- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, friends, You're about to hear our review of the
- 0:02Speaker 1: Groomsman trilogy of movies. As a reminder, these were originally
- 0:06Speaker 1: recorded in the fall of twenty twenty four when they
- 0:08Speaker 1: originally aired on Hallmark Plus, so keep that in mind
- 0:11Speaker 1: as you're listening and enjoy the review. This is a
- 0:18Speaker 1: bramble Jam podcast. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark
- 0:39Speaker 1: review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:41Speaker 1: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater. Today we're discussing
- 0:45Speaker 1: the Groomsman Second Chances, currently streaming on Hallmark Plus. When
- 0:50Speaker 1: you're not watching Hallmark hang out with us. You can
- 0:53Speaker 1: might it in a lot of places. We are on Instagram.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Girls Gone Hallmark is of course our Hallmark specific account.
- 0:59Speaker 1: We also have a great Facebook group. Come join us there.
- 1:03Speaker 1: It's Girls Gone Hallmark on Facebook. Lots of thoughts on
- 1:05Speaker 1: this series of movies. We'd love to hear yours. You
- 1:07Speaker 1: want to send them to us. Specifically, you can email
- 1:09Speaker 1: us your thoughts on these movies on the podcast. On
- 1:12Speaker 1: the things we get wrong, like it was not a
- 1:16Speaker 1: Philly cheese steak, it was, in fact a hogie. I
- 1:20Speaker 1: knew it wasn't a Philly cheese steak. I understand now
- 1:23Speaker 1: look like one the conversation they had apparently clarified it.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Oh okay, well I wasn't. I was too fixated on
- 1:31Speaker 1: the sandwich not being a Philly cheese steak and not
- 1:34Speaker 1: listening to the dialogue. You can email us and let
- 1:36Speaker 1: us know what you think. Girls Gone Hallmark at gmail
- 1:40Speaker 1: dot com. We're gonna talk to Groomsman Second Chances and
- 1:43Speaker 1: we're going to start with a synopsis. Okay, here's the synopsis.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Danny finds the courage to admit his romantic feelings for
- 1:49Speaker 1: his best friend when he is asked to be the
- 1:52Speaker 1: best man at his wedding in Greece. It is time
- 1:55Speaker 1: for news and notes. Ron Oliver does return as director,
- 1:58Speaker 1: and of course he directed all three movies in the
- 2:00Speaker 1: Groomsman trilogy. Yeah, this is a lot of repeat from
- 2:03Speaker 1: last ye week, right, Okay, So to remind you, Rick
- 2:06Speaker 1: Garman wrote the script for The Groomsman Second Chances. He
- 2:09Speaker 1: wrote the script for the Groomsman First Look as well.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Jonathan Bennett returns as Danny Johnny. Johnny Jonathan has eighty
- 2:18Speaker 1: acting credits and is currently one of the busiest Dudes
- 2:21Speaker 1: on Hallmark. He's starring in season's Greetings from Cherry Lane,
- 2:24Speaker 1: hosting Finding Mister Christmas on Hallmark, plus hosting both sailings
- 2:28Speaker 1: of the Hallmark Christmas Cruise, and he has three additional
- 2:31Speaker 1: projects coming up on IMDb. Are they Homemark projects? As
- 2:35Speaker 1: far as I can tell, do not believe them to
- 2:37Speaker 1: be based on the titles interesting. Tyler Hines and bj
- 2:43Speaker 1: Britt return to their roles as Jackson and Peter, respectively.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Heather Himmens also briefly appears as Chelsea Chloe. Raphael returns
- 2:53Speaker 1: as that Are Betty and Oliver Shaw makes a brief
- 2:57Speaker 1: appearance as young Milo. Alexander Lincoln Zach. Alexander has twenty
- 3:01Speaker 1: two acting credits, which include the Netflix series Geek Girl
- 3:04Speaker 1: and the TV series Doctors. The Groomsmen movies are his
- 3:08Speaker 1: first Hallmark projects. Sue Kelvin plays Ophelia Papadopolis. Sue is
- 3:16Speaker 1: a stage actress with eighteen acting credits, and this is
- 3:19Speaker 1: her first Hallmark project. Andreas Karris plays Constantinos. Andreas has
- 3:24Speaker 1: twenty four acting credits and appears to be Hallmark's go
- 3:26Speaker 1: to Greek dude, having appeared in Love's Greek to me
- 3:29Speaker 1: and the wedding veil journey. We're gonna take a quick
