Speaker 1: Our first article is from cnn dot com and the
0:03
Speaker 1: headline is in pursuit of Gilanne Maxwell authorities alleged mysterious
0:08
Speaker 1: financial dealings with Jeffrey Epstein. The authors of this article
0:12
Speaker 1: are Erica Orden and Kara Scannell. In their pursuit of
0:19
Speaker 1: Gilaane Maxwell for what they say is her role in
0:21
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein's alleged sex trafficking ring. Federal prosecutors claim to
0:26
Speaker 1: have onearthed a series of unusual financial transactions involving the
0:30
Speaker 1: two that add a new layer to the mysterious financial
0:34
Speaker 1: complexities underpinning the larger Epstein saga, Follow the money. If
0:41
Speaker 1: you follow the money in this case, you will end
0:43
Speaker 1: up at a place that will knock your socks off.
0:47
Speaker 1: Like they said in the wire. If you follow the drugs,
0:51
Speaker 1: well you'll end up at the drug dealer. If you
0:53
Speaker 1: follow the money, well you'll end up in some politicians office.
0:58
Speaker 1: And that's the case here as well. Jeffrey Epstein and
1:01
Speaker 1: Guilain Maxwell both they had their finances intertwined. So if
1:06
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein was involved in money laundering, then so is
1:09
Speaker 1: Maxwell and vice versa. So that is what the authorities
1:13
Speaker 1: are looking at. Here for sure. There is a whole
1:15
Speaker 1: financial component to this that has not even been unveiled yet.
1:19
Speaker 1: And when they unveil the financial component to this, it's
1:22
Speaker 1: going to be sweeping and I would not be shocked
1:26
Speaker 1: if some serious names are caught up in the net.
1:30
Speaker 1: The financial relationship between Epstein, the late multimillionaire whose sources
1:35
Speaker 1: of wealth remain largely murky, and Maxwell, the British socialite,
1:39
Speaker 1: co conspirator, child abuser, all around Scuzbeg, whose newspaper tycoon
1:46
Speaker 1: father died just before implicated in a massive pension fraud scandal,
1:50
Speaker 1: has long been difficult to decipher. No, she hasn't see
1:54
Speaker 1: here's a problem with places like CNN. She hasn't been
1:57
Speaker 1: hard to decipher. You haven't done your legwork. You haven't
2:01
Speaker 1: done the proper research. With all of the resources available
2:04
Speaker 1: to you, you still have not pursued this case truly
2:09
Speaker 1: and accurately. Oh, sure, you've got a story here or there,
2:13
Speaker 1: or you've reached out to this person or that person
2:15
Speaker 1: here or there, But have you ever really dug deep?
2:18
Speaker 1: Have you done a long series on this that has
2:22
Speaker 1: gone on for months and months and months every single day.
2:25
Speaker 1: Of course, you haven't not in your publication and certainly
2:29
Speaker 1: not on TV. So she's not that hard to decipher. Okay,
2:33
Speaker 1: you have just not done your work CNN. The two
2:38
Speaker 1: ran in the rarefied world of billionaire bankers and society figures,
2:42
Speaker 1: but it was unclear how either came to have the
2:45
Speaker 1: means to support such a lifestyle. No, it's pretty clear, Okay,
2:48
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein was running around with guys like Leslie Wexner
2:53
Speaker 1: who were obviously bankrolling him. Now do I have that
2:58
Speaker 1: evidence in front of me, ironclad evidence? Saying that No,
3:02
Speaker 1: I don't, but I'm sure the prosecutors do, because guess what,
3:05
Speaker 1: there is plenty, plenty of circumstantial evidence that is strong
3:11
Speaker 1: as hell that is out there for the public to
3:14
Speaker 1: put together on their own. If the circumstantial evidence is
3:18
Speaker 1: that strong, can you only imagine what the depositions are
3:21
Speaker 1: going to look like? Can you only imagine what those
3:24
Speaker 1: subpoenas are going to entel. Epstein built himself as a
