- 0:56Speaker 4: Stopped doing something strange for some change and dark chocolate phoenix.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
- 1:03Speaker 1: And, of course, the far-septer prospector in the one piece.
- 1:08Speaker 4: The Grogu onesie. Nice. We're together here today. Hey, everyone.
- 1:13Speaker 5: It's Portia, a.k.a. Captain Planet, a.k.a. Sabrina the Gym Leader Witch.
- 1:20Speaker 5: Don't make me call Kadabra, a.k.a.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Raekwanda Maximoff. That's who I am tonight. Nice. Very good.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Good one.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Very nice. And some other superstars. You might have seen
- 1:33Speaker 2: them in.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Some photos at, you know, New York Comic Con this weekend,
- 1:38Speaker 1: you know, and various other places on For All Nerd Show.
- 1:42Speaker 1: But first, Joel, reintroduce yourself to the fan fam.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Hey, what's up, everybody? It's Joel, the social media maestro, a.k.a. SideLockAndDropIt, a.k.a.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Homosexual Superior, a.k.a. Gore the God Butch Queen, a.k.a. The
- 1:58Speaker 3: One Doing the Bending, a.k.a. Shang-Chi and the Legend of
- 2:02Speaker 3: the Ten-Piece Wings, with a side of Mambo Sauce.
- 2:05Speaker 2: So you're doing the bending?
- 2:07Speaker 1: Right, yes, yes!
- 2:09Speaker 4: That's how you clear. That's how you clear. My God,
- 2:12Speaker 4: Janet's face appeared to materialize in my head.
- 2:15Speaker 2: So you're the one doing the bending?
- 2:17Speaker 4: And that last one with the mambo sauce, very DC,
- 2:19Speaker 4: very DMV, love it.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:23Speaker 1: All day.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Yes. All day.
- 2:25Speaker 1: And, of course, returning the sound god himself.
- 2:31Speaker 2: What up, y'all?
- 2:32Speaker 6: This is John Luna, a.k.a. the sound god, a.k.a. cosplayer
- 2:35Speaker 6: number 4122, because I was not the first and I
- 2:39Speaker 6: was not the last Carl cosplayer at New York Comic
- 2:43Speaker 6: Con 2026.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Oh, my goodness. There were so many of y'all. Yeah. And,
- 2:49Speaker 4: you know, it's so funny because I was with Luna
- 2:51Speaker 4: a lot of the times, like, when we were doing
- 2:52Speaker 4: cosplay content. And he would go, oh, hey, Carl. He'd, like,
- 2:56Speaker 4: the other Carl would say, oh, what's up, Carl? And
- 2:58Speaker 4: then it was happening, like, over and over and over again.
- 3:02Speaker 4: My gosh.
- 3:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I was telling Luna that on my way to
- 3:05Speaker 5: the con, I saw someone in the costume and I
- 3:08Speaker 5: understood who it was because I saw his video that
- 3:11Speaker 5: he posted his costume that he's throwing together before he
- 3:13Speaker 5: went to the con.
- 3:14Speaker 4: And I was like, I understand this reference.
- 3:18Speaker 1: For everyone wondering why I've suddenly transformed from sweatshirt to t-shirt,
- 3:26Speaker 1: it's because I was boiling in it because I am
- 3:30Speaker 1: suffering From the affliction commonly known as Con Crud. And
- 3:39Speaker 1: while one of my favorite parts of every New York
- 3:43Speaker 1: City con since Jimi Hendrix, Purple Haze, has been released
- 3:47Speaker 1: is getting to meet people and talk to people, there
- 3:49Speaker 1: is also what comes with that, and that is pain
- 3:52Speaker 1: and agony sometimes after. Actually, last year and the year before,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I did pretty well. I've not had a case of
- 3:58Speaker 1: being down bad after a con like I am today
- 4:01Speaker 1: in a while. But I don't know. This year, it
- 4:05Speaker 1: didn't work out that well. And yeah, I'm a bit
- 4:08Speaker 1: hurt right now, y'all. So I'm here.
- 4:10Speaker 2: But yeah.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Damn. Yeah. You got to take that V serum, man.
- 4:13Speaker 4: I haven't gotten sick in years. Like Ben Amin was saying,
- 4:17Speaker 4: we just finished 2026 New York Comic Con. It was
- 4:20Speaker 4: probably maybe the most successful Comic Con we've had thus
- 4:23Speaker 4: far in terms of everything we got to do. We
- 4:26Speaker 4: had a blast. Shout out to the whole fan fam here,
- 4:28Speaker 4: because I'm so happy that we all were able to
- 4:30Speaker 4: be physically together in the rooms doing amazing things. We
- 4:34Speaker 4: had things like the fight board going on. We had
- 4:37Speaker 4: cosplayers that we were interviewing. We had interviews with creators
- 4:42Speaker 4: and writers and all sorts of people. We saw the panels.
- 4:45Speaker 4: We saw all the things. We did everything. And I
- 4:47Speaker 4: think we just really all in general just had a
- 4:50Speaker 4: really big blast.
- 4:51Speaker 1: What was your favorite part of New York City Comic Con?
- 4:54Speaker 1: Before we get into, you know, the stuff that everybody
- 4:55Speaker 1: knows about, let's get into, you know, personal things that,
- 4:59Speaker 1: you know, only we can talk about.
- 5:00Speaker 3: I think for me, like, it was just really nice
- 5:04Speaker 3: to be with you all. Like, we're always together on Zoom.
- 5:07Speaker 3: So it's just really fun to all be together in
- 5:09Speaker 3: person and just, like, laugh and kiki the whole time.
- 5:13Speaker 3: But I think, like, one of my favorite things that, like,
- 5:15Speaker 3: I attended was at the con portion I got to
- 5:17Speaker 3: go to an Apothecary Diaries panel, which is, like, an anime,
- 5:22Speaker 3: and the, like, voice actors of that anime were there,
- 5:25Speaker 3: and they did a, like, live dubbing over, like, the
- 5:27Speaker 3: anime scene, and I had never seen that before. I
- 5:30Speaker 3: just didn't want to watch, because, like, The girl that
- 5:32Speaker 3: was Maomao, the main character, she was all like cute
- 5:35Speaker 3: and bubbly, but her character is like very dry and sarcastic.
- 5:38Speaker 3: So she would get up on that mic and then
- 5:40Speaker 3: just be like, oh, okay. So that was really cool.
- 5:45Speaker 3: And just like the energy in the room was really
- 5:47Speaker 3: fun from all of the otaku.
- 5:49Speaker 4: It felt like a New York City Comic Con exclusive.
- 5:52Speaker 4: And I love that.
- 5:53Speaker 5: Like, I love whenever, like, you being at the con
- 5:55Speaker 5: actually means something. And, like, you can't, it's not an
- 5:59Speaker 5: experience you can have, like, just randomly anywhere that you
- 6:03Speaker 5: have to be at New York Comic Con this year,
- 6:05Speaker 5: at this time, in this panel to have that experience.
- 6:07Speaker 4: So it felt exactly like that. No, that was enjoyable.
- 6:10Speaker 3: And it definitely had that, like, con community feel because, like,
- 6:14Speaker 3: the random strangers about, like, oh, do you watch this anime?
- 6:17Speaker 3: You should watch this one. So it was just, like,
- 6:20Speaker 3: cool to nerd out with other people.
- 6:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:22Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 6:23Speaker 6: I was going to say, uh, like obviously being with
- 6:26Speaker 6: the team was like the highlight, you know, being together. Um, but, uh,
- 6:30Speaker 6: you'd think going to these panels with like the, the
- 6:33Speaker 6: author for dungeon crawler, Carl was like the, another highlight
- 6:36Speaker 6: for me. But when I was walking around, uh, talking
- 6:40Speaker 6: to cause players getting like, they would ask me what
- 6:43Speaker 6: I am. And I would explain, you know, with passion,
- 6:45Speaker 6: what I was, but, but, Interacting with other cosplayers who
- 6:50Speaker 6: are passionate about the things they are cosplaying as was.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Such a treat to see, to just share.
- 6:59Speaker 6: In that flow of passion.
- 7:01Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 7:02Speaker 6: So, yeah, that for me, just listening to people explain
- 7:06Speaker 6: their love for why they're dressed up the way they are.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Was really nice.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I think for me that passionate energy is what...
- 7:16Speaker 4: kept me fueled because this has been over 10 years
- 7:19Speaker 4: of attending New York Comic Con now for me. And
- 7:23Speaker 4: as you can imagine, sometimes it becomes jaded, especially when
- 7:26Speaker 4: you have to work or you're not exactly doing the
- 7:29Speaker 4: things you used to do, like running back and forth,
- 7:31Speaker 4: seeing all the panels, seeing all the people. But what
- 7:34Speaker 4: has continuously thrilled me has always been the cosplay. That
- 7:38Speaker 4: is my highlight every year. And it's because of what
- 7:41Speaker 4: you all had talked about. And you meant it in
- 7:43Speaker 4: different ways, but I am also applying that to the cosplay,
- 7:47Speaker 4: like the community aspect of it, the family aspect of it. We,
- 7:51Speaker 4: you and I, Luna, we interviewed a father daughter duo
- 7:55Speaker 4: that did an amazing cosplay, a Yu-Gi-Oh cosplay. And I
- 7:59Speaker 4: know that if you guys go on YouTube right now, youtube.com
- 8:01Speaker 4: slash for on their CV, you will see that beautiful,
- 8:04Speaker 4: beautiful work that they did. And again, the time that
- 8:07Speaker 4: it takes for people to go into it, like, and
- 8:09Speaker 4: not just building the costume itself. Sometimes it's just the idea.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Cause it could be a really easily built costume or
- 8:15Speaker 4: it really, you know, didn't take too much quote effort,
- 8:18Speaker 4: but the fact that you even had this idea and
- 8:20Speaker 4: that it was clever, like that, I love seeing that.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Right.
