- 0:02Now Miami wants to talk about it.
- 0:07Several of these past plays in this last possession, the first
- 0:12one took 11 seconds off the clock, 11 seconds.
- 0:15It resulted in incompletion. They have not managed the clock
- 0:20very well. But you you can say that to
- 0:23Jacory Harris, but if he can't find anybody open, he can't.
- 0:26Find anybody open. Let me tell you what has become
- 0:29open this crowd that makes the task of Al Golden and Jacory
- 0:34Harris that much more difficult. You lose a little bit of your
- 0:37composure and your focus and understanding of the down in the
- 0:40distance in the game at this point.
- 0:42Now they've got they cannot let the ball die inbound.
- 0:45Look at this. This is just spectacular.
- 0:58These people are losing their mind.
- 1:03This is beautiful. Virginia Tech has one defender
- 1:14waiting back at the 15 yard line.
- 1:27Harris frozen underneath, caught by Miller trying to stay alive.
- 1:34The clock is in zero and Miller is down.
- 1:37It's over. Alonso.
- 1:42Tweety made the tackle in Virginia Tech wins.
- 2:29I'll tell you what, if you like college football and you got to
- 2:34watch this whole game, what else could you conceivably ask for?
- 2:40It's one of the greatest games I ever saw.
- 2:43Frank Beamer has joined us. Frank, just your typical
- 2:47Saturday afternoon at Lane State.
- 2:50And welcome back to the Boundary Corner podcast, a part of the
- 2:54College Couple network along with my partners, Brian Siegler,
- 2:57Jonathan Talley and Shelton Moss.
- 2:59I am Curtis Wilson and we are brought to you by Doctor Jeremy
- 3:03Counts down at the Counts Family Pharmacy, your friendly
- 3:07neighborhood pharmacy, three O 1 S Main St. in Blacksburg.
- 3:10And y'all, we kicked it off right there with one of the most
- 3:14unbelievable calls in college football, in my opinion, in the
- 3:17last 20 years in honor of Mike Patrick, who passed away
- 3:20yesterday because hey, Mike Patrick called so many Tech
- 3:25games throughout the years, first of all.
- 3:29But when that game happened and literally for some reason Al
- 3:34Golden decided to call a timeout, Mike delivered maybe
- 3:40one of the best lines ever. And I don't know what to say.
- 3:46I'll definitely miss him because to me, he was a voice of college
- 3:49football, voice of the Hokies, voice of the College World
- 3:51Series for years. And you know, take takes me back
- 3:54to a happier time as far as being a Hokie fan was.
- 3:58Let's let's, let's run it back even further for some of our old
- 4:00heads. Him and Joe Thais are back on
- 4:03Sunday Night Football. Yeah, I mean that that was my
- 4:07introduction to Mike Patrick. And then obviously you're
- 4:10calling all those games for the Hokies, especially when we were
- 4:15winning some football games that'll have had a much better
- 4:17clip than we are now. So rest in peace of that man.
- 4:22Definitely a legend in the booth.
- 4:26Definitely a legend man. Like I say, RRP definitely don't
- 4:34want to over shadow what we're talking about because that's
- 4:36very serious. But when I watch that clip, you
- 4:40know what I'm saying? And I see him like that's that's
- 4:43college football, that's Virginia Tech football, you
- 4:45know, like that's just electric. That's what you see.
- 4:50That's not what our dumb ass fans talk about when we talk
- 4:54about that fucking song. It's not the song, man.
- 4:58It's the the noise, it's the people, it's the atmosphere,
- 5:03it's everything that Hokey Nation makes it.
- 5:06Nothing wrong with the song. The song's good.
- 5:08I don't hate the song, but that electric atmosphere is what
- 5:14Hokey Nation is. And that's what people like
- 5:17myself have grown to love, man. And then like I said, even with
- 5:20him, you know, commentating that game, just I, I remember
- 5:23watching it, I wasn't there. I remember watching it on TV.
- 5:26Like it's just, that's what college football is, man.
- 5:29That's what gets you. That's what gets you going.
- 5:32You know, I and I feel like sometimes put a, a tweet out.
- 5:36I guess they're talking about college football, the video
- 5:39game. I was going to have MSN man in
- 5:42it or they're talking about it being in there for the 26th
- 5:46game. And I'm like, I don't care who's
- 5:50blocking on our team this year. That's what I want to know.
- 5:55Shelton, can I ask real quick, were you at that game back in 11
- 5:59Miami? No, I was not the game.
- 6:01So that was before I was really like a AVT fanatic.
- 6:05Were you? Grown back into.
- 6:07Yeah, I was. I was.
- 6:08I was. I was 13.
- 6:09I think so, but I do remember watching that game and that was
- 6:12one of those core even like as a non fan actor, that was one of
- 6:15those core Vt memories. You're kind of just like
- 6:17watching the screen and awe and like, man, this is awesome.
- 6:20Like that's, you know, it's unfortunate we haven't had, you
- 6:23know, memories like that. We're still kind of, you know,
- 6:25reminiscing on stuff that's so far back, but it's kind of it's
- 6:29kind of become more part of like the the lore as time has gone
- 6:32on. Yeah, definitely any any Miami
- 6:35game, man. Like I told people whenever we
- 6:37started talking about who we would play in the future and
- 6:41they was talking about teams that we took away and things
- 6:44like that. Like I said, my first game in
- 6:46Lane Stadium was Virginia Tech versus Miami on a Thursday
- 6:52night. So like Miami's probably that's
- 6:56like that's one of my teams. If we play in Miami, I want to
- 6:59be tuned in to that game. So goes back to this game blue
- 7:03to the TV watching it, you know what I'm saying?
- 7:05They come in weird high ranked team and.
- 7:11I think they were. Were they favored in that game
- 7:13or something? It was, it was weird, like we
- 7:16were getting. Disrespected.
- 7:17Yeah. Yeah, there was definitely
- 7:19something there. Yeah.
- 7:20I think it was like, I know we were like kind of close together
- 7:24in, in record and rank and it was like, all right, well.
- 7:27I know Harris was getting a lot of hype and stuff, right?
- 7:29Yeah, around that time. He always got hyped.
- 7:31We always shut his ass up too. Yeah.
- 7:34So yeah, man, I just, I love the Virginia Tech Miami rivalry.
- 7:39I'm calling it a rivalry. If y'all don't like it, it is
- 7:41Kick rocks. It's a rock.
- 7:44I love that rivalry, man. So listening to that starting to
- 7:48show with that takes me back to happier times.
- 7:51I'm still mad, but that takes me to happier times.
- 7:54There we go. All righty so.
- 7:57Everybody the The theme for this episode is Tally is the old man
- 8:01yelling at the cloud so. Get all the lawn get off of.
- 8:05It get off get off but along with tally yelling at the lawn
- 8:10Shelton who I'm not Sheldon you had been in my Sheldon's been
- 8:14working his ass off for pretty much the last three months.
- 8:17He's back tonight. I like what Robbie said The
- 8:19gang's back together tonight. We are going to go over spring
- 8:23ball real quick. The spring game, our
- 8:25observations from it with Brian being there and a couple other
- 8:30folks and trying to watch a little pieces of the spring game
- 8:33and read on things. And obviously we thought about
- 8:36doing one last week, but last week was hell for all of us.
- 8:39Tally was finishing up baseball. I had multiple games in the
- 8:42middle of the week. Brian had multiple things.
- 8:44Shelton's always working in the middle of the week.
- 8:46So the other thing we mentioned was wait a second y'all, the
- 8:52transfer portal opens up so we can come up here and talk about
- 8:556 players like so and so looked really good in the portal the
- 8:59next day. So that's another reason we got
- 9:01off. But we are going to hit it up
- 9:02tonight. Talk a little bit about the
- 9:04spring game this year. Finally, finally, finally we got
- 9:07the version I wanted, Brian. We got offense versus defense,
- 9:11which I have been screaming about for years and we got it
- 9:15and it was a better game because you saw ones versus ones even
- 9:19though they weren't a lot of ones on the offensive side of
- 9:21the ball. We'll talk about that in a
- 9:22little while. But Brian, just from being that
- 9:26in person because it wasn't a game, but did you like that or
- 9:31was it a little not enough people there to do it this year?
- 9:35Do you remember it, Brad? I do remember it.
- 9:38It's it's a cloudy memory, but I, I do remember it.
- 9:42It, you know what, I like the format better, but without your
- 9:47two best quarterbacks, it kind of dulled what the high end of
- 9:52that would look like. Because I don't think we saw,
- 9:57even with a limited and a vanilla playbook, as many passes
- 10:01or as a consistent passing game as we would have gotten if you
- 10:04would have had drones and pop Watson out there.
- 10:07So I feel like we were kind of that kind of took away from the
- 10:13full impact of that. And and, you know, just as far
- 10:16as the atmosphere in general, I mean, I, I think, you know, a
- 10:19lot of the fan base is feeling a little bit like tally right now.
- 10:22So there there wasn't as many people out there, at least not
- 10:25as many people that were willing to sit in 40° weather and watch
- 10:28the Hokies play an exhibition game.
- 10:30So the the vibes were a little little down this year, still
- 10:35good, but not not quite where they had been, you know, last
- 10:38last two to three years. But I think, like I said, I
- 10:42think the format was good, but I think without your quarterbacks,
- 10:44you kind of lost a little bit of the luster there.
- 10:48Yeah, without a doubt because obviously, well, first of all,
- 10:53we've said it in the past and some people get pissed off Tally
- 10:56in in Shelton, right? Some people are like, well, so
- 10:59and so is not playing. Why is he not playing?
- 11:01And we've screamed on this show like why do you want to go get
- 11:04him hurt during the spring game? The season ain't till September,
- 11:08so when they said that, like you switch your hands up and it's
- 11:12like this sucks. I'd love to see him play, but we
- 11:15get it right. Yeah, definitely.
- 11:18I I don't know man, like so I guess most chat mostly I'll go
- 11:22to the spring game, right. Put in the chat.
- 11:24If you go to the spring game, most of if you have been like
- 11:27most people, you don't go to the spring game really for the game.
- 11:31I mean, it's cool. You want to see some cool stuff
- 11:34happen, but if you haven't been, I mean you going, you're going
- 11:39for the for the vibes. It's a party, you know what I'm
- 11:43saying? It's pre.
- 11:43We we've been we've done the pregame show.
- 11:46You know what I'm saying? You it's everybody's there.
- 11:49It's like homecoming everybody. You you're meeting everybody.
- 11:53You get to eat with a couple of you guys.
- 11:57Did we first meet at the did I did we finally meet face to face
- 12:01at the spring game? Brian is that spring?
- 12:03It was spring game. See, it's like been knowing
- 12:06Brian for it feels like a decade at least.
- 12:09Like I thought he was. He could have been a Craigslist
- 12:12killer. I don't know.
- 12:13He could have been fake. And I've been talking to this
- 12:16guy and zooming him for 10 years.
- 12:19But the spring game is what actually brought us together.
- 12:23So the spring game is more than just the game now.
- 12:30This year's game vibes are going to be a little bit down just
- 12:33because of last season, things like that.
- 12:37But like Brian said, I mean, it was cold out there.
- 12:39I was saying it was just a bad day to have a spring game to get
- 12:44everybody in town. So that's just, I think it's.
- 12:46Going to end up being the coldest day in.
- 12:49April it is. So it's been warm ever since.
- 12:52It was warm the week before when me and Brian were on the cruise
- 12:55y'all were getting. It was hot up here, wasn't it,
- 12:57Shelton like the the, the last, the last few days of March, it
- 13:00was like when we pulled back into Norfolk, it was 88°.
- 13:03It was warm so. She she was cooking.
- 13:07But let's go to it. Let's get to it.
- 13:09Defense dominates 3721. We I was going to talk about
- 13:13like each line what what a quarterback Karen was out, Pop
- 13:17didn't play. The only guy who got a lot of
- 13:19reps is now in the portal. And so the only thing you can
- 13:22maybe take from it is Keldon Ryan and AJ Brandt are big,
- 13:29athletic looking dudes. Oh, there you go.
- 13:32Well, Brian will be at that. I'll be back at it.
- 13:36I'll be back at it. Holy shit.
- 13:39Me, my wife, my son will be there on on May 7th, so we're
- 13:43ready. But though about the only thing
- 13:45we can take with this from the quarterback room is those two
- 13:49guys look athletically as advertised.
- 13:53I mean that that's it. Can can we get anything else
- 13:56from the quarterback room except their their their potential
- 14:00floors and ceilings were higher than Davi Balfour.
- 14:02That's why he's in the portal. I mean, that's basically what I
- 14:07took away from it. You know, Davi definitely looked
- 14:10the most polished from a passing standpoint.
