- 0:00But about my own banger management fantasy hockey
- 0:02podcast. Woo woo, that was indeed not
- 0:07Josh on the mic. That was not Josh on the mic.
- 0:11Welcome into Bangor Management, the fantasy hockey podcast with

- 0:36when he once he gets back, if that ever happens, right, Josh?
- 0:40You change your tone. I like it.

- 1:20We really appreciate it. So let us get into the tidbits.
- 1:25The famous tidbits. Some call these news stories.
- 1:30We still don't know how tidbits came into play.
- 1:32But it had to be one of us. It wasn't anybody else so can
- 1:37figure it out. It was probably me to be honest.
- 1:39It was calling me but. I'm almost certain it was not me
- 1:42I lolly gagging and tidbits were not a part of.
- 1:44My vocabulary I'm logging the. You're lollygagging, that's for
- 1:48sure. Maybe let's do Josh's tidbits.
- 1:52Just admits but we have a lot of injuries this week again.
- 1:57Tons, tons. I, I think it's all Josh's
- 2:01fault. Josh isn't here.
- 2:02Injuries happen. To be fair, there was more
- 2:04injuries last week and Josh was here last week, so I don't wanna
- 2:07put all the blame on him. Josh, I got your back.
- 2:09But listen, maybe you, maybe you're, maybe you're onto
- 2:12something. Yeah, the the players agents
- 2:16need to coordinate with you moving forward, Josh, because
- 2:19clearly something's going on here.
- 2:21But yeah, anyhow, so we have Sean Monahan injured, which
- 2:26sucks. He is in a wrist brace.
- 2:28It's still ambiguous. And Chantilly would be the
- 2:31pickup for the potential 1C spot.
- 2:33Yeah, I think this was, I didn't get the chance to fully deep
- 2:38dive into what the injury exactly was like.
- 2:40I don't know how much time is gonna miss, but from what I did
- 2:42see, Columbus did recall a centre from the AHL.
- 2:46So if they're recalling a player, that kind of means that
- 2:49Monahan's gonna miss some kind of time.
- 2:51We just don't know how long yet. He was in a wrist brace, so
- 2:54that's not good news for a centre.
- 2:57I mean you're taking face offs and the risk is integral.
- 3:01So monitor that. But I think that once these spot
- 3:04obviously is up for grabs, I think Fantilli would be a option
- 3:10there. If you're gonna make a
- 3:11speculative ad before the news breaks and you want to get ahead
- 3:14of the curve, that's probably the guy.
- 3:15I would add they have other options, like even Voronkov
- 3:20could play centre, they could play cylinder there.
- 3:22So there are options. So I wouldn't, I wouldn't say
- 3:25fantasy is the guaranteed #1 but he's a great guy to speculative
- 3:30ad. I would say just monitor the
- 3:31situation and see what happens with that top line.
- 3:34Yeah, I think they called up Luca Del Bell Blues.
- 3:38What a name. I would not add him if there was
- 3:42a question. Yeah, he he's playing third
- 3:46line, so not fantasy relevant at all right now, but it's one of
- 3:49those things that you're like, whoa, what a name.
- 3:51And then next year at this time we're talking about him.
- 3:53He's like a point per game player, rookie of the year
- 3:55candidate, so. You'd be shocked, but maybe.
- 3:58Yeah, but mainly on Fantilli. Clearly he's the only one who
- 4:02really benefits here. Now he's going to be slotted
- 4:04between two guys who have been on fire.
- 4:06I don't know if he speaks Russian, as we clearly know Sean
- 4:09Monahan does, but at this stage, yeah, I mean, Monahan's been
- 4:14good for them. So kind of sucks.
- 4:16But this team is red hot and they have been honestly for most
- 4:21of the year. So given the fact that he's
- 4:23gonna play on the power play one, I think it's really good
- 4:26for his fantasy potential. Super highly touted rookie also.
- 4:29So yeah, definitely keep Ben Tilly, keep a close eye on him
- 4:34and maybe you can speculate about, as you mentioned, Kevin
- 4:38Cool and Stamkos is hurt, Will Ryan, Carly be on line one
- 4:44moving forward? Yeah, we didn't monitor the
- 4:46situation as well, but he left the game.
- 4:50He left last game with an injury.
- 4:51So we haven't really had any updates yet if he's gonna miss
- 4:54any time or not. But if he is going to miss time,
- 4:56I'd expect Ryan O'Reilly to slot into that one that one sees spot
- 5:00right away and maybe even get a look on the 1st power place and
- 5:04see already lost the spot to Gustav Nyquist.
- 5:06That's the only fantasy implications.
- 5:08I would say that second line gets extremely less enticing
- 5:11with Ryan O'Reilly off of it because he's been a little bit
- 5:14on a heater, right? Maybe the first line also takes
- 5:18a little bit of a dip because it was only really productive when
- 5:21it was at Trio, Forsberg, Stamkos at March or so.
- 5:23So I definitely keep an eye on that.
- 5:25They've been red hot as of late anyways, so maybe this kind of
- 5:28slows them down a little bit. But yeah, just keep monitoring
- 5:30the Samco situation and see if he misses any time.
