- 2:29day. Yeah, just bringing the news.
- 2:33About the sad passing of. Ozzy Osbourne I'm pretty
- 2:36devastated. I have some personal.
- 2:39Experiences to share about my time meeting Ozzy and
- 2:43interviewing him. The highlight of my entire.
- 2:46Career as a journalist. And just as a.
- 2:49Fan of heavy metal and. Yeah, this is.
- 2:54You know. Wildly unexpected there we.
- 2:59Go. That's a little better angle.
- 3:04Man element tattoo. Welcome, welcome.

- 3:25favorite Aussie songs, Black Sabbath songs, Aussie songs,
- 3:28Aussie moments. Just really.
- 3:35In shock, I mean again. We're going to lose all our
- 3:38heroes. This is the the.
- 3:41This is what it is. I I often talk about remembering
- 3:44one of my. Childhood memories as my mom.
- 3:46Spending a lot of time in the kitchen, it was like her hanging
- 3:48out spot. Where she had.
- 3:50Like the sort of Control Center for the whole.
- 3:52House. And.
- 3:55I remember her listening to. Her daily.
- 3:58Radio show and when somebody. Was announced that they passed.
- 4:01That she cared for. You know should be overcome.
- 4:06And a lot of people were sharing their grief.
- 4:08Obviously, this is just devastating.
- 4:09This is just. Devastating for Heavy.
- 4:11Metal Ozzy is, you know. An icon.
- 4:14An icon of. Music An icon of pop.
- 4:16Culture. And.
- 4:17Transcended rock and metal and. A lot of.
- 4:22People know who he. Is that would not.
- 4:24Work otherwise. Listen to our music.
- 4:27But I'm, you know, metal. Is like a a.
- 4:29Will take you in any. Condition at any time and.
- 4:33Yeah, this is a hard. One shout out to my partner,
- 4:36Omar. At Ghost Cult here, who put up
- 4:39the story first? This morning and I'm already
- 4:44dealing with some personal. Stuff I'm going to be.
- 4:46OK, but you know just. Trials and tribulations of life,
- 4:50thanks for being. Here, everybody, whoever.
- 4:52Is watching on TikTok. The best experience for this?
- 4:55Is always Facebook, YouTube, Twitch.
- 4:59And Instagram, but we're also. Hanging out on the tic so feel
- 5:03free to. Drop your comments here and.
- 5:06I'll try to answer them as best I.
- 5:08Can come get a tattoo with the king of.
- 5:11Darkness, you know, Maybe. Maybe just greeting some folks
- 5:19who are passing through. Thank you.
- 5:23We'll I made this. Little deck for the show.
- 5:29With this picture. Of Ozzy at Oz Fest.
- 5:31In 2017 I saw. Three of the final Ozzy.
- 5:36Tours and Ghost Cult covered like 3 of the last four Ozzy.
- 5:44Tour like festivals and tours. Piercing metal is here, my good
- 5:47friend. Ken, how are you, Sir?
- 5:48We just did a round. Table of our guests from.
- 5:51Across metal journalism. And A and a music.
- 5:54Artist to talk about the back to the.
- 5:56Beginning good, bad and different.
- 5:57Mostly good, you know. I am, yeah.
- 6:03I'm. I'm definitely dealing with my
- 6:05grief. I had a little.
- 6:06Cry earlier. We've got there's been tributes
- 6:10coming out. About Ozzy from Everybody I.
- 6:16Might read some, you know some. People just shared a photo.
- 6:19Others shared their memories and.
- 6:23I'm. Grateful at a time like.
- 6:25This. We all have each other at least.
- 6:29But yeah, it's tough. I think the best one I read.
- 6:34Obviously from, you know, this family put out a statement on
- 6:38Ozzy's channels and. Also Ozzy's publicist.
- 6:47Long time publicist Marcy Rondon of Schneider, Rondon Publicity.
- 6:52As long as a. Ghost Cult has been around.
- 6:54They've been his. Publicist, and probably long
- 6:56before. That and they used to do the.
- 6:58Pussy. Called the Oz Fest and Ozzy
- 7:00events and things. I think the best.
- 7:05One that I read. So far, obviously, Iommi wrote.
- 7:10Right as the news. Was breaking.
- 7:11I can't believe it. My dear friend Ozzy has passed.
- 7:14Away only two weeks after our show with Billa Hart Billa Park.
- 7:17It's such a heartbreaking. News that I can't really find.
- 7:19The words that won't even. Be another liking.
- 7:21Geezer Bill and myself. Have lost our brother.
- 7:24My thoughts go out to. Sharon.
- 7:26And all the Osbourne family. Rest in peace with some nice
- 7:28photos of them. Geezer posted a nice thing, I
- 7:31don't know if. Bill has posted yet?
- 7:32He probably has I. Mean you know it's.
- 7:35Got to be a shock. The timing of this?
- 7:37Is a shock. And we had, I don't like giving
- 7:40in the rumors and we don't do a lot of.
