- 1:02Speaker 2: What's up y'all? What's up? Brother?
- 1:04Speaker 1: Oh Man? Good to be here, man, of course, I
- 1:06Speaker 1: can't believe I'm here. I'm half fifteen hours from Australia.
- 1:09Speaker 2: You were in Australia.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Yeah, wow. I was only at home with my family
- 1:14Speaker 1: for like six hours. Man. Then I had to get
- 1:17Speaker 1: on the plane to come out here to shuit this video.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I don't say people understand because I had to go
- 1:21Speaker 2: to Thailand for Roland Love last year. That time difference
- 1:25Speaker 2: is the worst.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Australia is like a day ahead, right, you know what
- 1:29Speaker 1: I'm saying. So when I was going on stage, No,
- 1:33Speaker 1: when I was getting off stage, it was seven in
- 1:35Speaker 1: the morning. For you know, when my wife wakes up
- 1:38Speaker 1: for the kid, you know, so I would call her
- 1:41Speaker 1: like eleven o'clock at night. It's like seven o'clock in
- 1:43Speaker 1: the morning in casey right, man, it's.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Horrible, It's horrible. Congrats on the baby, by the way,
- 1:49Speaker 2: Thank you man.
- 1:50Speaker 1: New Life, Man, New Life.
- 1:51Speaker 2: You know what I love about your transparency through your
- 1:54Speaker 2: music over the years, You've always been extremely open about
- 2:00Speaker 2: open book. Yes, you're because with everything. There's a sacrifice,
- 2:05Speaker 2: and your older kids had to really like wear the
- 2:07Speaker 2: brunt of like you building this career. We see, yes,
- 2:11Speaker 2: you being on the road. Yes, the rain is one
- 2:15Speaker 2: of my favorite rest, sir. Yes, sir.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Now they're like thirty years old now.
- 2:19Speaker 2: You know, right, So for you to have a baby
- 2:22Speaker 2: like now, like it's almost like you're in a different space.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Yes, sir.
- 2:26Speaker 2: You know you're you're You're obviously a different person. You know,
- 2:29Speaker 2: we all should be evolving, you know.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, in my mid forties, I met I got
- 2:36Speaker 1: it on my last album. It's a song called I
- 2:38Speaker 1: Met a Morph. And what I realized is that that
- 2:41Speaker 1: morph that I met in my mid forties kind of late,
- 2:45Speaker 1: is maturity. You know what I'm saying. My maturity started,
- 2:49Speaker 1: you know, really making me pay attention, and I wanted
- 2:52Speaker 1: to start doing something different. I didn't want to start.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I don't want I don't want to continue to share
- 2:56Speaker 1: my energies, my bright energy and my Harnald energy with
- 3:01Speaker 1: multiple women anymore. You know what I'm saying. It's like,
- 3:04Speaker 1: you know, I've done it my whole life. Yea, and uh,
- 3:07Speaker 1: and then do nothing but bring me strife. You know
- 3:11Speaker 1: what I'm saying, or bring other people hurt.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Short term gratification yeah, man, is usually when you get
- 3:18Speaker 2: the short term gratification, it's at an expensive something else.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Man, you know what I'm saying. And I used
- 3:22Speaker 1: to call it therapy. I need to have my therapy,
- 3:24Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And that's just an ego thing.
- 3:27Speaker 1: And uh, in my mid forties, I wanted to uh
- 3:31Speaker 1: dial that back, you know. And I met my I
- 3:34Speaker 1: met my lady who is my wife now, right when
- 3:37Speaker 1: it was happening, you know. And she she she helped me.
- 3:45Speaker 1: She helped the transition, you know what I mean. She
- 3:48Speaker 1: helped the trans She helped me transition with the drinking.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I'm four years sober now. She did it with me.
- 3:53Speaker 1: When my doctor told me, if I keep drinking like
- 3:55Speaker 1: I do, mister Kraboloo, You're gonna your heart's gonna explode.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You're gonna you know what I'm saying. I'm like, Okay,
- 4:01Speaker 1: I quit, you know. So she said, I'll quit with
- 4:03Speaker 1: you because she knows, like, as a team, if one of.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Us, if one of you guys is doing it's going
- 4:08Speaker 2: to be it's almost impossible. Yeah.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so she she she helped me with that.
- 4:13Speaker 1: She helped me with a lot of things in my
- 4:14Speaker 1: life that I didn't know was out of whack, you
- 4:17Speaker 1: know what I mean. And uh, we're we're evolving every day, man,
- 4:21Speaker 1: you know what I mean, every second. And you know
- 4:24Speaker 1: that's what Kanye said, I always find it. I always
- 4:26Speaker 1: find something wrong. That's that's that's the part of evolving.
- 4:29Speaker 1: It's part of life, you know what I'm saying. And uh,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I figured and we we've been together, this is going
- 4:36Speaker 1: on eleven years now, you know what I'm saying. So
- 4:38Speaker 1: we got married in our tenth year, you know what
- 4:39Speaker 1: I mean, last last June.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I've made my wife a couple of times. Man. Yeah,
- 4:44Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 4:44Speaker 1: So we actually lived with each other for a while.
- 4:47Speaker 1: And that's how I feel like people should do it.
- 4:49Speaker 1: A lot of people, they say, wise man, say only
- 4:51Speaker 1: foods jump in you know what I'm saying. But I
- 4:53Speaker 1: can't help fall in love with you that A lot
- 4:55Speaker 1: of people just jump into it and get married immediately
- 4:57Speaker 1: before they learn different chemic levels about each other and
- 5:01Speaker 1: you know things that Yeah, when.
- 5:02Speaker 2: You live with someone, yeah, you have to kind of
- 5:06Speaker 2: like you almost have to get to the point of
- 5:09Speaker 2: like seeing each other at your lowest, Yes, so you
- 5:13Speaker 2: can have that like understand that person on another level.
- 5:17Speaker 2: So when you do get married, it's like, Okay, now
- 5:19Speaker 2: that we've seen each other at our absolute lowest, or
- 5:21Speaker 2: we know what each other's faults are, we know how
- 5:23Speaker 2: to deal with each other, we know how to deal
- 5:24Speaker 2: with certain arguments, certain exactly.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I think people should take time to do that, and
- 5:28Speaker 1: that's what we did. We took ten years now, not
- 5:30Speaker 1: saying that she wasn't worthy of marriage in the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth,
- 5:35Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, because she was, you know
- 5:36Speaker 1: what I mean. But we have to go through ups
- 5:38Speaker 1: and downs, and we indeed had ups and downs, you
- 5:40Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, financially and everything with the irs.
- 5:43Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. She had to go through
- 5:44Speaker 1: that with everything, you know, give away my millions and
- 5:46Speaker 1: get millions back. You know what I'm saying. That was
- 5:48Speaker 1: a flex you know what I mean. But I think
- 5:50Speaker 1: people need to go through those type things with each
- 5:53Speaker 1: other before they actually get married, because people actually have
- 5:57Speaker 1: problems when they jump in. Not everybody, though, I'm saying,
- 6:00Speaker 1: I'm not just generalizing. You know, when I say that,
- 6:04Speaker 1: I think people should take time. And that's what we did. Man,
- 6:07Speaker 1: we took time. We took ten years, and we tied
- 6:11Speaker 1: the knot in ten years. I felt like we had
- 6:15Speaker 1: been through everything possible, right, you know what I mean?
- 6:20Speaker 1: And uh, I'm glad we did it. We're best friends.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And with that being said, I said, I want to
- 6:27Speaker 1: have I want to be connected to that woman. So
- 6:30Speaker 1: we had Alena.
- 6:31Speaker 2: I love this too, now you know, yeah, man, that's
- 6:34Speaker 2: big bro. Yeah. So it's so crazy too, because, like
- 6:37Speaker 2: I said, with your transparency, like you've for people who
- 6:40Speaker 2: because I feel like a lot of generic hip hop fans,
- 6:43Speaker 2: I feel like twenty twelve twenty I feel like all
- 6:46Speaker 2: sixes and sevens was a lot of like people's like
- 6:49Speaker 2: general introduction to what you had going on for so
- 6:52Speaker 2: many years, right right right, right right right, Because that's
- 6:56Speaker 2: like when the Wayne Coat sign happens and you're doing
- 6:58Speaker 2: records with Tea Pain.
- 6:59Speaker 1: And yeah, he'll be crazy, he'll go crazy all that, but.
- 7:03Speaker 2: You know you have had such a crazy like like
- 7:06Speaker 2: like that Caraboolu is double platinum by now it's platinum,
- 7:10Speaker 2: should be I know it's platinum, but like you know,
- 7:12Speaker 2: you also like like you're in your heyday, you're known
- 7:15Speaker 2: for being like a crazy motherfucker. Yeah, like you've never
- 7:19Speaker 2: you know obviously, Eba. Is it ties into that, like.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. I hung my uh player jersey
- 7:31Speaker 1: up like tapestry like eleven years ago. You know what
- 7:34Speaker 1: I'm saying. And uh, I'm glad I did. Man saved
- 7:37Speaker 1: my life because my brother Maxilla was actually writing a
- 7:41Speaker 1: movie about me called Georgie. We had this We've been
- 7:44Speaker 1: working on this movie about Tech ninees called Georgie. You know,
- 7:47Speaker 1: the Georgie Porgie pudding Pie story. Kissed the girls and
- 7:50Speaker 1: make him cry. That was me, you know what I mean?
- 7:52Speaker 1: And uh, I told him at the end of it,
- 7:56Speaker 1: a lady has to kill me. He said, I'm not
- 7:58Speaker 1: writing that. I'm not writing that. I'm putting it in
- 8:00Speaker 1: the universe.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I'm like, that's that's damn near the only way that
- 8:03Speaker 2: could end.
- 8:04Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. You play the game of hearts,
- 8:05Speaker 1: you know, usually the the the punishment is death, you
- 8:09Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, punishment by death. So I said,
- 8:11Speaker 1: you have to kill Georgie by a lady. You know
- 8:14Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Lady, you have to do it. He
- 8:16Speaker 1: just stopped. We don't even write it no more. You
- 8:17Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. He stopped. He's like, I'm not
- 8:19Speaker 1: writing that, man. You gotta come up with an alternate, uh, ending,
- 8:22Speaker 1: you know what I mean. But uh I, I I
- 8:27Speaker 1: felt like that I had to stop that before that
- 8:30Speaker 1: came to pass, you know what I'm saying.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Because it was it could have been an inevitable thing
- 8:34Speaker 2: for sure, even if it was even if it wasn't
- 8:36Speaker 2: necessarily like actual death, but a form of like something
- 8:40Speaker 2: like damn, like I don't.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah, like herpes or something that's good, you know what
- 8:45Speaker 1: I'm saying, Because if I happened to get herpes when
- 8:48Speaker 1: I was in the field, I would not be here now,
- 8:50Speaker 1: you know. I sure, because if I can't have my Dick,
- 8:53Speaker 1: I can't have no no, no, So sorry, right.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Sometimes I just talk this is I feel like you've
- 8:59Speaker 2: had one of the most And when we talk about longevity,
- 9:03Speaker 2: when we talk about errors of your career, what year
- 9:09Speaker 2: is this so far in terms of let's say album
- 9:14Speaker 2: one to now, So.
- 9:16Speaker 1: What do you mean what year?
- 9:17Speaker 2: What year in your career are we in? I know,
- 9:19Speaker 2: I know, like you know, if we go back to
- 9:20Speaker 2: the sway days.
- 9:21Speaker 1: And so for me for strange music is twenty five years. Okay,
- 9:27Speaker 1: for Tech nine is forty years because nineteen eighty five,
- 9:31Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying is when I started, you
- 9:33Speaker 1: know what I mean, this, that and the other not
- 9:35Speaker 1: professionally bright like in hip hop period, you know what
- 9:37Speaker 1: I mean. It was forty years of my life and
- 9:41Speaker 1: year forty that's crazy. Twenty five years for strange music.
- 9:45Speaker 2: That's God's crazy.
- 9:47Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Because even before Strange, it was what was the.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Was with Westside?
- 9:54Speaker 2: No I'm thinking was it was like was Angelic was
- 9:57Speaker 2: on Strange? Right?
- 9:57Speaker 1: Yeah? Angelic? What was Strange? You know what I'm saying.
- 10:00Speaker 1: The common before the storm was midwest Side and you
- 10:03Speaker 1: know then you know with midwest Side, I got signed
- 10:07Speaker 1: with Quincy Jones, you know what I'm saying in ninety seven,
- 10:11Speaker 1: you know what I mean? So, uh, you know those
- 10:13Speaker 1: records never came out though. Yeah, so my first record
- 10:16Speaker 1: to come out, well major album to come out, was Angelic,
- 10:20Speaker 1: but midwest Side was the first label in Kansas City
- 10:24Speaker 1: with Diamond and Don Juan that put out the com
- 10:26Speaker 1: before the Storm, The Worst, the Worst two k stuff
- 10:30Speaker 1: like that and Celsius.
- 10:31Speaker 2: It's so crazy to think that that's how long it's been, bro,
- 10:33Speaker 2: because I remember first finding your shit, Like my cousin
- 10:36Speaker 2: Austin put me onto your shit. Yeah, what was what
- 10:42Speaker 2: was the song that they were working the radio off, Angelic.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Angela, It's Alive.
- 10:47Speaker 2: It's yeah, you know what I'm saying. It's crazy too, man,
- 10:50Speaker 2: because like you've survived so many different like waves of music,
- 10:55Speaker 2: like yeah, and even just like your own shit, like
- 10:58Speaker 2: I was. I think it was a twenty eighteen or
- 11:01Speaker 2: nineteen was the first time I had ever seen you
- 11:06Speaker 2: on stage without Chris Calico. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah,
- 11:11Speaker 2: and it And I know this sounds crazy because I'm
- 11:14Speaker 2: you know, going all the way back to the Unholy
- 11:16Speaker 2: Trinity with you, him and cut was crazy, crazy times.
- 11:19Speaker 2: But the way that you were able to figure out
- 11:23Speaker 2: a way to like you, I think you were it
- 11:25Speaker 2: was the Gangster, the King and the clown. Listen. That
- 11:31Speaker 2: tour was fucking insane.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Though it makes me feel good, you know.
- 11:36Speaker 2: It was so good. And like my wife is like
- 11:39Speaker 2: not a Tech nine fan, she's not a hip hop family.
- 11:41Speaker 2: She just went along, you know, and she's like, Yo,
- 11:43Speaker 2: this was this is cool.
- 11:45Speaker 1: But like you don't have to you don't have to
- 11:47Speaker 1: know tech nize music to enjoy the music or the show,
- 11:50Speaker 1: you know.
- 11:50Speaker 2: The live show for sure. Yeah yeah, but like, man,
- 11:53Speaker 2: there's been so many different eras of like, you know,
- 11:56Speaker 2: the live show. I mean, yeah, how do you feel
- 12:00Speaker 2: like obviously you're fifty, you're uh, you're freshly married, you
- 12:03Speaker 2: got a two year fifty What what am I? You're
- 12:07Speaker 2: over fifty?
- 12:07Speaker 1: Right?
- 12:07Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah, well I don't want.
- 12:09Speaker 1: To Yeah, I don't give a fuck about that. Yeah yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 1: I'll be fifty four this year.
- 12:13Speaker 2: And no, remember, well how long how long do you
- 12:15Speaker 2: plan on doing the touring thing?
- 12:17Speaker 1: They still want to hear technico man, every everywhere. I
- 12:19Speaker 1: just did seven shows out there down under Man and uh,
- 12:24Speaker 1: the fans even in the US man, even in the
- 12:26Speaker 1: states Man they are they're getting younger.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Because how many years straight? Have you toured? Every single
- 12:32Speaker 2: year for twenty five?
- 12:34Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure, you know what I mean?
- 12:37Speaker 1: And uh, even me and the Rogue Dog Villains, our
- 12:39Speaker 1: DVS was touring, you know what I'm saying. Not like
- 12:42Speaker 1: trib didn't put together tours, but we did tours you know,
- 12:46Speaker 1: in the area. You know what I mean, but uh uh,
- 12:51Speaker 1: I feel like that the fans are not gonna let
- 12:55Speaker 1: me stop. I mean, do they ask They don't. They
- 12:59Speaker 1: don't ask Mick Jagger that you know, say, they don't ask.
- 13:01Speaker 2: No, for sure, the rolling students are still know what
- 13:03Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 13:03Speaker 1: They don't, they don't.
- 13:04Speaker 2: But I'm just thinking like that. You just it's like
- 13:07Speaker 2: so much a part of your lifestyle right to where
- 13:10Speaker 2: like you damn near spent more time on the road
- 13:13Speaker 2: than you have maybe in your own home at this
- 13:15Speaker 2: in the last.
- 13:15Speaker 1: In the last couple of years, man, I've been we've
- 13:17Speaker 1: been doing less.
- 13:18Speaker 2: No.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I've noticed that I went on tour with falling Reversals
- 13:21Speaker 1: only like twenty two.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Days, right, which is different for you because you're just
- 13:24Speaker 2: like fifty eight, sixty seventy, you know what I'm saying.
- 13:27Speaker 1: So we've been kind of dialing it back and just
- 13:30Speaker 1: doing festivals. You know, I haven't I don't remember my
- 13:33Speaker 1: last Tech nine tour. Maybe maybe you know.
- 13:36Speaker 2: It's probably twenty twenty two.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Maybe yeah, maybe maybe maybe you know what I'm saying.
- 13:41Speaker 1: But the fans are getting younger every show that I do. Now,
- 13:46Speaker 1: I said, I got to know one thing first though,
- 13:50Speaker 1: how many of you. That's your first Tech nine show.
- 13:51Speaker 1: The whole fucking place go up. As three thousand people there,
- 13:54Speaker 1: the whole people, the whole place goes up.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I'm likely they'll be able to do that.
- 13:59Speaker 1: So I come to the realization that, uh, they're not
- 14:03Speaker 1: gonna let me stop now. Me and Travis talked about
- 14:05Speaker 1: last year. We said five more years, and when we
- 14:08Speaker 1: get to that five, if we still want to go,
- 14:09Speaker 1: we will. So it's four now, you know what I'm saying.
