  We normally start with college football, but this week we're

  going to talk about baseball first huge sports weekend.

  I was in Cleveland over the weekend, Saturday and Sunday.

  That's why we're starting with baseball.

  Unbelievable atmosphere, Progressive Field to meet.
• 0:23
  It'll always be the Jake Still, but the Cleveland Guardians, one
• 0:29
  of the most amazing stories, comeback stories we've seen.

  Whatever the number is, how many games they were back just in
• 0:35
  September of the Tigers, I believe it was 11 1/2 games.
• 0:41
  And also this team can pitch. But if you look at the offense
• 0:45
  and I watched him play Saturday and Sunday.
• 0:48
  And by the way, my buddy Dan Puente is the assistant hitting
• 0:51
  coach. You look at their offensive
• 0:53
  numbers though, and you see Stephen Kwan OPS is 700
• 0:58
  something and then Jose Ramirez is an absolute stud.

  His OPSI think it's like 863. The rest of the team basically
• 1:07
  OPS is in the six hundreds, like 650 for almost the whole rest of
• 1:11
  the lineup. I looked last week still, so I
• 1:14
  don't know the exact number now, but they had a negative run
• 1:17
  differential for the season. That a negative run differential
• 1:21
  for the season and we're in first place.
• 1:23
  And you had just incredible moments over the weekend.

  On Saturday, great game versus the Rangers and a freaking walk
• 1:34
  off hit by pitch. They win with a walk off hit by
• 1:41
  pitch, which gets them into the play offs.
• 1:44
  So that that basically got them at least the wild card.
• 1:49
  Then they come back on Sunday. So Saturday night, by the way,
• 1:52
  that's a night game. They do all the celebrations and
• 1:55
  all that they do the the champagne comeback day game.

  Obviously Sunday everybody plays at the same time, which is about
• 2:03
  3:10 Eastern Time. Cleveland's in Eastern Time.

  I don't know if everybody knows that I'm here back in Saint
• 2:10
  Louis. I got back this morning.

  Saint Louis is in central time and I grew up in Ohio.
• 2:16
  I grew up in Toledo, OH. But sometimes when I tell people

  if they're not from Ohio, if you're from the West Coast or
• 2:23
  even central time zone, you might think, wait, Ohio is on
• 2:27
  Eastern Time? Ohio is the same time zone as
• 2:29
  New York. Yes, Ohio is on Eastern Time.

  Anyway, so that game, really good game Sunday back and forth
• 2:39
  and goes to extra innings. And the Rangers put what, a
• 2:44
  three spot? Obviously you have the ghost
• 2:46
  runner Rangers put a three spot on the board and then the
• 2:50
  Guardians are able to get a run and then freaking walk it off
• 2:55
  off the fair pole. Brian Grochio, if I don't
• 2:59
  pronounce all that correctly, I'm sorry.

  I'm not die hard Guardians, although they're my team now,
• 3:04
  all right, because my buddy Dan Ponce, but just crazy
• 3:08
  atmosphere. Fair pole Homer walk off.

  Now, to be fair, pun intended there they had already clinched
• 3:15
  the division because the Tigers had lost earlier.
• 3:20
  You know, the Tigers game ended, they put it up there on the
• 3:23
  Jumbotron. Tigers game ended like whatever,
• 3:26
  20-30 minutes before, maybe longer because this game went
• 3:30
  into extra innings and it took a while.
• 3:32
  So they already had the tiebreaker.
• 3:34
  The Guardians did. But pretty cool to actually win
• 3:38
  it on the field to like it, made it better.
• 3:41
  Obviously you win the game. They already would have won the
• 3:43
  division based on a tiebreaker. But to actually finish a game
• 3:46
  ahead and then to be able to celebrate with the fans again
• 3:52
  out there and it was pretty cool.
• 3:54
  They had this big flag for AL Central Division champs.
• 3:58
  Jose Ramirez is out there waving the flag.

