- 0:24Speaker 1: I'll try the lawnmar next week.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Is the point of the point of the Lord?
- 0:29Speaker 1: Is that?
- 0:29Speaker 2: What that answer?
- 0:30Speaker 1: That's right? Yeah? Yes, point to the Lord? Yeah?
- 0:34Speaker 2: Nice? How you doing? Man?
- 0:37Speaker 1: I'm good, I'm good. How are you?
- 0:39Speaker 2: I'm good, I'm good. Just waking up?
- 0:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah what what? What time is it over there?
- 0:44Speaker 1: And uh seven am, Okay, it's it's minutes ago. Okay, okay, yeah,
- 0:51Speaker 1: it's it's ted ay of here. So but I've already
- 0:54Speaker 1: been on a bicycle ride and made some breakfast and
- 0:57Speaker 1: did a couple of chores around the house. So yeah,
- 1:00Speaker 1: I'm trying to sound more you know, productive that I
- 1:06Speaker 1: that I actually usually have.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Well, guessing's done. I saw you were at the Blueberry Festival.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I was. I was at the Blueberry Festival in South Haven,
- 1:15Speaker 1: Michigan yesterday with my wife. We're kind of doing a
- 1:17Speaker 1: little anniversary motorcycle ride. So we've been married twenty one years,
- 1:25Speaker 1: so thank you, thank you? Is that motorcycle with my wife?
- 1:30Speaker 1: I had to think about that for a second.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't know which anniversary.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Was right right. Yeah, we have an annual little thing.
- 1:37Speaker 1: We're on our anniversary. We take a take a bike ride.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Sometimes it's a weekend trip, sometimes it's just a one
- 1:43Speaker 1: day so that's cool.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:46Speaker 1: In fact, I'm drinking blueberry blueberry coffee right now, so
- 1:52Speaker 1: it's delicious. So yeah, every every year they have the
- 1:55Speaker 1: National Blueberry Festival and South Haven is a harbor town,
- 1:58Speaker 1: so it's right on Lake Michigan's so it's a big
- 2:02Speaker 1: festival with craft fairs and pieing contests and vendors and
- 2:07Speaker 1: it's really cool.
- 2:08Speaker 2: So that's really cool.
- 2:10Speaker 1: But welcome to Blueberry Fest Talk everybody. My name, my
- 2:16Speaker 1: name is Scott. One of your co hosts with me
- 2:18Speaker 1: today is Daniel, the other Blueberry Talk podcast co host. Yeah, uh,
- 2:30Speaker 1: all right, what are we here doing today?
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yeah, so we are going to be reviewing Prodigy season
- 2:37Speaker 2: two episodes three and four. I don't have the titles
- 2:41Speaker 2: of the episodes right in front of me, but yeah,
- 2:45Speaker 2: so it's it's the show for the kids. You know,
- 2:47Speaker 2: we got some time between now and Lower Decks starting
- 2:51Speaker 2: up at the end of October, so you know, we're
- 2:53Speaker 2: looking for Star Trek things to talk about, and we've
- 2:57Speaker 2: had a lot of our listeners say, oh, you should
- 2:59Speaker 2: look at at lower at prodigies. So all right, we'll
- 3:03Speaker 2: keep looking absolutely absolutely so. But yeah, before we get
- 3:11Speaker 2: into that, though, let's get into the Star Trek news.
- 3:13Speaker 2: We do have some news stories.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Great Star Trek news.
- 3:19Speaker 2: All right, So our first news story is a is
- 3:21Speaker 2: it a sad story? This is pretty much rocked the
- 3:25Speaker 2: Star Trek community. But actress Patty Yes, TAKEI I think
- 3:32Speaker 2: is the pronunciation.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I think that's right.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Yeah, she has passed away. She was better known as
- 3:38Speaker 2: Nurse Ogawa on the Next Generation. She also played in
- 3:44Speaker 2: Beef that I'm not familiar with. But she she died
- 3:48Speaker 2: of a rear form of lymphoma. So she was seventy
- 3:53Speaker 2: years old. And yeah, that's it's sad, you know it is.
- 3:58Speaker 1: She will be messed for sure.
- 4:01Speaker 2: A lot of people were mentioning in our in our
- 4:03Speaker 2: groups all around the internet how much they loved her character,
- 4:07Speaker 2: that they met her at conventions and she was always
- 4:09Speaker 2: a sweetheart.
- 4:10Speaker 1: So yeah, she was. She was only in and you know,
- 4:15Speaker 1: out of the one hundred and seventy nine Next Generation episode,
- 4:17Speaker 1: she was only in a handful of them, like maybe
- 4:19Speaker 1: a couple dozen maybe, yeah, or so, but you know,
- 4:24Speaker 1: she always she always brought it, you know, especially in uh, well,
- 4:28Speaker 1: in in the episode Lower Decks. You know, she played
- 4:32Speaker 1: a big part in Lower Decks in Parallels where she
- 4:35Speaker 1: played doctor Ogaway, you know, and uh, we got a
- 4:41Speaker 1: little bit of an insight onto her, you know, Neur's
- 4:43Speaker 1: so Guy's personal life when she was talking about you know,
- 4:45Speaker 1: being engaged and stuff like that. So I really enjoyed
- 4:48Speaker 1: her character. And I thought the actress, you know, really
- 4:50Speaker 1: really brought it.
- 4:51Speaker 2: So yeah, me too. So it's sad that she's gone,
- 4:55Speaker 2: but yeah, you know, we we've got those memories.
- 4:58Speaker 1: So and she's part of a long line of you know,
- 5:02Speaker 1: sort of important side characters and nursing characters too, you know. Yeah,
- 5:07Speaker 1: we got side side character nurses in original series and
- 5:10Speaker 1: in Strange New Worlds, and and and although they usually
- 5:13Speaker 1: have small parts, maybe not in Strange Worlds, but they
- 5:16Speaker 1: have important parts. And and I think it's important to
- 5:19Speaker 1: remember that some of these you know, side characters, these
- 5:22Speaker 1: you know, sort of smaller characters. Without them, really the
- 5:26Speaker 1: story doesn't come to life, you know. Could they do
- 5:29Speaker 1: a story like Lower Decks without Nurse Ogawa. Well, in
- 5:32Speaker 1: the case of Lower decks. No they couldn't, you know, so,
- 5:36Speaker 1: but they really bring a depth to the storyline. And uh,
- 5:41Speaker 1: like I said, she'll be missed absolutely.
- 5:44Speaker 2: All Right, our next news story, because I'm a glutton
- 5:47Speaker 2: for punishment, let's talk about Paramount. What's going on with it?
- 5:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sorry, did you hear that? Was that audible?
- 5:55Speaker 2: That was very audible, very audible. So Paramount has announced
- 5:59Speaker 2: this that it's going to make a fifteen percent workforce cut.
