- 2:19Speaker 2: not doctor Chin. It is le Viganuary Queen Angela. I
- 2:25Speaker 2: don't know what is going on, y'all know, Doctor Chen
- 2:28Speaker 2: is over in one of those areas for some time.
- 2:32Speaker 2: She may have connection issues, it may be something going on.
- 2:35Speaker 2: We never know, but guess what, I'm always on standby,
- 2:40Speaker 2: I'm always ready, I'm always willing to go ahead and
- 2:44Speaker 2: go for so tonight, y'all know, I'm not gonna be
- 2:49Speaker 2: before you, loan, but I just had to make sure
- 2:52Speaker 2: that I'm in place because we said that we will
- 2:54Speaker 2: be on Sunday through Friday, eight o'clock, eight o' clod
- 3:02Speaker 2: we own. All I can say is I'm keeping to
- 3:06Speaker 2: what we're supposed to be doing. So we're supposed to
- 3:09Speaker 2: be bringing your content. So I'm gonna give you something.
- 3:12Speaker 2: It may not be what you're expecting because doctor Chen
- 3:18Speaker 2: is Doctor Chen and I am Angela. So hey, y'all
- 3:23Speaker 2: know what I want to talk about. Y'all know, I
- 3:25Speaker 2: just can't get this. I just cannot get this current
- 3:30Speaker 2: state of America out of me. I just for the
- 3:36Speaker 2: lights of me, I just cannot let it go. I
- 3:40Speaker 2: do have someone on the phone with me because I'm
- 3:43Speaker 2: always talking to my y'all. Like these hosts, like they're
- 3:48Speaker 2: not just like hosts. They they they family to me.
- 3:51Speaker 2: So when when you see me talking about half Paint Trevida,
- 3:56Speaker 2: that that's my little sister. She she reminds me so
- 3:59Speaker 2: much of me. I say she's my half paint because
- 4:02Speaker 2: if she stands beside me, she's like half to height me,
- 4:05Speaker 2: half the height of me. But she reminds me so
- 4:08Speaker 2: much of me. Every time I see her own this
- 4:11Speaker 2: podcast talking. Every when I see her standing up in
- 4:15Speaker 2: front of the room talking whatever it is that she's doing,
- 4:19Speaker 2: she constantly reminds me of me. So that's my half paint.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Everybody owned this podcast. I could truly tell you a
- 4:29Speaker 2: story about them and what they truly mean to me,
- 4:32Speaker 2: but I'm not gonna do that. I want to talk
- 4:34Speaker 2: about the current state of America, and y'all, I got
- 4:39Speaker 2: my friend on her, y'all. I talk to this little
- 4:42Speaker 2: lady every day. Hey girl, So I was talking to Shannette, y'all,
- 4:51Speaker 2: and y'all know I'm in Georgia right now. So I
- 4:55Speaker 2: was seeing these things flying around and they are not
- 5:01Speaker 2: airplanes and they cannot tell me. Yeah, I'm by the airport,
- 5:05Speaker 2: but those are not airplanes. I know what airplanes look
- 5:08Speaker 2: like because I ride on them all the time, and
- 5:11Speaker 2: I ride on them at night time, so I see
- 5:14Speaker 2: out the window what they look at like, the colors
- 5:17Speaker 2: that they are and all of this stuff. So I'm
- 5:22Speaker 2: just looking around and it's like they just keep going
- 5:25Speaker 2: around and around, and I'm just counting them as they coming.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I'm just telling you that they go another one, they
- 5:30Speaker 2: go another one they're going to and then they moving
- 5:32Speaker 2: too fast. They're not moving like airplanes. I'm seeing airplanes
- 5:37Speaker 2: fly by too, So I'm like, really, what is this?
- 5:39Speaker 2: So I'm thinking, I'm saying, Okay, well, maybe it's something
- 5:42Speaker 2: to do with Amazon, because we do have a huge
- 5:46Speaker 2: Amazon up the street. So somebody y'all google that for me.
- 5:51Speaker 2: See what's going on? See if y'all can find out
- 5:54Speaker 2: what is going on around the Atlanta Airport in the
- 5:59Speaker 2: air traffic area. Yeah, it's a lot of stuff going on.
- 6:03Speaker 2: We talk about all of this star Link and all
- 6:08Speaker 2: of these different things that is happening so Shannette and
- 6:14Speaker 2: Patrisa's on too. I hope she ready for this too.
