- 0:10Speaker 1: Hello, this is Tom Kane, the voice of the professor.
- 0:13Speaker 2: From The Powerpuff Girls. And you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Oh, I love it so.
- 0:19Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 0:19Speaker 5: What if I don't get my official Red Raider Carbine
- 0:22Speaker 5: Action 200 Shot Rage Model Air Rifle?
- 0:26Speaker 6: It's showtime. The following feature has been rated R by
- 0:29Speaker 6: the Motion Picture Association of America. It is intended for
- 0:33Speaker 6: mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Our nuclear reactor.
- 0:39Speaker 6: Pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Five more cooling in the containment chamber.
- 1:09Speaker 7: To your stations, we have a movie meltdown.
- 1:11Speaker 8: Don't wait, because all the money, all the women, even
- 1:16Speaker 8: all the comic books in the world, they can't substitute
- 1:19Speaker 8: for that one person.
- 1:21Speaker 5: I don't know all the comics in the world.
- 1:23Speaker 9: Trust me, true believer.
- 1:24Speaker 7: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:29Speaker 3: I'm Brian.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I'm Patrick.
- 1:38Speaker 5: I'm David.
- 1:39Speaker 1: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:41Speaker 1: the danger room, we decided. We were trying to remember
- 1:44Speaker 1: what we called this last time we were in Patrick's
- 1:46Speaker 1: subterranean attack mode bomb shelter movie watching facility.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Hey, hey, hey, when zombies take over the world, you'll
- 1:53Speaker 2: be glad you have a place to go that has
- 1:55Speaker 2: a projector.
- 1:56Speaker 5: That's true.
- 1:57Speaker 2: And just in case you didn't watch the second Avengers movie,
- 2:00Speaker 2: extra pairs of shorts.
- 2:02Speaker 5: We need to just line all these sofas with plastic.
- 2:05Speaker 5: It needs to look like Dexter's about to kill somebody
- 2:08Speaker 5: in here.
- 2:08Speaker 1: That's the way my whole house looks. What are you
- 2:10Speaker 1: talking about? That's for practical purposes. I mean, you just
- 2:14Speaker 1: got to plan ahead.
- 2:16Speaker 5: All right.
- 2:16Speaker 1: So before we get into it, we thought aside from
- 2:20Speaker 1: our Avengers ridiculousness that will ensue, I'm sure, our little
- 2:24Speaker 1: intro geek activities for the week would be, I'm assuming
- 2:28Speaker 1: by now we've all gotten through Daredevil?
- 2:31Speaker 5: I'm halfway through my second pass.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I'm actually only on episode four, but I think that's enough.
- 2:36Speaker 2: That's enough.
- 2:37Speaker 1: It's your house, but get out.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Is it four or five? Four or five has a
- 2:40Speaker 5: real nice ending.
- 2:42Speaker 10: There's several of them.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I fell asleep through the end of it, so I
- 2:44Speaker 2: don't know.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Shut your face. Are you serious?
- 2:47Speaker 2: I am very serious about that. Only because I work
- 2:49Speaker 2: a lot.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Well, that's my thing.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I usually do on most movies, so I don't know.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I have to go back and watch it. I just
- 2:54Speaker 2: saw The Kingpin for the first time.
- 2:56Speaker 5: Okay, okay.
- 2:56Speaker 2: So I think it's episode three, maybe.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 5: There's... significant well early on there is something significant i
- 3:04Speaker 5: thought then episode two which you've seen and then there's
- 3:06Speaker 5: something i thought significant then if i thought it's episode
- 3:09Speaker 5: four so you're about to see like the other to
- 3:11Speaker 5: me like holy f kind of yeah you know showing
- 3:15Speaker 5: just how brutal dark gritty and I think I know
- 3:20Speaker 5: what you're talking about. I kept waiting for Steven Seagal
- 3:23Speaker 5: to be Daredevil. He was just breaking so many arms
- 3:25Speaker 5: and wrists. He's like the new Steven Seagal.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Well, you like it because he pops out and he's like,
- 3:30Speaker 2: I'm the goddamn Daredevil.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Are we going to go right there?
- 3:34Speaker 1: Do we need to throw the spoiler alert out on
- 3:38Speaker 1: this one?
- 3:38Speaker 5: I guess we won't go too deep. I can stay
- 3:40Speaker 5: within spoilers.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Why?
- 3:42Speaker 2: Everybody else has seen it.
- 3:43Speaker 5: My thing is, The comic's been out for like 50 years.
- 3:47Speaker 1: There you go.
- 3:48Speaker 5: What am I spoiling? Not everybody's.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Wasn't it in the Ben Affleck movie?
- 3:52Speaker 1: It's exactly the same, right?
- 3:55Speaker 5: Oh, man. Yeah, I think I could stay, at least
- 3:57Speaker 5: with Daredevil.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:59Speaker 5: Ultron's going to be tough. We're doing full spoilers.
- 4:02Speaker 10: We'll give you the heads up later, but yeah, it's
- 4:03Speaker 10: going to be full spoilers.
- 4:04Speaker 2: It's full frontal on Ultron.
- 4:05Speaker 5: But Daredevil, it's mostly story driven. It's not like it
- 4:09Speaker 5: had a twist. It would be tough to ruin Daredevil.
- 4:12Speaker 1: It's got a few key moments.
- 4:13Speaker 2: That would Surprise, he gets the suit.
- 4:18Speaker 5: You may think that.
- 4:21Speaker 1: After a while, I'm like, I'm pretty sure I've seen
- 4:23Speaker 1: pictures of him in the suit. I kept going, he
- 4:25Speaker 1: really needs to hurry up and get the suit so
- 4:27Speaker 1: I can quit calling him Dread Prior Roberts. Because that's
- 4:30Speaker 1: all the entire time. It was so funny going to,
- 4:35Speaker 1: I went to C2E2 a couple weekends ago in Chicago,
- 4:38Speaker 1: which is a big comic book convention for people who
- 4:41Speaker 1: don't know. And I'm telling you right now, There was
- 4:45Speaker 1: a ton of Daredevil cosplay, but 99% of it was
- 4:50Speaker 1: the simple black pants, black tee, black bandana, some rope.
- 4:55Speaker 5: There was like two people that were actually dressed as Daredevil.
- 5:00Speaker 5: Everyone else was like, oh man, I can do that.
- 5:02Speaker 5: That simple black attire he did for like 11 episodes.
- 5:07Speaker 1: As they're ripping a curtain off mom's basement window. Where'd
- 5:11Speaker 1: this curtain go? Shut up, mom.
- 5:12Speaker 5: I'm putting on my head grip. Yeah, it was, it's
- 5:17Speaker 5: kind of become the new lazy cosplay. Like for real, definitely.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Sometimes I appreciate those even.
- 5:23Speaker 1: More that like are so half-assed. You're like, you know,
- 5:27Speaker 1: I appreciate your mental amount of effort you put into this.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Sometimes it's better than somebody who tries kind of hard,
- 5:34Speaker 1: but still doesn't really nail it. I kind of like
- 5:36Speaker 1: more that just sort of puts the t-shirt on. It's like,
- 5:38Speaker 1: kind of dressed up right.
- 5:40Speaker 5: You know we rant about this a lot because I
- 5:41Speaker 5: mean you know I help out some friends at conventions
- 5:44Speaker 5: so we're hanging out like all weekend just people watching
- 5:46Speaker 5: essentially you know and it's fun to watch like the
- 5:49Speaker 5: different levels of commitment. You know some people will be
- 5:52Speaker 5: so decked out until you look at her shoes. And
- 5:55Speaker 5: they're wearing, like, some sneakers. You know, it'll be like Thor, like,
- 5:57Speaker 5: full-on armor cape.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Thor didn't have Nikes.
- 6:00Speaker 5: And he's wearing some, like, white K-Swiss. Like, you couldn't
- 6:02Speaker 5: do the shoes? You couldn't do some shoes, too?
- 6:04Speaker 1: Because we would sit at our table. There's been several
- 6:07Speaker 1: times now where we will sit at the table with
- 6:09Speaker 1: the mics, and she will just critique.
- 6:11Speaker 5: And it's almost always shoes.
- 6:13Speaker 1: She will be like, what is this sandals bullshit, girl?
- 6:16Speaker 1: I'm like, you've got a full-on outfit going, and you
- 6:18Speaker 1: wore flip-flops.
- 6:19Speaker 5: Get the fuck out of here.
- 6:20Speaker 1: That's the easy stuff.
- 6:21Speaker 5: You don't have to make it. That's the one where
- 6:23Speaker 5: you can kind of you know, maybe quote unquote cheat,
- 6:26Speaker 5: you know, just buy them, just buy the shoes. You know,
- 6:28Speaker 5: you don't have to, no one's expecting you to like
- 6:30Speaker 5: soul a shoe, you know, to be authentic.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Just please cobble this for me.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Groot didn't wear Crocs. I'm pretty sure Groot didn't wear Crocs.
- 6:38Speaker 5: They were green.
- 6:40Speaker 1: That's cool, right?
- 6:41Speaker 2: You grew a whole fucking tree into a costume and
- 6:44Speaker 2: then you put goddamn Crocs on.
- 6:46Speaker 5: It's interesting you brought that up at C2E2. They have
- 6:50Speaker 5: some national level, you know, cosplay contest and the person
- 6:53Speaker 5: that won was Groot.
- 6:54Speaker 2: That was a very impressive costume.
- 6:56Speaker 5: Eight-foot-tall, amazing-looking Groot.
- 6:58Speaker 10: Again, he just had a twig taped to his head.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Hey, guys. I'm Groot.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Just a bunch of mulch. He just, like, did, like,
- 7:04Speaker 5: spray glue all over his body and rolled around in mulch.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I'm Groot.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Fucking up the one line.
- 7:10Speaker 5: There was one line!
- 7:11Speaker 6: Right.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I'm totally Groot. Wait, that's not.
- 7:15Speaker 5: No, wait a minute. Hey, guys.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I'm Groot.
- 7:18Speaker 5: Groot is I. Be like the Yoda Groot.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Groot.
- 7:26Speaker 5: So, I don't know.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I mean, just overall, Daredevil, I'm like, again, we've kind
- 7:30Speaker 1: of entered into a whole new level. Just in general,
- 7:34Speaker 1: I'm like, I, and this is how I knew, because
- 7:36Speaker 1: I don't, I'm kind of hit and miss on TV
- 7:39Speaker 1: shows anyway, and, like, definitely, like, I'm not the marathon-ing through. Like,
- 7:44Speaker 1: I know that's everybody's favorite thing to do now, but
- 7:46Speaker 1: I'm just kind of like, the few that I actually
- 7:48Speaker 1: watch regularly, I kind of do try to hit that
- 7:51Speaker 1: night and be like, oh, yeah, that's on Tuesday. I'll
- 7:53Speaker 1: try to be home and watch that. So it's like
- 7:55Speaker 1: most of the ones I'm watching.
- 7:56Speaker 5: Which iZombie is awesome, by the way. Is it good?
- 7:58Speaker 10: I really like it. I'm making a point to be
- 8:01Speaker 10: home to watch iZombie.
- 8:03Speaker 6: Got you.
- 8:03Speaker 1: And I think I've said it before, but that chick,
- 8:06Speaker 1: way hotter as a zombie. They show the flashback episode
- 8:09Speaker 1: from the pilot, and I'm just like, oh, zombie girl.
- 8:12Speaker 10: Like, all of a sudden, she gets all pale and
- 8:14Speaker 10: white hair and dead, and I'm.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Just like, oh, now she's hot.
- 8:17Speaker 5: Brian's secretly gone.
- 8:18Speaker 2: This episode brought to you by the Suicide Girls.
- 8:22Speaker 1: If they want to spy, I mean, that's all they
- 8:23Speaker 1: do is sell out now, so if they want to
- 8:25Speaker 1: kick in some cash, I am all for that.
- 8:27Speaker 5: I liked it when it was just emo chicks taking
- 8:29Speaker 5: pictures of themselves.
- 8:30Speaker 1: That's before they sold out. Anyway.
- 8:34Speaker 5: I have to pick that interesting side note. Because, you know,
- 8:37Speaker 5: it was like, all to build up on that, you know,
- 8:39Speaker 5: I was just like, I don't know on this. I
- 8:41Speaker 5: just have a feeling this is a cash in. So
- 8:43Speaker 5: you tell me it's good. I'll have to, I zombie.
- 8:46Speaker 5: I get, well, see, that's, that's the thing. It's, um, Oh, uh,
- 8:50Speaker 5: Rob Thomas who did Veronica Mars, which.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I still to this day, I think is one of
- 8:56Speaker 1: the best written shows ever period. And, um, it's really
- 9:02Speaker 1: close like there's times that i'm like this is just
- 9:04Speaker 1: the gothy veronica like it even has like this like
- 9:07Speaker 1: voiceover stuff that is straight up exactly the stuff that
- 9:10Speaker 1: used to kick in in the middle of veronica mars
- 9:12Speaker 1: and i'm just like that's half the reason i think
- 9:14Speaker 1: i'm so attached to it but i do like that
- 9:16Speaker 1: they took because again zombies how much can we beat
- 9:20Speaker 1: the hell out of zombies at this point uh about
- 9:22Speaker 1: five years ago you know we were already at the
- 9:23Speaker 1: point of like good god there's a lot of zombies
- 9:26Speaker 1: but it found this new weird spin on it that
- 9:28Speaker 1: I guess is in the comic. But to me, just
- 9:30Speaker 1: in general, like approaching it as a story, the fact
- 9:33Speaker 1: that they've put this weird twist on it where like,
- 9:36Speaker 1: and again, it's so convenient, but real world, the fact
- 9:39Speaker 1: that she found a way to be around brains.
- 9:41Speaker 5: All the time.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Like that's kind of awesome. Like nobody's done that in
- 9:45Speaker 1: something other than this before.
- 9:47Speaker 5: And then the fact that, Eating the brains gives.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Her this weird connection to the person that she just
- 9:52Speaker 1: ate their brains. Oh, it's almost.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Like she eats their memories.
- 9:55Speaker 1: And then, well, she has these weird flashes in her head,
- 9:58Speaker 1: so now like, there's a cop that's investigating that first one.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Now we can solve a crime.
- 10:01Speaker 5: That thinks that she's psychic.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. And she's like, oh, shit, now I
- 10:04Speaker 1: have to pretend like I'm psychic.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Interesting. So, yeah, there's several different parts of it.
- 10:10Speaker 1: And I'm like, this is a cool spin that, like,
- 10:12Speaker 1: I didn't see coming and is done pretty well.
- 10:15Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 10:16Speaker 5: I can see where that almost has a Shaun of
- 10:19Speaker 5: the Dead kind of play.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's fun, but it does have some dark moments.
- 10:23Speaker 1: They so far have not been afraid to introduce a
- 10:28Speaker 1: character and then off them pretty quickly. And I'm like, wow,
- 10:31Speaker 1: that's not always done on TV shows in particular. So yeah,
- 10:35Speaker 1: it's been kind of an interesting run. So I like that.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Not Daredevil, but that nice side note there. It's still
- 10:43Speaker 1: based on a comic. Comic fanboy geek talk. But yeah,
- 10:49Speaker 1: that's what I'm saying. That's one of the few that
- 10:50Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, I'll try to actually sit.
- 10:52Speaker 5: Down and watch it.
- 10:53Speaker 1: But I knew Daredevil was something special when I was
- 10:56Speaker 1: actually like, shit, I need to watch another episode. I
- 11:00Speaker 1: don't ever do that.
- 11:01Speaker 2: It doesn't happen anymore.
- 11:02Speaker 1: The few that I've watched on Netflix in a row,
- 11:05Speaker 1: I'm just like, oh my god. It's so grueling to
- 11:07Speaker 1: me that it's 12 to 15 hours worth of time
- 11:11Speaker 1: logged in. I'm like, I just finished this so I
- 11:13Speaker 1: can stop watching them.
- 11:14Speaker 5: And I'm not like that with Daredevil.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I was like, Oh my God, it's almost over.
- 11:17Speaker 5: What the hell am I going to do then?
- 11:18Speaker 1: I want more.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I need more goddamn Daredevil.
- 11:20Speaker 5: Anything for a reason to watch it again. I'm watching
- 11:22Speaker 5: it with the girlfriend now, but you know, like I
- 11:25Speaker 5: probably would have watched it a second time anyway. I
- 11:26Speaker 5: think it was, I absorbed it. I think I would,
- 11:30Speaker 5: I found out, you know, usually I'm, I'm good about
- 11:32Speaker 5: stuff like this. Like the day it comes out, being
- 11:34Speaker 5: on it and something happened where someone posted something on
- 11:36Speaker 5: Facebook or something about Daredevil. And I was just like,
- 11:38Speaker 5: Holy F I missed it. Like, It had been out
- 11:41Speaker 5: for two or three days, and I was still behind
- 11:44Speaker 5: the times.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I know.
- 11:45Speaker 5: Why even try? I watched all 12 episodes in three days.
- 11:49Speaker 5: It was like four episodes a day for the weekend,
- 11:52Speaker 5: and I was just like, oh my gosh.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Again, I would have called you out for that, except
- 11:57Speaker 1: when I started watching Daredevil. I was like, oh, that's
- 12:00Speaker 1: not bad. Four a day, I can deal with that.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I guess to really get into it now, I feel
- 12:05Speaker 1: like the.
- 12:09Speaker 5: The storytelling was so much richer than any of the
- 12:12Speaker 5: other Marvel experiences to this point. Like, you know, when
- 12:15Speaker 5: you have 12 hours to elaborate on a pilot instead
- 12:18Speaker 5: of like one and a half, two, you know, which
- 12:21Speaker 5: is why, you know, he does spend so much time
- 12:24Speaker 5: in that, you know, black attire. Like, you know, you
- 12:28Speaker 5: have to kind of keep in mind this entire project
- 12:32Speaker 5: is the pilot. It's not like the first couple episodes
- 12:34Speaker 5: are the pilot and we're going to get into it. Like,
- 12:37Speaker 5: He's a complicated character and he has complicated villains. And
- 12:40Speaker 5: so they took the time to fully elaborate.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Which is genius and which is the way it should be.
- 12:45Speaker 5: Hell's Kitchen is such a big deal anyway.
- 12:47Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 12:47Speaker 5: You know, I mean, now, man, I mean, things you
- 12:50Speaker 5: could do with a Spider-Man cameo or a Punisher cameo
- 12:53Speaker 5: now is just.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Worth everything.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Like, it's just like, oh my God. They're like two episodes.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Why?
- 13:00Speaker 5: The infamous scene at the end of episode two, which
- 13:02Speaker 5: is just literally like, I don't know if it's given...
- 13:07Speaker 5: an homage or a middle finger to Oldboy, but either way, man,
- 13:12Speaker 5: I was just like, where's the Punisher? Where's Frank Castle?
- 13:15Speaker 5: This is the perfect atmosphere and environment.
- 13:18Speaker 2: And why isn't he played by Bane?
- 13:20Speaker 9: Oh, no.
- 13:21Speaker 5: Did you hear who wants to do it?
- 13:22Speaker 2: Who?
- 13:23Speaker 5: Oldboy from Mad Max.