- 6:05Speaker 2: You know, this is typically moves you make as you're
- 6:08Speaker 2: about to be sold, So that that is going on. Also,
- 6:12Speaker 2: it was recently announced that Sony has withdrawn their offer,
- 6:15Speaker 2: so it's looking more and more like that Skydance deal
- 6:18Speaker 2: is going to go through. One of the reasons why Paramount,
- 6:22Speaker 2: like people were wondering, well, why would they cut their
- 6:24Speaker 2: workforce now they're about to be sold. Who cares? Because
- 6:27Speaker 2: that increases the profit margin that they get. They've negotiated
- 6:30Speaker 2: the price, so now that's just more money for the
- 6:33Speaker 2: owners to make on the back end because less people
- 6:37Speaker 2: to pay them between now and then.
- 6:39Speaker 1: So yeah, like like the Federation towards the end of
- 6:42Speaker 1: the Dominion War, everybody smells the scent of death in Paramount.
- 6:47Speaker 2: That's right, that's right. These kinds of things is going
- 6:51Speaker 2: to be bring up the bell riots.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Right right.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so yeah, so we'll see what happens. I
- 6:58Speaker 2: don't know when the end date for this sky Dance
- 7:03Speaker 2: deal should go through, Probably pretty soon. I don't think
- 7:05Speaker 2: they have a long time to go through, because right
- 7:08Speaker 2: now what they're doing is they're going around looking to
- 7:11Speaker 2: see if anyone else is interested and wants to do
- 7:13Speaker 2: a counter offer.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I was just gonna say, yeah, it'll finalize about the
- 7:18Speaker 1: time that we find out that the deal fell through,
- 7:20Speaker 1: and you know, all.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Right, right, yeah, so that that's where we're with Paramount.
- 7:26Speaker 2: So yeah, and then our last news story comes to
- 7:30Speaker 2: us from uh is it iFilm? Yeah, slash film dot Com,
- 7:36Speaker 2: and Rebecca Romaine is saying that Star Trek trekkies are
- 7:41Speaker 2: less scary than Marvel fans. This is kind of an
- 7:45Speaker 2: interesting take, that's interesting.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 2: She says that at conventions, the the Start Trek fans
- 7:51Speaker 2: tend to be very positive and very welcoming, and you know,
- 7:57Speaker 2: even if they don't like the show, they'll they'll say
- 8:00Speaker 2: good things about the actor and actress, whereas the Marvel
- 8:02Speaker 2: fans tend to be a little bit more like, well
- 8:04Speaker 2: how come you don't know this about your character and
- 8:07Speaker 2: what's gonna happen next, and a little more accusatory, you know,
- 8:10Speaker 2: not always, not always, but just overall she's had more
- 8:16Speaker 2: positive interactions with Treky's than with Marvel characters.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Okay, you know, uh that's what we're supposed to have
- 8:26Speaker 1: a Midwest accent, not a Northeast.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, I imagine on that bend
- 8:34Speaker 2: diagram there's a lot of overlapping between those fan bases, so.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Oh, i'd have to imagine, yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, just so, uh so, be nice to
- 8:42Speaker 2: the actors when you get to meet them.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Guys, absolutely, of course, you know you think that would
- 8:48Speaker 1: go without saying.
- 8:48Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, if you don't like the actor
- 8:52Speaker 2: or don't like the show, just walk away. You don't
- 8:55Speaker 2: have to, right, Yeah, you hear that.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Marvel fans.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Go be a jerk, that's right, that's right, Be nice
- 9:05Speaker 2: and calm like those Stargate fans, right exactly, all three
- 9:08Speaker 2: of them. Oh yeah, that's right, that's right. So all right,
- 9:20Speaker 2: Well that is all the Star Trek news. Any other
- 9:25Speaker 2: news stories that you saw that you wanted to bring up.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Or uh no, not really, although if I if I
- 9:33Speaker 1: had known you were gonna ask me that question, I
- 9:34Speaker 1: probably would have come up with a plethora of like
- 9:37Speaker 1: out there news stories.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Well we did have, yeah, we did have. D twenty
- 9:42Speaker 2: three was going on. Disney was making a ton of announcements.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, yep. So we saw.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Clips from the Next Captain America to Daredevil too, all
- 9:57Speaker 2: all sorts of different things.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Speaking of live action Lee oh and Stitch, Yeah, yeah,
- 10:03Speaker 1: people have opinions on that, did you Yes, they do,
- 10:07Speaker 1: you know. I I don't know how old I was
- 10:09Speaker 1: when the first one came out, probably not the age
- 10:11Speaker 1: that you know they were targeting at the time. But
- 10:14Speaker 1: I saw the movie. I like the movie. I'll probably
- 10:16Speaker 1: see the live action.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Yeah. I think the the IT films. It feels like
- 10:23Speaker 2: movie studios have learned from the Ugly Sonic disaster. Yeah,
- 10:30Speaker 2: so so yeah, they're just like, oh, they just want
- 10:33Speaker 2: to see the character, right right. I kind of wish
- 10:38Speaker 2: they would have gone this route with the Lion King stuff.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, more realistic looking cartoons, you know, right, But
- 10:47Speaker 2: that's okay whatever.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Yeah, because that gets into the is it live action? Yes?
- 10:53Speaker 2: No, right, it's not They don't have real they don't
- 10:57Speaker 2: have real lions running around, you know, right.
- 11:00Speaker 1: But well, in the case of Leland and Stitch, I
- 11:02Speaker 1: would imagine that, you know, Stitch is going to be
- 11:04Speaker 1: CGI and Lelo is going to be live action.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sure they'll get some kid.
- 11:08Speaker 1: You know, that's gonna I think that's gonna be an
- 11:10Speaker 1: expensive movie to film because the're probably gonna have to
- 11:12Speaker 1: film it in Hawaii, and I think that's gonna be
- 11:15Speaker 1: a big budget.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Well, originally it was gonna be a Disney Plus movie,
- 11:21Speaker 2: just straight to Disney Plus. Oh okay, yeah, but I
- 11:25Speaker 2: guess for whatever reason, they figured out, oh well, maybe
- 11:28Speaker 2: people actually will pay to see this.
- 11:30Speaker 1: So, you know, it's funny you asked me if I
- 11:33Speaker 1: if I had any other news stories. This was something
- 11:35Speaker 1: I was gonna discuss with you kind of offline, but
- 11:37Speaker 1: then I thought, well, maybe I can, you know, kind
- 11:39Speaker 1: of get the pulse of the of the Treck cast fans.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Not news stories, but I've come across I think you'd
- 11:48Speaker 1: call them human interest stories, like little little stories about,
- 11:55Speaker 1: you know, a guy builds a dentist office that looks
- 11:59Speaker 1: like the inside a voyager kind of story. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 12:03Speaker 1: things like that, and I've come across several of those
- 12:05Speaker 1: that I'm sort of curating, and I was thinking if
- 12:08Speaker 1: the audience, you know, if our fans would wouldn't mind
- 12:11Speaker 1: maybe once a month or every other episode or every
- 12:14Speaker 1: other episode of Trek cast, I could read a sort
- 12:16Speaker 1: of a human interest story about Star Trek.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it might even be fun to bring some of
- 12:20Speaker 2: those people on and just talk to them about, you know,
- 12:22Speaker 2: the love of Star Trek.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Okay, I'll I'll do the research and see if I
- 12:26Speaker 1: can get contact information for I've got about I don't
- 12:29Speaker 1: know two or three stories that I came across on
- 12:33Speaker 1: on the internet and just look like they're not news stories,
- 12:36Speaker 1: they're not current event stories, but they're just you know,
- 12:38Speaker 1: kind of fun, heartwarming kind of thing.
