- 0:09Speaker 1: his time. Now for car Talker right here on K one,
- 0:11Speaker 1: the one he trusts Brad done, just done, just Toyota
- 0:14Speaker 1: is weird with us.
- 0:15Speaker 2: It's sunshiny. That means it's Thursday or something.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Well, yeah it is yea. And for car talk good
- 0:20Speaker 3: morning friends, thank you for joining us this morning. We're
- 0:23Speaker 3: so glad you're with us. Bur Man, this wonder weather is.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Sure the roller coaster continues.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Yes, hello, Philip, right from the boy Scouts here in Bartlesville,
- 0:34Speaker 3: the Cherchy Area Council is. Uh, it's a busy time
- 0:38Speaker 3: of year for you guys getting ready for Friends of Scouting.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and I saw the uh the Pinewood Derby
- 0:45Speaker 3: season is getting going and uh.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Yeah yeah that was I remember those days with my
- 0:51Speaker 2: boys and it was a lot of fun those races.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Definitely enjoyed that it is.
- 0:57Speaker 3: It's a great time for for a family to get
- 1:00Speaker 3: together and work on a project.
- 1:01Speaker 4: And we talk about with teaching physics in the first grade,
- 1:05Speaker 4: because it stays with you about your life.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it really is is a lesson and you know,
- 1:10Speaker 3: as a father and a son is working together on
- 1:14Speaker 3: the project there.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Yeah, it is cool.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's one of those projects that just stays
- 1:18Speaker 4: with you year after year after year. Even after you
- 1:21Speaker 4: age out, you still remember those you have those great memories.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Sure.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Yeah, but winter weather won't stop that for sure. We've
- 1:30Speaker 3: got a lot of stuff coming up next week I
- 1:32Speaker 3: mentioned friends of scouting. We've got the Washington County Junior
- 1:35Speaker 3: Livestock Show, uh to starting Thursday, I believe or and
- 1:40Speaker 3: uh that'll be a big event, always is. And then
- 1:44Speaker 3: this this this weekend before all that, we've got young
- 1:47Speaker 3: scholars at Bartlesville and they're uncorre your support event. And
- 1:52Speaker 3: uh I saw this morning the tickets are are they
- 1:55Speaker 3: stop selling tickets? So I assume they're pretty much sold
- 1:58Speaker 3: out at this point, and and that that was their goal,
- 2:01Speaker 3: I know. And it should be a big, big night
- 2:04Speaker 3: Saturday night.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I tell you, that's the kind of lucky you really
- 2:07Speaker 1: want to have being it sold out? Are almost over sold?
- 2:10Speaker 3: Yeah, No, it's such a great event. And there's so
- 2:12Speaker 3: much good stuff going on around in Bartosville and so
- 2:15Speaker 3: much focused on our youth and the kids around here,
- 2:18Speaker 3: and that's that's a great thing we'd love to help
- 2:21Speaker 3: help promote and so tell us about this year's Scouting fundraiser.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I know it's such an important event for you raise
- 2:29Speaker 3: a lot of money, but it's also kind of a
- 2:31Speaker 3: time to celebrate everything that you guys have done in
- 2:34Speaker 3: the last year.
- 2:35Speaker 4: So I want to say thank you for having us
- 2:37Speaker 4: on your show. And so next week, literally next week
- 2:40Speaker 4: week from today is our patron dinner. This is where
- 2:43Speaker 4: we jumps taught our fundraising campaign for Scouting right here
- 2:46Speaker 4: to check here of council and we have right now
- 2:49Speaker 4: where we're looking. And we still have spaces for sponsorships.
- 2:53Speaker 4: It's easy to have sponsorship. Just call us at the
- 2:55Speaker 4: office nine one eight three three staates nine one seven
- 2:57Speaker 4: zero or which is online, or come by the office,
- 3:01Speaker 4: especially when it's no that I was coming in field.
- 3:03Speaker 4: But more importantly, we're celebrating Scouting and twenty twenty four
- 3:08Speaker 4: was a great year. We want to say a big,
- 3:11Speaker 4: big thank you to all of our community members, our donors,
- 3:15Speaker 4: United Way, our Scouts, our community. We ended up twenty
- 3:20Speaker 4: twenty four number three in the nation and female diversity.
