- 0:28Speaker 2: samk Randall, Williams, Seth Morris, and Mackenzie Elmquist. Now, Mackenzie,
- 0:33Speaker 2: this is your first time on the show. So tell
- 0:36Speaker 2: folks what you do here.
- 0:37Speaker 3: At meat Eater.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Yeah, it is so. I am the e commerce merchandising Manager.
- 0:43Speaker 4: This means that I manage our product catalogs across all

- 0:50Speaker 4: with merchandising, and working alongside of the rest of the
- 0:53Speaker 4: e commerce team to build out a great user experience
- 0:56Speaker 4: for our customers.
- 0:57Speaker 2: And that means sometimes arguing with Steve. Before the were
- 1:00Speaker 2: turned on. Here you guys got into Mackenzie just explained
- 1:05Speaker 2: to listeners what she does a meat Eater. Part of
- 1:07Speaker 2: her job description as of a few minutes ago, is
- 1:09Speaker 2: arguing with Steve.
- 1:11Speaker 3: You guys placed what a five dollar.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Bet it started out at one hundred oh one hundred
- 1:15Speaker 4: a couple of years ago.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Who suggested that number.
- 1:19Speaker 5: I said, a hundred bucks. But then I don't want
- 1:20Speaker 5: it to become tense. I want one thousand dollars from
- 1:23Speaker 5: Yoni in to bet once and I forgave him, And
- 1:25Speaker 5: then I want one thousand dollars for my sister Lawn
- 1:27Speaker 5: forgave her.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Mm are you gonna forgive mackenzie if you know?
- 1:31Speaker 5: That's why I like to keep him to the point
- 1:33Speaker 5: where I can feel free to nag someone.
- 1:36Speaker 3: We'll get the answer soon.
- 1:37Speaker 2: If you're not familiar, this is a ten round quiz
- 1:39Speaker 2: show with questions from meat eaters four verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation,
- 1:43Speaker 2: and cooking, and there is a prize. Meat eater will
- 1:45Speaker 2: donate five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the
- 1:48Speaker 2: winner's choosing. And each week here on Trivia, we reveal
- 1:52Speaker 2: a new stat for the stat of the week. This
- 1:53Speaker 2: week we're looking at win percentage for competitors who have
- 1:57Speaker 2: been on the show more than five times.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Many guesses uh as to.
- 2:02Speaker 5: Who run stuff to do stats?
- 2:04Speaker 3: Who's at the top of our leader board?
- 2:06Speaker 6: I bet you play because he's only been on like
- 2:08Speaker 6: five times and he got three wins.
- 2:11Speaker 7: I don't go with Brody. Still here we go.
- 2:14Speaker 2: At the top of the leader board is Steve. It
- 2:17Speaker 2: was one thirty nine point five percent of the games
- 2:20Speaker 2: he's appeared in. That's followed by Clay and Randall at
- 2:23Speaker 2: thirty seven point five percent, Brody at thirty five point
- 2:27Speaker 2: seven percent, and Giannis at twenty four point two percent.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Just my favorite stat. Man. You're only say I was
- 2:33Speaker 5: dogging on that stat a minute ago. How much I
- 2:35Speaker 5: like it? Now?
- 2:36Speaker 1: That's right when I went today, it's gonna jop.
- 2:39Speaker 5: I got a stat for you.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Yeah, let's hear it.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Who won? Uh? I won one in my truck.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 2:46Speaker 2: And it came down to a tiebreaker between Brody and Randall.
- 2:51Speaker 7: That's a fact.
- 2:52Speaker 3: And you wouldn't have even needed the tie breaker, right,
- 2:54Speaker 3: is that? Is that what you said?
- 2:55Speaker 5: It was tied up? Okay, it was tied up between me,
- 2:57Speaker 5: Randall and Brody. And you asked what your demount Saint
- 3:00Speaker 5: Helen's cookof Brody said eighty one. Randall said something stupid. Yeah,
- 3:04Speaker 5: I said nineteen. I said nineteen eighty And I had
- 3:07Speaker 5: it exactly right. So not only did I win? My
- 3:10Speaker 5: kid was there to witness it. Not only did I win,
- 3:13Speaker 5: but I like double. I guess double one because I
- 3:17Speaker 5: got the tiebreaker exactly right. You got the communist victory,
- 3:20Speaker 5: the the commy little kid victory.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Now, no other competitor has won more than percent of
- 3:26Speaker 2: the games they've appeared in. And this is our zero
- 3:30Speaker 2: percenter question of the week, which tests how much our
- 3:32Speaker 2: players have retained from previous games. This question was from
- 3:35Speaker 2: episode three point fifty nine. The topic is conservation, and
- 3:38Speaker 2: nobody got it right. The Elgonquin Wolf got its new
- 3:42Speaker 2: name in twenty sixteen. What wasn't known as before that?
- 3:46Speaker 5: I wasn't here for those?
- 3:48Speaker 3: So do you have a guess?
- 3:49Speaker 2: The Algonquin Wolf got its new name in twenty sixteen.
- 3:53Speaker 2: What was it known as before that?
- 3:57Speaker 7: Some kind of red wolf, Eastern Wolf, timberwolf.
- 4:00Speaker 2: The correct answer was Eastern Wolf, Brody. The incorrect answers
- 4:03Speaker 2: given were timber Wolf, Mexican Wolf, red Wolf, blue Wolf,
- 4:07Speaker 2: and ad iron deck Wolf. Eastern Wolf Brody. You were
- 4:11Speaker 2: here for that?
