- 0:11Speaker 1: I got a call from Katie Britt, who's a terrific
- 0:14Speaker 1: person senator from Alabama, and she said, so, we just
- 0:17Speaker 1: had a really negative ruling from a judge in Alabama,
- 0:20Speaker 1: conservative judge that all of these clinics had to be closed.
- 0:24Speaker 1: And she said, and she went into great detail, and
- 0:27Speaker 1: she said, people have devastated over it. And after literally
- 0:30Speaker 1: speaking to her for five minutes, I issued an order,
- 0:35Speaker 1: really an order in a sense, and it was a
- 0:38Speaker 1: statement from the Republican Party that we are all for
- 0:43Speaker 1: IVF and fertilization. Okay, the Alabama Legislature met the following
- 0:48Speaker 1: day and passed it. It was a beautiful thing to see.
- 0:53Speaker 1: And I considered myself to be the father of IVF
- 0:56Speaker 1: in a certain way.
- 0:57Speaker 2: And debate grows as IVF plan meets resists stance lawmakers'
- 1:01Speaker 2: way priorities with looming tax cuts.
- 1:03Speaker 1: And she said, so, we just had a really negative
- 1:06Speaker 1: ruling from a judge in Alabama, conservative judge that all
- 1:09Speaker 1: of these clinics had to be closed. And she said,
- 1:12Speaker 1: and she went into great detail, and she said, people
- 1:15Speaker 1: have devastated over it. And after literally speaking to her
- 1:18Speaker 1: for five minutes, I issued an order, really an order
- 1:23Speaker 1: in a sense. And it was a statement from the
- 1:26Speaker 1: Republican Party that we are all for IVF and fertilization. Okay.
- 1:33Speaker 1: The Alabama Legislature met the following day and passed it.
- 1:37Speaker 1: It was a beautiful thing to see. And I consider
- 1:40Speaker 1: myself to be the father of IVF in a certain way.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I think a lot of people hear that and they
- 1:46Speaker 2: get concerned about Medicare and social security.
- 1:48Speaker 1: And and.
- 1:51Speaker 2: You won't touch Medicare social security.
- 1:53Speaker 1: No, I said to people, We're not touching social security
- 1:56Speaker 1: other than we make it more efficient. But the people
- 1:58Speaker 1: are going to get what they getting. Okay, So the
- 2:00Speaker 1: entitlements we're not raising, and we're not raising ages or
- 2:02Speaker 1: any of that stuff. Off the tap won't do it. Okay.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Let's turn to foreign policy. Should Ukraine prepare for less
- 2:08Speaker 2: aid from the United States after you're.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Swig into office.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Probably sure, you've said you can end the war and
- 2:15Speaker 2: we're in for.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Three hundred and fifty billion and Europe is in for
- 2:19Speaker 1: one hundred billion. Why is in Europe in for the
- 2:22Speaker 1: same as us. The one thing that should happen is
- 2:24Speaker 1: that Europe should come in for they should equalize. And
- 2:29Speaker 1: you know, Biden only had to do it like I
- 2:30Speaker 1: did with it NATO. I said, you got to pay
- 2:33Speaker 1: your bills.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Let me ask you about January sixth in a different capacity. Okay,
- 2:37Speaker 2: I think you're going to want to answer this question.
- 2:39Speaker 2: You promised to pardon those who attack the capital on
- 2:43Speaker 2: January sixth? Are you still vowing to follow through with
- 2:46Speaker 2: that problem?
- 2:47Speaker 1: We're looking at it right now. Most likely, Well, those
- 2:50Speaker 1: people have suffered long and hard, and there may be
- 2:54Speaker 1: some exceptions to it. I have to look. But you know,
- 2:57Speaker 1: if somebody was radical crazy, there might be some people
- 3:02Speaker 1: from Antifa there. I don't know, you know, because those
- 3:04Speaker 1: people seem to be in good shape. Whatever happened to
- 3:07Speaker 1: scaffold man, you know who scaffold man were. He stood
- 3:10Speaker 1: in a scaffold telling everybody to go, and nothing happened
- 3:12Speaker 1: to me.
