Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We've got a message a bit earlier on the text
- 0:02Speaker 1: line that's really sad stuff. Joanne from Golden Glow Nursing
- 0:08Speaker 1: had been in contact to let us know about the
- 0:11Speaker 1: situation that they are in at the moment in Catherine.
- 0:14Speaker 1: As I understand it, and Joanne joins me on the
- 0:17Speaker 1: line right now, Good morning.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Joanne, Hi Katie, how are you.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Not too bad? Joanne? Tell me what is the situation
- 0:25Speaker 1: for Golden Glow Nursing at this point in Alan?
- 0:28Speaker 2: Sorry, in Catherine, Well, Katie. We've been in Catherine, had
- 0:33Speaker 2: a presence in Katherine for the last ten years, providing
- 0:36Speaker 2: services to the age care and disabilief sector there. But
- 0:41Speaker 2: since we've changed we changed premises in August twenty twenty
- 0:46Speaker 2: two because where we were releasing got sold, and since
- 0:50Speaker 2: we've been in our new property, we've been broken into
- 0:53Speaker 2: seven times since August. They've we've had two of our
- 0:57Speaker 2: fleet has destroyed. They don't take anything other than you
- 1:03Speaker 2: a little bit of food or think of that, but
- 1:05Speaker 2: just destroyed inside.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Oh, Joe's heartbreaking it is.
- 1:11Speaker 2: And the last breaking we had we had two just
- 1:14Speaker 2: this week. The last one was yesterday afternoon at one
- 1:18Speaker 2: o'clock in the afternoon.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Oh my god, and what did they look? What did
- 1:25Speaker 1: they steal or what happened?
- 1:27Speaker 2: They don't take anything, They just destroy. Oh they take
- 1:31Speaker 2: a few meals on wheels, maybe out of the freezer,
- 1:36Speaker 2: but just destroy, go through, rummage through the rummage through
- 1:40Speaker 2: the cupboards. And they noticed nothing isn't there because it's
- 1:43Speaker 2: en off. Weesit for an office. Yeah, yeah, just destroy
- 1:48Speaker 2: athlete cars, smash the windows, smash the windows to break in,
- 1:52Speaker 2: tear the security screens off the doors. We've got cameras
- 1:57Speaker 2: and we've got photos of the people that were there,
- 2:00Speaker 2: see what they're doing. But it doesn't detrite them.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Oh, Joanne, how utterly heartbreaking? I mean golden glow like
- 2:10Speaker 1: you're talking about people that are providing a service to
- 2:13Speaker 1: the community, trying to help those that are aged, those
- 2:17Speaker 1: that you know that that need that assistance.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, we just can't continuicate it financially. It's no
- 2:24Speaker 2: longer viable for us, all the property owners that we're
- 2:27Speaker 2: renting from, for us to be there.
- 2:30Speaker 1: So what are you going to do, Joanne? Are you
- 2:32Speaker 1: going to wrap up in Catherine?
- 2:34Speaker 2: We're going to wrap up in Catherine.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Oh no, So when are you having When are you
- 2:39Speaker 1: going to do that.
- 2:41Speaker 2: We're still working on dates and everything, but pretty much
- 2:45Speaker 2: as soon as possible, because, like I said, we've had
- 2:48Speaker 2: two breakings in one week. You know, sometimes do that
- 2:53Speaker 2: have to happen? Yeah, if I was the property owner
- 2:58Speaker 2: that we're renting, I would be upset. You know. They
- 3:00Speaker 2: seems to be never ending cycle. And the police have
- 3:04Speaker 2: been wonderful. They've come out, they've taken fingerprints. Someone cut
- 3:09Speaker 2: themselves coming in through the windows, so they've taken DNA,
- 3:12Speaker 2: They've done everything that they can possibly do, but there's
- 3:17Speaker 2: just seems to be no end and nothing happens. You
- 3:21Speaker 2: just get over their last break in and it happens again.
- 3:25Speaker 2: We only got a fleet two of our fleet cars back,
- 3:28Speaker 2: you know, within the last month, and now one of
- 3:30Speaker 2: them's got a smash window.
- 3:32Speaker 1: And Joanne just to let people know, like those fleet
- 3:34Speaker 1: cars for Golden Glow, you're out there, they're actually assisting
- 3:38Speaker 1: vulnerable residents and you know people that need a hand,
- 3:42Speaker 1: don't you.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's right. Well, for the for the last
- 3:46Speaker 2: probably six weeks, so the girls have been taking it
- 3:50Speaker 2: in turns, going to visit clients in cars because two
- 3:53Speaker 2: of their cars are off the road. And because of
- 3:56Speaker 2: the crime Incasfran and the other people who've got you know,
- 4:00Speaker 2: that have damaged or being stolen, and the wait time
- 4:04Speaker 2: to get anything repaired is it's really really long.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I'm so sorry to hear that this has happened to you, guys, Joanne.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I know Golden Globe provide a wonderful service and you've
- 4:16Speaker 1: got really caring nurses and service providers, you know, like
- 4:20Speaker 1: you're doing a phenomenal job, and to be in a
- 4:22Speaker 1: situation where you're no longer able to deliver those services
- 4:27Speaker 1: in Catherine because of the crime is unbelievable for all
- 4:31Speaker 1: the wrong reasons.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Well, No, it's just terrible, and I feel really bad
- 4:35Speaker 2: about it, and really bad for the clients that we
- 4:38Speaker 2: have down there, because a lot of them we've been
- 4:40Speaker 2: seeing for a long time. But I just can't do
- 4:43Speaker 2: it anymore.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Oh, Joanne, I really feel for you. It might like
- 4:48Speaker 1: it must be a really difficult decision to get to
- 4:51Speaker 1: that point.
- 4:52Speaker 2: No, it's heartbreaking, and it's heartbreaking for our staff as well.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah, Oh, Joanne, I'm I'm so sorry to hear that
- 5:01Speaker 1: that has happened to you, guys. I really appreciate your
- 5:05Speaker 1: speaking to us this morning, because I actually think that
- 5:07Speaker 1: it's so important that people understand the impact that this
- 5:12Speaker 1: is having around the community, not just like you've said,
- 5:16Speaker 1: you know, on on you and on on the business
- 5:19Speaker 1: on Golden Glow Nursing, but also your staff and the
- 5:23Speaker 1: broader community that your service.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I mean, I see the you know that we can
- 5:30Speaker 2: see the children, and the children, yeah see them, you
- 5:33Speaker 2: know in the cameras, and I think, you know it's
- 5:35Speaker 2: your grandma or your mom or you know, your family
- 5:39Speaker 2: member that we're seeing, and now we can't.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Oh tell you what I find it. It's it's bloody heartbreaking.
- 5:49Speaker 1: It's really sad that we're in a situation like this
- 5:51Speaker 1: where you know, you're not actually able to continue to
- 5:54Speaker 1: operate because of what's going on. Joanne, thank you so
- 5:58Speaker 1: much for speaking to me this morning. I'm I'm sorry
- 6:00Speaker 1: that I'm going to have to leave it there, but
- 6:02Speaker 1: thank you. Thank you so much for having a chat
- 6:05Speaker 1: with me this morning and letting people know what's going on.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I really appreciate it. Thank you, Joanne, Thank you bye now.
