- 0:18Speaker 1: Turn to Glory Podcast Sunday, October thirteenth, Hunter's Arberniki, Austin Roads, Dakota,
- 0:29Speaker 1: Free Tag driving out a new software tonight using Google
- 0:33Speaker 1: Meet instead of Zoom. Looks like our picture quality is
- 0:36Speaker 1: a little better. This is the kind of stuff you
- 0:38Speaker 1: get to do on bye weeks. You get experiment right
- 0:42Speaker 1: on a beach. Comparents for the Nebraska basketball trip to Hawaii,
- 0:50Speaker 1: in my case State Tominaga, Jersey.
- 0:58Speaker 2: We've been we've working on for about about the last
- 1:01Speaker 2: half hour, but we're we're on Google now, so there
- 1:04Speaker 2: we go.
- 1:06Speaker 3: You know, if this footage never makes it out there,
- 1:08Speaker 3: you know that's this is the week for it to
- 1:10Speaker 3: not work and crash.
- 1:12Speaker 2: If everything crashes, don't blame us. Well, we are going
- 1:18Speaker 2: through Nebraska basketball, nebrasketball as we like to call it,
- 1:23Speaker 2: for the twenty four five season Tonight. We'll throw in
- 1:28Speaker 2: some football talk here towards the end of the episode,
- 1:30Speaker 2: but gotta give coach Hoyberg and this team some preseason
- 1:37Speaker 2: talk coming off the Big NCAA Tournament birth But still
- 1:44Speaker 2: no when if we lost Texas A and M and
- 1:47Speaker 2: Trev Alberts in the tournament last year, this year we're
- 1:53Speaker 2: back with a bunch of new pieces as normal or
- 1:57Speaker 2: a fred Hoiburg team. I got my case a jersey
- 2:01Speaker 2: on for one last time. Then we won't see it again.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I'm gonna retire to jersey. I'm gonna put on the sweatshirt.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Case you will be missed. That's gonna be a key
- 2:12Speaker 2: to replace him.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I think we might add some pieces, but man, was
- 2:16Speaker 1: he fun to watch dak Any last words the Case
- 2:19Speaker 1: or wait? You did talk to Case after? Maybe he's
- 2:23Speaker 1: coming back this year?
- 2:25Speaker 4: Yes, I was doing a little reporting.
- 2:30Speaker 5: And uh.
- 2:31Speaker 4: I asked him he gonna come back next year? And
- 2:33Speaker 4: he said no.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I said, well, okay, first off, there's a lot all
- 2:36Speaker 2: involved in this. I said why not? He said I
- 2:39Speaker 2: can't What he said? Good good stuffing. Anyway, long story
- 2:45Speaker 2: short is he's not coming back.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Over found the mat.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Austin Any parting words for kse Dominaga, He'll be missed.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I feel like it's worthy giving him some another moment.
- 3:01Speaker 6: He made us nationally relevant for a year. I mean
- 3:04Speaker 6: the Japanese Steph Curry.
- 3:07Speaker 3: We made it on our Nebraska basketball had no business
- 3:09Speaker 3: being on ESPN, but it made a couple of segments
- 3:12Speaker 3: on ESPN.
- 3:14Speaker 6: So congrats, you did it, Kaise.
- 3:18Speaker 1: We love ourselves our case and as we mentioned, he's
- 3:21Speaker 1: gonna be tough to replace, especially on the offensive end.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Maybe not so much defensively, but what he was able
- 3:28Speaker 1: to do on the offensive end, being that threat right
- 3:30Speaker 1: across a court, no matter with the ball or without
- 3:33Speaker 1: the ball, it really allowed us to do a lot
- 3:36Speaker 1: of different things. So Nebraska Basketball preview, Fred Hoiberg, head coach.
- 3:43Speaker 1: This might be an underrated thing that won't get talked about,
- 3:46Speaker 1: probably at all, but we return all three of the
- 3:49Speaker 1: head assistant coaches and Adam Howard, Nate Lenzer, and Ernie Ziegler.
- 3:55Speaker 1: That's important, I think, especially for Hoiberg who's had a
- 3:58Speaker 1: lot of turnover on his staff, whether they're leaving the
- 4:01Speaker 1: other places or Weiberg just choosing to replace him. I
- 4:06Speaker 1: think we saw some very solid progress this year, and
- 4:11Speaker 1: these coaches are a big reason why. So the assistant
- 4:14Speaker 1: coaches never do they don't get enough credit here for
- 4:17Speaker 1: how they are helping Hoiburg. So shout out again to
- 4:21Speaker 1: the staff and what they did last year to get
- 4:24Speaker 1: us st where they are. But it's time to take
- 4:26Speaker 1: the next step forward with this team, especially losing a
- 4:30Speaker 1: couple of key players. But the time is now for
- 4:34Speaker 1: Nebraska basketball to not only make the NZDA Tournament back
- 4:39Speaker 1: to back years, but can we win one of them?
- 4:42Speaker 1: Can we just do it?
- 4:47Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, the big players were losing DJ Wilcher
- 4:52Speaker 3: and Casey I mean who was obviously just not Alec.
- 4:55Speaker 6: I guess would have been the other big guy that
- 4:56Speaker 6: we're losing.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Now is he hold up before he is? Is Alex
- 5:00Speaker 2: coaching there or something? I saw him on the bench today.
- 5:02Speaker 6: He's a grad assistant coach. Correct.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I think that's talked about enough either. I think that
- 5:11Speaker 1: also is going to keep some of that continuity and
- 5:13Speaker 1: you know he's going to be a coach, but he
- 5:16Speaker 1: has that mindset of this team and is going to
- 5:20Speaker 1: want us to move forward from last year. And JaMarcus
- 5:24Speaker 1: Lawrence the other one, Boogie Coleman Eli Right. A couple
- 5:27Speaker 1: other guys to mention.
- 5:29Speaker 3: But they were huge, but they're definitely worth mentioning.
- 5:36Speaker 1: There were four starters, I mean, case Alec, JaMarcus, Lawrence, Wilcher.
- 5:41Speaker 1: They didn't all start every game, but they all started
- 5:43Speaker 1: at some point during the year. There they're guys that
- 5:46Speaker 1: gonna are gonna need replaced. The other one. He's not
- 5:50Speaker 1: off the team, but rank mast is going to be
- 5:54Speaker 1: out for this entire season. We knew that a while ago.
- 5:57Speaker 1: He is going to come back though for a year
- 6:00Speaker 1: or after this. So he's on the team, but he
- 6:04Speaker 1: also is a departure, which from last year's team.
- 6:07Speaker 3: That's the that's honestly the biggest loss, I think, more
- 6:11Speaker 3: so than case.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Say, to be honest, yes, yes, what did not so
- 6:16Speaker 2: what did the cl or what what's the hurt with.
- 6:20Speaker 1: He had surgery? Complete surgery on his knee? Yeah, knee.
- 6:26Speaker 6: It.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Here's here's my big thing as we look to rebuild
- 6:31Speaker 1: this roster, and you know some of the previews that
- 6:33Speaker 1: you google it and read it online, how is Hoyber
- 6:37Speaker 1: going to call it? Assemble the puzzle pieces? You know,
- 6:40Speaker 1: you're you're bringing in all these different guys, right, and
- 6:42Speaker 1: you're coming off of one of the more successful years
- 6:45Speaker 1: Nebraska basketball has had in the past fifteen years. It's
- 6:50Speaker 1: how how are you replacing it? Are you trying to
- 6:55Speaker 1: replace the same piece as you're obviously bringing in new pieces?
- 6:58Speaker 1: How do those fit together? And what does that mean
- 7:02Speaker 1: for your style? Your system? I feel like we established
- 7:05Speaker 1: a good offensive system and defensive mindset last year, the
- 7:10Speaker 1: pre prior year, So what does that look like. I
- 7:13Speaker 1: don't know. There's a whole lot of known answers to
- 7:16Speaker 1: that question yet, but Austin, like, what are your thoughts
- 7:19Speaker 1: on how Hoiberg is going to piece all this together?
- 7:21Speaker 1: Not specifically get into players, but just the approach that
- 7:25Speaker 1: you take with the transfers, because he does a lot
- 7:27Speaker 1: of it. He does a lot he does.
- 7:29Speaker 3: I think the biggest concern, like I said, we had,
- 7:32Speaker 3: we have some key departures this year going into up
- 7:35Speaker 3: from last year. I agree, the biggest concern is just
- 7:38Speaker 3: the cohesion. Last year's team was kind of a runback
- 7:40Speaker 3: of the team before, so there's a little bit more
- 7:43Speaker 3: jellying and a little bit better I don't know, want
- 7:46Speaker 3: to say team mindset, but they kind of care read
- 7:48Speaker 3: each other a little bit better. And so this year
- 7:50Speaker 3: we have a lot more transfers that have probably got
- 7:52Speaker 3: to play bigger roles, and that's where it's gonna be
- 7:54Speaker 3: a little bit clunky. We've kind of seen them in
- 7:56Speaker 3: the past where some transfers just don't gel with other
- 8:00Speaker 3: I'm hoping that this year, since Juan Gary and Bryce
- 8:03Speaker 3: Williams are back I kind of think there are two
- 8:04Speaker 3: of our more you know, they're they might they weren't
- 8:08Speaker 3: their best players last year, where they're probably our third
- 8:10Speaker 3: and fourth best players, and they're kind of glue guys
- 8:12Speaker 3: and they kind of fit in the middle.
- 8:14Speaker 6: You just want to You can.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Coach defense pretty well, like I think that trans that
- 8:23Speaker 3: that coaching transfers.
- 8:24Speaker 6: A lot more easily than offensive efficiency. I could be wrong.