- 13:25Speaker 1: No, Bane.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Was that him?
- 13:28Speaker 1: Tom Hardy.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Tom Hardy wants to be Bane.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Wow, I really did hate that movie, didn't I?
- 13:32Speaker 2: Because you blocked out the best character. The best actor.
- 13:36Speaker 5: You're going to get me ranting, dude. Bane is not
- 13:39Speaker 5: some white English dude. It bugged me before I even
- 13:42Speaker 5: sat in the theater.
- 13:43Speaker 2: South African.
- 13:44Speaker 5: We're going to get that straight. South American. He's like Brazilian,
- 13:49Speaker 5: I believe, right? Isn't the actual Bane from Brazil? I
- 13:52Speaker 5: have no idea.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I'm just making shit up as I go along.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Anyway, that dude would be he's pretty good and just
- 13:58Speaker 1: about everything i've seen him and he's pretty damn impressive so.
- 14:02Speaker 5: Yeah stoked yeah that uh i've told most people to
- 14:05Speaker 5: like you know people that maybe aren't in the comics
- 14:08Speaker 5: you know people i'm trying to you know bring over
- 14:10Speaker 5: it's like you know if you watch daredevil just do
- 14:13Speaker 5: me a favor and watch two think of it as
- 14:15Speaker 5: a movie watch two because when you get to.
- 14:18Speaker 2: The end of that second one.
- 14:20Speaker 5: Those first two alone, if you're not hooked, you're not
- 14:22Speaker 5: going to be hooked. But you're probably going to be hooked.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I think it works because it's kind of not comic book-y,
- 14:28Speaker 1: just the way that it's set up. I mean, it
- 14:29Speaker 1: spends so much time hanging out in the law office.
- 14:31Speaker 1: I'm like, it's kind of not a comic book.
- 14:33Speaker 5: It's so light in its references. They're there. And when
- 14:35Speaker 5: they're there, they're fun. Like, I forget the complete context
- 14:40Speaker 5: with someone's someone failed, someone's getting ripped to shreds by
- 14:44Speaker 5: his mob boss, and when a guy's making excuses, he
- 14:47Speaker 5: says something like, unless the guy was wielding a hammer
- 14:51Speaker 5: or flying in a metal suit, I don't want to
- 14:54Speaker 5: hear it. Something making reference to Thor and Iron Man.
- 14:57Speaker 5: I was like, see, I dig that. I like that
- 14:59Speaker 5: you acknowledge this is still in the universe, but not
- 15:01Speaker 5: everything has to be fantastic, which it's not in Daredevil's realm.
- 15:05Speaker 5: I think the genius part.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Is that I think the very first episode there where
- 15:09Speaker 1: they're talking about why they get such a deal on
- 15:11Speaker 1: that space to put the law. It's because the Battle
- 15:15Speaker 1: of New York and like most people will not get
- 15:17Speaker 1: that reference.
- 15:18Speaker 10: But like for Marvel geeks, they're like, oh, my God,
- 15:20Speaker 10: it's the same universe.
- 15:21Speaker 9: Yes.
- 15:22Speaker 5: You know, so I'm like, it is funny that.
- 15:24Speaker 1: And at the end, they bring that back around where
- 15:26Speaker 1: you see the shots of that happening. And it is
- 15:30Speaker 1: funny that that is such a monumental thing within the
- 15:34Speaker 1: universe that it has all these little, well, not little, obviously,
- 15:38Speaker 1: but it's still, like years later, it will have these
- 15:40Speaker 1: after effects that have affected the entire city and the
- 15:43Speaker 1: entire world as it goes on.
- 15:45Speaker 5: Which is going to help it make a lot more
- 15:46Speaker 5: sense in its overall universe whenever Civil War stuff starts
- 15:50Speaker 5: to happen. Because it's... I'm sure it's going to be
- 15:53Speaker 5: a bit different from the comics reading how they're going
- 15:55Speaker 5: to do it, but it's still going to have to
- 15:56Speaker 5: do with collateral damage. It's still going to have to
- 15:58Speaker 5: do with these superheroes. Yeah, you've got to fight at
- 16:01Speaker 5: this level to stop these guys, but it doesn't mean
- 16:04Speaker 5: that people are going to be happy that you just
- 16:05Speaker 5: obliterated half their city. So it's like seeing how their
- 16:12Speaker 5: actions in Avengers movie led to... all this crime and
- 16:16Speaker 5: all this poverty, you know, it just, it's going to
- 16:18Speaker 5: add so much more relevance when the civil war movie happened.
- 16:20Speaker 5: Cause they're going to be able to name drop this
- 16:21Speaker 5: stuff and just be like, well, look at, look at
- 16:23Speaker 5: hell's kitchen. You guys completely like decimated a quarter of
- 16:28Speaker 5: the city. And it's just, you know, it's all crime.
- 16:30Speaker 1: And, and speaking of hell's kitchen, not that I'm usually, uh,
- 16:35Speaker 1: on board with this, but midway into the run of
- 16:38Speaker 1: this series, I was just like, okay, for geeks out
- 16:40Speaker 1: there who want a drinking game, every time they say
- 16:43Speaker 1: the city, uh, I mean, Kingpin is going to give
- 16:46Speaker 1: some people alcohol poisoning because it is so often that
- 16:49Speaker 1: he goes on about his love for the city. A
- 16:52Speaker 1: couple of times an episode, at least, there is a
- 16:55Speaker 1: rant about the city. Just like, there's your drinking game.
- 16:59Speaker 2: That's what makes it dark and gritty, though.
- 17:01Speaker 9: It does.
- 17:01Speaker 1: But he's always so preachy about it, though. He's so
- 17:04Speaker 1: not dark and gritty about it.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Thank God it's Vincent D'Onofrio. He's so cool.
- 17:08Speaker 5: Fucking you know going into it i was real skeptical.
- 17:10Speaker 2: I was skeptical too but when you see him and
- 17:12Speaker 2: then you're reminded of like the cell and and those
- 17:15Speaker 2: things you're like nobody could character act such a weird
- 17:20Speaker 2: fucking character to begin with better it's just one of
- 17:23Speaker 2: those super villains that it's like you need the best
- 17:26Speaker 2: actor like it would it's either vincent d'onofrio like daniel
- 17:28Speaker 2: day lewis and they couldn't get danny.
- 17:30Speaker 5: Well you know and it's like i bulk up a
- 17:31Speaker 5: little bit i i As the show was going on,
- 17:36Speaker 5: and I was liking him as Kingpin, there was a
- 17:38Speaker 5: part of me that... And I've done this with a
- 17:40Speaker 5: bunch of other characters as just geeks stuff, probably from
- 17:44Speaker 5: watching this. But immediately, I was just like, I want
- 17:46Speaker 5: Kingpin to be bigger so I can see him interact
- 17:48Speaker 5: with other superheroes. I love the way he's acting so much.
- 17:52Speaker 5: I want him to have a back and forth with
- 17:54Speaker 5: Tony Stark slash Robert Downey Jr. I want him to
- 17:56Speaker 5: have a back and forth with Chris Evans. That's what
- 18:00Speaker 5: I think is so... exciting you know before we got
- 18:03Speaker 5: the Avengers movies it was when we got them all
- 18:05Speaker 5: individually we knew that they were going to come together
- 18:07Speaker 5: like oh my gosh it's going to be so awesome
- 18:08Speaker 5: seeing this guy and this guy and I'm already feeling
- 18:11Speaker 5: that with Daredevil I'm like hopefully with season 2 we
- 18:14Speaker 5: can work in some cameos or something because Kingpin is
- 18:17Speaker 5: so great and he's so more relatable I don't want
- 18:21Speaker 5: to say than the comic but the way that they
- 18:22Speaker 5: really showed you both sides of the coin with him
- 18:26Speaker 5: is just like I don't hate him I'm terrified of him,
- 18:31Speaker 5: but I don't hate him, if that makes sense. That's
- 18:33Speaker 5: what I thought was.
- 18:34Speaker 1: So good about it, is that they don't just make
- 18:36Speaker 1: him a big caricature of a villain. You spend a
- 18:39Speaker 1: couple episodes, and you really are kind of like, he's
- 18:42Speaker 1: really not that bad a guy.
- 18:44Speaker 5: He's a product of the environment. Again, it goes back
- 18:47Speaker 5: to the whole battle in New York, and I'm sure
- 18:48Speaker 5: his childhood was before that, but it is still, he's
- 18:51Speaker 5: the product of his environment. Again, trying to say a
- 18:56Speaker 5: little spoiler-free, but you see that he wasn't a bad
- 18:59Speaker 5: person when he was.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Young and you also see how professional he is like
- 19:05Speaker 1: everything and he never really gets himself he never really
- 19:09Speaker 1: gets violent over business right the only time he ever
- 19:13Speaker 1: loses it is when it gets personal right if you
- 19:15Speaker 1: cross that line into somebody that he cares about do
- 19:18Speaker 1: not embarrass him he will lose it but other than
- 19:21Speaker 1: that like you never see he will have people killed
- 19:24Speaker 1: for business reasons, but he still is not ever emotionally involved.
- 19:28Speaker 1: It is just, it is business. And this is what
- 19:30Speaker 1: I do in the city.
- 19:31Speaker 10: But that, and like, that's such an interesting.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Performance because again, I think if you gave it to
- 19:37Speaker 1: a lesser, everybody involved, lesser writers, a lesser performer, like
- 19:43Speaker 1: they would just be like, Oh, he's a big dumb
- 19:44Speaker 1: villain all the time. But like the fact that he
- 19:46Speaker 1: kind of plays it so subtle in the beginning that
- 19:49Speaker 1: you're like, this guy's not so bad and then when
- 19:52Speaker 1: you see him lose it you're like oh oh.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Shit yeah like that's he's the episode four yeah like
- 19:58Speaker 3: i said same spoiler free but the first time you
- 20:00Speaker 3: see him lose it man you know i used to
- 20:03Speaker 3: think american history x had a shocking moment not anymore
- 20:07Speaker 3: you have been two upped I want to like, to me,
- 20:10Speaker 3: that was like a two up.
- 20:11Speaker 5: I was like, wow.
- 20:13Speaker 1: See, here's the sad thing is that part. I didn't
- 20:16Speaker 1: find near as shocking as other people that were telling
- 20:18Speaker 1: me about it. I was like, were you talking about
- 20:20Speaker 1: four when the, you know, they were like, yeah. And
- 20:23Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, see, yeah. Well, I was, no, the
- 20:25Speaker 1: sad part was like right before that I was calling
- 20:27Speaker 1: it out. I was like, well, you're obviously good.
- 20:29Speaker 5: You're right there. Like I was looking at the framing.
- 20:32Speaker 5: I'm like, well, the dude's right. So you're gonna.
- 20:34Speaker 1: And like, so then when he did, I was like,
- 20:35Speaker 1: of course, that's what you were going to do. I'm like, Oh,
- 20:38Speaker 1: I'm a horrible, evil person.
- 20:40Speaker 2: So on a side note, Brian's a supervillain.
- 20:41Speaker 5: That's possibly true.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I just need that funding from the city.
- 20:48Speaker 5: It reminded me of, you know, after seeing like Reservoir
- 20:52Speaker 5: Dogs ages ago and you tell everybody about the ear scene,
- 20:55Speaker 5: you know, and some people were just like, what? It
- 20:56Speaker 5: wasn't that bad. And you're like, what is wrong with you?
- 20:58Speaker 5: Have you ever cut a person's ear off? And it
- 21:01Speaker 5: was because it was kind of filmed that same way.
- 21:02Speaker 5: It leaves, you know what's going on. You hear what's
- 21:05Speaker 5: going on.
- 21:05Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 21:06Speaker 5: But it leaves your imagination to really decide how disgusting
- 21:11Speaker 5: this is. And apparently I have a vivid imagination because
- 21:14Speaker 5: every time gore is filmed this way, I think it's
- 21:17Speaker 5: insane even though you don't actually see a thing. There's
- 21:21Speaker 5: some viscera. There's some drippage, but you don't see it.
- 21:26Speaker 5: But I was still just like, and it felt like
- 21:29Speaker 5: the longest scene in the world. Watching it a second time,
- 21:31Speaker 5: it's probably only about 20 seconds? But to me, it
- 21:34Speaker 5: felt like three minutes. I'm like, oh my God, is
- 21:36Speaker 5: this going to stop? Is this ever going to stop?
- 21:39Speaker 1: You're crying on the floor.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Oh God, oh God, make it stop. So that's why
- 21:45Speaker 5: I actually, because I'm sure, you know, again, someone's going
- 21:50Speaker 5: to talk about the voice because there's a little bit
- 21:52Speaker 5: of Batman.
- 21:53Speaker 9: You mean?
- 21:53Speaker 1: I didn't think it was too bad.
- 21:54Speaker 5: The Daredevil. Like, you know, with Daredevil, it was a
- 21:58Speaker 5: little like, why are you doing it? Kingpin may come
- 22:02Speaker 5: sense to me, though, because I felt like he's like
- 22:05Speaker 5: the Hulk. He's just this dude that has this insane
- 22:10Speaker 5: temper and brutal rage just beneath the surface, and it's
- 22:16Speaker 5: just visible and audible. You can just hear in his
- 22:19Speaker 5: voice he wants to overreact at all times. So when
- 22:23Speaker 5: you're giving him bad news and he kind of goes
- 22:25Speaker 5: into that voice, it's almost like a red light flashing
- 22:29Speaker 5: like B- Be careful with everything you're about to say
- 22:34Speaker 5: and do because he might just snap. So I pardoned
- 22:38Speaker 5: him on a voice. There was a couple times where
- 22:40Speaker 5: Daredevil got a little growling. I'm like, you're a little boy.
- 22:43Speaker 1: You're a little boy.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Quit growling.
- 22:45Speaker 1: I feel like it's not so bad.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Jump around and do your flips.
- 22:48Speaker 5: I feel like when he did it, it was when
- 22:49Speaker 5: it was people. It was much more methodical. Batman seemed
- 22:52Speaker 5: to just do it 24-7. I felt like Matt was
- 22:57Speaker 5: doing it when it was people he was going to
- 22:59Speaker 5: have to talk to in his regular life. It was cops.
- 23:02Speaker 5: It was, you know, associates. It was people where it's like, okay,
- 23:06Speaker 5: he has to kind of hide his voice a little
- 23:07Speaker 5: here where Batman just did it to everybody.
- 23:09Speaker 2: People always call me out when I do it at work.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it, it was surprising. I think how
- 23:15Speaker 1: much the weird mask, cause it seems like there's still
- 23:17Speaker 1: so much of him, but I'm like, all right, you
- 23:20Speaker 1: might not, you might not know. Like, To me, it
- 23:23Speaker 1: almost was more the fact that, like, at first I
- 23:25Speaker 1: was like, that's kind of awesomely creepy that it has
- 23:27Speaker 1: no eye holes.
- 23:28Speaker 10: Like, he's not pretending. Like, he's just like, I can't,
- 23:31Speaker 10: you know, it's.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Totally covering my face. But it's worse than fucking Clark
- 23:33Speaker 2: Kent because it's like, well, if you're blind and.
- 23:35Speaker 1: My lawyer is blind.
- 23:36Speaker 5: I was, like, midway into him talking with people he knows.
- 23:39Speaker 5: I'm like, okay, you obviously can't see through that thing.
- 23:42Speaker 1: So, like, either you're magical psychic and you can.
- 23:44Speaker 5: Like, know what's going on, which is kind of true.
- 23:46Speaker 1: But on top of that, I'm like, if you're narrowing
- 23:48Speaker 1: the field of who this guy could be in the
- 23:50Speaker 1: real world, I don't know, that blind guy over there?
- 23:53Speaker 5: Who also seems to find the doorknob really easy? It
- 23:55Speaker 5: does seem to be a giveaway.
- 23:56Speaker 2: I know exactly where to go now.
- 23:58Speaker 1: So finally, once the suit comes into play, I'm like,
- 24:00Speaker 1: at least then you can't really tell so much, so
- 24:03Speaker 1: that works okay.
- 24:04Speaker 5: I'm still on the fence on the actual suit.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I'm glad that they're taking a long time getting to it,
- 24:08Speaker 2: because I think the suit's retarded. But that's just me.
- 24:11Speaker 2: I kind of think that it's gimmicky.
- 24:12Speaker 5: I do think season two will see a revamp. I
- 24:14Speaker 5: think what you're going to get Cause I feel like
- 24:17Speaker 5: it's kind of general opinion. Like, it seems like no
- 24:20Speaker 5: one's very excited about the suit itself. And then, and
- 24:22Speaker 5: I think they'll do a, you know, that was, you know,
- 24:27Speaker 5: prototype number one. I think we'll get a different suit
- 24:30Speaker 5: in season two.
- 24:31Speaker 2: He just comes out in his little ninja outfit and
- 24:33Speaker 2: it's like, you know what? Thank you. Cause Iron Man,
- 24:36Speaker 2: you need a fucking suit. But like this guy, like
- 24:38Speaker 2: when Ben Affleck starts sewing and I'm.
- 24:40Speaker 5: Like, yeah, you're blind and you're selling like, right. Let's just, I, I,
- 24:45Speaker 5: I get your special, but you're, a blind person. So
- 24:48Speaker 5: in a suit, am I the.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Only one though, that like when he does these fights
- 24:51Speaker 2: and he's being thrown from building to building or running
- 24:53Speaker 2: after people, am I the only one that wants him
- 24:55Speaker 2: to be like, just stop and go like, where the
- 24:57Speaker 2: fuck am I? I forgot to count. Was that North?
- 25:00Speaker 1: Shit. My favorite actually is cause, and I almost like,
- 25:04Speaker 1: I'm like, I guess they did this on purpose. Cause
- 25:06Speaker 1: there are several times when like, he'll come into the
- 25:09Speaker 1: office as himself and his hair is not combed exactly right.
- 25:13Speaker 1: And I'm like, that's pretty good. If that's on purpose,
- 25:16Speaker 1: like that's an awesome detail.
- 25:18Speaker 5: Cause I'm like, how would you ever fucking know?
- 25:19Speaker 1: Like that's gotta be frustrating.
- 25:21Speaker 5: That is a direct reference eventually.
- 25:22Speaker 7: Right.
- 25:23Speaker 5: Doesn't she kind of call him out towards the end?
- 25:25Speaker 5: I think so. Someone does something like, you know, does
- 25:28Speaker 5: he say it? I think he said, he's talking about
- 25:31Speaker 5: people that, you know, ask blind people questions. He's like,
- 25:33Speaker 5: how do you comb your hair?
- 25:34Speaker 1: And I was like, And then later on when he
- 25:38Speaker 1: came in, I'm like, it's kind of messed up a little.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Just a little bit.
- 25:41Speaker 5: Just enough that you wouldn't know the difference. Everything has
- 25:43Speaker 5: been so methodical in the Marvel stuff. So methodical that
- 25:46Speaker 5: I'm sure this is all over.
- 25:47Speaker 2: It's like people are going to know that his hair
- 25:49Speaker 2: is actually a reference to the Hulk issue 4.
- 25:51Speaker 1: See that girl? See that girl? All I know is
- 25:57Speaker 1: the intro scene has to be sponsored by Maker's Mark.