- 3:13Speaker 2: How do you make sure that these CEOs, that these
- 3:17Speaker 2: companies don't in fact pass on the cost of tariffs
- 3:20Speaker 2: to their consumers.
- 3:21Speaker 1: They cost Americans nothing. They made a great economy for us.
- 3:26Speaker 1: They also solve another problem if we were going to
- 3:30Speaker 1: have problems having to do with wars and having to
- 3:32Speaker 1: do with other things tariffs. I have stopped wars with
- 3:35Speaker 1: tariffs by saying you guys want to fight, it's great,
- 3:39Speaker 1: but both of you are going to pay tariffs to
- 3:40Speaker 1: the United States at one hundred percent, and they have
- 3:45Speaker 1: many purposes tariffs if properly used. I don't say you
- 3:49Speaker 1: use them like a madman. I say properly used. I
- 3:52Speaker 1: want to have better health care for less money, and
- 3:54Speaker 1: there are ways of doing it, I believe, and I
- 3:57Speaker 1: have the smartest people in that world. It's a separate
- 4:00Speaker 1: world unto itself. I have the smartest people in that
- 4:03Speaker 1: world looking at it and trying, and if they come
- 4:07Speaker 1: up with something, I will present it. Now. Maybe you
- 4:10Speaker 1: won't be able to sell it. But if we get
- 4:12Speaker 1: better health care for less money, I believe it's very sales,
- 4:15Speaker 1: just very quickly.
- 4:16Speaker 2: When will we see your fully developed plan, you will.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I don't know that you'll see it at all. I
- 4:21Speaker 1: can only say that we have some of the best
- 4:22Speaker 1: healthcare people. I've always tinkered with it. I think it's
- 4:29Speaker 1: a little hard to explain. Obamacare when I took it over,
- 4:33Speaker 1: was a disaster, and I made it when I use TikTok,
- 4:36Speaker 1: so I can't really you know, I can't totally hate it.
- 4:40Speaker 1: It was very effective, but I will say this. If
- 4:42Speaker 1: you do do that, something else is going to come
- 4:44Speaker 1: along and take its place, and maybe that's not fair
- 4:48Speaker 1: what they're doing. And really what the judge actually said
- 4:51Speaker 1: was that you can't have Chinese companies. In other words,
- 4:54Speaker 1: they have the right to band it if you can
- 4:55Speaker 1: prove that the Chinese companies own it. That's what the
- 4:58Speaker 1: judge asked.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Are you going to try to tech TikTok just very
- 5:01Speaker 2: quick once you're in office.
- 5:02Speaker 1: I'm going to try and make it so that other
- 5:05Speaker 1: companies don't become an even bigger monopoly.
- 5:07Speaker 2: You are now proposing tariffs against the United States three
- 5:11Speaker 2: biggest trading partners. Economists of all stripes say that ultimately
- 5:15Speaker 2: consumers pay the price of terifts.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I don't believe.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Can you guarantee American families won't pay more?
- 5:22Speaker 1: I can't guarantee anything. I can't guarantee tomorrow, but I
- 5:25Speaker 1: can say that if you look at my just pre COVID,
- 5:30Speaker 1: we had the greatest economy in the history of our country,
- 5:33Speaker 1: and I had a lot of tariffs on a lot
- 5:34Speaker 1: of different countries, but in particular China. We took in
- 5:38Speaker 1: hundreds of billions of dollars and we had no inflation.
- 5:43Speaker 1: In fact, when I handed it over, they didn't have
- 5:46Speaker 1: inflation for a year and a half.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Let's talk about mass deportation, one of your big agenda items.
- 5:52Speaker 2: You've talked about prioritizing people who have criminal histories. Correct,
- 5:56Speaker 2: but is it your plan to deport everyone who is
- 5:59Speaker 2: here illegally over the next four years.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Well, I think you have to do it, and it's
- 6:05Speaker 1: a very tough thing to do. It's but you have
- 6:09Speaker 1: to have you know, you have rules, regulations law as
- 6:12Speaker 1: they came in illegally. You know, the people that have
- 6:14Speaker 1: been treated very unfairly are the people that have been
- 6:16Speaker 1: online for ten years to come into the country. And
- 6:19Speaker 1: we're going to make it very easy for people to
- 6:21Speaker 1: come in in terms of they have to pass the test.
