker 31: breakdown from last week and she fell asleep and she
- 1:11:12Speaker 31: like wakes up and she's like, who are you talking to?
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: And I was like, JT O. Sullivan, I don't worry
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: about it.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: That's another great moment from.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: Hey Patriots fans. If you want to see Toyota's best offers,
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: including those not seen on TV, go to buy a
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: Toyota dot com. It's Toyota's official website for deals from
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: the official vehicle of the New England Patriots, Toyota. Let's
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: go places.
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: All right, good Tamara working for your lunch.
- 1:11:42Speaker 6: That sounded really professional right there.
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: Andrew in the UK, what are you trying to say?
- 1:11:47Speaker 23: Mike?
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: Last night, during NFL's opening night coverage, Maurice Jones, Drew
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: was introduced multiple times as a Super Bowl champion while
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: flashing his ring on air. You might wonder how a
- 1:11:59Speaker 5: career Jaguar with a brief stint as a Raider won
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: a Super Bowl. Turns out it was part of the
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: Rams radio team a couple of seasons ago. This got
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: me thinking, surely Fred and Paul need to be introduced
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: as six times Super Bowl champions. Also given not many
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: people in the world have such a resume, When are
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: the Pro Football Hall of Fame candidacies for you two? Beginning?
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: Paul's already in a Hall.
- 1:12:19Speaker 6: Of fame, that's true. You you baseball Hall of Fame. Yeah,
- 1:12:23Speaker 6: not the whole athletic Hall of just.
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: But we shouldn't sell Mike to social He and his
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: uh it's right, fellow teammates at holy Cross. We're under
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: twenty fifth the MAC title.
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: Did they give you a memento?
- 1:12:38Speaker 6: No, we got we got a cash bar, I guess.
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: Cash bar bar even we had an open bar.
- 1:12:44Speaker 6: You can drink in the Heart Center now, so they
- 1:12:45Speaker 6: got a knock all license there. So that was great.
- 1:12:48Speaker 8: We got to walk out between the second and third period.
- 1:12:51Speaker 8: You know, you did a little hi fans. Yeah, they
- 1:12:53Speaker 8: couldn't hear anything. They were saying, uh yeah, big big,
- 1:12:56Speaker 8: big clap and uh it's funny tho because some of
- 1:12:59Speaker 8: the guys, you know, let me, I'm pretty old now,
- 1:13:00Speaker 8: but some of the guys.
- 1:13:01Speaker 6: Are still like, Oh, we're going to go out after
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: the game. I'm like, I'm not going out, Like I
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: gotta drive home. And then the hockey players all want
- 1:13:06Speaker 6: us to come to the hockey house. And with those days,
- 1:13:08Speaker 6: those days are gone for me. I'm not going to
- 1:13:10Speaker 6: I'm not going to a college hockey house right now?
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: Does it smell? Do they really smell? The college?
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: All the gear, there's nothing like you. Hockey equipment st.
- 1:13:22Speaker 9: The worst.
- 1:13:24Speaker 5: Let's go back to the phones. We'll go to Tim
- 1:13:27Speaker 5: and Boston. What's up, Tim?
- 1:13:30Speaker 12: Hey?
- 1:13:30Speaker 32: Speaking of hockey, Congrats Northeastern on reaching the Bean Pop
- 1:13:33Speaker 32: Finals for the sixth gray year.
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: How about that, you know, a.
- 1:13:36Speaker 6: Little closer, a little too close?
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I was not happy last night.
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: Is there at three?
- 1:13:41Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:13:42Speaker 32: I think I want them, and if not, I want
- 1:13:44Speaker 32: to trade down. We can't fix this offense with one pick.
- 1:13:49Speaker 32: You got to stack up top fifty picks so we
- 1:13:51Speaker 32: can rebuild the line, get some weapons. And if we
- 1:13:53Speaker 32: trade down, I'm not interested in getting one of these
- 1:13:55Speaker 32: round two, round three quarterbacks. Give me Jacobe Brissette. You
- 1:13:58Speaker 32: know it's not worth taking a flyer on these guys
- 1:14:01Speaker 32: that aren't going to work out.
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: We'll take it out there things as okay, thanks, Yeah,
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: So I'm in between there if you have to trade that.
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: If you can't get a quarterback at three, obviously you're
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: gonna have to get someone to play this year. I
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: get it. And but that doesn't mean I'm not interested
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: in like a third round quarterback. I'm not interested necessarily
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: in JJ McCarthy, Bo Nicks, Michael Pennix, whatever. Maybe you
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: could sell me on Pennix, but if you I think
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: it's just smart business to take a quarterback somewhere, you know.
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: And I'm not talking about a flyer in the seventh round.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: I mean like in the middle there, third round, like
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: Joe Milton. Yeah, it's a second I never know when
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: a Dak Prescott's going to emerge.
- 1:14:46Speaker 8: Yeah, But it's like the the guys you mentioned, like
- 1:14:49Speaker 8: you know, mcarthy, Pennock, I'm with you on Panis, Like
- 1:14:51Speaker 8: I could probably be talking in to him, but I
- 1:14:53Speaker 8: feel like him and McCarthy and bo Nicks are like
- 1:14:55Speaker 8: guys that it's probably not gonna work but maybe.
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: Right and what I don't want to do, and I
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: I agree with the caller there, like I don't want
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: to take one of those guys and think that's my
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: quarterbad this year. He's going to start for me this year. No,
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: that to me is every bit as much of a
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: project as Joe Milton or anybody else. Like if they
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: were gonna if everybody thought they were going to be
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: frontline starting caliber quarterbacks, we'd be talking about six or
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: seven in the top ten. Yeah, not three. Now, maybe
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: these guys will jet up the board once you know,
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: the combine comes and the Pro days and everything, maybe
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: people will start saying, hey, you know, we're selling these
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: guys short, and that could happen. I mean, was it
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: six the record six first round quarterbacks.
- 1:15:41Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: It's happened a couple of times, obviously the famous one
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: of eighty three with l Way Marino. But I'm not
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: necessarily opposed to taking those guys. I just don't want
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: to take a bow Nicks and say there's my quarterback
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: of the future. Bow Nicks is taken with the thought
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: of maybe we have something to develop there. He's been
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: productive in college. I'm not I'm not opposed to.
- 1:16:05Speaker 8: That, but he's in that higher ilk of guys that
- 1:16:07Speaker 8: you couldn't wait till the fourth round to kind of
- 1:16:09Speaker 8: take that, you'd have to take him, Like.
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: The whole idea of you trade up it back into
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: the first round to get one of them, I'm not
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: I'm not looking to give up resources to get Michael
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: Pennix right at twenty five, right when I can just
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: take Jaaln Daniels at three.
- 1:16:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:16:23Speaker 8: I agree with everything you just said, Paul and like
- 1:16:25Speaker 8: and that's and that's why, just speaking in general terms,
- 1:16:28Speaker 8: I see a lot more paths to come away with
- 1:16:30Speaker 8: a receiver and a tackle and some in some combination
- 1:16:33Speaker 8: over the that first two picks than it is to
- 1:16:36Speaker 8: I mean, really thread the needle with Drake may that's
- 1:16:39Speaker 8: kind of the only.
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: One was the tall guy that they I think he died.
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: This guy with the big head. How the tall guy Arkansas?
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: Oh our guy, yeah, Ryan Mallet Ryan?
- 1:16:50Speaker 5: Because what did they take him in the fourth round?
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: Third third? Because I remember, like people said, wow, he's available,
- 1:16:57Speaker 5: and they they took him.
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: That's the kind of but I let that like that
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: pick I have no problem with. I thought Garoppolo was
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: a little too high for give given their their needs
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: at the time. No, obviously they took a guy who
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: had some ability, you know, but yeah, Ryan Mallet, Rohan Daviy,
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: you know, somewhere in there, some of them work out,
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: some of them don't. You don't pick that guy with
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: the thought that my quarterback problems are solved. You don't
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: pick Dak Prescott in the fourth round with the idea
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: that he's going to replace Tony Romo. Yeah, but that's
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: what happened with Dallas, you know.
- 1:17:33Speaker 8: And to some extent, I'd even kind of swoop Jayen
- 1:17:35Speaker 8: Daniels into that kind of you know, like it's gonna
- 1:17:37Speaker 8: take some work. It's hard to even say, like we're
- 1:17:39Speaker 8: gonna take him at three and he's our guy.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: And I'm also not opposed to taking a guy at
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: three and not having him start week one. Now, if
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: he shows that he's by far and away is ready, fine, great,
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: but you gotta I can wait.
