Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to the Dane from to the Grave sing
- 0:02Speaker 1: to the band. I just completed recording for twelve songs.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Eleven songs, ten songs, there's two that didn't make it.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Ten songs, the best ones. We compile that all into
- 0:16Speaker 1: a record called Liberation Front that is coming out sometime
- 0:19Speaker 1: in October, I believe. Yeah, welcome, welcome you deve mate,
- 0:26Speaker 1: thanks for joying worries.
- 0:29Speaker 2: So you say, bro to the Grave, blease your new album,
- 0:32Speaker 2: Liberation Front of showby the second.
- 0:34Speaker 1: So second, that's it? The second?
- 0:37Speaker 2: How you feel the month out?
- 0:38Speaker 1: Bro? Ten, we're a month out? Is that ship a
- 0:42Speaker 1: month or two? Yeah? Good man, good it's it's it's
- 0:47Speaker 1: cool because this one, I think a bit less time
- 0:52Speaker 1: between us and making it and it coming out. It
- 0:54Speaker 1: We kind of just like we gave it to the
- 0:56Speaker 1: label right onto, you know, right on time, and then
- 1:00Speaker 1: all of a sudden that's rolling out and people get
- 1:02Speaker 1: to hear it while we still like the album, you
- 1:04Speaker 1: know what I mean. Yeah, usually listen to it for
- 1:08Speaker 1: that long the time it comes out exactly. But no, yeah,
- 1:14Speaker 1: well it's really cool man, because we're yeah, we like
- 1:19Speaker 1: these songs too. It's I know that sounds like of
- 1:21Speaker 1: course we should, but like, yeah, like I just like
- 1:25Speaker 1: I just explained, right, that's a that's a rare thing
- 1:26Speaker 1: for this point of process. So it's cool to see
- 1:30Speaker 1: other people fucking with it too.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I'm here. Yeah, can you dive into it a bit
- 1:37Speaker 2: deeper from a musical point of view, bro, and tell
- 1:39Speaker 2: us what you're going for?
- 1:40Speaker 1: Yeah? Sure, Man, Look, we wanted something. We wanted something
- 1:47Speaker 1: that wasn't really going to serve as much of a
- 1:49Speaker 1: purpose this time, right, Like we've a in the past
- 1:53Speaker 1: going like, okay, this thing needs to be just ridiculous
- 1:56Speaker 1: to listen to. You know, give someone an hour hour
- 2:00Speaker 1: of death call that they can listen to on the
- 2:03Speaker 1: way to on the way to work. Whatever. You've got
- 2:06Speaker 1: this massive chunk of like claustrophobically heavy world of war music,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and it's like, yeah, that's cool. How long does that
- 2:13Speaker 1: translate live? You know, we've been through all of it
- 2:17Speaker 1: and seen how things can rock live, how things can't
- 2:21Speaker 1: or whatever. So it's like and then we've written albums
- 2:24Speaker 1: with all that in mind. This time I think it
- 2:26Speaker 1: was just like, man, take a bit of all of that, Like,
- 2:29Speaker 1: this thing obviously has to be fucking sick to watch,
- 2:32Speaker 1: like fun to watch, fun to move to or whatever.
- 2:35Speaker 1: But yeah, like remind you of something classic but with
- 2:40Speaker 1: a cool, modern fucking flair to it. Like these are
- 2:43Speaker 1: all things that we really wanted, and I'm glad we
- 2:47Speaker 1: got them all. You know, it's and know, yeah, this
- 2:50Speaker 1: thing we just wanted to be evil and unrelenting and
- 2:54Speaker 1: not give you a minute to chill. I'm glad we
- 2:59Speaker 1: did that. Yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Cool. The bring the Press release made like it's sums
- 3:04Speaker 2: that I just by saying that it marks a ferocious
- 3:07Speaker 2: return to the band's Death Care roots.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Like hey, is it that simple? I mean, look it
- 3:17Speaker 1: it may sound that simple. Hey yeah, look it probably is.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I think it's funny because we're not as conscious of
- 3:23Speaker 1: like the the roots thing. Maybe we are, and we
- 3:28Speaker 1: try to do that a bit every time, right, I
- 3:30Speaker 1: think like through every record you can hear all of
- 3:33Speaker 1: our like dumb little influences through that people may or
- 3:37Speaker 1: may not actually pick up on, but you know we
- 3:40Speaker 1: threw that in there, you know, like even just it's
- 3:43Speaker 1: a Death Corps album, but we'll will really be like
- 3:46Speaker 1: this thing's got to sound like a hand of mercy riff,
- 3:49Speaker 1: Like it's it's so random that it's something very like