- 4:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I remember wolf that time.
- 4:14Speaker 5: I'm surprised Hayden gets to come down here and play
- 4:16Speaker 5: the way he's messled that phone so much I literally
- 4:19Speaker 5: didn't touch it today. I catch him with that phone
- 4:21Speaker 5: all times. And then I was listening in my truck
- 4:23Speaker 5: the other day and he's still messing with the phone.
- 4:27Speaker 8: Were if my win percentage was hired to be like
- 4:29Speaker 8: acknowledged in Spencer's first stat then I'd be right there
- 4:32Speaker 8: with you. But clearly I'm not cheating, or I'm just
- 4:35Speaker 8: terrible at cheating.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I think we could find someone that'd be much happier.
- 4:39Speaker 5: To be here than he got. No, he got trouble.
- 4:42Speaker 5: I'm very he got in trouble when I was listening.
- 4:44Speaker 5: He got in trouble three times for messing with his phone.
- 4:46Speaker 8: Well, there was a very specific issue that had to
- 4:49Speaker 8: be dealt with. Time you were doing, you were you
- 4:51Speaker 8: were feinning that you were doing post look ups.
- 4:56Speaker 5: You're You're like, I'll just do some post question lookups. Well,
- 5:00Speaker 5: I do get curious, like he like gets on his
- 5:04Speaker 5: phone to try to research ways that he could have
- 5:06Speaker 5: been right.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Now, for the housekeeping portion, today, I'm going to throw
- 5:12Speaker 2: it to Yannis, who has some exciting details to.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Share about a meat eater giveaway.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Take it away, Yanni, this counts is housekeeping that's right
- 5:19Speaker 2: for today it does.

- 5:26Speaker 7: that there's a giveaway going on. It is a terrible segue,
- 5:29Speaker 7: but he.
- 5:30Speaker 5: Just found a giveaway in his class.

- 7:03Speaker 2: stick around for those details.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Now.
- 7:05Speaker 2: The Shelby Index for today's round is a three, so
- 7:08Speaker 2: our winner should get six correct answers. And with that,
- 7:11Speaker 2: we're onto the game of trivia. Play the drop, Phil,
- 7:15Speaker 2: I've never sat next to Brody intimidating it.
- 7:18Speaker 5: He always that same, a little stupid little spot, and
- 7:21Speaker 5: I looked over.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I've never sat answer question one.
- 7:34Speaker 2: The topic is hunting and this is our listener Question
- 7:37Speaker 2: of the Week, which was won by Darryl Taylor for
- 7:40Speaker 2: sending this great question you got we're sending this great question.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Darryl is going to get a book signed by Steve.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Place these shotgun pellet sizes in order from smallest to biggest.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Here they are number one T Triple B number seven
- 8:04Speaker 2: and a half. Again, the topic is hunting. You need
- 8:07Speaker 2: to place these shotgun pellet sizes in order from smallest
- 8:12Speaker 2: to biggest. So smallest, first, biggest last. Here they are
- 8:16Speaker 2: number one T Triple B number seven and a half.
- 8:24Speaker 2: This is fun to watch the room. They're like doing
- 8:26Speaker 2: a math problem here, Steve, are you gonna get this
- 8:30Speaker 2: one right?
- 8:30Speaker 5: Yeah? But I don't think that's math.
- 8:32Speaker 2: No, it's it's not math. But it looks like, Steve,
- 8:35Speaker 2: I used to be a mathlete. If you didn't know where,
- 8:37Speaker 2: you'd go to mathlete competitions in math? What a mathlete?
- 8:41Speaker 3: Janni? Number one? Is that the same T Latin Club Triple.
- 8:47Speaker 2: B number seven and a Half's that is that the
- 8:50Speaker 2: same season as Latin Club? But it looked like when
- 8:54Speaker 2: everyone's writing in their whiteboards, this looks like a mathlete competition.
- 9:00Speaker 3: How you doing over there?
- 9:01Speaker 5: Brody?
- 9:03Speaker 3: Again?
- 9:04Speaker 2: Smallest to biggest.
- 9:07Speaker 7: My daughter and I were playing some kind of a
- 9:09Speaker 7: wordle but math this morning, and she said yeah, for
- 9:13Speaker 7: all of us math nerds, you know, I was very
- 9:16Speaker 7: happy to hear her describe herself that way.
- 9:19Speaker 5: Very good.
- 9:19Speaker 7: Yeah, Brodie, are you ready see in another two years
- 9:22Speaker 7: if she still likes mouth?
- 9:23Speaker 1: I don't know. Why are you asking me?
- 9:25Speaker 2: Well, you're one of the only ones who's left righting, Hayden,
- 9:27Speaker 2: Are you ready?
- 9:28Speaker 7: Because if Brodie ain't happy, ain't nobody Hayden, how are
- 9:32Speaker 7: we doing?
- 9:34Speaker 5: The pressure is not helping?
- 9:35Speaker 2: Come on, come on, Hayden, smallest to biggest?
- 9:42Speaker 3: Do you have a change of heart?
- 9:43Speaker 5: Randall? Come on, man, it's like how many how much
- 9:46Speaker 5: time do you need to give him? Well? I wrote
- 9:49Speaker 5: the biggest, the smallest.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Mm hm, Well everybody read wrong, Hayden, small list to biggest.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Let's go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve
- 10:04Speaker 2: saying seven and a half triple b T. You're missing
- 10:08Speaker 2: one in there.
- 10:09Speaker 1: See that's why, man, I only heard three.
