- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on? It's Romeo. We made it to Tuesday,
- 0:03Speaker 1: Taco Tuesday. We talked about some of the regulars getting
- 0:06Speaker 1: into a fight and then the CIF and what's going
- 0:08Speaker 1: on with high school football in Bakersfield. Of course, then
- 0:11Speaker 1: we got to the repo, man. Have you ever got
- 0:13Speaker 1: a car repo? What happened? Oh, where is it?
- 0:16Speaker 2: What did you send me here? Concerned mom here, Rome.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I have a 30-year-old son still living at home. He
- 0:21Speaker 1: doesn't contribute financially, help around the house, or show a drive,
- 0:26Speaker 1: you know, toward building a future. I'm starting to feel
- 0:28Speaker 1: like I've enabled his behavior. Where did I go wrong?
- 0:31Speaker 1: Are times really this hard or is something else going on?
- 0:34Speaker 1: What should I do? That's a good question. What you
- 0:36Speaker 1: should do. That's the tough part of what you should
- 0:38Speaker 1: do because you don't want to turn your back on
- 0:39Speaker 1: your kid. You want to try to help him become
- 0:41Speaker 1: a man or, you know, become a man and handle
- 0:45Speaker 1: his own business. But you probably enabled him a little bit.
- 0:48Speaker 1: But no, it's times aren't that tough. There's money to
- 0:51Speaker 1: be made. The problem is everybody wants to be a
- 0:53Speaker 1: YouTube star and get it easy. Good morning, Rob. What's
- 0:55Speaker 1: going on?
- 0:56Speaker 3: Man, you hit the nail on the head before you
- 0:57Speaker 3: went to the music, man.
- 0:59Speaker 4: What's that?
- 1:00Speaker 3: Everybody's wanting to be a freaking influencer now.
- 1:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:04Speaker 4: I don't care.
- 1:05Speaker 3: I don't care what it is. They got homeless people
- 1:07Speaker 3: trying to be influencers. They got people that don't know
- 1:10Speaker 3: left from right trying.
- 1:11Speaker 5: To be influencers.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Everybody's trying to be a YouTube star. Nobody wants to
- 1:13Speaker 3: work hard.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Or a podcaster. Yeah.
- 1:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Everybody wants the easy way out. It's like I tell
- 1:20Speaker 3: my kids all the time. If it was easy, everybody
- 1:22Speaker 3: would be doing it. Only the hard... Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely, absolutely.
- 1:28Speaker 1: It's just one of those things where these kids don't know.
- 1:30Speaker 1: There's money to be made. There is money to be
- 1:32Speaker 1: made out here. They just got.
- 1:35Speaker 2: To figure it out.
- 1:36Speaker 3: And then the other thing, too, with the parenting is
- 1:39Speaker 3: all these parents are trying to be their kids' friends.
- 1:41Speaker 3: They're not trying to be their parents. Yeah. They're sitting
- 1:43Speaker 3: there trying to be their friends. And I tell that
- 1:45Speaker 3: all the time.
- 1:45Speaker 6: I do.
- 1:46Speaker 4: If your kids.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Grow up not getting upset with you at all their
- 1:49Speaker 3: entire life about something because they couldn't hang out with
- 1:51Speaker 3: their friends or they couldn't do this or they couldn't
- 1:53Speaker 3: do that, you're parenting wrong. You know, every kid at
- 1:57Speaker 3: some point can't stand their parents choice because they want
- 2:00Speaker 3: to go out and go do this or go do that.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:02Speaker 3: You know, and I'm not saying to raise them like super,
- 2:05Speaker 3: super strict.
- 2:05Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:06Speaker 3: But you have to know that not every answer is yes.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right. I heard somebody I heard somebody say
- 2:11Speaker 1: that the other day. I was listening to some I
- 2:13Speaker 1: think it was Louis C.K. said that sometimes. You just
- 2:16Speaker 1: have to tell your parents or tell your kids no
- 2:19Speaker 1: just for the sake of no. Not that you're mad,
- 2:21Speaker 1: not that they're in trouble, just no.
- 2:22Speaker 3: They have to know what no means. Because if not,
- 2:25Speaker 3: they're going to grow up to be entitled to a
- 2:27Speaker 3: little s * * *. And they're going to think
- 2:29Speaker 3: that everything comes to them, that there's no consequences. People
- 2:32Speaker 3: need to learn discipline. People need to learn that not
- 2:35Speaker 3: everything is going to go their way because when they
- 2:36Speaker 3: hit the real world... to happen you know yeah i'm
- 2:41Speaker 3: pretty sure where you're at you've asked for things and
- 2:43Speaker 3: you know your boss has told you no you know
- 2:45Speaker 3: and if you never grew up hearing no then you're
- 2:47Speaker 3: not going to know what that means absolutely sit there
- 2:49Speaker 3: and act out and lash out and you know just
- 2:51Speaker 3: yeah just be one of them you know so.
- 2:54Speaker 4: All right man all right it is what.
- 2:55Speaker 1: It is thanks for calling brother all right she said
- 2:58Speaker 1: uh what did she say here hey rome i have
- 3:01Speaker 1: a 30 year old son still living at home he
- 3:03Speaker 1: doesn't contribute financially help around the house or show any
- 3:05Speaker 1: drive towards building a future I'm starting to feel like
- 3:08Speaker 1: I've enabled this behavior. Where do I go wrong at times?
- 3:12Speaker 2: Really?
- 3:13Speaker 1: Are times really that hard? No, they're not. Is something
- 3:15Speaker 1: else going on? What should I do? Yeah, he's lazy. Probably.
- 3:19Speaker 2: There's money to be made out there.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Okay. Oh, she texted me back. He stays in his
- 3:24Speaker 1: room locked up or we go out at night or
- 3:28Speaker 1: we go out at night with his girlfriend or friends
- 3:32Speaker 1: or he goes out. Well, where does he get the
- 3:33Speaker 1: money to go out? How does he have money to
- 3:37Speaker 1: go out? What's going on?
- 3:40Speaker 4: Hey, what's going on, Romeo?
- 3:41Speaker 1: It's me, Angel. What up, Angel?
- 3:43Speaker 4: You know how many times I heard no from my mother?
- 3:47Speaker 1: Probably all the time.
- 3:48Speaker 4: All day, Romeo.
- 3:50Speaker 8: Anything I done, no.
- 3:52Speaker 3: And the bell was coming.
- 3:54Speaker 4: And the bell was coming. I'm like, I'm already knowing
- 3:57Speaker 4: I'm going.
- 3:57Speaker 8: To get hit.
- 3:58Speaker 1: You're going to say no?
- 3:59Speaker 4: And I'm just going to stand and cry. That guy
- 4:01Speaker 4: is right, bro.
- 4:03Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Well, you don't need to hit him with a bell,
- 4:06Speaker 1: but you need to tell him no.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Oh, my mom gave it to me, but you know what?
- 4:10Speaker 4: It made me stronger.
- 4:11Speaker 1: It made me wiser. Yeah, I get it.
- 4:14Speaker 4: I'll tell you like this. It was 1988, and she
- 4:18Speaker 4: took us to In-N-Out right there in Tampano Valley.
- 4:21Speaker 6: Combo was maybe like $ 2. 40, $ 2.
- 4:24Speaker 9: 40.
- 4:25Speaker 4: And she saved up for that moment, man.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:30Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 4:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:32Speaker 4: That was one of the best moments, man.
- 4:33Speaker 8: The In-N-Out Burger, man.
- 4:34Speaker 7: She paid $ 2.
- 4:34Speaker 4: 45. She was happy. And it came with the milkshake.
- 4:40Speaker 1: You know what I mean? It came with the milkshake.
- 4:44Speaker 2: All right, Angel.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Later, brother. Have a good one, man. Yeah, kids need
- 4:50Speaker 1: to be told no. But here's the thing. And I'm
- 4:54Speaker 1: going to tell you this because it's not my opinion.
- 4:56Speaker 2: It was Louis C.K. I think I heard say this.
- 4:58Speaker 1: He said, Sometimes when you're a kid, you just need
- 5:01Speaker 1: to be told no just to learn what that means.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Not because you're in trouble. Not because anybody's mad at you.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Just no. We can't afford this. No, you can't have that.
- 5:13Speaker 4: That's all.
- 5:14Speaker 1: R.D. 425477.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Back to this 30-year-old Rome.
- 5:17Speaker 1: What matters is, is the father involved in their lives
- 5:21Speaker 1: and was the father talked about in a bad manner?
- 5:25Speaker 1: or alienated from the other parent. Got to be real
- 5:29Speaker 1: with yourself to answer that question. Oh, this is to
- 5:31Speaker 1: the mom. Is the dad involved? What happened? But I
- 5:38Speaker 1: will ask you this to be fair, because I, are
- 5:44Speaker 1: you telling me a single mom cannot teach a boy
- 5:48Speaker 1: work ethic?
- 5:49Speaker 2: Is that what you're trying to say, that dad needed
- 5:51Speaker 2: to do that?
- 5:52Speaker 1: Hey, Rome, this is a concerned mom here. She said,
- 5:55Speaker 1: what did she say here? Hey, Rome, I have a
- 5:57Speaker 1: 30-year-old son still living at home. He doesn't contribute financially,
- 6:01Speaker 1: help around the house, or show any drive towards building
- 6:03Speaker 1: a future. I'm starting to feel like I've enabled this behavior.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Where do I go wrong at times? Are times really
- 6:10Speaker 1: that hard? No, they're not. Is something else going on?
- 6:13Speaker 1: What should I do?
- 6:13Speaker 2: Yeah, he's lazy, probably. I mean, there's money to be made.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Out there, okay? Oh, she texted me back. He stays
- 6:21Speaker 1: in his room locked up or we go out at
- 6:24Speaker 1: night or we go out at night with his girlfriend
- 6:28Speaker 1: or friends or he goes out. Well, where does he
- 6:29Speaker 1: get the money to go out? How does he have
- 6:33Speaker 1: money to go out? Good morning, how's it going on?
- 6:36Speaker 1: Good morning, Romeo. Hey, what's up?
- 6:39Speaker 10: Nothing much. So for somebody to say that there needs
- 6:46Speaker 10: to be a male figure to teach work ethic, that's
- 6:52Speaker 10: crazy in itself.
