- 0:01Speaker 1: Well, Hi, is this Sarah? By any chance it is Sarah.
- 0:06Speaker 2: This is Gabe Glinton and Angie from Big ninety eight
- 0:09Speaker 2: point seven.
- 0:09Speaker 1: How are you doing today?
- 0:10Speaker 3: Not too bad? How are you?
- 0:11Speaker 2: I'm doing great? Thanks for asking, Sarah. We know that
- 0:14Speaker 2: you nominated someone named Ashley for a big Christmas wish
- 0:20Speaker 2: this year.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Can you tell us a little bit about Ashley? How
- 0:22Speaker 1: do you know her? Is she a friend or a
- 0:23Speaker 1: family member?
- 0:25Speaker 3: Well, she's a friend and we've also were co workers
- 0:27Speaker 3: as well. So when I first met Ashley, we worked
- 0:30Speaker 3: at the Boulevard together in West Fargo and she was
- 0:35Speaker 3: my supervisor.
- 0:36Speaker 4: She is a single mom. Well she's engaged now, but
- 0:40Speaker 4: she was a single mom and basically takes care of
- 0:42Speaker 4: her kids and like does everything like the dad basically
- 0:48Speaker 4: he is a part of their life, but he doesn't
- 0:49Speaker 4: want to unless he's kind of forced into.
- 0:51Speaker 5: A type of a thing. So like, she goes above
- 0:52Speaker 5: and beyond for her kids. She's also a social worker
- 0:55Speaker 5: house like for child protection, so she does, like obvi
- 1:00Speaker 5: please things for other children as well. But she has
- 1:04Speaker 5: a single mom. As most single moms.
- 1:05Speaker 4: They don't get to give back to themselves as much
- 1:07Speaker 4: as they would like to.
- 1:08Speaker 3: So I want to dominate her because she does is it?
- 1:11Speaker 2: My wife is also a social worker a lot like Ashley,
- 1:15Speaker 2: And I know the type of work that social workers do.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I know what all goes into that, and a lot
- 1:22Speaker 2: it can be a thankless job. So it's just a
- 1:25Speaker 2: job that sometimes goes unnoticed and maybe is not as
- 1:30Speaker 2: highlighted as it should be. And so when we saw
- 1:33Speaker 2: this me personally, this just kind of touched my heart
- 1:36Speaker 2: a little extra because I know the type of person
- 1:39Speaker 2: it takes to be a social worker.
- 1:40Speaker 6: Correct, absolutely well, we love that you just love Ashley
- 1:45Speaker 6: so much and you had it in your heart to
- 1:47Speaker 6: nominate her for a Big Christmas Wish, So we want
- 1:50Speaker 6: to go ahead and grant that.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Hello, Hi, is this Ashley? By any chance? This is Ashley.
- 1:59Speaker 2: This is Abe Glidden and Angie from Big ninety eight
- 2:02Speaker 2: point seven the radio station, and here on the morning show,
- 2:06Speaker 2: we have a program called the Big Christmas Wish.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Have you ever heard of this?
- 2:11Speaker 4: I have.
- 2:12Speaker 2: There is someone who let us know a little bit
- 2:15Speaker 2: about how you go above and beyond for basically, anyone,
- 2:21Speaker 2: do you know who Sarah is?
- 2:22Speaker 7: I do?
- 2:23Speaker 8: Yes.
- 2:24Speaker 1: How do you know Sarah?
- 2:26Speaker 7: I've known her for quite a few years her and
- 2:29Speaker 7: I worked together. That's where we first met back in
- 2:31Speaker 7: twenty sixteen, and then we currently work together.
- 2:35Speaker 8: Now we understand that you are a social worker. Can
- 2:39Speaker 8: you tell us a little bit about what got you
- 2:41Speaker 8: into that line of work?
- 2:43Speaker 7: Yeah, I get growing up, I kind of had like
- 2:45Speaker 7: more of a rough childhood, So I think that just
- 2:48Speaker 7: made me want to just grow up and help families
- 2:51Speaker 7: and try to make a difference. So yeah, I work
- 2:54Speaker 7: at Clay Commie and that's what I do. I do
- 2:56Speaker 7: ongoing child protection case management.
- 2:59Speaker 8: Sarah said that you are really dedicated to your work
- 3:04Speaker 8: and that you go above and beyond and that you
- 3:08Speaker 8: never ask for anything in return, and that's what made
- 3:12Speaker 8: her nominate you for a big Christmas wish. She just
- 3:15Speaker 8: thinks that you deserve to know that you're loved too
- 3:19Speaker 8: for all that you do.
- 3:21Speaker 7: Oh just going to cry.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's totally okay, Ashley.
- 3:24Speaker 2: We know when you hear i'll love you off from
- 3:27Speaker 2: other people, it can really make you feel things and
- 3:30Speaker 2: feel an emotion. We also know that right now might
- 3:32Speaker 2: be an exciting time because you're engaged, but for a
- 3:36Speaker 2: long stretch there, you were a single mom and had
- 3:40Speaker 2: a lot of the child raising duties kind of thrown into.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Your lap by yourself. Yeah, I was, Ashley.
- 3:47Speaker 2: If you don't know this, my wife is also a
- 3:50Speaker 2: social worker, so I know the type of person that
- 3:54Speaker 2: it takes to do that line of work. I know
- 3:56Speaker 2: sometimes it can feel like a thankless job. Maybe people
- 4:00Speaker 2: don't recognize the type of person and all of the
- 4:03Speaker 2: work that goes into being a social worker. And you
- 4:06Speaker 2: said you, for the most part work with kids, right.
- 4:09Speaker 7: Yeah, yep, I work with their parents and then also
- 4:13Speaker 7: like the children.
- 4:14Speaker 2: We want to grant you a Christmas wish this year because,
- 4:19Speaker 2: as Sarah said, we want you to know that you
- 4:21Speaker 2: are loved and appreciated for all of your hard works.
- 4:25Speaker 8: So we're gonna go ahead and grant you a big
- 4:27Speaker 8: Christmas wish of five hundred dollars.
- 4:31Speaker 7: Oh my gosh, thank you so much.
- 4:34Speaker 8: And you know, now that you're engaged, maybe you can
- 4:36Speaker 8: put that towards the wedding, maybe you can put that
- 4:39Speaker 8: towards some holiday gifts, whatever you want. But that five
- 4:42Speaker 8: hundred dollars is just for you because you deserve it. Girl.
- 4:47Speaker 7: Thank you, I appreciate it.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Sarah.
- 4:49Speaker 2: While we still have you on the phone, what would
- 4:51Speaker 2: you like to tell Ashley that
- 4:53Speaker 3: She's amazing and she's like my best friend.
