- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one Piece episodes six ninety four through six ninety six. Invincible,
- 0:16Speaker 1: a gruesome army of headcracker dolls risking their lives. Lufy
- 0:21Speaker 1: is the trump card for victory and a tearful reunion
- 0:25Speaker 1: Rebecca and Kiros in these episodes. Well, Lufy and Bartolomeo's
- 0:36Speaker 1: reunion was everything I could have wished for and more.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I know that there's many other things that I should
- 0:41Speaker 1: be more concerned about in these episodes, but frankly, Bartolomeo
- 0:44Speaker 1: had his hopes up so high about what was going
- 0:46Speaker 1: to happen when he saw Lufy, and it had me
- 0:48Speaker 1: concerned that it wasn't going to be as good as
- 0:50Speaker 1: he imagined, and then it wound up being better than
- 0:52Speaker 1: he imagined, And honestly, I just love that for him.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Welcome to spoil Me, Welcome to the show everyone. I
- 1:18Speaker 1: am Natasha. Thank you very much to Florian for commissioning
- 1:22Speaker 1: this episode. And Florian, I don't know if you're hearing
- 1:26Speaker 1: the chat today because it's a late recording so you
- 1:29Speaker 1: maybe can't make it, but I just really appreciate you.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I just want you to know, because you've commissioned like
- 1:35Speaker 1: the last fifteen or so episodes, so that is a
- 1:39Speaker 1: lot of commissions, and I think you might be my MVP.
- 1:44Speaker 1: So these episodes, guys again really like keeping up the
- 1:51Speaker 1: overall vibe. I've just I keep being impressed by this
- 1:55Speaker 1: arc and how invested I still am. We find out
- 2:00Speaker 1: that the head cracker dolls as they are called, which, uh,
- 2:04Speaker 1: it's sort of funny because like at first, when they
- 2:07Speaker 1: said headcracker, I thought that maybe it was like a
- 2:09Speaker 1: translational thing and that it was supposed to be that
- 2:12Speaker 1: they were nutcrackers, and you know the way that nutcrackers
- 2:17Speaker 1: crack nuts is using their head their draw so I
- 2:20Speaker 1: thought maybe it was just sort of that, and then
- 2:23Speaker 1: eventually we actually see them like bite a horse's head,
- 2:27Speaker 1: not off, but like it's bad, and I was like,
- 2:31Speaker 1: oh no, no, they meant that as literally as it sounded,
- 2:34Speaker 1: which is uh, honestly what a bummer. I swear to
- 2:38Speaker 1: God Seraphim would help out with those. But sadly money
- 2:44Speaker 1: is tight right now. It's been out of work with
- 2:46Speaker 1: a messed up ankle. Oh Seraphim, sorry, look I get it.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I don't think money has been tighter for me since
- 2:54Speaker 1: like twenty fifteen, like it's very very bad lately, So
- 3:00Speaker 1: trust me, I get it. Oda loves his pun naming
- 3:04Speaker 1: and Headcracker is right up as Alli.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So this revelation of the fact that Sugar did indeed
- 3:12Speaker 1: make these guys, here's my question to you all. Is
- 3:17Speaker 1: Sugar like able to decide what type of toy she
- 3:22Speaker 1: turns somebody into like because all of these guys are identical,
- 3:27Speaker 1: and in the past, that's not how they have looked.
- 3:30Speaker 1: They have always been very individual and there has been
- 3:35Speaker 1: I had kind of felt like they didn't look like
- 3:36Speaker 1: what they really look like in life. But then once
- 3:39Speaker 1: we get more of a tour of the the overall
- 3:47Speaker 1: turning back to human, I don't know what you would
- 3:49Speaker 1: call that, the untoying. Once we see that, it seems
- 3:54Speaker 1: like there was many more people who would turned into
- 3:57Speaker 1: toys that sort of look like them than how I
- 4:00Speaker 1: was watching.
- 4:02Speaker 3: And.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I just assumed that it was sort of a.
