- 0:02Speaker 1: What a Monday, What a day for Eric Kratz. Right, yeah,
- 0:07Speaker 1: happy birthday, Eric Kratz. You state champ.
- 0:11Speaker 2: You appreciate you appreciate your shout out on Friday. Appreciate
- 0:17Speaker 2: the birthday wishes from everybody. It's my little nieces. It's
- 0:21Speaker 2: my little nieces, Mackenzie. It's her birthday today too, so
- 0:24Speaker 2: we're birthday twins. She is definitely eye rolling if she
- 0:29Speaker 2: heard this, or when she hears this, she'll go, I'm
- 0:34Speaker 2: fine with it.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Well she gets a shout out, and so do you
- 0:39Speaker 1: for winning. You're a champ. Ethan had an awesome game too.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Kratz has son saw the killed it. Ethink killed it.
- 0:47Speaker 3: We got a little oh yeah, we got the video
- 0:49Speaker 3: here and everything.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you can show a little nugget of this on Friday.
- 0:53Speaker 1: There's last out. I love last outs in general. Who
- 0:56Speaker 1: titles are one. You've been a part of a pretty
- 0:59Speaker 1: big one.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yeah. I mean listen to your kid when
- 1:04Speaker 3: state championships, it's awesome because it's a moment they'll never forget.
- 1:08Speaker 3: My son was fortunate he got to win two in
- 1:10Speaker 3: his high school career, and it's the best feeling in
- 1:13Speaker 3: the world, especially as a parent. If you're a part
- 1:15Speaker 3: of the team and crowds being the coach, it's congratulations.
- 1:18Speaker 3: It's pretty awesome.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Thank you. Yeah, you know what. I watched the game
- 1:23Speaker 2: back yesterday, watched it with my family. One of the
- 1:26Speaker 2: cooler things that you don't see as a coach because
- 1:28Speaker 2: you're like locked in, is right at the end, they
- 1:32Speaker 2: panned a shot. The game was telecast on I think
- 1:36Speaker 2: it's called PCN or something, but they panned a shot
- 1:39Speaker 2: to the parents in the stands, and you know, the
- 1:41Speaker 2: parents are always like supporting and following and everything.
- 1:45Speaker 3: And the parents are like, oh, they're like bawling. Other
- 1:47Speaker 3: parents have their like hands on their head, like I
- 1:50Speaker 3: can't believe this. This is unbelievable. The boys are bouncing around.
- 1:54Speaker 3: So it's cool.
- 1:54Speaker 2: We get our we got our sick trophy, we got
- 1:57Speaker 2: our battle here. It's hard to see with the yeah,
- 2:00Speaker 2: like it's legit. It's way better than the way better
- 2:03Speaker 2: than the district one that you get. This a little, tiny,
- 2:05Speaker 2: little district one. This one's very nice. We played a
- 2:09Speaker 2: good team and Eden Christian who had actually been there
- 2:12Speaker 2: three straight years.
- 2:13Speaker 3: They were in the.
- 2:14Speaker 2: State semi finals and they lost all three years. I
- 2:17Speaker 2: mean like that's still just it. Obviously, I'm just about
- 2:21Speaker 2: our team winning. But knowing that that's on the other side,
- 2:25Speaker 2: that is that is tough.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Who is that in pro sports? Like the Buffalo Bills? Bills, right,
- 2:33Speaker 1: is there a baseball erson of that.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Braves for years for that team? That's the one the
- 2:42Speaker 3: Braves are all those years the Bills. Yeah, that's really
- 2:47Speaker 3: in the last fifty forty years. Probably.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah, the Braves.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Baseball for sure, with all their talent, they only winning
- 2:53Speaker 3: the one they always They had all those guys too there,
- 2:58Speaker 3: I mean, they were there forever.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I mean, you know, it makes That's what I think of.
- 3:03Speaker 2: You know, when I think of playing that team in
- 3:05Speaker 2: high school, I'm like a lot of these kids have
- 3:07Speaker 2: been there for three straight that they had a few seniors. Ironically,
- 3:11Speaker 2: their best hitter, like by far was the guy who
- 3:14Speaker 2: made the last out in the game. Like you think
- 3:16Speaker 2: about that because I remember losing games. I remember losing
- 3:19Speaker 2: to the Dodgers, to the Astros, to the Cardinals, like
- 3:22Speaker 2: in the playoffs, all that's up to the Giants in
- 3:24Speaker 2: the World Series Game seven, Like you remember that as
- 3:28Speaker 2: much as the kids on our team, the three seniors
- 3:30Speaker 2: on our team will remember winning, and everybody else will
- 3:34Speaker 2: remember winning as there's always another side to it too.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yep, that's right. You make it that far. The Blue
- 3:41Speaker 1: Jays last year and oh gosh, how many moments did
- 3:45Speaker 1: you feel like one thing changes the Blue Jays win?
- 3:48Speaker 3: Oh, it was the whole. They were this far away
- 3:51Speaker 3: from winning. They were literally this far away.
- 3:53Speaker 1: From so many close moments.
- 3:55Speaker 3: I mean I remember, I mean, you know what crowd
- 3:58Speaker 3: is talking about the first the first title that my
- 4:00Speaker 3: son was able to win. When it's twenty twenty one,
- 4:03Speaker 3: you know, the star player wasn't that team? Oh and
- 4:08Speaker 3: I'm seeing how crushed they were. The team, the team
- 4:11Speaker 3: they played, the team they played was they had Sal
- 4:14Speaker 3: Stewart was their big their big star. So when I
- 4:17Speaker 3: see stalat Sally, rub it in a little bit.
- 4:18Speaker 1: But you did on a combat, didn't we have them on?
- 4:21Speaker 3: He said? He goes, you know what my payback is,
- 4:22Speaker 3: I'm in the big league. True, that's a good that's fair.
- 4:27Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean then the last one they won
- 4:30Speaker 3: last year, they had their team was pretty loaded. But
- 4:33Speaker 3: you know, listen, it's awesome. It's awesome for your kid, Crats.
- 4:36Speaker 3: That's the ultimate goal. Everyone thinks in high school. That
- 4:39Speaker 3: is the end all bell. Everyone remembers their high school,
- 4:41Speaker 3: but you know, and especially to win a state championship,
- 4:43Speaker 3: it's something can never take away. It's always always come
- 4:46Speaker 3: back to your hometown and say, hey, you know, we
- 4:48Speaker 3: got this special moment together.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Always yeah, I mean we talked about it all year.
- 4:51Speaker 2: It's going to hang up in the banners. They're always
- 4:53Speaker 2: going to see their school year. There the article in
- 4:57Speaker 2: the paper and Ethan went to, my son either went
- 5:00Speaker 2: two for three with a danger and a triple like
- 5:03Speaker 2: crunched it, and but he was for the playoffs. He
- 5:07Speaker 2: was seventeen for twenty one, so like you got some
- 5:10Speaker 2: guys that were we had a freshman. We had a
- 5:12Speaker 2: freshman who was fourteen for twenty two.
- 5:18Speaker 3: So we had dudes that stepped up. One of our starters.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Our starting pitchers started three of the four games in
- 5:23Speaker 2: the state run like incredible, incredible, incredible.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yeah, you needed to all come together. You need your
- 5:29Speaker 1: best moments when you're facing that kind of competition. So
- 5:32Speaker 1: very cool. Fun Friday for Krats. It's a birthday Monday
- 5:35Speaker 1: for Cratz. Let's charge charge about this was actually back
- 5:46Speaker 1: to back years. Yamamoto took a no hitter into the
- 5:49Speaker 1: ninth inning. And for those of you that are like
- 5:50Speaker 1: you better talk about them, mis We're gonna talk about
- 5:52Speaker 1: them is a little bit here, but we're also going
- 5:53Speaker 1: to talk about him in a whole separate segment that
- 5:56Speaker 1: we have dedicated to him. But Yamamoto was Saturday, a
- 5:58Speaker 1: little more recent eight and a third, one hit, won
- 6:01Speaker 1: and run seven punch outs. You know his opponent very
- 6:05Speaker 1: well since they won the series, the Dodgers.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Uh listen. I was at the game yesterday, the Dodgers
- 6:12Speaker 3: White Sox game. I stopped by. I was in Chicago yesterday,
- 6:14Speaker 3: so I stopped by for a little bit and that
- 6:16Speaker 3: place was electric, man, I mean it was. It was crazy,
- 6:20Speaker 3: loud packed. You know, you can say it was a
- 6:23Speaker 3: lot of Dodger fans, which it was, but there was
- 6:25Speaker 3: also a lot of White Sox fans there. And I
- 6:27Speaker 3: got to talk to Steven Nelson and Eric Carros during
- 6:31Speaker 3: the broadcast and they were like, Wow, this place is great, man,
- 6:33Speaker 3: I mean this is this is a great atmosphere and
- 6:35Speaker 3: these guys are legit. And on on Saturday, obviously, Yamamoto
- 6:40Speaker 3: had the perfect game. MOOKI made the air and then
- 6:42Speaker 3: he gave up the home run to Peters. But I
- 6:44Speaker 3: had a lot of White Sox fans saying, you know,
- 6:46Speaker 3: if we're gonna lose, why not give up a perfect
- 6:48Speaker 3: gam or no hitter. And I was like, you never
- 6:50Speaker 3: want to say that, but you know what I mean,
- 6:53Speaker 3: at least see if you're gonna lose, see history. But
- 6:54Speaker 3: they won the series. Yamamoto was awesome in a game
- 6:57Speaker 3: the Dodgers. You know, whatever I think, say it's the
- 7:01Speaker 3: White Sox. But the White Sox won two out of
- 7:02Speaker 3: three against you, against Szaki and she and I know
- 7:05Speaker 3: it's not snow and glass now, but still and their
- 7:07Speaker 3: bats didn't do a whole lot except for the one game.
- 7:10Speaker 3: So listen to what the White Sox and listen almosh awesome.