- 5:33I'd add Ryan O'Reilly, who's only added he's only rostered in
- 5:35like 30-30 something percent of leagues.
- 5:37He'd be a straight up AD but as time doesn't miss any time then
- 5:41moot point. So what I think about this
- 5:44actually is that because O'reilly's been so good, you
- 5:47know, playing with these guys on the second line, it wouldn't be
- 5:50a shock to me if they tried to do fitters Peshkov, not
- 5:53Sveshnikov Peshkov because he's had limited opportunity, but
- 5:58he's been pretty good. So if he gets to play Eshb with
- 6:02Forsberg or Mars or so truly whichever 1 it gets to play with
- 6:06those two, you'd want to definitely add them because.
- 6:10He'd be good and deep leaks too because he's like 0% owned
- 6:13pretty much. Exactly like literally 0%.
- 6:15So keep an eye on that because whoever slots on that line 1 and
- 6:20as far as you mentioned, Kevin for O'Reilly going on the power
- 6:23play one, I think that's the obvious next step.
- 6:25So hopefully that does happen. If that's the case, we'll see
- 6:29how it gets juggled around. Maybe 4 spook would slot at the
- 6:32point where Stamkos is now or are these obviously their face
- 6:35off guy? So there could be could be
- 6:37positive fantasy implications for both O'Reilly and I would
- 6:42say Sfgov over like Tommy Novak for instance, so.
- 6:45Yeah, I think Tommy Novak also dealing with his own injuries.
- 6:47So there's that. But yeah, we should go to the
- 6:50next point. Yeah, then you got John Gibson
- 6:52heating up as he gonna get more starts as we get closer to the
- 6:55trade deadline. I don't think that that would
- 6:59change his. I don't think that his usage is
- 7:03going to change the stalls when really good all season.
- 7:05Like, I know it's obvious that the Ducks aren't a playoff team
- 7:08and that at this stage we can pretty much expect like, you
- 7:13know, it's gonna be sort of a tandem.
- 7:15But no, I mean, if anything, I think they also want to develop
- 7:18the stall. They've got a super young team.
- 7:19So I think it's going to be more of a ton of moving forward.
- 7:22I've definitely said to keep an eye on the situation because
- 7:24they've been alternating starts basically one for one.
- 7:27But Gibson lately got two games in a row.
- 7:31So I definitely something to monitor as well as the goalie
- 7:33market heating up because a lot of goalies are not in play in
- 7:37the trade on the trade deadline anymore.
- 7:40The Ducks, obviously Gibson is one of the biggest names there.
- 7:43And from what I've heard listening to, you know, insiders
- 7:45and whatnot, the time is looking for a big deal for Gibson.
- 7:50They're kind of asking for more than what teams are willing to
- 7:53pay. But as we get closer to that
- 7:55deadline, I think people get more and more desperate.
- 7:56They might get their price or they may drop their price a
- 7:59little bit because I think Gibson really wants a move to a
- 8:03team that is a contender so he can show that he still has it in
- 8:06him to, you know, compete at the highest level and bring a
- 8:10championship to a team. So I think he's the biggest name
- 8:13on the goalie market right now in terms of potential trade
- 8:16asset. So I would not be surprised if,
- 8:19you know, I'm kind of slowly maybe gives them the odd game in
- 8:23a row instead of giving them to distal just as we as we ramp up
- 8:26towards the trade deadline to make him more valuable and
- 8:29remind teams that he's a good goalie.
- 8:31Yeah, if he does get traded, would you think Dostal is like a
- 8:34must add? I know it's a few months.
- 8:36Away I mean Dostal is already he's in that type of category of
- 8:39goalie where it's like bad team but decent volume.
- 8:42The fact is now he has lost a significant amount of volume
- 8:46because obviously Gibson is getting basically 50% of the
- 8:48starts. But if he's getting was the
- 8:50volume that he's he's a must add.
- 8:51Like he's in that range of, you know, like a mountain bow or
- 8:55potentially like a biddington or a team that's probably not gonna
- 8:59make the playoffs, maybe makes a push can with the on game.
- 9:02But you're getting like 75% of the starts as a goalie for your
- 9:05fantasy team. And that's valuable in a lot of
- 9:07leagues. Yeah, exactly.
- 9:09There's the goalie of the future.
- 9:10That's why I don't think. I mean, yeah, you're right.
- 9:13If he does go to a team, Gibson, then of course the still is
- 9:17going to slot in. But for now, I still think it's
- 9:19going to be a tandem moving forward, but we'll just see what
- 9:22happens. So next we got Brock Faber is
- 9:25hurt. You got to keep an eye on who's
- 9:26going to get the P1 spot as a defenseman there.
- 9:30Spurgeon is also still hurt, so it could be a Brodine or a
- 9:32Chisholm. I'd be more interested.
- 9:36I think both of us would be more interested if it's broadened.