- 1:17:52Speaker 8: But they got to do that thing where they always
- 1:17:54Speaker 8: kind of set a baseline and free agency of Look,
- 1:17:57Speaker 8: this guy isn't an ideal plus starter, but he could
- 1:18:00Speaker 8: play if we have there any.
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: Chance that this veteran that they have until the other
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: guy's ready. As Mac Jones, No, I mean.
- 1:18:08Speaker 6: I'd go back to what we said last week.
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: Of can I get a one one year paid sabbatical
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: if that happens, I don't know if I can do it.
- 1:18:15Speaker 8: Yeah, I can't know, but I think it was like
- 1:18:17Speaker 8: we talked about a couple of shows ago of it's
- 1:18:19Speaker 8: not so much like on the field and just like
- 1:18:21Speaker 8: it's it's more just his presence, And you did the
- 1:18:24Speaker 8: whole thing, Fred, it was your whole rant that that
- 1:18:26Speaker 8: I totally agree with, because if it just came down
- 1:18:28Speaker 8: to like play on the field and kind of like talent,
- 1:18:31Speaker 8: it's like you drafted this kid, he's under contract. But
- 1:18:34Speaker 8: I just think that in terms of trying to clear
- 1:18:37Speaker 8: the palette from last year, that that that's kind of
- 1:18:39Speaker 8: a personality you kind of have to move out.
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree. I'm not interested in either one, but
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: if I had to do it, gun Head, I would
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: do Zapi.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: I would do Zappi, especially because the locker room, the
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: state of the locker room especially, I don't know how
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: that's going to go over if he's the starter at
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: the video right yere.
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's and for the same reason I don't
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: want Zappi either, because I think that is mac guys too. Right,
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: So now you're relienating, you're risking alienating.
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: Those guys, like you know, who's left are they're more
- 1:19:08Speaker 5: MAC guys in the locker room than they're you know,
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: like I think I think David Andrews, I'm not sure
- 1:19:14Speaker 5: where he fell, but you know, he's certainly a Bill guy.
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: And whatever Bill said, you know, that's that was it.
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: But you wonder how many people left on the offense
- 1:19:25Speaker 5: were MAC guys versus not MAC guys.
- 1:19:27Speaker 8: Like Hunter Henry, you know, I mean, he's a free agent.
- 1:19:29Speaker 8: He was one of the Mac guys, right, So, like,
- 1:19:32Speaker 8: is his.
- 1:19:33Speaker 6: Potential to maybe return here? Is that tied to somehow? Yeah,
- 1:19:36Speaker 6: you're nay on Mac.
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:19:39Speaker 5: Was Elliott Wolf of Mack guy? I don't know, it
- 1:19:42Speaker 5: seems like he's.
- 1:19:43Speaker 8: I mean, I would say any front office person that
- 1:19:46Speaker 8: Green Bay, well, if Joy practices briefly had a nice throw.
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: Patty and what's up Patty, Hey little Patty.
- 1:20:00Speaker 12: So I don't want to give any up the resources.
- 1:20:02Speaker 12: It's going to take them as up a number one
- 1:20:04Speaker 12: in this draft at least, because I think we need
- 1:20:07Speaker 12: those those second third room and I'm I'm on the
- 1:20:12Speaker 12: bandwagon of let's just take a quarterback I mean if
- 1:20:15Speaker 12: it's regardless of who there, Daniels or Drake may I mean,
- 1:20:20Speaker 12: you never know what Washington's gonna do. They might want it.
- 1:20:22Speaker 12: They might look and say Daniels fits our system with
- 1:20:26Speaker 12: Cliff Kingsbury better than Drake Maywell, you know who knows.
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: You never know, it could happen. You're on board. Would
- 1:20:33Speaker 5: take any one of the top three quarterbacks, that's your yeah.
- 1:20:38Speaker 12: And I'm with Paul too, regardless of who's I would
- 1:20:41Speaker 12: take to Kobe Rissette, and he's he's a great veteran backup.
- 1:20:45Speaker 12: If you need him to start the first few games
- 1:20:47Speaker 12: of the season, you know he's there. He's proven he
- 1:20:50Speaker 12: could play in the league. I mean, he probably don't
- 1:20:53Speaker 12: want him starting more than a few games, but until
- 1:20:55Speaker 12: the new guy gets ready. And what I don't want
- 1:20:58Speaker 12: to happen is to go in the veteran market and
- 1:21:01Speaker 12: sort of stagnate and be where we were in twenty
- 1:21:04Speaker 12: two winning like between you know, eight and ten games
- 1:21:09Speaker 12: a year, and then you never know when you're gonna
- 1:21:12Speaker 12: be able to get your hands on him.
- 1:21:13Speaker 5: So Ibray busy today, Okay, all right, thanks Patty. It's
- 1:21:19Speaker 5: like he's like, yeah, next next to the putting green
- 1:21:22Speaker 5: at one of the turn.
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: Bringing you a veteran in. You know, the reason I
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: keep saying Brissette is I he's a backup. I'm not
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: really interested in like Cousins or Mayfield because of the money,
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: and I think you could do better. I don't think
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: you're gonna those guys are better than Brissett, right, Like
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: Cousins could come in and everything works out. He could
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: win seven or eight games for you, but I don't
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: think he's winning twelve or thirteen and make you a contender.
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: So does that I mean you can make an argument
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: either way, like does that help?
- 1:21:58Speaker 16: More?
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: Like you're a stablishing a culture with a veteran who
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: clearly does everything the right way. I mean, everybody loves
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: Kirk Cousins, Yeah, the person you know, So you can
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: make an argument that that might help Gerd Mayo and
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: a young staff and what I would presume they're going
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: to be a younger roster, right, what are you laughing at?
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: I'm just thinking how fun it would be this year
- 1:22:20Speaker 5: if Baker Mayfield was a quarterback. And after every game
- 1:22:23Speaker 5: that Baker plays well, Paul has, you know, just rolling
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: his eyes and shaking his head.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: But I got to give him his props. I thought
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: he played well down the stretch. I don't think he
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: had his greatest season as people think he did. I
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: think they forget like some of the losses that they had.
- 1:22:37Speaker 8: I mean in contrast to what I saw from him
- 1:22:38Speaker 8: when he played here with the Browns, and I just
- 1:22:40Speaker 8: thought he's done.
- 1:22:41Speaker 6: Like this guy can't play anymore to what he is,
- 1:22:44Speaker 6: which is fine that I mean, that's impressive.
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: Because you forgot what happened that day. Yeah, he's playing
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: that game with a separated shoulder because they were playing
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: the Patriots twenty one.
- 1:22:54Speaker 8: Now you're bringing up great points, Paul, I totally just
- 1:22:58Speaker 8: everything you're saying, and like that's all the like the
- 1:23:00Speaker 8: thoughts that go through my head of like is it
- 1:23:02Speaker 8: really worth like just accepting that we are rebuilding team
- 1:23:05Speaker 8: and not trying to like just go out of your
- 1:23:07Speaker 8: way to get it all right for twenty twenty four,
- 1:23:10Speaker 8: when which they expense the twenty twenty five, like you know,
- 1:23:13Speaker 8: like let's stack towards twenty twenty five.
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: I think there's a notion out there too, like it's
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: really important that they do this for twenty twenty four.
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: And I think there's better just as good an argument
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: to be made as that would hurt you.
- 1:23:25Speaker 8: Yeah, and you think, like if of any year, Mayo's
- 1:23:27Speaker 8: going to have a little bit of leeway. This year,
- 1:23:29Speaker 8: I would imagine in this first season, there's not really
- 1:23:32Speaker 8: as much pressure and if you kind of sell out
- 1:23:34Speaker 8: to try to make it get to seven wins this year,
- 1:23:37Speaker 8: you know. I mean that's you know, maybe being a
- 1:23:38Speaker 8: little negative about it. But you know, I wonder how.
- 1:23:43Speaker 5: Much, like you know, money, money is always a factor,
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: but how they look at like the cadence of salaries.