- 7:14Speaker 3: So I took my cat to Yamamoto show. Hey, hit
- 7:17Speaker 3: the homer some home runs in this series, but he
- 7:21Speaker 3: didn't get it done. You know, the one thing I
- 7:23Speaker 3: found weird about this whole thing was Peter hit the
- 7:26Speaker 3: home run because it felt like we won. Dude, he
- 7:27Speaker 3: lost almost I get it, but like that that was
- 7:31Speaker 3: a bad quest. Yeah, moral victory. There are no moral
- 7:34Speaker 3: victories in the Major League.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Sorry, no, Yeah, quick on Yamamoto. I mean, I know
- 7:40Speaker 1: he's being overshadowed by some other dudes in the National League.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Right now, he's got a two five two ERA. This
- 7:45Speaker 1: is probably the best he's been. He's coming off the
- 7:49Speaker 1: potential hangover effect you could have after not just you know,
- 7:53Speaker 1: back to back World Series appearances being the guy for
- 7:56Speaker 1: the Dodgers. But this past one they abused him. He
- 7:59Speaker 1: volunteered to be abused.
- 8:00Speaker 3: But maybe if you throw more Scott you can actually
- 8:03Speaker 3: get better.
- 8:04Speaker 1: No way, that's wild. The guy who throws basically more
- 8:08Speaker 1: than anyone else is still thriving. And it's not like
- 8:10Speaker 1: he's this hulking presence either. It's a small dude. He's
- 8:13Speaker 1: got eighty five and two thirds innings. He is number
- 8:16Speaker 1: two in baseball in whip walks and hits brainnings pitch,
- 8:19Speaker 1: which is pretty good stat eight four only he's good better.
- 8:23Speaker 3: But the problem is the National League has about five
- 8:25Speaker 3: other pitchers that are just as good, if not better.
- 8:27Speaker 3: So it's like he's kind of getting lost in the shuffle.
- 8:29Speaker 3: So I'm glad we're talking about him. But when you have,
- 8:31Speaker 3: you know, miz who will talking about but scheme sale,
- 8:34Speaker 3: there's a lot of other guys that you're like, well,
- 8:36Speaker 3: and then you forget the Yamamoto's right there, so it's
- 8:38Speaker 3: it's good for him. Man, he's been awesome.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Yeah, Sanchez, Burns, all those guys have better eras than him, Krats.
- 8:44Speaker 2: He's not even the best Japanese pitcher on his team,
- 8:48Speaker 2: like show hayes, show Hay's overshadowing him. Like, I just
- 8:51Speaker 2: feel like what Yamamoto did last year, obviously in the
- 8:54Speaker 2: World Series, it was incredible, and then to come back
- 8:57Speaker 2: and have what he's had so far this year a
- 9:00Speaker 2: little bit under his career norm with his era, he's
- 9:04Speaker 2: continually improving.
- 9:05Speaker 3: But he's out there.
- 9:06Speaker 2: He's the most resilient or most reliable pitcher to take
- 9:12Speaker 2: the ball every six days in that rotation. Like for
- 9:16Speaker 2: the fact that what he did last year, you would think, ah,
- 9:18Speaker 2: you know, we're gonna back it down. We'll get you
- 9:20Speaker 2: our Dodgers twenty five starts so that you're available for
- 9:25Speaker 2: six starts in the playoffs.
- 9:26Speaker 3: But he's out there, he's doing it.
- 9:29Speaker 2: He's another guy that you're like, I I gotta look
- 9:32Speaker 2: when he's playing like he I think he may have.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I think it'll be a race to see who gets
- 9:38Speaker 2: a no hitter first, Schemes or Yamamoto. I feel like
- 9:42Speaker 2: Yamamoto he goes the distance. I feel like Schemes hasn't
- 9:46Speaker 2: been necessarily going to distance. But I feel like because
- 9:50Speaker 2: he's giving up some runs, maybe there will be a
- 9:52Speaker 2: time here this year where he's gonna go distance. I
- 9:54Speaker 2: think one of them is gonna get a no hitter
- 9:55Speaker 2: this year.
- 9:58Speaker 1: What about the Maze he was almost No.
- 10:02Speaker 2: We're not talking about him yet. We have another segment
- 10:04Speaker 2: for that Scottish.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I know, but we can mix it in. I mean,
- 10:07Speaker 1: no hitters in.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Perfect Game is the most random thing ever because you
- 10:10Speaker 3: look at like a Greg Maddox, John Small, Tom Glove
- 10:12Speaker 3: and they never threw a no hitter. They never even
- 10:15Speaker 3: I don't even know if they came close. Did Page
- 10:17Speaker 3: Pager never threw no hitter? Did he did? Piger Martinez?
- 10:20Speaker 3: I know he got he had the one where uh,
- 10:23Speaker 3: I think Carl Ever or no, that was Mike You
- 10:25Speaker 3: seeno Carl Ever broke up?
- 10:27Speaker 1: No.
- 10:28Speaker 3: I mean, think about the list of Hall of famers
- 10:30Speaker 3: that never threw no hitters. No hitters are the most random,
- 10:32Speaker 3: crazy thing ever.
- 10:34Speaker 2: But I special I think that'll change because of how
- 10:38Speaker 2: guys pitch now, And maybe you don't agree with me,
- 10:41Speaker 2: but I felt like before guys would pitch, Hey, you
- 10:43Speaker 2: know what, I got a two three run lead, I'm
- 10:46Speaker 2: going right at this guy.
- 10:47Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 10:48Speaker 2: I'm getting through the entire game. And I feel like
- 10:50Speaker 2: there's guys that are what did the miss throw like
- 10:53Speaker 2: one hundred and four and a ninth inning? One hundred
- 10:55Speaker 2: and three and a ninth inning? Like there is there
- 11:00Speaker 2: is less of a hey, I gotta get through nine
- 11:02Speaker 2: and more of a I'm not letting anybody touch any
- 11:05Speaker 2: of my stuff the entire game. Don't touch my drum
- 11:08Speaker 2: set the entire game. And that's why I feel like, yes,
- 11:11Speaker 2: it is still random. Yes, somebody has to make a
- 11:13Speaker 2: great play, but when you have an alley like the Miz,
- 11:16Speaker 2: it wasn't even close.
- 11:18Speaker 3: They weren't even close to touching him.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Fifteen strikeouts in a maddox in a complete game, that's
- 11:23Speaker 2: just like one through three strikes you're out.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Yeah, But here's the thing with that said, guys don't
- 11:29Speaker 3: go nine innings anymore. So it's hard for guys to
- 11:31Speaker 3: get perfect games and no hitters because nobody goes nine
- 11:33Speaker 3: innings anymore. Everyone's out there here's my best stuff for
- 11:36Speaker 3: five innings, and then we'll we'll have to combine no
- 11:39Speaker 3: hitter like we had with the Astros.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I feel like it was worse like five years ago.
- 11:42Speaker 1: It's gotten a little bit better just with the aces
- 11:45Speaker 1: getting some but it has.
- 11:46Speaker 3: To be aces only because anybody that's on an ace
- 11:48Speaker 3: doesn't get the opportunity. No, yes, I mean remember Edward
- 11:51Speaker 3: Jackson hitter and he threw like one hundred and forty
- 11:54Speaker 3: pitches against the Rays and he had like ten walks
- 11:56Speaker 3: in that game.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, see, I think if it's I don't know,
- 12:00Speaker 1: name a veteran pitcher who's who's been around a while
- 12:03Speaker 1: and might be you know, towards the end. Name Miles
- 12:07Speaker 1: Micheliss I know he. I thought he was the opener
- 12:09Speaker 1: the other day. If if he's pitching and he's at
- 12:11Speaker 1: one fifteen heading into the ninth, oh, they're letting him.
- 12:14Speaker 1: He's going it's a problem.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Is excuse me, no offense to Miles.
- 12:19Speaker 1: He pitched twelve yesterday, but he didn't he was he
- 12:22Speaker 1: used an opener. I know, I know. So, So your
- 12:24Speaker 1: point is you have to be an ace that they
- 12:26Speaker 1: trust that you can get through lineup a third time through.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Right, there's like five of those right now that guys.
- 12:32Speaker 3: People will let school don't have.
- 12:34Speaker 1: No hitter, and then you have to be economical with so,
- 12:37Speaker 1: like krat said, if you're more strikeout reliant, you have
- 12:40Speaker 1: to be economical with that's everybody.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Jeez, let's everybody now excuse me, wow.
- 12:44Speaker 1: But miz is economical with his kids.
- 12:46Speaker 3: The other day.
- 12:47Speaker 1: He's getting it right because.
- 12:48Speaker 3: It's like starting to figure it out.
- 12:49Speaker 1: You don't need to dance. They can't touch you most
- 12:52Speaker 1: of the time. You tip your cap if they touch you.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Right now, I mean, he completely owned the Phillies the
- 12:57Speaker 1: other night. Fifteen strikeouts, one hit, He was almost there.
- 13:00Speaker 1: One hit. He allowed one hit in that game. Otherwise
- 13:03Speaker 1: that would have been a no no that we talk
- 13:04Speaker 1: about hard to get a no no. And Kivan booted
- 13:09Speaker 1: the ball for Yamamoto the other day. That would have
- 13:11Speaker 1: been the third out in the eighth, right, yep, different.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Ninth, Yeah, and then he gives up the homer.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Hm. It takes a lot. It takes a village to
- 13:20Speaker 1: put together a no hitter, a perfect game. Hey, Seakeek's
- 13:25Speaker 1: hooking you up with ten percent off tickets with that
- 13:27Speaker 1: code territory one zero. This is a few minutes to
- 13:29Speaker 1: look at some games coming up this week and some
- 13:31Speaker 1: series two. You know what's a good one for me?
