- 0:00Put up a bump around Bangor Management Fantasy Hockey
- 0:03podcast. Woo woo woo for Josh that's not
- 0:09here once again. Welcome in one and all from far
- 0:14and Wide to Bangor Management, The Fantasy Hockey Podcast with
- 0:18your two finalist hosts, Jake and Kevin.
- 0:22By that I don't mean that we're like some sort of game show
- 0:25spinoff. I mean that we're playing each
- 0:26other in the finals in our league of record.
- 0:29If you haven't been listening to the most recent episodes, we've
- 0:32been talking about that a lot. We're going into the thick of
- 0:35it. It's a real make it or break it
- 0:38weekend we're going into. We're recording this before the
- 0:41Saturday themes so this is to go live Sunday morning for you
- 0:44guys. So still a lot of hockey left to
- 0:46play with the Saturday Sunday games, but it's looking pretty
- 0:49tight. I have an interesting goalie
- 0:52situation. I don't like my odds but we'll
- 0:55see. It's been a hard fought battle.
- 0:56Jaggies used already all his ads.
- 0:58He used his last ad for a Friday on to pick up Martone, who I
- 1:02know has been a topic of discussion in Discord.
- 1:05I was debating I did not. So I still got 2 ads left and
- 1:08might have to use them on goalies just to hit my start.
- 1:10So you love to hear it. Something crazy so they
- 1:14apparently like made Martone when he started playing for the
- 1:19Flyers a few games ago or I don't know.
- 1:21Like was heavier damage. Coffee was just before that.
- 1:24What? No listen to this?
- 1:25He apparently either started the year at like 190 and now he's
- 1:32215 and lost 3% body. Fat like OK, we'll do just puts
- 1:38on muscle like it's his day job. I know what his day job but like
- 1:42still easy. Actually like what an absolute
- 1:46tank 215 already. It's kinda heavy, but like
- 1:49that's like I think 6263. I mean, yeah, OK, that's a good
- 1:55weight for somebody that size. But I mean, that's just, that's
- 1:58just like that's goals right there.
- 2:00I dream about being able to do that for my body.
- 2:04Well, how many months is that? Few months.
- 2:06Like no, no, like I think it's like like from like the
- 2:09beginning of the season, so. Like OK, I thought you.
- 2:12September, whatever, whenever they're like, yeah, but like,
- 2:15still, like, that's just, that's monster of stuff to do in the
- 2:18season, you know? People do that over like 2 years
- 2:20usually for hitting the gym stuff.
- 2:22Don't quote me but I feel that's a good range putting on like 9
- 2:25lbs of muscle a a year. Really, that's normal if you're
- 2:29like young and like trying to. That's nine shots on goal that
- 2:34that's some powerful stuff right there.
- 2:36That doesn't come from not being insanely strong and being able
- 2:42to impose your will on the NHL right away.
- 2:44Kind of like Anton Frondel, one of your.
- 2:45All Star say he's no front Dell who has the highest registered
- 2:49VO2 Max. But listen those further notice.
- 2:54Yeah, it's it's crazy stuff. I didn't pick him up for that
- 2:56game, just to be clear. But yeah, you picked him up
- 2:59right after that game. I think most people.
- 3:00Did yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. OK, so today is our week 24
- 3:05waivers episode. Speaking of good people to pick
- 3:08up going into next week. Follow us on Spotify, Apple
- 3:11podcast, wherever you're listening, we are there.
- 3:13Of course you are because we're listening on that anyways, Yeah,
- 3:16point wherever you get your podcasts, we're there.
- 3:19Rates five stars. If you like where you're if
- 3:21you're watching on YouTube, give this video a like and subscribe
- 3:23to our channel. All the socials are in, you
- 3:26guessed it, the podcast description as always and the
- 3:28Discord community, you know, wanna talk about talk about not
- 3:33from there. You wanna talk about Martone?
- 3:35Yeah, that's the place to be. We've been talking to Flyers are
- 3:39in and of themselves a lot topic going into the end of the
- 3:42season. I mean, Columbus is kind of like
- 3:45choking, the Islanders are kind of choking and Phillies just
- 3:47like Loki just there. So I mean, yeah, if you get This
- 3:51is the last Meal back episode. I think I said like, I just do
- 3:53not see there was a hot topics. Yeah, it was a hot topic.
- 3:56I said like I just don't see Philly even in the playoff
- 3:58picture. I was like, there's no way.
- 3:59I mean, there, I know they're close, but I don't see them now.
- 4:02Like there's no way changes everything it seems like.
- 4:05Yeah, I think I had them like over Pittsburgh or something and
- 4:08you had Pittsburgh and there. Was like, yeah, you had like you
- 4:10had Pittsburgh missing and you had, I forget, I think you had
- 4:13Ottawa missing. Is that possible or?
- 4:15Should I Exactly and I had Philly in and the.
- 4:19Island. Everybody else leave.
- 4:20I believe that's what Detroit doesn't know.
- 4:22I forget. It could have been Detroit.
- 4:24Yeah, it's gonna, it's a crazy end to the season, so we'll be
- 4:28here bringing you guys the content.
- 4:30It's gonna be a lot of fun. Let's start with our Week 23
- 4:34choices. And I'm extremely excited.
- 4:36About this one, just a little caveat though, like Week 23,
- 4:39obviously we're still in the midst of it.
- 4:40You guys listen to this Sunday morning, we're recording this,
- 4:43like I said just before the start of the games and all the
- 4:45people that we recommended for week 23 have a back-to-back on
- 4:48Saturday, Sunday. So they've only played two games
- 4:50as far. But listen, I think the two
- 4:52games have been have been stellar.
- 4:54Yeah, they have. They have got Patrick Kane 4
- 4:58points in two games, my boy. He's been so good.
- 5:01Yes, he has against me. I love that.
- 5:04This is truly Patrick Kane of old.
- 5:06Like I called it, he was on a mission to make sure that the
- 5:09Red Wings make the playoffs and he's just he's just non-stop
- 5:12right now. It's so fun.
- 5:16Alright, we got Michael Grandland.
- 5:18He got a power play point in two games.
- 5:21Still got two games. Still got two games like you
- 5:23said, and then Pavel Zacha 4 points in three games and still
- 5:27got two games this weekend. So I put the three games he's
- 5:31only played 2IN Week 23, but that third game he played was in
- 5:35the Sunday of Week 22. And I'm counting that because
- 5:39that kid, that game came out after we recorded the episode
- 5:42and we said the pickup Zaka and Zaka got three points that game.
- 5:45So listen, if you did, you probably made your semifinals or
- 5:47finals. And he's already got a point
- 5:49this week. So two more games left.
- 5:52How many more? Can you get puts us to 36 and 18
- 5:56on the was it a good pickup chart?
- 5:57We officially doubled our losses with wins.
- 6:01That was a big goal of mine. No matter what happens in the
- 6:05finals, at least this is a victory for us all.
- 6:09Agree. I mean, listen, there's nothing,
- 6:10there's nothing more gratifying than helping other people when
- 6:12their fantasy leagues. Yeah, Yeah.
- 6:15And losing our own. I was very.
- 6:21Alright, that's how it. Feels so OK no, don't do that.
- 6:26You know, I feel like Josh has done this for years where he
- 6:29complains his way into a victory.
- 6:31He. Knows somebody complains, they
- 6:33win and I know yesterday that things are not going my way.
- 6:37And then I thought you thought you were quiet because things
- 6:40are going so well for you. And then and then you tried it
- 6:43at the end of the night when things started to go better for
- 6:45me. That's it.
- 6:48Well, look at you pulled ahead. You're currently winning right
- 6:50now. So we'll see how it ends.
- 6:52But for a lot of the time, the next episode comes out, you'll
- 6:57all the listeners, you're gonna, you're gonna know what happened.
- 6:59So you know who's really sad because they won't be on the
- 7:01podcast, and who's really happy because they will be on the
- 7:03podcast. So that's how it's gonna go.
- 7:05That's it. All right, OK, we got some 4
- 7:09game teams this coming week, Boston Islanders, New York
- 7:12Rangers, Pittsburgh and Washington.
- 7:15So 4 game teams. That means that they are the bad
- 7:19teams to own because it's over a two week span, so we'll really
- 7:2310 days but. 10 days starts. On the Monday, yeah, it starts
- 7:25on the Monday and I believe the last games are on the following
- 7:27Thursday. So these are the teams you don't
- 7:30wanna own. Usually when we say 4 game
- 7:31teams, obviously it's good. So this is not that case.
- 7:35Those teams that you do want to own the seven game teams, the
- 7:39Seattle Cracking and San Jose Sharks.
- 7:43So yeah, busy night Tuesday, Thursday, Thursday, Saturday and
- 7:47Monday and the off night teams are the Buffalo Sabres, Seattle
- 7:51Crack and San Jose. So really San Jose and Seattle,
- 7:55and obviously our top ten list definitely reflects that, so.