- 6:55Speaker 1: That's what it sounds like that person is trying to say,
- 6:57Speaker 1: but yeah, okay.
- 6:59Speaker 10: But, you know, like, I don't even know where to
- 7:05Speaker 10: start with this.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I'm Hispanic, I'm Mexican, and I've always.
- 7:10Speaker 10: Lived with my parents. So anything goes wrong, I go
- 7:17Speaker 10: back to my parents, I go back to my parents,
- 7:19Speaker 10: but I contribute to the household.
- 7:22Speaker 6: Okay.
- 7:23Speaker 5: So.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Hey, just out of curiosity, how many times have you
- 7:27Speaker 1: had to go back to your parents?
- 7:29Speaker 10: Three.
- 7:31Speaker 9: Okay.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Maybe you're not the best.
- 7:34Speaker 10: After college, I had to come back to Bakersfield. I
- 7:37Speaker 10: thought I was going to stay in L.A. Nope.
- 7:39Speaker 5: Nope.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Okay.
- 7:42Speaker 7: Some stuff happened.
- 7:43Speaker 10: With where I was working, and yeah, I had to
- 7:46Speaker 10: come back.
- 7:46Speaker 9: Okay.
- 7:47Speaker 6: And then I got, I ended up having a child,
- 7:52Speaker 6: and yeah, that didn't work out.
- 7:55Speaker 8: Okay.
- 7:56Speaker 7: My first child.
- 7:57Speaker 6: Okay.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Your first one.
- 7:58Speaker 8: Okay.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Are you with your parents now?
- 8:01Speaker 8: No.
- 8:02Speaker 6: Okay. Okay.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Okay, so go ahead and finish saying what you were
- 8:07Speaker 1: going to say. No, no worries, no.
- 8:13Speaker 10: You distracted me. I don't even remember what I was
- 8:15Speaker 10: going to say.
- 8:17Speaker 4: All right.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Well, thanks for calling.
- 8:20Speaker 11: All right four two five four seven to seven hey
- 8:26Speaker 11: i agree with you rome 100 rome on these kids
- 8:29Speaker 11: days have less ambition and say everything is hard and
- 8:33Speaker 11: they expect it to be easy and if it isn't
- 8:35Speaker 11: easy they give up.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Well most of them not all my hard-working son who's
- 8:39Speaker 1: 23 years old lives in la and owns two homes
- 8:42Speaker 1: And in the process of buying a third in Bakersfield,
- 8:45Speaker 1: minimum he'll from his mom and me or something. So
- 8:52Speaker 1: he will from his mom and me. He's doing decent.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Most of his friends live at their mom's home. Okay,
- 8:59Speaker 1: so you're calling to brag or what? You're not really
- 9:02Speaker 1: helping out the concerned mom with the 30-year-old who is
- 9:06Speaker 1: not doing anything with his life and still living at home.
- 9:08Speaker 1: So they sent me a message that her son's 30
- 9:10Speaker 1: years old, living at home, not doing nothing, right? She
- 9:12Speaker 1: doesn't know how to handle it or what to do
- 9:14Speaker 1: about it. She says he just, you know, stays in
- 9:19Speaker 1: his room locked up, goes out, you know, at night
- 9:22Speaker 1: with his girlfriend or friends.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I can't believe he has a girlfriend.
- 9:25Speaker 1: What kind of girl would date a 30-year-old dude that
- 9:27Speaker 1: lives at home with no ambition? Rome, I just told
- 9:31Speaker 1: my son to be 22 years old. He needs to
- 9:35Speaker 1: start paying rent. 250. This girl works.
- 9:39Speaker 6: Oh, wait.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I need to. My soon to. Oh, she. Oh, it's
- 9:42Speaker 1: a girl. Sorry. My soon to be 21 year old.
- 9:45Speaker 1: I thought it said son. It's soon to be to
- 9:48Speaker 1: start paying rent. 250. This girl works full time and
- 9:51Speaker 1: only pays insurance and sell and wanted to come at
- 9:55Speaker 1: me with not even my other friend's parents charge her
- 9:59Speaker 1: that much. Well, I'm going to, I'm just going to
- 10:05Speaker 1: say this and I'm going to disagree with you a
- 10:07Speaker 1: little bit. When you said, you just said she works
- 10:09Speaker 1: full time. She's working full time. She's actively being a
- 10:16Speaker 1: productive part of society and, So, yeah, I wouldn't charge
- 10:19Speaker 1: her that much. I wouldn't charge her anything, to be
- 10:21Speaker 1: honest with you, if she was working full-time.
- 10:23Speaker 12: R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Good morning, how's it going on? Hey, what's up, Rome? Hey, Ruben,
- 10:28Speaker 1: what's up, man?
- 10:29Speaker 4: Bro, you're right. 30 years old, that's just being lazy.
- 10:32Speaker 4: You know what I mean? There's no excuse, especially right
- 10:35Speaker 4: now during the holidays, Rome, everybody's hiring.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Okay, I mean, yeah, but what do you do?
- 10:40Speaker 4: You know, hey, well, I don't know, man. My mother-in-law
- 10:44Speaker 4: was like that, Rome, when I saw her, well, her...
- 10:47Speaker 4: My wife's stepdad passed away, and she got a lot
- 10:52Speaker 4: of money.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Homeboy left her a lot of money, and the two
- 10:55Speaker 3: younger ones didn't want to do anything wrong.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Tell her you broke. Tell them you broke. You ain't
- 10:59Speaker 4: got no more not even to pay the bills. They're
- 11:02Speaker 4: going to shut PG & E off. And they got
- 11:04Speaker 4: their butts up to go to work.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Well, I mean, okay.
- 11:09Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 11:10Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't know.
- 11:12Speaker 4: I don't know, but hey, where she went wrong, yeah, exactly.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Where did it go wrong? Because 30 years old? I mean,
- 11:19Speaker 4: where is he getting money from to roll out on?
- 11:22Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, that's a good question, too. Where does
- 11:24Speaker 1: that come from?
- 11:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess he's going to have to do something.
- 11:27Speaker 4: All right.
- 11:27Speaker 7: Yeah, all right.
- 11:27Speaker 4: See, I'm like, here's the thing. You guys are going
- 11:30Speaker 4: to think I'm soft, but it's not that simple, okay?
- 11:50Speaker 1: He's 30 years old, she says, not doing anything with
- 11:53Speaker 1: his life. So what does she do? You know, just
- 11:59Speaker 1: throwing him out on the street and letting him have
- 12:01Speaker 1: nothing is not what you do. You got to figure
- 12:04Speaker 1: something out. I don't know what that something is, but
- 12:08Speaker 1: you got to help him, you know, because, yeah, you
- 12:12Speaker 1: got to help him. You don't just throw him out
- 12:14Speaker 1: and say, figure it out. That's not what you do
- 12:16Speaker 1: as a parent.
- 12:17Speaker 2: All right, someone was worried about her kid, 30 years old, right?
- 12:19Speaker 1: She says... 30-year-old son. Doesn't help out around the house.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Doesn't contribute financially. No drive to build a future. She
- 12:27Speaker 1: just doesn't know what to do. She wants to know
- 12:28Speaker 1: if times are really this hard. They're not. Times are
- 12:31Speaker 1: not this hard. There's money to be made out there. RD-4254-727.
- 12:36Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 12:37Speaker 9: Hey, Romy, it sounds like that is little mama's boy.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Okay. Sounds like it.
- 12:43Speaker 3: You know, he sounds like he's never been in a
- 12:45Speaker 3: situation where he has to... be afraid that the electricity
- 12:49Speaker 3: is going to go out, that they're not going to
- 12:50Speaker 3: have no groceries, that they're not going to have a house.
- 12:53Speaker 6: TSP saw a little bit of that fear in him.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Okay.
- 12:59Speaker 6: There's a lot of, you know, Raider Dave got two jobs,
- 13:02Speaker 6: and he's still out here juggling women.
- 13:04Speaker 4: So there's a lot that this boy can do if
- 13:07Speaker 4: he just puts his mind to it.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I would agree with all of that. The problem
- 13:12Speaker 1: is how do you get there?
- 13:15Speaker 3: I mean, if the whole, you know, she could turn
- 13:17Speaker 3: off the power, make him think that the electricity got
- 13:20Speaker 3: turned off. Maybe that might work.
- 13:22Speaker 4: Or jail. Jail is a great way to turn boys
- 13:25Speaker 4: into men.
- 13:26Speaker 2: You're an idiot.
- 13:27Speaker 4: I'm just telling you.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I'm not telling you you're an idiot. Get out of here.
- 13:30Speaker 1: All right. 8-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Rome, let's see here.
- 13:36Speaker 1: In a way, Rome, a mother can't teach that. A
- 13:40Speaker 1: mom is supposed to be there to love and nurture.
- 13:42Speaker 1: The dad raises a young man. lets him know priorities
- 13:45Speaker 1: and morals, not saying women can't, but most women cannot
- 13:49Speaker 1: raise a boy to become a man, especially if they
- 13:51Speaker 1: didn't come from a place that men weren't valued or degraded.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I think a woman can teach work ethic. I mean,
- 14:06Speaker 1: we're not talking about raising him to be a man.
- 14:10Speaker 1: She's talking about raising him to have some, that he
- 14:12Speaker 1: doesn't have any drive and is not contributing, is not
- 14:15Speaker 1: trying to be part of society. I mean, is not
- 14:18Speaker 1: trying to make his way and build a future. Men
- 14:21Speaker 1: and women do it all the time. So what she's
- 14:24Speaker 1: saying is not something that only a man can teach.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I think that's where you guys are getting a little
- 14:33Speaker 1: crazy when you say that. You sent me here.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yo, Rome, yesterday I went to watch the 49er game. Oh,
- 14:38Speaker 2: I guess this must have been yesterday.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Game at a Niner Empire gathering because a girlfriend invited me.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I left her in those crybaby bandwaggers in the third
- 14:48Speaker 1: quarter because all they were doing was complaining, whining, and
- 14:53Speaker 1: regretting buying the jersey. I left to a nearby bar
- 14:58Speaker 1: to watch the game with an older couple, and we
- 15:02Speaker 1: won never again.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Oh, well, they did win.
