- 0:00Speaker 1: So I watched two things about Horrible Moms this weekend.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Is this a morsel of murder?
- 0:08Speaker 3: I mean yeah, I mean it's yeah.
- 0:11Speaker 2: And now a morsel of murder with Gina Barberry Radio
- 0:16Speaker 2: from Hell on X ninety six.
- 0:19Speaker 1: So one of them actual murder, the other one potential murder.
- 0:24Speaker 1: So I watched the dateline about Lori Valo day Bill.
- 0:29Speaker 3: I watched that one, yeah, and then I also the
- 0:31Speaker 3: interview one right, yeah, yeah.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Then I also watched against Carrie's wife, Sue's recommendation, you did,
- 0:38Speaker 1: She actually texted me and she said, don't watch the
- 0:41Speaker 1: Ruby Frankie miniseries on.
- 0:45Speaker 2: It really upset her. Now, can I let me ask
- 0:48Speaker 2: you two questions?
- 0:49Speaker 4: Okay, First of all, what is gained by watching an
- 0:53Speaker 4: interview with Lori Valoda Bell to see how crazy she is?
- 0:57Speaker 4: Is just it's kind of like watching a car record.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I think I keep wanting to understand how a mother
- 1:05Speaker 1: could could go there, like I want to try to
- 1:09Speaker 1: see the like the beginning and how how they progressed,
- 1:13Speaker 1: and because it's so far out of.
- 1:15Speaker 3: My realm of understanding.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Well that's good.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Well yeah, and then my second question is when you
- 1:23Speaker 4: were warned not to watch with the other one.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Why did you do it anyway? I?
- 1:29Speaker 1: Well, what what Sue doesn't know Mark, And what Sue
- 1:34Speaker 1: doesn't know is most of those details I already knew
- 1:38Speaker 1: because I.
- 1:41Speaker 4: All, okay, So why did Why did Sue warn you
- 1:44Speaker 4: off it?
- 1:44Speaker 3: Because it's it's horrendous.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Well, it's let us in a little of it.
- 1:50Speaker 1: So I found this article that sort of speaks to it.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Two cases with UTAH ties have gained worldwide attention for
- 1:57Speaker 1: egregious crimes against children. In both mother had a view
- 2:00Speaker 1: of their children that was seen as somehow demonic. Laurie
- 2:04Speaker 1: Valodaebell and Ruby Frankie or two moms who were both
- 2:07Speaker 1: members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.
- 2:10Speaker 1: They went from being ordinary and having extreme views then
- 2:13Speaker 1: to doing horrendous criminal acts. USU Professor of Religious Studies
- 2:17Speaker 1: Patrick Mason said the major similarity between the women is
- 2:23Speaker 1: their belief that quote that children have the ability to
- 2:25Speaker 1: be overtaken by demons because of activity and past life
- 2:30Speaker 1: or just the behavior of children as seen as demonic. Now,
- 2:35Speaker 1: Lauri Valo day Bell is cuckoo for Coconuts crazy. She's
- 2:42Speaker 1: in that interview on Dateline she says, Jesus comes to
- 2:46Speaker 1: jail and talks to her.
- 2:48Speaker 3: She goes back and forth between here and.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Heaven, and she talks to Chad Dabll's wife who they.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Killed, and she says she's totally fine with it.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And she goes and talks to her kids in heaven there,
- 3:00Speaker 1: totally fine with it.
- 3:01Speaker 3: She thinks she did them a favor.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Well, she has to do something, you know, to not
- 3:07Speaker 2: to hide from herself.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, she has totally justified what has happened there.
- 3:15Speaker 4: But and this the thing that I got from her, though,
- 3:17Speaker 4: is that, Okay, admittedly, yes.
- 3:21Speaker 2: You're a celebrity, but this is not a good thing.
- 3:25Speaker 3: No, she's she's she loves, she loves well.
- 3:29Speaker 1: And so that's a similarity between her and Ruby Frankie,
- 3:33Speaker 1: who was one of the first really successful Mormon mommy vloggers.
- 3:39Speaker 1: You know, look at my perfect life, look at my
- 3:42Speaker 1: perfect children, and they're perfectly dressed. But the thing I
- 3:46Speaker 1: most wanted to hear about with the Ruby Frankie thing
- 3:48Speaker 1: was they do extensive interview with her husband, Kevin, and
- 3:53Speaker 1: I wondered when this story first came out, when they
- 3:56Speaker 1: said Kevin hadn't been living in the house and had
- 3:58Speaker 1: not talked to the wife or the children for a year. Yeah,
- 4:03Speaker 1: that's very odd. And you watched did you watch the
- 4:08Speaker 1: documentary too?
- 4:11Speaker 2: I don't know. I've seen a few of these, so
- 4:12Speaker 2: it's so all.
- 4:14Speaker 1: So they got in with this psychologist who lost her
- 4:18Speaker 1: license life coach Jody Hildebrand. Yeahs too, And and he
- 4:24Speaker 1: went along with it, like he said, the first time
- 4:28Speaker 1: he went to her her group is the husband Kevin
- 4:33Speaker 1: the first thing he said. And there were witnesses that
- 4:35Speaker 1: said he he went there and he said, this is
- 4:37Speaker 1: a man hating group. This is a I don't but
- 4:41Speaker 1: over the period of years, this this psychologist moved into
- 4:45Speaker 1: their house said said he needs to leave and not
- 4:50Speaker 1: have contact with the children. This the thing that I
- 4:54Speaker 1: thought was really bad was her oldest daughter, Sherry, was
- 5:00Speaker 1: kicked out of the house at one point and she
- 5:04Speaker 1: called the police and said, I'm worried about my siblings.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Will you please go do a wellness check.
