- 0:00Welcome to America After 250, a journey through
- 0:03scripture, history, and the future of our nation.
- 0:08Your host, Pastor David, guides us through the
- 0:13moments that shape America's next chapter and
- 0:16the biblical truths that anchor our lives today.
- 0:19This is America After 250. Welcome to Voices
- 0:24of Life, a ministry of the Church for Life. I'm
- 0:27Pastor David. Voices of Life is where faith,
- 0:30history, and the future of America meet. Today,
- 0:33in week 8 of America After 250, we explore the
- 0:37heart of community, the strength of civic life,
- 0:40and the calling God places on His people to shape
- 0:44the world right outside their front door. Our
- 0:48scripture today is Micah 6, verse 8. He has shown
- 0:51you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord
- 0:55require you but to do justly? to love mercy,
- 0:59and to walk humbly with your God. Lord, bless
- 1:04this hour, bless our communities, bless our civic
- 1:07life, and bless every listener who desires to
- 1:10live out your justice, your mercy, and your humility.
- 1:14Amen. So 250 years after America's founding,
- 1:18the strength of our nation is still found in
- 1:21communities. Not in Washington, not in state
- 1:23capitals, but in neighborhoods, schools, churches,
- 1:26and everyday places where people gather. America's
- 1:30future will not be decided only by national debates,
- 1:34but by the character of its communities and the
- 1:37believers who serve within them. Micah 6 verse
- 1:428 is not a suggestion, it is a civic mandate
- 1:45for God's people. To do justly means We bring
- 1:51fairness, integrity, and righteousness into the
- 1:54public square. To love mercy means we treat our
- 1:58neighbors with compassion, patience, and grace
- 2:02even when culture grows harsh. To walk humbly
- 2:06means we serve without pride, lead without arrogance,
- 2:12and influence without demanding applause. This
- 2:16is the believer's civic calling. This is how.
- 2:19Faith shapes community life. Our guided reflections
- 2:23is justice in daily life, mercy in relationships,
- 2:28and humility in leadership. As America enters
- 2:32its next chapter, five pillars will define strong
- 2:35God -centered communities. The first one is justice
- 2:40practiced publicly, fairness, honesty, moral
- 2:44clarity. The second one is mercy extended generously.
- 2:49compassion that heals division. Number three
- 2:53is humility and leadership, serving without self
- 2:57-promotion. Sometimes that's also called servant
- 2:59leadership. Number four, civic responsibility,
- 3:04showing up, participating, contributing, not
- 3:10just standing back and watching. And finally,
- 3:14number five, neighborly love, building bonds
- 3:16that strengthen the nation. These pillars are
- 3:20not political strategies. They are spiritual
- 3:22foundations. You know, we have a crisis in America
- 3:28because we have some disconnected communities.
- 3:31And it's a very quiet crisis, this disconnection.
- 3:36People feel isolated, neighbors barely know each
- 3:39other, and civic participation is declining.
- 3:42But scripture teaches that God places his people
- 3:46and communities on purpose. We are not called
- 3:49to withdraw. We are called to engage, to build,
- 3:51to restore, and to present. The cure for disconnected
- 3:55communities is connected believers. Imagine an
- 4:01America where believers lead the way in rebuilding
- 4:04civic life. Where churches adopt... neighborhoods
- 4:08where families serve together, where believers
- 4:11show up to school boards, town halls, and community
- 4:14meetings, not to argue, but to bring wisdom,
- 4:17peace, and clarity. Where justice is lived, mercy
- 4:22is practiced, and humility is visible. This is
- 4:25not idealistic. This is biblical. This is Micah
- 4:306 verse 8 in motion. So today we declare America's
- 4:35communities will rise again. Believers will bring
- 4:38justice where there is confusion. Mercy where
- 4:41there is division and humility where there is
- 4:45pride. The future of America begins in places
- 4:49where we live, serve, and love our neighbors.
- 4:54This is our calling. This is our work that God
- 4:58has placed before us. Micah 6 verse 8 is more
- 5:01than a verse. It is a blueprint for community
- 5:04life in America's next chapter. So Micah 6 verse
- 5:098 is not only a national calling, it is a daily
- 5:12practice. Justice is not... just a courtroom
- 5:15word mercy is not just a church word and humility
- 5:18is not just a character word these are community
- 5:21building actions that believers carry into grocery
- 5:24stores schools workplaces neighborhoods and civic
- 5:28spaces micah 6 verse 8 is how faith becomes visible
- 5:33we look at the reflections justice as a lifestyle
- 5:37mercy is a habit humility as influence and then
- 5:41The community table where civic life begins.
- 5:45Every strong community has a table, a place where
- 5:48people gather, talk, share, and build trust.