- 7:59Yeah, I was gonna say like those those heavy nice that we just
- 8:01mentioned, like you'll have to go look at your matchup right
- 8:04now if you're listening to this and have the opportunity to go
- 8:07look at next week like your week 24.
- 8:09Because honestly, if you're playing in week 24 is because
- 8:11it's your championship. There's no other week left,
- 8:13right. So if you're still here, you're
- 8:14fighting for that chip and those busy nights, Tuesday, Thursday,
- 8:18Saturday and Monday, go look if you have to bench anybody on
- 8:21those days, because if you have the bench anybody on those days,
- 8:24you should make a decision this weekend and decide who am I
- 8:27cutting to pick up an off night there to maximize games played.
- 8:31That's how you win your championships.
- 8:32You need some volume. You have the best team ever.
- 8:34If your opponent has 10 more games on you, it's not going to
- 8:36matter because the volume will overpower your quality most of
- 8:39the time anyways. So be diligent, go look ahead,
- 8:42see if you have to bench anybody in the upcoming week and then
- 8:44make a decision on who's your guy you're most likely to cut
- 8:47and who we're going to talk about today.
- 8:49Can you pick up to maximize those off nights?
- 8:52Yeah, well said. And I guess just to add to that
- 8:55before getting into the list, what's so great about this San
- 8:59Jose and Seattle, those are the two teams to own.
- 9:01They are very much fighting for the playoffs, especially San
- 9:04Jose. But I I would say Seattle is
- 9:05definitely not out of it like they're.
- 9:07Still, they're both technically in.
- 9:09Like, I like the race. Sorry, not in the playoffs.
- 9:12Yeah, exactly. So they're they're fighting for
- 9:15it. And I think they will be till
- 9:16the very end. Like there are there are, you
- 9:19know, teams that maybe won't play their best players as many
- 9:22minutes or let's say a lock. There are teams that are kind of
- 9:25out of it that maybe, as Josh has alluded to many times, just
- 9:28like the Florida Panther ring right now.
- 9:30They're still winning games and scoring goals, which makes no
- 9:33sense. But I take it back, I can't call
- 9:35it Florida Panthers thing because this is like the first
- 9:37time that they've ever done this.
- 9:39There's been many teams like this is more of like a Vegas
- 9:41thing in years past. But yeah, all this to say like
- 9:45San Jose and Seattle, 2 really spicy teams and with the best
- 9:49schedule. So without further ado, let's
- 9:51get into our top ten points, guys under 40% owned starting
- 9:55with. Well, I was gonna say starting
- 9:57with a PhD, the the reason why the whole season we were saying
- 10:04do not have your playoff championship is week 24 is
- 10:07because week 24, those last 10 days of the season, we see even
- 10:11more shenanigans happen with, you know, these NHL teams and
- 10:14their rosters. Like over the last few weeks we
- 10:16saw in Florida, every guy that's oh, hurt a little bit is getting
- 10:19held out for the rest of the season.
- 10:20So these next 10 days, you're going to see a lot of that.
- 10:23You're going to see star players on the best teams in the league
- 10:27be has bumps and bruises and be held out of the lineup or you
- 10:31know, stuff like that happen and it's gonna really suck.
- 10:35And we're warning you in advance like that's going to happen.
- 10:37So I say be diligent with your ads.
- 10:39Maybe wait to see like on the heavy nights after some like I
- 10:42think patients will be really rewarded because if you have
- 10:45injuries on your team, you want to replace those guys instead of
- 10:47like cutting and adding somebody else.
- 10:49But that's gonna be hard to predict who's going to give you
- 10:52value this week because who's even going to be in the lineup?
- 10:54And our deployments are going to change.
- 10:56So a lot of volatility around this week.
- 10:58We're gonna do our best to give you some good options, but take
- 11:01something with a little Asterix and keep that in mind.
- 11:03Yes. OK, let's dive into it.
- 11:06So starting at. #10. #10 of the Colorado Avalanche, perhaps the
- 11:15power play. One official for the next few
- 11:18games. Devon Tays six games in Week 24.
- 11:23Yeah, he's got six games a week, 24.
- 11:26And if you've listened to this podcast in the past, either last
- 11:28year or the offseason, like we are certified Devontae's haters,
- 11:32we're just gonna put it out there like he's.
- 11:34We always say he's too high roster.
- 11:36I think the only league that has some value in are like plus
- 11:39minus leagues, which hopefully you're not playing the plus
- 11:41minus league. But the main reason why he's on
- 11:44this list and he's #10 is because, listen, if you can add
- 11:46a defenseman that can be valuable for you in fantasy,
- 11:49that's already a rare commodity, one that's going to be on a
- 11:52power play. One for Colorado.
- 11:54I know they have the worst power play, but it's actually been
- 11:56pretty decent as of late. Then you gotta keep your eye on.
- 11:59This ever since they got Devante.
- 12:03I mean, we were hoping it was going to be a Malinsky, but then
- 12:07you know, he played one game there and got bumped off.
- 12:09He had a sick game by the way. So everybody picked up Malinsky.
- 12:12Then you're you're pretty happy about that.
- 12:14But he didn't get any power play points and now they're rocking
- 12:16Devon taped as the power play one quarterback and kill my cars
- 12:18absence. Makar was already ruled out for
- 12:21the Saturday Sunday games that are happening tonight and
- 12:23tomorrow. So this is just kind of like
- 12:26monitor the situation. The Avs are clinched for the
- 12:28playoffs, right? Like they don't want to risk any
- 12:30extra injuries or whatnot. So if McCormick any extra time
- 12:33like Devante is going to be the gun power play 1 and that's what
- 12:36gives his value. My car comes back or they swap
- 12:38somebody else, then do not pick up Devon Travis.
- 12:40Just disclaimer. But right now that's why his
- 12:42number 10 on this list, because if you get exposure to the power
- 12:45play, it's good. Yeah, well said.
- 12:47And we don't hate Devontae because he's not a good player.
- 12:51It's just like what Jacob Slavin Davantes is like one of the top
- 12:54tier defensive defensemen in the league.
- 12:56He doesn't get the opportunity on offence.
- 12:58So now that he has it, I mean he's playing with some of the
- 13:00best players in the world and they just And company, if you
- 13:02will, and. So they just some friends.
- 13:05Are good opportunity for him exactly OK moving on to. #9.
- 13:11At #9 of the Saint Louis Blues, I actually really like this guy.
- 13:17I think he's a really good player.
- 13:19We have Phillip Broberg, he's at .71 points per game over the
- 13:24last month. Nothing in Shaw's hits or
- 13:27blocks. He's just like abysmal at that,
- 13:30but in the points category and that's what this section is all
- 13:33about. He's been really good six games
- 13:35this coming week. So I know yeah, I was gonna say
- 13:38I know in week 23, Saint Louis players were hot commodities
- 13:41because they played on every single off night.
- 13:43So a lot of those guys were picked up and Broberg was a big
- 13:46name because, you know, he's the quote UN quote power play one
- 13:49quarterback for the Saint Louis team.
- 13:51And listen, we're adding another defence.
- 13:53Mini knows the bottom of the top 10, but there's the last
- 13:56defenseman on this list. And I think it's worth
- 13:58mentioning because averaging .71 points per game over the last
- 14:01month is not nothing from a defenseman, especially when
- 14:04you're getting power play points over the last two weeks has been
- 14:07especially hot. It's been a point per game
- 14:09player. The thing is, no category
- 14:11coverage, less than one shot, less than one hit, less than one
- 14:14block, you're getting straight zeros there.
- 14:16You'll if you get one assist and it's a power play assist, you're
- 14:19happy. That's why this isn't really
- 14:21mainly for points leagues. In category leagues, I'm really
- 14:23not that interested. Like Jake picked up in our
- 14:26matchup on Monday, we both picked up Saint Louis
- 14:28defensemen. All of these guys were
- 14:30available. Jake went Logan, Maui went
- 14:31Colton, Parayko Broberg was just sitting there and he did get a
- 14:34power play is the on Monday, but not for either of our teams.
- 14:39Yeah, that would be huge for our magic.
- 14:41It would actually, yeah, no, he, he uh, he's really just a decent
- 14:48player and he's had the opportunity in the past and he's
- 14:51been he's been good. It's just the shots hit blocks
- 14:54nowhere to be found. Yep.
- 14:56So, OK, let's go to the next one.
- 15:00Number 8 at #8 we have Jonathan Marchessault of the Nashville
- 15:07Predators. He is at .86 points per game
- 15:11over the last month. That's actually tremendous
- 15:14considering the really rocky season he's at otherwise.
- 15:17But, you know, good to see that he's pulling things together.
- 15:21And yeah, his shots, he's always been good for shots.
