- 0:48Welcome to the Daily Audio Torah. Today is October 24th.
- 0:53Now let's continue our journey reading through the entire Bible in
- 0:571 year. This week we are reading from the Israel Bible for the
- 1:00Old Testament and from the King James for the New Testament.
- 1:08Jeremiah 44:24-47:7.
- 1:18Jeremiah further said to all the people and to all the women, Hear the word
- 1:22of Hashem, all Judeans in the land of Egypt.
- 1:26Thus said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, You and
- 1:30your wives have confirmed by deed what you spoke in words.
- 1:34We will fulfill the vows which we made to burn incense to
- 1:38the Queen of Heaven and to pour libations to her.
- 1:41So fulfill your vows, perform your vows.
- 1:45Yet hear the word of Hashem, all Judeans who dwell
- 1:48in the land of Egypt. Lo, I swear by
- 1:52my great name, says Hashem, that none of the men of Judah
- 1:56in all the land of Egypt shall ever again invoke my name,
- 1:59saying, As Hashem lives!
- 2:02I will be watchful over them to their hurt, not to their
- 2:06benefit. All the men of Judah in the land of Egypt shall be consumed
- 2:10by sword and by famine until they cease to be.
- 2:14Only the few who survive the sword shall return from the land of
- 2:18Egypt to the land of Judah. All the remnant of Judah who came to
- 2:21the land of Egypt to sojourn there shall learn whose word
- 2:25will be fulfilled, mine or
- 2:29theirs. And this shall be the sign to you,
- 2:32declares Hashem, that I am going to deal with you in this place,
- 2:35so that you may know that my threats of punishment against you will be fulfilled.
- 2:40Thus said Hashem: I will deliver Pharaoh Hophra,
- 2:45king of Egypt, into the hands of his enemies, those who
- 2:49seek his life, just as I delivered King Zedekiah of Judah
- 2:52into the hands of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, his enemy who sought
- 2:57his life. The word which the Navi Jeremiah
- 3:01spoke to Baruch son of Neriah when he was writing these words
- 3:05in a scroll at Jeremiah's dictation in the 4th year of King Jehoiakim
- 3:09son of Josiah of Judah. Thus said Hashem,
- 3:13the God of Israel, concerning you, Baruch: You say,
- 3:17Woe is me! Hashem has added grief to my
- 3:20pain. I am worn out with groaning, and I have found
- 3:24no rest. Thus shall you speak to him: Thus said Hashem:
- 3:28I am going to overthrow what I have built and uproot what I have planted.
- 3:32This applies to the whole land. And do you expect
- 3:36great things for yourself? Don't expect them, for I am going to
- 3:40bring disaster upon all flesh, declares Hashem.
- 3:44But I will at least grant you your life in all the places
- 3:47where you may go.
- 3:52The Word of Hashem to the Navi Jeremiah concerning the nations.
- 3:56Concerning Egypt, about the army of Pharaoh Necho,
- 4:00king of Egypt, which was at the River Euphrates near Carchemish.
- 4:04And which was defeated by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon in the 4th year
- 4:08of King Jehoiachin son of Josiah of Judah.
- 4:11Get ready buckler and shield and move forward to battle!
- 4:15Harness the horses! Mount, you horsemen! Fall in
- 4:19line, helmets on! Burnish the lances! Don your armor!
- 4:23Why do I see them dismayed, yielding ground?
- 4:26Their fighters are crushed! They flee in haste and
- 4:29do not turn back! Terror all around, declares Hashem.
- 4:34The swift cannot get away, the warrior cannot escape.
- 4:38In the north, by the River Euphrates, they stagger and fall.
- 4:42Who is this that rises like the Nile, like streams whose waters
- 4:46surge? It is Egypt that rises like
- 4:49the Nile, like streams whose waters surge, that said, I will
- 4:53rise, I will cover the earth, I will wipe out towns and
- 4:58those who dwell in them. Advance, O horses!