- 26:01Speaker 2: It has to be sponsored by the same people who
- 26:03Speaker 2: brought you the intro scene to Hannibal.
- 26:06Speaker 5: Is it similar?
- 26:07Speaker 2: It's pretty similar. Blood pouring over shit.
- 26:10Speaker 5: Oh, got you.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 26:12Speaker 5: Man, I dig it, though. I dig it. I want
- 26:14Speaker 5: to see... I usually don't care for his cliche bad guys.
- 26:19Speaker 5: I'm pretty stoked to see Elektra, though. It's not confirmed
- 26:22Speaker 5: at all, but when old Chinese girl went home, I
- 26:24Speaker 5: was like, yeah, you go home. You go bring Elektra
- 26:26Speaker 5: with you next time. Because, you know... Well, here's something
- 26:30Speaker 5: we haven't even started on yet, really. We talked about
- 26:32Speaker 5: how brutal that fight was at the end of episode two,
- 26:34Speaker 5: but the choreography, holy F, these fights go above it, like,
- 26:39Speaker 5: for being realistic. Yeah, that's exactly what I was about
- 26:42Speaker 5: to try to, like, differentiate there. Like, you know, the
- 26:44Speaker 5: action in Avengers 2 is just, like, holy, like, I
- 26:48Speaker 5: was not joking with that comment. I mean, I need
- 26:50Speaker 5: to see it again just to, like, realize what I
- 26:54Speaker 5: just saw. The action is so fast and intense. You know,
- 26:57Speaker 5: there is, like, That one at the end, it was
- 26:59Speaker 5: just doing a 360 pan as they fought. I was
- 27:03Speaker 5: just picking people to watch. I'm like, I can't watch
- 27:05Speaker 5: all this, so I'm going to watch what Thor's doing.
- 27:08Speaker 5: You know, it was like you have to pick someone
- 27:09Speaker 5: because there's so much and it's so awesome.
- 27:11Speaker 2: That's how they fight in Mayberry, apparently.
- 27:14Speaker 5: Daredevil just, man, the choreography. This is not just mindless beat-em-up.
- 27:19Speaker 5: This is good. If any part of you has ever
- 27:21Speaker 5: liked a martial arts movie, any part of you has
- 27:23Speaker 5: ever liked some old John Booth stuff like this.
- 27:25Speaker 2: There he goes, pleading to the internet again.
- 27:27Speaker 1: But it And again, as much as he's jumping around
- 27:31Speaker 1: and doing all this physical stuff, it never feels unreal.
- 27:35Speaker 5: It feels like somebody knows what he's doing. I love
- 27:38Speaker 5: how he gets tired and he'll be leaning. He'll be
- 27:41Speaker 5: leaning up against a wall or a car, and then
- 27:43Speaker 5: just as he's about to get hit, then he pops
- 27:45Speaker 5: back into form and dodges and goes back. You see him...
- 27:50Speaker 5: Getting fatigued, getting hurt. I mean, you really see him
- 27:53Speaker 5: getting hurt. Oh, man.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Again, not to spoil it, but you were talking about
- 27:57Speaker 1: the second episode fight. Like, to me, the one midway
- 28:00Speaker 1: into the run with one of the other bad guys
- 28:02Speaker 1: will say, that is brutal.
- 28:05Speaker 5: Like, it is hardcore. So, I don't know.
- 28:10Speaker 1: It's all just so well choreographed and pieced together. All
- 28:14Speaker 1: of the fights are very real-world fights. So, again, I
- 28:17Speaker 1: give him credit for that, that it doesn't seem like
- 28:19Speaker 1: a bad CG effect all the.
- 28:21Speaker 5: Time that he's doing.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Like, it feels like this guy or whoever, like it
- 28:25Speaker 1: feels like it is a physical person doing it and
- 28:28Speaker 1: it could happen. If you were that skilled at it,
- 28:30Speaker 1: all of these things could actually happen.
- 28:32Speaker 8: Right.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Bounce off of a fire escape and disappear over the
- 28:35Speaker 1: building and you're like.
- 28:36Speaker 5: That could happen. Off the wall kicks he would pull off.
- 28:41Speaker 5: I'm just like, that's so... I'm not trying to be
- 28:45Speaker 5: too unrealistic about this, but we'll watch a lot of
- 28:47Speaker 5: martial arts and there's a lot of things in fights
- 28:49Speaker 5: where you're just like, when would you ever really do that?
- 28:52Speaker 5: Come on. When would you really do that kick? That's
- 28:54Speaker 5: just pretty. It's not functional.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Somehow he makes those kind really functional. There's stuff that
- 29:00Speaker 1: seems so impractical when he'll flip upside down but then
- 29:04Speaker 1: his foot will land on their head and i'm just
- 29:06Speaker 1: like okay the fact that you could ever choreograph that
- 29:09Speaker 1: right and not have supersonic bat powers is like would
- 29:12Speaker 1: be impractical or impossible but like when he lands it
- 29:16Speaker 1: and it totally annihilates that guy.
- 29:17Speaker 5: I'm like oh that's awesome and it was great like
- 29:20Speaker 5: in that hallway scene there's um he pulls one of
- 29:22Speaker 5: those kicks like getting around the door and it's like
- 29:25Speaker 5: that kind of stuff was like it makes sense You know,
- 29:27Speaker 5: like he jumps, kicks off the wall, get on the
- 29:29Speaker 5: door and turns it into an offensive maneuver. It's like this.
- 29:32Speaker 5: This works. It's smart. It's realistic.
- 29:35Speaker 1: That's everything about it. It works.
- 29:37Speaker 5: It's smart. It's realistic.
- 29:38Speaker 9: Daredevil.
- 29:39Speaker 5: So.
- 29:40Speaker 8: Up.
- 29:40Speaker 5: That's our plug there for our Marvel super special.
- 29:44Speaker 1: So we will take our break here, and we will
- 29:47Speaker 1: come back and get into the Age of Ultron.

- 31:06Speaker 8: A secret experiment gave one man the strength of a hundred.
- 31:10Speaker 5: The rest of the world, he's just codenamed Captain America.
- 31:13Speaker 8: And the power to save millions.
- 31:15Speaker 6: The gerrysand experimental rocket ready to fire.
- 31:18Speaker 5: And a target somewhere in the United States.
- 31:21Speaker 8: Only he could defeat a superhuman madman.
- 31:23Speaker 6: We got a fella called the Red Skull heading up
- 31:26Speaker 6: there out of him.
- 31:27Speaker 5: All's we can hope to get in there is one
- 31:29Speaker 5: good man.
- 31:34Speaker 8: Trapped in an icy grave until fate released him to
- 31:38Speaker 8: finish a battle started decades ago yeah he's still alive
- 31:41Speaker 8: we don't know where he is or who he is
- 31:44Speaker 8: now an evil genius is on the verge of global domination.
- 31:48Speaker 5: Captain america you gotta help.
- 31:50Speaker 8: Us and only captain america can stop him Ronnie Cox,
- 31:59Speaker 8: Ned Beatty, Darren McGavin, Kim Gillingham.
- 32:02Speaker 5: Scott Pollan as the Red Skull, and Matt.
- 32:05Speaker 8: Salinger as the Marvel Comics hero, Captain America.
- 32:11Speaker 5: Hey, Misty, do you have your earbuds strapped in?
- 32:13Speaker 1: I do not. Well, that's probably because you didn't go
- 32:16Speaker 1: to tweakedaudio.com and get your tweaked audio earbuds because they're awesome.
- 32:21Speaker 1: I don't like things in my ears.
- 32:23Speaker 10: You're the worst pitch person ever.
- 32:25Speaker 11: I am.
- 32:27Speaker 5: I have mine.
- 32:27Speaker 1: They're awesome. They're the wood ones. They're deluxe. Look at
- 32:30Speaker 1: this shit. That's hardwood. I guess if I were to
- 32:33Speaker 1: shove any implement in my ear, it would be those.
- 32:36Speaker 1: We don't recommend you shove anything else in your ear.
- 32:37Speaker 1: That's kind of why we were hooked up with Tweaked Audio.
- 32:40Speaker 1: It's the only thing we recommend you shove in your

- 33:00Speaker 1: than 5% discount? Not that 5% discount that you were
- 33:02Speaker 1: looking at in that catalog. The discount you will be
- 33:05Speaker 1: getting from Tweaked Audio will be a hell of a
- 33:07Speaker 1: lot better than the 5%. It's a third off.
- 33:09Speaker 5: You get a third off.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Holy shit. If I had math, that would be awesome.
- 33:13Speaker 5: And free shipping.

- 33:20Speaker 1: were there. They were like lightning fast. Like the lightning

- 33:27Speaker 1: You're welcome, Tweaked Audio.

- 33:38Speaker 5: You're welcome.
- 33:39Speaker 1: They're not going to like me promoting their item, are they? Actually,

- 34:12Speaker 1: Hi, I'm Leah Thompson. You're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 34:15Speaker 6: My God.
- 34:16Speaker 5: This relationship, it defies all the laws of nature.
- 34:19Speaker 1: No, it doesn't.
- 34:21Speaker 2: This is not what you think. We're just very good friends.
- 34:28Speaker 8: Get more out of life.
- 34:30Speaker 7: Go out to a movie.
- 34:45Speaker 9: I was designed to save the world.
- 34:52Speaker 6: People would look to the sky and see hope. I'll
- 35:01Speaker 6: take that from them first. There's only one path to peace.
- 35:10Speaker 6: Their extinction.
- 35:16Speaker 9: I tried to create a suit of armor around the world.
- 35:19Speaker 5: But I created something terrible.
- 35:22Speaker 6: Artificial intelligence.
- 35:25Speaker 5: It's called the Ultron Program.
- 35:29Speaker 6: I'm sick of watching people pay for our mistakes.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Isn't why we fight so we can end the fight
- 35:36Speaker 2: and go home?
- 35:38Speaker 5: Well, you amazingly failed. Here we all are.
- 35:50Speaker 2: There's nothing but our wit and our will to save
- 35:55Speaker 2: the world.
- 35:56Speaker 7: So stand and fight.
- 35:59Speaker 5: No way we all get through this. I got no
- 36:01Speaker 5: plans tomorrow night.
- 36:05Speaker 2: I'm always picking up after you boys.
- 36:09Speaker 6: We can tear them apart. From the inside.
- 36:25Speaker 9: Alright, we are back.
- 36:42Speaker 5: And Patrick's been abducted.
- 36:43Speaker 1: We're not really sure. He wandered off and we haven't
- 36:47Speaker 1: seen him. We're He said something about he had an
- 36:50Speaker 1: appointment with a Mr.
- 36:51Speaker 7: Fisk.
- 36:54Speaker 5: And then he made fun of his mom or something.
- 36:56Speaker 1: I don't know what he did.
- 36:57Speaker 5: Did he say he was going to go meet him
- 36:59Speaker 5: at the restaurant or something? Pretty sure he'd be there.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Right after he said he loves Superman. He can't wait
- 37:09Speaker 1: for Batman v Superman. It's his favorite movie.
- 37:13Speaker 5: He knows it.
- 37:15Speaker 1: We're basically just going to make fun of Patrick Till.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Maybe he resurfaces, but In the meantime, I guess we'll
- 37:21Speaker 1: get going on the movie. So we actually, again, it's
- 37:25Speaker 1: always shocking when geeks leave the house. We actually went
- 37:28Speaker 1: out into the world and saw this movie. So that
- 37:31Speaker 1: makes it for once the out on the town feature
- 37:34Speaker 1: this week is Avengers colon Age of Ultron.
- 37:39Speaker 5: The year is 2015. Director Joss Whedon.
- 37:42Speaker 1: The plot, according to IMDb, when Tony Stark and Bruce
- 37:46Speaker 1: Banner try to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program called Ultron,
- 37:50Speaker 1: Things go horribly wrong, and it's up to Earth's mightiest
- 37:52Speaker 1: heroes to stop the villainous Ultron from enacting his terrible plans.
- 37:57Speaker 10: Spoiler alert.
- 37:59Speaker 1: No, seriously. I know this is a new movie, but
- 38:01Speaker 1: we're going to go full in on this one and
- 38:04Speaker 1: just reveal things you probably don't want to know about
- 38:06Speaker 1: if you haven't seen the movie.
- 38:07Speaker 5: So go watch the movie. You have been warned. Where
- 38:13Speaker 5: would you like to begin? I guess from the beginning.
- 38:18Speaker 5: All right.
- 38:20Speaker 1: I think that's what I noticed going in is like
- 38:24Speaker 1: Joss realized his money shot and just like, well, we're
- 38:28Speaker 1: just going to start with that. Because, I mean, Avengers 1,
- 38:32Speaker 1: we get that sweeping shot around the city that just
- 38:35Speaker 1: watching them all fight and then that big hero shot
- 38:38Speaker 1: of all of them together. And he's like, oh, no,
- 38:40Speaker 1: I'm going to start this movie like that. So, I mean,
- 38:43Speaker 1: you get that battle through the woods and it's just
- 38:46Speaker 1: leaping from one to the other. And then we get the, like,
- 38:50Speaker 1: it's not cool enough that they're all jumping. We're going
- 38:52Speaker 1: to slow-mo it so you guys can go, oh, cool.
- 38:55Speaker 1: It's so cool.
- 38:57Speaker 10: Yeah, so geeks everywhere just lost their shit.
- 39:00Speaker 1: And I was just like, now he knows.
- 39:03Speaker 5: Like, it's not that he didn't already know. Now that
- 39:04Speaker 5: I have your attention. I know I'm a geek god anyway, but, like,
- 39:08Speaker 5: watch this.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Like, before we even get through the intro scene here, yeah, you're.
- 39:13Speaker 5: Going to lose it. I think to some degree that was...
- 39:17Speaker 5: I don't even think that was like about story writing
- 39:21Speaker 5: and about, you know, it was more of like, OK, look,
- 39:24Speaker 5: when this movie drops, it will have been like what
- 39:27Speaker 5: four five years since the first one it's like we're
- 39:30Speaker 5: gonna get you guys in that frame of mind real
- 39:32Speaker 5: quick it's like you've been waiting for it here it
- 39:34Speaker 5: is like right off the bat boom get the adrenaline
- 39:37Speaker 5: going get your attention get the eyes dilated we're back.
- 39:40Speaker 1: We're on like it never ended yeah I mean it
- 39:45Speaker 1: did get right back into that and I think that's
- 39:48Speaker 1: what I kind of took from it. Cause afterwards I
- 39:51Speaker 1: remember like not, I don't know. By the end, it's like,
- 39:55Speaker 1: I wasn't as overwhelmed as I assumed, I guess I
- 39:58Speaker 1: would be. But I think it's because I was just
- 40:01Speaker 1: right back into that mode. And I think that in
- 40:03Speaker 1: a way is like a good thing because I, I was,
- 40:05Speaker 1: I think that first time I was so caught off
- 40:08Speaker 1: guard because it's like, it was this culmination of everything
- 40:12Speaker 1: for years that we'd never seen happen before. And then
- 40:15Speaker 1: interactions were so good. Yeah.
- 40:18Speaker 5: That like i'm like oh no.
- 40:20Speaker 1: It all paid off really like you did it like.
- 40:22Speaker 5: You made it happen and it was awesome so it's.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Like i think the other alternative would have been for
- 40:27Speaker 1: it to suck but because it didn't by the end
- 40:28Speaker 1: i was just like oh no that was good that
- 40:30Speaker 1: was that was what i.
- 40:31Speaker 5: Wanted like that was right back into it just like
- 40:33Speaker 5: so i.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Think that was my takeaway was more like i didn't
- 40:36Speaker 1: have a weird different feeling because he did what he
- 40:39Speaker 1: needed to do like he just kept it going at
- 40:42Speaker 1: the level it was and maybe even improved upon it
- 40:45Speaker 1: a little bit. So I think that was my like
- 40:47Speaker 1: feeling going out of the theater. It was just like, yep,
- 40:51Speaker 1: that's what I wanted. Like he knows what he's doing.
- 40:53Speaker 5: You know, it's like, there was a part of me about,
- 40:55Speaker 5: you know, I'm sure we'll bring it up more, but
- 40:57Speaker 5: there is, there's some dramatic pacing contrast. And it's not
- 41:02Speaker 5: that the first one was ever like, you know, high
- 41:05Speaker 5: then low, but you get a high and low in this.
- 41:08Speaker 5: I felt like immediately it was like a big high,
- 41:11Speaker 5: and what feels like a low because then the tones
- 41:13Speaker 5: just brought down so much for a good 15, 20 minutes.
- 41:17Speaker 5: But it's, to me, there was like a much more tangible,
- 41:22Speaker 5: like I think its function has changed. I think with
- 41:25Speaker 5: the first Avengers, it was showing you, you know, the plan. Like,
- 41:29Speaker 5: you know, you had all these solo movies and look,
- 41:32Speaker 5: guess what? They're all here. We didn't have to waste
- 41:34Speaker 5: time with pilots. We didn't have to waste time with backgrounds.
- 41:36Speaker 5: Just they're here. They're going to do it. You know,
- 41:38Speaker 5: it's going on. Let's move forward. I felt like the
- 41:41Speaker 5: function for Avengers two, when I would guess will be
- 41:44Speaker 5: at a function even more so for Avengers three is
- 41:48Speaker 5: it's almost like this is the first chapter of a
- 41:51Speaker 5: new book. Like it's like, okay, because there was so many, man,
- 41:56Speaker 5: if you haven't read comics, you just have no idea
- 41:58Speaker 5: how many Easter egg type things there wasn't. There was
- 42:00Speaker 5: so many people, there was nothing in that movie was
- 42:03Speaker 5: an accident. every person they talked to every location they
- 42:07Speaker 5: went to all this stuff matters like you know i
- 42:13Speaker 5: know it's his whole kind of running thing to kind
- 42:14Speaker 5: of like emulate star wars and people getting their hands
- 42:16Speaker 5: chopped off but you know the the dude that plays
- 42:19Speaker 5: gollum right yeah wasn't it him and eric getting his
- 42:22Speaker 5: hand chopped off he's he's a big deal he's a
- 42:24Speaker 5: big big baddie later on he'll I assume being the
- 42:27Speaker 5: Black Panther movie. That wasn't an accident. It's not just
- 42:29Speaker 5: some dude at a control panel. That was kind of
- 42:31Speaker 5: his origin story in a way. He's going to do
- 42:34Speaker 5: something with his hand, come back a big bad guy.
- 42:36Speaker 5: The location they went to for the vibranium, again, that
- 42:39Speaker 5: was another reference to Black Panther. That's what I heard.
- 42:42Speaker 1: I'd heard that one, if you go back, is planted
- 42:46Speaker 1: way earlier than that.
- 42:47Speaker 5: If you go.
- 42:48Speaker 1: I think maybe it's the first Avengers, if not one
- 42:52Speaker 1: of the Iron Man, but I think it's the first
- 42:54Speaker 1: Avengers because they give... the Tony Stark, that like file
- 42:57Speaker 1: of like, and he like throws all the maps up
- 42:59Speaker 1: on the wall. And one of them is that location
- 43:02Speaker 1: in Africa where they go, where it's eventually going to
- 43:05Speaker 1: be how the whole.