- 8:29Speaker 3: You're the basketball coach here, but and it's mostly an
- 8:32Speaker 3: effort side of the ball. So you're hoping that that
- 8:35Speaker 3: carries over and that's how that's how you build off
- 8:37Speaker 3: of last year. You just kind of keep that same,
- 8:39Speaker 3: like you said, defensive mentality and that defensive effort, and
- 8:42Speaker 3: you hope that the new players the offense efficiency is
- 8:44Speaker 3: going to follow along.
- 8:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Yeah, the big the big thing is you got the
- 8:53Speaker 2: back Gary and Bryce Williams.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Like you said about the rink mast uh, the.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Rank mass loss, that's gonna really hurt because well he's
- 9:04Speaker 2: he was really good defending your missiles, rebounding and stuff
- 9:07Speaker 2: and nowt now you gotta play centers.
- 9:08Speaker 4: You don't you don't know.
- 9:10Speaker 6: Yeah, he was kind of the focal point of our offensivest.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I would argue was maybe your best player on
- 9:15Speaker 2: the team county offense defense case, it was obviously the
- 9:19Speaker 2: offensive best player. But but yeah, I didn't know. I
- 9:22Speaker 2: forgot about JaMarcus Lawrence. That's a big loss too, he
- 9:25Speaker 2: really got. I think it's a big loss. He it
- 9:28Speaker 2: got really bad, a lot better as the year went on.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Last year, I thought towards the end of it, I'm
- 9:32Speaker 2: not for sure where he went.
- 9:33Speaker 1: But JaMarcus is a provide sparks like it keep times. Yeah,
- 9:40Speaker 1: also kind of played point guard along with Bryce. He
- 9:44Speaker 1: wasn't the true point guard though that I feel like
- 9:48Speaker 1: this team needed. So because of that, we did play
- 9:51Speaker 1: through rank as kind of that quite forward position. So
- 9:58Speaker 1: I do think what Hoiberg, hopefully what we have figured
- 10:02Speaker 1: out is the identification of that Nebraska mindset and culture
- 10:06Speaker 1: out of the transfer portal. Because I'll tell you what,
- 10:09Speaker 1: early on it was rough. I mean, the guys that
- 10:11Speaker 1: we were getting, I'm I don't know why he just
- 10:13Speaker 1: popped in my mind, but Alonzo Verge type of players
- 10:16Speaker 1: like those guys don't And it wasn't just him, we had.
- 10:21Speaker 1: We had others. I'm Teddy Allen like those players that
- 10:27Speaker 1: came back that they're they're they're not. Their mindsets are
- 10:31Speaker 1: not the same that we saw on a last year's
- 10:33Speaker 1: team that the culture team type players that Josiah Aleck
- 10:38Speaker 1: was now Case I think had a little bit of
- 10:40Speaker 1: something in him, But CJ. Wilcher, you saw him transform,
- 10:44Speaker 1: I think into more of a team player. Frank Mast
- 10:47Speaker 1: put the team in front of everybody else. I think
- 10:50Speaker 1: Bryce Williams does that. Juan Gary clearly does that. Their
- 10:53Speaker 1: mindsets are different than what we've seen out of some
- 10:55Speaker 1: of these guys in the past. When you're recruiting out
- 10:59Speaker 1: of the portal as a coach, obviously, talent wins overall.
- 11:04Speaker 1: I will constantly say that talent wins overall if you've
- 11:08Speaker 1: got guys that are just extremely talented, whether that be
- 11:10Speaker 1: it shooting akakse or specifically defensively or whatever that may be. Yes,
- 11:17Speaker 1: but those guys that I just mentioned before, the Verges,
- 11:22Speaker 1: the Teddy Allen, the cam Mack, those guys had talent,
- 11:26Speaker 1: but not like elite talent that I'm gonna say it.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Case was an elite shooter. So there's that piece of
- 11:34Speaker 1: when you're recruiting in the portal with these new guys
- 11:36Speaker 1: and we get a lot of them. We got eight
- 11:37Speaker 1: new transfers from the transfer portal this year, and a
- 11:40Speaker 1: lot of them are going to be playing. Is their
- 11:43Speaker 1: mindset right on what the culture is at Nebraska. The
- 11:46Speaker 1: system's gonna change. We're gonna have a different offensive look,
- 11:50Speaker 1: I think. I don't think we're gonna have the point
- 11:52Speaker 1: forward type of offense specifically that we did with the
- 11:56Speaker 1: rank Mass. It's gonna look a little different. But is
- 12:00Speaker 1: the mindset right? Think that's the key thing that you mentioned,
- 12:03Speaker 1: Austin so I mentioned. Yeah, ten new players on this team.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Two freshmen coming in in the recruiting class in Brendan
- 12:13Speaker 1: Frager and Nick Janowski. I don't know that either of
- 12:15Speaker 1: them will see the court this year. Janowski maybe he
- 12:18Speaker 1: can shoot threes from what I saw. But eight transfers
- 12:23Speaker 1: in and guys we have a just like last year,
- 12:27Speaker 1: a veteran.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Roster.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I have ten guys written down from guard to center
- 12:36Speaker 1: of guys that I think could play minutes. I don't
- 12:39Speaker 1: know how that's all gonna work out. In fact, I
- 12:42Speaker 1: don't even really know a starting lineup. I think in
- 12:45Speaker 1: the past we've been able to pinpoint who that is
- 12:47Speaker 1: going to be. There's a lot of depth on this
- 12:51Speaker 1: team from a top to bottom standpoint. Sometimes that can
- 12:55Speaker 1: be a negative though without an elite star, I think
- 13:01Speaker 1: we're figuring out to play together as a team, you
- 13:04Speaker 1: know again, as we look top to bottom, as you
- 13:07Speaker 1: guys have the same feeling, Dack.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Start with you.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I feel like there's a lot of depth
- 13:13Speaker 2: on this team.
- 13:14Speaker 4: Like you said about the star, I don't.
- 13:19Speaker 2: You don't have one right now, but you can easily
- 13:20Speaker 2: see someone on his team turing end of the star.
- 13:22Speaker 2: I think it's one Gary could any I think could
- 13:27Speaker 2: be like the leader too, like Rank Mass when he
- 13:29Speaker 2: lost him.
- 13:30Speaker 4: But I think, yeah, Gary will be basically a leader
- 13:32Speaker 4: on this team.
- 13:35Speaker 3: I think Bryce Williams could too. I agree with the depth.
- 13:39Speaker 3: It's also kind of nice not only we're older, which
- 13:42Speaker 3: it's also interesting because it's just a different aspect from
- 13:44Speaker 3: what the football team's doing. It's like total opposite where
- 13:47Speaker 3: the football team's pretty young crosswise and the basketball team
- 13:51Speaker 3: has two freshmen.
- 13:53Speaker 6: But we're older and.
- 13:54Speaker 3: We're we're we're pretty big, i'd say across the border
- 13:59Speaker 3: are all this guy is for Fred or Sam Hoiberg
- 14:02Speaker 3: six foot and then the next shortest is six three,
- 14:06Speaker 3: So like all of our guards are actually decently sized
- 14:08Speaker 3: guards a lot in the Big ten. Yeah, I just
- 14:16Speaker 3: I also think that our transfers addressed some of the
- 14:19Speaker 3: issues last year. Week One of our issues last years
- 14:22Speaker 3: we were very thin at point guard, like a true
- 14:24Speaker 3: point guard.
- 14:25Speaker 6: Casey was not a true point guard.
- 14:26Speaker 3: He was a little bit of a ball stopper, and
- 14:29Speaker 3: we kind of talked about that. And then Aaron Eullis
- 14:32Speaker 3: never even got on the court because of you know,
- 14:35Speaker 3: his gambling issues. But I think the transfers that came
- 14:39Speaker 3: in are more of those traditional point guards that I
- 14:43Speaker 3: think Fred Hoiberg has been looking for in his system.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Is like, hey, I need a guy who can move
- 14:46Speaker 3: the ball, who's also big enough to stop people on defense,
- 14:50Speaker 3: and hopefully some of them.
- 14:51Speaker 6: Can hit threes.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the goal with this team, is that at
- 14:55Speaker 1: your piece and things together, things do come together with
- 14:58Speaker 1: what we're trying to do. It's gonna take some time,
- 15:02Speaker 1: I think, to figure out, right, but I think our
- 15:04Speaker 1: schedule sets up well for us. As we look at
- 15:08Speaker 1: our non conference let's dive a little bit deeper into
- 15:14Speaker 1: our lineup and some specific players. So a lot of transfers,
- 15:20Speaker 1: like we said, let's start point guard. Austin, you brought
- 15:22Speaker 1: that up. We didn't have a true point guard last year,
- 15:25Speaker 1: and we went out and found one, and then maybe
- 15:29Speaker 1: you mentioned Uless. I don't know which one is gonna start.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I think both of them are probably not gonna be
- 15:35Speaker 1: on the court at the same time because because from
- 15:36Speaker 1: what I've been reading, their very similar type of players.
- 15:42Speaker 1: And Ulis or Aaron Yulis six ft three guard. He'll
- 15:48Speaker 1: be wearing the number two jersey this year. Came from
- 15:50Speaker 1: Iowa a couple of years ago, sat out last year
- 15:53Speaker 1: because of the gambling issues. He shooter. And then Raley Worster,
- 15:59Speaker 1: the Utah transfer six but five point guard. He's gonna
- 16:02Speaker 1: be wearing number twenty four, both seniors listed seniors and
- 16:05Speaker 1: the roster. He only shoots a three percent clip. I
- 16:09Speaker 1: like to say in college, man, especially if you're a
- 16:13Speaker 1: good three point shooter, you're shooting right around that forty
- 16:15Speaker 1: percent mark. You know, thirty five is okay, forty percent
- 16:19Speaker 1: you're a good shooter. Uh, last year, these guys are
- 16:24Speaker 1: not there. I will say that I don't necessarily think
- 16:31Speaker 1: they need to be there for what their role is
- 16:33Speaker 1: going to be. So these guys are what I call
- 16:37Speaker 1: floor generals on on the court that they're going to
- 16:40Speaker 1: do the distributing, getting us into our offense where we
- 16:42Speaker 1: need to go. They're gonna be the smart players, They're
- 16:44Speaker 1: gonna be able to defend the ball well. They're also
- 16:46Speaker 1: decently sized for guards. These are the two guys I
- 16:50Speaker 1: think are going to play interchangeably for each other, and
- 16:53Speaker 1: one of them are going to be on the court
- 16:54Speaker 1: for most of the time.
