- 0:03Why is it important that third party media
- 0:06have access at events?
- 0:08We're going to talk about that next.
- 0:21I love the chase and the hunt.
- 0:23And I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:24I always take what I want.
- 0:26And I always give it one hundred.
- 0:27Don't need a bank.
- 0:28No, I'm funded.
- 0:29Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:30I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:32Don't take for granted.
- 0:33Stay humble.
- 0:33Now wake up.
- 0:35It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:37Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:39friend to me.
- 0:40It's not working out.
- 0:41Maybe it's the chemistry.
- 0:43It's time to break up so I can
- 0:45make a better me.
- 0:45E-M-M-E.
- 0:50it's lunch time what is going on everybody
- 0:57my mic was turned on for the opening
- 0:58today so hopefully you guys all heard me
- 1:02today
- 1:03I hope so.
- 1:04Yesterday was kind of a cluster and a
- 1:06shit show and all of that stuff.
- 1:08All wrapped into one is at the top,
- 1:10but I think we had a good discussion.
- 1:14So can't wait to break down some stuff
- 1:17with you today.
- 1:19Hope you all are having a great afternoon.
- 1:22It is lunchtime,
- 1:23lunchtime with the Clydesdale.
- 1:25You guys all know that.
- 1:28So this weekend,
- 1:29I watched the Stuart Scott documentary on
- 1:32ESPN.
- 1:34It's titled Booyah.
- 1:37For those of you who may be too
- 1:39young,
- 1:39Stuart Scott was a SportsCenter anchor in
- 1:41the mid-nineties through twenty fifteen
- 1:46ish.
- 1:50his story is really, really incredible.
- 1:53If you've not seen the thirty for thirty
- 1:55documentary done on ESPN,
- 1:57it is well worth the watch.
- 1:59It is amazing what the man had had
- 2:02gone through.
- 2:07There were things that I learned about him
- 2:08that I'd never knew when he and Rich
- 2:12Eisen teamed up.
- 2:14They were my favorite SportsCenter anchors
- 2:17of all time.
- 2:21I know that Dan Patrick and Keith Oberman
- 2:24get a lot of press for saving
- 2:27SportsCenter, being the SportsCenter guys.
- 2:30But for me,
- 2:30Stuart Scott and Rich Eisen were the team
- 2:34that made it worth watching every single
- 2:38night.
- 2:39Um, through the nineties, I,
- 2:42I watched them all the time.
- 2:43My wife was sitting there watching it with
- 2:45me going, oh my gosh,
- 2:47I know them as well as you do
- 2:50because you watch them all the time.
- 2:53And I was forced to watch them all
- 2:54the time.
- 2:56Um,
- 2:58if you don't know Stuart's story,
- 3:00he fought his way onto the air.
- 3:03Um,
- 3:04it was not an easy journey for him
- 3:06because he was very authentic to who he
- 3:09was and that ruffled some people the wrong
- 3:12way.
- 3:13And, um,
- 3:15He used pop culture references that not
- 3:18everybody understood.
- 3:20But there was definitely a segment of the
- 3:23country that totally understood.
- 3:25And he became more and more popular to
- 3:28the point where it became inevitable that
- 3:33they had to let him on the air.
- 3:35And they were rewarded for allowing that
- 3:39and pushing him.
- 3:42He then...
- 3:44Later in his career in the two in
- 3:45the two thousand tens got he got
- 3:50appendicitis cancer.
- 3:52I don't know how else to describe it.
- 3:55It was in the appendix.
- 3:57He it was a routine thing where he
- 4:00just started feeling an upset stomach,
- 4:03went to the hospital.
- 4:04ended up that he had cancer they removed
- 4:08the appendix hoping that that would do it
- 4:11it did not do it he lived about
- 4:14five years with the cancer and then ended
- 4:17up passing away in twenty fifteen so it's
- 4:20been ten years since his passing
- 4:22It's a great documentary to look back.
- 4:24What's cool is he videotaped a lot of
- 4:27his own journey on VHS tapes and the
- 4:30editors of this kind of put it together.
