- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, February 1st, Living
- 0:12with lasting impact. Have you ever felt that quiet
- 0:15pressure inside? Like one decision could change
- 0:17more than just your own day? Like one choice could ripple out
- 0:21and affect people you love, people watching you, people you
- 0:25don't even realize are paying attention.
- 0:28That pressure is real because our lives are always speaking,
- 0:31even when we think they're not. Scripture puts it simply In
- 0:35Proverbs chapter 10, verse one, a wise son makes a glad father,
- 0:39but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.
- 0:42That verse isn't just about parents and children.
- 0:46It's about influence. Wisdom doesn't stay contained.
- 0:49It brings joy, stability, and peace to others.
- 0:52Foolishness doesn't stay private either.
- 0:54It leaves a trail of hurt, regret, and sorrow.
- 0:58Now hold that thought and step into Acts chapter 1.
- 1:02After everything the disciples had seen after the resurrection,
- 1:05Jesus tells them something surprising.
- 1:08He says in Acts chapter one, verse 4, that they were not to
- 1:11leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father.
- 1:15Wait. After all that momentum, all
- 1:18that excitement, all that urgency, Jesus tells them not to
- 1:22rush ahead. Then in Acts chapter one, verse
- 1:259, as they're still processing His words, he is lifted up
- 1:29before their eyes and a cloud takes him out of their sight.
- 1:32Can you imagine that moment? The awe, the uncertainty, the
- 1:37weight of responsibility? Jesus is gone physically, and
- 1:40now what they do next matters more than ever.
- 1:43They could run ahead in their own strength, or they could obey
- 1:46and wait. That tension is something we
- 1:48live with every day. Do I react or do I respond?
- 1:52Do I rush or do I trust? Do I choose what feels good now
- 1:55or what builds something? Lasting wisdom often looks
- 1:58slower. Waiting on God can feel
- 2:01uncomfortable, even risky. But impatience has a way of
- 2:05creating damage that wisdom could have prevented.
- 2:08Living with lasting impact means understanding that today's
- 2:11choices shape tomorrow's testimony.
- 2:14The way you speak. The way you forgive.
- 2:16The way you say no when it's hard.
- 2:19The way you wait when everyone else is moving fast.
- 2:22People are being affected by your decisions whether you see
- 2:25it or not. And here's the hope Jesus didn't
- 2:28ascend and leave them alone. He reigns.
- 2:31He is alive. He is still guiding, still
- 2:34empowering, still faithful to send what He promised.
- 2:37When you live with eternity in mind, your daily choices begin
- 2:41to line up differently. Wisdom becomes worth it.
- 2:44Waiting becomes purposeful. Faith becomes active.
- 2:47Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
- 2:50reminding me that my choices carry weight.
- 2:53Help me to walk in wisdom that honors You and brings life to
- 2:57the people around me. Teach me to wait on Your timing.
- 3:00Instead of rushing ahead in my own strength.
- 3:03Keep my heart anchored in the truth that Jesus is alive,
- 3:06reigning, and guiding my steps. I want to live with lasting
- 3:09impact, shaped by Your wisdom and led by Your Spirit in Jesus
- 3:13name, Amen. What if the way you pray changed
- 3:18because you truly knew who God is?

- 4:37Proverbs chapter 10 verse one world English Bible the proverbs
- 4:41of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father,
- 4:44but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.
- 4:47Acts, chapter one World English Bible.
- 4:50The first book I wrote, Theophyllus, concerned all that
- 4:53Jesus began both to do and to teach until the day in which he
- 4:57was received up, after he had given commandment through the
- 5:00Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.
- 5:03To these he also showed himself alive, after he suffered by many
- 5:07proofs, appearing to them over a period of 40 days, and speaking
- 5:10about God's Kingdom being assembled together with them, He
- 5:14commanded them. Don't depart from Jerusalem, but
- 5:17wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.
- 5:20For John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized
- 5:24in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.
- 5:27Therefore, when they had come together, they asked him, Lord,
- 5:30are you now restoring the Kingdom to Israel?
- 5:33He said to them, It isn't for you to know times or seasons
- 5:36which the Father has set within his own authority, but you will
- 5:39receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.
- 5:42You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and
- 5:46Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.
- 5:49When He had said these things as they were looking, He was taken
- 5:52up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
- 5:55While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as He
- 5:57went, behold, 2 men stood by them in white clothing, who also
- 6:01said, You men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky?
- 6:05This Jesus who was received up from you into the sky, will come
- 6:09back in the same way as you saw Him going into the sky.
- 6:12Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called all of
- 6:15it, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey away.
- 6:19When they had come in, they went up into the upper room where
- 6:22they were staying, That is, Peter, John, James, Andrew,
- 6:25Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of
- 6:28Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.
- 6:32All these with 1 accord continued steadfastly in prayer
- 6:36and supplication, along with the women and Mary the mother of
- 6:39Jesus and with his brothers. In these days Peter stood up in
- 6:43the middle of the disciples, and the number of names was about
- 6:46120, and said, Brothers, it was necessary that this Scripture
- 6:51should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the
- 6:54mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to those who took
- 6:58Jesus. For he was counted with us, and
- 7:00received his portion in this ministry.
- 7:03Now this man obtained a field with the reward for his
- 7:05wickedness, and falling headlong, his body burst open,
- 7:09and all his intestines gushed out.
- 7:11It became known to everyone who lived in Jerusalem that in their
- 7:14language that field was called Akaldama, that is the field of
- 7:18blood, for it is written in the book of Psalms.
- 7:21Let his habitation be made desolate, let no one dwell in
- 7:24it, and let another take his office.
- 7:28Of the men therefore, who have accompanied us all the time that
- 7:30the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the
- 7:33baptism of John to the day that He was received up from us, Of
- 7:37these one must become a witness with us of His resurrection.
- 7:41They put forward 2 Joseph called Barsabbas, who is also called
- 7:45Justice, and Matthias. They prayed and said, You Lord,
- 7:48who know the hearts of all men, show which one of these two you
- 7:51have chosen to take part in this ministry and apostleship, from
- 7:54which Judas fell away, that he might go to his own place.
- 7:58They drew lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias and he was
- 8:01counted with the 11 apostles. Thanks for joining us on Bible
