- 0:28SPEAKER_00: If you were to make a list of the most creative people from the last hundred years, Steve Jobs would be close to the top of that list.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: As the co-founder of Apple, he was in large part responsible for many of the devices and apps we use today, such as the Mac, iTunes, the iPhone, the iPad, and lots of others.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Especially in his later years, Steve Jobs was adored and admired for his visionary approach and his absolute refusal to go along with the status quo.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: But he wasn't always the cultural icon that he is today.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: In 1997, Steve Jobs had been gone from Apple for 12 years after a painful exit in 1985.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Now that he was back in command trying to turn the struggling company around, there was no magic bullet and no surefire gimmick or product that would help make Apple successful again.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: So he began to search for the marketing agency that would help put Apple back on the map.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Steve Jobs was looking for the perfect message that would communicate Apple's renewed vision, and this process culminated in the now famous Think Different commercial, which featured Jobs giving a narration over images and clips of people such as Albert Einstein, Jim Henson, Martin Luther King Jr., Amelia Earhart, and many others.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: He said, Here's two the crazy ones the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs and the square holes, the ones who see things differently.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: They're not fond of rules.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: They push the human race forward.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones who do.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Today, whoever is listening to this, whoever is tempted to settle for the status quo, whoever wants to live an ordinary life, if you are a little bit crazy, this is for you.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: We're not going to make a difference by doing the same things as everybody else does.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Be bold, be different, be willing to be misunderstood by other people.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: That's not just the price of being different.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: It's the price of being a writer who makes a difference.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Here's to the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world.
