Transcript
- 0:01Hello, welcome to He's Hot But something's off with me.
- 0:03Just Joey T After two weeks we are back.
- 0:09Oh my God, it's been. It's been a bit of a two weeks
- 0:13and we'll get right into White Party Bangkok very shortly.
- 0:18But it is Wednesday the 10th that I'm recording This.
- 0:23I had planned for the podcast to take just a one week break.
- 0:27I think at the very end of the year, that week between
- 0:30Christmas and New Year's, you know, like no one's doing
- 0:35anything. I feel like that's kind of like
- 0:37the one holiday week where like, people can just stop working.
- 0:42And by the way, you're not paying for this podcast.
- 0:44I can do whatever I want. But I did plan to take a break
- 0:48and I did announce it that one week.
- 0:51And my plan was David Lamb was supposed to, and he did visit me
- 0:58in Los Angeles right after New Year's.
- 1:01We were in Bangkok together. And then he had a thing where he
- 1:06was in LA for like a couple of days and I was going to record a
- 1:12podcast with him and do a a a pot together about how White
- 1:18Party Bangkok went for us over New Year's.
- 1:22But we both got sick and we were not in good enough of a
- 1:28condition to really be talking for 30 or 40 minutes.
- 1:31And that's also why we did not have a podcast episode the first
- 1:35week of January, which would've been last week and hence why I'm
- 1:39here now. So I'm I'm like 95%.
- 1:43I still have a little bit of a sore throat that's lingering.
- 1:46Whatever bug that I got, like I have not been that sick in like
- 1:53years. Usually most years I'll get sick
- 1:56once, maybe twice. I mean during the pandemic with
- 2:00COVID and everything, like almost everyone, so many people
- 2:03got COVID right? So like but thinking to pre
- 2:06pandemic, I think on average I got sick once a year and it if I
- 2:12was lucky that year it would have been like a very mild cold
- 2:14to the point where like I didn't really notice it too much.
- 2:18Once in a while it would be something more like a hard or
- 2:22cold or like a light flu. Not anything that's very, very
- 2:27severe to the point where like I feel like I'm going to die this
- 2:30year though we picked it up in Bangkok for sure and I had a
- 2:36couple of flights connecting to come back from Bangkok back to
- 2:40LAX. Oh, quick sidebar.
- 2:44There was a Japanese Airlines flight that lit on fire on
- 2:50landing at Haneda airport in Tokyo.
- 2:53While that was happening, I was at that airport so I was on a
- 2:58layover. I was like a 7 hour layover
- 3:02before I caught my flight to LAX and I was in the lounge in the
- 3:07airport and like I couldn't tell that anything was going on or
- 3:11wrong. I guess it's a big airport and
- 3:14there's a whole ton of windows, Large, huge windows on the side
- 3:18of the lounge that I was in, and I guess the fire probably wasn't
- 3:21on that side. We weren't facing the right
- 3:23runway, but I didn't know about it until I didn't notice
- 3:27something was up at the airport until I got an e-mail that said,
- 3:31oh, there's a ground stop at the airport, which means there are
- 3:35no no flights are ticking off and no flights are landing.
- 3:38Like operations flights have stopped.
- 3:41That's what a ground stop is. And then I started and then the
- 3:44e-mail said it's a ground stop because there's a fire on the
- 3:47runway. And I'm a little bit of like, an
- 3:49AV geek. So it's like, Oh my God, what's
- 3:51going on? Googled it.
- 3:53And then that's when I actually found out about the Japan
- 3:56Airlines flight that unfortunately caught on fire.
- 4:00I was like, I was like, oh, I'm at that airport.
- 4:02It's like, I'm at the airport where this, like, this huge
- 4:06plane is caught on fire. So that was like a little bit
- 4:09crazy. And my flight was supposed to be
- 4:12like one of the last flights out of that day and they were able
- 4:15to like get some of the flights just delayed but like
- 4:20rescheduled to be like a little bit later on.