- 13:34Speaker 1: Kratz in your backyard. I know Wheeler starts off the
- 13:37Speaker 1: series for the Phillies against the Marlins. The Marlins are
- 13:39Speaker 1: ten and two in June, like they are peaking right now,
- 13:43Speaker 1: So that's a good one to hit up a ticket for.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, anytime you get to see Wheeler back
- 13:48Speaker 2: the way he's doing it right now. He's kind of,
- 13:51Speaker 2: I don't want to say, the unsung hero, but Christopher Sanchez,
- 13:54Speaker 2: besides his last at against the Brewers, has really just
- 13:57Speaker 2: taken all the all the limelight. Like Wheelers' already coming
- 14:00Speaker 2: back from thoracic outlet blood clots and to have the
- 14:03Speaker 2: season that he's had, you got to get down there
- 14:05Speaker 2: to see him pitch right now.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Another one if you're in LA and I know obviously
- 14:10Speaker 1: tickets are always sold out to the brim, so you
- 14:12Speaker 1: go to seat Geek to find your seat to use
- 14:15Speaker 1: the green and the red dots there. Green is good
- 14:17Speaker 1: right as bad. They show you the good deals and
- 14:19Speaker 1: the good seats. Nick Martinez has been quietly one of
- 14:22Speaker 1: the best pitchers in baseball this year. I know it's
- 14:24Speaker 1: one of the lowest strikeout rates that expected dra is
- 14:27Speaker 1: not high. There could be some regression, but he doesn't
- 14:30Speaker 1: walk anybody. He gives up soft contact. This is more
- 14:33Speaker 1: of your old school style. He's got a two four
- 14:34Speaker 1: to three mark for a Raised team that's coming in
- 14:37Speaker 1: with the same number of losses now four less wins.
- 14:40Speaker 1: But you always tell me, look a lost column forty
- 14:41Speaker 1: one and twenty seven. The Raiser almost as good as
- 14:44Speaker 1: the Dodgers record wise this year.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Yeah, they are. But the game I'm looking at is
- 14:47Speaker 3: Padres Cardinals because that could be a potential playoff make
- 14:49Speaker 3: or break series between the Padres and the Cardinals. Cardinals
- 14:53Speaker 3: at home, Padres have been wishy washy, I guess would
- 14:57Speaker 3: be a nice way to say it, especially offensively. But
- 15:01Speaker 3: that's a series to me that could be a playoff
- 15:03Speaker 3: make or break for one of those teams.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Those are wild card hopefuls, yes, and the head to
- 15:07Speaker 1: head matters. Cardinals have been a much better offensive team
- 15:10Speaker 1: than that Padres had.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Well, that's not saying much. No Crotch's high school team.
- 15:13Speaker 3: It could At this point. Sometimes I feel like might
- 15:16Speaker 3: be able to hang with the.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Padres on some days because they have I can't believe
- 15:20Speaker 2: the Padres. I can't believe them. I really can't. Like
- 15:23Speaker 2: you watch a game and you're like, who Gavin Sheets
- 15:25Speaker 2: is up? Yeah, now we're gonna get some met like
- 15:27Speaker 2: Gavin Sheets. We're getting action from Gavin Sheets when you
- 15:29Speaker 2: have many Tatis, Xander Boguards, Jackson Merrill like it's a
- 15:35Speaker 2: it's the Gavin Sheets of Ramon Lariano show.
- 15:38Speaker 3: I just can't. I can't believe it.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Well, now, no more Lariano. He's done for the year,
- 15:42Speaker 1: right right?
- 15:43Speaker 3: Yeah? So hey, Tatis said too, he's got two.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Yeah right. He hit the first one a couple of
- 15:49Speaker 1: weeks ago, and then he had to walk off wall
- 15:50Speaker 1: Scraper the about a week ago. Hey, uh, the code
- 15:54Speaker 1: for you one more time for Sea Geek. We're talking
- 15:56Speaker 1: about all these games and series. You can go to
- 15:58Speaker 1: games if you go to see ten percent off for
- 16:00Speaker 1: your next set of tickets with that promo code Territory
- 16:03Speaker 1: one zero. Click the link in the description of the
- 16:06Speaker 1: episode that you're watching or listening to download the app
- 16:08Speaker 1: and have the code automatically added to your account so
- 16:10Speaker 1: you can use it later. One other notable from the weekend.
- 16:14Speaker 1: And while we're talking about pitching, you mentioned Schoogle.
- 16:17Speaker 3: They lost that game, I know, but they lost back here.
- 16:20Speaker 3: So here's the thing though, the Tigers went into this
- 16:22Speaker 3: series like, oh, we got to win that. They lost
- 16:24Speaker 3: both games. They got rained out on Sunday.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not good. They're so six out of a
- 16:28Speaker 1: wild card thirteen hunder five hundred.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't until they get to five hundred. I
- 16:32Speaker 3: don't care if school you can only pitch every fifth day, right,
- 16:35Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, great, he gave up two runs and
- 16:38Speaker 3: four two thirds. But you know what they did. They lost.
- 16:41Speaker 1: They lost because they can't hit correct. Cleveland actually took
- 16:45Speaker 1: a hit too well clean that series. No, but they
- 16:48Speaker 1: took a hit.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Jose Ramirez out for a month and a month to
- 16:52Speaker 1: a month and a half now with the left hamlet
- 16:55Speaker 1: bone fracture. As Ken Rosenthal said on Fair Territory, this
- 16:59Speaker 1: monk warning. This episode is brought to you by the
- 17:01Speaker 1: hamlet bone. Many too. We'll talk about I have a theory.
- 17:05Speaker 3: I have a theory I heard yesterday why they're happening more. Yes,
- 17:09Speaker 3: and I could be crazy, but someone tell me if
- 17:11Speaker 3: I'm wrong. On this. I heard this theory yesterday. I
- 17:13Speaker 3: forget who I talked about this at the White Sox
- 17:15Speaker 3: game with somebody. I forget who I was talking to
- 17:17Speaker 3: about it. Guys used to take batting practice, like regular
- 17:23Speaker 3: batting practice, you know, and you not every pitch was
- 17:25Speaker 3: thrown a million miles an hour. You just take your
- 17:27Speaker 3: batting practice, or you take your flips and you go
- 17:29Speaker 3: into a game. What do guys do now? All the time.
- 17:33Speaker 1: In the hit in the cage, off.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Of what machine throwing one hundred miles an hour or
- 17:37Speaker 3: a traject throwing real stuff. They take hundreds of swings
- 17:41Speaker 3: off balls that are.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Shoot poo poo poo, poop.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Poop poop, and every swing is I gotta get to
- 17:50Speaker 3: it right and then so it just.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Those are gamers.
- 17:54Speaker 3: So those are game swings. We're in the past, guys,
- 17:57Speaker 3: did you didn't? I didn't take game swings ever. During
- 18:00Speaker 3: the year. I took my fifteen swings at BP. I
- 18:02Speaker 3: took my twenty five to thirty flips here we go.
- 18:05Speaker 3: But it wasn't game speed. It was more like get lose,
- 18:08Speaker 3: get the hands going, get the body going, Bubba. These
- 18:11Speaker 3: guys are taking hundreds of swings a day off, in
- 18:13Speaker 3: the off season, in the spring trainings, in the before
- 18:17Speaker 3: the games, they are taking hundreds of swings off these
- 18:19Speaker 3: machines that are throwing legitimately one hundred guys go in
- 18:24Speaker 3: and say, I'm gonna take one hundred at bats off
- 18:25Speaker 3: Paul schemes.
- 18:27Speaker 1: It makes sense. I don't know if gosh I will
- 18:30Speaker 1: tell you why it makes sense.
- 18:31Speaker 3: I guess I forget. I wish I could remember who
- 18:33Speaker 3: told me that, but who had that theory, because I
- 18:35Speaker 3: would love to give them credit, but I'm stealing it.
- 18:37Speaker 1: But I like it. Krats are sports about quality over quantity, now, right,
- 18:42Speaker 1: If that's gonna make you better to do that, the
- 18:44Speaker 1: teams will take the hamlet bone fracture at some point
- 18:47Speaker 1: in your career if they think you're going to be
- 18:49Speaker 1: zero point one percent better from hitting that kind of
- 18:53Speaker 1: you know, those kind of practice swings versus what you're doing.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Not that it's improving every player, but if they feel
- 18:58Speaker 1: like it's improving a player, take the injury risk because
- 19:01Speaker 1: it's just part of the game, and they'll replace him
- 19:04Speaker 1: for the time being.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Owners complain about losing money, but they don't figure out
- 19:08Speaker 2: how to stop injuries. They don't take that excuse me.
- 19:12Speaker 2: They don't take that next step to say because I
- 19:16Speaker 2: got some I got some hate. When when mis went
- 19:19Speaker 2: to the ninth inning and he threw one hundred and
- 19:21Speaker 2: three or one hundred and four, they were like, z Eric,
- 19:23Speaker 2: he doesn't need to hold back. It's not about can
- 19:26Speaker 2: he make it to the ninth It's not about will
- 19:28Speaker 2: he last to the ninth. To me, guys who get
- 19:32Speaker 2: hurt throughout their career, if you're doing things that excuse
- 19:36Speaker 2: me will get you hurt, or we have an idea
- 19:40Speaker 2: that could get you hurt, how do you avoid those injuries? So,
- 19:44Speaker 2: if what AJ's saying, I love theories, you know I
- 19:46Speaker 2: love conspiracy theories. If what AJ's saying that max intent
- 19:49Speaker 2: swing could be causing more stress on that hamdmate area,
- 19:57Speaker 2: would you stop taking so many swings off the tra
- 20:01Speaker 2: Would you stop if a max intent bullpen at ninety
- 20:06Speaker 2: five could cause you an injury when maybe ninety in
- 20:10Speaker 2: your pen would be fine, maybe eighty eight would cause
- 20:13Speaker 2: you to be able to figure out how to throw
- 20:15Speaker 2: more strikes. Would you do that? Or is the game
- 20:18Speaker 2: saying no, no, no, no, we got to give you
- 20:20Speaker 2: the best of the best all the time. Redline it.
- 20:23Speaker 2: And when you're hurt, it's totally fine. When the reality
- 20:26Speaker 2: is it's your career, you're not totally fine. Somebody's gonna
- 20:29Speaker 2: come and take your job.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I mean when people watch MISRASKI right now, I feel
- 20:36Speaker 1: like the sentiments like this is insane. I've never seen
- 20:39Speaker 1: anything like this. I hope it lasts. Just naturally was pitching.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Someone was pitching the other day and so was it Smoltz.
