  Speaker 2: We have officially opened up our registration and people are starting to sign up and I can just feel the anticipation building inside of me for it.

  Speaker 2: And you know, Kimberly, you and I are starting to spend time praying and dreaming and asking God exactly what he wants this conference to look like, Because every Ruach conference we do is a little different from the last because it's based on who's there and what they're hungry to learn and what they want to know about and what God is laying on our heart for this particular group of people.

  Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness, I don't have 13 weeks to do this, right, because summer's busy and crazy.

  Speaker 2: It's broken down into 13 lessons, but a lot of those teaching videos are just about 20 minutes long, so you can find ways from now until the end of the summer to get through the study at whatever pace you want, to do it with yourself or with a group of friends, and so we're going to be offering it at a discount rate to encourage people to go through the study, to refresh the ideas and the principles of Ruach journey in their mind, to get their hearts ready for what we're going to have in October.

  Speaker 2: July 4th in the United States is Independence Day, a time when Americans celebrate words like liberty and freedom.

  Speaker 2: We, as humans, often pride ourselves on our independence and self-sufficiency.

  Speaker 2: We admire the idea of the self-made man.
• 3:58
  Speaker 2: We often equate independence with freedom.

  Speaker 2: But Jesus taught us something very different.

  Speaker 2: Jesus said in John 8, 31, if you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

  Speaker 2: True freedom comes not from independence, but utter dependence on God.

  Speaker 2: Jesus said If you abide in my word.

  Speaker 2: Abiding is not a one-time act, it's a continual choice made to stay with him.

  Speaker 2: He also said the truth will set you free.

  Speaker 2: Truth is not a concept, it's a person.

  Speaker 2: Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life, in John 14 6.

  Speaker 2: Through abiding dependence on him, we will know him, who is truth, and he, the truth, will set us free.

  Speaker 2: No one who has walked the earth has experienced more freedom than he did.

  Speaker 2: And yet he was not independent.

  Speaker 2: He spoke often of how utterly dependent he was on His Father.

  Speaker 2: He said he could do nothing by himself, but could only do what he sees his father doing Complete and utter dependence on his father.

  Speaker 2: It is human nature to try to do things on our own.

  Speaker 2: It's a story as old as the Garden of Eden.

  Speaker 2: We try to fix things we weren't meant to try to fix.

  Speaker 2: We carry burdens we weren't meant to carry.

  Speaker 2: We sometimes do it without even realizing we're doing it.

  Speaker 2: What freedom we could experience if we would let go of it all and say, like Jesus, I can do nothing on my own.

  Speaker 2: Jesus wants us to celebrate Dependence Day so that we may enter into his rest and freedom.

  Speaker 2: I want to lean into you and trust you with everything in my life.

  Speaker 2: I acknowledge my total dependence on you For whatever I am facing.

  Speaker 2: I am choosing to declare my dependence on you and you alone.

  Speaker 2: I declare God, you are sovereign and all authority and power are yours.