  He kind of plants it in the ground.
• 4:03
  You had Frye, I should know his first name.
• 4:06
  Is it David Frye? I should know that the guy who
• 4:08
  got hit in the frickin face with the 99 mile an hour fastball
• 4:13
  from the school ball last week and he was out there with this
• 4:18
  crazy mask on over his nose. I mean, whatever he broke in his
• 4:22
  face or nose, I'm not even sure. I should have looked that up.
• 4:25
  But also, look, I'm never Mr. Journalism, but I'm really not
• 4:29
  Mr. Journalism this weekend because I was with the boys, all
• 4:32
  right? Met up with three or four of my
• 4:35
  buddies and my brother met us out there too.
• 4:38
  So we're doing a lot of drinking, lot of drinking.
• 4:41
  Good time. You know, you just get out
• 4:43
  there, do it for two days, come back to normal husband, father
• 4:50
  life. But I was just able to get out
• 4:51
  there good direct flights from Saint Louis to Cleveland.
• 4:54
  It just made sense. Come on back.
• 4:57
  But it was a great time. And even though obviously it
• 5:00
  wasn't a playoff game, it had a playoff atmosphere.
• 5:02
  Playoffs start on Tuesday, playoffs.
• 5:05
  And it did then kind of just remind me of the of the
• 5:10
  comparison to the Cardinals, where man, I got to experience
• 5:14
  so many moments like that covering the Cardinals from
• 5:19
  what, 2911, twelve, 13141519, all the different years there
• 5:26
  with the wild card against the Dodgers.
• 5:28
  COVID was weird. But to see the Cardinals, then
• 5:32
  they get swept and just to kind of go quietly into the night and
• 5:38
  John Mosaic, the president of baseball operations, he moves
• 5:42
  on. Heimbloom is going to take over.
• 5:44
  Hopefully better things are ahead for the Cardinals.
• 5:47
  I, I think they will be. I don't know how quickly that'll
• 5:50
  happen, but just seeing a playoff atmosphere walk off a
• 5:55
  team with something to play for with the Guardians, it really
• 5:57
  did make me miss the fact that we can have that in Saint Louis.

  It's been a while. We did have a couple games, 2022
• 6:05
  against the Phillies, so it's not that long ago.
• 6:07
  That was three years ago, but they've now missed the playoffs
• 6:10
  for three straight seasons. But we need that back because
• 6:14
  it's special. October baseball is special.
• 6:16
  And just that atmosphere was awesome and it reminded me of
• 6:19
  all the great times we've had here in Saint Louis with the
• 6:21
  Cardinals that we need to get back to.
• 6:24
  All right, OK. As I was flying out, I'm flying
• 6:28
  out Saturday. There weren't there weren't
• 6:31
  really that many great early games.
• 6:33
  Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm talking college football now
• 6:36
  I believe. What was it?
• 6:38
  Was it Illinois, USC? Was that an early game?
• 6:40
  Correct me if I'm wrong, but that 230 window, it was pretty
• 6:44
  sweet because I flew out at like 225 had the Wi-Fi going on
• 6:48
  Southwest and if I would have taken a picture of it, I if I
• 6:53
  could have, I would have, but I was using my phone, but I had
• 6:55
  like the picture in picture going.

  It was pretty sweet. I had the laptop going with Ohio
• 7:00
  State, Washington on the big screen and then I had my phone
• 7:04
  sitting up against it with LSU, Ole Miss.
• 7:07
  So I created my own picture in picture.

  Really good games to watch. And this was like the first half
• 7:12
  of those games, the flights only like an hour and a half, but
• 7:15
  Washington played Washington played Ohio State really tough,
• 7:18
  especially early. Ohio State comes back to to win
• 7:22
  it. Whatever the final score was 24
• 7:24
  six. Again, I was I was drinking this
• 7:26
  weekend. But just what a slate of games
• 7:29
  when you're talking Ole Miss, LSU and then the night games you
• 7:34
  had Oregon, Penn State, you had Alabama versus Georgia, just an
• 7:39
  awesome weekend of college football.
• 7:42
  And again, Ohio State, Washington was the game that I
• 7:45
  paid the most attention to. Then when I got to Cleveland, I
• 7:48
  watched the final, the the fourth quarter at the bars there
• 7:51
  where people were obviously into it doing the Ohio and all that.
• 7:55
  And I think, you know what, we'll see.
• 7:57
  I think Washington's pretty good.
• 7:59
  It wouldn't surprise me if Washington ends up being ranked.