- 12:40Speaker 2: So, yeah, that's cool that it'd be great. Darryl is
- 12:44Speaker 2: saying that actors can be jerks too. He's met one
- 12:47Speaker 2: particular nine Star Trek actor who had a reputation for
- 12:50Speaker 2: it at cons. People are people, right, you can catch
- 12:55Speaker 2: them on a bad day, you can. Yeah, that's life, man,
- 13:01Speaker 2: that's true. That's life. So oh look at that Michigan
- 13:06Speaker 2: huh oh yeah.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Go Blue Okay, big Michigan fan in this household.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Nice.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Nice.
- 13:14Speaker 2: The The other thing that I saw that I thought
- 13:16Speaker 2: was kind of interesting about D twenty three was the
- 13:21Speaker 2: Skeleton Crew trailer. Did you see this? No?
- 13:25Speaker 1: I did.
- 13:26Speaker 2: It's the next or one of the next Star Wars shows,
- 13:30Speaker 2: but a lot of people are saying it was gonna
- 13:32Speaker 2: be Star Trek or Star Wars Strange or Stranger Things
- 13:36Speaker 2: Star Wars basically because it's focusing on kids and Jude
- 13:39Speaker 2: Law oh yeah, yeah yeah. I don't know what the
- 13:43Speaker 2: storyline is. I guess the kids find like a like
- 13:46Speaker 2: a Jedi temple and go from there. To me, it
- 13:50Speaker 2: had some definitely some gooney vibes.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I'm just gonna say, goony, yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, that
- 13:56Speaker 1: sounds interesting.
- 13:59Speaker 2: I don't think I'm the target demo for this, but
- 14:02Speaker 2: I could see like parents with kids who want to
- 14:05Speaker 2: like have a show to watch together. I think that's
- 14:07Speaker 2: who they're after, which is great. You know that, that's fantastic.
- 14:12Speaker 2: So no, yep, I think that looks promising. So all right,
- 14:17Speaker 2: well let's get to our main topic.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Fine, will now comment?
- 14:28Speaker 2: All right, so we are reviewing nice. Maybe don't hurt me,
- 14:37Speaker 2: don't hurt me?
- 14:37Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 14:38Speaker 2: Yeah, nice? So we we are reviewing Star Trek Prodigy
- 14:44Speaker 2: season two episodes three and four. They are Who Saves
- 14:48Speaker 2: the Saviors and Temporal Mechanics one oh one. These are
- 14:52Speaker 2: out on Netflix right now, at least in America. I
- 14:57Speaker 2: don't know all the other streaming services internationally. Sorry, but
- 15:02Speaker 2: the first episode is about when challenges a Cindia in
- 15:09Speaker 2: a duel. Meanwhile, the crew are captured by the Diviner's
- 15:15Speaker 2: men and have to find themselves in a holding cell
- 15:20Speaker 2: with Captain Chacote and his first officer, the Birdman.
- 15:26Speaker 1: The Birdman.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Yeah, so I do have an image of the Birdman
- 15:31Speaker 2: because I did have a question about this. So then
- 15:34Speaker 2: we got Chacote, we got the Birdman, you know, birdman
- 15:37Speaker 2: looking looking like he is, right. I think that they
- 15:40Speaker 2: had an opportunity here that they did not take. Instead
- 15:44Speaker 2: of having the Birdman, they should have got actual birdman,
- 15:48Speaker 2: the rapper, and I think that would have been better.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Uh, yeah, I think I agree. Yeah, I agree for
- 15:59Speaker 1: the kids. Yeah, that's great. We've seen the species before,
- 16:07Speaker 1: we've seen it in lower decks. That's right, didn't he
- 16:11Speaker 1: It wasn't wasn't that specie. Do we know the name
- 16:13Speaker 1: of the species.
- 16:13Speaker 2: I'm not I'm sure we do, and I'm sure people
- 16:17Speaker 2: will hit us up in the chat about it.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Right.
- 16:20Speaker 1: It is the same as the counselor on the critos,
- 16:25Speaker 1: I believe, so, yes, yes, yes, okay, So we got
- 16:30Speaker 1: the same species. So we got a little continued you know,
- 16:32Speaker 1: continuity there. So that's cool.
- 16:36Speaker 2: It's more of the uh the big bird elite theory,
- 16:40Speaker 2: you know, trying to get you embrace those birds even
- 16:43Speaker 2: though they're not real.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Even though they're not real, that's right. So do you
- 16:47Speaker 1: think that h in in this universe those birds are
- 16:50Speaker 1: actually uh androids?
- 16:53Speaker 2: That's a good question. Yeah, infiltration.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah, they're like borg.
- 17:02Speaker 2: All the bad guys, all the bad all the bad
- 17:04Speaker 2: guys birds because they say birds of a feather, right,
- 17:08Speaker 2: they flock together.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go, there you go.
- 17:13Speaker 2: If it was birdman, though, that wouldn't be the issue.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 17:22Speaker 2: So Jesus, maybe the birds are aliens.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Yeah maybe could very well be good words, very well be.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Animus.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Yep. So in this episode, so we've got uh trying
- 17:39Speaker 1: to get all the names right, We've got.
- 17:43Speaker 2: All the character names we have, like.
- 17:46Speaker 1: When okay, we got Gwen uh has a duel with Asensia, right,
- 17:53Speaker 1: now is voiced by Jamila Jamil. She I recognize her
- 17:59Speaker 1: from the good place.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Oh okay.
- 18:04Speaker 1: And so there's a duel there and they're the ones
- 18:07Speaker 1: that can do their species or whatever. Are the ones
- 18:09Speaker 1: that can like shape shift weapons and tools and stuff.
- 18:12Speaker 1: They've got this weird thing where they can They've got
- 18:16Speaker 1: this material that's programmable, their own programmable matter.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Yeah, just like in the internals.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Yep, yep, there you go. Yeah, and so they they
- 18:26Speaker 1: have a duel, but there's a something's going on with
- 18:31Speaker 1: with Gwen and it was a little confusing, and I
- 18:36Speaker 1: was sort of waiting to get on this episode so
- 18:38Speaker 1: you could sort of hold my hand and walk me
- 18:41Speaker 1: through it.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Yeah. So she was like phasing it out a time
- 18:46Speaker 2: because they messed up the timeline because the Proto store
- 18:50Speaker 2: got taken away and Jakota didn't get onto it right.