- 15:03Speaker 1: The Niners did win, right? Why were they complaining? 49ers undefeated,
- 15:08Speaker 1: making it all the way. Yeah, I think the Bears
- 15:11Speaker 1: will have something to do with that. If you haven't
- 15:12Speaker 1: watched the Bears yet, you might want to check them
- 15:14Speaker 1: out before you start crowning the Niners Super Bowl champs.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Let me see here. What else were we going to
- 15:24Speaker 1: talk about? Hold on, hold on, hold on. Okay, what
- 15:28Speaker 1: else did you send me here?
- 15:31Speaker 2: Rome, and it's too late. The poor man is ruined already.
- 15:34Speaker 1: He's going to live with his mom forever.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, he might live.
- 15:37Speaker 1: With his mom forever. You ain't lying.
- 15:39Speaker 2: All right, good morning, Al.
- 15:40Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 15:41Speaker 4: Starts news. We lost today.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Did the Yankees lose again?
- 15:49Speaker 4: Yeah, they did.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Oh, I thought they were coming back when I was
- 15:54Speaker 1: watching them.
- 15:55Speaker 4: Yeah, no, no, but... Yeah, no excuses.
- 15:59Speaker 5: They got their asses handed to them, you know.
- 16:02Speaker 4: One more game and they're done, huh? They're done, son.
- 16:07Speaker 4: They're done.
- 16:08Speaker 5: Yeah, one more and they're done.
- 16:10Speaker 4: So I don't even want them to win one for pride.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Throw pride out the window. Throw pride out the window.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Just keep moving on.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I'm moving on.
- 16:20Speaker 6: That's funny.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Moving on up. All right, Kelly.
- 16:23Speaker 10: All right, brother.
- 16:25Speaker 1: So last night at Monday Night Football, we were just
- 16:27Speaker 1: swinging it right, and the game was horrible.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Food was great. Beers were cold. Game was awful.
- 16:33Speaker 1: But Raider fans coming up to me, oh, Rome, we
- 16:37Speaker 1: almost won, man. The Raiders almost won. So I went
- 16:40Speaker 1: to look for the standings, right? And in the standings,
- 16:44Speaker 1: I saw wins, losses, and ties. I didn't see a
- 16:50Speaker 1: stat line for we almost won.
- 16:53Speaker 4: So.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I'm guessing we almost won means they lost. That's what
- 16:58Speaker 1: that means, right? Yeah, what's going on?
- 17:02Speaker 4: With Raider Dave? Well, yeah, everybody has something to say
- 17:05Speaker 4: about you because you've been saying some nonsense.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, nobody likes you, Raider Dave. You've made some
- 17:22Speaker 1: bad decisions in the last couple of weeks.
- 17:25Speaker 3: It was amazing to see the unity amongst a bunch
- 17:28Speaker 3: of nobodies for one person.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Everybody's turning on you.
- 17:31Speaker 4: It's okay. You know what? The gloves are coming off,
- 17:33Speaker 4: and you're going to have to give me an opportunity
- 17:35Speaker 4: to respond because Raider Dave got jokes, too.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Raider Dave got a lot of jokes, so let's have
- 17:42Speaker 3: a good day today.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Come on.
- 17:44Speaker 3: All right.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Well, there you go.
- 17:46Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Raider Dave's going to get back at everybody. Hey, Rome,
- 17:49Speaker 1: why is it that it's always the same old six
- 17:52Speaker 1: people calling and no views on your podcast?
- 17:56Speaker 2: Because nobody likes me and nobody listens.
- 17:58Speaker 1: To the show. That's why. And why are you listening
- 18:01Speaker 1: to the show? What did you send me? Hey, good morning, Rome.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Can I get a shout out from wishing.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Me a happy birthday?
- 18:09Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Happy birthday.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Okay.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Happy birthday. I'm glad that you, not knowing who you
- 18:18Speaker 1: are or how old you are, but happy birthday. All righty. Four, two, five, four, seven, seven.
- 18:23Speaker 1: What'd somebody send me? Hootie and the Blowfish? Why'd you
- 18:27Speaker 1: send me? Why'd you send me a Hootie and the Blowfish?
- 18:31Speaker 1: Dolphins make me cry. I don't know why you sent
- 18:33Speaker 1: me that video. Somebody sent me a video of the Dolphins. Oh,
- 18:38Speaker 1: the Dolphins lost again. And then he sent me a video,
- 18:42Speaker 1: a whole video of Hootie and the Blowfish singing a song,
- 18:46Speaker 1: Dolphins Make Me Cry.
- 18:49Speaker 2: The Dolphins suck. Come on, man.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I think the Dolphins made a deal with the devil
- 18:54Speaker 1: to have that undefeated season, you know, in 70, was
- 18:57Speaker 1: it 72?
- 18:58Speaker 2: The undefeated season, and they.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Were the only time, the only team that's ever done
- 19:03Speaker 1: it went undefeated. I think the Dolphins made that deal
- 19:06Speaker 1: with the devil, and the consequence of that is they're
- 19:08Speaker 1: never going to win again. Because, yeah, they're terrible. But
- 19:12Speaker 1: nobody cares about the Dolphins. Someone texted me and said,
- 19:15Speaker 1: Good morning, Rome. Can I get a shout-out for my birthday?
- 19:17Speaker 1: But didn't give me a name. Sorry, Rome. My name
- 19:19Speaker 1: is Regina, and I'm 53. Well, hard to give you
- 19:25Speaker 1: a shout-out, Regina, without knowing what your name is. But
- 19:29Speaker 1: happy birthday.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Hope you have a good day.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Rome, you should give me Snoop Dogg tickets for November 7th.
- 19:38Speaker 1: It will make it better. No, if you're the dumbass
- 19:41Speaker 1: that's going to like the Dolphins, ain't nothing going to
- 19:43Speaker 1: make that better, okay? I can't help you. Why you always,
- 19:45Speaker 1: you guys always, everybody expects me to help them with
- 19:49Speaker 1: their kids. birthdays, their anniversaries, and their misery. I'm supposed
- 19:55Speaker 1: to be the one to help you when you make
- 19:58Speaker 1: bad decisions.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not doing that.
- 20:01Speaker 1: All right, A42547, go buy your tickets. I don't even
- 20:04Speaker 1: know when Snoop Dogg come in. I don't even have
- 20:07Speaker 1: any tickets for Snoop Dogg. I can't even go to
- 20:09Speaker 1: Snoop Dogg. And it's your fault you're a Dolphins fan,
- 20:13Speaker 1: not mine.
- 20:26Speaker 8: You should have gave her a ticket, man.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Listen, I feel sorry for her. Maybe you're supposed to
- 20:30Speaker 4: feel sorry for that girl.
- 20:31Speaker 12: No.
- 20:31Speaker 8: She's a Miami fan.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Was it a girl or a guy? Oh, I just
- 20:34Speaker 1: assumed it was a guy. I didn't think women were
- 20:37Speaker 1: dumb enough to be a fan of Miami. But okay,
- 20:39Speaker 1: maybe it was a girl.
- 20:40Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:42Speaker 4: If she is right here roaming.
- 20:45Speaker 6: Around, she's my roommate roaming around.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Oh, she's the Miami fan?
- 20:50Speaker 4: She's the Miami fan.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Does she got a man? No, you got a man.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I got a man.
- 20:59Speaker 1: What's his team?
- 21:01Speaker 10: Broncos.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Well, root for them. Jesus Christ, don't root for them.
- 21:04Speaker 1: At least you get away with rooting for your man's
- 21:06Speaker 1: team because the Broncos are better than the Dolphins.
- 21:10Speaker 6: I root for him to be in.
- 21:14Speaker 4: The main way.
- 21:15Speaker 8: Hey, I try to be supportive when the Miami fans.
- 21:18Speaker 4: I do try to be supportive.
- 21:19Speaker 1: There's no reason to be supportive of that. Everybody knows
- 21:22Speaker 1: they're a train wreck, okay? That's like support. Don't support stupidity.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Support common sense and accountability. Do not support stupidity.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Later, man.
- 21:38Speaker 1: All right. 8-4-2-5-4.
- 21:41Speaker 12: 7-7.
- 21:41Speaker 6: Yo, Rome.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Falcon Joe here. You see the dirty birds rise up?
- 21:46Speaker 1: Yeah. The Saints suck. Yeah, it was an embarrassing game
- 21:50Speaker 1: last night. It just, yeah. I don't know if the Saints,
- 21:54Speaker 1: you got to remember the Saints suck. The Falcons are,
- 21:58Speaker 1: that running back was pretty impressive, by the way. But yeah,
- 22:02Speaker 1: you didn't beat nobody. That's like the Raider fans being
- 22:05Speaker 1: all excited. They were three, you know, they beat the
- 22:06Speaker 1: three worst teams in the NFL. So you didn't beat nobody.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Calm down there, big joke. All righty, 4-2-5-4, 7-7. Come on, Romeo,
- 22:16Speaker 1: this is Bronco Branson. What's going on?
- 22:20Speaker 4: Come on, Romeo, don't be upset. You know you've got
- 22:22Speaker 4: to give that dolphin girl a ticket.
- 22:25Speaker 6: I heard she used to be a Raider fan.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Oh, I cannot support stupidity. You guys all.
- 22:31Speaker 5: Yeah, have a good one.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Later. Oh, good morning now.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Romeo, I'm trying to correct you. Who did the Chiefs beat?
- 22:42Speaker 2: Who did the Chiefs beat?
- 22:43Speaker 9: The Dolphins, the Colts, and then you beat the Raiders
- 22:46Speaker 9: since the Raiders ain't nothing?
- 22:48Speaker 1: Yeah, they beat who they're supposed to be.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Your 4-0 don't matter then.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Well, they beat who they're supposed to be. That's what
- 22:54Speaker 1: the winners do.
- 22:55Speaker 4: Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
- 22:56Speaker 3: Because you said we beat the three worst teams. That's
- 22:59Speaker 3: why we're 3-0. You beat the three worst teams in
- 23:01Speaker 3: the NFL yourself.
- 23:02Speaker 12: So you should just be one.
- 23:04Speaker 1: The Broncos are one of the worst teams in the NFL?
- 23:08Speaker 9: No, 1-0.