- 14:13Obviously wasn't Rattle wasn't was a little more composed.
- 14:17But I think when he's when you look at the athleticism and then
- 14:21you know, you look at the the size of brand combined with that
- 14:24athleticism, you you definitely impressed.
- 14:27And I think that they're looking long term at at those two guys
- 14:31being who they're going to lean on from a long term perspective
- 14:36at the quarterback spot. Yeah.
- 14:39I mean, in in today's world, it's like if you aren't going to
- 14:44get on the field, you get in the portal.
- 14:46You know what I'm saying? I mean, that's just what college
- 14:49football is. So especially at the quarterback
- 14:54position, you see somebody that comes in and you hear, you can
- 14:57see, I mean, if you've been in any sports, somebody's got it,
- 15:01they got it. If they've already started
- 15:03overtaking you and you really want to get on the field or you
- 15:06really want to be somewhere where you can make a difference.
- 15:09I mean, there's nothing wrong with hitting the portal, man.
- 15:12I the portal is what it is. I know it needs some tweaking,
- 15:15but for kids that need to get on the field and, you know, need to
- 15:20try to find a better situation for better situation for them,
- 15:24like I'm cool with it. So no love lost for me, for
- 15:27anybody who who decides to do something for the future.
- 15:32Except Tennessee's quarterback, but we'll talk about that later.
- 15:34We will talk about that later. There's.
- 15:37There's just, no, I mean, there's one, there's one
- 15:39quarterback in the field at a time.
- 15:41And I think, you know, it's a position where you, you want to,
- 15:44you know, stack some bodies, but once you find your guy, you're
- 15:46going to come ride with him. Obviously that's Chiron, so you
- 15:50know my man out. And there he goes.
- 15:52Well, the funny piece is we're sitting here, we talk about AJ
- 15:55and Keldon and it's probably, I'm going to guess it's probably
- 15:58going to be this time next year that in all likelihood, one of
- 16:02them will probably go to the portal unless they unless
- 16:06somebody jumps way up. And, and I mean, that's just
- 16:09what it is nowadays. But so that's done quarterback.
- 16:12We know who the top two guys are.
- 16:14We didn't get to see them, unfortunately, or we didn't get
- 16:17to see them. We, we got to hear some comments
- 16:18on how they looked and doing a few things, but we got to hold
- 16:21that to ourselves. Let's go to the offensive line
- 16:25because I think every single person, not only in this
- 16:28podcast, but probably I would say 75 to 80% of Hokie Nation
- 16:33agrees. If we don't improve there, it'll
- 16:36make a hill of beans a hill of shit.
- 16:38If Kyron plays great, if we can run the ball like crazy with a
- 16:41great running back wide received, make unbelievable
- 16:44catches because the offensive line was below par last year and
- 16:48this year's got to be better. Brian, I know you told me
- 16:53starting 5. Johnny Garrett at left tackle,
- 16:55Lake Ganimet left guard, Kyle Altooner snapping center,
- 17:00Ontavius Cunningham finally got to play with the ones at right
- 17:05guard, and then obviously Thomas of Tomas Remack at right tackle.
- 17:12OK, just straight up, I want to ask before I get to Brian
- 17:16Shelton and Tally. Y'all look at these guys on the
- 17:19line. Do you automatically feel a
- 17:20little bit better than last year?
- 17:21Same or worse? Sheldon, you want to go or you
- 17:25want me to go? You go.
- 17:28So at the spring game last year, we did see Montavis Cunningham
- 17:33get in the game, right? We did.
- 17:35Was it a long screen or something?
- 17:37I've seen something happen with him run down field and make a A
- 17:41block. At his size, that one play was
- 17:45better than anything that two of our starters did through the
- 17:48whole year. So the fact that he couldn't get
- 17:51on the field on a bad offensive line, something wasn't right.
- 17:56You know, I just didn't understand it.
- 17:58So I think it was a little bit of a user error on the coach's
- 18:02part. So I didn't feel like anything
- 18:05we did was going to work. And, you know, Long story short,
- 18:08those coaches are gone now. So, yeah, the people that we
- 18:12have now, I feel it like it's going to be a upgrade at the
- 18:16line, even if it's a slight upgrade.
- 18:19I just feel like that we will get some better play or we'll
- 18:23move on to somebody else if we don't get better play, which is
- 18:28what I don't feel we did last year.
- 18:30Everybody knows this. We don't want to sound like a
- 18:32broken record, but somebody messes up and sacks his own
- 18:35quarterback. He stays in the game.
- 18:36It's fucking dumb. So my opinion, think we'll be
- 18:40better there just for that. And I, I know the coaching is
- 18:43better. Like I don't have to go into a
- 18:46whole bunch of extra videos and talking and things like that.
- 18:51That coach is better than the coach we had because of what
- 18:54he's done. That's it.
- 18:57Sheldon. Yeah.
- 18:59I mean, I think, I think Remek alone kind of makes them better.
- 19:02And obviously with the coaching too, like I just, I mean, I as
- 19:08as I've sort of reflected on last year, I think Needless to
- 19:12say, we were not getting the most out of our potential under
- 19:17Matt Moore's predecessor, to say the least.
- 19:20So I think, you know, but that you got some young guys come in
- 19:22this year. So it's like I, I think you're
- 19:24muted curse, by the way. I think it'll be a situation
- 19:28where they start off, you know, kind of slow and sort of figure
- 19:31out, you know, just kind of what you know, how they how they play
- 19:35together. And there'll be some growing
- 19:37pains. But I think by the end of the
- 19:38year, hopefully with good coaching, they'll kind of gel
- 19:41together. But it's, it's going to take
- 19:42some time just with with how much, how much you there is
- 19:44there. And again, that's what happens
- 19:45when you ignore online recruiting for two years, which
- 19:48is a conversation for another day.
- 19:49But that's, that's what happened.
- 19:50So we're stuck with it. Brian, you, you were, you were
- 19:54there obviously taking a little mental notes, obviously having
- 19:57people talk with give me, give me a couple guys what you saw,
- 20:01what you like from each. Yeah, I was taking mental notes
- 20:03during the game. That's you were taking.
- 20:07No, I mean, so looking at the game, looking back at the game,
- 20:12you know, you got Johnny G, you got Ganem, you got Altoon or you
- 20:15got Cunningham, you got Remac. I mean, Remac held a pretty good
- 20:19in Pass Pro. You know, looking looking back
- 20:21at the tape looked pretty good in the run game.
- 20:26Gannon was still kind of up and down.
- 20:28I like some of what I saw. Had a couple whiffs that you
- 20:32know, they're going to happen, but I'd like to see him clean
- 20:36that up absolutely between now and fall.
- 20:39Altoona lost control on a couple combo blocks, but still held up
- 20:43pretty well across the board, especially in Pass Pro.
- 20:45I like him better in Pass Pro than what we had last year.
- 20:49We'll see if he's, you know, got that more, more mentality in the
- 20:54in the trenches in the run. But I mean, he held up a little
- 20:56bit better in pass Pro than the Moors did last year.
- 21:00I'm interested to see how Johnny Garrett holds up and left.
- 21:05I think he did a pretty good job in the spring game, but I don't
- 21:08think there was a ton of interesting stuff thrown at him
- 21:13where where he may have had to make some decisions or there
- 21:16needed to be some communication from the center or anything like
- 21:18that. So I, I think it's still a wait
- 21:22and see. I'm cautiously optimistic on the
- 21:25offensive line, especially compared to last year.
- 21:28I think this is a group that from a talent standpoint is
- 21:32better than what we had last year.
- 21:33I just don't think that there's any single player on this line
- 21:38as good as Xavier Chaplin. And that's my only concern
- 21:41really at this point. I got you all right.
- 21:44Who was the second group real quick?
- 21:47So we saw Lynch, Nitta, Tommy Ricard, Bob Schick and Lucas
- 21:55Austin in that second. Group so and that leads into
- 21:59this so the second group two of them are already in the portal
- 22:03along with Webb Davidson, whose name you didn't see and I think
- 22:07that says some Brian, we were talking.
- 22:09You said you don't believe you ever recall seeing Brody
- 22:12Meadows. So again, I'm going to tell
- 22:15everybody who's hurt or nicked up.
- 22:18So but if you're telling me this is just like the way I feel
- 22:24about it. If you're telling me they have
- 22:27told Bob Schick to kick rocks with the guy who has played as
- 22:32much as he has over the last two years, then to me that's like a
- 22:37new leaf turning over right? Because you know he can he's
- 22:41solid in pass not the best in run, but he's a good body out
- 22:43there when you need one. If you're telling me they, like
- 22:46you need to go on you, you need to go on elsewhere, then that
- 22:51says a lot to me. Also, Caleb Netta, who snapped
- 22:54the balls in the bowl game, is gone.
- 22:57It tells me Tommy Ricardo is probably looking a lot better
- 23:00this time, too. Yeah, I.
- 23:02Think he was definitely nicked up at the bowl games.
- 23:05I think some of that was an emergency situation and some of
- 23:08that may have just been, you know, the, the, the current
- 23:13situation we're dealing with and wanted to see what other guys
- 23:15can do in, in, in that bowl game.
- 23:17I don't know exactly what they were thinking for that but but.
- 23:21All in all, we're we're tally Sheldon.
- 23:24Were either of y'all like shocked, especially with shit
- 23:29when y'all when I sent y'all that tweet yesterday, it's like
- 23:32Bob chicks in the portal where you you were shocked?
- 23:35No, y'all weren't shocked. OK.
- 23:36Nope, I was happy. Oh well.
- 23:39Get them out of here. Get out of here.
- 23:41Get on out of here. See, this is my thing.
- 23:44If you're going to be sorry, at least be sorry with young guys.
- 23:47But I don't want to see old guys doing the same thing.
- 23:50Like if you were my age and you still making the same mistake,
- 23:55you ain't going to take no old dog.
- 23:56New tricks. Get the fuck on.
- 23:58Get out. Like if you tell me you got a
- 24:00line full of freshmen or freshmen and sophomore, they're
- 24:03making a mistake and missing blocks.
- 24:06Hey man, we might have to live with that.
- 24:07That's growing pains. So that's like, I'm OK with
- 24:10that. Last year, 20.
- 24:11Seven years old, still missing the combo block.
- 24:14You ain't gonna ever make the combo block.
- 24:16You're never going to get the combo block if you're missing it
- 24:18at 2625. Like man, get a job.
- 24:24Get. Your LinkedIn page, right?
- 24:27Get that cover like get that cover letter going.
- 24:28Get. That get that cover letter going
- 24:31man, call you somebody. Chat your CV baby.
- 24:34Man, ChatGPT it get you a resume, get your resume right so
- 24:38you can and most of these I'm making jokes, but most of these
- 24:41guys when they're that old, especially if you've been in
- 24:43Virginia Tech, like you probably got a good ass degree man, go
- 24:47make some money. At this point, he's got at least
- 24:49two I. Know a lot of people in Alabama
- 24:52that's got this walking around and driving around with Virginia
- 24:57Tech tags that I know don't watch a lick of football because
- 25:00they're Virginia Tech grads and they are engineers and they are
- 25:04their grass probably looks perfect because they go out
- 25:06there and cut it with like freaking scissors and stuff like
- 25:09that. And they're probably rich
- 25:11because they make so much money and with their engineering
- 25:14degree, go make you some money, man.
- 25:17You ain't going to be good at football.
- 25:18Every now and then they'll call you and say, hey, we need you to
- 25:21come back and lead the cheer going into the fourth quarter.
- 25:25Come do that. Let's go, Hokies, get the fuck
- 25:28off the field. That's the only time you need to
- 25:30be on the field. You don't ever need to put a
- 25:31helmet on. So no disrespect to the people
- 25:35who left. Hey, what?
- 25:36We, we, we got a tally deep cut here from Jim.
- 25:38I I like this. We got a tally deep cut, you
- 25:41know. Oh, yeah.
- 25:41You know this about the Internet.
- 25:42Man, I see that. Man.
- 25:44My internet's been. You know what?
- 25:45My internet's been doing better, too.
- 25:47I'm happy. We know it has.
- 25:48We've lost you. I was gonna say I don't think
- 25:50y'all lost me since I went to Google Fiber.
- 25:52Man, I'm giving Google Fiber a shout out.
- 25:55If y'all are with AT&T, ditch them and go to Google Fiber.
- 26:01Google Fiber, man, they, they put me, they put me two routers
- 26:04in here. Extender, whatever you call it,
- 26:07man. We've been we've been good to
- 26:08go. Not a sponsor but y'all could
- 26:11be. If you know Google, give us a,
- 26:12give us a. Call.