- 7:41Rumors here at Ghost. Cult we try to keep it grounded
- 7:44in reality for everybody that follows us and.
- 7:49You know lungs are. Feeling thinking of an Aussie
- 7:53tattoo. Nice.
- 7:54Hey and thank you such. A sad day indeed, Dustin.
- 7:58Sullivan and Eddie O have. Joint and Gee, so you know,
- 8:04just. Trying to get our brains.
- 8:07Around this like how did you know how did this?
- 8:09Happen so quickly. We had been hearing.
- 8:12From a very credible source in the spring.
- 8:15That he was in bad shape physically and there was some
- 8:18doubt that. He could even make it to the
- 8:20concert. But obviously he did.
- 8:22Everybody saw it. Around the world.
- 8:23And it was, you know, quite. The spectacle.
- 8:31I watched it that. Entire day with my girlfriend
- 8:33and. We continued to like watch.
- 8:36Clips of it all week and all. Weekend.
- 8:38Then we did our. Reviews here and our.
- 8:40Recaps and our round. Tables, yeah.
- 8:44Debbie Easterwood says I felt, I felt after the live show, he can
- 8:48go happy. He did.
- 8:49That was his. Dream, Ken.
- 8:51Also said this to me offline. Earlier that was like his last
- 8:55wish was to go out. And hear the crowd and.
- 8:58And perform. And he did.
- 8:59He definitely. Did he lived hard?
- 9:01He lived his life. At 100.
- 9:03Better than most people until he couldn't anymore.
- 9:06And I'm glad that he's not suffering.
- 9:08You know it's a a. Heartache and A and a hardship
- 9:11for your family to. Watch you, you know.
- 9:15Come apart. Basically as a human being.
- 9:17So it's really. Hard, but yeah, Ozzie, man.
- 9:22What a what a loss. And.
- 9:24Again, I definitely didn't think it would be so soon after.
- 9:27This farewell show. Just some minutiae out of the
- 9:32way, tomorrow night the Glacially Musical podcast.
- 9:35Which is my other podcast. We'll be doing a do some program
- 9:38routes. We'll be doing a live stream,
- 9:40also memorial for Ozzy and. Sabbath and talking about all
- 9:44our favorite. Things and breaking it down as
- 9:46our podcast likes to do. And I'll be back on Thursday
- 9:52with my weekly Rocket Metal. News show that you.
- 9:55Guys are all. Accustomed to seeing here.
- 9:57Was doing the thumbnail. Earlier, so we'll be back on.
- 10:01Thursday for sure. Maybe I'll.
- 10:03Sneak in one more. Live stream tomorrow.
- 10:05I had a bunch of live stream topics.
- 10:07But obviously this. Is going to dominate the news.
- 10:08For a while. The Death of.
- 10:11You know, just again, I know the word legend and icon are thrown
- 10:14around. Quite a bit, but.
- 10:16There's no question. That this applies to Ozzie.
- 10:21For all the various. Reasons and I think.
- 10:23We'll go in reverse order. You know.
- 10:25Obviously got his start with Black.
- 10:26Sabbath in 1960. 8 The band invented heavy.
- 10:30Metal, they have a lasting legacy that can't be fucked.
- 10:33With, I was strictly Ozzy. Huge Ozzy fan as a little kid
- 10:38and I often talk about. Hearing that.
- 10:40First base note of War Pigs. Is like a three or four year old
- 10:44just changing my whole life. You know, I don't.
- 10:49I understand that people. Prefer.
- 10:51Dio and he was a. Better technical singer than
- 10:53Ozzy, but Ozzy. Is responsible for so many
- 10:56things in the heavy metal. Medium just you know whether.
- 11:00He wrote the words or sang better or not, it doesn't
- 11:03matter. He was there at the.
- 11:04Beginning Black Sabbath wanted to.
- 11:06Scare people with their music. And they absolutely did.
- 11:08And that. Included Ozzy's voice and.
- 11:11You know, whatever you want to say about Ozzy not.
- 11:13Being a great musician, he sure had a great.
- 11:15Year for melody and he sure sang memorable songs that last
- 11:21forever. Mark Badger's here.
- 11:22Hey. Mark this one bleep.
- 11:23And hurts bro right here. Man, I'm so hurt it.
- 11:29Hurts a lot. I knew this was coming.
- 11:31We just did a. Show a live stream about a month
- 11:34ago about the worst. Depths in rock and metal.
- 11:37And at that time, you know, I said kind of dime bag and Lemmy
- 11:40or 1A and one. B for me and Ozzy is right
- 11:42there. This is probably going to be the
- 11:43hardest. One ever I.
- 11:45Just. You know, I, I don't think it,
- 11:48they didn't owe it to. Anybody to say he's really been
- 11:50off, but you could see. He was in pain and struggling
- 11:53and and even. Geezer was like I looked over to
- 11:56his eyes and I. Saw that like there was.
- 11:58More in him he wanted. To do more, he.
- 12:01Wanted to stand up. He wanted to jump around.