  You could maybe make the argument that they should have
• 8:04
  been anyway, but they played Ohio State pretty Dang tough,
• 8:09
  especially early. Also watching that game, it made
• 8:12
  me think Ohio State the number one team in the country and I
• 8:16
  think they deserve to be the number one team in the country.

  I just, I don't know if they'll win the the national
• 8:21
  championship this year. I've just when I watch them and
• 8:25
  maybe they will, but I'm just saying like it's so hard to win
• 8:28
  the national championship and then to replace all that they
• 8:32
  lost. When you're talking about your
• 8:34
  offensive coordinator, your defensive coordinator, your
• 8:38
  quarterback, you know both running backs, but also you're
• 8:42
  talking about the quarterback position.

  You're bringing in a a super young and talented guy and
• 8:49
  Julian saying, but he's also super young and inexperienced.
• 8:53
  He's going to be really good. He's he's good now is what I'm
• 8:55
  saying. But I just think it's it's it's
• 8:57
  a hard ask for basically, essentially a first year.

  You know, he is first year starter, quarterback and new new
• 9:09
  offensive coordinator with Brian Hartline.

  Obviously Matt Patricia, he's great NFL experience at
• 9:14
  defensive coordinator and having to replace Jim Knowles, who's a
• 9:17
  stud, and he goes to Penn State and obviously Chip Kelly goes
• 9:21
  back to the NFL. All I'm saying is Ohio State's
• 9:24
  really good and really talented. I just think it's a really hard
• 9:27
  ask to ask a team to to replace Will Howard, who was your
• 9:33
  quarterback, who again, only played quarterback for one year
• 9:36
  at Ohio State, but he was at Kansas State for four years,
• 9:39
  whatever it was. So he was a veteran.

  You're asking the Buckeyes to replace your quarterback, your O
• 9:44
  coordinator, your D coordinator, bunch of NFL talent.

  I mentioned the running backs with Junkins and Trayvon
• 9:52
  Henderson. So and who knows, maybe I'm
• 9:54
  wrong. I hope I'm wrong, but that's
• 9:56
  just that's a tough ass to go back-to-back with replacing that

  much stuff. All right, then, how about the
• 10:03
  NFL game? Well, Sunday Night Football

  again. Hey, we're drinking, we're going
• 10:09
  to the games. It was a day baseball game, 3:00

  went long till 6 past 630, whatever it was.

  So we kind of reconvened later for the Packers, Cowboys.
• 10:20
  That was a fun game to watch. I know people probably don't
• 10:23
  like the fact it ended in a tie, but man, 4040 a lot of offense.

  That's what's fun about the NFL, just watching 2 teams execute
• 10:33
  offensively. Very into that.

  cost a guy who drives for him with 2311, Bubba Wallace could

  have won the race. Denny's trying to win his 60th.

  They make contact, Bubba hits the wall and that allows a

  Chevy. It allows the most popular

  driver in NASCAR, Chase Elliott, to win the race.

  What an incredible finish. People love the race.

  To me, Kansas is also just so racy guys can pass.

  It's fun to watch. So there you go.

  Couple other things just off the top of my head and we've we've

  discussed this before, but I am I am pro.

  I was pro the legalization of marijuana, but I have to say,

  the more you go into more of these cities, Saint Louis also
• 11:47
  just the fact that you have this overwhelming smell of marijuana
• 11:50
  is not a good thing. And again, I'm pro legalization
• 11:54
  of marijuana. I'm just wondering, you need
• 11:56
  some type of rule where there's like a public could be like
• 12:00
  alcohol. We're not allowed to do it in
• 12:04
  public. Now, obviously you have bars and
• 12:06
  stuff, but I'm saying like open containers.

  You can't usually walk down the street with a beer with an
• 12:12
  alcoholic beverage. I'm just thinking out loud here

  because man, some of these cities, Vegas was like this last
• 12:18
  time I went. Vegas is kind of always like
• 12:20
  this. You go place in downtown Saint
• 12:22
  Louis, just the overwhelming punch you in the face smell of
• 12:25
  weed is not good for our cities. All right, if you're still

  NFL because I was watching baseball once again.

  But that that night game, Sunday Night Football was pretty