- 43:06Speaker 5: Black Panther movie starts.
- 43:07Speaker 1: And like how many years, because the black Panther movie
- 43:10Speaker 1: is not coming out for what, like two or three
- 43:12Speaker 1: more years.
- 43:12Speaker 5: So it's like, how many years ahead were they planning
- 43:15Speaker 5: that shit? Here's where, you know, Marvel universe can get
- 43:17Speaker 5: real confusing right now, movie wise, but he's confirmed to
- 43:21Speaker 5: be in the civil wars movie, which is technically the next.
- 43:23Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 43:24Speaker 5: There's not a new Iron Man, not a new Captain
- 43:26Speaker 5: America per se. They're going to be in it. They're
- 43:27Speaker 5: calling it the next Captain America movie. I thought it was.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Captain America 3 is how they're billing it now.
- 43:31Speaker 5: It's both of them. This is going to be their
- 43:34Speaker 5: last solo-ish kind of run probably. But Black Panther is
- 43:37Speaker 5: confirmed to be in that. So either he will debut
- 43:40Speaker 5: in that, then get his movie, or they're going to
- 43:42Speaker 5: come out about the same. Well, no, Civil War is
- 43:44Speaker 5: next year, right? I think it's that quick. Isn't Civil
- 43:47Speaker 5: War like May next year?
- 43:48Speaker 10: I thought the next Captain America was like next year sometimes.
- 43:51Speaker 5: So I guess we'll get a glimpse at him in that.
- 43:54Speaker 5: And then he'll get his full-on solo. I think Ant-Man's
- 43:57Speaker 5: going to be in that, too, which I thought was interesting.
- 44:00Speaker 5: There's a lot of, like, they announced the cast for
- 44:01Speaker 5: Civil War, and there was a lot of people in
- 44:03Speaker 5: there I was surprised about. I was like, wow, you're
- 44:04Speaker 5: rushing a lot of these guys right into it.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Yeah, especially since we don't really have a lot of
- 44:09Speaker 1: between now and then. Like, you've got Ant-Man, but that's
- 44:12Speaker 1: kind of the big end of.
- 44:14Speaker 10: Marvel for this year. They've kind of shoved it all
- 44:17Speaker 10: in the first half, so.
- 44:19Speaker 1: It's interesting that they're going to be able to get
- 44:21Speaker 1: to that level again without entering extra little side movies
- 44:26Speaker 1: and whatnot. Look, it's Patrick. He's a horrible person.
- 44:33Speaker 5: Mr. Kent has joined us. Mr. DC.
- 44:37Speaker 1: We went into 15 or 20 minutes on how much
- 44:39Speaker 1: you love Superman and.
- 44:42Speaker 5: How Aquaman is the favorite superhero ever.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Unless he's like, I'm the goddamn Aquaman.
- 44:50Speaker 5: Oh, it's kind of funny. This is kind of worth mentioning.
- 44:52Speaker 5: This is my friend's story, not mine, but it's still amusing.
- 44:56Speaker 5: So everyone's seen the picture of the Joker, right? I
- 45:01Speaker 5: think I posted it.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Stupid social networking.
- 45:04Speaker 5: We haven't talked about it, so I don't know your
- 45:05Speaker 5: guys' opinions. I'll say I'm cynical. That's not anything new.
- 45:10Speaker 5: I expected that.
- 45:12Speaker 2: I was not impressed when I saw Heath Ledger's first
- 45:14Speaker 2: picture as Joker.
- 45:15Speaker 5: And I've heard this argument.
- 45:16Speaker 2: I'm just going to say that.
- 45:17Speaker 5: I wasn't even going to get into, like, photo bashing
- 45:20Speaker 5: because they're already backpedaling. I've already heard that they were like, oh,
- 45:23Speaker 5: the tattoos were just having fun photoshopping. The tattoos aren't
- 45:27Speaker 5: on them. And it's like, really? Because you didn't say
- 45:29Speaker 5: that when you showed the photo to everybody. Oh, I
- 45:33Speaker 5: didn't see that.
- 45:35Speaker 8: No.
- 45:36Speaker 5: Harlequin's like actually.
- 45:38Speaker 2: OK.
- 45:39Speaker 5: Anyway, point being, me and some some friends at a convention,
- 45:44Speaker 5: you know, we're like, you know, just talking trash about
- 45:47Speaker 5: that photo and stuff. And it was funny. I have
- 45:51Speaker 5: a friend who, you know, had an artist table. He's
- 45:54Speaker 5: doing his thing at the artist table, kind of drawing, whatever,
- 45:57Speaker 5: you know, kind of not necessarily looking up in a
- 46:00Speaker 5: weird way. You know, he's just doing his thing. And,
- 46:03Speaker 5: you know, whoever walked up to the table before he
- 46:05Speaker 5: could look up, you know, I was like, hey, so
- 46:07Speaker 5: what do you think of that Joker photo? And he
- 46:14Speaker 5: said that, like, thank goodness his head was on the
- 46:16Speaker 5: way up as he started to give his opinion. because
- 46:20Speaker 5: it was aquaman himself it was mamo like standing there
- 46:23Speaker 5: like hey buddy what you thinking that joker picture he's
- 46:26Speaker 5: like dude it's so neat oh you know he gave
- 46:30Speaker 5: him some kind of mediocre thing but it's one of
- 46:32Speaker 5: those things like knowing what he really thought is like
- 46:35Speaker 5: yeah i don't i don't know if i would have
- 46:36Speaker 5: told that dude right to his face either could have
- 46:39Speaker 5: been like well it's nothing compared to that aquaman photo
- 46:42Speaker 5: oh With your dreads and tattooed scales. He's still better
- 46:45Speaker 5: than the aqua. Never mind.
- 46:50Speaker 1: He is a big dude.
- 46:52Speaker 5: That could be a bad segue. We don't want to
- 46:54Speaker 5: start DC bashing. It's not about that.
- 46:56Speaker 1: I will. Okay, because I wanted to bring it up
- 46:58Speaker 1: and because we're making fun of how much Patrick loves
- 47:01Speaker 1: Superman and Batman.
- 47:03Speaker 5: Superman.
- 47:06Speaker 6: You bleed.
- 47:07Speaker 1: I feel like.
- 47:09Speaker 6: You're gonna.
- 47:11Speaker 4: Bitch.
- 47:13Speaker 1: I feel like, I don't know how much it was
- 47:15Speaker 1: conscious last time in the first Avengers, because I feel
- 47:19Speaker 1: like there was almost a specific difference in the way that,
- 47:22Speaker 1: because I was, I remember in Avengers feeling so like,
- 47:27Speaker 1: relieved that even in the middle of this giant battle
- 47:30Speaker 1: of New York, their main objective was protecting humanity. And
- 47:34Speaker 1: they spend so much time being like, all right, get
- 47:36Speaker 1: them out of the bus. Get these people over here.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Clear this street. Their job, number one, is protect humans.
- 47:41Speaker 1: And then, okay, if we can kick some ass, that's good.
- 47:43Speaker 1: But first and foremost, get these people.
- 47:45Speaker 9: Out of the way.
- 47:45Speaker 5: I mean, the whole thing with the nuke. I mean,
- 47:47Speaker 5: the fact that they were, the government was willing to
- 47:50Speaker 5: nuke the city to end this thing. And they were
- 47:53Speaker 5: the ones that saved millions of lives and But that.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Was timed so close that maybe that just happened to
- 47:59Speaker 1: come out. But this one, being years later, I remember
- 48:04Speaker 1: so much backlash on Man of Steel that he did
- 48:08Speaker 1: not give a shit about people and they plowed through
- 48:11Speaker 1: building after building in that city and he could care
- 48:14Speaker 1: less he was throwing.
- 48:15Speaker 5: Them through the building it wasn't like it was just
- 48:16Speaker 5: him getting thrown he would like spin with someone and
- 48:19Speaker 5: toss him through a skyscraper like you just killed people
- 48:21Speaker 5: yeah you just killed that that's like a a biological
- 48:25Speaker 5: bullet you just shot through if it's going fast enough
- 48:27Speaker 5: to go through concrete windows steel you just threw a
- 48:31Speaker 5: human bullet Blindly through that building. You killed people. Definitely
- 48:36Speaker 5: killed people.
- 48:37Speaker 1: This being so many years later and after all that
- 48:40Speaker 1: fallout that I'm like, I feel like they made such
- 48:43Speaker 1: a conscious effort to be like, look how much we're
- 48:47Speaker 1: trying to save people. Like, we're not stupid like Superman.
- 48:52Speaker 1: We're like, I'm Iron Man and I'm getting these people
- 48:54Speaker 1: out of this elevator. As he looked to the camera
- 48:57Speaker 1: and saluted, God bless America.
- 48:59Speaker 5: I saved people.
- 49:01Speaker 10: So, yeah, I feel like there were so many moments,
- 49:03Speaker 10: especially in that big, in the Hulk battle, basically, where
- 49:06Speaker 10: they're just like.
- 49:07Speaker 5: For God's sakes, protect people. You know, they were just,
- 49:09Speaker 5: it did seem almost like a conscious move.
- 49:12Speaker 1: But one I approve of, actually.
- 49:13Speaker 2: His first email son after that fight is to send
- 49:16Speaker 2: them money.
- 49:19Speaker 1: Again, I think it's Joss being smart about it. He's
- 49:22Speaker 1: just like, yeah, that's their job. They're heroes. That's what they're.
- 49:25Speaker 5: There to do. We don't need more anti-heroes dressed up
- 49:27Speaker 5: like good guys. It's like we've got plenty of that.
- 49:30Speaker 5: That's what really happened with Superman. He's kind of an anti-hero.
- 49:33Speaker 5: He's a dude with a great big ego that seems to.
- 49:39Speaker 5: I'm not saying Superman didn't care about his own life,
- 49:42Speaker 5: but in the comics, my impression was always that he
- 49:45Speaker 5: cared about the Earth a lot more. He would die
- 49:48Speaker 5: to protect it. Now it seems like he would fuck
- 49:53Speaker 5: up your semi over his ego in a heartbeat. He's
- 49:55Speaker 5: a dick.
- 49:56Speaker 1: That was a douchebag, man.
- 49:59Speaker 2: He was a Canadian douchebag.
- 50:03Speaker 5: It's a fine line.
- 50:04Speaker 1: I think back on the Like the old, which was it,
- 50:07Speaker 1: three that he throws the guy into the pinball machine?
- 50:10Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 50:11Speaker 1: But that one's so lighthearted about it. It's so funny
- 50:14Speaker 1: at that point. And I guess it also kind of
- 50:16Speaker 1: helps because that Superman is so damn likable that it's
- 50:19Speaker 1: hard to be angry at it. It is kind of funny.
- 50:22Speaker 1: He makes a joke that's been working out. It's just
- 50:25Speaker 1: funny at that point.
- 50:26Speaker 10: But I guess it's a fine line between messing up
- 50:28Speaker 10: that dude's track.
- 50:29Speaker 5: I think even as a kid, I feel like that
- 50:31Speaker 5: wasn't bad because he messed him up the first time.
- 50:35Speaker 5: He did beat the hell out of him. He did
- 50:37Speaker 5: kind of beat the tar out of you. It's okay
- 50:40Speaker 5: for Superman to throw you into a pinball machine.
- 50:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:43Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I'm sure it didn't
- 50:45Speaker 5: feel good, but you didn't break anything. You were embarrassed.
- 50:48Speaker 5: He embarrassed you.
- 50:50Speaker 1: He didn't beat you up.
- 50:51Speaker 5: He didn't take your... $ 20, 000, $ 30, 000 vehicle and toss it up,
- 50:56Speaker 5: you know, in the power lines or whatever he did
- 50:59Speaker 5: with it. I'm trying to shut it down.
- 51:00Speaker 2: They stuck through the truck, man. Those trees had lots.
- 51:04Speaker 5: Didn't he wrap the wires? He fucked up the utility company, too. Yeah,
- 51:09Speaker 5: you just, some people don't have electricity.
- 51:11Speaker 2: You know what? Canadians, and it's cold there.
- 51:13Speaker 5: And you know what, Superman? People died. Some old lady
- 51:17Speaker 5: who was like huddled up next to her floor heater
- 51:18Speaker 5: just died because of your ego over some waffles at
- 51:21Speaker 5: some little shitty diner.
- 51:24Speaker 1: So, not to get too off on Superman.
- 51:26Speaker 5: Bashing. But, I mean, that was my thing. I felt
- 51:29Speaker 5: like it almost.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Was a very specific, okay, we don't want to do that.
- 51:33Speaker 5: Like, we don't want to be that.
- 51:35Speaker 1: I've specifically set up this universe and these heroes to
- 51:39Speaker 1: be just that. And I feel like he totally delivers
- 51:42Speaker 1: on that.
- 51:42Speaker 5: Like, it really is. In all fairness, like, the very
- 51:45Speaker 5: beginning of the first Avengers. I mean, when the Tesseract
- 51:47Speaker 5: starts acting up, the first thing out of Fury's mouth
- 51:49Speaker 5: is get everyone out of here. Like, that's their whole
- 51:51Speaker 5: thing is they're getting... You know, and that's the whole
- 51:53Speaker 5: drama where, like, he does choose to salvage the weaponry
- 51:56Speaker 5: or whatever, the alien weaponry, and they're all kind of
- 51:58Speaker 5: put out by that because they're like, screw that stuff.
- 52:01Speaker 5: People are going to die. And he's like, no, get
- 52:02Speaker 5: it too. So, I mean, you know, they did have
- 52:05Speaker 5: a lot of that in the first movie.
- 52:06Speaker 1: But I feel like some of that stuff needs to
- 52:09Speaker 1: be there because it's realistic.
- 52:11Speaker 5: Because not that, I mean, S.H.I.E.L.D.
- 52:13Speaker 10: Is sort of a government agency, and he's still sort
- 52:16Speaker 10: of working for the government.
- 52:17Speaker 5: So, like, they're going to be, I mean.
- 52:19Speaker 1: That's kind of the cool thing that you see coming
- 52:21Speaker 1: to play in the Avengers when they're working on secret
- 52:23Speaker 1: weaponry or you get the Captain America two where they're
- 52:26Speaker 1: building this arsenal of weapons that can take out whoever
- 52:30Speaker 1: they want at any point. Like it is sort of
- 52:32Speaker 1: the government overstepping their bounds and like the government being
- 52:36Speaker 1: super power hungry and like having a little more power
- 52:39Speaker 1: than they need. So it is interesting to see that
- 52:41Speaker 1: sort of mentality and, butted up against like supernatural powers.
- 52:45Speaker 1: They're like, yeah, but we have this power too.
- 52:47Speaker 5: And we're trying to do something good with it.
- 52:49Speaker 1: So we need a little of that just to maintain
- 52:51Speaker 1: some sort of evil government realism, which we're obviously going
- 52:56Speaker 1: to get, not just our country, just people in general,
- 53:00Speaker 1: that you give them that much power and horrible things
- 53:02Speaker 1: start happening.
- 53:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:04Speaker 5: Going back to, you know, it was during the break,
- 53:07Speaker 5: but we were talking about the fantastic four a little,
- 53:09Speaker 5: just how I'm disappointed doom's kind of, falling to the
- 53:12Speaker 5: wayside how amazing would have been that first location they
- 53:16Speaker 5: would have went to would have been i felt like
- 53:19Speaker 5: that area that went to i think they mentioned hydra
- 53:22Speaker 5: while they're in that first place you know and stark
- 53:24Speaker 5: is finding all the weird computer stuff like there's a
- 53:27Speaker 5: part of me it's like this should be doom this
- 53:29Speaker 5: is one thing like you're in some weird country like
- 53:31Speaker 5: up in the mountains of these people with accents like
- 53:33Speaker 5: this is doomed it should be doom here like you
- 53:36Speaker 5: know yeah you made it hydra good for you but
- 53:38Speaker 5: if you guys would have implemented doom this could have
- 53:40Speaker 5: been like doom's layer could have been could have been
- 53:43Speaker 5: fantastic instead of a weasley computer hacker no i felt
- 53:49Speaker 5: like there was some it was much more story driven
- 53:51Speaker 5: this time yeah there was just you know because of
- 53:55Speaker 5: that big lull that happens after the very beginning like
- 53:58Speaker 5: you get just like crazy epic fight right out the
- 54:01Speaker 5: gate you know and it's like they chill out for
- 54:04Speaker 5: a while like a long while like 15 20 minutes
- 54:06Speaker 5: But it's like all of that stuff matters. It's kind
- 54:08Speaker 5: of like what I was saying earlier. It's like even
- 54:10Speaker 5: to the point where like when Thor, well, you know,
- 54:15Speaker 5: everyone kind of gets, you know, kind of dazzled a
- 54:17Speaker 5: little and has some stuff happen where they see some
- 54:20Speaker 5: stuff in their past and their future. That whole thing
- 54:23Speaker 5: with Thor like sets up his whole movie. Like going back,
- 54:25Speaker 5: you know, how this is going to set up the
- 54:27Speaker 5: Civil War movie. This is going to set up the
- 54:29Speaker 5: Infinity Wars movies. Well, it also, well, and it's going
- 54:31Speaker 5: to be setting up. everyone's movies really because even the
- 54:34Speaker 5: hulk might get a solo movie now yeah but the
- 54:36Speaker 5: way they ended this but the thor one that sets
- 54:38Speaker 5: up thor is like this whole thor ragnarok thing is
- 54:41Speaker 5: based on that vision he saw like that's why he
- 54:44Speaker 5: spoiler leaves at the end because it's like he realizes
- 54:47Speaker 5: after that he's got some shit he's got to go
- 54:48Speaker 5: take care of which will probably have to do with
- 54:51Speaker 5: another infinity stone but he's supposed to like go to
- 54:53Speaker 5: like to the demon dimension or whatever based on that
- 54:56Speaker 5: vision so there's a lot of stuff in there where
- 54:58Speaker 5: like you know maybe if you're not a comic geek
- 55:01Speaker 5: it might seem like pointless random details yeah but for
- 55:05Speaker 5: you know people that are dorking out to kind of
- 55:08Speaker 5: be into knowing his stuff like you i know i
- 55:11Speaker 5: didn't mind i i was conscious that the pacing had
- 55:13Speaker 5: really dropped but at the same time i was like
- 55:16Speaker 5: oh but this is like sneak previews this is like
- 55:18Speaker 5: hey guess what's gonna happen next guess what's gonna happen
- 55:20Speaker 5: next guess what's gonna happen next.
- 55:21Speaker 2: They've decided to not even just make easter eggs anymore
- 55:24Speaker 2: but everything's so hardcore.
- 55:26Speaker 1: They're just eggs it's not easter they're just eggs i
- 55:29Speaker 1: don't even feel like it drops is in a sense, like,
- 55:31Speaker 1: like I was saying earlier, like, I feel like it
- 55:33Speaker 1: just continues that pace, because truthfully, that's what I said
- 55:36Speaker 1: about the Avengers the first time around, was the part
- 55:40Speaker 1: that I love the most is the part that is
- 55:42Speaker 1: so not what anybody, like, not what you would go
- 55:45Speaker 1: in for, everybody wants the big epic battles and the
- 55:47Speaker 1: cool action, sci-fi, fantasy kind of stuff, my favorite part
- 55:51Speaker 1: of Avengers is when they all get on that ship,
- 55:54Speaker 1: And they're flying around for, like, 40 minutes.