- 4:22So fortunately for me, the flight my flight was just
- 4:25delayed by like 30 minutes. It was like MB DI was already
- 4:28having a 7 hour layover. Yeah, but that was some crazy
- 4:31shit to be like at that airport until like read and see and hear
- 4:37about the that that flight. But there were no announcements.
- 4:40Like no one was freaking out. It was just like a regular day
- 4:44at the at an airport lounge. It was like just boring.
- 4:46I was just eating a lot of free food basically.
- 4:49That's that was a quick sidebar. But yeah, at the lounge I was
- 4:55felt I was feeling fine. I was eating all the ramen, all
- 4:58the Yudong, all of the Curry rice, which is like these are
- 5:02like some of my favorite things to eat.
- 5:04Japanese foods is one of my favorite cuisines.
- 5:07And got aboard the flight. The flight was not full and
- 5:14there was AI was on the aisle seat and there was an empty seat
- 5:17and there was like another person we were like in the
- 5:18middle of the plane. So it's like great.
- 5:21I've got an aisle seat. I'm on a bulkhead so like no one
- 5:23to recline into me. I got a lot of lake room.
- 5:26There's empty seat between me and the other passenger.
- 5:28You know, it's going to be like a 10 or 11 hour flight across
- 5:32the Pacific. This should be great, right?
- 5:35But that during that fight was when I started to feel ill Like
- 5:41I started to get like a headache.
- 5:42Just like generally didn't feel super awesome.
- 5:47Made it home anyways. But then the next day I got home
- 5:51in the evening, still managed to, like, pick up my quick
- 5:54groceries on the way home from the airport.
- 5:56Wasn't feeling too too bad. But the next day, Oh my God, I
- 6:01was. I was just a BLOB on the couch.
- 6:06I not felt that sick in like several years and many years.
- 6:10And I just didn't feel like doing anything.
- 6:13I I didn't want to eat. I lost my appetite.
- 6:16I had like a headache. With any amount of movement, I
- 6:19had like a headache. I didn't want to, like, get up
- 6:21off of the couch. So it was just like a really,
- 6:23really crappy day. But then the next day, I bounced
- 6:27back, like surprisingly quickly given how crappy I felt that
- 6:30full day back in LA. And then the next day, I felt,
- 6:35like, significantly better. Still sick, but like it was.
- 6:39I wasn't, didn't feel like I wouldn't just crawl into the
- 6:41crevices of my couch and die. So it was like one really bad
- 6:46day. And then, like, it was like the
- 6:47rest of the days were like, kind of OK, so that was like a week
- 6:50ago. So I'm quite a bit better now.
- 6:53But yeah, that was, that was gnarly, whatever that was.
- 6:55And I was reading in, just reading some random news that
- 6:58said this flu season has been, has hit really hard and it's hit
- 7:04early. So and I'm talking to some other
- 7:06people, quite a few of my friends are sick as well,
- 7:10regardless of whether they went to Bangkok or traveled or
- 7:12whatever. And some of them are like the
- 7:15sick. They were the same kind of sick
- 7:16as me, where like they were just like really sick and it, like
- 7:19wasn't COVID. But it's quite a few of them
- 7:20took the COVID home test and it wasn't that.
- 7:23So that aside, that's a lot of fun getting sick, by the way, if
- 7:30if you're sick, like just milk the sick days.
- 7:32Every time I get sick, I always remind myself, milk it.
- 7:36But sometimes I'm still worried about like, Oh well, like, am I
- 7:38getting enough protein? Should I have another protein
- 7:41shake? What about my diet?
- 7:42What about my weight? It's like for like the one or
- 7:44two, maybe three days where, like, you feel really crappy,
- 7:47like just let it go, just like, do whatever it takes to make
- 7:52yourself feel better. So that's how I've reminded
- 7:54myself, like that one day where I feel really crappy.
- 7:56That night I didn't brush my teeth because I was like, so I
- 8:01was so fatigued and I felt so crappy.