- 10:12Speaker 7: I only heard three.
- 10:13Speaker 5: He said three. No, he said.
- 10:15Speaker 8: The way that he was phrasing was kind of confusing.
- 10:17Speaker 8: He was saying number one show. See this is why
- 10:22Speaker 8: I took my time.
- 10:24Speaker 5: How many people made that mistake?
- 10:25Speaker 7: I did he did do you No?
- 10:29Speaker 3: No, no, no, no no. Do you want to rewrite them here?
- 10:31Speaker 5: No?
- 10:32Speaker 7: Everybody got it wrong? Well no, because I don't have
- 10:34Speaker 7: four answers, I only have three.
- 10:36Speaker 5: I think you better just go with if you got
- 10:38Speaker 5: it in the correct or what you guys, what we'll do.
- 10:41Speaker 2: So one of the choices he misheard it too, So
- 10:45Speaker 2: the only one who did it correct was taking his time.
- 10:48Speaker 5: It's so truty that while he's talking about how smart
- 10:50Speaker 5: he is, he's like delivering a question wrong, I did that? Yeah,
- 10:56Speaker 5: you're like, oh it a math dude.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Steve saying seven and a half triple B T, Seth
- 11:02Speaker 2: saying seven and a half triple B T, Hayden saying
- 11:06Speaker 2: seven and a half T triple Brody saying seven and
- 11:11Speaker 2: a half triple B T, Yanna saying seven and a
- 11:15Speaker 2: half triple B T. Mackenzie saying seven and a half
- 11:20Speaker 2: triple b T, Randall saying seven and a half triple
- 11:24Speaker 2: B T. The correct answer is seven and a half
- 11:28Speaker 2: one triple B T.
- 11:31Speaker 5: Well, I'm making a call on that one.
- 11:34Speaker 7: I didn't we all have it wrong?
- 11:40Speaker 3: Why did you put an extra one in there?
- 11:44Speaker 5: I was pulled the t out even with the t
- 11:47Speaker 5: out he still loses. Well, that's okay as long as
- 11:51Speaker 5: it's like a net neutral.
- 11:52Speaker 2: And I think the room, had they had one shot
- 11:55Speaker 2: in there, would have placed it in the rights. Agree everyone,
- 11:59Speaker 2: everyone but Hayden.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Sorry, that's bullshit.
- 12:04Speaker 5: Why would you think that it would go Why would
- 12:06Speaker 5: you think it would leave the number system? Then come
- 12:08Speaker 5: back to it, well, like to like seven, six, five,
- 12:14Speaker 5: four three two, triple T.
- 12:17Speaker 3: He's gonna look something up one.
- 12:20Speaker 6: He's gonna look something up which will explain his logic.
- 12:24Speaker 5: He's gonna he's gonna google search ways in which seven
- 12:29Speaker 5: and a half is about.
- 12:30Speaker 3: The truth about about pellet size.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Seven and a half is about point zero nine five
- 12:36Speaker 2: inches in diameter. The next smallest from that list is
- 12:39Speaker 2: number one at point one six inches, Triple B at
- 12:42Speaker 2: point one nine inches, and T at point two inches.
- 12:46Speaker 2: If you want more on that subject, than go read
- 12:47Speaker 2: Stephen Roanelli's twenty eighteen article on the meatdater dot com
- 12:51Speaker 2: called shotgun shells and shot size everything you need to know.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Uh. I almost want to retell my story about and
- 13:00Speaker 5: a guy threatened me with a fifty gage shotgun. I'm
- 13:02Speaker 5: not realizing that it was an inverse correlation, but go ahead.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Question two. The topic is cooking.
- 13:10Speaker 2: This state, famous for Vinegary barbecue, has two competing styles,
- 13:15Speaker 2: which are referred to as Eastern style and Lexington style.
- 13:22Speaker 2: This state, famous for Vinegary barbecue, has two competing styles
- 13:27Speaker 2: which are referred to as Eastern style and Lexington style.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Quick answers from a lot of the room. Steve still thinking, Randall,
- 13:39Speaker 2: do you have this one right?
- 13:41Speaker 3: I'm not sure.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Be honest with the quickest answer. Yanni, you have this one?
- 13:46Speaker 5: Okay?
- 13:46Speaker 2: Again, the two styles are Eastern and Lexington. Bertie, you're
- 13:54Speaker 2: just writing out your options over there, and then you're
- 13:55Speaker 2: going to pick one.
- 13:57Speaker 5: Zero us map I take quickly guess because there's like
- 14:00Speaker 5: a thing I'm trying to think of.
- 14:02Speaker 2: This state famous for Vinegary barbecue as two competing styles
- 14:07Speaker 2: which are referred to as Eastern style and Lexington style.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Brody, we are waiting on you. Are you ready?
- 14:16Speaker 5: No?
- 14:19Speaker 2: All right, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 14:23Speaker 2: Steve saying Tennessee, saying South Carolina. Hayden sang South Carolina,
- 14:29Speaker 2: Brody saying Kentucky. Yanna is saying North Carolina. Mackenzie saying
- 14:33Speaker 2: South Carolina. Randall saying North Carolina. We have a correct
- 14:37Speaker 2: answer in the room. It's North Carolina.
- 14:41Speaker 7: God.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Both barbecue sauces heavily feature vinegar, with the main difference
- 14:45Speaker 2: being that Lexington uses tomatoes while Eastern does not. Some
- 14:50Speaker 2: other distinctions are that Eastern often cooks the whole pig
- 14:53Speaker 2: while Lexington focuses on pork shoulders, and Eastern barbecue is
- 14:57Speaker 2: usually topped with a male based coleslaw while Lexington uses
- 15:02Speaker 2: a barbecue sauce based red slaw.