- 12:03And you just felt bad for him because you could tell his body
- 12:06would not. Cooperate you.
- 12:09Cried all day about Ozzy. Jessica, Nicole, I hear you.
- 12:12It's really. Hard, and I'm here for all of
- 12:14you. We're all going to get through
- 12:15this. We're going to.
- 12:16Grieve, you know we. Because of the social.
- 12:18Media error. We grieve publicly, right?
- 12:21So that's. Kind of the thing.
- 12:22We all grieve together now. Which is weird but also good.
- 12:26Because you can reach out to people.
- 12:28Around the world, thanks for. Following Jessica, I will follow
- 12:31you back when. We get off the stream.
- 12:32I follow. Everybody back that follows.
- 12:34Goes cold, so I'm very grateful. If you've got a legit profile.
- 12:37And you're just kind. Of a faceless nobody.
- 12:39Or if you were, you know, horrible, then I don't follow
- 12:42you. But most people are decent.
- 12:43And good. And metal.
- 12:44Heads, as I often say, you. Got to want to be.
- 12:46Here, nobody is a casual fan of this music.
- 12:51So, you know, we'll take it, like they say, back to the
- 12:53beginning. And of course, Ozzy here, seen
- 12:56at Oz. Fest, like I said.
- 12:57We covered Oz Fest meets. Not Fest.
- 13:00We covered Chicago open. Air was one of the last times I
- 13:04saw. Ozzy, we covered the new.
- 13:06Year's Eve Oz Fest in 20. 18 before Ozzy's health.
- 13:09Took another turn for the worse. Shout out to men loyal.
- 13:12Who? Covered that for us.
- 13:15And you know, we have Ozzy. The music and we have.
- 13:19Ozzy the person. Thank you.
- 13:22I don't know if I can listen to Mama.
- 13:24I'm coming home, you know, Jessica, even.
- 13:26Though that song is actually about.
- 13:28Sharon and Ozzy's guilt. About being.
- 13:31You know, hurtful to Sharon. That was always a very special.
- 13:35Song for me, my mother. Loved that song she thought it
- 13:37was. Beautiful.
- 13:38I love that. Song My mother's passing is
- 13:40still. Very hard for me.
- 13:41After, you know, 20. Jeez.
- 13:44Almost 30 years ago and it still hurts a lot.
- 13:47So you know it was only. Recently.
- 13:53Could I even hear that? Song or sing?
- 13:56It usually I host karaoke. On the weekends.
- 13:59I couldn't even sing it. Without crying.
- 14:01Just finally. Recently got through it enough
- 14:04where I can do it. Without like breaking.
- 14:06Down and you know I. Don't know.
- 14:07I've listened to Ozzy all day since.
- 14:09We got the news since I got up so.
- 14:12Just wild. For me, bad mark.
- 14:15Says for me the last. 20 years losing DO Lemmy and Ozzy has
- 14:17been really bad. It has been really bad.
- 14:20It was hard. Watching his last performance,
- 14:22it was hard. It was hard.
- 14:25It's going to be hard for a while.
- 14:28Just a couple of oh. Somebody's here in the comments.
- 14:31Hey, Zach is here. Hold on one second, I'll kill
- 14:33off the banner. For ghostcultman.com and Zach
- 14:38Becks for being here. My introduction of Black.
- 14:41Sabbies was a 19. 81 adult animated movie classic Heavy
- 14:43Metal. And DO came first.
- 14:45Ozzy second. This was 96.
- 14:47And then I did. It in reverse order when I was
- 14:4811. Nice.
- 14:50Thank you for sharing. A lot of people discovered Heavy
- 14:53Metal because of the movie. Heavy Metal and Heavy Metal
- 14:55magazine. It doesn't get better, Debbie.
- 14:59It doesn't. But you know, we also.
- 15:01Have to persist and continue. Thank you for sharing everybody.
- 15:06Red Rum is here. So yeah, just a couple of.
- 15:09Little housekeeping things, you know.
- 15:11We are not corporately backed. And even though we have some
- 15:14advertising on our website, you can feel free to tip us if you
- 15:17want. To somebody.
- 15:19I don't know, I feel. Like all creators do this.
- 15:21And somebody dogged. Me the other day about.
- 15:26Asking for money but like. You know we need to.
- 15:29Keep the lights on. That's how this goes.
- 15:30It's it's not. Because I I love.
- 15:33Doing this and I will. Always do this but.
- 15:36You know. It's it's like no different than
- 15:39having a band to do a music. Website that's not corporately
- 15:42backed. So it's kind of have being a DIY
- 15:45band, it's all the same. Vibes I had when I.
- 15:47Used to, you know, have a band and I.
- 15:52Do have a band again for the first time in a long time, but
- 15:54we'll see. Parks and Recs is here.
- 15:56Supplication Metal is here. Thank you for everybody for.
- 16:00Watching, I appreciate you. But if you want to throw us some
- 16:03tips, cool. If not, that's OK too.