- 4:08Speaker 1: What's the word I want that it was sort of like, uh,
- 4:11Speaker 1: just a natural occurrence that, like her ability, it made
- 4:15Speaker 1: you into a toy, but it didn't really change your
- 4:18Speaker 1: overall appearance in many other ways, and instead it seems
- 4:24Speaker 1: like we're getting that she has a lot more control
- 4:29Speaker 1: over this than I expected, and she I believe, is
- 4:36Speaker 1: able to make them identical and larger than average. So oh, Saraphim.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Saraphim says, she called that little black bears. I'm turning
- 4:46Speaker 1: half the tantatas into just that. You're right, I forgot
- 4:49Speaker 1: about that, And Saraphim says, so she seems she can
- 4:52Speaker 1: decide what to turn them into if she wants, but
- 4:55Speaker 1: might just let it go on automatic. Usually, thank you,
- 4:59Speaker 1: thank you for mine that I forgot all about it.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right.
- 5:02Speaker 1: So we have seen her kind of do a custom
- 5:04Speaker 1: job before, so basically in the past, here's my like,
- 5:11Speaker 1: going on automatic makes total sense.
- 5:14Speaker 2: And also.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I could see maybe feeling like there is a need
- 5:24Speaker 1: when you're making these people these toys for the overall
- 5:30Speaker 1: population to like get along with, because they live in
- 5:34Speaker 1: and amongst the toys. I could see maybe being like,
- 5:38Speaker 1: let me make them sort of small and individual like
- 5:46Speaker 1: cute kind of beings, and that way people aren't threatened
- 5:51Speaker 1: by them, and that now that we're about to like,
- 5:55Speaker 1: you know, these guys are going to go to war
- 5:58Speaker 1: with somebody like Loofy who is such a high level
- 6:01Speaker 1: fighter and also has backup and whatnot, that she would
- 6:05Speaker 1: go a lot harder in her overall design of them.
- 6:13Speaker 1: So okay, I like that. That's interesting. I know I've
- 6:18Speaker 1: talked a lot of shit about her ability being overpowered,
- 6:21Speaker 1: and I have one hundred percent stand by it, But
- 6:25Speaker 1: there have been a couple of things that I have
- 6:27Speaker 1: felt like I wanted to poke a hole in, and
- 6:30Speaker 1: it's been addressed already, and I love when that happens.
- 6:35Speaker 2: So we have.
- 6:38Speaker 1: The executives continuing to fight against some of the people
- 6:42Speaker 1: that are on Loofy's side, and as they are fighting, Rebecca,
- 6:47Speaker 1: Robin and Bartolomeo are continuing their weird sort of like
- 6:51Speaker 1: bouncy flight towards the fourth level because they think that's
- 6:56Speaker 1: where Lufy is and they are intending to give him
- 6:59Speaker 1: the key to Trafalgar's handcuffs. And I guess that it's
- 7:06Speaker 1: kind of it's meant to be that, like they assume
- 7:09Speaker 1: Lufy is there because they don't realize how hung up
- 7:13Speaker 1: he has been by these these monsters essentially, you know,
- 7:19Speaker 1: like they really are so much scarier than any of
- 7:24Speaker 1: the other toys that we have come across, So eventually,
- 7:29Speaker 1: like Robin gets knocked off of this area and she
- 7:34Speaker 1: falls and it turns out that she is now with Loofy,
- 7:39Speaker 1: but unfortunately she has already given the fucking key to Rebecca,
- 7:45Speaker 1: which it's just you guys at this point. Can we
- 7:50Speaker 1: please make a copy of this key somebody.
- 7:54Speaker 2: You know, like, let's eat shit, get a get.
- 7:57Speaker 1: A copy, and then we don't have to depend on
- 7:59Speaker 1: on just this one. I wonder if Bartilomeo could make
- 8:03Speaker 1: a copy of the key out of the stuff that
- 8:05Speaker 1: he makes a barrier with. I kind of get the
- 8:10Speaker 1: impression that, like the barrier has to be a much bigger,
- 8:13Speaker 1: more simple object, but I don't know. And the fantasy
- 8:21Speaker 1: that Bartolomeo has about Loofy and how he's like Lufy
- 8:27Speaker 1: is saying, what is it that he says to him
- 8:31Speaker 1: in this because Bartolomeo is imagining that he's swooping in
- 8:35Speaker 1: and Lufy is standing in the flower field waiting for him,
- 8:40Speaker 1: and then when he finally lands and says sorry, I'm late,
- 8:44Speaker 1: Lufy says, I knew you'd make it, and I can't
- 8:49Speaker 1: because because I believe in my friends, and he starts
- 8:54Speaker 1: crying and saying I'm your friend and then like later
- 8:57Speaker 1: on Lufy says you're the best buddy, which I really
- 9:03Speaker 1: think is better even than what he was imagining. And
- 9:06Speaker 1: it was great. It made me very very happy. Bartelomeo
- 9:09Speaker 1: is so emotional.