- 14:12Speaker 1: So we don't know. You know what I'm saying, We
- 14:14Speaker 1: don't know. All I'm saying is that the RDV video
- 14:18Speaker 1: ran up like crazy already. You know what I'm saying.
- 14:20Speaker 1: It's almost at two million, you know what I mean.
- 14:21Speaker 1: And people still want to hear Tech nine. Man, they
- 14:25Speaker 1: still calling for me. I'm about to go on another
- 14:26Speaker 1: tour now and day after tomorrow with Hollywood and Dead
- 14:31Speaker 1: We're gonna we're gonna continue the Hollywood nine tour that
- 14:34Speaker 1: the places we didn't hit on the first one, right,
- 14:36Speaker 1: and now we're gonna go all the way over to
- 14:38Speaker 1: Canada and give it to them as well, you know
- 14:39Speaker 1: what I mean. So it's gonna be more young people
- 14:43Speaker 1: that want to see Tech nine.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Man, do you remember because when I say you're the
- 14:48Speaker 2: greatest hip hop live before, in my opinion, you're my favorite.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I've probably seen you in concert like fifty times at
- 14:54Speaker 2: this point, but uh, I think you're the goat on stage.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Do you remember when you really felt like you had
- 15:03Speaker 2: dialed in that element of what you do? Because I
- 15:06Speaker 2: remember the first time I ever saw you in concert
- 15:09Speaker 2: was probably in eighth seven or eight. It was on
- 15:13Speaker 2: the Bone cotton Mouth King Shit or was it? No?
- 15:17Speaker 2: It was was it Bone Bone ICP cotton Mouth Kings
- 15:21Speaker 2: three damn walka to her? Yes, So I saw you
- 15:25Speaker 2: then and that was super early. But I think the
- 15:29Speaker 2: first time I saw you like headlining some ship was
- 15:31Speaker 2: probably like seven eight. Yeah, but but so much like
- 15:36Speaker 2: there's so much to your live show and it's evolved
- 15:38Speaker 2: over the years, But do you remember kind of like
- 15:42Speaker 2: you gain fans just because they saw you and they
- 15:44Speaker 2: were like, Yo, this is crazy. I gotta go to
- 15:47Speaker 2: the music, Like when did you have that dialed in?
- 15:49Speaker 2: Like all the way you feel like me?
- 15:52Speaker 1: Cut Grant and Chris and Travis we would rent out
- 15:59Speaker 1: a conservatory or something and we'll go over steps for
- 16:03Speaker 1: Angelic you know what I'm saying. Before we went on tour,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I knew back then, Bro, you know what I'm saying
- 16:09Speaker 1: that we was locked in and we was doing stuff
- 16:10Speaker 1: that people wasn't doing on stage. I knew back then
- 16:13Speaker 1: that us as a team in uniform, not just in
- 16:19Speaker 1: play clothes, signifies togetherness. So that's saying like, Okay, if
- 16:26Speaker 1: he's dressed like him, that means if I fuck with him,
- 16:28Speaker 1: I gotta fuck with him. Him him him, you know
- 16:30Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So I learned that from soldiers, you
- 16:32Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So I knew back then early
- 16:35Speaker 1: on that we were locked in. You know what I mean,
- 16:39Speaker 1: who got this motherfucking household lot? If you got speak?
- 16:43Speaker 1: You know the little dance we do, you know what
- 16:44Speaker 1: I'm saying. I still do it to this day, you know.
- 16:47Speaker 1: So it's like, uh, I knew it at the beginning
- 16:51Speaker 1: when we were doing it. The steps that is that
- 16:57Speaker 1: we were doing something that we had never seen. Because
- 17:01Speaker 1: I started dancing before hip hop.
- 17:03Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I was I was like like MC hammer style, you know,
- 17:07Speaker 1: I was a big boy bring dancing poplock and you
- 17:09Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, All that so I brought that
- 17:11Speaker 1: to Tech nine, you know what I mean, And throughout
- 17:14Speaker 1: the years, if it's something we didn't rehearse at the
- 17:18Speaker 1: Ballet Conservatory, if I started doing a step that was extra,
- 17:23Speaker 1: they would join in. Or if Chris started doing a
- 17:25Speaker 1: step that was extra, we do it over Cut said, man,
- 17:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna do the B walk on this. I would
- 17:29Speaker 1: join in, you know what I'm saying, to do it
- 17:30Speaker 1: with him, you know. So we would add stuff throughout
- 17:32Speaker 1: the years, you know what I mean. So it's it's
- 17:36Speaker 1: just a magical thing. So now before okay, I'm gonna
- 17:43Speaker 1: talk about this, twenty twenty COVID hits correct. Chris Calico say,
- 17:51Speaker 1: you know, we got a we got a jelly Roll
- 17:54Speaker 1: tour on the horizon, you know what I'm saying.
- 17:56Speaker 2: And jelly Roll was with Strange, Yeah, said he was.
- 18:00Speaker 1: He had signed to our distribution.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Was that around the time you guys did the Red
- 18:06Speaker 2: Rocks and there was like the big I think Chris
- 18:08Speaker 2: came out at Red Rocks.
- 18:09Speaker 1: That was like that was like twenty nineteen, yeah, yep, yeah,
- 18:12Speaker 1: so that was like the last hurrah. Yeah, because Chris
- 18:15Speaker 1: was talking about leaving then and then he came out
- 18:17Speaker 1: like boom, and the fans like, holy yeah, he's staying.
- 18:20Speaker 1: He's gonna Yeah, he said, he's gonna do some more
- 18:23Speaker 1: years with us, you know what I'm saying. Because he
- 18:24Speaker 1: was thinking about going on and doing his own label,
- 18:27Speaker 1: this and the other, you know what I'm saying. So
- 18:28Speaker 1: he came out of Red Rocks twenty nineteen. Yeah, boom boom,
- 18:31Speaker 1: boom boom. It was a big thing, you know. And uh,
- 18:34Speaker 1: twenty twenty came, and then that tour got canceled, the
- 18:37Speaker 1: Jelly Roll Tour with Take nine, you know, and before
- 18:40Speaker 1: we went on at Chris Calico said, Yo, teg, I
- 18:44Speaker 1: can't go for this price no more. You know what
- 18:45Speaker 1: I'm saying. I gotta have more of I'm gonna go.
- 18:48Speaker 1: And I said, let me see what I can do.
- 18:51Speaker 1: So I said, you know, I called in the Travis.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I'm like, if you can get him two more hunted,
- 18:57Speaker 1: I think he'll be good. You know what I mean
- 18:59Speaker 1: that I'll put him at a you know, a nice
- 19:01Speaker 1: place you know, and travels like tech. Because the tour
- 19:06Speaker 1: got canceled and now we were trying to go on
- 19:08Speaker 1: tour after that, we're getting reductions. You know what I'm saying, because.
- 19:12Speaker 2: People don't go down because they.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Don't know if people are going to come. So that's
- 19:16Speaker 1: what the promoters were using against us, like we don't
- 19:19Speaker 1: know what you're going to do, you know what I'm saying.
- 19:21Speaker 1: So paying somebody extra money when we're getting reduction would
- 19:25Speaker 1: be like shooting, yeah, counter productive to shooting myself in
- 19:28Speaker 1: the foot. So travel like at this point I would
- 19:32Speaker 1: I wouldn't do this, but I would ask Chris if
- 19:34Speaker 1: we can reduce his pay, you know what I'm saying.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And I'm not going to do that, right, No, he's
- 19:39Speaker 1: not going to do that, you know what I mean.
- 19:41Speaker 1: So I had to call Chris and say that to him.
- 19:44Speaker 1: He's like, I can't go there TECH and I'm like damn.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I'm like okay. I was like, maybe this this just
- 19:51Speaker 1: this last one. I'm trying to keep him held on.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Maybe just this last one, you know what I'm saying.
- 19:55Speaker 1: He's like, no, man, I gotta you know, and you know,
- 19:58Speaker 1: during COVID, you know you have to find way to
- 20:00Speaker 1: take care of your family. He found ways, you know
- 20:02Speaker 1: what I mean, And to let him see that he
- 20:04Speaker 1: could do his own. So when he came to me
- 20:06Speaker 1: and said, I want to leave, but I want to
- 20:10Speaker 1: let the fans know that we're still connected and ain't
- 20:13Speaker 1: bad blood or nothing, because it's not you know what
- 20:14Speaker 1: I'm saying. So we created this live stream. We were
- 20:18Speaker 1: doing live streams during.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you guys are doing like the concert shit us.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Yeah, because we couldn't tour yea, so we were we
- 20:24Speaker 1: were doing live streams.
- 20:25Speaker 2: We can.
- 20:25Speaker 1: You know, we always survived strange music. We're gonna find
- 20:27Speaker 1: a way, you know what I mean. So Chris said,
- 20:30Speaker 1: let's do a farewell one for me, you know what
- 20:32Speaker 1: I'm saying, and introduce my new label, Earhouse, And we
- 20:36Speaker 1: did that, you know what I mean. So I'm happy
- 20:41Speaker 1: doing this for Chris. But on the inside, I ain't
- 20:43Speaker 1: never said this. On the inside, I'm like, damn IA
- 20:45Speaker 1: need my brother man right up there, man, my guys,
- 20:49Speaker 1: because I had to think back to where when I started,
- 20:52Speaker 1: I was by myself, but not really when I when
- 20:55Speaker 1: I got with Travis, I brought Grant and Cut and
- 20:58Speaker 1: Chris came in last. You know what I'm saying.
- 21:00Speaker 2: For sure, I mean, your guys is dynamic on stage.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Yeah we grab a bottle, yeah yeah, yeah no, but
- 21:05Speaker 2: your guys dynamic on stage is it's historical.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Yeah, So with me remembering that, I came in with
- 21:13Speaker 1: full motherfucker right, thank you. I was kind of leery
- 21:18Speaker 1: about what I would do by myself. I ain't never
- 21:21Speaker 1: said that because I'm a king, I can you know
- 21:23Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So in my in my heart, I'm like, man,
- 21:30Speaker 1: what am I gonna do without my backup? But once
- 21:38Speaker 1: I start rehearsing by myself, I'm like, Damn, I got
- 21:42Speaker 1: all this wind myself. You know what I'm saying. I've
- 21:45Speaker 1: always done uh breathing exercises throughout my career that will
- 21:49Speaker 1: allow me say a whole four bars without breathing. You
- 21:51Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. You know what I'm saying for
- 21:58Speaker 1: a whole four bars. So I had to remember that
- 22:00Speaker 1: and when I started, when I did my first show
- 22:04Speaker 1: by myself and I rocked it, that gave me the
- 22:09Speaker 1: confidence because I was worried. I was worried.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't know it. I didn't know what to expect.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Yeah, nobody did. It's not the same without Chris. I
- 22:17Speaker 1: know it's not the same, but it's fucking.
- 22:20Speaker 2: The way you guys had those led walls and ship
- 22:22Speaker 2: and the way that like the whole like you're doing
- 22:24Speaker 2: the outfit changes. It also probably gave you time to
- 22:27Speaker 2: breathe a little, you know, reset it did Chris.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Chris being there gave Chris can cut them being there
- 22:33Speaker 1: gave me a lot of breathing time.
- 22:35Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I don't have that no more. So now I say,
- 22:38Speaker 1: I'm getting my DMX on. You know what I'm saying, resting,
- 22:43Speaker 1: May God rest the soul. I'm getting my Kendrick on.
- 22:46Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I'm getting my jay z on.
- 22:49Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. So I realized after a
- 22:53Speaker 1: first couple of the first couple of shows that I
- 22:55Speaker 1: got this ship. You know what I'm saying. And you
- 22:57Speaker 1: know it would I would love for Chris to return,
- 23:03Speaker 1: but I got.
- 23:04Speaker 2: It, you know Yeah, I think I think before it's
- 23:08Speaker 2: all said and done, man, the Unholy Trinity's got to
- 23:10Speaker 2: get back together for one one more fucking Hurrah dog,
- 23:15Speaker 2: even if it's one show, even if it's like a
- 23:17Speaker 2: single show in casey or something like that.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I will never say never, but I'm saying, maybe you'll
- 23:23Speaker 1: get the duo.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Yeah, you and Chris is definitely on the table.
- 23:26Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, maybe you'll get the duo
- 23:29Speaker 1: TRAVI and Cuddy ain't gonna never see how to eye.
- 23:32Speaker 2: That's fair, you know what I'm saying.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Some things were said that I can't even fix because
- 23:37Speaker 1: you know, me and some of the people that strained
- 23:40Speaker 1: when we were doing COSM, we's for sure, you know,
- 23:43Speaker 1: we had we had we had uh talks with Travis
- 23:47Speaker 1: about Cuddy and he was like, man, He's like, so
- 23:52Speaker 1: you think the fans want to hear Cuddy and everybody
- 23:54Speaker 1: in the office like, yes, you know what I'm saying.
- 23:56Speaker 1: And Travis was like, I ain't got no problem, man,
- 23:59Speaker 1: I just I just don't feel I don't feel complete,
- 24:01Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying with that part. You know
- 24:03Speaker 1: what I'm saying, the misunderstanding they had, you know what
- 24:05Speaker 1: I'm saying, And I gotta I gotta feel that, you
- 24:08Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, And as men, I gotta feel.
- 24:10Speaker 1: You know, I can't that it wasn't petty for trap
- 24:13Speaker 1: or nothing like that. I don't think it's petty. I
- 24:15Speaker 1: just think that it never got resolved. You know. It
- 24:18Speaker 1: was something that brought Trav's wife into it. You know
- 24:20Speaker 1: what I'm saying, and.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like once you cross certain you know, yeah,
- 24:24Speaker 2: you know like.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I've never seen when Kanye said this about jay Z's
- 24:29Speaker 1: kids or whatever. But after you cross that, it's.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Hard to walk back that. You get like, I'm fair
- 24:35Speaker 2: game ship.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Yeah, when you're talking about some family.
- 24:40Speaker 2: It's like it's just hard to you know, it's.
- 24:42Speaker 1: You know, I don't know if you'll ever be able
- 24:44Speaker 1: to come back to that, you know what I mean.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I think luckily nobody else on the label I've done
- 24:51Speaker 1: anything like that. You know what I'm saying.
- 24:52Speaker 2: And you know, I.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Remember I remember talking to Cuddy about it, you know,
- 25:00Speaker 1: and he's like, oh, we're talking about him. You know.
- 25:02Speaker 1: But you know, if you say on a song, that's
- 25:05Speaker 1: why I fucked Joe, bitch, you fat motherfucker, Like pup,
- 25:10Speaker 1: you can't say that in the circle you're in. You
- 25:12Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. When when you're breaking up, you
- 25:15Speaker 1: know what I'm saying with the group.
- 25:16Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. You know what I'm saying.
- 25:18Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, it's like I know, like, you know,
- 25:21Speaker 1: our good friend just bad taste, you know, bad timing.
- 25:24Speaker 2: You know, I know that we have a mutual friend
- 25:26Speaker 2: who's a psycho or boy ritz, I know, like he
- 25:29Speaker 2: had hit had his Uh it wasn't that bad, but
- 25:31Speaker 2: it wasn't anything you couldn't come back from.
- 25:33Speaker 1: No, because he's on Cosm right.
- 25:35Speaker 2: And and like and like and like you know because
- 25:39Speaker 2: like like again, it wasn't ever anything like and then
- 25:42Speaker 2: he could always be like I was drunk man, Yeah, yeah,
- 25:46Speaker 2: And if you've been on tour with Rich you're like,
- 25:48Speaker 2: you know, this motherfucker's a psycho, right, Like.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Well, you know, when people lose something. I'm not generalizing,
- 25:57Speaker 1: but uh, some people, what I've learned over the years,
- 26:02Speaker 1: they deflect and it's always the label's.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Fault instead of looking in the mirror.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, you know what I mean, and that and
- 26:10Speaker 1: that's what some people do. I don't remember none of
- 26:14Speaker 1: the ship, you know what I mean? And trap, like,
- 26:17Speaker 1: how don't you remember the ship that people have done
- 26:19Speaker 1: to us? I'm like, I don't know, but I know
- 26:22Speaker 1: that the music is first and foremost, you know, for sure,
- 26:24Speaker 1: And we did Cosm and everybody came back, almost everybody,
- 26:28Speaker 1: Chris Kellicole almost made it. But we're trying to get
- 26:30Speaker 1: some We're trying to get some some back business done
- 26:33Speaker 1: before we go forward.
- 26:34Speaker 2: You know who else on the new album? Me?
- 26:39Speaker 1: Because this album fifty eight sixteen Forrest is coming out
- 26:43Speaker 1: this summer. When black first came to me, it's like, man,
- 26:47Speaker 1: you need to do an album.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Is that your bar code number? What?
- 26:52Speaker 1: No?
- 26:52Speaker 2: No, no, okay, you have your bar code number.
- 26:55Speaker 1: That's six six triple a FO that's in that house.
- 26:57Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 26:58Speaker 1: That's something else, you know to shit. When Blackwall first
- 27:02Speaker 1: came to me, he said, man, people want to hear you.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Do you without no collaborations? I said, that's boring as fuck.
- 27:11Speaker 1: You know, my whole career, I'm always collabed. You know
- 27:12Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 27:13Speaker 2: I mean, you got Tech nine collab as its own
- 27:15Speaker 2: artist page.
- 27:15Speaker 1: I do, I do, I do. But you know, even
- 27:17Speaker 1: in my on my albums, I got major collapse of course,
- 27:20Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So he telling me that
- 27:23Speaker 1: people want to hear you, and I'm like, that's boring.
- 27:27Speaker 1: I went to travel. I said, listen, black Wall, he
- 27:30Speaker 1: just got out. He's been locked up fifteen years. He's
- 27:33Speaker 1: the guy that gave me my Tech nine name in
- 27:35Speaker 1: eighty eight. You know, And uh, I said, black Wall
- 27:39Speaker 1: said that people want to hear me on the verses,
- 27:42Speaker 1: that's it, and uh I said, I think that's boring
- 27:46Speaker 1: as fuck, and Trav said, he's.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Right, because you've never given given one of those.
