- 0:00Speaker 1: Let me get the theme music up here. All right. Uh,
- 0:15Speaker 1: quite the collection of geeks over the weekend.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, what were your thoughts? Uh, I, uh, it's
- 0:23Speaker 2: amazing to me. I hadn't been, been to panic for
- 0:26Speaker 2: quite some time. And, uh, I walk through there, and
- 0:30Speaker 2: there are people who have paid just such elaborate attention
- 0:34Speaker 2: to making their costumes. And, like, there'll be families all
- 0:41Speaker 2: costumed together. And I was also interested to note that
- 0:48Speaker 2: I probably didn't know what two-thirds of them were. I
- 0:53Speaker 2: liked them. I mean, they looked great, but I thought, what?
- 0:56Speaker 2: What is that?
- 0:56Speaker 1: What is that from? What is this from?
- 0:58Speaker 2: What is that from? A lot of anime and video
- 1:01Speaker 2: game stuff. Stuff that I don't really associate with much.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I love how they love what they're doing. That's what I.
- 1:07Speaker 2: And then the people who are not in costume, who
- 1:09Speaker 2: are just there to soak it all in and do that.
- 1:13Speaker 2: It's also an interesting group of people. People that I
- 1:17Speaker 2: kind of have a great fondness for. The sort of
- 1:21Speaker 2: the geek, the little bit of a misfit perhaps. You know,
- 1:26Speaker 2: people who've had trouble maybe fitting in in society somehow.
- 1:29Speaker 2: And I have great fondness for those people.
- 1:32Speaker 1: But then there's always one. Uh-oh. Well, a dick. Yeah,
- 1:37Speaker 1: that just wants to argue.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 1: And that's one of the things that's keeping, you know,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'm kind of backing away from my whole con experience.
- 1:46Speaker 1: But anyway, let's see. This trailer, it was released about
- 1:51Speaker 1: four days ago. And it's the latest trailer and the
- 1:54Speaker 1: final trailer for Clayface. Remember, Clayface is the Batman villain
- 2:01Speaker 1: who is a guy who is made of clay. Now,
- 2:06Speaker 1: this is R-rated. Okay. They just rated it R. And
- 2:11Speaker 1: it's such a body horror movie. And it would be,
- 2:15Speaker 1: wouldn't it, if you think about it? Sure. Because at
- 2:17Speaker 1: first he can't control it.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 1: You know, and that's what a lot of this trailer
- 2:21Speaker 1: is about, is, you know, where he can't control what's
- 2:24Speaker 1: happening to his body. He's melting. He's, you know, there's a... Well,
- 2:30Speaker 1: let me just get this for you here.
- 2:31Speaker 3: What do you want, Mr.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Higgins? I want my life back. So he, uh... He's
- 2:45Speaker 1: an actor. And he got beat up by a bunch
- 2:49Speaker 1: of mobsters. To the point where he had all this
- 2:53Speaker 1: plastic surgery. And then they reconstructed his face using this
- 2:59Speaker 1: experimental technique.
- 3:01Speaker 3: The procedure is causing troubling physical changes. Are you okay?
- 3:08Speaker 1: And every once in a while he'll look in a
- 3:09Speaker 1: mirror and half of his face is gone. You have
- 3:13Speaker 1: to learn to control it. There's a really freaky part
- 3:19Speaker 1: where he's on an airplane and there's turbulence and the
- 3:22Speaker 1: flight attendants are telling him, get back to your seat.
- 3:24Speaker 1: This is going to be hard for you to believe.
- 3:26Speaker 1: But he rubbed his eyes and his eyes have been
- 3:28Speaker 1: glued together. So he goes into the bathroom with these
- 3:32Speaker 1: little scissors. Is that so bad? And has to cut
- 3:36Speaker 1: his eyes open.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 3:40Speaker 1: No, thanks. Yeah, it's... And then there's one part where
- 3:43Speaker 1: he kills somebody by taking their head and putting it
- 3:46Speaker 1: in his stomach. And suffocating him? And suffocating him.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Oh, jeez.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I have no idea who you are anymore. And then
- 3:57Speaker 1: it shows that he can change his face. And Batman
- 4:03Speaker 1: isn't in here anymore? Batman is not in this part.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Okay. No.
- 4:06Speaker 1: No. But this will be just in time for Halloween,
- 4:08Speaker 1: October 23rd. Like I said, rated R. It's not for
- 4:13Speaker 1: the kids. I imagine this is going to be a hit.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Is anybody we know in it? Did you say? I'm sorry.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I'm sure there is. I think the lead guy is
- 4:22Speaker 1: somebody that you've seen before. But, yeah. What's it called again? Clayface.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I've never... You know, any time a movie can make
- 4:34Speaker 1: me care about a comic book character that I never
- 4:36Speaker 1: cared about, that's a win. And this one may have
- 4:40Speaker 1: done it for me. Oh, Eddie Marzen's in it. Eddie Marzen.