- 4:32So he actually narrates a lot of his
- 4:34own story and how he came up through
- 4:38the business and the impact he had on
- 4:41pop culture, on the athletes,
- 4:45the relationship with the athletes,
- 4:47the inside information he had with the
- 4:50athletes.
- 4:54It's just really, really good.
- 4:56If you have the time,
- 4:56it's less than an hour, maybe like forty,
- 4:59forty five minutes.
- 5:00It's a thirty for thirty on ESPN.
- 5:03Definitely worth checking out.
- 5:07If you're not into sports,
- 5:08it's a great story about a father,
- 5:13a husband,
- 5:14everything that he went through,
- 5:15the fight for cancer,
- 5:17the fight through cancer,
- 5:20what that did to him and how he
- 5:21kept the fight going.
- 5:23And really,
- 5:24the fight was all about just being...
- 5:27Being there for his daughters as long as
- 5:28he could.
- 5:29And if you're a parent,
- 5:31you would understand that completely.
- 5:33It was a big tearjerker watch for me.
- 5:37Again,
- 5:38he was my favorite SportsCenter anchor
- 5:42with Rich Eisen.
- 5:42That team was awesome and definitely,
- 5:45definitely worth a watch.
- 5:47So if you've not seen it, please,
- 5:49please go check that out.
- 5:52It is totally, totally worth it.
- 5:55Train all of Stuart was an icon of
- 5:57ESPN.
- 5:57He truly was.
- 5:58He changed the way they do SportsCenter.
- 6:05And I think we've learned over the past
- 6:08several years,
- 6:09like even in the podcast world,
- 6:11the more authentic you are to who you
- 6:14are, the better you're going to do.
- 6:16The more people are going to listen to
- 6:18what you have to say.
- 6:23If you try to sugarcoat everything and you
- 6:25try to make everything bland and vanilla,
- 6:28you're not going to do as well.
- 6:31It's really funny that I watch this
- 6:35documentary and I look at how the
- 6:37evolution of this podcast is.
- 6:40The more dislikes I get on YouTube,
- 6:43the more viewers I get.
- 6:46That's wild that when you get people to
- 6:52get emotional about your takes,
- 6:56it bleeds into that they're more committed
- 6:59to finding out what you have to say.
- 7:03And they may not like what you have
- 7:04to say.
- 7:05They hit that dislike button.
- 7:07But it's really funny how that correlates
- 7:09with higher viewership,
- 7:11the more dislikes you get.
- 7:12Yeah.
- 7:15and so it it's i love seeing when
- 7:18my shows get a dislike but it means
- 7:20that i have created an emotion in somebody
- 7:23and that they vehemently disagree with me
- 7:26and that's fine everybody's entitled to
- 7:28their opinion everybody is entitled to
- 7:31have the feeling they have when i say
- 7:34something and that's what happened with
- 7:35stuart scott um he would say things people
- 7:38would disagree
- 7:40but it made him more popular in the
- 7:42end because it was something that was
- 7:43authentic and people knew he was going to
- 7:45be genuine to his own beliefs so I
- 7:48thought that was a pretty cool pretty cool
- 7:51correlation and it kind of bleeds into the
- 7:55main topic for today's lunch show and that
- 7:58is I was sitting back last night thinking
- 8:04I think that the third-party media
- 8:06struggles so hard in this space to get
- 8:15the proper respect from events and
- 8:18organizations that are trying to build
- 8:21things in the space.
- 8:24And John George,
- 8:29I gave you a dislike once about a
- 8:30year ago,
- 8:31and I'm still here and love your show.
- 8:33See?
- 8:34See, it's all good.
- 8:36But it's okay.
- 8:37It's okay that we disagree and we have
- 8:38discussions.
- 8:41And that's what I love about this.
- 8:43It's okay that you have a different
- 8:44opinion than I do.
- 8:46It's fine.
- 8:47Let's talk it out.
- 8:48Let's argue it out.
- 8:49Jamie and I disagree all the time.
- 8:52We fight all the time.
- 8:54And that is what's awesome about our
- 8:57friendship is I know that she is not
- 9:01going to sugarcoat things to me.
- 9:03I know that she's going to be honest
- 9:05with me.