- 5:52In the older days, it was the church. It grew
- 5:58to community centers and even civic centers.
- 6:03For some, it's a literal table, a kitchen table,
- 6:07a church fellowship hall. a community center.
- 6:12For others, it's a digital table, a group chat,
- 6:15a neighborhood app, a shared project. But the
- 6:18principle is the same. Civic life begins where
- 6:21people sit together. Believers must be present
- 6:25at the table, not dominating it, not withdrawing
- 6:28from it, but shaping it with justice, mercy,
- 6:31and humility. And that requires participation,
- 6:34not just to sit back and listen. You need to
- 6:38add your part. Your part's important. Your view
- 6:41is important. Your view may differ from other
- 6:44people's views, and that's okay. As long as at
- 6:47the end of the day we can agree to disagree on
- 6:49things, fine, or we can agree to agree on things.
- 6:51But we communicate. That's the foundation of
- 6:55civic trust. Justice is the backbone of community
- 6:59trust. When people believe fairness is present,
- 7:02they participate. They contribute. They show
- 7:05up. Biblical justice is not political activism.
- 7:08It is moral clarity. It is integrity in action.
- 7:10It is treating people with dignity God gave them.
- 7:14Justice is how believers stabilize civic life.
- 7:17Biblical justice can be explained. Justice in
- 7:21the community leadership. Those are important
- 7:23things to do. Now we turn to mercy, the healing
- 7:28agent of community life. Communities break down
- 7:30when people stop forgiving. when they stop listening
- 7:34when they stop showing compassion mercy is not
- 7:36weakness mercy is strength under control mercy
- 7:39is believers way of saying i will not let bitterness
- 7:43shape this community mercy restores relationships
- 7:46mercy rebuilds trust mercy softens hardened hearts
- 7:51it's a mercy that restores and a mercy in conflict
- 7:56humility is the leadership america needs Not
- 8:01loud leadership, not self -promoting leadership,
- 8:04not spotlight -seeking leadership. It's the humility
- 8:08and leadership that listens, that serves, and
- 8:12elevates others. We were talking about servant
- 8:14leadership earlier. Humility is not thinking
- 8:19less of yourself. It is thinking of yourself
- 8:21less. When believers lead with humility, communities
- 8:25flourish. Humility... In civic leadership, servant
- 8:30leadership, principles, these are all important.
- 8:34Every believer carries a civic toolkit. Not made
- 8:38of metal, but made of virtues. Here are five
- 8:42tools God places in our hands. First, and so
- 8:47important one, discernment. Seeing clearly in
- 8:51confusing times. Getting away from all the noise.
- 8:55Patience. Slow down enough to understand. Take
- 8:59that time. Courage. Speaking with truth and grace
- 9:04and the importance of you speaking up, even if
- 9:08what you're going to say contradicts what other
- 9:10people are saying. Compassion. Entering another's
- 9:14experience. Getting to get the feel of what they
- 9:18went through. and here is something that is very
- 9:21important for all of us and everything we do
- 9:23every single day consistency showing up again
- 9:26and again doing the things the way they're meant
- 9:31to be done being fair to others and treating
- 9:33everybody with that same respect these are tools
- 9:37that build strong communities and strengthen
- 9:40civic lives as america moves beyond 250 years
- 9:45Its future will depend on the health of its communities.
- 9:49Not the size of its cities, not the wealth of
- 9:51its institutions, but the strength of relationships.
- 9:55Believers must be the architects of community
- 9:57renewal. We must model justice, practice mercy,
- 10:01and walk humbly. This is how America heals. This
- 10:05is how America grows. This is how America continues.
- 10:09So today we declare, believers will rebuild America's
- 10:13civic life. We will bring justice where there
- 10:16is confusion. We will bring mercy where there
- 10:19is division. We will bring humility where there
- 10:22is pride. We will be present. We will be faithful.
- 10:25We will be community builders. We will be present.
- 10:30We will be faithful. We will be community builders
- 10:34in the name of Jesus. Let's talk now about the
- 10:38neighborhood mandate. America is built on neighborhoods,
- 10:42not just streets and houses, but the relationships,
- 10:45the shared spaces, the daily interactions that
- 10:48shape community culture. Micah 6 verse 8 becomes
- 10:52real when believers live it right where they
- 10:55live. Neighborhood ministry, faith, and daily
- 10:58interactions, community presence. Intentional
- 11:01presence is one of those powerful tools God gives
- 11:04his people. You do not have to be loud to be
- 11:07influential. You do not have to be famous to
- 11:09be impartial. You do not have to be in office
- 11:12to shape civic life. You simply have to be present.