- 23:08Speaker 5: You're 1-0.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go. All right, R-A-4-2-5-4, 7-7. Yo, Rome,
- 23:13Speaker 1: Raider Dave, got Snoop Dogg tickets. Tell him whoever on
- 23:17Speaker 1: my side, I'll hook them up. Plus, my royalty checks
- 23:20Speaker 1: just hit yesterday. Where is Cowgirl Ruben at? Tell them,
- 23:25Speaker 1: let's play Big Bang, take all, Big Bang, take little bank.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Big, I don't know what that means.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Apparently, Raider Dave's rich. Apparently, Raider Dave's some musician that,
- 23:36Speaker 1: or some rapper or something that you guys have all
- 23:40Speaker 1: heard of.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I've actually, I just know him from the show, so
- 23:42Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Let's see. Sip Uncle Martini in How Did the Ravens
- 23:51Speaker 1: Lose to the, Oh, that, yeah, somebody said that. Somebody
- 23:57Speaker 1: was telling me that last night, actually, at Monday Night Football,
- 23:59Speaker 1: that the one game the Saints did win is the Ravens, right?
- 24:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:03Speaker 1: And I love how the guy that just called talking
- 24:06Speaker 1: about who the Chiefs beat. Well, in 10 years, since
- 24:09Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes took over the, what, nine years? They've been
- 24:12Speaker 1: to five Super Bowls, won three, and have won the
- 24:16Speaker 1: AFC every year except for last year. But, yeah, you
- 24:20Speaker 1: idiots want to try to compare the Raiders to the Chiefs.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Who would the Chiefs beat?
- 24:24Speaker 1: Who would the Raiders beat? The Raiders have beat nobodies.
- 24:28Speaker 1: The Chiefs, I guess, at least beat one somebody. And
- 24:32Speaker 1: the Raiders, you guys are supposed to be somebody, so
- 24:35Speaker 1: I guess two, huh? But the Chiefs beat who they're
- 24:37Speaker 1: supposed to beat. Apparently the Raiders can't get it done.
- 24:40Speaker 6: Hey, good morning, Romeo.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Hey, what's up?
- 24:42Speaker 10: Hey, I hear what you guys are talking about.
- 24:44Speaker 6: I have no idea about football.
- 24:46Speaker 10: I just cheer on for whoever's winning that moment. Because
- 24:51Speaker 10: I'm not trying to get in the mix of football.
- 24:53Speaker 10: I have too much going on. But I was calling
- 24:56Speaker 10: to see if you're giving out tickets for.
- 24:57Speaker 6: The Disney on Ice this weekend.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Nope. Game all the way.
- 25:01Speaker 4: Oh, what?
- 25:02Speaker 7: Okay.
- 25:02Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Game all the way.
- 25:03Speaker 3: All right.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Yeah, when is it?
- 25:05Speaker 2: The 9th through the 11th?
- 25:05Speaker 1: There's no Ice is going on. No, we gave all
- 25:08Speaker 1: those tickets away last week, the week before. I don't know.
- 25:12Speaker 5: Ah.
- 25:12Speaker 1: But let me check real quick just to make sure
- 25:15Speaker 1: that I don't have any more Disney on Ice tickets left.
- 25:20Speaker 1: I do not. I do not. I do not. I
- 25:22Speaker 1: do not have any more. You got to listen for
- 25:25Speaker 1: Dojo Cat. I got Dojo Cat tickets. We gave all
- 25:29Speaker 1: the Disney on Ice tickets away.
- 25:30Speaker 2: I don't have any Snoop Dogg tickets.
- 25:32Speaker 1: That's in November. So you got to call Raider Dave
- 25:34Speaker 1: for Snoop Dogg tickets.
- 25:36Speaker 4: What's up, Romeo? Raider Rob checking in.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Hey, what up, Rob?
- 25:39Speaker 8: What's up, man? Hey, just a heads up.
- 25:43Speaker 9: Today's got a movie coming out, and I.
- 25:45Speaker 8: Want to go see it. You got any movie tickets?
- 25:47Speaker 1: What movie?
- 25:49Speaker 4: It's that one with.
- 25:50Speaker 3: The, was it Brad Pitt and the dog or something
- 25:53Speaker 3: like that?
- 25:54Speaker 1: That one already came out.
- 25:56Speaker 7: Oh, did it?
- 25:56Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 25:57Speaker 4: I'm behind. Well, you got any movie tickets, brother?
- 25:59Speaker 1: No, I gave all my movie tickets away on Monday
- 26:01Speaker 1: Night Football last night. I got nothing, man.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I'm telling everybody no. What? Go ahead. I'm going to
- 26:09Speaker 1: let everybody know right now. I got nothing to give you.
- 26:12Speaker 1: So if you just want something, listen to another station.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Call somebody else. Call your mom. She'll give it to you.
- 26:18Speaker 2: What were you.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Going to say, Rob?
- 26:20Speaker 8: Hey, when are we going to go to the fair
- 26:21Speaker 8: and get some of those falufel fries?
- 26:24Speaker 1: Reuben and his bed of fries. The fair's over with.
- 26:28Speaker 1: All right, Rob.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Get out of here.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Later.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Oh, what's going on?
- 26:32Speaker 4: I mean, Romeo, I'm not rich, but I'm not poor either.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Okay.
- 26:37Speaker 8: I'm living comfortably.
- 26:39Speaker 4: I think I make more than a gardener or a
- 26:40Speaker 4: milk deliverer.
- 26:42Speaker 8: Okay.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Any day. Sure.
- 26:44Speaker 4: And, Romeo, you can tell that Raider Dave is one of.
- 26:47Speaker 8: Your true friends because I don't call you begging you
- 26:50Speaker 8: for free stuff.
- 26:50Speaker 9: I try to give you stuff.
- 26:51Speaker 3: I try to enlighten you, give you knowledge.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Think about that. I never said that. I never said
- 26:56Speaker 1: you begged for anything. Never.
- 26:58Speaker 4: I'm trying to give away these Snoop Dogg tickets.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Where are they at? They should win them on your show.
- 27:03Speaker 1: How do they get a hold of you, Raider Dave?
- 27:05Speaker 4: It's coming soon. The Raider Dave podcast.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Okay.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Well, there you go.
- 27:08Speaker 1: All right.
- 27:09Speaker 12: Better.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Well, there you go. You just got to wait for
- 27:11Speaker 1: the Raider Dave podcast, and you guys can all win
- 27:14Speaker 1: tickets to Snoop Dogg.
- 27:16Speaker 4: Fader, Fader, Fader Dave.
- 27:19Speaker 8: Let me just tell you something.
- 27:22Speaker 5: That was a union job when I was a milkman,
- 27:25Speaker 5: which that pays a lot. And also, it wasn't, I
- 27:31Speaker 5: drove a big 54-foot.
- 27:35Speaker 8: Milk truck, okay?
- 27:37Speaker 13: So, and another thing, the last 10 years, I was
- 27:41Speaker 13: a tanker driver.
- 27:44Speaker 4: So, they don't just get those jobs away, you know?
- 27:47Speaker 13: The last time I was making $ 51 an hour, okay?
- 27:48Speaker 4: So I retired at 55, okay?
- 27:56Speaker 5: And when you can do that, then come and talk
- 28:00Speaker 5: to Chip.
- 28:02Speaker 4: And you know what?
- 28:03Speaker 13: The only thing I'm jealous of is I saw him
- 28:07Speaker 13: one time at the Hard Rock Casino. Man, those glasses
- 28:10Speaker 13: are so thick he could see the future. He was
- 28:12Speaker 13: going through the casino and he was telling people.
- 28:14Speaker 5: You're going to win.
- 28:15Speaker 4: You're going to win. You're going to lose.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 28:18Speaker 4: Later.
- 28:20Speaker 1: You guys see this high school? You know, High school
- 28:25Speaker 1: football is serious business, right, in a lot of places.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I didn't realize it was so serious in Bakersfield. I
- 28:31Speaker 1: guess a couple of kids who played for Garces High School,
- 28:38Speaker 1: apparently they moved from another school and now they're ineligible
- 28:42Speaker 1: to play football for Garces because their paperwork or something,
- 28:45Speaker 1: the address, some investigator, some private investigator found out that
- 28:50Speaker 1: their transfer paperwork was wrong or something. I'm just reading
- 28:56Speaker 1: the story right now. Somebody sent it to me because, man,
- 28:59Speaker 1: I didn't realize high school. I guess since this NIL,
- 29:01Speaker 1: since now you can get paid in college lots of
- 29:04Speaker 1: money to play football, I guess it's probably a trickle-down
- 29:07Speaker 1: effect now, right? Because high schools now are going to
- 29:09Speaker 1: have some serious business for these kids if it isn't already.
- 29:16Speaker 1: I don't know a lot about high school football. but
- 29:18Speaker 1: I was reading the story. So apparently they broke the rules.
- 29:21Speaker 1: I apparently the address or something where they live, which
- 29:24Speaker 1: I thought Garces was a private school. I thought you
- 29:26Speaker 1: could live anywhere, must have some sort of different rules
- 29:30Speaker 1: as it applies to sports. When you transfer from school
- 29:33Speaker 1: to school, cause it's sanctioned by the, what is it?
- 29:35Speaker 1: The California, the CIF sanctions it. Um, But I guess
- 29:41Speaker 1: my question is not, I kind of understand what they're
- 29:45Speaker 1: going for, but who hired the private investigator?
- 29:50Speaker 2: Does anybody, and that would be my question.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Who hired, did somebody from another school hire the private investigator?
- 29:55Speaker 1: I mean, the way the story reads, it says, hold on.
- 30:00Speaker 1: It says, it is unknown at this time. Oh, wait, no,
- 30:03Speaker 1: hold on. That's not what it says. I guess the
- 30:06Speaker 1: private eye says no school employees, coaches, or other individuals
- 30:09Speaker 1: were involved with this investigation.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Well, how did the investigation get started then? Who started it?
- 30:16Speaker 1: And I was under the impression, now I'm no huge
- 30:19Speaker 1: high school football fan, I was under impression that this
- 30:21Speaker 1: stuff happens all the.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Time in high school football.