- 15:25And that's something that has changed in his game, especially
- 15:28over the last month. They've got six games this
- 15:30coming week. Nashville is definitely still in
- 15:33the playoff race and. Yeah, to everyone's shock,
- 15:38Nashville is still in the playoff phrase.
- 15:39I feel like throughout the whole season, we were like, the wheels
- 15:41gonna fall off. The really gonna fall off.
- 15:42The wheels didn't fall off completely, but I think they
- 15:45make the playoffs. I don't think so.
- 15:46But the fact that it's so close with so little games left is
- 15:50impressive in itself. Even though I don't think they
- 15:52want to win games. I don't think they think of
- 15:54themselves as a playoff team. Like they were selling at the
- 15:56deadline. So interesting.
- 15:58But Marshall, so on. The season is at like .5 points
- 16:00per game over the last two weeks.
- 16:02He's at one point the game for last months .86.
- 16:05It's really like a recent turn around over the last 30 days,
- 16:07but he's gonna get you 2 shots and almost a point per game
- 16:11player with some power play points.
- 16:13All these guys on this list of this top 10 have either six
- 16:16games or seven games this upcoming week and I think Marsha
- 16:19so from the right wing position on a Nashville team that is
- 16:21still fighting for the playoffs will give you some good
- 16:24production. Yeah, I almost feel like he's
- 16:28kind of at the exact same level as the next two we're going to
- 16:30talk about. Yeah, it's there's definitely
- 16:33there are reasons they're higher.
- 16:34So let's go to the next one. And once we get the three, we'll
- 16:38kind of maybe do a little compare and contrast.
- 16:41So at. #7. At #7 we have Trevor Moore.
- 16:49He he's one of those guys who just who just kind of seems
- 16:55irrelevant but then out of nowhere just goes on this crazy
- 16:59tear every season and you want to pick him up 3.47 shots on
- 17:03goal over the past month is crazy.
- 17:05That's like. Those are.
- 17:07Numbers 1.33 hits also. I mean pretty good.
- 17:11Pretty darn good. He'll give you some category
- 17:13coverage. And this short volume is really
- 17:15why I think I put them ahead of Marsha.
- 17:17So because if I had to bet purely on points, I'd favor
- 17:20March or so, but more will be, I would say like 25% less good at
- 17:27points than more, but he'll double than Marshall, but he'll
- 17:31double Marshall. So in shots, it feels like
- 17:33somebody that can average such a high shot Volume is a rare
- 17:36commodity, the one that you can pick up on waivers.
- 17:39Elias got six games this upcoming week.
- 17:41Like, he can get you some power play points as well.
- 17:43Like he has one power play point this season, but it happened
- 17:48four games ago. So maybe the tide is turning
- 17:52mainly is just for the I feel like reasonable points floor of
- 17:57what you can expect from him. But this shot volume is nuts,
- 18:00guys on a six game weekly that can be so much volume.
- 18:02We're adding to your categories this week, and the hits are.
- 18:05Yeah, I agree on all fronts. I do agree on all fronts.
- 18:08But I think the PowerPoint point me that may be a little
- 18:12ambitious. The top.
- 18:15He's averaging more shorthanded points than power play points is
- 18:18here, so I could even be better for you.
- 18:22Exactly, Exactly. All right, The next one is kind
- 18:25of interesting. And I think, yeah.
- 18:27So let's go to the next one. Where now I forgot what your
- 18:32number at #6 my fingers up. Alright, at number six of the
- 18:40Colorado Avalanche, we have Gabe Landeskog.
- 18:44He he's kind of the one where I'm like, hmm, would I really
- 18:48rather Landeskog over Marsha? So I know the power play in
- 18:53Colorado does not say that doesn't tell the full story by
- 18:56any means. I'm curious kind of why you
- 18:58would be leaning Landeskog over Marcus or more.
- 19:02Yeah, to me the reason why I put Landeskog higher is because I
- 19:07think he has a fuller profile for category leagues because he
- 19:10will not only shoot, he will go and face offs he will hit as
- 19:13well. And he's been like hot ish since
- 19:15coming back. Like he's at .7 points per game,
- 19:17which is not nothing though. The bad thing is though, he lost
- 19:20line one power play one. But if he ever got that back,
- 19:24either line one or power play 1, I think he'd be easier, better,
- 19:28like easily better than both of the guys we spoke about before.
- 19:31Now I think like he's better because has the upside of
- 19:34getting that, which will completely like blow up his
- 19:37volume, his value in a good way, but also like the the category
- 19:41coverage is a more well-rounded picture.
- 19:44If I had to bet on who's gonna get the most points this week,
- 19:46I'd go March or so. But then I think the shots are
- 19:48very valuable for more and I think the the shots face off
- 19:52wins hits from Landis Cog is even more valuable with, you
- 19:55know, the points being a higher floor as well.
- 19:57So all these three guys are definitely in the same tier,
- 19:59right? That's why they're kind of in
- 20:00the middle pack of this of this list.
- 20:02They're all good. Options for various different
- 20:04reasons. So it just kind of depends.
- 20:06But the upside with Landeskog, though, is that what if, you
- 20:09know, Colorado, you know, has to rest some guys at the end of the
- 20:14season, right? What if nature needs a break?
- 20:15What if somebody else needs a break?
- 20:16He's the next guy up onto that power play.
- 20:18And I think that's why I'm putting him up high.
- 20:20But there's so much that can go wrong or change in this week 24
- 20:24that's going to be crazy for all fantasy owners out there.
- 20:26So I think just because of that risk, I'm putting it up, putting
- 20:29them up there. So the fuller profile than the
- 20:32other two, I get it like 100% that's that makes.
- 20:35Him and the blocks too. Don't forget the blocks.
- 20:37Yeah, Yeah, No, I mean, he's he's a great category coverage
- 20:41forward, like really he absolutely is.
- 20:43But it's literally the last thing that you said, which is
- 20:46making me kind of feel like I would want to lean the other
- 20:49guys. Because if there's someone who's
- 20:50going to sit from Colorado, I think it's going to be Landeskog
- 20:54as opposed to the other guys sitting.
- 20:55So I'm like, yes, with the upside of him getting that power
- 21:00play one or line 1 even without the power play.
- 21:03And frankly, yes, I'll put them over Marsha so or more, even
- 21:07though I know more is not power play one.
- 21:09But even like whatever those guys situations are, it doesn't
- 21:12all get better than a line one line discog comparing these
- 21:14three players provided the fact that he plays and because of all
- 21:18the injury history and I know he really wants to play in the
- 21:21playoffs considering how important he is to this team and
- 21:24the injury history has had for the past few years.
- 21:26I'm like there is a real big asterisk there for me.
- 21:28So that's why like if you're going to make the, if you're
- 21:31feeling confident going into next week and you want to make a
- 21:33pickup for next week, look, I'm not sure, but if you maybe like,
- 21:39I don't know, maybe you wait it out a little bit with them.
- 21:41But yeah, the upsides higher. I just think that the floor is
- 21:44also lower because they may sit them.
- 21:46Fair. So listen, I have no shame in
- 21:48putting Lanis phone maybe #8 on this list and Marshes number
- 21:51six. I feel like all these guys, like
- 21:53we said, are in the same team. Even the next guy up, I feel
- 21:55like he's in a similar tier. Do we want to get into it?
- 21:58Let's do it at. #5. Number that was that one, that
- 22:04one hit that one. So I feel like they're always
- 22:07good, like, and like sometimes they're great and sometimes they
- 22:11just like, whoa, where did that come from that it's authentic
- 22:16every time. You know, it's like really my
- 22:18job, like a machine playing, playing.
- 22:20And this is. Live in the studio.
- 22:24There you go alright, cool. So at #5 we have Jordan Eberly
- 22:29.8 points per game over the last month and you know what he's
- 22:33been consistent all season. That's one thing I will say
- 22:37compared to the previous three, which is why I sort of think
- 22:39he's in a bit of a tier higher is that he's he has been good
- 22:42all season. Yes, it's kind of streaky, but
- 22:45it's averaged out to be pretty strong.
- 22:47And considering Seattle's fighting for the playoff spot,
- 22:50as I mentioned, he's a huge part of their team consistently
- 22:52getting 1819 to 21 minutes right.
- 22:55I think he he can be really, really good.
- 22:57The the shots I wish were a little bit better, but still
- 23:01like 2.14 over the last month. I don't know.
- 23:05I think he's, I think he's a great option.
- 23:07Yep, the reason why I have him above the other guys is Simply
- 23:10put, he has one extra game. He's got 7 games.
- 23:12I think he's literally just as good as Marshall, so maybe a
- 23:16little less good, but he's got one extra game.
- 23:19He's still line one power play one on a Seattle team that's
- 23:21fighting for the playoffs. Similar profile, right?
- 23:24It's like .8 points per game on average, like two shots, some
- 23:28power play points. Um, and that's pretty much what
- 23:31you can expect from Jordan Eberly.