3:30
Speaker 1: money manager to billionaires, but it was not a parent
3:32
Speaker 1: that he had any clients besides Leslie Wexner, the founder
3:36
Speaker 1: and chairman of Victoria's secret parent company, L Brands, who
3:40
Speaker 1: took the unusual step of granting Epstein power of attorney
3:43
Speaker 1: and who later accused him of having misappropriated vast sums
3:47
Speaker 1: from Wexner and his family. Look, if he really stole
3:52
Speaker 1: that money from Leslie Wesner, why did Wexner wait so
3:55
Speaker 1: long to come forward and put him on blast? If
3:59
Speaker 1: he was scummy enough to steal that money and he
4:01
Speaker 1: was already convicted of those sex crimes, don't you think
4:04
Speaker 1: Wexner would be screaming from every mountaintop about this scuzzbag
4:08
Speaker 1: and how he stole money from him? But he didn't,
4:12
Speaker 1: So it makes me question what really occurred. Did Jeffrey
4:16
Speaker 1: Epstein really steal money from him? Or was this just
4:19
Speaker 1: more of a cover, more of their armor, more moves
4:23
Speaker 1: within moves as they tried to cover their tracks. Chairman
4:32
Speaker 1: of the parent company L Brands, who took the unusual
4:35
Speaker 1: step of granting power of attorney and who later accused
4:39
Speaker 1: him of having misappropriated vast sums from Wexter and his family,
4:43
Speaker 1: Maxwell has said in court papers that Epstein pledged to
4:46
Speaker 1: always support her financially. Isn't that cute? I'm sure Jeffrey
4:52
Speaker 1: most assuredly planned on helping Maxwell out if that he
4:57
Speaker 1: was still alive and she got busted. Right. But in depth,
5:00
Speaker 1: if you think he really cares, the only reason he
5:02
Speaker 1: cared in life is because he didn't want to be implicated.
5:06
Speaker 1: All of these people that received these hefty salaries in
5:08
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein's orbit, it was all for one specific reason
5:12
Speaker 1: to buy their silence. On Thursday, after charging Maxwell with recruiting, grooming,
5:20
Speaker 1: and sexually abusing underage girls as young as fourteen as
5:23
Speaker 1: part of Epstein's alleged years long criminal enterprise, federal prosecutors
5:28
Speaker 1: disclosed that for a five year period beginning in two
5:31
Speaker 1: thousand and seven, Maxwell and Epstein exchanged more than twenty
5:35
Speaker 1: million dollars between their bank accounts, with the sums going
5:39
Speaker 1: first from Epstein to Maxwell and then back to Epstein.
5:44
Speaker 1: I wonder what Jess Staley had to do with any
5:47
Speaker 1: of those transactions. JP Morgan Deutsche Bank Again, folks, this
5:51
Speaker 1: is why I laid out all of these financial issues
5:54
Speaker 1: for so long leading up to this point, so that
5:57
Speaker 1: once we finally had the arrest and we finally had
6:00
Speaker 1: all of our ducks in a row, we knew exactly
6:02
Speaker 1: where we stood. And the evidence is quite clear that
6:08
Speaker 1: there was money laundering going on fraud, wire fraud, all
6:14
Speaker 1: kinds of financial crimes and ones I'm sure I don't
6:16
Speaker 1: even know about we're taking place. And all of this money,
6:20
Speaker 1: every single dollar that is involved with any of these accusations,
6:25
Speaker 1: must be seized and frozen by the federal government asap.
6:31
Speaker 1: An attorney for Maxwell, Jeffrey S. Pagliuca, who didn't respond
6:36
Speaker 1: to her request for comment, she and her representatives had
6:39
Speaker 1: previously denied she engaged in sexual abuse or sex trafficking. Well,
6:44
Speaker 1: of course she's going to deny that, right. She's certainly
6:46
Speaker 1: not going to admit it. Oh yeah, that was me.
6:48
Speaker 1: I was involved. The eyes come and get me. Nah.
6:51
Speaker 1: Not a shrewd woman like this. She doesn't have any
6:54
Speaker 1: sense of what's right or wrong. She has no moral compass.