- 3:54Speaker 1: unique and special to us. So we've you know, I
- 3:58Speaker 1: don't know, I think our death core roots have always
- 4:01Speaker 1: looked a little differently to like the death core roots
- 4:06Speaker 1: that I grew up on, right, Like where we've always
- 4:10Speaker 1: liked thrown a bunch of different shot in there. I
- 4:12Speaker 1: think this one's like way more of a like, you know,
- 4:16Speaker 1: our first record heaps techy, second one a bit more
- 4:20Speaker 1: melodic and boppy, last one more hardcore. This one does
- 4:26Speaker 1: spream a lot of death core. But it's like, yeah,
- 4:28Speaker 1: I think this might be like the first time we've
- 4:30Speaker 1: actually leant into it this hard, if that makes sense.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Indeed, I noticed there's no someone there called Liberation Front
- 4:38Speaker 2: either Brave, so that indicates there's a bit of greater
- 4:41Speaker 2: significance to the title.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yeah, pretty much. We absolutely. I mean, like do a
- 4:50Speaker 1: bit of you know, anyone who does like some base
- 4:53Speaker 1: level research and the animal rights or whatever, they'll come
- 4:56Speaker 1: across like Animal Liberation Front and all of that kind
- 4:59Speaker 1: of for itself. But yeah, we wanted to we wanted
- 5:04Speaker 1: to rebrand that to a degree. Right, It's like it's
- 5:07Speaker 1: very easy to to reduce that. Oh you know, these
- 5:11Speaker 1: guys they wear ballet clava as they go out and
- 5:12Speaker 1: they grab animals and everyone is happily ever after or whatever.
- 5:16Speaker 1: And we we're always talking about doing things by any
- 5:21Speaker 1: means necessary, you know, getting getting these animals out by
- 5:23Speaker 1: any means necessary. So Liberation Front just the album's talking
- 5:27Speaker 1: about killing people from start to funny from finish because
- 5:29Speaker 1: it's it's you know, death metal, So pairing that with
- 5:35Speaker 1: a Liberation Front thing, I think kind of tells people like,
- 5:40Speaker 1: this isn't what you thought. It is, like, it's not
- 5:45Speaker 1: always going to look nice and pretty, and we're not
- 5:47Speaker 1: always going to ask you nicely to do the right thing,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know what I mean? That's that's Liberation Front to me?
- 5:57Speaker 2: Yes, right, So how does Liberate should run? Expand upon
- 6:01Speaker 2: the heavy ground that you breake with everyone as a
- 6:03Speaker 2: murder and director's cuts like are their elements or experimentation
- 6:07Speaker 2: on this record? There will surprise long time fans.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I think, so yeah, I think there's definitely. Man, we've
- 6:17Speaker 1: we've leant into way more obnoxious death call this time,
- 6:22Speaker 1: which like might sound like if you're listening to this,
- 6:25Speaker 1: you probably gonna be like, well, great, why should I
- 6:27Speaker 1: go and fucking listen to that? It's like this time, man,
- 6:30Speaker 1: you can really tell we stopped giving a shit, like, oh,
- 6:34Speaker 1: don't put a break down there, because that's not like,
- 6:37Speaker 1: you know, that doesn't really fit conventional song structure or whatever.
- 6:40Speaker 1: And it's just like, no, this one, we really like,
- 6:44Speaker 1: we wanted it to make us laugh and it does.
- 6:48Speaker 1: And I think that is a cool thing that people
- 6:51Speaker 1: might not like. You might pick up and when you
- 6:54Speaker 1: listen to it, it's just it's not so safe. Okay, Yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 1: it's a good thing. Yeah, indeed.
- 7:03Speaker 2: And before the album drops, Pray to the Grave Room
- 7:05Speaker 2: Barking on a seven date run of shows dubbed Nail
- 7:07Speaker 2: Austraia to the Water Or that kicks off in Birth
- 7:10Speaker 2: on September twod before hitting Adelaide, Frankston, Melbourne, CANbus, Sydney
- 7:14Speaker 2: and Newcastle and finishing in Brizzy on the Trophrom September.
- 7:17Speaker 2: So how much the new album is going to be
- 7:19Speaker 2: playing on that run?
- 7:21Speaker 1: I think half of it, I think so, you know,
- 7:24Speaker 1: by then there'll be three or four singles I believe
- 7:29Speaker 1: out and we want to get we want to play
- 7:31Speaker 1: all those. We want to I still think we're still
- 7:35Speaker 1: fighting about this is actually because there's one of those
- 7:36Speaker 1: songs on the album that I think fucking rule that
- 7:40Speaker 1: never made it as singles, right, I would love to play.