- 1:23:50Speaker 5: So let's just say you get your first you know,
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: big guy is a tackle, and that's who you use
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: for your top pick. You know, the order of how
- 1:24:00Speaker 5: these contracts come up. Is it better to have the tackles,
- 1:24:05Speaker 5: uh contract come up before the quarterbacks and the wide
- 1:24:08Speaker 5: receivers come up before the quarter you know what I mean?
- 1:24:11Speaker 5: Do they look at the cadence of when these you know,
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: assuming you hit on these guys, when when the salaries,
- 1:24:17Speaker 5: you know, the contracts come up.
- 1:24:19Speaker 6: I mean it's another it's another team. Yeah, no, it's
- 1:24:22Speaker 6: another layer to it.
- 1:24:22Speaker 8: I mean obviously that that that fifth year option on
- 1:24:24Speaker 8: a quarterback would would be ideal. But I mean, these
- 1:24:28Speaker 8: are all premium positions that are all going to get
- 1:24:30Speaker 8: paid big money, and you know it's it's hard to come.
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: And I know that this is different than the question
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: you're asking. I I think if you had a perfect world,
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: like I'm going to hit on all three, I'm going
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: to take in consecutive years a quarterback, wide receiver, and
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: tackle and they're all going to hit. Wouldn't you rather
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: have the quarterback first because now you're maximizing the ability
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: of the other guys, Like you don't necessarily have to
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: wait for the tackle and the wide receiver to develop
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: as much. But most guys, it's not not a lot
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: of CJ. Strouds out there. Yeah, you know, most guys
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: need a little time before they're the guy.
- 1:25:03Speaker 8: And you know what it looks like, and you know
- 1:25:05Speaker 8: what you're trying to build around, rather than like if
- 1:25:07Speaker 8: you know, like let's just say the Patriots came out
- 1:25:08Speaker 8: of this with a receiver and a tackle and it's
- 1:25:10Speaker 8: Jacobe Brissett, Like you're still kind of got a placeholder there,
- 1:25:13Speaker 8: and you don't know as you continue to build the
- 1:25:15Speaker 8: team and going into the following season exactly what you're
- 1:25:18Speaker 8: building for what kind of quarterback do we exactly have?
- 1:25:20Speaker 8: What are the pieces that we really need, you know,
- 1:25:23Speaker 8: for this guy?
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: So yeah, I agree, there's a lot of this just
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: gets back to what Mike said about a half hour ago,
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: like there's no cancer, Like there's no way that is
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: wrong or right to do it.
- 1:25:34Speaker 5: If they're all good, then that's the way, right. It
- 1:25:36Speaker 5: doesn't matter.
- 1:25:37Speaker 8: Well in the bottom line is you need talent. You
- 1:25:39Speaker 8: need talented players who can play in this league and
- 1:25:41Speaker 8: that in whatever position they play at.
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: Like if they take Marvin Harrison at three and he
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: turned out to be an All Pro, people are going
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: to be happy. Now. I don't know how good that's
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: going to make your team, but they'll at least be
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: happy they had a high pick. They nailed it.
- 1:25:54Speaker 5: Yeah, Johnson, South Beach, what's up, john john Johnny, Johnny,
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: are you muted?
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: Johnny South Beach, South Beach?
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: Okay? Yeah, enjoying the If I was in South Beach,
- 1:26:11Speaker 5: I'd be distracted to Teddy, Teddy the Weather, Teddy and
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: Foster UK says, am I missing something with the coaching hires?
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: Apart from on defense, Are my beloved Patriots attempting to
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: hire any coach who has had a disappointing record in
- 1:26:29Speaker 5: the last few seasons. Why should I be excited coaching
- 1:26:32Speaker 5: wise for the current season when we're hiring a special
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: teams coach whose special teams last year was awful, or
- 1:26:38Speaker 5: an offensive assistant coach whose teams were future and on
- 1:26:41Speaker 5: offense the last time he was coaching. Please talk me
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: off the ledge, guys. Well, there's extending circumstances to everything
- 1:26:52Speaker 5: you well, yeah, such as well like for example, Alex
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: van Pelt. You know, you can say, well, he lost
- 1:26:58Speaker 5: his job in Cleveland, but according to people on the
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: ground there, everybody loved him and it was just a
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: philosophical thing. And you know, he lost out to to
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: basically above Stefanski. You know, people above Stefanski wanted to
- 1:27:14Speaker 5: make a change.
- 1:27:15Speaker 6: Yeah, well, I mean, I don't know. I mean this.
- 1:27:18Speaker 8: I think there's a bigger debate too about special teams, like,
- 1:27:20Speaker 8: you know, what, what do you do to fix your
- 1:27:21Speaker 8: special teams these days? Like do you go out and
- 1:27:23Speaker 8: sign a bunch of veterans special teamers or you know,
- 1:27:26Speaker 8: I think probably the hope here, at least primarily with Springer,
- 1:27:29Speaker 8: is that he can get the two rookie kickers on track,
- 1:27:32Speaker 8: and that if guys are making their field goals.
- 1:27:34Speaker 6: And you're able to flip.
- 1:27:35Speaker 8: You know, have consistent punting, which we didn't get last year.
- 1:27:39Speaker 8: You know, consistency out of either of those spots that
- 1:27:41Speaker 8: you know, that's the best place to start, rather than
- 1:27:44Speaker 8: you know, doing what the Patriots have done, which was
- 1:27:45Speaker 8: go out and signed Chris Board last year, which you
- 1:27:47Speaker 8: know didn't really make an impact. You brought back Cody Davis,
- 1:27:50Speaker 8: didn't really you know, change anything. So I mean, special
- 1:27:52Speaker 8: teams are becoming less and less a part of the league,
- 1:27:55Speaker 8: and I think you kind of have to prioritize how
- 1:27:57Speaker 8: you want to attack that and also realizing that like
- 1:28:00Speaker 8: it's still special teams, Like it's not you know, how
- 1:28:02Speaker 8: do we fix the punt return team? Like, well, Marcus
- 1:28:05Speaker 8: Jones is gonna come back, so maybe that'll help. Like,
- 1:28:07Speaker 8: but I look, I hear what he's saying. I mean,
- 1:28:09Speaker 8: it's it's and this is unfortunately the reality of the
- 1:28:12Speaker 8: situation the Patriots are in that they weren't going to
- 1:28:14Speaker 8: bring in a bunch of really highly desired, sought after coaches.
- 1:28:17Speaker 8: They mean, that's not where they are. They are long rebuild.
- 1:28:20Speaker 8: They these guys are gonna have a chance to prove themselves.
- 1:28:22Speaker 8: But these guys might not be the guys. It might
- 1:28:24Speaker 8: be the guys after them that you know you bring
- 1:28:26Speaker 8: in to take a group the next place. It's just
- 1:28:28Speaker 8: right now, you've gotta get talent in there and you
- 1:28:30Speaker 8: need to.
- 1:28:30Speaker 5: Rebuild a base Jeffrey and Canada. When it comes to
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: drafting a quarterback, I hope the number one consideration is
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: his actual talent, arm, footwork, composure, accuracy. I think for
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: media and fans alike, we have to trust that experts on.
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: Which one of those, all of them is the number
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: one thing?
- 1:28:47Speaker 5: All of those things talent, armed, footwork, composure, inaccuracy. There
- 1:28:51Speaker 5: are other things to consider that might separate two players
- 1:28:53Speaker 5: that are close. Which of the following are most important
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: to you to separate two players who are close? And
- 1:29:00Speaker 5: there's four things. The stats of the player, the success
- 1:29:05Speaker 5: of the quarterbacks team, uh, you know, did they have
- 1:29:08Speaker 5: a good record or not? The competition he faced, and
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: the level of talent of his teammates. Did did he
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: do that with a bunch of five star talent around him?
- 1:29:18Speaker 5: So stats, success of the team, the competition or the
- 1:29:24Speaker 5: talent around him? Which is more important separate.
- 1:29:26Speaker 6: In that group, I'd probably say stats.
- 1:29:28Speaker 8: I mean, you know, you can look at the other
- 1:29:29Speaker 8: things within context, but if they can't put up numbers,
- 1:29:32Speaker 8: then what are we even talking about? You know, always
- 1:29:35Speaker 8: on a great team like well, I mean, but in
- 1:29:38Speaker 8: the context of Western Kentucky, you know, but at least competition.
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: M But I kind of agree with Mike. I don't
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: really think those four things are all.