- 18:55Speaker 2: So because of that, it's the whole back to the
- 18:58Speaker 2: future issue. The the picture is fading away, so Gwen
- 19:02Speaker 2: is fading away because she no longer exists because that
- 19:04Speaker 2: didn't happen.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Right, because I thought I learned in endgame that it
- 19:10Speaker 1: doesn't work like that, you know, so you know who's right,
- 19:14Speaker 1: you know, it's it's it's like the egg people. First
- 19:18Speaker 1: eggs are good for you, then eggs are bad for you,
- 19:20Speaker 1: but they're not. Only the whites are good. Then the
- 19:22Speaker 1: white and the yoak is good. So I need I
- 19:24Speaker 1: need all those truthers out there to do a deep
- 19:26Speaker 1: dive and tell me what version of time travel rules
- 19:28Speaker 1: are actually accurate.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Yeah, that that is That is a good point. I
- 19:34Speaker 2: have seen some videos with doctor Neil Degrastison but time travel,
- 19:40Speaker 2: and he has talked about like we know how to
- 19:44Speaker 2: go forward in time, we don't know how to go backwards.
- 19:47Speaker 2: That's that's why we have not had time travel.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Yet, right. So yeah, I was just listening to an
- 19:52Speaker 1: episode of Star Talk in which they were talking about
- 19:55Speaker 1: time travel and what's sort of possible and what sort
- 19:59Speaker 1: of impossible, what sort of probable, And they were talking about,
- 20:03Speaker 1: you know, Einstein's theory about time dilation, how you can
- 20:05Speaker 1: travel forward in time if the closer to the speed
- 20:08Speaker 1: light you get, the slower time moves for you versus
- 20:11Speaker 1: the relative observer. So if you were to go out,
- 20:13Speaker 1: say one hundred light years, and come back, you would
- 20:16Speaker 1: be about you would have aged a little bit while
- 20:20Speaker 1: the place that you left and came back to would
- 20:23Speaker 1: have aged a lot. Therefore, you would have traveled forward
- 20:26Speaker 1: in time. So you can travel forward in time, but
- 20:30Speaker 1: you also cannot observe the future. The opposite is true
- 20:34Speaker 1: about the past. You can observe the past. We do
- 20:37Speaker 1: it all the time. When we look up at the stars,
- 20:39Speaker 1: we're not seeing the stars as they are today. We're
- 20:41Speaker 1: seeing the stars as they are, however far away they
- 20:44Speaker 1: are in light years. Okay, so you can observe the past,
- 20:48Speaker 1: but you can't travel to the past.
- 20:50Speaker 2: People are still stuck on Birdman.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Sorry, let me get back to the heavy hitting stuff.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Yeah, people want to talk about the hip hop. No, no, no,
- 21:06Speaker 2: about the time travel. Yeah, Scott's like Birdman after the show,
- 21:12Speaker 2: right exactly who is this guy? Uh yeah, but uh
- 21:21Speaker 2: yeah that's a little bit new listener, Rose, nice, thanks
- 21:24Speaker 2: for joining us.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Rose, absolutely welcome.
- 21:29Speaker 2: But boy, yeah, we don't know time travel. So yes,
- 21:36Speaker 2: it's all theories and conjecture right now, but yeah it
- 21:39Speaker 2: can basically, that's right. So basically Gwenn is facing in
- 21:43Speaker 2: and out like a like the picture and back to
- 21:46Speaker 2: the future. So that's so that's uh, who saves the saviors?
- 21:51Speaker 2: But then we got temporal Mechanics one oh one, which
- 21:54Speaker 2: was basically our exposition episode to set up what feels
- 21:59Speaker 2: like the rest of the series where we are now
- 22:04Speaker 2: stuck in an alternate timeline. We have to travel back
- 22:08Speaker 2: in time to fix things. We literally get a YouTube
- 22:12Speaker 2: video of how how space time travel works in this series.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Okay, I have a question. Yeah, who in the hell
- 22:22Speaker 1: and Starfleet produced this video?
- 22:24Speaker 4: Right?
- 22:24Speaker 1: For whom?
- 22:28Speaker 3: I mean?
- 22:28Speaker 1: This honestly reminded me of something that you would get.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Do you remember in Rascals from the Next Generation the
- 22:37Speaker 1: kids were in the classroom and they were accessing the
- 22:40Speaker 1: kids computer. Yes, and there was a difference between the
- 22:43Speaker 1: kids computer and like the normal adult computer. I feel
- 22:47Speaker 1: like it was made for that.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Right Yeah.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, So the crew of of you know, the
- 22:55Speaker 1: kid crew of Voyager two is right exactly.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Yeah, Hello Treck Cask, good morning to you. We're good
- 23:06Speaker 2: afternoon from the UK.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Oh cool, Well hi there, Yeah, we've got international listeners.
- 23:15Speaker 1: We're big time now.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Big time baby. So yeah, so they they basically their
- 23:23Speaker 2: ship is broken too and they have to repair it.
- 23:26Speaker 2: There's these like little like robots that come and attack
- 23:29Speaker 2: them at some point.
- 23:30Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know, I didn't interrupt to you.
- 23:34Speaker 1: But I've got a thought. I've got some thoughts. Did
- 23:36Speaker 1: you notice my user name today?
- 23:39Speaker 2: Yeah? I was wondering about that.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Yeah, the the ship and the what attacked them. What
- 23:46Speaker 1: what's the name of the ship, the little time ship.
- 23:48Speaker 1: It's it's called something. Does anybody in the chat know
- 23:51Speaker 1: it's it's like the whatever. Anyways, I'm gonna call the
- 23:55Speaker 1: the Neverknezer because these ships and the things that attack
- 23:59Speaker 1: them look exactly like the things from the Matrix. They
- 24:03Speaker 1: look like the hover like even the little hover like
- 24:06Speaker 1: the little things that extend from the the Time ship
- 24:09Speaker 1: to help it do its timey stuff look like the
- 24:13Speaker 1: hover things from the the hover ships in the Matrix.
- 24:16Speaker 1: And then the the things that attacked them were attacking
- 24:20Speaker 1: them in the exact same manner, you know, latching on
- 24:23Speaker 1: and then using their tails to like, you know, carve
- 24:27Speaker 1: them up, just exactly like they did in the in
- 24:29Speaker 1: the Matrix.
- 24:30Speaker 2: I I bet, I mean, I bet that was a
- 24:32Speaker 2: conversation like I'm.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Sure it's a callback, yeah, or not a callback, but
- 24:36Speaker 1: like a little homage. Yeah, But to me, it was
- 24:41Speaker 1: a little distracting because that's all I could think about.
- 24:45Speaker 2: You want amorpheus to show up. What if I told
- 24:47Speaker 2: you before?
- 24:48Speaker 3: Right?
- 24:49Speaker 1: Well, another thing that too was giving me a headache
- 24:51Speaker 1: was they were talking about they were talking about the
- 24:53Speaker 1: time travel stuff, and I'm like, I, you know, I
- 24:56Speaker 1: could not get it through my thick, mentally challenged mind
- 25:02Speaker 1: about what was affecting what and how it would affect
- 25:05Speaker 1: who and why there was this delay and some of
- 25:08Speaker 1: it seemed to be like based on previous trek, but
- 25:12Speaker 1: some of it seemed to be based on back to
- 25:15Speaker 1: the future. And I was like, I was, you know,
- 25:17Speaker 1: I'm looking at my my my thirteen year old, and
- 25:20Speaker 1: he's like, I get it. I totally understandable. I'm like
- 25:24Speaker 1: I'm asking I'm asking him. I'm like, well, wait a minute,
- 25:27Speaker 1: how come if they went back but she's still there,
- 25:30Speaker 1: but if she's facing and then I'm like, oh, look
- 25:31Speaker 1: I've gone cross side.