- 26:13Come on man, give us the call. Well, let's keep rolling and got
- 26:18a off the offensive line a little bit, but staying with it.
- 26:21This is like the transition point, Brian.
- 26:23We know and we talked about it a couple times over the last few
- 26:27months about Matt Moore's scheme.
- 26:28It's some outside, it's his own kind of going on the outside.
- 26:31It's gap inside. Did you see that and did you
- 26:36like what it did on the inside? Yeah.
- 26:39You know, what they're doing is they're mixing up a lot of that
- 26:42kind of split zone with with the counter.
- 26:46So you got the H back in there and sometimes they're going
- 26:48across, sometimes they're they're wall and they're kicking
- 26:51back out away from the run. So there's a lot of different
- 26:54things that they're doing with that that tight end, that H back
- 26:59that gives them a lot of opportunities both inside and
- 27:03outside. But we're going to see a lot
- 27:05more pulling in this system inside.
- 27:08I mean, you know, power and variations of power are going to
- 27:10be kind of the bread and butter of the insider run for this
- 27:14team. Y'all know what I did, man, for
- 27:19like 15 minutes and didn't mean to do it.
- 27:22I was going through my day at work, you know, YouTube just so
- 27:27happened pops up. I pull up a video of Steven
- 27:31People's highlights from whatever year that was. 2018
- 27:36maybe. Sounds right.
- 27:38Yeah. Our line was like Steven Peebles
- 27:41was going to get you like 5 yards like he wasn't Tooting or
- 27:44nothing like that. But I was watching the online
- 27:47during that and it's on YouTube. I think it was like a 10 or 12
- 27:51minute highlight video of Steven Peebles shot at the Steven
- 27:55Peebles hard, hard nosed football player.
- 27:58But the offensive line getting like four and five yards, just
- 28:04that, you know, punching the ball in and stuff.
- 28:06I'm like, man, what has this been?
- 28:08We ain't even got a line to do this.
- 28:09And this wasn't even good, you know what I'm saying?
- 28:11Like that wasn't even like a one of the best lines.
- 28:14But at the same time, just, you just look at the physicality and
- 28:19things like that. It's much different than what
- 28:21we've seen. So I'm I'm I'm very interested
- 28:25and excited to see what more can do and what he brings to the
- 28:29table, because like I said, I mean, he's a he's a proven
- 28:31coach. Like I'm going to be mad no
- 28:33matter what just because that's what I want to be right now
- 28:35until I see something. But I do know that I will say
- 28:40the coaching staff that we have, I feel like is better at just
- 28:45about every facet than we were last year probably.
- 28:50But this is probably Brent Prize best coaching staff in my mind.
- 28:55So, you know, as a whole. So I'm, I'm interested man.
- 29:02It is and and you mentioned about the run game.
- 29:05I mean, again, this is vanilla and take credit what you will,
- 29:08but we did average a little over four and a half, 4.7 to carry
- 29:12the kid from Coastal ran good. Bennett ran best.
- 29:16Yeah, Braden Bennett, like 75 yards on 11 carries.
- 29:23But again, it's so weird because you know he's probably not going
- 29:26to get that many carries in the game.
- 29:28Right. No and.
- 29:30It's probably going to be Stewart and probably would have
- 29:32a little bit of Hawkins and Bennett.
- 29:35It's going to be probably all over the place.
- 29:37So you'll. Mix, you'll mix in Coney and
- 29:40Mason behind him, but I mean it's going to mostly be Stewart
- 29:43and. Hawkins Yeah.
- 29:45So again, we don't know. We didn't see effectively what
- 29:50we probably wanted to see from the run game because without
- 29:55Kyron, without Pop would have in that element of the quarterback
- 29:58run, which we know is going to happen.
- 30:00You don't know what it's going to do.
- 30:01And we know the defense in some ways was playing vanilla, and
- 30:04we'll talk about that in a little while.
- 30:05But what did kind of pop was you can always see the difference
- 30:11between me watching like film and with somebody or things like
- 30:17that, with somebody who knows what's going on is wide
- 30:19receivers are easy to watch. You can see, oh, these are the
- 30:22routes they're running. Oh, you know, he just went, you
- 30:24know, that was a double post route with a little drag behind
- 30:27it or a little in routed behind it.
- 30:30And I think Brian, you know, obviously the big play was Cam
- 30:35Selden for maiden Green Kim Selden showing his athleticism,
- 30:38showing his speed downfield. But in your eyes, who else
- 30:45popped in that and was there anything as you were watching me
- 30:48and probably very vanilla offense that you kind of like
- 30:51like, oh, I like that, I like that.
- 30:53Let me if if we can do things like that with the full core,
- 30:57we're going we're going to probably move the ball some this
- 31:00year. Yeah, but I both greens look
- 31:02pretty solid, even though they didn't necessarily get a ton of
- 31:05action. You're looking at how they were
- 31:09doing like blocking. I was impressed with Donovan
- 31:11Green outside. He did, he did pretty well with
- 31:14the with the blocking. So I mean, we saw a lot of that.
- 31:16We got to evaluate that a little bit.
- 31:20We saw Selden on the wheel with the double pass from Aiden
- 31:23Green. You know, that was that was the
- 31:25home run play. Saw Wiggins out there.
- 31:28He looked pretty good, pretty solid.
- 31:30I mean, he, I know he, he kind of bobbled that, that diving
- 31:34catch that ended up in the pick 6.
- 31:37But I thought he, I mean, he made a, he made a really good
- 31:40dive to try to get that. That was a pretty poorly thrown
- 31:42ball that, you know, was almost a catch there, unfortunately,
- 31:45and went the other way. Yeah, route concepts.
- 31:48We saw a lot of, you know, drags, shallow ends, hitches,
- 31:55and then you're going to take some deeper shots off of that.
- 31:57So it's going to be a lot of stuff kind of in that, you know,
- 32:013 to 7 yard range with the catch.
- 32:04And the thing that I saw a lot is that there were a lot of
- 32:08those that were open that the quarterback didn't get to for
- 32:14one reason or another. And some of it was happy feet,
- 32:17some of it was just not getting through progressions quickly
- 32:21enough. So, yeah, there was a lot of
- 32:23opportunities and a lot of yards that were left on the field in
- 32:27the passing game that you know, if if you've got a pop out
- 32:30there, if you've got a Kyron out there, you might end up seeing a
- 32:35little bit more on the stat sheet than you saw from this
- 32:37wide receiver group. Definitely.
- 32:40Only a couple passes behind the line of scrimmage.
- 32:42Josh, don't worry. Don't worry.
- 32:43Not too many, unfortunately. One of them got sniffed out real
- 32:46quick by Knowledge Harold, who we'll talk about in a little
- 32:49bit. He had, he had himself a pretty
- 32:50good game. Yeah, I heard.
- 32:52And so just like Brian was saying, so pretty much the two
- 32:55quarterbacks we had in the game for the most part, right, were
- 33:00supposed to be seniors in high school.
- 33:02So Brandon and and Ryan is supposed to be in high school,
- 33:06right? Yeah, for about 2/3 of the game
- 33:08that that's the guys that were in there.
- 33:10So I mean, you know, you're going to get what you're going
- 33:13to get there, but and we need our guys to be healthy moving in
- 33:16if we want to make some noise moving into the next year.
- 33:21But Ryan got to hit the nail on the head.
- 33:24Like you said, if you had the top two guys, you may have got
- 33:28to see a little bit more out of the, you know, wide receiver
- 33:31room. And the wide receiver room's
- 33:33been banged up as well. You know, you got some of the
- 33:35wide receivers that aren't there as well right now.
- 33:37So I'm interested just to see, you know, what route they go.
- 33:43How are they used to Kahi, you know, things like that cheer.
- 33:47You know, I, I, I'm very interested to see what they do
- 33:50with that room and who is going to step up to, you know, be that
- 33:55third guy or that fourth guy and stuff like that.
- 33:58And I did, I didn't watch much of the game.
- 34:01I haven't watched much of it because like I said it, it, it
- 34:03doesn't really matter to me right now.
- 34:05And I don't want to just be on that critiquing because I'm mad.
- 34:08But I did see the, you know, and, and hear about and see the
- 34:13the pick that Wiggins bobbled. And for him being a young player
- 34:21man, it it it's going to be so good when he can make those
- 34:24plays because that's going to be taking the next step for him.
- 34:26You know what I'm saying? Like he's going to be fighting
- 34:28to get playing time, going to be fighting to get on the field.
- 34:32So when he gets to the level where he can pull those 5050
- 34:37balls in, it's going to help the team, but also going to help
- 34:40him. So it's interested just to see,
- 34:43you know, what happens moving forward through the summer,
- 34:46who's going to step up? Because you know, it always
- 34:48happens. Somebody's going to stay the
- 34:49same, somebody's going to step up, somebody's going to fall
- 34:52off, somebody's going to get injured.
- 34:53Don't want them to be injured, but I'm interested to see kind
- 34:57of how those kids and how that room progresses.
- 35:00All right, let me Sheldon's looking up something real quick.
- 35:04Hopefully you can find the next couple minutes.
- 35:06But I want to ask you all this because last year, do you all
- 35:09know who our leading receiver was?
- 35:13Mason, Who was it? Was it Jay Lane?
- 35:15Jaylen Lane. The only catches he had.
- 35:18Probably 35. 39 So here's my question for y'all is with this
- 35:26new offense coming in, how many the the leading receiver this
- 35:33year will have how many receptions?
- 35:34Because I'm, I'm gonna throw it back.
- 35:35Don't look at Auburn because to Tally's point, that won't fill
- 35:39up Montgomery's offense at Auburn.
- 35:40He got hijacked last time he coached A collegiate football
- 35:44team. His top three guys were as
- 35:47follows. 7653 and 37 and it was too tight at 37.
- 35:53So y'all think about it real quick.
- 35:55I'll, I'll, I'll I'll I'm gonna let Sheldon go last.
- 35:58He actually Sheldon go first. How many receptions will the
- 36:01leading wide receiver have this year?
- 36:0635 he's. Gonna go 35.
- 36:08He's going. He's staying.
- 36:08Low tally. I'd probably say 47.
- 36:15Let's go with 52. That's a.
- 36:17That's a nice round. Number.
- 36:18Oh, that's your favorite number? Anybody see?
- 36:21I'm, I'm leaning with Brian here because if you look at the
- 36:23offenses here and a it's balanced.
- 36:26That's the first thing everybody says.
- 36:28He's a past heavy guy. No, he's not.
- 36:30Most of the time about 400 past attempts, about 400 rush
- 36:33attempts. So it's pretty balanced.
- 36:36And I think again, from what Brian's describing, think about
- 36:39some of those easy underneath routes, drag routes, shallow
- 36:42ends, you'll see him where he'll have hookup guys out in the
- 36:44flats. I'm tempted to say maybe plus
- 36:4852, Brown, maybe almost 60. Because if you think a guy like
- 36:52Donovan Green, who's played for like 14 years in collegiate
- 36:57football, which is pretty impressive that he's been able
- 36:59to do that, he's somebody said he needs to shave the mustache.
- 37:04Somebody make Ashley and shave the mustache.
- 37:06I'm going to go pit him because that mustache is on point.
- 37:09In my opinion. It is That thing is
- 37:12distinguished. It looks beautiful.
- 37:15Like keep, keep the mustache. But if you think somebody like a
- 37:18Donovan Green who's been at weight for a few years and you
- 37:22know his skill set and then you start thinking about well,
- 37:24Chand, anything about Selden and you think about all these guys.
- 37:29It's like, I think there is someone, if we run the offense
- 37:36that we should run. If we were on the offense that
- 37:39we should run, then I think somebody could wind up with
- 37:45close to 60. That's just my opinion, like
- 37:49understanding it. And I kind of again, I look at
- 37:51Donovan Green who is down in wakes offense.
- 37:56I think he might be the guy, but it I just feel like it there is
- 38:00going to be someone that does something crazy with receptions
- 38:03next year. Yeah, I feel like, I feel like
- 38:06just me. And again, man, I promise you,
- 38:11I'm not like wishing anything on nobody but somebody who's been
- 38:14injured. It's kind of they're injury
- 38:17prone. I don't want to use that word,
- 38:18but like I can only judge the future by the past for the most
- 38:21part. So you've been getting injured
- 38:23most of the time. Like I don't want to say this is
- 38:26going to be your year. You're not going to get injured.
- 38:28I just got to have in my head that what will we do if this
- 38:32person isn't able to finish the season or this person has to
- 38:35miss some games? So in my opinion, the person, if
- 38:39I'm going to think about who would be the leading receiver,
- 38:42it's got to be Aiden Green. You know, it's got to be Aiden
- 38:44Green. He's got to be the guy.