- 27:52Speaker 1: So my idea was to do an album called fifty
- 27:55Speaker 1: eight sixteen Forests where I moved there when I was
- 27:59Speaker 1: twelve to seven. So as I got into the writing
- 28:03Speaker 1: of it, you know, me writing all the verses, maybe
- 28:06Speaker 1: have you know a few hooks done by some major
- 28:08Speaker 1: artists or something that's about it, you know what I mean.
- 28:11Speaker 1: But I got into a couple of songs and I'm like,
- 28:15Speaker 1: this is beautiful. So it turns out to be an
- 28:19Speaker 1: audio series with seventeen episodes of my life on fifty
- 28:23Speaker 1: eight sixteen fours from age twelve to age seventeen, when
- 28:27Speaker 1: I ran away from home to become Tech nine, you
- 28:30Speaker 1: know I'm saying, on the quest to become Tech nine,
- 28:32Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So it's in chronological order.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Only one producer from Kansas City's name is Jaypeas. You
- 28:39Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. I've never done that one producer.
- 28:41Speaker 1: He had all seventeen tracks, you know what I mean.
- 28:44Speaker 1: And this is the album where I don't have any features,
- 28:48Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And you know a lot
- 28:51Speaker 1: of fans been asking for that for a long time.
- 28:53Speaker 1: You know, Trav' already always been in my ear about it.
- 28:56Speaker 1: But this is the moment when it made sense to me,
- 28:59Speaker 1: because why how can I have anybody on these verses
- 29:04Speaker 1: when I'm telling my story?
- 29:06Speaker 2: Yeah, And like, if you really think about some of
- 29:08Speaker 2: your I mean not maybe not like radio songs, but
- 29:10Speaker 2: like your biggest songs for real, like that the fans love,
- 29:13Speaker 2: they're mostly all you by yourself. If you think about
- 29:16Speaker 2: like your technicians and ship you know, Einstein, you.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Know what I'm saying.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Oh yeah, eas even the word shit on kod is
- 29:27Speaker 2: you by yourself? Like that's crazy, Like, yeah, it's probably
- 29:31Speaker 2: my favorite tech song ever.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Crazy, that's crazy. I never thought of it like that
- 29:35Speaker 1: mental giant, mettal giant. Holy shit, now that one.
- 29:41Speaker 2: It's hard.
- 29:42Speaker 1: That it's hard. We was tripping on that in Australia
- 29:44Speaker 1: because we would sound check my, my, my, my sound guys.
- 29:48Speaker 1: They would sound check with that song, you know what
- 29:50Speaker 1: I mean? For me and I'll be in there and
- 29:53Speaker 1: you know, seven on the what possessed him that night
- 29:57Speaker 1: to do that song? But holy ship, man, you know
- 30:00Speaker 1: what I'm saying. It's hip hop at its finest for sure,
- 30:02Speaker 1: but all those songs being by myself. Like you said,
- 30:07Speaker 1: this is the album where I tell my story with
- 30:11Speaker 1: only a few major collaborations on the hooks.
- 30:14Speaker 2: So there's some hooks stuff.
- 30:16Speaker 1: There's some hook stuff, you know what I'm saying, you know,
- 30:18Speaker 1: here and there, But that's about it. But it's special, man,
- 30:23Speaker 1: it's special and audio series with seventeen episodes about my life.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Anybody's really done that.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I've never heard it. Yeah, But the last song on
- 30:32Speaker 1: the album, you know how strange music albums and strange music,
- 30:36Speaker 1: there's a song after the strange music called JA six
- 30:40Speaker 1: is about my lucky Jay sixes in ninety one, how
- 30:44Speaker 1: I could afford to get some Georgian Jordan six black
- 30:48Speaker 1: infrared color ways. You know what I'm saying. That song
- 30:51Speaker 1: is after the tag, and it's a humongous one too,
- 30:54Speaker 1: because it happens what happened was after I ran away,
- 30:57Speaker 1: two years after that Jay six has occurred, you know
- 31:00Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And so after the tag, there's a
- 31:03Speaker 1: song that happened that's some shit that happened two years
- 31:05Speaker 1: after I ran away, and I put Jay six. I
- 31:08Speaker 1: put it there like that in case I wanted to
- 31:10Speaker 1: keep going, right, just in case I don't know if
- 31:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna keep going, you know what I'm saying with
- 31:14Speaker 1: the story.
- 31:14Speaker 2: But in case, yeah, I mean, because you could always
- 31:17Speaker 2: do it. I mean, if you get inspired to do so,
- 31:19Speaker 2: you could always do another album, a continuation of yeah.
- 31:23Speaker 1: From me from becoming Technine. I can do it, but
- 31:26Speaker 1: I don't want to bore people. But this one is special.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Our DV just coming out, you know, a few days ago,
- 31:36Speaker 1: while like last week, you know, let everybody know that, Okay,
- 31:40Speaker 1: this is gonna be some tech nine nineties kind of
- 31:43Speaker 1: field beats and everything. You know what I'm saying, It's
- 31:46Speaker 1: going all the way back to the beginning. JPZ did
- 31:49Speaker 1: a stand up job with making the beats current but
- 31:53Speaker 1: still with that feel of Rogue Dogs and Mitch Baide
- 31:58Speaker 1: and all that kind of hcladiog stroll feel that Don
- 32:01Speaker 1: Juan did early on. You know what I mean, what.
- 32:05Speaker 2: You You've had the pleasure to change a lot of
- 32:08Speaker 2: artist lives that aren't necessarily strange music affiliated. You've I
- 32:11Speaker 2: think about some of the tours that I've been to
- 32:14Speaker 2: Uh yeah, I mean yeah, j Rock, Ko Glass of Malone.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Malone was on that tour. Dax, Yeah, shout out to Dax,
- 32:24Speaker 2: Freddy Gibbs.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Look how well he's doing.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Yeah for sure, but it's been it's been so dope.
- 32:31Speaker 2: But I want to know because you know, Fragile was
- 32:35Speaker 2: such a moment that had been. I would say that
- 32:38Speaker 2: relationship because a lot of people who don't know, like
- 32:41Speaker 2: Jay Rock had had to deal with strange you guys
- 32:44Speaker 2: put out his his was that his first full length album.
- 32:47Speaker 2: It was his first album because he had to do.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Right.
- 32:52Speaker 2: But that was like his first solo album that came out,
- 32:55Speaker 2: follow Me Home, Follow Me Home. Yeah, And that was
- 32:58Speaker 2: a partnership you guys had with TD. We see Kendrick's
- 33:01Speaker 2: on the road with Rocky.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Kendrick was on the road with Ray Jock. Uh, Jay Rock.
- 33:08Speaker 1: I almost said Ray j Dude Kendricks on the road
- 33:13Speaker 1: with Jay Rock because the guy that was out there
- 33:16Speaker 1: before Jay Rock's Kim Folk MJ. He got killed in Reno,
- 33:23Speaker 1: you know what I mean. On that tour, Damn. You
- 33:26Speaker 1: know we were we were performing at one of the
- 33:31Speaker 1: venues out there and it was way after the venue,
- 33:34Speaker 1: like three o'clock in the morning. We were sitting in
- 33:35Speaker 1: the sitting in the in the alley way, waiting for
- 33:40Speaker 1: the bus drivers. You know, yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 33:44Speaker 1: That's back when I was still partying ship. I'm up
- 33:46Speaker 1: partying with bitches everything, you know what I'm saying. And
- 33:48Speaker 1: uh we heard shots three o'clock in the morning, and uh,
- 33:53Speaker 1: m J. He you know, I guess he was on
- 33:55Speaker 1: the phone with his wife because the bus is going crazy.
- 33:59Speaker 1: He wants to go call us life. You know what
- 34:00Speaker 1: I'm saying, Let.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Me walk away, call my wife, make sure she does bullshit.
- 34:03Speaker 1: I guess they said it was some like Cambodian crips
- 34:07Speaker 1: across the street at the the liquor store early on.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Just looking over there, you know what I'm saying. And
- 34:14Speaker 1: everybody knows, you know, where we come from, the neighborhoods
- 34:18Speaker 1: and all that kind of thing, you know what I'm saying.
- 34:20Speaker 1: So I guess MJ had on a red J Rock shirt.
- 34:25Speaker 1: MJ is actually the crip. You know what I'm saying.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I have on read J Rock shirt because he's who's
- 34:29Speaker 1: on he's on tour with he's on the phone's wife.
- 34:31Speaker 1: And then three of them walked up and they said
- 34:34Speaker 1: that he said, uh, They said, y'all ready and then
- 34:37Speaker 1: tried to score up with him. Cut out, Houn, come
- 34:39Speaker 1: out the buzz like what you're trying to jump my nigga?
- 34:41Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. That's when the guys pulled
- 34:42Speaker 1: out and shot MJ all in the lower his lower park.
- 34:46Speaker 1: He was still alive, you know what I'm saying. I
- 34:48Speaker 1: talked to him on the phone a couple of days
- 34:49Speaker 1: later U at the hospital. We had to leave him
- 34:52Speaker 1: there in Reno at the hospital, you know, and and
- 34:55Speaker 1: go on to South Salt Lake City. By the time
- 34:57Speaker 1: we got to Salt Lake City, we got the call
- 35:00Speaker 1: all the buck blood clots killed him, you know. So
- 35:04Speaker 1: that's when they had to call on Kendrick to come
- 35:06Speaker 1: and fill fill out, fill in for MJ. It was hard, man,
- 35:10Speaker 1: it was hard. It was hard. And that's how I
- 35:12Speaker 1: met Kendrick, and that's when he gave me the section
- 35:15Speaker 1: eighty CD and that's when I put him on all
- 35:19Speaker 1: sixes and seven so nobody knew who he was. And
- 35:21Speaker 1: I love music with me and my family Marcus Jads
- 35:23Speaker 1: and then we did the one you're talking about, Fragile
- 35:26Speaker 1: after that when City just came.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Out, Yeah, which went platinum.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it went platinum.
- 35:30Speaker 2: That was was fragile before Hood Go Crazy. Rod was
- 35:37Speaker 2: after Okay, okay, okay, m what was it something about?
- 35:42Speaker 2: Because I feel like Kendrick was like the kind of
- 35:44Speaker 2: artists because around that time I had him on my show,
- 35:46Speaker 2: I think when I was in Vegas and like twenty
- 35:48Speaker 2: ten he came and freest out on the show. And
- 35:49Speaker 2: this was right before section eighty dropped. But like if
- 35:53Speaker 2: you were around him, you kind of knew, like, this
- 35:55Speaker 2: dude's alien.
- 35:56Speaker 1: For reason, Yes he was. He was a quiet dude
- 35:59Speaker 1: still that to this day. But you can tell that.
- 36:04Speaker 1: You know, Jay Rock would play me black hippie shit
- 36:06Speaker 1: on the bus. He was, you know, and I'm like,
- 36:08Speaker 1: who is that? That's k Dot? This is when j
- 36:11Speaker 1: was on the tour.
- 36:12Speaker 2: It's k Dot.
- 36:13Speaker 1: He's crazy. You know, I'm like, katok crazy, you know
- 36:17Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And then I finally met him, and
- 36:20Speaker 1: you know, on that tour we found out that he
- 36:22Speaker 1: was a special.
- 36:23Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 36:24Speaker 1: He watched me every night on stage when I was performing.
- 36:28Speaker 1: When you see his show now, man, you know, nothing
- 36:32Speaker 1: resembles Tech nine. He got his own energy, his own ideas. Man,
- 36:38Speaker 1: it is. It is massive. I watched that show in
- 36:41Speaker 1: Paris on Hulu or whatever, you know, and I was
- 36:45Speaker 1: just in awe. Man, you know what I'm saying, what
- 36:48Speaker 1: he's become on stage, and I've been to multiple tours
- 36:52Speaker 1: over the years to Kansas City, brings me on stage
- 36:54Speaker 1: and tells the story of us and all that man
- 36:57Speaker 1: and what he's turned into. Man is a mom monster live. Man.
- 37:01Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, you guys saying that I'm
- 37:03Speaker 1: the best show man that nigga, that nigga is. It's
- 37:06Speaker 1: hard to beat.
- 37:07Speaker 2: You see him on fucking Super Bowl two bows crazy.
- 37:11Speaker 1: I was there. I was there.
- 37:12Speaker 2: I bet you were a sad day for you. I
- 37:15Speaker 2: was there only I know it was. I'm sure halftime was. Son.
- 37:19Speaker 1: I was there. I was seeing it at Homie.
- 37:21Speaker 2: At least he gave you a good show to take
- 37:23Speaker 2: the take your mind off of the score.
- 37:25Speaker 1: I know. I'm gonna tell you like this, Before he
- 37:29Speaker 1: came on stage, the Eagles was.
- 37:35Speaker 2: They was already clapping, y'all.
- 37:36Speaker 1: They were, they were, they were, they were scoring so much.
- 37:38Speaker 1: After a while, I just started laughing, like Travis was heated.
- 37:42Speaker 1: He was just sitting there like this next to me
- 37:44Speaker 1: was Travis right here, Me right here, my uncle Ike
- 37:46Speaker 1: right there, my son next to him. You know what
- 37:48Speaker 1: I'm saying, and you know other people that was with us.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Travis was like he wasn't laughing at all. I'm like,
- 37:59Speaker 1: I'm eating my food, just laughing like this is old.
- 38:01Speaker 2: I got enough rings.
- 38:03Speaker 1: It's never enough ring, No for sure, especially what it
- 38:05Speaker 1: does for the city.
- 38:06Speaker 2: No for sure. For sure.
- 38:07Speaker 1: You know what I mean, the morale and all that
- 38:10Speaker 1: kind of thing. You know, the parade, we wouldn't have
- 38:12Speaker 1: the official record like parade we wasn't gonna have no
- 38:14Speaker 1: more because the last parade they start shooting.
- 38:16Speaker 2: But you I mean I'm saying, I mean, I feel
- 38:18Speaker 2: like it's good too for for I mean, you have
- 38:20Speaker 2: the anthem, so if they win, it's good for business.
- 38:23Speaker 1: It is. Yeah, Red Kingdom. I wrote that shit in
- 38:26Speaker 1: twenty nineteen. I put it out in twenty nineteen. Isold
- 38:30Speaker 1: king Io did the beat. We lost a year, but
- 38:35Speaker 1: it's still here after all these years.
- 38:37Speaker 2: For sure.
- 38:37Speaker 1: I took it off the set list though, you know
- 38:39Speaker 1: they let me know it. And uh, when we lost
- 38:41Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, I took it off the set list.
- 38:43Speaker 1: I can't. I can't came brag no more. You know
- 38:45Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But uh, the fans in Australia let
- 38:49Speaker 1: me know, like we want to hear Red Kingdom, So
- 38:51Speaker 1: I had to do it a cappella.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Yeah, just to give them a little taste.
- 38:55Speaker 1: They like they got Red Kingdom up on the signs
- 38:58Speaker 1: and shit, I'm like, it's just a song. The people
- 39:00Speaker 1: love who.
- 39:03Speaker 2: Who was the one artist who you brought on the
- 39:05Speaker 2: road that gave you a run for your money live
- 39:09Speaker 2: where you were just like, oh okay you you showed
- 39:12Speaker 2: up like.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Shit, I always been the what it is? You know
- 39:19Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 39:20Speaker 2: I know what I'm saying, Like someone who you brought
- 39:22Speaker 2: on the road, who opened for you where you were
- 39:23Speaker 2: just like yo, that there there.
- 39:25Speaker 1: No, I didn't have love. I ain't never have my
- 39:27Speaker 1: jay Z uh DMX moment because.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Yeah, because I remember when DMX opened for Hope on
- 39:33Speaker 2: the Hard Knock Live tour. I was like, I don't
- 39:35Speaker 2: know how jay Z's.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Nobody ever know they ain't taking nothing away from Ritz,
- 39:39Speaker 1: They ain't taking nothing away from or mg K or nothing.
- 39:42Speaker 1: But no, ain't nobody ever made me feel like holy shit,
- 39:46Speaker 1: I got to bring my egga, you know what I'm saying.
- 39:49Speaker 1: I went on before Ronnie Radkey and following reverse on
- 39:52Speaker 1: this last tour, you know what I mean. And I
- 39:54Speaker 1: saw all the ship that they do won't stay. I
- 39:56Speaker 1: was like, God, damn, I gotta step my ship up,
- 39:58Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Ship like that recently, But
- 40:01Speaker 1: uh na, man, I ain't never had that jay z
- 40:06Speaker 1: DMX moment like, Oh, these niggas out here killing it.
- 40:09Speaker 1: I encourage even the openers tear that shit down. Make
- 40:14Speaker 1: it hard for me. Always tell my artists make it
- 40:16Speaker 1: hard for me.
- 40:17Speaker 2: What I think is like a real like sign that
- 40:20Speaker 2: you are amazing at what you do is because I've
- 40:23Speaker 2: seen you do festivals where it's not a crowd full
- 40:26Speaker 2: of technicians and just cultivate the whole crowd. And that's
- 40:31Speaker 2: the hardest thing to do because it's easy. And I
- 40:32Speaker 2: wouldn't say it's easy, but it's one thing to perform
- 40:34Speaker 2: in front of your people. Yeah, it's another thing to
- 40:37Speaker 2: be like, oh, this is a radio show.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Yes, radio show. I've done those and killed.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Them, and you know what I'm saying, It's just different though.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Yeah, man, Yeah, it's like I'm the one backstage hearing
- 40:49Speaker 1: the crowd going so so right. I love that. I
- 40:53Speaker 1: love that for people to have that, But it doesn't
- 40:56Speaker 1: make me feel like, Okay, I got a fucking kill shit.
- 40:58Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, because I already know I
- 41:00Speaker 1: kill shit, you know what I mean? My spot is
- 41:01Speaker 1: forever reserved.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Like forty was great too, when you guys had that
- 41:05Speaker 2: forty tour, that was great. Talk to me about there.
- 41:08Speaker 2: There's the moment when you get shouted out by Lil
- 41:10Speaker 2: Wayne when he's incarcerated. Around that time, there was this
- 41:17Speaker 2: light that was flashed on what you guys are doing
- 41:20Speaker 2: in case, yes, I remember there, Yeah, there was list.