- 25:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:35Speaker 2: I think you have to remember this is a show
- 25:37Speaker 2: for the kids. Just let it go.
- 25:41Speaker 1: I can't. This is this is Cannon.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, I know it is.
- 25:45Speaker 1: It is is Cannon.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Yeah. We did see that. Murph was like basically playing
- 25:51Speaker 2: video games. Well everyone else is just freaking out, And
- 25:55Speaker 2: there was a tease at the end, he's talking to
- 25:58Speaker 2: some sort of being. It looks like the same person
- 26:02Speaker 2: that that one guy and Enterprise would talk to. Yes, yeah,
- 26:06Speaker 2: I really think that's a callback to that. I don't
- 26:10Speaker 2: think it's the same guy.
- 26:11Speaker 1: But no, but who else did? We had a theory
- 26:13Speaker 1: that that was also somebody else from a show we
- 26:16Speaker 1: just watched, Trek show we just watched, didn't we.
- 26:20Speaker 2: I know that the the the producers have said the
- 26:24Speaker 2: ultimate goal was there. They were going to make that
- 26:26Speaker 2: character Archer, like an older Archer, Captain Archer.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Okay, okay, yeah. Wasn't the other theory that it could
- 26:35Speaker 1: be uh, the guy that wore the glasses on Discovery?
- 26:39Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that was a theory, Okay, Okay. Wouldn't it
- 26:44Speaker 1: be cool? Yeah? I Well, wouldn't it be cool if
- 26:49Speaker 1: at the end of the season we got they got
- 26:51Speaker 1: Scott Vaculate and he's the one that's talking to Murph.
- 26:55Speaker 2: I mean, this thing's been out for a while, so
- 26:57Speaker 2: some people know the answer.
- 26:58Speaker 1: But that's true. Yeah, don't spoil it for us.
- 27:02Speaker 2: That's right, that's right. We don't know. We've only watched
- 27:05Speaker 2: the four episodes total because when they dropped it, did
- 27:09Speaker 2: they drop all episodes at the same time. Yeah, there's
- 27:11Speaker 2: like twenty something episodes just on there, which, honestly, after
- 27:16Speaker 2: watching four of them, it's not that bad.
- 27:19Speaker 1: No, I don't.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's fine.
- 27:21Speaker 1: You know, it's overall is geared for kids, and I'll
- 27:24Speaker 1: have to be honest, really, the only reason I'm watching
- 27:26Speaker 1: it is because of you know, Jane way Jacote mentions
- 27:30Speaker 1: of you know, Star Trek stuff. If this was based
- 27:35Speaker 1: on another franchise, I probably would not be watching it.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Yeah, the stuff I've seen online. It doesn't like people
- 27:45Speaker 2: will say that they try to watch their kids, the
- 27:47Speaker 2: kids aren't interested, but they liked it, so they keep
- 27:50Speaker 2: watching it.
- 27:51Speaker 1: See my thirteen year old likes it.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Oh okay, okay, yeah, okay, so you're gonna keep watching it.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Then you think, yeah, I'm gonna keep watching it, okay.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Right on. Yeah, so I guess clearly you like the episodes,
- 28:06Speaker 2: or at least enough to watch.
- 28:07Speaker 1: The Yeah, I'm enjoying them. You know, they're a little
- 28:12Speaker 1: they're a little kiddish, that's you know. But I'm not
- 28:15Speaker 1: gonna not I'm not gonna get dock points from it
- 28:19Speaker 1: for that, because that's what it's supposed to be doing.
- 28:22Speaker 1: You know, it'd be like I don't like horror films,
- 28:25Speaker 1: which that doesn't mean I'm gonna say a horror film
- 28:27Speaker 1: sucks because I don't like horror films, right, you know,
- 28:31Speaker 1: so I'll try to I'll try to judge it based
- 28:33Speaker 1: on what it's trying to do.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't like country music, but that doesn't mean
- 28:37Speaker 2: it's awful. It's not my style, right Yeah.
- 28:42Speaker 1: So I mean you can blame it all on my roots.
- 28:45Speaker 1: You know, I showed up in boots and ruined your
- 28:49Speaker 1: black tie affair.
- 28:51Speaker 2: What you're gonna break my heart my achy breaking art.
- 28:57Speaker 1: That's right. Just remember I've got friends in low places, Daniel.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Okay, that one. I know that. I know that.
- 29:06Speaker 1: That was what I was quoting from the from the Okay, Yeah,
- 29:11Speaker 1: malaming all.
- 29:12Speaker 2: On my roots.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I showed up in boots. Okay, that's it. Dan's out here,
- 29:18Speaker 1: that's Dan's job.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yeah, he's gonna get back to you. Well, why don't
- 29:27Speaker 2: we uh, why don't we get to listener feedback? Then
- 29:30Speaker 2: it sounds like we're at that point, so okay, listener feedback.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Yeah, once Scott starts singing, that's right to move on.
- 29:47Speaker 2: They're all saying that agent Daniel's uh from Enterprise was
- 29:50Speaker 2: the old guying disco. Yeah, that's right, they did that.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm looking to see if I have any I
- 29:57Speaker 1: checked yesterday, if I had any mail. I don't think
- 30:00Speaker 1: I've got any mail remembers. You can email us at
- 30:05Speaker 1: trek cast TG at gmail dot com. Yeah, and you
- 30:10Speaker 1: can also email email me at Strongbeard one seven o
- 30:14Speaker 1: one at gmail dot com. And you can also leave
- 30:17Speaker 1: us a voicemail five seven zero six six one zero
- 30:22Speaker 1: zero zero one.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Leave us a message, as Dan says, sector zero zero
- 30:27Speaker 2: zero one.
- 30:28Speaker 1: But that's right.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Well, we got Jazzmas on the line. He's right there.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Let's bring him in. What's going on?
- 30:34Speaker 3: Jazziz trying to wake up?
- 30:37Speaker 2: Is it too early for you?
- 30:39Speaker 3: Yeah, it's early.
- 30:40Speaker 1: What part of the country are you in? I mean,
- 30:42Speaker 1: you don't have to give me your you know, ad
- 30:44Speaker 1: I'm in Oklahoma, so Oklahoma Chicago time.
- 30:49Speaker 3: So that's right.
- 30:50Speaker 2: You like country us in Oklahoma? Right?
- 30:52Speaker 1: Well?
- 30:53Speaker 3: Garth Brooks from Oklahoma, so oh okay? Oh, but do
- 30:57Speaker 3: I like country music?
- 30:58Speaker 4: No?
- 31:00Speaker 1: Nice, I like nineties country music. I had I had
- 31:05Speaker 1: an old eighty four Chevy Scottsdale that the radio was broken.
- 31:09Speaker 1: It was stuck on our local country station for about
- 31:11Speaker 1: a year.
- 31:12Speaker 3: So oh yeah, I tried that. I just kidn't you know.
- 31:17Speaker 3: I was, you know, delivery guy back in the day,
- 31:20Speaker 3: and that was like the last station I could go to,
- 31:24Speaker 3: like if I wanted to listen to music, and that's.