- 15:04Speaker 5: Well, Yanni married into a North Carolina family, so it's
- 15:09Speaker 5: not like he knew it.
- 15:13Speaker 7: Were We served both styles of that barbecue at our wedding.
- 15:18Speaker 5: So did you know it? Know it like you knew it?
- 15:20Speaker 6: He wrote it instantly, which I should have taken as
- 15:24Speaker 6: a clue.
- 15:26Speaker 5: If Yanni knows it, it must be related to.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Question three. The topic is gear. Merriam Webster defines this
- 15:35Speaker 2: three letter word as quote a pronged spear for catching
- 15:39Speaker 2: fish and amphibians.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Again, the topic is gear.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Merriam Webster defines this three letter word as quote this
- 15:50Speaker 2: for catching fish and amphibians. Quick answers from most of
- 15:53Speaker 2: the room, Seth and Mackenzie a little behind seems like
- 15:57Speaker 2: everyone else is very confident.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Seth, you're gonna get this one right.
- 16:03Speaker 7: Oh if anybody from Michigan d n R is listening. Uh,
- 16:07Speaker 7: you guys just need to change your rules. Shushsh that's
- 16:13Speaker 7: gonna give away something could come on, Just come on, mackenzie,
- 16:17Speaker 7: how are we doing?
- 16:18Speaker 4: Three letter word is really throwing me off?
- 16:21Speaker 5: Oh did you say that? I did? She gave the
- 16:25Speaker 5: answer away. Oh crap, you said that.
- 16:30Speaker 3: I said that a little too much information. Yeah, well,
- 16:36Speaker 3: somebody is not going to get it right.
- 16:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Well now I've got like a zero percent chance. McKenzie,
- 16:44Speaker 4: I'm just writing something.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve, Seth,
- 16:50Speaker 2: Brody Janni's all saying gig Yannis or excuse me, McKenzie
- 16:54Speaker 2: saying Rod Randall saying gig.
- 16:57Speaker 7: They got it.
- 16:57Speaker 2: The correct answer is gig. Although associate gigging with bullfrogs,
- 17:02Speaker 2: it's done with suckers and flounders as well. A fish
- 17:05Speaker 2: gig is about eight to fourteen feet long, while a
- 17:08Speaker 2: frog gig is about five to eight feet long. If
- 17:11Speaker 2: you want to learn how to do it, then go
- 17:12Speaker 2: to the mediator dot com and read Kooby Brown's article
- 17:15Speaker 2: called how to gig for Frogs?
- 17:18Speaker 5: I agree with you, Jiannis Michigan's prohibition on using artificial
- 17:23Speaker 5: lights while gigging frogs. I don't know where it came from,
- 17:27Speaker 5: but I bet you no one can remember the rationale,
- 17:33Speaker 5: and whatever the rationale was isn't relevant anymore, and it's
- 17:38Speaker 5: it's just, frankly, a dumb law.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Do you think a lot of frog gigging goes down
- 17:43Speaker 2: in Michigan?
- 17:44Speaker 1: A lot more would if you could use lights.
- 17:46Speaker 5: Well, but when we were it was a shock to us,
- 17:49Speaker 5: and we learned that you couldn't. I mean, the last
- 17:53Speaker 5: thing my dad would ever read was the fishing rags,
- 17:56Speaker 5: and like when I was a little kidd, we definitely
- 17:57Speaker 5: did not. Then one day someone's like, do you know
- 17:59Speaker 5: you can't do that that? We're like, you're talking about?
- 18:02Speaker 7: I bet you there's very little gigging that actually goes
- 18:05Speaker 7: on because people probably do read the rags and they
- 18:07Speaker 7: just go out and catch them at night by hand
- 18:09Speaker 7: or net, which is what we all we do now.
- 18:11Speaker 5: But I don't like it's if you're a frog in Michigan,
- 18:16Speaker 5: the odds you have of being killed by a human being,
- 18:20Speaker 5: I bet you more gets struck by lightning than killed
- 18:25Speaker 5: by humans?
- 18:25Speaker 4: What is gigging?
- 18:27Speaker 1: Spearing?
- 18:27Speaker 6: A little spear, pitchfork? Okay, a little mini pitchforks.
- 18:32Speaker 4: And just how long is it long?
- 18:34Speaker 2: Five days from eight to fourteen?
- 18:37Speaker 7: Yeah, don't you don't throw.
- 18:39Speaker 6: You can learn how to make your own and the
- 18:42Speaker 6: new book that's coming.
- 18:43Speaker 5: Out and listen, those things work unbelievably well.
- 18:47Speaker 6: Yeah, the homemade job is yeah, you can learn how
- 18:49Speaker 6: to make that, just with a stick for your kids
- 18:51Speaker 6: catching tools.
- 18:52Speaker 5: You don't need anything, no metal, so you like skewer
- 18:55Speaker 5: the stick out.
- 18:55Speaker 2: At the end, question for the topic is what was
- 19:01Speaker 2: the name of the lion that was killed by a
- 19:04Speaker 2: Minnesota dentist in twenty fifteen? Steve with a quick confident answer, again,
- 19:11Speaker 2: what was the name of the lion that was killed
- 19:14Speaker 2: by a Minnesota dentist in twenty fifteen?