- 23:32Like he's been on this show consistently throughout the
- 23:34season. I think he's definitely in a low
- 23:36point right now. So it's not the type of player
- 23:37that I'm like rushing to pick up on Sunday night or Monday
- 23:41morning type of thing. But I do think like if he's on
- 23:44your roster, if you have the option to pick him up throughout
- 23:46the the week, like I think he could be pretty valuable because
- 23:50yeah, he's a little colder right now, but seven games is such a
- 23:52big sample size. Like that's two weeks of
- 23:54production in one game basically for your fantasy teams rights.
- 23:58A lot can happen over seven games.
- 23:59And yeah, at a certain point, you know, you want more shots of
- 24:03the gun in your in your fantasy matchup, right?
- 24:05That's why volume is king and volume helps a lot.
- 24:08Just that extra game can mean the difference between the
- 24:10championship and not winning championship because of the 7th
- 24:12game is the one that he gets like 2 points once in PowerPoint
- 24:14and it completely changes the size of your matchup, right?
- 24:16So keeping the lines, yeah. And the options are really good
- 24:19too. Yeah.
- 24:21So it's all good things as you said.
- 24:24I really like this next one as well at. #4.
- 24:28At #4 We have Jimmy Snugger out of the Saint Louis Blues.
- 24:32This is a tear break to me. Yeah.
- 24:34I think he's he's like above the other ones, you know, he's.
- 24:37Also cheating really cuz he's 42% owned so he doesn't fit in
- 24:41our 40% criteria but I felt like if he's on your waivers like he
- 24:44has to be a name or considering because of how consistent he's
- 24:46been for points and shots lately.
- 24:48I think there's a very solid chance by the time people are
- 24:51listening to this that he's back under 40% because he's already
- 24:54gone two straight games without a point.
- 24:56And like the last one was bad. He got straight zeros except for
- 25:00one block. So I mean, he may have may be
- 25:05inconsistent, but when he's on like I think he's significantly
- 25:08better than the other guys we mentioned previously and 3.17
- 25:15shots per game and that has has gotten pretty much better and
- 25:19better other than the caveat of the last game is it's aren't bad
- 25:23either. They're giving him the
- 25:24opportunities, they're giving him the minutes and he has the
- 25:26pedigree to be a really good player.
- 25:28Over the last month, he's at a point per game.
- 25:30He's averaging over three shots a game.
- 25:32Like that's an elite level player right there.
- 25:34The reason why, like, he's so low on is because the
- 25:37consistency is what's missing. But we see a lot of times, like
- 25:39these young guys really thrive at the end of the season.
- 25:41That's what happened. This number, because it was
- 25:42nowhere near this, this, you know, point space throughout the
- 25:45season, right? He was, you know, a name that
- 25:48was thrown into the caller conversation before the year got
- 25:50started. I think this end of season is
- 25:52kind of proving why. Yeah.
- 25:53But by a lot of people, like it wasn't just us, but I think this
- 25:56end of season stretch is what's really kind of like showing
- 25:59people that he has value, He's got really good deployment.
- 26:01I think Saint Louis is a much different team now than they
- 26:04were like throughout the most of the season.
- 26:07They're trying to still win games as well, right?
- 26:09So I think on a week like this where you need shots and points,
- 26:14like there's very few options that can deliver consistently
- 26:17like he's been doing recently. Yeah, I think it's a great
- 26:20option. And look, I mean even if he's
- 26:23not under 42%, only he's up 17% on the week as it stands.
- 26:27So either it's still the one thing non bias opinion.
- 26:32What? The one thing that I will say
- 26:34though, like over the month is that like one point per game,
- 26:37but very little power play points.
- 26:39Less than 10% of those points are on the power play.
- 26:42So I'm not expecting much power play.
- 26:44Like I think it's definitely in the range of outcomes for a
- 26:46player like this, but you know, the sample size has not knowing
- 26:50that this is something that I can expect very often, so I
- 26:53wouldn't, but the points are there.
- 26:55Yeah, OK. Let's go to the next one #3 at
- 27:01#3 one of the best looking players you can't call
- 27:05good-looking, apparently because of something that Josh explained
- 27:08earlier in the year that I completely forgot.
- 27:09But anyways, Alex Wennberg of the San Jose Sharks, I'm sorry,
- 27:13that was so funny. When he had that reaction, I was
- 27:16like, oh, like, you can't call him good looking.
- 27:19It was the whole thing. And it's like, wow, I hope
- 27:21people. And then he was like, I hope
- 27:22people don't do that to me. Joshua would say that.
- 27:28I was like, wow, that that was brilliant.
- 27:30Anyway, so every time I think of Alex Wenberg, I think about our
- 27:32hilarious exchange with that. All this to say, he's also, he's
- 27:37also probably having a career year at this point.
- 27:40So he's more than just a pretty face.
- 27:43Not apparently, no, sorry. He's just not a pretty face or
- 27:45whatever you're supposed to say .86 points per game over the
- 27:49last month. Also .36 power play points.
- 27:53Like get outta town. He's wow.
- 27:55He's been really hot on the power play.
- 27:57A lot of that has been. Yeah.
- 28:01He's been very not good looking on the power play, but his
- 28:06production has been hot. A lot of it has come in business
- 28:10form. Yes, he's very much informed.
- 28:14For all of you soccer fans out there.
- 28:16Jake keeps hitting on me for saying inform.
- 28:18Good form, bad form. I actually like it.
- 28:21It's just the reason you hate on me.
- 28:23You hate on me. No, it's because you said it and
- 28:26then you were like, some people are saying that like, do you
- 28:28guys know what I'm talking about?
- 28:29Is like, yeah, I think I know you're talking about.
- 28:30Then the next episode he just kept saying.
- 28:33That was filtering myself. Before I was like, I was like
- 28:37putting myself down as I can't use all my knowledge, all my all
- 28:40my vocabulary, you know? Now I find you finally Let me
- 28:43out before you let me bloom. I'm a Peacock.
- 28:47You gotta let me fly. On this yes, OK, sorry about
- 28:53Wenberg. He's been really hot for points.
- 28:56Let me just say it OK, just I can I can use that word.
- 28:58OK, he's been really hot. He's online 2 power play, one PK
- 29:021. So he's on the ice for the
- 29:03important minutes. He's not a category coverage guy
- 29:06like his shots are going to hover around 1.41 point 5.
- 29:09The faceoff wins are there, the blocks are there.
- 29:12So if you're looking from that for a forward that he's valuable
- 29:14option. But it's really just the points,
- 29:16power play points and the seven games this week with the off
- 29:19nights and like Jackie said earlier, like San Jose still
- 29:22fighting for this playoff spot. Like, I think we're gonna get
- 29:24it. No, but they're gonna try.
- 29:25They're not trying to lose. So that just increases the odds
- 29:29that, you know, good things happen to teams like this
- 29:31because they're really trying to win.
- 29:33So I like when you're. Not really gonna.
- 29:36It's gonna be down to the wire with them.
- 29:37Like, I don't know if you saw a celebrity's most recent game
- 29:40where you went absolutely ballistic.
- 29:42Like this can happen so. Especially when you're on the
- 29:46same power play as a kid like that.
- 29:48Yeah, exactly. He's nuts.
- 29:49He's so. Good, but the main reason why
- 29:51he's #3 is because he got 7 games and he's been producing so
- 29:54hot lately. Exactly.
- 29:56He's in great form. Peak form actually.
- 29:58The the the best form. So yeah, all right, let's go on
- 30:04to the next one. The best number in the entire
- 30:07league #2. #2 We have the undisputed alliteration love
- 30:15when there's no ambiguity about it.
- 30:18The undisputed alliteration king of the Vancouver Canucks, Brock
- 30:22Besser, who also has been going crazy this week.
- 30:26Nuclear. I wish I picked them up.
- 30:29I almost did that on the Monday. I was like, he has, you know, he
- 30:32started the week with a week 23 with a Monday, Wednesday off
- 30:35night. I was like I could I could
- 30:36actually dabble in that. He's been hot.
- 30:38Well, I didn't. I didn't and I regret it.
- 30:41He he went insane like on April first.
- 30:46Three goals, one assist. April Fools to everybody that
- 30:50didn't pick him up. And literally, literally that
- 30:53was going that's what it is. And it was against Colorado.
- 30:56So I mean AN86 win that was everyone predicted that, you
- 30:59know. People lost championships
- 31:01because they started the Colorado goalie against
- 31:04Vancouver, the worst team in the league who like clinched the
- 31:07best odds to win the 1st overall pick but they beat Colorado 86.
- 31:12The fall of Mackenzie Blackwood needs to be studied.
- 31:15Just also the fact that like you probably if you, that was like a
- 31:18late game. If you woke up, you know, the
- 31:21next morning on April 2nd and you saw all the April 1st post
- 31:25about Brock Besser hat trick or whatever, you're like, oh, April
- 31:28fools. Nope, actually happened.