- 3:32Speaker 1: break and we'll come right back. We're back in its
- 3:41Speaker 1: time for first impressions, Wendy, what you got? The real
- 3:45Speaker 1: love story here is between me and the Greek salad.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Did you see that Greek salad had these huge pieces
- 3:52Speaker 1: of feti cheese in it? Oh? My god, I wanted
- 3:55Speaker 1: it so badly. I'm still dreaming about it. My first
- 3:58Speaker 1: impression is Homewark take not. This is how you do inclusivity,
- 4:01Speaker 1: not with secondary characters, but upfront, proudly, and with more
- 4:04Speaker 1: than one kiss in the movie. Totally co sign on
- 4:08Speaker 1: all of that. I have some thoughts. I cannot wait
- 4:11Speaker 1: to hear them. Shall we talk likes? Yeah? Overall, I
- 4:15Speaker 1: really enjoyed this movie. I thought I liked the first one.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I liked this one more. Y give me too. But to say,
- 4:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna insert complaint corner here in response to your
- 4:26Speaker 1: first impression, Yes, wholeheartedly agree that this is how you
- 4:31Speaker 1: do inclusivity. However, sticking with a sports analogy, why did
- 4:37Speaker 1: you punt it to Hallmark? Plus, I'm just not I'm
- 4:40Speaker 1: upset about it? Oh? Sure, I agree with you? Yeah,
- 4:43Speaker 1: put it on the main channel. What's happening here? If
- 4:46Speaker 1: Lacy Shubert is the face of Hallmark, I'm gonna say
- 4:49Speaker 1: Jonathan Bennett is probably equally a face of Hallmark, like
- 4:53Speaker 1: one of the big names for Hallmark. His face is
- 4:55Speaker 1: all over the Hallmark Plus ads, all over them. Yeah,
- 4:57Speaker 1: he's the host of the two Chris cruises, like the host. Yeah,
- 5:02Speaker 1: I know. So put a love story freeaturing him and
- 5:06Speaker 1: a same sex couple on the main channel. And hear you,
- 5:10Speaker 1: there is no representation on the main channel this year.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I know they're really relying on these three movies to
- 5:17Speaker 1: drive Homark Plus subscriptions. It kind of pisses me off,
- 5:21Speaker 1: to be honest. And you know, we are out of
- 5:24Speaker 1: seven ish movies in on the main channels, and we
- 5:27Speaker 1: are seeing some representation in supporting characters. And I know
- 5:31Speaker 1: that's gonna be I know we're gonna hear like, but yeah, louder,
- 5:37Speaker 1: make it louder. So I agree with you. I overall
- 5:41Speaker 1: really liked this movie, and I agreed when you said
- 5:44Speaker 1: you liked it more. I think I liked it differently.
- 5:46Speaker 1: So for me, we still get the strong friendship trio.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I think that's more the focus of First Look is
- 5:54Speaker 1: the dudes, and I feel like Pete and Chelsea's love
- 5:57Speaker 1: story they didn't get as much time to shine in
- 5:59Speaker 1: that movie. It takes a little bit of a back
- 6:02Speaker 1: seat to the bromance that we have happening. That's not
- 6:05Speaker 1: the case here. I think we still build on the
- 6:08Speaker 1: friendship of the dudes. It's still a strong through line,
- 6:11Speaker 1: but it doesn't overshadow the love story. We still had
- 6:14Speaker 1: a lot of fun moments between them. They made me
- 6:17Speaker 1: laugh a lot, some continue running bits, but we get
- 6:20Speaker 1: a chance for the Zach and Danny love story to
- 6:22Speaker 1: really shine. We do, and I was really drawn in
- 6:26Speaker 1: by the Danny and Zach journey seeing them take this
- 6:32Speaker 1: like literal plunge into the ocean. Don't jump, don't jump
- 6:36Speaker 1: like all that like running. I thought that was a
- 6:40Speaker 1: very powerful moment and really one that says, like sees
- 6:45Speaker 1: the moment like here we are, let's do this. I
- 6:49Speaker 1: like the messaging there. I thought there were so many
- 6:52Speaker 1: great things about that. The moment where they almost jump
- 6:56Speaker 1: earlier in the movie, where Zach is still engaged to
- 6:59Speaker 1: Nolan and Jonathan has his hand out and it looks
- 7:02Speaker 1: like Zach's gonna grab his hand and he kind of
- 7:04Speaker 1: just pats him on the arm and the moment ends.