- 3:25Speaker 4: It's amazing. We were just so honored and it goes
- 3:30Speaker 4: back to show the leadership, the level of leadership that
- 3:32Speaker 4: we have our Scout leaders, the work, the quality program
- 3:37Speaker 4: that they're providing for our youth today, and we ended
- 3:40Speaker 4: up also over two percent market share. One of the
- 3:42Speaker 4: standard is to be above two percent market share for
- 3:45Speaker 4: the seven year in a row. We're above two percent
- 3:47Speaker 4: market share. So we're serving our community. We're trying to
- 3:50Speaker 4: grow more Scouting and this patron dinner gives it the
- 3:53Speaker 4: chance to jump start and serve more youth.
- 3:57Speaker 5: We also ended the year with seventeen Eagle Scouts.
- 4:00Speaker 4: So proud of the work that Eagle Scouts have done
- 4:02Speaker 4: in twenty twenty four and.
- 4:04Speaker 2: They always have, Yes, a lot.
- 4:08Speaker 4: We're really and and again it's a it's a big
- 4:12Speaker 4: honor to see the community come together to help on
- 4:15Speaker 4: those projects. Uh, to see the work that these young
- 4:18Speaker 4: Scouts have done. It's just amazing.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Thinking about going from that Pinewood Derby all the way
- 4:24Speaker 3: to an Eagle Scout.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Yes, yes, journey less than less than two percent, less
- 4:31Speaker 4: than two percent nationwide, make it to Eagle and here
- 4:35Speaker 4: in this council. The quality leadership that we have with
- 4:37Speaker 4: three times over that average, So that's just amazing. The
- 4:41Speaker 4: leadership of our Scout leaders is just I want to
- 4:43Speaker 4: again just cannot say thank you enough for the work
- 4:45Speaker 4: that they do day in day out with our Scouts,
- 4:48Speaker 4: and that as a as a byproduct of that. For example,
- 4:53Speaker 4: right after the Patron Dinner, which is next Thursday, the
- 4:56Speaker 4: twenty seven, is our Merribag Festival and that's another way
- 5:00Speaker 4: for our Scouts to get work on their merit badges.
- 5:03Speaker 4: And then right after that the following week at the
- 5:05Speaker 4: time with Derby. So we're really just starting a year strong,
- 5:09Speaker 4: very strong, and I just want to say thank you.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Sure.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Well, it's a great program and you guys do impact
- 5:15Speaker 3: you know everything from you know, your recycling program. It
- 5:19Speaker 3: was another thing you guys do all year round. Oh
- 5:22Speaker 3: and you know just it's a it is quite an
- 5:25Speaker 3: impact you have on us here in Bartoshell.
- 5:27Speaker 5: Right, let me tell you where again I want to.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Say thank about community for their support. Four was an
- 5:33Speaker 4: amazing year and sustainability and it all started about four
- 5:37Speaker 4: years ago, very casually, literally thirteen years ago.
- 5:40Speaker 5: Scouting made sustainability.
- 5:42Speaker 4: A required merit badge for every scout going for Eagle
- 5:46Speaker 4: and so Tiffany Cook, one of our staff members, came
- 5:49Speaker 4: as about four years ago and said, look, why don't
- 5:52Speaker 4: we do more as an office. You know, we're non profitable,
- 5:56Speaker 4: why don't we do more? And so that conversation a lot,
- 6:00Speaker 4: along with other partnerships, led us to opening up our
- 6:03Speaker 4: first small recycling center.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:05Speaker 4: We had four super sacks, one for callboard, one for
- 6:10Speaker 4: aluminum aluminum cans, one for plastic, one one for plastic two.
- 6:14Speaker 4: We started very small. In that first year, we did
- 6:17Speaker 4: eleven hundred pounds. We were just so proud of the
- 6:21Speaker 4: effort of the community.
- 6:23Speaker 5: At the time.
- 6:23Speaker 4: And that was in twenty twenty three. The following year,
- 6:28Speaker 4: with all the support from the community, we went up
- 6:30Speaker 4: to five five hundred pounds or recycling materials. That started
- 6:34Speaker 4: to show us again, wow, this is you know, the
- 6:37Speaker 4: community's embracing this.