- 31:32But yeah, he's been, he's been so hot over the last month.
- 31:35He's at 1.13 points per game, almost .5 power play points.
- 31:39His shot volume has been 2.5 or or higher.
- 31:42So it's really just like everything is there right now,
- 31:45points, power play, points, shots.
- 31:47So the deployment is there. Vancouver's got literally
- 31:50nothing to play for, so they're just trying to be spoiler out
- 31:52here. And for some reason they're in
- 31:54good form right now. So he's got six games this week,
- 31:57but he's so high because he's one of the only players on this
- 32:00list that's, you know, averaging over a point per game.
- 32:03That's very rare, especially when you pick up on waivers for
- 32:05less than 40%. Yeah, no, like that.
- 32:08That's exactly it. He's really, he's one of those
- 32:11guys. It's like they're they're not
- 32:13playing for much right now, but he's also not like a superstar
- 32:17that they're going to consider shutting down or anything.
- 32:19I feel like he's just. He's arguably one of their best
- 32:21players, no? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:24No, he is. But I'm just saying it's like,
- 32:26although they really ever do this, but for some teams, it's
- 32:29like if, you know, the superstar is kind of like off at the end
- 32:32of the season, like they're gonna sure not play him just to
- 32:34not risk injury. That's not gonna happen to
- 32:36Besser. He's been doing really well, and
- 32:38I'd expect that to continue for the rest of the season.
- 32:40Like, why not? Yeah.
- 32:43OK, then I feel like we should always end with #2 because
- 32:47you're more excited to say #2. I'm really excited about this
- 32:51one. When they reveal the draft order
- 32:54like you know, they do down to three and then they they show
- 32:58number one, right. So it's kind of like that, but I
- 33:02guess less. Than we should.
- 33:05Alright, so let's do it at. Number one.
- 33:10At #1 we have of the Seattle crack in Bobby McMahon.
- 33:17He's been fantabulous. You I remember like you assessed
- 33:23the trade and it was you said it perfectly.
- 33:25You're like, I don't think Seattle needs another middle 6
- 33:30forward to just go into their lineup like it's not going to
- 33:33help them as a team. And I people say to your credit
- 33:36of the last seven games, they've won one.
- 33:41So you are correct in that assessment completely.
- 33:45But it didn't doesn't mean that Bobby McMahon was not going to
- 33:49be insane. And he has been way better than
- 33:51I think any of us expected him to be.
- 33:53So yeah, if he had a better schedule these past few weeks, I
- 33:56would have absolutely loved him on my team.
- 33:59So now that you have him with a good schedule going into Week
- 34:0224, they are still fighting for the playoffs?
- 34:04I think yeah, he's easily the best guy to own.
- 34:07And he's number one for a reason.
- 34:10Seattle's got 7 games multiple off nights and look at his, look
- 34:14at his, you know, fantasy profile.
- 34:16He's averaging almost three shots a game, almost two hits a
- 34:20game and he's over one point per game.
- 34:24Like there's literally nothing to hate about this guy right
- 34:26now. He feels like a priority pickup
- 34:28in almost every league format, especially if you're in a quote
- 34:31UN quote deeper league. He this is the type of guy to
- 34:34win to your championship if you pick him up at the right time.
- 34:36So you know, going into week 24 and everybody's playing for the
- 34:40the chip at this point, he's the type of guy that I really want
- 34:43to pick up as soon as the week starts or even beforehand right.
- 34:46So literally nothing to hate about what he's been doing.
- 34:50The only thing that I can say is that his time, what ice has been
- 34:53fluctuating a lot. You'll see some games you'll
- 34:55play 20 minutes will play like slightly less than 15, which is
- 34:57a pretty big discrepancy. But overall you've just been so
- 35:01productive. The power play has not really
- 35:03been there. Like it's not super hot.
- 35:04Like Seattle has always kind of been like one of the worst power
- 35:07play teams. But like the points production
- 35:09is like, I think it's more multi point games than single point
- 35:12games. So, you know, you take that and
- 35:15you run with it. The shot volumes are the hits
- 35:17are there. Like there's really nothing to
- 35:19hide. Yeah, yeah, I know you.
- 35:22You said it perfectly. I yeah, I mean, like, this is
- 35:26the only reason that I'm kind of bummed that we don't have Week
- 35:3024. Because we could pick up Bobby
- 35:31McMahon. Exactly.
- 35:33She helped me win my quarter finals.
- 35:35There you go. And then I have to cut them.
- 35:36He was a roster casualty to stream.
- 35:39I feel like you had some karma there because you didn't play
- 35:43Jamie Benn after all he's done for you last game.
- 35:48There you go in 14 minutes and still, you know, came through.
- 35:52All the guys had been literally had like their best game of the
- 35:54season. I felt like he got an assist, he
- 35:56got 5. Pimms and he was like this ones
- 35:59for Bobby. Yeah, we'll call you the same
- 36:02thing. I had the bench Will Cooley on
- 36:04on Thursday. Manus scored a goal, Six shots,
- 36:06six hits. I was like, the only thing he's
- 36:09been doing lately is getting zero shots, 0 points and like
- 36:11three hits. That's all he was doing.
- 36:14But not. Not that they happened though.
- 36:16Yeah, yeah, exactly. He was one day late in April
- 36:19Fools. Yeah, really full day.
- 36:21Cool. That was a good one.
- 36:24That was a really good list. I think for Week 24, it's always
- 36:28tricky, but we kinda, I feel like just beyond the player and
- 36:32their recent production, there is a thesis here.
- 36:34And for most of them at least, it's like, I mean, I feel like
- 36:38the fighting for the playoffs of it all is gonna really, really
- 36:41help. And don't forget like an
- 36:43asterisk, like the teams that are fighting for their playoff
- 36:45spots are super valuable in this specific week, like Jake has
- 36:48mentioned how many times? Because you know, they're gonna
- 36:51try their best to win and play all their players.
- 36:53The teams that are coaching are already clinched.
- 36:54The teams are already out of it. Like they don't give AFA dollar
- 36:58sign dollar sign poop. You know what I'm trying to say?
- 37:02OHS don't care, don't care. Both going down for them.
- 37:09I feel it's been a while since we talked about both but both
- 37:11boats going up for a lot of these teams trying to bully
- 37:14McMahon and and and Brock Besser on the same boat and that boats
- 37:17turned into rocket ship soon somebody other boats are
- 37:20crashing down going to the sharks.
- 37:22So this was this was a mess, but.
- 37:25That's it. Yeah, Man and Brock Besser are
- 37:29on Artemis 3. But it's a boat.
- 37:32Yes, exactly. I think it's Artemis too.
- 37:36That just went up. Anyway.
- 37:37They're they're on the next one with it, which is gonna be a
- 37:40boat apparently not a rocket ship.
- 37:41Heard here first. Can't wait for the sequel
- 37:43management. I said OK, let's get into our
- 37:48top five bangers under 20% owned.
- 37:52Yeah, this is also just, you know, I guess small profile
- 37:56change for me. The previous list is 40%.
- 37:58This one's 20%, which is good. I mean, high chance that they're
- 38:02available in some of your leagues depending.
- 38:04And you know what I will say even beyond, you gotta focus on
- 38:08the other guys we mentioned for points leagues 100%.
- 38:10But if you're in like a really deep points league, it could be
- 38:13worth it to take these guys because it hits are worth
- 38:17something. Blocks are worth something.
- 38:18So yeah, with some of their production recently, not bad.
- 38:21Again, more of a last resort type vibe, but not irrelevant
- 38:24there. Alright, so we have we have 5
- 38:27names plus one honorable mention.
- 38:29I feel like we'll, we'll list the five names that we'll talk
- 38:31about them because you guys know about these banger guys, right?
- 38:34We're trying to give you guys are gonna be valuable for your
- 38:35entire week. But also not guys are just like
- 38:382-1 dimensional, even though there is some value to that when
- 38:41you need to target a specific cat.
- 38:42So I'm gonna give you 5 names. There's three forwards, 2
- 38:46defensemen, and maybe we separate them that way.
- 38:49So talk about some forward bangers that you guys can really
- 38:52look at. This week we got Eli Tolvanen of
- 38:54the Seattle Kraken. We have Adam Clarke or Calgary
- 38:59famous name on this podcast. Like the guy just all he does is
- 39:02hit. All he does is hit hit and no
- 39:04matter what literally thought of that right away.
- 39:07There you go. And the last name for forwards
- 39:10we'll mention is loss and Krauss, who also has been
- 39:13quietly putting in some crazy performances.
- 39:15Like if you played against Alison Krauss, you know you did
- 39:17because you look at your opponents team, you're like, how
- 39:19the bleep is this guy doing this to me?