- 41:24Speaker 2: I remember it might have been Double Excel. Someone on
- 41:26Speaker 2: YouTube went and showed the operation, and all of a
- 41:29Speaker 2: sudden it was like, well shit, you know, people are
- 41:33Speaker 2: paying a lot more attention to what we got going on.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Tell me how the Little Wayne relationship kind of like
- 41:38Speaker 2: helped kind of change the trajectory of like opening you
- 41:41Speaker 2: up to new fans, and how it's still intact to
- 41:43Speaker 2: this day.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Wayne speaking my name saying that he wanted to work
- 41:47Speaker 1: with me in one hundred three thousand.
- 41:49Speaker 2: Man, because you're on the Carter four.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm on the Carter four. He said he was
- 41:53Speaker 1: gonna make that happen. I didn't know he was going
- 41:55Speaker 1: to put.
- 41:56Speaker 2: Us both on the same song, which is Yeah, the
- 41:58Speaker 2: introduwser my favorite part of that. It's crazy for sure.
- 42:01Speaker 1: And the way I heard it, he said, you want
- 42:03Speaker 1: to hear your song and he came to Kansas City.
- 42:05Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, he played it in Travis's office And
- 42:07Speaker 1: when Andre came on after me, I was trying to
- 42:10Speaker 1: be cool, but the inside of me is like, holy
- 42:14Speaker 1: fucking ship. Here, I got a song where Andrey I
- 42:20Speaker 1: was blown away. I was like, holy shit, you know
- 42:22Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I didn't know he was gonna do that.
- 42:24Speaker 1: So after that, I noticed that at the gathering of
- 42:28Speaker 1: the Juggalos, whenever I'd say it, they boo. You know
- 42:30Speaker 1: what I'm saying, They boo when I say little Waye.
- 42:33Speaker 1: I'm like, that's my family.
- 42:36Speaker 2: We ain't go do that.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Yeah, this is for the love of hip hop. Respect
- 42:41Speaker 1: that when I'm here, and they would clap, you know
- 42:43Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like, they respected that, you know what
- 42:45Speaker 1: I'm saying. Because a lot of my fans didn't want
- 42:47Speaker 1: the mainstream over here. They wanted there's a secret, and
- 42:52Speaker 1: that's how fans do. They are like all fans are
- 42:54Speaker 1: like they want they want the best kept secret. But
- 42:58Speaker 1: something like Tech nine you can't keep contained, man, you
- 43:01Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So I said a long time ago,
- 43:04Speaker 1: tech won't go mainstream. The mainstream will go tech. And
- 43:07Speaker 1: that's what gradually happened, you know what I mean. Wayne,
- 43:10Speaker 1: was that first thing that happened when he said out
- 43:14Speaker 1: of the blue, when I forgot who asked him? I
- 43:18Speaker 1: forgot I was funk Master flex Or. I forgot who
- 43:21Speaker 1: it was, Yeah, asked him when I was in jail,
- 43:22Speaker 1: who you want to I want to work with my
- 43:24Speaker 1: main man, Tech nine and Andre two thousand. Everybody's calling me.
- 43:29Speaker 1: I had to fight strange Land, meaning the fans, you
- 43:33Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, because they wanted to keep that
- 43:35Speaker 1: shit over there. You know what I'm saying. Lollipop was
- 43:37Speaker 1: out at the time. I want to hear that shit,
- 43:39Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But I fucked with elite artists,
- 43:44Speaker 1: and I adore elite artistry. So Wayne saying that, I
- 43:49Speaker 1: went to Rikers and said thank you. Me and Traft
- 43:52Speaker 1: you know, went out to the East Coast and said
- 43:55Speaker 1: thank you, you know, and he said when I get
- 43:57Speaker 1: out his on and it was as soon as he
- 43:59Speaker 1: got out, he said, come on down here in Florida.
- 44:02Speaker 1: We got a song. And they played it for me.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Mike Bangor was the engineer. He played it, damn dud.
- 44:11Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god, get on there and chop
- 44:15Speaker 1: that ship up. Wayne came in at twelve midnight, heard
- 44:18Speaker 1: it the next day and say, yeah, now I'm ready.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Now I'm ready. That's what I wanted. I'm like, yeah,
- 44:24Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And uh, the hood responded,
- 44:28Speaker 1: Tech killed it. Tech killed it? On all of surprise
- 44:31Speaker 1: to see Tech on the carter Ford did it. It
- 44:33Speaker 1: did so well with me for the culture for sure,
- 44:36Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, because when you think about
- 44:38Speaker 1: strange music, did you kind of think subculture? Right? It's yeah,
- 44:43Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So for the culture, that
- 44:46Speaker 1: was a win for me.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Yeah. It was funny to watch it because it was
- 44:50Speaker 2: like all of a sudden because you would always kind
- 44:54Speaker 2: of hear people talking about Tech nine and they would,
- 44:59Speaker 2: you know, because you had the face paint. How you
- 45:01Speaker 2: deal with this your whole career?
- 45:02Speaker 1: Right?
- 45:02Speaker 2: Read here and like, I feel like the Wayne, because
- 45:06Speaker 2: it always takes somebody when you are doing something underground
- 45:10Speaker 2: or doing something out of the norm, out of the box,
- 45:14Speaker 2: for pop culture to kind of embrace it. You kind
- 45:17Speaker 2: of need like a Wayne to be like, nah, this
- 45:20Speaker 2: is it, yeah, man. And then I feel like I
- 45:22Speaker 2: feel like you had gone through me and you had
- 45:24Speaker 2: a conversation. It might have been a backstage in Orlando,
- 45:29Speaker 2: it might have been to Freddy Gibbs tour, and this
- 45:33Speaker 2: was around the time breaking into colored houses to drive,
- 45:39Speaker 2: but I remember you were a little frustrated with the
- 45:44Speaker 2: lack of support from your own community.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Of course I've been, I've been. I've been banging that
- 45:49Speaker 1: my whole career. The message to the black man, all
- 45:52Speaker 1: those songs. Many why you ain't called me? You know
- 45:55Speaker 1: what I'm saying all that, you know what I'm saying.
- 45:56Speaker 1: It's like I've been talking about it because I always
- 45:59Speaker 1: felt like technol because I am the king, the clown
- 46:01Speaker 1: and the g I'm three dimensional, that it should be
- 46:04Speaker 1: for everybody. And that's what started with the gangsters in
- 46:07Speaker 1: the hood, you know what I'm saying, in Kansas City,
- 46:09Speaker 1: then the metal heads and then the college kids and
- 46:13Speaker 1: all that kind of shit, and then the Juggalos, you
- 46:14Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, and then you know rock and
- 46:16Speaker 1: roll all that. You know, I felt like that it
- 46:19Speaker 1: shouldn't exclude my people.
- 46:21Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 46:22Speaker 1: So usually when you do something and I don't like
- 46:26Speaker 1: to generalize, I'm saying that, ain't all black folks, right,
- 46:28Speaker 1: you know for sure painted face, red, spiked hair at
- 46:35Speaker 1: the time.
- 46:36Speaker 2: Nah bro Even now people are like like, you know,
- 46:41Speaker 2: like but it became cool though, but now like there's
- 46:45Speaker 2: this like you know, sub genre of like kind of
- 46:49Speaker 2: punk rock you look at like Woozy has done.
- 46:51Speaker 1: Yeah, playbrook CARDI said, he playbrock CARTI went on and
- 46:55Speaker 1: said that I was the pioneer of what he does,
- 46:58Speaker 1: uh image wise, And.
- 47:00Speaker 2: You know I didn't know that.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Yeah he did like a year and a half ago.
- 47:02Speaker 2: Shout. I just saw his show and it was it
- 47:05Speaker 2: was a lot yeah yah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
- 47:07Speaker 2: yeah yeah he said.
- 47:08Speaker 1: And you know, I think a lot of people don't know.
- 47:12Speaker 1: You was just talking about how I've been in it
- 47:14Speaker 1: for so long and still on the incline and all
- 47:17Speaker 1: this kind of thing. Man. I always tell my fans
- 47:19Speaker 1: that I'm Alu Card that's Dracula backwards. You know what
- 47:23Speaker 1: I'm saying. I don't look like I'm about to be
- 47:24Speaker 1: fifty four.
- 47:25Speaker 2: Now you look better than ever, bro, I'm honest. Yeah,
- 47:28Speaker 2: you look like Yeah, I'm gonna be here. You look
- 47:30Speaker 2: like better than you looked in like two thousand.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Yes, I've seen because he.
- 47:34Speaker 2: Was wearing all that drugs and all that liquor. Yeah. Yeah.
- 47:38Speaker 1: And I don't eat nothing but sour dough bread now, man,
- 47:40Speaker 1: only we bread on eat white bread. Don't you eat another
- 47:43Speaker 1: ship because Sarado has health benefits. But that's here you
- 47:47Speaker 1: need to hear. No there. But it's like certain things
- 47:49Speaker 1: that I changed that my wife implemented, right, you know
- 47:53Speaker 1: what I mean? And uh, I think that uh people
- 47:57Speaker 1: always going to give the props to Tech nine for
- 48:01Speaker 1: what we done early on independently and image wise that
- 48:07Speaker 1: I got crucified for and I didn't give a fuck.
- 48:10Speaker 1: You know I have. I have the worst sacrifice across
- 48:12Speaker 1: my chest, really big. It's been there for years, you know.
- 48:15Speaker 1: And I sacrificed myself for them to run right now.
- 48:19Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. Yeah, I think of like
- 48:21Speaker 2: Denzel Curry had an album where his face is painted
- 48:25Speaker 2: NBA young boy had a little wave where he painted
- 48:27Speaker 2: his face on it on social media decades later, Yeah,
- 48:31Speaker 2: decades later, and I just remember like you being chack
- 48:34Speaker 2: at it or weekend it. Yeah for sure, weekend it,
- 48:37Speaker 2: for sure. But you were put into this like box
- 48:39Speaker 2: because I think around that time, like there was like
- 48:41Speaker 2: you know, it was also kids were a lot more
- 48:43Speaker 2: shallow with their taste back then.
- 48:45Speaker 1: I think I think I think some some of the
- 48:48Speaker 1: culture they think, I said, some of the culture. People
- 48:54Speaker 1: in the culture, they think that when you do stuff
- 48:58Speaker 1: like that, like paint your face. I have a Bishops
- 49:00Speaker 1: robe on with red spiked haear that that's me saying
- 49:09Speaker 1: that I don't have the skill to get people's attention,
- 49:13Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying.
- 49:13Speaker 2: So let me but the rest to get the attention. Yeah,
- 49:16Speaker 2: they already write you off.
- 49:17Speaker 1: They write me off. But the motherfuckers found out that
- 49:20Speaker 1: I can do this shit butt naked with none of
- 49:22Speaker 1: that shit, and fuck all you niggas up lyrically. You
- 49:24Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. This is how I feel right
- 49:26Speaker 1: and that's and that's what people know, you know, and
- 49:28Speaker 1: know when they get on the song with me, they
- 49:29Speaker 1: really got to go you know what I'm saying, not
- 49:30Speaker 1: saying that you got to chop every time you You know,
- 49:33Speaker 1: even though that's all people say me, they want to
- 49:34Speaker 1: race me. I'm tired of racing motherfuckers. You know. They
- 49:37Speaker 1: don't have to race me on songs. I can do
- 49:39Speaker 1: hip hop shit. You know what I'm saying.
- 49:40Speaker 2: We can.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Me and Conway just did some shit for saying on
- 49:42Speaker 1: my last album.
- 49:43Speaker 2: You know what I mean. It's like, you know.
- 49:48Speaker 1: You don't have to do that. But motherfuckers know now
- 49:50Speaker 1: that I didn't need none of that ship. I don't
- 49:53Speaker 1: need none of that ship. I don't need the mask.
- 49:54Speaker 1: I don't need none of that ship to go toe
- 49:56Speaker 1: to toe lyrically with anybody in the industry.
- 49:58Speaker 2: You know, yo, talk to me. You had another insane,
- 50:02Speaker 2: like out of nowhere moment when you guys do this
- 50:05Speaker 2: record with the Rock. Okay, and now the Rock has
- 50:07Speaker 2: always been a supporter of your music.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Since since Riot Maker.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Yes, and he always is posting working out to tech
- 50:14Speaker 2: stuff and shut the gate. Yeah, and and so it
- 50:18Speaker 2: was so cool. You had to have written that verse, though,
- 50:21Speaker 2: Did you write the verse? No, the Rocks verse? No? No, no?
- 50:24Speaker 2: Does it sound like it sounded like you're paying.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna tell you how I went. I said,
- 50:32Speaker 1: I got some words that I think will be good.
- 50:37Speaker 1: It's about drive, it's about power, it's about you know.
- 50:42Speaker 1: It was doing still like that. He's like, no, no, no, no, no,
- 50:45Speaker 1: I want to go fast. He said, I want to
- 50:46Speaker 1: say it's about drive, it's about power. He was stay, hunger,
- 50:49Speaker 1: we devouring the work. I wouldn't I wouldn't have said
- 50:51Speaker 1: what he said. I put in the work, put in
- 50:52Speaker 1: the hours and take what's hours. That's all him.
- 50:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Like in some moment in my veins, I was just thinking,
- 50:58Speaker 1: for sure, mother, that's him.
- 51:00Speaker 2: Oh wow. So he put together if.
- 51:03Speaker 1: You're that's me, just like, okay, you should put this
- 51:06Speaker 1: right here. That's what the that's what the mass. I
- 51:09Speaker 1: just helped him put the cadences together. You already had
- 51:12Speaker 1: the words he did that ship man, that nigga know
- 51:13Speaker 1: what he's doing.
- 51:15Speaker 2: And that was you guys were in the studio together
- 51:16Speaker 2: for that. No no, no, no no no.
- 51:18Speaker 1: He's too busy for that. I did. I mean, I
- 51:20Speaker 1: had him on his DM. I was like, hey, I
- 51:21Speaker 1: think I found it because I met him out here.
- 51:24Speaker 1: He wanted to meet me on his set of Ballers
- 51:25Speaker 1: when he was out here with my people shining. You
- 51:27Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. They always trying to get me
- 51:29Speaker 1: to do movies, and I feel like I'm too weird
- 51:32Speaker 1: to act. And I've done a couple of things weird.
- 51:34Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Yeah, I might do that.
- 51:36Speaker 2: You got to get that Rob Zombie shit cracking, man,
- 51:37Speaker 2: you got you know what I'm.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Saying, Like my horror brain and I let out out.
- 51:41Speaker 1: They ain't never seen no ship like that. Jordan Peel
- 51:43Speaker 1: all them up be like, what the fuck is wrong
- 51:44Speaker 1: with nigga? But anyway, I met uh the Rock. Then
- 51:50Speaker 1: I said, I'm gonna find something. Then uh face off came.
- 51:54Speaker 1: I said, uh in his DM, I said, hey, I
- 51:56Speaker 1: think I found it.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Man.
- 51:57Speaker 1: He sent me his number, sent me his email all that.
- 52:00Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I was like, And then
- 52:01Speaker 1: we start talking on the phone, and we start talking
- 52:03Speaker 1: our way through it, and he said, this is what
- 52:05Speaker 1: I want to say, and I just helped him, you know,
- 52:10Speaker 1: put it in the right place. You know what I'm
- 52:11Speaker 1: saying on that last part, You know what I mean,
- 52:13Speaker 1: that's all him, dude, He killed it, killed it yeah.
- 52:16Speaker 2: Man, Yeah, and then and then the video.
- 52:19Speaker 1: I knew he could do it because Molana was out
- 52:23Speaker 1: right and yeah, look at it, make it everything happened.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Look at the but the top of but I'm like, oh,
- 52:33Speaker 1: oh yeah, he could do this. He did the Malana City,
- 52:36Speaker 1: He's he's Maui Mali can do this. So I knew
- 52:38Speaker 1: he could do it. You know what I'm saying. When
- 52:40Speaker 1: I said that, if you want to bring it to
- 52:43Speaker 1: the massive, you know what I'm saying, then up there
- 52:44Speaker 1: the booth, ascids whatever the he said. I knew he
- 52:48Speaker 1: could do it.
- 52:48Speaker 2: Man, you know what I'm saying, Yo, Can you talk
- 52:51Speaker 2: to me because obviously, uh one of the most uh
- 52:55Speaker 2: you know when we talk about West Coast goats, especially
- 52:57Speaker 2: people who are underrated. As a guy, Mac Dre, who
- 53:00Speaker 2: his life in Casey. Yes, you've obviously shouted him out
- 53:03Speaker 2: a lot over the years and your music. What was
- 53:05Speaker 2: your relationship like with mac Dre? Was it? Did you
- 53:09Speaker 2: guys have a relationship when he was alive? I know
- 53:10Speaker 2: he was in k C a lot.
- 53:13Speaker 1: This is what my homie say. I was on big drugs.
- 53:16Speaker 1: We was running a fucking strip club called Satin Dolls
- 53:20Speaker 1: downtown van Brunt. You know what I'm saying. Uh, they
- 53:25Speaker 1: said Mac Drake came in there and I was high,
- 53:28Speaker 1: and I gave him his first thistles. I don't fucking know.
- 53:31Speaker 1: I'm not gonna I'm not gonna claim that this man.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Somebody says that my nigga said, nigga, you gave it
- 53:39Speaker 1: to him, because I remember him coming in the club
- 53:42Speaker 1: and I was like, he's like, man, yuh told me
- 53:43Speaker 1: y'all was family. I'm like, he is, and that means
- 53:45Speaker 1: you family too. Because he told him to me, I'm like,
- 53:47Speaker 1: I remember, yeah, like this, you know what I'm saying.
- 53:51Speaker 1: But I don't remember giving him no goddamn th I
- 53:54Speaker 1: just knew I had sixty on me all the time.
- 53:57Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I had, I had, I
- 53:58Speaker 1: had a hook up. It was the flower girl in there.
- 54:01Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. That she would front me
- 54:03Speaker 1: the shit and not pay her later. You know what
- 54:04Speaker 1: I'm saying. Sometimes I had three of them and I'd
- 54:07Speaker 1: share them with the girls. I was like the house dad, nigga,
- 54:09Speaker 1: I go in there and get everybody high. You know
- 54:11Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I was. That was back then when
- 54:12Speaker 1: I was putting it on my tongue, Like take it
- 54:13Speaker 1: off my tongue, baby. You know that kind of crazy times.