- 8:23Speaker 4: And I also love seeing like little niche things. Like
- 8:26Speaker 4: for my strong, bad fans, there was a giant truck
- 8:28Speaker 4: door that was there. I thought that was amazing that
- 8:30Speaker 4: that was insane. And of course, like two people knew
- 8:32Speaker 4: what that was, but that doesn't matter.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Like, like you said, having that passion for something that
- 8:37Speaker 4: you're a fan of and, You might run into the
- 8:40Speaker 4: one or two people who also know about it, but
- 8:41Speaker 4: y'all both geek together. Like, that's really cool. And that's
- 8:44Speaker 4: what makes, to me, New York Comic Con the strongest.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I have to say, out of all of the
- 8:49Speaker 3: cons that I've been, like, New York has always been
- 8:51Speaker 3: my favorite cosplay. And yeah, like, even when I went
- 8:54Speaker 3: to San Diego Comic Con, I was just like, hmm.
- 8:59Speaker 3: I just felt like I saw, I keep seeing better
- 9:01Speaker 3: at New York. And to build on your thing about, like,
- 9:03Speaker 3: the community, I thought it was really cool, all of the, like,
- 9:06Speaker 3: cosplay meetups.
- 9:07Speaker 4: That were happening.
- 9:08Speaker 5: Yes, yes.
- 9:08Speaker 3: I saw a video of, like, all the Filipino cosplayers. Yes!
- 9:12Speaker 4: That, there was a Puerto Rican parade.
- 9:14Speaker 3: A Puerto Rican one, yes.
- 9:16Speaker 4: We caught the end of that, yeah. Yeah, and you
- 9:19Speaker 4: can only do that in New York, to be honest
- 9:21Speaker 4: with you. Like, yes, there's all these other cities and
- 9:24Speaker 4: states that do the thing, but, like, New York has
- 9:26Speaker 4: that special sauce and that special magic. And then when
- 9:28Speaker 4: you combine it with something like fandom and the passion
- 9:32Speaker 4: that we've all been speaking of, it's a beautiful, beautiful thing. So,
- 9:36Speaker 4: and really, as much as it could be, like, physically
- 9:40Speaker 4: hard to get through the con, you know, you get
- 9:42Speaker 4: sick or, you know, physically, your feet hurt, everything hurts.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Everyone is generally on the same wave when it's like
- 9:51Speaker 4: everyone's there to have a good time.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Right.
- 9:53Speaker 4: No one's there to disturb you. Everyone's trying to be respectful.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Generally speaking, like everybody's just there to be. happy and
- 10:00Speaker 4: i think that's what i really appreciate it's always a
- 10:04Speaker 4: happy cloud as opposed to a dark cloud whenever i
- 10:07Speaker 4: go there yeah and where else are you gonna see
- 10:09Speaker 4: a failed attempt to break it The Guinness World Record
- 10:13Speaker 4: of Spider-Man, but listen, we tried.
- 10:14Speaker 1: We were robbed.
- 10:15Speaker 4: We were absolutely robbed.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Yeah, we were absolutely robbed, y'all. And that was definitely
- 10:20Speaker 1: one of my favorite parts. I have so many from
- 10:22Speaker 1: this year. I think this was my... I feel like
- 10:24Speaker 1: every year it becomes my favorite New York Comic Con
- 10:27Speaker 1: because the last few years there's been so many amazing
- 10:30Speaker 1: things happening at each one. But definitely the Spider-Man Guinness
- 10:34Speaker 1: World Record.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Attempt was one of my favorite parts. That was so...
- 10:40Speaker 2: fucking hilarious. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:42Speaker 4: It was for, for those don't know, know about it.
- 10:44Speaker 4: It was literally, I have to remember, and I'm going
- 10:47Speaker 4: to find it, the name of the people who did this,
- 10:50Speaker 4: but it was a costuming company that said, look, we're
- 10:54Speaker 4: trying to break the record. We're going to give you
- 10:56Speaker 4: a free costume. Just show up here at this time
- 10:59Speaker 4: and get online at this time. And we're just going
- 11:01Speaker 4: to try to make it happen. And like, The audacity
- 11:03Speaker 4: to just do something random like that, right? Like, yes,
- 11:06Speaker 4: it's promotion for the company, but it didn't feel like corporate, right? Like,
- 11:11Speaker 4: it felt like they was really trying to do something
- 11:13Speaker 4: for the community and something. And also probably because it
- 11:16Speaker 4: was free, right? Like, but it was something that anybody
- 11:19Speaker 4: could do, right? People of all walks of life, all ages,
- 11:22Speaker 4: all sizes, all everybody. Here's a costume. We're going to
- 11:24Speaker 4: try to make something shake. And we're going to try
- 11:26Speaker 4: to make something positive shake.
- 11:27Speaker 5: Right.
- 11:28Speaker 4: That's the other part. Right. Like it was nothing else
- 11:30Speaker 4: to it. And I see why you love that so much, Ben,
- 11:33Speaker 4: because it was just a nice it was joy and
- 11:36Speaker 4: camaraderie there. Right. Like our whole team was in Spider-Man
- 11:40Speaker 4: suits and we was just sitting there like you saw
- 11:42Speaker 4: the pictures of us waving, having a great time. And,
- 11:45Speaker 4: you know, the CEO was on stage was just like,
- 11:47Speaker 4: are we going to try? Right. Like it was like
- 11:49Speaker 4: it was no it was like it was important, but
- 11:52Speaker 4: it was also no pressure. yeah and and it and
- 11:54Speaker 4: it and while it did not work out it still
- 11:56Speaker 4: felt like it.
- 11:57Speaker 5: Mattered jazz wears was the name of the costume.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Shout out to jazz wears for for the attempt shout
- 12:04Speaker 4: out to mr guinness as i kept calling him in
- 12:06Speaker 4: his face he hated that it was a guy literally
- 12:09Speaker 4: in like a blue outfit in a vest that said
- 12:12Speaker 4: guinness world records and i said well go ask mr
- 12:14Speaker 4: guinness if we could do this and he was just
- 12:15Speaker 4: like why is she calling me that but i'm like
- 12:17Speaker 4: i don't know your name sir but And.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Then people started yelling out, recount at him.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Oh, I started that, by the way.
- 12:23Speaker 2: And my man said, my man said, I'm going home.
- 12:27Speaker 4: I'm an anarchist. I was just like, recount! Apparently, so
- 12:32Speaker 4: first of all, the record was like 485 or something
- 12:36Speaker 4: like that.
- 12:36Speaker 2: 685. Sorry, 685.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Sorry. And we had 690 or so, but 26 people
- 12:38Speaker 4: got deducted or eliminated or whatever. And I'm just like,
- 12:48Speaker 4: y'all BSing.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Were they turning away? We had it.
- 12:51Speaker 6: So was it?
- 12:52Speaker 5: They were turning away people throughout the day. They were like,
- 12:54Speaker 5: there's a specific costume that you can wear.
- 12:56Speaker 4: It was a specific.
- 12:57Speaker 2: You had to be Peter Parker.
- 12:58Speaker 4: You had to be Peter Parker specifically. It was a
- 13:00Speaker 4: specific one. Not a Tobey Maguire one. It was very, very,
- 13:03Speaker 4: very specific. Yeah. Yeah.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I had seen that.
- 13:06Speaker 6: Like an all chromed out Spider-Man was like looking all
- 13:08Speaker 6: sad or outside being.
- 13:10Speaker 4: He didn't count.
- 13:10Speaker 2: He didn't count.
- 13:14Speaker 4: Sorry dude but uh but yeah it was it was
- 13:17Speaker 4: at the end of the day that was very actually
- 13:19Speaker 4: beautiful yes it was a nice memory.
- 13:21Speaker 5: I learned a new appreciation for the spider-man wearing masks
- 13:24Speaker 5: because holy i do not know how y'all wear that mask.
- 13:29Speaker 4: I cannot see i could barely breathe my eyelash was
- 13:32Speaker 4: folding over i was so upset but i had a
- 13:34Speaker 4: good time it.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Was a good time yeah i had a great time
- 13:38Speaker 1: uh like i say even though i am suffering y'all
- 13:41Speaker 1: can hear it in my voice right now It's still
- 13:44Speaker 1: one of my favorite parts of every con, like I said,
- 13:47Speaker 1: since this book has come out, is meeting people, even
- 13:51Speaker 1: though it can be quite exhausting sitting there saying, Jimi
- 13:53Speaker 1: Hendrix in space battling an evil intergalactic empire using the
- 13:58Speaker 1: power of his music. I feel like one of them
- 14:01Speaker 1: old dolls that you pull a string on and I
- 14:03Speaker 1: say this phrase.
- 14:04Speaker 3: It's a snake in my boot.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Eventually the phrase became very short, Jimi Hendrix in space.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's all you really need.
- 14:14Speaker 1: And I just love seeing people's reactions to this book,
- 14:17Speaker 1: getting to talk to, you know, fans, family, all these
- 14:21Speaker 1: different people. That's the best part, honestly. And then it's
- 14:25Speaker 1: really cool getting to show it to like people like
- 14:28Speaker 1: Dennis Cohen, who is somebody who I just admire on
- 14:32Speaker 1: a level, you know, unreal. And I got to gift
- 14:35Speaker 1: him with a book at the last. He's a writer who,
- 14:39Speaker 1: you know, is basically one of the milestone founders. everything
- 14:45Speaker 1: you know i cannot give him enough credit for like
- 14:49Speaker 1: i told him to face like blazing the trail this
- 14:51Speaker 1: book honestly my career none of this for all nerds
- 14:54Speaker 1: wouldn't be here without people like him right so it's
- 14:57Speaker 1: such an honor you know he was like oh you're
- 14:59Speaker 1: selling it i'm like bro this is you you know
- 15:01Speaker 1: there's no way i'm not giving you this book yeah
- 15:05Speaker 1: so that was really beautiful like last time at baltimore
- 15:08Speaker 1: i got to give art adams a copy and arthur
- 15:10Speaker 1: adams is If not my favorite artist of all time,
- 15:14Speaker 1: he's definitely in my top three. And I feel like
- 15:18Speaker 1: he doesn't get near enough credit when you talk about
- 15:20Speaker 1: the 90s and people like Todd McFarlane, Jim Lee, all
- 15:24Speaker 1: those types who get all that credit.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I feel like art influenced all of them.