- 38:46He's going to be the most versatile.
- 38:47He's going to be the one who has taken the most snaps at Virginia
- 38:53Tech. It's probably going to be the
- 38:54one the coaches rely on most, even though I know he did get
- 38:57new, you know, new coaching, but the head coach is still the
- 39:01same. So Aiden Green is probably going
- 39:04to be the guy that they rely on the most unless somebody just
- 39:07gets open and we're able to get them the ball, you know, all
- 39:11comes down the offensive line. We know all that.
- 39:13But I can say you have some guys that you can use different ways
- 39:18this year. I just hope they use them right.
- 39:20Because if you use a guy like Brody Adams, when he come back,
- 39:26Keelan Adams, don't kill me. Keelan Adams.
- 39:31Keelan Adams, when he comes back, right, I see it watching
- 39:36him in the bowl game when he took that, you know, when he
- 39:39took that pass, it's like he or that end of round, it's like
- 39:43he's faster than that. Like I've seen him run a lot of
- 39:46routes and I've seen him run. He's faster than well, I didn't
- 39:48know he was having knee problems.
- 39:50You know, he wasn't 100%. So when you get a kid like that
- 39:55or even Takah Heath, Kah Heath is real, you know, quick twitch,
- 40:00you get him in a little bit of space, he can do some things.
- 40:03So those are going to be some guys that may eat up some, you
- 40:08know, 10 yard or 10:10 passes around the around the line of
- 40:15scrimmage. But also you got to have
- 40:17somebody who can take the top off.
- 40:19So who did we use to take the top off last year?
- 40:22Any of y'all? Felton.
- 40:25Felton and yeah, Felton. So in in my opinion, nothing
- 40:31wrong with Felton, but Felton isn't even your fastest guy.
- 40:34Like that's not your take the top off guy.
- 40:37We never put Jay Lane in the position and again, the
- 40:41quarterback didn't have much time to throw the ball, but Jay
- 40:44Lane's a four two guy. Hey, you just run and let's see
- 40:47if we can throw it to you. We didn't do that a lot.
- 40:50Like even when they were talking about it during the combine, it
- 40:52was like, well, Virginia Tech didn't use them to do this a
- 40:55lot. But he's he's super fast.
- 40:56And again, he was hurt as well. But I'm just hoping with all
- 41:03this rambling, I'm just hoping that the new offensive
- 41:06coordinator comes in and uses the pieces where they need to be
- 41:09used. I'm OK with each guy getting 10
- 41:12catches if they're productive, 10 catches.
- 41:16Put this guy here, let him do what he does.
- 41:18Good. Put this guy here, let him go do
- 41:21what he does. Cam Selton, right.
- 41:24He's a track guy that came from running at or from being a
- 41:28running back. He's probably not going to be
- 41:30the most crisp route runner, but he should be one of the fastest
- 41:34guys on the team. Probably going to put him on a
- 41:37deep ride and see if we can throw him the ball and not try
- 41:40to put him on some complicated this and that.
- 41:43I don't know man, y'all know how I feel about our old offensive
- 41:47coordinator so. We go with that stuff, all
- 41:49right, Sheldon, break it to us. So does Phillip Montgomery
- 41:53offenses. How many?
- 41:54What's the percentages behind the line of scrimmage?
- 41:57So I had to reduce the the number of attempts because they
- 42:01they throw so infrequently behind line of scrimmage.
- 42:04So the last two years at Tulsa where Montgomery had control the
- 42:07offense, Davis Brin was dead last among all all FBS
- 42:12quarterbacks and percentage of throws behind the line.
- 42:14So it's around 5.6% they do not throw behind the line.
- 42:20Davis Davis Brin was our quarterback.
- 42:23He was pretty good. They got injured at the cell end
- 42:26of that 22 seasons, but pretty put up some pretty, you know,
- 42:28big numbers. They pass a lot, but they just
- 42:30don't go behind the line. So it was kind of, yeah, yeah,
- 42:345.6% for for Joshua, Wisconsin. So about one out of every, I
- 42:38guess 20 rows. So which isn't really, I mean.
- 42:42That's a big switch out for what we saw from from T bows, yeah.
- 42:45Yeah, you don't say like and it and it gets to what our friend
- 42:48Chris Coleman was saying, which is like, we don't necessarily
- 42:50know how well Montgomery fits our personnel.
- 42:54So like Kyron, a guy like Kim, you know, at least in 2023, a
- 42:57lot of his his success was predicated on, you know, throws
- 43:00upon line of scrimmage, getting guys in space, using the seal
- 43:03guys using their speed on the perimeter and setting up big
- 43:06plays with blocking. But and they did some of the two
- 43:09last year, not as effectively, but that's that's the way Kyron
- 43:14was used effectively. So I don't know if we're going
- 43:17to how, how that kind of contrast is really going to
- 43:19going to mesh well next year. So that'll be interesting to
- 43:21see. So we, we saw a couple, like
- 43:24looking at the spring game tape, we saw really a couple that you
- 43:27would consider they were either behind the line or designed to
- 43:31be a behind the line of scrimmage plays.
- 43:33That I remember you had kind of a zone RPO that, yeah, you could
- 43:44really kind of drop out to the, the, the HVAC that was coming
- 43:47across got to that split zone RPO.
- 43:52Ultimately they didn't throw it, but that would have been a
- 43:54behind the line of scrimmage opportunity.
- 43:56And then they threw a swing pass.
- 43:58They got ate up by Knowledge Herald.
- 44:00That's the only two plays that I remember in the spring game that
- 44:03were like true behind the line of scrimmage designs.
- 44:07And I think something like that is probably what you're going to
- 44:09see from a behind a lot of scrimmage standpoint.
- 44:11There's not going to be a true scream.
- 44:15Look, you're definitely not going to get any screens to the
- 44:17tight end like we saw a plethora of under Tebow.
- 44:21So expect maybe like, you know, swings and maybe some of that
- 44:27RPO in the split zone kind of really being the, the only, you
- 44:32know, couple that you'll see from time to time.
- 44:34Obviously with the caveat that they might, you know, change it
- 44:37up and add a little additional color to that as as we get
- 44:40further into the playbook. Yeah, and then 111 real quick
- 44:44point, I just I'll put a cap right now.
- 44:46So I looked up for for Kyron Summers last year.
- 44:49We were good throwing behind the line in 2023, but 24 was really
- 44:52bad. We were we were dead last in the
- 44:54FBS and passer rating on throws behind the line.
- 44:56So for Brian, I don't know how much of that was, you know,
- 44:59maybe guys not hitting their blocks.
- 45:01How much of that was, you know, defense is starting to key on
- 45:03those on those plays more because I think we have full
- 45:05full year of film. You can kind of identify that.
- 45:08And so maybe maybe tech was predictable in terms of how they
- 45:11structure the passing game. That could have been the case.
- 45:13So again. Said that.
- 45:15I remember y'all saying that about, I don't say eight games
- 45:18of the season. It's like people.
- 45:21No, I think it was a combination of everybody saying Tebow did
- 45:24not build like you have these plays that are good, you can't
- 45:28keep just going to that. You have to put new stuff in.
- 45:32Or what you just said right there happened, Shelton, where
- 45:34you go from a solidly successful team on passes behind a line of
- 45:39scrimmage to Jesus Christ, we can't get anything done behind
- 45:42the line of scrimmage where last year we we throw a pop pass, we
- 45:45get 15 yards. This year we can't do anything.
- 45:47So. I like screens.
- 45:50I mean, I know Josh doesn't, but I like screens.
- 45:53But I was, I was screamed out. I was screamed out.
- 45:57Well, because it was the same screens all the time, it wasn't
- 46:01variations. Yeah.
- 46:03I mean try to hide them. We just tried it out there.
- 46:08It looked like my son's team was playing.
- 46:11They had him playing quarterback telling him, hey, throw the ball
- 46:14to 72. Hey, throw the ball to 10.
- 46:16I'm like, that ain't no freaking offense.
- 46:19They the other team probably hears you.
- 46:21You know, you're supposed to be a, you're supposed to be a high
- 46:24level college football coach and team.
- 46:29We didn't look like that. I think Shelton hit the nail on
- 46:32the head when he said something about, I don't know how much of
- 46:35it was predicated on passing. I mean on blocking.
- 46:38Let me tell you, all of it was predicated on blocking, which we
- 46:42didn't do good. You know, the people we had
- 46:44blocking wasn't blocking worth the shit at all, ever, ever.
- 46:51We were stepping on the quarterback and guess what?
- 46:55I'm all for a coach changing his system to fit his players.
- 47:01That's what I think a good coach is.
- 47:03Not an Alabama fan. I'm a Nick Saban fan.
- 47:06Nick Saban would change offense or defense to fit his players.
- 47:10Y'all remember when Alabama used to turn around and run the ball
- 47:12like a? 100 * a.
- 47:14Game and then they start getting these quarterbacks that could
- 47:17move and throw and throw on the run and do all this stuff and
- 47:21Alabama fans will steal. I was like, you know what, man,
- 47:24that's a good coach. He hired some people who trained
- 47:27with the times. I want to see that done.
- 47:29And then if your players ain't getting it done, it's OK to sit
- 47:32them down. Hey, buddy, you can't throw the
- 47:35ball. You're a quarterback.
- 47:36Come over here and watch the game with me.
- 47:39You got the best seats in the house.
- 47:41Let's put this kid in and see what he can do.
- 47:43That's what I think should happen, but I'm not the coach.
- 47:46I ain't making millions of dollars.
- 47:48So hoping that's what they do. All righty.
- 47:53So there's a little bit of the offense and what we've seen.
- 47:55Obviously we we got to wait months now, but let's flip over
- 48:00to the defense because the defense had a highly successful
- 48:03day. Because they it won't.
- 48:05Many people who weren't aren't going to be starters that were
- 48:07not there. Like they were full in force.
- 48:10They were running extra vanilla because Brian, I believe you or
- 48:14Robbie mentioned like they mean blitz.
- 48:17Like they didn't even do blitzes, which we know.
- 48:19They had a handful of zone blitzes.
- 48:21That's about all they did. They didn't bring any like heavy
- 48:24pressures on on passing downs or anything like that.
- 48:27Usually if they it was more if they brought pressure, they were
- 48:32essentially trading out who was coming and who wasn't they, but
- 48:35they were still only rushing 4, maybe 5 at the most.
- 48:40So yeah, it was pretty. It was pretty vanilla.
- 48:44True. All right, let's get into it.
- 48:46Let's just talk about obviously everybody's focused on the
- 48:49safeties. Brian, you were there, you saw
- 48:53it in person. You you looked at a little bit
- 48:55of the, the game. What's this, What's this?
- 49:00Who's the who's the best of the all the guys that we brought in?
- 49:04Yeah, looking at that safety group, Christian Ellis has stood
- 49:08out to me as looking the best. He's going to be a ball hawk
- 49:16when when I when I look at him, I saw him.
- 49:18There was one where he jumped around and Davi almost threw it
- 49:24and he he pulled it back, ended up taking a sack and but he was
- 49:28going to be there. He was ready to it was it would
- 49:29have been a pick six. It would have been it would have
- 49:31been a beautiful thing if if Davi would have thrown that one.
- 49:35He looked really good. He was in in in every place he
- 49:38needed to be that I could tell. And he did a good job, as good
- 49:43of a job in coverage as he did in in hell in assisting in the
- 49:47run game. So he's definitely the guy that
- 49:51I think is going to be the most impact player of the new guys on
- 49:53the defense so far as far as we're the safety position is
- 49:56concerned. All right, and then what did it
- 49:59look like what we mixing and matching And you know it's
- 50:03pretty much is this going to be all the new guys with Quinn
- 50:07Reddish that pretty much going to be the room.
- 50:10That's what I'm thinking. I mean, so we, we really saw
- 50:12five guys out there. We saw Ellis and Flowers kind of
- 50:15in Group 1. Koval and Cash were in Group 2.
- 50:19Johnson mixed in there. When Reddish is healthy, he's
- 50:22going to mix in there. Obviously Johnson is no longer
- 50:24in that group. But if that's probably the five
- 50:26that we're looking at, we're looking at Ellis, Flowers,
- 50:28Koval, Cash with, with Reddish kind of mixing in there as well.
- 50:31I don't know whether he'll be in Group one or Group 2 or kind of
- 50:35mixing in with Group 2, but he'll be in that mix as well
- 50:38all. Right now, let's talk about the
- 50:40cover stuff because I know you looked at it and Robbie saw it
- 50:44and we tried a little bit about it.
- 50:46I think the one thing that has me probably excited about the
- 50:49defense is it's a disguise defense.