- 39:23For defensemen? We have a white cloud of Calgary
- 39:28as well. He's been a really stellar
- 39:29banger. He served me well during this
- 39:31playoff run. And Mikey Anderson, not the
- 39:34actress. We're talking about the
- 39:36defensemen for the Los Angeles Kings.
- 39:39You know what I mean? You my God, I was like who the
- 39:52OHS? Easy to confuse you're talking
- 39:53about. Yeah, so, so not sound alike,
- 39:56yeah. Yeah, not a Nora.
- 40:01My yeah. Yeah, I've never met another.
- 40:06Another guy named Mikey. That's his actual name.
- 40:09Mikey for all all you Mike is out there, let us know as I was
- 40:14never and never let somebody called Mikey.
- 40:16There were metal, Mikey. Before.
- 40:18No, that's that. That wasn't a nickname.
- 40:19That was his actual name. Ohe ohe, yeah, OK, but.
- 40:23Like I met Mike Michael. I mean, I have a feeling like
- 40:27his real name is Michael, but anyways, that's, that's neither
- 40:31here nor there. Now Mikey Madison, maybe her
- 40:34real, I don't know. Man, this is getting too
- 40:36complicated. We we talk about way too many
- 40:40advanced topics. On it is it is Michael, but he
- 40:44loves to go. Michi.
- 40:45Yeah. What's Mikey?
- 40:46How to say I'm? Older than Mikey.
- 40:49Dang, you really is. Yeah, I am.
- 40:51Yeah, that was the worst feeling when it started happening and I
- 40:56was like, ohhhhh, ohhhhh. OK, I'm older than these guys
- 40:59now and they're in the NHL, and Mikey Madison's real name is
- 41:03Michaela. That adds up to Mikeys, Michael
- 41:07and Michaela. That makes sense.
- 41:08Everyone learn everything. Real name Real name is Mikey.
- 41:12Let us. Know your fake name and your
- 41:14stage name, your real name. OK, alright, OK.
- 41:18So we got, um, I guess I'll give a, I mean, we, we could go in
- 41:23whichever order. We'll start with the forwards, I
- 41:25suppose. Tolvanen is, I would say easily
- 41:28the most well-rounded. He kinda puts up to really solid
- 41:32defensemen numbers as a forward and there are those weeks where
- 41:35you just gets points and that's pretty fun.
- 41:38Then Klopka also extremely one-dimensional, as you said,
- 41:42Lawson Kraus, there is a Japanese dip on her kind of
- 41:47thing. Corner store really called
- 41:49Lawsons. So that's the first thing I'll
- 41:51say. That's super important.
- 41:54Yeah. There you go.
- 41:55Yeah, They they got, you know, like those egg sandwiches that
- 41:58are famous at 7:11. Looks like they got they got
- 42:01them there too. Anyway, nice small world, but
- 42:04yeah. Kraus has been insane.
- 42:06Obviously the Pimms have been knots, the shots, hits, blocks.
- 42:09So if he has any, well, I mean, I guess the Pimm's caveat came
- 42:13from one game, but still, if he can do that for you in Week 24,
- 42:18that would be fantastic. And for the defensemen, look, to
- 42:23me, I don't really see much of a difference.
- 42:26I think it kind of could go either way.
- 42:27But the the blocks are there in that that I expect to stay.
- 42:31So I'd probably rather Anora over White Cloud.
- 42:36Alright, we got a new nickname. There we go.
- 42:38I love that. You should state that.
- 42:40That'd be great. Hopefully he's relevant.
- 42:42It's a good one. Josh is gonna come back and be
- 42:44like who the heck Annora is like looking at his appearing like
- 42:48what are you guys talking about? I didn't know she played hockey
- 42:51as well. That's what I will say about
- 42:54crowds, though, is that, I mean, listen, you look at this game
- 42:57log, you saw that game against LA where you had three points.
- 43:00If you played against him that week, you're really upset about
- 43:02it. But he's been like quietly
- 43:04really good for hits and shots and that's kind of been his
- 43:09thing his whole career. But now he's also playing line
- 43:11one with Nick Schmaltz. So and not only Nick Schmaltz,
- 43:14he's also playing with Clayton Keller.
- 43:16So just the deployment bump right there is something to know
- 43:18to be noteworthy of going into this, you know, period of them
- 43:22playing so many games. So if he's got the banger, you
- 43:25know, architect to him as well attached with like the increased
- 43:28deployment upcoming for this week, I think like he could be
- 43:31one of those sneaky guys. If you're one of those deeper
- 43:33leagues, he could be a valuable pickup.
- 43:36And yeah, what Mikey Anderson, I think he's more well-rounded in
- 43:40terms of like having like a double, double in shot hits and
- 43:43blocks for defenseman. That's really good.
- 43:45White Cloud, I think has the higher ceiling for blogs and I
- 43:48really want to focus on the blogs for these defensemen
- 43:51because his is way easier to stream, right?
- 43:53There's so many guys that average like four hits plus like
- 43:57a clap guard or something that you can just pick up and get the
- 43:59hits that you need. But blocks, it's hard to find.
- 44:00Guys are like valuable to blocks and other stuff.
- 44:03So guys like White Cloud, guys like an Aura, Mikey, Mikey
- 44:07Anderson are, are really valuable for your fantasy
- 44:09leagues. The type of guys you pick up
- 44:11early in the week and you know, just get the quantity from those
- 44:13categories. Yeah.
- 44:16I guess one more name I kind of have to mention, and this is
- 44:19sort of regardless of the schedule Sean Walker is under.
- 44:24My bad. Well, he's under 40.
- 44:26He's under 40, yeah. That'd be under 20.
- 44:29That's true. That's true.
- 44:30And the honorable mention, though, Jack McBain, Mendoza.
- 44:35Mendoza, yeah, he's, he's been, he's been fantastic.
- 44:40He's, you know, he's not technically on this list because
- 44:44he's day-to-day right now. Yeah, he got his last game on
- 44:46Easter. He didn't finish it, but if he
- 44:49was healthy and we were sure he was healthy, like he's the type
- 44:51of guy that like he's also averaging over 4 heads a game.
- 44:54He can get you points, he can get you some face off, win some
- 44:56shots, very well-rounded. So I would take him over, clap,
- 45:00go, let's say if I knew he was going to be healthy, absolutely.
- 45:02And with these other guys would be close.
- 45:04Yes, OK, well said. Let's move on to the top three
- 45:09quantity goalies. These are under 40% owned.
- 45:12Again, I'll list them off. You got Kevin LinkedIn.
- 45:18This is tough. I get it.
- 45:19I do get it, but I got it. There's not a lot of bullies
- 45:22that are less than 40% owned. That's true.
- 45:24That's true. We got Freddie Anderson and
- 45:27Connor Ingram. The reason it's tough for me and
- 45:30then we'll go in order is because he is just not good.
- 45:34And I don't understand what like, I never knew this Rod
- 45:38thing translated to goalies too, but it does.
- 45:42It's everywhere, it's not damage.
- 45:44Seriously. OK, let's get into your your
- 45:46namesake, Kevin Lankinen. Yeah, I mean, listen, I do gotta
- 45:50preface right here. Like it's Week 24.
- 45:52We're gonna see a lot of crazy things happen with goalies.
- 45:55You're gonna see maybe some guys that are not even in the NHL
- 45:58right now get brought up and get some games because teams have
- 46:01nothing to play for or, you know, they just want to give
- 46:04some young guys a chance to play.
- 46:06So it's kind of rare to find a guy that's like not really well
- 46:08owned, reliable for starts and is not just kinda like ruin your
- 46:11categories the whole time. So Lincoln, I mean, started for
- 46:14Vancouver, the worst team in the league.
- 46:16He'll get you the games. Will it be a lot of wins?
- 46:18Absolutely not. Will it be good volume?
- 46:21Yes, it will. And you're just hoping the
- 46:23quality doesn't, like ruin you. I know it's not a glowing
- 46:26recommendation, but at this point, less than 40% owned
- 46:29goalies are hard to come by. The ones that are gonna get you
- 46:31like consistent stars. And it's A7 game week, right?
- 46:33So maybe you don't have to pick up pick up a goal that you need
- 46:38to hold the whole week or something like that.
- 46:39And maybe you can just like pick and choose goalies that will win
- 46:42you your matches. If you're in the finals right
- 46:43now, you probably have semantic goalies and it's just about kind
- 46:46of picking the ones that can win your matchup with extra volume
- 46:50or a good quality start, right? So these names are worth
- 46:53mentioning, but I don't think they're gonna be game Breakers
- 46:56for you. Jackie has a Freddie Anderson
- 46:58hatred, so him and him and Brandon Bussey have been
- 47:02alternating stars here and there in Carolina.
- 47:04Still a good team they can play. Spoiler is I would say the same
- 47:09percentage will hover around 900 or just below.
- 47:11It's kind of been like that consistently.