- 5:02Dash madly, O chariots! Let the warriors go
- 5:06forth, Kush and Put, that grasp the shield, and the Ludim
- 5:10who grasp and draw the bow. But that day shall be
- 5:14for the Lord of Hosts a day when He exacts retribution from His foes.
- 5:19The sword shall devour, it shall be sated and drunk
- 5:23with their blood, for the Lord of Hosts is preparing a sacrifice in
- 5:26the Northland by the River Euphrates. Go up to Gilead and
- 5:30get balm, fair maiden Egypt! In vain do you seek many
- 5:34remedies, there is no healing for you. Nations have
- 5:38heard your shame, the earth resounds with your screams. Where warrior
- 5:43stumbles against warrior, the two fall down together.
- 5:46The word which Hashem spoke to the Navi Jeremiah about the
- 5:50coming of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon to attack the land of
- 5:54Egypt. Declare in Egypt, proclaim in Migdol,
- 5:58proclaim in Naphtali and Tapanes. Say, take your posts and
- 6:02stand ready, for the sword has devoured all around you.
- 6:06Why are your stalwarts swept away? They did not stand
- 6:10firm, for Hashem thrust them down. He made many stumble,
- 6:14they fell over one another. They said, up, let us return to
- 6:18our people, to the land of our birth, because of the deadly sword.
- 6:22There they called Pharaoh, king of Egypt, Braggart, who let the hour
- 6:26go by. As I live, declares the King whose name is
- 6:30the Lord of Hosts, Yahweh-Savayot, as surely as
- 6:34Tabor is among the mountains and Carmel is by the sea,
- 6:37so shall this come to pass.
- 6:40Equip yourself for exile, fair Egypt, you who dwell secure,
- 6:45for Napht shall become a waste, desolate, without inhabitants.
- 6:49Egypt is a handsome heifer. A gadfly from the north is
- 6:53coming, coming. The mercenaries too in her midst
- 6:56are like stall-fed calves. They too shall turn tail, flee as
- 7:00one, and make no stand. Their day of disaster is upon
- 7:04them, the hour of their doom. She shall rustle
- 7:08away like a snake. As they come marching in force, they shall come
- 7:11against her with axes like hewers of wood.
- 7:15They shall cut down her forest, declares Hashem, though it cannot be measured.
- 7:20For they are more numerous than locusts and cannot be counted. There Egypt
- 7:25shall be shamed, handed over to the people of the north.
- 7:28The Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, has said,
- 7:31I will inflict punishment on Ammon of Noah and on Pharaoh,
- 7:35on Egypt, her gods and her kings, on Pharaoh and all who
- 7:40rely on him. I will deliver them into the hands of those who seek to
- 7:44kill them. Into the hands of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and into
- 7:47the hands of his subjects. But afterwards she shall be inhabited again
- 7:52as in former days, declares Hashem. But you,
- 7:56have no fear, My servant Jacob. Be not dismayed,
- 7:59O Israel. I will deliver you from far away, your folk
- 8:03from their land of captivity, and Jacob again shall have
- 8:06calm and quiet with none to trouble him. But you,
- 8:10Have no fear, my servant Jacob, declares Hashem,
- 8:13for I am with you. I will make an end of
- 8:17all the nations among which I have banished you,
- 8:21but I will not make an end of you. I will not leave
- 8:24you unpunished, but I will chastise you in measure.
- 8:29The word of Hashem that came to Navi Jeremiah concerning the Philistines
- 8:33before Pharaoh conquered Gaza. Thus said
- 8:38Hashem: See, waters are rising from the north.
- 8:42They shall become a raging torrent. They shall flood the
- 8:46land and its creatures, the towns and their inhabitants.
- 8:49Men shall cry out, all the inhabitants of the land shall howl
- 8:54at the clatter of the stamping hoofs of his stallions,
- 8:57at the noise of his chariots, the rumbling of their wheels.