6:58
Speaker 1: All this woman thought about was the consolidation of power,
7:02
Speaker 1: compiling these dossiers of information on those they blackmailed, and
7:08
Speaker 1: moving their operation along so they look better in the
7:10
Speaker 1: eyes of their handlers. Legal experts said the transfers raised
7:16
Speaker 1: questions about whether those were legitimate payments or were used
7:19
Speaker 1: to mask a legal conduct. Oh yeah, no, they were regular.
7:22
Speaker 1: That's what most people do. That's how regular people conduct themselves,
7:26
Speaker 1: all these different transactions from LLCs from banks that don't exist, folks,
7:31
Speaker 1: are their ctrs? You know? Do we have title thirty
7:34
Speaker 1: one here? Were there any stars put on these transactions?
7:39
Speaker 1: We need to know all the details, and those are
7:42
Speaker 1: the fine details that the prosecutors have available to them
7:46
Speaker 1: and that they're using to predicate this case. Now, you see,
7:50
Speaker 1: I've been very critical of the prosecution, but we have
7:52
Speaker 1: to give them their kudos here for arresting Glean Maxwell
7:55
Speaker 1: in the first place. Now, so let's see where they
7:57
Speaker 1: go from here. Definitely are promising development. And if you remember,
8:01
Speaker 1: a few weeks ago, I was talking about how there
8:03
Speaker 1: were things happening behind the scenes that pointed to arrests
8:07
Speaker 1: happening very soon. And here we are, and still those
8:10
Speaker 1: things are still occurring. And now I don't have any
8:13
Speaker 1: inside information on this, right, I'm just telling you from
8:17
Speaker 1: experience of following how these things occur. There is something
8:21
Speaker 1: else occurring, something else going on as we speak. Now
8:25
Speaker 1: we're just waiting to see how the cards fall where
8:28
Speaker 1: they fall, and who is going to be the one
8:31
Speaker 1: with the spotlight dropped directly in their lap? The fact
8:37
Speaker 1: that she and he would exchange so much money indicates
8:40
Speaker 1: that they had a very close business relationship and that
8:42
Speaker 1: he clearly trusted her with a phenomenal amount of money,
8:45
Speaker 1: said Duncan Levin, a former federal prosecutor who handled money
8:50
Speaker 1: laundering and asset forfeiture cases in the Brooklyn US Attorney's office.
8:55
Speaker 1: You see, the legacy media is not willing to take
8:57
Speaker 1: the leap yet and tell you what this is. That
9:00
Speaker 1: it's a Rico case and these are Rico predicates. But
9:03
Speaker 1: I will tell you that because I know for a
9:06
Speaker 1: fact that's what's going on here. It is very obvious.
9:10
Speaker 1: And when you have somebody like Duncan Levine, a former
9:13
Speaker 1: federal prosecutor who handled the money laundering and asset forfeiture
9:17
Speaker 1: cases in Brooklyn, and that's who they're bringing in as
9:20
Speaker 1: the expert, they're giving you the easter eggs there, right,
9:22
Speaker 1: They're giving you the breadcrumbs of what to expect, a
9:25
Speaker 1: little foreshadowing. There may be a completely innocent explanation for it,
9:30
Speaker 1: but it definitely is a sinister data point, Levin said.
9:33
Speaker 1: He suggested that the lack of additional information provided by
9:37
Speaker 1: prosecutors about the transfers may mean they don't yet know
9:40
Speaker 1: their significance, but sought the flag for the judge. The
9:43
Speaker 1: odd looking behavior. For sure. They probably do not have
9:48
Speaker 1: an idea yet on where all of these transactions came from,
9:54
Speaker 1: where there were going, what their purpose was. They're trying
9:57
Speaker 1: to figure out figure that out right now. Probably they
10:00
Speaker 1: charge them with this stuff because they know the deal.
10:03
Speaker 1: They have the goods, they just don't know exactly what
10:05
Speaker 1: it is yet. Shan Wu, a CNN legal analyst and
10:11
Speaker 1: criminal defense lawyer, said the transactions that arouse my suspicions
10:15
Speaker 1: are the large transfers in the millions between her accounts
10:18
Speaker 1: and Epstein's accounts, which raises the question is there some
10:22
Speaker 1: kind of laundering going on? That is a great question,
10:25
Speaker 1: isn't it? Shan? That is the million dollar question at
10:28
Speaker 1: this point, isn't it? And I've been asking the same
10:31
Speaker 1: question for quite some time. It's nice to see the
10:33
Speaker 1: legacy media jump on board and start asking these questions
10:37
Speaker 1: as well. Is that her salary? Otherwise why would he
10:42
Speaker 1: need to be transferring such large amounts of money between
10:44
Speaker 1: their accounts If it's private transfers, that's very odd, Wu said.