- 15:28Speaker 1: And so last time I got to give him one,
- 15:30Speaker 1: and this time I saw him and he's telling me
- 15:32Speaker 1: how his son is reading it right now and he's
- 15:34Speaker 1: loving it.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Yeah, so that was amazing. You know what I mean?
- 15:38Speaker 2: And it was just so fire- moments like that.
- 15:41Speaker 1: And then just to top off all the just people who,
- 15:45Speaker 1: you know, I talked to whether or not they bought
- 15:47Speaker 1: the book, you know, they'd be like, Oh, this is dope.
- 15:49Speaker 2: I'm gonna get it later. I'm broke.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I can't get it right now. And then thank you
- 15:53Speaker 1: to everyone who did because it was unreal, like the
- 15:58Speaker 1: amount of people. And it's something that's really stunning to
- 16:00Speaker 1: me because the book is now two years old and
- 16:04Speaker 1: I sold more copies this weekend than I've done at
- 16:06Speaker 1: any con ever.
- 16:07Speaker 2: So, That's it.
- 16:08Speaker 1: It was it was unreal, man. Thank you. Like it was. Yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 1: I'm still in shock over a lot of it. Yeah.
- 16:16Speaker 4: And I also want to thank everybody, all the supporters
- 16:19Speaker 4: who came by. I mean, it was so many people
- 16:21Speaker 4: this year that came by the booth to say what's up,
- 16:24Speaker 4: to take pictures, to buy things, to just be in
- 16:28Speaker 4: good company with us. We appreciate you. I did want
- 16:30Speaker 4: to shout out a few of you guys. Latasha Richards, Breezy.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Dub Deuce. Thank you.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Shout out to Mark, who has been listening since the
- 16:39Speaker 1: Chico Leo days.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I blessed him with one of Luna's rings right here
- 16:44Speaker 1: because you deserve it.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Like, that's insane. You know? Yeah.
- 16:49Speaker 4: I mean, it was it was really incredible. And again,
- 16:53Speaker 4: it just just.
- 16:53Speaker 2: We don't take East Blue Drew.
- 16:55Speaker 1: He stopped by and he's a wild boy on YouTube.
- 16:58Speaker 1: But shout out to him.
- 16:59Speaker 4: We don't take anybody for granted or any of this
- 17:02Speaker 4: like support for granted whatsoever. So it really did. We
- 17:05Speaker 4: were telling you guys to your face, but it really
- 17:07Speaker 4: does and did mean a lot to us that you
- 17:09Speaker 4: actually stopped by and came through because like the energy
- 17:12Speaker 4: and the and the passion that you like lend to
- 17:16Speaker 4: us really matters for us as well.
- 17:18Speaker 3: I don't know if you shared your favorite thing.
- 17:21Speaker 5: I didn't share my favorite thing I'm impossible y'all I'm
- 17:24Speaker 5: so sorry like I'm generally I don't have favorites for
- 17:27Speaker 5: anything I don't have a favorite I don't have a
- 17:28Speaker 5: favorite anything but I have favorites and I think like
- 17:32Speaker 5: as an overall experience like as Ben was saying like
- 17:34Speaker 5: this is like probably one of my favorite years of
- 17:37Speaker 5: being at New York Comic Con There are different moments
- 17:40Speaker 5: that stand out to me that I just like really
- 17:42Speaker 5: am glad that I had. Being with the team, like
- 17:45Speaker 5: all the team and just like we all had our
- 17:47Speaker 5: own moments like with each other.
- 17:48Speaker 4: That was fun.
- 17:49Speaker 5: I think being able to spend time like really like
- 17:54Speaker 5: just interviewing so many different authors, it really kind of
- 17:56Speaker 5: came together well.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Out of like the last week or so.
- 18:00Speaker 5: And I knew that everyone was just kind of scrambling
- 18:02Speaker 5: and trying to get their con schedules together. And so
- 18:04Speaker 5: it was really nice for it all to come together.
- 18:06Speaker 5: I was able to speak to four different authors who
- 18:10Speaker 5: were just signing up tables or whatever, and they were
- 18:14Speaker 5: down to come do interviews afterwards. So I was so
- 18:16Speaker 5: grateful for them to being ready for like impromptu interview, like,
- 18:19Speaker 5: let's go, let's go do it. So stuff like that,
- 18:23Speaker 5: being on the floor and like, Checking it out. Because
- 18:27Speaker 5: every year New York Comic Con adjusts who's on the floor,
- 18:32Speaker 5: what they're doing, what's being presented. So being able to
- 18:34Speaker 5: see the changes and what's there now versus what used
- 18:37Speaker 5: to be is interesting.
- 18:39Speaker 4: I don't know if it's a favorite.
- 18:40Speaker 5: It's just like my brain appreciates change and seeing the adjustments.
- 18:48Speaker 5: And I think doing the battle board this year was,
- 18:51Speaker 5: I feel like, way more interactive and the fight board
- 18:56Speaker 5: is way more interactive than the previous years. Like Joel
- 18:58Speaker 5: and I had like a discussion about how like the
- 19:01Speaker 5: forum component of it became like the most fun part.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Like there'd be like, people would be like, well, I
- 19:07Speaker 4: don't know.
- 19:08Speaker 5: Like theoretically this person could do this, but he also
- 19:11Speaker 5: was once a God. And then they're like a whole, like,
- 19:13Speaker 5: instead of just being like talking to us about it,
- 19:16Speaker 5: then we start a community forum about the fight board.
- 19:19Speaker 4: And that was really fun.
- 19:20Speaker 5: And then that's how that, it got a lot of
- 19:22Speaker 5: engagement to, I think kept putting people to the, like,
- 19:25Speaker 5: The Instagram, like, if you want to see the fight boards,
- 19:27Speaker 5: come check it out. And so I got to know
- 19:29Speaker 5: a lot about, like, who is.
- 19:31Speaker 4: In the audience, what their opinions are at New York
- 19:34Speaker 4: Comic Con.
- 19:34Speaker 5: If you want to know those opinions, you can see
- 19:36Speaker 5: them in our stories or the final post we probably
- 19:39Speaker 5: will do for the fight board.
- 19:40Speaker 4: But it was, you know, it's very.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Intriguing and fun to know, like, as we're talking about
- 19:47Speaker 5: the passion of people in this place.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:50Speaker 5: We all know that we're here because we love certain
- 19:53Speaker 5: stuff that's going to be available to us at this
- 19:55Speaker 5: con and knowing that someone else shows your fervor for
- 19:59Speaker 5: something or even more so for something you're like because
- 20:02Speaker 5: like as we were at the Apothecary Diaries I was
- 20:04Speaker 5: like look I love to watch the anime, but do
- 20:08Speaker 5: I have the manga?
- 20:10Speaker 4: I don't. Do I have the light novels? I don't.
- 20:13Speaker 5: Do I know this one thing that was released two
- 20:17Speaker 5: years ago in Japan that was a limited edition drop?
- 20:20Speaker 4: I don't.
- 20:20Speaker 5: So as the different people around us were talking about
- 20:22Speaker 5: the figurines and stuff, I was like, oh, I'm a fan,
- 20:26Speaker 5: but I'm not that big of a fan, and that's okay.
- 20:28Speaker 4: And I know that exists for so many things.
- 20:30Speaker 5: I caught myself sometimes fanning out about something with someone else,
- 20:33Speaker 5: and they're kind of like, Okay. And I'm like, okay,
- 20:35Speaker 5: we're all here. We're all going to do that. We're
- 20:37Speaker 5: all going to have one thing that we're more into
- 20:38Speaker 5: than the other person. And we just kind of allow
- 20:41Speaker 5: each other to be big fans. And I think that's
- 20:42Speaker 5: the best part of the community aspect of like, we
- 20:45Speaker 5: don't all have to like be the same kind of
- 20:47Speaker 5: fan and we don't have to judge each other about
- 20:49Speaker 5: like what we're into. It's just all about like, let
- 20:52Speaker 5: me give each other space to just be who we are.
- 20:55Speaker 4: And I love that part.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I also want to say about the cosplay, because like
- 20:58Speaker 1: Tatiana said, and it's interesting now because I remember years ago,
- 21:03Speaker 1: when I saw somebody in an Invincible cosplay and I'm like,
- 21:05Speaker 1: you're Invincible. And he was like, thank you for knowing
- 21:07Speaker 1: who I am. You know, and now there's a million
- 21:10Speaker 1: Invincible cosplays. So now I'm still like, cause I love that,
- 21:15Speaker 1: you know, like, and even though I don't know anime,
- 21:17Speaker 1: I love like the most random comic book people and
- 21:20Speaker 1: stuff like that. So before Invincible was random, but now
- 21:23Speaker 1: he's not so random. But like this year I saw
- 21:25Speaker 1: a young woman in the Terra costume, who's a Teen
- 21:30Speaker 1: Titans villain, anti-hero or whatever. And it's straight from the comics, Tara.