- 20:46Speaker 3: It said on TV that you know, the whole thing
- 20:49Speaker 3: is when is he going to get hurt? I forget
- 20:50Speaker 3: when Yeah, a couple weeks a few weeks ago, he
- 20:54Speaker 3: was talking about schemes. Yeah it was schemes. Yeah, that's exactly.
- 20:57Speaker 3: And it was like wow, okay, I mean, I don't know.
- 21:00Speaker 1: He didn't mean it. No, he didn't mean it.
- 21:01Speaker 3: He didn't mean it like that, but it just people
- 21:03Speaker 3: took it as people took it as like why are
- 21:06Speaker 3: we talking? You know? Whatever it was, it was taken
- 21:08Speaker 3: completely out it. I don't mean right, it wasn't. It
- 21:12Speaker 3: was just the way he kind of said it. People
- 21:13Speaker 3: were like, which, whatever. But I honestly believe that the
- 21:18Speaker 3: more I think about the theory with the hammy bone,
- 21:20Speaker 3: because it's just more swings and it's more vibrations, and
- 21:23Speaker 3: it's just more chances of something happening on just like
- 21:28Speaker 3: not solid contact. And also constantly it's the same as
- 21:31Speaker 3: when you throw bullpen after bullpen, and every bullpen is
- 21:34Speaker 3: a max effort, every bullpen, every bullpen guy that comes
- 21:37Speaker 3: to the game, every pitch is max effort. Every starter
- 21:40Speaker 3: is max effort. There's never any like I'm just gonna
- 21:42Speaker 3: do and then when I need it, I'll jump out
- 21:44Speaker 3: and get it. Eventually, stuff breaks. It sucks, but stuff
- 21:47Speaker 3: breaks no matter who you are, how good a shavy
- 21:49Speaker 3: and everything is going to break at some point.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Yep, I'm with you. Lastly, uh, the Tigers lost Jack Flaherty.
- 21:59Speaker 1: He's got some ankle issue. So when Schoogle came back,
- 22:04Speaker 1: they lose another starter just to add to the mix there.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Just wanted to get that in while we're talking about
- 22:08Speaker 1: all the pitching.
- 22:08Speaker 3: And they aren't good right now. No, the next day
- 22:12Speaker 3: too back they lost.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Yeah, they're gonna have to go on alund pretty quickly.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I know they should be able to hit that tomorrow
- 22:22Speaker 2: according to their GM, because tomorrow the players are going
- 22:26Speaker 2: to be older, because isn't that what he said in
- 22:27Speaker 2: the offseason, like, yeah, once.
- 22:29Speaker 3: These guys get older, they're going to get better.
- 22:31Speaker 2: So tomorrow the Tigers offense should be better, right, isn't
- 22:33Speaker 2: that what we heard?
- 22:35Speaker 3: Correct?
- 22:35Speaker 1: Tomorrow foul Territory will be a better show because US
- 22:38Speaker 1: three will be one day older, one day wiser.
- 22:41Speaker 3: And okay, just real quick, are they too far out
- 22:44Speaker 3: to get back into the division? I mean, they were
- 22:46Speaker 3: up fifteen and a half last year and lost.
- 22:48Speaker 1: They're not too far out. But some of its eye
- 22:50Speaker 1: test and percentage chance, something's happened with a perfect storm.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Tigers fell apart, like you always said.
- 22:57Speaker 3: So the Tigers since the second half of whatever they're
- 23:02Speaker 3: choke job whatever you want to call it, started last
- 23:04Speaker 3: year yep to this almost been almost a full year.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Now, almost exactly.
- 23:08Speaker 3: So which team are they? Are they the good team
- 23:11Speaker 3: that had the fifteen game lead, or are they the
- 23:13Speaker 3: crappy team for the last year that's thirteen games under
- 23:16Speaker 3: five hundred.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Right now, they're the crappy team. It's been a year.
- 23:18Speaker 1: It's way way too long.
- 23:19Speaker 3: That's just fair.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and they've got they've got three weeks to figure
- 23:22Speaker 1: it out, to clean it up. Three weeks because when
- 23:24Speaker 1: you get to all start, it's like, all right, now
- 23:26Speaker 1: you got to start getting moving here because of the
- 23:28Speaker 1: trade deadline.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Who can they move Schoobl? Gosh if they trade school,
- 23:31Speaker 3: there'll be a riots in Detroit.
- 23:32Speaker 1: I know, but that's he's not if they're not in
- 23:35Speaker 1: playoff position. I know, he gone, Do.
- 23:37Speaker 3: You try, Schoobl? Do you trade mice? Do you trade
- 23:40Speaker 3: you tried to trade Flairty? Do you move into your
- 23:42Speaker 3: hitters now?
- 23:43Speaker 1: Because it's about two controls, Google's gone that I don't know.
- 23:46Speaker 3: That's that's what they're gonna have to do something.
- 23:50Speaker 1: What's up? Trent Grisham? I l that hurts because he
- 23:54Speaker 1: had a super slow start and then he'd been playing well,
- 23:56Speaker 1: right hamstring strain for him. Remember Judges out right now,
- 24:00Speaker 1: although Martian comes back and they've got a lot of
- 24:04Speaker 1: good outfield depth running right now.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Yeah, but this is a big deal, especially with Judge out.
- 24:10Speaker 1: I mean, what about this one? Yeah, John Carlos that back.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I feel like you can never count on him. It sucks.
- 24:19Speaker 1: He's Robert Orrie just just if he's good for you know.
- 24:22Speaker 1: September fifteenth, two weeks Google the name if you're not
- 24:27Speaker 1: a basketball fan or it's been a minute since he's
- 24:29Speaker 1: been a guy. But he basically would chill all season,
- 24:32Speaker 1: and then he'd pop up in the playoffs and he
- 24:34Speaker 1: started making six to ten and he can make threes
- 24:36Speaker 1: and you can't block him, and he was too old
- 24:38Speaker 1: to do much else, and he was so freaking good.
- 24:41Speaker 1: He was clutch. John Charlot, he can kind of be
- 24:44Speaker 1: that guy. He can't run, he can't play anywhere close
- 24:47Speaker 1: to a full season, but he can hit the ball
- 24:49Speaker 1: harder than anyone else, and he can stand in the
- 24:51Speaker 1: box and be a presence in the playoffs. You can
- 24:56Speaker 1: afford that.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Speaking of, since we have forty five seconds, should we
- 24:59Speaker 3: mention your Knicks winning? Yeah? So I know you're shuret
- 25:02Speaker 3: in your big in New York can And also I
- 25:06Speaker 3: know we got to go real quickly here. But did
- 25:08Speaker 3: the Knicks winn or did the Spurs just choke every
- 25:10Speaker 3: game within a double digit lead and every one every game, dude,
- 25:16Speaker 3: a twenty nine point lead. I watched every sorry you
- 25:19Speaker 3: gotta win that game that one.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Yes, but the Spurs were fast star as they getting
- 25:23Speaker 1: a rhythm quicker. Nicks just take longer to get in
- 25:25Speaker 1: a rhythm. But they would eventually because.
- 25:28Speaker 3: The kept missing shots and Darren Fox, Darren Fox, why
- 25:32Speaker 3: are you shooting a layup? Dude?
- 25:40Speaker 1: Shocker? The Blue Jays and the Yankees don't love each other,
- 25:43Speaker 1: and we love that in our sport, real rivalry. The
- 25:47Speaker 1: top two teams in the American LEAGUEES from last year
- 25:49Speaker 1: meeting up this past weekend and Jose Caballero was pissing
- 25:53Speaker 1: off the Blue Jays. Can you run through first off?
- 25:56Speaker 1: Just tell me? Did he do anything wrong?
- 25:58Speaker 3: No? Okay, no, he's playing within the rules. I love it.
- 26:03Speaker 1: He's just bothering Toronto.
- 26:05Speaker 3: He's just pissing Toronto off because Yankees also beat him
- 26:07Speaker 3: two out of three, so they were a little bit like, oh,
- 26:09Speaker 3: what's he doing? So he's look, he looks down at
- 26:12Speaker 3: ten and they have to pitchclock. You have to look
- 26:15Speaker 3: out at eight, right, so he's at ten at ten,
- 26:18Speaker 3: he kind of fakes him out, and the pictures are
- 26:20Speaker 3: getting said and they would start and they are like, oh,
- 26:22Speaker 3: you gotta wait till he looks at you. But the
- 26:24Speaker 3: rules are you have to eait listen. I know this.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Myce have a son playing college baseball. They have a
- 26:28Speaker 3: pitch clock. The rules are the same. They stand there
- 26:32Speaker 3: in the box and the pictures that way, and they
- 26:34Speaker 3: look at the clock like this, and they stand there
- 26:37Speaker 3: and then when it hits nine, they go. And the
- 26:40Speaker 3: pitchers out there just waiting for twenty seconds or whatever,
- 26:43Speaker 3: just standing there right. The hitters literally like this, and
- 26:48Speaker 3: they were like this. They're not even looking at the picture.
- 26:49Speaker 3: They're literally looking at the clock and then they here
- 26:52Speaker 3: we go. So I get it. It's it's the games
- 26:55Speaker 3: and ship pitchers were doing games with ship early. Surezer
- 26:57Speaker 3: was trying all kinds of stuff. Remember, guys are trying
- 26:59Speaker 3: all kinds of his pictures. He's playing the game the
- 27:02Speaker 3: way the rules are rutten.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Should the rules be changed or it's fine, no, it
- 27:08Speaker 1: should be changing.
- 27:09Speaker 3: The question I'm the hobe why but why why would
- 27:13Speaker 3: we change the rules?
- 27:14Speaker 2: Because because John Schneider and the Blue Jays are mad
- 27:18Speaker 2: about it, Like that's like I know we're gonna go
- 27:21Speaker 2: through it, and I don't want to jump ahead. But
- 27:22Speaker 2: like John Schneider said, there's a lot of major league
- 27:26Speaker 2: players in this league, there seems to be one guy
- 27:30Speaker 2: that has an issue with it. Was he talking about
- 27:35Speaker 2: I mean, am I reading like? Am I reading that incorrectly?