- 9:00Fathers shall not look to their children out of sheer helplessness because
- 9:05of the day that is coming. We're ravaging all the Philistines.
- 9:09We're cutting off every last ally of Tyre and Sidon.
- 9:13For Hashem will ravage the Philistines, the remnant
- 9:17from the island of Caphtor. Baldness has come upon
- 9:21Gaza. Ashkelon is destroyed. O remnant
- 9:25of their valley, how long will you gash yourself? O sword of Hashem,
- 9:30when will you be quiet at last? Withdraw into your sheath,
- 9:34rest and be still. How can it be quiet
- 9:38when Hashem has given it orders against Ashkelon and the seacoast,
- 9:42given it assignment there?
- 9:502 Timothy 2:22-3:17.
- 10:00Flee also youthful lusts,
- 10:03but follow righteousness, faith, charity,
- 10:06peace with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
- 10:11But foolish and unlearned questions avoid,
- 10:14knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the
- 10:18Lord must not strive, but be gentle to all men,
- 10:22apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing
- 10:26those that oppose themselves, if God peradventure
- 10:30will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth, and that they
- 10:34may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive
- 10:37by him at his will. This know also,
- 10:41that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men
- 10:45shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous,
- 10:48boasters, proud, blasphemers,
- 10:52disobedient to parents, unthankful,
- 10:56unholy, without natural affection,
- 10:59trucebreakers, false accusers,
- 11:02incontinent, fierce,
- 11:05despisers of those that are good, traitors,
- 11:08heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasure more
- 11:12than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but
- 11:16denying the power thereof, From such turn
- 11:20away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses and
- 11:24lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with
- 11:28various lusts, ever learning and never able to
- 11:31come to the knowledge of the truth.
- 11:36Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these
- 11:40also resist the truth, men of corrupt minds,
- 11:43reprobate concerning the faith, But they shall proceed
- 11:47no further, for their folly shall be manifest unto all men,
- 11:51as theirs also was. But you have fully known
- 11:55my doctrine, manner of life, purpose,
- 11:58faith, longsuffering, charity, and patience; persecutions,
- 12:02afflictions, which came to me at Antioch, at Iconium,
- 12:06at Lystra; what persecutions I endured! But out of
- 12:10them all the Lord delivered me, Yes, and all that
- 12:13will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
- 12:20But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse,
- 12:24deceiving and being deceived.
- 12:29But continue in the things which you have learned and have been
- 12:32assured of, knowing of whom you have learned them, and that from
- 12:36a child you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to
- 12:40make thee— you wise to salvation
- 12:43through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture
- 12:47is given by inspiration of God and is profitable
- 12:51for doctrine, for reproof,
- 12:54for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
- 12:58that the man of God may be perfect,
- 13:01thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
- 13:08Psalm 94:1-23.
- 13:13O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongs! O God, to whom vengeance
- 13:17belongs! Show Yourself! Lift up Yourself, You Judge of
- 13:21the earth! Render a reward to the proud! Lord, how long shall the
- 13:26wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? How long shall they
- 13:29utter and speak hard things, and all the workers of iniquity
- 13:33boast themselves? They break pieces your people, O Lord,
- 13:37and afflict your inheritance. They slay the widow
- 13:41and the stranger and murder the fatherless.
- 13:44Yet they say, the Lord shall not see, neither shall the God
- 13:49of Jacob regard it. Understand, you brutish among the people,
- 13:52and you fools, when will you be wise?
- 13:55He that planted the ears, shall he not hear?
- 13:58He that formed the eye, shall he not see? He that chastised
- 14:02the heathen, shall he not correct? He that teaches man knowledge,
- 14:06shall not he know? The Lord knows the thoughts of
- 14:10man, that they are vanity. Blessed is the man whom
- 14:14You chasten, O Lord, and teach him out of Your law, that You may
- 14:18give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be
- 14:22dug for the wicked. For the Lord will not cast off His people,
- 14:26neither will He forsake His inheritance. But judgment shall
- 14:30return to righteousness, and all the upright in heart
- 14:34shall follow it. Who will rise up for me against
- 14:38evildoers?