- 6:19Speaker 2: She's on, she's she's she's in the in the feed.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I see her on to read us on and we
- 6:27Speaker 2: just we're just gonna have conversation. That's that's, that's, that's,
- 6:30Speaker 2: that's what we're gonna do. Look, I don't know what
- 6:32Speaker 2: I just did.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Because I'm sitting here driving and uh, next thing, y'all
- 6:42Speaker 3: know I'm online with you.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Well, doctor Chan is in the building too, so we're
- 6:50Speaker 2: gonna turn it over to her. Yes, she's here.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Hello, Kaah.
- 7:38Speaker 5: For each and every one of you for being able
- 7:40Speaker 5: to hold space.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Well we can hear you. Oh wonderful here if you
- 7:47Speaker 2: drop out, we here we we we we at you.
- 7:51Speaker 2: In the background, I was actually on the phone with her,
- 7:55Speaker 2: so we was just having a conversation right before we
- 7:58Speaker 2: jumped on live. So we ready, we stay ready.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Oh fantastic.
- 8:03Speaker 6: Well, first and foremost, please stay because I prefer for
- 8:06Speaker 6: this to be collective, because it's going to be someone short.
- 8:09Speaker 6: Because I'm literally standing outside under an awning in a
- 8:13Speaker 6: historic building, so that for whatever reason this building was
- 8:18Speaker 6: built like in the late seventeen hundreds and it's not
- 8:23Speaker 6: permitting the Internet signal, and I didn't know that.
- 8:27Speaker 5: I thought it would.
- 8:28Speaker 6: Have been a nice ambiance to add, since March is
- 8:33Speaker 6: honored at International Women's Months, obviously, to really highlight the
- 8:38Speaker 6: achievements the engagements of our women folk globally, right, and
- 8:44Speaker 6: there's a lot of things that are happening with the
- 8:46Speaker 6: United Nations Commission on the Status of Women that I
- 8:50Speaker 6: think is really important for us as sisters around.
- 8:55Speaker 5: The Crew podcast to just keep.
- 8:58Speaker 6: Our energies going and flowing, because we've got authors, poets, scientists, artisans,
- 9:07Speaker 6: all types of healers, spiritual leaders, activists, inspirational speakers, and
- 9:14Speaker 6: much much more right amongst us. And then here in
- 9:18Speaker 6: the Virgin Islands, the month of March is also designated
- 9:23Speaker 6: as the Virgin Islands History Month, So it allows us
- 9:27Speaker 6: to use each day in March to highlight not just one,
- 9:32Speaker 6: not just two, but a multiplicity of Virgin Islanders persons
- 9:37Speaker 6: that are born here, that have contributed here, that worship here,
- 9:42Speaker 6: that recreate here, that labor here in terms of their
- 9:47Speaker 6: engagements in uplifting Virgin Islands history, culture, traditions, education.
- 9:56Speaker 5: Achievements and much more.
- 9:57Speaker 6: And what's funny is I'm literally standing in front of
- 10:01Speaker 6: a building that is a space called Hamilton's House. So
- 10:05Speaker 6: if you look in the back of me, you're gonna
- 10:07Speaker 6: see these wonderful paintings and illustrations of the Alexander Hamilton,
- 10:14Speaker 6: who while born in the island of Nevis, he grew
- 10:19Speaker 6: up as a youth and studied here in Saint Croix.
- 10:23Speaker 5: And then on the other side.
- 10:25Speaker 6: Of the space called Hamilton's there's also a picture, another
- 10:30Speaker 6: painting of another one of our historical comes, the honorable
- 10:36Speaker 6: David Hamilton Jackson, who was an African born Virgin Island
- 10:42Speaker 6: was then Danish West Indies.
- 10:45Speaker 5: He was a labor leader, he.
- 10:47Speaker 6: Was a publisher. I want to highlight that because he
- 10:50Speaker 6: really pushed for the first liberty newspaper here in the
- 10:55Speaker 6: Virgin Islands now that was then the Danish West Indies.
- 10:59Speaker 6: And he was a judge and a lawyer and a
- 11:02Speaker 6: bunch of other things in addition to being a significant
- 11:05Speaker 6: contributor to all things here in the Virgin Islands. So
- 11:09Speaker 6: I just wanted you all to be where I'm standing.
- 11:15Speaker 6: Where I'm at this is on Company Street in the
- 11:20Speaker 6: isle of Saint the of course, two square Sat John's twenty.
- 11:34Speaker 5: Square miles and our fourth island that people tend to
- 11:37Speaker 5: overlook is Water Island, which is two square miles.
- 11:40Speaker 6: So this just gives us an opportunity to be in
- 11:43Speaker 6: the space to talk about how we're able to bring
- 11:47Speaker 6: some of these conversations around Virgin Island's history and heritage
- 11:52Speaker 6: and culture as well as International Women's History Months, or
- 11:58Speaker 6: where some people referred to as just International Women's Month.