- 11:18Present in conversations, present in needs, present
- 11:21in moments when God opens a door for justice,
- 11:24mercy, or humility. Presence is ministry. Presence
- 11:28is influence. Presence is leadership. Think about
- 11:31how presence builds trust and spiritual influence
- 11:34is explained. Justice begins at the neighborhood
- 11:38level. It looks like fairness in how we treat
- 11:42people, integrity in how we speak, and honesty
- 11:46in how we conduct ourselves. We all make mistakes.
- 11:51We have to learn to forgive ourselves, and maybe
- 11:54others will forgive us too. And we can start
- 11:57again. Justice is not only about systems, it
- 12:02is about personal righteousness. that strengthens
- 12:04community life. When believers practice justice
- 12:08in their neighborhoods, they become anchors of
- 12:10stability in a culture that often feels unstable.
- 12:14Justice in everyday life, righteous influence,
- 12:18two very important things. That brings us to
- 12:23what we spoke about earlier, mercy. Mercy is
- 12:26the glue that holds neighborhoods together. Mercy
- 12:28listens, mercy forgives. Mercy slows down. Mercy
- 12:34sees people as God sees them. Communities fracture
- 12:37when mercy disappears, but they heal when mercy
- 12:42returns. Believers must be the first to extend
- 12:47mercy and the last to withdraw it. Because mercy
- 12:52heals, mercy works in community conflict. We
- 12:58also spoke about humility. Humility is the posture.
- 13:02That opens doors people trust humble leaders
- 13:05people listen to humble voices people follow
- 13:08humble examples Humility is not weakness. It
- 13:13is strength under God's control when believers
- 13:17walk humbly in their neighborhoods we become
- 13:20bridges peacemakers and stabilizers of civic
- 13:23life Your neighborhood is not an accident. It
- 13:29is a mission field God places his people strategically,
- 13:34not randomly. Every street, every home, every
- 13:37neighbor is part of your spiritual assignment.
- 13:40Even if you've moved a lot, those reassignments
- 13:45are just as important. You become the pastor
- 13:48of your block. You are the ambassador of Christ
- 13:52in your cul -de -sac, your apartment building,
- 13:56your community. This is not pressure, it is purpose.
- 14:01This is local mission strategy and community
- 14:04evangelism. Let's get practical. Here are five
- 14:08ways believers transform neighborhoods into Micah
- 14:116 verse 8 living. Consistent presence, showing
- 14:14up regularly. If there's civic meetings or community
- 14:17meetings, get involved. Listening, leadership,
- 14:22hearing before speaking, really taking their
- 14:26words and thinking about it. before responding
- 14:29or interrupting them. Service initiatives. Meeting
- 14:33real needs. What are they really asking? Bridge
- 14:38building conversations. Connecting across differences.
- 14:41We can all have differences in the way we live,
- 14:44things we believe, but we should be able to do
- 14:48some kind of connection in our beliefs and still
- 14:50respect the other's belief that may be different
- 14:54from ours. And finally, Prayer over the neighborhood
- 14:57spiritual covering. It's it's so important for
- 15:00neighbors to be together spiritually pray together
- 15:04when possible and have commonalities in the neighborhood
- 15:10that are that they're building these actions
- 15:12reshape civic life From the ground up if America
- 15:16is going to experience revival. It will begin
- 15:20in neighborhoods It will not be in stadiums.
- 15:23It will not be at conferences or political arenas,
- 15:26commission chambers, state legislatures, but
- 15:30in everyday places where believers live out Micah
- 15:346 verse 8. Neighborhood revival becomes community
- 15:37revival. Community revival becomes city revival.
- 15:41And city revival becomes national revival. We
- 15:44used to have a saying that international starts
- 15:46at local. National starts at local. It does.
- 15:50This is how America is renewed. So today we declare
- 15:54neighborhoods across America will awaken. Believers
- 15:58will bring justice to their streets, mercy to
- 16:01their relationships, and humility to their leadership.
- 16:06We will be present. We will be faithful. We will
- 16:08be ambassadors of Christ in places God has planted
- 16:12us. Let's look in our final segment. Believers
- 16:17across America need to live by Micah 6 verse
- 16:208 is not a slogan. It is a motto. It is not a
- 16:24theme. Micah 6 verse 8 is a lifestyle, a way
- 16:27of living that shapes families, neighborhoods,
- 16:30communities, cities, and ultimately the nation.
- 16:33America's future depends on believers who live
- 16:36justice, love mercy, and walk humbly as their
- 16:41daily civic identity. Justice is as an identity.
- 16:46Mercy is a culture. Humility is a posture. Those
- 16:50are the premises that God puts before you. Micah
- 16:546 verse 8 creates a rhythm. A three -fold pattern
- 16:58that renews civic life. Justice stabilizes the
- 17:02nation. Mercy softens the nation. And humility
- 17:04guides the nation. When these three virtues rise,
- 17:08division decreases. And we have a lot of division
- 17:12in this country. Most of it's political. Trust
- 17:15increases and communities will begin to heal.
