- 0:11ahead across the city. I'm Carol. It's Friday,
- 0:16September 4th, 2026. Let's get you caught up.
- 0:19We begin with an update to a story we brought
- 0:21you yesterday from Rosemont area. Sacramento
- 0:24County Sheriff's Office say a man was found dead
- 0:26inside a home early Thursday morning following
- 0:29a roughly three -hour standoff. Deputies were
- 0:32called shortly before 1245 a .m. after the victim's
- 0:36adult son went to a neighbor's home and asked
- 0:38them to call 911, reporting that his father's
- 0:41girlfriend had shot him. When deputies arrived,
- 0:44several people were potentially still inside
- 0:47the residence. At one point, a woman identified
- 0:50as a suspect came to the front door holding a
- 0:53firearm. She later placed the weapon on the porch
- 0:56and went back inside. Deputies evacuated the
- 0:59three adults and three children from the accessory
- 1:03dwelling unit behind the home, along with residents
- 1:06of nearby homes. After repeated announcements
- 1:08asking the suspect to surrender, deputies deployed
- 1:11chemical agents and a drone into the residence
- 1:14where authorities say the woman was seen with
- 1:17at least one additional firearm. Special enforcement
- 1:20detail personnel eventually entered the home
- 1:22and detained her without further incident. An
- 1:26adult man was found dead inside. Homicide detectives
- 1:29and crime scene investigators are handling the
- 1:32case and authorities say they do not believe
- 1:34there are any outstanding suspects. And elsewhere
- 1:38in Sacramento County, deputies investigating
- 1:39a Wednesday night shooting outside a laundromat
- 1:47on Madison Avenue. Shortly before 10 .45 p .m.,
- 1:51deputies responded to the 5400 block of Madison
- 1:53Avenue where a man was found suffering from a
- 1:56single gunshot wound to the leg. Deputies provided
- 1:59medical aid, including applying a tourniquet,
- 2:01before the man was taken to the hospital in stable
- 2:05condition. According to the sheriff's office,
- 2:07the victim did not provide investigators with
- 2:09information about what led to the shooting. Detectives
- 2:13are now continuing the investigation and are
- 2:15looking for witnesses and surveillance video
- 2:17from the area. You're tuned into the Sacramento