- 27:38Speaker 2: Like Why does he have an issue with it? He
- 27:40Speaker 2: is doing everything that he can, Like, are you gonna
- 27:42Speaker 2: tell a picture? Hey, he can't throw at four seconds,
- 27:45Speaker 2: Why well, he has to either wait till five. He
- 27:48Speaker 2: has to do it at five, or he has to
- 27:49Speaker 2: wait till two seconds, Like there's a there's no rule.
- 27:52Speaker 2: He is well within the rule. He's gaming the system
- 27:57Speaker 2: and like to get mad about it.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Just shows that it.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Jose cabiiro is swimming laps in Blue Jay's heads, like, yes,
- 28:07Speaker 2: it might be tough to do, but you have to
- 28:09Speaker 2: be like you do not have to look at him,
- 28:12Speaker 2: you do not have to make eye contact. And the
- 28:13Speaker 2: fact that he can like deak him out. The pitcher
- 28:17Speaker 2: gets a warning. So if he does it again, it's
- 28:19Speaker 2: a ball like that is a that is great gamesmanship.
- 28:23Speaker 3: It's like a quarterback.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Oh well, you can't wait to hike it till it
- 28:27Speaker 2: says one second. What No, I'm gonna hike it at
- 28:31Speaker 2: three seconds. I'm gonna hike it at one. Sometimes I'm
- 28:33Speaker 2: gonna hike it right away at ten seconds on the
- 28:35Speaker 2: game clock. It's all the same thing.
- 28:38Speaker 1: It's a good call. There's pump fakes in every sport.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Basically that has a clock. Yeah, basketball, of course, but
- 28:45Speaker 1: if you don't like it, I mean the football, they
- 28:47Speaker 1: run the spread thing where they get into a formation,
- 28:50Speaker 1: the defense does it, and then they're like.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Oh maha, green eightpen and then then change the play
- 28:58Speaker 3: and the defense end has to go all run around
- 29:00Speaker 3: and change everything. All he's doing is he's looking down
- 29:04Speaker 3: and then he kind of looks like this, but then
- 29:05Speaker 3: he never really fully looks up, and they kept falling
- 29:07Speaker 3: for it. Put in the scouting report right eight seconds,
- 29:12Speaker 3: be ready, wait till there's eight seconds. If you know Jose,
- 29:15Speaker 3: it's like Jacoby Elsberry was known for getting catcher's interferences.
- 29:18Speaker 3: You know we did when he came up, We backed up.
- 29:20Speaker 3: You know what he did. You know what you do
- 29:22Speaker 3: with kaby Erero is a pitcher. You look at the
- 29:24Speaker 3: clock and when it says eight seconds, I'm ready to go.
- 29:27Speaker 3: Because you don't got to be ready till there's eight seconds.
- 29:29Speaker 3: So if he's ready at fifteen, make him stand there,
- 29:32Speaker 3: he said, especially if they already us this time out,
- 29:34Speaker 3: make him stand there.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Yeah, you can cat and mouse it right back at
- 29:37Speaker 1: right back at him, but.
- 29:39Speaker 3: You got to be prepared for it. Now, it's a thing,
- 29:41Speaker 3: be prepared for it.
- 29:41Speaker 1: It's in the scouting report. Yes, don't get set and
- 29:46Speaker 1: deal until eight seconds. Yeah, right, wouldn't you tell your
- 29:49Speaker 1: picture that, Hey, for this guy, don't even think about ten.
- 29:52Speaker 1: It's eight. Yes, And hey, he might have won a
- 29:55Speaker 1: ready because now he's got you thinking about the pitch
- 29:58Speaker 1: clock more than you want. But that's part of his game. Yeah,
- 30:02Speaker 1: he's a fun play a man flee. That's his identity.
- 30:06Speaker 1: He's he's fun. We had a long talk about him
- 30:09Speaker 1: on Friday because they were starting to sneak Volpian more
- 30:11Speaker 1: for playing time and Voby's not hitting. He should not
- 30:15Speaker 1: lose any pt. We had a long thing. A lot
- 30:17Speaker 1: of Yankee fans actually wrote in and said thank you
- 30:19Speaker 1: for pointing that out because it's weird. But he's special.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I think he gives the Yankees a lot of bite.
- 30:24Speaker 1: This is what you want right shield spaces. He plays
- 30:27Speaker 1: a good defense, he can swing in a little bit,
- 30:29Speaker 1: switch hitter right, pissing off the other team, and the
- 30:32Speaker 1: Yankees pounced on him in the ninth to win the series.
- 30:34Speaker 2: My issue is why did the umpire and we haven't
- 30:37Speaker 2: heard exactly what the umpire were saying. Why does the
- 30:39Speaker 2: umpire feel like he needs to get in there and
- 30:42Speaker 2: tell them, like, tell him, hey, he's got a he's delaying.
- 30:46Speaker 2: He's intentionally delaying because didn't they make an announcement during
- 30:49Speaker 2: the game. The batter was something about intentionally delaying. Why
- 30:55Speaker 2: does he need to get in there on that? What
- 30:59Speaker 2: was the intention of delay?
- 31:00Speaker 1: He was doing the rules, he warned him, and I'm like,
- 31:02Speaker 1: for warned. What's there's not a rule like that? I
- 31:05Speaker 1: bet you MLB called that whatever? The mpoys after the game,
- 31:08Speaker 1: whoever the mpoys and said, hey, that's not a thing.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Unless we're missing something, that's not a thing.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:14Speaker 2: And the other thing too about Cabairo, Like everybody's like
- 31:18Speaker 2: whether you think Cabrieiro is helping the Yankees or not.
- 31:20Speaker 2: He's not a star, and that's okay. People who are
- 31:23Speaker 2: not stars, people who are not year in and year
- 31:26Speaker 2: out all stars have to figure out ways to be
- 31:30Speaker 2: better than the opponent that's out there. And that's what
- 31:32Speaker 2: he's been doing this year. He steals bases, he plays
- 31:34Speaker 2: good defense. Why they're not playing him? I won't rehash
- 31:37Speaker 2: your Friday conversation, but he's consistently a below average OPS
- 31:43Speaker 2: plus batter that adds a ridiculous amount of stolen bases
- 31:48Speaker 2: as a different element that he has added. When they
- 31:52Speaker 2: first instituted the one time out but no but no pitchclock,
- 31:57Speaker 2: he would take the longest time to get back in
- 32:00Speaker 2: the box and it was irritating the other team. What
- 32:04Speaker 2: if a pitch is just a little bit off because
- 32:06Speaker 2: you're irritated the other pitcher. Now, all of a sudden,
- 32:09Speaker 2: an average hitter becomes an above average hitter, or your
- 32:12Speaker 2: team who needs a break somewhere becomes you know, a
- 32:16Speaker 2: team that can get that break. I mean, this is
- 32:18Speaker 2: a guy that had forty nine stolen bases one year.
- 32:20Speaker 2: He's got fifteen or rated this year. He's got a
- 32:22Speaker 2: good shot at thirty bags if he gets his PT
- 32:26Speaker 2: And like, you gotta be able to you gotta be
- 32:29Speaker 2: able to work around the edges because everybody's doing that
- 32:32Speaker 2: throughout the game. And that's how average players stay in
- 32:35Speaker 2: the game.
- 32:36Speaker 1: And he wants to play every day. And he hadn't
- 32:38Speaker 1: really gotten that full time shot until right now with
- 32:41Speaker 1: the Yanks, right even with the Rays, like he was
- 32:44Speaker 1: all over the round.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Yeah, but by the way, you know who was really
- 32:47Speaker 3: good at doing this? You me all the time doing
- 32:52Speaker 3: what annoying the crap out of pitchers or another team.
- 32:58Speaker 3: It was great. They started yelling at me. I'm like,
- 33:01Speaker 3: we got him, he got him, Like if I did,
- 33:06Speaker 3: if I did tell them, they'd be like, we got him,
- 33:08Speaker 3: got that guy.
- 33:10Speaker 2: I told this story on the show before. I played
- 33:13Speaker 2: with a guy who squared the bunt. When I was
- 33:15Speaker 2: playing with the Blue Jays, AJ was behind a dish.
- 33:19Speaker 2: AJ started yelling at him for button and this dude
- 33:22Speaker 2: was hot at the time. He was hot, a triple
- 33:25Speaker 2: A big league fringe player. Young guy struck out comes back.
- 33:30Speaker 3: To doug Out.
- 33:30Speaker 2: He's like, he's like, why was AJ yelling at me?
- 33:35Speaker 2: I was like, he's yelling at you to try to
- 33:36Speaker 2: get in your head. And I was like, what happened?
- 33:39Speaker 2: He goes well. I kind of was a little hesitant.
- 33:41Speaker 2: On the next pit he won. He won because you
- 33:44Speaker 2: allowed the little things. AJ did nothing wrong. There's no
- 33:48Speaker 2: there's no time where AJ or or Cabayio ever has
- 33:54Speaker 2: to be like, oh okay, guys here, let me hug
- 33:57Speaker 2: you and then we'll just go out and you throw
- 33:58Speaker 2: a baseball at me and I'll tr to hit it. No,
- 34:01Speaker 2: like it's all within the game. It's not even close
- 34:04Speaker 2: to even like a fringe. That's a little, that's a little,
- 34:07Speaker 2: that's bush league. Stop, No, it's not. The game is
- 34:10Speaker 2: to win.
- 34:12Speaker 1: And almost everyone plays a sport at some point in
- 34:16Speaker 1: life and experiences and in your head.