- 50:54And I remember Robbie messaged me after he saw spring game or
- 50:57messaged me. And you, Brian, he's like, yeah.
- 50:59He's like, they look like they're in Cover 2 shell right
- 51:01here. And the next thing you know,
- 51:04they in Cover 30, they're, oh, they're going to run a single
- 51:07high and the next thing you know, they're in Cover 2.
- 51:10How did that look? Because it looks from the way
- 51:14you described it to me and the way Robbie was describing it,
- 51:17Tally, I know you haven't watched as much, but from you
- 51:20playing it seems like that back end is almost we can show you
- 51:25anything, but we can get to whatever we want to confuse you.
- 51:31Yeah, when I when I was looking at it, it, it was really, I
- 51:35think, I think we're going to call some teams some problems.
- 51:38I think also, you know, with with adding that additional
- 51:42complexity to the coverage, you know, you're at risk that if
- 51:48somebody doesn't get a call or somebody isn't quite where they
- 51:50need to be, you know, you blow a coverage.
- 51:54But what I'm seeing is that there's going to be a lot of
- 51:58opportunities for us to confuse some quarterbacks and I like
- 52:04that there. It looks like it's a very
- 52:07simplistic way of disguising the coverage because it's it's
- 52:13usually just a it's it's kind of a replace situation or either
- 52:17you got a match call and depending on where where things
- 52:20go, you know, one guy can pick up pick up the the wide out and
- 52:23and stay with him there. There was a lot of interesting
- 52:27ways that they mixed in the coverages.
- 52:28I mean, we saw a lot of cover three.
- 52:30You just some cover 2, some cover one.
- 52:32They went to, you know, cover 6 a couple times.
- 52:35But I mean, I think majority, we're going to see two and get 3
- 52:40and then three and get 2. That's kind of going to be the,
- 52:43the bread and butter. But I, I, I think that's going
- 52:47to cause some guys, some problems, especially because we,
- 52:51when you mix in the zone blitz with that, I think that that's
- 52:54going to cause quarterbacks some headaches because they're,
- 52:56they're now having to adjust their brain of where they want
- 52:59to go with the football because the coverage is shifted up.
- 53:01And now they got a pressure coming from here that they
- 53:03didn't see. Josh said.
- 53:06Josh says this what Ellis does. The broken wrist set him back.
- 53:12Somebody broke their wrist. When did he break his wrist?
- 53:16I haven't heard anything about that.
- 53:18Yeah, I ain't known about that. Hey.
- 53:21Drop the link Josh for us if. I mean, I, I don't think it sets
- 53:26him back too much. I mean, usually a wrist.
- 53:28But have you heard about it? I haven't.
- 53:31I haven't either. Usually that's a four to six
- 53:33week recovery, but I don't know. I mean, it might, he might not
- 53:36be in summer workouts the way you want him to, but I think
- 53:40you'll be good to go for the fall.
- 53:42Who said? Who did French say was trash?
- 53:45French said somebody was garbage.
- 53:47Trench hated cash, no. No, no, I don't think.
- 53:50It was, I thought it was flowers.
- 53:51I thought it was flowers. Flowers.
- 53:53Flowers. That's the guy.
- 53:54That's the key from Rice, right? Rice, yeah.
- 53:57What do you look like, Brian? I mean, I thought he looked
- 53:59pretty good. I mean, he did look bad.
- 54:01He's doing a lot, lot of the he's he's playing deeper more
- 54:04often than not. So like when he when he's back
- 54:08in coverage, he's playing deeper or he's matching up in man.
- 54:11French they on your ass Well, I wasn't on your ass buddy.
- 54:16He is going to prove you wrong. Got to pick you up in his locker
- 54:20right now. He taking a.
- 54:22Locker. He snapped the picture.
- 54:24Here in the show, watch the. Podcast.
- 54:28He's like, all right bet. We have a new.
- 54:32Locker room yet it's coming. It's coming.
- 54:35I've heard that for three years though, I think.
- 54:38It's true this year. That's why I was.
- 54:40Asking we we edging the fuck out of this locker room.
- 54:42What are we doing? We keep pulling it back for we
- 54:46keep pulling it back for NIO money.
- 54:48We're going to do it this year. Picture going to be up in that
- 54:50new locker room. Buddy boy there.
- 54:54You go, Brian, you mentioned Harold couple times playing the
- 54:58nickel. We know IBM is the nickel guy
- 55:01too. I mean is is that base do?
- 55:07You think, I mean, we were in nickel pretty much the whole
- 55:10game, which I mean against the spread look, it makes sense.
- 55:16Like you're, you're that's kind of what you expect.
- 55:21You know, we we switched up the front a little bit.
- 55:24Sometimes it was more that true, you know, 24 look, sometimes it
- 55:28was a it was an odd look with a hanger.
- 55:32So it just kind of depended on what they were going.
- 55:36But I mean, the back end was pretty consistent there.
- 55:39Yeah, you had IBM Brown Murray was kind of the first nickel out
- 55:43there. But knowledge Harold was was the
- 55:45number two and I was really impressed with the way he played
- 55:48in the spring game. I ain't been watching it.
- 55:51I know he was going to be a dog. Supposed to be in high school
- 55:54too. Yeah, yeah.
- 55:56I mean, he was out there and he was, he was making some plays.
- 56:00He was where you're supposed to be under control.
- 56:03Didn't look like he was, you know, a guy that was going, you
- 56:07know, overrun a play or anything like that.
- 56:09He he did really well. All right.
- 56:13Obviously the news you mentioned John, Braylon Johnson being on
- 56:17here, Brendan Johnson now in the portal, I mean.
- 56:23It's. In my shock, no, because of
- 56:27everything that happened with the change.
- 56:29But it's also it it's that point to where eventually you got to
- 56:34be able to play, which I think Braylon Johnson is going to be
- 56:36able to play college football somewhere.
- 56:38But I I think no longer somebody think about this.
- 56:44It's like we're, we're not going to just save a spot just because
- 56:48of where you went to high school or who your daddy is or.
- 56:52I I think you can give a show me offer and, and let them get on
- 56:55campus and show what they can do, but you're not going to hold
- 56:57it for four years. There you go.
- 57:01Just because and you know, looking at that, I mean, you
- 57:04know, the thing the concern that we had with Braylon Johnson
- 57:08coming in is that he was kind of a tweener.
- 57:10You know, he's a he's a cornerback that, you know, we
- 57:15essentially had at safety wasn't quite as fast as fleet of foot
- 57:21as you would like to see from from a corner, kind of wasn't as
- 57:25physical and as good doing the things that you have to do with
- 57:29the safety that we wanted to see, especially.
- 57:33I mean, when we look at coming up and making plays in the run
- 57:37game. I mean there, there was a lot of
- 57:39a lot of whiffs from Johnson in that last year.
- 57:43You know, we we saw a couple things that that that went on in
- 57:46the spring game as well. It's just one of those things
- 57:49where at at some point, if you're not moving up the depth
- 57:51chart, you got to make a decision.
- 57:53And and I think, you know, some, some conversations were had that
- 57:55said, hey, you're going to be you're going to be the sixth
- 57:58guy. And it you know, you, you're
- 58:00already, you know, working on your third year in this program.
- 58:04What we looking at here? Said the new locker rooms with
- 58:09wit will be the old locker room with wallpapered in Found your
- 58:13corner quotes. I hope so.
- 58:15Hey, I, I. Hope I do not, no.
- 58:21If anything's going to motivate them kids to play, it's going to
- 58:25be our quotes, man. It's going to be our quotes.
- 58:28Oh Lord that's what you want. We will live in infamy in that
- 58:33shitty ass locker room. This is something that I'll ask
- 58:36Curtis. I'm.
- 58:37Going to tell you, Can I say something?
- 58:39Go ahead, you. Always own one in the chat
- 58:41tonight. All of y'all.
- 58:43I mean y'all is on one go they. Ramped up.
- 58:45They ramped up. They all ramped up.
- 58:47Curtis, this is what I asked, though, because I don't know for
- 58:50sure. I have not been on Twitter for
- 58:53real. Or X or whatever you want to
- 58:54call it, X videos. I don't know what we called it
- 58:57today, but is Braylon Johnson is a grad transfer, right?
- 59:02Did he get his degree in like 3 years or two years?
- 59:04He got in 2 1/2. I think he did, Yeah.
- 59:08That's crazy. That's awesome for him though,
- 59:11to leave with a degree and leave us a grad transfer like that's,
- 59:15that's good. That's pretty good.
- 59:16That's that's damn good. But yeah, in in I'm on mute.
- 59:26It's like 30 of them quotes in the locker room.
- 59:28Right. All right, all.
- 59:32Right. Thankfully we don't have any
- 59:33more. We lost tally we.
- 59:34Lost Tally, you said? Brian, you're on mute, Brian.
- 59:43I mean, Curtis, Curtis, you're on mute.
- 59:45That's what I'm saying. No, you're not on mute, but I'm
- 59:48just saying. That's what y'all got to do.
- 59:50Well, it's the court over here. All right, real quick, kick the
- 59:53linebackers. McDonald and Fleming are gone.
- 59:57Same thing. Both McDonald's are gone.
- 1:00:00Cam Fleming's gone, tried to make the move to linebacker,
- 1:00:03didn't work out. But Brian, I think from what
- 1:00:05we've seen in reading, it's, it's pretty much Keller Woodson,
- 1:00:09George, George Balance, shout out George Balance and Kayla, I
- 1:00:15mean, Kayla Spencer, right? Hey, man.
- 1:00:19So, yeah, there there was There was some fun rotations at
- 1:00:21linebacker, you know, the usual suspects.
- 1:00:25She had Keller, you had Woodson. Hang on, where is?
- 1:00:28Where is the where? Where's the?
- 1:00:30Where's the? Oh, no, no.
- 1:00:32I got. I got.
- 1:00:32I got you I. Got you, Josh Young.
- 1:00:35Josh Young. Put it in there.
- 1:00:37Yeah, I'll find it. Anyway, three time spring ball
- 1:00:43MVP Jane Keller in the starting rotation at Mike Woodson playing
- 1:00:51the other backer there. He had Balance and Spencer in
- 1:00:54there as well. I wouldn't say concerned, but
- 1:01:01like I'd like one more in the portal.
- 1:01:04I think that's kind of the my big take away from seeing this
- 1:01:06group and I I think they will hold up just fine.
- 1:01:11But I don't think I, I think maybe even we'll see some
- 1:01:14additional, some better play compared to last year, But I'd
- 1:01:19still like to maybe get another body in that room that has some
- 1:01:23experience in the portal as we're moving forward.
- 1:01:26I think, you know, looking at the offers we're throwing out
- 1:01:28there, that's not the only I'm not the only person thinking
- 1:01:33that. Yeah, and I mean, I think,
- 1:01:37again, I think what you said, we can live with it, but it's depth
- 1:01:40is depth, right? And you know, Keller's gone
- 1:01:44after this year. I believe balance is gone after
- 1:01:46this year too. So if anything, bringing the
- 1:01:48other guy in you, you kind of are setting yourself up for the
- 1:01:52future And and I don't know, spring to me, fuck the spring
- 1:01:57portal. Springboard needs to go away.
- 1:01:59I'm just going to be real. Spring Portal needs to go away.
- 1:02:04You know, that's, that's just my feeling.
- 1:02:09You want to do it. It needs to be sometime after
- 1:02:11the bowl games, but after national championship, it starts
- 1:02:15here. It's like 2 weeks.
- 1:02:16That's it. Then do it.
- 1:02:18Spring Portal fucks too much shit up, which we're going to
- 1:02:21talk about later. All right, Sheldon, you're back.
- 1:02:25Sheldon, people are very worried about you out here, very worried
- 1:02:29about you that potentially did you get Tally's Internet?
- 1:02:34Are you? Are you on Tally's Internet?
- 1:02:36I did not get Tyson. I had to.
- 1:02:37I had to take care of some business, got some water and now
- 1:02:40I'm back. OK, let's go to defensive
- 1:02:46alignment because I think of again after safeties.
- 1:02:49The only thing we kind of don't know is what the defensive
- 1:02:52alignment looks like. Again, look in it and Shelton
- 1:02:56you, you, you wrote stuff on this, you've read about it.
- 1:02:59See if kiss can do anything. That's the whole thing.
- 1:03:02He does not care. He to me, he is not married to
- 1:03:04anyone idea. He's not married to anyone idea.
- 1:03:13Front looks, all this stuff which I really like because it's
- 1:03:19you have to play through the personnel you have there and
- 1:03:22from what it looked like on Saturday, 2 weeks ago, it's
- 1:03:27going to look like that this year.