- 55:56Speaker 5: And they're just talking. Taking shots at each other.
- 55:58Speaker 1: Taking shots. And I'm like, that is the movie. Like,
- 56:01Speaker 1: the battle at the end is cool, but that is
- 56:03Speaker 1: the movie. That is the heart of that movie is
- 56:06Speaker 1: all of them being stuck together. All of them, like,
- 56:08Speaker 1: just having, like, this battle of wills sometimes. And that
- 56:12Speaker 1: was always a big part of the comics. But weird camaraderie.
- 56:14Speaker 2: That's when they're just hanging out.
- 56:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:16Speaker 5: Talking shit. And honestly, I had it reading Anne Rice stuff, too. Like,
- 56:21Speaker 5: I kind of feel like in a way. vampires kind
- 56:23Speaker 5: of like superheroes in the same sense that like, you know, in,
- 56:26Speaker 5: in comics and stuff, you have all these great people.
- 56:29Speaker 5: And for the most part, you're probably reading, you know,
- 56:32Speaker 5: a comic about just that one person you're reading about
- 56:34Speaker 5: Peter Parker, you're reading about, you know, Clark Kent, you're
- 56:37Speaker 5: reading about whoever it may be. And it doesn't, it
- 56:42Speaker 5: doesn't resonate the same until they're around someone else on
- 56:46Speaker 5: their level. You know, then when Superman is next to
- 56:48Speaker 5: Batman and you're like, Oh shit, You know, what's going
- 56:51Speaker 5: to happen here? So I think, you know, comics in general,
- 56:55Speaker 5: it's like that when, you know, you put a bunch
- 56:56Speaker 5: of them in a room, you're like, oh my gosh,
- 56:59Speaker 5: how would these guys interact with each other? And I
- 57:01Speaker 5: think that's what Avengers did really well.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Just, you know.
- 57:05Speaker 5: Just so much. Joss Whedon is just so masterful with
- 57:08Speaker 5: his dialogue and his humor anyway. Taking those personalities, putting
- 57:12Speaker 5: them together, and just letting them go. I'd watch Improv
- 57:14Speaker 5: Night with those guys anytime. Just sit down and just talk,
- 57:17Speaker 5: and I'm going to be completely entertained.
- 57:19Speaker 2: Just like them being on the ship was the backbone
- 57:22Speaker 2: of the story that the other part branched off of.
- 57:24Speaker 2: I think he was genius in this one, making the
- 57:25Speaker 2: backbone of the story. Basically, Hawkeye understanding that he sucks. Like,
- 57:31Speaker 2: helping us realize that even Hawkeye knows that he's just
- 57:33Speaker 2: a shitty, worthless individual.
- 57:35Speaker 5: Can we get into the spoiler then? Because on that note, someone... Well, no,
- 57:40Speaker 5: I don't even have to make it a spoiler. Someone
- 57:42Speaker 5: does pass away in this movie.
- 57:44Speaker 2: In Avengers 2?
- 57:44Speaker 7: Mm-hmm. Who?
- 57:47Speaker 5: Someone passes away, and I really... I just saw it.
- 57:49Speaker 5: After the movie was over... Were you not there?
- 57:51Speaker 1: I can't remember.
- 57:52Speaker 5: Are you being serious?
- 57:52Speaker 9: No, yeah.
- 57:53Speaker 5: I thought you were being sarcastic. You really don't remember?
- 57:55Speaker 1: Cut it out. Who?
- 57:55Speaker 2: It's... oh okay sorry so i couldn't figure out why
- 58:01Speaker 2: this one kid and his girlfriend he flies away and
- 58:06Speaker 2: he keeps running into godzilla and the wife's oh oh
- 58:11Speaker 2: shit sorry sorry go back.
- 58:12Speaker 1: I did think that was weird midway in it like
- 58:15Speaker 1: i guess i knew it but i forgot and midway
- 58:17Speaker 1: through they kept like brother and sistering it up and
- 58:19Speaker 1: i was just.
- 58:19Speaker 5: Like wait, that was just your wife last movie. No,
- 58:22Speaker 5: but you know what? It's okay.
- 58:24Speaker 1: But you know what?
- 58:24Speaker 5: It's okay.
- 58:25Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 58:25Speaker 5: Cause they're kind of like Lannisters. They are a bit
- 58:28Speaker 5: more than brother and sister. So it was kind of okay.
- 58:31Speaker 1: To, I mean, that's what she said. They were kind
- 58:32Speaker 1: of playing it like that. That like the way that
- 58:35Speaker 1: they teased it a little, that she like, well only
- 58:37Speaker 1: because they were so like, she, again, the Elizabeth Olsen
- 58:40Speaker 1: chick is so fucking awesome. So like the fact that
- 58:43Speaker 1: she puts this much in, like she wanted them to
- 58:45Speaker 1: have been like, we were abandoned by everyone.
- 58:48Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 58:48Speaker 5: All we have is each other so we're gonna be
- 58:51Speaker 5: so close.
- 58:51Speaker 1: That it's kind of uncomfortable and she did a great
- 58:54Speaker 1: job so i mean there are a lot of scenes
- 58:56Speaker 1: where they're holding hands there are a lot and she
- 58:59Speaker 1: specifically was setting up so there are a lot of
- 59:00Speaker 1: scenes where it's shot so that one is looking over
- 59:04Speaker 1: the other shoulder gotcha that literally they've that we were
- 59:08Speaker 1: watching each other's back you know like they were she
- 59:11Speaker 1: was taking that much detail and putting it.
- 59:12Speaker 2: Into god joss whedon just let him do the rest
- 59:15Speaker 2: of the fucking movies it's killing.
- 59:17Speaker 5: Him that's why he's not real is this i mean
- 59:20Speaker 5: this one sounds.
- 59:20Speaker 1: Too much killed him like he's just like i don't
- 59:23Speaker 1: want to do things i'm just like I'm out.
- 59:26Speaker 5: Give it to JJ or somebody. Okay, give it to JJ.
- 59:29Speaker 5: You know, I really thought that with that backstory, not
- 59:35Speaker 5: that it's a backstory, but, you know, finding out Hawkeye
- 59:36Speaker 5: has a wife and kid and all that kind of stuff.
- 59:38Speaker 2: That he sucks.
- 59:39Speaker 5: You know, again, like, I have too many thoughts at once. So,
- 59:43Speaker 5: you know, I was saying earlier, you know, this is
- 59:45Speaker 5: really a transitional movie in my opinion. The first Avengers
- 59:49Speaker 5: kind of felt like a conclusion in a way. You know,
- 59:51Speaker 5: you watch a movie and you were kind of like, well,
- 59:54Speaker 5: I don't really know where it's going to go from here.
- 59:55Speaker 5: You watch Avengers 2, and you're like, I know about
- 59:57Speaker 5: 10 different ways this is going to go from here.
- 59:59Speaker 5: There's a lot coming. And so with that said, I knew,
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: I had read, I didn't get this from anybody, but
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: I had read that every phase is supposed to be
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: a different clique of Avengers. So going into phase two
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: like this, the team was supposed to change up. It
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: wasn't going to be Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: America all the time, which is why we got a transition.
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: That's why I really thought it would have made sense
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: if it would have been Hawkeye that just went home
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: instead of killing anybody. It used to be like, how
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: can I just go and, dude, I'm just a human.
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: I'm really precise. I'm really good, but you guys are
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: going next level. I got a wife who's about to
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: have a kid. I'm going to go over here and
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: let's not kill off someone who was a huge surprise
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: that I really, really liked in that movie. I thought,
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: I thought the new additions were fantastic. I thought Scarlet
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: Witch was awesome. Scarlet Witch was pretty sick. I really
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: wasn't sure if she was going to be good in
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: a movie.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I think they were smart to kill off Quicksilver because
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: I think, and not that I like the X-Men movies,
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: but I think the X-Men movies are going to take
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: their Quicksilver more. And I think it was very nice
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: of Marvel to say, you all are the shitty little brother.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: If that's all you've got, we're going to let you shine.
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: Well, they've got to keep Scarlett with it. She's too
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: important to the bigger picture. Plus, if you're going to
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: release Vision in a movie, you need Scarlett.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: To get around, too.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: I'm like, she's so huge now. I'm like, you don't
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: want to kill her off.
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: How boss does she look in her final outfit, though?
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: I mean, she was pulling crazy off. Well, and after
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: that little... God, there's so many moments. When Hawkeye had
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: that little pep talk... What is it about slow motion?
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: When she busts the door out in slow motion, just
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: does that one shot off to the side without even looking.
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: I'm like, oh my God, she's killing it.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: While we're here, because that's the thing. I specifically, as
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: we got to that little pep talk, it clicked and
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: I was like, oh shit, do you know what this is?
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: And it's funny because you're saying that he sucks. I'm
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: sitting there and I'm going, this is like.
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: The Xander speech. Oh, wow.
- 1:02:00Speaker 9: Nice.
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: Did anybody watch all the way through Buffy? I'm watching
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: Buffy again right now. I'm in season two.
- 1:02:05Speaker 9: Okay.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: I'm seeing it all, but I'm literally watching it again.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: I don't think it will spoil it because this is
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: all stuff that you know. Xander's a fuck up. Xander has.
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: I just had the episode where like... They wouldn't let
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: him help.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: This one ends up with the zombie guys that bullied
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: him in school. And every time he runs into anyone,
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: they're like, oh, no, we're good. You're going to get hurt.
- 1:02:22Speaker 9: Go on.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: Like, I literally just watched that episode like three days ago.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: But as you go on, and it's, again, not spoiling anything,
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: but everybody else that he meets, and even some of
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: the friends that he starts with, continue to become more powerful.
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: And he, like, all of the Scooby group are, like.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: Supernatural powers.
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: Freaking godlike, yeah, creatures. And he's a guy.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: And so by the end, and I went and found
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: it because I was like, this is too close. I
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: was trying to figure out what it was that he said.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: And it's him like talking to Dawn, who's sort of
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: dealing with the fact that she's not a slayer and
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: she's not like, she's not, she's surrounded by all these
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: people that are trying to save the world. And like,
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: I'm just a dumb kid. And his, like his thing
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: was basically like his comments about being surrounded by all
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: these amazing people is like, how much harder is for
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: the rest of us? And spending time with them, he's like,
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: see my friends become more and more powerful. They will
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: never know what it's like to not be chosen, to
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: not be special. And it's like, he even specifically said, like,
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: to live so near the spotlight and never be able
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: to step into it. And all of these are just like,
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: I'm like, this is Hawkeye. I'm like, this is the same.
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: And it's Joss.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: Like, I'm like, he must be hitting that same, like,
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: groove because it really is a thing when you're dealing
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: with with supernatural characters versus being friends with humans it's
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: like it's gotta be difficult and it really is interesting
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: that he's sort of trying to explore that and then
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: the more i thought about was like it's kind of
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: like his position too like as you get into these
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: it's like the writer director type person is the one
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: that takes on the brunt of all the work and
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: all of this and if it's awesome people love Captain America. People, like,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: you know, it's like, you're right there next to it.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: You're putting in all this work you don't get in
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: the spotlight. Like, aside from the handful of, like, super directors, like,
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: how many people know who directors and screenwriters are? Like, nobody.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: So it's like, you're one step away. So in the end,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: if it sucks, it's your fault. But if it's awesome,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: it's the star's fault. Like, to me, it's like, you're
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: that same thing. Like, you're right there next to superstardom,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: but you're never really gonna get it unless you're Joss.
- 1:04:29Speaker 8: Whedon, but.
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: Even when you do make awesome movies, you still get
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: slammed on Twitter for being a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, whatever
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: all that drama is over the scene. I still don't
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: understand how all the character development he has given Black
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: Widow probably, I dare say, more than anyone else.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Definitely.
- 1:04:52Speaker 5: Even though she hasn't had her own movie, between all
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: the movies, the character development you've given Black Widow and
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: that there is still... a group of ladies that still
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: want to say that he's misogynistic. Of all people, him.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: Is there anyone who's written more strong female roles ever.
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: Than Joss Whedon? What's his infamous quote he gave during,
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: was it after Buffy? Somewhere in there where someone was like,
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: so why do you keep making all these things with
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: strong female characters? And he's like, so why do you
- 1:05:21Speaker 5: keep asking? There was something real witty he threw out
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: like that.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: No, his comment was basically like, I just write good characters.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: A lot of them tend to be female characters. but
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: that's not why I write them that way. Like I
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: write them because this is the story I'm trying to tell.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: These are the characters that I write. And a lot
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: of them happen to be female, but like, that's not
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: my starting point is like, let's have some bad-ass chicks. It's,
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: this is the story I wrote. It just happens to be,
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: you know, a lot. And again, that's kind of the
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: way you should write things at this point. We don't
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: need token characters. We need well-written real characters. And that's,
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:05:53Speaker 10: Again, I think if anybody has shown people.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: That you can do that, And specifically in that first Avengers,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: she is the character that shines the most.
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: I still go back to the first Iron Man. Second. No,
- 1:06:07Speaker 5: I still go back to the first.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: With Scarlet.
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: Where at the very end, she has a little fight
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: scene at the hallway when she reveals.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: That's the second one.
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: Was it? I thought she showed it.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: It's the second one because that's when everything goes haywire.
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because they start working in way too
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: many Avengers plot tie-in points.
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: Yeah, even because, let's be honest. Let's be real honest.
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: Hawkeye and Black Widow.
- 1:06:29Speaker 7: Suck.
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: Before these movies, no one cared.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: No.
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: I mean, they were filler. You might find that dude
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: that liked them, but it's that dude that honestly liked
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: them because no one else did. Exactly. Just kind of
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: keeping it geek real. Like, these movies put them on
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: next level. Period. Black Widow was not important. I mean, yes,
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: she was parts of plot lines and was usually a traitor.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: Usually, like, yeah, she was a big deal because she
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: just traitored. to Avengers, but she had not even a
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: hint of the level that she's at now. And that's
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: because of Joss. So being upset that... She's.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: Still dealing with the traitor in the background and stuff.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: It's not just a cheesy comic book plot point. She's
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: a real character and she's still dealing with that.
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: She's not just a piece of hot Russian tale. She matters.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: She is.
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: involved in everything more than any other superhero in these
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: movies and this little you know network of movies she
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: is more involved than any other individual i mean she's
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: been in iron man movies captain america movies avengers movies
- 1:07:39Speaker 5: because she's.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: That damn character that she needs to be like she's the.
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: Best part of them she always has handled her own
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: Doesn't matter how bad scenes start with her.
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: That's the thing that bothers me is when he talks
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: about women getting kidnapped or the people on the internet
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: were talking about women getting kidnapped. And I'm like, wasn't
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: she tied to a chair and answered a phone while
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: killing someone?
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Wasn't that part of the plan?
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: Wasn't that part of the plan?
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: You can't tell me that there's ever been a female
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: lead this strong before. Who so much of the franchise
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: sits on. And she has no powers.
- 1:08:07Speaker 5: It's like the scene with Loki where everyone was like,
- 1:08:08Speaker 5: you know, oh, she got all girly and cried when
- 1:08:10Speaker 5: he started kind of like ripping her through the glass. Like,
- 1:08:13Speaker 5: and that was part of the plan. She turned around
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: right afterwards and smiled like, oh, it's about Hulk.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: That's what I think is genius.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: Again, her being the kind of person that she is,
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: it's like, it's not that, oh, no, being a woman
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: doesn't matter. Not only does it matter, she knows how
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: to fucking use it to her advantage. She is that
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: strong of a character. She's like, there are a lot
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: of people that she knows she can use that against them.
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: And she does.
- 1:08:37Speaker 10: And she just then takes people out in the process.
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: Interesting side note for people that have not read the comics.
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: The whole scene where they're all taking turns lifting Mjolnir. Technically,
- 1:08:48Speaker 5: it was, I believe, a what-if comic.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: It is a what if.
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: Okay, there was a what if comic in the Ultron
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: era where um she goes bad I believe I believe
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: she ends up helping Ultron she picks up Mjolnir whatever
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: happens with her power upgrade like she can actually pick
- 1:09:03Speaker 5: it up so I thought it was funny that she
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: didn't even try I almost feel like that was Joss
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: nodding a little like we all know who can really
- 1:09:09Speaker 5: pick this up so we're not going to do it
- 1:09:11Speaker 5: not that she could have in this story because it
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: was a what if comic but None of the other
- 1:09:15Speaker 5: guys have ever picked it up in a comment.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: My favorite was just the little movement we got for
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: Captain America. And the look on Thor's face.
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: That was awesome.
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: That half second of Thor being like, oh, what do
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: I do when he does?
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: And then the elevator comment murdered me.
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: Oh, my gosh.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: It murdered me.
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: But the elevator's not worthy.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: I love their bromance together so much.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: See, that's what I'm saying. All those scenes are, again,
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: to me, what makes this movie. The party scene. is
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: like the best scene.
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: Like, I know it's not a big dumb battle.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: I could care less. It's the most impressive stuff in
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: the movie.
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: It's always got that really cool jacket.
- 1:09:53Speaker 5: It's like the same, but different, you know, like I,
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: I promise, you know, and I admit it because I
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: was the same way for me. Like, you know, in
- 1:09:58Speaker 5: the beginning of movie, it starts so hot and so
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: high that one day they chill out afterwards. It felt,
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: it didn't feel like a letdown, but you know, you
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: feel that adrenaline going away. Like, Oh man, what just happened?
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: but it doesn't matter when they start talking because the
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: writing is so good. Either, you know, the storytelling is
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: interesting because you know that these are little snippets of
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: what's to come or their humor is just killing it.
- 1:10:23Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: I mean, just like he just, their humor is so good.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: What I was more impressed with is the fact that,
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: I mean that first Avengers, we already have all those
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: characters that we're dealing with, but since then we've had
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: several other movies that have brought in these other characters.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: So now he's working in all these side characters from
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: the side movies and Along with the group that we're
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: already dealing with.
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: So when you've got, like, the... I like how they
- 1:10:47Speaker 5: were arguing over their girls.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:10:50Speaker 5: They were like.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Jane's better.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: That's so funny. I also like how the transition of
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: the individual characters is going over the three parts of
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: the bigger picture, the faces, right? Because just like Tony Stark,
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: watching him from, like, pre-Iron Man... becoming iron man and
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: becoming powerful but then ptsd iron man yeah i think
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: is just phenomenal and seeing how that is going to
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: play into building civil war is that is the when
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: you step back it really isn't the fight for new
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: york or the big hulk smash scene it's those things
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: that are character driven and that's what will set marvel
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: apart from everything else because it has to be the
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: character story.
- 1:11:31Speaker 5: I wonder if they'll put the put the glass in
- 1:11:33Speaker 5: his hand finally.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: I want him to so bad.
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: Because in a comic, again, for people who don't know,
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: he becomes an alcoholic. He can't deal with his stress.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: That's what they were supposed to do.