- 7:06Speaker 1: It's it's such an unfinished moment, Like I feel the
- 7:11Speaker 1: let down in the way that it's staged and the
- 7:14Speaker 1: fact that we come full circle on that later. Yeah,
- 7:18Speaker 1: it's so great. It was great, also great. I love
- 7:22Speaker 1: the vows between Danny and Zach. Honestly, in my opinion,
- 7:27Speaker 1: it was Jonathan Bennett's like best work. He says like,
- 7:33Speaker 1: I didn't write any vows because I've known what to
- 7:36Speaker 1: say for whatever the timeframe is. I was like, that
- 7:40Speaker 1: is so lovely. I just really loved it. And and
- 7:44Speaker 1: you talked about kisses? Did you talk about kissing it? Did?
- 7:47Speaker 1: There were some fire kisses and a lot of them
- 7:50Speaker 1: in this movie. The way that I threw my hands
- 7:54Speaker 1: in the air and waved them like I just didn't
- 7:56Speaker 1: care when they kissed. I was so happy to see
- 8:02Speaker 1: it on my screen, but then reminded, oh, it's on Hallmark.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Plus so many great iconic rom com moments in this movie.
- 8:10Speaker 1: They're confronting each other after they're almost kiss after Nolan
- 8:14Speaker 1: shows up and interrupts it, and the next morning, Danny's like,
- 8:18Speaker 1: we need to talk about this, and Zach's like, you
- 8:20Speaker 1: can't walk away from love because of an almost and
- 8:23Speaker 1: that's so great. The other line I love is when
- 8:27Speaker 1: Jonathan is discussing how his relationship ended. Zach is asking him,
- 8:31Speaker 1: like what happened, and he's like, you know all those
- 8:34Speaker 1: like it wasn't one big thing. It's like all those
- 8:36Speaker 1: little things. You're like, I can just put that on
- 8:37Speaker 1: the shelf, and the shelf eventually got too heavy. I
- 8:40Speaker 1: think it's such a great way to describe, like the
- 8:43Speaker 1: death by a thousand paper cuts end of our relationship. Yeah, totally,
- 8:47Speaker 1: And that's a shout out to the writer there, I
- 8:50Speaker 1: think conveying what your viewers have likely dealt with in
- 8:55Speaker 1: the past. It was such a like a I mean,
- 8:58Speaker 1: it was simply words, but it created such a great
- 9:01Speaker 1: visual like, oh yeah, I'm familiar with that feeling, right.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Can we talk a little bit more about Jonathan Bennett. Yeah,
- 9:07Speaker 1: he's so good And look, I know last week I'm
- 9:09Speaker 1: like more than just Jonathan Bennett. Doesn't mean I don't
- 9:12Speaker 1: want lots of Jonathan Bennett. Let me let me tell
- 9:14Speaker 1: you all the great thing about Jonathan Bennet. First of all,
- 9:16Speaker 1: his smile. He finally kisses. Zach is so good. His
- 9:20Speaker 1: realization face that he gets when he realized was like, Oh,
- 9:24Speaker 1: I'm look, I'm into this dude. Like that is amazing.