- 54:16Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Crazy times for me. So
- 54:18Speaker 1: they said my homies like Nigga, he came in the
- 54:23Speaker 1: club that night and you gave him like Nigga, this
- 54:27Speaker 1: is what we do. And he's like for real. I
- 54:29Speaker 1: was like, I don't remember that sit at all. I
- 54:32Speaker 1: don't remember that sit at all, but I remember meeting
- 54:34Speaker 1: them in the club that sat and dolls, and you know,
- 54:37Speaker 1: he came in shining, you know, and the thing that
- 54:41Speaker 1: happened to him in case the negative thing. I was
- 54:44Speaker 1: on tour and I was doing a Halloween show in
- 54:50Speaker 1: Salt Lake City that day when I found out, Wow,
- 54:53Speaker 1: I called young Mouth immediately. I said, man, did he
- 54:54Speaker 1: have kids? He said, yeah, you fucking had kids.
- 54:56Speaker 2: Man.
- 54:57Speaker 1: I'm like, ah, you know, And they said it was
- 55:01Speaker 1: some street shit that happened over twenty thousand or something, right,
- 55:04Speaker 1: he was getting for a show and they left.
- 55:06Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 55:07Speaker 1: I wasn't there, man.
- 55:08Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 55:09Speaker 1: And uh, I hate it for Kansas City because they
- 55:13Speaker 1: love macdre. You would think he was from there. Man,
- 55:17Speaker 1: When any of his goe stupid comes on or anything.
- 55:21Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. It's not my job. They
- 55:23Speaker 1: play everything right. You know, everybody moves like Dre in
- 55:27Speaker 1: the city. You know what I'm saying. If you and
- 55:30Speaker 1: E forty because forty with mister Flamboyant opened up the
- 55:35Speaker 1: floodgates for the bay to come in to Kansas City,
- 55:38Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. To the Midwest, you know
- 55:40Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But macdre Man, you know that that's
- 55:45Speaker 1: his town as well.
- 55:46Speaker 2: For sure. You I remember I don't know shit, ten
- 55:51Speaker 2: plus years ago us having like talks about like you'd
- 55:55Speaker 2: worked with everybody. Obviously the one like person that was
- 55:58Speaker 2: still escaping the the tech feature was always eminem Speed
- 56:03Speaker 2: him comes out right, which was crazy because you brought
- 56:06Speaker 2: him to like literally brought him to your world. You've
- 56:10Speaker 2: worked with Surge, which I know was another one of
- 56:13Speaker 2: those ones. Right, is there anybody left that is there
- 56:17Speaker 2: anything new that you thought like, all right, well, I've
- 56:21Speaker 2: conquered all these dragons, I've had am all my shit.
- 56:24Speaker 2: I've worked with Lingree three thousand, you had Surged, Hanky
- 56:27Speaker 2: and opening up an album.
- 56:28Speaker 1: I mean it started the elite. That's started way back
- 56:31Speaker 1: in the day, you know, saying with me and Ice Que. Yeah,
- 56:35Speaker 1: I was on kimas Spice one and forty over and
- 56:37Speaker 1: over and over. The elite shit that just started back
- 56:41Speaker 1: in the day, you know, I'm saying. And then the
- 56:42Speaker 1: new generation came, you know.
- 56:44Speaker 2: So there's got to be some newer guy because you're
- 56:45Speaker 2: a fan of this ship. So I know people don't know,
- 56:48Speaker 2: like you'll like catch a flight to catch a concert
- 56:50Speaker 2: just to go. Like people like, yo, I'm in Arizona
- 56:53Speaker 2: right now. I'm here because I want to watch this concert.
- 56:56Speaker 1: I saw Travis Scott down there. I saw Chris Brown
- 57:01Speaker 1: down there, I saw her, I saw Daniel Caesar down
- 57:04Speaker 1: and my wife will come down to Arizona to go
- 57:07Speaker 1: to them goddamn show.
- 57:07Speaker 2: But what what is the what's thes what's the latest?
- 57:10Speaker 2: The latest artist? You're like, man, that this would just
- 57:13Speaker 2: be special, Like I really would love it.
- 57:14Speaker 1: I tried to get j Cole on my last record
- 57:17Speaker 1: on a song called I Met Morph. I was trying
- 57:19Speaker 1: to get him on that one, and we couldn't find
- 57:24Speaker 1: a way to get a response, you know what I'm saying.
- 57:26Speaker 1: So that was one I wanted to cause, you know,
- 57:27Speaker 1: he'd be, he'd be on motherfucker ship killing ship. I'm like,
- 57:30Speaker 1: for sure he's come over, come over here and kill ship.
- 57:33Speaker 1: Let's go, you know what I'm saying. And when did it?
- 57:36Speaker 1: When did he get you know what I'm saying. I
- 57:38Speaker 1: always wanted to do that. I always wanted some and
- 57:44Speaker 1: this is some old ship. But when I say old ship,
- 57:48Speaker 1: I mean this is something I've always wanted, you know,
- 57:52Speaker 1: Trent Reznor to do a track, you know what I'm saying.
- 57:55Speaker 2: Of course I'm saying.
- 57:56Speaker 1: I just I just did that one with Ronnie Radkey
- 57:58Speaker 1: falling of Reverse to Ronald song Man, and that turned
- 58:01Speaker 1: into a tour with us, you know what I mean,
- 58:04Speaker 1: And that that was a big one for me because
- 58:06Speaker 1: you know, they killing ship, you know Ronnie. I was
- 58:09Speaker 1: looking for Ronnie. The way I found Ronnie is when
- 58:13Speaker 1: I was doing Bliss, I was looking for metal Choppers.
- 58:18Speaker 1: I googled metal Choppers and he was at the top
- 58:20Speaker 1: of the list. Then Kim Dracula right then it was
- 58:25Speaker 1: like Suicide Boys after that and saying and uh then
- 58:29Speaker 1: it was City Morgan Auto. But Ronnie was on the
- 58:32Speaker 1: top of the list, so I hit him in his DM.
- 58:34Speaker 1: I'm a damn type of motherfucker. You know I'm saying,
- 58:36Speaker 1: that's how I got Duran Bnar own my ship everything. Yeah, man,
- 58:39Speaker 1: why not saying? But uh I hit him and he's like, man,
- 58:43Speaker 1: I've been wanting to work with you for the longest.
- 58:45Speaker 2: Man.
- 58:45Speaker 1: I sent him the song what I was gonna get
- 58:48Speaker 1: him and Kim Dracula on it. Because Kim Dracula's from Australia.
- 58:50Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 58:51Speaker 1: He's fucking crazy chopper. You know what I'm saying metal
- 58:54Speaker 1: And uh, Ronnie said, I loved the song. Man, I
- 58:57Speaker 1: just can't do it because I'm working on this huge album,
- 58:59Speaker 1: but I want you to be on one.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Kim Dracula still did it, you know what I mean?
- 59:03Speaker 1: And I was happy about that one. J Cole is one.
- 59:08Speaker 1: Trent Reznor is one. Brittany from Alabama shakes. I love
- 59:14Speaker 1: what she can do, you know what I'm saying vocally?
- 59:17Speaker 1: You know, I just love musicians, man. You know I
- 59:20Speaker 1: got a song with Gary Clark Jr. You know, like
- 59:23Speaker 1: I'm so, I'm so, I'm such a decorated m See. Man,
- 59:26Speaker 1: that's what my next album is gonna be called. Its
- 59:28Speaker 1: gonna be called decorated and I've done it, and I
- 59:32Speaker 1: got a weed song with Boys the Men, Dude, you
- 59:34Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, called Buddha. You know a lot
- 59:36Speaker 1: of people don't know. It's just went over people's heads
- 59:38Speaker 1: on the Storm, you know. And you know, I think
- 59:41Speaker 1: I think Gary Clark Jr. Is on that album as well.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Marsha Ambroses Is on that album from a Flower Trees all.
- 59:49Speaker 1: It's all over the spectrum, man. You know what I'm saying,
- 59:51Speaker 1: like rock, new metal, metal, you know what I'm saying,
- 59:56Speaker 1: slip knot. It's I'm so decorated that I only have
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: a few people that I have left. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: Jay Z's one of them as well.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: It would be crazy. Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I already got Kendrick, already got Jay Rock. You know
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I still haven't done that feature for
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: j I D. He sent me.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: Man, It's like J I D. Would be crazy.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: How many sent it to me, like around my birthday,
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: like November seventh, And then I went on a run
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: right after that and I got sick three times from
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Thanksgiving all the way to the New Year. So I
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: haven't been able to do it because I didn't want
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: to get about.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: To turn his album man if it's not already turned in.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: Oh man, he's crazy.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Because I'm just now letting up, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: And I gotta I gotta hit him and say, am
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: I late? That was like almost five months ago? Yeah,
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: I know I'm saying.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: I know he did like a little private listening for
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: whatever this new project is, but maybe not. I mean
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: there's no dat announced. As you know, there's always there's
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: always time to get ship over finish line.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Yeah. I got sick three times, man, and I couldn't
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: get in the studio with him like that.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: Yeah, because he wanted the race, right, He's one of them.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: He wanted to race, like oh you want to raise
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Look here we go, you know, the day before my
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: birthday and my birthday November eighties and the November seventh,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: and still haven't done it. Man. I'm like, damn, I
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: gotta I gotta get that done for j I.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: D talk to me about like your guys' model. I
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: just saw Travis just did an interview with King Court
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: with the Whole Court podcast where he was kind of
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: breaking down just kind of how things have changed since streaming,
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: the streaming era, and how you know, obviously the lack
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: of physical product in the marketplace. It's kind of you know,
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: like you said, strangers always gonna find a way. You
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: guys have always found a way to survive and evolve.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: But just the og like, when did you realize as
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: a whether it was you or Travis or together, like, yo,
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: we gotta have like multiple Skew was on tour because
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: I remember, man, when you used to I mean, I
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: remember the first time I went to one of your shows, bro,
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: a solo show. I was absolutely floored by the merch section.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's all travels right there.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: And I mean we're talking about Jersey's license plates.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: That's back then. That's back then when I had to
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: okay everything.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: Now, I was like, I'm like, and then the other
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: thing too. You would have the dude who would walk
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: around with the box of CDs.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Yes, sir, we have we have three CD sellers.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: In the hitting the line. Yeah, hey, you guys want
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: to buy the see and and COVID for sure. And
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: I think back to like, you know, obviously, I would
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: say probably before in terms of taking advantage of the
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: merch thing, I would say ICP was before you, guys.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: But in terms of perfecting that model of like cultivating
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: your fan base into like a real core core that
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: like physically can support you with what you might even
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: have to have the album out, like hey guys, we're
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: gonna do merch drop. I remember the jerseys great that
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: the red case jersey with the nine and good.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: But I think, I think, I think surviving for twenty
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: five years is a blessing to have the core that
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: we can still sell physical product to, you know what
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: I'm saying, and and everything and merchandise. Our story is crazy, man,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: year after year, you know what I'm saying. So that's
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: just that's just a blessing. We were able to keep
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: all that, all those people with me evolving over the years,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: and people having something to draw from, Like your best
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: album was Angelic, your best album was ever Ready. You
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Special Effects was the last good album.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. People say, I love that,
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: bro crazy, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: So so you know they have something to draw from
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: because we've been in it for twenty five years with
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: strange music, you know what I mean. So if they
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: didn't have so much to draw from, they would probably
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: like really respect all the new I'm dropping, you know
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But people have their favorites because they'll
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: attach nostalgia to it.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: Yes, the time of their life.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Yes, when this thing happened and Tech nine was there,
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: kod O nine, that's when whoa he really hit that there?
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: You know after that, he ain't had nothing good since.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I'm like, bullshit, right, you know what I mean. But
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: the fact that we've been able to keep all those
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: people people's attention for these twenty five years, and we
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: can call it the core, is a testament to great
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: and good product. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: Yeah, because you don't get on the Forbes list without
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: a lot of stuff that isn't just the music, right exactly.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying is everything that comes with
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: the experience. It's the tour merchandise, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: the video game placements, the TV placements and everything. You know,
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: it counts, and uh, I'm just you know, that's why
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: lately I've been talking to Trav about directed consumer.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Which I think is honestly the next It's kind of
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: like things have to be be full circle event. We're
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: talking to him about it since as nine because think
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: about it, there's a I don't know if you've heard
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: of a something called even Yes. Yeah, So there's a
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: lot of artists who are doing that, right, Like Dizzey
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: Wright did an album on there. It was like at
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: the end of the day, like if you actually were
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: to calculate even if you release an album for the
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: first three months directed consumer.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: That's what I'm talking about, you know, That's what I'm
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: talking about, Like, hey, let's let's get some money first.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Because you got to look at I mean, thirty nine
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: I think thirty nine hundred dollars is about a million streams.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: So if you do a million streams, it's like between
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: like thirty seven and like four thousand dollars essentially. So
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: when you start breaking down like some of the numbers,
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: you're like, damn, Like we put so much into this shit,
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: right and the streaming shit is really fucked I mean
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: like it's it's really fucked up.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: Like you got to get money off of you know,
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: the music is.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: We have no it's a it's a vessel to get
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: to get other things, the other's things. Fuck that.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Yeah, fuck that man, you know what I'm saying, Especially
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: for fifty eight sixteen Forest a personal album like that.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: I don't want to get that sit away for free,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: my nigga.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: Also, like your fans would rather buy a piece of
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: vinyl from you?
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: Yeah, that's coming to like hey sixteen, Hey, look, the
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: first people who are going to hear this album are
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: gonna get it on CD and vinyl. Yeah, that's exactly
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: what's happening. That's crazy that your mind's thinking that because
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Travis was on that already.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: Like you guys are going to get this piece of art.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Wait till the pre order drop, you gonna see.
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: It, and then eventually you'll be able to put it
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: up on you know, and you can watch the music
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: videos on YouTube.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it's easier said than done when you were you know,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: connected to you know, a distribution and uses connected to
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: you know, it's Virgin.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: Now right right, and then they're like, well, it's a
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: little bit harder to be like, well, we're gonna just
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: crack this, crack our fans real quick and make sure
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: they get first access. Well, you know, the business the
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: business model of Virgin is like no, no, no, not.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Their percentages are included in that right, So it's like, sorry,
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: I just snored it. Their percentages are included and directed consumer.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. It's like it seems like
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: that everybody else would want to make more money, you
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: know what I'm saying.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: It would seem too as if there's an artist that
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: is capable of fucking up the.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: The game, fucking the industry again, it'd be you. Yeah,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: you remember that. You remember that thing we had in
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: two uh FTI. It was like fun the industry.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: We did the commercial like download my album Absolute Power
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: for free and if you like it, you know what
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: I'm saying, support, We got that shit away for free,
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: my nig and it worked. So here we are again.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Streaming is killing the industry. We're still afloat, by the
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: grace of God. Now's the time. I think it's time
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: to fuck the industry again. Man said and done. Though,
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: I know we got a lot of susts that are connected.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: And have you been paying attention to the Russell?
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Of course he's on my last album. The Russell is
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: like Russell and Stunnermento two. Shout to Russell, man, you
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: know they moving.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: He's also got he's got this out. He thinks outside
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: the box of everything and it's working for him. Yes,
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: it's like, hey, if you want to come see me,
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: my show starts at two p m. Because I don't
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: like being outside of night and you get to put
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: a bit in on your ticket.
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: He's on He's on COSM. We got a song called
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: sour though. Okay, you know, but it's why while you
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: sal while you so. I think he's the sneaker is.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: On the hook. He's done a good job of showing
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: artists like, hey, like, you don't have to play by
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: the rules you think you have to play by.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: L Russell and Russ you know the same guy? Uh
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: who did it? Who did it? Glorilla did it? You know,
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: directing Consumer Lately. I think gn X was like that
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: with Kendrick.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: Yeah, they man that just from a hip hop fan perspective,
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: you had to have loved the last year of hip hop.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: I mean because the Kendrick Drake beef brought out. I mean,
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: however you feel about the results, I mean, we know
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: who won, but uh, just it was just good to
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: see like people dissecting bars, like.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: Really good on that and in that aspect, you know
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: what I'm saying the hip hop energy that was brought
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: forth by that beef. What I worry about is the
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: street element of it all. And that's why I put
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: out no popcorn. I don't have no popcorn emojis because
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: I know we're all gang members, right, you know what
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: I'm saying. And Uh, you can't control the.
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: Entourage, you can't control the Philly, the family.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: The fanaticis yeah, you know what I'm saying. And when
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: Drake's house got shot at, you know what I'm here
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: comes That's what I didn't want. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: I don't I want to. I wanted to. I want
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: to keep it in the spirit of hip hop. Would
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: have done what it did, uh for it positively. But
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: we have to keep our eye on the street element
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: because it comes with us. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: So so far, so good, so far, so good.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: I was talking to day Free the other day with
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: a og muggs. He had him on three Way, and
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: I said, I think y'all gonna be really good in Toronto, man,
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. He's like, oh yeah, man,
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: they come out in Toronto, man, is wonderful. I think
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: I think y'all gonna be good, and I would expect
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Drake to.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: Be okay in two stadium shows. Yeah, I know, two
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: stadium shows in Toronto.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Yes, I know, I know.