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: With the first movie. And it was him, like, making
- 1:11:45Speaker 5: some bad mistakes drunk.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: We kind of get that in the second movie. I mean,
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: his drunken ramble, like, it's like a light version of
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: it that he immediately comes out of. But I'm like,
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: we kind of see him lose it and he's not
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: responsible enough to have the armor to the point that War.
- 1:11:59Speaker 10: Machine's like, no, get out of it.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: I'm taking over.
- 1:12:02Speaker 10: You can't handle this shit. So, I mean, we get
- 1:12:04Speaker 10: a light version of that.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: So, I don't know. To me, that almost, like, doing
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: it again would almost be rehashing and just dragging it
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: out into a longer version of it.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: I think Civil War is going to be a lot
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: different than the comic book and I'm excited about that.
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: It sounds like they, you were, googling stuff on superman
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: earlier we were talking about how um the civil wars
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: movie like they've uh they've released a cast like they've
- 1:12:31Speaker 5: talked about yeah and like there's a lot of people
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: i was like surprising me like hawkeye is gonna be
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: in it hawkeye does come back at least for that
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: shut your dude i like this hawkeye as much as
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: i said no i have anything in the comic.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: I have to say i've hated hawkeye my entire life
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: and then hated him even more since the first movies
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: But Joss was absolutely genius to play off his humanity.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: And it really rectified Hawkeye, I think, for everybody.
- 1:12:54Speaker 10: I think Renner does a really good job with him.
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: He does.
- 1:12:56Speaker 10: If they gave it to somebody else, he might be forgettable.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: He's such a little tort, but he does so good.
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: And I liked him so much from 28 weeks later.
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: And that was my first... I don't know if he
- 1:13:04Speaker 5: was even in anything else before that. That was my
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: first time seeing him in something.
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: And.
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: He was so endearing in that movie. When he died,
- 1:13:11Speaker 5: I was really upset. Great spoiler, Jesus. Yeah, because you
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: didn't spoil anything about Quicksilver.
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: We threw the spoiler away now. Oh, no.
- 1:13:21Speaker 5: Civil Wars is going to be about the collateral damage, though,
- 1:13:23Speaker 5: which is close. You can't do the epic level that
- 1:13:28Speaker 5: the comic was. I get that. I get this is
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: going to be a one-movie story arc. This isn't going
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: to be the earth-shattering thing it was in the comics.
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: It sounds like it's going to be a one-on-one. They're
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: going to choose a couple people on their side. But
- 1:13:44Speaker 5: I think that's why we got S.H.I.E.L.D. That's why, again,
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: going about how this movie felt like so much of
- 1:13:48Speaker 5: a setup for everything else, I think that very end
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: scene is blatantly to set up for Civil War. I
- 1:13:53Speaker 5: think it's almost going to be scene for scene attached
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: because you got Captain America declaring who the new Avengers are.
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: He had that whole shot with a couple of roster changes. And,
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: I mean, how hard is it to see the blowback when,
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: you know, Wakanda or whatever the place that the country has, Autovibranium,
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: that fight with the Hulk wrecked that place. That, you know,
- 1:14:17Speaker 5: the whole thing at the end with the whole city,
- 1:14:20Speaker 5: you wrecked that place. The UN or the world is
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: going to want something done. You know, there's going to be,
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: you know, some serious, serious blowback after Avengers 2. And,
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: you know, I get the impression it's going to be
- 1:14:34Speaker 5: something of an effect where, you know, now that S.H.I.E.L.D.
- 1:14:37Speaker 5: is back, S.H.I.E.L.D. doing something where it's like, you know,
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: you have to do exactly what we say at all times. And,
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: you know, that's how issue one of Civil War started.
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: It started with Rogers on a helicarrier. You know, Hill
- 1:14:52Speaker 5: turns around and is like, sign this paper. And he's like, no.
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: And literally fights S.H.I.E.L.D., jumps off the helicarrier. That's issue one.
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: And how did this end? Him at a new S.H.I.E.L.D.
- 1:15:01Speaker 5: facility with new Avengers about to get the blowback from
- 1:15:05Speaker 5: everything they just did with Avengers 2. Like, I feel
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: like this segues perfectly into Civil War.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: I mean, that's, again, what I think has been so
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: well done with this whole, the whole series, at least from,
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: definitely from Avengers, like from Avengers going into like Iron
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: Man 3 and Captain America 2, you see like not
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: only the overall story changing, but the characters readjusting as
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: they go. So you get like the wormhole that opens
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: up and we're exposed to this other super powerful life forms.
- 1:15:33Speaker 10: So then you see, you already see like S.H.I.E.L.D.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: Going, oh shit, what do we do? So we need
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: to use this to make bigger weapons so that we
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: can fight them. And then you see, even like you
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: get to like Tony Stark going, I can't stop all
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: of this. We need something bigger than me and bigger
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: than all of us. So you see like all of
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: this coming from like this whole arc, these last three
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: or four movies that have been like, we're watching all
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: of these people kind of readjust with these huge changes
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: that again, if, if it were done a little sloppier,
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: but like none of this would all fall apart, but
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: it's all so smooth the way that everything sort of
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: falls into place as they go along. And like, everybody
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: is changing everything. because of these previous events and it's
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: not completely separate little movies it really is this overarching
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: story that's tying into all these points yeah.
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: It's not just there's character growth it's not just these
- 1:16:25Speaker 5: static personalities that just get shifted around you know i
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: mean it's how you know it's like you know someone
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: that reads walking dead it's like you know if you
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: were to grab issue one again rick grimes you would
- 1:16:37Speaker 5: not even recognize that boy now compared to what you
- 1:16:40Speaker 5: read of him now. I mean, you're already getting that
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: from the movies. You go back and watch Iron Man 1,
- 1:16:44Speaker 5: Captain America 1, Thor 1. These are completely different people already.
- 1:16:49Speaker 5: I mean, remember how ego-driven Thor was in the first one?
- 1:16:53Speaker 10: Or Tony Stark.
- 1:16:54Speaker 5: Tony Stark. But I mean, it's shockingly different to how
- 1:16:58Speaker 5: they are now. Especially Tony Stark.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: Again, Thor's just i don't know thor's always like so
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: godlike that he doesn't factor in as much for me.
- 1:17:06Speaker 5: I mean he's literally a god so it's hard to
- 1:17:09Speaker 5: you know.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: He's always the one i'm least affected by but but
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: again like robert downey jr has done so much with
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: this what could have been a dumb comic book movie
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: yes he's turned in some pretty amazing performances he set the.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: Bar so fucking high That it carried the whole goddamn franchise.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: It has.
- 1:17:26Speaker 5: He created this franchise, basically. I think that's what DC's
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: recent casting with Suicide Squad was. It was like, hey,
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: Will Smith. You know, hey, Jared Leto. It's like, you know,
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: we need to take this serious.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: We need big names like that.
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: Not that that's everything, but, you know, it doesn't. hurt
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: if you have people with charisma who can't act and
- 1:17:46Speaker 5: integrity like I'm not saying I honestly don't know I'm
- 1:17:49Speaker 5: not saying that Robert Downey Jr. has a stack of
- 1:17:51Speaker 5: Iron Man comics from when he was a kid but
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: I can tell he gives a shit I can tell
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: he's probably read shit.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: Now more than that I mean he lived that Like,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: that's the thing. Like, I think I've said that before. Like,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: that first Iron Man movie is his life. Like, it's
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: him being a party boy and losing everything.
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: Losing everything. That's why it worked.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: And, like, he really, like, this is pretty mirror image to, like,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: what he went through.
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: You need a Tony Stark getting fucked up and then
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: going home to the wrong bed. That's what you need.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: Well, and then watching this, like, to power becoming a
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: huge celebrity again so even when he gets to like
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: Iron Man 2 superstar status that's what he was when
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: he came back to Hollywood he was like you're right
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: I'm a superstar I've been through hell and back and
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: I'm glad to be on top again and I'm gonna
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: like showboat as big as I can and I'm like
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: again I'm like this is just his story like I
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: feel like it's only these last two he's really kind
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: of started taking it to new territory because the other
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: two are so close to him that again it's kind
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: of perfect casting on their part and just him delivering
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: a good performance but yeah that was just so closely
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: tied to his own story that we were all a
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: little too familiar with probably for his comfort I.
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: Can't wait to see like when Doctor Strange comes out,
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: I'm real curious to see Edward Cumberbatch interact with these guys.
- 1:19:13Speaker 5: Because he'll be all over Infinity Wars. He's a big
- 1:19:15Speaker 5: part of that. So it's going to be, it's just
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: never ending anticipation. Like seriously, if you're a Marvel fan
- 1:19:22Speaker 5: or now, it's never, even as you finish Avengers 2,
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: you're still coming out just like, oh my God, Black Panther,
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: Doctor Strange, Civil Wars. You know, yeah, and like, you know,
- 1:19:36Speaker 5: that end scene. I mean, you watched after the credits, right?
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I do it myself.
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: What was with no double stinger?
- 1:19:44Speaker 5: What the hell is that about? You know, did you
- 1:19:47Speaker 5: wait for it?
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:19:48Speaker 5: Josh tweeted it. The people sitting in.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: The theater said, they said there's not anything.
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: But we all sat there going, just in case, let's
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: sit here. I don't want everyone... He said something like,
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: we couldn't do the shawarma scene again. It was too good.
- 1:20:02Speaker 5: So he's like, I'm going to give you one at
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: the half credits and you can go home.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: But the one at the half credits is the same
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: one from last time. Yes.
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: It's almost the exact same one from the first half credits.
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: The first one, it was pun-tastic, though. Because the whole thing,
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: they still haven't talked about it yet. But there is
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: kind of like the endless from Salmon. There's these more
- 1:20:21Speaker 5: God-type entities. And there is an embodiment of death And
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: it's a very attractive woman.
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: And the universe.
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: And Thanos is very, very much in, I don't know
- 1:20:33Speaker 5: what you're going to say, in love, but obsessed with
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: this very attractive embodiment of death. So if you recall
- 1:20:39Speaker 5: that clip at the end of the first Avengers, that
- 1:20:41Speaker 5: dude says to him, there's nothing here on earth. There's
- 1:20:44Speaker 5: only death. And that's when Thanos turns around like, oh, really?
- 1:20:48Speaker 5: You know, that's what that was. That was him like, death?
- 1:20:50Speaker 5: Did you say death? And this one is, you know, yeah, between...
- 1:20:54Speaker 5: you know, Guardians of the Galaxy and Infinity Wars on
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: the horizon now. It's officially going, look, he's fucking arrived.
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: It's fucking time for you to watch Thanos. I mean,
- 1:21:03Speaker 5: they edited him out of Guardians. Apparently, James Gunn filmed
- 1:21:06Speaker 5: quite a bit more of Thanos in Guardians, but I
- 1:21:09Speaker 5: guess the collective was like, let's keep him just a
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: little bit in there until he's going to be all
- 1:21:14Speaker 5: over two movies. Let's keep it live.
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I know they're smart to do that.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Let's not overdo it this early on.
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: I think the setup for Infinity Wars is going to
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: be pretty interesting.
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: I think, It is something, whether movie people care about
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: comic books and geek stuff like that or not, I
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: don't think anyone can argue that this is going to
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: be historical. When has there ever been a time that
- 1:21:37Speaker 5: so many movies have accumulated to one focal point? I mean,
- 1:21:43Speaker 5: by then, there would literally be what?
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: A dozen movies or whatever.
- 1:21:47Speaker 5: At least 12 movies that all story-wise, character-wise, cast-wise... all
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: come together for this one... I mean, what do you
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: do after this? I feel bad for comic book movies
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: after this. After this is done and Infinity Wars is done,
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: what movie is ever going to get you this excited again?
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: The scale is so big, it's almost like, what are
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: you going to do? You just won comic movies. Everybody
- 1:22:15Speaker 5: go home. It's over.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: We never have to make another comic movie again. I
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: really hope Civil War ends with them all broken apart, though.
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: So they have to come back.
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: Come back to fight Thanos. That'd be a good arc.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: Because, well, think about it. Because it's like, you're going
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: to have all these other people, Doctor Strange, that need
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: the limelight for a little bit. And it's like, do
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: we really need more Tony Stark? I mean, I want
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: more Tony Stark. Don't get me wrong. I want Iron
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: Man 4, 5, and 6. But I ain't going to
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: get it. So it's like, what if they break them
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: all up? And you get your Black Panther and your
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: Doctor Strange and whoever the fuck else.
- 1:22:47Speaker 5: Ant-Man is going to be in it.
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: Ant-Man is going to be the best goddamn movie of
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: all time. Let's just throw that on the fucking ground.
- 1:22:54Speaker 10: That trailer that opened before this when I'm just like.
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: That train scene is where it's at right there.
- 1:23:00Speaker 5: I'm still like it looks better than I expected. But
- 1:23:04Speaker 5: I'm still like on the fence.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: I'm just like. it could be good and then it
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: could really, you know, I mean, it could, it could,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:23:12Speaker 5: He's the domestic abuser though in the comic, right? Isn't
- 1:23:15Speaker 5: it Ant-Man? I don't know if it's the old one
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: or young one. I thought it was Ant-Man that beats
- 1:23:18Speaker 5: his wife. Oh, that's what bugs me about Ant-Man.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: That's the Michael Douglas character.
- 1:23:22Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: So it's, okay. I knew that one of the Ant-Mans
- 1:23:25Speaker 5: beat on his wife a little and so I never
- 1:23:27Speaker 5: really liked him. I was like, I don't, I don't
- 1:23:30Speaker 5: want that in my comic books. I don't need that
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: in my comic books. I don't read for that.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: The other thing I was going to say that I
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: was so impressed with is, and again, even just growth
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: from one movie to the next, because in the first Avengers,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: how not only were they sort of bickering, but when
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: they would get out there and fight, most of the
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: time it was just them, well, literally they're fighting each
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: other halfway into the movie, but even by the end,
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: they're all kind of doing their own thing, just like,
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: here's my awesome power, and I'm going to use it
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: to take care of this guy.
- 1:23:58Speaker 5: In this Avengers.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: the teamwork in Captain America is so amazing.
- 1:24:03Speaker 5: He hit his shield like three different times. Like one
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: time he baseball hit it and just shot it around.
- 1:24:08Speaker 5: One time he just hit it for the vibration. I was,
- 1:24:11Speaker 5: I wanted Hulk to throw Thor or someone in the
- 1:24:13Speaker 5: worst way. I was like, please, you know, do that
- 1:24:16Speaker 5: Colossus Wolverine tag team. Someone, Hulk, pick up someone and
- 1:24:19Speaker 5: throw them at something, please.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: Just the fact that so many different attacks in all
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: of the battles, like the one in the beginning and
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: the one in the end, like, involves more than one
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: of the team and i'm just like that's so impressive
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: and again showing that they've kind of gotten over most
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: of their bickering amongst themselves and like they are a
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: team and they not only work together as a team
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: but they battle as a team and like that was
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: really well put together that that i don't know that
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: there was that much thought into even the physical attacks
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: that they.
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: Were still working together definitely yeah i marked out for
- 1:24:56Speaker 5: Every single one of those. Every time he hit the shield,
- 1:24:58Speaker 5: I made some awkward geek noise. I always have mixed
- 1:25:02Speaker 5: feelings taking my girlfriend to those.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: She's like, I'm out of here.
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: One of these days, I'm afraid to just, one of
- 1:25:08Speaker 5: these days, she's just, I'm going to look over and
- 1:25:11Speaker 5: she's just going to be staring at me, not even
- 1:25:13Speaker 5: watching a movie, with just this weird look on her face.
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: You're leaving me for Marvel.
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: What am I doing? Thankfully, every time I geeked out
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: to that, she'd just be smiling too.
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: I'm like, good.
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: I'm allowed to be a super nerd for these two hours. Yeah,
- 1:25:28Speaker 5: that was excellent stuff. Man, I mean, how about that
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: Hulk fight, though? We've been talking about everything else.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: It's been built up for a while now.
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: They did a good job because of the buildup, I think.
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: I think it was.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: Cool that they made sure that Bruce Banner wasn't involved.
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: He even says, yeah, I know I helped build this.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: So it didn't because the way they were sort of
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: teasing it was almost like it was just Tony Stark going,
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: one of these days he's going to go off. So
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: I do like that even Bruce Bennett, and again, showing
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: his character continually being like more and more paranoid of like,
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: which all comes together in this.
- 1:26:04Speaker 10: Like you do see it happen.
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: And then I think that kind of goes into this
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: new like weird offshoot story for Banner that like he's
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: to the point now where, Not only does he, like,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: I don't think I can be part of the team,
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: I don't think I can be part of humanity.
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: Like, I have to isolate myself from the world.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: Did he go to an island or did he go
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: to space?
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: They didn't say. Okay.
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: He was talking about the island midway in, but that
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: was when Scarlet was still attached. So when he took off,
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: then it's like, now we don't really know.
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: That's where, again, that's where, you know, with the whole
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: where does this go from here, it's not confirmed if
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: he's going to have his own movie, but the rumors
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: are circulating.
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: That if he does have his own movie.
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: You can go two routes with it. You can go
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: Planet Hulk, which would be real interesting to see in
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: a movie. I almost feel like it'd be like Guardians
- 1:26:54Speaker 5: of the Galaxy. It's going to be one of those
- 1:26:55Speaker 5: ones where it's like, this is kind of a unique story.
- 1:27:02Speaker 5: You're going to have to really tiptoe to get this right.
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: They're going to get in trouble if they do it, man.
- 1:27:06Speaker 5: My thing is that scene in Infinity Wars is... afterwards
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: would be what's weird because Planet Hulk stuff happened after
- 1:27:11Speaker 5: Infinity War. So if you give mainstream audience that level
- 1:27:17Speaker 5: of growth for him to come back and be in
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: full control, you know, just be mentally sound and shit
- 1:27:23Speaker 5: as Hulk, that's kind of counter to some of the
- 1:27:27Speaker 5: main stuff that's going to happen in Infinity Wars because
- 1:27:29Speaker 5: Hulk's a big deal in the Infinity Wars.
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: I don't think they're going to have that Hulk storyline
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: from the comic book Infinity Wars and Infinity Wars. I like,
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: I have my own idea of what they should do
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: and they should just do it. And it should be
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: that he goes to space. He's a cameo in the
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: guardians of the galaxy. There was a rumor that though,
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: like in that, in that time, he figures out how
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: to control the Hulk. And so by the time infinity
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: wars movie rolls around and they all come back together,
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: that he can be like.
- 1:27:57Speaker 5: Oh, that would, that would be kind of nice though.
- 1:27:59Speaker 5: Like he comes back as planet Hulk, but he's always
- 1:28:01Speaker 5: been kicking it with the guardians for so long that
- 1:28:03Speaker 5: he's kind of, he's kind of still all right. He's not,
- 1:28:06Speaker 5: Because he goes off and lands on this gladiator planet
- 1:28:10Speaker 5: and learns to fight with a sword and a shield
- 1:28:12Speaker 5: and he's wearing armor and he takes over the planet
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: and comes back to Earth with his whole army. But
- 1:28:17Speaker 5: that's where it gets weird because it's like Doctor Strange,
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: Professor X, and a bunch of people are the ones
- 1:28:22Speaker 5: that shoot him out into space.