10:49
Speaker 1: He said he suspects prosecutors are looking to see where
10:51
Speaker 1: the money trail leads and if it ties into some
10:54
Speaker 1: of the still unanswered questions about how Epstein funded university
10:58
Speaker 1: donations among other other transfers. Again, folks, this is very important.
11:03
Speaker 1: Them just bringing up the fact that they're looking at
11:06
Speaker 1: these sort of donations is significant because this is how
11:11
Speaker 1: these cases bloom. Right. You water it a little bit,
11:15
Speaker 1: you plant the seeds, you water it, and then before
11:17
Speaker 1: you know it, you have a full blooming garden of information.
11:21
Speaker 1: And that's what's going on. If this is the case
11:24
Speaker 1: and they're digging in this way, this is what I've
11:26
Speaker 1: been talking about for months now. This is how you
11:29
Speaker 1: handle Lorico case. This is how you go after a
11:32
Speaker 1: criminal enterprise. You don't patty foot around, you don't play
11:36
Speaker 1: grab ass with them. You charge hard and use every
11:40
Speaker 1: single tool in the toolbox to get convictions. During that
11:47
Speaker 1: time period and as recently as twenty nineteen, prosecutors alleged
11:51
Speaker 1: she moved hundreds of thousands of dollars out of time
11:53
Speaker 1: between her accounts. In March twenty nineteen, five hundred thousand
11:58
Speaker 1: dollars from one of her account to another. Four months later,
12:02
Speaker 1: more than three hundred thousand dollars from one account to
12:04
Speaker 1: another as recently as last year. Prosecutors say she held
12:08
Speaker 1: at least one foreign bank account containing more than one
12:12
Speaker 1: million dollars. She didn't have a job. Where did she
12:16
Speaker 1: get that money, folks from Jeffrey Epstein? Was that money
12:19
Speaker 1: gotten from ill gotten criminal activity? Chances are it was.
12:26
Speaker 1: Prosecutors also allege moves tied to her fifteen million dollars
12:30
Speaker 1: sale of a New York City property in twenty sixteen.
12:34
Speaker 1: After she sold the residence for for through a limited
12:38
Speaker 1: viability company, amounts totaling more than fourteen million dollars were
12:41
Speaker 1: deposited into an account she is listed as owning. Days later,
12:45
Speaker 1: a sum of more than fourteen million was transferred from
12:48
Speaker 1: that account into another account opened in her name. This
12:52
Speaker 1: is not normal behavior, not even for rich people. These
12:58
Speaker 1: are the moves of somebody who's in panic mode. And
13:01
Speaker 1: that's what she was. She's getting sloppy. It looks like here.
13:05
Speaker 1: In short, the defendant's financial resources appear to be substantial,
13:10
Speaker 1: and her numerous accounts and substantial money movements render her
13:13
Speaker 1: total financial picture opaque and indeterminate, even upon review of
13:18
Speaker 1: bank records available to the government. Prosecutors wrote, and that
13:23
Speaker 1: is a very good accounting of what's going on right,
13:25
Speaker 1: we don't know what she has, we don't know what
13:27
Speaker 1: kind of dough she has. I hope all of those
13:29
Speaker 1: assets are frozen. I hope that none of this is
13:33
Speaker 1: still being moved around, because we know that her family
13:36
Speaker 1: is populated with a bunch of smarmy soob's as well.