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: I think they think they're gonna be good. You know
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: And I think Drake is in LA enough to be like.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: He shouldn't be good here? Yeah, man, he better be man,
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But you know, with the
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: street element, man, you just never they take it beyond.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: We've always took it beyond. Because this is my theory
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: on it. If you say something negative about technolo on
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: the record, that means you're now in the spirit of
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: hip hop. I get it. But that means you're trying
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: to take food out of my family's mouth, my nigga.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: So we're gonna have a problem. You know what I'm saying. Now,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: I've been in battles and I haven't lost. I've never lost,
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So, and that it has
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: never gotten so personal that you couldn't shooting at each
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: other or fighting in the club waiting about to have
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: that shit in casey, you know what I'm saying. So, uh,
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: But with that street element. You're trying to take food
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: and money away from me by turning people away from me. Nigga,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: I got something for you. That's what I don't want.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and then there's like you said that you can't
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: control somebody who's young, who's affiliated, who wants to prove
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: himself right right right, that you aren't even you might
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: not even we didn't even send it.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: We didn't even send it.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: We didn't even know this was gonna happen. And then
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: there's also insane fans like people.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: Might say Tech nine's name, I would never send it.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: They send it to themselves because I have followers.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: Yeah, you you're you're you're inviting certain energy to your yea,
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: to your So.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: The thing when it happened with ICP, that's me and
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Joe Bruce talked about.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: I'm like, man, yeah, he talked about it.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: We don't want to we don't want to turn this
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: into something. We just had a we we had a
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: really good two hour talk when the ship was happening,
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: when I was getting death threats from a few juggalos,
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: we had like a two hour talk and it was
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: like a history lesson from Tech nine from Kansas City
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: what started the killer clown and all this kind of
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: thing because they was under the impressing that I got
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: it from them, and I'm like, I was the clown
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: in ninety four, you know what I'm saying, And I
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: have to tell them all that, and uh, but they
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: did show us a lot of shit on that tour No.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: Three that we had to up our game and merch
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: and everything, and their stage show was fucking I just
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: saw them performing the other day and it's still crazy
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: for sure.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: Yeah, you have this energy about thinking about them shooting
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: two leaders of FA go into the crowd.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Oh they're still doing that. They're still doing that. They're
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: still doing that. And it's like me and Joe Bruce
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: talked about that, about the history and what I learned,
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: and you know, we got to clear about the gang element.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: I don't want it to bleed into this, you know
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: what I'm saying, because whether they know it or not,
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, The Clowns, the Juggalos are
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: not a gang, but people look at them as a gang,
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. It's all over the world too. Sure,
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: it's in Australia, it's in the UK, Juggalos are everywhere
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: and they come show love my nigga and like they
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: always have.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: Yeah, if you go to a tech show, you're gonna
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: se Juggles of course, of course, and a lot of
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: people have strange and hatchet Man tattooed yes sir, yes, sir.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: So we talked about the gang element that I didn't
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: want to bleed over into that. And they came to
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: my show in Detroit and they introduced me and everything
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: and it was good, you know what I mean. After
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: after they did your show, I did a song what
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: was it called? I forgot what it was called. And I
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: was talking telling people that I'm not upset and what
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: they were saying on the show. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: I'm like, they didn't say nothing wrong, but you know
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: what I mean, It's like the face paint thing was unclear,
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And they didn't know that.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: When I was on that tour, I only had my
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: guy doing words across my head, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: But before that, I had Brian Bezel Dennis in ninety
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: four doing my full skull face, right, you know what
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: I'm saying. I didn't know nothing about dark loadus and
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: none of that shit I'm talking about when I did
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: when I did the show and Lawrence Kansas with the
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: luminous paint on my face and the black cross across
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: my face. You know what I'm saying, lights cut off
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: you could see just across on my face. I didn't
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: know nothing about dark Lotus back then. That's what they did.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: And it's like those were in That was in the
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: early nineties, you know what I mean, and shit like that.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: So we had to talk about all that, you know
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: what I mean, because we had similarities when it come
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: to face paint and all that kind of shit. And
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: I was trying to say that I've never been a bier.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: I've always been an innovator. I've always you know, saw
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: things that y'all did and purposely didn't want to try
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: to mimic it, right because that's their thing. I would
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: never get up there and have clowns come out and
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: throw feyo or nothing, you know what I'm saying. Even
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: though I'm the killer clown, I do mine in a
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: different way, you know what I mean. So I talked
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: about that gang element and we got that shit straight early.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: Man.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, and then it didn't it
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: didn't keep going.
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: That's good. Yeah, I feel like like trying to split
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: up your guys's fans, is that insane because there are
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: a lot of the same people.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: Yeah, man, you know, yeah, man, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: It's gotta be wild too, because you've like we're talking
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: about twenty five years of strange music at this point
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: in time. Like there's people probably with Tech nine tattoos
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: that are like fucking teachers, Dennis. Yeah, Like there's like
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: technicians that are like probably in high places that you
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: would even do unless they took their shirt off.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Man, they approached me and people that I don't think
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: that's gonna come up with me and say anything about
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: techno tuned in for twenty years, I'm like, holy shit, right,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: Tech nine always felt like fight club, you know what
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: I mean. Like you go into the restaurant and all
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: the people with all the cooks, all the servers, they
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: gnawed at you, you know what I'm saying. But all
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: the rich people, you know, they don't know what the
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: is going on until at the end when I'm taking
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: pictures with everybody, like who are you again? You know,
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: it's fight club thing.
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, yo talk about obviously, you know,
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: for people who don't know, Save Me was a record
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: that came out under Strange Music's distro. Shout to our
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: brother Jelly Roll, who is one of the biggest stars
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: on the planet these days. You know, he's had a
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: crazy journey through musical You know, I think back to
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: damn like him opening up FORCP on tour. I mean,
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: he really was an actual underground rap like rappers, like really,
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: you know, it's the human talking about subculture like he
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: came from that kind of like yes, that subculture of
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: like Ritz and Wolf and Haystack, and he was he
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: was really in the streets and for sure, but what
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: what what what I mean? Obviously you guys also have
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: a platinum record together at this point, we do a creature.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: Creature is platinum? Yeah? How cool has it been? Just
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: as somebody who knows Jelly and and and it's obviously
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: broken bread with him.
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: But just it couldn't happen to a better person. It
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: couldn't happened to a better person. And he's so thankful
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: it couldn't happen to a better person. He's always been
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: stand up cat you know what I mean, him and
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Travis going back and forth because he didn't want to
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: release save Me, you know, to his fans, because he
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: thought that they would be making fun of him because
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: he's singing. I'm like, dude, your singing voice like we
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: did Easier for you, ef you man, I'm like, when
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: he sang on that easy up for you, I'm like, dude,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: your singing voice is crazy, though, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: And then save Me.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: Took over. It's just one of those beautiful songs ever.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Yeah, and Eminem just reused it, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: In fact, Eminem sampled the song that was like five
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: years old.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: Yeah, so crazy man, But it couldn't happen to a
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: better human being.
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: Man, Yeah, it's dope to just see. Like I'm like,
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: that's why I try to tell people. I'm like, if
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: you knew Jelly, because I would always tell Jelly the
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: same shit. I'd be like, brother, Like as soon as
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: people just like get to anybody who knows Jelly, when
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: back then, it would just take people to meet him
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: and they'd be like, y'all love this guy. I might
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: not know him, but I just love this fucking guy,
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: and it was almost like the world went through that
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: experience himself.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: He don't have to put on a mask or anything.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I don't mean like a
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: mask to put on them somebody, like a fake persona.
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, because my mask was really
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: going on inside. You know what I'm saying. But he
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: doesn't have to put on a fake persona to be
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: jelly roll. He's jelly roll everywhere, you know what I mean.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: And people love that authenticity, authenticity, and it's gonna be
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: him and until he's ready to say bucket.
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: Yeah sure, yeah, yeah, you mentioned earlier. Certain fans will
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: like point some of your older albums. If you in
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: your estimation, let's take the new album coming out out
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: of the equation, what would you what would you say
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: is your best album? I'm sure it changes for you
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: all the time.
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: They are all my babies, man, tell them this all
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: the time. They are all my babies, from Angelic to
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: Absolute Power to the vintage Tech too. You know what
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: I'm saying. Ever ready to all sixes and sevens to
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: I got so many, man, It's like I'm on album
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: like twenty five or twenty six right now.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: That's insane.
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: I think ever Ready was the turning point. You know
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Like, we was out here, Bias One
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: was giving me beats and we were all, that's Richie
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: Abbit over there. You know what I'm saying is that
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: I'm looking at yeah out here. I took so many turns.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: You know what. I realized that y'all gave me a
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: Jay Dilla CD back then that I don't I remember
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: seeing that. I never really got into it. And then
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: years later I realized that I dropped that ball I'm
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: talking about. We was doing ever Ready. They was giving
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: me you.
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: Had his Diller Beat CD full of them.
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: That's crazy, And I'm like, you know, buys One, like
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: you need to check out this dealer guy. I'm like, okay, whatever.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Caribou's on ever Ready right.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Yes, sir, care Blue come Gangs come Gangster, right Baker.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. The rain, Yeah, that was
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: the turning point when we got with When we got
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: with Fontana, that turned into Ingrows that we're with now.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Uh, that was a turning point.
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: Ever Ready, that's a big one. Rick Rock is on
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: there you know what I'm saying with my wife, my bitch,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: my girl and no can do you know? Rick Rock
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: just came through and just dropped some barrier shit on us.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like for real, for real, man,
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: ever Ready was the turning point for Tech nine to
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: get really really massive.
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I feel like Everready has, especially if you like,
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: I mean, if you go to one of your shows,
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: it's like there's like there's certain songs I've noticed you
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: like move in and out of the set list, like
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: like like, yeah, it was one of my favorite songs,
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: but I haven't heard like you do, Like yeah for
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: some I have years, but like that album has got
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: like they ain't going nowhere in the set list, you
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: know what I mean? Yeah?
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: Man, Yeah, Man, ever Ready, I would say every Ready
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: as the turning point. It's not my I can't say
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: it's my best album.
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: What do you think is your best? Though?
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: I don't think I think they're all the best. My nigga,
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Have you heard Frank Hellic Angelic come on?
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: Man?
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: For sure Angelic Tormented from Tormented to the song with
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: Roger Trappman at the end. You know what I'm saying, Twisted,
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: you know what I mean. It's like angelic is you
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: don't skip it. You know what I'm saying, you can't
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: skip it. Absolute power industry is punks to whatever. This
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: is me or whatever. You know what I'm saying. Do
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: you remember, Uh No, that's not that's ever ready, this
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: is me.
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Do you remember you're recording stamina in the
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: in the studio.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: Let me tell you something.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: You want to hear this story.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: So I've always had stamina in my mind. You know
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I want to shoot, I want to
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: wrap to a gun. You know what I'm saying. So
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: me and don Wan's in his basement and he sets
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: the m p C three thousand or yea to this swing.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: That's kind of like the way you make me feel like, uh,
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: Michael Jackson stamina. I'll be damn if I ever be
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: took away by the demons. I'll never be what the
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: weather win. That was the rhythm I come with the
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: heater cleverly Nigga went out and will never be so
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: killer Flow Zilla Gorilla and Flow was a fella meee,
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: I'll be in the line Hella doing time for the
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: Tech nine is so he said, you got to play
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: it because you know what, I'm like, pop up up.
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: I did it. So I told the one I got
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: on the I got on the mic. I said, okay,
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: now speed it up. Stemina Stamina. I said, keep going, Stamena.
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: And when he got into the first perfect pitch, I
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: was like, Stemina, I'll be done. Ever be took away
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: by the demons that never be what. The weather went,
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: hythm come with the heat cover leaue nigga noo, the
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: one ever be so killer. If I was a fell
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: I began to lie doing time for the now you
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. He's like, what the fuck? Yeah?
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: I did that Ship of the Road Dogs. We had
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: this album. We had this song I'll call Let's get
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: fucked Up. It's fucking the town up. So def Jammer
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: came to Kansas City at this place called it wasn't
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: called uh this name at the time, this club. I
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: forgot what it is, you know, since down there on
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: the East side where the Essays are, and they had
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: they had this thing that was like a not a
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: talent show, but a industry party where people will be showcasing,
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: saying a showcasing. And me and Roddargs went down there.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: I remember, I just came out here from QD three
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: and I did a photo shooting. I had that ship on.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I had my special boots on,
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: my Kenneth Cold boots on, and all them niggas was
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: dressed in their bloodshit. You know what I'm saying. I
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: came out there and I started out and I Chris
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: Callico said, he was in the crowd. It was Boulevard Knights.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: Now this's the club. That's what I just thought about it.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: Boulevard Knights called that. Now it's called something that then.
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: Back then something was back then. I did that ship,
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: Chris Callico said. When I was in that crowd, man,
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: when you first did Stamina and that whole place went up.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: When I did it first live, when I said Tech
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: nine and the whole place stood up, I just fell
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: out laughing.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: Did you always do the head cock? Yeah, yes, yeah, yeah,
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: yeah yes, because you have certain songs, you have, you
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: have your like. I wouldn't necessarily choreography, but you have
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: your like, your moves, you record.
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I had don Wan put the cock click clack,
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: stamming up. You know what I'm saying that Tech nine,
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: you know, I knew exactly how I was gonna do it.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: I had it in my head and uh, next thing,
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: you know, I did it at this place called Maniacs
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: and Independence Man and it fucked everybody up. I think
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: Twister was there or something like that, and fuck everybody up.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: And I was doing I was doing that Einstein and
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: let's get fucked up with the planet Rock with the
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: rogue Dogs, you know what I'm saying. And Uh, I
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: just knew I had some special with stamina, so I
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: left it back there in the nineties. Now, recently, I
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: did a song called RDV on my new album fifty
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: A sixteen fours. We just put out videos out the
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: videos out, so I thought, at the end of the song,
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: when I'm talking about giving a salute to some of
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: the rogue Dog villains that were not with us anymore
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: and the ones that are still here, I thought I'd
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: give a salute to my soldiers. I thought it was
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: worthy of medalling back that, I mean, dialing up that
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: stamming a style and yelling out all the names. And
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: it's effective. Still I still I did it again. This
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: time me and Bengineer did it and we didn't have
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: to use the MPC three thousand. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: It's like, Ben, let me going there on a metronome
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: and do that shit. Sippy Bigs are a picture star,
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: demmit star, Williama? Send this League one John John, Michael
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: werber TONI D, Tony Kennedy, Doctor Bob, Marty, Duken, Fly Mac.
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: M hm.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: I'm like, just on those names, put the put that
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: AK forty seven sound, you know what I'm saying, or
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: the sk sound on top of it. You know what
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: I'm saying. It's just as effective as it was in
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: the nineties.
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: Yeah, it's crazy because it's like one of those moments
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: in your live show that like it doesn't take up
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: a lot of space, but it's so like like again,
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: if you don't know Tech nine and you go and
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: see you see do you do that? You're like, did
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: this motherfucker?
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: Just yeah?
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: Wrap over a machine gun.
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: For a long time, I was doing it at the beginning.
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: Now I've been doing it at the end a lot lately.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: You know, at the end of my show, you know, boom.
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: But when I did the show with when I did
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: this tour with Falling in Reverse and Blackveilt Brides and
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: all the other guys that are on the tour, Dance,
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: Gavin Dance. I felt like this was a new crowd,
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: so I put it at the beginning.
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: Right and let them just to just to be like, hey, yeah,
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: you pay attention.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: I had. I took it all the way back to
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: O two when I was on the ICP tour with
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: the high top boxing shoes, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: and all that kind of shit. I brought that back
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: with the scrubs and uh, I had stamina at the
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: beginning right into industry as punks like I used to do,
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: and it fucked them up. And I had my band
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: with me playing that shit. Yo.
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: You you mentioned your album number twenty five, twenty six,
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: whatever it might be. There's been a trend going on
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: in music recently where a lot of people's catalogs are
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: getting bought. Oh yeah, have you and Trav ever considered
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: listening to those convos?
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: No, not now, because when it comes time to sell,
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: we want to have something in the selle. You know
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: what I'm saying. When we if we ever sell strange music, right,
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, We've we've done a deal
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: with the.
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: Streaming side, right, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: But other than that, all the pub listening, everything, all hours,
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And uh, other than that, man, no, man,
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: we just steady building.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: What was the catalyst that implemented? Because I always talk
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: about this on the show with certain artists, I bring
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: up your guys's the tour regimen is pretty wild, but
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: specifically the rules. Yes, you guys will find people, Yes
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: they break the rules. It's it's it's very like it's
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: a professional setting. But it wasn't always that way. What
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: what happened was it was it? What was the thing
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: that kind of was the turning point where you said, hey,
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: maybe it was a Travis thing, but hey, we're not
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: fucking around here anymore. It's too much to lose.
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: This is the rules with any rule system, the fuck
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: ups have to happen first.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: So if MGK is having food fights at you know,
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: saying the buffet spot, Oh.
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you guys had MGK during his wild really literally
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: like let me.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: Just fuck up a hotel room. Yeah, it's real. It
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: was real for sure. I'm talking about Golden Corral. They
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: kicked us out, we were banned from all golden corrals
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: around the Midwest.
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: Crazy because so was an MGK that started the rule book.
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: Was he the inspiration?
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: He got a lot in the rule book? The rule
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: book started before him.
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: Okay, but but there's like you can point to the
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: rules now and be like, don't.
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: Climb and trust, don't don't don't do this, don't throw food,
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: don't fucking tear up, don't fucking paint the motherfucking venue walls.
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: It's all mg K, you know what I'm saying. But
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: everything that Me and Cut did not Chris Calico, because
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: he's always been the same, right, everything that Me and
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: Cut did, you know, like fucking fat bitches and ship
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: and then they sit on the toilet and break the
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: toilet and all the water goes everywhere and floods all
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: the fucking you know what I'm saying, all that ship,
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: and we got to pay for all this and all
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: that ship. It don't have don't fuck fat bitches. In
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: the then rule book, it's just saying, be careful what
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: you do in the rooms, because we have to pay
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: for everything to mess up, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: But all the ship that we did over the years,
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: you know, don't have sex in the bathroom on the
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: bus because you're gonna break the sink. You know, stuff
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: that happened, you know what I'm saying. So with any
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: rule system, we had to do all that fucking up
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: to get all that in there.
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: Yeah, because I remember when Dizzey Wright was on tour
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: with you guys meet and him would be talking and
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: he'd be like, I'm just getting fine every day, man,
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: because I got to smoke, right, because I can'tnot smoke.
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: Well, you can smoke, you just can't smoke on the bus,
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: right on the bus right sometimes on the premises they
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: don't want you to smoke. So, you know, because if
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: you break the rules, you can find yes, you do, yes,
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: you know, it'll start low and then they'll go up
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: to five hundred dollars if you do this. If you
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: if you transport fans from one city to another to another,
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: you know you can't do that.
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: That's it. That's like what you call that ship, you
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: know that they'll call that something. Yeah, they call nowadays
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: it's human trafficking.
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it's trafficking.