- 1:03:29So y'all, we, we, we, we, we wrote some notes when we chatted
- 1:03:33with each other. What did y'all like seeing out
- 1:03:37of all this as far as the alignments go?
- 1:03:45I mean, I like that, that we're kind of adapting the, the
- 1:03:48alignment based on the, the way that the offense wants to attack
- 1:03:55us. So we we can, we can really be
- 1:03:59flexible to what what they do and take that away.
- 1:04:04I think that's, that's one of the benefits of being, being
- 1:04:07multiple is that you may not be a hammer at everything or at one
- 1:04:16specific thing, but you're like, all right, you're a drill at
- 1:04:20pretty much everything. Like you can, you can handle
- 1:04:21some stuff here, you can put some stuff in.
- 1:04:23So there's a, there's a benefit of not really having as many
- 1:04:30holes or weaknesses relative to what an offense is trying to do
- 1:04:35from a scheme standpoint. Again, the the downside is that
- 1:04:39you know, if you, if you are really good in one area, you
- 1:04:42know you lose a little bit of that, that high end in that
- 1:04:46specific spot, but you know you can, you can.
- 1:04:48It gives you a lot more flexibility with different
- 1:04:50looks, adapting to personnel a lot quicker and adapting to what
- 1:04:55a a certain scheme is going to throw at you.
- 1:04:58I got you and you go ahead and hit us up here.
- 1:05:03Who was where and did you like where everybody was or was it
- 1:05:07one of those things like is it? Should this guy really be on
- 1:05:10this? Say that one more time.
- 1:05:16So tell us who was where and is there anything you disagreed
- 1:05:19with? Was there anybody when you saw
- 1:05:21them line up at a certain technique, you were like, should
- 1:05:24he really be there right now? Or were you like, you know what
- 1:05:28makes sense, makes sense, got to live with it because of what you
- 1:05:31got? All right.
- 1:05:33So I mean, let's let's do a rundown of the defensive line
- 1:05:36real quick and kind of where they were, what they were in and
- 1:05:39things like that. And then I can talk about what I
- 1:05:41don't really agree with, I guess.
- 1:05:44So primarily what we had interior 2 I and then you had a
- 1:05:51A3 or A4 I opposite that on the inside kind of that wide 9 or a
- 1:05:58or an angled 7 look from the defensive ends.
- 1:06:02Typically depending on whether there was a tight end either
- 1:06:06overhang or in line on their side or not.
- 1:06:10You had Jonkum on one side, Burgos on the other.
- 1:06:13At at the the outside linebacker positions, Jonkum had his hand
- 1:06:17in the dirt about 50% of the time, maybe not quite that stand
- 1:06:22up the rest of the time. A lot of times handles in the
- 1:06:25dirt on those early downs. You know, Gilliam and Copeland
- 1:06:30were at the two I in the 3-4 I, you know, depending on the
- 1:06:34alignment, they're respectively in the first group.
- 1:06:38You had laws and Nash in the second group in those same
- 1:06:40spots. And then the third group was was
- 1:06:44Evans and Priester. And that's, that's kind of where
- 1:06:47I was like, hang on, we got you got you got Priester at the at
- 1:06:52the three and then you got Evans at the two.
- 1:06:57I was a little shocked to see that probably Priester was the
- 1:07:00one that impressed me the least in that group.
- 1:07:05I thought he was really good at eating up some blocks.
- 1:07:10He didn't really shed well. He wasn't going to be an impact
- 1:07:13player as far as like shoot the gap or anything like that.
- 1:07:16He's very much a guy that's going to eat blocks and let
- 1:07:19Woodson and Keller guys behind him feast a little bit, but he's
- 1:07:23not going to really be that dynamic player that we saw with
- 1:07:26Aeneas Peebles, right? So don't expect that from
- 1:07:29Priester, at least not this year.
- 1:07:33Copeland flashed a little bit more of that.
- 1:07:35Obviously he's he's higher up in the depth chart, but he flashed
- 1:07:39a little bit more of that. I was, I like seeing Laws mix in
- 1:07:43there with Nash. I think that's going to be a
- 1:07:45pretty good combination behind Gilliam and Copeland and seeing
- 1:07:50Evans get that much run, you know, this early in his career
- 1:07:54was, you know, promising as well for his future development.
- 1:07:57Well, Evans, y'all weren't. Y'all weren't on a couple weeks
- 1:08:01ago. Evans checked in 62290.
- 1:08:05That's and again, that kid supposed to be going to prom
- 1:08:08next week, not be that 6290 coming in.
- 1:08:13He's got the chip because remember, he won the Under
- 1:08:16Armour stuff up in Maryland. Didn't get bumped at all where
- 1:08:19he should have probably been a four-star and that is what it
- 1:08:23is. But Speaking of defensive line,
- 1:08:26let's let's pivot real quick to this.
- 1:08:29One of the McDonald's twins is out.
- 1:08:30But today we got a commitment from Cody Huseman.
- 1:08:35Defensive tackle pronunciation to be determined but.
- 1:08:37You know, that's what I see it as if anybody's got it put in
- 1:08:40ChatGPT and make it happen. But defensive tackle, I think
- 1:08:46Brian, when, when I, first of all, Tally got mad and it's
- 1:08:50like, I need someone I know that's the first thing you
- 1:08:54texted Tally. He got upset about it.
- 1:08:57Tally. Tally was conflicted because
- 1:08:58Tally's like we finally got a green box there.
- 1:09:01Shout out Kobe Crawford. We finally got a green box, but
- 1:09:03it's not somebody I know. I want another neus peoples.
- 1:09:08I know that's going to be hard, but give me a proven guy.
- 1:09:12That's why I was at at that time.
- 1:09:14You know, I calmed down a little bit, but I'm still mad like if
- 1:09:18you want to go to the next level, you got to get some next
- 1:09:20level guys. This guy going to be a next
- 1:09:22level guy. And I'm excited about being
- 1:09:24Bale. You know, I'd like to see the
- 1:09:26I'd like to see the five twins on the field at the same time.
- 1:09:29I know he's well, he's not there yet, so that'll be good.
- 1:09:32You know, they got some good stuff going.
- 1:09:34Brian brought me back down to earth a little bit.
- 1:09:36It might have been Curtis. They have been doing they've
- 1:09:39done they've done pretty good in the portal.
- 1:09:41So I got to give them a little bit of leeway.
- 1:09:44You know, a lot of the people that we brought in through the
- 1:09:47portal, I think somebody even said it earlier talking about,
- 1:09:50you know, we wouldn't have got APR if we didn't have a portal
- 1:09:54at certain times, things like that.
- 1:09:56So, yeah, I mean, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm excited to see what we can
- 1:10:03do if we go after anybody else who leaves, who stays, all of
- 1:10:07that stuff. We didn't kicked enough people
- 1:10:08off. We got some room.
- 1:10:09We better go after some people. Yeah, definitely.
- 1:10:12The big thing I'll say about him, I like his experience.
- 1:10:15I mean, he played 16 games last year.
- 1:10:18He played a bunch of games the year before and he red shirted a
- 1:10:22couple years ago and he's like 6-4.
- 1:10:25He's like 290. And I think, Brian, you made the
- 1:10:29point. I think, I can't remember where
- 1:10:31you put it, but you said this is just good for Priester because
- 1:10:35this gift, Priester, Priester now does not have to be forced
- 1:10:38into action. Priester can well a his.
- 1:10:43We know his weight in size now. Well, now it's like let's focus
- 1:10:46on technique with him, which is good, which is what needs to
- 1:10:49happen. With, and I think his movement
- 1:10:50too, like I think if he can get a little bit more explosive,
- 1:10:55like even if you know, and that may be sizing down even just a
- 1:10:59little bit from where he's at. But yeah, I think if he can get
- 1:11:04a little bit more explosive from working in the weight room
- 1:11:08doing, doing some conditioning, things like that, I think he
- 1:11:11could really, you know, make some noise.
- 1:11:12But I don't think he's quite there yet.
- 1:11:15This gives us some flexibility that really gives us, you know,
- 1:11:18at least five, maybe 6 guys if Evans continues to progress that
- 1:11:22you can kind of rely on in the middle there.
- 1:11:26Show me anything on him. I don't know if you looked up
- 1:11:28stats or anything about his play on PFF.
- 1:11:32Yeah, I just did. He was.
- 1:11:33So he was the 19th highest graded FCS interior lineman out
- 1:11:38of almost 500. So it's pretty good.
- 1:11:41You guys may recall Arias Nash, who we also signed a little
- 1:11:45while ago, the the DT from Mercer.
- 1:11:47He was the number he was #5 highest graded DT.
- 1:11:50So, so we got two of the top 20 FCS defensive tackles, which is
- 1:11:56pretty good. I mean, I know it's FCS, but
- 1:11:58like, you know, just reality is like, you know, when you're a
- 1:12:01program like Vt, you kind of got to find those, you know, those
- 1:12:03smaller school guys like those Simons in the rough.
- 1:12:05And I think I think the staff has done a good job of trying to
- 1:12:08get those guys that come from winning programs.
- 1:12:11You know that they kind of know, you know, just about that.
- 1:12:14They have kind of they have that work ethic and you know, have to
- 1:12:16kind of punch them with their way a little bit to get trying
- 1:12:19to get guys like that. So I think it's AI think it's a
- 1:12:21pretty good pick up. Sure.
- 1:12:23That's a great point to make is about the winning program thing
- 1:12:26because Mercer, what, 11 and three last year made it deep in
- 1:12:29the FCS playoffs. Obviously, you know, North
- 1:12:33Dakota State is the best of the FCS and last year I believe that
- 1:12:37they went, they won it last year, right?
- 1:12:39Yep, they won't beat Montana State.
- 1:12:41They beat Montana State, they were 14 and 2.
- 1:12:43So it's like, you know, they're good football.
- 1:12:47It it's effectively can they elevate to come to the highest
- 1:12:50level where everybody's just as good across from you.
- 1:12:53And I think again, tally, you mentioned a little bit earlier,
- 1:12:56that's the best thing about the portal now for these guys
- 1:12:59because these guys would never they would be looked at.
- 1:13:02But now if they come up and they absolutely ball this year at
- 1:13:07Tech, they're going to get drafted probably.
- 1:13:10You know, you think about like, like Jay Lane, as good as he was
- 1:13:14at Middle Tennessee, if he doesn't come to Tech.
- 1:13:17Same with Basil too. They don't get that opportunity.
- 1:13:20So I think it's pretty good. Brian, I know Bell did not play.
- 1:13:26I know Burgos, something happened, but he was looking
- 1:13:29good, did something and they were like, Nope, you ain't
- 1:13:32playing no more. You go over here and sit, but
- 1:13:37you're feeling OK. Between Burgos, Jonkum, Aysen,
- 1:13:41Steven James, Jeanette, Ben Bell, do you?
- 1:13:45Or, as always, go get an edge rusher.
- 1:13:48Don't matter. I mean, throw one more in there.
- 1:13:52You couldn't hurt. I I think, you know, you got
- 1:13:55Bell coming in. I think you might.
- 1:13:58Well, Bell's there. He he just hurt his shoulder.
- 1:14:01Yeah, but I'm saying as far as playing.
- 1:14:03Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, you know, he's, he's
- 1:14:05going to be somebody that you can count on, you know, come to
- 1:14:08fall. I'm I'm a little little
- 1:14:13concerned if, if we don't have maybe one more in there, though,
- 1:14:18because I like what I saw from Ace and I thought Jeanette he
- 1:14:21played a little bit better when he was kind of having to he was
- 1:14:25in that those those zone blitz looks.
- 1:14:27I I didn't see a ton of rush from him where where he's going
- 1:14:33to be some sort of impact player from a from an edge perspective.
- 1:14:37I think he could be a solid player, but I don't I don't
- 1:14:39think he's actually going to be be a big impact guy.
- 1:14:43You know, so you got three guys you feel like you can rely on
- 1:14:46Burgos, John Cumbell, you got Ace and Stevens that's coming
- 1:14:50along. And then you got Jeanette.
- 1:14:52That is probably a little more niche in terms of what he can do
- 1:14:56for you. So it it wouldn't hurt to get
- 1:14:58one more guy in that room that can kind of mix in with those
- 1:15:01guys all. Right so go go to home 3 or 247
- 1:15:06and look it forward and find an edge for us.
- 1:15:08Y'all cornerback room, last room I hit.
- 1:15:13I mean any from the look of the defense we're probably running.
- 1:15:17I mean we we've got IBM and I think the way you said knowledge
- 1:15:22played, I think it's going to be tough to keep him from getting a
- 1:15:27red shirt this year. I think the way you've mentioned
- 1:15:29how he played. But who else?
