- 0:00Welcome back to Storytime with Lucky Podcast.
- 0:05Today we read Jade's party.
- 0:09Story by Gil Mungton and illustrated by Tim Archbold.
- 0:15My name is Jade.
- 0:17It was my birthday on Sunday and I had a party.
- 0:22But the party almost didn't happen. I'll tell you why. Dad made a shopping list.
- 0:30Twenty bread rolls, three packets of chews, ten macs of crisps,
- 0:35ten milkshakes, ten cans of lemonade, a packet of napkins,
- 0:41and a packet of plates, a packet of balloons, a CD of party music,
- 0:48and a big chocolate cake.
- 0:51Gave my teenage brother.
- 0:54Dad asked him to take me to the shops on the bus to get all the stuff for the
- 1:02party We got to the trolley and they looked at the list,
- 1:08First we went to the place where they bake bread They picked up 20 rolls and
- 1:14put them in the trolley I picked up a currant bun and hid it under the rolls,
- 1:21Then I found cheese.
- 1:23They found the Corriban and told me to behave.
- 1:29Crisp milkshakes, lemonade, the trolley was filling up.
- 1:36Party knackings, plates, a big packet of balloons.
- 1:41Dave said he'd blow them up. A CD, we got a good one by a new group.
- 1:48And then the most important thing, a chocolate cake. The biggest with happy birthday on top.
- 1:56We went to the checkout to pay. A girl put all the stuff in the plastic bags and gave them to Dave.
- 2:04We raced along the pavement to the bus stop We made a party game on the way
- 2:11Dad started to unpack the shopping Okay,
- 2:14a packet of stale fish cakes Passed the sale by date Shampoo,
- 2:20a cabbage A can of hairspray, a bunch of grapes A jar of marmalade A jumbo pack
- 2:28of nappies And Dad's face went pale,
- 2:33Goodness save Dave, he said.
- 2:36Why have you got to stay? Dave said.
- 2:40We must have picked up the wrong shopping by mistake.
- 2:46Plastic bags look all the same to me. I'll take the bling tag.
- 2:52I'll take it all back to the shops on Monday.
- 2:57Well, it was a bit of a shame. I hate grapes. And we didn't need hairspray or
- 3:02nappies, but it was okay in the end.
- 3:05We had a party at the pizza place instead.
- 3:09We had pizza and chips and then came out a man.
- 3:16With a birthday cake. A chocolate one with seven sparklers on it. For me.
- 3:24The end. And thank you for listening.
- 3:29Party Games. Texted by Alison Hawes.
- 3:33And illustrated by my real little Marani.
- 3:38The Name Game. This is a good game to get the party started.
- 3:43To play this game. You'll need sticky labels with animal names on them too.
- 3:51Ask an adult to stick an animal's name on your face.
- 3:57Quiz the other boys and girls about which animal you are.
- 4:03They can say yes or no.
- 4:07Have I got wings? Have I got two legs? Am I a farm animal?
- 4:15The chocolate game. This is a game that boys and girls enjoy playing.
- 4:22To play this game, one, you'll need some chocolates.
- 4:26A pair of mittens and a pair of chopsticks and a dice.
- 4:32Two, place chocolate and mittens and chopsticks in the middle of the group.
- 4:40When you throw six, it is your go. Put on the mittens, grab the chopsticks,
- 4:47pick up the chocolate if you can.
- 4:50I mean, the balloon stomp game. You'll need a lot of space to play this game.
- 4:57To play this game, you'll need a big... It can get very loud.
- 5:01To play this game, you'll need a big packet of balloons and a ball of string.
- 5:08Blow up two balloons and fix them to your ankles with the string.
- 5:18And ask the other boys and girls to do the same.
- 5:23Stomp on the other balloons and make them flop.
- 5:29The last boy or girl left with a balloon who wins the water race.
- 5:38This messy game is best played in the garden.
- 5:42To play this game, get into groups. A group will need a cup and two buckets.
- 5:51A bucket at the start and a bucket at the finish.
- 6:01Fill the bucket at the start with water. When it is your go-to race,
- 6:07fill the cup with water from the first bucket.
- 6:11Then race to the second bucket and pick the water in. At the end of the race,
- 6:17race the group with more water in the second bucket.
- 6:21It wins. The end. And thank you for listening.