- 30:25Speaker 1: But there you go.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Who hired the PI? You know? You got to believe
- 30:31Speaker 2: they're not. If there was something fraudulent, which I don't.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Know what it is, I don't know how, it's just them,
- 30:39Speaker 1: whoever they are, you know?
- 30:42Speaker 2: All right, 8-4-2-5-4, 7-7, I don't know.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Now that that NIL money, that college players can get paid,
- 30:49Speaker 1: why wouldn't it trickle down to high schoolers? You got
- 30:51Speaker 1: to get the next big players to your program, right?
- 30:54Speaker 1: So this story I saw about this guy, these kids
- 31:00Speaker 1: that Garce is getting kicked off the team or suspended
- 31:03Speaker 1: because of something. Why did they hire a private investigator?
- 31:06Speaker 1: Who hired the private investigator is what, and I, you know,
- 31:11Speaker 1: it is kind of crazy though with now that they
- 31:14Speaker 1: pay athletes in college. Yeah. Now that they pay them
- 31:20Speaker 1: in college, that's going to change the dynamic of high school, right?
- 31:24Speaker 1: All right, 842-5477. I'm just curious. I mean, is it
- 31:28Speaker 1: that serious? Just is it really that serious, to be
- 31:34Speaker 1: honest with you? You know, in high school sports, I
- 31:37Speaker 1: know they take it real seriously in Texas, but I
- 31:41Speaker 1: didn't realize they took it that seriously in Bakersfield.
- 31:43Speaker 2: I mean, how big of a deal is it really?
- 31:47Speaker 1: Hey, Rome, so I was talking to one of somebody.
- 31:50Speaker 1: He said there were these two kids that were going
- 31:52Speaker 1: to a Division I high school trying to transfer to Garces,
- 31:55Speaker 1: which is not a Division I. See, now, I don't
- 31:59Speaker 1: understand all of that either. Somebody tried to explain that
- 32:02Speaker 1: to me one time. I don't understand all the Division I, II, IA,
- 32:06Speaker 1: I don't understand. I don't know which one's which, and
- 32:08Speaker 1: apparently they can change. So they think it's other high schools,
- 32:14Speaker 1: somebody from another high school. Huh, that's interesting. Well, somebody's
- 32:20Speaker 1: got to be mad about it, right, for that to happen?
- 32:22Speaker 1: Good morning, Hop. What's going on?
- 32:24Speaker 4: I think it was Big Boy or Raider Joe called
- 32:27Speaker 4: the P.I.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Gosh, yeah, there you go.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Is it that serious?
- 32:32Speaker 1: Is high school football or high school sports that serious
- 32:37Speaker 1: in town that that's what's going on?
- 32:40Speaker 2: Somebody's snitching?
- 32:41Speaker 1: Hey, good morning, Roman. I'm glad that you covered that
- 32:43Speaker 1: because my son plays for And I still wasn't sure
- 32:48Speaker 1: what was going on. Oh, yeah.
- 32:51Speaker 2: I mean, somebody sent me the story, a guy, football guy.
- 32:55Speaker 1: He sent me the story about it. I don't get it.
- 33:01Speaker 1: I don't want to understand why it's such a big deal, whatever.
- 33:03Speaker 1: But who hired the P.I. to follow the kids around?
- 33:08Speaker 1: I mean, that's kind of creepy in itself, right? Who
- 33:11Speaker 1: hired a P.I.? Good morning, Hal. What's going on?
- 33:15Speaker 4: Hey, Romeo.
- 33:16Speaker 8: I think it was somebody from Liberty High School that
- 33:19Speaker 8: did it, because that's where those two young men came from.
- 33:22Speaker 4: And they got a lot of money.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Well, in the story, it says that nobody, coaches, parents,
- 33:28Speaker 1: or other high school officials were involved in the story
- 33:30Speaker 1: that I read. But you might be right. Yeah, that's right.
- 33:34Speaker 3: That's what that investor, that PI guy is saying.
- 33:36Speaker 4: But he also said that there's more to come, too. So,
- 33:40Speaker 4: you know, there's like Bakersfield Christian. I always thought Garces was.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Exempt from stuff like that because it's such a small
- 33:46Speaker 3: private school.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Well, they're exempt from, they should be exempt from boundaries
- 33:51Speaker 1: for you to go to school there, but they're not
- 33:53Speaker 1: exempt from CIF rules.
- 33:56Speaker 7: Okay.
- 33:56Speaker 1: So I believe that's what it is. But I just
- 33:59Speaker 1: don't understand why it's a big deal. I mean, they're
- 34:01Speaker 1: high school football players. That's what I don't get. Is
- 34:04Speaker 1: it really that serious? Is that serious? I don't know
- 34:09Speaker 1: if it's that serious or not. That's what I can't
- 34:11Speaker 1: figure out.
- 34:12Speaker 13: Well, they're opening up a big old can of waters
- 34:14Speaker 13: because Bexel Christian had a ton of transfers.
- 34:17Speaker 3: Even Foothill High School.
- 34:19Speaker 4: So there's a lot.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Of transfers that happened this last offseason, I guess you'd say.
- 34:25Speaker 4: But it's other sports, too, like Liberty's baseball program. They
- 34:28Speaker 4: have a bunch of studs.
- 34:29Speaker 1: There, too.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 34:29Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Well, I mean, you can't– you've got to imagine the
- 34:34Speaker 1: trickle-down effect, which has happened with college now, where you
- 34:38Speaker 1: can just– it used to be in college, if you transferred,
- 34:41Speaker 1: you had to wait a year to play. Now you
- 34:44Speaker 1: can just transfer whenever you want and get paid. So
- 34:47Speaker 1: I guess it only makes sense for it to trickle
- 34:49Speaker 1: down to high schools, though, too.
- 34:51Speaker 3: Yeah, and they are stud athletes, too.
- 34:54Speaker 4: So I don't know, man. It's a bunch of crap.
- 34:57Speaker 1: But here's my question about a stud athlete, okay? If
- 35:01Speaker 1: regardless of where a stud athlete plays, whatever school they
- 35:05Speaker 1: go to, a college is going to find them.
- 35:09Speaker 4: It's not like that.
- 35:10Speaker 1: I mean, so what does it that's what I can't
- 35:13Speaker 1: figure out. You're not going to if you're good at something,
- 35:16Speaker 1: they'll find you regardless of where you're at.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I've always said that, too.
- 35:20Speaker 4: You have decent grades, too, and all that stuff. Yeah,
- 35:24Speaker 4: it doesn't matter where you're at.
- 35:25Speaker 1: I don't even think you've got to have decent grades.
- 35:26Speaker 1: If you're good enough to play a sport for a college,
- 35:29Speaker 1: I think they'll figure it out. They'll find you and
- 35:31Speaker 1: they'll get you in. So I don't get it. I mean,
- 35:33Speaker 1: it's just, but I guess it would make sense. It's
- 35:36Speaker 1: kind of the trickle-down effect of it happening like that.
- 35:39Speaker 1: If colleges are changing, high schools are going to have
- 35:41Speaker 1: to change, too.
- 35:43Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 35:43Speaker 4: I heard that these guys, these kids were being like stopped, man. But,
- 35:46Speaker 4: you know, it's it's much.
- 35:48Speaker 5: Wow.
- 35:48Speaker 2: That's creepy, bro.
- 35:50Speaker 1: That's just creepy.
- 35:51Speaker 4: And this is young. Yeah, this is young men, you know.
- 35:53Speaker 2: I do got to tell you something funny, though.
- 35:58Speaker 1: High schoolers, people in high schools in smaller towns. Hold
- 36:03Speaker 1: a grudge. I know people that still hate people they
- 36:06Speaker 1: went to high school with 30 years ago.
- 36:08Speaker 2: They're still mad at them.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I'm like, my God, get over it.
- 36:12Speaker 4: All right, brother.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Thanks for calling, man.
- 36:16Speaker 6: Later.
- 36:17Speaker 1: All right, thank you.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 36:20Speaker 1: I hear the stories. I hear all the stories just
- 36:22Speaker 1: like you guys do. Who knows what... But, yeah, it's
- 36:28Speaker 1: funny how small-town, not athletics, but small-town high schools like Bakersfield, and, man,
- 36:34Speaker 1: you people.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Be holding a grudge against each other.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Still mad. Still mad about something that happened when you
- 36:40Speaker 1: were a freshman 25 years ago, and you see that
- 36:42Speaker 1: person at Walmart pissed off at them. Oh, they did
- 36:45Speaker 1: that 25 years, even though you're supposedly doing better than
- 36:48Speaker 1: you were. What did Raider Dave say here? Plus, oh,
- 36:52Speaker 1: he says, just saying, if Big Boy and Raider Joe
- 36:55Speaker 1: can sell out against a fellow Raider fan, against a Chief,
- 37:02Speaker 1: there's no telling what them two fakes will do. So
- 37:05Speaker 1: because Big Boy and Raider Joe, who I have been
- 37:09Speaker 1: friends with for 30 years, personally been friends with, they
- 37:14Speaker 1: were supportive of me because the Chiefs won and not
- 37:17Speaker 1: supportive of Raider Dave because the Raiders lost then. They
- 37:21Speaker 1: must be fakes. Okay.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Party for two, five, four, seven, seven.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Yo, Rome, it's all these parents that think they're entitled
- 37:30Speaker 1: and think they have an opinion instead of letting the
- 37:32Speaker 1: kids just play. It's just high school. Not that serious.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Let them have fun. It happens all the time. I'm
- 37:38Speaker 1: sure they left because one parent was saying they are
- 37:44Speaker 1: what their little kid wasn't getting playtime. It's just so
- 37:48Speaker 1: ridiculous now. Like you said before, these grown-ass adults that
- 37:52Speaker 1: are trying to live through their kids because they couldn't
- 37:55Speaker 1: make it.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Well, maybe.
- 38:00Speaker 1: I'm just, you know, here's the thing. High school is competitive, right?
- 38:07Speaker 1: Especially in Bakersfield. You hear guys that haven't been in
- 38:10Speaker 1: high school in 25, 30 years still talking about how
- 38:14Speaker 1: my high school team beat your high school team. So
- 38:17Speaker 1: I get the competitiveness of it. I guess what I'm
- 38:20Speaker 1: trying to figure out is with college changing so dramatically,
- 38:24Speaker 1: college is dramatically different now. But high school in itself,
- 38:30Speaker 1: does it matter where you play high school?