- 9:06And we can have those discussions and
- 9:07those arguments,
- 9:09and we're still great friends after it's
- 9:11all over.
- 9:14And so what I want to point out
- 9:18about this third-party media thing and
- 9:19events is I'm going to give you guys
- 9:23an example.
- 9:25During the CrossFit Games last year,
- 9:28Stevon Matosian had a very harsh take
- 9:32about too many machines leaking themselves
- 9:35into the CrossFit space.
- 9:37He talked about it a lot on his
- 9:39show.
- 9:41And since he did that,
- 9:43since he gave that opinion,
- 9:45that topic has appeared everywhere.
- 9:50It's appeared in Hiller videos.
- 9:52It appeared on our show Sunday night with
- 9:54Carolyn having strong feelings about the
- 9:58subject because she heard it on Get With
- 10:01The Programming and their thoughts on the
- 10:03machines coming into the fitness space.
- 10:07So this one man,
- 10:10this one man has a gripe about machines.
- 10:15It leaks into all the other media in
- 10:17the space.
- 10:19And then I watched Dave's Week in Review
- 10:21yesterday, and it's on his show.
- 10:24And Dave takes five to ten minutes to
- 10:28talk about why machines are important,
- 10:31why he uses machines, all of that stuff.
- 10:36So this one podcaster,
- 10:37this one third-party media brings up one
- 10:41grievance he has about things going on in
- 10:43the CrossFit space.
- 10:45And it has spread to every other media
- 10:48member.
- 10:49And CrossFit itself with Dave Castro,
- 10:52it's being talked about everywhere.
- 10:56And it's become a legit controversial
- 10:59topic about are we leaning too much on
- 11:02machines in workouts?
- 11:07So I ask you, why,
- 11:11if you're an event and things can become
- 11:15so viral so fast and you never know
- 11:18where it's going to come from,
- 11:21in this third-party media world,
- 11:24why would you not embrace third-party
- 11:27media coming to your event,
- 11:30doing live podcasts, doing...
- 11:34their thing inside the walls of your
- 11:37entity and sharing what they're doing at
- 11:40your event to get people talking about
- 11:43what's going on in your event.
- 11:49And I know the reason that they do
- 11:51not do it is because there is a
- 11:53fear that someone is going to talk poorly
- 11:56about them.
- 11:59Now,
- 11:59I just told you my biggest viewed shows
- 12:04are the ones where people hit dislike.
- 12:08So if you're a third party entity or
- 12:11if you're an event and you're letting
- 12:13third party media in to talk.
- 12:17Okay,
- 12:17maybe they say something that isn't
- 12:19flattering,
- 12:21but if it takes off and people are
- 12:22talking about your event and people are
- 12:25then now viewing your event to see what
- 12:27happens or what is going to happen beyond
- 12:29that,
- 12:30isn't that a good thing for your event?
- 12:36It's also a way to collect constructive
- 12:38criticism about what's going on and maybe
- 12:42with some tweaks and things you can fix
- 12:44what's going on.
- 12:47The more we become bland and predictable,
- 12:51the less people are going to watch.
- 12:54And that is the events themselves are
- 13:00becoming more and more predictable.
- 13:11Great minds think alike,
- 13:12fools seldom differ.
- 13:20Ken Walter said,
- 13:21drama and controversy sells on CrossFit
- 13:23podcast.
- 13:24Sex sells everywhere else.
- 13:26Jay Birch says,
- 13:27pretty sure the latter sells in CrossFit
- 13:29podcast too.
- 13:31Probably true.
- 13:33Probably true.
- 13:34But the reason you watch a podcast is
- 13:37so, at least for me,
- 13:39and I think I speak for a large
- 13:41number of people,
- 13:43And the reason that in the CrossFit space
- 13:45they're so popular is because you get to
- 13:49give your instant feedback in the chat.
- 13:53Or like me,
- 13:53I just yell at the TV.
- 13:56Oftentimes I'm just yelling at the TV on
- 13:58what people are saying.
- 14:01And because I get that interaction with
- 14:03them,
- 14:04I tune in because I want to have
- 14:07that interaction and these discussions
- 14:10about topics within the space.
