- 0:13Speaker 2: start a brand new day. Why are you feeling good
- 0:16Speaker 2: this morning? Eight six, six, nine two, seven forty three
- 0:18Speaker 2: sixty one called chiliamar and myself and tell us, because
- 0:22Speaker 2: we believe that joy is contagious. Well, I shouldn't speak
- 0:25Speaker 2: for you, but you know what I mean. Joy once
- 0:28Speaker 2: started can't be stopped. So go ahead and tell us
- 0:32Speaker 2: why it is you're feeling good this morning, Chili. What's
- 0:34Speaker 2: on your mind?
- 0:35Speaker 3: Well, finally this weekend we are going to be able
- 0:37Speaker 3: to go to the pool because the forecast will allow it. Now,
- 0:40Speaker 3: going to the pool and going in the pool two
- 0:43Speaker 3: different things. I don't know that I will be able
- 0:45Speaker 3: to handle the water temperature, but my son will not care.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I will tell you right now. Some of the kids
- 0:50Speaker 2: in the neighborhood made that pool their mission yesterday.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Yeah, they did it right.
- 0:54Speaker 2: They made that pool like it was their mission. I'm like,
- 0:57Speaker 2: y'all need to be like in a wetsuit or something
- 0:59Speaker 2: that's gotta be like fifty five sixty degrees.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Water is not warm. No, it takes a few weeks
- 1:05Speaker 3: for that water to warm up.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Not at all anyway. But you know what I love
- 1:09Speaker 2: about Fridays like Friday's when the weather's great in the
- 1:12Speaker 2: nation's capital and the surrounding region. I don't know why
- 1:16Speaker 2: it is, but it seems like everybody becomes an outdoor
- 1:18Speaker 2: person for at least seventy two hours.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Well, especially on the heels of ten days of rain rain, right,
- 1:24Speaker 3: I know, and we're like we're ready. I'm like, yes,
- 1:27Speaker 3: show me where outdoor movie night is. There's something this weekend,
- 1:31Speaker 3: maybe National Harbor, just to watch people exactly. Yesterday was beautiful.
- 1:35Speaker 3: The rest of this weekend is gonna be great. Let's
- 1:37Speaker 3: just let's just.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Really enjoy, enjoy what we did not get last weekend.
- 1:42Speaker 2: It's like the world is giving us a make good
- 1:45Speaker 2: minus the Monday off.
- 1:47Speaker 3: The world gave us a rain check.
- 1:51Speaker 2: So why are you feeling good this morning? Chillie's comedy.
- 1:54Speaker 2: She's gonna be at the improv later this month. Try
- 1:57Speaker 2: the veal Right on six nineteen seven, forty three sixty
- 2:01Speaker 2: one is our number. Feel free to give us a
- 2:03Speaker 2: college share. Why you're feeling great this morning. In the meantime,
- 2:06Speaker 2: hang out Top stories at the top of the hour
- 2:08Speaker 2: on this Friday morning. Chilly, What are you working on?