- 19:17Speaker 5: I would like to bet if you asked the name
- 19:19Speaker 5: of the dentist. That's what I was just thinking.
- 19:21Speaker 2: You think you would get that right?
- 19:23Speaker 5: No, I would have liked it if you said what occupation.
- 19:27Speaker 2: I considered that wording and I would have had it
- 19:30Speaker 2: went with this instead.
- 19:32Speaker 3: It's Walter something, isn't it Walter Palmer I.
- 19:35Speaker 5: Know where he was from. Wasn't he from Minnesota?
- 19:38Speaker 3: That was in the question the Minnesota dentist in twenty fifteen.
- 19:42Speaker 5: We're like, get them all right?
- 19:43Speaker 2: If you want to guess what year he killed the
- 19:45Speaker 2: lion too? Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and
- 19:50Speaker 2: reveal your answers. We have Cecil Cecil Cecil Mackenzie saying,
- 19:56Speaker 2: Rory Randall saying, Cecil Cecil is the correct answer. Cecil
- 20:02Speaker 2: was thirteen years old when he was killed by Walter
- 20:04Speaker 2: Palmer in Zimbabwe.
- 20:06Speaker 5: Can I give the year? It's like?
- 20:08Speaker 3: Come on.
- 20:08Speaker 2: According to Box, the hunter shot the lions.
- 20:11Speaker 5: With years old when he was killed by Spencer.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Then finished him off forty hours later with a rifle.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Although the hunt was legal, Palmer said he regretted killing
- 20:20Speaker 2: the lion because.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Of public outcry. Questionod regret it before that?
- 20:25Speaker 1: No, he didn't regret it until after.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Come on, question, why do you not think that's relevant?
- 20:32Speaker 5: Because it's like it's like every so every time? Are
- 20:35Speaker 5: you uh that buck was uh three years old?
- 20:39Speaker 3: I enjoy that context.
- 20:41Speaker 6: Yes, I think it's the intent that the older the
- 20:44Speaker 6: lion feel the worse.
- 20:46Speaker 1: The worse the offense was.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know what an old line would be.
- 20:49Speaker 2: It was just one of the details. Question five, the
- 20:54Speaker 2: topic is public lands. This next great question comes to
- 20:57Speaker 2: us via Richard Field. If you have a question you
- 20:59Speaker 2: think is right for media to trivia, you can send
- 21:01Speaker 2: it to trivia at the mediator dot com. Biscayne National Park,
- 21:05Speaker 2: which is located off the coast of this state, is
- 21:08Speaker 2: ninety five percent water. Biscayne National Park, which is located
- 21:16Speaker 2: off the coast of this state, is ninety five percent water.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Looks like the room will do well on this one. Again,
- 21:23Speaker 2: is everybody ready?
- 21:26Speaker 5: I'm sorry to question my go.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Ahead question Steve with the changing of the answer, go
- 21:32Speaker 2: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying Louisiana
- 21:37Speaker 2: said sang Louisiana. Hayden sang Maryland, Brody sang Florida. Jiannis
- 21:43Speaker 2: sang Florida, Kenzie saying Texas, Randall saying Florida.
- 21:48Speaker 3: The correct answer is Florida.
- 21:51Speaker 5: Some of a bitch. You saw me writing it.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Well, everybody had an answer. Your board was down.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Did you have it written before Louisiana?
- 21:59Speaker 5: No, but see how started to write it doesn't work out.
- 22:03Speaker 2: The Biscayne National Park is located about twenty miles south
- 22:08Speaker 2: of Miami. About one hundred and sixty thousand of the
- 22:11Speaker 2: park's one hundred and seventy thousand acres are underwater. The
- 22:15Speaker 2: terrestrial portion of the park is mostly islands made up
- 22:18Speaker 2: of coral sand and mangrove forest. Biscayne is home to
- 22:22Speaker 2: the Siemapore prickly pear cactus, which some say is the
- 22:27Speaker 2: rarest plant in the United States. Phil, we are halfway
- 22:30Speaker 2: through our game of trivia. Give us a scoreboard update.
- 22:33Speaker 2: I think it's close at the top.
- 22:34Speaker 9: It is, indeed, Mackenzie, it's in last place with one point.
- 22:38Speaker 9: Hayden's coming up next with two. She isn't a lot
- 22:41Speaker 9: of points. It's just weird because he hasn't picked up
- 22:42Speaker 9: his phone at all during this game. I don't know
- 22:45Speaker 9: if it's related. It could be as.
- 22:50Speaker 6: Extremely disinterested in this whole price.
- 22:53Speaker 5: I'm very interested. Man.
- 22:54Speaker 9: Steven Seth have three points a piece. Brody has four
- 22:57Speaker 9: and tied up in first place. Our Giannis and Rain
- 23:00Speaker 9: with five points.
- 23:03Speaker 8: Again, so you guys gave him the point for the
- 23:05Speaker 8: for the question that nobody completely answered, Yes, we did that.
- 23:09Speaker 3: That was my mistake.
- 23:11Speaker 2: I should have said one shot instead of number one,
- 23:14Speaker 2: or put it somewhere else. I'll take responsibility on that
- 23:16Speaker 2: one question six the topic wildlife. This next great question
- 23:31Speaker 2: comes to is via Kevin Dunfi. If you have a
- 23:34Speaker 2: question you think is right from media to trivia, you

- 23:56Speaker 2: in the White House.
- 23:57Speaker 5: Steve Randi, Randall's gonna get it.
- 24:00Speaker 7: If he doesn't get it, it's wrong with our educational system.