- 16:06So, you know, we just had the. Back to the beginning and so
- 16:09much Ozzy conversation and I don't know if.
- 16:10People have realized. This but according to.
- 16:12Billboard Paranoid is the number one rock.
- 16:15Song in the World. Right now, because a whole bunch
- 16:16of people have been streaming it, I don't.
- 16:20Think Black Sabbath is in the Billions Club at.
- 16:23All on streaming I know. Ozzy has got 800,000 on crazy
- 16:28Train. I don't think Sabbath has.
- 16:34Maybe. Let's see.
- 16:41Yeah, one song. Yeah, Paranoid is in the
- 16:43billion. You know, one point. 378
- 16:46billion. So the next nearest closest song
- 16:49they have to that is. Iron Man with.
- 16:50Just under 600,000. Streams so.
- 16:53I'm sure it's got 2 billion if you count.
- 16:55All of YouTube and Spotify and all this crap.
- 16:58But you know. As.
- 17:01Great and important as they. Were they were never as
- 17:03mainstream or big as some of the.
- 17:05Other bands, and obviously they. Didn't make a lot of money in
- 17:07the 70s because their manager was.
- 17:10Sharon's dad, Don. Arden who robbed them.
- 17:12Of a lot of money and there's. Our cash.
- 17:16App if you want to. He's flying high again.
- 17:18Yeah, man. Ozzy if there's a Valhalla.
- 17:21Or something. Ozzy is there.
- 17:25So. You know.
- 17:27Again, we just had this. Black Sabbath concert, that was.
- 17:30Incredible Ozzy for. Ozzy and Sabbath all these.
- 17:32Incredible. Tributes, all this conversation
- 17:35globally, the conversation of metal and and Black Sabbath and
- 17:39Ozzy came to the. Forefront This was done for
- 17:41charity. That was the way to get
- 17:43everybody. I think kind of to get in and do
- 17:45it, which is lovely. And I did raise more money than
- 17:48any charity concert in history. That's Fire Aid Farm.
- 17:52Aid, Live Aid. Twice.
- 17:55Unbelievable. Like an unbelievable thing.
- 17:58They they did here, Ken. Is here and says the
- 18:03contributions from to medal from Ozzy are incalculable.
- 18:06Agreed. My friend, this loss hurts.
- 18:08Bad, but he's out of. Pain and rocking.
- 18:09With the greats who left the forum I love.
- 18:11Too many songs to line. Out.
- 18:13RIP, Ozzy. Thank you, Ken.
- 18:14I appreciate you. Everybody go give our friend Ken
- 18:17follow. On whatever, whatever device
- 18:19you're on and this is over, Turbo is passed by and you is
- 18:23passed by. Cure Parkinson's, right?
- 18:26Like, you know, I did around the time of the pandemic.
- 18:31I worked for. A nursing home brand that.
- 18:35Places people in very high. End luxurious senior living.
- 18:39Communities. Right at the worst time during
- 18:42the pandemic, when people. Were dying of COVID.
- 18:44And things. And I got to work with.
- 18:47As a marketer, I got to work with Joan.
- 18:50London and her team because she's an advocate for dementia.
- 18:53And Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, because her mother suffered from
- 18:56those things. So there is a lot of.
- 18:59Research money, Debbie Going. Toward, you know, curing this,
- 19:03but you know. It's very.
- 19:07Cynical to say that, Ozzy. You know.
- 19:11Might have died anyway younger because of his constitution.
- 19:15And how much drugs and alcohol he did.
- 19:17But he's been pretty straight. For a very long time.
- 19:21I know that he. Had kind of a relapse.
- 19:22On pills and pain meds and things.
- 19:25Because of all his various. Ailments.
- 19:28But yeah, you know, I think. It's very cynical to say that,
- 19:35Turbo. Says I have.
- 19:36This empty feeling. In my soul.
- 19:37Because a legend. Is past rest in that old word?
- 19:40Very nicely said, Turbo. I appreciate you.
- 19:44You know it is. It's going to be tough for a
- 19:47while. It's going to hurt for a long
- 19:48time. I'm going to be honest.
- 19:51But I guess I just did that thing on the worst deaths, this
- 19:54might be the worst. Even though he went out
- 19:55triumphantly, which is lovely. And again, that you know.
- 20:00Ever. A lot of people's final memory
- 20:02of Ozzy is a good. One you know.
- 20:04Even though he was in that. Throne and he was squirming.
- 20:06And he couldn't move and he might have been in pain.
- 20:08He. Really.
- 20:08Powered through that performance, whatever you want
- 20:10to say, he performed. And it was lovely and a fitting.
- 20:13Send off thanks everybody who's. Following and liking us.
- 20:18I will follow you back when. We get off this stream.
- 20:21I will stay on as long as people.
- 20:22Want me to? Or as long as people are hanging
- 20:24out and conversating again. Feel free to drop a.
- 20:27Comment wherever you're. Watching this from with your.
- 20:29Favorite. Aussie song moment Black
- 20:32Sabbath. Song both, one of each.