- 12:02Speaker 6: And I think that with that, my intention was to
- 12:05Speaker 6: have the opportunity to share with our viewers and listeners
- 12:10Speaker 6: a little bit more about some of the activities that
- 12:14Speaker 6: are forcedcoming during this month. There are a number of
- 12:19Speaker 6: historical cultural traditions, s tuality, science and arts initiatives that
- 12:28Speaker 6: are being speattered here in the Virgin Islands.
- 12:31Speaker 5: Regardless of all of the.
- 12:33Speaker 6: Silence and quietness around DEI diversity, equity and inclusion, we're
- 12:40Speaker 6: learning that many of our non governmental organizations, many of
- 12:46Speaker 6: our community based organizations, our civil society organizations, are using
- 12:52Speaker 6: this as a time to repair the damages done amongst
- 12:57Speaker 6: our humanity that shared and I'm really excited to just
- 13:01Speaker 6: be able to share that short piece, that short snippet
- 13:06Speaker 6: of how we're moving beyond the distractions or the limitations
- 13:13Speaker 6: or the anger mismanagement comes to find these things is
- 13:18Speaker 6: anger mismanagement when we start to talk about how we
- 13:23Speaker 6: look at what's happening nationally that's impassing our global communities
- 13:29Speaker 6: and how our women folks work alongside with our men folks,
- 13:34Speaker 6: our youth, our elders and all in between to be
- 13:38Speaker 6: able to show a layer of respect.
- 13:42Speaker 7: A layer, a layer of how we bring truth, ask power,
- 13:50Speaker 7: and a variety the other that I desire to share
- 13:55Speaker 7: with sister.
- 14:25Speaker 5: Since we're speaking.
- 14:26Speaker 6: About international women's mind with the Galla Geechee community in
- 14:32Speaker 6: the forty eight contiguous US, there was a recent international
- 14:37Speaker 6: Gullageechee Cultural Heritage Conference that was hosted at Coastal Carolina University.
- 14:46Speaker 6: I want to send a special shout out to CCU
- 14:51Speaker 6: and all of its administration and staff from making that
- 14:54Speaker 6: a very resounding successful gathering. And I want to send
- 14:59Speaker 6: a special shout out to sister Queen Zenobia, who I
- 15:03Speaker 6: did not get a chance to speak with her at length,
- 15:06Speaker 6: but he was really instrumental with her team of other
- 15:11Speaker 6: sisters as well as brothers that worked to get their
- 15:14Speaker 6: students to work together to really give an international voice
- 15:21Speaker 6: an international publication opportunity that brought brothers and sisters literally
- 15:27Speaker 6: from the forty eight contiguous cus other parts of the Caribbean,
- 15:32Speaker 6: Canada as well as Surinama. And there was a publications
- 15:38Speaker 6: say it again.
- 15:40Speaker 2: As they shout out Conway.
- 15:43Speaker 6: Of course, definitely shout out right because I'm grateful for that.
- 15:47Speaker 6: And what was powerful was to see the number of publications.
- 15:52Speaker 6: We got some serious authors on this side of the Atlantic,
- 15:57Speaker 6: and I really am excited to be able to share,
- 16:00Speaker 6: you know, some of these persons that were coming from
- 16:03Speaker 6: different primarily the women were who I had a chance
- 16:06Speaker 6: to be able to have opportunities to interface and speak
- 16:10Speaker 6: with during that time in South Carolina. And I'm looking
- 16:15Speaker 6: forward to being in a place where I have full
- 16:19Speaker 6: signal and I don't have any limitations. You in South
- 16:22Speaker 6: Carta highlighting. Yes, he was in Conway for about three days.
- 16:29Speaker 2: He was in Conway.
- 16:30Speaker 5: Yes, Wow, I.
- 16:35Speaker 6: Know it was very last minute. I'm gonna take I'll
- 16:37Speaker 6: take my blows. I swallow that because it was no so.
- 16:42Speaker 2: You Okay, my sister's there, but I don't need anyone.
- 16:47Speaker 2: You would have been if I had been there, you
- 16:49Speaker 2: would have been right around the corner from me. I
- 16:51Speaker 2: used to the corners.
- 16:53Speaker 6: Yes, and it was there were so many things that
- 16:55Speaker 6: were happening in that space and gave brother Ray right.
- 17:01Speaker 6: I just want to highlight that this brother just walking
- 17:03Speaker 6: in Bacony is one of the baddest.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Musicians and historians right here. This is Brother Ray.