- 21:35Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, you know, it's like little
- 21:37Speaker 1: details like that that were so good. And then just
- 21:40Speaker 1: all the random ones. Like, there was this Doctor Strange
- 21:44Speaker 1: who had Dormammu as a hand puppet. And he's going
- 21:47Speaker 1: around talking with the hand puppet as Dormammu and then
- 21:50Speaker 1: talking as Doctor Strange. And he's also had a woman
- 21:54Speaker 1: with him who's dressed as the Defender's Hellcat.
- 21:58Speaker 2: And it's like... She said, even she.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Said, I've only seen one other person do this cosplay.
- 22:03Speaker 1: So it's all those little ones that are just so
- 22:05Speaker 1: cool to me.
- 22:07Speaker 6: I love when people stick to the bits.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Oh, yes. Yeah, I like when people are in character.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Yes.
- 22:13Speaker 1: And they stay in it.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I love it. That Doctor Strange is Dormammu. He stayed
- 22:17Speaker 2: in it.
- 22:17Speaker 1: And shout out to this little kid who I called Asdralathus.
- 22:21Speaker 1: And he didn't want to wear his helmet because his
- 22:24Speaker 1: face had got scratched. And he was, I mean, so cute.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Like, so tiny.
- 22:28Speaker 1: And but when I started shooting him, he went from
- 22:30Speaker 1: smiling to, you know, gave.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Me a full Galactus.
- 22:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 1: And I was so happy I didn't fall out laughing
- 22:40Speaker 1: because it was so adorable.
- 22:42Speaker 2: That, you know.
- 22:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:43Speaker 4: I would say one of the other really important and
- 22:47Speaker 4: incredible things that happened was, again, just we mentioned just
- 22:50Speaker 4: meeting up with supporters and even people that we've interviewed already,
- 22:52Speaker 4: like shout out to Tony Weaver Jr., who stopped by
- 22:54Speaker 4: the table a couple of times, lent his support, talked
- 22:57Speaker 4: to him for a little bit. Big, big, big shout out.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Thank you. And graciousness to Josh Johnson at Josh Johnson
- 23:06Speaker 4: comedy on IG specifically. If you don't know who that is,
- 23:08Speaker 4: you might want to look him up. He is a
- 23:11Speaker 4: prolific comedian. A lot of people are having, are knowing
- 23:14Speaker 4: him now or, or getting to know him. He's been
- 23:17Speaker 4: a host. And I think intermittently is still a host
- 23:19Speaker 4: on a daily show amongst other things. And he, you know, we,
- 23:25Speaker 4: we reached out. I found out when I saw that
- 23:26Speaker 4: he was at comic-con, I was like, holy shh I'm
- 23:31Speaker 4: trying not to cuss uh can you please come by
- 23:33Speaker 4: the booth you know I dropped them a couple of
- 23:34Speaker 4: DMs and just said hey we're at D43 blah blah
- 23:37Speaker 4: blah and then literally it was like maybe five minutes
- 23:41Speaker 4: before he showed up I was talking to my Portia
- 23:43Speaker 4: I was talking to Portia and I was like Portia
- 23:44Speaker 4: you know I DMed them and I saw he had
- 23:46Speaker 4: three million followers I don't know if he gonna show
- 23:48Speaker 4: up right literally five minutes later, they pull up with
- 23:52Speaker 4: his people in tow and they're like, yeah, we were
- 23:54Speaker 4: looking for you.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I'm like, what?
- 23:55Speaker 4: So it was really great to see. Again, we always
- 23:59Speaker 4: tell everybody, but it's for real. Shoot your shot, right?
- 24:01Speaker 4: You never know. And the fact that he pulled up,
- 24:03Speaker 4: he's a very gracious person. He's very nice. He's very
- 24:07Speaker 4: open and interested in what other people are doing. And
- 24:10Speaker 4: he is a fan himself. He likes comics. He likes
- 24:13Speaker 4: everything in fandom. So he was literally going to to
- 24:17Speaker 4: Boots to support people buy the merch like I know
- 24:21Speaker 4: everybody we would try hey take this take that he
- 24:23Speaker 4: said no I actually want to buy it so he
- 24:24Speaker 4: bought it out of his own pocket right like got
- 24:27Speaker 4: his wallet and swipes right so Ben Amin got that
- 24:30Speaker 4: sale right so it's not only like Like, yes, he
- 24:33Speaker 4: could just show up because he's famous and be like,
- 24:35Speaker 4: you know, I'm here. Just give me your shit.
- 24:36Speaker 6: Right.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Sure.
- 24:37Speaker 4: But he wasn't he didn't do that. He insisted that
- 24:40Speaker 4: I'm going to support you financially as well as lend you.
- 24:43Speaker 4: And that's nothing. He lent us his platform. So if
- 24:45Speaker 4: you haven't seen it yet, he's already posted us a
- 24:48Speaker 4: couple of times. He posted Ben's book, Jimi Hendrix, Purple Haze.
- 24:51Speaker 4: He posted it just as his collage of books and
- 24:54Speaker 4: things that he bought. And he posted a brief interview
- 24:56Speaker 4: he did with both Ben Amin and myself there. that
- 24:59Speaker 4: featured both the graphic novel as well as for all nerds.
- 25:02Speaker 4: So that was huge for us. And again, just another
- 25:04Speaker 4: way for people to discover us, learn who we are,
- 25:07Speaker 4: learn what we do here. Everyone who's already watching us
- 25:09Speaker 4: know how lit it is over here. And this is
- 25:12Speaker 4: just the beginning. So thank you again to Josh.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Let me reiterate that. Right. I was texting Tatiana earlier.
- 25:21Speaker 1: It's kind of like when we record the show and,
- 25:22Speaker 1: you know, I'm always thinking of what's next and I'm
- 25:24Speaker 1: always thinking, So I don't realize things happen sometimes or
- 25:28Speaker 1: I forget things that I say on this show. And then,
- 25:31Speaker 1: you know, Josh Johnson comes over and he interviews us.
- 25:34Speaker 1: And then he goes on to interview. Shout out to
- 25:36Speaker 1: Stephen Harris and shout out to David Crowns and who
- 25:38Speaker 1: are two table mates and, you know, legends in their
- 25:41Speaker 1: own right. And so then he goes on and, you know,
- 25:44Speaker 1: I've seen him interviewing Steph Williams the day before and
- 25:46Speaker 1: all that. So I was like, OK, maybe a post
- 25:48Speaker 1: says maybe you won't, you know, move on. Got to
- 25:51Speaker 1: sell the next book. And then today when he does
- 25:54Speaker 1: post it, I'm just sitting there like, yo, what the fuck?
- 25:57Speaker 4: You know, like it happened and it happened quickly.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:00Speaker 2: And that's so cool.
- 26:02Speaker 1: And to see like, cause you know, we get a
- 26:05Speaker 1: lot of love from our community and our family and stuff,
- 26:07Speaker 1: but oftentimes there's a lot of people who are like
- 26:10Speaker 1: outside of our world and friends of mine who don't
- 26:13Speaker 1: really understand what we do over here or don't really
- 26:16Speaker 1: get it or don't see it even because it's just
- 26:18Speaker 1: not in their algorithm or whatever. But for somebody like
- 26:21Speaker 1: that to post it where I know everybody is going
- 26:23Speaker 1: to see it, you know, it's incredible. It's like when
- 26:26Speaker 1: Drake was, you know, I guess shining us out, dogging us, whatever.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Thanks, Drake. Yeah, I love it. You know, give me
- 26:34Speaker 2: all the strays in the world, Drake. Ayo, you know, but.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Like, I'm just saying, you know.
- 26:41Speaker 4: No, I get it. It's like, a look is a look, right? Like,
- 26:44Speaker 4: because my thing is once, regardless of how your entry
- 26:47Speaker 4: point was for us, the fact is once you hear
- 26:50Speaker 4: and you see, you experience foreigners, you're like, oh, they're dope.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Yeah it's impossible to resist so yeah that was just
- 26:58Speaker 1: amazing yo like absolutely amazing for you know him to
- 27:02Speaker 1: sit there and talk about jimmy andrews purple haze yeah
- 27:04Speaker 1: talk about for all nerds yeah for him to post
- 27:07Speaker 1: it you know is it's wild work man so you.
- 27:11Speaker 4: Know that's like 48 hours right less yeah yeah I
- 27:15Speaker 4: think that's probably what's getting you. So like, not only
- 27:18Speaker 4: did it like, like you, yes, you were late on
- 27:21Speaker 4: the uptake that it occurred.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Sure.
- 27:23Speaker 4: But the fact that the results of which of that
- 27:26Speaker 4: conversation of that interaction was immediate.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Right.
- 27:29Speaker 4: So it's also like that thing.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Like, you know, just because somebody interviews you does not
- 27:33Speaker 1: mean they're going to actually post it. You know, so
- 27:35Speaker 1: it wasn't like, I was, you know, I was like, okay,
- 27:37Speaker 1: that happened. Hopefully he posted, you know, and he's, he's
- 27:41Speaker 1: interviewing a mad people. You know, I'm like, how many
- 27:43Speaker 1: posts did he do about Comic-Con?
- 27:44Speaker 2: I don't know. So, We'll see.
- 27:46Speaker 1: And for him to post that like quick, you know,
- 27:49Speaker 1: was that's like really dope.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Really shout to you, man. Thank you so much.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Like cannot say thanks enough because that type of shit
- 27:58Speaker 1: is crazy. Like I said, I love seeing every person,
- 28:02Speaker 1: you know, but to see people who will bring us
- 28:04Speaker 1: to new people is really, you know, wonderful.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 28:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:09Speaker 3: So that's like everybody each other up because if you
- 28:12Speaker 3: think about it, the artists and the creators that we interview.
- 28:15Speaker 3: And so it's like, we're putting them on our platform.
- 28:18Speaker 3: And then Josh Johnson puts us on his platform. It's like,
- 28:22Speaker 3: they just, we just continue to all elevate each other.
