Welcome to the Daily Quote. I'm your host Hannah McGivern,
• 0:07
bringing you the show designed to kick start your day in a
• 0:11
positive way. Today's quote comes from the
• 0:13
poet Rainier Maria Relk, who once said, and now we welcome
• 0:21
the new year full of things that have never been.
• 0:25
Think about that for a second. Full of things that have never
• 0:29
been. Not full of recycled dreams.
• 0:32
Not full of reruns. Full of things that have never
• 0:36
existed until you create them this year.
• 0:39
That's the real magic of the new year.
• 0:42
It's not about erasing who you were yesterday.
• 0:45
It's about recognizing that today contains possibilities
• 0:48
that literally didn't exist until this moment.
• 0:53
You know what I love about this quote?
• 0:55
Rilke doesn't say full of things you haven't done yet.
• 0:59
He says things that have never been.
• 1:03
That's bigger. That's about not just your fresh
• 1:07
start. It's about what you might create
• 1:10
or discover or experience that's completely new to the world.
• 1:15
Maybe it's a friendship you haven't formed yet, a skill you
• 1:19
haven't learned, a conversation that changes everything, a
• 1:24
version of yourself that you haven't met.
• 1:27
This year isn't a test that you can pass or fail.
• 1:31
It's a blank canvas, and the paint hasn't even been invented
• 1:35
yet. So today, don't just think about
• 1:39
what you want to accomplish. Think about what wants to be
• 1:43
born through you. What has never been before
• 1:47
that's waiting for you to bring into existence.
• 1:51
That's going to do it. For today, I'm Anna McGivern,
• 1:55
signing off for now, but I'll be back tomorrow.
• 2:00
Same pod time, same pod station with another daily quote.