- 38:33Speaker 2: Does it matter where you play.
- 38:36Speaker 1: A sport in high school? Obviously, some high schools in
- 38:39Speaker 1: Bakersfield are known for for certain sports, whether it be volleyball.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Some high schools have better wrestling teams. Some high schools
- 38:47Speaker 1: have better water polo, volleyball, football, baseball. But to me,
- 38:53Speaker 1: I've always believed that the college recruits know how to
- 38:56Speaker 1: evaluate talent so well that they'll find a talented person.
- 39:04Speaker 2: No matter what school you go to. I believe that. Now,
- 39:07Speaker 2: I could be wrong. I could be 100% wrong about that.
- 39:11Speaker 1: But I believe these college, I don't think, I mean,
- 39:15Speaker 1: unless you're La Sala or what are those teams in L.A.
- 39:18Speaker 1: that are just dominant all the time? I mean, unless
- 39:20Speaker 1: you're one of those guys. But I would think that,
- 39:24Speaker 1: you know, no matter what sport you play in Bakersfield,
- 39:28Speaker 1: no matter what high school you play for, a college
- 39:30Speaker 1: recruit will find you if you're talented enough to play college.
- 39:33Speaker 4: Right?
- 39:34Speaker 1: Am I wrong about that? RD4254, 7 to 7.
- 39:36Speaker 12: Hi, I'm... I just wanted to tell you, my son,
- 39:43Speaker 12: he got signed from West High School, so you're exactly right.
- 39:46Speaker 12: I mean, if they got talent, I mean, they got talent,
- 39:48Speaker 12: but they also have stats online, you know, so they
- 39:52Speaker 12: follow the stats, too.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 39:55Speaker 12: But, yeah, they, no matter what school you go to.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Well, that's what I would think.
- 40:00Speaker 12: I mean, okay.
- 40:00Speaker 1: All right. Well, thanks for calling.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Later.
- 40:03Speaker 2: I mean, that's what I would think. If you're talented,
- 40:06Speaker 2: you're talented.
- 40:09Speaker 7: Good morning.
- 40:09Speaker 1: How's it going on?
- 40:10Speaker 6: Hey, what's up, Rome?
- 40:11Speaker 4: This is Seahawk Lou.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Yeah, Lou, I'm just getting ready to read your text messages.
- 40:15Speaker 9: What, uh.
- 40:17Speaker 1: What?
- 40:18Speaker 9: I was going to say something else, though, too.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Well, let me read it first. Seahawk Lou's text has said,
- 40:23Speaker 1: dumb things down. This is how you know Seahawk Lou's
- 40:26Speaker 1: the dumbest in Bakersfield, because he's going to dumb things
- 40:27Speaker 1: down for us.
- 40:29Speaker 2: The schools are in different levels.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Easy, medium, hard. Two players on a hard division are
- 40:34Speaker 1: trying to get to a school in an easy division
- 40:37Speaker 1: so they can dominate. Just... just how you can explain things,
- 40:42Speaker 1: I guess. All right, what do you got to say?
- 40:44Speaker 9: Well, I feel like this whole situation kind of reminds
- 40:48Speaker 9: me of, like, when they didn't want Bobby Boucher playing
- 40:52Speaker 9: for the Mud Dogs.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Oh, God. You see, you really are dumbing things down
- 40:56Speaker 1: for us. Oh, my God.
- 40:58Speaker 9: Yeah, so everybody could understand what's going on.
- 41:00Speaker 8: You know what I mean?
- 41:01Speaker 9: You got some people listening like, what?
- 41:03Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to tell you like this, Lou, and
- 41:06Speaker 1: I was going to say this when I read your
- 41:08Speaker 1: text was, Brock Purdy was the last person picked in
- 41:11Speaker 1: the draft. Tom Brady was, what, a hundred and some?
- 41:15Speaker 1: And they ended up being very successful. One is being successful.
- 41:20Speaker 1: But my point is, I think that these college recruiters
- 41:25Speaker 1: are smart enough and know their job enough to... understand
- 41:32Speaker 1: if a kid is just dominating within a certain division
- 41:35Speaker 1: or a certain level of easiness or hardness. I think
- 41:38Speaker 1: they're smarter than that. I don't think you can go
- 41:42Speaker 1: play somewhere, Lou, against an easy squad, so to speak,
- 41:47Speaker 1: as you put it, and a college recruiter go, well,
- 41:50Speaker 1: I'm going to get this guy because they know the
- 41:52Speaker 1: difference in the levels of sport. I don't think they're
- 41:54Speaker 1: that naive.
- 41:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like you're right on that. But also.
- 42:01Speaker 9: there's people that make it difficult for kids to just play,
- 42:06Speaker 9: which I don't think is right.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Just let the kids play.
- 42:09Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 42:09Speaker 3: All right.
- 42:10Speaker 1: I didn't know high school sports was that serious. I
- 42:12Speaker 1: didn't realize that. I've never seen a story like this
- 42:16Speaker 1: before in Bakersfield, but I don't think it was that serious.
- 42:21Speaker 4: It's a crazy story, man.
- 42:22Speaker 9: I mean, even Wasco and Shafter to this day, I
- 42:25Speaker 9: hate the generals.
- 42:27Speaker 4: You know what I mean? And I'm 36 years old.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Like I said, you guys need to get over it.
- 42:33Speaker 1: I go to the Wasco-Shafter games when they're in Shafter. Yeah,
- 42:36Speaker 1: you idiots.
- 42:37Speaker 2: Whole town shuts down so.
- 42:39Speaker 1: You can hate each other. What the hell is wrong
- 42:40Speaker 1: with you people?
- 42:41Speaker 9: Yeah, we have these big fires burning a big general
- 42:45Speaker 9: and everything.
- 42:46Speaker 4: It's fun.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Oh, you guys are such idiots.
- 42:49Speaker 2: All right, get out of here.
- 42:52Speaker 1: See what I mean?
- 42:53Speaker 2: Holding grudges.
- 42:54Speaker 1: All right. Where are we?
- 42:56Speaker 2: Hey, good morning, Rome.
- 42:58Speaker 1: At the youth level, there are teams and parents who
- 43:01Speaker 1: will force their kids to reclass in order to play
- 43:04Speaker 1: another year at the youth level instead of playing in
- 43:06Speaker 1: high school. Parents do that so their kids can outshine
- 43:09Speaker 1: younger players. There's kids playing youth football that should be
- 43:14Speaker 1: freshmen or sophomores and yet still playing the youth football.
- 43:18Speaker 5: Okay.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Yeah, they said that quarterback for the, even Troy Aikman
- 43:22Speaker 1: made a statement last night, that quarterback for the, I
- 43:25Speaker 1: think it was the Saints, seven years in college played?
- 43:28Speaker 1: I don't know how that's even possible. I get what
- 43:31Speaker 1: you're saying. But like I just told Seahawk Lou, I
- 43:36Speaker 1: think when these recruits evaluate high school athletes, they're smarter
- 43:44Speaker 1: and have been doing it long enough to understand that
- 43:47Speaker 1: if they have talent, and they believe they're talented enough
- 43:51Speaker 1: to play on.
- 43:51Speaker 2: A college level, they'll take them.
- 43:55Speaker 1: I don't think you putting the best kid from the
- 44:01Speaker 1: hardest level on the lowest level or whatever... You know,
- 44:05Speaker 1: if you're second string on a team that's in a
- 44:08Speaker 1: division that's harder and you go transfer to a school
- 44:11Speaker 1: that's easier because you look better there, I don't think
- 44:16Speaker 1: these college recruiters are that stupid. I think they know.
- 44:20Speaker 1: I think they know how to evaluate talent. Hold on.
- 44:23Speaker 8: Oh, my God.
- 44:23Speaker 4: He went and did it.
- 44:24Speaker 9: Who?
- 44:25Speaker 8: Now we got to rename him. Louis Boucher. Oh.
- 44:29Speaker 13: I can't believe he brought up that movie. He was
- 44:33Speaker 13: better off saying, on the way, Megan.
- 44:36Speaker 4: Don't you say you like to see grown men naked?
- 44:41Speaker 4: Louis Boucher.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Yes, his new name. God, Lou. Oh, my God. But
- 44:48Speaker 1: you got to be fair about it. I go to
- 44:51Speaker 1: the TAF games. I go to the TAF-Wosco rivalry game
- 44:55Speaker 1: because I got a couple of buddies who, boy, they
- 45:01Speaker 1: act silly. Go to that game and the whole town
- 45:03Speaker 1: closes down. I can't even get a Subway sandwich because
- 45:08Speaker 1: they're at the game. You know? It's just, and these
- 45:12Speaker 1: guys are like 40 years old. Talking about, we hate Wasco.
- 45:18Speaker 1: We hate Shafter. It reminds me of that movie, if
- 45:21Speaker 1: you haven't seen it yet. I know it's an old
- 45:23Speaker 1: school movie. The Best of Times with Robin Williams and
- 45:26Speaker 1: Kurt Russell. Where Taft High lost to Bakersfield High. I
- 45:31Speaker 1: never made a movie about it! You idiots hold grudges.
- 45:38Speaker 1: They made a movie about it. Yeah, what's going on?
- 45:45Speaker 4: Good morning, Romeo.
- 45:46Speaker 10: Hey, what's up?
- 45:48Speaker 6: I was going to say high school, the issue with
- 45:52Speaker 6: high school recruiting is big business because college recruiting is
- 45:58Speaker 6: big money.
- 45:59Speaker 1: That would make sense. It trickles down.
- 46:04Speaker 6: Being able to find a high school student with the
- 46:10Speaker 6: right grades, the right build, and the right performance that
- 46:14Speaker 6: a college would want, like a.
- 46:16Speaker 7: College recruiter would want, is a needle in a haystack.
- 46:20Speaker 4: We can just.
- 46:21Speaker 6: Say it like that because there's a lot of good players.
- 46:25Speaker 8: And, yeah, some have better grades than each other.
- 46:27Speaker 6: But what it comes down to is you're trying to
- 46:31Speaker 6: get your kid the best, I guess the best view
- 46:38Speaker 6: possible for.