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: I am stats when when they're not from Western Kentucky,
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: if that makes sense.
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: I mean, these guys are all like from the roof statistically,
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: yeah right. I Mean, the only guy I ever saw
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: that made the NFL was that guy that the Jets
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: started this year, Tim Boyle is the only college quarterback
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: I ever saw that sucked in college.
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: That's true.
- 1:30:12Speaker 8: Well, but and by that thing too, So you're you know,
- 1:30:14Speaker 8: you're kind of intimating that you're searching for a highly
- 1:30:18Speaker 8: productive player in the SEC who wasn't really on a
- 1:30:21Speaker 8: great team. You know, it didn't have a lot of
- 1:30:23Speaker 8: talent around him. Jay Cutler, like, that's the guy that
- 1:30:25Speaker 8: you're kind of looking at Vanderbilt.
- 1:30:28Speaker 6: That's a good one.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: That's essentially what you're looking for because.
- 1:30:30Speaker 6: He's the best player on the crappiest SEC team.
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: That's I would say competition though, does he you know,
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: does he play at a high level against good teams?
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: And how did he do with you know, like one
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: of the things I worry about with Daniels that the
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: guy Arthur I think his name is the Jaylen Daniels
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: guy against Florida State. I don't think he played great
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: against Florida State, which was one of the best defenses
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: in football the last two years. So I think he's
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: really good. Is his stat Like his stats are eye popping?
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. And I mean same thing with Caleb
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: Williams against Notre Dame, Like I don't know who that
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: person was that played against Notre Dame. Notre Dame is
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: like not even.
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: Like yeah, I mean that's a big check mark against
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: Caleb Williams. So I don't know why we don't do
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: it for everybody else. I actually do know. Caleb Williams cried.
- 1:31:21Speaker 5: He's stuck on that because other reasons.
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: You don't how many people talk about that his emotion,
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: Like it's not like the actual physical crying, it's his
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: emotional comportment. Oh oh yeah, he can't play because of that.
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: He showed a soft side himself. He's he's not tough.
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: He's not mentally tough. He's not going to fight through it.
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: That's the that's the line. That's what people think because
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: he cried.
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: Brandon is from Lexington, first time writer on Controller. I
- 1:31:49Speaker 5: wanted to hear your thoughts on the idea of double
- 1:31:51Speaker 5: dipping on wide receiver in this year's draft, even if
- 1:31:54Speaker 5: we draft Marvin Harrison with the first round pick and ps.
- 1:31:57Speaker 5: Your emergency podcast on Friday was awesome. I was having
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: a rough time and it really turned my day.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: I wouldn't double dip in the draft, but I could
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: see getting one free agency.
- 1:32:06Speaker 5: Ive it one there, and I mean, if let's just
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: say you take Marvin Harrison, I could see, like in
- 1:32:10Speaker 5: the sixth round, taking another. But is that considered double dipping?
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: But I get what your point is, and I like
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: Tamara's idea of getting a veteran and a rookie.
- 1:32:22Speaker 8: I think you just got to be conscious of how
- 1:32:24Speaker 8: many people you have, like I laid out, and how
- 1:32:26Speaker 8: are you going to push the roster?
- 1:32:28Speaker 5: You just push him off the roster.
- 1:32:29Speaker 8: Yeah, you know what, but you know, if you two hands,
- 1:32:32Speaker 8: you know, but if you let's say resign Kendrick Bourne.
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: You know, like, would you rather do that or would
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: you rather do that or sign a veteran free agent.
- 1:32:40Speaker 8: I'd probably be more intrigued by a veteran free agent too,
- 1:32:43Speaker 8: but just because I kind of know what it is
- 1:32:45Speaker 8: with Born. He's coming off an injury, but you know
- 1:32:47Speaker 8: it's the same thing. It's like, are we just I mean,
- 1:32:49Speaker 8: in a perfect world, I feel like you're building towards
- 1:32:52Speaker 8: we have. Like I said, you get somebody who can
- 1:32:54Speaker 8: play with Pop Douglas in the slot, someone else on
- 1:32:57Speaker 8: the that side, and then, like I said, with I'm
- 1:32:59Speaker 8: resigned to Arker just being the outside guy again this year,
- 1:33:01Speaker 8: and I don't like that. I am, and if Harrison
- 1:33:03Speaker 8: were to come in, he could be that guy. But
- 1:33:06Speaker 8: I just think he's one where you kind of have
- 1:33:08Speaker 8: to bite the bullet.
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: I'm willing to. I'm willing to push Juju off the rock.
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:33:12Speaker 8: You can't add for more receivers because they I mean,
- 1:33:16Speaker 8: like in the perfect world, you push everybody up there,
- 1:33:17Speaker 8: but I think there's only one.
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: That we all have to know that it's not going
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: to happen all at once. Like you can't just say, well,
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: they need to double dip at that one, and you
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: need to get tackles and hopefully the quarterback situation, Yeah,
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: that would be unbelievable, but it's probably unrealistic to just
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: fix it all at once now.
- 1:33:35Speaker 8: And that's why I think just you know, if you
- 1:33:37Speaker 8: plug in one really good receiver with Parker and Douglas
- 1:33:40Speaker 8: is kind of your top trio.
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:33:41Speaker 6: I like that.
- 1:33:42Speaker 8: I think you're starting to build with something and we'll
- 1:33:44Speaker 8: you know, talk about the exposition.
- 1:33:45Speaker 5: Next Matt Morale get the rim shot, Ready Ford and Savannah.
- 1:33:49Speaker 5: George just says, since Mayo was the coach, will he
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: be running the spread offense?
- 1:33:55Speaker 8: That's funny, yeah, the Mayo jokes.
- 1:34:01Speaker 5: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: So I think I asked this a couple of weeks ago,
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: but I think it's worth talking about again, the whole
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: offensive line thing, Like, do you think there's a chance
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: that they're going to get a chance to take a
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: tackle in the top ten if they want to, Like
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: let's say it's like Penny Sewell and he hits right
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: from the start with Sean Slater, you know, really good
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: player right out of the shoot. Isn't there a chance
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: your offensive line is not an issue? Next year.
- 1:34:29Speaker 8: Just with that, sure, I mean, cold Strange continues to
- 1:34:34Speaker 8: develop David.
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: But I think there's there's layers in there, you know,
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: David Andrews, Jake Andrews, Mafi so Strange, You're probably gonna
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: get three guys that are decent out of those five.
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: So that's four out of five spots that are okay.
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: Now I can plug in somebody on right tackle if
- 1:34:52Speaker 3: I lose a win you and it probably won't be
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: a disaster anymore. But that's a big gift because you
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: got to really hit on that pick.
- 1:34:59Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, I think to the the other thing
- 1:35:01Speaker 8: that's interesting with it is just how left side right
- 1:35:04Speaker 8: side are a little bit closer to each other than
- 1:35:06Speaker 8: used to be. It always was like you got to
- 1:35:07Speaker 8: get the left tackle, but now it's you know, you
- 1:35:09Speaker 8: need the right side too, So it's almost like, you know,
- 1:35:12Speaker 8: it's that kind of debate too, where you know, Joe
- 1:35:14Speaker 8: Alt is probably you know, the one of the only
- 1:35:17Speaker 8: that just like, at least scouting wise, seems ready.
- 1:35:19Speaker 6: To step in and play.
- 1:35:21Speaker 8: A lot of the other guys are maybe ken, but
- 1:35:23Speaker 8: are developmental, and you know they're kind of scratching.
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: That's why I said it's because just assuming a guy's
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: penny school was that's.
- 1:35:30Speaker 5: If you take panic, so you can save some money
- 1:35:32Speaker 5: by taking a right tackle.
- 1:35:33Speaker 6: There you go, There you go.
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: He's a lefty.
- 1:35:35Speaker 6: That'll be annoying to watch.
- 1:35:36Speaker 5: But Barton Poland, I like the McAdoo hiring man, clearly
- 1:35:41Speaker 5: has an eye for QB talent. Bench Eli when he
- 1:35:43Speaker 5: was washed wanted. Mahomes had Alan and Lamar in their class.
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: He's right this did you see this stuff on Twitter?
- 1:35:50Speaker 3: Evidently everybody who's excelled at the NFL in the last
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: five years he was in on before, but no one
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: would listen to him.