- 6:23Speaker 1: They have to be able to tell you what the
- 6:25Speaker 1: statue of liberty is. They have to tell you a
- 6:27Speaker 1: little bit about our country. They have to love our country.
- 6:30Speaker 1: They can't come out of prisons. We don't want people
- 6:32Speaker 1: that are in for murder.
- 6:33Speaker 2: But now that President Biden has pardoned his son Hunter,
- 6:38Speaker 2: are you reconsidering might you pardon yourself?
- 6:42Speaker 1: I didn't do anything wrong. I was given the option
- 6:46Speaker 1: and the lawyers told me very specific law. I don't
- 6:49Speaker 1: have to go into who, but very high up in
- 6:51Speaker 1: the in the administration said, sir, if you pardon yourself,
- 6:57Speaker 1: you're going to look guilty and you did nothing wrong.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Oh I had that option. I couldn't saved myself a
- 7:02Speaker 1: lot of legal fees. But it turned out that I
- 7:05Speaker 1: was right. Look at what's gone on.
- 7:07Speaker 2: We asked you about another aspect of the economy, sir,
- 7:10Speaker 2: the minimum wage. The federal minimum wage has been seven
- 7:13Speaker 2: to twenty five since two thousand and nine. There are
- 7:18Speaker 2: twenty states that still have the federal minimum wage at
- 7:21Speaker 2: seven twenty five. And I actually have a map. Nineteen
- 7:24Speaker 2: of these states actually voted for you, sir, and you
- 7:27Speaker 2: can right it right here. I don't know if you
- 7:30Speaker 2: remember this, but during the debate in twenty twenty, I
- 7:32Speaker 2: asked you if you would raise the minimum wage. You
- 7:35Speaker 2: said you would consider it. And so my question for
- 7:37Speaker 2: you is now that you are going back to the
- 7:40Speaker 2: White House for these nineteen states that voted for you,
- 7:44Speaker 2: are you going to raise the fact it's a very
- 7:46Speaker 2: low number.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I will agree it's a very low number. Let me
- 7:49Speaker 1: give you the downside though, in California that raise it
- 7:52Speaker 1: up to a very high number.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Let me ask you about another group of people, the
- 7:55Speaker 2: estimated four million families in America who have mixed immigration status.
- 7:59Speaker 2: So I'm talking about parents who might be here illegally,
- 8:01Speaker 2: but the kids are here legally.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Your borders are talking about separation.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Well, I mean there are two aspects to this. Your
- 8:09Speaker 2: border Zaar tom Homan said, they can be deported together.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Is that the plan?
- 8:13Speaker 1: That way you keep the well, I don't want to
- 8:16Speaker 1: be breaking up families. So the only way you don't
- 8:17Speaker 1: break up the family is you keep them together, and
- 8:20Speaker 1: you have to send them all back. I've watched him
- 8:22Speaker 1: for twenty five years and he's been an interesting guy.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Let's talk about Elon Musk, another interesting.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Person, very interesting.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Last month, one of your allies said, quote, he's behaving
- 8:33Speaker 2: as if he's a co president. Will you favor Elon
- 8:38Speaker 2: Musk over other leaders of competitor companies like Jeff Bezos,
- 8:41Speaker 2: Mary Bara.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Jeff Bezos called me. We're having dinner. As you know,
- 8:48Speaker 1: Mark Zuckelberg came in. We had a really nice dinner.
- 8:50Speaker 1: He has to have dinner. I had dinner with him.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I'm having dinner with everybody. People like me. Now you
- 8:55Speaker 1: know it's something going on that people. I said, would
- 8:58Speaker 1: you have come to dinner with me if I she
- 9:00Speaker 1: was always being excoriated, and I said to my kids,
- 9:04Speaker 1: don't come in. Don't come in.
- 9:06Speaker 2: It's just you said to them. I said to him, yeah,
- 9:08Speaker 2: but will you miss having them there?
- 9:10Speaker 1: Will it feel? I'll tell you what, I'll miss them?