- 16:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I agree, and I think the size helped.
- 17:01Speaker 3: You know, if he can't hit a three pointer or
- 17:03Speaker 3: at least be able to defend the other team several
- 17:06Speaker 3: positions and maybe hold them off on the three point side.
- 17:08Speaker 3: So I think Whiteberg doesn't want his point guard shooting
- 17:13Speaker 3: three pointers. He wants he wants to point guard distributing
- 17:15Speaker 3: the ball to the three point shooters, which is why
- 17:17Speaker 3: he kind of likes those bigger guys who can hit threes.
- 17:20Speaker 3: It kind of spreads open the floor and allows your
- 17:22Speaker 3: point guard who can attack, rebound, defend, and diciousists. I
- 17:27Speaker 3: think that's what his system wants to be. That's how
- 17:30Speaker 3: kind of was at Iowa State. Not that I remembers
- 17:33Speaker 3: point guards being that good at three point shooters, and
- 17:35Speaker 3: I don't think he really wants them looking for the shot,
- 17:38Speaker 3: so I don't think it matters as much.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Yeah, the size can help out a lot, because last year,
- 17:43Speaker 2: as good as case, it was him on defense, like
- 17:47Speaker 2: he he like it was kind of like playing five
- 17:50Speaker 2: on four sometimes because he's just so small, and.
- 17:54Speaker 4: So you have the size of that lot. And I'm
- 17:57Speaker 4: sure they'll knock down some shots every now and then.
- 17:59Speaker 2: But yeah, he said, they'll probably just be like your
- 18:01Speaker 2: floor general assist creating place people.
- 18:05Speaker 1: And Worster did hit a three today. I forgot to
- 18:08Speaker 1: mention there was a Red White scrimmage at the Devanny Center,
- 18:12Speaker 1: and I think the Red team won seazy six fifty.
- 18:15Speaker 1: I don't know if they played a complete full game.
- 18:17Speaker 1: It looks like maybe it was around thirty minutes. We
- 18:19Speaker 1: shot a lot of threes. Of how the White team
- 18:22Speaker 1: shot thirty threes and shot twenty seven percent. The Red
- 18:25Speaker 1: team shot twenty four threes twenty nine percent. I think
- 18:30Speaker 1: that's what you do though, in those kind of games,
- 18:32Speaker 1: like you want these guys to shoot shots, and you
- 18:36Speaker 1: saw the attempts came and who they came from, which
- 18:39Speaker 1: tells you who the shooters are and I don't think
- 18:41Speaker 1: anybody shot it incredibly well because I had the guy
- 18:43Speaker 1: we're going to talk about here in a second. But
- 18:46Speaker 1: a lot of shots went up and Worser did hit
- 18:48Speaker 1: his one that he that he put up, which I
- 18:50Speaker 1: think is a good sign.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean those are just reps. You're trying to
- 18:55Speaker 3: get game speed reps. So I mean, I'm not super
- 18:59Speaker 3: worried about it. You know, you have a little bit
- 19:01Speaker 3: of those splashbacks to the tournament game last year where
- 19:04Speaker 3: the three pointer left us in Texas A and M
- 19:06Speaker 3: somehow every three that they could find.
- 19:10Speaker 6: So hopefully it doesn't end that way again. But I said,
- 19:14Speaker 6: I'm hoping, I'm hoping.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I'm personally my preferred style is I want bigger, better
- 19:20Speaker 3: defenders more so the better three point shooters.
- 19:22Speaker 6: But from my point guard.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I think this team Austin, like you mentioned, is across
- 19:34Speaker 1: the board big again, which is what we were last year,
- 19:37Speaker 1: which was a big thing of saying we are physically
- 19:39Speaker 1: going to compete with these big ten teams. So I
- 19:43Speaker 1: think we found that in a couple of point guards here. Again,
- 19:46Speaker 1: not sure how many points we're going to get out
- 19:47Speaker 1: of them. They're definitely not going to be our start
- 19:50Speaker 1: elite players on this team, but they're gonna do their
- 19:55Speaker 1: job well. Okay, moving on to guard. If you guys
- 19:58Speaker 1: have mentioned here Sam Hoiberg his back. I don't think
- 20:02Speaker 1: he's probably gonna start this year. No, I think it's okay.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Like he's the guy off.
- 20:06Speaker 6: The bench that you want to come in and just
- 20:10Speaker 6: clan down, get a couple of threes.
- 20:13Speaker 1: He's got his role, get the crowd going. Connor Seagan
- 20:18Speaker 1: six ' four guard from Wisconsin. This is the guy
- 20:22Speaker 1: that I don't think we need to fill case Day's role.
- 20:26Speaker 1: But he can shoot the ball. And two years ago
- 20:29Speaker 1: when at Wisconsin he was on the All Freshman Big
- 20:31Speaker 1: Ten team average twelve points per game, average about two
- 20:34Speaker 1: threes a game in the scrimmage. This week he was
- 20:39Speaker 1: Today he was six for twelve uh and had twenty
- 20:43Speaker 1: points basically off of three point shots. He's gonna be
- 20:47Speaker 1: the guy that teams are going to need to know
- 20:49Speaker 1: where he's at at all times, and I think that's
- 20:51Speaker 1: going to keep him on the court for as much
- 20:56Speaker 1: as we can. I don't know exactly how he defends
- 21:01Speaker 1: yet without seeing him play. I mean case with a
- 21:04Speaker 1: liability at times on defense, if he can hold that
- 21:07Speaker 1: into the bargain, he's not gonna be able to come
- 21:09Speaker 1: off the court very much because he is gonna be
- 21:11Speaker 1: the one guy that replaces some of these shooters out there,
- 21:14Speaker 1: and then the other one I'm gonna throw here too
- 21:17Speaker 1: that I think we're gonna throw him here. I don't know,
- 21:20Speaker 1: maybe you could call him forward, but the sophomore from Rutgers,
- 21:24Speaker 1: Gavin Griffiths, I know he's gonna be Dak's favorite player. Yeah,
- 21:30Speaker 1: he's gonna shoot it too. He got his fair share
- 21:32Speaker 1: up as well in the scrimmage.
- 21:36Speaker 3: These guys gon ten with the white guys, white guy minutes.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I'm sure we will.
- 21:44Speaker 6: We're gonna be close.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Like, I don't know how much I think Gavin is
- 21:48Speaker 1: gonna play right, he's one of these ten. I don't
- 21:50Speaker 1: think Gavin's gonna start. He's is only a sophomore. These
- 21:54Speaker 1: other guys, I mean, I see as a junior. Sam's
- 21:57Speaker 1: a junior, talk about that experience, and so he is.
- 22:02Speaker 1: But I think we're I think we're good. He's gonna
- 22:04Speaker 1: find his way on the court, don't get me wrong.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I just think a Seagan's gonna be the guard that's
- 22:07Speaker 1: gonna play a lot. It's gonna be hard to take
- 22:09Speaker 1: him off the court. Based on what he's shown he's
- 22:12Speaker 1: able to do and his ability to shoot the ball.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I believe he's probably our best shooter from what we
- 22:18Speaker 1: know right now.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree, I think Sigan's the better option. You're
- 22:25Speaker 3: just a little bit worried because he did get played
- 22:27Speaker 3: off of Wisconsin. Basically someone came in and was better
- 22:29Speaker 3: than him and he just didn't see the court at all,
- 22:34Speaker 3: which makes you wonder a little bit because he was
- 22:36Speaker 3: really good as a freshman and just to completely abandon him.
- 22:39Speaker 3: But I agree, I think he's gonna be our best shooter.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Gavin Griffin is not starting. He'll get some reps in.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I don't think he had moments at Rutgers last year,
- 22:48Speaker 3: but there wasn't anything that he did that as like,
- 22:49Speaker 3: oh Wow, this guy is gonna come in and change
- 22:51Speaker 3: the team.
- 22:52Speaker 6: I think it's just good depth at the guard position.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Gavin Griffith I think will be like a He'll
- 23:01Speaker 2: play if he's sitting shots. If he comes in miss too,
- 23:03Speaker 2: then Brown won't play last the night.
- 23:04Speaker 4: But yeah, I.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Wasn't huge on him at Rutgers. Every time watched him
- 23:10Speaker 2: he's not not an all time basketball player. Would say
- 23:14Speaker 2: that when I saw Wreckers, I don't. I don't remember
- 23:17Speaker 2: that Wisconsin guy at all his freshman year. So he
- 23:19Speaker 2: say he didn't play much last year.
- 23:23Speaker 6: Seven mins a game last year.
- 23:26Speaker 2: But yeah, if he's if he's that good of a shooter,
- 23:27Speaker 2: you're gonna have to keep him on for it, like
- 23:29Speaker 2: you said, because you don't have much shooting around on
- 23:31Speaker 2: this team outside of that.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Moving on here to the forwards. Guys that we are
- 23:38Speaker 1: a little more familiar with. Here, Bryce Williams, sixty seven
- 23:43Speaker 1: senior this year. Uh, he shot at thirty eight point
- 23:46Speaker 1: eight percent last year from three, which was better than
- 23:49Speaker 1: I would have guessed. Oh yeah, Bryce, guys, he's he
- 23:54Speaker 1: is going to be that one that has to step
- 23:56Speaker 1: up and lead on in his play Ida. I don't disagree,
- 24:03Speaker 1: but I just I don't see Juwan Gary being the
- 24:07Speaker 1: this is my team. I'm gonna be the guy Bryce Williams.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I can see that being the case. Now, Gary's gonna
- 24:14Speaker 1: have his moments. Gary is gonna be the dog defenders. Still,
- 24:19Speaker 1: we're not losing that out of him, and he's gonna
- 24:21Speaker 1: chip in. He might have a couple of twenty point
- 24:23Speaker 1: games here and there. I just feel like Bryce is
- 24:26Speaker 1: the guy that when we need a bucket, we're gonna
- 24:28Speaker 1: go to Bryce Gary. He's a six year senior. Him
- 24:34Speaker 1: staying around is huge for this program. In his sixth year.