- 14:43Or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
- 14:46Unless the Lord had been my help, and my soul had almost
- 14:51dwelt in silence, when I said, My foot slips, Your mercy,
- 14:55O Lord, held me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me,
- 14:59Your comforts delight my soul. Shall the throne of iniquity have
- 15:04fellowship with you, which frames mischief by a law?
- 15:07They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous,
- 15:11and condemn the innocent blood. But the Lord is
- 15:15my defense, and my God is the rock of my refuge.
- 15:19And He shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut
- 15:24them off in their own wickedness. Yes, the Lord our God shall
- 15:28cut them off.
- 15:31Proverbs 26:6-8.
- 15:35He that sends a message by the hand of a fool cuts off
- 15:38the feet and drinks damage. The legs of the lame are not equal,
- 15:43so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
- 15:46As he that binds a stone in a sling, so is he that
- 15:49gives honor to a fool.
- 15:53I want to zoom in on Jeremiah chapter 47 today,
- 15:57and it's very, very relevant to look at and unpack
- 16:01it in light of the recent 2-year war
- 16:05between Hamas in Gaza and
- 16:09Israel. And actually, it was a 7-front war, an 8-front war.
- 16:13They were also fighting the Houthis in Yemen,
- 16:18the terrorists up on the Lebanon border,
- 16:22Hezbollah and Iran. And then
- 16:25there was the information war. But Jeremiah chapter 47
- 16:30really gives us some clues as to what's going
- 16:33to go on and happen in the area of Gaza.
- 16:37Now, I have a theory I'll
- 16:41float by you.
- 16:45Is it possible— I'll pose it as a question— is it possible that the
- 16:48ancient Philistines, who were always the ancient enemies
- 16:52against Israel, that those descendants,
- 16:56either physical descendants or spiritual,
- 17:00spiritual descendants, that those ancient Philistines are
- 17:04the modern-day Gazans or Palestinians.
- 17:09Now, why I think this might be so is because if
- 17:13you recall the story of Samson, he went down to
- 17:16Gaza and he fought the Philistines there.
- 17:20And that's where he met Delilah. And ultimately, when he was
- 17:23captured by the Philistines, he went down to Gaza.
- 17:27So Gaza was always part
- 17:31of the territory of Israel, but it's always been a piece
- 17:36of land that's been hotly contested, and it's also been
- 17:39a territory that was formerly inhabited
- 17:44by the Philistines. So having said all that, let's look at Jeremiah chapter
- 17:4847. The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet
- 17:52against the Philistines, modern-day Gazans,
- 17:56before Pharaoh attacked Gaza. So we
- 18:01can look at this from a historical context, but also from a
- 18:05prophetic context of what's going on with Gaza
- 18:09and Israel today. Verse 2, thus says the Lord, behold,
- 18:12waters rise out of the north and shall be an overflowing flood,
- 18:16and they shall overthrow overflow the land and all that is
- 18:19in it, the city and those who dwell within. Then the men
- 18:23shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.
- 18:27Now, there's a lot of wailing going on right now in Gaza
- 18:30as I record this. Trump's 20-point peace
- 18:34plan has been signed off. Trump went
- 18:37to visit Israel and was there to greet hostages,
- 18:41the living hostages, and then he flew on to Egypt
- 18:45And there were people at the table to sign the
- 18:4920-point peace plan. And it was a very broad coalition
- 18:53that he built, him and his team, with Saudi Arabia,
- 18:58with Egypt, with Jordan, with Qatar,
- 19:01with all these nations. And basically, they're saying to Hamas,
- 19:05we want this war to end. We want you to return the
- 19:08hostages, all of them, and we want you to lay down
- 19:12your arms. Give up your arms and you can leave
- 19:16peaceably and go into exile.