- 14:14So I ask,
- 14:15why is it that when I apply for
- 14:21a media credential at Legends or the age
- 14:26group CrossFit Games,
- 14:28and I don't get any other access than
- 14:32what a spectator can get?
- 14:35Two years ago,
- 14:36I put together an eleven part documentary
- 14:38free of charge,
- 14:39highlighting the athletes of the of the
- 14:42age group CrossFit Games and highlighting
- 14:45the event that they just took part in.
- 14:47And ninety eight percent of it was
- 14:49positive.
- 14:53Ninety eight percent of it was positive.
- 14:55And then the following year,
- 14:56I can't even get close to the the
- 15:00floor where the people are competing.
- 15:05My five foot one camera woman has to
- 15:09like get her lens through heads of people
- 15:13trying to get any kind of action on
- 15:15the floor.
- 15:19Legends is going on last weekend.
- 15:22What media did you see coming out of
- 15:27what media did you see coming out of
- 15:29legends last weekend?
- 15:33None,
- 15:34none except for what they produce
- 15:36themselves.
- 15:39And there's,
- 15:39that is not going to make any,
- 15:42the media you do yourself is all
- 15:44promotional about your event and there's
- 15:46nothing controversial about it.
- 15:48It's not going to go viral.
- 15:50It's not going to do anything to promote
- 15:51your event.
- 15:53And it stays inside your circle with
- 15:55nobody outside that circle getting to see
- 15:58anything that you put out.
- 16:02It is utterly ridiculous.
- 16:05Yeah, Mark Phillips,
- 16:07just Corey's live stream.
- 16:08Yeah, I got to see Corey's live stream.
- 16:10I got to see Becca Voigt's live stream.
- 16:12And I got to see Maddie Betts' live
- 16:14stream and Denise Moore's live stream.
- 16:18And that is the athletes themselves with a
- 16:20friend holding up a phone showing us what
- 16:22they're doing.
- 16:29Because you can't get access with them
- 16:32because they have made the choice to get
- 16:36paid by a company doing photo packages and
- 16:39video packages for the athletes.
- 16:43They won't let third-party media come in
- 16:45because they don't want to get rid of
- 16:47that cash cow.
- 16:49And it's so damn short-sighted.
- 16:51So short-sighted.
- 16:58I literally saw nothing from legends,
- 17:01whether it was a hype reel highlight or
- 17:03any press or any recap or anything.
- 17:06I saw like a drone footage of the
- 17:08swim that they put out.
- 17:10I saw a couple hype videos, maybe two.
- 17:15It's ridiculous.
- 17:26denise says hi she just came into the
- 17:29chat congratulations on your victory last
- 17:31weekend denise what we're talking about is
- 17:33the lack of third-party media coverage at
- 17:36legends and it's because legends just will
- 17:39not allow people to um come in and
- 17:43do any kind of content outside them and
- 17:46their own entity and what it does is
- 17:49it does not expand the viewership beyond
- 17:53the inner circle of legends
- 18:00It just doesn't.
- 18:03John George, zero coverage.
- 18:05I didn't see a single thing come across
- 18:07my algorithm.
- 18:09Ninety percent of what I consume is
- 18:10CrossFit.
- 18:11But why are you surprised?
- 18:12I'm not.
- 18:13I'm not surprised.
- 18:14I'm disappointed.
- 18:16I'm just disappointed.
- 18:18And it's not just legends.
- 18:19I'm not just picking on legends.
- 18:21It is every event wants to withhold the
- 18:27ability for third-party media.
- 18:29They make it so hard.
- 18:31Even the CrossFit Games until this past
- 18:34year has been very difficult to get access
- 18:39to anything.
- 18:41This was the first year we got any
- 18:43kind of additional access to anything and
- 18:47athletes to be able to talk to them
- 18:49during the event because they have such a
- 18:52tight rein on what can and cannot be
- 18:55said about them.
- 19:03Uh, yeah,
- 19:04I see Denise said the podium was streamed,
- 19:06but that, what does it,
- 19:07at that point you get to see who
- 19:09wins,
- 19:09but you don't get to see how they
- 19:10won.
- 19:15Um, so I don't know.