- 24:40Speaker 1: That speaks to what he believes this team could do.
- 24:42Speaker 1: It speaks to what he believes in the coaching staff
- 24:45Speaker 1: and the guys they brought in. Those two I think
- 24:49Speaker 1: are both almost locked in starters for most of the
- 24:52Speaker 1: year barring injury. They're gonna get a lot of minutes.
- 24:56Speaker 1: They're the two experienced guys in this team that are
- 24:59Speaker 1: that piece of continuity from the successful team that we
- 25:02Speaker 1: had last year. The third forward that I would throw
- 25:06Speaker 1: in here too is the transfer from UCLA. I mean
- 25:09Speaker 1: we're number nine, is only a sophomore as well. Again,
- 25:12Speaker 1: like Gavin Griffiths, I don't think he's starting, but I
- 25:15Speaker 1: think he's going to bring some pieces to this team.
- 25:19Speaker 1: He did have thirteen points and thirteen rebounds in the
- 25:21Speaker 1: scrimmage as well. He's from Turkey, Austin has practiced is pronunciation.
- 25:27Speaker 1: So I will let you.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Go with it.
- 25:29Speaker 6: Bu Ca and jail Brat bear can buke and jail.
- 25:35Speaker 1: They go.
- 25:36Speaker 4: Here's that I won't even try that name Bear.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Ken Buke and Jael Dak. You know you mentioned Gary, right.
- 25:47Speaker 1: What is the importance that I guess these guys bring.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I'm talking about Williams and Gary this year, coming off
- 25:54Speaker 1: of last year's run that we had most experienced, Like
- 26:00Speaker 1: I mean, your team's like s not young all around him,
- 26:03Speaker 1: but experience.
- 26:03Speaker 4: They know what the program wants to do. And I
- 26:07Speaker 4: think especially Gary, but Williams too.
- 26:10Speaker 2: I think that they they're both strong as hell and
- 26:13Speaker 2: they're they'll rebound the ball like like we saw in
- 26:17Speaker 2: the Case Dick game. Gary just took over dominated rebounding, defense, everything.
- 26:21Speaker 4: I think it's about this Bryce Williams.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Last year, I felt like that he would disappear in
- 26:27Speaker 2: spots during games, like he would come out of ten
- 26:30Speaker 2: points and then do nothing in the rest of the games,
- 26:31Speaker 2: so that he needs to take over the whole game more.
- 26:34Speaker 4: This year, I think.
- 26:37Speaker 6: I agree.
- 26:37Speaker 3: I think Bryce Williams is gonna be the guy. Like
- 26:40Speaker 3: last year it's like, all right, we need offense, We're
- 26:42Speaker 3: gonna look to Kaisse. I think this year it's gonna
- 26:44Speaker 3: be Bryce Williams. I don't know if it's gonna be
- 26:45Speaker 3: as flexible as it was last year, where it's like, Okay,
- 26:49Speaker 3: we got a couple of guys, you know, maybe Ranks.
- 26:51Speaker 6: Going a little bit, We're get Williams going a little bit.
- 26:54Speaker 3: I really do think if there's I think the team's
- 26:57Speaker 3: gonna be a little more Bryce will this year.
- 27:01Speaker 1: We talked about that last year, the pros and cons
- 27:04Speaker 1: of that, and you mentioned we went to Kaise. I
- 27:08Speaker 1: don't know that we did. We did late in the
- 27:10Speaker 1: year for sure. You remember there were times that he
- 27:13Speaker 1: didn't even play much. Middle middle of the year, Rank
- 27:16Speaker 1: Mass had his moments, Bryce at his moments, then all
- 27:19Speaker 1: of a sudden Gary it was Gary's team for like
- 27:21Speaker 1: two or three games. Then CJ. Wilcher comes in. So
- 27:24Speaker 1: it wasn't a bad thing. But we talked about how
- 27:28Speaker 1: because of the way that played out, we didn't know
- 27:30Speaker 1: whose team it was when we needed a bucket with
- 27:33Speaker 1: three minutes to go, who are we going to And
- 27:35Speaker 1: the end of the year we knew, but part there
- 27:38Speaker 1: was no point guard either and no point guards, so
- 27:41Speaker 1: it made it hard. I think this year it's pretty
- 27:44Speaker 1: clear who whose hands the ball is going to be
- 27:48Speaker 1: and when we need to get a basket. As of
- 27:49Speaker 1: right now. The other guys are going to bring what
- 27:52Speaker 1: they can. But when we need to design a play up, Bryce,
- 27:57Speaker 1: go make a play, whether that be score, find the
- 27:59Speaker 1: open guy, the ball is gonna be in his hands.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I think that's a positive. And I think Bryce knows that. Now.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Can he live up to that? If he knows that,
- 28:08Speaker 1: is that gonna be too much pressure put on him?
- 28:10Speaker 1: Is he elite enough? Is he a good enough player
- 28:13Speaker 1: to take on that role? That's yet to be seen.
- 28:16Speaker 1: But I think that's gonna be the census. I think
- 28:18Speaker 1: that's you think.
- 28:20Speaker 6: I agree, And I think we've seen moments where like
- 28:22Speaker 6: I can see this working.
- 28:25Speaker 1: It was almost like he was scared to come out
- 28:27Speaker 1: of his shell because we had some of these other
- 28:29Speaker 1: pieces and it just didn't know how it would all mesh.
- 28:32Speaker 1: And so Bryce just kind of took the I'm here
- 28:35Speaker 1: like I'll do my thing when I can and oh wow,
- 28:37Speaker 1: that was really good. I think that's gonna be better
- 28:40Speaker 1: than people think. And he guess what, he led the
- 28:43Speaker 1: Red team in scoring and look at the shot attemps
- 28:46Speaker 1: like it was his team in the scrimmage today, and
- 28:50Speaker 1: I think that's foreshadowing of what we could see this season,
- 28:56Speaker 1: which I feel good about this.
- 29:00Speaker 4: What're you say it is probably the strongest position group
- 29:02Speaker 4: on the team.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I mean I think there's there's there's depth here.
- 29:08Speaker 1: You know, you mentioned that the Turkish guy, like he
- 29:12Speaker 1: went thirteen and thirteen points and rebounds today and there's
- 29:17Speaker 1: night six ' ten for that, Like that's gonna get
- 29:22Speaker 1: them minutes too. You do things like that. So I
- 29:25Speaker 1: think it's a very strong group that has some depth here,
- 29:28Speaker 1: and it's where a team's going to be centered around
- 29:31Speaker 1: for the most part, just from a culture and core
- 29:35Speaker 1: center position. Last couple of guys to mention here, Braxton
- 29:38Speaker 1: Mia from Washington just listened to seven foot one, played
- 29:44Speaker 1: decent minutes last year starter there, he averaged five point
- 29:48Speaker 1: three points and five point three rebounds a game. His
- 29:51Speaker 1: biggest impact is going to come on the defensive end,
- 29:53Speaker 1: where he averaged a block of game last year at Washington.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Little slimmer bill, I will say he doesn't have the
- 30:02Speaker 1: shoulders that rank had and maybe what you want typically
- 30:05Speaker 1: out of a seven foot one center, but he's gonna
- 30:10Speaker 1: be a intimidating person in there defensively for sure. I
- 30:15Speaker 1: don't know he's gonna be a guy that we can
- 30:16Speaker 1: throw him the ball on the block and get a
- 30:18Speaker 1: bucket with that's the question. I don't think they I agree.
- 30:21Speaker 6: I think it's we're gonna miss from Rank.
- 30:23Speaker 3: I mean Rank, could he could work the block a
- 30:25Speaker 3: little bit against the bigger, big ten guys this, I
- 30:29Speaker 3: don't think he's gonna be able to do that.
- 30:31Speaker 6: And then he also can't stretch the floor. He's not
- 30:33Speaker 6: a shooter.
- 30:34Speaker 1: So now maybe the other guy, Andrew Morgan from North
- 30:40Speaker 1: Dakota State, could be that one that can get us
- 30:42Speaker 1: a bucket on the block. He averaged thirteen points per
- 30:44Speaker 1: game last year at the Bison, also had five rebounds
- 30:48Speaker 1: per game. Those two guys, and one of them is
- 30:50Speaker 1: gonna start. They might be interchangeable as well. I don't
- 30:53Speaker 1: think you're gonna see him both from the court at
- 30:55Speaker 1: the same time unless we get like really big, which
- 30:58Speaker 1: I thought about this lineup that could be kind of fun.
- 31:01Speaker 1: You throw both of those guys out Gary, Bryce Williams,
- 31:04Speaker 1: and I mean even Worsters decent, but even a second,
- 31:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna keep calling the Turkey guy like that. That's
- 31:14Speaker 1: a lineup that I mean, Bryce could handle the ball right.
- 31:17Speaker 1: We could tically be six seven, six, eight, six, ten,
- 31:21Speaker 1: seven to one. I think about that one.
- 31:25Speaker 4: Point. Bright didn't Bryce run some point last year?