- 19:19But you cannot remain as any kind of an entity
- 19:22or an organization, and you cannot remain armed as a military
- 19:26terrorist organization any longer. That's the bottom line
- 19:30in this peace treaty.
- 19:33So continuing on, verse 3,
- 19:36at the noise of the stamping hooves of his strong horses,
- 19:40at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels,
- 19:43the fathers will not look back for their children,
- 19:47lacking courage. And in the previous verse,
- 19:50the men shall cry and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail. Well,
- 19:54what's been going on now is that as Israel has done a
- 19:58partial withdrawal of their presence in Gaza,
- 20:02Hamas has been executing those that they perceive
- 20:06to be traitors, treacherous traitors.
- 20:10They're executing Palestinians, they're executing Gazans who live
- 20:13there, who they believe have been cooperating with
- 20:17Israel and just shooting them,
- 20:20executing them. And so verse 4,
- 20:23because of the day that comes to plunder all the Philistines,
- 20:29let's say all of Hamas,
- 20:32to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains,
- 20:36for the Lord shall plunder the Philistines.
- 20:40The Lord shall plunder the Hamas organization,
- 20:45the remnant of the country of Caphtor.
- 20:49Baldness has come upon Gaza.
- 20:53Let's think about that. When you go to a barber and
- 20:57if the barber cuts off all of your hair and
- 21:01you're bald, there's nothing there. It's just a bald head. That's pretty much what's happened
- 21:06to Gaza. When you look at the pictures of Gaza today, It is 90%
- 21:11totally decimated. All the
- 21:14high-rise buildings are nothing but rubble.
- 21:18Gaza has become bald.
- 21:23It goes on to say, with the remnant of their valley, how long
- 21:27will you cut yourself? Oh, you sword of the Lord,
- 21:30how long until you are quiet?
- 21:33Put yourself up into your scabbard, rest and be still.
- 21:37So you could say that the Lord has used
- 21:41Israel as His sword of the Lord to
- 21:46bring judgment upon Gaza for all the terrorism
- 21:50and for the murder and the blood on their hands and for the horrendous
- 21:54murderous things that they did on October 7th,
- 21:572023. Verse 7,
- 22:01how can it be quiet seeing the Lord has given it a charge against
- 22:04Ashkelon and against the seashore? There He
- 22:08has appointed it. So this whole chapter
- 22:11is talking about God's judgment upon the seashore.
- 22:15Gaza is the seashore. Ashkelon is actually in Israeli
- 22:19territory. It's not part of Gaza. It's just outside of
- 22:23the Gaza envelope, just to the north. So now there's
- 22:272 other passages I want to look at that also talk about Gaza
- 22:31in a prophetic sense. The first is
- 22:35Zephaniah chapter 2,
- 22:38and it begins in verse 4.
- 22:42For Gaza shall be forsaken.
- 22:46Is Gaza forsaken today? Absolutely.
- 22:50It's been decimated. And as this 20-point
- 22:54phase 2 of the peace plan rolls out, basically,
- 22:59all the inhabitants are going to need to leave. They're going to need to
- 23:03go into exile because it's going to probably take a good 10
- 23:06or even 15 years to rebuild Gaza into something that's
- 23:10habitable. So it is forsaken.
- 23:14And Ashkelon desolate. They shall drive out
- 23:18Ashdod at noonday, and Ekron shall be uprooted.
- 23:23And continuing on in Zephaniah chapter 2, verse 5,
- 23:26woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast.
- 23:30That's referring to Gaza, the seacoast,
- 23:34the nation of the Cherethites. Now that
- 23:38word Cherethites, it's very interesting when you look at that
- 23:41word Cherethites in the Hebrew to see what it
- 23:44means. Cherethites is— what
- 23:49it means is executioners.
- 23:52Executioners. And it's a group
- 23:56of foreign mercenary soldiers serving as a bodyguard for King
- 24:00David, also known as executioners.