- 31:27Speaker 2: What, what's your favorite bird band song?
- 31:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest. I'm gonna be honest. I have
- 31:34Speaker 1: I have never heard of birdman.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Yeah, you got me on that one. Okay, Okay, so
- 31:43Speaker 3: birds aren't real and you got a birdman? That's right, right,
- 31:47Speaker 3: that's half cyborg.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Well I think the character on on on the show
- 31:55Speaker 1: is part part borg and part synth. Okay, which was
- 32:00Speaker 1: with some romulant telshi are programming. There you go, there
- 32:03Speaker 1: you go.
- 32:04Speaker 3: So did the chicken come before the egg?
- 32:09Speaker 2: He arrived in a giant egg like Mork from working.
- 32:14Speaker 3: You got on that one.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Yeah, we're gonna stump him.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I'll ask him. You know. Neil de grass Tyson has
- 32:22Speaker 1: coming to Miller Auditorium in Kalamazoo next year.
- 32:26Speaker 2: So three years ago, Yeah, if the quest interviewing.
- 32:31Speaker 1: If the tickets weren't one hundred and thirty dollars for
- 32:34Speaker 1: the cheap sheets, cheap, cheap seats.
- 32:37Speaker 3: It's not cheap. It's probably at auditorium, isn't it?
- 32:41Speaker 2: So you might be able to get press passes. Scott
- 32:45Speaker 2: from there you.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Go that baby, I will. I'm still waiting to hear
- 32:55Speaker 1: back from uh Chicago. But birds are real?
- 33:02Speaker 3: Just be dead serious.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Yeah, see what.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Got him in the eye.
- 33:09Speaker 2: He's not gonna like that question.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Like like our bird's real. He's gonna you're from trek.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Who the hell are you get off? Get off my lawn?
- 33:19Speaker 2: Right? Yeah?
- 33:21Speaker 3: Well it's like did you hear the Joe Rogan episode
- 33:24Speaker 3: with Terrence Howard on there?
- 33:26Speaker 2: Oh?
- 33:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, listen to the Terrence Howard the first one,
- 33:34Speaker 3: then listen to the second one, because actually had somebody
- 33:36Speaker 3: that was kind of yea.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Terrence has some interesting opinions on math and science.
- 33:43Speaker 1: I can't stand Terrence Howard. He is the poor man's
- 33:46Speaker 1: uh don cheetle. I was so glad when he was
- 33:49Speaker 1: replaced in Iron Man two. Other than that, I have
- 33:52Speaker 1: no feelings at all about Have.
- 33:53Speaker 2: You seen the meme that, now that they've gotten rid
- 33:55Speaker 2: of Jonathan Major's is King, that they should go against Terrence.
- 33:59Speaker 5: K Yeah, the amazing Yeah, because I'd watch it probably,
- 34:09Speaker 5: I mean, just bring him back, friend.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Yeah, there are a lot of them.
- 34:17Speaker 3: I watched one and a half last night. I stayed
- 34:20Speaker 3: up and then I was like, Okay, I gotta go
- 34:23Speaker 3: to bed now. So it was nice. I think that
- 34:29Speaker 3: they really made him skinny, you know. I was like, man, yeah, he's.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Like fafinitely stylized ryans.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a it's a certain style of animation.
- 34:39Speaker 3: It was like, if they could do that to me,
- 34:40Speaker 3: you know, that'd be great.
- 34:42Speaker 1: So yeah, me too. It was nice to see the
- 34:47Speaker 1: doctor too.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it was good to see what he still sounds
- 34:51Speaker 2: the same.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it's kind of nice to bring back old characters,
- 34:56Speaker 3: even though you know you're not going to get a
- 34:59Speaker 3: show with them or another Deep Space nine or you know,
- 35:04Speaker 3: we got Picard, but they're not going that way.
- 35:07Speaker 2: So, you know, I see mock ups all the time
- 35:10Speaker 2: for people who want a Janeway show, Well, the live
- 35:13Speaker 2: action Janeway show, I.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Think, you know the young you know, what's the Picard's son's.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Name, Oh Jack, yeah, Crush.
- 35:23Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, more people want that show than anything.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Else than of course I want Molly the Dog. Molly
- 35:32Speaker 2: the Dogs, Janeway's dog that you mentioned, like one.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. Speaking of dogs, I hear dogs in
- 35:37Speaker 1: the background, and I have one request back. Next time,
- 35:41Speaker 1: I'd like I'd like you to introduce these dogs because
- 35:43Speaker 1: I'm a dog, right, So next time I want you
- 35:45Speaker 1: to bring these dogs in.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Oh, hes gonna bring me now? Is that your treats
- 35:53Speaker 2: are theirs?
- 35:54Speaker 1: That's how my wife gets my attention.
- 35:56Speaker 3: I'm in the kitchen.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Oh look look.
- 35:59Speaker 2: At that Welcome to dog.
- 36:01Speaker 1: What kind of dog is that?
- 36:03Speaker 3: He's a shelty?
- 36:05Speaker 1: Oh look at that so cute.
- 36:07Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a mass what's his name?
- 36:09Speaker 2: Baxter's name?
- 36:11Speaker 1: Baxter. That's cute. Time we've got dogs on. We got
- 36:15Speaker 1: dogs on treck cast.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Is he in a glass case of emotion? Baxter?
- 36:22Speaker 3: Yes?
- 36:23Speaker 2: Yes, Ridge and Jack.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Black Yeah, Oh yeah, I don't. I'm not going to
- 36:29Speaker 3: be throwing a burrito outside of my car. That's where
- 36:37Speaker 3: the name kind of came from.
- 36:38Speaker 2: Was that did I figured that's that's where a dog
- 36:42Speaker 2: named Baxter would come from. Anchorman for sure.
- 36:45Speaker 3: And the other dog, I don't know where she's at.
- 36:47Speaker 3: She's probably sleeping because we we had a you know, thunderstorm,
- 36:52Speaker 3: so kind of turned the power last night. So they've
- 36:55Speaker 3: been parking that lightning.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Yeah, oh there you go. She grew up with.
- 37:04Speaker 3: So yeah, I've had three of them and I have
- 37:06Speaker 3: the other ones. Half Shelty, half mini Aussie.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Oh okay, okay, she's she's psycho.
- 37:14Speaker 3: So well you got two like hurting dogs breedy together
- 37:22Speaker 3: and mm hm she's just totally different.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Yeah. I still got things to say though, Yeah, well yeah,
- 37:32Speaker 2: there you go.
- 37:32Speaker 3: There you need to cheese ball.
- 37:34Speaker 2: So, jess are you going to go watch the rest
- 37:38Speaker 2: of the Prodigy or.
- 37:39Speaker 3: Actually I am not. Actually I liked Prodigy better than
- 37:43Speaker 3: I did the Batman series last week.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Yeah, because me too.
- 37:49Speaker 3: I feel the pacings better. And yeah, you actually get
- 37:54Speaker 3: to see the crew. You get to see like Easter eggs,
- 37:57Speaker 3: which is nice to see.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Have you guys the Batman series night, I got.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Up to four and I was like, this is I
- 38:05Speaker 1: haven't seen another episode since last week?