- 8:04That was like, I was deciding like, I need to move from my
- 8:08couch to my bed to, like, go to sleep.
- 8:11And even that was, like, difficult.
- 8:13To just, like, go from the couch to the bed, dirty dishes all
- 8:16over my coffee table from, like, throughout the day of just
- 8:20accumulating bowls and soups and teas and whatever didn't clean.
- 8:24Any of that made the decision not to brush my teeth and just
- 8:28like somehow got from the couch to the bed that night.
- 8:32So anyways, let's move it on to White Party Bangkok because
- 8:39that's where we were over. New Year's was there for about a
- 8:44week, six or seven days, and every time we go to White Party
- 8:49Bangkok, it's been a good time. This was a good time as well.
- 8:53One of the reasons it's so fun for me is I get to hang out with
- 8:57a lot of my Aussie friends that we don't usually hang out that
- 9:03often otherwise because it's quite far for them to fly from
- 9:06Australia to the US and it's far for me to fly there.
- 9:10And I I rarely go to go to Australia, they rarely come to
- 9:13the US. So Bangkok is kind of sort of,
- 9:18well, it's still kind of far from me, but that happens to be
- 9:22kind of like the one event every year where we all want to go and
- 9:27the event is good and we can kind of like meet up and hang
- 9:29out at least at one time of year, right.
- 9:32David Lamb is an exception because he's an anomaly.
- 9:35So every time, every year it's been good.
- 9:38We've been to every White Party Bangkok.
- 9:40Having said that this year I feel like it was my worst White
- 9:47Party Bangkok ever. Even though overall that's a
- 9:51relative term relative to like the previous years.
- 9:53Right. Several reasons why.
- 9:57So obviously we got we picked up this like whatever super flu
- 10:01that we like it's somewhere it we picked up in Bangkok for sure
- 10:04because yeah so picking up getting super sick from a trip
- 10:08is never fun and there there was I'm going to tell a story and
- 10:16they moved it to a different venue this year.
- 10:19So it used to be in some there used to be like a like a a
- 10:23concert event space in Central World which is this like
- 10:27gigantic super shopping mall. And but behind Central World,
- 10:32kind of sort of like in that same block, they have a
- 10:36Convention Center that's attached to like a hotel, like
- 10:40the Centara something hotel. And then there's like the
- 10:43there's like a Convention Center, like a separate space
- 10:47that's right behind Central World.
- 10:49So they moved it there and apparently moved it there
- 10:51because it was going to be like a larger space, a bigger venue.
- 10:54There's a lot of demands. We can sell more tickets and
- 10:55have more people. Fine.
- 10:57We've been to that venue once before for Songcran.
- 11:00Songcran is the Thai New year and that's in April, but G
- 11:07Circuit is during Songcran is another gay circuit party that
- 11:12happens every year that happens during Songcran, the Thai New
- 11:15Year in April and I've been to Songcran once, maybe twice a pre
- 11:20pandemic and they traditionally have held it at this Convention
- 11:25Center. The White Party Bangkok held
- 11:28their event this year. So the only the thing I don't
- 11:33like about this venue is that there are two regular size
- 11:41escalators that everybody has to funnel through like everybody.
- 11:48So and it basically became a very big bottleneck.
- 11:52Now the old venue in Central World, it was also two
- 11:57escalators for everyone to kind of funnel through.
- 12:00But there's not as many people, and for whatever reason with the
- 12:05old, just the other thing is you have to take a lift up into to
- 12:12get to where the escalated escalator is only to like one
- 12:15floor. You have to take a take some
- 12:17elevators to get to like the 26th floor or something.
- 12:20And that's a bottleneck too. For whatever reason, it wasn't
- 12:23really a huge bottleneck to get in and out of the previous
- 12:28Central world, the old venue. Because yeah, there's two
- 12:31escalators that goes directly into the venue to get in and
- 12:35out. And then after that you're on
- 12:37like some high up floor in this massive building and you have to
- 12:41like work your way down in the old Central World venue.