- 19:17I just, I, I look at like how,
- 19:22again, I go back to,
- 19:24I look at how Savan made one comment
- 19:26about machines that has taken over the
- 19:29media world in the CrossFit space.
- 19:33I have said things about the structure of
- 19:35WFP and the way they pay out athletes
- 19:38that got shared everywhere.
- 19:42You want things that go viral.
- 19:44You want things outside of your circle to
- 19:47spread out to the world to share what's
- 19:49going on at your event, I would think.
- 19:54But everybody is so protective and have so
- 19:58thin-skinned about what people may say
- 20:00about them that they avoid that
- 20:02controversy and they don't allow
- 20:06third-party media to come in and say
- 20:08anything about their event or broadcast
- 20:11anything about their event.
- 20:14It is so short-sighted.
- 20:18It's one of the biggest problems we have
- 20:20going on in the space.
- 20:23Because Legends ended on Sunday,
- 20:28and I haven't even talked about it yet.
- 20:30And I am a super fan of the
- 20:33age group athletes.
- 20:35I want to talk about it,
- 20:36but how do I talk about something that
- 20:37I did not see or could not get
- 20:41access to?
- 20:49it's just utterly ridiculous that nobody
- 20:52can see the forest for the trees.
- 21:01Yeah.
- 21:02Denise, thank you for the congratulations.
- 21:03We got a lot of nice gifts at
- 21:05the end and cash.
- 21:06Yeah.
- 21:07For the first time in years,
- 21:08legends paid out.
- 21:11And that it was a footnote on an
- 21:13Instagram post.
- 21:15That is something that like,
- 21:17if you're an age group athlete and you
- 21:18learn that you could actually make money
- 21:20by podiuming at this event,
- 21:23it would make a world of difference on
- 21:25whether you would be willing to compete or
- 21:27not.
- 21:29Yet it is a footnote on an Instagram
- 21:31post on an internal post that nobody,
- 21:35the only reason I saw it is because
- 21:37Holly sent it to me.
- 21:40If Holly wouldn't have sent it to me,
- 21:42I would have no clue.
- 21:45Because I would have missed it.
- 21:51But yeah,
- 21:52they actually got paid this year.
- 21:54We don't get to talk about that because
- 21:56they didn't let anybody see that.
- 22:01And I look at the WFP that's happening
- 22:03this weekend and the such little video...
- 22:09available about what's going on.
- 22:10You have all these athletes doing meet and
- 22:12greets.
- 22:12You have all these athletes there on site
- 22:15and nothing is coming out about it from
- 22:17the WFP.
- 22:24And they have, they've made it so hard,
- 22:30so hard for third party media to,
- 22:32to get involved because they don't want,
- 22:36they,
- 22:36they just don't want the controversy.
- 22:42I mean,
- 22:43the fact that Colton is in sixth place
- 22:50going into the finals at WFP and doesn't
- 22:53even know the contract structure of what
- 22:55it may be like if he gets it
- 22:58because they won't make public with the
- 23:01contracts that they gave out this year.
- 23:09Hiller,
- 23:10I put out more at crash than they
- 23:11have at WFP thus far.
- 23:13There is absolutely no doubt about that.
- 23:21I understand, Jonathan,
- 23:22that Colton is not a pro,
- 23:24but because they're not making the details
- 23:26of the contract public,
- 23:28nobody understands it.
- 23:30So if you don't understand what you're
- 23:32fighting for,
- 23:33nobody's going to buy into the fact that
- 23:35they're trying.
- 23:37What does it mean to have a contract?
- 23:39How many events do they have to
- 23:40participate in to keep the contract?
- 23:43Nobody knows any of those details.
- 23:46It wasn't until they were pushed on it
- 23:49by third-party media that they released
- 23:52what the contracts would be next season.
- 23:56I mean,
- 23:56Will went from saying we're not going to
- 23:58release the information to releasing the
- 24:00information because they actually got
- 24:03pushed on it.
- 24:11It requires actual work.
- 24:12They don't work.
- 24:13They snatch two seventy five on the arena
- 24:15floor.
- 24:24Denise, who won legends this year,
- 24:26didn't realize she gets an automatic
- 24:28invite to Delmar for winning.