- 9:10Speaker 2: It's so funny. I love it so much. When he
- 9:13Speaker 2: means living later he's just like, thank you, thank you
- 9:16Speaker 2: for being bored, and I just fell out. I was
- 9:19Speaker 2: laughing so hard, you guys.
- 9:21Speaker 1: It was just so like it was just so over
- 9:24Speaker 1: the top, you know. So then we have this thing
- 9:31Speaker 1: with the location of the princess. So at the end
- 9:33Speaker 1: of the last episode, we had finally found her. Viola
- 9:36Speaker 1: had tracked her down to this room that had been
- 9:40Speaker 1: in the uh like weird back area of the castle,
- 9:46Speaker 1: and she's talking to the tantata, and Leo, who she's
- 9:51Speaker 1: speaking with, remembers the room. They call it the naughty Room. Now,
- 9:58Speaker 1: this is such a weird thing, you guys, because he
- 10:01Speaker 1: gets very emotional himself here and he's talking about how
- 10:07Speaker 1: Princess Scarlet and us, like when we used to go
- 10:12Speaker 1: visit the palace, Princess Viola and Us would cause mischief
- 10:16Speaker 1: and King Riku would scold her. And we find out
- 10:23Speaker 1: that King Riku would basically like put his daughter in
- 10:27Speaker 1: the dungeon when she acted up, which, uh, honest, you guys,
- 10:39Speaker 1: I just can't decide about this. It's just it's like
- 10:43Speaker 1: if you have a castle and you're gonna put your
- 10:45Speaker 1: kid in time out. I suppose that's not a completely
- 10:49Speaker 1: unreasonable thing to do, especially you know, like if you
- 10:52Speaker 1: are if your kid is somewhere where you know they're
- 10:56Speaker 1: going to be treated a certain way by everybody, and
- 10:58Speaker 1: so if they just asked and looked like pitiful enough,
- 11:02Speaker 1: they might be able to just get their way with
- 11:05Speaker 1: any of the servants, maybe putting them in a place
- 11:07Speaker 1: where they just don't have contact with anybody.
- 11:10Speaker 2: It's one it's.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Reminded me of a sort of the equivalent of being
- 11:12Speaker 1: like I'm taking your phone and your tablet away and
- 11:16Speaker 1: I'm changing the Wi Fi password. Like that's one that
- 11:19Speaker 1: a friend of mine does. She uh, when her kids
- 11:22Speaker 1: act up, she changes her Wi Fi password so that
- 11:25Speaker 1: they can have all of their like little accessories, but
- 11:29Speaker 1: nothing fucking connects anymore, which is I think kind of
- 11:32Speaker 1: genius because it's very easy to overlook some of the
- 11:35Speaker 1: ways that certain things connect with the Internet, like a switch,
- 11:39Speaker 1: even you know, like there's all kinds of different little
- 11:43Speaker 1: things that are now Wi Fi capable that you don't
- 11:46Speaker 1: think about because everything fucking has that built in, so
- 11:50Speaker 1: it's very easy to kind of think, oh, yeah, I've
- 11:53Speaker 1: sufficiently cut them off, and then you realize that they've
- 11:56Speaker 1: been fucking tweeting off of the refrigerator, you know.
- 12:01Speaker 2: So anyway, it just I was sort of caught off
- 12:06Speaker 2: guard by the fact that.
- 12:08Speaker 1: There was a that there's a dungeon that they are
- 12:12Speaker 1: familiar with from like the fun times playing with.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Viola when they were kids.