- 31:29Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 31:29Speaker 4: He did, Jesus that that would be a huge lineup.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:35Speaker 3: Andrew Morgan his freshman year at North scost State shot
- 31:38Speaker 3: forty three for three pointer on uh three and a
- 31:43Speaker 3: half attempts per game, no one attempt per game.
- 31:48Speaker 4: So I mean, like, yeah, blame gard.
- 31:55Speaker 1: What'd you call him?
- 31:56Speaker 4: Flamethroart?
- 31:59Speaker 1: That was Josiah Allen nickname?
- 32:01Speaker 4: Is it? Actually?
- 32:02Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 32:03Speaker 4: I did not know that.
- 32:04Speaker 6: Just another good white guy to put an a starting lineup.
- 32:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:08Speaker 1: So those are the ten guys I think. I mean,
- 32:10Speaker 1: is there anybody else that you think could find their
- 32:13Speaker 1: way on the court. I mean, we have a couple
- 32:15Speaker 1: of other walk ons that are still on the roster
- 32:17Speaker 1: that are key players. Not brushing him over because they're
- 32:20Speaker 1: not good. I think those guys are the core of
- 32:22Speaker 1: your scout team and do a lot of the dirty
- 32:25Speaker 1: work and are very important. But I think it's gonna
- 32:29Speaker 1: be these ten that we see a lot out there
- 32:32Speaker 1: this year. And like we've said all along, that has
- 32:38Speaker 1: some height and some depth and some experience like that
- 32:41Speaker 1: seems to be the theme of last year in this
- 32:43Speaker 1: year's team, and I like the direction that Heiberg is
- 32:46Speaker 1: taking with that, even though we're still going portal searching.
- 32:50Speaker 1: I just think that's kind of Heiberg's identity. It always
- 32:54Speaker 1: has been. I questioned it, and I'm not still completely
- 32:58Speaker 1: sold on it, because I do believe in development and
- 33:00Speaker 1: all of that. But to keep guys here like a Gary,
- 33:05Speaker 1: like a Bryce hell Rank Mast when he's not even
- 33:10Speaker 1: gonna play and we'll come back like that, that says
- 33:13Speaker 1: something to what these guys think in the program. Schedule wise,
- 33:21Speaker 1: we have thirty one games this year, eleven of them
- 33:24Speaker 1: non conference. We mentioned the potential eve of our non
- 33:28Speaker 1: conference schedule a couple of games the note we go
- 33:32Speaker 1: in the non conference. We play against Saint Mary's at
- 33:36Speaker 1: two Falls in the Dome, which is where we played
- 33:38Speaker 1: I believe it was Oregon State last year and won.
- 33:42Speaker 1: And then the other non conference game at Creighton on
- 33:45Speaker 1: November twenty second, we are in the Diamond Head Classic.
- 33:48Speaker 1: It's not the big one in Hawaii, but we have
- 33:52Speaker 1: looks like some potential, potential, winning, winnable games in Hawaii.
- 33:59Speaker 1: But this no non conference schedule, I think it's built
- 34:02Speaker 1: around us padding our record, and I think that's pretty smart.
- 34:08Speaker 1: I think we are figuring out that if you have
- 34:11Speaker 1: a good non conference record and then in the Big Ten,
- 34:15Speaker 1: get in the top nine, fit go.
- 34:19Speaker 6: Five hundred ten, there's a good chance you can make the.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Tourney you're probably in. In the years past, where we
- 34:24Speaker 1: have gone five hundred in the Big Ten but maybe
- 34:26Speaker 1: went six and four in the non conference with a
- 34:28Speaker 1: tougher schedule has not been rewarded. So I think that's
- 34:34Speaker 1: honestly good. And you get to figure your stuff out
- 34:36Speaker 1: in the season against these teams a couple of tests,
- 34:39Speaker 1: but you get to figure out what lineups are working
- 34:42Speaker 1: with a lot of these new pieces. I like the
- 34:44Speaker 1: adjustment to the schedule. I don't think it's going to
- 34:47Speaker 1: hurt us that much when you look at the resumes
- 34:51Speaker 1: come February, because you're still going to have so many
- 34:56Speaker 1: quality opponents in the Big ten and if, yeah, if
- 34:58Speaker 1: you're in the bottom half of the Big Ten, you're
- 35:00Speaker 1: probably not getting it anyway. So I think it's smart
- 35:03Speaker 1: the way we did our schedule this year. We do
- 35:06Speaker 1: go on the road at Washington and Oregon back to back.
- 35:10Speaker 6: I have no idea how those teams are no.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Idea, no clue.
- 35:16Speaker 4: Usually they're organs.
- 35:18Speaker 6: Organs usually okay.
- 35:19Speaker 4: Yeah, washing is usually not okay.
- 35:25Speaker 6: This honestly the schedule, I agree with the non con
- 35:29Speaker 6: I mean, outside of what happens in Hawaii, creating is
- 35:33Speaker 6: the hardest one, and it's a way, you know, in Omaha.
- 35:39Speaker 3: On road trip, long road trip, Like, realistically we should
- 35:44Speaker 3: win them all.
- 35:45Speaker 6: Outside of maybe creating in the Hawaii games, I don't
- 35:47Speaker 6: really know who we end.
- 35:48Speaker 3: Up playing there, but yeah, and then you start looking
- 35:53Speaker 3: at the Big Ten schedule, and admittedly this year our
- 35:58Speaker 3: harder games are probably away. Michigan State's away, Penn States,
- 36:02Speaker 3: I don't know, they're revery be good, Produce away, Wisconsin's away.
- 36:07Speaker 3: But the only teams we played twice are Iowa, Maryland
- 36:09Speaker 3: and Ohio State. They haven't been that good. We get
- 36:12Speaker 3: Michigan at home. We'll see if Michigan's good this year,
- 36:14Speaker 3: Ucla at home, USC at home.
- 36:17Speaker 6: So I don't want to.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Say it's an easier schedule because we had we snuck
- 36:23Speaker 3: some wins out last year that we probably shouldn't have been. Like,
- 36:28Speaker 3: you know, produce probably not going to go our way.
- 36:32Speaker 3: But I feel all right with this schedule as a
- 36:35Speaker 3: bounce back. You're trying to make a tournament two years
- 36:37Speaker 3: in a row.
- 36:37Speaker 6: I really do. I can see twenty wins here.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's a very easy non gone. Yeah, you
- 36:46Speaker 2: for sure want to. You can't afford to fall like
- 36:51Speaker 2: one of those easy games early on.
- 36:53Speaker 4: You can't afford to trip up to come.
- 36:55Speaker 6: Out of non conference with ten wins a Minimumy.
- 36:58Speaker 2: You don't want to lose one two. You could lose
- 37:01Speaker 2: to Saint Mary's and we're creating, but you don't want
- 37:03Speaker 2: to lose the same game outside those two because then
- 37:05Speaker 2: just screws you on conference play.
- 37:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree.
- 37:07Speaker 2: If you go, let's let's say they do lose both
- 37:10Speaker 2: those eight and two, you go five hundred rest the season. Yeah,
- 37:14Speaker 2: you're private tournament. It's pretty easy.
- 37:17Speaker 4: You got to see.
- 37:20Speaker 1: We're all talking around that spot there. I agree we
- 37:24Speaker 1: shouldn't lose. I'm not sure it's on the other side
- 37:28Speaker 1: of that hilton Head Classic, But wouldn't it be fun
- 37:32Speaker 1: to win one of those tournaments? I get, I don't know,
- 37:34Speaker 1: I don't know who's all in it, but our side
- 37:38Speaker 1: check it out. It's easy, and then I agree, like
- 37:43Speaker 1: nine and two is realistic to think I think ten's
- 37:47Speaker 1: better than what I would think. I think nine and
- 37:50Speaker 1: two is probably the realistic dot. And then yeah, like
- 37:53Speaker 1: get the five hundred conference play, get a little better
- 37:55Speaker 1: than five hundred given our maybe schedule, like Austin, you
- 37:59Speaker 1: mentioned the teams we play twice, they've been bottom half
- 38:02Speaker 1: of the Big ten teams the past few years. So
- 38:04Speaker 1: that gives you the chance that if things go well, yeah,
- 38:07Speaker 1: you're sitting right there at twenty and eleven or twenty
- 38:10Speaker 1: one and ten, Like, I think that puts you very,
- 38:13Speaker 1: very arguably in the tournament. The hard part is going
- 38:20Speaker 1: to be that Big ten schedule with all these new
- 38:21Speaker 1: teams and just the unknown of what they are. I
- 38:25Speaker 1: think non conference we're not I think the floor is
- 38:29Speaker 1: going to be eight and three, Like, I don't think
- 38:30Speaker 1: it's going to be worse than that. Now might be
- 38:33Speaker 1: wrong come December, but I think there's potential there to
- 38:38Speaker 1: get back to the tournament. The way the schedule is
- 38:40Speaker 1: set up, with all things that we've talked about with
- 38:42Speaker 1: our roster.
- 38:44Speaker 4: It's actually pretty fun tournament.
- 38:47Speaker 2: So it's Charlotte called you, Charleston, Hawaii, Loyal, Chicago, Murray State, Nebraska, Oakland,
- 38:52Speaker 2: and Oregon State okay, I.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Mean, so Oregon State loyal in Chicago like a couple
- 38:58Speaker 1: of teams. I think maybe on the other side that
- 39:00Speaker 1: we could see I mean our our side we open
- 39:03Speaker 1: with oh, I just had it open, right, So I
- 39:08Speaker 1: mean that that'll be a tough game, that'll be a
- 39:10Speaker 1: good game. Murray State's not a historically has been a
- 39:13Speaker 1: decent group of five teams. Charlotte Hawaii will play the
- 39:17Speaker 1: winner of that or loser of that, and then you know,
- 39:20Speaker 1: the third game on Christmas Day actually is from that
- 39:24Speaker 1: third game is so yeah, I like the schedule set up.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I like where we're sitting. Any other schedule.