- 24:31She just has to qualify for the semis.
- 24:35And she found that out after she won.
- 24:39Like,
- 24:39none of this information is out there for
- 24:41anybody to see.
- 24:50Thank you, Siobhan.
- 24:52If you want the algorithm to feed you
- 24:53this show every morning,
- 24:54make sure you like and subscribe.
- 24:56Thank you so much for that.
- 25:07The WFP is more confusing than an
- 25:09essential oils MLM scheme.
- 25:12I couldn't have said it better myself.
- 25:18Yeah.
- 25:20So there's all this media out there.
- 25:25I used the example of Savan complaining
- 25:27about machines and how it has taken over
- 25:29the media space in the CrossFit world.
- 25:32It is everywhere.
- 25:34That influence can be used for good if
- 25:38you're an event.
- 25:39It can be used to promote your event,
- 25:43but you refuse to reach out to everybody
- 25:45because you're afraid of getting your
- 25:47feelings hurt.
- 25:52with some small changes,
- 25:54reaching out to some of this third-party
- 25:56media who are dying to cover your events,
- 25:58who are dying to get more information,
- 26:02suck it up, get some thick skin,
- 26:06let people in that can help promote your
- 26:07stuff.
- 26:12Your reels,
- 26:15your internal shit is not going viral.
- 26:18It's not taking over the media space.
- 26:22Hillers is, Savans is.
- 26:25Those are the people that are making a
- 26:26difference.
- 26:27Let people in.
- 26:29Let them talk about your stuff.
- 26:31Let them have access to the information so
- 26:34that this stuff can grow outside of your
- 26:37bubble.
- 26:44That's a big problem.
- 26:48Look at Rogue.
- 26:49Rogue is one of the biggest entities on
- 26:51the face of this CrossFit world.
- 26:56And Katie does an interview with Siobhan
- 26:58every night after the show because she
- 27:00knows that that reaches people that she
- 27:03can't.
- 27:07Athletes let Hiller come to their house
- 27:10and do forty-eight hours with them because
- 27:13they know that that reaches beyond them.
- 27:18outside of their bubble to help promote
- 27:20them.
- 27:22Those are the smart people in the space.
- 27:25Those are the people that get it.
- 27:29Hell,
- 27:29the games Dave comes on with Sivan after
- 27:32every night of the show.
- 27:33The biggest,
- 27:35biggest entity in all of the CrossFit
- 27:37space.
- 27:39They know it's worth taking fifteen
- 27:41minutes to come on a show to reach
- 27:44people that they don't get to reach.
- 27:49And these other entities are just dumb and
- 27:53so afraid that someone's going to say
- 27:55something bad about them.
- 27:57And they're going to be stuck as small
- 27:59entities.
- 28:06I don't know why athletes aren't begging
- 28:08Hiller to come for a weekend.
- 28:09Honestly, I don't know either.
- 28:22I don't know your sources, Seema Boobs,
- 28:24courtesy of Vindicate.
- 28:26That would require Will not being high for
- 28:27thirty minutes.
- 28:30I don't know his weed smoking schedule,
- 28:34but sure.
- 28:46Does that mean I have permission to leave
- 28:48your show if you run over, Siobhan?
- 28:53It's a free market, buddy.
- 28:55You can go wherever you want to go.
- 28:58There's enough talk going on for
- 29:00everybody.
- 29:07So yeah.
- 29:09So that's my little riff about that.
- 29:13I want to finish up with...
- 29:16just because I've been transparent about
- 29:18this,
- 29:18I'm going through these health issues.
- 29:20Uh,
- 29:20tomorrow is my consult for the biopsy on
- 29:23my lungs.
- 29:25Um, again, they don't believe it's cancer,
- 29:29but they have to rule that out.
- 29:31They believe I have sarcoidosis, um,
- 29:34and they can't treat the sarcoidosis until
- 29:36they know for sure that there's not
- 29:38cancer.
- 29:39So I have to have a biopsy.
- 29:41Um,
- 29:43That means that tomorrow I will not be
- 29:46doing a show.
- 29:48I will be at the doctor's office going
- 29:50over the options for the biopsy tomorrow
- 29:53and hopefully being scheduled for that
- 29:55biopsy.