- 9:39Brodie's been pretty quietly good as an offensive defence in
- 9:42the past few years. Yeah, I mean, he's on a little
- 9:45bit of a point streak right now, kind of quietly, but he's he's
- 9:47mainly known as a block guy. I think a lot of Minnesota has a
- 9:50kind of some block specialists back in their decor, but he's
- 9:54one of those guys that can play like above 30 minutes a night.
- 9:57We just saw it last game when Faber got hurt, Brilliant played
- 10:0033 minutes. So if he's gonna play that
- 10:02amount of time and he's going to be on PP1, you're just expecting
- 10:05his peripherals to kind of skyrocket because it's gonna be
- 10:07on the ice so much. He's already so good at blocks.
- 10:10If you can, if you can chip in with maybe an extra, an extra
- 10:12hit a game or an extra shot. But getting exposure to that top
- 10:16line on the power play, I mean, that's he would be an instant
- 10:19ad. The only thing is that he's not
- 10:22really a power play specialist. So if he does get that
- 10:24opportunity, it's nice, but I wouldn't expect it to be, let's
- 10:26say, a mainstay without contention.
- 10:29But listen, he's worth A speculative at that point to see
- 10:33maybe you have some gold on the waiver wire there.
- 10:35Yeah, well said. Keep an eye out.
- 10:37Keep an eye for him. Did you put this next headline
- 10:40to confuse me because I have no idea how to pronounce his name?
- 10:44I've been doing fantasy hockey for years.
- 10:46I'll give it a try. I think it's grizzly.
- 10:49I think it's Chris look. I think that's how you pronounce
- 10:51it. But I mean, we gotta better get
- 10:53used to it if he's gonna be the one quarterback for the
- 10:56Pittsburgh Penguins. Way so, yeah, so grizzly, if
- 11:03that even is your name, Cracked power play one quarterback ahead
- 11:07of Carlson and Letang. If this sticks.
- 11:10He is a great pickup as a PowerPoint 1 defenseman for the
- 11:12Penguins that yeah, they're power plays been super hot
- 11:16lately. The only thing I'll say about
- 11:17this is that during his tenure for the Bruins, he did crack
- 11:22power play one and he was a mainstay there.
- 11:24Over above McAvoy at the time, right?
- 11:26Exactly, and while I like it for points leagues, especially
- 11:31because, you know, you're playing with Crosby on the power
- 11:34play, good things are gonna happen.
- 11:36However, I will say that it's worth mentioning that he's
- 11:40pretty one-dimensional for its entire career, so this is more
- 11:44relevant for points leagues. To me that's absolutely
- 11:47definitely more relevant for points leagues.
- 11:49I also wouldn't be shocked if by the time you're listening to
- 11:51this, he doesn't get the opportunity on P1 anymore.
- 11:54But at the time of this recording, it was the first time
- 11:57he ever practiced on PP1 ahead of Letang Carlson.
- 12:01And that's kind of tricky because they have three guys
- 12:03that can kind of quarterback a top unit.
- 12:05Like we've seen Letang do it his whole career there.
- 12:07Carlson obviously had a breakout year and then was the power play
- 12:11quarterback for most of the year this year.
- 12:14But now kind of they kind of split their power plants in two
- 12:18and have had a lot of success. They've slowly started to
- 12:20consolidate back onto 1 unit and Grizzly was practicing their
- 12:24this morning. So if you see a next game, he's
- 12:27over there and he's contributing.
- 12:29I mean, in points leagues, really deep points leagues, I
- 12:32would most definitely add him because you're not really
- 12:35getting the opportunity to stache power play one defenseman
- 12:39very often. But like I said, you gotta
- 12:41monitor the situation because I wouldn't be surprised if, you
- 12:44know, they just give it back to Carlson or whatnot.
- 12:46Well said. Then you've got Yaroslav
- 12:49Askarov. Is he the clear starter moving
- 12:52forward? So I picked him up in our main
- 12:55league and I'm very excited about this.
- 12:58Do you think the San Jose has like the rather sorry.
- 13:02Do these San Jose charter? Those are.
- 13:06There's only one thing and it's the the.
- 13:08Utah don't don't suspect them like that.
- 13:11Jo San Jose Sharks, I think the the starter for that team does
- 13:17not necessarily have a lot of value moving forward, although
- 13:20he has been elite, like his percentages over the past three
- 13:23games that he's played, which small sample size, but over 930
- 13:27is a save percentage for a goalie of that draft pedigree.
- 13:30I mean, this is like the next Vasilevsky conversation guy.
- 13:36I mean, it's not there yet and won't be there this year.
- 13:38But if the Sharks ever end up, you know, as a force moving
- 13:42forward, he's clearly their goalie of the future.
- 13:45Past three games is 938960 and 933 save percentage.
- 13:49And then, yeah, he's been nuts. A dud before that and then a
- 13:51929. So yeah, four out of his 5
- 13:55starts for them has been over a 929.
- 13:58Like that's wild to. Me, I mean, listen, San Jose is
- 14:02not one of the best teams. They're they're not a playoff
- 14:05team that I'm close to that so bad.
- 14:07So they're actually fun, but they're inconsistent.
- 14:09Exactly, they're fun team but you can't really expect many
- 14:12wins from them right? So that already hinders your
- 14:14ceiling as a fantasy only. The thing is obviously, like you
- 14:18just explained, like he's a super highly touted prospect.