- 12:46That was not a problem. You're still able to like exit
- 12:49out without waiting, go down those escalators without taking
- 12:51a lot of time. And then they basically just
- 12:53guided you down like another four or five flights of
- 12:56escalators to get to like the ground floor you're on like the
- 12:58six or seven floor or something. And getting out has never been a
- 13:01problem. Even at like the end of the
- 13:03night when they shut off the music and they turn up the light
- 13:06and like everyone is exiting at the same time.
- 13:09I've never had a problem. Like you never really had to
- 13:10wait this venue though on Saturday night, I got there like
- 13:1710:30 or 11:00 and they do want you to go with it earlier, yeah,
- 13:20blah blah blah. But anyways, got there like
- 13:2110/30/11. You have to take the, you have
- 13:24to take the elevators up to the 26th floor and then you go, you
- 13:28spill into this like the elevator lobby and then you have
- 13:32to go down the escalators and then you're inside the venue.
- 13:35The elevator doors open on the 26th floor and it was just a sea
- 13:39of people like there wasn't there wasn't quite enough room
- 13:43for everyone in the elevator to even get off nicely.
- 13:46Like we have to like shove and kind of like push ourselves into
- 13:49the crowd so that everyone behind us in the elevator could
- 13:52actually get off. So I was in that for like, I
- 13:56don't know, 30 or 40 minutes. Imagine just being in like a
- 13:59huge crowd of people for like 30 or 40 minutes to funnel through
- 14:01like these one or two escalators.
- 14:05Like that was not fun. And like that did not put me in
- 14:08like a good mood. So that happened, which wasn't
- 14:13nice. It was like very warm.
- 14:14It was kind of humid, blah, blah, blah.
- 14:16But anyways, later on that night, it was very busy.
- 14:23Saturday nights, it's the main events, the white parties, very
- 14:25busy. They have 3 restrooms and the
- 14:28old venue had VIP restrooms. There's one restroom that was
- 14:33VIP. I couldn't figure out if there.
- 14:36I couldn't figure out if there were VIP restrooms.
- 14:38There were. There were three separate
- 14:39restrooms. None of them were marked as VIP.
- 14:41So I never looked into it. When you're in the middle of a
- 14:47party, you're not, you know, like you're just gonna go to a
- 14:50restroom, right? Unless it was there wasn't a
- 14:52clearly marked VIP restroom. Maybe I missed it.
- 14:53But as far as we can tell, there were three restrooms.
- 14:55Then there were VIP, But I went, I went full Karen on, that's
- 15:00excellent. But so somewhere to get like,
- 15:02not in a super great mood because like the 45 minutes it
- 15:06took for us like to get in and it was like so crowded and
- 15:09everything, it was hot and humid.
- 15:10So a little later on, later that night, I decided I go to the
- 15:17restroom as I needed to pay. And you, a lot of times there's
- 15:20a line up for the restroom and usually the line up is just for
- 15:24the stalls. If you need the urinal, usually
- 15:26you don't need to line up, but from the outside you can't quite
- 15:29tell right when you're leading up to the thing.
- 15:31I try to go into one of the restrooms, bypassing the line
- 15:34and a security person like just said, like, no, there's like,
- 15:36no, you can't. So I just knew, OK, everything,
- 15:39everything's awake. I went to one of the restrooms.
- 15:43I got in line because it just seems like it was very busy and
- 15:46like everything was awake. I got to the front of this line,
- 15:49still totally not knowing if this is if the urinals are free
- 15:52or not, but I got just close enough to like the front, just
- 15:55inside the restroom to see that OK, everything is full.
- 15:58There's a line for everything. These three guys like bypassed
- 16:06the line and and I can see why because like, you know, like
- 16:08usually there's not a way for your nose.
- 16:10Like they like they kind of said, like went up to like they
- 16:14they bypassed the line. And I was almost at the front.
- 16:16I was like two or three people back.