- 46:40Speaker 7: Most people to be able to see them.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Let me ask you this then. If I played on
- 46:46Speaker 1: a basketball team, which was, and let's just say I
- 46:50Speaker 1: was good enough to beat the worst teams in high school.
- 46:56Speaker 1: but not good enough to beat the best teams in
- 46:58Speaker 1: high school. Do you think a college recruiter is going
- 47:01Speaker 1: to look at me and say, we've got to get
- 47:02Speaker 1: that dominant Romeo because he's just beating these kids?
- 47:05Speaker 4: No.
- 47:06Speaker 1: That's what my point is. I don't think it matters.
- 47:09Speaker 1: They don't look like that. Okay.
- 47:13Speaker 6: That's why who is winning in town, the talked-about schools,
- 47:19Speaker 6: we're not going to say the new coaches, but the
- 47:22Speaker 6: coaches with the best– um the best um lord i
- 47:27Speaker 6: can't even think just more the best stats those are
- 47:30Speaker 6: why these parents and these students these.
- 47:32Speaker 7: Kids are trying to go to their schools and.
- 47:35Speaker 6: They're being recruited they're trying to gather up the best.
- 47:38Speaker 7: Team they have possible because it's.
- 47:40Speaker 6: Big money it's big money for these high schools because
- 47:43Speaker 6: football pays for all the other sports at the school.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Oh i don't I didn't realize football was that. I
- 47:48Speaker 1: didn't realize football made money for high schools.
- 47:50Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 47:50Speaker 1: I didn't realize that.
- 47:51Speaker 4: Football is what pays for everything.
- 47:53Speaker 6: It pays for golf, softball, volleyball, you name it.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Okay.
- 47:57Speaker 4: But with that... For.
- 48:00Speaker 7: You to be able to be seen.
- 48:02Speaker 6: At a college level to get these recruits to see,
- 48:06Speaker 6: your team has to be worth something.
- 48:08Speaker 7: Because just because, you know, like you said, these smaller.
- 48:12Speaker 6: Schools that play for these smaller, not smaller leagues, but.
- 48:16Speaker 4: Not at a higher level.
- 48:18Speaker 6: I mean, they may eventually look at them. You might
- 48:21Speaker 6: have somebody with stats so great. that they may gander attention,
- 48:26Speaker 6: but on an average, you're not going to get people
- 48:28Speaker 6: to look at them like that. So that's why they
- 48:30Speaker 6: start moving schools and stuff like that.
- 48:32Speaker 4: All right.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Well, thanks for calling. I appreciate it.
- 48:35Speaker 5: No problem.
- 48:35Speaker 1: All right, bye. I mean, it makes sense what she said.
- 48:39Speaker 1: I mean, the trickle-down effect of the pros to what
- 48:43Speaker 1: college is doing now to high school.
- 48:44Speaker 6: Hey, good morning, Remy. I was calling back because I
- 48:46Speaker 6: wanted to give you a fun fact in Kern County.
- 48:49Speaker 8: Okay.
- 48:50Speaker 6: In 1997, the Kern High School District imposed the penalty
- 48:57Speaker 6: that if you transferred from one school already being a
- 49:02Speaker 6: high school student, so in other words, being in the
- 49:04Speaker 6: ninth grade or above, and you transferred to another school,
- 49:07Speaker 6: you would have to sit out for two years.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Two years?
- 49:11Speaker 6: Two years back then. I think they wound up, it
- 49:14Speaker 6: might have been one and then went to two or
- 49:16Speaker 6: two to one.
- 49:16Speaker 3: I'm not exactly sure.
- 49:18Speaker 6: But the reason for that was because of my brother.
- 49:22Speaker 6: His name was Aaron Graham. He wound up leaving South
- 49:26Speaker 6: High School because they sucked. And he went to BHS
- 49:32Speaker 6: and they wound up winning, I believe, a Valley Championship title.
- 49:37Speaker 7: If I'm not mistaken.
- 49:38Speaker 4: If not, they did.
- 49:40Speaker 6: Very well in the two years that he was there,
- 49:42Speaker 6: and he wound up getting a full-ride scholarship to USC.
- 49:45Speaker 6: But South High was so mad, so mad, that they
- 49:52Speaker 6: used to have.
- 49:52Speaker 7: Whole meetings with the district.
- 49:54Speaker 6: They were trying to get him, like, Because he also
- 50:00Speaker 6: wrestled and he threw track.
- 50:01Speaker 7: They were trying to get him not to be able
- 50:03Speaker 7: to do any type.
- 50:04Speaker 6: Of sports until he left. I mean, they had athletic
- 50:08Speaker 6: directors coming there trying to beg and plead for him
- 50:11Speaker 6: to please not leave.
- 50:13Speaker 4: Sports is serious.
- 50:16Speaker 2: I didn't realize it was that serious.
- 50:18Speaker 1: I knew it was serious, but not this serious where
- 50:20Speaker 1: people are just now, I mean.
- 50:22Speaker 6: Oh, they were, they were up in arms because South
- 50:25Speaker 6: thought they had a, they thought they had a hog,
- 50:28Speaker 6: you know, in their program now and that they were
- 50:30Speaker 6: just going to be something great. And my brother even,
- 50:33Speaker 6: you know, fell into.
- 50:34Speaker 7: That hype that, hey, I'm going to come here.
- 50:36Speaker 6: We're going to be something great. But their workout. The
- 50:39Speaker 6: work ethic and their attitude and whatever just didn't merge
- 50:42Speaker 6: with what her brother was. So he went to VHS
- 50:44Speaker 6: and they did very well. And baby South High was.
- 50:48Speaker 1: See, look, your brother started all this controversy 20 years...
- 50:51Speaker 1: What is it?
- 50:52Speaker 4: 30 years later?
- 50:53Speaker 12: In 1997.
- 50:54Speaker 1: We're going to blame your brother now. Call him and
- 50:57Speaker 1: tell him. Blame him.
- 50:58Speaker 4: Hey, thanks for calling.
- 50:59Speaker 6: No problem.
- 51:00Speaker 5: Bye.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Yo, Rome, my dad would tell his stories about how
- 51:10Speaker 1: Delano would be at war with early mite and rich
- 51:14Speaker 1: grove in high school. So I started telling my friends
- 51:17Speaker 1: about the beef from back then and come to find
- 51:21Speaker 1: out their dads told them very similar stories. We held
- 51:24Speaker 1: the beef and started treating those out-of-towners different, which led
- 51:29Speaker 1: to Delano slash early mite slash rich grove beef in
- 51:32Speaker 1: my high school years. It was fun.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Ha ha ha.
- 51:37Speaker 1: I mean, you might take your high school beef.
- 51:39Speaker 2: A little too seriously. You know what I'm saying?
- 51:41Speaker 1: You might want to relax, especially when you become a,
- 51:45Speaker 1: you know, if you're a successful grown adult. Man, get
- 51:48Speaker 1: over it. All right. Rome, it makes a small difference
- 51:52Speaker 1: on which high school you go to. I've been hearing
- 51:54Speaker 1: a lot of kids from Liberty are getting big scholarships
- 51:57Speaker 1: for football. I doubt kids from Tehachapi are getting the
- 52:00Speaker 1: same exposure. Fun fact, that's why Ryan Matthews came to Bakersfield.
- 52:06Speaker 1: He played peewee in Tehachapi. And someone told his mom
- 52:10Speaker 1: she better get him into a bigger school to get
- 52:13Speaker 1: the exposure he needed. And look what happened. And I
- 52:16Speaker 1: know this for a fact.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Okay.
- 52:20Speaker 1: I guess. I guess.
- 52:21Speaker 9: All right.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Hey, Roman, I think it's a good idea for them
- 52:24Speaker 1: to make sure these kids stay in the school they
- 52:27Speaker 1: belong to. The local youth leagues have these rules even
- 52:31Speaker 1: though kids get around it. It makes it hard to
- 52:34Speaker 1: build teams when these parents don't follow the rules. I mean, yeah,
- 52:39Speaker 1: I guess it does.
- 52:40Speaker 9: You're right.
- 52:40Speaker 1: It's already 4-2-5-4, 7-7. What did you guys send me here? Rome,
- 52:46Speaker 1: there is college scouts that have people going to different
- 52:49Speaker 1: high schools looking for talent. And when they find them,
- 52:52Speaker 1: they try to get them to go to Bakersfield Christian
- 52:55Speaker 1: or Independent or Garces because when they come from other colleges,
- 53:01Speaker 1: they go to certain high schools to scout. I don't
- 53:05Speaker 1: understand that. I don't understand what you're saying there, but okay. Hey, Rom,
- 53:12Speaker 1: speaking of only beating the worst teams, how about them Raiders? Yeah,
- 53:17Speaker 1: the Raiders have only beaten the worst teams. Hey, Rom,
- 53:22Speaker 1: put on a Raiders song. Hey, Rome, I love when
- 53:26Speaker 1: people know for a fact. You know, maybe they, I
- 53:34Speaker 1: don't know. I mean, things become facts real quick in
- 53:37Speaker 1: a small town. Rumors become facts real quick, okay? I
- 53:41Speaker 1: actually have no idea what's going on. I read the
- 53:43Speaker 1: story on the news about it, and yeah, so I don't,
- 53:54Speaker 1: you know. I just, I, what I was, I just
- 53:56Speaker 1: didn't know it was that I didn't know high school
- 53:58Speaker 1: sports was that serious.
- 54:01Speaker 2: I mean, I understand the amount of.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Money that's involved in college sports and the amount of
- 54:05Speaker 1: money that's involved in professional sports. I just didn't realize
- 54:09Speaker 1: it had trickled down, uh, to high school to the
- 54:13Speaker 1: extent that somebody hired a private investigator to follow these kids. Um,
- 54:22Speaker 1: And maybe it was the CIF. Maybe it was the
- 54:24Speaker 1: CIF who hired the private investigator. But it's obviously, obviously
- 54:32Speaker 1: something's going on here. And that is a little more
- 54:37Speaker 1: serious than I think it needs to be.
- 54:39Speaker 2: But, you know, who hired the PI? That's what I'd
- 54:43Speaker 2: like to know.
