- 0:00Speaker 1: Here's more Mark Simone on seven ken w o R.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Well. Rob Astonarino a longtime broadcaster. It was also a
- 0:08Speaker 2: Westchester County executive. You can hear him. He does a
- 0:11Speaker 2: TV show Newsmax every Saturday at two o'clock. He goes
- 0:15Speaker 2: to hear him on w o R here Saturday afternoons
- 0:18Speaker 2: at four o'clock. Rob Astonarino, How you doing good?
- 0:23Speaker 1: Mark? How are you?
- 0:24Speaker 2: I'm good? Now? Hey, you ran for governor? Tell us
- 0:28Speaker 2: how tough is it for a Republican to run as
- 0:31Speaker 2: a Republican in New York State?
- 0:35Speaker 1: Well, I'm not governor, so that should tell you how
- 0:39Speaker 1: hard it is. The biggest problem we face now, Mark,
- 0:43Speaker 1: is so many of our voters have left, They've died
- 0:46Speaker 1: or there where. I just was last week in Florida,
- 0:49Speaker 1: and Florida's gotten a lot more red. You know, New
- 0:53Speaker 1: York has gotten bluer. Then you have the suburbs like
- 0:57Speaker 1: where I am, Westchester, which has gotten deeper blue and
- 1:01Speaker 1: the city is completely insane. And you know, other than
- 1:04Speaker 1: Long Island, which has been trending right, unfortunately, the northern
- 1:08Speaker 1: suburbs have been, you know, drifting left, and upstate New
- 1:11Speaker 1: York is kind of hollowed out. So the problem is
- 1:14Speaker 1: there's not enough of ours to win outright, so you
- 1:18Speaker 1: have to pull over so many independents and Democrats and
- 1:21Speaker 1: Democrats right now are just not listening to anything that
- 1:24Speaker 1: a Republican has to say. We're you know, we're the
- 1:26Speaker 1: horns where the devil and and that's tough. And so
- 1:30Speaker 1: you get incompetence like Hocel, you get people like Mamdami
- 1:34Speaker 1: get elected, and this state just gets worse and worse.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah, but when you get north of Western, when you
- 1:41Speaker 2: get up to Rockland and north of the I would
- 1:44Speaker 2: think there's a lot of Republicans. No, not anymore.
- 1:47Speaker 1: They're they're well, they're a lot less. I mean, Duchess
- 1:49Speaker 1: used to be very red. Orange used to be very red,
- 1:52Speaker 1: Rockland was kind of red. I mean they're all they're
- 1:55Speaker 1: all basically blue now, and Westchester has gotten deeper blue.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Putnam is even you know, Putnam's a holdout still read,
- 2:02Speaker 1: but it's kind of directing a little bit. You know.
- 2:04Speaker 1: You got the people from New York City move up there,
- 2:06Speaker 1: they buy their properties and then they start voting, you know, crazy.
- 2:11Speaker 1: So I mean, look, it's not impossible for Bruce Blakeman
- 2:14Speaker 1: I think, you know, the TDS is a lot less
- 2:17Speaker 1: this time than it was in Trump, you know, in
- 2:19Speaker 1: Trump's first term. But you just see how hardened the
- 2:23Speaker 1: left has become in states like New York, where you know,
- 2:26Speaker 1: there's no rhyme or reason to anything they do anymore.
- 2:28Speaker 1: It's just got to be crazy, woke leftist nonsense socialists now,
- 2:32Speaker 1: and that's what they go for. So it makes it
- 2:34Speaker 1: a lot harder. And I think Bruce has to talk
- 2:37Speaker 1: about other things other than just crime because you know,
- 2:41Speaker 1: a lot of places, like in the suburbs, people don't
- 2:43Speaker 1: necessarily feel unsafe. Crime is an issue, but you know
- 2:48Speaker 1: they're ready to walk out at nighttime and take a
- 2:50Speaker 1: walk around their neighborhood. They don't feel the fear that
- 2:53Speaker 1: you might in New York City. But economics, things like
- 2:56Speaker 1: energy costs, you know, all those things are really important
- 3:00Speaker 1: to a lot of different people where you can get
- 3:02Speaker 1: crossover votes.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yeah, Blakeman is great on energy costs. He's great on
- 3:06Speaker 2: keeping taxes down. He's great on that stuff.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 2: So hey, our old buddy Andrew Cuomo, he's doing a
- 3:15Speaker 2: radio show now. It's God, it's a bad show.
- 3:17Speaker 1: But oh it's unlistenable. Oh my god, you want to
- 3:20Speaker 1: you want to stick your fingers in your ear and
- 3:22Speaker 1: just pull your ear drum out.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just awful. But where did he he I
- 3:27Speaker 2: don't know where he got the nerve to run for mayor.
- 3:28Speaker 2: He just left his governor. H he left in disgrace.
- 3:32Speaker 2: He left all but he being chased by the police
- 3:34Speaker 2: out of there. Uh does he have any political future?
