- DJ Rubbaban: Of 1212, Building 341, HIMP Co: Tchau. DJ Rubbaban: DJ Rubber Band, my boy Caddy B. Caddey B: Caddy P DJ Rubbaban: And we got a special guest in the house, Himp C, aka Corey, aka Man, the Spitter, The Spitter. HIMP Co: The list is long. The list is long. DJ Rubbaban: Coming out of Northern California via Southern California. And how you doing? HIMP Co: Man, like I say all the time, I'm alive so I'm gonna do my best not to complain. You know what I mean? Life gives what it gives and you gotta find the goodness in it. And so I've been doing what I can with that. DJ Rubbaban: Look at you with all that jazzy stuff. Look, just that right there is all jazzy. I like it. HIMP Co: Ha ha ha. DJ Rubbaban: I like it, man. I like it. I think you the first person to kind of pull p drag on one on building 341. No, it's all good. It's all good. It's all HIMP Co: was wondering, I like, I'm gonna do some housekeeping, make sure that's good. for surely. For surely. Caddey B: It's all good. DJ Rubbaban: good. That's you that's a first for us, you know. So Caddy. HIMP Co: Yeah, they call me Himp C, man. Caddey B: Coffee and cush, coffee and cush in the morning. HIMP Co: Yeserski, yesery. Gotta do it. Mmm. Mmm. DJ Rubbaban: Coffee and cush. We should call it that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Caddey B: we we problem problem already did that, so we can't we can't rob that from problem, but you know. DJ Rubbaban: So man, I wanna I wanna give I wanna start it off with the origin story. As much as you HIMP Co: Surely. DJ Rubbaban: could tell us. HIMP Co: Okay, man. Damn, I was just talking about this a couple weeks ago. It was funny thinking back to how it all started. It was just on some random sh stuff. my buddy A1. I don't know if you know A1 Caddy, Amon Coleman. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, yeah. Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. HIMP Co: He came through, man. We was like fifteen. And back then he was already doing it big out in the bay and all that. And he just came through one day and was like, man, let's write some raps with Di Watt. And I was like, let's do it. And man, that's o that's where it all started. Then after that it was like Chico High, like cultural rallies and things like that. And man, the bug DJ Rubbaban: Okay. HIMP Co: just bit me. The bug just bit the kid. DJ Rubbaban: Now was you conscious then? Were you more conscious? 'Cause I got a vibe that you know like you know what I mean? Like you'll eat a bean pie but still date a white woman, you know. HIMP Co: And that's a fact. And that's that's that's right on the head. You just hit it. But and it's it's like DJ Rubbaban: I love it though. HIMP Co: that it's like that to the core too, man, the diversity and the and the the the what you say, contrarianism of it all. So like man, from the beginning it was like that DJ Rubbaban: L look at that word. We got a word B. Caddey B: Yeah. HIMP Co: it was it was like that from the jump 'cause like a lot of the kids I'm running with, we was all in the streets doing doing what kids do. But Just the contrarian in me always was looking for something a little bit more with a little more meat on it, you know what I mean? A little bit more depth to it. Even when I was running DJ Rubbaban: There you go. HIMP Co: with my cats, I was like on that. I I started with like O and E Mob, my boy Sideshow, VI Slamming, all them kids. DJ Rubbaban: Side Show I remember Shy Show, yeah. He used to put out his music. HIMP Co: It's so man, we was Caddey B: Show my nigga. Show was one of the first people I met HIMP Co: Yeah, that's my Caddey B: out here. HIMP Co: same, same, man. It shows this this this DJ Rubbaban: So you kinda came up under that tree with tree and all of them too, huh? You guys around the same age? HIMP Co: Mmm, that's crazy. That's crazy work. man, Tree, that's my guy. And like I think I might have put him on actually. He like a couple years older than me. DJ Rubbaban: Okay, shout out to Tree. HIMP Co: He a couple years older than me. And but around the time me and VA Slam, we was doing this doing our thing. We was kind of creating in our head anyways a a label basically. You know what I mean? So I'm buying all this equipment and we got all the stuff like what's that movie with Man, tell that fell up out your pocket, man. Rhythm and flow. You know what I mean? We was living DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. HIMP Co: real life rhythm and flow up in my room, you know what I mean, playing playing the songs all the way out on the Triton keyboard and recording in the closet. And one of the cats that I had come through at the time when I was on my like, you know what I mean, Dr. Dre thinking I was gonna be the producer and have all these rappers up underneath me. Is I I hollered at some of the cats I was in the street actually doing, you know what I mean, what they was talking about and had them come in the closet and tree was one of them cats actually, man, and I And a few other cats from that time back f back from the west side. DJ Rubbaban: Man, Tree had a lot of passion for it. I remember when he would pull up on me, HIMP Co: Woo. He pushed it. He pushed it. DJ Rubbaban: Tree had a lot of passion, you know, plus he was just a hustler anyway. HIMP Co: That part, that part. Yeah, VA Slim, man, and tree them boys was hustlers, man. DJ Rubbaban: Shout out to Tree. Tree, fuck with your old boy. Caddey B: Tall boy always DJ Rubbaban: Fuck with your boy, Tree. Okay? You know I'm part of that tree. Caddey B: The tall boy always been pushing. HIMP Co: Tall boy. Tall boy. DJ Rubbaban: So how did you get to HIMP Co: Yeah, man Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbaban: Northern California? HIMP Co: Whoo, the stories, man, they get deep and lengthy. I'm gonna try to keep it concise. But man, I was just like I said, back in this was about 93, 94, the earthquake happened, that riverside earthquake, and it hit us real tough DJ Rubbaban: Mm-hmm. HIMP Co: when we was in South Central. Our house pretty much just fell apart. That had us move into like rival neighborhoods and things like that, and just created a lot of scuff and drama. And my dad had found out about Chico years prior. And so when he got that FEMA money from the earthquake, he just took that and some other dollars and pulled me and my sister up out of there. And he knew about Chico because he went to Enlo Hospital to get his leg amputated. And so he's like, Yeah, I'm gonna take y'all to paradise. And man, it it was that, especially back then. You know what I mean? This is like ninety-five, ninety-four, ninety-five, ninety-six, somewhere around there. But yeah, half of what is Chico today was still like trees back then, man. And so we just running around coming from the literal boys in the hood area to like Opie and Andy going fishing and riding dirt bikes and all that stuff, man. I was loving it. DJ Rubbaban: Man, I I loved it. I I came up here to go to school in HIMP Co: Okay. DJ Rubbaban: in eighty eight. And so HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: I came to Summerbridge Chico State. So when I came up, my feet was still wet and a whole bunch of different stuff. So when I came, school kinda helped me make that transition and I didn't even HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: wanna like DJ or produce or do nothing because I kinda came up under, you know. Compton, Leonwood, Inglewood, so those are my generation. I knew them, you know what I mean, and hung out with them and HIMP Co: Okay. huh. DJ Rubbaban: and did stuff with them. So I was trying to make my transition too, you know what I mean, like you did in Paradise, but it always was just in me, you know? It was just HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: always in me. And Chico was really a peaceful place to kind of reset, you know. It was a good HIMP Co: Big old facts. DJ Rubbaban: reset place, you know. Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I can't DJ Rubbaban: Caddy, what when did you come up here, Caddy? HIMP Co: For me it was like go ahead. Caddey B: I can't I came up here in ninety four, ninety-five, around that same time. HIMP Co: Yeah, same. Same, yeah. Caddey B: You know. My my p my my two of my older brothers came out here first because they had family out in Oreland. So my pops was in jail at the time and moms needed to get out, and so we came up here looking for something different. Wound up coming up out here. That's the way that's really the only way my dad got out of jail was cause my mom went b before the judge and was like, Hey, you let him out, I'm gonna take him out of here. You ain't never gonna see him again. And he was like, All right, I don't wanna see him again. DJ Rubbaban: And look, your dad seemed so calm. Your dad seemed like he was just calm and chill, but ready to go at any time. Caddey B: That's how Pops was. DJ Rubbaban: That's kind of you too, Caddy. That's kinda you chill. You know, Caddy, real chill, but push a button. You know, push a button. Push a button. Caddey B: That's how we gotta be though. We gotta stay dangerous, right? DJ Rubbaban: building 341, Himp C, aka Corey Hunt, aka HIMP Co: Yeah, Zero. DJ Rubbaban: the Dr. Dre of Northern California. We're gonna give them pre-90 something to now. We just gonna we're gonna keep the good energy and now. We're talking about everything. We talking about the origin story, you know, we talking about The twins he dated in Paradise. We doing all that. We talking about the groupies. We breaking Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: everything down. And and actually doing music in this in the closets. People don't put emphasis on creative ways we had to record back in the days. Like like we used to be in the HIMP Co: Yeah, that bathroom reverb. DJ Rubbaban: we used to be in the bathroom. HIMP Co: Yes, sir, that bathroom reverb. DJ Rubbaban: The bathroom rever. So Caddy got some good questions. Caddey B: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: I'ma shut up for a minute, Caddy. So you. Caddey B: We got some So let's see where we at? Where we at? DJ Rubbaban: We did the origin story. We didn't ask him nothing bad Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: about South Central, you know, cause he puffing and chilling with his dreads. We trying to stay HIMP Co: Ha ha ha. DJ Rubbaban: positive. We ain't talking about, you the Crip days, the Pyro days. We ain't HIMP Co: Let me see. DJ Rubbaban: getting into none of that. Who he socked up in South Central, none of that. HIMP Co: Why you do it? How you do it? I wasn't there. They told me I wasn't there. My representation said DJ Rubbaban: See, see? He wasn't there. His colors look Caddey B: Huh huh. So is there anything is there anything that you recorded years ago that you hear now and think like, nah, I wouldn't say that shit. HIMP Co: The stuff that I recorded back then, but I don't hear it no more. Like I remember we used to have these sessions at the homeboy Seabrome, Rest in Peace. The homie Chad. We used to have one of them two two tape deck situations, you know what I mean? With the the karaoke joint, DJ Rubbaban: Okay. HIMP Co: be wrapping into a you put the beat on one tape and then you record over it onto the other tape. And back then this is like Eminem Viking and cover days. So I'm in there drinking 40s and smoking with the homies, just saying the raunchiest. Shit, I could think of just sharpening the sword, you know what I mean? Coming up with beats, we making like 20 beats a night and just freestyling all night. And that's really where I got a lot of my ability with that people know me for, which is the ability to just freestyle for hours and hours, was in those night sessions. But man, the stuff I was talking about back then, I'm glad I hope nobody finds them tapes, boys. It be rough. That's my internet right there, them cassette tapes. DJ Rubbaban: But sometimes though that kind of stuff kind of gives you perspective and is a slice of where you was at 17, 18. You know. HIMP Co: At that time. Yes, sir. Big old facts. Caddey B: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: It it kind of like when later on we'll ask you about who would be your dream to record with and do a song. And mine kind HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: of changes as time goes on, you know. And HIMP Co: Yes sir. Yes sir. DJ Rubbaban: and kind of being in a game myself a little bit, like. lot of rappers that I know now that was big now just regular people and you listen to them and they don't cuss like that or they HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: humble because life, you know, life will just humble you. You know? And sometimes, Caddey B: That part. DJ Rubbaban: you know, we get a good girl and then sometimes we get a bad girl and we don't realize HIMP Co: Hm. DJ Rubbaban: that when we get a bad one, we don't prosper the same. You know what I mean? Cause they put holes HIMP Co: Mm, mm. DJ Rubbaban: in the game. So the music is different. And then if you do music and in and the limited what we found about you and w and us asking the streets, you know what I mean, you gon spit and you you you HIMP Co: Connectors, yeah. DJ Rubbaban: chill will. You know what mean? You chill will. So HIMP Co: Yeah that's you got Check, check, check, check, check, there we go. Caddey B: There you go. You back? DJ Rubbaban: One two, one two Yup, we can hear you. HIMP Co: Yeah, we can hear you. Check, check, check. We back. All right, it's just hopefully you stay locked this time. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. So we just had a little tech we just Caddey B: We back. DJ Rubbaban: had a few difficulties cause he went in the closet to show us that old microphone where he was doing his thing at back in the days. You know? So HIMP Co: Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: we gon' just pick it back up, So HIMP Co: Big Facts Ma for your DJ Rubbaban: So tell me tell me one of the things I saw you at the KRS one show. HIMP Co: Yes, sir. DJ Rubbaban: And I and I saw that you had a stage presence. I saw that you just kinda got up there and kinda tore it up. You was in your own world. Like you didn't you didn't get intimidated that it was it was the teacher there, you know? And and Yeah. HIMP Co: It's all in the magic though, you know what I mean? In my head, I was definitely feeling it. I was feeling it. He right there and he watching. So I was feeling it. I'm just like, but it's many hours. The 10,000 hours kick in, and I'm just like knowing I just gotta tap into that 10,000 and knowing that I didn't did the work and trust the work type shit. That's really where I was at in my head there for a second. So if you watch like the first couple goes, I'm trying to feel everybody because I'm cipher guy, you know what I mean? I'm like trying to feel the cipher. DJ Rubbaban: Exactly. HIMP Co: Let everybody get where they need to get and make sure that everything and then then I finally hit my my little joint, man. And I was man, I I had a good time at that show for sure. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. And and I and I was just, you know, the spooky set by the door. I was just observing. I was like, okay. You know, because I'm like, cause Caddy is turning, he was like, so-and-so. You remember so-and-so? I was like, that's him? That's so-and-so. Okay, da-da-da. So it HIMP Co: It's been a while. It's been a while. DJ Rubbaban: and you know, it's just like doing a podcast or or or me DJing or whatever I do presenting. I'm always in my head before, and HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: I'm I got my butterflies before. And as soon as I turn it on. I just go. I just caddy HIMP Co: It's a go time. DJ Rubbaban: probably be tripping on me. I'm like, I just, I just go. Caddey B: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: I'm like, Caddy, I'm gonna be quiet. I'm gonna be quiet. I ain't saying nothing. And then I'm running my head. Even DJing, I'm HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: like, you know, already because a lot of times with my DJ friends, they'll go, man, you want to do a set, man? You want? I'll be like, no, I'm cool. This you, this you, baby. No, no, no, no, no. No. I get comfortable with their stuff. Man, give me my stuff back, man. You doing too much. Give me my stuff back. 'Cause it's just in us, you know what I mean? It's in us. HIMP Co: Hmm, they go facts. Caddey B: I've came out I've came out of the bar and going to another spot and Himp will be out there and he got a cipher on the curb just all of a sudden he just started in a minute. And he just out there just going. DJ Rubbaban: That's what I wanna hear. That's what I want. Caddey B: I got a recording somewhere on one of my on one of my phones from like HIMP Co: Mm. Caddey B: five years back. I'm gonna pull that out. DJ Rubbaban: So so tell us, ain't nobody got HIMP Co: Man shut go ahead. DJ Rubbaban: you here? HIMP Co: In a cipher? DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. HIMP Co: You know what? I lost. The only time I ever battled, I lost. It was at LaSalle's. And it's cause they had me going against a lady, and I just soft I soft DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. HIMP Co: shoot it and I was just like, I didn't I didn't I kinda go didn't know how to really I couldn't go at her. And so that's a one time now that I lost. Mm-hmm. So that's a one DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. Yeah, you ca 'cause the crowd 'cause it's really the crowd, yeah. It's the you can't go HIMP Co: time. DJ Rubbaban: you can't do the B word, you can't do this, you can't you know you gotta HIMP Co: I mean, in hindsight, you could do whatever you're gonna do. You know what I mean? You just gotta do you just gotta do a full force. And that's what I really learned with this whole hip hop thing is it's an energy thing, you know what I mean? And so I really just lost my DJ Rubbaban: Definitely. HIMP Co: energy and I should have just came and been solid in me, whatever I'ma say. You could say anything as long as you solid and you really standing on it, people gonna they gonna go with you for the most part. And then they could just feel that I wasn't standing on whatever I was talking about because I felt uncomfortable in that position. And it it really let me know I'm just not a battle rapper at the same time. That's the other thing. You know what I mean? I'm a cipher cat to where it's like, I'm trying to help help you get better. I'm gonna sh I'm gonna show you that I'm better than you. So I can show you there's room to grow. You know what I mean? And then I'm gonna help you try I'm gonna try to help you get there as well. You know what I mean? I'm not gonna just be like, you down there, I'm up here. I'm like, nah, we could be up here. Look at this. See what see what I'm doing right here. This is what we could be doing, type shit. DJ Rubbaban: Or and then making that transition into making records to where it's a whole nother vibe, you know? It's a whole nother kind of energy making records, you know. HIMP Co: Y'all still got me? See, this I think my audio cut out again. You got me? Okay. For sure. My fault. Caddey B: Yeah. No, you're good. Yeah, yeah, no. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, we still got you. I still got you. Look, so before I want so before the I want the mic to so you don't so the only time you really technically lost was from a female. Was she dope? Was she dope? HIMP Co: Yes, sir. You're the black female that. She was decent. She was decent. You know what I mean? It's it's like hate to sound misogynistic, but for me it's like NBA W NBA when it comes to bars, you know DJ Rubbaban: Right. HIMP Co: what I mean? Like when it comes to dudes, for whatever reason, it's just because it's natural for us in in in hip hop, there is a a Mochismo aspect of it, you know what I mean? So we kind of got that advantage when it comes to really being dope at rapping, in my personal opinion. to where it's a little bit hard, like we can naturally just dunk, you know what I'm saying? Where it's like it's rare to see like you got the rhapsodies that can dunk. You know what I mean? It's gonna be the br the once in a l in a few lifetime Britney Griner type female MC that can really DJ Rubbaban: Mm-hmm. HIMP Co: just get it, get it like that. And so for a female MC, she was dope. Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: Okay. Now let me ask you, so in terms of sometimes in being an artist, the music we listen to, people don't realize that we might listen to Nina Simone. You know what I mean? Like, so give us a give HIMP Co: you know it, please believe it. DJ Rubbaban: us a couple artists that you that you keep in your on your list, on your playlist, who you listening to, old or new? HIMP Co: Bruh, I'm I I come up under the DJs like yourself, man. And so I am all over the place, bro. Like, man, I'm listening to everything. DJ Rubbaban: Okay. So you A D D on music? HIMP Co: Bruh, bruh. I'm I'm all the way to France. You know what I mean? I'm listening to stuff from Brazil, man. I'm listening to my lady got me listening to Brittany Carlisle. I'm I'm working with these kids at work. They got me listening to, you know what I'm saying, Evanescence. You know what I'm saying? I'm a I'm DJ Rubbaban: Okay. HIMP Co: all the way around the map. And then There's me, I'm I'm in my locksmith, you know what I mean, immortal technique bag, you know what I mean, Tupac gonna stay in rotation type shit. And when it comes to inspirations to go back to your other, like if it's your inspiration, my truest inspiration is probably Pac. I come from that generation where it was like he was just going so hard and it was just where life and and society was at the time as far as internet kind of really just first coming on and you know, the the group think. first really being a thing at at the level that it's kind of becoming with social media and everything, Tupac was kinda like original with that from from my generation. And I was right there along with all of the spinning at the cameras and flipping them off and all of that. DJ Rubbaban: So we usually ask on building three forty one, we can't even ask you Caddey B: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: this one, but I'ma ask you. So if you was on a deserted island and you have five HIMP Co: Heard that DJ Rubbaban: you have five artists you could only listen to for the next couple years, could you even pick five? HIMP Co: That would be terrible. That'd be I'd be in hell. Five artists for the rest of my life would be crazy DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, that A D D Ma, you can't do it all. HIMP Co: work. It would burn out so fast. I mean, I could pick them. It'd be Yay immediately. It's gonna be Yay up DJ Rubbaban: Okay, yay. HIMP Co: there. It's gonna be Pac right there. Dot right behind that. I got two more, so now I gotta get out of hip hop and I gotta go somewhere way far off and go into like. DJ Rubbaban: Okay we HIMP Co: Some some reggae gotta be Bob. DJ Rubbaban: Okay. HIMP Co: No, scratch DJ Rubbaban: Okay. HIMP Co: that. I'ma I'ma scratch Bob and I'ma go with Peter Tosh, you know what I mean, just to make it to where I could find a bunch of fresh that I ain't even heard. And then for that last one, it's gonna be DJ Rubbaban: gotta find a native girl on the island, man. You need something to to blow with and and get your you know Caddey B: This HIMP Co: You ain't never Caddey B: is HIMP Co: you you be on it you be on it man you ain't never like who is that? What is that? That's gotta be man I'm gonna go with Dale. I'm gonna go with Dell actually. I see DJ Rubbaban: Okay. Adele? HIMP Co: how put you I see that's but yeah man that's gonna be my DJ Rubbaban: No no no. We Caddey B: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: No, we music his too, so we listen to Caddy be sending me stuff, like different little crazy stuff, and then we get into his whole story about it and and this and that and HIMP Co: y'all gotta throw me in that group chat. I'm I'm trying to get in on that for surely. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah man, we just be on some and then Caddy is not Caddey B: I am. I'm gonna start I'm gonna start a a group chat with a bunch of music heads and just drop tracks in DJ Rubbaban: That'll be good, that'll be dope. Caddey B: there. So that way everybody can just drop a track in here, here and there, whatever you feeling. Cause I do it with with rubber HIMP Co: Yeah, big old facts. Caddey B: and and and his and his son, who's a producer HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. Caddey B: Chris Galaxy, so just randomly just throw out a track. HIMP Co: Mm hmm. Mm-hmm. From anywhere, all over. DJ Rubbaban: yeah. And you and you know some of what we wanna take away some of the the the myths too is is that music or at least hip hop music is only for new heads. And so we HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: all bring something to the table. And if you notice hemp, a lot of legacy artists are putting out albums. My boy E forty just put out an album. HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: So many people been putting out the album these last two years. Public Enemy, Slake Rick, a lot of people have been putting out and HIMP Co: Erica Badu with Alchemist. Yeah. Caddey B: Everybody. DJ Rubbaban: it that's dope. Yeah, like how you feel about that? Like how do you feel about Caddey B: Yeah, that was dope. Yeah, yeah. The Rock the Rock Him and D P G and Wu Tang. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. When we gon' hear now from you, a whole album. It don't HIMP Co: Bruh. DJ Rubbaban: it's not it don't take a whole bunch of money no more, it don't take a whole lot of time now. HIMP Co: It's that perfectionism, man. I just gotta let it go. DJ Rubbaban: You gotta let it go, man. They need to hear the word. HIMP Co: So I got a whole album recorded, but I don't got the stems. A buddy of mine that I was recording it with, he just fell in on hard times or whatever. And so it's just about re-recording that album really. So that's where I'm at right now in the early stages of just trying to figure out exactly how I wanna approach it. For a while I was just sitting back like, I'm just starting a new project. I'm and the fact that I just had all that back there was kind of stifling my ability to really just lock in on something new. So I got I gotta get that out. You know what I mean? And the way I'm gonna do it is just I'm working with some kids DJ Rubbaban: Me HIMP Co: and we we we in the jamming stages of it now, but yeah, I'm gonna try to transfer that old project to a new project and just get that off my chest. And DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. HIMP Co: I think that's probably gonna be the next thing I I come up with. DJ Rubbaban: You gotta do it. Already got a title. Closet Sessions. I already got one. I already got one. Closet Sessions. Man. Caddey B: The closet files. HIMP Co: Bruh, that came out already. Y'all gotta already y'all gotta get the closet sessions, but that came out already. That was Chico unsigned height. He said you want that new version. No, DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. No, we want it we want it perfected with you now. With you now. HIMP Co: you ain't not you ain't lied. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, yeah. So Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: what's the day in the life of Himp C aka Corey? HIMP Co: Bruh, most of is getting up, four in the morning, heading down to the cafe downtown in Chico, whipping up a bunch of salads and sandwiches, heading back home, passing out, do it again. A little bit of T V and writing in between, you know what I'm saying, for the most part. But, you know, if I get lucky, then I get to go out of town DJ Rubbaban: Okay, no res. HIMP Co: and go do something. DJ Rubbaban: And then you crazy on the mic. You crazy on the mic. Now, I HIMP Co: That's what they say. DJ Rubbaban: got a question, and you tell me if it's too deep. You tell me if it's too deep. So we interviewed HIMP Co: Never know. DJ Rubbaban: we interviewed Lynn Brown. He ran Tower Records, both Tower Records of Chico. We interviewed him. HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: And we talked about emo you know, he put out five or six albums and he's gone through different, you know, like he put a CD out for his children. He did more of a Caddey B: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: folky kind of like we talked about the different variations and things HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: along the way that touch you. And listening to doing my research on you, one and I'm only gonna say this because you said it in the interview. my dad passed away last year, Caddy B's dad passed away, and then in the interview you talked about your dad who meant a lot to you. Did that change your musical perspective? Did it change hemp? Did you instead of saying, Motherfucker, come here, did you say, Could you please come over here? Like, what did it do to you, hemp? Give me give me something. HIMP Co: Man, I could give you I could give you pieces and parts, but man, a big one, DJ Rubbaban: That's all we want is building three forty one. HIMP Co: a big one is just man, it stifled the the creation or the out creative output a little bit. And cause I just was grieving, you know what I mean, and just the inability to like when I put it out there, it seems like I'm real public and whatnot, but it's all like y'all know what we choose to put out there, you know what I mean? And there's so much more on the other side of the iceberg. And man, It just got real small what I was putting out there because there was just a lot going on inside. And that's to this day, man. Still just my c my output from before he passed to this day is just it just never came back fully, really like that. You know what I mean? It br it broke my heart, man. And and that's where I perform from. And so now it's like I I do a lot of art more so just on like commission. You know what I mean? And people is like, can you do something for this? Can you do something for that? And I'm And I can lock in and bang it out. But like to just really just sit down. Like I said, I got that album that's just been sitting collecting dust. I could have remade that a minute ago, but it's just been the ability to just really sit with my heart. Sit with my heart open. You know what I mean? It's been a I mean, I don't I I try DJ Rubbaban: That the closet version. Right. Caddey B: It's that it's that person it's that personal motivation that can't get up there. That inside motivation DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, dude. HIMP Co: to be real intent with words, so I won't, I won't say can't, but it hasn't. You know what I'm saying? It hasn't. And but DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. HIMP Co: it's getting there. It's getting there. It's a slow and steady build and it's about being at peace with where you're at in the process that helps me move forward with it for sure, man. But just conversations like this for sure and and talking to folks from back in the day kind of open up, you know, pieces of the brain and the mind in a real healthy way, man. So I appreciate y'all for having me on here, man. It's been it's been nice. DJ Rubbaban: yeah, man. And and and and and Caddey B: yeah. DJ Rubbaban: respect and love on the dad tip because HIMP Co: Same, same brother. DJ Rubbaban: my when when when when that happens to you, people can't tell you how you're supposed to feel or who you're supposed HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: to be. And then being black men, you know, society says we're not supposed to show emotion, you supposed to drink, do whatever, whatever. And and then me and my dad share the same name. So seeing Bit, you know, seeing a thing with