- 14:21I think Nashville is crazy to get rid of him, but he's finally
- 14:24getting an opportunity. And I mean, they just traded for
- 14:26Georgiev, right? So that was supposed to be their
- 14:30quote UN quote starter, but Askarov has been outplaying him
- 14:33and has what, three starts in a row now?
- 14:35So he's only 20% owned in Yahoo leagues if he's available.
- 14:39And he's like a mainstay starter.
- 14:40Like I don't see why he's not as just as good as some of those
- 14:43goalies on other teams that are kind of like middling non
- 14:46playoff teams as well that are getting the bulk of the starts.
- 14:47So I put them in that conversation immediately, like
- 14:50Tristan Jarry and Montebello, that kind of thing.
- 14:53But clearly he's able to produce some really quality starts.
- 14:57And if that's the case, I mean, he's only 20 that on right now,
- 15:00that will be the time to scoop him right Them all.
- 15:02He's hot. Play the matchups if you can.
- 15:05And it definitely just adds another goalie into the fantasy
- 15:09conversation because I think it's way better than you have,
- 15:13if I'm being honest. Yeah, he absolutely is.
- 15:16And like I have Askarov and Jerry on my team.
- 15:18If I had to get rid of them for like 1 for whatever reason, I
- 15:21would rather keep ask her of moving forward so.
- 15:24Now more suit. Totally unbiased opinion, and I
- 15:27think that that's kind of where we're at with that quick little
- 15:30thing. I don't know why these teams
- 15:32like Florida and Nashville draft goalies so high if they have
- 15:36Bobrovsky and Sara's. Already like it, I mean it's
- 15:38like a contingency option. You want to have the next guy
- 15:40up, but then those guys end up playing like way longer.
- 15:42I mean, Bob, like we thought he was done right.
- 15:44And then he kind of revived his career.
- 15:48And I mean, Spencer Knight had his own fair share of off the
- 15:51ice issues and the asker of one. That's kind of perplexing too.
- 15:54I think. I honestly thought they trace
- 15:56arrows, but then they reassigned them.
- 15:59So that was just like a seal faded for us not really getting
- 16:03an opportunity there to be a starter anymore.
- 16:05Anyways, we should talk about this next goal.
- 16:08First place, Yeah. Great game.
- 16:12Sorry, Great game. Great name.
- 16:14Jacob Dobes. Jacob Dobbs.
- 16:16I guess it's. Called YouTube.
- 16:17I don't know. Yeah.
- 16:18Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's been.
- 16:22He's been good. He's looked great for them.
- 16:24He's been better than Montalbo. 44 Montreal Canadians Yeah, he's
- 16:30I mean, he's been really good. He got a shutout in his first
- 16:32start and he's been nothing but solid.
- 16:36I think this is my this is my perspective on it.
- 16:39I think they were looking for another guy that they're able to
- 16:43give some starts to take the load off of Monty's shoulders
- 16:45because months literally playing every game and that takes a toll
- 16:48on the goalie and they've found some really good quality in
- 16:52those. Primo was the backup and he was
- 16:54the one being an alternative option.
- 16:56And he was so bad, he didn't even get claimed on waivers in a
- 17:00league where so many teams are scrambling for a second goalie.
- 17:04So that is kind of goes to show what the outlook was on him.
- 17:07I think Dobby has shown a lot of promise.
- 17:09He's only had a few games. But if you're in a really,
- 17:12really deep league and you need one start a week, I think he
- 17:15could be an option. I mean, the Habs are on a roll
- 17:17right now. They're in a wild card spot
- 17:19right now. Like, that's crazy.
- 17:21I did not expect to have to be anywhere close to that this
- 17:23year. So, I mean, just monitor.
- 17:25Yeah, you did. You clearly did.
- 17:28You have proof. You have recorded evidence.
- 17:30I totally have proof. Everyone thought I was crazy.
- 17:33I knew that the Habs. We'll have to see how it goes,
- 17:36but yeah, the Habs have been clearly way better than expected
- 17:38as of late, so if that's the case then he's gonna have a
- 17:41better chance than not to get some wins.
- 17:42Like keep an eye on him, especially if you're a goalie.
- 17:45Need fantasy team? Like Kevin said, what Jobs is
- 17:48good for right now is like a star of the week type thing.
- 17:51One quick thing with goalies, the way that it works really in
- 17:54the NHL is that once they like you know, they see you play a
- 17:57few games, they know your weaknesses, this and that.
- 17:59Teams are going to start picking blocker side or glove side,
- 18:04depending for sure weaknesses. So, you know, ride the hot hand
- 18:08for now, but definitely don't get too attached.
- 18:11If you pick him up and he has another few good games, of
- 18:13course, it's hard to drop him if he continues this ridiculously
- 18:16good pace. But at the moment, speculative,
- 18:20yeah, Monty is still the starter.