- 20:33Whatever you like, I always. Talk about my personal.
- 20:37Favorites for Sabbath is still. War Pigs and Lord of this World.
- 20:41The originals I talk often about.
- 20:43Being a very little little kid and.
- 20:45Hearing that first base note that base slide.
- 20:49From Of War Pigs. And having that change my whole
- 20:53life between Ozzy and Geezer. Pretty princesses.
- 20:56RIP Ozzy. And a bunch of sad faces agreed.
- 21:00Agreed. You know a lot of people's final
- 21:04memory of this. Is going to be Ozzy.
- 21:06And. Black Sabbath having this
- 21:07triumphant moment and all these bands.
- 21:08Paying. Tribute to them.
- 21:09The greatest band, Maybe one of the greatest concerts of all
- 21:11time. We'll have to, you know, history
- 21:13will tell if it is or not. I've aid just had.
- 21:16It's the original Live Aid from 85.
- 21:18Just past 40 years last. Weekend.
- 21:21And a lot of people. Thought that was the greatest
- 21:22concert of all time, which did feature a Black Sabbath.
- 21:25Reunion with Ozzie a led. Zeppelin reunion with Phil
- 21:28Collins on drums and. Deep Purple.
- 21:31And many other bands too. Wild, wild shit, you know?
- 21:37Shout out. Ozzie.
- 21:39Has continued even when he couldn't.
- 21:41Make music the last. Five or six years that.
- 21:43He talked about on stage being light up.
- 21:46And I'll he continued to dominate pop.
- 21:49Culture. And you know, I have to give
- 21:51credit to Sharon. I pick on.
- 21:53Her an awful lot of. Times for some of.
- 21:55The things she's done. That are not favorable but she
- 21:57really you know helped build Ozzy, who grew up in.
- 22:02Abject poverty and Black Sabbath.
- 22:03And really made very little. Money in the 70s compared to all
- 22:06their other peers and put a. Lot of it up their nose when
- 22:09they did that money ghost. Pipe is here and Thomas.
- 22:11Burns is here. You know she really.
- 22:14Built his brand. And built him into a.
- 22:16Thing that is really. You know it couldn't happen, You
- 22:19know, riches and wealth, whatever he had and enjoyed I'm.
- 22:22Glad he did, because he. Came up.
- 22:24With less than nothing a. Very tough childhood, Ozzy.
- 22:29A lot of people know. Ozzy mostly from Ozzy's Boneyard
- 22:32on SiriusXM. And his.
- 22:35Pop mini podcast. The Osbournes.
- 22:36Podcast, we'll talk about the. Osbournes in a little.
- 22:38Bit and his podcast. You know, with Billy Morrison
- 22:42and the Super. Groups were phenomenal, of
- 22:45course, black. Sabbath is the goat that's.
- 22:47True, I think the Super groups were great except for Billy
- 22:50Corgan. And.
- 22:51Sammy Hagar was embarrassing. You cannot come up there and not
- 22:55know flying high again. And just think you're.
- 22:58Going to fake your way through it and.
- 22:59Travis Barker also. Kind of turned me off with his.
- 23:02Lack of attention to detail. But what are you going?
- 23:05To do, I thought overall. The show was wonderful.
- 23:08So serious every band has put out a.
- 23:11Comment or a statement. Or a tweet, you can check it
- 23:13out. A concept cafe is here.
- 23:16We're just hitting here, remembering the life in.
- 23:18The music of Ozzy. Osbournes I I assume it's.
- 23:21Mike that runs the account. What's up, Mike, Thanks for
- 23:23being here. Recent those called interviewee.
- 23:29I know that there's a potentially an Ozzy album
- 23:32that's. Done and ready to come.
- 23:34Out and I don't know what the timetable was for that.
- 23:37But. Ozzy's.
- 23:38Most recent new music. Has been these remixes and re
- 23:42imaginations of his work with Billy?
- 23:43Morrison on Billy Morrison's album and.
- 23:48There was just a single out. With them, absolutely.
- 23:52Farewell, Turbo, Turbo says in my.
- 23:55Opinion There's two concerts to. Stand out.
- 23:57And Bob, Monsters Rock and 91 and Ozzie.
- 23:59So All right, man, yeah, Monsters Rock 91 was probably.
- 24:02A huge, huge concert. It's.
- 24:04Kind of the changing of the guard, yeah.
- 24:14I'm glad that there's some new music.
- 24:16Recent music where Ozzie sounded.
- 24:17Pretty good or whatever, you know, whatever.
- 24:19They did to get him. To sound good.
- 24:22From a couple of years. Ago again I do.
- 24:24Believe there's a third Andrew. Watt album that has been worked
- 24:26on. We'll see if that sees.
- 24:27The light of day. You know he's had.
- 24:32A bit of a career. Resurgence even when he
- 24:34couldn't. Tour.
- 24:35Anymore before the pandemic so. Again, I had seen Ozzy three
- 24:38times and he was, you know. Pretty solid.