- 39:32Speaker 3: Talk, I don't think so. I really don't know how
- 39:36Speaker 3: good the Big ten is going to be. I don't
- 39:37Speaker 3: know who's going to be good in the Big Ten.
- 39:39Speaker 3: I don't know about the PAC twelve teams.
- 39:40Speaker 4: I am like no clue.
- 39:44Speaker 6: I honest, I said, if I know cre New is
- 39:46Speaker 6: going to be good, that's it.
- 39:47Speaker 3: I got a hunch Illinois going to be good, and
- 39:49Speaker 3: I have a hunch Michigan State's gonna be competitive.
- 39:52Speaker 2: I thought ranking somewhere and I cannot remember, it's either
- 39:55Speaker 2: Rutgers or Penn State.
- 39:57Speaker 4: We're spilled be really good.
- 39:59Speaker 6: See ca out preseason ranked twelve.
- 40:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I saw that, which that's a little.
- 40:04Speaker 6: Low, I think out of eighteen.
- 40:06Speaker 4: So nine great, it's not great.
- 40:10Speaker 3: It's gonna be like football where it's just gonna be
- 40:11Speaker 3: a gaggle of teams middle of the pack that are
- 40:14Speaker 3: just floating around the five hundred conference play that whoever
- 40:18Speaker 3: shakes out.
- 40:19Speaker 1: I mean, look, look at the last year was in
- 40:21Speaker 1: the Big Ten. It was just like that.
- 40:25Speaker 3: So yeah, you're right, Illinois was fourteen and six and
- 40:28Speaker 3: then we had one, two, three or more five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
- 40:34Speaker 3: We were all within There were like nine and eleven
- 40:38Speaker 3: in conference play or twelve and eight conference play.
- 40:40Speaker 1: The good what a swing last Nebraska basketball thought, I'm
- 40:48Speaker 1: calling it a key. We talked a lot about the
- 40:51Speaker 1: star power. I thinking Bryce Williams could step into that role.
- 40:55Speaker 1: The one thing that I don't think we'll get talked
- 40:57Speaker 1: about enough, but I think is very important is our
- 41:01Speaker 1: rebounding because of our height, because of our physicality. I
- 41:05Speaker 1: think losing rank does hurt in that category. But and
- 41:10Speaker 1: Josiah Alec was good there. Guys, Let's not just be
- 41:15Speaker 1: good at it. Let's make it like a thing. That
- 41:17Speaker 1: we're talking about extensively US and nationally Big Ten teams
- 41:21Speaker 1: are saying Nebraska is one of the best rebounding teams
- 41:24Speaker 1: in the Big Ten, and offensive rebounding is a big
- 41:28Speaker 1: thing that Juan Gary himself is very good at, but
- 41:31Speaker 1: I think other guys could be two in getting second
- 41:34Speaker 1: chance points, extra possessions. That is huge in the game
- 41:39Speaker 1: of basketball, especially in Big Ten basketball. Let's like, that's
- 41:44Speaker 1: what I want to see is emphasize is not let's
- 41:47Speaker 1: not just be good because we've had some bad rebounding
- 41:50Speaker 1: years where it's like, okay, can we just be decent
- 41:52Speaker 1: at rebounding? Now we were past that point. Let's make
- 41:55Speaker 1: it our our core focus are emphasis to everybody when
- 42:01Speaker 1: they play Nebraska, they go, oh my god, they rebound
- 42:03Speaker 1: the ball like crazy. We can't get any second chance
- 42:06Speaker 1: points on them. Like, I want that to be the
- 42:08Speaker 1: theme because I think it's there with the size and
- 42:12Speaker 1: the athleticism that we have.
- 42:15Speaker 4: On this group.
- 42:17Speaker 6: Yeah, that'd be great record prediction.
- 42:23Speaker 1: I mean I don't have a specific one. I mean
- 42:25Speaker 1: I just I think right around that twenty game mark
- 42:29Speaker 1: is a good target. I think's where we're going to be.
- 42:31Speaker 1: I mean, nine is twenty and ten, twenty and eleven
- 42:34Speaker 1: ish like, I think that's a good target. I think it.
- 42:37Speaker 1: A poor year looks like you know, sixteen and fifteen
- 42:41Speaker 1: and and that that's probably puts you about thirteenth or
- 42:44Speaker 1: fourteenth in the Big Ten. And a good year you're
- 42:47Speaker 1: winning twenty three, you're twenty three and eight, twenty two
- 42:49Speaker 1: and nine. With these thirty one games.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Yep, and they'll put they'll put there and tournament for that.
- 42:57Speaker 2: You just got to take care of business in this
- 42:59Speaker 2: non time.
- 43:01Speaker 6: Last basketball thought.
- 43:02Speaker 3: You guys watch Sam Griesol's film debut on Netflix. No,
- 43:09Speaker 3: I didn't either. I'm going to though. Oh yeah, he
- 43:14Speaker 3: plays the bad guy. Is the they I don't know
- 43:19Speaker 3: the opponent.
- 43:20Speaker 6: It's weird to say enemy for basketball game.
- 43:23Speaker 1: But okay, dak ay ou basketball, you probably have no clue.
- 43:32Speaker 6: Nope, you doesn't even talk about you.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Who's their coach?
- 43:37Speaker 4: Order Moser?
- 43:38Speaker 1: Thank goodness, you knew that.
- 43:40Speaker 4: And he's gonna be done. He's on a short leave.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Uh okay, college football talk. And by the way, we
- 43:50Speaker 1: do have more than forty five minutes now per episode.
- 43:53Speaker 1: We still gonna try to keep it around there, but
- 43:56Speaker 1: we're gonna try to keep it there. We're gonna go
- 43:57Speaker 1: a little long day with a couple of different topics.
- 43:59Speaker 1: But we did get cut short, had to chop our
- 44:03Speaker 1: thoughts off, so we don't have to do that anymore,
- 44:07Speaker 1: but we have. We'll try not to go longer than
- 44:09Speaker 1: an hour most episodes before we get to Indiana. It's
- 44:14Speaker 1: gonna be a huge game. It is Sunday. We play
- 44:18Speaker 1: them next Saturday, Big noon kickoff, eleven am. I want
- 44:24Speaker 1: to talk a little more college football landscape and where
- 44:27Speaker 1: things are at, because yesterday on Saturday was one of
- 44:30Speaker 1: the best slaves we've had this year, and a lot
- 44:34Speaker 1: of stuff happened the week before. Last week we had
- 44:39Speaker 1: a lot of upsets. This week we had a lot
- 44:41Speaker 1: of good games higher ranked teams at one but not impressively.
- 44:49Speaker 1: I just feel like the conversation right now is fascinating
- 44:52Speaker 1: with where all these teams stack up against each other,
- 44:55Speaker 1: Who's beating who, who's competing with who? So what we're
- 44:59Speaker 1: gonna do here, and we're not gonna go through every team,
- 45:02Speaker 1: but I want us to talk amongst each other and
- 45:05Speaker 1: try to tear some of these teams up and where
- 45:10Speaker 1: we think they are kind of now, but also their
- 45:14Speaker 1: ability to win it all, make the playoff, but also
- 45:17Speaker 1: compete for a national title. I think that's ultimately what
- 45:20Speaker 1: everyone's going for here. We're not going to talk about
- 45:23Speaker 1: these bottom big ten teams where they sit, but we're
- 45:27Speaker 1: gonna try to tear some teams up here and see
- 45:29Speaker 1: if we can collectively come to an agreement with some
- 45:32Speaker 1: of these top teams. So, Dak, you knew I was
- 45:37Speaker 1: gonna go to you for this first one because we're
- 45:39Speaker 1: starting at the top. Okay, I will say this, and
- 45:44Speaker 1: maybe you guys won't won't agree with me. Is there
- 45:49Speaker 1: an elite team in college football this year? No?
- 45:56Speaker 6: I so it's pretty freaking good.
- 45:59Speaker 1: The definite of elite. I think you gotta be careful.
- 46:02Speaker 1: I am thinking of elite as you got to be
- 46:10Speaker 1: considered for like a you know, in the past twenty years,
- 46:12Speaker 1: like one of the top twenty all time teams you're
- 46:14Speaker 1: not all sorry, but like top twenty in the past
- 46:17Speaker 1: twenty year type of teams Like I think, I don't
- 46:21Speaker 1: think there is either. And I have my Tier one
- 46:24Speaker 1: as this elite tier, and you know, I wanted to
- 46:26Speaker 1: throw somebody like Texas in there. I'm not there yet.
- 46:30Speaker 1: With maybe contenders so I do I want to leave
- 46:34Speaker 1: Tier one open, like I know, I know Tier one, like.
- 46:39Speaker 6: I agree, there.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Any team that you're like this, like if they lose,
- 46:44Speaker 3: it's a massive upset. Like no, like if they if
- 46:47Speaker 3: they don't make the championship, it's a failure.
- 46:50Speaker 6: Like there's no one. I think that's that that tier?
- 46:53Speaker 1: Yeah is Texas they are And if you throw Texas
- 46:58Speaker 1: in this whatever tier we're calling it, I don't think
- 47:03Speaker 1: they can be in a tier on their own. I
- 47:05Speaker 1: don't think they're worthy of it. I think they look
- 47:07Speaker 1: pretty good. So I'm throwing them Texas in my next
- 47:12Speaker 1: tier and I'm calling it like the great tier, Like
- 47:15Speaker 1: I think this is. These are teams that are calling contenders.
- 47:18Speaker 1: I guess you can't Austin that that's a good way
- 47:20Speaker 1: of putting it. But I think these are the great
- 47:22Speaker 1: teams this year. I don't. I don't know that necessarily
- 47:25Speaker 1: there needs to be great teams.
- 47:27Speaker 3: But.
- 47:28Speaker 1: I don't think there's any elite teams for sure. So
- 47:31Speaker 1: I mean, Texas, dak Are you gonna call Texas great
- 47:35Speaker 1: just saying Texas is great?