- 1:35:56Speaker 5: The guy may not be a great play call or
- 1:35:58Speaker 5: a leader, but clearly knows something about the QB position. Plus,
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: all those reports about him liking them are from the
- 1:36:04Speaker 5: years that they were drafted, Not like Poleon saying that
- 1:36:06Speaker 5: he had Brady as a first round talent. Uh, he
- 1:36:09Speaker 5: wasn't the Giants head coach in twenty eighteen. That's why
- 1:36:12Speaker 5: they didn't draft Alan or Lamar.
- 1:36:13Speaker 6: Okay, I think he's being serious like Mahomes.
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: Oh No, that that's serious. He is being serious. That's
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: on Twitter right now. Yeah, I've been reading it this
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: like during the show, like Allen was his favorite quarterback.
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: He wanted to trade up for Maholmes. He had Jackson,
- 1:36:31Speaker 3: Alan Jackson, I think was one to not Alan Jackson
- 1:36:33Speaker 3: in the country. No, I was going to say, Josh
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: Allen and Lamar, who does he like this year? Well,
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: evidently we just have to wait up being the starter
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: and we'll find out.
- 1:36:44Speaker 5: Let's see Johnny in mad Town not to be that
- 1:36:48Speaker 5: guy before this year's Super Bowl is even over. But
- 1:36:51Speaker 5: what about next year's draft and potential free agency class?
- 1:36:54Speaker 5: Are there any quarterbacks worth waiting for so the Patriots
- 1:36:57Speaker 5: can address tackle and receiver in this year.
- 1:37:01Speaker 6: I haven't even touched next year.
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: I think that the chances of the quarterback class being
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: stronger next year than this year are pretty small.
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: The only way I can think of his coach prime Son.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: But he needs work?
- 1:37:12Speaker 6: Oh should should here?
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: He needs work?
- 1:37:15Speaker 5: Yeah, Alex writes in Where's he from? Mount holly Ock.
- 1:37:22Speaker 5: I was listening to Paul's show yesterday after work, and
- 1:37:25Speaker 5: what irked me the most out of the usual stuff
- 1:37:28Speaker 5: that they have been spewing was the Jacoby Meyers contract talk.
- 1:37:32Speaker 5: I can't believe it was a petty million dollars that
- 1:37:34Speaker 5: Bill couldn't come up with to keep him a Patriot.
- 1:37:37Speaker 5: Whether Jacoby wanted to stay or not was up to
- 1:37:39Speaker 5: him if the offers matched, But really one million couldn't
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: get done. They instead give that same contract to a
- 1:37:47Speaker 5: guy way past his prime. And like Paul says, what
- 1:37:50Speaker 5: is the difference if a guy makes twelve yards after
- 1:37:52Speaker 5: the catch and runs or catches a past twelve yards?
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: I mean, we can really play the hits if we want.
- 1:37:57Speaker 5: I know it's in the past, and I was mad
- 1:37:59Speaker 5: when it all happened last year, but hearing all of
- 1:38:01Speaker 5: that yesterday really echoes how much Bill Bill's hand created
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: the dysfunction in the locker room for a while. I'm
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: happy to see Jacobe land elsewhere and that he blossomed
- 1:38:11Speaker 5: into a great receiver. More importantly, I hope Robin Glazier,
- 1:38:15Speaker 5: Gerrod Mayo, Elliott Wolf or whatever collaborative group is a
- 1:38:18Speaker 5: better negotiator than Bill regarding player contracts. Also, can we
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: petition the Pillsbury dough Boy to be our second mascot?
- 1:38:26Speaker 5: I vote yes, and I think this is exactly what
- 1:38:29Speaker 5: the team needs to rebrand itself off a four to
- 1:38:31Speaker 5: thirteen season. Why Pillsbury dough boy. Oh that's Alex.
- 1:38:34Speaker 6: I think it's an AVP thing.
- 1:38:36Speaker 5: Yeah, he put the doll in his locker or something
- 1:38:39Speaker 5: like that.
- 1:38:40Speaker 6: I tell you know, full disclosure.
- 1:38:41Speaker 8: I was a big Pillsbury dough boy guy as a kid,
- 1:38:45Speaker 8: Like I loved it in nursery school so much that
- 1:38:47Speaker 8: my mom tried to talk the nursery school and to
- 1:38:49Speaker 8: let me.
- 1:38:49Speaker 6: Take this little dough boy that they had there. So
- 1:38:51Speaker 6: I'm all in favor of that plan. Sorry, what is happening?
- 1:38:55Speaker 5: I think if you're a kid, everybody wanted to poke
- 1:38:57Speaker 5: him in the stomach.
- 1:38:58Speaker 6: Right, Hell yeah, any of his cookies?
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: No, remember I know who that is, the Pillsbury.
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: Do you know?
- 1:39:07Speaker 6: I said the little laugh?
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: Okay, I hate you.
- 1:39:12Speaker 5: I think it was great marketing, Like for some reason
- 1:39:16Speaker 5: it made you hungry right now? You know? Yeah, the
- 1:39:20Speaker 5: Pillsbury doughboy still going No, I like, all right, does
- 1:39:26Speaker 5: anyone know who Xavier look Jet is?
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: If we don't get Carolina.
- 1:39:30Speaker 5: Harrison, would you be interested in him in the second
- 1:39:33Speaker 5: round or even grabbing him even if we get Marvin
- 1:39:36Speaker 5: Harrison Junior.
- 1:39:38Speaker 6: I've looked at him a little bit.
- 1:39:39Speaker 5: I wasn't p s sending some D nine love to
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: to marry You're beautiful, thank you. That's Raymond.
- 1:39:48Speaker 3: Oh D nine trying to slip into the sliding right in.
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: Nice job. Yeah, I don't want to take wide receiver
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: in the first and second round.
- 1:40:05Speaker 6: No, I know that's that's silly, that's silly talk.
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: But yeah, that gets pretty good.
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: Yeah he looks good.
- 1:40:12Speaker 5: Let's go back to John at South Beach. Who's calling back?
- 1:40:15Speaker 5: What's up? John?
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: It's Johnny south Beach.
- 1:40:17Speaker 17: Puty, everyone, all right, So I am calling in to
- 1:40:25Speaker 17: chat more about the Jacoby Meyers thing. I don't know
- 1:40:28Speaker 17: if you folks already covered it on the show. My apologies,
- 1:40:30Speaker 17: I have a little been able to listen yesterday. We
- 1:40:33Speaker 17: did from like an emotional sort of like bad fan perspective.
- 1:40:39Speaker 17: I think that interview was really fascinating to me because
- 1:40:44Speaker 17: I think in like a fly way and in a
- 1:40:47Speaker 17: direct way, a lot of questions that we had were
- 1:40:49Speaker 17: sort of like answered if everything that was said was true.
- 1:40:53Speaker 17: So I was just interested to hear if you guys
- 1:40:55Speaker 17: had anything else to add or well, if what he
- 1:40:58Speaker 17: said was surprising or no.
- 1:41:00Speaker 5: But before we we before we give our take, what
- 1:41:03Speaker 5: answers do you believe were. What questions do you believe
- 1:41:06Speaker 5: were answered in the interview?
- 1:41:09Speaker 14: Uh?
- 1:41:09Speaker 17: Truly, like in terms of a number, what it would
- 1:41:12Speaker 17: have taken to have him come back again. You know,
- 1:41:15Speaker 17: It's just something that was said, but it kind of
- 1:41:17Speaker 17: sounds about right and too that like Jacoby actually did
- 1:41:22Speaker 17: want to say. I think there was a part of
- 1:41:24Speaker 17: him obviously that probably I suspect was interested in like
- 1:41:27Speaker 17: what a new start at a new organization would look like.
- 1:41:30Speaker 17: But I think there's another part of him that he
- 1:41:32Speaker 17: was like, you know, I still talk to Troy like that,
- 1:41:35Speaker 17: those were my guys.
- 1:41:36Speaker 5: Well, now, if you listen to his words, he didn't
- 1:41:39Speaker 5: actually say, oh yeah, I would have stayed if they
- 1:41:41Speaker 5: gave me the same, He said, I would have thought
- 1:41:43Speaker 5: about it.
- 1:41:45Speaker 17: They would have changed the conversation.