- 5:14Speaker 1: The police went and nobody answered the door when they
- 5:17Speaker 1: knocked on the door, and they asked, and all the
- 5:19Speaker 1: neighbors said, yeah, these people are crazy and they're abusing
- 5:22Speaker 1: their kids. And they said, well, have you seen any
- 5:26Speaker 1: evidence of it, meaning.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Did you see bruises?
- 5:29Speaker 1: Did you see And one of the neighbors said, I
- 5:32Speaker 1: said no, because I hadn't actually seen any physical evidence
- 5:37Speaker 1: of the abuse. And they said, well, we can't do anything.
- 5:40Speaker 1: And this poor woman was crying on the documentary and
- 5:43Speaker 1: she said, I wish I had lied and said I
- 5:46Speaker 1: had seen something, because maybe they would have investigated further.
- 5:50Speaker 1: But these women that think they are helping their children,
- 5:56Speaker 1: like my child is possessed by a demon. And Ruby
- 6:00Speaker 1: Frankie kept meticulous notes every day of the abuse of
- 6:04Speaker 1: her kids, and she was starving them and she said,
- 6:07Speaker 1: because I won't feed a demon.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Now, these kids in school, they were.
- 6:16Speaker 1: At some point they were removed from school by the parents.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Well not, I mean then the dad was long gone.
- 6:26Speaker 1: But I wonder if there's a point where you're a
- 6:31Speaker 1: very religious person, and I'm not going to say, you know,
- 6:34Speaker 1: there's crazy Catholics, there's crazy everything. You're a very religious person,
- 6:37Speaker 1: and in your mind you're thinking, I want.
- 6:40Speaker 3: My children to make it to the next highest.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Level of heaven or whatever righteousness, righteousness, at what point
- 6:50Speaker 1: where you think, what kind of God would you believe
- 6:52Speaker 1: in that would treat their earthly form in that way,
- 6:56Speaker 1: thinking it would exalt them.
- 6:58Speaker 3: I don't understand at all.
- 7:01Speaker 1: But she in her mind, that's not my child exactly.
- 7:05Speaker 1: That's a zombie, or that's a demon, or that's a
- 7:08Speaker 1: and I think.
- 7:09Speaker 3: She still believes that, Oh yeah, she does.
- 7:12Speaker 4: That's quite an admission, though. Gene to say that they're
- 7:14Speaker 4: that they are crazy Catholics.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Well, now I'm just saying I'm not picking on the
- 7:18Speaker 1: LDS church, is what I'm saying.
- 7:20Speaker 3: There's crazy everything.
- 7:22Speaker 1: It's interesting that these women are both from that church,
- 7:25Speaker 1: and that's why we pay extra attention to it here.
- 7:29Speaker 4: But I don't just disturbing. Well, you know, you never
- 7:33Speaker 4: I mean, you've if you really want to want to
- 7:38Speaker 4: understand it, you can. However, it's that comes at a price.
- 7:44Speaker 4: What do you mean, I've some famous philosopher once said,
- 7:50Speaker 4: nothing that is human is alien to us individual. You know,
- 7:55Speaker 4: it is all in us, and it's in you somewhere.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Uh but you you you don't let it.
- 8:04Speaker 2: It's so far, it's so far away inside of you.
- 8:08Speaker 4: But but there, if you really wanted to understand.
- 8:12Speaker 2: It, you could.
- 8:13Speaker 1: And I mean, but on the on the basic, most
- 8:16Speaker 1: basic of terms, I understand wanting what's best for my children.
- 8:21Speaker 3: They have adulterated that into.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Harming them because they think that's best for them.
- 8:28Speaker 3: That's the part I can't. I can't.
- 8:31Speaker 2: It's like the Munchausen by proxy people.
- 8:33Speaker 3: That's for that, No, that's for attention. And there's some
- 8:37Speaker 3: of that in both.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Of these things certainly.
- 8:39Speaker 4: And Lorie Valley, Oh yeah, that's why I mean, I
- 8:45Speaker 4: kind of don't like watching those because because of that reason.
- 8:50Speaker 2: It's like I almost can understand.
- 8:53Speaker 1: They believe that God was telling them to harm their children,
- 8:56Speaker 1: and I question why you would want to believe in
- 8:58Speaker 1: a God that would tell you to harm.
- 9:01Speaker 2: You don't quit at that point. You ever ever read
- 9:03Speaker 2: the Bible?
- 9:04Speaker 4: When when when he took his son Isaac out sacked
- 9:08Speaker 4: to sacrifice him because God told him to. You bet,
- 9:11Speaker 4: God told me to take my son and my only
- 9:13Speaker 4: son and kill him.
- 9:14Speaker 2: So I am.
- 9:16Speaker 3: I don't get that either. That's I don't get that.
- 9:19Speaker 4: It's he showed his extreme faith in God by doing that.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Well, God was.
- 9:26Speaker 4: New to the job then maybe that was was back
- 9:28Speaker 4: when he was a younger. He was a learning curve,
- 9:31Speaker 4: you know, we give him a learning.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Yeah, somebody says, my wife watched the Ruby Fank Cranky
- 9:35Speaker 1: documentary to understand why the husband hasn't been held accountable
- 9:38Speaker 1: for anything.
- 9:39Speaker 3: That's the part.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I was mostly confused by how how he gets away
- 9:43Speaker 1: with not being responsible for this