- 6:40Speaker 5: And then last year in twenty twenty.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Four, as a community, we did over forty thousand pounds.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Wow, so forty thousand pounds times as the year.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Just incredible And I want to say thank you to
- 6:55Speaker 4: our community for recycling with us. I want to say
- 6:57Speaker 4: thank you to our scouts, our parents, our board are
- 7:00Speaker 4: you not away for helping And we're not done yet.
- 7:02Speaker 5: We're still growing.
- 7:03Speaker 4: We're still growing and it's just amazing to see the
- 7:07Speaker 4: impact on the environment that our office is having just
- 7:12Speaker 4: right here on barhone.
- 7:14Speaker 2: That's a neat, neat story that you just told us.
- 7:17Speaker 2: And there you're on.
- 7:18Speaker 3: So many young men and women are in the impacted
- 7:23Speaker 3: by the program. You mentioned your market share, how many
- 7:27Speaker 3: kids are in the council.
- 7:28Speaker 4: Yeah, so we covered six counties. So we're very proud
- 7:32Speaker 4: of the six counties that we cover. And we have
- 7:35Speaker 4: two programs by Explored Program and then we have our
- 7:38Speaker 4: Scout BSA program which includes our cup Scouts that's boys
- 7:43Speaker 4: and girls from kindergarten to fifth grade. And then our
- 7:46Speaker 4: Scout BSA goes from ten and a half all the
- 7:50Speaker 4: way to eighteen. And so in that program we have
- 7:53Speaker 4: we ended last year about six hundred and fourteen.
- 7:56Speaker 5: In that registered Scouts and then.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Where our goal this year in twenty twenty five is
- 8:03Speaker 4: to grow back to over six hundred and fifty. And
- 8:05Speaker 4: so what we're always looking for new churches, new partnerships
- 8:10Speaker 4: because it really takes that.
- 8:12Speaker 2: It does some centers to render gather.
- 8:15Speaker 4: And the correct group leader and the leader leader and
- 8:20Speaker 4: leaders I want to come and get the training.
- 8:22Speaker 2: There is a lot of training.
- 8:24Speaker 4: It's the most critical piece of it is if you
- 8:27Speaker 4: have trained quality leader that that transfers into train quality
- 8:30Speaker 4: program for you.
- 8:32Speaker 5: We can get the youth, but the key is getting
- 8:35Speaker 5: train quality.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Leaders that want to go in and help our youth
- 8:39Speaker 3: and tell me about that process. So say somebody's listening
- 8:42Speaker 3: and say, well I wonder, yeah, I wonder what if
- 8:44Speaker 3: I can do that?
- 8:45Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 8:45Speaker 4: So, uh thanks, great questions. So it's real simple and
- 8:49Speaker 4: starts with a conversation. So, for example, if a church
- 8:53Speaker 4: wants to sponsor and be the charter partner for a
- 8:56Speaker 4: Scouting unit, and literally all it is it's a conversation
- 9:00Speaker 4: where you know, the charter agrees to own the unit
- 9:03Speaker 4: and then that process bring us at least five adults
- 9:08Speaker 4: that we can train and put them to our training process.
- 9:11Speaker 5: And you think about it like cooking.
- 9:13Speaker 4: It takes about if you want to cook a good meal,
- 9:15Speaker 4: it takes a while to start a unit and build
- 9:18Speaker 4: that foundation. It takes about three to six months to
- 9:21Speaker 4: do it right. And so getting getting the charter part
- 9:25Speaker 4: is saying, you know what, I have at least five
- 9:27Speaker 4: adults that are willing to be part of this scouting
- 9:29Speaker 4: program to be on the committee to make sure that
- 9:32Speaker 4: we have leaders, and then we train and we have
- 9:34Speaker 4: a whole group of trainers on the council side that
- 9:37Speaker 4: will come and train the leaders who have a great trainer,
- 9:41Speaker 4: great commission of staff. And then once we have the
- 9:44Speaker 4: foundation of the leaders, then we go and get the youth.
- 9:47Speaker 4: So you aren't even recruit the youth. No, no, the
- 9:50Speaker 4: last beats. Use the last beat because what you want
- 9:52Speaker 4: to do is kind of like building the house. You
- 9:54Speaker 4: want to make sure you have a good foundation, good walls,
- 9:57Speaker 4: good doors, and then a good roof before you bring firn.