- 9:28Speaker 1: He's still his fun self throughout this role, but his
- 9:31Speaker 1: affection for Zach and the heartbreak that he feels when
- 9:34Speaker 1: things fall apart, and as you mentioned, his vows are
- 9:38Speaker 1: all so sincere. Yeah. Yeah, it doesn't like he gives
- 9:44Speaker 1: equal weight to the fun and silly and the sincere
- 9:47Speaker 1: and loving parts of his personality. I think there was
- 9:50Speaker 1: less silly in this one compared to the first one,
- 9:52Speaker 1: much I liked because I didn't really I don't like hijinks,
- 9:55Speaker 1: so I appreciated the more tender moments, the more emotional
- 10:00Speaker 1: moments from Jonathan Bennett in this movie. I don't think
- 10:04Speaker 1: I've ever seen a movie with him where he really
- 10:06Speaker 1: has to like get in touch with those kind of feelings,
- 10:10Speaker 1: like he hasn't been given the playground to play in
- 10:13Speaker 1: that sort of range. Yeah. I like the timing of
- 10:16Speaker 1: this movie, and I like that we rewind. I love that.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I loved that, and it makes a lot of sense
- 10:22Speaker 1: because there was a lot of Zach and Danny conversation
- 10:25Speaker 1: throughout the first movie. It made sense to do it
- 10:28Speaker 1: this way. And there's one great shot where they're at
- 10:30Speaker 1: Hannah's wedding and then we see the shot of Pete
- 10:32Speaker 1: and Chelsea dancing through the doorway and it just centers
- 10:35Speaker 1: us in times so well, and they do it without
- 10:38Speaker 1: feeling repetitive. Yeah. I like how they did that. I'm
- 10:43Speaker 1: curious to see how that plays in to the third movie.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I suspect the third movie does not overlap
- 10:53Speaker 1: in time. I think it's going to a little bit.
- 10:56Speaker 1: You do, because the makeup artist that Jackson sends to
- 11:01Speaker 1: Pete yes prior to their video call, is the woman
- 11:06Speaker 1: that Tyler Hines's character is involved in. So I think
- 11:10Speaker 1: there's going to be sued. I see there. But then
- 11:14Speaker 1: they're all going to Italy to take Betty to meet
- 11:16Speaker 1: her mom and all of that, which I have art
- 11:19Speaker 1: I have complicated feelings about, like why does she get
- 11:23Speaker 1: to decide that for Betty? I don't know. She clearly
- 11:28Speaker 1: has a relationship with her dad and the mom just
- 11:30Speaker 1: gets to say you have to move here. Yeah, I
- 11:32Speaker 1: think we're assuming what's going to happen in the next movie.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I don't know, We don't know, We don't but it
- 11:38Speaker 1: bothers me preemptively because I'm like, this isn't a weekend ad.
- 11:43Speaker 1: He's clearly very involved in his daughter's life, So why
- 11:48Speaker 1: is she being allowed to make the unilateral decision to
- 11:51Speaker 1: move their daughter to Italy? Because look, if we both
- 11:53Speaker 1: lived here in Chicago, there's no judge who's going to
- 11:59Speaker 1: allow that to happen When you've got two in Chicago.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Aren't they in Chicago? Philly? Okay, that's right, the Phillies
- 12:06Speaker 1: Jonathan's wardrobe of Phillies. We live the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 1: thank you, we're here in Philly. I'm just saying, there's
- 12:14Speaker 1: no judge. It's gonna be like, yeah, man, take her
- 12:16Speaker 1: away from a perfectly involved parent. If you want to move, fine,
- 12:20Speaker 1: but then you get visitation. You don't get primary custody.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Unless Tyler's like a girl needs her mom, she can go.