- 9:14Speaker 1: And they're really competent. But I say, just go have fun,
- 9:19Speaker 1: do your business, do whatever you want to do, but
- 9:21Speaker 1: don't come in. Because no matter what they did, they
- 9:23Speaker 1: did such a great job. Although I have to say
- 9:25Speaker 1: Lara did a phenomenal job as the head of the
- 9:28Speaker 1: Republican National Committee along with Michael.
- 9:31Speaker 2: What can people expect from the first lady in this
- 9:35Speaker 2: second administration? What role will she play? She obviously had
- 9:38Speaker 2: her be Best kid.
- 9:39Speaker 1: She's very liked, loved, and she's very respected, and she's
- 9:44Speaker 1: a very solid person, and she devotes a lot of
- 9:46Speaker 1: time to helping children. You know what she does, and
- 9:50Speaker 1: she's got her be best deal. That is incredible what
- 9:54Speaker 1: she's done. Saw that just prior to COVID coming in,
- 9:58Speaker 1: I had poles that were a high anyone McLachlin and
- 10:01Speaker 1: Fabrizio said George Washington and Abraham Lincoln if they came
- 10:05Speaker 1: back from the dead and they ran as president and
- 10:08Speaker 1: vice president, couldn't beat you, sir. We were doing so well,
- 10:12Speaker 1: and I was getting along with the left. Let's call
- 10:15Speaker 1: it the left wivingice. Okay, we're just going to call it.
- 10:17Speaker 1: But I was getting along with people that you would
- 10:19Speaker 1: consider liberal or progressive as they like to say, at
- 10:23Speaker 1: levels that I never thought it was possible. And you
- 10:25Speaker 1: know what it was success. Success was bringing the country together,
- 10:29Speaker 1: and that's what I want to do.
- 10:31Speaker 2: We'll leave it there unless you'd like to say anything more.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Thank you very much, Thank you very much for the
- 10:36Speaker 2: honor for the first interview you, thank.
- 10:38Speaker 1: You, thanks for watching. Stay updated about breaking news and
- 10:42Speaker 1: top stories on the NBC News app or follow us
- 10:46Speaker 1: on social media.
- 10:47Speaker 2: We talked about this on the campaign trail IVF. You
- 10:50Speaker 2: promised free IVF for all who won it, either through
- 10:53Speaker 2: the government or through mandates with insurance companies. I've been
- 10:58Speaker 2: hearing from Republican senator some of them who say they're
- 11:01Speaker 2: not going to support that plan. How are you going
- 11:04Speaker 2: to get that passed?
- 11:05Speaker 1: Well, we're going to see. We want them to put
- 11:07Speaker 1: ideally the insurance companies to pay for it. The fertilization.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I came out very early for Republican especially, and I
- 11:15Speaker 1: think they were looking for my guidance, my great wisdom, right,
- 11:18Speaker 1: they were looking for it.
- 11:20Speaker 2: You've promised to end birthright citizenship on day one. Is
- 11:23Speaker 2: that still your plan?
- 11:24Speaker 1: Yeah? Absolutely.
- 11:25Speaker 2: The fourteenth Amendment though, says that quote, all persons born
- 11:28Speaker 2: in the United States are citizens. Can you get around
- 11:31Speaker 2: the fourteenth Amendment with.
- 11:32Speaker 1: An executive change or maybe have to go back to
- 11:35Speaker 1: the people. But we have to end it with the
- 11:37Speaker 1: only country that has.
- 11:38Speaker 2: It through an executive action.
- 11:39Speaker 1: You know, we're the only country that has it. You know,
- 11:42Speaker 1: if somebody sets a foot, just a foot, one foot,
- 11:45Speaker 1: you don't need to on our land. Congratulations, you are
- 11:48Speaker 1: now a citizen of the United States of America. Yes,
- 11:51Speaker 1: we're going to end that because it's ridiculous executive action. Well,
- 11:55Speaker 1: if we can through executive action. I was going to
- 11:58Speaker 1: do it through executive action, but then we had a
- 12:00Speaker 1: fixed COVID first. To be honest with you, we have
- 12:03Speaker 1: to end it. It's ridiculous. General, we're the only country
- 12:06Speaker 1: in the world that has it.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Y