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: That could go. Again, they would have to change just
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: enough that it could it could then make it work
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: in this universe, but it could potentially spiral off and
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: mess it up in changing it just enough.
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: I feel like no Hulk movie has ever made it,
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: and you have to be very careful when they're treading
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: on glory.
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: I liked... Edward Norton.
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: I like the Edward.
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: Norton one a lot. I wish he wasn't.
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: The people don't.
- 1:28:47Speaker 5: Geeked out. Really? Did it not do well? Honestly, don't
- 1:28:49Speaker 5: pay enough attention.
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: Nobody likes it.
- 1:28:51Speaker 5: To me, he works.
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: So well as the side character that trying to make
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: him lead again could backfire and be like, wait, why
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: did we like him in these other movies? Because it
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: went two movies and really nobody cared.
- 1:29:03Speaker 5: And then Avengers, they loved him.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: So I'm just like, maybe that's his best place is
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: just keep him to be the big bad that you
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: bring in to kick everybody's ass at the end of
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: the battle.
- 1:29:13Speaker 5: It's like, In every crossover animated film or comic book thing,
- 1:29:17Speaker 5: anytime you put Hulk with someone else, it was always
- 1:29:20Speaker 5: the same story. Yeah, always. It was always the same story.
- 1:29:23Speaker 5: It was just, you know, you're going to get three
- 1:29:27Speaker 5: quarters of this is going to be filler. At some point,
- 1:29:30Speaker 5: Hulk's finally going to snap. Everyone's going to try to
- 1:29:34Speaker 5: beat him and not be able to do it.
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: It's a Toho Godzilla movie.
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: And we're going to bring out a girl to calm
- 1:29:37Speaker 5: him down. I forget what his girl's name was, but
- 1:29:38Speaker 5: that's how every single one ended. Every single one. You
- 1:29:41Speaker 5: could not beat him. They made it very clear. It's like,
- 1:29:43Speaker 5: you know, Hulk versus Iron Man, Hulk versus Thor, Hulk
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: versus Wolverine, Hulk versus Spider-Man, Hulk versus the Avengers. It
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: doesn't matter. You can't beat them. That's why, you know,
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: like I said, eventually Professor X, Doctor Strange, all these
- 1:29:54Speaker 5: people got together and shot him off into space. They're like,
- 1:29:56Speaker 5: he can't be beat, period. He just gets more mad.
- 1:29:59Speaker 5: He gets more strong, period. But I did like how
- 1:30:02Speaker 5: they kind of put Black Widow in that role, though.
- 1:30:04Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: And that really changed, like, you know, since his girl
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: isn't in it.
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: Which works so well with. what then becomes with their relationship.
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: But it is nice that it worked kind of both.
- 1:30:12Speaker 7: Of those angles.
- 1:30:13Speaker 5: I wonder how far back that goes, though, because, you know,
- 1:30:15Speaker 5: with her being the one that kind of recruited him,
- 1:30:16Speaker 5: I wonder if it was that long term of a
- 1:30:20Speaker 5: plan where, like, you know, she's going to be the
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: one who goes get some, she's going to be the
- 1:30:23Speaker 5: one he kind of trusts first.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: Well, she's going to lead to this, which is going
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: to lead to that. He also totally attacks her. Like,
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: that's the only, like, disturbing scene in that first one
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: is when, like, he goes after her and, like, that
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: like watching her kind of deal with like, that's the
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: point I thought we were kind of going to lose
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: her as like a character that always seemed to be
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: in control. That was the only time that she was like,
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: I can't stop him. Like I can't do any. So
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: it is interesting to see again, sort of a character
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: growth that like by the second one, she is the
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: one that can, like she is the only one that
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: comes in and is like, hey, all right, let's take
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: it down a notch now. And she's gotten, again, she's
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: in control of not only how she is handling the situation,
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: but is so in control, she's bringing him down. You
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: call it lullaby?
- 1:31:12Speaker 5: Yeah. I think we need a lullaby.
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: I thought that was so well done.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: That was really well done.
- 1:31:18Speaker 5: I've been saying, well, everyone's been saying it, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hulk,
- 1:31:23Speaker 5: these guys might not be strong enough to do movies
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: on their own. Black Widow is. Black Widow.
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: I don't know about Hawkeye, but Black Widow is.
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: I want like a Metal Gear Solid Black Widow movie.
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: Why not?
- 1:31:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, but do that then. Do the Black
- 1:31:35Speaker 5: Widow movie.
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: I mean, if you do it.
- 1:31:37Speaker 5: Hawkeye shows up to help, and Hulk shows up to help.
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: I mean, how?
- 1:31:40Speaker 5: Done. You got my money. I will go see it.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: If you do it as close to what they did
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: with Captain America 2, because you just make it very
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: real world. I mean, she's a human. She's an agent.
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: Just send it in as a mission thing and have
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: her be badass for an hour and a half. And
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: you can work in cameos, but she is a strong
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: enough character. She can carry any plot like that.
- 1:32:02Speaker 5: Because that'd be beautiful. Do Secret Wars and have Black...
- 1:32:04Speaker 5: I mean, that's espionage. That's her thing. Have it kind
- 1:32:07Speaker 5: of focus on Black Widow and Avengers eventually coming together
- 1:32:12Speaker 5: based on her story conflicts and stuff. That'd be awesome.
- 1:32:16Speaker 5: I'm all for that. I'd have to go see it again.
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: I do want to say on the Hawkeye thing, and again,
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: we've already touched on that spoiler, but they so set
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: it up to off him right there. They pulled the
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: classic cop slash war trope of like, anytime you're like,
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: it's the cop movie you're watching, it's like, man, one
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: week from retirement, sure hope nothing happens to me. Or
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: the Gear in a War movie. Here's a picture of
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: my girlfriend back home. I can't wait to get back
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: home with her. Ten minutes later, those guys are dead. So,
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: I mean, like, as soon as they introduced the family
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: and the wife and that little lovely house.
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: I was looking so forward to it.
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: And he was like, I'm going to remodel this room.
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, shit.
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: That room's never getting remodeled.
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: I'm like, he is, they are, especially after his whole
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: speech of.
- 1:33:06Speaker 5: Like, I'm a regular guy. Right. There's no hope for me.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: Like, I'm just like, oh.
- 1:33:10Speaker 10: So, I mean, again, I almost have to give it
- 1:33:12Speaker 10: to Joss for pulling back.
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: On that and being like, here's the fake out. you
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: think we're going to do what every other movie does. No,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: this young character that doesn't need to be killed.
- 1:33:20Speaker 5: Screw it. That's how I operate.
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: Like he will, he has no problem killing off characters
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: when he thinks they need to go.
- 1:33:26Speaker 5: And like George R.
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: Martin switched it up and was just like, Nope, this
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: is how we're doing things. So, I mean, I kind
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: of have to give him credit for not doing the
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: most cliche thing that he could have done.
- 1:33:37Speaker 5: And let's talk about his wife.
- 1:33:40Speaker 10: I've been saying forever, like, why is she not more stuff?
- 1:33:43Speaker 5: Cause she is so, that's, that's the girl from Freaks
- 1:33:46Speaker 5: and Geeks.
- 1:33:46Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: And for years I've been like, why are the two
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: main kids who are so awesome in that show? They're
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: the ones that didn't become superstars. Like everybody else is
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: huge now.
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: And then like, yeah.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: So, I mean, just seeing, I mean, she's, I think
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: I looked it up and she'd been doing some TV
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: show that I hadn't watched. So I just was missing
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: like her only other credit in the last few years.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: But yeah, I'm just like, all right, bring her into
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: more stuff.
- 1:34:09Speaker 10: Because she was awesome on that show. I want to
- 1:34:12Speaker 10: see her get more work.
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: That was just kind of an awesome little real world cameo.
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: I'm just like, good. She's doing more stuff again.
- 1:34:20Speaker 5: I'm still a big fan for Grandma's Boy. I still
- 1:34:23Speaker 5: think that movie's so good. But I mean, it's kind
- 1:34:26Speaker 5: of up my alley. It's a bunch of video game
- 1:34:29Speaker 5: geeky gamer kids. Geeks. But yeah, her being all blonde.
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: It's good stuff. I didn't recognize her at first. I
- 1:34:37Speaker 5: remember getting, like, halfway through the movie, and it's like,
- 1:34:39Speaker 5: where do I know this girl from? It took me, yeah.
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: Like, she came up, and I'm like, oh, look, she,
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: wait a minute. It was the second of, like, I
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: know her. Why do I know her? And I was like,
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: because I did just look her up recently, and I
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: don't think I hadn't seen that she was in there, but, like,
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: I'd seen a pic, because she was at, like, the
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: TV land, just gave, like, Freaks and Geeks a, like,
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: an award. Like, it was some sort of, like, bring
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: the whole cast back together. And she, and I'm sitting
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: there going, is that her? Cause I hadn't seen her
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: in so long. Like she looks so different now from
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: high school that I'm just like, so I had seen
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: her just recently enough when they did that TV land awards.
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: And I was like, no, wait, that is her. So yeah, she's,
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: she just needs to be more stuff.
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: She's awesome. I don't know.
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: The only other thing I was going to go into
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: is the fact that they, again, it being so well
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: developed in the real world and the overarching story that,
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: Because again, this is the kind of stuff you don't
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: see in dumb superhero movies. The fact that they are
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: concerned about what the press thinks about them. And we
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: started seeing that in Iron Man 2, where you see
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: him just eating up what a superstar he is. But
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: then now we see the backlash end of it. They're like, okay,
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: not only did we just trash this town, but the
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: entire world saw it. And now we're going to have
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: to deal with all the negative, not just press, but
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: people are legitimately going to hate the Hulk, if not
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: all of us.
- 1:35:59Speaker 5: I feel like it was tangible during the movie. I
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: feel like, again, that's why I think this leads directly
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: into Civil War, is that even though, as you mentioned,
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: they're constantly getting people out and stuff, there was a
- 1:36:11Speaker 5: part of me that's just like, when Iron Man has
- 1:36:14Speaker 5: Hulk and he's eyeballing that skyscraper, I'm like... You're going
- 1:36:18Speaker 5: to demolish a skyscraper.
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: In development for this.
- 1:36:23Speaker 5: You are about to obliterate a skyscraper in the middle
- 1:36:27Speaker 5: of a city that has not been evacuated for this.
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: And I'm like, this has to lead into civil wars.
- 1:36:35Speaker 5: This has to be... Like, they don't even.
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: In the comic books, it was a school gets blown
- 1:36:41Speaker 5: up with kids in it. That was the final straw.
- 1:36:44Speaker 5: You don't even need that, I think, right now. Between
- 1:36:46Speaker 5: these three huge, between New York, Wakanda, and wherever that
- 1:36:51Speaker 5: city was at then, that's plenty. The whole world is
- 1:36:54Speaker 5: definitely going to be mad enough to be like, you
- 1:36:57Speaker 5: guys need to step in line. Totally see that. That'll
- 1:37:03Speaker 5: help so much for a Civil War movie. Because you
- 1:37:06Speaker 5: don't have to establish that, really.
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't need the first 40 minutes.
- 1:37:09Speaker 5: We've built all that already into the series. You don't
- 1:37:10Speaker 5: even have to spend 40 minutes doing a dramatic, epic
- 1:37:14Speaker 5: loss with a bunch of sadness or something. It's like,
- 1:37:18Speaker 5: we know, just have it be the backlash from Avengers 2.
- 1:37:20Speaker 5: Be like, you guys killed this many people. You obliterated
- 1:37:25Speaker 5: this much people. It's like, you know, sign these papers.
- 1:37:28Speaker 5: You work for the government now.
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: Basically, it's going to be Gary Shandling sitting behind a
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: table going, you guys.
- 1:37:35Speaker 5: Well, they cast, oh, what's his name? Is it Martin?
- 1:37:39Speaker 5: Who's the dude that played Bilbo? Oh, yeah. Sherlock Holmes with.
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: Martin Freeman.
- 1:37:45Speaker 5: He's a Civil War. Yeah. So I assume he'll be
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: a politician, government agent of some kind. She's saying.
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: We know he's not a superhero. He's a hobbit.
- 1:37:59Speaker 5: But they already got Peter Dinklage on the X-Men side. Like,
- 1:38:02Speaker 5: you can't get any smaller than that.
- 1:38:04Speaker 8: Jesus.
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: He's awesome.
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: I love Peter Dinklage. We need that crossover.
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: The Dinkster.
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: So, I don't know.
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: I mean, was there anything?
- 1:38:12Speaker 10: I mean, we didn't really even go into Ultron much, but.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: I hated Ultron.
- 1:38:16Speaker 8: Really?
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: I thought it was a waste of time.
- 1:38:17Speaker 5: I had a lot of people, you know, when I
- 1:38:20Speaker 5: geeked out after the movie, there was a lot of
- 1:38:21Speaker 5: people that I talked to, and I was just like,
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: Ultron was kind of a wuss. I was like, look, dude,
- 1:38:27Speaker 5: he beat them in that first fight. Did you not
- 1:38:29Speaker 5: get that? Did you not get the part where they retreated?
- 1:38:31Speaker 5: They ran to Hawkeye's house because they got their ass kicked.
- 1:38:36Speaker 5: It's like, he won that first fight.
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: There were a couple parts of it. The Ultron thing
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: kind of let me down in three different areas. The
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: first one is the, I didn't like his mouth movement.
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: And this is a more serious thing about how like,
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: I I'm kind of let down that it's getting so
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: CG and I wish that they had like Iron Man
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: looked so good in the first and second one when
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: it was really just something that Robert Downey was wearing
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: with like, you could tell that like the big pieces
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: armor were real and there were little blue parts for the,
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: for the computer. And that's great. This is just like,
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: what's the, who's fucking the guy from the episode three
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: fucking the robot from star Wars episode three.
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: Grievous. General Grievous. Where it's just like, okay, so I
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: mean like.
- 1:39:21Speaker 5: Where he just looks like a transformer.
- 1:39:23Speaker 2: Well, yeah, it's just like if I want to watch
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: a cartoon, I'll watch a cartoon.
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: Well.
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: I want you to attempt to use some kind of
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: like a miniature or a something.
- 1:39:29Speaker 5: I did just read that today.
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: This has by far the most effects in any Marvel
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: movie ever. Yeah. Guardians had the closest.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: I see them gravitating away from the beauty that was
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: that first Iron Man film and that first Captain America
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: and I'm like, don't. It's so easy and I know
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: that it looks amazing but like, you all built this
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: whole thing on a foundation of good looking shit. Like
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: you could just CG Captain America's outfit and have the
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: green lantern.
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: You could do it.
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: And it would be, it would be cheap and it
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: would be easy, but everybody would hate you. The other
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: thing about Ultron for me was you probably felt this
- 1:40:10Speaker 2: with the comic books. I'm pointing towards David where when
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: the whole Ultron arc was building, um, it was what
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: we think of now as like the Thanos arc is building.
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: Ultron building was the end of times and Ultron is
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: the greatest thing of all time. And I felt that
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: they did that really well with like the marketing behind
- 1:40:29Speaker 2: the movie. But then the movie came out and it's like, actually,
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: and this wasn't bad, but like actually the movie is
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: about this character development and these people and their problems
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: and we're building up for civil war. And oh yeah,
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: there's this Ultron.
- 1:40:40Speaker 5: I agree.
- 1:40:41Speaker 2: I feel kind of like they wasted Ultron.
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: But for what they did, I do like the way
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: that they worked it in. It was good. I like
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: that it wasn't Tony Stark just being crazy on his own. Again,
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: I like that he's working with Banner. He's so convincing
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: that Banner's like, all right, fine. You're right. We do
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: need something.
- 1:41:00Speaker 5: I like the whole mad scientist speech. Yeah, but he's right.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: Again, that's taking this universe and he's like, we need
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: a better plan and this could be it. If it
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: goes right, this is it. It didn't go right, but
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: I'm like, I do like the way that he built
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: it up and the reasoning behind it was sound enough
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: that you're like, yeah, it's kind of worth a shot.
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: I think it was a good way of getting Vision
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: into the movie.
- 1:41:23Speaker 5: I was going to say that ultimately, it's more like
- 1:41:25Speaker 5: Age of Vision than Age of Ultron. The other thing that.
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: Bothered me about that is like, well, if you're going
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: to bring Vision into the movie and all the comic
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: book people know who Vision is, Vision can snap his
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: fucking fingers and Ultron's done. Or at least all Ultron's
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: minions are done. So like, are we bringing Vision in
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: just to make him a bigger deal in later movies?
- 1:41:44Speaker 5: Probably.
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: But if you bring him in, like, fucking, you've got it.
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: You've got Scarlet Witch and you've got Vision.
- 1:41:49Speaker 5: The wars won.
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: Like, I don't know if they didn't give them the, like,
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: list of magical powers, but you just won it all.
- 1:41:58Speaker 5: There was this little comic book story arc called House
- 1:42:00Speaker 5: of M where Scarlet Witch had enough and essentially pushed
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: the great big reset button on the universe. Like, she is, like,
- 1:42:09Speaker 5: Everything that Dark Phoenix was, everything that Professor X was,
- 1:42:13Speaker 5: she's that and then some. I mean, it was all
- 1:42:17Speaker 5: comic books being stupid and killing people off and doing
- 1:42:20Speaker 5: stupid stuff, and they need a reason to set everything
- 1:42:22Speaker 5: straight again. But she was the one that used to
- 1:42:24Speaker 5: do it, so she gets the credit. She was the
- 1:42:26Speaker 5: one that was strong enough to alter reality. I mean,
- 1:42:29Speaker 5: she's not just some little girl that just gets in
- 1:42:32Speaker 5: your head. But I thought it was neat that Ultron
- 1:42:37Speaker 5: was so much like Tony Stark. Yeah. I thought that
- 1:42:40Speaker 5: was kind of a neat twist on it where instead
- 1:42:42Speaker 5: of just being this kind of ambiguous Skynet in a body,
- 1:42:46Speaker 5: it was more of like he was using his mannerisms
- 1:42:50Speaker 5: and he was talking like him and was like upset
- 1:42:52Speaker 5: about it.
- 1:42:53Speaker 2: Unless you've seen the black one.
- 1:42:54Speaker 5: Kind of shut it back to Blade Runner a little
- 1:42:55Speaker 5: to me. I was like the way he kind of
- 1:42:57Speaker 5: hates his maker and wants to kill his maker.
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: What I thought was cool and it's very obviously considering
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: they quote it, but like the Pinocchio.
- 1:43:06Speaker 5: Yeah, the Pinocchio.
- 1:43:06Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: That was.
- 1:43:07Speaker 5: That could have been really silly. It made me think
- 1:43:10Speaker 5: a little bit of the Itsy Bitsy Spider and Spider-Man 2,
- 1:43:12Speaker 5: but it worked here. I was like, this is really cool.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: I was like, number one, it's really convenient that you
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: guys just bought that company. The higher-ups making this movie
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: now own all of this property, so it's fine that
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: you use that reference. And second of all, I was like,
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: but damn, it kind of worked really good. Because it
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: really is this creature becoming a sentient being, and him
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: sort of dealing with that in the most messed up
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: way that he can, which is just start annihilating people
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: basically and, and becoming power hungry and that he can
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: create his own army in the process.