- 1:41:46Speaker 5: Yeah, he said it would have changed the conversation. But
- 1:41:48Speaker 5: I still think there were other factors besides money for him,
- 1:41:53Speaker 5: you know. And and if you listen to him, like,
- 1:41:56Speaker 5: you know, he came right out and said, like I
- 1:41:58Speaker 5: couldn't be me. It was you know, every day you're
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: just trying to survive, you know, And he you did
- 1:42:07Speaker 5: sense the relief that he had, you know, not that
- 1:42:10Speaker 5: he's not trying as hard when he's with the Raiders,
- 1:42:13Speaker 5: but he says like, I'm doing it for me now,
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: you know, and I'm able to be myself. And so
- 1:42:19Speaker 5: I think there were other factors besides the million dollars
- 1:42:22Speaker 5: that even if they had matched it, it still would
- 1:42:25Speaker 5: have been a decision. It wouldn't have been a slam dunk.
- 1:42:28Speaker 5: That's what I got. Really.
- 1:42:29Speaker 17: I think he said that if they freed me was
- 1:42:32Speaker 17: one of his.
- 1:42:33Speaker 5: Yeah right, and that wasn't gonna happen, you know, like
- 1:42:38Speaker 5: he's not Rob Gronkowski where he can kind of be
- 1:42:40Speaker 5: the you know, whatever he is and get away with
- 1:42:42Speaker 5: it or Julian Edelman. Bill wasn't going to allow him
- 1:42:46Speaker 5: to do that. So I think I don't think he
- 1:42:48Speaker 5: was happy, is what it was. And you know, remember
- 1:42:52Speaker 5: how he came in defensive mac, remember how he spoke
- 1:42:55Speaker 5: out about the offense in the summer. You know, I
- 1:42:58Speaker 5: don't think he was happy, and it wasn't just about money. Yeah,
- 1:43:05Speaker 5: all right, John, thanks for the call. Let's see Todd
- 1:43:08Speaker 5: North Carolina. What's up, Todd?
- 1:43:11Speaker 20: Okay, So I don't know enough about the football scouting
- 1:43:15Speaker 20: and all this other stuff. Bad Evan's not there, but
- 1:43:18Speaker 20: do we have a GM and what exactly is the
- 1:43:20Speaker 20: GM's role in the team building, Like do we need
- 1:43:22Speaker 20: to get one before these guys start doing the scouting
- 1:43:24Speaker 20: so that he can kind of paint a picture of
- 1:43:26Speaker 20: what the team should be or how does that all work.
- 1:43:29Speaker 5: It's a good question. Thanks guys, It's a good question,
- 1:43:32Speaker 5: and you know, we're seeing more and more at least
- 1:43:34Speaker 5: Elliott Wolfe kind of taking the lead on, you know,
- 1:43:38Speaker 5: finding coaches. It seems to me though that like, did
- 1:43:44Speaker 5: is there a report that Alex van Pelt was going
- 1:43:46Speaker 5: to have a say in the.
- 1:43:47Speaker 6: Draft out there? Yes?
- 1:43:49Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, So I think when it comes to the draft,
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: I think at least they're going to try to make
- 1:43:54Speaker 5: it as collaborative as possible and then maybe wolf has
- 1:43:58Speaker 5: final say or Girod has final say. One of those
- 1:44:01Speaker 5: two people will have final say. But I think they
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: are gonna seriously listen to DeMarcus Covington and whoever this
- 1:44:10Speaker 5: offensive line coach is gonna be, and obviously a VP.
- 1:44:14Speaker 5: I think they're gonna take what they have to say seriously. Now,
- 1:44:18Speaker 5: the problem is have they been doing the work that's
- 1:44:21Speaker 5: already been done, Like are they up on it or
- 1:44:23Speaker 5: is this like a crash course for these guys in
- 1:44:26Speaker 5: terms of like who's you know, what the board should be,
- 1:44:30Speaker 5: I don't.
- 1:44:30Speaker 8: Know, fright, and who fits what they're even gonna be doing,
- 1:44:33Speaker 8: which they might still be figuring out for themselves as well.
- 1:44:36Speaker 6: It's I mean, there's a lot.
- 1:44:38Speaker 5: I mean, it's almost like they have to have like
- 1:44:40Speaker 5: three plans. If we can get Caleb Williams, here's our
- 1:44:44Speaker 5: plan for the draft. If we can get Drake may
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: here's our plan for the You know, they have to
- 1:44:49Speaker 5: have all the different scenarios.
- 1:44:50Speaker 8: It's kind of interesting because you have to not be aggressiveness,
- 1:44:53Speaker 8: but you're gonna get answers right away in the draft,
- 1:44:56Speaker 8: whereas when you're fourteen fifteen you have like a moment
- 1:44:58Speaker 8: to breathe and kind of see how it's playing out.
- 1:45:01Speaker 5: But they'll be a business standpoint. If you do get
- 1:45:04Speaker 5: Caleb Williams, I think Kleenex is an obvious new sponsor,
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: right right.
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: Paul, Well, that's why you need different personnel based on
- 1:45:11Speaker 3: the quarterback, because even though they're all very similar in styles,
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: one of them cries. So you need to get guys
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: that are going to take that out of consideration. They
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: can't say like, why didn't you throw me the ball?
- 1:45:21Speaker 16: Right?
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: You can't get a Diva wide receiver if you get
- 1:45:23Speaker 3: Caleb Williams because you might ask them, right, what are
- 1:45:25Speaker 3: you doing? I was wide open? And that you're done.
- 1:45:28Speaker 6: Like opposing teams might.
- 1:45:29Speaker 3: You're done.
- 1:45:29Speaker 8: Old Yeller up on the video board and it's just
- 1:45:31Speaker 8: you know, it's it's cascading down his face where we
- 1:45:34Speaker 8: can't even play because it's just so sad.
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: Okay, guys, speaking of sponsor brought to you by the
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism. Great memories are made
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: in Massachusetts, no matter how you choose to make them,
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: indoors or outdoors, scenic views or city vibes, solo or
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: family style, whatever moves you, whatever the season, plan your
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: perfect Massachusetts getaway at VISITMA dot com.
- 1:45:55Speaker 5: Good Tamarrow, she's crushing it, good, crushing it, jacking in abba. Oh,
- 1:46:00Speaker 5: I got away for Paul to read this one? Gosh
- 1:46:02Speaker 5: getting another two leaders? Did he drink that whole bottom?
- 1:46:05Speaker 6: No?
- 1:46:05Speaker 5: No?
- 1:46:06Speaker 6: Almost almost?
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: Oh, put it back. I'm done with you, Jacket and Arbor.
- 1:46:12Speaker 5: Baker Mayfield had a breakout season last year. He demonstrated
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: that he's a championship level quarterback. He's much better than
- 1:46:19Speaker 5: Kirk Cousins. The Patriots should sign Mayfield as a transitional quarterback,
- 1:46:23Speaker 5: then draft the quarterback or the future in the upcoming draft.
- 1:46:26Speaker 5: Mayfield will buy the Patriot's time while the draft d
- 1:46:29Speaker 5: takes a few years to develop. Here's what I have
- 1:46:32Speaker 5: to say.
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: That would be true. But here's what I But you're
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: willing to pay forty million?
- 1:46:36Speaker 5: No, but here's what I have to say to that.
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: If he's better than Kirk Cousins, you've got your quarterback.
- 1:46:42Speaker 3: In my opinion, Yeah, okay, So are you going to
- 1:46:44Speaker 3: give him forty times five?
- 1:46:48Speaker 5: Uh? How much of it is guaranteed? Half?
- 1:46:53Speaker 6: Half?
- 1:46:53Speaker 5: Maybe?
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: Okay. I'm not interested if I believe he's because I
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: don't believe he's a championship caliber quarterback.
- 1:46:59Speaker 5: But I'm saying if the if what he's saying is right,
- 1:47:02Speaker 5: and he is better than Kirk Cousins, then he deserves them.
- 1:47:05Speaker 3: I'm not interested in Kirk Cousins at that. I'm just okay, So,
- 1:47:08Speaker 3: like you're saying, just because he's better than Kirk Cousins,
- 1:47:10Speaker 3: I need him to be better as good as Patrick Mahomes.
- 1:47:12Speaker 6: Well, No, right, Okay, like I need him to be.
- 1:47:15Speaker 5: Side Patrick Mahoon.
- 1:47:16Speaker 3: If I'm fred, That's not what I said.