- 18:22It's clear. I really only add him if you're
- 18:24in a really deep league. You need goalies on your roster
- 18:29and let's say the waiver wire is really, really empty with with
- 18:33options. Like if you if the jar jar,
- 18:36he'll say Yari, the Jari, the Askerov options are not even on
- 18:39waivers. Then I think Doves is kind of
- 18:41like one of those guys that you next man up you wanna pick up.
- 18:43But if you have a lot of options on waivers, I wouldn't.
- 18:45I wouldn't take A chance on this just yet, but it is worth
- 18:48monitoring because his quality has been really good and maybe
- 18:51like to have is kind of like give him some of the hot hand.
- 18:56Jacob Dobbs versus Jacob Fowler What's Jacob is going to be the
- 18:59goalie of the future? Fowler is the future.
- 19:01We'll see. All right then, you got Jonathan
- 19:04Droid in the top six and Power Play 1.
- 19:07He is widely available and should be rostered, but he's
- 19:10super duper injury prone and he gives missing time this year.
- 19:14It's hard to draw even if your league doesn't have an R Plus.
- 19:17I'll just quickly mention that at the time of his record, this
- 19:21recording, he sat out his most recent.
- 19:23Game worthy applauds heard again.
- 19:26Yeah, it's tough. It's tough.
- 19:28The thing is when you're healthy and you're playing with Nathan
- 19:30McKinnon on line 1 and on PU one like that's just such a hard
- 19:34player to drop, right, Because we don't have ceiling is so high
- 19:37when you're when you're being exposed to that kind of
- 19:39deployment. But if you're league doesn't
- 19:41have an IR plus and he's just gonna be an empty spot on your
- 19:44bench, it's tough. Like if these are worst player,
- 19:46I would say like I'd be open to dropping.
- 19:47But if you know that somebody else would scoop me immediately
- 19:50given your waiver situation, then I would try to try to hold
- 19:53them. But it's hard.
- 19:58Yeah, it is. It is.
- 19:59You're right, though. I mean, that ceiling is awesome.
- 20:02Not his back. Cats aren't great, but for
- 20:04points league it's tough. Yeah, you definitely.
- 20:08I mean for an IR plus league it's that's a huge.
- 20:11Advantage IR plus not in conversation you just you just
- 20:13hold them there. Yeah, and if I don't even know,
- 20:16if your league doesn't have that, I'd probably drop them to
- 20:19be honest, because it's just going to be too inconsistent.
- 20:21But like you said, it's a good plan.
- 20:24And last but not least, the Detroit power play under
- 20:28McClellan who was supposed to be a defensive minded coach from
- 20:32what I understood. But anyway they're doing so well
- 20:36it seems to have revived Kanes value.
- 20:39Is this sustainable? Maybe look to sell the Detroit
- 20:42guys before the honeymoon phase is over.
- 20:44I mean, there there over the last 20 power plays, they have
- 20:47like 10 goals. So that's just their power is
- 20:50working at a 50% rate right now, which is just insane.
- 20:54A lot of their fantasy assets, the main fantasy guys on Detroit
- 20:56have really benefited from this. You don't really know where the
- 21:00line draw the line. Where is it a new coach bump?
- 21:03Like how high is the bump? Where does it the bar settle at?
- 21:09But I think right now it's honestly really good opportunity
- 21:11to sell kind of those fringe guys that have the value.
- 21:13I think Kane is one of those, one of those names where, you
- 21:15know, he wasn't really fancy relevant beforehand.
- 21:17He's on a super hot streak right now.
- 21:20The yeah, I mean, what do you think?
- 21:22Well, we're gonna have more thoughts on this and the by low
- 21:25Sell high episode, so we encourage you to all tune into
- 21:29that as well. Overall, though, I don't think
- 21:32that this is sustainable at all. Dylan Larkin is someone who
- 21:35should be rostered in all leagues, but they're all doing
- 21:38amazingly well. These Detroit players.
- 21:41It's a bit like, I mean, it's it's more than what did you say?
- 21:46Like there are 50% over their past 20.
- 21:49Power, like 10 goals in 19 power players.
- 21:51It's over 50% technically. It's it's nuts.
- 21:55It's absolutely insane. So yeah, no, I I don't trust it
- 21:59at all. And I actually think that
- 22:01Detroit is a decent like I thought they would be.
- 22:04I had them pretty high in my rankings this year overall.
- 22:08We'll dive into it more in the next episode.
- 22:09But no, I don't think it's sustainable.
- 22:11I would sell all the non Dylan Larkin guys at their value.
- 22:14I do like to break it actually. I think he's kind of regressing
- 22:19towards more where he should be, but like Patrick Kane especially
- 22:22is the most glaring kind of overperforming.
- 22:26Asset right now, so that's. Where I'm at with that, Cool.
- 22:29Let's move on to the would you rathers.
- 22:32It's gonna be a little less fun since Josh is not here to give
- 22:35his opinion. But listen, we got the two
- 22:37better fantasy analysts here to give the correct opinions.
- 22:40The thing is, we don't have a tie breaker, so if we disagree,
- 22:42we just disagree. But I tried once again to cover
- 22:47at least one of every position. You know what that means now,
- 22:49Ricky? Yes, 1 ref, one coach.