- 10:00Speaker 4: And so that's the last piece. It's just about twelve steps.
- 10:04Speaker 4: The first step is owning the unit, the step. The
- 10:08Speaker 4: second step is getting the leaders, and then the third
- 10:11Speaker 4: step is training them. And then once we train them,
- 10:14Speaker 4: that takes about two or three months, then we start
- 10:16Speaker 4: getting ready to bring in it, to bring in the
- 10:18Speaker 4: youth and getting registered and then start the quality program
- 10:23Speaker 4: of taking the smacy out and do the outing, going camp,
- 10:27Speaker 4: going on trips.
- 10:28Speaker 2: And so yeah, I know that is a big part
- 10:30Speaker 2: of it.
- 10:32Speaker 3: You have a beautiful camp out of mclock yeah yeah
- 10:35Speaker 3: really yeah, and famous old camp and we're so proud
- 10:39Speaker 3: of McClintock.
- 10:42Speaker 4: McClintock is only about twenty miles north of Barterersville.
- 10:46Speaker 5: And you know, all of our units that.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Are registered with the Checkory Council get the camp for free.
- 10:52Speaker 4: That's one of the benefits of being a registered unit
- 10:56Speaker 4: in the council is that you get to use the
- 10:58Speaker 4: camp for free, and then you get to plan and
- 11:01Speaker 4: then you get to spend a weekend. For example, this
- 11:02Speaker 4: weekend we have one or two troops coming out our
- 11:06Speaker 4: council that will camp.
- 11:07Speaker 2: House, warm up a little bit. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Our scouts are tough used to this, U this is
- 11:14Speaker 4: this is nothing for our scouts.
- 11:16Speaker 5: They're red but prepared exactly being prepared for life. They're
- 11:20Speaker 5: built for this.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 11:22Speaker 4: We we once once a year we have a cold
- 11:25Speaker 4: camp Trappers which is in Kansas, and we have about
- 11:29Speaker 4: four or five units that dealt to that and it
- 11:31Speaker 4: just prepares them for this. This is nothing for us
- 11:34Speaker 4: count They're ready for this. Yeah, they're ready for this. Awesome,
- 11:37Speaker 4: well built for this. Such a neat program. And I
- 11:41Speaker 4: am sure you know as those troops.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Or the order the group's mature, you must planning for
- 11:49Speaker 3: succession must be another thing that's really interesting, and you've
- 11:54Speaker 3: got to think forward. If you wanted this to continue.
- 11:57Speaker 3: I'm sure leaders kind of often start with their children.
- 12:02Speaker 5: Craby correct and some correct may some.
- 12:04Speaker 3: May actually come from scouting and really make that part
- 12:07Speaker 3: of their life.
- 12:09Speaker 2: But tell me how that usually works.
- 12:11Speaker 4: So, so what what we we always you know, we
- 12:13Speaker 4: start with cup Scout. That's where them in the fall
- 12:16Speaker 4: when we go to the schools, all of our schools,
- 12:18Speaker 4: our goal is to get cup Scout parents and cop
- 12:22Speaker 4: Scout youth into the program with the idea of showing
- 12:25Speaker 4: them the future. So you starting cup Scouts, if you
- 12:28Speaker 4: have a great time in cup Scout in great quality programs,
- 12:31Speaker 4: then you move into the Scout ESA program. And so
- 12:34Speaker 4: we build that almost inmate secession planning along a you know,
- 12:38Speaker 4: go from kindergarten the first grade, second put it all
- 12:40Speaker 4: the way up.
- 12:41Speaker 5: Now.
- 12:42Speaker 4: One of the things that happens is that you're exactly right,
- 12:45Speaker 4: at some point you're going to age out. And so
- 12:48Speaker 4: our commissioner staff they work very digitally at meeting with
- 12:51Speaker 4: our leaders and our chart to partners to say, hey,
- 12:54Speaker 4: look who do you have coming behind you?
- 12:56Speaker 2: We have this group of.
- 12:58Speaker 4: Yeah, and then start looking that those CUPSCAF parents as
- 13:01Speaker 4: an opportunity to bring in leadership and so one of
- 13:05Speaker 4: the things that.
- 13:05Speaker 5: We have now we have online training for.