- 16:18So they got right, right, right up to the front of the line and
- 16:21they saw that there was a wait. And then they just waited like
- 16:23at the front of the line. Like, you know when there's been
- 16:26like a queue of like 50 people or whatever and like they try to
- 16:31like cut in front of like me or like the person in front without
- 16:36having to wait in line because I saw them cut in.
- 16:40And like they can clearly see that there's a way for
- 16:42everything. Now, like the line up that I've
- 16:44been in, they're also waiting for the urinals.
- 16:47So they try to cut in front of me like the person in front.
- 16:50And I was just like, I'm not having this.
- 16:51Like I didn't. I'm not having it.
- 16:53I have my crayon. And I said something like, you
- 16:56guys know, like there's a line for everything.
- 16:58Like there's a line for everything.
- 16:59Like if you are gonna walk all the way up to the front to see
- 17:02that there's a line for everything, you should probably
- 17:04get back in line. Like you should go to the end of
- 17:06the line. Like you're not gonna cut in
- 17:07here. So these three guys, and when I
- 17:11when I'm talking, I'm loud, I'm a loud person.
- 17:13You guys, this is a microphone, but you guys can probably tell
- 17:16them that. So and like, no one's talking.
- 17:19It's a bathroom, right? No one's talking.
- 17:21So I told them, I said something like, guys, there's a line.
- 17:24There's a line for everything, something like that.
- 17:26And they all look, like, embarrassed because I have like
- 17:29a carrot tone. I'm sure I have like a
- 17:30particular tone in my face, probably says everything.
- 17:34And then they didn't move. They just like stood there.
- 17:37So it's like, what I am I thinking, well, are you going to
- 17:40go back into line or like, are you just going to hang out here
- 17:43and keep cutting in front? So they didn't cut in front of
- 17:46me, but I I would, I would not be whatever.
- 17:48And then like just just like 5 or 8 seconds go by and like I'm
- 17:55about to like I'm at the front of the line.
- 17:56I'm I'm about to like wait for the next year or now.
- 17:58And then one of those three guys says like in like a like almost
- 18:02like under his breath but definitely audible.
- 18:04He said, he says like we know. I'm like, in my head I'm
- 18:12thinking do you just fucking talk back to me your response,
- 18:15it's not sorry. It's we know.
- 18:19And then my response was, if you know, why didn't you get a line?
- 18:24It's that easy. If you know there's a line up
- 18:27for something and you want that something get to the back of the
- 18:32line like everyone else is doing, Like what is is that so
- 18:36hard to comprehend? So I was like, so I was like I
- 18:42was blown that that was his response.
- 18:45The the response should have been, oh sorry, we'll go get in
- 18:48line. That's the logical response.
- 18:51But no they had they they had to talk back and like and like 1/2
- 18:55ass pussy ass way. So they picked on the wrong
- 18:59person. Honestly so so so that was my
- 19:04that was like my Cara moment at the bathroom.
- 19:06So I was like OK, I I've waited like 45 minutes in this big huge
- 19:11hot humid crowd to get in here through these.
- 19:13Like, yeah, to get in and I found my friends and stuff, but
- 19:17I was like, all that waiting made me really had to pee.
- 19:19And like everything's busy. Everyone had to wait.
- 19:21I waited. So like, I went caring on them
- 19:25anyways. But let's talk about just like
- 19:29my overview of the parties. So we didn't go on Thursday, so
- 19:34it was Thursday. Friday, Saturday and Sunday were
- 19:38the parties. Thursday night they have what's
- 19:40called AGM or All game meeting which kind of like the welcome
- 19:43party which we don't usually go to and I didn't go and but on
- 19:48Friday they had the jock ball which is the only afternoon tea
- 19:53dance poolside party that they usually have.
- 19:56The same venue as they had it before which is like the Avanti
- 19:59something hotel, same venue as last year.
- 20:03It was fun. They also had a upstairs second
- 20:05stage at the pool party, The jock ball that was more like
- 20:10Chill House. Music.