my name on there too. It didn't say DJ Rubber. HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: It said my government, you know, and so it was HIMP Co: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: even on Building 341, I wear his jersey sometime, or I wear other stuff from him, and just kinda, HIMP Co: Keep it on. DJ Rubbaban: you know. I'ma say one, I'ma say one, y'all don't have to say it. I'ma say one funny story about my dad. So my dad lived in Houston, Texas. So he was old school. He had come out here to see me. So You know, it's a little bit more diverse out in California, right? So my boy married to a bad white girl, right? Bad white girl. So we we in the car and we on our way to the house, right? To my boy house. His my boy wasn't there yet. His wife was working in the in the yard. And so I told him, I said, Man, tell so-and-so, make sure she hugged my dad when she sees him. Da da da. So we get out the car. We get out the car, you get out the car. I was like, Dad, that go a bad one for you right there, dad. Just you know, he you know, my my stepbob, you know. I said, they go bad. And he talked, you know, Southern talking crazy. I said, Dad. So he was like, What, what, what, what, you got me out here? What this white woman. She walked up to him and gave him a hug, like a tight hug. I said, Daddy, daddy, you still got it. Boy, he laughed so hard. He said, Boy, you crazy, just like me. Boy, you crazy. And I Man, that's my boy's wife. How you do it? And he tell that story and variations of that story. And you know, the little things like that, I remember him laughing, you know, just him, you know, messing with him. Boy, you be on the radio. Why you do that, boy? You be on the radio talking shit. I'm always like, I get that from you. And he laughed, you know what I mean? Laugh. So. And Brian Pops was smooth too. You know, he was smooth too. You know. Your mom was the gangster. Caddey B: Yeah, mom's was the gangster, for sure. For sure. DJ Rubbaban: But he was smo he was a smooth killer though, you know, he was a smooth killer, you know. Shout out Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: Pops, all of man. Shout out. So right now, right now, Himp, you don't have any music in the pipeline getting ready to make the transition to online. HIMP Co: It's all in the early, early stages. Like I said, I'm I'm working with cats like Michael Bone from like the Bog Jazz crew back in the day. And and Gavin, his bass player, and then my boy Bo on the drums and we working on something, but we in the early, early stages. I'm probably actually gonna run over there after after I get off of here and do some jamming, but we got like a few gigs of just freestyles and them them improvising, you know what I'm saying? But we just gotta sit down and like actually polish it up and get to the you know I mean the hard part of actually making d the choices. DJ Rubbaban: Now I'm gonna throw this out, Himp. Look, look, I ain't seen HIMP Co: I heard that. DJ Rubbaban: you in hella long. I'm just gonna throw this out. Caddy knows I'm crazy. You know what you could do, Himp? You know what? HIMP Co: What's cracking? DJ Rubbaban: You can shoot us a little second or two, building 341 Freestyle. We can put it on the show. You give us a little something. Give us a little something. You know, you just say DJ Rubber HIMP Co: Right here with no beat? DJ Rubbaban: Band and Caddy B and whatever. You know? Yeah, just give us a little something. HIMP Co: you talking about recording and send it to you? that's easy money. That's easy money, my boy. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, build a three hundred forty one. Yeah, build a three forty one. You know, we HIMP Co: No mone. Diä mone. DJ Rubbaban: back in the day should we back in the day we called it radio station ID, but it could be however you want it. Build a three forty HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: one. What say whatever. We know Caddey B: Mr. Clean Dominic, he trying to do a a Friday freestyles. He was hitting me. I HIMP Co: Is that right? DJ Rubbaban: So so Dom so Dom is doing freestyles now? Caddey B: was like, Yeah. He said he wants to put together HIMP Co: That's what I'm saying. Caddey B: a a Friday freestyle. He wanna know if we could do it on the show or HIMP Co: Okay. I remember he was DJ Rubbaban: What? Caddey B: do a Friday freestyle. And I was like, I was like, I'll throw it out there. We'll talk to some people. DJ Rubbaban: Man, I gotta see down. HIMP Co: I seen dabble. I seen dabble. I seen dabble a little bit in the deck. DJ Rubbaban: I seen him dabble too. I seen them dabble Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: too. Okay. Look, with your tutelage, Caddey B: You know. DJ Rubbaban: him with your tutelage, he can make it happen. And if worse come to worse, he Caddey B: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: can take off his shirt. You know he used to be buff back in the days. Yeah, yeah. that's my people right there. Yeah, that's my folks right there. That's my folks. Caddey B: Yeah. HIMP Co: I know he still gotta have it. You know that boy ain't let it go. no, no. Yeah, yeah, it's my guy. It's my guy. Caddey B: that's my nigga. DJ Rubbaban: Okay, so Caddey B: Good old Dom. DJ Rubbaban: the music is coming through the pipeline. We potentially might get a get a ID for the show. Life is HIMP Co: that's a fact. DJ Rubbaban: Good. Caddey B: We're inspiring you to get back in there moving forward. DJ Rubbaban: Mm-hmm. HIMP Co: I'm in there. I just gotta get it out of there. You know what I'm saying? Like I'll be, you know, y'all know me. I'm a key, I'm gonna be rapping, but I just gotta put put it out there. You know what I'm saying? I got art that I could be putting out there, but it's just about standards and trying to actually put it to a level that maybe I maybe I'm not gonna get it to. So I just gotta get it out type shit. DJ Rubbaban: But sometimes you can't be in your head with it though. You know, like like say me and Caddy, right? Me HIMP Co: It's hard. It's hard. DJ Rubbaban: and Caddy, right? I'll be like, no, no, no. Let's da da da. He was like, rubber, let's just do it. Let's rubber. Like sometimes we just in our head. Yeah. Yeah. We I'm I'm in my head. HIMP Co: That's what you need. You need somebody like that. You need that person that's just like, No, let's just just go. Just go. 'Cause I'm gonna be like, nah, but we could all I Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. HIMP Co: could always find improvement, you know what I mean? I'm like, but we could always just do this and do this and then do this and at some point you just gotta let it live with everything, man. That's a story. Caddey B: I found that it's easier to like with this, I found that it's easier for us to just get down and just do it. And HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. Caddey B: once we got it here, then I can sit down and I can play with it, I can edit it. But once we HIMP Co: Pero with it. Mm-hmm. Caddey B: got it, then it's fine. HIMP Co: No, that's my writing process too, is just sitting down and doing it. DJ Rubbaban: Man, this podcast day. yeah. yeah. And and see Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: the thing about producing, you have a little bit more control because you just going through tracks, you taking this out, or you and then when you're doing a podcast, sometimes we set up for a podcast, and then something happened to where we can't do it, and then me and him just sitting there talking, and we get HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: more views from that. So Energy and how it goes is just how it goes sometimes. You know what mean? Yeah. HIMP Co: Mm. Big old facts. Yes, our ski. Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbaban: So you blessed us today and we might get look, we might get two IDs. We might get two clips. Cause 'cause in your head you thinking about something like, No, I'm gonna give them this one, no, no, I'm gonna give this one. And we're gonna be like, Okay, okay, okay, you know. HIMP Co: Yeah, source games. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah yeah yeah. Caddey B: We can set up we can set up, you know, if you wanna start doing some ciphers, you get a couple other people, we can do ciphers right on here. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, yeah, HIMP Co: Yes, sir. DJ Rubbaban: yeah. HIMP Co: I ain't mad at it. Yeah, no, that's the way to go too. Caddey B: We can do a s we can do a cipher session. Those are those are your those are your wheelhouse. HIMP Co: When we could get yeah, DJ Rubbaban: yeah. HIMP Co: when we get people remote, that's even easier. You know, I mean that was one of the hardest parts about setting them up. DJ Rubbaban: And then I seen you and on that freestyle, I seen you just throwing stuff out, you know, doing it like, you know, such and such. You was looking at your boy and boom, boom, boom. Yeah. No fear though, dog. I HIMP Co: Yeah, that's that's that's how you let know. That's how you let know it's real. You know what I mean? He'd be like, Yeah, we in I'm in here right now with y'all to talk about, you know what I mean, my man with the S D hat. DJ Rubbaban: about that Diego. Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: That's San Diego. Look, and I still I'm trying to be a good interviewer. I didn't even ask you about your LA ties or nothing. Trying to stay clean. W this is for the kids. This is for the kids. HIMP Co: I'm yeah, yeah. Him co is for the kids. Him co is for the kids. Man, it's been a long journey though. DJ Rubbaban: Is this for the kid? So man, anything else you want to tell us about before we get off? Like you what you got coming up? You got you you doing jam sessions. That sounded HIMP Co: Big old folks. DJ Rubbaban: that sounding really good. You threw out some drummas and all that. You working with the kids. What are you teaching HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: the kids? HIMP Co: So man, I got I'm working at this cafe. That's where I'm really teaching the kids, bruh. They got me in here managing. And so man, it's just passing on what pops gave to me, you know what I'm saying? On a daily basis, just work ethic, DJ Rubbaban: There you go. There you go. HIMP Co: you know what I mean, all the different things of character, character building and all these different things. It's like just trying to be a good a steward of the the sp spaces that I'm Giving, you know what I'm saying? Just DJ Rubbaban: Doing it. yeah, you doing it. You doing it. HIMP Co: Something of that, something of that nature, you know what I mean? And like you said, trying to get it back to the art. I done got this new laptop that I'm on right here. Got all the old school programs and everything. Been trying to get just make sure I'm disciplined and sit down and spend the time, you know what I mean? Cause when you put the time in, what you're looking for is gonna come out eventually, you know what I mean? And so that's where I'm at right now. It's just trying to really get regimen with, you know what I mean, putting the time into the things that I wanna see come come out of it and be that example for these kids as they see me doing the same thing. DJ Rubbaban: Okay, now all of that is good. And I want you to think about this next question. And then this is my last question. Current HIMP Co: Heard out. Gotcha. DJ Rubbaban: music right now. Current music HIMP Co: Uh-huh. DJ Rubbaban: right now. Who you listening to? Cause this is our debate. We me and Caddy had this all the time. Current music, you listen to the new amigos, you listen to who you listening to? HIMP Co: Not that. Currently. Caddey B: Ha ha ha. DJ Rubbaban: Is it new boom back? HIMP Co: Currently. DJ Rubbaban: Like give us something. HIMP Co: I'm trying to think. Like I said, man, I'd be all over the place. Dot, I'm a huge K-Dot fan, man. So I'm still on that. I gave DJ Rubbaban: Okay. HIMP Co: that I gave that AZ Cyke a spin. I I was like, it was all right. It wasn't the greatest, it wasn't terrible. It was all right. I gotta give Caddey B: I was listening to that. Yeah, it was decent. HIMP Co: it another spin. Cause I'm I'm also like a multi-spinner, you know what I mean? I'll spin something the first time and be like, ugh, this is terrible, and then That second go, it hit totally different, you know what I'm saying? So I gotta give that a few more spins. Same thing with that Alchemist and Erika Badu. I just gotta give them all a few more spins. But what I'm thinking of like up, man, that Freddie Gibbs. DJ Rubbaban: What about one of your homebrones? Caddey B: Did you did you did you did you listen to that that Czarface and Frankie Pulitzer? HIMP Co: I haven't even sat with it yet. Nope. I haven't even sat with it. DJ Rubbaban: What about Razcast from your hometown? HIMP Co: t yeah, I'm heavy on cast, but i I thought we was talking about like newer cast. We so we just talking about anybody DJ Rubbaban: yeah, new. I can't say new. I know he got a newer, I know he's doing some freestyle something, but but just new. Caddey B: He he dropped an album not too long ago. HIMP Co: No, I mean I thought we meant like newer artists. We talking about we talking about just artists in general DJ Rubbaban: But he's still but he's not considered yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Caddey B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. HIMP Co: or newer artists. Like for a newish artist, like Freddie Gibbs, he kinda older now at this point now too. But that's I DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, he kinda older too. HIMP Co: can s I consider that a newish man. But like beyond that, it starts getting getting a little shaky for me. You know, I mean, I'll give it I give it all spins, but as far as like throwing it in the the actual Rolodex and and putting it in the library. Man, not a lot of this stuff got staying power, you know what mean? Like I remember when that little baby came out, I was spending that for like a year. You know what I mean? But now DJ Rubbaban: Okay. HIMP Co: I go back to it, I'm like, you don't really I can't really sit with it for too long no more. It's things like that. So a lot of the newer stuff what's up. DJ Rubbaban: We gon' give you little baby. We gon we gon' keep little baby look, we gon' give you little baby. That's you right there. It's like me and Slick Rick, you know, the baby is yours. Caddey B: then but then again what is what is new? Like you know what I mean? Like what is a new artist? Like HIMP Co: That part. Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. Caddey B: you know, 'cause there's artists that don't have a whole lot of albums out but that are maybe their R age or whatever, so they're kind of new. So HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. Yeah. I mean, yeah, you got that Griselda type situation, them kids. Caddey B: yeah, that that Fuego that Fueg that Fuego bass and Black S Black Soprano, that new one they just came out with, HIMP Co: Mm, mm. Caddey B: that was some fire. Yeah. And then you DJ Rubbaban: But you know what? Like HIMP Co: So like Caddey B: got the you got the crime apple. That one's DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, yeah. HIMP Co: Mm. Caddey B: good. HIMP Co: Man, it's like it reminded me of when I used to DJ Rubbaban: But the space that you in when you listen to it too, you know. HIMP Co: That's heavy for me right now. And so that's Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. HIMP Co: why I'm like, I'm in another I'm in another country right now. With a lot of my with my listening, I find myself with a lot of Portuguese music, man, for some reason. Spanish music too, a lot of Spanish and Portuguese right now. A little bit of French. And like a lot of time I don't even be knowing what they're talking about, but it's just the vibes, you know what I'm saying? And so I'm really on just a vibe tip. DJ Rubbaban: Man, I like him. Man, I like him be talking that shit. Look, I like that. I'm in another country right now. I like that right there. I like that him. He be talking and he talking smooth too. He don't he don't put a lot of layers on it. He just put it on there. I like that. I like talk that. Talk that. Look. HIMP Co: No, I vibe with you, Rubbaban We was around each other long, long ago, man. You put it you put you put some sauce on me back in the day. And so a lot of what DJ Rubbaban: I did? Okay. HIMP Co: yeah, man, big old facts, man. Back in back in the KZFR days and all of that. You you DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. HIMP Co: had a show, you had a show on KZFR back in the day. Am I wrong? You DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, I had I had a show on there for about fifteen yeah, fifteen years or so. Yeah, but I did other radio too. Yeah. I yeah, I kinda started that at Kate at at Chico, really, in terms of hip hop. I had to f look, Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. Freedom of death. HIMP Co: shit. I didn't know. Okay, okay, but I think I came up there though. Exactly, exactly. That part. DJ Rubbaban: you know when you first you get it the worst, you know. They just, you know. HIMP Co: It's the it ain't never changed out here though, unfortunately, man. It's just a it's an energy that's always just been kind of pushing back against it, man, the whole time to where right now the scene is is is sparse as I've ever seen it, man. Cause it just ain't got the custodian out there like how you was doing it, or you know what I mean? Jump out was doing it at one point, and and somebody, you know, I mean, all the cats, IQ. No, always, always, always. DJ Rubbaban: Right. But it's it's it's still people out there. You know what I mean? Like like my boy DNA is back. DNA is a promoter. And actually HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: it was a l doing my doing my time doing it, it would be a lot of underground people that would just hit me up. Musicians, rock bands, HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: country, they would just be like, and again, me and him was talking about my son, and we was talking about Hip hop, just a culture. Sometimes you want to rap, but sometimes you got to just MC. Sometimes you make a beat and it's dope. HIMP Co: Mm. I hear you, bro. Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: And you go and they buy the song, but they don't really want the song. They want you. And so HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: part of this hip hop is learning how to move in different rooms, different scenarios. HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: Like for me, doing KZFR, I've had people call me and go. I need you in LA or New York tomorrow. I got you a ticket and so and so. And my rent in Chico was 300. And they send me some HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: L's. You know what mean? And and really they just wanted my energy and me to say HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: a little something. And me and B was talking about sometimes when we in spaces of just this culture, it be us that be slowing us down because we just want to do it how we want to do it. You know, we Caddey B: Mm. Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: gotta. You know what I'm saying? We gotta it's HIMP Co: It's a whole damn board, my boy. Yes, sir. DJ Rubbaban: like it's you know, it's just like you know, it's just what it is. I didn't have D boys that can't really rap, they go, here, here's a bunch of money, put this on, play and I'm and I play it. You know what I mean? Or I go, HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: man, let me get you work with my it's classic. Man, work with my boy Himp, man. Work with my boy Himp, he's gonna help you with your flow. But no, I HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: don't need that. Man, work on my and I'm gonna go to you and I'm be like, here, here goes some here go some money. Just work with your boy, just he can't really spell, he can't HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: really pronunciate anything. Himp, watch some movies with him, hemp. Watch some movies with him so he can blow up his vocabulary. Cause you be talking about energy and other spaces on spaceships and shit like that. You need him. Like, we need to be like that, Himp You know, we gotta be in the rooms with each other, you know? HIMP Co: Big old facts, man. That part. And that's what that's what it took me living to understand. You know what I mean? I definitely got in my own way, something severe. Like B was asking me something about like at a certain point that I think it was about to just blow, you know what I mean? And for sure. And then it just didn't. And a huge part of that was just me, you know what I mean? Living life, that trauma gets you too. That's why I I feel for cats that be DJ Rubbaban: There you go. HIMP Co: in that head space. Where they like just DJ Rubbaban: There you go. HIMP Co: blocking they blessings. And then it's like you looking from the outside and you you barking at them like, nigga, you got blessings right here, bro. And you just blocking them, but you gotta also look but right behind why the why the dog is barking like that. You know what I mean? And the reason is it's got a thorn in his side, you know what I'm saying? And things that's been happening to it. And so true with true indeed with myself, you know what I mean, growing up, going through the nonsense and having that regret, I think it really put a chip on my shoulder that that had me. perpetuating the the frustration, you know what I'm saying, by doing things DJ Rubbaban: Right. HIMP Co: that's just, you know what I mean, making it harder. And then DJ Rubbaban: Right. HIMP Co: blessings of having the father in my life, man. He was saying it and it was hitting back here. And then eventually, DJ Rubbaban: Mm-hmm. HIMP Co: after you bump your head enough, that shit get to the front. You know what I'm saying? And I figured it out. Like, no, he's on to something, you know what I mean? Let DJ Rubbaban: yeah. HIMP Co: me p hold on to this humble humbleness when it's time to, you know what I mean? So I s so people wanna actually be around me, you know what I'm And And it's a balance though, you know what I mean? Cause sometimes people try to humble you out of your spot. You know what I'm saying? And and you ain't you DJ Rubbaban: They do, yeah. HIMP Co: ain't standing on business no more. And so it's about finding that balance of like not being leaning forward, but also not leaning back. And it's a it's a life journey for me. Big old facts, man. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. DJ Rubbaban: But teaching each other by example. You know, teaching each other by example, like one Caddey B: yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbaban: of my one of my big homies used to always say. Rubber man, these niggas want me to bring out Baby Roscoe. Like, they want me to be. I was like, we don't want Baby Roscoe. Baby Rock so nah. Like, man, I'm HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: like, and he had to transition and he understood he needed to be who he was when he was a Chico. You can't be baby Roscoe. You know what I mean? Baby Roscoe was a gangster. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Gonna get you in trouble. Yeah, man. He's gonna get your blessings taken. DJ Rubbaban: You need to be smooth talking about. Caddey B: yeah. DJ Rubbaban: Being in other spaceships and and going to the UK and all that jazzy stuff you be hollering, you know, blowing, you know. It's all good. Building three forty one. HIMP Co: Yes, sir. Caddey B: Yeah. Yeah, I think when we younger DJ Rubbaban: Appreciate you. Caddey B: too, like being that, you know, all of us moved from Southern California at younger ages, especially us being like teens, like we had like I know I did when I came up here, 'cause everybody down there was just like, yeah, you going out into the country. We don't even know what that space is. You're gonna come back in overalls and a straw hat and HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. Caddey B: so when we first come up here it's like you like, nah, fuck that. I'm from the hood. Like fuck these niggas out here. They a bunch of bitch ass niggas. They smarks. You just wanna constantly be active and just be like but then like you gotta realize HIMP Co: Yeah. Caddey B: that those emotions like don't get you nowhere. Like you gotta like kinda grow up. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, yeah. When I met Caddy, HIMP Co: Man, it can be painful. It can be painful. DJ Rubbaban: yeah. When I met Caddy, he had an afro like this, skinny HIMP Co: I remember that. DJ Rubbaban: walking down the street talking crazy. And I told my boy, I told my boy Paul Grider, I was like, I like that little nigga right there. Who was that? I like that little nigga. You know what I mean? And after that, we we we was always Gucci. Always, always. Always, you know. HIMP Co: Yeah, I mean I was that Caddey B: Yeah, because HIMP Co: same kid, Caddey B: I can just HIMP Co: dude. Go ahead. Caddey B: 'cause I could hit a rubber band like, hey, I need I need to can I come over, can I come c come record some stuff? Can I get can I go through the records? Can I just can I get new music? Da da da DJ Rubbaban: Tell that DJ quick story. Tell that DJ quick story. Tell that DJ quick story. Caddey B: And he'd be like, all right, all right. Yeah, so like there was one time you had me come to the studio. I DJ Rubbaban: Right, right. Caddey B: went up to KZFR and he was like, All right, all right, I'ma I'm gonna call DJ quick. And I'm like, What? So he calls him, they do their little interview. I'm sitting there just like shell shocked. And then that next day, I go to his house to Do some record stuff to get some records. And he's like, hold on, hold on, hold on. I gotta, I gotta move, I gotta move the dishwasher. Or I gotta move, I gotta move the washing machine. I gotta hook it. I gotta hook it up to the kitchen sink. I'm like, DJ Rubbaban: Keep it together. Caddey B: you was just you was just talking to DJ Quick, DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. Caddey B: interviewing Quick, but you still moving your washing machine around in the kitchen sink. I'm like, this, I'm like, this nigga. DJ Rubbaban: But I'm still in a trap. I'm still in the trap. Yeah. HIMP Co: Gotta do it. That's the reality of it. That's the reality of it. DJ Rubbaban: And that's the reality of hip hop too is when you gonna get it, when you'll cause when your time comes, you gon' get it when you get it. You know what I'm saying? You gonna get it when you get it. And then you gotta be ready. Cause I've been in rooms HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: sometimes where they was like, Look, I'm ready to change your life. You ready to leave? You gotta leave that little town. You gotta leave. And HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: I'm like, and then I get a kid, I get a fresh kid. HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: And I'm raising it by myself. And I'm like And then he young and then he laughing at me, like, man, you're not gonna do it, you're gonna do it. I'm like, man, you know me. I mean my family over this. You know, and then it comes back around. It comes back around, him, you helping the kids right now. You you helping the kids. HIMP Co: That's what I'm saying though. That's what I'm saying though. That's the whole thing. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. HIMP Co: Well, I I learned too though, as as frustrating as it as it was to like be blocking blessings, sometimes in blessings wasn't really yours to begin with. And so it's like DJ Rubbaban: That part. HIMP Co: you'll be in that position and you like rushing to get to this position in this space, but universe know you ain't ready yet, and then it'll just put you right there and then it'll put something so to divert you slightly so you can have a little bit more time in the training field. And man, when you look back, you be like, Woo, dodge the bullet. Cause if I was not ready to be in that position where that was gonna take me, you know what I mean? You look at your if you look at it objectively, at your characteristics and everything. I mean personally, anyways. You know what I'm saying? Some of those times when I thought I was ready to get it, I'm like, man, if I would have got it, I would have been Kurt Cobain out this piece. You know what I mean? I just wasn't mentally and emotionally stable DJ Rubbaban: yeah. yeah. HIMP Co: to really just be dealing with any type of high level. DJ Rubbaban: yeah. Or even being in rooms with people when you you're with them at the beginning of their careers HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: and they blow. And it and back then it took maybe a month for whatever magazine to come out with your deal was. So you knew HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: when it was happening at at that time. HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: And I didn't see people get a deal. And because I was more on the business side of it too, HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: I would say, so you got a deal for eight hundred thousand. And then this much goes to production and all that and this and that. HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: And you got like six, seven people on your team that ain't never ate, and the label HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: is only giving you thirty-five thousand and your mama's still in the hood and your baby mama, and I know the whole deal, and they like, man, you gotta do shows, gotta do shows. Gotta do shows. Got you got a front. You got a front. HIMP Co: I do the shows. Hopefully that ain't in the deal. Hopefully that ain't in the deal. Cause now that's just in the deal. DJ Rubbaban: And then your bay and then your HIMP Co: Got a front. DJ Rubbaban: your chick on the side, you gotta give her something. You got you know, your baby all that dude. And then as black people, HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: we haven't really created generational wealth, generation, generation. So sometimes people don't get to tell you. Now people talk about LLCs and and all these other entities and putting your house on trust and you know, all these things. But HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. ETFs and your stocks, boy. Your Roth IRA, boy. Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: back in the days. They was getting caught with taxes cause they was just man, you know young people ain't paying taxes. If you get a million dollar check, come on. HIMP Co: Big old fact. You just don't know no better till you find out. And if you f DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. HIMP Co: I mean, I found out the hard way, man. I got a little s a little lump sum of legal money and you had no idea what I was doing, you know what I'm saying? Just was DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. HIMP Co: And then that's when you learn when it's all gone. budgeting. You know what I'm saying? And you and DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. HIMP Co: you just get you get repetitions. Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. HIMP Co: We just get them repetitions later in life if we if we DJ Rubbaban: Exact. HIMP Co: lucky anyways. You know what I mean? We get DJ Rubbaban: You up in paradise, ballin' out of control in paradise. HIMP Co: No, never that. Never that, man. But I didn't figure it, figure it out a little bit here and there. And that like you said, teaching the kids, man. That's where I'm at. I'm looking at these kids in their 20s and I'm like, bruh, this, this, this, XYZ, man. Put your money, put at least, you know what I mean, put a couple Netflix accounts worth of money in some ETFs type shit. You know what I mean? But they don't wanna hear it. They don't wanna hear it DJ Rubbaban: That part. That part right there. That part. HIMP Co: though. And it's crazy. I'm just seeing myself all over again. Like that's what the I can't be mad at it 'cause that's where I was too. You know what I mean? You just don't get it till DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, yeah. HIMP Co: you get it. But it it'll be back there when it's time for really to put it together, you know what I mean? DJ Rubbaban: yeah. HIMP Co: So DJ Rubbaban: And you know what? it could go quick. But you know Caddey B: Fifty grand can go real quick. Just HIMP Co: you went. DJ Rubbaban: what hemp? You know what hemp? When I talk to HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: people I deal with in the industry, especially like people I don't talk to a lot that I run into or on on Instagram or whatever, we really talk about experiences. We talk about funny shit that happened. We talk about, man, HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: remember, remember when we went in there and It was twelve Crips and we was all laughing and joking and we was waiting for them to bring our Pra Diem in. Pradeam is when you touring, they HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: give you money, right? They give you a little bit of money a whole bunch. And we was all waiting and remember and you s and you grabbed the envelope and remember you and so-and-so started fighting, and nobody knew you was a nobody knew you was a Pyru. And when you start fighting, you you kept saying Pyru, and we all just start laughing. I was like, I know, huh? I was like, yeah. Yeah. And so it's funny stuff like that. When you come from our culture, that's not a big thing. You know, us wrestling, you know, fighting a little HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: bit, not major fight, but just coming up, HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: you know what I mean, 'til we get to him stage where he just relaxing, talking about being out of space and, you know, organicness. HIMP Co: Bruh, I got tired Caddey B: Ha ha ha. HIMP Co: of getting them busted lips, boy. That was what happened to me. I'm like, man, even if I win my lip busted, bruh, this ain't it. And then DJ Rubbaban: Sí, sí. HIMP Co: and then they coming for you, and they coming for you. Ain't no winning. So I yeah, you figure out, DJ Rubbaban: They learn, yeah. That's what I'm saying. Caddey B: Mm-hmm. HIMP Co: I gotta figure out the steps way before any of that nonsense and keep myself at a distance from it, boy. And that's what you see now. You see a fella that had figured out how to keep all that way over there. Cause I'm too, I can't, I can't, I can't. DJ Rubbaban: Talk that him. Talk that him. Talk that right there. That's a clip right there, him. Right there. Talk that him. Talk that him. Caddey B: Uh-huh. We can't we ain't got HIMP Co: It's like Caddey B: time to sit on our hands no more. HIMP Co: Mm. Mm. It's like Nip said, man, get you a little money, you'll feel different, boy. And that's really what happened to the kid, man. He just got a little taste. And ever since then, man, DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. And a good girl, him, and a good girl. You know what I mean? A good girl or a good guy, child listeners. Subscribe. Make sure y'all subscribe. A good girl, look, a good Caddey B: Mm. HIMP Co: No, big old facts though. DJ Rubbaban: girl, a good dude, a good midget, a redhead, HIMP Co: Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: a brunette, whatever you feelin', good people should be with good people. HIMP Co: I got you know now that's where I'm at. So I feel like, you know what I mean, it too much gets placed on like this relationship situation where it's like we what we really need is this right here. You know what I mean? We need community. DJ Rubbaban: Mm-hmm. HIMP Co: You know what I mean? Talking to you, my brother, has been, you know, I mean, hella fucking just enriching, just getting that, man. I I DJ Rubbaban: Appreciate it. HIMP Co: ain't been to the I ain't been to the city in a while. I gotta go back like every few months and just give my cultural re-up. You know what I mean? And so I'm like low, but just sitting DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. Yeah. HIMP Co: here rapping with y'all, man, is giving me a little bit of that. Right now. So I appreciate it. But I think that's what's really more important than even having like, you know, chasing these relationships and trying to find that perfect one DJ Rubbaban: Mm-hmm. HIMP Co: person. You just gotta find those your people, you know what I mean? Be yourself and the people that DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. yeah. HIMP Co: that surround you as you do that, you know what I mean? You're all gonna be able to create that symbiotic relationship, man. And that's what that's DJ Rubbaban: yeah. yeah. HIMP Co: what we all really need. DJ Rubbaban: Now one more thing, I keep saying one more thing, but it's this is me. You know this big. This me. So HIMP Co: No, I'm here. We chill him. We chillin' yeah. DJ Rubbaban: one of the things that kinda helped me was I was raised by a village, pretty much, right? I was raised by my uncles and aunties. My mother was there, my daddy was there, but they wasn't there on the traditional wave. And so one of the things that I always did was seek out mentors. Always. Always sought out people. HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: Always I remember meeting this dude at this record label and he used to do the soundtracks for this particular label and I was like man I just want an intern. I just want to just be in a room which he's like for what for what you want you with that rap mess go there with that rap mess and HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: so he wound up being successful and he will pull me and things and he will go you know what what you just did that's A and R. Go go to the accountant and so I've always done that with different people. You know what I mean? When I HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: when I after I retired, I as I was making transitions and doing different things, because I've always sought people out, you know, and it wasn't even necessarily somebody older or younger. It was just the energy of the person. It was like, I wanna I wanna do some of what you do. How you how you stay like that? How you not tripping? Like, like You ain't even got a car. And you and you 45. You ain't even got no car. But your energy is like a millionaire. I need to I need to fuck with you. And so I've always HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: sought that out. You know what I'm Caddey B: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: saying? Probably got me in trouble back in the days with some women, but yeah. You know what I'm saying? It's that energy hemp. It's the energy hemp. Yeah. HIMP Co: No man, it shows. It shows, brother. Like yo, the way you present and that the the way you c articulate, it shows that you got that, you're that observer. You know what I mean? That's what that's what we artists, us artists, the artists DJ Rubbaban: yeah. Yeah. HIMP Co: that I appreciate the most are those observant artists that are able to just like pick up on patterns and then relay that back to the people, man. And that's you do that in ACES, my brother. DJ Rubbaban: yeah. yeah. Look, one more hand. One more. Look, one more. I keep saying one more. So I'm in the studio. I'm in a studio HIMP Co: Yeah, l let me get it let me get a couple one more. Let me get a few more and one more second. DJ Rubbaban: in sunset, right? I think I'm the shit shit, right? And so I'm at the studio and this is when I really realize everything is a pecking order. So you go to HIMP Co: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: a bigger room and a bigger room and the pecking order is they're gonna son you. So just, you know, fall back, fall back. HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: So I'm in this room and it's a major artist. And my boy had already told me, rubber, don't be in there. Don't be da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da. I was like, man, I got this thing. I'm me. I'm me. I'm me. I'm me. So I get in the room and everybody Caddey B: That's yeah. DJ Rubbaban: is doing, not we, but everything else. And it's a major, HIMP Co: Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: major artist. And everybody in there is doing drugs. And he passes out the bags. He just, just everything is in there. HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: So I just keep passing the the bag, right? Himp, I keep passing the bag, right? I keep passing whatever. So the artist come up to me and he's like, you you c you can't I was like, and him, I don't know where this came from 'cause I'm not this. I go, man, I'm in recovery. Man, I'm in recovery. If If I do some of that shit right there, I'm gonna tear this whole motherfucking thing up. And him, I said, Caddey B: Yeah, HIMP Co: We're thinking that's quick. DJ Rubbaban: on paru, on paru, I'm gonna tear up this whole motherfucking thing. I just wanna vibe with you. I wanna get on something. I want to do a yell or a scream. Like, nigga, you the man. He looked at me. He looked at me and goes, Little nigga, you all right. And I just sat there here, I just sat there. I just remember, I just wanted to be in the room. Caddey B: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: And it was the first time I seen in the music industry like you do sometimes you you gotta sell your soul. You got and I was quick that time. You gotta qu you I was HIMP Co: yeah. That was quick, boy. DJ Rubbaban: quick that time, him, but you know what I'm saying? And it's like HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: and I know me, I'm not a big drug person, you know what I mean? I'm I'm not HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: a big especially other stuff, right? But they was doing and then I learned later on when you in these studios, you up all night. You in there HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: They cater. Everything is catered. Everything, what you want. HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: You ain't it's beds in there sometimes. It's room with it's everything HIMP Co: yeah. DJ Rubbaban: in there. Niggas bringing dogs into the studio. It's everything. And so you kind of go. And then after I said that to him, it kind of carried with me in the industry like, man, that nigga right there, man. He man, he da da da da. I was like, okay. HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. And then eventually I wound up being a drug and alcohol counselor. As a part of what I do too. So HIMP Co: shit. DJ Rubbaban: you know what I mean? So who knows that little lie turned into something, something good. You know what I'm saying? HIMP Co: No, they they always do, man. Caddey B: That fits, they thought you was a smoker. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, he probably thought I was a smoker. I was just I was thinking alcohol. That Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: tells you how much I know about drugs at the time. Like he probably thought I was a smoker, HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. Caddey B: Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: but really I was trying to say I was a, you know, from alcohol, but he was like, Man, I ain't taking no none of that mess with y'all, man. I'd be over in the corner like Pookie from New Jack. Uh-uh. No, not me. HIMP Co: Man, that's a lot of things right there though. Caddey B: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: So ladies and gentlemen, just say no. Building 341. Like, subscribe. Just say no. That's the moral of that story HIMP Co: Or that. Or that. DJ Rubbaban: is sometimes when you in rooms, you still gotta be you, hemp. HIMP Co: Big old facts. Got to every time, DJ Rubbaban: You gotta be HIMP Co: every Caddey B: yeah. HIMP Co: time. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. Caddey B: Yeah, yeah. DJ Rubbaban: I know they used to pressure you back in the LA days. You ain't gotta tell us you'll tell us next time. HIMP Co: They never they I ain't never got pressed in the LA dance. I was putting that there was some there was some violence and shit, but I never really got like ran up on like where DJ Rubbaban: Right. HIMP Co: you from? Where you from type in in s situations. It was all just well that we know where you from. We know where you from and it's DJ Rubbaban: Right, right. HIMP Co: and it's either good or it's bad. And so there was a little bit of that nonsense. DJ Rubbaban: you always had that you always had that kind of energy you got, that that chill laid back. HIMP Co: Nah, nah, nah, nah. when like like Caddy said, man, when I came to Chico, man, I was I was on one a little bit just of like cause I had that, I had the the culture with me. So I'm bringing the culture and all these kids is like, this nigga's ice cube or whatever, you know what I'm saying? I'm like, yeah, y'all right, nigga, I am ice cube, nigga. Let me show you how to do this. And so I was on DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. Caddey B: Yeah. HIMP Co: that for a minute for sure and sh just wasting time. DJ Rubbaban: And then some of your crew, you know, tree and all of them, you know, they wasn't soft coated either. HIMP Co: That part. So I I went seeking out that. That's that's how I ended up in that in that company. You know what I'm saying? That's where I'm looking for. Everybody's like, this guy, these guys. I'm like, yeah, let me go, let me go see what that's about. And yeah, me and him became real, real close there for a bit. Me and me and Tree was like brothers there. Big time, man. So proud of my brother. So proud of my brother. DJ Rubbaban: And look at Tree, he's doing well. He's doing well. He's chill too. Yeah. Shout out, Tree. Yeah. Caddey B: yeah, yeah. We're gonna HIMP Co: Man was Caddey B: lock him down HIMP Co: here. Caddey B: one time too, but he's always too busy. HIMP Co: That boy on the move. That boy on the move. DJ Rubbaban: Look, we gonna lock tree down and we're gonna have you on standby and we just go you just gonna come on the show and you gonna be like, What's HIMP Co: Pull up. Yeah, for surely. DJ Rubbaban: up, folks? HIMP Co: What it do, my guy? Yes, sir. I'm here for it. Let's get it. Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah. Yeah. Well man, I appreciate you being on the show. We ain't gonna keep you too much longer. HIMP Co: Hey man, it's my pleasure, brother. Yeah, man. I'm here for anything y'all got. Y'all got any last ones? Go ahead. Caddey B: So one of so one of one of rubber band's always questions is and he ain't gonna do it this time, but I'll do it for him. So who's who's who's Himp C celebrity crush? HIMP Co: right now, what is it hitting for? DJ Rubbaban: Okay, we wanna hear this. HIMP Co: Let me let me sit with it for a second. Hold up. Mmm. Y'all gonna get me in trouble. DJ Rubbaban: No, this is just HIMP Co: let's say Dude, Megan good, Megan good. I'm gonna go with that for now. DJ Rubbaban: That will save him. That was too save him. That will save him. That will save him. I don't need no you've been smooth this whole time, hemp. Himp, you've been smooth HIMP Co: That's the top right now. That's the top. DJ Rubbaban: this whole time. HIMP Co: you want me to get sloppy? I'll get I can get sloppy. Who's the one? I can get super sloppy. what's her fa what's her name? The one everybody was mad at. DJ Rubbaban: Wouldn't that make it good? HIMP Co: No no no no. Caddey B: you think it you you think it what, Stacy Dash? HIMP Co: No, that's a inner Caddey B: Ha ha ha. HIMP Co: though. I wasn't, but you got me out of the house, man. That's safer than what I was thinking. I'm gonna be I'm gonna go I'm gonna go with Take That Lifeline from Caddy B. Nah, you know what it? I'm gonna go off the rails. Sidney Sweeney. Y'all know who that is? Y'all gotta Google that. Exactly, that's why. Caddey B: That's every white girl around Chico. DJ Rubbaban: Look, him bringing up our stock. Look, him gonna bring up our numbers right there. Sydney Sweeney. HIMP Co: Y'all told me to be sloppy. Y'all told me to y'all told me to y'all told me y'all was looking for it. Y'all was looking for it. I got you. I got the one. That's the one that's gonna that's what yeah, look that up. we're just gonna like he said, Caddey B: she a she a dime a dozen out here. She a dime a dozen out here. DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, Sydney Sweeney. I'm gonna have to look that one up. How's she look though? Is she b is she cool? Now tell me why you like her. HIMP Co: I was just doing I was doing a rating boost right there. Cause she gon' she gonna get your numbers up because they super mad at her for having some kind of commercial or whatever about her blue jeans and whatnot. But yeah, DJ Rubbaban: Okay. HIMP Co: no, she's not. Caddey B: about women in sports or something. HIMP Co: Something like that. One of them controversial. But yeah, no, that's not really that's not DJ Rubbaban: I think I know who y'all talking about now. Okay. Caddey B: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. HIMP Co: really my crust. Like I said, but right now it's it's on some I'm on some Megan Good for real. She is probably the baddest in the game right now, if you ask me. DJ Rubbaban: So Megan Good? HIMP Co: You know who that is? DJ Rubbaban: Yeah no Megan Good is. Cousin Skeeter. Yeah, she go way back. HIMP Co: I'm just saying the one DJ Rubbaban: She go you Caddey B: Yeah. DJ Rubbaban: I'm old school, him. HIMP Co: disrespect. Disrespect. man. It's the whole thing with Caddey B: Cause HIMP Co: what's his face that was in Marvel, man. that's what I'm saying, man. That's what gave DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, she member she married him and that kinda that kinda brought her stock down a little bit. HIMP Co: that you brought it up for me though. I thought that was standby DJ Rubbaban: See? HIMP Co: for me for sure, though. I'm like, man, everybody going against old boy, and you're gonna stand Caddey B: Yeah, that was some that was some that was some standby. HIMP Co: by him. Now she DJ Rubbaban: Okay. HIMP Co: was solid. She's so Caddey B: Yeah. HIMP Co: solid for that, bro. I thought that was dope as hell. But you're not wrong as far as the public perception of it and whatnot. But I look DJ Rubbaban: yeah. HIMP Co: at I'm often on the other side of that. Caddey B: Yeah. Yeah. She's solid just like, you know, tiny with tip. DJ Rubbaban: There, you know what? That's my right there. No, look, so look, so HIMP Co: No, yeah. Is that your is that yours? Is that yours, my boy? damn. DJ Rubbaban: my look, I won't say, listen. Okay, hemp. Give me this, hemp. Let me say it. I gotta set it up. I gotta set it up. So I gotta HIMP Co: I'm listening, I'm listening, I'm listening. I'm listening. DJ Rubbaban: set it up. So I met Tiny a couple times with Escape. I I I I ain't never dated her, but I just been in her presence, right? She real good people. She got good energy. HIMP Co: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. DJ Rubbaban: She stuck by tip. HIMP Co: Big Facts. DJ Rubbaban: she's She's a she has a very unusual look, but her energy is nothing like that when you meet her. And so I always used to say, I always used to say, remember when Biggie said about escape, right? I was like, nigga, I'm taking tiny boy. Tiny boy, tiny boy. I'm gonna take her ass and we're gonna have pretty kids, boy. We're gonna have some pretty kids. So Caddy always sweat me, but I'm I'm pulling I'm pulling I ain't taking tip girl but I'm pulling Tiny to the table. I'm pulling Tiny to the table. HIMP Co: I heard that. yeah, I'm gonna let you have that one because yeah, she said DJ Rubbaban: You gonna let me have that with him? HIMP Co: you said she got a unique, Caddey B: Ha ha ha. HIMP Co: you she got a unique look. That was I'm gonna have to keep that one. I'm gonna have to use that one. Me neither. Me neither, DJ Rubbaban: No, no, no. I ain't trying to look, I don't know the right word yet, Himp. Himp, I don't know the right word right now. HIMP Co: brother. Me neither, brother. I think you hit it. I think you hit it. No, you right. You right. I'm gonna take your word for it. DJ Rubbaban: You wrong for that, hemp. Remp, you wrong for that. She bad hemp. She bad hemp. Tiny, hit your boy up in the comments. HIMP Co: Nah, yeah, hit my man's. Let him have mines. He can have mine too. DJ Rubbaban: So I can have Megan Good and Tiny. HIMP Co: No no no no no. You can have the tiny my portion of tiny. Caddey B: just HIMP Co: If there was any to be had, DJ Rubbaban: I HIMP Co: you I'm gonna go ahead and put that back on the plate for you. You can you can have a double portion. 'Cause DJ Rubbaban: Yeah, yeah, tiny, Caddey B: Mm. DJ Rubbaban: it's all love, baby. It's all love, baby. You gonna sing Escape? HIMP Co: She do seem like a standby. Caddey B: It's all love. I just had to I I just had to get both y'all at the same time. That was g I knew that was gonna be HIMP Co: She seemed like a standby. Bruh.