- 24:42And. You know that you can.
- 24:43Watch our other. Listen to our other.
- 24:46Podcasts or watch our other. Videos where we speculated about
- 24:49how much singing Ozzy. Actually did or not mark?
- 24:51Anderson's here for. Madness is passed by Hello.
- 24:54Hello resumed. Identity is passed by.
- 24:57So, but he's had a bit of a career of surgeons 2.
- 25:01Grammy winning. Albums Rock and Roll Hall.
- 25:03Of fame is a solo. Artist I I don't really.
- 25:05Care much about halls of fame's? We do have a Heavy Metal Hall of
- 25:08Fame. Now, but I think it's.
- 25:10Interesting to note that there's only a handful of people who
- 25:14have been inducted more than. Once into the hall.
- 25:16Of fame all. 4 Beatles as solo artists are in.
- 25:20Stevie Nicks is in twice. Ozzy is, obviously.
- 25:25One of them, and deservedly so, he absolutely deserved to get in
- 25:32I. Had the Who's the other?
- 25:35Person. Eric Clapton is in three times.
- 25:40But kind of fuck Eric. Clapton and Clyde Mcfadder of
- 25:43The Drifters. And also as a solo.
- 25:45Artist. Which I think is hella
- 25:48interesting. Right.
- 25:51Super, super interesting. So you know, Ozzy is one of the.
- 25:53Few people who have made. It that many times and obviously
- 25:59we had his. The you know.
- 26:01Sharon has done a masterful. Job marketing him.
- 26:03Obviously there was a. Lot of Ozzy.
- 26:05News and stuff surrounding the Back to the Beginning shows,
- 26:08including Ozzy's DNA in cans of Liquid Death A Shameless.
- 26:14Plug for our. Friends at Liquid Death and.
- 26:17Going for like 400. And $50 a.
- 26:19Can and maybe they can. Clone Ozzy and bring them.
- 26:23Back. Or put his DNA into somebody
- 26:25else. Ronnie Radke have fallen in.
- 26:32Reverse doesn't have a brain. He'd be a good candidate.
- 26:34To replace his. Brain his damaged brain with.
- 26:37Aussies And then we get up like a whole new.
- 26:38Aussie in a new body? Become fun.
- 26:41All I seen him here today is his music and that's what he would.
- 26:43Want he absolutely would want. He'd also.
- 26:45Want us to all listen? To The Beatles, especially later
- 26:48era Beatles, Abbey Road and White Album.
- 26:51And stuff like that. He would let it be.
- 26:52He'd. Love that in my life I loved you
- 26:57all. Ozzie's cover, that is.
- 26:58Wonderful, by the way, in case. You didn't know he has all
- 27:01covers album? And you know the 2.
- 27:06Grammys were, you know. Very nice and again Black
- 27:09Paranoid is the number one song. In the world, I wonder.
- 27:11If crazy, train. Or my mom coming home will
- 27:14suddenly become a huge. Chart hit it.
- 27:17Probably will a lot of. People are streaming.
- 27:19That song that probably barely ever heard it.
- 27:21Rockin, 78, says I. Saw him in the front row and
- 27:24said in O5 with. Sabbath one of my favorite.
- 27:25Shows ever. Word to the bird.
- 27:27I got to see Ozzie with Sabbath 3.
- 27:29Times once with Bill. Warden twice with Puffy Borden.
- 27:33On drums, probably my favorite. One is Black Sabbath Pantera
- 27:38Deftones in 1999. So it's Deftones on around the
- 27:43fur. Not yet, White Pony.
- 27:45Or just as. White Pony was coming out.
- 27:48And. Pantera at the.
- 27:49Top of Pantera's top. Right before reinventing the
- 27:52Steel and Sabbath, and they were great, I was in the.
- 27:57Brendan Byrne Arena AKA Where the Devil's Play.
- 28:00Whatever it's called now, Continental Airlines Arena,
- 28:03maybe there's a. Different name.
- 28:04I don't know. Somebody help me that's.
- 28:05From New York City. I have no idea.
- 28:09Nucatron Deluxe is here. Genie B is.
- 28:12Passing by. Thank you for being here
- 28:15everybody. Yeah.
- 28:23And then you know. Again, getting into.
- 28:25The Rock Hall. And being inducted and having
- 28:27all those people. Perform.
- 28:30I'm a huge tool fan in Maynard who is you know, maybe the pre
- 28:33eminent singer this generation said that you.
- 28:36Know he was intimidated to. Do Ozzy songs and he was
- 28:39actually concerned that he couldn't actually hit the notes.
- 28:42Whatever you want to say about Ozzy, not.
- 28:43Being a great singer. He had a great.
- 28:45Year for melody he picked. Great people to collaborate
- 28:48with. People like Randy Rhodes and
- 28:51Jake E Lee believed. In him and Zach White.
- 28:53Wrote stuff that he could perform and Ozzy.
- 28:56Took chances and risks. Because his.