- 12:26Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know. We'll see, we'll talk
- 12:28Speaker 1: about it next time. We'll see. Any more likes, Yeah,
- 12:32Speaker 1: I have a few more. You mentioned the friendship, the
- 12:35Speaker 1: bromance between the guys here. I think it's super refreshing
- 12:39Speaker 1: to see like three dudes really kind of like open
- 12:44Speaker 1: their heart and share things, be vulnerable, because in contrast,
- 12:49Speaker 1: I think a lot of the entertainment that we consume
- 12:52Speaker 1: is just like toxic masculinity. And of course I watched
- 12:56Speaker 1: this movie after I watched the finale of The Chickens
- 12:59Speaker 1: sys Here's whoa that was in full bloom there, and
- 13:04Speaker 1: so it feels really nice and I just wish that
- 13:08Speaker 1: I wish that we saw more of that. I think
- 13:11Speaker 1: that for someone like my husband, Right, it's not like
- 13:14Speaker 1: a road map, but it's to show that like, hey,
- 13:17Speaker 1: this let's normalize. Yeah, this can be entertaining too, Like
- 13:21Speaker 1: we don't need to make the men the villain all
- 13:23Speaker 1: the time. And I'm just saying, like we need to
- 13:25Speaker 1: oh poor men, That's not what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah,
- 13:28Speaker 1: but yeah, it's great to see these dudes show up
- 13:30Speaker 1: for each other. That's scene where they roll into grease
- 13:33Speaker 1: and they're like, hope you got a good calling plan,
- 13:34Speaker 1: And I was like, yeah, the plane tickets weren't cheap either.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Like that's such a great moment that would not even
- 13:39Speaker 1: be remarkable if it were girls. Right, Like that happens
- 13:42Speaker 1: in the wedding Veil. Those girls show for each other
- 13:43Speaker 1: all the time, right, But when it happens for dudes,
- 13:46Speaker 1: you're like, yes, let's do this, let's show like it's
- 13:49Speaker 1: cool for men to show up for other men. Yeah
- 13:54Speaker 1: and and yeah, yes I agree. Hey, can we talk
- 13:59Speaker 1: about Alexander Lincoln as Zach. It's a real snack. I
- 14:07Speaker 1: I love his like dry charming humor and it plays
- 14:10Speaker 1: off Jonathan Bennett's. I hope he continues on Hallmark. I
- 14:15Speaker 1: doubt he will, just because like there's not usually a
- 14:18Speaker 1: huge opportunity for like English actors unless we got Will
- 14:23Speaker 1: Kemp with an American accent. True, Hey, if Alexander Lincoln
- 14:26Speaker 1: can do an American accent, well, so he could have
- 14:29Speaker 1: a British accent. Sometimes people just have accent. I agree.
- 14:32Speaker 1: I absolutely agree with that. But like think of all
- 14:35Speaker 1: the movies, Like, I know, we got a bunch of
- 14:37Speaker 1: English actors in a movie this year because they did
- 14:39Speaker 1: all that Jane Os and stuff earlier this year. So
- 14:42Speaker 1: I just don't maybe like Tom Holland has a British
- 14:46Speaker 1: accent do play Spider Man? Yeah, no, I get it,
- 14:49Speaker 1: I get it. I would like to see more, you know,
- 14:52Speaker 1: I think to your point about Alexander Lincoln, they had
- 14:55Speaker 1: an opportunity to make him really one note here, and
- 14:57Speaker 1: he's not much like Jonathan Bennett Wacy. They allow him
- 15:01Speaker 1: to have a personality beyond just his job and his role.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Correct me if I if I'm wrong here, But I
- 15:08Speaker 1: believe your favorite movie is My best Friend's Wedding. I
- 15:11Speaker 1: could quote the entire thing. Want to watch it with me?
- 15:13Speaker 1: You don't, I promise that's funny to me. This movie
- 15:20Speaker 1: was like my best friend's wedding. You know. You sent
- 15:22Speaker 1: that text to me and I was like, like a hundred,
- 15:25Speaker 1: but did you not see it? Well? I think the
- 15:28Speaker 1: difference is in my best Friend's Wedding, there's no rooting
- 15:31Speaker 1: for Julia Roberts's character. She's the absolute villain worse. Yeah,
- 15:36Speaker 1: And so I think they took that trope and they
- 15:39Speaker 1: made Danny's character like, look, I'm in love with you.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I'm realizing that now. I would really love for you
- 15:46Speaker 1: to choose me, but I'm not gonna have the pick me,
- 15:48Speaker 1: choose me love moment. I'm not going to try and
- 15:52Speaker 1: sabotage your relationship by putting your fiance in these horrifying situations.
- 15:57Speaker 1: A little bit, though he didn't make him sing carry
- 15:59Speaker 1: up the rock climbing. Yes, that's true, that's true. But
- 16:03Speaker 1: then that's where the dudes come in and we get
- 16:07Speaker 1: what we should have had as the George character finally
- 16:12Speaker 1: comes in and like pulls Julia Jules's character a little
- 16:15Speaker 1: bit in line. The dude step in a little bit earlier,
- 16:17Speaker 1: and I think P. J. Britt's character is like, yo, bro,
- 16:21Speaker 1: you can't this is cruel. Some men talk to each
- 16:27Speaker 1: other in my head. He gives him like this is
- 16:30Speaker 1: not really cool, Like what are you doing here? So
- 16:33Speaker 1: they shut that down a little bit earlier. I like
- 16:35Speaker 1: that they did that, and they're like, you either need
- 16:37Speaker 1: to be here for him or not. Two more things grease, Hello,
- 16:42Speaker 1: I want to go. Everything from food to the architecture
- 16:46Speaker 1: is beautiful. I'm so glad that they like shot on location.