- 34:19Speaker 3: People do stiff stuff all the time. And I people, anybody,
- 34:25Speaker 3: anybody that plays a sport long enough, there'll be a
- 34:28Speaker 3: moment in their career, whatever level you want to play
- 34:32Speaker 3: where something happens and you've been the rules a little bit.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Like let's say you play tennis and the balls out
- 34:39Speaker 3: and but you're like, I really need this point you
- 34:41Speaker 3: call out or basketball that they're commercial the basketball commercial
- 34:45Speaker 3: about sportsmanship where the ball goes off the kid. He's like,
- 34:48Speaker 3: mister ref nos off me giving like, no, yeah, there's
- 34:52Speaker 3: so many things at the reps job, bro, There's so
- 34:55Speaker 3: many things that happen in sports that I don't know
- 35:00Speaker 3: that happened. There's I could tell so many stories of
- 35:03Speaker 3: guys saying stuff to me or me saying stuff to
- 35:05Speaker 3: God like and they're just trying to get you a
- 35:08Speaker 3: little bit off your game enough to where it affects you.
- 35:11Speaker 3: I remember here, I'll tell Jose Bautista, right who I know,
- 35:14Speaker 3: and crauch, you played with him. He accused me one
- 35:16Speaker 3: time of throwing dirt on his shoes and he couldn't
- 35:19Speaker 3: hit because I was throwing dirt. He'd come up to
- 35:21Speaker 3: hit and I throw dirt on it. I'm like, maybe
- 35:23Speaker 3: I did that, but I'm like, if me, me throwing
- 35:25Speaker 3: a piece of dirt on your shoes keeps you from
- 35:28Speaker 3: going deep, then I won. Yep. I'll take that all
- 35:31Speaker 3: day long.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Wow, that was his kryptonite.
- 35:34Speaker 3: Yeah, he said. He said that. He told we have
- 35:36Speaker 3: a lot of mutual friends. He lives in Florida, and
- 35:38Speaker 3: I see him. He's like, dude, you used to throw
- 35:40Speaker 3: dirt on my shoes. Dirt on your shoes. He's like, yeah,
- 35:42Speaker 3: he used to make me so mad. I'm like, well,
- 35:44Speaker 3: then I won. If I could pick up a little
- 35:46Speaker 3: pebble and throw a piece of dirt on your shoes
- 35:48Speaker 3: and it wins, then I win, because then you can't hit,
- 35:51Speaker 3: and your whole game is hitting and.
- 35:53Speaker 1: A game that is played in dirt.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Yes, exactly, dirt bothered exactly. Dirty. Was so mad because
- 35:59Speaker 3: he said I threw dirt on his shoes.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Epic.
- 36:01Speaker 2: I was like, WHOA, let's and now you're probably thinking, Man,
- 36:05Speaker 2: if that's all it would have taken, I know, what
- 36:07Speaker 2: did he have?
- 36:07Speaker 3: Like one hundred and fifty homers in two seasons?
- 36:10Speaker 2: Like, yeah, I would have done. I'd have thrown it
- 36:11Speaker 2: in your face. I would have gone to the like
- 36:14Speaker 2: to not hit a homer for sure.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Yes, it was like, Uh, we used to have, you know,
- 36:19Speaker 3: meetings with pictures because he had the big leg kick.
- 36:21Speaker 3: You'd slidestep on him and the next one you got
- 36:23Speaker 3: big leg kick and you'd rush him and you change.
- 36:26Speaker 3: So we'd all tell our starters like, hey, Batista comes up,
- 36:28Speaker 3: throw out of the stretch, like with no one on base. Yes,
- 36:31Speaker 3: because he makes up your times, because he would tie
- 36:33Speaker 3: it off the picture and he would get him and
- 36:35Speaker 3: then he would start getting mad about it. And then
- 36:37Speaker 3: I threw dirt on his shoes and gosh, and I
- 36:39Speaker 3: was terrible. Meanwhile, Edwin's on the back like this the
- 36:43Speaker 3: whole time, Eddie.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Hey, cavit is different. I like the way that he
- 36:50Speaker 1: plays ball, and I think many do too. And he's
- 36:52Speaker 1: resonated with Yankee fans and many baseball fans. Support for

- 38:04Speaker 1: or a boost token gambling problem more concerned, there's help
- 38:07Speaker 1: called one eight hundred gambler Orioles Padres Saturday night, which
- 38:11Speaker 1: was a distracting evening. There was an NBA Finals moment
- 38:14Speaker 1: for a team that hadn't won in a billion years.
- 38:15Speaker 1: That's happened in our sport, and it overtakes the sport.
- 38:18Speaker 1: But there was beef between the Orioles and the Padres.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Bogarts hit in the head, Machado was buzzed right, So
- 38:25Speaker 1: then they went after the Orioles best player, Gunner Henderson
- 38:28Speaker 1: missed twice and then eventually got to him in the
- 38:31Speaker 1: ninth You could almost seek under like third time, like
- 38:33Speaker 1: third try. I think he was saying when they got
- 38:35Speaker 1: to him, but I want to start here that keep
- 38:38Speaker 1: this up for a moment. Some people in the social
- 38:41Speaker 1: media sphere were losing their mind aj because Alburnaz wasn't
- 38:46Speaker 1: just attacking the other side. I'll skip, I'll read the
- 38:49Speaker 1: whole quote. It's worth it. So on the ninth inning,
- 38:53Speaker 1: hit by pitch ejections blah blah blah. Trey hit Bogarts Gibson,
- 38:57Speaker 1: the rookie in the head. Their doug out didn't like
- 38:59Speaker 1: it at all. This is Craig Roburna speaking quote. Obviously,
- 39:02Speaker 1: it definitely wasn't intentional. It was a two scene that
- 39:04Speaker 1: slipped out of his hand. I get there. Why they're
- 39:07Speaker 1: mad the ball hit him in the head and he
- 39:08Speaker 1: had to come out of the game. I'm not saying
- 39:10Speaker 1: the ball to Gunner was on purpose, but it was
- 39:11Speaker 1: done the right way and that's why there was no
- 39:15Speaker 1: gripes from us, and Gunner was fine with it and
- 39:17Speaker 1: just took it to first base. Some people were like,
- 39:21Speaker 1: you got a back your player.
- 39:23Speaker 3: He did. He did right with what he just said.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Right there, he back to this player. You know why
- 39:28Speaker 3: back to this player?
- 39:28Speaker 1: Why?
- 39:29Speaker 3: Because he said, you know what, it's over with now,
- 39:31Speaker 3: it's squad. This is what happened when players can handle
- 39:34Speaker 3: their own business. Listen, did boguards get hit on purpose?
- 39:37Speaker 3: I don't think so at all. I think it was
- 39:39Speaker 3: a mistake. But I'll tell you this as a former player,
- 39:42Speaker 3: and there's a guy who is thrown out a lot.
- 39:44Speaker 3: There were times where people like I'm gonna hit a guy.
- 39:45Speaker 3: I'm like, nah, we're okay. Then there are times like
- 39:48Speaker 3: you know what, go get a guy okay, and they
- 39:50Speaker 3: knew and guy usually knew it was coming. You hit
- 39:52Speaker 3: him in the leg, or they're down in here the
- 39:54Speaker 3: waste area, they're okay. They go to first like, okay,
- 39:57Speaker 3: I understand you got hit. I got hit you. I
- 39:59Speaker 3: remember we played the Cup one time, right, Paul and
- 40:01Speaker 3: Erica got hit in the face. Boom, he hits a
- 40:04Speaker 3: home run, is next to bat, and then everyone's like, oh.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Paul's like, no, we're good. I even discore, right he
- 40:10Speaker 3: did it. I think the Twins Carl Bovano hit him
- 40:12Speaker 3: the face. Next to boat he hit a home run too,
- 40:13Speaker 3: so it's his call. He's more like, Paul, you want
- 40:16Speaker 3: I drove up to palm and be like you want someone.
- 40:17Speaker 3: He's like, no, I'm good, I hit I got a
- 40:19Speaker 3: home run. Right. But Dander Bogarts, who's you know, whether
- 40:21Speaker 3: you think he's good or bad, He's a leader on
- 40:24Speaker 3: this Padres team. He gets hit in the head, the
- 40:26Speaker 3: Padres are gonna be pissed. I'm sorry. So they're gonna
- 40:29Speaker 3: try and hit somebody, and the fact that they did it.
- 40:32Speaker 3: They did it right. They hit Gunner and they should
- 40:34Speaker 3: have hit him the first time. I hate when you
- 40:35Speaker 3: miss and you get a second shot. That's the only
- 40:37Speaker 3: thing I didn't like about that three true, I didn't
- 40:39Speaker 3: like him that part. But you know what, good for Gunner,
- 40:42Speaker 3: good for Craig Alburn, as were saying, you know what,
- 40:44Speaker 3: just go he went to first the accept it and
- 40:46Speaker 3: now it's squashed. It's it's over and done with. When
- 40:49Speaker 3: it lingers and when guys are like, oh, the padres
- 40:53Speaker 3: are pull craft because they did no, you know what,
- 40:55Speaker 3: it's squashed. Now the manager handled it right, Gunner handled
- 40:57Speaker 3: it right. Everyone handled it right.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Just dander Okay, Yeah, the Orioles clubhouse knows Kratz like
- 41:02Speaker 1: the Craig Alburn has been around the game a while.
- 41:05Speaker 1: He knows the pulse. I know he's a new manager,
- 41:07Speaker 1: but he knows the pulse of the players, going, Hey,
- 41:10Speaker 1: our rookie couldn't control himself on a couple pitches there,
- 41:14Speaker 1: and we know that they're going to come after us.
- 41:16Speaker 1: They're not going to change like the commandments of the
- 41:19Speaker 1: sport overnight. So he's like, yep, this is what happened,
- 41:21Speaker 1: and now it's done. Thank you. We don't need Gunnar
- 41:24Speaker 1: Henderson getting hurt. We're a fringe playoff team.
- 41:27Speaker 2: We could I mean, yeah, you could have sat there
- 41:29Speaker 2: and gone, well, you know he threw twice at him
- 41:33Speaker 2: and then the third one in the ninth inning with
- 41:35Speaker 2: two outs like that's when that's when he got him.
- 41:37Speaker 2: But that he could have said that, but Craig squashed it.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Craig squashed it. The umpires. I have to give credit
- 41:44Speaker 2: to the empires because there's times when somebody gets hitting
- 41:47Speaker 2: the head, people are chirping back and forth, back and forth.