- 22:56OK, so feel free to look up the verses on your Yahoo app while I
- 23:02go through this, but my first one for the Would you rather
- 23:06King this week is for goalies. Would you rather Joey Decord or
- 23:13Bennington rest of season now? The court has been hurt for a
- 23:17little while, but before his injury he was pretty hot.
- 23:21Just so Josh would say Beddington, like absolutely.
- 23:25I don't know if Josh would say Bennington.
- 23:27Actually, Josh may not say. Bennington Josh hates Pennington
- 23:30Josh Pennington owner and yet even though he just got gifted 2
- 23:34shutouts recently, he still hates him.
- 23:37This is when you're getting shot.
- 23:38He's averaging 750. So that's that's kind of the
- 23:40question. Yeah, so for me, I don't think
- 23:43this is a no brainer by any means, but I I'm much more
- 23:46confident taking Decord moving forward than Bennington just
- 23:50because even even like Bennington's best days, like I
- 23:54mean, not his first year where he was an absolute monster, but
- 23:58like since then, his inconsistency has just kind of
- 24:01been baked into the cake and Decor's been a pleasant
- 24:03surprise. So there's there's no reason for
- 24:05me to believe that the cord wouldn't be the better option
- 24:08and we're just looking at their comparison in every single way
- 24:11to court has been better this season than Bennington.
- 24:14Except Bennington has .06 more shout outs per game so whatever.
- 24:19But yeah, I'm much happier with the core moving.
- 24:21Forward. I think for me the conversation
- 24:24is who gets more starts rest of season.
- 24:26I think Billington will get more starts just because Seattle
- 24:30usually splits a little bit more.
- 24:33So because of the quantity, maybe he ends up getting more
- 24:35wins. But I think if you're talking
- 24:38save percentage the goals against average, I would bet my
- 24:41house enjoy the corridor so so that's.
- 24:45That poor guy yeah, I I I think this is the house bed as well.
- 24:50So I'm. I'm with you there.
- 24:52I mean, not not that I'm getting my house.
- 24:53That's your thing. I'm.
- 24:54No. Yeah, you can bet your house if
- 24:56you want. No, that's cool.
- 24:57That's cool. Let you do that.
- 25:00All right, 4 defensemen. My Would you rather is Jake
- 25:04Sanderson or Eric Carlson rest of the season now you're Carlson
- 25:08owner, so try not to be too biased.
- 25:10No, this is actually a very interesting 1.
- 25:12So I've since since the beginning of the season, I had
- 25:14offered a few trades to the Sanders and owner because I
- 25:17owned Sanderson and some of my other leagues.
- 25:19And I do think that in theory, like Tatterson should be better
- 25:25than Carlson, especially with the power play ambiguity and
- 25:28whatnot. But you know, looking at the
- 25:30comparison between these guys, Carlson has just been so much
- 25:33better recently. Sanderson has kind of been a
- 25:36little bit of a buy low, but he hasn't really bounced back.
- 25:39Yeah, it's a it's by low, then by lower and then keep buying
- 25:42low as I get a certain point. It's you know, I remember one of
- 25:47my biggest success stories so far, as I mentioned Zach Hyman
- 25:50and he popped off right away after like we like Sanderson has
- 25:54been Bilo eligible for weeks now and it's it's not changing
- 25:58really. I mean, I do think he's an
- 25:59amazing talent and kind of funny that you put these two in the
- 26:03conversation, right, because Carlson used to be the IT guy on
- 26:05the senators. But yeah, for me moving forward,
- 26:09even with Groszek, Groszek anyway, being the current gone
- 26:14power play one, I'm more confident than Carlson moving
- 26:16forward. So I'm no longer going to be
- 26:18offering those trades where, you know, Sanderson's quote, the
- 26:21better end of the deal. Yeah, I think I would go with,
- 26:26it's tough because Carlson has so much competition there, but
- 26:31Sanderson has no competition, isn't really producing right.
- 26:34So it's tough. I think Sanderson will end up
- 26:36getting more power play points, but that may not be enough to
- 26:39offset how much 5V5 points Carlson is going to get.
- 26:44I think Hanson easily gets more blocks, but Carlson more shots.
- 26:50So it's kind of tough. It depends what you're looking
- 26:52for, but overall, if I had to choose think I'm going, I'm Goin
- 26:54Carlson. Nice, nice, Josh.
- 26:57Strategy Sanders. And just, you know, I'm kidding.
- 27:00Don't know who he'd go with. Here I think, I think Josh would
- 27:03go with Sanderson just because of the power play.
- 27:05That's what I did. And listen, he might not be
- 27:07wrong. It's really 5050 for me.
- 27:08This was one of the harder ones when I.
- 27:10Put it in there. Difficult, yeah, but I'm
- 27:12confident to say Carlson. But it is.
- 27:14If Carlson Carlson doesn't consistently stay on PP1, I'd go
- 27:17Sanderson. That's my call.
- 27:20It's a little bit of a cop out because we're playing with some
- 27:22technicalities there, but yeah. Yeah, I'm still I'm still on
- 27:26team girls and firmly. Alright, alright, this is an
- 27:28interesting one too. Go for.