- 28:26Speaker 4: That's the pyramid scheme I like.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:29Speaker 6: And I gotta say, I can't even imagine how excited
- 28:32Speaker 6: you guys were because I had, I had actually left
- 28:35Speaker 6: to go to the common side effects panel to see
- 28:39Speaker 6: the season two premiere.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Nice.
- 28:40Speaker 6: So, my phone, they like, they, you know, the phones
- 28:43Speaker 6: were not out, the phones were off. And I got
- 28:46Speaker 6: out to Tatiana's message that he had stopped by.
- 28:49Speaker 1: And I love Josh Johnson.
- 28:50Speaker 6: Like I saw him through the game changers, um, comedy
- 28:54Speaker 6: show or whatever. So like, literally I'm like, what, you know, like,
- 28:59Speaker 6: like I hit, I hit a Ric Flair on the
- 29:00Speaker 6: way out, you know? So I can't even imagine like
- 29:04Speaker 6: how exciting it was at the time. Like I just,
- 29:05Speaker 6: it just came out, you know?
- 29:06Speaker 1: So that was really cool.
- 29:08Speaker 2: It was shocking. It was like, he said, Dr. Adam,
- 29:10Speaker 2: when he walked up, it was like, oh, fuck.
- 29:13Speaker 4: Like, here he is. So Ben put on them shades
- 29:15Speaker 4: real quick. And like I said, Ben is so composed
- 29:18Speaker 4: and chill in the video. And me, admittedly, I was like, oh,
- 29:22Speaker 4: this is great.
- 29:22Speaker 1: I was having a great time.
- 29:24Speaker 4: I was excited. Like, ah, yeah, you know, the commercial
- 29:26Speaker 4: is on, right? So... It was just so funny rewatching that.
- 29:31Speaker 4: And again, just re-experiencing that when Josh reposted it, just
- 29:34Speaker 4: because again, I just got so excited. like people are
- 29:37Speaker 4: gonna see us people are gonna learn about us and
- 29:40Speaker 4: learn about this whole crew and what we do here
- 29:43Speaker 4: and now you're gonna be even more tuned in than
- 29:46Speaker 4: you already were right like i i just i get
- 29:48Speaker 4: just blessings find blessings this year And.
- 29:51Speaker 5: You can't say more about Josh's team, too. Like, they
- 29:54Speaker 5: were so nice to talk to. Like, they were just, like, friendly. And, like,
- 29:57Speaker 5: Josh was, like, the whole energy. Like, that one finding
- 30:01Speaker 5: out that it was real as it is conveyed, like,
- 30:03Speaker 5: whenever you see him online, like, in person. And then
- 30:07Speaker 5: that's the kind of energy he has with the people
- 30:09Speaker 5: with him as well. Like, you love to see that
- 30:11Speaker 5: kind of stuff. And I feel like that's also kind of, like,
- 30:13Speaker 5: what's going on with We're all nerds, right? Like, if
- 30:15Speaker 5: y'all met us, y'all met, like, us. You didn't meet, like,
- 30:18Speaker 5: a fake facade of us. We are exactly who we
- 30:21Speaker 5: say we are, how we present to be online.
- 30:23Speaker 4: You don't know all our biz. You never know everyone's biz. Like,
- 30:26Speaker 4: you know, like, don't be parasocial. Don't do that. But,
- 30:30Speaker 4: you know, like, that is a real thing.
- 30:32Speaker 5: So I think, like, every time you meet a creator
- 30:34Speaker 5: that gives, like, that who is exactly who you think
- 30:37Speaker 5: they are, you kind of appreciate that.
- 30:38Speaker 4: Because you don't want to be... supporting someone who is
- 30:43Speaker 4: actually the.
- 30:44Speaker 5: Opposite or like have built up this opinion about someone
- 30:48Speaker 5: or something that is going on and then be find
- 30:50Speaker 5: out later that it was not worth like the support
- 30:52Speaker 5: or the effort. So I really appreciate anytime that kind
- 30:55Speaker 5: of energy, that authenticity and like he genuinely just is
- 30:59Speaker 5: like effusive and like his team is also like, that
- 31:02Speaker 5: was also just really great. I want to, before I,
- 31:05Speaker 5: I forgot my favorite moment. One of the authors that
- 31:08Speaker 5: I interviewed, I've loved her debut trilogy, Chelsea Abdullah. And
- 31:12Speaker 5: she offered, when I told her my book premise that
- 31:15Speaker 5: I'm working on, she offered to be my blurb. And
- 31:18Speaker 5: I was like, oh my God! So now I have
- 31:22Speaker 5: a blurb for whenever I finally get a book out
- 31:25Speaker 5: and publish it. So that was really endearing and heartwarming
- 31:28Speaker 5: for me.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Oh, that's amazing. I love that.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:31Speaker 2: That is. That's wonderful.
- 31:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it just reminds me just... even from
- 31:37Speaker 4: the very first time I attended New York Comic Con,
- 31:39Speaker 4: New York Comic Con is also about connection. And it's
- 31:41Speaker 4: about connections in lots of different ways. It's about connections
- 31:44Speaker 4: in terms of what your personal dreams may be, connection
- 31:47Speaker 4: with people who like the things you like, or the
- 31:49Speaker 4: things that you've never seen before in your life. You
- 31:51Speaker 4: get to connect to it and learn about it and
- 31:53Speaker 4: become a new fan. I'm a new fan of Carl, right? Like,
- 31:57Speaker 4: you know, in the whole Dungeons and Dragons, like Luna
- 31:59Speaker 4: put me onto that. So, I just think that I
- 32:03Speaker 4: love to hear that, Portia, because, again, it's just more
- 32:06Speaker 4: of what we try to speak about on this podcast.
- 32:10Speaker 4: especially if you're a creator, putting yourself out there as
- 32:13Speaker 4: hard as that may be and putting yourself in the
- 32:16Speaker 4: vicinity of like-minded people, reaching out, saying hello, right? You
- 32:20Speaker 4: don't have to have everything together to get started, right? Like,
- 32:25Speaker 4: you know, do it scared. Like, rest in peace, Jazz Fly. Like,
- 32:29Speaker 4: just do it. Just get it done, get it out there,
- 32:31Speaker 4: and you never know what can come of it. And
- 32:34Speaker 4: I think that is, again, another just really beautiful reason
- 32:37Speaker 4: why we still attend your Comic-Con.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Yeah you never realize like how big the impact of
- 32:43Speaker 3: even just a small connection can be yeah it's something
- 32:46Speaker 3: that i've always loved about i've owned this on my
- 32:49Speaker 3: third year but even those like small interactions that i've
- 32:51Speaker 3: had it's it's always so um important to me when
- 32:54Speaker 3: like people remember me like when i like just seen
- 32:57Speaker 3: genicia and like oh i only had that person and
- 33:00Speaker 3: like she still remembers me every time even like it
- 33:02Speaker 3: trips me out when i was walking on the show
- 33:03Speaker 3: floor and i saw steph and she was like oh
- 33:05Speaker 3: hey like how are you doing gave me a hug
- 33:07Speaker 3: and everything so it's like Even those small connections, even
- 33:10Speaker 3: though you don't think they're that significant, people latch on
- 33:12Speaker 3: to that. People remember that. Like, you continue to see
- 33:15Speaker 3: these people in these spaces, and so you can continue
- 33:18Speaker 3: to build those relationships as well.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I gotta say, this is so weird.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Like, I love meeting people, and at the end of
- 33:24Speaker 1: the con, there was this person, Siobhan, I think their
- 33:26Speaker 1: name is.
- 33:26Speaker 4: And they were sitting.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Across from us at the end, and we were all
- 33:31Speaker 1: standing up there, and I didn't speak to them, so
- 33:32Speaker 1: if you're listening, I'm so freaking sorry, and I've been
- 33:35Speaker 1: thinking about it since, because We had a great interaction
- 33:37Speaker 1: when you were talking about the book and everything. And
- 33:39Speaker 1: at that point, I was just freaking exhausted. And I
- 33:42Speaker 1: just had no social energy left. But I really loved you.
- 33:45Speaker 1: You were such an awesome person. And like I say,
- 33:48Speaker 1: I can't talk enough about that. Because it's like sitting
- 33:52Speaker 1: there talking to people about the book and them being interested.
- 33:56Speaker 1: And then all these two twins came by, I think, Thursday.
- 34:00Speaker 1: And they were in a cosplay. I didn't know what
- 34:02Speaker 1: they were. But while we're taking pictures, people are shouting
- 34:05Speaker 1: them out. So they look great. And they were just,
- 34:07Speaker 1: you know, these two short little women and so hype
- 34:11Speaker 1: about the book. And then on Sunday, one of them
- 34:14Speaker 1: came back. They said their other twin had to work
- 34:17Speaker 1: and they were Guy Gardner that day. And they were like, yo, yo,
- 34:20Speaker 1: it's a dope Guy Gardner too. I got them on video, everything.
- 34:23Speaker 1: And they were like, oh, I started a book and
- 34:27Speaker 1: it's awesome. You know, she was so hype. And so
- 34:30Speaker 1: that was just amazing. I was like, please hit me
- 34:32Speaker 1: up when you finish. And they told me they would.
- 34:34Speaker 1: And So it's just stuff like that is so cool, man.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Like I can never get enough of that. Like I
- 34:42Speaker 1: want to write more. And on that note, shout to
- 34:45Speaker 1: Steph Williams. Like I've always said this, I will punch
- 34:49Speaker 1: people in the mouth over this woman, Rachel Sawyer, same thing. Like,
- 34:53Speaker 1: you know, they really made some moves for me this
- 34:56Speaker 1: weekend that I'll be forever grateful for. They've been in
- 35:00Speaker 1: my corner helping me out a lot over the last
- 35:03Speaker 1: few months and year. And, like, life-changing shit that was just....