- 1:47:19Speaker 5: If I'm going to be as good as Patrick Mahomes, if.
- 1:47:21Speaker 3: I'm going to commit to him like that, I need
- 1:47:24Speaker 3: him to be an upper echelon quarterback. I don't believe
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: he is.
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: Okay, but I if, and I don't know.
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: Being better than Kirk Cousins doesn't make him an upper
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: echelon quarterback to me is my point.
- 1:47:33Speaker 5: Oh, I think it does.
- 1:47:34Speaker 3: It doesn't.
- 1:47:35Speaker 5: I think it does.
- 1:47:36Speaker 6: I'm with Paul. I think, like I'm looking at, is
- 1:47:37Speaker 6: this guy going to get This guy.
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: Can get me to the playoffs every year and I
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: can be the six or seventh seed, or if I'm
- 1:47:43Speaker 3: in a terrible division, I could be the fourth seed
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: Kirk Baker Mayfield did this year.
- 1:47:47Speaker 5: If quarterbacks in the NFL, no, No.
- 1:47:50Speaker 3: Not in my opinion.
- 1:47:51Speaker 5: No.
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: Now that changes, that can change from year to year.
- 1:47:54Speaker 3: But I don't think that he's getting you where you
- 1:47:56Speaker 3: want to go.
- 1:47:56Speaker 6: I mean maybe he's around there, but he's trending.
- 1:48:00Speaker 5: Really because he got hurt because he was friending up,
- 1:48:02Speaker 5: because he's old.
- 1:48:03Speaker 8: I mean, he's played with I mean, I think we've
- 1:48:05Speaker 8: probably seen the best of Kirk Cousins that we've seen.
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: I would agree with I would agree with Deuce, and
- 1:48:09Speaker 3: I like Kirk Cousins, I just don't love him.
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: But better than Kirk Cousins, to me, is a starting
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: quarterback in the NFL that can win you the championship.
- 1:48:17Speaker 3: If everything you know, Kirk Cousins can't win you a championship,
- 1:48:19Speaker 3: and I don't think Baker Mayfield can't either, but I'm.
- 1:48:22Speaker 5: Saying better than Kirk Cousins can do it.
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean more of Cousins than I do.
- 1:48:28Speaker 5: I guess I do.
- 1:48:29Speaker 8: No.
- 1:48:29Speaker 3: I mean, I think he's a ten to twenty guy,
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: not a not a one to ten guy. But I
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: mean I don't have the numbers in front of me.
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: Maybe he's you hook him up with a VP winning
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: for me.
- 1:48:39Speaker 6: I mean, I see what you're saying.
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: For, but I I he was already hooked up with
- 1:48:42Speaker 3: a VP. Yeah.
- 1:48:43Speaker 6: I really respond to what Paul was saying just about.
- 1:48:46Speaker 8: You know, if this guy can't, if I can't convince
- 1:48:49Speaker 8: myself that this quarterback can get us past Josh Allen
- 1:48:51Speaker 8: Tua and Mahomes like, then I don't really want it,
- 1:48:55Speaker 8: you know, Like I want to build to that, like
- 1:48:56Speaker 8: I'd rather have a guy that I at least can
- 1:48:59Speaker 8: you know, fake my self out, in which I'd say
- 1:49:01Speaker 8: I'd rather have Jacoby Pressett for a year, saying all right,
- 1:49:03Speaker 8: yes it, we're just holding the seat, but we put
- 1:49:05Speaker 8: some other pieces that will get us back past the
- 1:49:08Speaker 8: Chiefs and the Bills and the Dolphins. You know, then
- 1:49:10Speaker 8: if we got to go find the quarterback next year,
- 1:49:12Speaker 8: we'll try next year too. But it's a I don't know,
- 1:49:15Speaker 8: I just I don't really want to spin my wheels
- 1:49:17Speaker 8: with some guy who's going to get us into the
- 1:49:18Speaker 8: seventh seed and then you go into Kansas City or
- 1:49:20Speaker 8: Buffalo in the first round you get smoked.
- 1:49:22Speaker 5: Ellen what Wisconsin says, Wow, Fred is absolutely nailing the
- 1:49:26Speaker 5: Reeds today.
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: We did we should have mentioned that at the top.
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: We did hire a an announcer, a professional announcer. So
- 1:49:35Speaker 3: now we have reads.
- 1:49:36Speaker 6: Right up, not you, that's you may.
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: Now she's thinking, she's like, do I get am.
- 1:49:43Speaker 6: I already out so there'll be no money.
- 1:49:45Speaker 5: Spein Fresnow says Paul's sympathy for Caleb Williams is completely understandable.
- 1:49:50Speaker 5: Whether it's Dogs Greats or John Hughes movies. Paul is
- 1:49:53Speaker 5: a big time crier and admirably stands up for his
- 1:49:57Speaker 5: own kind.
- 1:49:58Speaker 3: It's true, I am a crier. You all right, Uh,
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: let's go back.
- 1:50:03Speaker 5: To the phones. We'll go with to Trey in Memphis.
- 1:50:06Speaker 5: What's up, Tray, Hey.
- 1:50:09Speaker 13: Guys, how's it going?
- 1:50:10Speaker 5: All right?
- 1:50:12Speaker 13: Hey, Tamary, I heard you of Divine nine, so I'm
- 1:50:15Speaker 13: winning to benue a k.
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: Yes, you're correct, Okay, well I'm part of Divine nine.
- 1:50:20Speaker 13: Also, Mago south Fire Paternity played in Missisippi Valley State.
- 1:50:25Speaker 13: That's amazing, all right, So let's get to the Paul everybody.
- 1:50:34Speaker 13: As far as the receivers goal, I had a chance
- 1:50:36Speaker 13: to put my eyes on Elak neighbors I think that's
- 1:50:40Speaker 13: his name, or the receivers chance to see him. I
- 1:50:45Speaker 13: had a chance to see him against old men. Man.
- 1:50:48Speaker 13: That kid has all the juice you want.
- 1:50:51Speaker 6: He has juice, he's awesome.
- 1:50:53Speaker 13: So even though he has juice, I still want to
- 1:50:58Speaker 13: go back. I mean, I want to go well. I
- 1:51:02Speaker 13: just feel like this is what we have to do.
- 1:51:04Speaker 13: And as far as Kayler Williams, I understand of the
- 1:51:08Speaker 13: emotional side, I mean, but I think those tears came
- 1:51:12Speaker 13: from just really being pitched off because the kid ran
- 1:51:15Speaker 13: for his life, never blamed anybody. I always said, he
- 1:51:20Speaker 13: wish he could have did more for the team to win.
- 1:51:24Speaker 13: I mean, so I just think those tiers, those were
- 1:51:26Speaker 13: tiers of frustrations because when you think about it, a
- 1:51:29Speaker 13: lot of people are you know, they said the kid
- 1:51:33Speaker 13: has character issues, not once that the kid blamed anyone.
- 1:51:37Speaker 13: He didn't throw anybody under the bus he I mean,
- 1:51:40Speaker 13: so the character issue apart, I kind of have you know,
- 1:51:44Speaker 13: issue with that. I mean, but you know, the kid
- 1:51:47Speaker 13: is a superb talent. I mean, so I'm not gonna
- 1:51:52Speaker 13: hold those tiers against him. I mean, so what you
- 1:51:55Speaker 13: gotta speak about that, I'll take it off the air.
- 1:51:57Speaker 5: Okay, Yeah, hey he just stopped playing.
- 1:52:00Speaker 6: Yeah, Rudy, get you Rudy. The movie?
- 1:52:03Speaker 8: Uh no, when the brother the brother not not not
- 1:52:08Speaker 8: crying anatomy?
- 1:52:11Speaker 5: I mean, come on, he went to high school with
- 1:52:13Speaker 5: Meredith Gray.
- 1:52:14Speaker 6: It's personal.
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: Wait a minute, what why have you never told.
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: Me this because I don't really like her? Yeah, Ellen, Pompio,
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: it was Pompio, then it's Pompeo.
- 1:52:24Speaker 6: Now I believe like POMPEII.
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: Right, Wow, is.
- 1:52:30Speaker 6: That still yeah.
- 1:52:31Speaker 5: Wow, that's a long running It is just.
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: Like long order rhymes like billions, now no particular order.