- 13:08Speaker 4: All of our leaders, and then we have our in
- 13:12Speaker 4: person training sessions. And then the other thing that we have,
- 13:16Speaker 4: uh that you can do training sessions at Pilmont, you know,
- 13:19Speaker 4: which is another plus again for the future, for the
- 13:22Speaker 4: future of the council and of the unit, the success
- 13:25Speaker 4: the unit. But secession planning is one of those areas
- 13:28Speaker 4: that every unit has to look into and uh, it
- 13:31Speaker 4: will keep the program going.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Well, that's obviously something that's been going on here for
- 13:36Speaker 3: for decades. And then, uh, thank you for your role
- 13:39Speaker 3: in that than you know these last few years. And
- 13:43Speaker 3: you're a great rotary friend of mine, and I love
- 13:47Speaker 3: your spirit and attitude and you know, I think you know,
- 13:50Speaker 3: we talked from last time you were on the show
- 13:51Speaker 3: a little about your background and how you got involved
- 13:54Speaker 3: in scouting. I think it's it's so important to hear
- 13:58Speaker 3: those stories. Is it tell us about your background and
- 14:02Speaker 3: how did you end up around here and and and
- 14:05Speaker 3: leading a scouting group like this.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Well, you know, the beautiful thing about scouting is that
- 14:13Speaker 4: you can start literally, you can start at the smallest,
- 14:18Speaker 4: most simplest level of just having a hamboom Hambook.
- 14:22Speaker 3: And I think that's that's kind of my point in
- 14:25Speaker 3: asking all these background.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Things, is it. Yeah, there's so much going on, yea.
- 14:30Speaker 2: And but when we am, when you know, when.
- 14:32Speaker 3: You're making the pine with Derby, you don't realize everything
- 14:35Speaker 3: that's going on around exactly.
- 14:38Speaker 4: And it's it's such a beautiful thing. My father wasn't
- 14:41Speaker 4: with an orphan and he he didn't have his parents
- 14:44Speaker 4: and and he had a scout master that all he
- 14:46Speaker 4: had was a was a hambook. But but in the
- 14:49Speaker 4: three years that my father was in scouting, uh, he
- 14:52Speaker 4: learned leadership, he learned discipline, and then there was one
- 14:56Speaker 4: Merry badge, so the power that Merritbag that became an
- 15:00Speaker 4: Hour and Health engineer because when he was a scout
- 15:04Speaker 4: he saw that.
- 15:05Speaker 5: At that engineer Merit badge as wow, this is part
- 15:08Speaker 5: of my future.
- 15:09Speaker 4: And so what scouting does today we for example, if
- 15:13Speaker 4: you look at the Merribag Festival that we have coming up,
- 15:16Speaker 4: it's another way for all of all of our scouts
- 15:18Speaker 4: to see and participate. I want to say special things
- 15:22Speaker 4: to try County Tech the host it does, but that's
- 15:24Speaker 4: another way for scouts to see another Merit badge.
- 15:27Speaker 5: And then go you know what, that could be my
- 15:29Speaker 5: career in.
- 15:29Speaker 3: If you well, that's that's very interesting because it's not
- 15:32Speaker 3: just about badge.
- 15:33Speaker 2: No, no, it's exactly learning. It's about learning.
- 15:35Speaker 5: It's about learning.
- 15:35Speaker 4: You get that that first taste of you know what, Wow,
- 15:39Speaker 4: maybe I want to be I want to be a plumber?
- 15:41Speaker 5: What does it take?
- 15:42Speaker 2: You know?
- 15:42Speaker 4: And the Merri bad system is so complex. It's so
- 15:45Speaker 4: complex that once you get into it, you start realizing, wow,
- 15:51Speaker 4: you at least finish a Merrit Badge with a level
- 15:54Speaker 4: of basic level of understanding of that specific skill. So
- 15:58Speaker 4: we have of one hundred and twenty one Mari badge
- 16:00Speaker 4: in the Scouting program.
- 16:01Speaker 5: I mean, it's amazing. You think of a skill, we
- 16:04Speaker 5: have a Merry Bage for it.
- 16:05Speaker 4: And so when you start from that level, then you
- 16:10Speaker 4: start growing into the other areas of Scout in which
- 16:13Speaker 4: is leadership. I want to say special thank you to
- 16:16Speaker 4: our board and for allowing us.
- 16:18Speaker 5: To do the NYLT.