- 1:43:44Speaker 5: And again, it's for, for what it did. I agree.
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: It probably isn't as big an arc as it should
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: have been, but given that they don't have, again, back
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: to our reference earlier, they don't have 13 episodes to
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: stretch it out over. Cause that's probably what this could
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: have been.
- 1:43:59Speaker 5: And it would have been awesome.
- 1:44:00Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: Netflix series, which they've got three more coming, so we'll see.
- 1:44:04Speaker 5: Well, they made their choice. They chose that Thanos and
- 1:44:07Speaker 5: Infinity Gauntlet is going to be the big one.
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: It's a six and a half hour movie.
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: Even though things like Civil War were huge and a
- 1:44:14Speaker 5: year long.
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: If you had it written out on paper and you're like,
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: we want to do Ultron, we want to do Civil War,
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: it's like, Thanos.
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: And this was the fill-in, I think. I'm pretty sure
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: I read that they wanted to go straight to Thanos.
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: And Joss said, we're not ready for that yet. We
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: need to get to it. let's go with Voltron now.
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: Just let him run Marvel. He doesn't want to. It's
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: going to kill him.
- 1:44:37Speaker 4: Do it.
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: Who cares? He will die in glory. Are you kidding me?
- 1:44:41Speaker 2: People will know his name more than Gandhi.
- 1:44:43Speaker 5: He's already a geek god.
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: He is.
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: Think of everything he did for TV. I mean, that
- 1:44:48Speaker 5: alone made him a geek god. And now what he's
- 1:44:50Speaker 5: done with Marvel.
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: It's like.
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: And the fact that he continues to do... Again, the
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: cast keeps getting bigger. He not only keeps.
- 1:44:59Speaker 5: It all straight.
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: but they all interact perfectly together. In the middle of
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: the scene with our old superheroes, you've got Falcon come in,
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: and the back and forth with him and Captain are
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: so good.
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: I hate Don Cheadle. I hate Don Cheadle. I hate
- 1:45:16Speaker 2: Don Cheadle. He was so good in this movie with
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: that fucking story, though.
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: He's so much fun.
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: It's all you need from him.
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: I wish we could CG him back into the first
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: Iron Man, because now I'm just like, ugh. Nobody likes
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: that guy, including Robert Downey Jr. So I'm like, let's
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: just put Don Cheadle in all these now, which I
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: think that's kind of fun because even as Robert Downey Jr.
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: is sort of backing out of this, we've.
- 1:45:38Speaker 5: Still got Iron Man. I mean, War Machine is Iron Man.
- 1:45:41Speaker 7: Come on.
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: We still have Iron Man as the machine coming in
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: to do what Iron Man needs to do for the
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: practical purposes. Sadly, it's not Robert Downey Jr., but again,
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: we're still filling the void of Iron Man with what
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: is essentially Iron Man with a big gun.
- 1:45:59Speaker 5: So I don't know.
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: I think I'm more impressed with that, that not only
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: that cast from last time, but now expanding all these
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: side characters in and keeping it all not only straight.
- 1:46:08Speaker 5: But well thought out, continuing.
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: To like improve the dynamic between the characters and still
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: keeping the overarching story going.
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: Like it's, it's so damn impressive, which is like, again,
- 1:46:21Speaker 5: not to DC bash again, but on the flip, you know,
- 1:46:26Speaker 5: The other thing, the other choice, the only other choice
- 1:46:28Speaker 5: would have been to kind of go what kind of
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: looks like a DC route of just introducing like eight
- 1:46:33Speaker 5: people in one movie. And just throwing them out there.
- 1:46:35Speaker 5: Which one is going to work better? Like eight people
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: you've seen in eight different movies coming together or eight
- 1:46:40Speaker 5: people that show up at the same time and you
- 1:46:42Speaker 5: don't know jack about them. So yeah, that's like what
- 1:46:47Speaker 5: I've said before. I just said earlier, it's like in
- 1:46:50Speaker 5: movie history, like.
- 1:46:52Speaker 5: How hard would it ever be to recreate this again?
- 1:46:54Speaker 5: What's even another story?
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: Another, yeah, another.
- 1:46:57Speaker 5: Yeah, there's not. Anything that you could do this with again.
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: I mean, somebody.
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: Eventually will come along and try to do.
- 1:47:04Speaker 5: Something like this. I mean, the only thing I could
- 1:47:06Speaker 5: think of is, like, supposedly this next X-Men movie is
- 1:47:09Speaker 5: supposed to. Somebody would.
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: I mean, I guess comic industry is really the only
- 1:47:15Speaker 5: thing where you really could.
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: Just because there are so many people. Again, during the break,
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: we had our offshoot Star Wars story. I mean, Star
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: Wars is a big enough universe. You could set up
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: so many little side movies and then by the end
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: have them all come into a big... I mean, there's
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: enough geeks out there. You could do another epic version
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: of this. This is a lot of movies, though. I
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: gotta say, this is a huge tie-in.
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: I cannot wait for the DC box-out.
- 1:47:39Speaker 5: I think when it's all said and done, it's supposed
- 1:47:40Speaker 5: to be 22 movies? Something like that. I'm gonna say
- 1:47:43Speaker 5: it's almost two dozen movies by the time Infinity War
- 1:47:46Speaker 5: 2 ends.
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: That's a huge plan that's going pretty well so far.
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: Billions and billions and billions of dollars.
- 1:47:55Speaker 5: So I wonder if that means Avengers 3 is Thanos,
- 1:47:58Speaker 5: because I just assume Infinity Wars, if you're doing two
- 1:48:00Speaker 5: movies of it, that it would be two movies of Thanos.
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: It's Avengers 3 Part 1, Part 2, right?
- 1:48:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:48:07Speaker 5: Oh, is that?
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, it's both.
- 1:48:09Speaker 5: I had that confused. I thought there was a Phase
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: 3 and then Infinity, but no, that makes sense then. Yeah,
- 1:48:15Speaker 5: that's how it is. Yeah, so we are setting it
- 1:48:17Speaker 5: up now, aren't we? It's about that time.
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: The next official Avengers phase is all of that.
- 1:48:22Speaker 5: We've only seen three stones though. I believe the purple
- 1:48:26Speaker 5: power one and guardians, the yellow ones in vision. That's mine.
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: And then the snippet at the end of one of
- 1:48:32Speaker 5: the Thors.
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: No, the red one is in Thor 2, The Dark World.
- 1:48:35Speaker 5: Is that the one they give to the collector? Because
- 1:48:37Speaker 5: at the end of one of the Thor movies, it
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: shows a scene where.
- 1:48:39Speaker 2: So you've seen four. Because there is a snippet where
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: he gives two to the collector.
- 1:48:44Speaker 5: Does he give two?
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: Okay. He gives two.
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: And then one you don't see the powers for. And
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: that is the time stone, which will probably be in your.
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: Is it Doctor Strange?
- 1:48:53Speaker 5: Because there's technically six though, right?
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 1:48:56Speaker 5: Because there's one on each knuckle, one on the thumb,
- 1:48:58Speaker 5: but there's also one on the top of the hand.
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: The gravity stone.
- 1:49:02Speaker 5: Is that what it is?
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: I think so. So are you going to talk about
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: the left-handed glove right here?
- 1:49:11Speaker 5: That's what I was just going to say. If you
- 1:49:12Speaker 5: look in the Thor movie.
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: The first one.
- 1:49:16Speaker 5: Odin.
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: Odin's brocade.
- 1:49:17Speaker 5: Has the right hand. Odin has the right. If you look,
- 1:49:20Speaker 5: like at some point passing in a hallway, you see
- 1:49:22Speaker 5: the right-handed infinity gauntlet with no stones in it.
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: It had the stones.
- 1:49:27Speaker 5: It had the stones.
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: It has the stones in it. Well, it has colors,
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: and they don't look like stones.
- 1:49:32Speaker 10: Just a place for those stones to go.
- 1:49:34Speaker 2: Maybe it is, and people have speculated, but how much
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: cooler does it make Ragnarok sound when at the end
- 1:49:39Speaker 2: of this movie, not only is Thor thinking, hey, I've
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: got to go and figure out why these people think
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: I've killed them, but also, where the fuck.
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: Is that glove?
- 1:49:50Speaker 2: And the whole, why would the ancient elders of the universe...
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: did they only have one hand? Why did they make
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: one glove?
- 1:49:59Speaker 5: They really love Michael Jackson.
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: And like, what's going on with Loki being Odin?
- 1:50:03Speaker 5: Oh, we didn't talk about that. Loki had a scene cut.
- 1:50:06Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:50:06Speaker 10: I heard they shot something and just took it out.
- 1:50:09Speaker 2: Does anybody know what it is though? I'm kind of
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: glad he did because Loki gets a lot of play.
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: Loki, as much as I like him.
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: And I love Loki. Yeah, I love that character.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: See that, and that's what I was going to say
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: I think is an improvement with this is I think
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: we get a pretty, like at least, the James Spader
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: version of, again, whether or not the overarching story, but
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: I feel like he's a, he's a pretty decent villain
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: as far as just the way he presents himself where
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: Loki never really was. Like we almost didn't have a
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: villain in that first one. He plays both sides. He's
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: so likable in the way, again, like you forget that
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: you're supposed to not like him.
- 1:50:43Speaker 5: He's Starscream.
- 1:50:44Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:50:44Speaker 5: Everyone has read a comic, you know, every time he's Starscream,
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: he's going to take a shot at Megatron every, he's
- 1:50:51Speaker 5: going to be his yes man.
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: All along, but in the end, he's going to try
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: to backstab you. So, yeah, it's like I felt like
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: we didn't. And then you get to the whatever those
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: aliens are that come in. That's always my knock on
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: the first one is like, I could care less about those.
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: They're not characters. They're just something for them to fight.
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: It's an awesome fight scene. But I'm like, I could
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: care less about those characters where at least I feel
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: like Spader does a good performance with it. And we
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: get a little bit of a real villain in this one.
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: So it'll be interesting to see when we come around
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: to the third one. He's a real villain. Like, it's
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: going to be a real.
- 1:51:24Speaker 5: With Thanos being, from what I can tell, completely CGI.
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm so disappointed.
- 1:51:30Speaker 5: I really hope they change up somehow beforehand. I do, too.
- 1:51:32Speaker 5: I hope that somehow before that last one, they get
- 1:51:34Speaker 5: a guy in an outfit that they can enhance that
- 1:51:37Speaker 5: looks at least close.
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: Well, you know who it is. What's his face?
- 1:51:41Speaker 5: Oh, is he Cas?
- 1:51:41Speaker 2: Thanos is played by... Yeah, since the first one, he's...
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: No Country for Old Men. The good guy. God, who's
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: the guy?
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: Old boy remake.
- 1:51:52Speaker 5: Oh, Josh Brolin.
- 1:51:53Speaker 2: It's Josh Brolin. It's his face CG'd and his voice
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: and he does the whole Smeagol thing and acts with
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: the thing.
- 1:52:02Speaker 5: So it is a physical person. It looks so CG
- 1:52:04Speaker 5: on me that I thought it wasn't even a person.
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: It's his face taken and put into a computer and
- 1:52:08Speaker 2: then made bigger. You can see his face looks like
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: Josh Brolin, but it's CG'd.
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: That's the thing I just heard that I didn't know
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: was that Spader was there.
- 1:52:17Speaker 5: Yeah. Like he circused it.
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: Like he was on set with giant like red balls
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: where the eyes are supposed to be for his character
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: doing the performance. I thought he just sat in a
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: room and did the voiceover later, but he was on set.
- 1:52:30Speaker 2: That's the kind of shit that makes it. And that's
- 1:52:32Speaker 2: the kind of shit that I'm like, don't CG these people.
- 1:52:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:52:35Speaker 2: Like Indiana Jones worked real fucking well. Not the fourth one.
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: Worked real fucking well. And it's like, You don't need CGI. Okay,
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: when the Hulk transforms and when you throw him through construction,
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: we got a CG, right? When your arm's forced, but
- 1:52:54Speaker 2: for the most part, oh, for the love of God,
- 1:52:56Speaker 2: just make it. Like these Star Wars movies are looking
- 1:52:59Speaker 2: real good, and I bet there's some fucking sets, you know?
- 1:53:02Speaker 2: I bet there might even be little models at some point,
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: because that shit works. Just let the guy do them all, Joss.
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: Joss, if you're listening, we'd really like you to finish
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: out the set.
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: Get a fucking senzu bean.
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: Eat that shit.
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: Good to go.
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: Why don't you become his personal trainer slash... I'll.
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: Take care of you.
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: All of your nutrition is.
- 1:53:27Speaker 5: I'll be his master Roshi.
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: I'll be his master Roshi.
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: I'll give you the acupuncture and the herbs.
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: Be in his corner to take care of him.
- 1:53:35Speaker 2: I'll give you a room and you just go in
- 1:53:37Speaker 2: there and don't come out and write your little stories.
- 1:53:39Speaker 5: I'll just feed at the end of the day.
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: And on that bombshell.
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: And on that. Just picture that, Patrick.
- 1:53:50Speaker 5: Be prepared for some super fast, hard action. Like, seriously.
- 1:53:56Speaker 5: I know I've said it like three times already on
- 1:53:58Speaker 5: the podcast. Probably a dozen off. But the action is...
- 1:54:01Speaker 5: There's so much going on.
- 1:54:02Speaker 4: So much.
- 1:54:02Speaker 2: It's too much action.
- 1:54:03Speaker 5: It's so intense that.
- 1:54:06Speaker 2: You have to watch it.
- 1:54:07Speaker 5: I want to watch it.
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: How many Avengers are there?
- 1:54:08Speaker 6: Five?
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: You got to watch it five times.
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: I get on Blu-ray.
- 1:54:11Speaker 8: Like, I.
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: Stop, rewind, pause.
- 1:54:14Speaker 9: Exactly.
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: I will probably absolutely watch every chapter multiple times until
- 1:54:18Speaker 5: I feel like I got it. Because there's so much
- 1:54:20Speaker 5: great stuff going on. And where my eye was, I
- 1:54:23Speaker 5: was very happy what I was seeing, but I was
- 1:54:25Speaker 5: aware that there's like a third of the screen I
- 1:54:28Speaker 5: can't focus on at the same time. And there's so
- 1:54:30Speaker 5: much great stuff going on.
- 1:54:31Speaker 2: Even from the trailer, I thought the first Kung Fu
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: Panda jump scene was going to be stupid. And it
- 1:54:36Speaker 2: felt so good.
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: Even knowing it's coming.
- 1:54:38Speaker 10: When you're in the theater, yeah, you're like, what's going
- 1:54:41Speaker 10: to happen?
- 1:54:42Speaker 5: Even when it did it was funny like being in
- 1:54:44Speaker 5: a theater and hearing like people audibly like you hear
- 1:54:47Speaker 5: people like oh like you heard people like make noise
- 1:54:50Speaker 5: to it and it's like how.
- 1:54:51Speaker 2: Dumb is that but it's so marvel it's like did
- 1:54:53Speaker 2: you see big hero six yes okay like the very
- 1:54:57Speaker 2: first scene when he's like trolling the guy and they're
- 1:55:00Speaker 2: doing the bot fights and his little bot does like
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: the marvel and you're like i'm like oh that's fucking
- 1:55:06Speaker 2: awesome oh my god this just made the whole movie
- 1:55:09Speaker 2: for me.
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: At least it makes me think of Power Rangers.
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:55:11Speaker 5: I see people do that kind of pose. I think
- 1:55:14Speaker 5: Big Hero 6 can be in Infinity Wars.
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: That would be sick if it was like Thanos had
- 1:55:18Speaker 2: them all dead and then that little guy.
- 1:55:20Speaker 5: And he comes up and heals Hulk.
- 1:55:21Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:55:22Speaker 5: And then Hulk beats him.
- 1:55:23Speaker 2: He's like, my telemetry says that you have sustainable damage.
- 1:55:27Speaker 5: Zero gamma rating. Camera rating 100%.
- 1:55:31Speaker 2: Would this make you feel better?
- 1:55:34Speaker 5: He gives him a lollipop.
- 1:55:35Speaker 11: Right?
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: We can jump out a window.
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: Hulk likes lollipops.
- 1:55:43Speaker 5: I think so.
- 1:55:46Speaker 9: Alright.
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: I think we've addressed our Marvel geekiness.
- 1:55:49Speaker 5: I think geek out accomplished. Now I have to go
- 1:55:55Speaker 5: see it again. Alright.
- 1:55:56Speaker 3: Alright.
- 1:55:57Speaker 5: Otherwise, that about does it.
- 1:55:58Speaker 10: I'm sure this geek trio will return in the near future.
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: But otherwise, we shall return. Same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:56:11Speaker 11: Let me show you a place where everything's wonderful.
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: We never lose a girlfriend.
- 1:56:18Speaker 11: Well, you gotta be hard if you wanna fight crime.
- 1:56:22Speaker 2: My hair, my abs.
- 1:56:23Speaker 11: Sometimes life gets dangerous when there's a new bad guy.
- 1:56:31Speaker 11: But we're not scared, and I'll tell you why.
- 1:56:38Speaker 10: Jarvis, drop a beat.
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. That offends me.
- 1:57:14Speaker 11: Let me show you a world that's always appropriate.
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: Cause I got my special stretchy pants. Where the only
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: romance I.
- 1:57:21Speaker 11: Want is one dance.
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: And he doesn't even get it.
- 1:57:24Speaker 11: Where guys with goatees are friendly and science geeks are buff.
- 1:57:29Speaker 11: No one needs a secret identity except like Widow who
- 1:57:32Speaker 11: tears some bad stuff. There's no world like the Avengers
- 1:57:36Speaker 11: where there's not much to avenge. Where radiation poisoning's a
- 1:57:40Speaker 11: good thing and your wounds are magically mend.
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: Welcome to a world of civilians who are all in
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: mortal danger, but you never really see any die.
- 1:57:58Speaker 7: A world where Tony Stark created Ultron, because things are
- 1:58:01Speaker 7: so perfect that we gotta make our own bad guy.
- 1:58:03Speaker 5: And yes, there are some problems with S.H.I.E.L.D.
- 1:58:05Speaker 9: Not this S.H.I.E.L.D.
- 1:58:05Speaker 5: But their cover-ups are.
- 1:58:06Speaker 10: Sloppier than what's beneath this pack.
- 1:58:08Speaker 9: Gross.
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: So feast your eyes on a world so groovy that
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: a female superhero can get her own movie.
- 1:58:14Speaker 5: Guys, come on, you all have your own.
- 1:58:16Speaker 11: Cause there's no world like the Avengers, where no one's
- 1:58:20Speaker 11: really dead. We brought back Bucky, Bones, Coulson, Loki, and Fury,
- 1:58:25Speaker 11: and fans don't feel misled.
- 1:58:27Speaker 5: And this movie's not out, but.
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: We've all signed for a third. So you can bet no.
- 1:58:33Speaker 11: One's dying in the Avengers world.
- 1:58:36Speaker 5: Because you can bet nobody's dying in the Avengers world.
- 1:58:44Speaker 2: Excelsior.
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: Cameo.