13:40
Speaker 1: At the time of her arrest Thursday, she was found
13:42
Speaker 1: living on one hundred and fifty six acre in Bradford,
13:45
Speaker 1: New Hampshire, a state that was acquired for one point
13:50
Speaker 1: seven million dollars in an all cash purchase in December
13:53
Speaker 1: twenty nineteen through a carefully anonymized LLC. According to court
13:58
Speaker 1: papers and the realty company, that on its face is
14:02
Speaker 1: just scary that somebody would be willing to put their
14:05
Speaker 1: name up for Gileaan Maxwell and go help her get
14:09
Speaker 1: this fucking place to live is just absolutely beyond imagination.
14:15
Speaker 1: How could anyone want to get in bed with Gilaan Maxwell?
14:18
Speaker 1: How could anyone try and defend her at this point?
14:20
Speaker 1: But it said some English dude was there helping her out. Again,
14:24
Speaker 1: that's another question I'm going to be digging into. Who
14:27
Speaker 1: is the English guy? Who was he? Why was he
14:29
Speaker 1: helping Elaine Maxwell, and what else is he involved in
14:33
Speaker 1: at this point his money? Is it tied up with
14:35
Speaker 1: Gilean Maxwell's money? Again, These are all questions that prosecutors
14:39
Speaker 1: are certainly trying to unpack right now. According to the
14:43
Speaker 1: indictment unsealed Thursday and court filings, Maxwell and Epstein have
14:46
Speaker 1: been financially entangled for many years. Prosecutors say that between
14:50
Speaker 1: nineteen ninety four and nineteen ninety seven, the period that
14:54
Speaker 1: covers her indictment, the two were in an intimate relationship
14:57
Speaker 1: and that he paid her to manage his various proper pies,
15:00
Speaker 1: which ranged from an Upper East Side mansion to a
15:03
Speaker 1: sprawling ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico. That is incorrect.
15:07
Speaker 1: There's no way that that was happening. So she wasn't
15:09
Speaker 1: getting paid for that. She wasn't just hired help. She
15:14
Speaker 1: was part of the leadership structure. She was the shadow boss.
15:21
Speaker 1: According to a lawsuit she filed in the US Virgin
15:24
Speaker 1: Islands earlier this year against his estate, she was employed
15:27
Speaker 1: by him individually and by several of his affiliated businesses
15:31
Speaker 1: until at least two thousand and six, during which time
15:34
Speaker 1: she was paid to manage his properties in New York, Paris, Florida,
15:38
Speaker 1: New Mexico, and the Virgin Islands, where he owned a
15:41
Speaker 1: private island. Pretty coincidental haunt that it was only until
15:45
Speaker 1: two thousand and six, right until the indictment. Then, oh no,
15:48
Speaker 1: she wasn't working with him anymore. That was because she
15:51
Speaker 1: was probably told by the lawyers to take a step
15:53
Speaker 1: back so she couldn't be caught up in a Rico case.
15:57
Speaker 1: It's very clear what's going on here now that wee
15:59
Speaker 1: can Monday morning quarterbacket hindsight, it most certainly is twenty twenty.
16:04
Speaker 1: Maxwell claimed in the suit that Epstein told her he
16:07
Speaker 1: would continue to support her financially even if she pursued
16:10
Speaker 1: a business venture of her own, and that in two
16:12
Speaker 1: thousand and four he gave her a typewritten letter with
16:16
Speaker 1: a handwritten note asking her to remain in Epstein's employ
16:19
Speaker 1: and promising that no matter what Maxwell chose to do,
16:23
Speaker 1: Epstein would always support Maxwell financially. Yeah, you wonder why, huh?
16:28
Speaker 1: Because she has the keys to all the skeletons. She
16:30
Speaker 1: knows where the bodies are buried, folks, she knows where
16:33
Speaker 1: everything is. That is why he's pay He offered to
16:37
Speaker 1: pay her silence the same reason he gave Leslie Groff
16:40
Speaker 1: and the other assistants two hundred thousand dollars as a
16:44
Speaker 1: salary when people on Wall Street are usually making sixty
16:48
Speaker 1: or seventy grand in that same position. This is hush money.
16:53
Speaker 1: Last month, both parties filed a joint motion to stay
16:56
Speaker 1: the proceedings in that lawsuit. We are in for one
17:04
Speaker 1: wild ride as the prosecution of Gilaane Maxwell continues to
17:09
Speaker 1: take form. And here in this segment, this series is
17:15