- 24:03Speaker 2: And you have like three degrees in history.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Is that right? That's correct?
- 24:08Speaker 2: Okay, so you're one hundred percent chance you get this
- 24:10Speaker 2: one right.
- 24:12Speaker 5: It's kind of in his sweet spot a little bit too,
- 24:14Speaker 5: you know, big.
- 24:16Speaker 3: He likes alligators.
- 24:17Speaker 4: I wish I would have cheated before you put your
- 24:19Speaker 4: board down.
- 24:22Speaker 5: Chance.
- 24:22Speaker 4: I wish I also remembered that summer he.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Kind of stopped paying attention to who was president. You know,
- 24:28Speaker 1: then there's a whole great.
- 24:29Speaker 5: Long that was he was the president.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Again, America's sixth president.
- 24:37Speaker 5: Right when I started all have big mutton chops. They
- 24:40Speaker 5: like they're like no, no one remembers them.
- 24:43Speaker 2: He once kept a pet alligator in the White House. Johanni,
- 24:50Speaker 2: what are your odds on this one?
- 24:53Speaker 7: Extremely low?
- 24:54Speaker 3: Okay? Does everybody have an answer?
- 24:58Speaker 4: I could be in the totally wrong time period.
- 25:01Speaker 5: There's no way I'm ready either. Don't worry.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying,
- 25:06Speaker 2: what does that say? It got Oh, Jackson, Jackson, it

- 25:35Speaker 2: was just regifting the gator that he received as a
- 25:38Speaker 2: president after the war. Adams liked the gator and kept
- 25:42Speaker 2: it in a White House bathroom for a few months
- 25:45Speaker 2: before it moved to a more permanent home.
- 25:47Speaker 5: Yeah, because Jackson, he wasn't until like the early like
- 25:50Speaker 5: well into the eighteen hundreds, like eighteen eighteen thirty, eighteen thirty.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Two, question seven. The topic is hunting.
- 26:00Speaker 7: That was a bone for Randall.
- 26:01Speaker 5: I think, yeah.
- 26:02Speaker 2: What hunting family started the dear cast smartphone app in
- 26:06Speaker 2: twenty eighteen? Again, the topic is hunting. What hunting family
- 26:11Speaker 2: started the dear cast smartphone app in twenty eighteen? Yehanni,

- 26:31Speaker 7: because I was. I don't know I was, you know,
- 26:33Speaker 7: I was. I was putting apps and folders. But anyways,
- 26:38Speaker 7: I'm not currently paying for it. I'm someone that's just
- 26:42Speaker 7: gonna pay for one month of it in November. Just
- 26:45Speaker 7: there's something to get me more fired up.
- 26:47Speaker 2: You know what a coincidence for Johannie, Steve, You're gonna
- 26:50Speaker 2: get this.
- 26:50Speaker 5: One right, oh fifty fifty Again?
- 26:52Speaker 2: What hunting family started the dear cast smartphone app in
- 26:56Speaker 2: twenty eighteen? Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and
- 27:00Speaker 2: reveal your answers. We have Steve saying Drury's Seth saying Busbies,

- 27:16Speaker 2: The correct answer is the Druries.
- 27:20Speaker 1: It's just one gentleman.
- 27:21Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 27:21Speaker 5: Is it a family.
- 27:23Speaker 7: I'm sure there will a family.
- 27:28Speaker 2: The app is an advertised The app is advertised as

- 27:41Speaker 2: has three point nine stars via fifteen hundred reviews in
- 27:44Speaker 2: the Apple Store.
- 27:46Speaker 6: Steve, you should release an app where people could just
- 27:48Speaker 6: hit the button and you'd whisper yell at him and
- 27:51Speaker 6: they're lining up on a deer.
- 27:52Speaker 5: Oh yeah yourself phone?
- 27:55Speaker 4: Yes?
- 27:55Speaker 5: Probably?
- 27:56Speaker 7: What's the problem taking so long?
- 27:58Speaker 5: What are you doing?
- 28:00Speaker 1: Question eight?
- 28:01Speaker 2: The topic is woodsmanship, and then it heats up.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Shoot.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Name one of the five states that have an average
- 28:12Speaker 2: wind speed over twenty miles per hour. Again, the topic
- 28:18Speaker 2: is woodsmanship. Name one of the five states that have
- 28:21Speaker 2: an average wind speed over twenty miles per hour. Seth,
- 28:30Speaker 2: You have this one right quick?
- 28:31Speaker 7: An is this anywhere in the state or just like overall.
- 28:36Speaker 2: I can't tell you how they gathered this data specifically.
- 28:39Speaker 2: I don't think they took it from just like the
- 28:43Speaker 2: capital of the place. Again, name one of the five
- 28:47Speaker 2: states that have an average.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Wind speed over twenty miles per hour?
- 28:53Speaker 4: Is this year round just during one season?
- 28:55Speaker 3: Again, I can't.
- 28:56Speaker 2: I don't know the specifics of the gathering of data
- 28:59Speaker 2: for this.
- 29:00Speaker 5: I hate that much with the overall average of all
- 29:02Speaker 5: the weather stations there.
- 29:04Speaker 3: We get set in the states, and they take the middle.
- 29:06Speaker 2: South the point just like ten meters in the air
- 29:09Speaker 2: or something like that is where they measure the weather.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Something like that.
- 29:13Speaker 3: I think our closest one here is in Belgrade at
- 29:16Speaker 3: the airport. Yohanny. How we doing need one of the
- 29:20Speaker 3: five states?