- 16:21Speaker 4: We had that National Youth Leadership Training for the first
- 16:24Speaker 4: time in the council. We did it last year and
- 16:27Speaker 4: so you know Jerry Wells, John Copeland and his team
- 16:32Speaker 4: and their team, they put together a huge youth national
- 16:37Speaker 4: youth leadership training here in Barterersville. So now scouts didn't
- 16:42Speaker 4: have to go they didn't have to go two hours
- 16:46Speaker 4: you know, to other councils to do it. They will
- 16:49Speaker 4: do it here. And especially thinking out of way for
- 16:51Speaker 4: helping because we were able to scholarship all of our scouts.
- 16:55Speaker 4: They had a fifty potent scholarship to tend. And so
- 16:59Speaker 4: what that did again kind of like with my father,
- 17:01Speaker 4: it helped plan to see and so now you have
- 17:04Speaker 4: Mary Badger you can take, you have leadership training, you
- 17:06Speaker 4: can take out the youth. And when you combine all
- 17:09Speaker 4: that from that effort, we had over five of our
- 17:13Speaker 4: scouts from the council that then attended the NAIL which
- 17:18Speaker 4: is the next level of leadership training at Filmont that summer.
- 17:24Speaker 4: And so now we have over five or six scouts
- 17:28Speaker 4: that not only when to Nail, but now they're coming
- 17:31Speaker 4: back even more prepared for the next court which is
- 17:33Speaker 4: in twenty twenty six. So we'll be talking about that
- 17:36Speaker 4: course coming up soon in twenty twenty six, the next course.
- 17:38Speaker 4: But what that does is it gives you again that
- 17:42Speaker 4: basic level of leadership training where you're working with other scouts,
- 17:46Speaker 4: you're helping your unit. You're growing your unit, and then
- 17:49Speaker 4: you want getting that training early on. And that's what scouting.
- 17:51Speaker 4: The scouting we say sometimes it's a safe place to fail.
- 17:56Speaker 4: You're able to learn a skill in a safe environment
- 18:00Speaker 4: with trained leaders and all of that prepares you for life.
- 18:05Speaker 2: That's right. As an employer, I know that, you know
- 18:07Speaker 2: we've that kind of.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Leadership sparked that kind of energy towards learning that that
- 18:13Speaker 3: is what we need and look.
- 18:15Speaker 2: For out of the workforce.
- 18:16Speaker 3: And you know it is so important and if it's
- 18:20Speaker 3: not there, we have to develop it at work and
- 18:24Speaker 3: help people understand how how being aligned and working on
- 18:28Speaker 3: shared goals and teamwork towards a common shared goals and
- 18:33Speaker 3: world right exactly.
- 18:35Speaker 2: And that's a scout Scounting.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Is such a great resource for developing that.
- 18:40Speaker 2: And you know we mentioned a few others.
- 18:42Speaker 3: It's amazing to think about the parallels between what you're
- 18:46Speaker 3: doing and and even like the Washington County Junior Livestock
- 18:49Speaker 3: Show and what four h and f FA do and
- 18:52Speaker 3: or the Young Scholars Program with how they developed youth
- 18:58Speaker 3: along the way towards a college degree and scholarships. Whatever
- 19:03Speaker 3: your interest is, being able to connect into these kinds
- 19:07Speaker 3: of programs.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I think it's really, you know, such a great thing
- 19:10Speaker 2: about it.
- 19:11Speaker 5: And that's the Medical Bodies Bill. That's the magical bodies.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Built that we have all the beautiful options for while youth,
- 19:17Speaker 4: and all it takes is being willing to step forward
- 19:21Speaker 4: and being getting involved.
- 19:22Speaker 2: That's great. Well, you know you.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Thank you so much for all your your work and
- 19:28Speaker 3: that and you know you guys are doing great stuff.
- 19:31Speaker 2: You know. I do want to talk a little bit
- 19:33Speaker 2: about the car business.