- 38:09Speaker 2: Yeah, so I finished it because I bang my knee,
- 38:12Speaker 2: so like I'm gonna walk in with a limp right now, okay,
- 38:15Speaker 2: So because I have to ice it, so I'm like,
- 38:18Speaker 2: I'll just watch this while I was it's a show.
- 38:22Speaker 1: It's a show.
- 38:23Speaker 2: It's a show. Me fine, Okay, it's bruised up that's all.
- 38:28Speaker 1: I tweaked my knee last weekend. Oh really, yeah, I've
- 38:32Speaker 1: been walking around with the knee brain. I have no idea,
- 38:34Speaker 1: you know how like when you're younger and you're like
- 38:36Speaker 1: you're laying down it wrong and it kind of twinges
- 38:38Speaker 1: and you just kind of kick it and it's better.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Like twenty minutes later, same exact thing, only it wasn't better.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Twenty minutes later. It's still stiff and weird and sore
- 38:47Speaker 1: and sort of gives out every once in a while. So, yeah,
- 38:51Speaker 1: welcome to my mid forties.
- 38:53Speaker 2: See, I wasn't I was walking into work, I wasn't
- 38:55Speaker 2: paying attention and I tripped on the curb and smack
- 38:59Speaker 2: my knee right against the concrete.
- 39:02Speaker 1: And tell everybody in the audience what your first four
- 39:06Speaker 1: words were or yeah a lot of bad words?
- 39:14Speaker 3: Were they in English or Spanish?
- 39:19Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 39:20Speaker 1: Both?
- 39:21Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah, so so because I've been just icing it,
- 39:25Speaker 2: I I watched the rest of Batman. It's it's got
- 39:31Speaker 2: an interesting arc for for Harvey Dent. I don't think
- 39:35Speaker 2: I ever once heard him called two face, even though
- 39:38Speaker 2: he is you know, yeah, they just call him Dent.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Well, he hasn't had it. He hasn't had his accident yet, so.
- 39:47Speaker 2: He does eventually.
- 39:48Speaker 3: Okay, okay him d afterwards.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Yeah, they still call him Dent after that.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Now in the comics, do they call him two face
- 39:55Speaker 1: before the accident because of like how I don't know
- 39:58Speaker 1: what was he?
- 39:59Speaker 2: Yeah? Uh, well, well the Nolan movies introduced the fact
- 40:02Speaker 2: that they called him two fase behind his back right
- 40:05Speaker 2: right he would get cops. So but there there is
- 40:12Speaker 2: a teaser at the end of the series for the
- 40:16Speaker 2: next season. They're they're definitely teasing some more villains. But overall,
- 40:23Speaker 2: I thought it was fine. I think some of the
- 40:27Speaker 2: better episodes are on the back end of that series. Yeah,
- 40:31Speaker 2: so that's cool. I guess.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Last week on the Go Ahead, oh I was.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Gonna say, I guess, Bruce Tim said that some of
- 40:40Speaker 2: these scripts were old Batman, the animated series scripts that
- 40:44Speaker 2: they basically repurposed for this, episodes that were considered too
- 40:48Speaker 2: dark kids in the nineties.
- 40:50Speaker 1: So, okay, I saw on our Facebook group, Tim said
- 40:57Speaker 1: about the New Batman because I had uh pretty much
- 41:00Speaker 1: crapped on the new Alfred, I said, Alfin was done dirty,
- 41:04Speaker 1: he said about the New Batman series. Alfred was not
- 41:07Speaker 1: done dirty. He was done classic and he posts he
- 41:10Speaker 1: posts a link to a history of Batman facebook page
- 41:14Speaker 1: and the the Batman from the comic books, from the
- 41:18Speaker 1: early comic books does bear a resemblance to what they
- 41:21Speaker 1: were going for ye in this new series. My counterpoint
- 41:25Speaker 1: to that is I still think it's the bad iteration
- 41:29Speaker 1: of it.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 41:31Speaker 1: So yes, they I didn't realize that Alfred from way
- 41:34Speaker 1: back in the day was looked like like, I don't know,
- 41:37Speaker 1: kind of penguiny that that's there it is. Yeah, yeah,
- 41:42Speaker 1: So because in later in later iterations like in in
- 41:46Speaker 1: the show Gotham and in other you know, newer live action,
- 41:52Speaker 1: they sort of show him as more of a badass,
- 41:55Speaker 1: is more of a trainer. They show him, you know
- 41:57Speaker 1: as like you know, uh, special forces and you know,
- 42:01Speaker 1: stuff like that. So and that's that kind of makes
- 42:03Speaker 1: more sense to me. In the in the in the
- 42:05Speaker 1: storyline of Batman that his butler wasn't really a butler.
- 42:09Speaker 1: He was. He was he was hired as a butler.
- 42:11Speaker 1: But because of his background.
- 42:13Speaker 2: And in the games they make him English too, so
- 42:16Speaker 2: he has an accent. Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 42:20Speaker 3: The Keaton Batman like he's just an old guy on there. Yeah,
- 42:25Speaker 3: he has any skills or anything.
- 42:27Speaker 1: He just knows he does seem to have. Yeah, but
- 42:30Speaker 1: in the other in the in the sort of Burton verse,
- 42:33Speaker 1: he does have. He's he's mentioned as a mechanic. He can,
- 42:38Speaker 1: he can. He looks like he's pretty good with a computer. Yeah,
- 42:43Speaker 1: he's good at you know, getting information that kind of thing.
- 42:45Speaker 1: He and he's he's old the guy that played him
- 42:47Speaker 1: as old, So he's probably not going to be like
- 42:51Speaker 1: spy or something, right, But in like, you know, God,
- 42:55Speaker 1: I like the way they portrayed him in Gotham. You know,
- 42:57Speaker 1: he was like former S S or s not s
- 43:02Speaker 1: s whatever the English, British, Yeah about whatever, the British.
- 43:10Speaker 1: I'm going to get so much hate mail whatever. The
- 43:12Speaker 1: British Special Forces are. No, no, no, Alfred oh Alfred.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, that's right.
- 43:23Speaker 1: I think we've been talking about both of them in
- 43:25Speaker 1: this conversation.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't remember Special Wars.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Well. Then somebody says, you know, in one iteration he
- 43:33Speaker 1: was English, and I'm like, he has all of them
- 43:36Speaker 1: s as. Okay, Yeah, I'm like I was about to
- 43:40Speaker 1: correct you and say, I think he's always been English.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Oh no, you're talking about the Penguin, I'm talking about okay,
- 43:46Speaker 1: s A S. I was off by one letter in
- 43:48Speaker 1: my defense.
- 43:50Speaker 3: There's the SF and then there's Protean.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Yeah maybe sure, why not he's L Penguin or.