- 7:45Speaker 1: So yeah, we're just kind of figuring that out now. Man,
- 7:47Speaker 1: what's going to you know, what's going to shock people
- 7:50Speaker 1: that they haven't heard yet? What are they like the
- 7:53Speaker 1: most that they've already heard? And yeah, but ye're definitely
- 7:55Speaker 1: playing a shit lader that.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Yes, And yeah, bringing Alabama's No You're Out for the
- 8:00Speaker 2: Australian debut alongside aldam Mortis and Blackmouse. So what made
- 8:04Speaker 2: this specific combination of bands of perfect fit for these
- 8:08Speaker 2: run the shows?
- 8:09Speaker 1: Bro? If you looked at my like my Spotify what
- 8:13Speaker 1: like you know, my fucking what do you call it
- 8:16Speaker 1: most played Artists or whatever recently played or whatever, it's
- 8:19Speaker 1: a bunch of No Cure, a bunch of algam Ortis. Like,
- 8:24Speaker 1: so I'm pretty staked, man, because I kind of just
- 8:27Speaker 1: like selfishly wanted these bands for the run you know
- 8:32Speaker 1: what I mean, Like, and then we got them, which
- 8:34Speaker 1: was really fucking cool. So yeah, I don't know, Like
- 8:38Speaker 1: something about this screams like heaviest underground thing that you'll
- 8:45Speaker 1: probably see that like I've seen quite recently, you know,
- 8:48Speaker 1: what I mean in a while, like full package, it's
- 8:53Speaker 1: gotta be yeah, man, I think so. So I'm super excited.
- 8:59Speaker 1: I think we all are, man like. It's just like
- 9:03Speaker 1: we've done headliners and stuff before. This is the first
- 9:05Speaker 1: time for us bringing someone from overseas, so it's a
- 9:10Speaker 1: massive step for us. We're really fucking happy that we
- 9:12Speaker 1: get to do that. And it's no cure, Like if
- 9:14Speaker 1: you listen to them, you'll be at the show because
- 9:17Speaker 1: they grab you straight away.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I haven't spent so much time touring Europe and North
- 9:21Speaker 2: America recently. How how does it feel coming back to
- 9:24Speaker 2: headline the local Australian underground circuits like Robot Max watching
- 9:27Speaker 2: the TRIPID.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Oh it's cool man, Like these are venues are like
- 9:32Speaker 1: I've been to a million times, right getting the fucking
- 9:36Speaker 1: you know, like fringing up Max wats is a cool one,
- 9:38Speaker 1: Like I've never actually seen it from the band's POV.
- 9:42Speaker 1: It's but yeah, man, like I think it's always a
- 9:47Speaker 1: you're always a bit unsure how it's going to go.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Like overseas people eat you up, like it's like they're
- 9:54Speaker 1: never going to see you again, you know what I mean.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Like they're very appreciative over here it can be different,
- 10:00Speaker 1: but where every time we go out I can do
- 10:05Speaker 1: a headliner run. It's a bit oh fuck? Is is
- 10:08Speaker 1: now the time we realize like, fuck, Australia doesn't actually
- 10:12Speaker 1: like us, like like they're used to or whatever. But
- 10:15Speaker 1: we're every time, we're pretty we're pretty stoked about the response. Man,
- 10:18Speaker 1: That's why we keep fucking booking them, right, So I'm
- 10:22Speaker 1: excited probe be like the longest we've ever played, you know,
- 10:26Speaker 1: like fucking hour sets, which we're ready for now after
- 10:29Speaker 1: going to Europe and shit a million times playing thirty
- 10:32Speaker 1: shows in a row, Like, yeah, where.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Can people get tickets to these shows made? Or find
- 10:39Speaker 2: out more infrared?
- 10:41Speaker 1: Mate? Anywhere to the grave talk shit, you will find
- 10:44Speaker 1: usapping NonStop about where to find these tickets? Where to
- 10:47Speaker 1: buy this fucking album our Instagram b's what we're posting
- 10:51Speaker 1: about it every two days, so like yeah, no, right, all.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Right, Roy, Well, thanks very much for your time, ma,
- 10:57Speaker 2: It's been a pleasure. The album comes out over the second.
- 11:00Speaker 2: The chur kicks off on September second, So busy times ahead, brother,
- 11:04Speaker 2: best so like with.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Everything, thank you so much for your time. Brother. I
- 11:07Speaker 1: appreciate that