- 17:20This is not theory. This is scripture. This is
- 17:23God's design for civic life. Think about how
- 17:25justice stabilizes community, how mercy and social
- 17:29healing works, and humility in the national leadership.
- 17:34You want our leaders to be servant leaders. We
- 17:38may not like our leaders. We may disagree with
- 17:41things our leaders say. But are they serving
- 17:43us? Are the actions that they're doing helping
- 17:48us? If they are, we need to acknowledge that.
- 17:51Now, if they're not, we need to speak up. America's
- 17:55next chapter will not be written by political
- 17:57parties or cultural movements or even national
- 17:59institutions. It will be written by believers
- 18:02who live out Micah 6 verse 8 in the places God
- 18:05has planted them. Your role matters, your presence
- 18:09matters, and your influence. You are part of
- 18:12America's renewal story. You are the part of
- 18:15healing God wants to bring. You are part of the
- 18:18civic future that will shape the next generation.
- 18:23Believers have civic influence. Faith shaping
- 18:27culture. Because your faith can shape somebody
- 18:32who needs or is looking for guidance. Justice
- 18:37must become America's national standard. Not
- 18:40selective justice, not political justice, not
- 18:43emotional justice, but biblical justice rooted
- 18:45in righteousness and truth. But biblical justice
- 18:49rooted in righteousness and truth. Justice is
- 18:53the believer's responsibility because justice
- 18:55reflects God's character. When believers practice
- 18:59justice, they elevate the moral tone of the nation.
- 19:02Think about the biblical justice principles and
- 19:05justice and righteousness. What does that mean
- 19:08to you? How do you affect that with your neighbor,
- 19:12your friends, your family? Mercy must become
- 19:16America's national language. A nation without
- 19:20mercy becomes harsh. A nation without mercy becomes
- 19:23divided, which we are. A nation without mercy
- 19:27becomes cold. But it does take two sides for
- 19:31mercy to work. It can't just work on one side
- 19:34and not being done by the other. But mercy warms
- 19:39communities, heals relationships, and restores
- 19:42trust. Believers must speak mercy in culture
- 19:45that often speaks accusation. Mercy can be used
- 19:50in communication. Mercy should be used in reconciliation.
- 19:55And then humility must become America's national
- 19:58posture. Humility listens, humility learns, and
- 20:02humility leads with grace. Humility is the antidote
- 20:06to pride. arrogance and division. When believers
- 20:10walk humbly, they model the kind of leadership
- 20:13America desperately needs. So the humility as
- 20:17a civic posture and servant leadership in society,
- 20:20those are so important today. Let's speak this
- 20:24as a covenant, a declaration over our lives,
- 20:29over our nation. We will do justly. we will live
- 20:36with integrity we will stand for righteousness
- 20:38we will love mercy we will forgive quickly we
- 20:43will show compassion freely we will walk humbly
- 20:47we will serve faithfully we will lead quietly
- 20:51this is our covenant this is our calling this
- 20:54is our contribution to america's next 250 years
- 20:58i see in america where communities are strong
- 21:01where civic life is healthy where believers are
- 21:04present and where micah 6 verse 8 is lived from
- 21:09coast to coast i see neighborhoods restored cities
- 21:12renewed and families strengthened i see believers
- 21:16leading with justice serving with mercy and walking
- 21:21with humility in every sphere of influence this
- 21:25is the prophetic vision So today we declare Micah
- 21:316 verse 8 will shape America's future. Believers
- 21:34will rise with justice. Believers will walk in
- 21:37mercy. Believers will lead with humility. We
- 21:40will be present. We will be faithful. We will
- 21:43be community builders, cultural shapers, and
- 21:47carriers of God's character into civic life.
- 21:52Let us close this week in prayer. Father, we
- 21:56come before you with grateful hearts. You have
- 21:59called us to do justly, to love mercy, and to
- 22:04walk humbly with you. Today we ask that these
- 22:06words from Micah 6 verse 8 become the rhythm
- 22:10of our lives, the posture of our hearts, and
- 22:13the identity of our communities. Lord, strengthen
- 22:16every listener, empower every believer, guide
- 22:19every neighborhood with your wisdom. leadership
- 22:24and integrity. Let justice rise. Let mercy flow.
- 22:29And let humility lead us as we step into America's
- 22:33next chapter. We dedicate our families, our communities,
- 22:37and our nation to your purpose and to your glory.
- 22:42In Jesus' name, amen. Thank you for joining us
- 22:46on week eight of America After 250. The story