- 29:58And then once I get through that,
- 30:00I'll let you guys know when the biopsy
- 30:01is.
- 30:02And hopefully we will get back on the
- 30:05road to recovery.
- 30:06The medicine that they've been giving me
- 30:09in the meantime has stopped my coughing
- 30:13for the time being.
- 30:16And that has been good.
- 30:16It's really helped with sleep.
- 30:18In addition to that,
- 30:20sleep is helped by my third Z.
- 30:24So use code Jazzy to get fifteen percent
- 30:26off that.
- 30:28Sarcoidosis.
- 30:29Sarcoidosis is an autoimmune disease.
- 30:33It's where your antibodies overproduce the
- 30:37cells to fight disease.
- 30:39And when that happens,
- 30:41then the cells that are produced create
- 30:47masses and they stick to an organ.
- 30:49Mine has stuck to my lungs is what
- 30:55they believe has happened.
- 30:58And so there's two options of going into
- 31:03my lung to get, um,
- 31:05to get the biopsy.
- 31:08One is down through my nose.
- 31:10One is through the, the chest wall.
- 31:14Um,
- 31:14so they're going to go over those two
- 31:15things with me tomorrow and we will pick
- 31:18what is the better option, uh,
- 31:20to get the biopsy and hopefully get
- 31:22scheduled.
- 31:23But that is what sarcoidosis is.
- 31:26Um,
- 31:27It's basically an autoimmune disorder
- 31:29where my body is producing too many
- 31:31antibodies to fight disease,
- 31:34and they don't know where to go when
- 31:36there's too many of them.
- 31:37So they create little masses.
- 31:39So my lungs right now have little masses
- 31:41on the lung wall,
- 31:44and they just have to determine that it's
- 31:49not cancer so they can treat it and
- 31:52get rid of it.
- 31:58does it inflame your whole body to like
- 32:00give you pain throughout your body?
- 32:02Uh, I don't know.
- 32:04Like, I don't feel great.
- 32:05I I'll be honest.
- 32:06Um,
- 32:07and it has worsened over the past few
- 32:09months.
- 32:10Um, but, uh,
- 32:12the medicine they're giving me is making,
- 32:14it's helping me breathe much, much better.
- 32:16It's helping me, um,
- 32:18through a lot of this stuff,
- 32:20but it's not treating what's wrong.
- 32:22So it's just kind of masking it until,
- 32:25um,
- 32:28until until it can be uh cured um
- 32:34so i'm just i've got i'm doing these
- 32:37band-aid medicines to get me through the
- 32:39holidays essentially until we can figure
- 32:41the whole thing out
- 32:44Jay Burch says,
- 32:45I would think through the nose.
- 32:46Yeah, again,
- 32:47I'm not a medical professional.
- 32:49Shanna is the person that's better to
- 32:51answer these things.
- 32:52I would think through the nose is less
- 32:54invasive because the other way is like
- 32:58actually through my skin.
- 33:00So...
- 33:02Um, Shanna says, yes,
- 33:05it does yucky for some people.
- 33:07Yeah.
- 33:07I, I just feel yucky someday.
- 33:10And some days are better than others.
- 33:12It comes and goes.
- 33:14And I really don't know the bad days
- 33:16until I wake up and kind of see
- 33:18it.
- 33:22Um, Denise asked,
- 33:24do I feel better that I have a
- 33:25path forward?
- 33:26So much better.
- 33:27Um,
- 33:28I think my wife will feel a whole
- 33:29lot better when they confirm it's not
- 33:31cancer.
- 33:32Um,
- 33:33even though the doctor says the shape and
- 33:35the size do not lend him to think
- 33:38that it's cancer at all.
- 33:40They just have to make sure it's not,
- 33:43but it has really, um,
- 33:45kind of rocked my wife about, um,
- 33:52them saying biopsy.
- 33:54I have to go to the cancer center
- 33:55to have the biopsy.
- 33:57Like those things are just getting,
- 33:59they're kind of just messing with her
- 34:01head.
- 34:04Trish,
- 34:05have you tried coughing really hard and
- 34:06coughing it up?
