Transcript
- 0:01Speaker: Happy Monday moment.
- 0:02Speaker: Friends.
- 0:03Speaker: Today I want to talk about unconscious beliefs, those stories that live below the surface and quietly shape our reality.
- 0:11Speaker: Someone asked me recently, how do you even know what those stories are?
- 0:16Speaker: How do you know what limiting beliefs might still be running the show?
- 0:21Speaker: And.
- 0:21Speaker: I get how sometimes it may not be obvious because it can be easy to think that the limiting beliefs you once faced have now been resolved.
- 0:30Speaker: Maybe that's true, and if so great, but maybe you've just not run up against them because you've been staying inside of your comfort zone.
- 0:39Speaker: A place where these voices don't have a reason to ring the alarm bell.
- 0:44Speaker: After all the landscape is familiar and you're functioning and you're likely feeling competent.
- 0:51Speaker: In other words, everything feels fine, but picture a different scenario.
- 0:57Speaker: Picture yourself trying something completely new.
- 1:00Speaker: That's when the stories come running.
- 1:04Speaker: I remember the first time I played golf, someone invited me out and I thought, sure, I'm open.
- 1:10Speaker: I can try new things.
- 1:11Speaker: I'm not that attached to being good.
- 1:13Speaker: And then I got out there and immediately the stress hit along with it.
- 1:20Speaker: The Committee of Voices, you're taking too long, everyone's watching you.
- 1:25Speaker: You're holding up the line.
- 1:27Speaker: Come on, Tania.
- 1:28Speaker: Get it right the first time.
- 1:29Speaker: It wasn't so much that I was shocked by those voices.
- 1:33Speaker: I've done enough self-reflection to know that those stories exist.
- 1:39Speaker: But what surprised me was just how loud they were.
- 1:43Speaker: It was like I thought they had been turned down to like, I don't know, a three out of ten and suddenly they were back up at an eight or nine.
- 1:51Speaker: And here's what I want to normalize.
- 1:55Speaker: Old stories don't necessarily disappear, but they can lose their authority and when they get loud again, it's often because something new is stretching you.
- 2:07Speaker: It doesn't mean that your inner work hasn't paid off, and it doesn't mean you're back at the beginning.
- 2:13Speaker: It just means you're expanding into new territory.
- 2:17Speaker: So the invitation this week is simple.
- 2:20Speaker: Try something new, something where you're not already competent.
- 2:26Speaker: Something just new enough that you feel a little vulnerable or even a little exposed, and when the discomfort shows up.
- 2:35Speaker: When the old identity suddenly gets louder, instead of going into fix it mode, just notice it.
- 2:44Speaker: And you may want to consider what is it that your old identity is trying to protect, or what rule is it enforcing?
- 2:56Speaker: And here's some good news.
- 2:58Speaker: You don't have to banish it today.
- 3:01Speaker: Just observe it without judgment.
- 3:04Speaker: Because I've noticed that when I don't argue with that old voice, when I don't obey it and I don't try to silence it immediately, it softens even just slightly.
- 3:19Speaker: And it's not because I've conquered it, it's simply because I've stopped feeding it.
- 3:24Speaker: Awareness when held with compassion begins to loosen its grip.
- 3:32Speaker: And just because that voice still thinks it's in charge doesn't mean it really is with greater awareness, you get to decide who runs the show now.
- 3:45Speaker: Okay, many blessings to you on this Monday morning.
- 3:51Speaker: Cheers.