- 16:50Speaker 1: There stunning. I want to go. Don't you want to go?
- 16:54Speaker 1: I want to go. I was actually just thinking, I'm like,
- 16:56Speaker 1: maybe if you like this, cruise will get you on
- 16:57Speaker 1: a Greek gyles cruise. I'm into it. Okay, I'm into it.
- 17:01Speaker 1: The last thing, I do love the through line of
- 17:04Speaker 1: the Runaway Bride telling the story. Yeah, it does bring
- 17:08Speaker 1: a lot of intrigue. Sure, so I have some notes
- 17:13Speaker 1: and my digit see that we do specifically about that.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Now we can move on to wishes. Gosh, all right,
- 17:19Speaker 1: I have a question. Yeah, it's a throwaway line. Oh,
- 17:22Speaker 1: that's why Pete moved Bulgaria part time? What the heck
- 17:24Speaker 1: does that mean he didn't move to Bulgaria if he's
- 17:26Speaker 1: there part time? What are you talking about? Is he
- 17:29Speaker 1: working in Bulgaria? They just they throw it away and
- 17:31Speaker 1: they're like, oh, Pete MULTIPLEGARYO part time? What I just wrote?
- 17:36Speaker 1: Wtf does that mean? In my notes? How do you
- 17:38Speaker 1: be a part time doctor? I know these are good
- 17:41Speaker 1: questions and ones that are not relevant to the storyline.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Not at all, Not at all. Oh, there are far
- 17:47Speaker 1: too many baseball references in this in this movie. Megan
- 17:50Speaker 1: even texts me She's like, what is Jonathan Bennet's job?
- 17:53Speaker 1: And see like a batting coach? It seems like it
- 17:56Speaker 1: with a number of how much time he spends in
- 17:57Speaker 1: a batting cage. Yes, however, I was listening to our
- 18:00Speaker 1: friends at deck the homework this morning. Yeah, and somebody
- 18:03Speaker 1: clarified that he is a former pitcher. Well I knew
- 18:08Speaker 1: he used to play. They make a comment like, why
- 18:10Speaker 1: is the pitcher, the batting coach. Now wouldn't he need
- 18:13Speaker 1: a pitching coach if he was a former best If
- 18:16Speaker 1: he's a National league player, he probably had to bat too.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Maybe maybe he's the shohe Otani of the Fake Phillies.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Perhaps if I can mention something here, it's your podcast.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I know a former baseball major league baseball player. You do, Yeah,
- 18:33Speaker 1: you know. I'm not questioning you. I'm like, I've never
- 18:35Speaker 1: once heard this man make a baseball reference in my
- 18:38Speaker 1: entire life. Interesting, and so to hear like Jonathan Bennett's
- 18:43Speaker 1: character be like and the crowd goes wild, I'm like, Nope,
- 18:47Speaker 1: that's never gonna happen. Yeah, I hear what you're saying,
- 18:50Speaker 1: never gonna happen. It would be like us. I was
- 18:53Speaker 1: just trying to figure out what the equivalent is for
- 18:55Speaker 1: you and I I don't know, talking about podcasting. I don't.