- 47:39Speaker 4: They're good?
- 47:43Speaker 6: Oklahoma, make me.
- 47:44Speaker 1: Post a pictures up on social media.
- 47:47Speaker 4: Don't find they're great.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Who's great?
- 47:52Speaker 4: Texas great?
- 47:53Speaker 1: Thank you the quarterbacks, the quarterbacks that that is a
- 47:58Speaker 1: good point you make too, like Quinn yours. Yeah they
- 48:01Speaker 1: beat they beat Oklahoma thirty four to three or right,
- 48:07Speaker 1: he just he looked, yeah, yeah.
- 48:10Speaker 3: They haven't really Like I will say the counter to Texas,
- 48:14Speaker 3: they haven't really played anyone.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Great great, And he wouldn't say who's great. Be careful
- 48:22Speaker 1: with that word, because we're calling this tier kind of
- 48:24Speaker 1: the great tier. They haven't yet. So okay, we're throwing
- 48:28Speaker 1: Texas in here. I think another team and I'll just
- 48:31Speaker 1: throw them in here because I think they're there. And
- 48:34Speaker 1: if I throw them in here, I gotta throwing this
- 48:36Speaker 1: other team in here. I'm throwing it. I'm gonna do
- 48:38Speaker 1: it and throw Georgia in here. I'm gonna throw Alabama
- 48:41Speaker 1: in here, mainly because of what they've shown. But I
- 48:44Speaker 1: think they're still there. If we disagree, we want to
- 48:47Speaker 1: move them to a lower tier, we can. If you
- 48:49Speaker 1: guys think Texas and Oregon, I'm not throwing Penn State
- 48:54Speaker 1: in there. If you think US with Texas.
- 48:56Speaker 6: I think it's Oregon, Ohio State, Texas.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Hey with Texas, you have them ahead of do we
- 49:03Speaker 1: want to separate that? I don't. I want to know why.
- 49:09Speaker 6: Well, I mean because the Oregon, like Ohio State, was
- 49:12Speaker 6: right there with Oregon, I mean right there, and I
- 49:16Speaker 6: think Oregon's really good.
- 49:17Speaker 3: I can't admitted that I came into the year thinking
- 49:19Speaker 3: Oregon was going to be really freaking good in the
- 49:21Speaker 3: Big Ten. So I'm a little bit biased. I do
- 49:24Speaker 3: think Alabama barely winning after getting beat by Vanderbilt last week,
- 49:30Speaker 3: even though they beat Georgia, I don't know if I
- 49:33Speaker 3: can put them in that tier.
- 49:34Speaker 6: You can't. You can't lose a game.
- 49:37Speaker 3: Against Vanderbilt like they did and then come out and
- 49:39Speaker 3: then also have a stinker against another not great team.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Okay, so I can go with that under the condition
- 49:48Speaker 1: that if Georgia beats Texas, then you got to move
- 49:52Speaker 1: them all up.
- 49:53Speaker 4: Okay, play.
- 49:55Speaker 1: And I'll say, I'll say beat or to competitive game
- 49:58Speaker 1: like Ohio State organ Us.
- 50:01Speaker 3: Okay, if it's if it's down to a last possession
- 50:06Speaker 3: game and Texas squeaks it out, but it's like Georgia
- 50:09Speaker 3: looks good, then I think all of them got to
- 50:10Speaker 3: go into one.
- 50:11Speaker 6: But unless Elevator comes out is another stinker of course.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Or lose it again.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, I'm with you, and I play I played
- 50:19Speaker 2: Baman and Georgia up there.
- 50:21Speaker 1: So Dak would do you have an argument for or
- 50:24Speaker 1: against throwing them with I think I think we can
- 50:26Speaker 1: throw Texas, Oregon, Ohio State into one. Do you have
- 50:29Speaker 1: an argument for or against throwing them with them or
- 50:31Speaker 1: into their next own tier?
- 50:34Speaker 2: I think Bam and Georgia should be in that tier.
- 50:36Speaker 2: I still think they're two of the top.
- 50:42Speaker 4: The top. Oh I don't know what.
- 50:44Speaker 1: What I'm saying. Are they in that tier? Are they
- 50:46Speaker 1: one below them?
- 50:48Speaker 2: We don't have the name of this next tier is,
- 50:50Speaker 2: but I think I think they're still in that tier.
- 50:53Speaker 2: And I guess we'll find out this week in Texas Georgia.
- 50:56Speaker 1: So we'll figure we're just gonna put them like Tier
- 50:59Speaker 1: two A or two A, like right below them. Yeah,
- 51:02Speaker 1: because I think it's close. We're gonna find out, like
- 51:06Speaker 1: that's that's gonna be the balancing factor there, and we're
- 51:10Speaker 1: gonna put them. Okay, next teams here to talk about. Okay,
- 51:14Speaker 1: maybe we'll decide what we're gonna do with them. What
- 51:16Speaker 1: are we gonna do with Miami?
- 51:18Speaker 6: I'm putting them in there.
- 51:22Speaker 1: You're throwing them in top tier.
- 51:25Speaker 6: No, no, no, no, no, this is the next tier.
- 51:28Speaker 1: I was gonna leave Bama and Georgia is like A
- 51:30Speaker 1: two A.
- 51:32Speaker 3: Like, okay, I'm not putting none in that tier. If
- 51:35Speaker 3: this is like we're talking B one is what I'm
- 51:37Speaker 3: thinking for.
- 51:39Speaker 1: You're growing up with Bama Georgia.
- 51:41Speaker 6: No, no, no, next year down.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Okay, so we're going I'm gonna call this next tier
- 51:45Speaker 1: three like Miami Penn State. I agree there. What do
- 51:55Speaker 1: you think about Alse?
- 51:56Speaker 4: Do you put either B YU or I alway stating
- 51:58Speaker 4: there yet.
- 52:00Speaker 1: L s U? I mean you talk about L s
- 52:02Speaker 1: u ole miss Iowa State, Clemsons five and one.
- 52:07Speaker 6: Honestly even Texas A and M Tennessee.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Not Dame game.
- 52:14Speaker 4: Army.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Maybe this is this is why guys, this can get
- 52:17Speaker 1: This can get fun because we can say no, Miami
- 52:20Speaker 1: Penn State owned tier. But you you you throw A
- 52:25Speaker 1: and M in Miami in a neutral field. I don't
- 52:29Speaker 1: know who you went in that.
- 52:31Speaker 4: I don't either.
- 52:31Speaker 1: I get where A and M's at. I think they're
- 52:33Speaker 1: all in one tier. And yeah, Penn State's ranked third
- 52:35Speaker 1: and they're six and oh but again A and M
- 52:38Speaker 1: Penn State neutral field wait did they play Week one good?
- 52:42Speaker 1: Penn State beat beat in.
- 52:43Speaker 4: Week one A and m played another Dame.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Oh they haven't played. They played West Virginia. So I
- 52:50Speaker 1: think we okay, let's just start going through these and
- 52:53Speaker 1: L s U in this tier? Yes, with Miami, Penn State, yep, yes, okay, gosh,
- 53:02Speaker 1: Iowa States hard, Iowa State, No, I'm not yet, not yet, Dak.
- 53:11Speaker 1: Can you just wait? We're going through the Clemson you
- 53:15Speaker 1: have them? Where with Iowa State?
- 53:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Dak, what do you think I put Clemson up there?
- 53:23Speaker 1: I I like Clemson. You give me clems in Miami.
- 53:27Speaker 1: That's gonna that's gonna be a damn good game. State.
- 53:32Speaker 1: I'm I'm, I'm we're putting them with them? Uh Tennessee.
- 53:38Speaker 4: Mhm mm hmm.
- 53:42Speaker 1: He's tough.
- 53:45Speaker 4: I think they in my mind, they're better than what
- 53:47Speaker 4: they actually are.
- 53:50Speaker 1: No, Tennessee, L s U though, what do you think
- 53:53Speaker 1: about those two?
- 53:54Speaker 4: I take L s U.
- 53:55Speaker 6: I take L s U. The only wyness he has
- 54:00Speaker 6: right now is over Oklahoma, and Oklahoma's dog shit.
- 54:03Speaker 1: And I will say this, Tennessee is stung the last
- 54:07Speaker 1: two weeks, like beating Fourner the way they did. Okay,
- 54:09Speaker 1: we'll throw them down the next one. They're off game.
- 54:16Speaker 6: I don't know how to put them in there. I
- 54:18Speaker 6: know they beat one A and M.
- 54:23Speaker 4: You can't lose North Illinois and be up here.
- 54:26Speaker 6: But the Northern Illinois loss is tough.
- 54:29Speaker 1: So maybe maybe do we have a tier of Miami
- 54:32Speaker 1: Pens Day, LC, Clemson, Yes, tier and then ending on
- 54:39Speaker 1: how depending and how Texas and Georgia goes. If Texas
- 54:42Speaker 1: wins that game, I mean I'd be impressive. Twenty one
- 54:45Speaker 1: to thirty one to seventeen A right, that puts BAMA
- 54:49Speaker 1: in Georgia with them, I think, m hm okay, So
- 54:53Speaker 1: I like it. So we're we're going or Iowa State.
- 54:57Speaker 1: We're throwing Tennessee there H, Notre Dame, there, A and M.
- 55:04Speaker 1: We're throwing A and M. There, here's b Yu, Here's
- 55:11Speaker 1: here's another conversation here. Now I'm looking at this. I
- 55:17Speaker 1: want to throw Iowa State with B y U, and
- 55:19Speaker 1: I want to throw Iowa State with b Yu. Boise State.
- 55:24Speaker 1: I don't, I don't. I think they're below Tennessee, A
- 55:26Speaker 1: and M, Notre Dame. I don't know why.
- 55:30Speaker 6: It's the SEC bias.