- 3:40Speaker 1: Uh? Well, I don't know. I think the Democratic Party
- 3:43Speaker 1: has moved on for him and that's his only future, right,
- 3:45Speaker 1: And he's become a dinosaur with a terrible record, and
- 3:50Speaker 1: he again, you know, like the Chuck Schumer's duck is
- 3:52Speaker 1: only there I think because he still has time left
- 3:54Speaker 1: in his term. Yeah, but I don't know if he's
- 3:56Speaker 1: going to get re elected. I think honestly, he again
- 4:00Speaker 1: he's looked over and he's like nobody's around him anymore
- 4:03Speaker 1: because they're so far over with AOC and ma'am DOMI
- 4:07Speaker 1: people that let's be honest, I mean Schumer, that's not
- 4:10Speaker 1: really who he is. He's played the role and he's
- 4:13Speaker 1: appeased them because he wants to stay just you know,
- 4:16Speaker 1: basically stay in power, so sacred to do anything that's
- 4:19Speaker 1: not necessarily who he really has been. But I mean,
- 4:23Speaker 1: his party's left him, and so he's kind of still
- 4:26Speaker 1: standing only because he has, you know, a couple of
- 4:28Speaker 1: years left in his term. I'm not so sure he's
- 4:30Speaker 1: going to run for re election, by the way. I
- 4:32Speaker 1: don't think at that age he's got the fight in
- 4:34Speaker 1: him for what's going to be grueling primary and you know,
- 4:38Speaker 1: and traveling around the state left and right. I'm just
- 4:41Speaker 1: not so sure that's that's left in him.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I don't know, give him credit. You've got new glasses.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I know he's said been a coin optical a lot,
- 4:49Speaker 2: but hey, you were a county executive. What happens when
- 4:53Speaker 2: you get a snowfall like we had like ten twelve
- 4:55Speaker 2: inches and it stays freezing for weeks and there's everybody
- 4:58Speaker 2: yelling at you, that's streets not clean, pick up the snow.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Is it a big headache for a governor, a county executive.
- 5:05Speaker 1: So the funny part Mark, and this is just between us,
- 5:08Speaker 1: so do not tell anybody. So people would always ask me,
- 5:11Speaker 1: like during a major snowstorm, you know, or big weather incident,
- 5:15Speaker 1: you know, what does the county executive do? And I
- 5:18Speaker 1: tell them, you know what I do. I kind of
- 5:20Speaker 1: do what everyone else does. I watch it because I'm
- 5:23Speaker 1: not on the plows. I just got to make sure
- 5:25Speaker 1: that they're doing their job, and they basically do. I
- 5:27Speaker 1: get my little weather jacket, you know, in my little
- 5:30Speaker 1: executive jacket, and go do the media stuff and just
- 5:33Speaker 1: tell people what they already know, like, you know, stay inside,
- 5:35Speaker 1: it's bad out, don't drive. But other than that, you know,
- 5:39Speaker 1: you just want to make sure everyone's doing their job,
- 5:40Speaker 1: which they are. I think, you know, look, the roads
- 5:43Speaker 1: have to be clear. That's the biggest issue. And man
- 5:46Speaker 1: Dommy found that out. Not only the garbage, but it
- 5:49Speaker 1: was an absolute utter mess. The horrible part is when
- 5:52Speaker 1: all those crap melts, You're going to see nothing but blah,
- 5:56Speaker 1: and then you have to clean it. Oh it's awful, awful.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Hey, yeah, let me ask you this Cardinal Dolan. Good
- 6:02Speaker 2: news is he's staying in New York. He's going to
- 6:04Speaker 2: live here in the in Murray Hill. Actually, and I'm
- 6:07Speaker 2: not crazy about this new archbishop. I don't know. Little
- 6:11Speaker 2: he's a little woke, isn't he.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I would give him a shot, you know. I think
- 6:17Speaker 1: he's definitely got the lineage of Chicago there's no question
- 6:20Speaker 1: about it. Cardinal Souppitch, who is pretty to the left,
- 6:24Speaker 1: he's the cardinal Archbishop of Chicago, very close to the pope.
- 6:29Speaker 2: You know.
- 6:29Speaker 1: But Archbishop Hicks, I mean, it's not fair to say
- 6:33Speaker 1: that this guy had no training or whatsoever. He came
- 6:35Speaker 1: from a small, little podunk place. He didn't. Joliet is
- 6:38Speaker 1: like the suburbs of New York City, right, it's a
- 6:40Speaker 1: big enough dioceseid of its own. But he was also
- 6:42Speaker 1: in Chicago. I mean he was. He was an auxiliary bishop,
- 6:45Speaker 1: so he ran a lot of the day to day
- 6:47Speaker 1: of the Chicago Archdiocese. So, I mean he's been in
- 6:50Speaker 1: a big city. I would just give the guy, you know,
- 6:54Speaker 1: some slack. Let's see where he goes first. I mean,
- 6:56Speaker 1: it's so hard to replace Cardinal Nolan. So he's just
- 7:01Speaker 1: so affable and so really good at what he did.
- 7:04Speaker 1: But you know, we gotta change.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Unfortunately, you're being very diplomatic. Well, anyway, you can listen
- 7:09Speaker 2: to Rob est Reno Saturday, Saturday afternoon at four o'clock.
- 7:13Speaker 2: He's on WOR four o'clock on Saturday afternoon and news
- 7:16Speaker 2: Max you're on two o'clock on Saturdays.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Right, one o'clock, three.

- 7:23Speaker 2: and four o'clock on seven to ten wor Rob Astarino,