- 18:59Speaker 1: It's like my husband, I'm talking about counting. He doesn't
- 19:01Speaker 1: do that. It just doesn't happen. It's true, it's not
- 19:05Speaker 1: your whole personality. I hear you, I hear you. So
- 19:08Speaker 1: for me, the baseball analogies in this movie were too much.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I think they lean too art into it. Hey, I
- 19:15Speaker 1: feel like I should take issue with Zach and Nolan's
- 19:18Speaker 1: breakup and the fact that, like Jonathan Bennett is actively
- 19:22Speaker 1: in love with Zach. But here's why I don't. One,
- 19:26Speaker 1: Nolan's the worst and he never attempts to not be terrible,
- 19:29Speaker 1: like I'll be there for our wedding, and then there's
- 19:33Speaker 1: he does every single time his job. I understand, but
- 19:37Speaker 1: at some point and you be like, yo, this is
- 19:39Speaker 1: my wedding, this is our wedding. I just mean too,
- 19:42Speaker 1: like your business. Yeah, at some point everyone is replaceable.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I don't actually think Zach has done anything wrong. Like
- 19:50Speaker 1: he's not dating Danny, he's not falling for Danny, Like
- 19:56Speaker 1: he still seems to be pretty committed to making his
- 19:58Speaker 1: relationship with Nolan work. Oh look, I'm allowed to be
- 20:00Speaker 1: a hypocrite. But the proposal, is the proposal still on
- 20:05Speaker 1: the table is perhaps the absolute worst way to start
- 20:08Speaker 1: an engagement. Nolan called and said, is the proposal still
- 20:11Speaker 1: on the table, like it's a business deal. Yeah nope,
- 20:15Speaker 1: I'd be like, sorry, yeah, you don't want to be
- 20:18Speaker 1: second choice? No, no, you don't. If you had to
- 20:21Speaker 1: think about it, I'm sorry. Yeah, Now, let me ask
- 20:25Speaker 1: you this because I know in previous movie reviews you
- 20:28Speaker 1: really hate if like a man and a woman were
- 20:33Speaker 1: growing closer together. Yeah, that's my whole point here. Yeah yeah, okay,
- 20:37Speaker 1: all right, so you're not bothered by it though in
- 20:39Speaker 1: this movie. No, for the reasons that I stated, and
- 20:42Speaker 1: also because sometimes I get to be a hypocrite. But okay,
- 20:44Speaker 1: but no one sucks. Okay, I don't disagree with you.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Let's hear some wishes from you that I gave you
- 20:50Speaker 1: too many baseballs. Too many baseballs. That's it? Got it?
- 20:53Speaker 1: You ready for? Did you see that? I am? Okay.
- 20:56Speaker 1: The opening scene where they have the dudes standing outside
- 20:59Speaker 1: the bar talking to the bar owner, that's not the dude.
- 21:03Speaker 1: That is not our guys. I was like, come on,
- 21:06Speaker 1: the voiceover so bad, terrible, clearly not our actors. I
- 21:11Speaker 1: was wondering here though, Yeah, are these like future dudes? Yeah?
- 21:16Speaker 1: Like are these supposed to be like our guys in
- 21:19Speaker 1: current time? I know, But it's their voices. That's the
- 21:23Speaker 1: part that's confusing to me. Like it's definitely at least
- 21:27Speaker 1: a couple of their voices I think. Hmm. I was
- 21:30Speaker 1: just like so shocked. I was like, that is not
- 21:32Speaker 1: the back of their it is not the back of
- 21:33Speaker 1: their heads. Well yeah, Also, did you watch this movie
- 21:38Speaker 1: with close captioning? Of course always on Homark Plus. At
- 21:42Speaker 1: one point, the runaway bright is speaking and it captures her.
- 21:45Speaker 1: It says like Elizabeth Colin and her lines, and I
- 21:47Speaker 1: was like, Betty is sure for realism? Oh it is Betty.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I feel pretty strongly that it is. But look, I've
- 21:55Speaker 1: been wrong before about many things. That is so funny.
- 21:58Speaker 1: So I did miss mess, said Ryan M. Murphy, who
- 22:01Speaker 1: is a producer on this movie. And I was like,
- 22:04Speaker 1: because he had posted a picture of like the Runaway Bride,
- 22:07Speaker 1: and I was like, is this supposed to be Betty?