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Like if you if you fly a girl out
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: for the intent of sex, it's human trafficking, even if
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: it's weird. Well, yeah, there are like some of these things,
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: like obviously Diddy is a piece of shit, but some
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: of the things are saying did he did? I'm like, well,
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: like ninety eight percent of every rapper and hip hop
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: has flown a check out and gave her some money.
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: The fuck I ain't, not necessarily, not directly, but like, yeah,
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: let's go shopping, let's go, let's go get dinner. Ye,
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: let me pay for the fly.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: Yeah, you're you're you're indirectly Pavel.
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: But for sure, Yo, there's so many of your records
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: because I know you're such a huge fan of horror movies.
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: You are a horror movie buff. Yes, yes, what's your
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: what's your goat? But like, what's you likely your top
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: three or four hor horror movies of all time?
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: I'm the lyrical Michael Myers man, everybody know that.
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. So it's Halloween, do you, fellow?
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: Did you love the rob Zombie Halloweens? Of course I
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: loved them. Yeah, I own all of I know that
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: they're very like ow all of I think they're polarizing
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: for some people. Yeah, on all of what do you
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: think about terrifier.
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: I love terrifier. I love art. Now, you know, I've
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: seen all of them. I saw the three hour one,
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: me and my wife. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: Yeah, the new one was pretty crazy. It's like Christmas
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: movie people.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: Yeah, people were leaving out. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: People were leaving out. We were we were on rooms laughing.
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: But I feel like some of your records could be
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: horror movie Csycho Bitch.
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: Well, this is the thing. I hear. A lot of
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: people say that I'm a horror core a rapper, but
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: they don't know. I've never looked at myself as.
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: A horror core I don't think you're that at all,
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: What I'm saying. But a lot of people think that
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: because of my darkness. You know what I'm saying. My
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: darkness is my life. Psycho Bitch is real stories, right,
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But when you get into
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: ko D, that's when the lines get blurred because I
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: got things on there like black in the Sun. That's
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: my imagination and they will put that in the horror
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: core bracket, I think. But I've never looked at myself
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: as a shock horror core MC. I've just I've always
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: been infatuated with the darkness, per my Christian mom, Marty Soyer's.
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: Khalifa, And if you listen to KOD, it was was
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: show me a God kicking that off.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: Yes, show me a guy. Yes, but all that shit
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: is dark. But it's my life. I've always wrote my life.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: I didn't ever have to say things to really shock anybody,
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: but I've done it in my career to where I
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: talk about nipples and noodles and ship this in my mine.
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. Because I'm a horror fan,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: you know, but I've never looked at myself in that
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: horror genre like Grave Diggers or when it when WU
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: Tang them did it Netcrow? I don't really know if
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: Neckro did that all really know?
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: But no, yeah, but Grave Diggers with Prince Paul and Rizza, Yeah.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I'm saying,
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: flatliners and all the mothers I've never done. I never
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: aspire to be that.
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: Yeah. I feel like KOD was like, if you're in
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: a dark place because of what you're going through with
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: your with your mind, like you're going to create a
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: dark So.
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: With the face paint and the Bishops Robe. They thought
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: horror core, you know what I'm saying, And that's what
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: people were like.
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: I'm just curious, Like you're such a visionary, like at
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: a certain point in time, like I can see you
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: like executive, Like I don't know if it's directing or
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: executive producing horror movies or or just getting into like
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: flashing out some of these ideas you have.
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: I got with Joseph Bashara. He's the composer for you know,
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: the music for the Conjuring, for Annabelle, for Insidious, he's
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: the Red Devil and Insidious. Joseph We've worked a couple
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: of times on music and I, you know, would Rob Pryor.
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: I've built with him, you know, on images coming out
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: of my head. You know, he's a comic book artist,
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, one of the best. I've
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: talked to him about getting stuff out of my head,
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: and he's drawn things are creatures that come out of
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: my head, and we got it in our books and
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: stuff like that. But I haven't done it on a
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: level to where I took time to stop touring with
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: Tech nine and writing albums commitment. That's a big commitment
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: to do movies. You know what I mean. You know,
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: acting feels weird to me. I've done a few. I've
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: done The Devil's Carnival with Darren Bousman, you know what
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: I'm saying. And I've done one back in the day
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: with Denny Treyo called Vengeance. You know. I've done the
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: Life of Lucky Cucumber with the Jackass Dudes. You know
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But every time I've done it, people
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: say I do it well, but I feel weird. I
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: feel weird trying to be somebody else, and I feel
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: comfortable doing music though.
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: So directing out of the comfort zone. No, no, No, directing
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: is good, but acting, no.
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, I would say, yeah, I
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: mean I think like, I just feel like, if you
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: know you have the you have it in you to
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: do it. Yes, I do, Yes, I do.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: I just I just wrote seventeen episodes for my audio
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: series fifty sixteen four US, so it's going in that direction.
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: I love it. Yeah, man, did you ever really let
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: a stripper burn you on the arm with a cigarette?
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: Look at it? That's okay, Look at that, man.
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: That's that's a cigarette. Ten times in a row. If
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: you see me, do uh am? I psycho on stage?
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: On stage, I'm holding my mic and I'm pointing at it.
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: Why do I let the stripper burn me on my
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: arm with a cigarette and the saint about ten times
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: on the road. And I feel that when I feel
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: that burner, palm could arrest I'm gonna yeah, yeah, it's
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: right there. That was in my high day that night.
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: Like it's like a couple It happened a couple of
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: times right there. Happened a couple of times. Then the
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: room I realized it was damaging my beautiful skin. Yeah,
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: no ship and I'm like, I can't. I gotta stop this. Yeah,
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: you know, I was on big XD back then, big shrooms,
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: big g hb out of all. You know what I'm
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: saying all the one time, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: liquor everything all at once. I'm still here. That's crazy.
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: I'm still here.
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: Thank god. You you weren't You weren't on those runs
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: when Fetanah was so prevalent.
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: Oh no, no, I never. I never putting none.
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: I know back then. Though, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: Ecstasy now is pressing pressed with fantom.
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: Yea, yeah, yeah, everything, you know what I mean, crazy,
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: you gotta be.
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: Just be super super careful these days. If you're partying, Damn,
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: you can only eat rooms and smoke.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: You see that, you see you see you see that,
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: you see that. That's That's when I was being a
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: fucking weirdo and fire against my skin in my mind
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: felt great, right, but my skin, my skin, my skin
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: would be pink and bleeding. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: The night for sure, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: She got she's smoking, sitting next to me. She's right here,
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: I got my handles. Man, I'm like hit me with
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: it every time, and she's like, you know all remembers,
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: like you're fucking freaky, Like shut up, just keep burning me.
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: What's next for a Strange? Strange music obviously is a powerhouse.
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: I mean, I know, you know you guys can kind
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: of switch to like more of a distro model recently.
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it goes up.
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: What is what is next for for Strange Man?
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: Next for Strange just fifty eight sixteen? Next for Strangers,
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: ISO's new album X Rated. You know what I'm saying,
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: Hush Joey cool j Jerry Robinson. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: We're not slowing down, bro, Bro, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: They I'm getting I'm getting way more polished with my writing.
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: I'm getting better with my songs period. And we're all elite.
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: When I say we all, I mean all my artist
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: and myself. I didn't eat no breakfast today, man.
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: Makes two of us. I'm off a fucking energy.
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: But this was the first thing I had to do.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: They don't even have no fucking water in my room
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: when I was in Australia. Man, Yet they have water.
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: You can go in the mini bar and get two waters.
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: And I ain't got shit in this but anyway, they
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: just want nigga die. But anyway, it's next for strange. Man,
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: it's we're doing bigger tours. Man, We're doing better music.
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: No sign of slowing down, man, You know what I'm saying.
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: Was there ever any truth I had heard and you
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: tell me this is true or not that you guys
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: had talked about maybe signing Bone Thugs and Harmony at
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: a certain point in time. Was that ever sniffed around about? Like,
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: was that ever anything that almost happened?
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: I don't remember this. I don't remember this. I know
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: we're on tour with them and O three and we've
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: done you know, shows together lately, but uh, I don't
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: think they ever needed it.
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's fair.
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: I don't think they ever needed it.
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: What was there ever, anybody who you guys were talking
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: to who I mean, obviously, I feel like jelly Roll
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: is a big example of somebody who kind of came
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: on board with the distro side early on when you
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: guys started the distro thing and it turned into you
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: know what we see now? Yeah, yeah, shout out to yeah, yeah,
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: for sure.
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: For sure, for sure, fucking Grammys and shit?
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: Was there ever any artists who almost did a strange
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: deal who just for whatever reason just never hop.
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: Hopson pre funk volume Yes, Wow, Hopson and Dame came
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: into the office.
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: Wow. What I'm saying.
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: Travels was trying to get me to listen to Snow
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: the product for two years before I did, Please, man,
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: listen to this. I never did.
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: And look Grammy nominated, Latin Grammy nominated. She's She's on Yeah, Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: that's one of my favorite songs on the album.
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: She's On a Cosm. You know what I'm saying the
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: later is she on I'm trying to think a lot
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: of ship. She's on a lot of shit with you. Yes,
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: she on one with me and Russ. That's my favorite
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: right on the album. Yeah, man, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: I think we could have had Snow. You know what
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: I'm saying. I don't know why. I don't know what
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: I was doing in my life that I never listened
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: and and that's why we've been We've been connected since
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: way back in the day, right, I mean Snow, man.
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: I think she's an elite lyricist, but she's a songwriter, man,
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: And she's diverse.
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: Yes, she is man like, she could do anything that.
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: She's crazy and she's so like, she's like she could
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: hold her fucking own.
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: It's like a mother.
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: Fight.
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: Always put her at the end of our wrap and everybody.
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: That's why I always put her at the end of
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: the song crazy. On my last song, I got Kevin
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: Gates on it. It's called ZOD It's me Joey Cool,
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: Kevin Gates and Snow. At the end, he says, she said,
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: not take put me on the last verse again.
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: She start off like that you know what she's worthy
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: of that ship?
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: Did did you?
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: Guys? Ever?
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: You know who I when Funk Volume broke up, somebody
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: who's a close friend of mine, who I think toward
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: with you guys too. Jared Benton's like my brother. I
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: love that. I felt like it would have been perfect,
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: like a perfect marriage because Jared Benton is is also
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: like very like he's a crazy bastard.
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: Well he is. But when when Hop and Dame broke,
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: I didn't want everybody to come to Strange. That would
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: have been ship like that. A lot of people when
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: the when the split happened with a Brainstick and Iso,
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: they's like, but you said you wouldn't sign them niggas
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: from Funk Volume, but you signed Iso. I was like,
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: Iso was a different thing than me because they fell
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: out because of me, because I did bad juju with Iso,
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: and then the bad blood started after that, you know
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So I felt like I owed Io
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: what he wanted from Strange, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: So he wanted to tour with us. I got a
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: net and I was always talking to twisting and saying
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: in between that, Like you know what I'm saying. We
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: have texted. He's like, that was the kick in the
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: that was the kick in the gut. I'm like, no, man,
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: don't look at it like that. Man, I'm just trying
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: to help young brother. You know what I'm saying. This,
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: that and the other and but the funk volume thing.
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: I just didn't want that, you know, would hop to
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: be like, damn, man' just gonna take all my artists.
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: That makes sense. That makes sense, Worldwide Choppers, would you
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: do another one?
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: It another one? It's called speed Him with eminem Now.
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: I mean another one. I know that speed Him is
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: like I keep in mind.
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: I had people slated for speed Him. You know, I'm like,
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: I had Daddy Yankee. Really, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: I was, I was in contact, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: I wanted Nicki Minaj. I wanted Kool Egga from Germany.
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: I wanted.
- 1:43:24Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you this, I'm sad that we never
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: got rits on a worldwide Choppers. Don't worry, but listen.
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: I wanted Gabby gabb female artists from Atlanta. She had
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: already sent her verse in for Speed Him. I had
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: all these people. I had more people slated. You know
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: I just can't remember what's Eminem calls though. It's like,
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: hey guys, this is something.
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: This is Travis saying, Man, you cannot put all those
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: people that people don't you know on the song with
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: Eminem and you you know, he just wanted to be
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: me and Eminem. But Chris Calico said, I got to
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: get some of that, bro. I had to give it
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: to Chris Calico. I never listened to his verse. I
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: didn't want to be influenced. And after I did my verse,
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: I did my intro. You know what I'm saying, because
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: I knew once I sent it an m it's so dope,
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: he's gonna do it. So I'm talking about him in
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: the first little eight bars. I guess not because he'd
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: be the guest spot. You know what I'm saying. I knew,
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So I did my verse
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: and I did my last verse with all the el's,
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: I'm theory of the final fight. I figuring on fight
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: audit and send it to him. Travis's like, man, we
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: got to cut all the other people out, man, So
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: when we dropped it, it was speed them worldwide choppers too,
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: So the fans are like, this is not Worldwide Choppers.
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, I'm not.
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: The spirit of the first one.
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: They was upset, but they had to give it up though.
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: I had to like have a rebuttle, like we're the
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: dopest rappers worldwide, so so.
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: You know in the world.
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know it was bullshit. Yeah. So
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: like in the last three years, Like three years ago,
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: David Banner was sending me beats and he sent me
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: this Annie Lynox beat man, this dun d D. I said.
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: I was like, oh my god, I found a new
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: world wide Choppers. But it was something. It was another
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: ship that was in the beat that we couldn't get
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: clarity on the clearances, you know what I'm saying. So
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: I never got to do it. And I'm like, now
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: I could bring NICKI Minaj back, I can finally get
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: Daddy Yankee, and I can finally get j I D
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: And I can finally get you know what I'm saying,
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: whoever want to go. You know what I'm saying, whoever
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: want to go? You know, I can get Foster from Nigeria.
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. All these choppers all over
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: the world, man, you know what I'm saying, Fucking hurricane
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: finally from Kansas City.
- 1:45:42Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: Just suss Mace, you know, from Topeka, just all these people.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, King Ioul haven't been on
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: one yet. You know what I'm saying. And who would
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: you say, rits haven't been on one? You know what
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: I'm saying, Just do one? You know. So as it
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: stands now, if a beat is worthy, because I said,
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: it's on the table, because I said, I said, me
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: and my nigga twist the ruler and this it at
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: the end of speed on. Because everybody who's done it
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: thus far from Eminem to everybody, from k Deane to
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: Crazy Bone to who de lo can dilemma, all the
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: people Chris Calico, all of them in are in my
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: circle of choppers. So I said, if you ain't in
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: my circle of choppers, you missed it. Because me and
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: my doing nigga twist the ruler and this is it.
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: This is it. You know what I'm saying. And uh
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: I said that. But now I'm thinking, if I find
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: the right beat, nigga, We're gonna go again. We're gonna
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: go again. World wid Choppers three. Fuck that, you know
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: what I'm saying, because I'm getting more crispy, and you know,
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: I'm tired of racing motherfuckers, but I'm down to race still.
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: I'm just tired of racing, motherfucker. Everybody to send me
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: a track, want me to race. I'm so tired of racing.
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: It's almost like when they think, oh this is we
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: need to put Tech nine on this one.
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: Hurt me on the fucking n F track. Trust yeah, everybody,
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: no nomber death bring up. I'm just going, man, you
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Everybody want to race? You know
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: what I'm saying. The one with me and Chris Webby,
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: we just did feel like it.
- 1:47:11Speaker 2: I feel like Mexican OT could chop two pretty crazy.
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: Mexican Ot is another one. Mexican O two is another one.
- 1:47:16Speaker 2: Mexican Yeah, I met him.
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: MEXICANOT is indeed a chopper is one that I would
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: call for sure.
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: So if the beat steps up, the beat has to
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: be massive because all the world wide choppers from Midwest
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: Choppers one to Mike West Choppers two to Worldwide Choppers
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: to Worldward Choppers two speed them. These beats are massive bullshit.
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: That's beat to send motherfuckers.
- 1:47:40Speaker 2: Man.
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: You know, I really I know NICKI Minaj can do
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: that ship. You know what I'm saying. I know that.
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: Let me see, I know that. Uh, Denzel Curry can
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: do it.
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: Logic can do it.
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: Yeah, Logic can do it. He had a, he had a,
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: he had a he had a chance to do it
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: on Rocha. Yeah, he didn't do it after a Joiner though,
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: But then they got together afterwards and did one together
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: and was hard. Yes sir, yes, yes sir, yes sir,
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: but forget he can do it for sure.
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: Do you and Chris talk still a lot?
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: Or it was my brother beyond music?
- 1:48:14Speaker 2: I love Chris Man.
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Man, you know what I'm saying. You know all
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: the time, you know what I'm saying. I got him
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: in my phone under son of Sam because his name
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: is Samuel Christopher William Washington or Sammy William Christopher Watson,
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And I called him a
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: son of Sam because his dad's name was Sam. You
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Chris the best always Son of
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: Sam is in my favorites.
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Yeah, that was like when
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: when you guys had that moment at Red Rocks. It
- 1:48:36Speaker 2: felt good just because I know both of y'all.
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: And then he just came out and surprised everybody and
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: did Anxiety with the Casey Orchestra with me Casey Symphony.
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: He came out at the end and they fucking blew
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: the fucking place up. And I like doing shit like
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: that because people think that when people leave it's bad blood.
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: But Cosm, you know that it's no bad blood. You
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Not at all. It's just people
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: going on their own to leave something for their children. Yep,
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Because me and Trave already
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: got strange music for our children and our families, you
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So motherfuckers want to go on
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: their own to start something on their own, like may Day.
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying today?
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, man, you know what I mean. And they're
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: still on. It goes up all day, all day, So
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: no bad blood at all. Scatter managed snowb brim all
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: that ship, man, you know what I'm saying. I don't
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: know if Travis and Cuddle ever rekindle.
- 1:49:32Speaker 2: Hopefully one day. Yeah, time hotel I've never seen never
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: would be nice to see all on stage one more time.
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: I think. Cut he's like a minister now, man, I
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: don't know if he'll do that.
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: He said, he said he was battling demons and ship
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: when he was with me, you know, And.
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: I mean he was also with you in probably the
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: wildest times. Oh yeah, yeah, oh yeah.