- 28:58Ear He had a very good year for music, I think partially because
- 29:01he was. Obsessed with The Beatles so he
- 29:03always heard wild harmonies. And melodies and not these
- 29:06typical things you hear in. Pop music.
- 29:08That, I'm afraid to say, sucks. Most pop music is really like 3.
- 29:12Or 4 notes total, you know, in whole songs.
- 29:16And Ozzy would take risks and not just hit the octaves but try
- 29:19adventurous things. That's why it was so hard for
- 29:21people like. Axel and Maynard.
- 29:23To sing those Ozzy and Black. Sabbath songs, You know he.
- 29:28Really was underrated and I'm really glad that he lived.
- 29:31Long enough to at least get. In the Hall of Fame and go have
- 29:33that experience and sit on that. Throne and thank the.
- 29:36Crowd and. To the back to the.
- 29:39Beginning and you know, really. Interesting to see and have
- 29:43everybody from around the world kind of, you know, pulling
- 29:46together and and showing love because.
- 29:49You know, we just don't. We just don't have a lot of it.
- 29:53We never had enough of it, honestly.
- 29:54And he didn't. I'm.
- 29:55Glad he got to get it in. His lifetime and not later.
- 29:59You know that. He didn't live to see it, you
- 30:02know, So, yeah. What else?
- 30:08What else? Let's.
- 30:09Just do before we talk. About Oz Fest and The Osbournes.
- 30:13I'm kind of going in. Reverse order or skipping
- 30:15around? Let you know you know.
- 30:24Ozzy put together Blizzard of Oz.
- 30:27He had quit Black Sabbath briefly before.
- 30:29Never say die and try to do a band called.
- 30:31Blizzard of Oz. And he you know.
- 30:35Put out his solo career and he literally had.
- 30:38I love the. Ozzy behind the music tells the
- 30:40story as Sharon says it was a nothing.
- 30:43Record deal like it was the. Only label.
- 30:45Of the majors, that would. Give him and give.
- 30:47Him the cheapest deal possible. No actual real money, no.
- 30:51Faith that he would have a hit record and the record.
- 30:54Was such a huge hit when Blizzard.
- 30:55Of Oz came out. Blizzard of Oz.
- 31:00According to Wikipedia, which we.
- 31:02Know not to. Fully trust it, but.
- 31:03I believe this is true. Is one of the few.
- 31:05Albums among the 100. Bestsellers of the 80s to have
- 31:07achieved multi platinum status without the benefit of a Top 40.
- 31:10Single and Bill Ward said. I Ozzy I.
- 31:15Envied Ozzy's solo career. Remarked Bill Ward.
- 31:18He seemed to. Be coming around whatever he had
- 31:20gone. Through and he seemed to be on
- 31:22his way again, making records, I.
- 31:23Envied it because I. Wanted that and I was.
- 31:25Bitter. I had a thoroughly miserable
- 31:27time. So.
- 31:29You know, and then, yeah. I think.
- 31:32Blizzard of Oz went. Platinum in like. 6 to 8 weeks,
- 31:35which is. Absolutely bananas It's not
- 31:38done. It wasn't done back then.
- 31:43So, you know, I'm really thrilled.
- 31:46I do feel like Lee Curse Lake and Bob Daisley.
- 31:49And Don Airy have been kind of written out.
- 31:51Of. The.
- 31:52Aussie story, which is sad and Randy, obviously rightfully so,
- 31:57gets a. Lot of the attention but.
- 32:00You know, there's so many great people that came through.
- 32:02Ozzy's band. Tommy Aldridge.
- 32:04And and. Rudy Sarzo and he had.
- 32:07Wanted Gary Moore. But he wasn't available and.
- 32:12Sometime Robert Sarzo. Almost got the guitar job.
- 32:16Brad Gillis, who I've interviewed, was super
- 32:19interesting to talk. To him about his experience with
- 32:21Ozzy, you know, and then Jakey. Lee.
- 32:29And you know Joe? Holmes is very underrated.
- 32:32Of course, Randy Castillo. Mike Inez, Zach.
- 32:36Wilde, Gus. GI.
- 32:39Mean so many great guitar. Players have come through and.
- 32:44Gotten to work with. Ozzy and then Geezer reunited
- 32:47with Ozzy. At one point on his solo career.
- 32:49In the 90s and then. Obviously Black Sabbath.
- 32:51Came back a few times. Not just occasional one off.
- 32:53Shows like 90. 2 and 80. 5 for Live Aid.
- 32:57But then they reformed in in 97 I.
- 33:04Absolutely went crazy. Going to Oz Fest 97, this is one
- 33:08of my favorite things ever. And I mean, this is just an
- 33:10unbelievable, phenomenal show. To be honest.
- 33:16Ozzy with Black Sabbath. Doing full.
- 33:20Sets, unfortunately, Bill Ward. Could not be there so.
- 33:27It was Iommi and and Butler. Bill wasn't back yet.
- 33:32Manson at the hype. Hype.
- 33:34Hype of. Andy Kray, Superstar Pantera.