- 55:33Speaker 4: Now I'm with you on that.
- 55:36Speaker 1: You don't want to get too many tears. But we
- 55:37Speaker 1: can see what we come up, what we get to here.
- 55:41Speaker 1: So if we go Iowa State and then we're throwing
- 55:45Speaker 1: Boise in there, we're throwing b y U in there.
- 55:53Speaker 1: I put state in there, State there, Missouri, I throw
- 56:01Speaker 1: them in there. Yeah, Indiana, let's wait on them for
- 56:06Speaker 1: a second. Old Miss. Where are we throwing them at?
- 56:10Speaker 4: Oh? Yeah, they're they're definitely in this one.
- 56:12Speaker 1: I think they're ahead of them.
- 56:15Speaker 3: I would still put them in that grouping. I don't
- 56:17Speaker 3: know if i'd put them ahead.
- 56:18Speaker 1: Well, you just watch them in with LSU and we
- 56:20Speaker 1: have LSU and two tiers above them. I'd throw Ole
- 56:24Speaker 1: miss with Notre Dame, Tennessee and A and m. Oh boy,
- 56:31Speaker 1: you guys have old Miss Boise State toss up, Ole
- 56:35Speaker 1: Miss b yu A toss up? Yeah, I would, Austin,
- 56:41Speaker 1: do you have old Miss Notre Dame A toss up?
- 56:46Speaker 6: All right? Fair enough, you've convinced me.
- 56:49Speaker 1: Ole Miss Tennessee, Ole Miss A, and M they're in
- 56:52Speaker 1: that one.
- 56:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Ole Miss, Iowa state, Ole Miss.
- 56:59Speaker 1: Is ben Was State.
- 57:03Speaker 4: Okay, we may find out.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Now here's here's here's where we start talking. Where's Indianna
- 57:11Speaker 1: because they're the next team here that's six and zero.
- 57:14Speaker 1: They're ranked sixteenth, and Nebraska obviously plays them.
- 57:19Speaker 4: Here in this here you do? Oh yeah, I.
- 57:28Speaker 6: Think they're lower. They have not played anyone good.
- 57:33Speaker 1: So yeah, did they fit more here? Or let's start
- 57:35Speaker 1: mentioning these next teams.
- 57:36Speaker 4: Here as I was State played though.
- 57:40Speaker 1: Let's start mentioning these next teams pitt SMU, Illinois Army, Navy, Michigan,
- 57:53Speaker 1: or's Michigan.
- 57:56Speaker 4: Lower than almost lower than anyone you just mentioned.
- 58:01Speaker 1: And I'm just gonna say it, Vanderbilt, Nebraska, Yeah, Washington State, Iowa,
- 58:11Speaker 1: these are these are all these next teams we're talking about.
- 58:13Speaker 1: I'm not we're not going to go too much further
- 58:14Speaker 1: past this, but USC, Louisville, Utah, Arkansas, like all these teams,
- 58:23Speaker 1: where do you where are you draw on the line
- 58:25Speaker 1: at or or all these teams in their own tier?
- 58:27Speaker 1: Or do we group Iowa State, Boise State, b y,
- 58:31Speaker 1: UK State, Missouri with them, no teams in one big
- 58:36Speaker 1: jumble bunch. That's where I think, like, and I'm calling
- 58:39Speaker 1: it like the decent tier. I think all of these
- 58:41Speaker 1: teams here are decent. I don't know where they're at
- 58:45Speaker 1: like you, you throw them all against each other. I don't.
- 58:47Speaker 1: I don't know who stands out.
- 58:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 58:50Speaker 2: I would throw all those teams you just named in
- 58:51Speaker 2: the same tier, like you said, a decent tier.
- 58:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 58:54Speaker 2: I don't see any one to just name them super
- 58:57Speaker 2: bubb any other teams.
- 59:00Speaker 4: I think all of me names two could be each
- 59:02Speaker 4: other easily.
- 59:03Speaker 1: So the only one I'm gonna argue here is Michigan.
- 59:07Speaker 4: Michigan bad.
- 59:09Speaker 1: I don't think they look good. Do they deserve to
- 59:11Speaker 1: be above this tier? No?
- 59:12Speaker 6: I know, I don't think so.
- 59:14Speaker 1: I mean, dak oh you Michigan, do you like? Oh you?
- 59:17Speaker 1: In that game?
- 59:19Speaker 2: Given people stay awake, said offensive football back twenty years.
- 59:28Speaker 1: Can we beat Michigan right now? Yeah?
- 59:30Speaker 4: I think I think it's going good pretty easily. I'm not.
- 59:33Speaker 4: I'm not I'm Michigan at all.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Okay, So before we close this off and finish, are there?
- 59:41Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys have the rankings open.
- 59:43Speaker 1: Is there anybody and I'm gonna throw Army Navy and
- 59:45Speaker 1: here both looked really good. Is there anybody in this
- 59:50Speaker 1: list that you what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna put
- 59:53Speaker 1: all of them into one unless there's teams we don't
- 59:55Speaker 1: want to be in this like decent tier, and I'm
- 59:57Speaker 1: gonna call everybody else bad for that purpose. Everybody else
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: is just bad. Is there any team in this tier
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: that you don't think is deserving?
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Vanderbilt they beat Alabama, and Alabama's like you were arguing
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: for a top tier.
- 1:00:12Speaker 6: They can't.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: That's and I think all these SEC teams, that's why
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: I'm moving. I just think the SEC is still good.
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: And they just beat somebody last I can't remember they beat.
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: I think not bad.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Let's see. I mean, I think Arizona State's proven and
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: they beat Utah. I think Utah's in this tier still.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: I think Arkansas is.
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: Looked good.
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: How about how about Colorado?
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: Ooh, that's a good one.
- 1:00:39Speaker 6: That's a good call. I think I put them in
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: that tier too.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: We could throw them again.
- 1:00:42Speaker 6: I don't.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: They're not receiving any votes, but I think I think
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: there's probably more than just the ones that are receiving
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: votes that we could throw in this tier. Right yeah?
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: Are there any I mean, Liberty you're dropping that Liberty
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: and unl V you're dropping them off.
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: They're proudly in this tier.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: I mean, is there a drop off there or not?
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Like again, Dak would as ou would you be confident
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: you could beat U N l V?
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: Like?
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Yeah, would real good about Olahoa.
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: I feel like Nebraska playing Liberty and you and l
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: V I feel good about.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: So maybe those are two teams that are in there.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: Everybody else though, like USC, we're going to see I mean,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Louisville all these other teams there they are less than
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: the touchdown spread, right mm hmm, yeah, that's where they are.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: So okay, I think we got a good idea there.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: So here's where you landed to recap. And I like,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: I like this conversation because I think this is how
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: I think of college football and where everybody's at. I
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: think everybody has their own spot on this team's not
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: very good. This seems better, This seems ranked higher than
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: they should. These don't follow the rankings, by the way,
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: like there's some jumping around. We have no one in
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: the elite here. Right now we have Texas, Ohio State,
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: Oregon and Tier two a top tier, and then right
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: below them that we're still calling Tier two, but just
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: below them, bammon, Georgia and Georgia Texas. Game is gonna
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: tell us whether they get bumped down or up next tier.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: Here we're going Miami, Penn State, LSU, and Clemson as
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: a grouping. Then the next right below that, which I
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: think it's worthy of making. Maybe we could combine these.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: I don't know Tennessee, Notre Dame A, and m will Miss.
- 1:02:36Speaker 6: They're closed, but I think I'm fine with that group
- 1:02:39Speaker 6: separation there. Yeah, and then.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: After that, I mean, you're you're into the decent tier
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: and maybe we could even go good Tier AY and
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: good Tier B is what those teams are, and then
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: you got the decent tier of all these other teams
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: we just talked about that sum are gonna get cut
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: off and go into bad. But I think I like that,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Like there's no lead, there's a few rates, there's a
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: about eight to ten good, and then there's forty to
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: fifty decent teams and guess what, there's twelve that get in.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: So that that leaves all rumor these decent teams to
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: get in and guess who's in.
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: That grouping Nebraskay. That gives you a hey, we went
- 1:03:25Speaker 7: want to know this week we got ranked in the
- 1:03:27Speaker 7: coaches Pull.
- 1:03:27Speaker 6: We didn't even.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: Play let's go, did we actually yeah, twenty five bumped in.
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: And I think you're twenty six and eight p.
- 1:03:37Speaker 6: Yeah, No, I think Vandy is twenty six.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. I'm just looking James Madison Tulaane. Yeah,
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: they're not They're not in that decent tier. They're not.
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: I agree.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: No, no, oh dad, are you ready for better?
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: Or what me?
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: Biggie on?
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: No yet?
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: It okay? Any other last minute thoughts here by a
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: week wrapping up?
- 1:04:05Speaker 6: I don't think so surviving another Survivor week.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Austin still live, dack seven and three week?
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: Ye on one on the lock thought the.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: Lock of the year, you go.
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: Yeah, the basket volleyball skated by against Purdue, and I
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: think are always basketball team is gonna be really freaking
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: good this year.
- 1:04:25Speaker 6: That's all. I'm gonna stay on women's hoops. But I
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: think we're gonna be really good.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: You do need to dive a little more deeper into
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: that here'd be it closer to the season, because I'm
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: I'm with you, like, I.
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: Think we're gonna be really good.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: There are some fun potential there with that group. So yeah,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: we will talk a little more women's soops here coming
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: up as well. All right, we'll be back on Wednesday.
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: Two.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: Review the Indiana Hoosiers, big new kickoff, huge game, a
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: bunch of decent.
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: We're going.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: I am going as all were screwed. But okay, Dagar,
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: I'm not sure how you're gonna end this, but go
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: big Red tv R.
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: Nope, nothing boomer soon kay.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: M hm.
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: Hm that that that that
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: N