- 27:30It alright, this is I mean a little bit of a buy low and a
- 27:34little bit of a cell high, I think, but Rupe hints versus
- 27:37Mikasa Banner, Jad and Zibanejad listen, he's been really bad
- 27:40slowly on a four point streak now, so maybe he's turning it
- 27:43around. But throughout the season, I
- 27:46think this is a close one for throughout the season and the
- 27:49rest of the season mostly this is what we're looking for,
- 27:51right? Would you rather rest of the
- 27:52season? Yeah.
- 27:53What do you think? Off another tough one it's an
- 27:59interesting concept right because you said it's sort of
- 28:01like a Bilo slash sell high on the season.
- 28:03They're only .03 points per game apart, so it's.
- 28:08I mean, this is pretty significant. .66 to .63 I mean.
- 28:140.03 I said point. Three, yeah, no .3 is is say, I
- 28:18wouldn't have said no, but and what's interesting actually is
- 28:21that the management goals have sucked.
- 28:23They've been a point to all season and the management has
- 28:25been like the one timer guy for them on the power play.
- 28:29It's still the same trend last like over the last month though.
- 28:33Yeah, that's a .4. So .75 to .36 difference, that's
- 28:37a huge discrepancy. I mean, the manager was a
- 28:40notorious by low, right? Like he was one of the main
- 28:42guys. I mean, the Rangers were awful,
- 28:44still awful. They're slowly starting to turn
- 28:47it around. Like I said, like the last two
- 28:48weeks has been a lot closer. But I mean, they're looking for
- 28:52rest of season right now. You gotta call your shot.
- 28:54Yeah. So I think rest of season I'm
- 28:57probably going to go as a bandage out only because Dallas
- 29:01I think is going to score more and there's just too many guys
- 29:06on the team with offensive capabilities where whereas the
- 29:09Rangers, yeah, I mean, they've got a good team, don't get me
- 29:11wrong, but Trocheck is a unreal banger league centre.
- 29:15Not their best offence, not the best offensive centre you could
- 29:18get. It's a bandage that is their
- 29:20offensive centre. That's kind of just what it is.
- 29:23So I think they need it to like they need him in order to bounce
- 29:27back and much more so than Dallas needs group based.
- 29:30So I'm going to go about Ajad. I'm going to rupee in my logic
- 29:35is is more so that I think Dallas is a team is better.
- 29:40I think I think is a bandage add even though he's turning it
- 29:43around right now. I like rupee to I mean, I think
- 29:46their points are gonna be in the same range rest of season, but I
- 29:49think Ruby is gonna score more goals and I think the goal is to
- 29:51be a little bit more valuable there.
- 29:53Shots are gonna be about the same zip should get more power
- 29:57play points should that's the word I'm using.
- 30:00But I mean, I think Ruby is a little bit safer.
- 30:03The manager might get traded. I think obviously he's stuck
- 30:06there on that line 1. So I'm I'm taking a little bit
- 30:09more of the sure thing with Rupa and trying to avoid that Rangers
- 30:12playoff schedule and the Rangers kind of turmoil right now.
- 30:17This is a really tough one. I I'd actually really be curious
- 30:20to know what the listeners think about this because.
- 30:24These all, but I'll put it all in and pull in the Spotify
- 30:27comments, so make sure you pay attention there and maybe we'll
- 30:30run a poll on our socials to see what everybody thinks.
- 30:32I think this is a close 1 and I feel you maybe even able to
- 30:37trade one for one depending on who you have so.
- 30:41Yeah, it's just who do you want? Yeah, exactly.
- 30:43That's the question. Anyway, this is a good one.
- 30:47Please let us know what you think and.
- 30:50Next one, Nikolai Elers or Jared McCann.
- 30:54Now if this was a question that you were asking last season, I
- 30:57think it was clearly Euler's, right?
- 31:00I mean, he's getting more shots. The points were kind of similar,
- 31:03but he Steelers lost or did not have any power play one
- 31:06exposure. I think this is a little bit
- 31:07different and Mckenna's been kind of like in a slump for a
- 31:10long time. It feels, it feels pretty
- 31:14lopsided if you're, if you're talking like looking at the.
- 31:17Start. You said last year you would
- 31:19have gathered Ellers but you would have rather McCann.
- 31:23Yeah, sorry, I said you was. But I mean, but this year I feel
- 31:27like it's a lot closer years on that P1 has like really upped
- 31:31his game is giving him a whole new ceiling.
- 31:34But McCann kind of has that name value where we know he's like a
- 31:36reliable fantasy asset. And Ehlers has been notorious
- 31:38for being a little bit inconsistent.
- 31:40And I think that if his deployment sticks on PP1 and on
- 31:45line 2 or wherever, he's kind of jumping between line one, line
- 31:492, mostly line, line one, line 2.
- 31:51Sorry, I'm all over the place right now.
- 31:53You kind of threw me for a loop, but I did it for the listeners.
- 31:57Listeners, you made me. I was gonna swear again, so I'm
- 32:01not gonna do that. Alright?