- 41:50Speaker 2: The umpires are like, oh, well, this is my chance
- 41:52Speaker 2: to step in and warn everybody. No, you don't need
- 41:55Speaker 2: to step in and warn anybody like you need to
- 41:57Speaker 2: let the team handle it at the time. If the
- 41:59Speaker 2: pot they're super pissed about it, it's the first batter next inning.
- 42:03Speaker 2: Rarely does that happen. You go after one of the
- 42:06Speaker 2: guys that will make sure that Craig Albernaz thinks twice
- 42:12Speaker 2: about who they put in a game. Trey Gibson thinks
- 42:15Speaker 2: twice about going inside. That's how you handle both sides
- 42:19Speaker 2: of this coin. And I thought everybody handled it very professionally,
- 42:22Speaker 2: including the umpires.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Mm hmm. I think sometimes people just want the theatrics
- 42:28Speaker 1: of the manager.
- 42:29Speaker 3: Well, it's easy behind the screen. It's also easy behind
- 42:32Speaker 3: the screen and a keyboard and in a username to
- 42:34Speaker 3: say whatever you want to say, right so, but until
- 42:37Speaker 3: you I mean, I've been in this situation. I played
- 42:39Speaker 3: for guys that were all about throwing at guys, have
- 42:41Speaker 3: been played for guys that didn't want to hit anybody, right,
- 42:44Speaker 3: And it's just it's just a feeling.
- 42:46Speaker 2: It's just a feeling. I'll just say, what were the
- 42:50Speaker 2: fans saying? What were they pissed about? Padres fans were
- 42:53Speaker 2: pissed that the that they shouldn't have gotten hit like
- 42:58Speaker 2: it was not out.
- 43:00Speaker 1: It's not Padres fans. There's two. I mean, if I'm
- 43:02Speaker 1: gonna pinpoint a fan base, it would be Orioles fans, right,
- 43:06Speaker 1: not not all, but some thinking two things. One, you
- 43:10Speaker 1: had your shot like AJ mentioned, Then you had your
- 43:12Speaker 1: shot again. Then in the ninth you take another shot,
- 43:15Speaker 1: like you get your shot, you clearly went after him,
- 43:18Speaker 1: you missed, then you missed again. Then they don't like
- 43:21Speaker 1: that Alburnaz doesn't attack them post game. That's a set
- 43:25Speaker 1: of fans that I saw online that we're pissed, which
- 43:28Speaker 1: I feel like I understand where they're coming from. And
- 43:31Speaker 1: that's why it's worth bringing up on the show to
- 43:33Speaker 1: be like, hey, players are fine with it, so it
- 43:37Speaker 1: should be over. Now. These teams don't play each other.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Much, but it was squashed by the players and the
- 43:42Speaker 3: manager and listen, I mean I played it a little
- 43:46Speaker 3: bit earlier era where guys handled it themselves. You do it,
- 43:49Speaker 3: you know Tony Russa famously you hit war guy will
- 43:51Speaker 3: hit three of yours, right, Well, that's what at leads
- 43:54Speaker 3: the fights. I'm not saying everyone needs a fight, but
- 43:56Speaker 3: there are times where if someone gets hit, guess what
- 43:58Speaker 3: someone else, someone on their team music to get hit.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Yep.
- 44:00Speaker 3: It sends a message that hey, I got I got
- 44:02Speaker 3: your back in fine. There was also times I got hit,
- 44:05Speaker 3: plenty of times I got hit, and the guys will
- 44:06Speaker 3: be like, I'll be like, no, I kind of did
- 44:08Speaker 3: some stupid I kind of deserve that one. I'll just
- 44:10Speaker 3: go to first.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Dirt threw dirt Jatista. Yeah, so ari A Dickey hit you.
- 44:17Speaker 3: Yeah, that was his best chance against me.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Hey, we're here and we're running through a bunch of
- 44:24Speaker 1: injuries real quick before we get to Kurt ho So
- 44:26Speaker 1: I'll give you a few here. Vin ep we mentioned
- 44:30Speaker 1: as the ham at bone, just like Jose Ramirez. Tough
- 44:34Speaker 1: season so far for him. He's going to miss four
- 44:36Speaker 1: to six weeks for a Royal team that's one of
- 44:38Speaker 1: the worst in baseball. They're worst, I think than the
- 44:41Speaker 1: Tigers right now. I think it's pretty Angels Tigers. Yeah there,
- 44:45Speaker 1: that's the bottom of the American League right now. So
- 44:47Speaker 1: it hurts when you don't have him, did you see?
- 44:50Speaker 1: And then a couple of arm injuries. Spencer Strider hits
- 44:54Speaker 1: the shelf again right elbow inflammation. They came out this morning.
- 44:57Speaker 1: At least I didn't get to read the report, but
- 44:58Speaker 1: it's not surgery at least for now. But we don't.
- 45:00Speaker 1: We got to figure out what's going on there.
- 45:01Speaker 3: He just hasn't been the same since he had Tommy
- 45:04Speaker 3: John's in a while.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Yeah, he was fun to watch when he was boring Quadzilla,
- 45:11Speaker 1: So hopefully he's okay. And then one more because we
- 45:14Speaker 1: harped on this one pretty strongly. And again I'm not
- 45:16Speaker 1: saying this is the reason why he got hurt, but
- 45:18Speaker 1: Chase Dolander was flying through and then the Rockies decided
- 45:23Speaker 1: to make him a bulk pitcher, and then he coincidentally
- 45:26Speaker 1: or not went down soon after that with the torn UCL.
- 45:29Speaker 1: He's probably done for the year. Man, he was off
- 45:32Speaker 1: to a six start, and you're waiting for someone with
- 45:35Speaker 1: the Rockies to actually be that good.
- 45:37Speaker 3: You know, he was, he was. He looked like he
- 45:39Speaker 3: could be the guy. Yep. But yeah, I mean coincident
- 45:42Speaker 3: or not, I don't know, but yes, And just how
- 45:43Speaker 3: happened as soon as they started using open or for him,
- 45:45Speaker 3: he got hurt. Not the same warm up routine, not
- 45:48Speaker 3: the same everything. I talked to a kid on my
- 45:52Speaker 3: son's summer ball team, and it was great to hear
- 45:54Speaker 3: this kid. He he goes to U mass and he's
- 45:56Speaker 3: a psychology major, but he hasn't with the day he's
- 45:58Speaker 3: a starting pitcher, the day he pitches, he has it
- 46:01Speaker 3: like minute by minute mapped out. Now imagine having imagined
- 46:04Speaker 3: the big league level. I remember I had pretty much
- 46:06Speaker 3: from about six o'clock on my day was pretty much
- 46:09Speaker 3: mapped out, kind of earlier than that, but like the times,
- 46:12Speaker 3: what time I'd go out to stretch, what time I'd
- 46:13Speaker 3: start with the pitcher would start throwing, what time the
- 46:16Speaker 3: game started, you know, all that stuff. When I had
- 46:18Speaker 3: to drink my pregame drink, and when I had to
- 46:20Speaker 3: use the bathroom and all that was kind of pretty
- 46:21Speaker 3: much mapped out. Now, imagine being a starting pitcher and
- 46:24Speaker 3: having every minute of your day mapped out pretty much,
- 46:26Speaker 3: and then all of a sudden, like, oh, by the way,
- 46:28Speaker 3: you can't long toss for that eight minutes that you
- 46:30Speaker 3: normally and then you have to, oh, by the way,
- 46:32Speaker 3: you're pitching the third inning.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Thing.
- 46:38Speaker 2: I'm with you, It's just not it's people making decisions
- 46:42Speaker 2: that have never been out there and have never been
- 46:45Speaker 2: that guy.
- 46:46Speaker 3: That's it. That's what it is.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Yep.
- 46:48Speaker 3: And I always say this, If I'm good enough to
- 46:51Speaker 3: face the team a guy the second time through the order,
- 46:53Speaker 3: why am I not good enough to face on the
- 46:54Speaker 3: first time? So this isn't you do you believe in
- 46:58Speaker 3: me enough to give me five or six innings in
- 46:59Speaker 3: the the game? Why can't I start the game and
- 47:01Speaker 3: face them the first time up?
- 47:03Speaker 1: This is also your your potential ace, like your number
- 47:07Speaker 1: one starter stuff wise, for sure, better than back scores
- 47:17Speaker 1: during break. So we'll keep it snappy, but there were
- 47:20Speaker 1: a lot of runs scored in Las Vegas, especially in
- 47:24Speaker 1: the first and the last game against the A's. Also,
- 47:29Speaker 1: Bob knightingalll put this out that they don't think they're
- 47:31Speaker 1: gonna have any trouble recruiting. I mean, if they have
- 47:33Speaker 1: the money, I don't think so either. I mean, that
- 47:35Speaker 1: should be an easy answer, right, guys will go play there,
- 47:39Speaker 1: especially hitters.
- 47:41Speaker 3: You gotta see, well they spend the money though, right,
- 47:44Speaker 3: I do.
- 47:45Speaker 1: If you get offered one hundred mili there or somewhere else, you'll.
- 47:49Speaker 3: Well, there's no stay tax in Nevada, which is nice. Also,
- 47:53Speaker 3: I don't know, Chris, did you play in Vegas in
- 47:55Speaker 3: tripa A. No. So I got to go there ninety eight,
- 47:59Speaker 3: ninety three years. I got to go there, and people
- 48:02Speaker 3: were like, oh man, it's such a home field advantage
- 48:04Speaker 3: because everyone on the road is going out all the time.
- 48:07Speaker 3: What was funny is the home players were out with us. Yes,
- 48:11Speaker 3: they got to do it for weeks at a time.
- 48:13Speaker 3: We were there for three days, right, we didn't sleep
- 48:15Speaker 3: for three days. We were like, oh, we'll be fine.