- 20:12If you didn't want like the circuit music, which I thought
- 20:14was great. We actually spent like a bunch
- 20:16of time up there. It's a really nice venue, like
- 20:19it's on the rooftop of this like hotel.
- 20:22You get really, really nice views.
- 20:23There is a pool there that you can go into.
- 20:26There's a really nice main dance floor with the circuit music.
- 20:30There's like an extra bar and like an extra area in the back
- 20:34to like loiter and just chit chat or whatever.
- 20:35They have the upstairs area, which is really, really fun.
- 20:39So that party was generally pretty good and I love a daytime
- 20:43party. We can actually see people.
- 20:44So that was really, really good. And then Friday night was the
- 20:48Military ball, which is one of their regular theme parties they
- 20:51have every year. So it was, I don't remember all
- 20:58the DJs for every single night, but I remember that I didn't
- 21:03like the music that much. It was like the music wise.
- 21:08It just wasn't. It wasn't, It wasn't bad, like
- 21:11just 'cause I don't like something doesn't mean it's bad.
- 21:15It was not my type of music that I like.
- 21:16It was to me like just very average night.
- 21:21We know that for something that's military themed, the
- 21:25music usually is a little bit on, like the darker side.
- 21:29They're not going to play something that's like super
- 21:32happy Smiley bubble gum for military night, obviously,
- 21:35right? But that's the kind of music
- 21:36that me and some of the other boys like.
- 21:40So not that the music is bad, but it wasn't quite my cup of
- 21:43tea, so that was that. But you know, like the
- 21:47production is like awesome. You go into the White Party
- 21:49Bangkok official Instagram account, you can see like photos
- 21:54of like the venue, the setup, the stage and everything.
- 21:56Like they really just kind of outdo themselves every year with
- 22:00like the production. I would never see something like
- 22:02that in the US Like what circuit party am I going to go to in the
- 22:07US that happens every single year, regularly.
- 22:11I'm going to get that type of a stage, those types of lights
- 22:15like all sorts of like moving type things that are coming down
- 22:19from the ceiling that shift then rotate and motor up and down or
- 22:23rotate and all that kind of stuff like you don't basically
- 22:27or I I've not seen it yet. So like the production value of
- 22:31like the set, the stage, like the lights, you know, like the
- 22:36all the stuff they have from like the ceilings, it's all
- 22:38really, really, really good. And it's like it gets better
- 22:41every year. So like check out their
- 22:43Instagram page and that's probably on Facebook as well
- 22:47where like, I've got tons of photos.
- 22:48Like it just look, it looks as crazy in person if not more when
- 22:53you're witnessing these things because those they've got those
- 22:56six rings, five or six rings that are on the ceiling.
- 22:59When they move up and down, they rotate, they tilt, they all have
- 23:03whole bunch of light lights all around primitive and also on the
- 23:06inside and outside of the circle.
- 23:08So they move every which way and every night at least once,
- 23:11probably multiple times. They do like the song and dance
- 23:14of all of them. So there's like a little
- 23:16intermission where like this, you know, between DJs or when
- 23:19there's going to be a special performer about to come on,
- 23:21they'll like do this show with like the lights and rings and
- 23:23stuff. It's really, really cool.
- 23:26Production Valley was good moving on to Saturday, so that's
- 23:30the White Party main event and also Sunday.
- 23:34So the music I did like on Saturday night and Sunday night
- 23:38as well. Saturday night was New Year's
- 23:39Eve so but there was some like some of my favorite DJs we're
- 23:43playing. So there was Anne Louise who I
- 23:47love. I love it when she spends Soggy.
- 23:51Awesome, love his stuff. So there's some good music, some
- 23:56good DJs, Tommy Love also spinning.
- 23:58So it's a really good DJ lining up generally.
- 24:01So yeah, well I had a really good time.
- 24:04The only snag was, yeah, like the getting out every night.
- 24:09So I think it was, I think both Saturday and Sunday nights.