- 19:35Speaker 3: We've had these crazy winter episodes, but we got the
- 19:39Speaker 3: we did the crazy dance we do when the tornadoes
- 19:42Speaker 3: are coming. When we moved all the cars in before
- 19:44Speaker 3: the show. That way we could clear the lot. So
- 19:47Speaker 3: our cars are nice and dry right now and the
- 19:50Speaker 3: lots warm too slippery, And so if you it's a
- 19:55Speaker 3: great time to buy. We really need to catch up
- 19:57Speaker 3: a little bit on this month and finish it a
- 20:00Speaker 3: strong way and got great deals going on. Toyota has,
- 20:04Speaker 3: for instance, two point nine for seventy two months on
- 20:07Speaker 3: the twenty twenty five Tundra. We've got some big discounts
- 20:13Speaker 3: that are too low to advertise on about six the
- 20:18Speaker 3: vehicles that are the oldest in stock, in a Toyota world,
- 20:21Speaker 3: you don't want aged inventory.
- 20:22Speaker 2: We have to turn our vehicles in order to earn more.
- 20:25Speaker 3: We're constantly trying to sell to the lot all the
- 20:28Speaker 3: way down every sales base, so we really need to
- 20:32Speaker 3: push to the end of the month this month so
- 20:34Speaker 3: we can earn our inventory over the next few months.
- 20:38Speaker 3: So there are some great deals out there. I know,
- 20:40Speaker 3: We've got a Tundra like that, a Prius, a couple
- 20:44Speaker 3: of land Cruisers, a Toyota Corolla Cross, and a Camery
- 20:48Speaker 3: all that will have special discounts on them. Just ask
- 20:51Speaker 3: your sales associate for about that. We've also got some
- 20:57Speaker 3: great to use car deals out there right now, and
- 20:59Speaker 3: we are going to buy inventory I've had, We've had
- 21:02Speaker 3: been buying a lot of vehicles and you know, so
- 21:05Speaker 3: if you have something that you'd like us to take
- 21:07Speaker 3: a look at, we'll definitely make a very strong offer
- 21:10Speaker 3: for it. And you know, we really do focus on,
- 21:13Speaker 3: just like with everything else, supporting our community and helping
- 21:17Speaker 3: our customers. We want you to be happy when you
- 21:19Speaker 3: buy a car, and we try to make it, you know,
- 21:22Speaker 3: take a relatively complex transaction and make it simple by
- 21:26Speaker 3: making it transparent.
- 21:27Speaker 2: For you and you know, and just help you through
- 21:30Speaker 2: that process.
- 21:31Speaker 3: We're there to help you with anything you need in
- 21:34Speaker 3: the automotive transportation world. And you know, proud to be
- 21:38Speaker 3: doing it for a long time. It done just Toyota
- 21:40Speaker 3: and proud to support the Scouts and all their programs
- 21:44Speaker 3: and and everything else going around at Bartlesville. You know,
- 21:48Speaker 3: I think you mentioned so much of the stuff that
- 21:51Speaker 3: you're bored and you're the United Way helps you guys.
- 21:55Speaker 3: And I know with the big event coming up next Thursday,
- 22:00Speaker 3: you know you've got great sponsors for that too, So
- 22:04Speaker 3: why don't you mention a few? I think it's it's
- 22:06Speaker 3: good to call out some of the young people that
- 22:08Speaker 3: always support Scouting.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Yeah, the list is amazing, and so you know, where
- 22:14Speaker 4: do we start with truity, you know, in that way
- 22:17Speaker 4: our vest It's amazing to see how our community, you know,
- 22:20Speaker 4: our board members, our board they're the glue. They're the
- 22:24Speaker 4: glue everything that we do. And then just having you know,
- 22:27Speaker 4: the community to come in, you know, learn by little
- 22:29Speaker 4: we have. We're so proud of all and just so
- 22:32Speaker 4: humbly thankful for all the community support, community leaders you
- 22:37Speaker 4: know that come in and our board members are the
- 22:40Speaker 4: are the key to that, you know, to keep Scouting strong.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Having a strong board like we have is just just
- 22:47Speaker 4: amazing to have. And and I'll tell us a Scout
- 22:49Speaker 4: executive going into my twenty sixth year, I'm just thankful
- 22:54Speaker 4: for what Bartville doing.