- 22:08Speaker 1: And his response was the emoji guy with his hands
- 22:11Speaker 1: in nas shrugging emoji. Yeah, yeah, if that's Betty, let's
- 22:16Speaker 1: talk this through here. If this is Betty, she looks
- 22:19Speaker 1: nothing like the young actress who plays Betty. Her eyes
- 22:23Speaker 1: are so blue, They're like your eyes. They're like piercing
- 22:28Speaker 1: light blue eyes. Right, I hadn't clocked her eyes. I
- 22:31Speaker 1: don't think young Betty's eyes look like that. They have
- 22:34Speaker 1: different hair. Their hair is completely different, and they just
- 22:37Speaker 1: look totally different. Now, look, did I look totally different
- 22:40Speaker 1: from my fourteen year old self, as I do now,
- 22:44Speaker 1: he sort of. So. Look, I got married when I
- 22:48Speaker 1: was twenty five, and I look like I'm about fourteen
- 22:50Speaker 1: years old. Like people saw out my wedding photos who
- 22:52Speaker 1: didn't know me when I got married, and they're like, oh,
- 22:53Speaker 1: look it's your husband and his child bride. Like I
- 22:56Speaker 1: looked until I turned thirty, I looked very young. Oh interesting,
- 23:00Speaker 1: Now I look my age. I have one final did
- 23:03Speaker 1: you see that? Okay, so little? But the weights in
- 23:06Speaker 1: the jam are measured in kilograms? Did you notice? I
- 23:09Speaker 1: did not notice, but it was clocked on D so I,
- 23:12Speaker 1: oh was it? Yeah? I just assume it's a sign
- 23:15Speaker 1: of the fact that they were filming this in Europe
- 23:18Speaker 1: and so they were using a European gym. That's funny.
- 23:21Speaker 1: That is funny. Though I'd be like, I don't know,
- 23:25Speaker 1: I can you do that? Like all the time I
- 23:27Speaker 1: spend in a gym, I have absolutely no idea. How
- 23:31Speaker 1: Oh you're saying like you don't know the conversion. Yeah,
- 23:33Speaker 1: I don't know, but I may. I guess you can
- 23:35Speaker 1: tell by the weight, Like you're like, is it too heavy?
- 23:38Speaker 1: Is it a five pounder? Or is it a fifty
- 23:41Speaker 1: pounder and I can't tell. Also Google exists, Yeah, this
- 23:44Speaker 1: is true. I one of my big did you see
- 23:47Speaker 1: that is Danny's sister is not at his own wedding?
- 23:51Speaker 1: Well she's no will she should be there? No? I know,
- 23:55Speaker 1: but she is not there? Isn't she also not one
- 23:58Speaker 1: of the bridesmaids in Chelsea's wedding? Yeah? Weird. Not more
- 24:02Speaker 1: weird than not being at your brother's wedding. You know,
- 24:05Speaker 1: they didn't have the budget to fly de Grease apparently apparently,
- 24:08Speaker 1: so they're like, you get Bulgaria, that's it, not grease.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Maybe that's why we have those weird three body doubles. No,
- 24:16Speaker 1: because our guys would have been in grease. I don't know.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Maybe they shot that something. Maybe they had that idea
- 24:21Speaker 1: later and they weren't there. Yeah, I don't know. It
- 24:24Speaker 1: was weird though, I only have one more. Did just
- 24:26Speaker 1: see that? And yeah? It's back to the food. Okay,
- 24:29Speaker 1: food is constantly running through my mind. They sat down.
- 24:31Speaker 1: I think they're doing like a taste testing maybe uh huh.
- 24:36Speaker 1: It was like all this Greek food. I just wanted
- 24:38Speaker 1: to eat it. All the food did look good. Zach's Okay,
- 24:42Speaker 1: this is always like a how do you how do
- 24:44Speaker 1: you pronounce g y r yuo? Zero? Me too, same?
- 24:51Speaker 1: Zach pronounced it gyro gyro, which it was. I thought
- 24:55Speaker 1: it was funny. I thought like maybe like the Greek
- 24:57Speaker 1: lady would have like, yeah, correct, I mean because he
- 25:01Speaker 1: did correct somebody about bootoneers uh huh, but yeah, I
- 25:06Speaker 1: was like, no, it's not gyro. I love a EARO. Okay,
- 25:10Speaker 1: I'm hungry. You don't tell. What did you rate this movie?
- 25:12Speaker 1: I keep four and a half stars, four point two
- 25:14Speaker 1: five stars. I thought it was great. I thought it
- 25:16Speaker 1: was good. Hey, thank you for listening to this episode