- 1:15:31Who else in that room? You've obviously got Lovis,
- 1:15:34Tomic Williams, Josh Spark did not play there is there's stuff
- 1:15:40saying he he might not be back for fall.
- 1:15:44We'll have to hear that when we see it.
- 1:15:47But who else got some run and who else did you like?
- 1:15:50And what about Lovett? Did is does Lovett look like he
- 1:15:55took that step? He looks like he took that step.
- 1:15:58I think he's definitely going to be easy stepped into that dog
- 1:16:01role in that room. I think the big question is, is
- 1:16:05there going to be other guys that can run with him at a
- 1:16:09consistent level where, you know, we don't get into
- 1:16:13situations where if one guy's down or especially if it is
- 1:16:15Lovett where we're, you know, behind the 8 ball, especially
- 1:16:21for if we're not going to have Clark, you know, come to fall.
- 1:16:23So I liked what I saw from IBM. He did blow the the double pass
- 1:16:28coverage there. You know, it was a bunch bunch
- 1:16:31wheel route from Selden. As soon as the first pass
- 1:16:35happened, he jumped it and, you know, seldom took off and to the
- 1:16:39races and and you know, Braylon Johnson was on the back end of
- 1:16:42that and didn't really do a good job of kind of getting over
- 1:16:44there from a safety perspective. Thomas Williams looked pretty
- 1:16:49good and no, no real big notes there.
- 1:16:54I tell you. JoJo Krim was probably the
- 1:16:58younger guy that probably popped off a little bit more than I
- 1:17:03expected. So keep an eye on JoJo Krim.
- 1:17:06Christian Williams got in the mix as well, Was fine.
- 1:17:10Not nothing impressive, but I'd say as far as like high ceiling
- 1:17:13guy, JoJo Krim of the younger guys is going to be the guy to
- 1:17:16keep an eye on. You heard a lot, heard a lot of
- 1:17:20good stuff about Krim just coming out of camp and things
- 1:17:24like that. So man, you got to you got to
- 1:17:27put the got to put the dogs on the field.
- 1:17:29You know, you got to burn some shirts this year.
- 1:17:30You got to put some people in and you know, put the best, the
- 1:17:36best talent that you have on the field to try to win games.
- 1:17:39So sometime the best talent is young talent.
- 1:17:43All right, y'all real quick, Andretti say you want to play
- 1:17:47games with y'all. Y'all get that?
- 1:17:48Down Andretti's in the house. Andretti's in the house.
- 1:17:53I think this is another room I like.
- 1:17:56I think you need one more just to feel good.
- 1:18:02Don't be, don't be, don't be mean to numbers.
- 1:18:05We're going to talk about the. Four.
- 1:18:06Hey man, we got we got some weird numbers.
- 1:18:08Here we always got weird numbers there we.
- 1:18:09Got junk of a 66. I mean, I guess that's fine.
- 1:18:14Got cream at 35. We don't have it.
- 1:18:16We don't have the the double fours outside anymore, Tally.
- 1:18:20Good, we don't need them. Well, we got a 35 somewhere
- 1:18:23running around back there now, so yeah, that ain't no better.
- 1:18:27He took up he he he took the mantle.
- 1:18:29He took the mantle. 44 is on a. And at least 35 is a safety
- 1:18:32number. Maybe not.
- 1:18:33Not a that's true. Not a linebacker number.
- 1:18:37All right. Obviously, we kind of went
- 1:18:40through it. We told you where we feel like
- 1:18:41we see with the portal and that's wide open right now.
- 1:18:45Over the next few days, one commit today, probably a few
- 1:18:48more coming in the next couple days.
- 1:18:50We'll see how they land. We'll probably discuss those
- 1:18:52transfers and the impacts on them.
- 1:18:54But let's flip over to the big portal shit that went down over
- 1:18:58the last couple weeks. And that's the Nikko.
- 1:19:00I am a lever situation. I don't know who wants to start,
- 1:19:05but if anybody would like to take the mantle and start with
- 1:19:09this situation and just give us your honest to God opinion about
- 1:19:14what happened. Tally this seems like you're
- 1:19:18you're bread and. Butter and you close to it too,
- 1:19:20Tally. Oh.
- 1:19:20Man, I don't know that just the portal is so crazy How look at
- 1:19:27things though I feel like, and this is going to sound crazy,
- 1:19:31this is going to sound crazy. So y'all just hang in there with
- 1:19:34me. A million dollars, $2,000,000
- 1:19:39whatever the numbers are $3,000,000.
- 1:19:42Would I love to have it at 39 years old?
- 1:19:44Yeah of course. But what these kids are trying
- 1:19:48to do with this NIL $2,000,000 ain't going to be shit.
- 1:19:52That's not going to change your family's life forever like you
- 1:19:56think. So you're chasing this, in my
- 1:19:59opinion, little bit of money when you can go and make the
- 1:20:03real money. And these coaches are
- 1:20:05fraternity, man. I just feel like these kids put
- 1:20:08theirself in bad spots and families put themselves in bad
- 1:20:11spots by playing that money game.
- 1:20:14And then when it comes down to doing, you know, NFL ratings and
- 1:20:20NFL interviews and things like that, what's going to be said in
- 1:20:23them back rooms? Hey, y'all, you might want to
- 1:20:26stay away from him. He's going to be, you know, he's
- 1:20:28not loyal. He's going to play your team for
- 1:20:30money, whatever the case may be. So I just wish people would be
- 1:20:35more careful with things like that.
- 1:20:37And then on the surface of this, just the surface, not even
- 1:20:41thinking that deep into it. It's like stuff coming out.
- 1:20:46He didn't want to play the the didn't want to play the playoff
- 1:20:50game. Asking for more money then
- 1:20:54wanting more money. Now.
- 1:20:56I probably would rather stick with Josh Hyper than the UCLAI
- 1:21:01don't even know who. Who is the UCLA coach?
- 1:21:06Curtis having to Google it? He don't.
- 1:21:07He don't fucking know was. It more or something or?
- 1:21:12I think you're. Right.
- 1:21:15All I'm saying is I've seen Hyper turn some good players
- 1:21:23into NFL players. I probably would want to stick
- 1:21:27with him and get the real money because the kid has talent so
- 1:21:31he's going to get itself to the next level with his talent for
- 1:21:34the most part. Long as he don't do nothing
- 1:21:36stupid and get hurt any of those things.
- 1:21:39I probably would want to stick out with a coach that I know has
- 1:21:43proven that he can get quarterbacks to the NFL so I can
- 1:21:46get the real life changing money and worry about the little money
- 1:21:50that you're getting now because if your talent can get you
- 1:21:54$2,000,000 in college, what can he get you in the NFL?
- 1:21:57Look at Cam Ward. Yep, pretty calm Ward man, Bet
- 1:22:00on the self, you know, put yourself in the right positions
- 1:22:04and probably going to be the first pick in the draft.
- 1:22:08What kind of money is that? Like that?
- 1:22:12I just wish these kids and this, these families would go back to
- 1:22:15knowing like that's the real goal.
- 1:22:17That's the life changing money there.
- 1:22:19But we're chasing this quick money and I just feel like that
- 1:22:24quick money is going to have some stipulations on it.
- 1:22:26Sooner or later they're going to start putting some stuff on that
- 1:22:29well, it's going to hurt some of these kids.
- 1:22:32And then my real opinion is, is fucking dumb.
- 1:22:35Stupid. It was dumb.
- 1:22:38Like this whole situation was stupid.
- 1:22:42She had many any feelings on this, as you and I, I don't know
- 1:22:45how much you get when Shelton's working.
- 1:22:47I don't know how much he gets to read into these situations and
- 1:22:49do all that. But anything on that?
- 1:22:52No, I read a lot with this. I, I say this every day because
- 1:22:55it's because I'm, I'm interested in like the, the politics and
- 1:22:58like the, the litigation aspect of this whole debate.
- 1:23:01You know, that's not the podcast and stuff.
- 1:23:03I mean, I could go on forever, but I would say just give, give
- 1:23:06my main thought. Like I'm a big, I'm a big free
- 1:23:08market guy. I think that Nico has his rights
- 1:23:11to bargain for what he feels it might be worth.
- 1:23:14I also think Tennessee has every right to make a financial
- 1:23:17decision in their best interest. And they decided to do that and
- 1:23:20they moved on. So to me, this is like the free
- 1:23:22market at work here. I know it's, you know, turbulent
- 1:23:25time, but I think this is just, you know, two parties deciding,
- 1:23:29you know, what's best. And ultimately, Nico, you know,
- 1:23:32screwed himself out of some money, or so it would seem.
- 1:23:34But I mean, that's the bet he made.
- 1:23:38So, you know, you make in life, you sometimes make decisions
- 1:23:40that don't turn out the way you want to.
- 1:23:41And you just got to learn from it.
- 1:23:43And, you know, that's his that's his right as an American.
- 1:23:46So I'm not super, you know, super rattled by, you know, this
- 1:23:52whole saga. Like I just, I, I think it's the
- 1:23:54free market at work. And I also think, you know, kind
- 1:23:57of like Joe Platt said, we don't necessarily know all the full
- 1:23:59details of everything, everything that transpired in
- 1:24:02the situation or why specifically Nico wanted to opt
- 1:24:04out at this particular time. So I, I know I don't have too
- 1:24:08much judgement on that part of it.
- 1:24:09But you know, I mean, it's just part of the, it's part of the,
- 1:24:12it's part of life. Like you, you, you move jobs
- 1:24:15because you think you might get a better deal.
- 1:24:16Maybe it doesn't work out. And that's just how, that's just
- 1:24:19how life goes. So I'm, I'm very much, you know,
- 1:24:21kind of a pragmatist when it comes to stuff, to stuff.
- 1:24:25Yeah. And I think when we talk about
- 1:24:27pragmatic approaches, if I'm in a good situation and I'm making
- 1:24:33good money, I'm going to have an offer in my hand before I step
- 1:24:39out on that. That's a pragmatic decision.
- 1:24:42And with as much tampering is already going on, if if you and
- 1:24:47your pops in particular weren't pushing things without getting
- 1:24:53something in writing or getting getting some sort of, you know,
- 1:24:56handshake deal before you start rattling cages like that, you
- 1:25:01put yourself in a bad situation. Because now you've got this,
- 1:25:06this kid gloves type of reputation where it's like, all
- 1:25:12right, is this tainted goods? Is this tainted goods?
- 1:25:15Like, you know, he pushed his way out of this.
- 1:25:17Is this going to be our fate too?
- 1:25:19Like you, I think the, the biggest problem with what he did
- 1:25:22and how he did it was that he didn't have a plan, a long term
- 1:25:29plan when when he started rattling the cages and I, you
- 1:25:34know, ultimately that landed him at UCLAA job that Chip Kelly
- 1:25:39said a coordinator, program coordinator role with the
- 1:25:43Raiders was was better than being the head coach at UCLA.
- 1:25:46So. Well, Ohio State first.
- 1:25:49Well, Ohio State first, but yeah.
- 1:25:50Ohio State first, Yeah, he's with the rated now.
- 1:25:55To me, it's all about what he thought he had leverage because
- 1:25:59he said there it's almost in the spring practice.
- 1:26:02I want $2,000,000 more. Whether they were shopping him
- 1:26:07or not, he went to them. You're going to give me $4
- 1:26:09million or Jim real quick, No, SEC cannot transfer with an SEC.
- 1:26:16That is a rule in their bylaws. They cannot transfer with them.
- 1:26:20That's why he went to UCLA. But to the point goes, he over
- 1:26:24leveraged himself. He thought they ain't gonna,
- 1:26:27they ain't gonna fucking let me go.
- 1:26:28We went to the playoffs last year.
- 1:26:29We were a good team last year and basically EIPL said Home
- 1:26:34slice. I've been coaching quarterbacks
- 1:26:36for about 15 years now. All of my get usually play
- 1:26:40pretty damn good. You're not worth the extra
- 1:26:44$2,000,000 and he screwed himself out of money and he's
- 1:26:47probably screwed himself to Tally's point tally.
- 1:26:50I looked it up. The first round draft pick Cam
- 1:26:53Ward's going to effectively get $43,000,000 with about 30 of it
- 1:26:58guaranteed. That's the point Tallies makes
- 1:27:01right there. 2,000,000 is nothing compared to 42.
- 1:27:06I'd love $2,000,000 right now in the tally's point.
- 1:27:09But forty $344,000,000, that's a that is a that is generational
- 1:27:15type of where literally it's not just your kids, it's your kids,
- 1:27:20kids that can keep living off that, living good, having a
- 1:27:24great life. So to me, he just tried to play
- 1:27:29the game and they would just like screw you mood.
- 1:27:32And that's the other issue with the college kids.