- 22:56Speaker 5: We were very honored, very honored. We're selling an under in.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Sixteen years this year of Scouting, and we have a
- 23:04Speaker 4: we have a great speaker, Ross Naylor is going to
- 23:07Speaker 4: be our speaker. Uh he's also a Queen's Scout, so
- 23:09Speaker 4: he's going to be able to bring leadership and and
- 23:12Speaker 4: talk about that that connection to scouting and how it
- 23:16Speaker 4: helps prepare you for life. So we're very excited to
- 23:19Speaker 4: hear him speak. And then obviously coming right after the
- 23:23Speaker 4: Patron dinner, well, we have the Marybags Festival literally that weekend,
- 23:28Speaker 4: that Saturday, and then a week after that is the
- 23:32Speaker 4: Power Derby, and we're doing the Pounder May March I'm sorry,
- 23:36Speaker 4: March to eighth, but we're doing it in both districts,
- 23:40Speaker 4: so in Grand Lake and in Barsville. We're doing it
- 23:42Speaker 4: at the same time in Grove and in Barnsville, and
- 23:45Speaker 4: it's amazed, going to be amazing to see all of
- 23:47Speaker 4: our scouts come out for that and then right after
- 23:50Speaker 4: that we're getting ready to go camping. And so I'm
- 23:53Speaker 4: excited about this summer. We have two great daycamp programs
- 23:57Speaker 4: and then UH and then our scouts go different camps
- 24:01Speaker 4: throughout the nation UH to do their summer camp camping.
- 24:04Speaker 4: And so that keeps the wheel of scouting going because
- 24:07Speaker 4: then when we come back in the fall, we're going
- 24:10Speaker 4: to be ready for popcorn season, military con season. And
- 24:14Speaker 4: so we're just excited and just so honored for the
- 24:18Speaker 4: scouting program and what it does for you awesome.
- 24:21Speaker 3: And so if people are interested, you know what what
- 24:24Speaker 3: you mentioned again, what do they need to do if
- 24:26Speaker 3: they have oh yeah, a young person they'd like to
- 24:28Speaker 3: get involved, or just it's real simple, literally, Uh, you
- 24:32Speaker 3: call our office nine one eight three three six nine
- 24:35Speaker 3: one seven zero, you go to our website.
- 24:37Speaker 4: You know, you can come to office right here on
- 24:39Speaker 4: Kapa five two zero South Quapaw and come and see us.
- 24:43Speaker 4: We have we have a full time staffish executive Summer Lamb.
- 24:46Speaker 5: Uh that will put you in the right unit.
- 24:49Speaker 4: It literally is that simple call the office, ask for
- 24:52Speaker 4: some of lamb and Summer will put you will place
- 24:55Speaker 4: you in the right unit.
- 24:57Speaker 5: We're just excited to have the staff that we have.
- 24:59Speaker 5: We have great.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Staff, and I cannot say thank you for our staff
- 25:03Speaker 4: because that's what keeps scouting. You know, you talk about,
- 25:06Speaker 4: you know, the things that are not being seen, for
- 25:08Speaker 4: example with our recycling program and so forth, and so
- 25:12Speaker 4: you know, just see the workout staff they're doing behind
- 25:15Speaker 4: the scenes is just incredible. So I want to say
- 25:17Speaker 4: thank you for their hard work. But literally, for somebody
- 25:20Speaker 4: to join Scouting, just call the office. It's that simple,
- 25:23Speaker 4: and we will put you in touch with the right unit.
- 25:27Speaker 4: And if you want to start a new unit, calls
- 25:30Speaker 4: as well. Because to keep Scouting going, we need to
- 25:34Speaker 4: continue to grow the program and add more units in
- 25:38Speaker 4: more communities.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Well, thank you for your great message today, Philip. Great
- 25:43Speaker 3: to have you on the show again. Appreciate everything you
- 25:45Speaker 3: do and see you next Thursday night. Yeah, and if
- 25:51Speaker 3: people are interested, that's another way to find out more.
- 25:54Speaker 3: It's going to the patron event and hear the great
- 25:57Speaker 3: speaker and all the scouts out there. We wish you
- 26:02Speaker 3: all success this year and hopefully it will warm up
- 26:05Speaker 3: for this weekend's camping and you've been.
- 26:08Speaker 2: A few weeks, the'll be a lot of them camping,
- 26:10Speaker 2: it'll probably be warmer.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Thank you, thank you so much, and to all of you,
- 26:15Speaker 3: thank you for listening to us again here today. We'll
- 26:19Speaker 3: be out of the dealership already. If you need us