- 54:44Speaker 1: And if you hired a PI to follow some kids
- 54:47Speaker 1: around because you're bent over whatever decisions they made or
- 54:51Speaker 1: their parents made, then man, what is wrong with you?
- 54:55Speaker 1: Why do you care? How does it affect you?
- 54:59Speaker 5: Right?
- 55:00Speaker 2: Like, let's just say I'm a fan.
- 55:01Speaker 1: Let's just say I went to this school, okay?
- 55:05Speaker 2: Whatever school it was, right?
- 55:07Speaker 1: And the best kid leaves or the best five kids
- 55:11Speaker 1: leave to go to a private school or another school, right? Why?
- 55:15Speaker 7: Why?
- 55:16Speaker 1: What do I have to be? How mad do I
- 55:19Speaker 1: have to be or bitter do I have to be
- 55:21Speaker 1: to actually hire a private investigator? Or to even, you know,
- 55:27Speaker 1: you can be mad about it, but damn, to take
- 55:29Speaker 1: steps to retaliate? And I don't even know if that's
- 55:33Speaker 1: what happened. I just read the story that this private
- 55:35Speaker 1: investigator has this report.
- 55:37Speaker 2: I'm like, who got the P.I.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Maybe it was the college. Maybe it was the CIF,
- 55:48Speaker 1: you know. Maybe it was the governing body who got
- 55:52Speaker 1: the PI. I don't know.
- 55:54Speaker 2: It does seem a little serious, right?
- 55:57Speaker 4: Good morning, Romeo.
- 55:59Speaker 1: What up, brother?
- 56:00Speaker 8: Okay, man. So let me tell you, it goes further
- 56:02Speaker 8: than that. Like even back to when they were playing
- 56:05Speaker 8: flag football, right? I would have coaches come to my job,
- 56:10Speaker 8: sit down with me, and asked if my son could
- 56:12Speaker 8: come play with them. You know, and I'm like, he's
- 56:15Speaker 8: five years old. Okay, he's probably about nine around this time,
- 56:21Speaker 8: but he had been playing since he was five.
- 56:24Speaker 4: And, you know, he's got a little talent. Not to
- 56:27Speaker 4: say that anybody else would agree.
- 56:30Speaker 8: Anyway, so he happens to be one of the youngsters
- 56:33Speaker 8: playing at Garces. The cool part about this whole thing
- 56:37Speaker 8: is they're trying to take all the kids' stats away.
- 56:41Speaker 1: All the kids' stats. How could they do that?
- 56:44Speaker 8: Well, that's what they're saying.
- 56:45Speaker 4: They have to forfeit the games that the kids are
- 56:47Speaker 4: in now.
- 56:47Speaker 1: It's all that they forfeited the games.
- 56:51Speaker 4: You go from five.
- 56:52Speaker 8: And one and flip the whole script.
- 56:59Speaker 1: But from what I understand, I think what I read
- 57:01Speaker 1: was if they win, they have one win, one and
- 57:05Speaker 1: four because of the– But.
- 57:07Speaker 8: They actually did win the game without the two kids.
- 57:11Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:12Speaker 1: So they're one and four.
- 57:13Speaker 4: That's a lot of folks salty.
- 57:14Speaker 1: But if they win the next three games, three of
- 57:17Speaker 1: them can still be eligible for the playoffs, I think.
- 57:20Speaker 4: Well, that's what they're going to have to do.
- 57:22Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 57:22Speaker 1: But they were going to win them all anyways.
- 57:25Speaker 8: You know, it gets tough. You know, sometimes you're playing
- 57:27Speaker 8: these schools from, like, out of town and You just
- 57:30Speaker 8: don't know what's coming to the table or where you're
- 57:33Speaker 8: going to.
- 57:34Speaker 4: And like the.
- 57:34Speaker 8: Officials, you talk about, man, them officials, there's been a
- 57:39Speaker 8: few times I was going to go head-to-head with a
- 57:41Speaker 8: couple of them, but I'm a little cooler than that.
- 57:44Speaker 1: That's a whole other conversation, but okay.
- 57:47Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah. But I've seen it too, and I've seen
- 57:50Speaker 8: officials that, you know, they deserve this because you did
- 57:53Speaker 8: the wrong thing.
- 57:55Speaker 1: All right. All right, man.
- 57:56Speaker 8: They need to have officials actually like, Like, that they
- 58:00Speaker 8: have the same officials that travel to pay for it.
- 58:03Speaker 1: Well, let me tell you this. I do not want
- 58:06Speaker 1: to see you on Kern County activities getting into it
- 58:09Speaker 1: with an official, okay?
- 58:10Speaker 8: No, you won't see that, man.
- 58:11Speaker 4: You won't see that. I'm past that.
- 58:13Speaker 8: I'm so far past that.
- 58:16Speaker 1: I'm just saying, I don't want to see you there.
- 58:18Speaker 8: You're going to see somebody else, though. That's the thing.
- 58:21Speaker 1: All right, man. Later.
- 58:23Speaker 6: Later.
- 58:24Speaker 2: So yesterday, I probably told you guys this before, but years.
- 58:27Speaker 1: Ago, I don't even know how many years ago it
- 58:30Speaker 1: had to have been, maybe 15 years ago, a buddy
- 58:33Speaker 1: of mine was getting his car repossessed.
- 58:36Speaker 2: So he calls me. He asked to borrow some money.
- 58:39Speaker 2: And it was $ 800.
- 58:40Speaker 1: And I lent him the money. Well, just out of
- 58:45Speaker 1: the blue, I got it back yesterday. I just kind
- 58:50Speaker 1: of chalked it up as whatever.
- 58:51Speaker 2: It's gone.
- 58:53Speaker 1: But he gave it back to me, which made me
- 58:54Speaker 1: think about getting your car repoed. You ever had a
- 58:58Speaker 1: car repoed? This guy I know, he works for Happy Recovery.
- 59:04Speaker 1: And he always talks about the crazy. They do a
- 59:06Speaker 1: lot of repos, I guess. Um, he's a great guy
- 59:10Speaker 1: by the way. And the repo guys probably got a bad,
- 59:12Speaker 1: a bad, a bad reputation, um, a bad stigma around them,
- 59:16Speaker 1: even though it's, you're the one that's not paying the bill.
- 59:18Speaker 1: So it's not the repo guys fault, but this guy
- 59:20Speaker 1: does a lot of nice stuff for a route for
- 59:22Speaker 1: the community. Um, but, uh, dude, the stories he must have.
- 59:28Speaker 1: about getting a car repoed. I remember I had one
- 59:30Speaker 1: almost repoed. It was on the truck, and they get
- 59:34Speaker 1: a knock on the door about four in the morning,
- 59:37Speaker 1: and it's hooked up, and the guy goes, well, if
- 59:40Speaker 1: you pay, it was only $ 158 at the time. That's
- 59:45Speaker 1: how much I owed. I was behind. They said, well,
- 59:47Speaker 1: if you write us a check for $ 158 or give
- 59:48Speaker 1: us $ 158 in cash, we'll just give it back to you.
- 59:50Speaker 2: I doubt they still do that now.
- 59:51Speaker 1: I have no idea. But, man, I knew some guys
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: back in the day when they owed money on a car, man,
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: ducking and dodging, hiding it in garages, putting it behind fences,
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: things like that.
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: Woo!
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: It was like a cat and mouse game with the
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: repo man. Couldn't go anywhere. You had to be, had
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: your head on a swivel, make sure the repo man
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: wasn't following you, right? All right, 8-4-2-5-4, 7-7. Oh, I
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: don't even know, do they still, you ever got a repo?
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: You ever got a car repoed? Hey, Romeo, talking about
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: getting a car repoed. When I split up with my ex-husband,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: he was the one paying all the bills. He was
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: supposed to pay my car payment as part of the agreement. Well,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: he stopped paying it. And one time I came out
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: of work and my car was gone. I called the
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: cops thinking somebody stole my car, but it ended up
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: my ex had just stopped paying on it.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: So they took it back.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: That's dirty right there.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: That's dirty.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: Already 4254, 727, the repo man. Hey, bro. Dodging the
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: repo guy. A few years back, I wasn't paying on
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: a car. It took him 12 months to find me.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: I dodged him for a whole year. Yo, what's going on?
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: Hey, Rome.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: 1986, I bought a new house. 1987, I got laid off.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: From the railroad.
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: 1988, I go to Kaiser. I'm sick.
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: Real cold, windy day. I'm at Kaiser on San Dimas
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: back then.
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: Anyways, I come out of my doctor's appointment.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: My truck, I had a GMC, Jimmy, and.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: It was gone.
- 1:01:46Speaker 8: I call the police department.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: They say, sir, it got repossessed.
- 1:01:50Speaker 8: And I'm like, oh, my God, I was so sick already,
- 1:01:53Speaker 8: and it's cold, windy.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: And Man, that was a bad day, Bob.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: That's all I can say. They got you at the hospital.
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:02:01Speaker 8: I went to the credit union the next day and
- 1:02:04Speaker 8: had to do some major.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: Major ass kissing, and I got it back.
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: Nice.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: All right, man. Well, thanks for calling.
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: Those repo guys are kind of sneaky, man.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: They'll get you.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: Talking about the repo man. You ever got a car repoed?
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Let's see here. Yo, Rome. I had a car repo
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: only once, but I'm notorious for saving loose dollars and change.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: In the middle, armrest and console, when I was allowed
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: to go to the car to take out my personal belongings,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: guess what was missing? All that money. I can honestly
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: say it was over $ 100, but they claimed nothing was
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: in there.
- 1:02:43Speaker 13: Wow.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: So they went through the car first, huh? I'll have
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: to ask them. I know one repo guy. He listens
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: to the show. I'll have to ask him. Yeah, if
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: they do that.
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: I don't think they're supposed to do that, are they?
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: That's funny. Do you know, by the way, just a
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: little side note. Do you know where that if you
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: want to, and I'm not saying I know anybody that
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: does this, but a lot of these guys keep their
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: wallets in their cars. So they do when you break
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: into a car. Or you see an open car door,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: that's why they check these cars so much. I guess
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: a lot of, like 80% of you guys will keep
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: your wallet in the center console in your truck or
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: in your car. And a lot of people, you lose
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: a lot of money that way. Romeo in the morning.
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: Every morning.
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: 94.1.