- 2:10Speaker 3: You know those self driving cars WAIMO. Well, they're one
- 2:14Speaker 3: step closer to making their debut in Northern Virginia. I've
- 2:19Speaker 3: got the latest on that story coming up in just
- 2:21Speaker 3: a few minutes.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 2:28Speaker 3: US and Iranian negotiators have reportedly reached a tentative agreement
- 2:32Speaker 3: to extend the ceasefire by sixty days while beginning talks
- 2:35Speaker 3: on Iran's nuclear program. The proposed deal would also require
- 2:39Speaker 3: Iran to remove minds from the straight of hor Moves
- 2:42Speaker 3: and prevent it from imposing tolls. The President says he
- 2:46Speaker 3: has no plans to pull National Guard troops out of DC.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Officials actually say another fifteen hundred Guard members are expected
- 2:54Speaker 3: to be deployed this summer to assist with security for
- 2:57Speaker 3: America's two hundred and fiftieth Birthdays celebrations, which will bring
- 3:01Speaker 3: the total number stationed in the district to roughly five thousand.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Police are enforcing temporary juvenile curfew zones in DC's U
- 3:10Speaker 3: Street Corridor. It's going on through Sunday. In an effort
- 3:14Speaker 3: to prevent large disturbances and violence, groups of young people
- 3:17Speaker 3: are prohibited from gathering in that area between eight and
- 3:21Speaker 3: eleven PM, unless, of course, they're participating in approved activities.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Waime O is mapping out parts of northern Virginia ahead
- 3:29Speaker 3: of a possible rollout of fully autonomous vehicles. Alexandria has
- 3:35Speaker 3: already been mapped, Arlington is next, and the process could
- 3:37Speaker 3: take at least a year before the self driving Jaguars
- 3:41Speaker 3: hit the road. And Bruce Springsteen is headed back to
- 3:45Speaker 3: the DC area this fall for the first ever Powered
- 3:48Speaker 3: to the People Festival, happening at Meriweather Post Pavilion. The
- 3:52Speaker 3: October third event will also feature acts including The Foo Fighters,
- 3:56Speaker 3: Dave Matthews and drop Kick Murphy's. The pre sale tickets
- 4:00Speaker 3: to the festivals start today. General sales will begin tomorrow.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Forecast today another beautiful day, sunny skies, highs around eighty
- 4:08Speaker 3: right now sixty in Burtonsville.
- 4:10Speaker 2: And that's the news with Toby and Chilly in the morning.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Remember top stories at the top of the hour. It's
- 4:15Speaker 2: the news that matters most. As you get your new
- 4:17Speaker 2: day started, and next we want to talk about you
- 4:20Speaker 2: and how you're doing. It's the Friday morning edition of
- 4:24Speaker 2: your Morning Mindset. And you know what that means, right,
- 4:27Speaker 2: might have a little best something to do with something
- 4:30Speaker 2: you might hear over this Best of the Eighties and
- 4:32Speaker 2: Nineties weekend. That is next, stay with us Washington's Friday
- 4:38Speaker 2: from the eighties nineties and today on this Friday morning,
- 4:41Speaker 2: Toby and Chilly in the Morning at ninety seven point
- 4:43Speaker 2: one wash FM, and it's time for us to take
- 4:46Speaker 2: a moment or two to talk about how you're doing
- 4:49Speaker 2: this morning?
- 4:50Speaker 3: Yeah, how is your Morning Mindset? Every day Toby shares
- 4:54Speaker 3: a quote for you to think about, and on Fridays
- 4:57Speaker 3: he shares a line on the song either from the
- 5:01Speaker 3: eighties or nineties in honor of our Best of the
- 5:03Speaker 3: eighties and nineties weekend.
- 5:04Speaker 2: And now we'll go back to nineteen ninety six, three
- 5:09Speaker 2: years after I graduated from high school. For Eric Clapton,
- 5:13Speaker 2: his song Changed the World. He says, I can't change
- 5:16Speaker 2: the world, but I can change the world in me.
- 5:20Speaker 2: You know, it's one of those things you just have
- 5:22Speaker 2: to kind of think about in the morning before you
- 5:23Speaker 2: get out of bed and you start today I can't
- 5:26Speaker 2: change the world, but I can change the world in me.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I don't think really anybody expects you to show up
- 5:35Speaker 2: today and change the world, right, And even if they
- 5:39Speaker 2: did expect it, it's probably something that you can't do,
- 5:41Speaker 2: if we're just being honest about it. However, you can
- 5:45Speaker 2: change what's inside of you. You can change the world
- 5:48Speaker 2: in you, and that can set the course for what
- 5:50Speaker 2: could be an incredible Friday, a great weekend. All it
- 5:54Speaker 2: starts with that little bit of belief that you can
- 5:56Speaker 2: change that inside of you. Don't worry about the world,
- 5:59Speaker 2: the world, worry about itself. That's your morning mindset for
- 6:02Speaker 2: this Friday. Let it sink in and share it with
- 6:06Speaker 2: somebody who might need it. Toby in Chilipage, WASHCHFM, dot com, Instagram, Facebook,
- 6:10Speaker 2: all other things. You'll find it right there and stay
- 6:13Speaker 2: with us. Is coming up next with Toby and Chili
- 6:15Speaker 2: in the morning.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Well, it turns out you actually can buy happiness.