- 12:18Speaker 1: I just didn't expect the reaction that Leo has when
- 12:24Speaker 1: he thinks about the Naughty Room and he starts like
- 12:28Speaker 1: getting teary eyed. I thought it was gonna be like
- 12:31Speaker 1: a really bad memory, and instead it's sort of a
- 12:35Speaker 1: heartwarming thing where apparently, like Viola broke a plate. Eventually
- 12:40Speaker 1: she uh so she's she's in there. She says that like, oh,
- 12:46Speaker 1: we have each other, so I'm not even sad, but
- 12:49Speaker 1: I am hungry. And then eventually she is joined by
- 12:55Speaker 1: her sister who has brought a basket of apples, and
- 12:58Speaker 1: Scarlett is like one for each of you and just
- 13:01Speaker 1: trying to be supportive, Oh you rascals, and Viola says,
- 13:06Speaker 1: I didn't even break the plate. They broke it and
- 13:09Speaker 1: they said you told us to break it, and she said,
- 13:12Speaker 1: I said you could touch it, you little dummies. And
- 13:16Speaker 1: I think I believe her that Tantana are sort of
- 13:20Speaker 1: it's a weird thing with them because they're not super
- 13:23Speaker 1: smart in certain ways, and then there are other ways
- 13:27Speaker 1: that they really pull it out, and I'm like, oh, no, okay,
- 13:30Speaker 1: I was underestimating them here. So my instinct was like,
- 13:36Speaker 1: did she say you guys can break that plate because
- 13:40Speaker 1: she just kind of wanted to raise some hell and
- 13:42Speaker 1: now she doesn't want to take responsibility. Or was she
- 13:46Speaker 1: just like honestly saying yeah, of course you can touch it.
- 13:49Speaker 1: And then they were like oh okay, and they thought
- 13:51Speaker 1: that meant we can do whatever we want, you know.
- 13:55Speaker 2: So anyway, I just.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Wasn't expected it to become this sort of sweet nostalgia
- 14:03Speaker 1: from Leo. I just really expected it to be sort
- 14:06Speaker 1: of a terrible like I remember that room, it's horrible there,
- 14:10Speaker 1: you know, that kind of thing. And it's very funny
- 14:14Speaker 1: because when we come back to the present, Leo says
- 14:17Speaker 1: something like, sorry, I got I like wandered off in
- 14:20Speaker 1: my head there, you know, something that got sidetracked, And
- 14:22Speaker 1: I was like, if this show apologized every time it
- 14:26Speaker 1: got totally sidetracked, it would very, very very little would
- 14:30Speaker 1: get done, That's all I'm saying. So, okay, this is okay, guys,
- 14:39Speaker 1: this is so horrible. Let's let's just get this over
- 14:42Speaker 1: with talking about fucking Cavendish and his horse because he
- 14:48Speaker 1: like something happens. He's on the ground like uh, he says,
- 14:53Speaker 1: like we've put an end to those wretched things. Let's go,
- 14:56Speaker 1: and he's got his back to it while Loofy, Kira
- 15:00Speaker 1: and Trafalgar are still on the back of his horse,
- 15:03Speaker 1: and then one of them comes up out of the
- 15:05Speaker 1: mist and just fucking clamps its jaws over the horse's
- 15:11Speaker 1: neck and yanks. I really thought he was going to
- 15:14Speaker 1: like pull that horse's head off, and I was about
- 15:17Speaker 1: to freak out a little bit, and poor Farrule, I
- 15:20Speaker 1: think he's likely going to be fine because nobody dies
- 15:22Speaker 1: in this universe.
- 15:23Speaker 2: I think there's been.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Like one or two exceptions to that with animals where
- 15:27Speaker 1: there has been an animal that is actually killed, but
- 15:30Speaker 1: I can't remember if that was like a flashback where
- 15:34Speaker 1: the animal died in the flashback or if it was
- 15:36Speaker 1: like in the present. But I do think that there
- 15:40Speaker 1: was one time where I really was sanguine, thinking they're
- 15:44Speaker 1: going to be fine, and then they weren't, And that
- 15:46Speaker 1: one time has got me a little bit paranoid. But
- 15:50Speaker 1: for the most part, I am going to just trust
- 15:54Speaker 1: that the animals that wind up getting taken out wind
- 15:57Speaker 1: up okay. But it was horrible. I really hated it,
- 16:03Speaker 1: just so you guys like I have to acknowledge it.