- 17:08Speaker 6: I know, I thank you laugh but I am on
- 17:11Speaker 6: a live but I just am amazed that there was
- 17:15Speaker 6: so many different elements of culture, heritage, technology, arts and
- 17:22Speaker 6: sciences that were shared in that experience and the number
- 17:26Speaker 6: like I had an opportunity to work alongside doctor Alithium
- 17:33Speaker 6: here in a ranger in that experience, and we did
- 17:39Speaker 6: a presentation where we showed the connection between the gulagiche carvender,
- 17:46Speaker 6: the heritage, et cetera in the forty eight contiguous US,
- 17:50Speaker 6: and we showed the time to our Mara nage and
- 17:53Speaker 6: our Maroon sanctuary lands and personage here in Saint Croix
- 17:59Speaker 6: and the White Caribbean that took us as far as southeast,
- 18:03Speaker 6: you know, it took us to Jamaica, it took us
- 18:05Speaker 6: to Surinama. We had a chance to speak of maranaj
- 18:09Speaker 6: throughout different parts of the Caribbean, and that particular presentation
- 18:14Speaker 6: we should have posted in the next couple of days,
- 18:17Speaker 6: and that way persons can We're always encouraging persons look
- 18:21Speaker 6: at the content on us Speaks A S T sp
- 18:27Speaker 6: Eaks on YouTube, and then that way persons can see.
- 18:32Speaker 5: And we always are looking for the.
- 18:35Speaker 6: Positive critique and feedback because these are the types of
- 18:40Speaker 6: presentations that we're now shifting from just a presentation for
- 18:45Speaker 6: intellectual exchange, but actually publishing that work, creating that book,
- 18:51Speaker 6: creating those collections of essays of the great work that.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Is being done. And again the highlight has.
- 18:59Speaker 6: Been around International Women's Month, Virgin Island's history coming out
- 19:04Speaker 6: of February that highlighted African Black History months.
- 19:09Speaker 5: So I'm gonna pause put a pen there.
- 19:12Speaker 6: I want to thank everyone that's been able to listen
- 19:15Speaker 6: and share, and I will make sure that I double
- 19:20Speaker 6: check when I think people have working Internet. We have
- 19:24Speaker 6: some rain so I realized sometimes our services shift, and
- 19:29Speaker 6: so hopefully it'll get turned back on in the next
- 19:32Speaker 6: few hours and I'll be able to join again on
- 19:36Speaker 6: the first and third Thursday at eight pm, because on
- 19:42Speaker 6: March ninth we have daylight savings. So while in the
- 19:47Speaker 6: forty eight contiguous you go forward an hour will then
- 19:51Speaker 6: be on the same time with Atlantic Standard time in
- 19:55Speaker 6: Eastern Standard time. But I hope that I've covered something
- 20:00Speaker 6: that are of venturance. I'm looking forward to being able
- 20:03Speaker 6: to keep this flow of the one hundred Authors initiative,
- 20:10Speaker 6: some of our aspiring author initiatives. Those that are within
- 20:15Speaker 6: our group that get email and might forget to give
- 20:18Speaker 6: a response, just give a little quick shout out so
- 20:21Speaker 6: that we know that you're working on your publications and
- 20:24Speaker 6: getting things in order. And for those that might forget,
- 20:29Speaker 6: we know that Sister Queen Visionary Angela will remind you regularly,
- 20:38Speaker 6: all right, So I just want to I just want
- 20:42Speaker 6: to highlight that. And with that, we're going to close
- 20:44Speaker 6: out since we have some limitations in some of our
- 20:48Speaker 6: technologies right here for tonight. Anything else further you think
- 20:53Speaker 6: I need to cover, Sister Queen.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Now you good. I mean, that's good. But it's just
- 20:57Speaker 2: a small world. Because Patrice down there in Charleston, Golagucci area,
- 21:06Speaker 2: that that's in the one hundred office movement, he's Glagucci.
- 21:10Speaker 2: He that's that's that's that's in his bio. Yes, we're gonna.
- 21:18Speaker 6: Get it right, because there's a lot of partnerships. Yeah,
- 21:21Speaker 6: there's some wonderful partnerships and like we met some folks
- 21:25Speaker 6: like I need to in our next podcast. I know,
- 21:28Speaker 6: I'm gonna take some qualitative time to pull that program
- 21:32Speaker 6: so I can go through the number of persons that
- 21:36Speaker 6: are linked to that International Dalagichi Cultural Heritage Corner and
- 21:42Speaker 6: then all of the different agencies that they're looking for
- 21:46Speaker 6: to support and provide resources and to expand economic development opportunities.
- 21:52Speaker 5: They're looking to be able.