- 4:43Speaker 1: That's good.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Yeah, from Ray Donovan. Mm-hmm.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Now, another trailer. It's kind of a teaser commercial that
- 4:51Speaker 1: we got. Only a few weeks ago, Vision Quest marketing
- 4:56Speaker 1: really started. That's Paul Bettany's, you know, android from the Avengers.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 5:01Speaker 1: His life post-WandaVision. The miniseries has mostly pushed inner demons
- 5:06Speaker 1: like Ultron sticking around in his head. There's external threats
- 5:11Speaker 1: for Vision to go up against. And in the promo
- 5:15Speaker 1: we got this week is a comic book character called Jocasta. Now,
- 5:21Speaker 1: Jocasta was created in 1977 by Jim Shooter and George Perez,
- 5:27Speaker 1: Avengers 162. Like how Vision is his son, Ultron built
- 5:33Speaker 1: Jocasta to be his wife with the Wasp's brain patterns
- 5:38Speaker 1: serving as her template. You remember Ant-Man created Ultron in
- 5:41Speaker 1: the comics using his own brain patterns. Over the decades,
- 5:47Speaker 1: it's flipped from being a villain to an Avenger and
- 5:51Speaker 1: sometimes Alley of Iron Man, Jocasta. But we get our
- 5:55Speaker 1: first look at her. Wanda Maximoff spun an illusion so
- 5:59Speaker 1: convincing that some of it became real. Her witchy bubble
- 6:03Speaker 1: has a consequence.
- 6:06Speaker 3: It is my responsibility to keep us all safe. Vision,
- 6:09Speaker 3: what aren't you telling me? My son, this is a
- 6:13Speaker 3: fight I likely won't win. Vision Quest, streaming October 14th,
- 6:24Speaker 3: only on Disney +.
- 6:24Speaker 1: So Jocasta played by Tania Miller, Jocasta's MCU debut. How
- 6:33Speaker 1: does she exist in either the real world or in
- 6:35Speaker 1: Vision's own mind? We don't know. That's the big question. But,
- 6:41Speaker 1: you know, who she'd be based on when the MCU
- 6:44Speaker 1: Ultron is created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Where it fits in.
- 6:47Speaker 1: That's where it fits in. Seems that we have to
- 6:50Speaker 1: wait until October 14th to find out, because that's when
- 6:53Speaker 1: Vision Quest premieres. Let's see. Another thing. More Marvel stuff.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Guess what was number one at the box office this weekend?
- 7:04Speaker 1: The re-release? Yeah. Avengers Endgame Encore. But there's extra stuff, right?
- 7:10Speaker 1: There's extra footage at the end, but you can go
- 7:14Speaker 1: online and find a summation of it to get you ready.
- 7:18Speaker 1: It does tie directly into Doomsday. I mean, all the
- 7:22Speaker 1: stuff that I've seen anyway. But box office report shows
- 7:26Speaker 1: the re-release took top spot at the global box office
- 7:29Speaker 1: with $ 86 million. And with that extra take, Endgame's total
- 7:34Speaker 1: box office comes to $ 2. 885 billion, sitting comfortably between Avatar
- 7:41Speaker 1: and Spider-Man Brand New Day. $ 26 million domestic. Encore scored
- 7:47Speaker 1: the third best start for a reissue movie after Star
- 7:51Speaker 1: Wars Theatrical Return in 97. So, yeah, people wanted to
- 7:57Speaker 1: go see it on the big screen instead of watching
- 8:00Speaker 1: it on your Disney +. I don't know if I'll go.
- 8:07Speaker 1: And then the other big bit of news that we
- 8:09Speaker 1: got was more casting on The People vs. Gorilla Grodd.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Remind me what this is. This is Superman Adjacent.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:19Speaker 1: DC Studios' Jimmy Olsen spinoff series. It's a mockumentary. Okay.
- 8:26Speaker 1: But they've added Sarah Gilbert. Oh, there she is. Who's
- 8:29Speaker 1: going to play an important journalist. That's all we know.
- 8:33Speaker 1: It's going to be on HBO. It's unclear whether she's
- 8:36Speaker 1: playing an existing character in the DC universe or whether
- 8:39Speaker 1: her character is an original creation for the show. But
- 8:43Speaker 1: it makes sense that she's a journalist because The People vs.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Gorilla Grodd is styled as a true crime mockumentary hosted
- 8:51Speaker 1: by Jimmy Olsen, Skylar Gazzando. A super intelligent ape is
- 8:55Speaker 1: convicted of murdering his father, the king of Gorilla City,
- 8:59Speaker 1: in an eight-part true crime docuseries. Jimmy Olsen reopens the
- 9:04Speaker 1: case investigating whether Gorilla Grodd was wrongly convicted in one
- 9:08Speaker 1: of Metropolis' most famous murder trials. So we'll see when
- 9:17Speaker 1: that is released. He's a super intelligent gorilla who has
- 9:22Speaker 1: the ability to read your mind. I love it. Yes.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Gorilla City.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Gorilla City. I want to go to Gorilla City. No,
- 9:30Speaker 1: you don't.
- 9:30Speaker 3: I don't?
- 9:31Speaker 1: Trust me.