- 48:17Speaker 3: They did that for a week straight. Now, not everyone
- 48:19Speaker 3: does that. I mean, this was obviously twenty five plus
- 48:21Speaker 3: years ago. But it wasn't the home field advantage. People
- 48:24Speaker 3: thought it was. Now football, they come in for one day,
- 48:27Speaker 3: they're in and out. Hockey they've been pretty good. But baseball,
- 48:33Speaker 3: I don't know. I mean, will people show up. I
- 48:35Speaker 3: think they will, but I don't know. It's gonna be
- 48:38Speaker 3: interesting to see how easy it is to get people
- 48:40Speaker 3: to go there.
- 48:42Speaker 1: Yeah, if they spend guys will go. Also, so a
- 48:45Speaker 1: couple quick notes here. They gave up a combined forty
- 48:48Speaker 1: two hits and thirty eight runs in the first and
- 48:50Speaker 1: last games of this six game homestand because they lost
- 48:52Speaker 1: to the Rockies twenty three to nine on Sunday giving
- 48:55Speaker 1: up six home runs. Bob Night and Galet with some
- 48:57Speaker 1: stats there, and then Mike Petrillo's tweet's good too, he said,
- 49:00Speaker 1: important fact, this is important. Triple A parks three thy
- 49:03Speaker 1: twelve feet of elevation. The new ballpark is going to
- 49:06Speaker 1: be two thousand and one thirty three, so that is
- 49:08Speaker 1: a big difference.
- 49:09Speaker 3: And inside and inside and human humidity.
- 49:15Speaker 1: That park is not built for major league hitters. This
- 49:17Speaker 1: one will be built for major league hitters.
- 49:19Speaker 3: Again, I played in Triple A Las Vegas. If the
- 49:22Speaker 3: wind was blown out. It was a joke. If the
- 49:24Speaker 3: wind was blown in, you couldn't hit it out of there.
- 49:27Speaker 3: That's the reason why they used to have the home
- 49:28Speaker 3: run derby at Cashman Field in Las Vegas because the
- 49:31Speaker 3: ball flew out of there. Remember they used to have
- 49:33Speaker 3: that home run derby. They had like all those big
- 49:34Speaker 3: dudes hitting bombs for that one time.
- 49:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's fun.
- 49:37Speaker 3: They did it for years. Well you know why because
- 49:39Speaker 3: in Vegas the Paul flew. But you're inside, they're gonna
- 49:41Speaker 3: make it. They're gonna make it. And by the way,
- 49:43Speaker 3: they have to be inside because if you've been to
- 49:45Speaker 3: Vegas in the summer, Oh my gosh, the only place
- 49:48Speaker 3: I've ever been winded out of a game too, by.
- 49:49Speaker 1: The way, oh really.
- 49:52Speaker 3: Winded out, not bringing out wind. The wind was blown
- 49:54Speaker 3: too hard and they said you can't play the game.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Wind is thirty two miles per hour, where they're like,
- 49:58Speaker 1: you can't play. Hey, we got an update on Spencer Strider.
- 50:03Speaker 1: It's not good. So mri I didn't show any ligament damage,
- 50:06Speaker 1: just inflammation. There's not concerns about him needing surgery, but
- 50:10Speaker 1: he's going to be shut down for four weeks and
- 50:13Speaker 1: then he'll get in MRI again for a follow up.
- 50:16Speaker 1: So if the scan's clear, then he can begin a
- 50:19Speaker 1: throwing progression. So now we're looking at All Star break
- 50:23Speaker 1: when they would check them out and then you're throwing progression.
- 50:27Speaker 1: So you're looking at somewhere deep into August September.
- 50:31Speaker 3: You're looking. You're not touching.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Well, if he gets clear July fifteenth or a little
- 50:36Speaker 1: before that, wait eight to ten weeks from now.
- 50:40Speaker 3: Four weeks and it's four to six weeks for him
- 50:42Speaker 3: to be better. So that's your September.
- 50:46Speaker 1: Or deep in August. But yes, same thing. Yeah, late
- 50:50Speaker 1: late in the season. Still not nothing, but it's a trade.
- 50:54Speaker 1: We mentioned Sandy ol Contre and or other.
- 50:56Speaker 3: I don't know if the Bland, I don't know if
- 50:58Speaker 3: the Marlin will do that. But there's division. See, let's see, Alex.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Everything's been going Rosie for you this year, winning games,
- 51:04Speaker 3: everyone's been good. Now now it's time to we'll see.
- 51:08Speaker 3: He's a mover.
- 51:09Speaker 1: He is a he does do something big, guys, they're
- 51:13Speaker 1: gonna they're gonna acquire a starter. They'll push to acquire
- 51:18Speaker 1: a starter. I mean that would be the ultimate Braves
- 51:21Speaker 1: fans would lose their minds. They got schoogle. But this sucks.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Like we mentioned earlier, because it was earlier in the
- 51:27Speaker 1: show that we talked about Strider. This hasn't been the.
- 51:31Speaker 3: Same, hasn't since he got his elbow.
- 51:36Speaker 1: No, most guys come back. We're so used to it now.
- 51:39Speaker 3: And some guys don't. Don't know. It's not one hundred percent.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Though, No, it's not. It's gotten so good. The surgery
- 51:48Speaker 1: is so routine these days that you're used to guys
- 51:52Speaker 1: coming back and you forget who had it. Remember we
- 51:55Speaker 1: used to know, like, oh, he's a Tommy John guy.
- 51:57Speaker 1: We don't even know. It's not even remember anymore. We'll
- 51:59Speaker 1: be like, oh, did he have two? Is he a
- 52:02Speaker 1: double TJ guy?
- 52:04Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 52:04Speaker 2: Two or three? Now some guys have Yeah. Now that
- 52:07Speaker 2: extension Eddie signed that. Some people were like, why would
- 52:10Speaker 2: he ever do that with those quads? Why would you
- 52:13Speaker 2: ever sign an extension?
- 52:15Speaker 3: You just never know.
- 52:18Speaker 1: I was there covering the team. I remember I was
- 52:20Speaker 1: there talking to Team Brass about it and they were like, Hey,
- 52:23Speaker 1: we mostly do this with position players. This is the
- 52:26Speaker 1: picture we want to do it with. And when you
- 52:28Speaker 1: get to the end of that deal, it'll be interesting
- 52:29Speaker 1: to see. I mean, it's not huge money in baseball terms,
- 52:33Speaker 1: but you guys are nailing it on the head. And
- 52:36Speaker 1: you're a young player and you're a pitcher.
- 52:39Speaker 3: Pitcher especially that gets.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Thrown in front of you. It doesn't get thrown in
- 52:42Speaker 1: front of you as much as a position player. Hey,
- 52:46Speaker 1: first ballot update for All Star voting voting on the
- 52:50Speaker 1: starters the DHS, Shoho Tani and Jordon Alvarez have the
- 52:53Speaker 1: most votes. Jordon's just stupid good when he's playing. I mean,
- 52:58Speaker 1: he's gonna single handedly keep the Astros in the race
- 53:01Speaker 1: this year for a wild card in the American League.
- 53:04Speaker 1: Maybe Dodgers have four leaders, Braves have three. So get
- 53:09Speaker 1: ready for the Dodgers and Braves against the American League
- 53:13Speaker 1: in mid July. To start the game, fast record all
- 53:17Speaker 1: been catching all bees at second Acuny in the outfield.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Show Hey at d H Freddy at first Monthy at third,
- 53:24Speaker 1: Piehus in the outfield, and then you fillally.
- 53:27Speaker 3: I mean, I guess, I guess Cony of being hurt
- 53:29Speaker 3: would be the one on there that you're like, Ah,
- 53:31Speaker 3: it's an exhibition, right, here's what here's something I'll say
- 53:34Speaker 3: about this, And I don't know so it's an exhibition, right,
- 53:37Speaker 3: and the fans get to vote, but this affects your
- 53:39Speaker 3: pay as a player, So should it affect your pay
- 53:45Speaker 3: as a player when the fans can vote and you
- 53:46Speaker 3: have a guy like then you have guys that get
- 53:49Speaker 3: the thing and then they opt out. So then the
- 53:50Speaker 3: more people you know, it's it's a it's a debate
- 53:53Speaker 3: that is worth at some point maybe having.
- 53:56Speaker 1: If they should redo the system, but there's no way
- 53:58Speaker 1: to do. MLB wants to do it based on just
- 54:00Speaker 1: a hard algorithm, and players don't want to do that
- 54:02Speaker 1: either because that creates its own problems. There's not a person.
- 54:05Speaker 3: Then you have everyone trying just to be make the algorithm.
- 54:08Speaker 1: C J. Abrams is leading for shortstops and Brandon marsh
- 54:12Speaker 1: is leading an outfield spot the same team. Otto Lopez
- 54:17Speaker 1: is fifth for second base, which is crazy. Wow, he's
- 54:20Speaker 1: got to come on the show. He was on fish
- 54:21Speaker 1: on first check out that episode part of the Ft Network.
- 54:24Speaker 1: But we'll get Auto on the show at some point
- 54:28Speaker 1: or sorry. At shortstop he's fifth, and then on the
- 54:32Speaker 1: American League side, right now, the leaders are Shy Langeleier
- 54:35Speaker 1: is a catcher, then Vladdie Junior Ernie Clement at second,
- 54:38Speaker 1: Junior Camonaro at third, Bobby Wight at short outfields trout,
- 54:42Speaker 1: Judge Bellinger, and then you're it on at d H.
- 54:48Speaker 3: I can't really argue with those.
- 54:49Speaker 1: Are some good one.
- 54:49Speaker 3: Judges out though, so that's kind of yeah.
- 54:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fair. Three home runs for Vladie at first, Nick,
- 55:00Speaker 1: I mean that's one plenty.
- 55:05Speaker 3: I know that is the first first vote. I get it.
- 55:07Speaker 2: Drake Baldwin's done well, but Hunter Goodman out for a while.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Twentieth he's been out, and.
- 55:14Speaker 3: I know Hunter Goodman is going to be the Rockies
- 55:17Speaker 3: All Star like the next ten years long as he's
- 55:19Speaker 3: in Colorado.
- 55:21Speaker 1: It's popularity. Said also, I mean some people like to
- 55:26Speaker 1: reward from second half into playoffs of last year, and
- 55:29Speaker 1: that's fair,