- 6:20Speaker 2: What aha, come on now, money can't buy me love.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I didn't talk about love. I talked about happiness. And
- 6:27Speaker 3: we're gonna explain how you can put that money to
- 6:31Speaker 3: good use. Coming up in just a few minutes.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I can't get that song from the Beatles back in
- 6:36Speaker 2: the Day out of my head. Money can't buy me love,
- 6:38Speaker 2: can't buy me love, but it's not love. We're talking
- 6:42Speaker 2: about Toby and Chilly in the Morning ninety seven point
- 6:44Speaker 2: one WASHFM. So Chilly, I'm reading this right. You can
- 6:48Speaker 2: buy happiness, according to some Harvard expert.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Yeah, so this guy wrote a best selling book and
- 6:54Speaker 3: he researches happiness and he does say you can buy
- 6:59Speaker 3: love up to a point. It really depends on how
- 7:02Speaker 3: you spend this money of yours. And when we break
- 7:05Speaker 3: it down, it's going to make perfect sense if you
- 7:08Speaker 3: spend your money on experiences with loved ones that'll bring
- 7:11Speaker 3: you joy. True, you can buy time. For example, you
- 7:15Speaker 3: can pay somebody to do things for you, maybe somebody
- 7:18Speaker 3: to clean your house or whatever. That then frees up
- 7:20Speaker 3: your time and then you're like, who, I feel so
- 7:24Speaker 3: much better. You can save the money invest in your
- 7:27Speaker 3: own future because the less debt you have, the happier
- 7:30Speaker 3: you'll be. That's true, and this makes sense. Give money
- 7:34Speaker 3: to good causes, help other people with that money. That'll
- 7:38Speaker 3: bring you joy as well.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yes it does.
- 7:41Speaker 3: And you've done probably a version of every single one
- 7:44Speaker 3: of these things. Maybe it's not the ultimate happiness, but
- 7:49Speaker 3: when you do these things, it does bring you joy. Well.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I've always kind of believed you can't take it with
- 7:54Speaker 2: you when you go, so you might as well enjoy
- 7:56Speaker 2: your life while you have the time and the health
- 7:59Speaker 2: and the wellness. And that's why it doesn't surprise me
- 8:02Speaker 2: that you can spend money on experiences with people who
- 8:06Speaker 2: are closest to you and have a great time finding
- 8:08Speaker 2: some joy that way. That's that's very telling. And how
- 8:11Speaker 2: about you anything on this list?
- 8:13Speaker 3: I think for me, you have to sort of have
- 8:15Speaker 3: the money to spend on these things. And I know
- 8:18Speaker 3: a lot of people right now are going through it
- 8:19Speaker 3: like they're just a paycheck to paycheck. When you do
- 8:23Speaker 3: spend quality time with somebody, it doesn't have to cost
- 8:27Speaker 3: a lot of money, So let's not focus so much
- 8:29Speaker 3: on that. Right on. Your experience is just spending time
- 8:32Speaker 3: with loved ones is huge and giving and helping others.
- 8:35Speaker 3: You don't have to physically give cash for a good cause.
- 8:38Speaker 3: You could just volunteer your time and that too could
- 8:41Speaker 3: bring you joy.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Karma is a thing as well, you know, and it
- 8:45Speaker 2: is true to who much is given, much is required,
- 8:47Speaker 2: So I guess there is something to being able to
- 8:49Speaker 2: buy happiness. If you want to read the breakdown and
- 8:52Speaker 2: go deeper, you can on the Toby of Chilipage at
- 8:54Speaker 2: WASHIFM dot com. If you need to know what's happening
- 8:57Speaker 2: in the news, stay right there, Chili. What's up?