- 29:23Speaker 5: You got one and ten, Yanni.
- 29:24Speaker 7: Yeah, here's ready, I'm ready.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying Wyoming,
- 29:29Speaker 2: Seth saying Kansas. Hayden sang North Dakota, Brody saying Wyoming,
- 29:35Speaker 2: Giannis sang South Dakota, Mackenzie sang Florida, Randalls saying Wyoming.
- 29:40Speaker 5: All the heavy hitters got Wyoming.
- 29:42Speaker 1: The five states.
- 29:43Speaker 5: For formerly a heavy hitter for me.
- 29:45Speaker 2: The five states are South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, and Colorado.
- 29:51Speaker 3: You know why?
- 29:52Speaker 2: And Wyoming Spencer is it because Montana sucks and Colorado blows?
- 29:57Speaker 1: You got the wrong states.
- 29:58Speaker 9: Wrong states you're telling me with all.
- 30:01Speaker 1: The Nebraska sucks and I.
- 30:02Speaker 4: Florida at least twenty miles per hour.
- 30:05Speaker 5: Not in Florida, that's a good idea. Those fact hurricanes,
- 30:08Speaker 5: but those they have.
- 30:09Speaker 4: Like upwards like one hundred and sixty miles per hour
- 30:11Speaker 4: certain times of the year.
- 30:12Speaker 2: South Dakota is the windiest state in America, with an
- 30:16Speaker 2: average wind speed of twenty one point three miles per hour.
- 30:19Speaker 2: That's followed by Montana, why owning, Idaho and Colorado. Rounding
- 30:24Speaker 2: out the top ten are Maryland, Virginia, Missouri, Kansas, and
- 30:27Speaker 2: North Dakota. The five least windy states are Delaware, California, Louisiana, Connecticut,
- 30:34Speaker 2: and Hawaii.
- 30:35Speaker 5: Yeah. I got a little song for you.
- 30:36Speaker 3: What do you got?
- 30:38Speaker 5: The highest wind speed ever recorded on Earth.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Is just what in New Hampshire.
- 30:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Mount Washington the deadliest mountain in the United States.
- 30:46Speaker 5: Oh really? Yeah, because people go up there and they're
- 30:48Speaker 5: like shorty pants and stuff. When it's all nice out
- 30:51Speaker 5: then it just gets such fallative weather that they get
- 30:53Speaker 5: people always dying of exposure. Yeah, from being ill prepared.
- 30:57Speaker 2: The video of that wind coming through during that blizzard,
- 30:59Speaker 2: it's like, e g. I you like, that can't be
- 31:01Speaker 2: real life when you watch it, it's crazy.
- 31:03Speaker 4: What's the elevation I've been up there.
- 31:06Speaker 1: It's not that three or four. It's not that.
- 31:09Speaker 5: But it's like, if there's all these little diagrams to
- 31:11Speaker 5: show why it gets such hlacious wins.
- 31:13Speaker 3: You can drive to the top.
- 31:15Speaker 2: We have two questions left. I think we might have
- 31:17Speaker 2: a perfect game still going.
- 31:21Speaker 1: He lost it.
- 31:23Speaker 3: We got a perfect tie going.
- 31:25Speaker 9: Man, Okay, Mackenzie, Seth and Hayden are out.
- 31:29Speaker 5: Damn it.
- 31:30Speaker 9: Steve, you're basically out. You've got five points because in
- 31:34Speaker 9: first place are Randall, Jannis and Brody tied up with
- 31:36Speaker 9: seven points.
- 31:38Speaker 7: Wow, Brody caught up, caught up paying attention.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Question nine fishing.
- 31:51Speaker 5: I thought he was just small talk.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Takes a great question comes to us via Parker Schultz.
- 31:56Speaker 2: If you have a question you think it's right for
- 31:58Speaker 2: meda to trivia, you can send it to trivia at
- 32:00Speaker 2: the meat Eater dot com. According to the Great Lakes
- 32:04Speaker 2: Stewardship initiative, this great Lake is the shallowest and warmest. Again,
- 32:13Speaker 2: according to the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative, this Great Lake
- 32:17Speaker 2: is the shallowest and warmest. Steve, you have this one right?
- 32:22Speaker 2: Oh yeah, body quite confident. You would need Brody, Jannie
- 32:27Speaker 2: and Randall to slip up here two times.
- 32:31Speaker 5: Two times. I've seen stranger things.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Happen, Yanni.
- 32:35Speaker 2: You have this one right, Brody, Yes, Randall, I don't know. Okay,
- 32:40Speaker 2: So these guys all got to get it wrong, yes,
- 32:43Speaker 2: and you need to get it right.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Does everybody have an answer?
- 32:47Speaker 7: Changing? Changing? I'm changing, changing a different pathway for victory
- 32:53Speaker 7: for me, Okay, I want to go.
- 32:57Speaker 5: Back to that deal where you can win on the overtime.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Communist Hayden, are you ready go ahead and reveal your answers?
- 33:07Speaker 2: We have Steve saying, Erie, Seth saying here on Hayden saying, Erie,
- 33:13Speaker 2: Brody sang, Erie, Jannis sang Michigan, Mackenzie saying, Erie, Randall
- 33:19Speaker 2: sang Ontario.
- 33:21Speaker 7: You guys really.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Spread it out.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Everything except Superior was named. The correct answer is Lake Erie. Yes, Brody,
- 33:29Speaker 2: I already got it right.
- 33:31Speaker 3: The average depth of Lake Erie.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Is just sixty two feet deep, and in the lake's
- 33:35Speaker 2: western basin, the average depth is less than thirty feet deep.