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: I have fifteen that I would take over Mayfield or
- 1:52:42Speaker 3: her cousins.
- 1:52:43Speaker 5: Okay, I love the.
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: Mahomes, Alan Burrow, Jackson, Hurt, Stafford, Tour, Rogers, Watson, Stroud, Herbert, Lawrence, Prescott,
- 1:52:50Speaker 3: Love and Murray. And I don't think I hit every
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: team yet, Like, I just got to the point where
- 1:52:56Speaker 3: I got that many.
- 1:52:56Speaker 6: And Okay, I thought you're gonna say fifteen movies.
- 1:52:59Speaker 5: I don't think Murray is the only one I might not.
- 1:53:02Speaker 3: Well, I figured you'd have a problem too.
- 1:53:04Speaker 5: Oh yeah, two or two? Two or two? Andrew and Maine.
- 1:53:09Speaker 5: What's up? Andrew?
- 1:53:12Speaker 19: Hey guys, first time caller.
- 1:53:14Speaker 5: Thanks.
- 1:53:17Speaker 33: Two quick questions. We talked about getting rid of Mac
- 1:53:23Speaker 33: Jones and Bailey Zappy. First thoughts would be what what
- 1:53:27Speaker 33: would we get for draft capital for them? Or are
- 1:53:29Speaker 33: we just cutting them?
- 1:53:30Speaker 3: I'm not even considering that conditional sixth Yeah, maybe seventh.
- 1:53:35Speaker 5: Yeah, it's not even Yeah, I don't.
- 1:53:37Speaker 3: I don't think there's much. Yeah, I mean talk about
- 1:53:41Speaker 3: a depressed asset. Yeah, Mac Jones, Yeah.
- 1:53:44Speaker 19: I assumed as much. But then the second question would
- 1:53:47Speaker 19: be if we do take Jad and Daniels as three,
- 1:53:50Speaker 19: what becomes more important in the second round the tackle
- 1:53:54Speaker 19: or a wide receiver. Just given Daniels, Yeah.
- 1:53:59Speaker 3: It's hard you take him.
- 1:54:00Speaker 8: You're going to watch the train go by with the
- 1:54:02Speaker 8: tackle if you take But if you take Jan Daniels,
- 1:54:04Speaker 8: do you need a certain type of tackle, like a
- 1:54:06Speaker 8: more athletic guy.
- 1:54:08Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: I don't think so, but I think tackle will be
- 1:54:11Speaker 3: more important because you got a young quarterback. I think
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: the prior.
- 1:54:14Speaker 8: That's my instinct, and I think still like I would
- 1:54:17Speaker 8: feel fine getting a pretty good wide receiver, maybe not
- 1:54:20Speaker 8: like potential elite kind of guy, but somebody can come
- 1:54:22Speaker 8: in contribute.
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: And that's where Higgins, Yeah, you sign a guy in
- 1:54:27Speaker 3: free agency, it's not going to be that. But yeah,
- 1:54:30Speaker 3: I agree with Fred. You get a veteran wide receiver,
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: you're not probably getting a veteran tackle. I mean, that's
- 1:54:34Speaker 3: not a great class of free agent tackle.
- 1:54:37Speaker 8: And that's why it's like we sit here in early February,
- 1:54:39Speaker 8: like things are going to change so much as free
- 1:54:41Speaker 8: agency happens, because they're going to address some of these
- 1:54:43Speaker 8: positions with you know, I mean, they'll they'll retain some
- 1:54:46Speaker 8: of their own free agents, and you know, maybe one
- 1:54:48Speaker 8: of these needs probably I mean probably not quarterback, tackler.
- 1:54:51Speaker 5: I'm with Freddie wide receiver guys come available in the
- 1:54:55Speaker 5: summer that you didn't expect.
- 1:54:56Speaker 3: Absolutely those post June. First.
- 1:54:58Speaker 6: I've heard that before.
- 1:54:59Speaker 3: Actually, that you now designate in like April, that's like
- 1:55:03Speaker 3: going in the future. What else?
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: Andrew, you said you had two points that, Okay.
- 1:55:10Speaker 3: Appreciate you what you get for Jones and Zappi.
- 1:55:13Speaker 5: And then I mean, obviously you want to get something
- 1:55:15Speaker 5: for these guys. You know, you don't want.
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: To I think you could get a conditional drug.
- 1:55:19Speaker 5: To me, it's not a factor. I think it's just
- 1:55:21Speaker 5: more just a cleansing starting over.
- 1:55:24Speaker 6: Well, it's like we talked about it.
- 1:55:25Speaker 8: I think I think some of mac Jones's problems are
- 1:55:27Speaker 8: specific to the Patriots, and I'm sure that there are
- 1:55:29Speaker 8: other personnel staffs out there that liked him coming out
- 1:55:31Speaker 8: and said, you know, and again, it's like quarterbacks are
- 1:55:34Speaker 8: their own special class, Like he'll get a chance again
- 1:55:37Speaker 8: somewhere else.
- 1:55:38Speaker 6: That's just the nature of the position. I mean, it's
- 1:55:39Speaker 6: just the league is desperate for quarterbacks.
- 1:55:41Speaker 5: Like Paul mentioned this kid from the Jets that play right.
- 1:55:45Speaker 5: If he can have a job, Mac Jones can certainly
- 1:55:47Speaker 5: have it.
- 1:55:47Speaker 3: Oh, he's definitely going to have a job. Will he
- 1:55:49Speaker 3: ever be a starting quarterback for someone again is the question.
- 1:55:52Speaker 3: But he's definitely He's not going to be out of
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: the league.
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: Next year if Sam Donald has a job Jones.
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: Sam Donald was far better as the quarterback of the
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: Jets Jaredan.
- 1:56:04Speaker 5: No buzz for free agency this year, seems we all
- 1:56:06Speaker 5: skipped ahead to the draft. Mayo said, we have cash
- 1:56:09Speaker 5: to burn, but how much do we want to spend
- 1:56:11Speaker 5: on a rebuilding team. I don't think I want a
- 1:56:14Speaker 5: bunch of high price free agents here in twenty twenty four.
- 1:56:17Speaker 5: I wonder if dumping Parker and Smith Schuster counts as
- 1:56:19Speaker 5: burning cast.
- 1:56:20Speaker 3: Well, how about going back to the future and doing
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: the two thousand and one method. Yeah, of quantity, Yeah,
- 1:56:29Speaker 3: just sign a bunch of free agents. No big money guys,
- 1:56:32Speaker 3: No necessarily guys that are gonna like gone her headlines.
- 1:56:36Speaker 3: But think about some of those players that you got
- 1:56:39Speaker 3: Rabel and yeah, you know that whole crew with Mike
- 1:56:42Speaker 3: Compton and Mike Grabel, Larry Larry, and I hear what
- 1:56:48Speaker 3: you're saying, I just love like they weren't big name guys,
- 1:56:51Speaker 3: but but a lot of them were really valuable.
- 1:56:53Speaker 8: Yeah, I'd love to be just I mean, you know,
- 1:56:56Speaker 8: and they were able to get a left tackle in
- 1:56:57Speaker 8: the second round that year too, so you know, like
- 1:56:59Speaker 8: it's I just would like some splashes.
- 1:57:02Speaker 6: I think they need to make. I think I think
- 1:57:04Speaker 6: they need to.
- 1:57:04Speaker 8: As much as we want to talk about offense, I
- 1:57:06Speaker 8: think defensively they need to look at pass rusher. You know,
- 1:57:10Speaker 8: I know Josh Allen probably not getting away from the Jags,
- 1:57:12Speaker 8: but you know there's a number of good pass rusher
- 1:57:15Speaker 8: defensive front. Guy Greenard from Houston's another one, you know,
- 1:57:18Speaker 8: not a huge, huge name, but I think that's a position.
- 1:57:21Speaker 8: And you know, Jennings and ucha are are free agents too,
- 1:57:23Speaker 8: but Judon getting old, probably gonna have a contract issue.
- 1:57:26Speaker 8: He's gonna want dealt with this summer. I think that's
- 1:57:28Speaker 8: an area to look at too, is just to give them,
- 1:57:30Speaker 8: you know, don't give him a ton on defense. I
- 1:57:32Speaker 8: don't think you need it, but I do think that
- 1:57:33Speaker 8: front seven needs some.
- 1:57:34Speaker 5: Before we close out the show, at half time, we