- 43:59Speaker 1: L Alfred he's my sex Maybe yeah, But doesn't that
- 44:02Speaker 1: make sense that that, uh, Tom and Martha Wayne would
- 44:06Speaker 1: have hired, you know, a cold war badass kind of
- 44:11Speaker 1: guy to watch over their kid.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Yeah, there's there's you know, because they constantly reboot the
- 44:16Speaker 2: comics and change things around, there is one where it
- 44:21Speaker 2: ends up Alfred is really Bruce's dad, and that the
- 44:25Speaker 2: whole reason the Waynes got killed was Thomas Wayne was
- 44:29Speaker 2: mad that his wife had an affair and so he
- 44:32Speaker 2: wanted to kill her and kill Bruce, and the hit
- 44:36Speaker 2: man got it wrong and didn't want to kill the kid,
- 44:38Speaker 2: so he killed both parents and uh.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Yeah, wow, how do you turn like one of the
- 44:43Speaker 1: darkest superhero storylines even darker? Right?
- 44:48Speaker 2: Yeah? And so he's at his dad there the entire
- 44:51Speaker 2: time and didn't know, and then Alfred's.
- 44:52Speaker 3: Like feeling guilty the whole time, like maybe yeah, thanked
- 44:55Speaker 3: his mom.
- 44:56Speaker 1: No.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Basically, they both find out at the same time that
- 44:59Speaker 2: he will is his dad the entire time. Maury Povik
- 45:02Speaker 2: shows up and.
- 45:03Speaker 3: Has the envelopternity test and everything se him jumping up
- 45:09Speaker 3: and down and like, oh wow, I got it. Parents
- 45:12Speaker 3: killed his own.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Alfred realizes he's just super rich now, all this money.
- 45:21Speaker 3: It's like, why am I word a butler outfit?
- 45:23Speaker 2: That's right, that's right, that's to this, sir irons.
- 45:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:29Speaker 3: Yeah, the boy mansion in there, no kidding, you got
- 45:35Speaker 3: two bachelors with all that money.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, of course.
- 45:41Speaker 3: The cave we're making a swimming pool with a grotto.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Heck yeah, we're gonna turn this to the Babe Cave.
- 45:54Speaker 2: I like the idea of party Alfred.
- 45:59Speaker 3: He's just like you, half ner, and he's got his
- 46:02Speaker 3: mouth and.
- 46:02Speaker 1: The party Alfred in the house tonight.
- 46:10Speaker 3: John is all day.
- 46:12Speaker 2: Yeah, oh man, well anything else?
- 46:19Speaker 3: I like our version of the Alfred better.
- 46:21Speaker 1: So we need to pitch that idea.
- 46:25Speaker 2: Yeah, last week we.
- 46:26Speaker 3: Had Frostbite and then you had the Mama Bear.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's right, that's what you got, Daniel.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Can you get James Gun on the line. We can
- 46:35Speaker 1: start pitching the ideas.
- 46:37Speaker 2: I'll see him at the next meeting. I'll talk okay, okay, yeah, jee.
- 46:43Speaker 3: Anybody seen Borderlands yet? No? I have not, Okay me either.
- 46:48Speaker 3: I've seen the reviews and they like when I see three,
- 46:53Speaker 3: was that a three on Rotten Tomatoes? Yeah? Three?
- 46:58Speaker 1: Wow, that's almost watch him.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, it's almost worth Like if they did
- 47:03Speaker 3: a riff tracks on it with the movie going, that'd
- 47:08Speaker 3: be great.
- 47:10Speaker 2: Because I'm getting back into screenwriting. I kind of want
- 47:13Speaker 2: to go see it because as much as they say
- 47:16Speaker 2: go watch good movies to kind of learn what to do,
- 47:19Speaker 2: it's just as important to watch bad movies to learn
- 47:21Speaker 2: what not to do.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Absolutely well.
- 47:23Speaker 3: I think that's why James s Gun's done so well
- 47:26Speaker 3: because he did all the Trauma films.
- 47:28Speaker 2: He learned a lot from Trauma.
- 47:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, and all those lives because he knew like
- 47:34Speaker 3: how to be schlocky but not too awful, and I
- 47:40Speaker 3: don't know it just he got better with it.
- 47:42Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 47:45Speaker 3: Right now, like this new Superman series, it looks cool.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't wait. I'm excited.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Like a lot of people are talking crap about the
- 47:54Speaker 3: Superman now. I I almost think it's gonna change.
- 47:57Speaker 2: So oh yeah, I think it will, absolutely will.
- 48:00Speaker 3: And I want to see it first I think I
- 48:04Speaker 3: trust Yeah, I'm I'm very much looking for I'm a
- 48:07Speaker 3: big Superman fan.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Dan's a big Superman fan too, So I'm looking forward.
- 48:13Speaker 3: To Superhero growing. Yeah, like when we were little, that
- 48:18Speaker 3: was our first superhero maybe when you think about it,
- 48:20Speaker 3: because until Batman eighty nine, that was like your second
- 48:24Speaker 3: major superhero movie, and then you went from there to.
- 48:28Speaker 1: The Superman came out a decade earlier.
- 48:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:32Speaker 1: So also Superman and Lois Is the final season is
- 48:35Speaker 1: coming out. I can't wait, looking very much, looking forward
- 48:39Speaker 1: to that very much. They They ended the last season
- 48:42Speaker 1: with a with doomsday and and and the big epic fight,
- 48:47Speaker 1: so they're gonna yeah, all right.
- 48:51Speaker 3: Series yet so.
- 48:53Speaker 2: I think we're winding down. It feels like yep.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Also, just keep in mind everybody, there's gonna be the
- 48:59Speaker 1: Chicago Star Trek convention coming up in the end of September.
- 49:04Speaker 1: I think that's going from let me look up the
- 49:07Speaker 1: dates real quick. It's going to be at yeah, the
- 49:13Speaker 1: Chicago It's Star Trek Chicago from September twenty seventh to
- 49:18Speaker 1: the through the twenty ninth. I'm still waiting on a
- 49:23Speaker 1: email letting me know if I'm going to be able
- 49:26Speaker 1: to get press passes or not. So I think whether
- 49:29Speaker 1: or not I go is going to be dependent on that.
- 49:33Speaker 1: So you know, if I'm going to book, I'm actually
- 49:36Speaker 1: booking a hotel today, a refundable hotel right at the
- 49:40Speaker 1: hightt Regency. And there are still rooms available at the
- 49:43Speaker 1: highest regency. And if you go through their website, the
- 49:48Speaker 1: start just Google Start Trek Convention in Chicago. If you

- 49:57Speaker 1: at it here real quick creation entertainment, you can get

- 50:09Speaker 1: get a rate that's slightly less than that. Oh nice,
- 50:14Speaker 1: So definitely definitely check that out. So I will let yeah,
- 50:19Speaker 1: I will let everybody know if if I'm going to
- 50:21Speaker 1: attend the second I get confirmation on whether I get
- 50:24Speaker 1: those press passes, and if I do, and and anybody
- 50:28Speaker 1: else is going to be there, we can have a
- 50:30Speaker 1: little uh meet up.
- 50:32Speaker 2: You're gonna go get one of those beef sandwiches from.
- 50:35Speaker 1: The Bear absolutely absolutely.
- 50:38Speaker 2: An Italian beef Yeah.
- 50:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I love beef sandwiches. I love sandwiches. I love food.
- 50:43Speaker 2: That's true.