- 1:27:34To me, there's probably only about 5 or 6 players, like 5 or
- 1:27:386 players. Seriously, that can say I want
- 1:27:42an extra $1,000,000 right now or I'm leaving and schools are
- 1:27:45going to give it to them so I can and.
- 1:27:48Then another, yeah, another thing too.
- 1:27:51When you talk about, you know, NRL, 'cause I'm, I'm, I'm on,
- 1:27:55I'm like, I don't want to have straddling the fence, but like
- 1:27:57I, I understand where it comes from from the organization
- 1:28:02standpoint. But also like I'm with Shelton,
- 1:28:04like I know these young men deserve to get certain things
- 1:28:09and it's their right to choose what they want to do.
- 1:28:12But I'm also looking at it from like my son, you know, now my
- 1:28:16son ain't going to get no fucking NIL like that.
- 1:28:19He ain't going to get nothing if he'll start hitting the ball.
- 1:28:21But what I'm saying is like thinking about a kid or young
- 1:28:29man getting $2,000,000, right? Sounds like a lot of money,
- 1:28:32right? They're like, oh, that's a lot
- 1:28:33of money. They don't deserve it or they do
- 1:28:35deserve it. Like do you know how many
- 1:28:38peoples riding on that 2 million?
- 1:28:39Like me, if I got 2,000,000 right now, I'm worried about
- 1:28:42four people. I got two kids and my wife.
- 1:28:44I'm worried about four people. I can make some stuff shake with
- 1:28:472 million. These kids have whole families
- 1:28:51depending on them to get them places and move them across the
- 1:28:55country and bring their little brothers with them.
- 1:28:58So that 2 million between 20 people or however many people,
- 1:29:03it's not going very far because Mama want to call, Daddy want to
- 1:29:06call. We got to move because they need
- 1:29:07to go to my games and we live in a, they live across the country,
- 1:29:10so got to buy them a house over here.
- 1:29:12Like it's not the lottery, man. Like they're not winning the
- 1:29:15lottery. And I think that they just get
- 1:29:16caught up in the hype right then.
- 1:29:20And I just hope they look at things different.
- 1:29:22Like my goat didn't ever play the NFL.
- 1:29:24Jerrod Evans never made it to the NFLI.
- 1:29:28Know that there's politics in football.
- 1:29:30So if Jerrod didn't make it, I feel like a coach can put a word
- 1:29:33in and you won't make it no matter what your talent is.
- 1:29:36So again, I just won't these families and these young men to
- 1:29:41start thinking about it from a business standpoint more than
- 1:29:46they are thinking about it just from a money standpoint.
- 1:29:49So yeah, I hope he didn't screw himself out of money because I
- 1:29:54think the kids talented, you know, I think he's he's he's I
- 1:29:57think he's got something, you know, I think he can, you know,
- 1:29:59who knows how high he can go? But I do know that once you
- 1:30:02start, it's a good old boy society man.
- 1:30:05When you start playing around in that and they'll in the weeds,
- 1:30:09you know, somebody might get the more out.
- 1:30:10So we'll see. There you go.
- 1:30:13All right, well, Speaking of that, and because it kind of
- 1:30:17goes into a good segue into the last thing we're going to talk
- 1:30:20about tonight, the NFL draft is tomorrow night.
- 1:30:24I know all well, Sheldon, I'm not sure if you've got a game
- 1:30:27tomorrow, but I will be stuck to the TV probably like, well,
- 1:30:33Tally, you get to stay the the least because Tally's team is
- 1:30:37picking first. I'm my team's picking 11,
- 1:30:39Reinstein's picking 15 and Shelton's way back at like 30.
- 1:30:43But I wanted to just go through y'all and just hear what you
- 1:30:47want your team to do. And we're going to do it in
- 1:30:49order. So Tally with the first pick in
- 1:30:52the NFL 2025 NFL Draft. The Tennessee Titans, I mean.
- 1:30:57Cam Ward, They taking Cam Ward? I mean, we ain't hit on a
- 1:31:00quarterback in I think since like 1997 or something like
- 1:31:05that. I don't know, like we've been
- 1:31:07not good at drafting quarterbacks, but this is going
- 1:31:11to change this year. I like Cam Ward a lot.
- 1:31:13I think that that's the obvious pick.
- 1:31:16The only other person I thought they would have picked right
- 1:31:18there would be the generational talent, Travis Harner.
- 1:31:22But that's not what our team really needs right now.
- 1:31:24So I'm thinking, well, I'm knowing that we going for Cam
- 1:31:29Ward. So I'm just hoping that we got
- 1:31:33the line to block for him because getting everybody's
- 1:31:38going to judge their young quarterbacks by what Jayden
- 1:31:40Daniels did, right? True.
- 1:31:41No like that. That's what you want your
- 1:31:43quarterback to come in and do. Does he do that?
- 1:31:45I don't know. You know I don't, I don't think
- 1:31:47so. But if he can do a step better
- 1:31:49than we did last year, so we ain't got the first pick the
- 1:31:51year after, I'll be OK with that.
- 1:31:54I hear you by the way, y'all want to chat?
- 1:31:56I know Josh put in there Denver drafting to drafting Genetti.
- 1:32:00If you got what you think your team should do, say it.
- 1:32:03I'm going to go next. I'm a 49ers fan.
- 1:32:06If y'all don't know and everybody thinks like, oh, y'all
- 1:32:12need a lot of different stuff and it's like, no, our defense
- 1:32:14was asked last year, Rockford is going to get paid probably
- 1:32:18somewhere north of $300 million very, very soon.
- 1:32:22He is. And everybody's like he was
- 1:32:24asked, y'all couldn't win last year.
- 1:32:25It won't because of him. He was like 6 best quarterback
- 1:32:27in the league. Iuke was hurt, McCaffrey was
- 1:32:30hurt. He still played decent.
- 1:32:32But for us, I'd like to see U.S. trade back.
- 1:32:35But the, the, the truth is, if you ask me right now who we take
- 1:32:39or who I want us to take, I'm going to take kid out of Ole
- 1:32:44Miss. The D tackle, Walter Nolan, he's
- 1:32:47like 6-3. He's like 300 lbs.
- 1:32:49He is a hell of a run stopper. He's got some pass rush moves on
- 1:32:53the inside and we need to build that part.
- 1:32:56Brian, you're next on the clock. You know what I mean?
- 1:33:01Everything I'm seeing so far, they've got the Colts really
- 1:33:05want to get a tight end. I definitely feel it's a
- 1:33:07position in need. And lo and behold, who's
- 1:33:11probably going to be there? Tyler Warren, at least finest.
- 1:33:16At least finest. So I, I, I think that's going to
- 1:33:20be the pick. I think just as a, as a, as a
- 1:33:23Richmond guy, as a, as a Mechanicsville, as a, as a
- 1:33:26Hanover resident, that that would be a pretty cool pick for
- 1:33:30the Colts. If, if we end up not going that
- 1:33:34route or he's not available, I think Shamar Stewart, the edge
- 1:33:39from Texas A&M would probably be where I'd go if, if Ty Warren's
- 1:33:45not available there. Shelton.
- 1:33:49It's been a long time coming since you had a wait.
- 1:33:51Sean's going to have to wait up for the first time in how many
- 1:33:53years for the draft. Well, what are you?
- 1:33:56What's, what's your, what's your commanders going to do?
- 1:34:00Yeah, they'll probably be, they'll probably be defense
- 1:34:02focus because that's the way it, you know, they got improved the
- 1:34:04most. I think probably edge and corner
- 1:34:08will be the biggest priorities. Maybe wide receiver.
- 1:34:10I've seen a couple of mock drafts have a second wide
- 1:34:12receiver in the first round. But as far as it pertains to the
- 1:34:15Hokies, we do have a need for a more explosive running back.
- 1:34:18And I know that we, we had some workouts with, with, with
- 1:34:21Bashall Tooten. So it's possible they could go
- 1:34:24out your tune maybe in kind of a mid round pick 'cause I think it
- 1:34:26probably slotted, you know, third or fourth round.
- 1:34:29So it'd be, it'd be great if that worked out 'cause it's it
- 1:34:31fills A-Team need, but I think it'll be probably more of a a
- 1:34:35defensive minded draft for for the commanders.
- 1:34:38All right, no player in particular right there.
- 1:34:42Let me see there. I know there was what was?
- 1:34:46His name? What's cool I've done.
- 1:34:47I've only done 600 mocks in the last month.
- 1:34:50Yeah, there was a UCLA defensive end.
- 1:34:56Linebacker end, end. Yeah, he's flying out the boards
- 1:35:02too, because he went from like mid second, third round to like
- 1:35:07he might sneak into the back end of the first round.
- 1:35:10Yeah, who knows? That's true.
- 1:35:13That's true. That's true.
- 1:35:14They're going to be getting Malachi Starks is who they're
- 1:35:17going to get I How many Hokies are we all thinking 55 but.
- 1:35:26Who's the who's the I got? I got Peebles APR lane tootin
- 1:35:29strong. Is that that the five peoples?
- 1:35:32Tootin, APR Lane, Strong and Peebles.
- 1:35:36Yeah. Felton might slip in late
- 1:35:40seventh round just because 6-4, but I think 5 that's.
- 1:35:44What? She said.
- 1:35:46Boom, All right, I like this one.
- 1:35:48I'm I'm all started with myself. If our teams have to take one
- 1:35:52Hokie, who would I want it to be?
- 1:35:54I need it to be Anita's peoples. I need a three tech that can go
- 1:35:58eat because Nolan can play the one tech I want to me as peoples
- 1:36:02and I think of me as peoples will be the first one off the
- 1:36:05board. That's my prediction.
- 1:36:08I think in these people's going to be the first one off the
- 1:36:10board about y'all. You got a feeling?
- 1:36:13Tally, tally smiling. Tally 1 hokey when?
- 1:36:16If you say Tennessee, draft that man.
- 1:36:19We are getting Cam Ward. Like I said, it's going to be a
- 1:36:22young quarterback and we need wide receivers because Burke's
- 1:36:25can't stay healthy. Like he going to get hurt again
- 1:36:27this year and I wishing that on him.
- 1:36:29It just happens. Give me Jay Lane, man.
- 1:36:31I think Jay Lane's going. I think he's going to play in
- 1:36:34the league for a long time. Not saying he's going to be
- 1:36:37super, you know, dominant, but he's a pro man.
- 1:36:41He just does his job. And I think that if we could
- 1:36:46somehow get Jay Lane, I would definitely have on his jersey.
- 1:36:49It'd be a lot bigger than the 1 he wears because he had a very
- 1:36:52big guy. But I would get his jersey and
- 1:36:55be wearing it. So give me give me Lane, man.
- 1:36:57Of course I love Tooting, but you know, Sheldon already took
- 1:37:00him. So we'll say Jay Lane.
- 1:37:03Hey, real quick here, there was somebody, I can't remember who I
- 1:37:06was listening to. I've listened to a ton of draft
- 1:37:08podcast this year. Unlike normal, somebody said
- 1:37:12they think Jay Lane is the best punt returner in this draft
- 1:37:16straight up. Which means, again, if he can do
- 1:37:20anything on the wide receiver, he's getting it.
- 1:37:23Shelton, how about you? Yeah, I mean, I just think I
- 1:37:26just think dude would make the most logical sense based on the
- 1:37:29team needs. Obviously, you know, you, you
- 1:37:31could go Peebles. I I don't think it makes sense
- 1:37:33based on where they're drafting, but I I think tune would give
- 1:37:36them a really dynamic edge, especially with all the the
- 1:37:39skeleton I've got the threat of JD running.
- 1:37:41I think that'd be a really awesome combination to watch.
- 1:37:45Very nice, Brian. I mean, I could see, I know
- 1:37:52we're looking at edge and cornerback probably somewhere
- 1:37:57between rounds 1 to 4, right. So if we don't get an edge in
- 1:38:04the first round, if we, if we're able to get a tight end, I think
- 1:38:08we, you know, we, we could be in a, in a spot where APR might
- 1:38:11make some sense. So I I would like to see APR.
- 1:38:15All righty got Jim on here. You and Jim going to be fighting
- 1:38:18for him in the fifth round. So yeah, And that's tomorrow
- 1:38:24night. And again, it's always cool to
- 1:38:26see. I felt like the last few years
- 1:38:28we just hadn't had anybody get drafted.
- 1:38:33So anything else, y'all? Anybody else jump in the portal
- 1:38:37while you've been sitting here for the last little while?
- 1:38:41Not that we know of. Not that we know of.
- 1:38:43It'll all be revealed tomorrow. Well, with that being said,
- 1:38:47let's wrap up this episode of the Boundary Corner podcast