- 21:54Speaker 6: To have that parallel source for persons that want to
- 22:00Speaker 6: published about Golagchi live about you don't share the lifestyle
- 22:05Speaker 6: of Glagchi.
- 22:06Speaker 5: I mean I saw sisters and brothers that have.
- 22:08Speaker 6: All kinds of crafts, all types. It was a whole
- 22:12Speaker 6: artisans network.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I went, I'm telling you, I went to an event
- 22:17Speaker 2: down there in Charleston. Patrice came out there. I think
- 22:21Speaker 2: that was the first time me and Patrice met in person.
- 22:24Speaker 2: And the lady was down there. She was she was
- 22:26Speaker 2: teaching different cowls and different things that they they say
- 22:33Speaker 2: and things that they were doing, and she was she
- 22:36Speaker 2: was just doing different stuff like it was fun. They was.
- 22:40Speaker 8: They did dancing, They did some dances and if I'm
- 22:43Speaker 8: not mistaken Patrise's daughter. Her school is connected to the Golagche.
- 22:50Speaker 8: If I'm not wonderful, wonderful, well she on here.
- 22:54Speaker 5: Well I know that we have.
- 22:56Speaker 6: But what I'm gonna make sure that we do is
- 22:59Speaker 6: have that as part of our discussion so that it
- 23:03Speaker 6: doesn't you know, my guests can just be O a
- 23:06Speaker 6: sissequin that know even more than what I'm sharing, because
- 23:11Speaker 6: I think it's really critical for persons to know that
- 23:14Speaker 6: there were a number of opportunities and I don't want
- 23:17Speaker 6: to keep coming back to that on economic development drivers,
- 23:22Speaker 6: economic development initiatives, so that the Gullageche traditions, culture, heritage, arts, science, education,
- 23:34Speaker 6: all of that are highlighted, respectfully supported and sustaining.
- 23:41Speaker 5: I want to highlight that.
- 23:42Speaker 6: Part that they're respectfully and sustainably preserved. Like that was
- 23:50Speaker 6: the part that I thought was, you know, there were
- 23:52Speaker 6: I didn't know they had a whole commission.
- 23:54Speaker 5: You know, they've been they're getting ready to celebrate.
- 23:57Speaker 6: Twenty years of having their respective heritage area World Heritage
- 24:05Speaker 6: initiatives in place in twenty twenty six. So there were
- 24:09Speaker 6: a lot of persons, not I don't remember all their names,
- 24:12Speaker 6: but I was really touched to know the connections that
- 24:16Speaker 6: it has with an international stretch and reach of the
- 24:21Speaker 6: Gallagchi because when in the forty eight conticuous we say
- 24:24Speaker 6: Gallagichi in the Caribbean, we may say Marianaj and other
- 24:28Speaker 6: parts of the Caribbean, you're gonna say Garafuna or kiss Kaya.
- 24:32Speaker 6: You're gonna always be speaking of those indigenous ancestral original
- 24:37Speaker 6: people that held onto our original ancestral native culture. So
- 24:43Speaker 6: I'm I feel I'm fault. I'm really fault. I'm really
- 24:47Speaker 6: full and honored, honored. So with that one, before this
- 24:51Speaker 6: clicks out again, because I'm sitting under this light to
- 24:55Speaker 6: keep this going, I want to thank you and the
- 24:58Speaker 6: viewers and listeners for just giving me an opportunity to
- 25:02Speaker 6: share in such a short amount of time because we
- 25:05Speaker 6: know Doctor, you know, Queen Mother, Doctor chen zero can
- 25:08Speaker 6: go on for an hour, but I want to respect
- 25:11Speaker 6: my access points right now and thank everyone for listening
- 25:18Speaker 6: to and being part of building a new legacy here
- 25:23Speaker 6: with the Crew podcast.
- 25:25Speaker 5: This is Queen Mother Doctor ten zero moving it forward.
- 25:30Speaker 5: Give that you know that Ray keep.
- 25:32Speaker 6: It going always always.
- 25:38Speaker 5: I hear you. Give thanks.
- 25:46Speaker 6: We have Virgin Island's historians right walking on in town
- 25:51Speaker 6: offering content and telling me next time I need to
- 25:55Speaker 6: invite them formally to our podcast, so that will be
- 25:58Speaker 6: happening for sure or for sure. But thank you, Sister Queen,
- 26:03Speaker 6: our visionary Angela, for just giving us this platform and
- 26:08Speaker 6: the opportunity to move this type of content proactively. Forward
- 26:14Speaker 6: and readings and good night to everyone, well, thank you,
- 26:19Speaker 6: have a good night.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Good night,