- 24:14I think one of the nights we managed to, I think it was
- 24:16Saturday night, we got out like just like 10 or 15 minutes early
- 24:20and it wasn't a disaster. But then on Sunday we thought
- 24:25they were going to end it a little bit later, but it also
- 24:27ended at 3:00 AM. So we were just like we we were
- 24:30there when they closed it down. So it was just like a lot of
- 24:34waiting to go out. It'd be like it's like another
- 24:3730 to 45 minutes to get out if you're if you're in the dance
- 24:40floor. When they turn out to listen to
- 24:41music stops, it's like 30 to 40 -, 4, five minutes to get out,
- 24:45which is like really, really horrible.
- 24:48So that's that's like the only really unpleasant thing.
- 24:53Well, the two things was maybe they had AVIP bathroom and I
- 24:58just couldn't find it. But when you're in a party
- 25:01situation, you don't always have time or want to like roam.
- 25:07And like every single inch of the facility except especially
- 25:10if it's large, you just have really big, really clear signs
- 25:15for where everything is. And I could only find 3
- 25:18bathrooms and none of them were marked as VIP or or I just
- 25:21missed it. It's possible too.
- 25:22But I would say I wish the bathroom situation was like a
- 25:26little bit improved because I never had those issues with the
- 25:28bathrooms at the previous venue, guys that they have this venue,
- 25:31but it could accommodate more people.
- 25:33So there were more people there. So but even the bathroom thing
- 25:37is kind of minor compared to like just getting in and out was
- 25:40like just so difficult. So I don't know where the
- 25:43hosting it next year. I assume I'll be there next
- 25:46year, but if they host it at this venue again, definitely.
- 25:51It's imperative to get there early, at least on like the the
- 25:57more popular night. So like the New Year's Eve night
- 26:00and the White Party night, Definitely.
- 26:01Those two nights you need to get there probably by like before,
- 26:07definitely before 10, maybe before 9.
- 26:10I don't know, on on the New Year's Eve night, after having
- 26:13such a long wait to get in on Saturday night for White Party
- 26:16on Sunday night, I went with the group.
- 26:18I didn't kind of do my own thing and come in a little bit later
- 26:21by myself. I went with them and we went
- 26:23super early. I think we got there like 8:00
- 26:27or 8:30 and it was it was easy to get in.
- 26:30It was breezy to get in. So I think getting there before
- 26:329 is probably important. If you can get it even earlier
- 26:35then it'll be even better too. I'm definitely not waiting till
- 26:38the end to leave. They don't announce the end
- 26:42times for any of the nights, but I think Saturday and Sunday and
- 26:47Friday all ended at 3:00 AM pretty much on the dot.
- 26:50We thought the last night was going to go till four but like
- 26:52it didn't pan out. But like, not getting, like, you
- 26:55need to be exiting before, like by the time the lights go up and
- 27:01they stop the music, you need to be off of the dance floor.
- 27:05You need to be like off of that dance floor already.
- 27:07And you need to be like, on the way to coat check or like, you
- 27:12need to be like up those escalators if you don't want
- 27:16like an agonizing wait. So those are the lessons we
- 27:20learned. Those are the, yeah, that's the
- 27:21main thing, getting in and getting out the logistics that
- 27:24that was just not a good venue for getting people in and out.
- 27:27It was just kind of horrible in that sense, All right?
- 27:30And I'm trying to do a really good job of giving you guys a
- 27:33review of the actual White Party Bangkok, because I still
- 27:35remember the feedback you guys gave me for when I went to
- 27:39Taipei Pride and I didn't talk about the actual parties or
- 27:44whatever. So here you go.
- 27:46Here's my review of the venue and the parties and all that
- 27:49kind of stuff. So I hope next year, I mean,
- 27:55they can, yeah, I don't know where it's going to be next
- 27:57year. But yeah, like it's just one of
- 28:00those things where getting in and getting out, it's just so
- 28:02difficult that you really have to like get there early and you
- 28:05can't wait till they turn the lights up to leave.
- 28:08That's all. But the production was great.