- 35:11Speaker 2: And, like, Regine, it's like.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Their selflessness is really hard to, you know, get past, like,
- 35:17Speaker 1: for me, where I'm like, God damn, like, that's some.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Y'all are both such amazing people, you know?
- 35:23Speaker 1: Because I even said to Regine, I was like, I
- 35:25Speaker 1: don't want to step on any toes here. And she's like, Ben,
- 35:28Speaker 1: all this happened simultaneously.
- 35:30Speaker 2: You know what I mean? We all get... We all
- 35:32Speaker 2: gonna eat. Yeah.
- 35:34Speaker 1: And that's just, you know, I'm trying not to cry
- 35:38Speaker 1: right now because it's so.
- 35:40Speaker 4: That's why I can't look at you.
- 35:42Speaker 2: It's so unreal, man.
- 35:44Speaker 4: It's very special.
- 35:46Speaker 5: And I feel like that's something that I really appreciate
- 35:48Speaker 5: that you and Tatiana have developed here is that like, I,
- 35:51Speaker 5: y'all have had these relationships with these people for such
- 35:54Speaker 5: a long time. And so like, like, and including us
- 35:57Speaker 5: and like, and bringing them in and us getting all
- 35:59Speaker 5: getting to know them as well. Like, Um, they are, like,
- 36:02Speaker 5: we're seeing the extension of, like, love and, like, connectivity
- 36:06Speaker 5: that these, that you've already established. And they're, how they're
- 36:09Speaker 5: building out space for y'all and y'all are building out
- 36:11Speaker 5: space for them. And it all comes together. It's just,
- 36:13Speaker 5: it's all community. And there's no, like, second guessing. So, like,
- 36:16Speaker 5: Joel being recognized by Janicia or Steph, of course, like,
- 36:20Speaker 5: of course, of course you were. Because, like, that's who
- 36:23Speaker 5: this community is, right? Like, this is who we all are.
- 36:26Speaker 5: We're all adding to each other, right? We're all opening
- 36:29Speaker 5: space for each other. We're like one step closer to any,
- 36:31Speaker 5: for one person is for everyone. Like we're all looking
- 36:34Speaker 5: for each other here. So I really just, I love
- 36:36Speaker 5: that all.
- 36:36Speaker 4: I met some people.
- 36:39Speaker 5: As I was in the press room and different folks
- 36:42Speaker 5: from library stuff to other podcasts and Pink Riot, and
- 36:47Speaker 5: I was like, I heard Ben talk about Pink Riot before,
- 36:50Speaker 5: didn't know who that was, and I met them.
- 36:51Speaker 4: And I was like, oh, this is so cool. I
- 36:53Speaker 4: met Bri. And I'm like, okay.
- 36:54Speaker 5: So it was just meeting the people that I've been
- 36:57Speaker 5: hearing about and seeing that, again, those relationships have been
- 37:01Speaker 5: established and just deepening it a little bit or having
- 37:04Speaker 5: a bit more understanding of it. It feels like we're
- 37:08Speaker 5: It's like we're building something, but the something isn't necessarily undefined.
- 37:11Speaker 5: It's just that its community is the blanket word. And
- 37:15Speaker 5: how it shows up for us is how it's going
- 37:18Speaker 5: to show up for us. And I love that we
- 37:19Speaker 5: can see that every time we network. Network doesn't have
- 37:22Speaker 5: to be such a nasty.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Awful word.
- 37:25Speaker 4: It can actually be really good. I also want to
- 37:28Speaker 4: make sure I give a shout out to Jonathan and
- 37:31Speaker 4: Kevin C. Those are our boys, the twins. They always,
- 37:37Speaker 4: every year, come through with the cosplay, with the activation themselves. Like,
- 37:42Speaker 4: And I just, off a whim... Stuntin' on them. I
- 37:45Speaker 4: just happened to walk... Like, I was literally thinking about Kevin.
- 37:48Speaker 2: I was so happy you saw them.
- 37:49Speaker 4: Kevin, Jonathan, I was literally thinking about y'all for, like,
- 37:51Speaker 4: two days straight. Like, where are they? Where are they?
- 37:54Speaker 4: And we were doing cosplay interviews upstairs, and I almost
- 37:57Speaker 4: was back at the booth, and then I said, wait
- 37:59Speaker 4: a minute!
- 38:01Speaker 2: Is that them?
- 38:02Speaker 4: And I said, wait up! And I started yelling and screaming.
- 38:04Speaker 4: They were like, what's up? So... uh, again, just, I
- 38:07Speaker 4: love y'all so much and it really matters that y'all
- 38:10Speaker 4: are there and y'all are, y'all are existing and out there.
- 38:14Speaker 4: And again, not stopping, always doing a thing like that
- 38:17Speaker 4: matters so much.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Yeah. Especially Kevin.
- 38:19Speaker 1: He sent me a long message, a long voice memo
- 38:22Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago. And I know he had
- 38:23Speaker 1: like a really rough summer. His mother was ill and
- 38:26Speaker 1: she's doing better now.
- 38:27Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Shout out to them. And it was, you know, it's like,
- 38:32Speaker 1: And there, you know, he's so apologetic and stuff. And
- 38:34Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, bro, you know, life, life. And, you know,
- 38:37Speaker 1: I get it, you know, and I know your fam
- 38:39Speaker 1: and your community and we love you. And like I say,
- 38:42Speaker 1: I'm just all, cause I know they missed. Cause even
- 38:45Speaker 1: one year he missed in the last three years, they
- 38:47Speaker 1: both missed it. And they hit me up like, Oh,
- 38:49Speaker 1: we missed it. We're so sorry. And I'm like, yo, bro.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Cause they're like, you know, we can't make it. And
- 38:53Speaker 1: I'm like, don't be sorry to me. I'm just happy
- 38:55Speaker 1: you're here. And you know, you'll be back next year.
- 38:57Speaker 1: And they were here this year. So I was happy
- 38:59Speaker 1: to see them in the mix. doing their thing, stunting
- 39:02Speaker 1: on them with their cosplays as always. I know they
- 39:05Speaker 1: had two straight days of fire, so shout out to y'all.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Love y'all so much, man, for real.
- 39:12Speaker 5: One last note is never underestimate how much appreciating somebody
- 39:16Speaker 5: to their face means.
- 39:18Speaker 4: That's something I noticed.
- 39:19Speaker 5: Each time we gave love for a cosplay or anything,
- 39:23Speaker 5: like anything, it was it was so deeply appreciated. Even
- 39:27Speaker 5: just listening to people sometimes that we could see they
- 39:29Speaker 5: were very appreciative, just to be able to have a conversation.
- 39:31Speaker 4: I saw a Brienne of Tarth that was like crazy good.
- 39:36Speaker 4: So good, Brianna.
- 39:37Speaker 5: I captured it. I want to put it to the
- 39:39Speaker 5: thing in the Dropbox. But it was so good. And
- 39:43Speaker 5: it looked comfortable, too. And she admittedly, she's like, yeah,
- 39:45Speaker 5: sometimes I sleep in it.
- 39:46Speaker 4: I was like, it looks like you just sleep in it.
- 39:48Speaker 4: It was so good. And I was like, did you
- 39:50Speaker 4: make it yourself? And they were like, yeah. And I
- 39:52Speaker 4: was just like, oh, my God.
- 39:54Speaker 5: So... just she was like effusive. They were like very
- 39:59Speaker 5: thoughtful about it all. And whenever I kept saying like,
- 40:02Speaker 5: it's so good. Like the textile work is good. The
- 40:05Speaker 5: embroidery is good. Like every component of this is good.
- 40:08Speaker 5: And they're like, thank you so much. Like, I just
- 40:11Speaker 5: wear this costume and it's really nice that someone actually
- 40:13Speaker 5: appreciates like all the work that I put.
- 40:15Speaker 4: Into this thing.
- 40:15Speaker 5: And it's like, everyone there is doing a lot of
- 40:18Speaker 5: work to be there. If they're in an artist's alley,
- 40:21Speaker 5: they did a lot of work to be there. If
- 40:24Speaker 5: they're one of the press or content creators, they did
- 40:27Speaker 5: a lot of work to be there. If they are
- 40:31Speaker 5: security staff, they did a lot of work to be
- 40:33Speaker 5: there and also make sure everyone is safe there. If
- 40:37Speaker 5: you're there at the con, you're flying in from all
- 40:40Speaker 5: over the place. You're doing a lot just to be there.
- 40:42Speaker 5: And so I think that's why the energy means so
- 40:45Speaker 5: much because it's like we all, you sacrifice something. just
- 40:50Speaker 5: to be able to show up and present yourself in
- 40:52Speaker 5: this space. And that means something. So to be able
- 40:54Speaker 5: to like, just give a little bit of love along
- 40:56Speaker 5: the way means so much. And like, you can see
- 40:58Speaker 5: it a lot.
- 40:59Speaker 2: Of the time.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Shout out to the security staff who was there every morning,
- 41:03Speaker 1: asked him where the fight board was at. And y'all
- 41:07Speaker 1: hadn't set it up yet.
- 41:08Speaker 3: She was a recommendation for a versus from her. So
- 41:14Speaker 3: shout out to her.
- 41:15Speaker 4: For all nerds brings the people together for real.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Yeah. And that's so beautiful. Like y'all said, seeing the
- 41:22Speaker 1: I don't want to say community, but debates that developed
- 41:25Speaker 1: around the fight board.
- 41:26Speaker 4: Oh my goodness. The fight board was too popular. I
- 41:29Speaker 4: was like, where are all these people coming from? Joe
- 41:31Speaker 4: called them the forum.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Like we had a fight board forum.