- 47:13They just don't have the save. They don't get enough shots
- 47:16against to have higher state percentages because if they let
- 47:18in two goals, it's never gonna be 900 pretty much.
- 47:20Yeah, I just, I don't really understand why they're doing
- 47:23this. Like Bush's had a great year and
- 47:25he's been playing like not his best.
- 47:28He's he's fell off like the last month and 1/2 has been really
- 47:31rough. Blake look, take the last three
- 47:35games and he's won all three, and 885 and 895, and then a 920.
- 47:40OK, after the 920, you think they'd play them again against
- 47:43the team that he'd demolished, right?
- 47:45It was Columbus. He got a 920.
- 47:47And then Friday, Anderson plays the next game and they win 51.
- 47:51Anderson got 9 saves on 10 shots.
- 47:56Jerry, come on. Like, like, yeah, OK, they're,
- 47:59they're good and he'll get you the win.
- 48:01But I'm just like. I'm just like the whole season.
- 48:04But he like, like, it's really since the Olympic break that
- 48:07they're just like, alright, no, Brandon, you've done super well,
- 48:11but I just decided I don't like alliteration anymore.
- 48:14So you're just not gonna play and we're gonna play Freddie
- 48:18Anderson. And it's just, it's been very
- 48:20questionable. And they're like they're giving
- 48:23him games in succession. So look, I don't get it anyway,
- 48:27Whatever the whatever it is, it's happening.
- 48:30Even if I don't like it. And it's, yeah, I mean, I
- 48:34definitely come up. And the last goal you're worth
- 48:37mentioning is Connor Ingram. Listen, the starter for
- 48:40Edmonton, he's had some really good games in the in the recent
- 48:43past, but it's like very rare you're able to pick up a goalie
- 48:46like this that's only currently 28% owned.
- 48:49His last game was a shutout. And then they played, they
- 48:52played Tristan Jarry the next game, which was not a
- 48:54back-to-back. So they were like, OK, you just
- 48:55gotta shut up. How about we give Tristan Jarry
- 48:57the next game? Jerry didn't like completely
- 49:00pooped the bed either. So at least there's that.
- 49:02Like Edmonton is really just like goaltending away from being
- 49:04a standing and tender when they're all healthy.
- 49:06I mean, they're still missing dry saddle, but they've won four
- 49:09games in a row and you're able to pick up the quote UN quote
- 49:11starter for this team for your championship week potentially.
- 49:15I think he's the only guy that if he's available on waivers and
- 49:18I was I didn't have like a sure thing goalie situation, I would
- 49:21go and I would pick him up because Edmonton doesn't have
- 49:23the best schedule for week 24. But the fact that I can bank on
- 49:27on Ingram getting most of the starts on a team like this
- 49:31that's winning games, I would be significantly interested.
- 49:35Um, and I don't know if you have anything to add you, but we
- 49:38would do something honorable mentions that I want you guys to
- 49:40keep an eye on. Yeah, like I just in general, I
- 49:43mean he is the clear #1 on this list.
- 49:46Would you take him over a Binnington?
- 49:49Was it 48% owned? Yeah, 100% you would have been
- 49:53in the splitting starts for Saint Louis.
- 49:55St. Louis does have a six games this
- 49:58upcoming week. And also you have to, you have
- 50:00to keep in mind that like a lot of games are back-to-back.
- 50:03So there's some goalies that have like necessarily 2 back to
- 50:05backs, but you have to hold them for those back to backs being
- 50:09far apart type of thing. And that's not always fun
- 50:11because it feels like a dead roster spot most of the week.
- 50:14So I don't like doing that per se.
- 50:18Whereas for Edmonton, like their last game of the season is
- 50:21against Colorado. Like what is that Colorado look
- 50:23like? I don't know.
- 50:25But they also play, you know, they have a back-to-back with
- 50:27Utah and San Jose, I think. I mean, it can be when both of
- 50:29those games and then they play the Kings, who the King will be
- 50:31trying to win, but I feel like Edmonton always got their number
- 50:34so. Yeah, Speaking of the Kings, are
- 50:37you dropping Kemper for for Ingram?
- 50:41For Ingram, I think, I think at this point you have to like,
- 50:46it's the fall of camper also needs to be studied him in black
- 50:49with our besties. But LA has arguably the easiest
- 50:53strength of schedule going into this week 24.
- 50:57And it's like, OK, we have to talk about it too, because
- 51:00Forsberg has been kind of like saving their butt recently.
- 51:03I wanted to do a segue for that. That was perfect.
- 51:06Segue was complete. I was like, are you gonna do it?
- 51:08Are you gonna do it? Yeah, yeah.
- 51:11Thought process. So we finish each other's
- 51:13sandwiches. OK, yeah, we do.
- 51:17Speaking of sandwiches, I mean, Anton Forsberg, he's just he's
- 51:22just sandwiching those pucks and that crease, baby, nice.
- 51:25But no, I mean, listen, the the Kings are desperate.
- 51:28They're they're in desperado mode trying to make the playoffs
- 51:31right here. And Kemper is just not getting
- 51:33it done. Like they just lost against
- 51:34Nashville in the shootout to me. Listen, we're recording this
- 51:37before the games on Saturday, but if, um, if Forsberg gets the
- 51:43next game, like we don't know if he's gonna play that game yet or
- 51:46not, But if he plays that game, I feel like there, it's just the
- 51:48tide has been changing. And unless he poops the bed in
- 51:51that game, I think they might roll with him for the rest of
- 51:53the season. And that's why I'm saying keep
- 51:54an eye on horseback. Can't in good conscience
- 51:56recommend them right now with the information I have right
- 51:58now. But what we've seen, like he's
- 52:00played better than Kemper. Kemper just lost against
- 52:02Nashville and LA's desperate. So I would not be surprised if
- 52:05they roll Forsberg and say he has gives us the best chance to
- 52:08win right now. And if he becomes a starter and
- 52:10with the schedule to Ellie has, I would be really interested.
- 52:13Like I'm I pick him up over Freddie Anderson over Lankinen
- 52:16and be close between him and and Connor Ingram from you.
- 52:19Yeah, yeah. And then we got another one more
- 52:22honorable mention here as. Well, yeah, Carter Hart of the
- 52:25Vegas Golden Knights, he came back.
- 52:27I know a lot of people in Discord were asking me questions
- 52:29on if you're picking up Connor Carter Hart and if we're playing
- 52:33him. I said, listen, I do like Vegas
- 52:35to be a better team. They just did a coaching change.
- 52:38New coach Bump Aiden Hill has been questionable for most of
- 52:40this season. They don't like what they had
- 52:42from Akrish Meade. Carter Hart, they went and got
- 52:44him for a reason. He was awful before he got hurt.
- 52:47So I don't necessarily think he's a great goalie right now,
- 52:50but he's on a great team that's going to win games.
- 52:52I know they've been in the slump, but no new coach bump.
- 52:55They might be turning around. So keep an eye on it.
- 52:57I don't know right now if he's going to take over the starting
- 53:00job from Aiden Hill, but he came back and the first game he
- 53:02played, you won even though it was a shaky start.
- 53:05Maybe he gets more starts the rest of the season.
- 53:07Like he's the guy that they kind of like run to the playoffs
- 53:09with. It's just monitoring the
- 53:10situation. But he's like a name that might
- 53:12stand out. It's a weird one because if it
- 53:14was the same coach, I feel like I would not be as interested.
- 53:18I'd be like, you know what, the Cassidy Cassidy's kind of
- 53:22defaulted to Hill all season. And like, I also went so hard.
- 53:26Had exactly like Heart had the injury too, right?
- 53:30Yeah. So when Hart was was healthy, I
- 53:33know it was kind of a question mark, but it but at that point
- 53:36for most or all of it, if I remember correctly, Hill was not
- 53:39in the picture. So this is kind of the first
- 53:41time they're both there and with the new coach, like, I mean, if
- 53:45he gets the next game and it does play well, then I'm
- 53:47definitely interested. Vegas was bad.
- 53:48Like they were losing a lot of games.
- 53:50Like they got to a point where they were like, OK, there's a
- 53:52chance they might not make the playoffs.
- 53:53Like realistically nobody was even talking about it.
- 53:55But if you look at the standings, like it was close now
- 53:59it looks like a little bit better for them.
- 54:01But it all happened so fast. It was like, oh, yeah, Carter
- 54:03Hartley is he might return from injury soon.
- 54:05And the team definitely wants to give him some games before the
- 54:07end of the season. Then it's just like, Oh yeah, by
- 54:09the way, he's starting the next game and we're like, OK, so it's
- 54:11it's happening right now. It happened.
- 54:13They ended up winning, but he got a lot of goal support in
- 54:15that game. So take that with a grain of
- 54:18salt. But I'm just curious to see if
- 54:19he gets the next one. And if he does, I'm actually
- 54:21like, OK, listen, like he might be an option for you in your
- 54:24fantasy fantasy leagues in Week 24.