- 34:07I've been coughing for four years, Trish,
- 34:10because of this.
- 34:11And finally they figured out what's
- 34:13causing the cough.
- 34:15And so I've coughed hard for four years.
- 34:23denise says they always have to state the
- 34:24worst options to cya my doctor is not
- 34:28saying the worst options he is saying that
- 34:31he is ninety five percent sure that it's
- 34:33not cancer that it is sarcoidosis but they
- 34:38but because of the way the treatment works
- 34:40it cannot be the other thing and so
- 34:42they have to rule that out before they
- 34:44can start treating
- 34:49worth a shot yeah I've coughed up for
- 34:52a long time and I'm so glad that
- 34:55I'm not doing that right now like I
- 34:56can actually get through my day without I
- 34:59mean ever since COVID if you're in public
- 35:01and you cough you're looked at like you
- 35:03have the plague and it wasn't due to
- 35:08COVID I'm just coughing because of this
- 35:10other thing so yeah
- 35:17Meredith,
- 35:17since they're treating the symptoms,
- 35:19it makes you a bit more functional right
- 35:21now versus always feeling like you need to
- 35:23cough up a lung.
- 35:24Exactly.
- 35:25That is exactly what's happening right
- 35:26now.
- 35:29And then Terry says, it's scary,
- 35:30but the cancer centers have the most
- 35:32experience with biopsies.
- 35:33Yes,
- 35:33I actually told my wife that exact same
- 35:36phrase.
- 35:38You know, I mean,
- 35:40we've been together thirty three years.
- 35:45you know, we kind of love each other.
- 35:48So it's, it's tough.
- 35:51She just hears these words and it scares
- 35:53her a little bit.
- 35:57So I just wanted to give you guys
- 35:59an update on all that.
- 36:03But what I'm really excited about is
- 36:05getting back to working out where I'm not
- 36:09feeling so doggone tired and coughing up a
- 36:12lung every time I work out.
- 36:16I'm ready to get back to some intensity
- 36:18and being able to really get after it
- 36:20when these things are cleared out of my
- 36:22lungs.
- 36:25So that is the light at the end
- 36:27of the tunnel.
- 36:28That is what's making me optimistic about
- 36:30the future.
- 36:31And...
- 36:34I can't wait to get after it after
- 36:36the first of the year when they get
- 36:38these things out of my lungs.
- 36:42So that's what I'm super excited about.
- 36:48And I'm glad you guys are with me
- 36:51on this journey because you guys are the
- 36:52best.
- 36:53With that...
- 36:55Go support the people in the media space.
- 36:57They're awesome.
- 36:59Every single one of them.
- 37:01They are such a great group and they
- 37:05do so much for this CrossFit space that
- 37:09people don't even realize.
- 37:11I think it just happens around us and
- 37:13we don't realize what they are doing to
- 37:15make everything better.
- 37:17So go support everybody in space.
- 37:20Go listen to Coffee Pods and Wads.
- 37:23Go listen to Savan.
- 37:24Go listen to Hiller.
- 37:25Go listen to Wad Prep.
- 37:27All of those guys.
- 37:28They're awesome.
- 37:30With that, yes, Shanna,
- 37:34it will be nice for you to get
- 37:36back to normal.
- 37:37It will, yes,
- 37:39a better normal will be awesome.
- 37:42Thank you, Winter.
- 37:43Good luck.
- 37:44I appreciate every bit of that.
- 37:47After tomorrow, we'll be back Thursday.
- 37:49I talked to Corey a little bit today.
- 37:52When he comes on at some point this
- 37:53week, we will digest Legends a little bit,
- 37:58see how his weekend went.
- 38:00I know it didn't go to plan for
- 38:02him,
- 38:03but I'm sure we'll talk about it when
- 38:04he's on.
- 38:05With that, guys, thank you so much.
- 38:08Thank you for the prayers.
- 38:08Thank you for the good luck.
- 38:10I'll let you know what I find out
- 38:11tomorrow on Thursday.
- 38:13And we'll be back then on Lunch with
- 38:16the Clydesdale.
- 38:17Thank you guys so much.
- 38:18Love you.