- 28:11The the music was really good. DJ Lango, but that really,
- 28:15really liked anyways like some of some of our favorite DJs in
- 28:17there. The music that was there was all
- 28:19really good. There were some good
- 28:21performances. I'm not always.
- 28:23Sometimes you go to like the bathroom where you take a break
- 28:25from the dance floor at the wrong moment because you when
- 28:28you're in the middle of a circuit party, your priority is
- 28:31not to memorize when the performances come on and off.
- 28:35What the what the what the what The times are for all the
- 28:38performances. You might remember the order in
- 28:40which the DJs come on. But like, even then, it's like
- 28:43if your friends like or decide to like, go to grab a drink, go
- 28:48to the bar, go to the take a break outside or whatever, you
- 28:52know you're sometimes you might follow your friends, you might
- 28:54not hang back, you might need to pee and you might, you know that
- 28:57might take 30 minutes or whatever because it was so busy.
- 29:00So pajama heels performed famous tie drag queen.
- 29:06I was there for that. It was like a 5 or 10 minute
- 29:09performance. I was there for that.
- 29:11I'm sure there were other performances.
- 29:14I'm sure I just missed them, but yeah.
- 29:17Oh my God, the go Go's were all very, very hot there.
- 29:21Once Upon a time, Dave and Lam and I did go go at White Party
- 29:24Bangkok, but that was like during the early years when the
- 29:28standards weren't as high as now.
- 29:31Like our our Dave and Lam and our bodies are not on that level
- 29:34and we don't have any dance moves.
- 29:35Honestly, we we really, really don't.
- 29:39Yeah, but the dancers are always like super hot.
- 29:40There's some people that were like acrobats or acrobatics that
- 29:46did like some stuff with like ropes and all that kind of
- 29:48stuff. I didn't fully catch it, but I
- 29:50saw some of it. Yeah.
- 29:52So yeah, overall it was a really, really good party.
- 29:57And I I just, I just like Bangkok in general.
- 30:00The food is good. It's not very expensive.
- 30:02There are a whole ton of hotels you can stay at.
- 30:06Yeah. And there's this like apartment
- 30:07that we've kind of stayed at repeatedly that's like our
- 30:10little home base now. And we had a whole bunch of
- 30:12other friends that also booked that same like little apartment
- 30:15building. So there was like a whole bunch
- 30:18of us that were staying in the same building.
- 30:19So that was a lot of fun. Yeah.
- 30:22So that's my review of White Party Bangkok this year and also
- 30:27getting sick from Bangkok. We didn't know where we picked
- 30:30it up. We didn't go to too many home
- 30:32pods. I went to a couple of home pods,
- 30:33a couple of after party home parties.
- 30:35Afterwards David said he didn't go to any and he still got sick
- 30:38too. So yeah, so there you go.
- 30:42Well, happy New year, Happy 2024.
- 30:45Hope you had a great start to your new year.
- 30:47Better than mine which is getting sick in the next podcast
- 30:54or in like one of the upcoming episodes early this year.
- 30:57I do want to talk about, I do want to reflect on my 2023
- 31:03because my 2023, it's, it's, it was so much different from every
- 31:11other year that I've lived, you know, during my adult life at
- 31:17least. And even, yeah, like the the
- 31:22pandemic happened in 2020 and then that was like the last year
- 31:26where the world was kind of crazy and I made some really big
- 31:30moves. I moved to LA from San
- 31:32Francisco. I bought this condo for example,
- 31:35yeah, but last year 2020 has just been like a really, really
- 31:40weird year. And maybe I will talk about that
- 31:43on the next podcast and also talk a bit about what my pseudo
- 31:50semi plans are for 2020 or we'll do that once my throat is just a
- 31:57little bit less sore so that I can do a little bit more talking
- 32:01without probably destroying it. So the podcast is not.
- 32:05I didn't just like up and end the podcast, I we just
- 32:08accidentally took a two week break.
- 32:11But normal service has been resumed.
- 32:13We will be back with the weekly episodes from now on.
- 32:17So until next week, bye.