- 41:36Speaker 4: So, you know, definitely something we're going to bring back
- 41:39Speaker 4: and later, you know, as we go forward, it's going
- 41:41Speaker 4: to be digitally. We're going to, we're going to keep
- 41:45Speaker 4: building this out to be, you know, even bigger, even better.
- 41:48Speaker 4: So thank you everybody.
- 41:50Speaker 6: Those crowds went from two people talking to 20 people.
- 41:55Speaker 4: Literally 20 people arguing deeply over the virtues of, you know,
- 42:00Speaker 4: Gandalf the White versus whoever he was against.
- 42:02Speaker 2: That was the one for me. Gandalf versus Darth Vader
- 42:04Speaker 2: was tough.
- 42:05Speaker 4: Darth Vader, yeah.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Like, I voted for Gandalf and then immediately regretted my vote.
- 42:09Speaker 5: Like.
- 42:11Speaker 4: Because once you heard the arguments, people was like, oh,
- 42:14Speaker 4: I didn't even think about that.
- 42:15Speaker 1: It's more because I haven't read the books. And in
- 42:17Speaker 1: the movies, Gandalf's powers are so ill-defined. You know, he
- 42:20Speaker 1: like shows up, he waves his wand, and everybody's like, ah!
- 42:25Speaker 1: But I feel like that ain't gonna work on Darth Vader.
- 42:26Speaker 1: You know, I feel like that, ah, and he can
- 42:28Speaker 1: be like, uh, choke step, you know. And you know
- 42:30Speaker 1: what's so funny?
- 42:31Speaker 6: It's like, we would have these conversations, and we would
- 42:33Speaker 6: adjust in real time and be like, movie Gandalf.
- 42:36Speaker 2: You know, like.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Right, right, right.
- 42:38Speaker 4: Because people would ask, well, which one are you referring to?
- 42:40Speaker 4: The ultimate link.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:43Speaker 4: Like, you know.
- 42:43Speaker 3: We had write-in votes. We had Beyoncé versus K-pop D.O.P.
- 42:48Speaker 3: And there was a write-in for Rihanna. And you're like.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Yeah, there was a few write-ins on that that I
- 42:54Speaker 1: won't name, but I was like, nah, I'm not going
- 42:55Speaker 1: to disrespect that.
- 42:56Speaker 6: Anyone else on the fight board get completely smoked Powerpuff Girls.
- 43:00Speaker 2: Versus the Viltrumites.
- 43:02Speaker 1: The Viltrumites had a good seven votes.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, that was deservedly so.
- 43:08Speaker 4: But it wasn't just Viltrumites. It was literally all the Viltrumites.
- 43:11Speaker 2: It don't matter. It's the Powerpuff Girls.
- 43:13Speaker 4: They said, nope.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Nah. They came up and said, is Bubbles mad?
- 43:17Speaker 4: Yeah, and we said, Bubbles is mad.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Yes, it's over.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Bubbles is mad.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Them little girls is demons. Like, no, I'm not. Bubbles
- 43:23Speaker 2: is taking 50 rounds.
- 43:24Speaker 1: For real.
- 43:25Speaker 2: For real.
- 43:26Speaker 4: Bubble Solos are sisters. Bubble Solos sisters and then the Viltrumines,
- 43:31Speaker 4: you know?
- 43:31Speaker 5: You said Batman versus Mamdani, but also, like, wasn't Katara
- 43:34Speaker 5: versus Iceman also kind of a suite?
- 43:37Speaker 4: Yeah. Which is wild because I'm like, y'all are doing
- 43:41Speaker 4: a popularity contest at this point. Katara can bloodbend.
- 43:46Speaker 2: Iceman's an Omega mutant, but he's a sucker.
- 43:49Speaker 1: And, like, I'm rereading so many X-Men books and in
- 43:52Speaker 1: so many runs, He is just never, like, he's an
- 43:55Speaker 1: Omega Mutant, and it's always, I finally made it. He's
- 43:59Speaker 1: always been a sucker.
- 44:00Speaker 2: No, it's always, it's.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Always like, I finally made it. Like, 15 years of,
- 44:04Speaker 1: I finally made it. You know, he's like, now I'm ready. Oh,
- 44:06Speaker 1: he's one of those.
- 44:07Speaker 4: You know, Katara knew she was that girl from the
- 44:10Speaker 4: beginning and kept being that girl.
- 44:12Speaker 3: It was, like, very generational differences. Because, like, all the
- 44:15Speaker 3: younger kids who, like, are big Avatar fans were all
- 44:18Speaker 3: voting for Katara. But then it's like, their parents were like.
- 44:21Speaker 1: You don't know what that's meant.
- 44:23Speaker 4: You don't know war.
- 44:25Speaker 1: I voted for Katara. Like, I barely know who she is.
- 44:29Speaker 1: And I was like, Iceman, he's a loser.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Like, sorry.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Sorry, fam. Like, he's losing against most anybody.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:36Speaker 5: I think the biggest generational gap showed with the Wonder
- 44:38Speaker 5: Woman versus... Captain Marvel.
- 44:41Speaker 4: Captain Marvel.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Because.
- 44:44Speaker 5: um there were it was a lot of men who
- 44:46Speaker 5: had very formative experiences with linda carter who were like
- 44:49Speaker 5: oh it's gotta be wonder woman.
- 44:50Speaker 1: I say wonder woman because she's a god because she
- 44:55Speaker 1: cuts people you know like because she ain't to be
- 44:58Speaker 1: played with but then somebody did point out that you
- 45:04Speaker 1: know catamarva could sit in space and laser her from
- 45:07Speaker 1: space so it's like.
- 45:08Speaker 4: That's i'm like.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Debatable. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know on that one.
- 45:12Speaker 1: It was a good one. Wonder Woman got invisible jets.
- 45:15Speaker 1: You know, she got ways and means. Yeah, yeah. I'm
- 45:18Speaker 1: not putting anything past Wonder Woman.
- 45:20Speaker 4: You just mentioned it, Portia. Shout out to Mom Donnie
- 45:22Speaker 4: who handedly beat Batman. I wanted to definitely mention that. Yeah.
- 45:25Speaker 4: It wasn't even a contest.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that was the second time I seen that go
- 45:29Speaker 1: down because at Baltimore, we ran that same one at
- 45:31Speaker 1: Mom Donnie.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Even in Baltimore... whooped on batman with.
- 45:34Speaker 1: No problem yeah even baltimore.
- 45:38Speaker 5: They're like we're a different city but we ain't haters.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Yeah we ain't now we understand who's winning this billionaires
- 45:44Speaker 1: going down yeah that was pretty much their same sentiment
- 45:47Speaker 1: in baltimore boy yeah so shout out to that shout
- 45:50Speaker 1: out to mom donnie always yeah we needed to do
- 45:53Speaker 1: a nicks versus someone boy it's gonna be a team Yeah, now, like,
- 45:58Speaker 1: Knicks versus... The Fantastic Four? Now they're washing them. You
- 46:02Speaker 1: got to go, like, Justice League. You know, somebody's got power.
- 46:05Speaker 4: You're saying the Knicks are washing the Fantastic Four?
- 46:07Speaker 2: Yes, I think the Knicks are washing the Justice League.
- 46:11Speaker 2: In 2026, it's tough.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Especially at New York Comic Con, the Knicks are washing everyone.
- 46:18Speaker 2: Like, I can't imagine, you.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Know, Powerpuff Girls might get washed.
- 46:24Speaker 4: You said the Monstars?
- 46:25Speaker 1: The Knicks versus the Monstars.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Definitely watching the Monstars.
- 46:26Speaker 4: That'd be hilarious.
- 46:28Speaker 1: I would love to see that one.
- 46:30Speaker 2: Who is Jordan's team? What were they called?
- 46:32Speaker 1: The Toon Squad?
- 46:34Speaker 2: Yeah, they might watch the Toon Squad. Wow. That's a battle, though.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Even with Toon Magic?
- 46:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and Jordan.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:44Speaker 2: That would be one, boy. That would have had people tied.
- 46:47Speaker 1: You should put a poll out for that one. You
- 46:49Speaker 1: would have people tied. What about Michael Jordan? I'll do
- 46:53Speaker 1: that during the live. What about Michael.
- 46:54Speaker 4: Jordan Space Jam versus LeBron Space Jam? Those two. Don't
- 47:00Speaker 4: even talk about it. Not the movie. Let me be clear.
- 47:03Speaker 1: I try and give LeBron all the love, but no.
- 47:06Speaker 3: We don't talk about Space Jam.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't talk about that LeBron movie. I even
- 47:09Speaker 2: watched it. I don't even know. I did.
- 47:15Speaker 4: That's why I said I might be talking about the movie.
- 47:17Speaker 4: We're not going to compare that, but the teams.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Is Bugs on this team too?
- 47:22Speaker 1: How's that going to work?
- 47:24Speaker 4: It's cool magic, man.
- 47:26Speaker 2: I'm taking old Bugs. I'm taking old Bugs every time.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Not digitally rendered Bugs.
- 47:31Speaker 2: No.
- 47:33Speaker 4: Look at us. Fight boarding once again.
- 47:35Speaker 3: You can't let go of it.
- 47:37Speaker 1: You can't escape the fight board.
- 47:40Speaker 6: I really love that one Magneto versus Toph. And that
- 47:44Speaker 6: one person came up and said, well, first Magneto is
- 47:46Speaker 6: going to try to recruit her.
- 47:47Speaker 3: And I said, well.
- 47:52Speaker 6: Magneto is just going to spend time talking and trying
- 47:54Speaker 6: to get her on the team.
- 47:55Speaker 1: You're not wrong.
- 48:00Speaker 5: Especially like grandma's Toph, like old lady Toph.