- 33:39Speaker 2: In contrast, Lake Superior's average depth is four hundred and
- 33:43Speaker 2: eighty three feet deep, which is two hundred and seventy
- 33:46Speaker 2: feet greater than Erie's deepest point.
- 33:48Speaker 5: Big Lakes said never gives up. Heer dead. One.
- 33:54Speaker 6: Did Gordon Lightfoot recently die?
- 33:56Speaker 3: Last week?
- 33:57Speaker 5: I spent? I spent.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Yeah, he already hit.
- 34:00Speaker 5: We talked about this for thirty minutes.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Wow, it wasn't here thirty minutes.
- 34:03Speaker 5: It was easily. Wow, where those bodies are lying. It
- 34:10Speaker 5: was five hundred feet of water and you couldn't reach
- 34:14Speaker 5: that at the time. But people have now or some
- 34:17Speaker 5: guys in the nineties made it down there, and the
- 34:20Speaker 5: bodies are still identifiable.
- 34:23Speaker 3: The water is so cold, wow.
- 34:24Speaker 5: Thirty three degrees zero current, zero light, zero life.
- 34:29Speaker 1: They're just gonna leave them there.
- 34:30Speaker 2: They're not capable of bringing them up, or they don't
- 34:32Speaker 2: want to.
- 34:33Speaker 5: They One thing they did do is they took the
- 34:35Speaker 5: bell off and you know, like the church bell chime
- 34:39Speaker 5: till it rained twenty nine times for each man on
- 34:41Speaker 5: the Edven Fitzgerald. They took the bell off and put
- 34:44Speaker 5: a new Bell there with all twenty nine names on it,
- 34:48Speaker 5: and we were saying on the show that they need
- 34:50Speaker 5: to go down and scratch Gordon Lightfoot's name into it
- 34:52Speaker 5: now like an honorary name.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Yep, Phil, We have one question left.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Where do we stand?
- 35:00Speaker 9: We stand with Randall and Jannis having seven points and
- 35:03Speaker 9: in first place is Brody Henderson with a comeback. He's
- 35:07Speaker 9: got eight points.
- 35:07Speaker 5: I'm not doing bad six.
- 35:10Speaker 7: Steve has six.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Question ten, the topic is conservation. What conservation organization's mission
- 35:17Speaker 2: statement is quote to promote the conservation and management of wildlife,
- 35:23Speaker 2: especially big game and its habitat. Again, what conservation organization's
- 35:30Speaker 2: mission statement is quote to promote the conservation and management
- 35:34Speaker 2: of wildlife, especially big game and its habitat. We would
- 35:39Speaker 2: need Brody to get this wrong and Yanni and or
- 35:43Speaker 2: Randall to get it right to go to a tiebreaker.
- 35:48Speaker 2: What conservation organizations.

- 39:16Speaker 2: So much went into this, from the design of the
- 39:18Speaker 2: game to the questions to the artwork.
- 39:20Speaker 3: We wanted to.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Make it feel very meat Eater and give listeners a
- 39:24Speaker 2: chance to bring the game show from our studio to
- 39:26Speaker 2: their living room, and I think we accomplished just that.
- 39:29Speaker 5: And we kicked around for a long time whether it
- 39:31Speaker 5: should have a board, but we thought people were gonna
- 39:34Speaker 5: use it more like out messing around or bringing it
- 39:37Speaker 5: in your car, bring a camp and hunting camp, and
- 39:39Speaker 5: you were gonna want to set up some board and
- 39:41Speaker 5: then you do that like you're playing Monopoly with your
- 39:44Speaker 5: kids and then you go to eat and you realize
- 39:46Speaker 5: where you supposed to eat, So you have the Monopoly
- 39:48Speaker 5: board out there, worry about.
- 39:50Speaker 2: That very compact. We even have a tin carrying case
- 39:53Speaker 2: that comes with it that can carry a small amount
- 39:55Speaker 2: of cards if you wanted to take it with you
- 39:56Speaker 2: into the back country on the boat wherever this is
- 40:01Speaker 2: meant to go with you into the field to be played. Now,
- 40:04Speaker 2: the board game will be available this fall, so put
- 40:07Speaker 2: it at the top of your Christmas list and keep
- 40:09Speaker 2: it there till the holidays. I can't give a ton
- 40:11Speaker 2: of specifics right now, but promise to have more detail
- 40:13Speaker 2: soon about Meat Eater Trivia, the only board game where
- 40:16Speaker 2: conservation always wins.
- 40:18Speaker 5: Didn't we kind of start this show just to make
- 40:20Speaker 5: a board game?
- 40:21Speaker 2: No, but the idea was hot on the game quickly,
- 40:27Speaker 2: That's right. So I came in here the first day
- 40:29Speaker 2: to play Meat Eater Trivia on the podcast and Steve says, now,
- 40:33Speaker 2: what are we doing?
- 40:34Speaker 3: What's this thing Karin was talking about?
- 40:35Speaker 2: And I was like, I want to play trivia with
- 40:37Speaker 2: you guys. We've got some questions written from our four
- 40:38Speaker 2: verticals and you're like, what's what's the question?
- 40:41Speaker 3: Give me an example.
- 40:41Speaker 2: So I gave you a question that wasn't from the game,
- 40:44Speaker 2: and then your first thing you said is we should
- 40:46Speaker 2: turn this into a board game. So that's what we
- 40:48Speaker 2: did coming out this fall. Join us next time for