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: So if he looks at strange music as he's going
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: to have to battle demons war, I don't I don't know.
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: I don't expect, I don't suspect that he will even
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: think about doing this.
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: I heard he was driving the church van and all
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: that kind of shit. So who's to say that he
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: would even want to do anything like that.
- 1:50:13Speaker 2: You know, that's a fair point, man.
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: And make no mistake, there's no demons over here. It's
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: only angel baby worldly angel or angel babies. Make no mistake.
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: The demons and the angels are within ourselves, you know
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And we have to we have to
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: figure out which ones are we going to give power.
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: Can you tell me what's been different about being a
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: dad at this point in time of your life than
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: being a dad at an earlier stage in your life.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: When I had two children at twenty two. Aliah was
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: the first. Dantees was right after I hit the road
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: like crazy. That's why I made the rain and O six. Yep,
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: it's hurt me that I was missing birthdays and missing
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: graduations and all this kind of thing. Now that we
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: had Alena doing less shows, bigger shows and less let's dates,
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: I'm home more and it made me realize how much
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: time I didn't have with my children that are thirty
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: now and twenty six and thirty one and all that
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: kind of shit. I have more time now at home,
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: and it sucks that my kids had to endure my absence.
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: But there I'm sure like they also probably appreciate. I mean,
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: you say you have sacrifice tattooed on your I mean yeah, you.
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: Know, and they we have a brand new relationship. You know.
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: For a while, me and my first Aaliyah, she was like,
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: not on my team. She was like not pro daddy,
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, And for a good reason.
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: And lately in the last year she said, Dad, it's like,
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: you're all this new person. Now I don't have any
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: more insults for you. And I'm like, I'm sure you'll
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: find something soon.
- 1:51:54Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: Really good, man, really good. We're starting a new chapter
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: with Aliyah, Rainbow and Dantees And now Lina's here and
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: my wife has Bella Isabella. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: She's she's going on seventeen and we're all a family, man,
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: and it's time to start creating new memories.
- 1:52:16Speaker 2: I love that. Man. Yeah. Well look Tech, the new
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: album is.
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: On the way, the sixteenth Forest, This summer new tour
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: is coming. Yes, yes, sir, Hollywood and nine tour. I
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: might be going back with Ronnie Rocky soon, you know
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: And then you got something going on with the World Cup.
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I did the World Cup Sonic. I d
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: for k C. Man, you know what I'm saying. That
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: was a flex, you know. And they chose me. They
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: called FIFA called me. That's strange. Talked to Travis and said,
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: we love Red Kingdom and we love what y'all do.
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: We want Tech. They didn't want words. They thought I
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: was a producer. Wow, So I'm like, uh, write, I
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: write songs. Yeah, That's why I'm the only ID that
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: has lyrics, right, you know what I mean, because we
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: pushed it, like listen to this, you know what I mean.
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: And I fucking did Tech nine on it, you know
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: what I mean. And they loved it, and they I
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: did five different versions and that fifth one they said, yes,
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: that's dope. I had too much in the hook. I guess.
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: I feel like you and Travy eventually are gonna own
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: the pieces of Royals or the Chiefs or something.
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: Everybody say you need to run from Mayor. I'm like,
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: I don't know if I want that job.
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: No, you just got to either bring an NBA team
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: to Kansas City or or or you know, buy a
- 1:53:37Speaker 2: chunk of the Royals or something, yeah.
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: Man, or build my amusement park strange Land man or
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: that yeah yeah, yeah.
- 1:53:44Speaker 2: You guys got so much other building.
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: I'm building roller coasters in my notebook, man, I've been
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: doing it for the last four years. I'm like, but
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: it's so it's so intricate, man. And if I saw
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: short of the drawing, man, you're laugh like, an this
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: is ship I've never seen. And my daughter I was
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: going through my pages. It's like the fact that you're
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: even trying something like this on paper is crazy. Dad.
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: I'm like, I know, I'm to go to sleep. I
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: was doing my mantra this roller coaster I see, I'm
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: going through the motions of what it does and how
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: it goes up and goes down this hole and cone
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: at the bottom that you go down and around and
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: it's crazy. I'm I'm asleep by the time it goes
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: back around. It goes frontwards and then it goes backwards.
- 1:54:27Speaker 2: You know, I feel like you guys could do. I
- 1:54:29Speaker 2: feel like if you curated a yearly haunted experience. Of course,
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: like all you know you go to haunted houses.
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: Yeah, of course we went up that could be a Halloween,
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: that could be a strange music Halloween. Before last, me
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: and my wife and some friends we went down to
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: Universal Cities in Orlando.
- 1:54:44Speaker 2: Right, you go to the Halloween hornits right.
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: And the weekend had a fucking hunter house.
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: Dude, he's had a hundred house three or street. That's
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: fucking crazy, insane.
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: And you can see all these ones where you know,
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: you have the boh and all of them are jumping
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: out at you. I'm like, I do people are gonna
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: be fucking petrified, homie.
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: No, but I'm saying like you could do it in
- 1:55:04Speaker 2: case of course, Yeah, I think that would be crazy.
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: I just need to take time.
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: It's about the time still doing music. It's about the time.
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: It's about time.
- 1:55:11Speaker 2: It's about the time, man. So well listen, brother, I

- 1:55:25Speaker 2: This one was the first time I ever had you
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: on my show was in two thousand and nine and
- 1:55:29Speaker 2: Boise Idaho you Wouldn't Merge came in freestyled, Yeah, and
- 1:55:32Speaker 2: you did. Uh. I forget which verse you did you did?
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:55:36Speaker 2: It was one of the verses off Tech Night Collapse,
- 1:55:38Speaker 2: probably where you were I forget yeah too. But yeah, man,
- 1:55:43Speaker 2: it's been, it's been. It's been dope to just.
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: A long time. It's been. It's been good to see
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: your ascension.

- 1:56:02Speaker 1: connection with all the new the new guys too.
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: That's what I always say. I'm like, yo, like I
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: like feel like when it comes to like a certain
- 1:56:10Speaker 2: like pocket of the underground world that I kind of
- 1:56:13Speaker 2: came up pushing, it's like my responsibility to be like Yo,
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: Yellow hangout for the Mexicano TA interview we're about to do.
- 1:56:20Speaker 2: You were there that night? Oh, like, oh you were there?
- 1:56:23Speaker 2: I was fucked. Yeah, you know it's like like, you know, like,
- 1:56:29Speaker 2: how how can I try to bring like either artists
- 1:56:32Speaker 2: who I feel like would be dope to that world
- 1:56:36Speaker 2: or just you know, shine light to like right to
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: some of these guys who are you know, I consider
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: to be goats? You like yourself? You know, I appreciate it.
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: Man.
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: Do you feel like you get the recognition and the
- 1:56:47Speaker 2: greatest of all time convo? I'm sure you don't give
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: a fuck, but I'm not.
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: I don't get that recognition because, uh, I don't need
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: I don't need it. I don't need I don't need
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: I don't need thatccolades from anybody. I just do music
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: and if people like it, I love it. You know
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: what I'm saying, And I don't need validation from people
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: or the culture or anything. You know what I'm saying,
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: But I would like it.
- 1:57:20Speaker 2: No, I know you would like it. I know, I
- 1:57:22Speaker 2: know like it. I mean you like it?
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I mean? And uh, I mean fragile.
- 1:57:27Speaker 2: One of your biggest records is literally about people critiquing.
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: Yes, sir, yes, sir, yes sir. That's why I took
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: the time to do that on a song like that,
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: and it blew up on the radio. I had no idea,
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: But I don't need it, but I'd like it, you
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, because I put a lot into
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: what I write. You know what I mean. I always have.
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: And over the years, you hear all the new generation
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: talking about Tech nine. That's the validation right there. You
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. You hear you know, L Russell
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: talking about Tech nine. You hear Russtop about Tech nine.
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: You hear all these people, Playboy CARDI. You know what
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: I'm saying. You hear all these people. I just met
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: Offset at the super Bowl and as soon as he
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: said Tech nine, he looked, he smiled, and he said, legend, man, Legend,
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. It's like, that's validation right there.
- 1:58:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's almost like all that other shit you would like,
- 1:58:18Speaker 2: but that is as rewarding to hear from from the peers,
- 1:58:22Speaker 2: from your peers and from like a whole new generation
- 1:58:24Speaker 2: that aren't necessarily your peers.
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: And them to do a song for you, like to speed.
- 1:58:28Speaker 2: The man that's val doesn't do a song for anybody, No, man,
- 1:58:31Speaker 2: for sure, you damn you gotta signed to him to
- 1:58:33Speaker 2: get a burse.
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: All that's is validation. You know what I'm saying, Two chains, Bob,
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: All that shit is validation. Yeah, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: Kendrick Lamar is validation.
- 1:58:40Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: We shooting the video in Kansas City for Fragile. We're
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: sitting in this super cold outside, so Travis got his
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: RV down there and we're in the RV trying to
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: warm up from the top is with him and he's
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: like tech Fragile's dope. Man. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: That's Kendrick talking to me, and I'm like, thank you, brother.
- 1:58:57Speaker 2: It's been cool to see just topped off evolve as
- 1:59:01Speaker 2: this like powerhouse. Right. It's it's it's it's insane. And
- 1:59:08Speaker 2: and I I mean, and I'm sure if you asked
- 1:59:10Speaker 2: top he took I'm sure a lot of inspiration and
- 1:59:14Speaker 2: he learned a lot. I learned a lot from his
- 1:59:16Speaker 2: experience with with y'all and putting out that J rock album.
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: Man, yes, sir, And what's happening to them? Man? Him
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: and Punch and all them is? Uh is astronomical? Man?
- 1:59:28Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: And Kendrick is beyond the Stars.
- 1:59:32Speaker 2: And then it's like removed Kendrick all that all the
- 1:59:36Speaker 2: Stars is. I don't know if you heard her album is.
- 1:59:42Speaker 1: She Is a Monster?
- 1:59:43Speaker 2: Is my favorite album last year?
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: And and and and dude, how do they find these motherfuckers?
- 1:59:50Speaker 2: She's an alien creatively.
- 1:59:52Speaker 3: Man fucking lyrically inclined, conceptualistically incline. It's so c MC
- 2:00:01Speaker 3: song stress everything.
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: Man.
- 2:00:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, damn, like, y'all really got whoever? Like
- 2:00:07Speaker 2: you know? Shouts to uh top Son Musa's who I
- 2:00:10Speaker 2: believe signed? Uh Dochi? Really yeah, Musa signed do I?
- 2:00:15Speaker 2: So it's like, man, good, that's a grab right there
- 2:00:17Speaker 2: out of Tampa too. She's out of here, man, she
- 2:00:20Speaker 2: is out of here? Yes, yes, yes, yeah, Well listen brother.
- 2:00:24Speaker 2: I appreciate you. Uh man, I'm just I'm a fan
- 2:00:27Speaker 2: bro first, you know, and obviously her my friend and
- 2:00:30Speaker 2: and uh, you know, I feel like a lot of
- 2:00:34Speaker 2: a lot of people if you're getting into the music industry,
- 2:00:37Speaker 2: like you're watching this and you may be like, man,
- 2:00:40Speaker 2: it's the first I heard of tech. Like, hey, man, like,
- 2:00:41Speaker 2: if you go take this rap shit series, you got
- 2:00:44Speaker 2: to like study what you do.
- 2:00:46Speaker 1: Exactly for real. Yeah, it's a blessed position being.
- 2:00:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like when I think of all this independent ship,
- 2:00:53Speaker 2: it's like hot all of a sudden, I'm like, man.
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: They but just don't don't think like that, because they
- 2:00:59Speaker 1: all to me and say, if it wasn't for you,
- 2:01:03Speaker 1: for sure, man, you showed us early on. Man, they
- 2:01:06Speaker 1: all say it, they all give they all give it up.
- 2:01:07Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, man, you change I mean, whether I mean,
- 2:01:09Speaker 2: I'm sure you know, but you changed the rap game
- 2:01:11Speaker 2: for real, whether or not as sonic sonically or but
- 2:01:14Speaker 2: the business of rap music has changed because the.
- 2:01:16Speaker 1: Strange track record that's untouchable.
- 2:01:21Speaker 2: Shout out to Travis two, who's got way too many cars.
- 2:01:23Speaker 2: He should let me have one, and uh he's waiting
- 2:01:25Speaker 2: those cars.
- 2:01:26Speaker 1: Man, he's in the car business.
- 2:01:27Speaker 2: I want to give shot out to Travis two for
- 2:01:28Speaker 2: being the buffet old man. They don't just the cars
- 2:01:30Speaker 2: from that motherfucker. He's lifting a lot of weights. Oh yes,
- 2:01:33Speaker 2: he is jacked.
- 2:01:34Speaker 1: He ain't. He ain't big trave no more.
- 2:01:36Speaker 2: Yeah. You know what's so funny is like I don't
- 2:01:38Speaker 2: think people would understand because early tech shows Travis would
- 2:01:41Speaker 2: be on stage of security is certain shows you'll still
- 2:01:44Speaker 2: see him standing. Will you ever bring the face paint back?
- 2:01:50Speaker 2: Because that's it, that's a commitment. You got to have
- 2:01:52Speaker 2: the face paint guy on on. I forget that over
- 2:01:54Speaker 2: the years. I forget the old guy who used to
- 2:01:56Speaker 2: paint your face. Yeah. Scenario, yeah, scenario, that's right.
- 2:01:58Speaker 1: Scenario before scenario that was Craig David. He died before.
- 2:02:02Speaker 1: The very first was Brian Dennis, he died. You know
- 2:02:06Speaker 1: what I'm saying. My last was second to the last
- 2:02:11Speaker 1: was Jose Ramirez. He quit. He wanted to be at
- 2:02:14Speaker 1: home with his little girl, Millie, you know what I'm saying,
- 2:02:16Speaker 1: to raise her, which is noble. And then on my
- 2:02:19Speaker 1: lapt my fifth one was Ubi from Sess Crew. He's
- 2:02:23Speaker 1: too massive of an artist to be following me around
- 2:02:29Speaker 1: and over the years started you know, Brian Dinnis started
- 2:02:33Speaker 1: the skull face. Then I just started doing my forehead,
- 2:02:36Speaker 1: but over the years turned into my whole face and
- 2:02:38Speaker 1: my whole head. That shit takes three hours every night.
- 2:02:42Speaker 2: I feel like when you did the mask, it was
- 2:02:44Speaker 2: a perfect compromise.
- 2:02:45Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying, take it off. Called Corey Taylor.
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: I said, listen, man, I can't afford to keep taking,
- 2:02:53Speaker 1: not money wise, but like the time, because the time.
- 2:02:56Speaker 1: I can't afford the time, and you be being an
- 2:02:58Speaker 1: artist that's on the incline. I cannot. Hey, man, we
- 2:03:01Speaker 1: got to go to fucking UK if you could paint
- 2:03:03Speaker 1: my face and he got to have his shit held up?
- 2:03:06Speaker 2: No, who's making the slipknop mask? Give me there?
- 2:03:08Speaker 1: Saying no, I called Corey Taylor and I said, listen, man,
- 2:03:12Speaker 1: I need a mask that can endure a two hour
- 2:03:15Speaker 1: fucking show. And y'all the only ones I know that
- 2:03:18Speaker 1: got him for sure, he said, Jake Rounjass California, gave
- 2:03:23Speaker 1: me the number. I've been fucking with Jake on like,
- 2:03:26Speaker 1: I think we've had three or four different versions of
- 2:03:31Speaker 1: the clown thus far.
- 2:03:32Speaker 2: You know, what I'm saying, that's dope.
- 2:03:35Speaker 1: And uh, I think for a show maybe.
- 2:03:39Speaker 2: Maybe for the thirty video. What about for the thirty
- 2:03:42Speaker 2: year anniversary.
- 2:03:43Speaker 1: Maybe for a video or something. I'll call Ubi and
- 2:03:46Speaker 1: see if he's in town and will three hours to
- 2:03:49Speaker 1: do my fucking whole head.
- 2:03:51Speaker 2: I feel like y'all got to do like a crazy
- 2:03:52Speaker 2: show for the thirty years. The thirty years are strange.
- 2:03:56Speaker 1: That shit used to burn my eyes like crazy. Oh,
- 2:03:58Speaker 1: I bet know what I'm saying. So the Silicon mask
- 2:04:02Speaker 1: man really helps me?
- 2:04:04Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure? For sure. I can only imagine I'd
- 2:04:06Speaker 2: be like, damn like that shit is a commitment every night, yeah, man,
- 2:04:09Speaker 2: Yeah for sure.
- 2:04:11Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, every night, three hours. The last gathering we did,
- 2:04:16Speaker 1: he had to paint my face three hours before I
- 2:04:18Speaker 1: went on outside back in here.
- 2:04:19Speaker 2: Walking around sweating before the show. Anyway, for sure, man.
- 2:04:22Speaker 1: It's hard, hard to do, hard to deal with the
- 2:04:24Speaker 1: face plants, A hard commitment because the way I see
- 2:04:27Speaker 1: the clown morphing, it keeps getting worse and worse every year.
- 2:04:31Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying in my mind, You know
- 2:04:32Speaker 1: what I'm saying. With the corrosion and everything. So I
- 2:04:35Speaker 1: don't know, man, maybe I'll sit down for three hours.
- 2:04:38Speaker 1: I won't say never though, right I like it? Man, Well, listen, Tech,
- 2:04:41Speaker 1: I appreciate you pulling up by the album. This summer
- 2:04:44Speaker 1: tour coming. When's the tour start day after tomorrow? Oh yeah,
- 2:04:49Speaker 1: you're you're locked in?
- 2:04:50Speaker 2: How many from Australia? Like twenty something bad? That's something
- 2:04:55Speaker 2: light for you, twenty five? Anything under forty is light
- 2:04:59Speaker 2: work for you. Ain't for sure, you know what I'm saying.
- 2:05:03Speaker 2: So hey, man, Tech, go go see him on on
- 2:05:05Speaker 2: the road. The new record is out right now too,
- 2:05:07Speaker 2: so you can go support to the new singles out

- 2:05:16Speaker 2: Yes, yes, the technicality new record RDV is the new song.
- 2:05:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's out.