- 33:37Phenomenal. Type O Negative.
- 33:42Fear Factory Machine head Powerman 5000 and on the second
- 33:46stage down set slow burn cold chamber drain STH.
- 33:51Who I love vision of disorder and neurosis, which is.
- 33:53Wild. What a.
- 33:55Wild lineup that was, and it was a giant stadium in June of. 97
- 34:00and the. Field was.
- 34:01Hot as fuck it. Was like 100 and something
- 34:03degrees. When I went.
- 34:04To quite a few Hospice. 98992. 1000 then a few more. 2000 and
- 34:09three, 2000 and four, 2005. Oz Fest was overwhelmingly
- 34:14successful. And I believe it was the Battle
- 34:16for Oz Fest show. That.
- 34:19The popularity and a little. Bit of an.
- 34:21Appearance from Ozzy and Sharon and then that.
- 34:23Catapulted Ozzy to be to have the.
- 34:27Osbournes and the Osbournes. Really, you know, Opened up.
- 34:30Ozzy to an entire world of people and I know that people
- 34:33were laughing at him and. Not so much with him which.
- 34:36Does make me sad but like. You have to admit that.
- 34:40Like being kind of like grass pretend evil motherfuckers that
- 34:44suddenly have. Hundreds of millions of dollars
- 34:46is hilariously funny. To see the things that.
- 34:49They get into and the things that.
- 34:50Annoyed them. People love the.
- 34:51Osbournes if you didn't have the.
- 34:52Osbournes. Arguably a lot of.
- 34:55Things, you know, reality television, it's the best
- 34:57reality. Television show, Probably ever.
- 35:03It's beloved by people. Who don't know Ozzy's music
- 35:05Which? Is crazy but incredible.
- 35:07And it made him. Wealthy beyond belief, which is.
- 35:10I'm. Again, thankful for he can't.
- 35:12If you've ever been poor or lived through poverty, you.
- 35:15Know that this is an incredible thing.
- 35:18No pit photography is here. Rockin 78 just followed us.
- 35:22Thank you Rockin 78. I'll follow you when we get.
- 35:24Off here, Guy manisters here, Fruitless pursuit is here, so
- 35:30you know. The Osbournes really opened
- 35:34things up. For Ozzy, in a way.
- 35:36That I think it, you know, it was really wonderful for him to
- 35:39kind of crossover to pop culture.
- 35:41Liquid Death. Advertisements.
- 35:43I think I had an ad in here. I didn't make it into the.
- 35:45Deck where he did a. They did an ad for.
- 35:49Like he recreated the old memorex.
- 35:51Is it live or is it memorex? Ad for PlayStation.
- 35:55Right when it was VR goggles. Came out.
- 35:58So. You know I.
- 36:00Thought that was pretty great. You know he will live on in
- 36:03other. Things Skepsis Recordings is
- 36:06here. Yeah, I got.
- 36:12I got you, Debbie. Randy Rhodes.
- 36:14Real, real sad. Real sad.
- 36:17Randy's passing. Toddling is also here.
- 36:21You know, just just just full of.
- 36:24Grief, just really sad. Ozzy was, you know.
- 36:27All of our. Set.
- 36:29You know he. Was all of our heroes.
- 36:31He he really put. Metal.
- 36:33On a pedestal that really can't be touched.
- 36:35His contributions can't be measured.
- 36:37As Ken said earlier. And yeah, not sure what's going
- 36:45on. Outside, but anyway, you know.
- 36:48That's kind of where I'm at. I don't want to be rambling on
- 36:50here. There's.
- 36:50Going to be more tributes. From those cult will be a
- 36:52written post. Tonight, overnight.
- 36:54Talking about his. Career by.
- 36:57One of our writers, Gary from the UK, was.
- 36:59Just there at the festival. You know this is tough.
- 37:04And I really feel like this. Is the first of many, many of.
- 37:07Ozzy's age of guys. That are going to maybe slip
- 37:11away soon so if I always. Said go see your concerts.
- 37:14Go. Now.
- 37:15Because people are not going to see.
- 37:16I always said I'll see. Dime bag down next time and then
- 37:19he was killed. And I'll see Dio again.
- 37:21I saw him, lucky to see him. And then he was gone.
- 37:24So like, I'm glad Pantera came back.
- 37:25The way it is, but like a lot of people never saw the originals.
- 37:29Buy the concert tickets. Eat.
- 37:31Dessert first. Life is very short, separate.
- 37:33Savor it while you're. Here my my pledge.
- 37:35To all of you is. Work on your happiness.
- 37:38Music is a great relief. Art is a great relief.
- 37:42Toys and memorabilia. Is a great escape movies.
- 37:45Whatever your thing is that makes you happy.
- 37:47But really, try to. Find that joy.
- 37:49Because life is hard and. It's just going to get harder
- 37:52and harder. As we lose our heroes.
- 37:55And again, I'm Kefi from Ghost Cult thanks for hanging out with
- 37:58us today. Feel free to check us out at.