- 54:26All right, now we have the top three quality goalies.
- 54:31This requires a huge Asterix because I feel like everybody
- 54:35has already seen how goalies are playing back to backs.
- 54:38Now it's the end of the season and you feel like you can't
- 54:42necessarily rely on a back-to-back giving you split
- 54:46starts anymore. If a team is fighting for the
- 54:49playoffs or still in that picture, it feels like they're
- 54:51they're likely to play the same guy on the back-to-back if it
- 54:54gives them the best chance to win.
- 54:55We've seen it with Swami, Sawed, Sorokin, we've seen it with
- 54:58grieves in the past. So just really, really monitor
- 55:02the situation. But these these back to backs
- 55:04have way more risk now than earlier this year.
- 55:08So I just need to make sure people know.
- 55:11So I I kind of think that that this is interesting.
- 55:14OK, I'll list them off. And then we could kind of talk
- 55:17about like which games we think they'll get.
- 55:20We got Jacob Fowler Archer she loves and Alex Nedeljkovic.
- 55:24So OK, the way I see this is that the Habs are the most sure
- 55:31thing, I think out of all these teams.
- 55:34And it's kind of bold, I would say, to to say that there are
- 55:38more Kieran Pittsburgh. But I do think that they.
- 55:41Are things especially. Because I think they are too.
- 55:44So I'm glad we're on the same page there.
- 55:48Pittsburgh is sort of tried to go to skin or more.
- 55:50Yeah, doesn't. Work been yeah it has not worked
- 55:54it and like it's crazy because in the when they do the one game
- 55:58one game Skinner plays well and then when Skinner gets two games
- 56:00in a row at top and twice yeah not good not good.
- 56:03So I think that they're in quite the situation now as far as
- 56:09things go. I think that if if you're
- 56:11depending on one's to get a start it's gonna be it's gonna
- 56:16be Fowler. I think because at the same time
- 56:20they they are fighting for a playoff spot, but they also kind
- 56:24of want to make sure that they like rest Dobesh, who I think is
- 56:27a shoe in to start in the playoffs.
- 56:29Yeah, I mean, to me, Fowler made Low Key be my favorite because
- 56:34of the guarantee. What are you?
- 56:37No, I feel the same and it really just depends on like
- 56:41you're not picking these guys up in advance, right?
- 56:42You're picking them up either the same day that you know
- 56:44they're confirmed playing on the back-to-back or the day before
- 56:47in anticipation of game, getting the game on the back-to-back.
- 56:49So you're never making these as an advance and there's so many
- 56:53back to backs in this next 10 day stretch because there's so
- 56:56many games left in the season. So there's a variety of options
- 57:01and I think these are the ones that I kind of like targeted for
- 57:03the matchups. I do like followers if there's
- 57:06major back-to-back where they either Columbus or the Islanders
- 57:09and both teams are choking their playoff spots right now.
- 57:12And Fowler has been decent. The haves are great team,
- 57:15arguably one of the best teams in the league right now.
- 57:17So I'd be confident in, you know, Fowler's ability to play
- 57:20well in those games and then she loves.
- 57:22Listen, unless Pittsburgh really falls out of the picture, it
- 57:25feels like they're trying to find one of these goalies to run
- 57:27with it. I still think they're gonna keep
- 57:28alternating on the back-to-back. I expect both Skinner and she
- 57:31loves to get one of these games. She loves this.
- 57:33Less than 40% on skinners, like 43 or 44% owned.
- 57:35So he's on a consideration here, but both have not been great.
- 57:39So it's kind of just like, you know, hoping that you get a good
- 57:42performance out of them. They play the Caps on a
- 57:44back-to-back so they can find out the most threatening team
- 57:46right now either. Like they're not really in the
- 57:48playoff picture right now. So Pittsburgh could win those
- 57:51games and Pittsburgh wants to win games too.
- 57:53So I'm happy about that. But this last one thing is my
- 57:55favorite. So Nedeljkovic has a
- 57:57back-to-back. I think it's the last two days
- 58:00of the games of the season. Where do you play?
- 58:02Chicago and Winnipeg and San Jose is a must, must win
- 58:05territory like they might. It might be that, you know, they
- 58:08need to win out to to make the playoffs.
- 58:10And ask just came back from injury.
- 58:11He looked good. But Nedeljkovic has been like
- 58:13really good as well recently. So I think they split that
- 58:17back-to-back. And I would not be surprised if
- 58:19that hasn't really good game against either of those teams.
- 58:22I guess the reason that I was like for quality purposes still
- 58:27more on the Fowler trainings because Ned could have a bad
- 58:30game like under 7. 100 they're also selectable to that.
- 58:35I would say followers definitely on the best him he, but I think
- 58:38his matchups are a little harder because he's playing desperate
- 58:40teams, which I don't think Chicago and Winnipeg or
- 58:44desperate teams like maybe I think Winnipeg is probably gonna
- 58:46be eliminated from the playoffs at that point and Chicago just
- 58:49play with house money. They're just a fun team.
- 58:52Right, right. I think, I think the thing with
- 58:54the Dalvik is that he'll get, he'll get the starts like I, I
- 58:57really do think that Fowler's gonna get one, maybe 2 or as I
- 59:01would say in a Delkevic is, I think you could get 3.
- 59:04I don't think that's crazy. No, they have seven games this
- 59:07upcoming week. He could get 3 or 4.
- 59:08Like I think they put the back to backs and then besides that I
- 59:12think they gonna run with the guy gets them the most chances
- 59:14of wins. As we speak to currently on a
- 59:15four-game win streak and both guys have played during that
- 59:18stretch. Ashcraft just came back from
- 59:20injury. So I think it's just like you
- 59:22better and you make sure that you know the goal you're picking
- 59:25up is actually going to plan the day you want them to.
- 59:27And that's not the point. We're all crossing our fingers
- 59:30and hoping for some good quality from these guys.
- 59:33Yeah. I usually anything can happen.
- 59:35After, Yeah, yeah, After we cover the goalie section, I'm
- 59:38usually like, I really like the quantity guys more than the
- 59:40quality guys. I think that this is a different
- 59:42story because this is like this is that week where anything
- 59:45could happen. Guys this is what we say, go 0
- 59:49genier drafts. Goalies that have been really
- 59:52good the whole season can have off weeks and that can ruin your
- 59:55whole league, so might as well not invest your top picks on
- 59:57them like we saw Ottinger. We do do and get, you know,
- 1:00:01people eliminated from the playoffs in the semis, in the
- 1:00:03quarter finals. And then this upcoming game, he
- 1:00:05just got a shutout and helped a lot of people out, right?
- 1:00:08But he was like, so bad before the people didn't wanna start
- 1:00:11him. Then you have Temper, who has
- 1:00:12been so bad that nobody's starting him and then he gets a
- 1:00:14shout out and then you're like, Oh my God, yeah, Temper.
- 1:00:16Then he plays again. He's sucks.
- 1:00:18So it's just kind of like, you know, how are we supposed to be
- 1:00:22rational about any of this? It's too crazy, but it's so.
- 1:00:25Fun. Yeah, Sorokin let's six goals in
- 1:00:28and then he they play him again in the back-to-back and he gets
- 1:00:30a shout out on the back-to-back. He said he can't make this up.
- 1:00:33I know, I know, it's not OK. Thank you everybody for
- 1:00:37listening to our Week 24 waivers episode.
- 1:00:42I like it. I'm not in Week 24.
- 1:00:45As we spoke about, I don't have any leagues in Week 24.
- 1:00:47Do you have any leagues in Week 20?
- 1:00:48Four. Yeah, I'm in a few Yahoo public
- 1:00:52leagues just for for fun and to keep a pulse on how those
- 1:00:57leagues look like. And those are all Week 24
- 1:00:59championships. So I think honestly, in every
- 1:01:01league I'm in there, which is not many, I'm probably going to
- 1:01:05be a shoe in for the championship.
- 1:01:06So hopefully I take those home because I'm probably gonna lose
- 1:01:09against Jackie and look at my watch.
- 1:01:13But you can see my timeline for my watch.
- 1:01:15Yeah, if you had your existent watch and if it happened to be
- 1:01:19able to see NHL scores, you would know that Vladar is not
- 1:01:22getting a shower right now, so. No, he's only like winning three
- 1:01:26one against the Islanders. Yeah, that.
- 1:01:29Yeah, exactly. Not 3.
- 1:01:31Zero. Yeah, yeah, shut up.
- 1:01:34You just needed a good. You just needed a good game.
- 1:01:36I could have definitely used the shutout Mr. Shorthanded point on
- 1:01:40Monday. Yeah, and you got a shorthand
- 1:01:43the point yesterday, but you don't.
- 1:01:45Monday, it doesn't matter anyways.