- 24:06The word Cherethites, when you look it up in the Hebrew,
- 24:09what it means is executioners. And that is exactly
- 24:13what Hamas terrorists are. They are executioners.
- 24:17They are executing their own people. Even as the Israeli
- 24:21troops have withdrawn, they're taking some of their own people that they perceive
- 24:25or believe that they are traitors and
- 24:28just shooting them in the head and just killing them point-blank.
- 24:32Executioners. It goes on
- 24:36to say, woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast.
- 24:39Zephaniah 2:5, the nation of the Cherethites, the nation
- 24:43of the executioners. Boy, that really truly
- 24:47does describe the Gaza territory.
- 24:52The word of the Lord is against you, O Canaan,
- 24:55land of the Philistines. I will destroy
- 24:59you so there shall be no inhabitant.
- 25:04And that's exactly what we have seen as the
- 25:07outcome of this war.
- 25:11Now there are some inhabitants, but I'm assuming that
- 25:15eventually they're going to leave. Who's going to want to live there where
- 25:19all the buildings are nothing but rubble and basically you exist
- 25:23in a tent? The last scripture I want to look at is Amos
- 25:26chapter 1 starting in verse 6.
- 25:31Thus says the Lord, for 3 transgressions of Gaza and for
- 25:354 I will not turn away its punishment because
- 25:40they took captive the whole captivity to deliver
- 25:45them up to Edom. Now that could be a historical reference because
- 25:49Edom is an ancient nation that doesn't exist today, but you
- 25:54could say that the foundations of Edom gave rise
- 25:59to Rome and the Roman Empire and then to the whole Western
- 26:04world. Verse 7, Amos chapter 1, verse 7,
- 26:08but I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza,
- 26:12which shall devour its palaces. Wow!
- 26:17That's exactly what has happened in the last 3 years.
- 26:21A fire has been sent upon the walls of Gaza.
- 26:25There's been many, many, many bombs set
- 26:29off. And firepower against Gaza to destroy
- 26:33the buildings, to destroy the arms caches and weapons caches,
- 26:37to destroy all of the terrorist tunnels where
- 26:41so many of our precious hostages were kept in
- 26:45the dark in terrible, terrible conditions.
- 26:49I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza, says the Lord,
- 26:54which shall devour its palaces.
- 26:59So it's truly a living word.
- 27:02It's like reading the headlines out of our Bible with
- 27:06what's happening in the Middle East.
- 27:11I want to wrap up with our reading from 2 Timothy.
- 27:162 Timothy 2:16 is a scripture verse that
- 27:19would be really great to memorize if you have not already memorized
- 27:24it. It's an important principle to keep at the forefront
- 27:27of your mind as you read the Word of God. All Scripture
- 27:31is given by inspiration of God and is profitable
- 27:36for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
- 27:39for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God
- 27:43may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all
- 27:47good works. So This
- 27:50basically tells us in a nutshell what is the purpose of the Scripture.
- 27:54The Scripture comes from God. Yeah, you know,
- 27:58it's His Word. He had
- 28:02the Word written down by men, and they
- 28:06were carried along by the Holy Spirit as they wrote, as they inked and penned
- 28:11the Scriptures. And it's given by inspiration
- 28:14of God, and it's profitable for doctrine to give us good doctrine,
- 28:18sound doctrine, doctrine that is right and
- 28:22true and correct, for reproof and correction— correction
- 28:26when we're out of sync, we're out of line, we're over the line, we're— we
- 28:31need to be corrected because we've gone down the wrong path, we've sinned— for
- 28:36instruction in righteousness to teach us how to walk
- 28:40in righteousness. Why? What's the purpose of all of that?
- 28:43So that the man or woman of God may be perfect,
- 28:48thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
- 28:52So it's to help us to grow and to mature so
- 28:56that we can do good works, um,
- 29:01for the kingdom of God, for God's people, for the bride of Christ.
- 29:05So thank you for listening. Have a blessed
- 29:09day, and we will see you tomorrow. Shalom.