- 48:04Speaker 1: That is so, that's a great withdrawal because shout out
- 48:08Speaker 1: to the person who came up. It was, oh man,
- 48:10Speaker 1: I can't remember the brother's name. It was him and
- 48:12Speaker 1: his wife. And they walk up and he's wearing Gucci shades,
- 48:16Speaker 1: first off. And so his wife is like, let me
- 48:18Speaker 1: tell you, he's a soccer coach and all his kids
- 48:22Speaker 1: call him Gucci man. So we need the Gucci Mandalorian shirt,
- 48:26Speaker 1: first of all. And then he sees the Magneto is right.
- 48:30Speaker 1: And this brother starts screaming about how he was telling
- 48:33Speaker 1: his wife on the way up there that Magneto is right.
- 48:37Speaker 2: And on the.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Drive up there, unbeknownst to the shirt, he is screaming
- 48:41Speaker 1: about how Magneto is right. And he said that same
- 48:44Speaker 1: line about God amongst incense and all this stuff and
- 48:47Speaker 1: how Magneto is and he already is who he is.
- 48:50Speaker 2: And he was just going off and his wife was like, yeah,
- 48:52Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying?
- 48:52Speaker 1: I know his wife was sitting there like, But at
- 48:55Speaker 1: the same time, she was like, I'm buying these shirts
- 48:58Speaker 1: for him because he needs them.
- 48:59Speaker 4: That's a good wife.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:01Speaker 5: But it also sounds like the booth was made for him.
- 49:03Speaker 5: He was manifesting his opportunity to come by.
- 49:07Speaker 1: That was the craziest shit to me. Like you said,
- 49:10Speaker 1: we are just non-player characters in this man's life. His
- 49:16Speaker 1: shit straight manifested what he needed.
- 49:19Speaker 3: This is the final point in his five-point thesis.
- 49:21Speaker 5: At some point, he's going to say, dunk an egg,
- 49:24Speaker 5: and it's like, uh-huh.
- 49:25Speaker 4: Like, the world is dynamically generating as he's thinking of things,
- 49:28Speaker 4: and it's like, here we are. You know?
- 49:31Speaker 2: Straight up.
- 49:33Speaker 1: We are just bits in the ether at first, and
- 49:35Speaker 1: then it's like, he walks up and just.
- 49:37Speaker 2: Yeah. You know? Would you like to.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Buy a shirt? Yeah, would you like to buy a shirt?
- 49:42Speaker 2: Jimmy Hedges in space.
- 49:46Speaker 4: The world is yours.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Where'd this chat bubble come from, you know?
- 49:52Speaker 4: We're going to kill Ben. Calm down. He's sick and
- 49:55Speaker 4: we're about to take him out.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Drink your tea, Ben.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 50:01Speaker 4: He's saying drink your tea.
- 50:02Speaker 5: Ben is reminding me of The Walking Dead when they
- 50:05Speaker 5: told the girl to look at the flowers.
- 50:06Speaker 4: Go look at the flowers.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Oh, no. No, no.
- 50:11Speaker 4: Was it Lizzie?
- 50:12Speaker 5: Yeah. No.
- 50:13Speaker 2: Man.
- 50:15Speaker 1: And that always reminds me of the fact that in
- 50:18Speaker 1: maybe first or second grade, My drama teacher had me
- 50:21Speaker 1: portray Of Mice and Men, and we did the scene
- 50:25Speaker 1: on stage during a, you know, like, nighttime play production
- 50:29Speaker 1: of me shooting an older kid in the back of
- 50:31Speaker 1: the head.
- 50:32Speaker 2: That's how Of Mice and Men ends. So, yeah.
- 50:35Speaker 4: Wow.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Yeah, like, first and second grade, I promise you.
- 50:38Speaker 4: Wow. That's much too young for that, but okay. And
- 50:41Speaker 4: first and second grade, we did Lion King.
- 50:43Speaker 2: I know. I'm over there shooting a fifth grader in
- 50:45Speaker 2: the back of the head. Yeah. Theater, you know?
- 50:49Speaker 1: I mean, let me tell you, I love the role, but,
- 50:52Speaker 1: you know, looking back, it was a bit excessive. Very extreme.
- 50:56Speaker 6: That's wild.
- 50:57Speaker 1: The Vision Quest will be up this week. Marvel did
- 51:02Speaker 1: announce that it's coming out a day early, so our
- 51:05Speaker 1: review will probably be a day late.
- 51:07Speaker 2: We wasn't prepared for that. Yeah, look.
- 51:10Speaker 1: I'll be honest with y'all. Y'all probably get something, though.
- 51:13Speaker 1: I'll probably do a quick review of something so we
- 51:15Speaker 1: have something up right away so y'all know how we
- 51:17Speaker 1: feel about it.
- 51:18Speaker 2: Some other news.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Marvel talked about Marvel Zombies coming out for the next
- 51:22Speaker 1: few years.
- 51:22Speaker 3: Yes.
- 51:24Speaker 2: We can't get a Blade movie. Why?
- 51:26Speaker 4: I would much rather animated Blade than no Blade.
- 51:29Speaker 5: I would rather animated Blade than Marvel Zombies.
- 51:33Speaker 4: Anything. Anything else that's coming out, I don't... Where is Blade?
- 51:36Speaker 4: Why can't we have him?
- 51:37Speaker 2: Where is Blade?
- 51:39Speaker 1: On that note, though, shout out to Chris Lamberth, because
- 51:42Speaker 1: him and I recorded a video review of this, and
- 51:44Speaker 1: I did not get a chance to edit it, and
- 51:47Speaker 1: I might have to re-record because it's late now, but
- 51:50Speaker 1: please go see Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother, which
- 51:53Speaker 1: will be in wide release this weekend by Bassam Tariq,
- 51:57Speaker 1: starring Mahershala Ali. It's fantastic, y'all. Like, it's one of
- 52:03Speaker 1: those films that you need to see. I don't know
- 52:05Speaker 1: about theaters, but, you know, supporting the theaters you can.
- 52:08Speaker 1: But it's definitely one of my favorite films of the year.
- 52:11Speaker 1: And one of those films that it's like, you will
- 52:13Speaker 1: never expect how it is. That's how I can, that's
- 52:15Speaker 1: all I can say about that. It's one of those
- 52:17Speaker 1: endings where I've been thinking about ever since And I
- 52:20Speaker 1: think it's so beautiful and such an ill message and such.
- 52:24Speaker 2: A risk taking.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Like I went to a screening where Bassam was there
- 52:28Speaker 1: and a lot of the questions were about the ending and,
- 52:30Speaker 1: you know, what it all means and everything. And I
- 52:33Speaker 1: thought it was really brave of him. And to be
- 52:36Speaker 1: able to stand through what I know were numerous notes
- 52:39Speaker 1: from all kinds of studios and all kinds of people
- 52:41Speaker 1: and to say, no, I'm sticking to this message. that
- 52:44Speaker 1: in this action movie, this is how we're going to
- 52:45Speaker 1: end it. And the message that goes along with that
- 52:48Speaker 1: is really ill. And if you want some fire action,
- 52:50Speaker 1: let me tell you, that movie has it, boy. Mahershala
- 52:53Speaker 1: puts in work. Like, man, I'm like, it made me, like,
- 52:58Speaker 1: I walked out of it and I think I texted
- 53:00Speaker 1: in the group chat.
- 53:01Speaker 2: I was like, you know, Marvel fumbled. Yeah.
- 53:03Speaker 1: Because we could have had a blade with these two
- 53:05Speaker 1: working on it.
- 53:06Speaker 4: It would have been insane. Absolutely insane. I also want
- 53:09Speaker 4: to shout out to Jeff Tramiel and Zeno Robinson. Your
- 53:13Speaker 4: Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 is dropping January 13th, 2027.
- 53:18Speaker 4: That's right around the corner. That's actually one day before
- 53:20Speaker 4: my birthday. Looking forward to seeing that. What other major stuff?
- 53:25Speaker 4: I know there was some stuff. Oh, there was a
- 53:28Speaker 4: preview of X-Men 97 Season 3. They showed Rogue and
- 53:32Speaker 4: Gambit's wedding. That's coming back in 2027 as well.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:37Speaker 4: We were upset about season two.
- 53:40Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, hopefully season three, you know, gets better.
- 53:42Speaker 2: You know, that's all we can say.
- 53:44Speaker 5: Have we heard if they're going to give us season
- 53:46Speaker 5: four yet?
- 53:47Speaker 2: At one point, they were.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Supposed to do unlimited seasons in this joint.
- 53:52Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I thought.
- 53:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Did they confirm? Yeah, and that was before Marvel decided
- 54:00Speaker 1: not to do any more TV or not to do
- 54:02Speaker 1: shows that much, so.
- 54:05Speaker 1: But now they're doing the zombie special. And I know
- 54:08Speaker 1: it's been season two. It's still a hit. And I
- 54:10Speaker 1: think four was already confirmed. Yeah, four has already been confirmed.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Now five, I don't know. But four was confirmed when
- 54:16Speaker 1: they confirmed three. So they're already rolling.
- 54:19Speaker 5: I feel like what we got with season two is
- 54:21Speaker 5: definitely because they did not confirm if there was like
- 54:23Speaker 5: a season three. So I'm hoping what we disliked about
- 54:26Speaker 5: season two will not be a part of three or
- 54:28Speaker 5: four because we know that there'll be a next season
- 54:31Speaker 5: coming and they won't try to like cut it short
- 54:33Speaker 5: and kind of wrap it all up at the end
- 54:35Speaker 5: of the season.
- 54:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Hopefully also it's not just Bo DeMaio, you know, not
- 54:39Speaker 2: beating it, you know.
- 54:42Speaker 4: So many pieces.
- 54:44Speaker 1: So many pieces. I mean, shout out to his OnlyFans.
- 54:46Speaker 1: You know, he working that, though.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Oh.
- 54:48Speaker 5: Oh.