- 32:04Anyways, what are you thinking? Let me gather my thoughts.
- 32:08OK, walk of work reboots. My AI capabilities have faltered
- 32:13me. Yeah, so, so where I'm at with
- 32:17this one is it's actually it says exactly as you said last
- 32:21year, McCann kinda would have been a no brainer for me, but
- 32:24Ellers has been a really good player throughout his whole
- 32:27career. Even even last season, you know,
- 32:30the discrepancy was only .78 points per game for McCann and
- 32:33.74 for Elers. Not that crazy.
- 32:36I'm very confident in choosing Elers for this one moving
- 32:39forward rest of the season. I still do think that McCann is
- 32:42a buy low but like you know, you could offer a lot less the
- 32:46kneelers to get him and if I had to choose one moving forward I'd
- 32:50I'd bet Kevin's house on the others.
- 32:53Wow, I bet your house on McCann. So no, I wouldn't.
- 33:00I wouldn't. Everyone loses.
- 33:02I wouldn't do that to you, but yeah, no, I think, I think this
- 33:05one is kind of one of the more easier choices that I made for
- 33:07the doctor this week. But yeah, I think either is
- 33:10probably the safest bet. Alright, last one before we wrap
- 33:13it up, Marty Natus versus Clayton Keller.
- 33:18OHS while that we're even having this conversation now because
- 33:23Once Upon A December, it was Marty Natches versus Kyle
- 33:29Connor, who to me is like a big step up from Keller.
- 33:33But I'm going to go with natures because we've seen the ceiling.
- 33:36We've seen what he can do. And although I mean this, he's
- 33:40clearly slowed down from what he was doing.
- 33:42I mean, he had no choice, Yeah. He couldn't go any higher.
- 33:45No, it was crazy. I mean, it's more of like, I
- 33:49mean, still doing OK, right As of.
- 33:51Late, Yeah, I mean the last, the last month has been his slowest
- 33:54month by far. And it's also coincided with
- 33:57with I was gonna say Arizona, but the Utah, the Utah's hottest
- 34:02month. I mean, if you just look at the
- 34:03power play discrepancy, Keller has .75 more power play points
- 34:11than Natures over the last month.
- 34:13Yeah, that's disgusting. That's like a whole extra player
- 34:16on your fantasy team, not even just counting power play points,
- 34:20right? So I think moving forward, this
- 34:22is kind of like a tough call, right?
- 34:23Because Nature started really hot.
- 34:25We know his ceiling, we know Caroline is one of the best
- 34:26teams, but we know Utah is one of the hottest teams right now.
- 34:31They're forms are producing an incredible rate has no choice
- 34:34but to slow down. At some point, just how much is
- 34:35it going to slow down and how much is nature is going to pick
- 34:37it back up. So you gotta you gotta choose
- 34:39your side. You gotta make a call.
- 34:40Yeah, and like, honestly, I'm looking at this further and of
- 34:43course this points have slowed down, but his back categories
- 34:46have been decent, you know, 2.43 shots, 1.14 hits.
- 34:49That's not comparable at all to to how great Keller has been.
- 34:54But I, I just, I mean, yeah, it's literally one point per
- 34:59game difference and the huge, huge power play point.
- 35:03Discrepancy note to note, I think the shots should be at the
- 35:06end of the day, when everything settles, I think they should be
- 35:09pretty even. But nature is getting an extra
- 35:12hit a game. So if you're in bangers league,
- 35:14that definitely makes a difference.
- 35:16And the power play should not be this lopsided, right?
- 35:18Like I think they're going to end up being kind of like
- 35:20similar on the power play. So kind of really just depends
- 35:23to me on how much more do you value that extra hit and if the
- 35:27hit is not relevant, what do you think the points are gonna be
- 35:29rest of the season? Yeah, well said.
- 35:33It's just a I mean, it's tough, right, that unfortunately the
- 35:36Hurricanes deployment is so all over the place.
- 35:39But I mean, he's he's the guy right now on on the 1st power
- 35:43play for them. So I'm going to go with natures.
- 35:47It's weird though, because I don't know if I would
- 35:49necessarily trade Keller to get natures in return, even though
- 35:52that's technically what I'm saying.
- 35:54But I think with how good Keller's been, maybe you could
- 35:56get an hours plus a little bit. That would be a nice Bylo sell
- 35:59high transaction. But yeah, if you had to tell me
- 36:02redraft right now, today, rest of the season, I would take
- 36:06natures higher than I would take Keller.
- 36:09Recall, I think for me, this is like the true like, what do you
- 36:14believe in? Like where, where, how do you
- 36:18how do you hold your opinion rest of the season?
- 36:19But I think I if I had to choose, I'd probably go nature.
- 36:22I'm just banking on Carolina being just an incredible team.
- 36:25The power play has been really bad with gossip spare out.
- 36:30Maybe Brent Burns the solution because Ty Smith, I don't know.
- 36:34But when Ghost comes back I expect the PowerPoint to be
- 36:37better again and rest of the season natures.
- 36:41Yeah, cool. Awesome.
- 36:42So that wraps up this week's Tidbits and Would You Rather