- 16:06Speaker 1: And these fucking things like when they get taken apart
- 16:11Speaker 1: and laid out, they just put them fucking selves back
- 16:13Speaker 1: together again, which seems highly unfair to me. I don't
- 16:18Speaker 1: know about you guys, but I just think that's really uncool.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I don't feel like getting to just reassemble yourself after
- 16:25Speaker 1: death feels like it's something that should be allowed. On
- 16:31Speaker 1: the other hand, these dudes who got turned into toys
- 16:37Speaker 1: maybe don't deserve to die because they didn't want to
- 16:40Speaker 1: be toys. On the other other hand, it does seem
- 16:45Speaker 1: like they are working willingly with the do Flamingo family,
- 16:49Speaker 1: so maybe I.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Don't care what happens to them.
- 16:52Speaker 1: But also the do Flamingo family has so much power.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Is it possible that we want to just like give
- 17:01Speaker 1: a pass to some of the people working with them
- 17:03Speaker 1: because they didn't necessarily have that much of a choice.
- 17:07Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 17:08Speaker 2: I really can't decide.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I'd be interested in hearing what you guys have to
- 17:11Speaker 1: say about that. So, okay, I'm gonna jump over to
- 17:17Speaker 1: this scene for a second. There's not that much forward
- 17:21Speaker 1: progress over here with us Up and Keenamon and his friend,
- 17:27Speaker 1: but there is a thing that irritated the fucking shit
- 17:33Speaker 1: ahead of me, you guys. So when we go to
- 17:37Speaker 1: the scene, what is his friend's name? He starts, he's
- 17:42Speaker 1: like yelling because Osop Condreau is his friend.
- 17:46Speaker 2: That's right.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Condureau is getting beat over the head with I think
- 17:50Speaker 1: like Usup's using the quiver for his like slingshot thing
- 17:55Speaker 1: or something like that, and he's saying that, but maybe
- 18:00Speaker 1: I should have just killed myself. That would have been
- 18:02Speaker 1: easier to deal with than this, and us Up says,
- 18:07Speaker 1: stop being such a baby. You're gonna cry about just
- 18:11Speaker 1: getting hit a few times. And I just I swear
- 18:14Speaker 1: to god, you guys, I hate knowing that this was
- 18:19Speaker 1: an issue with the like developing a drawn out version
- 18:25Speaker 1: of the story because I know that this is an
- 18:30Speaker 1: unintended side effect, but Usup has lost so much goodwill
- 18:37Speaker 1: from me after that storyline and almost abandoning everybody that
- 18:41Speaker 1: now he has come back, the fact that he has
- 18:46Speaker 1: the nerve to call somebody else a baby, I was flabbergasted.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I was so disgusted and irritated with him. I was like,
- 18:57Speaker 1: you are calling him a baby. You avoid anything that
- 19:02Speaker 1: would even bring you discomfort, never mind actual like physical
- 19:06Speaker 1: pain and harm. And just the way he's he's like
- 19:12Speaker 1: he's hitting him purely because this guy drew this net
- 19:18Speaker 1: to allow their enemies to climb up, and like the
- 19:23Speaker 1: enemies haven't even actually gotten here yet, nothing has even
- 19:28Speaker 1: happened with that yet. It's just that he is annoyed
- 19:32Speaker 1: that it happened, so he is punishing this man for it,
- 19:37Speaker 1: and I just this scene just got.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Under my skin.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I know that I'm being too hard on him, because,
- 19:45Speaker 1: like I said, after what you guys have told me,
- 19:48Speaker 1: it's very clear that they didn't mean for this to
- 19:50Speaker 1: be what it has become for me in terms of
- 19:54Speaker 1: like a change in Usop's character. But I cannot help
- 20:00Speaker 1: the way that it feels after having seen the way
- 20:04Speaker 1: he behaved earlier.
- 20:06Speaker 2: It just fucking.
- 20:09Speaker 1: This is I just wish that when it came to
- 20:17Speaker 1: drawing things out that they would find a different way
- 20:21Speaker 1: to do it. It just seems like so often they
- 20:25Speaker 1: choose a method that winds up hurting a part of
- 20:29Speaker 1: the story that can't bear that brunt, And you could
- 20:34Speaker 1: use it on something that's a lot less like what's
- 20:38Speaker 1: the word, I want a lot less central to our
- 20:41Speaker 1: group of friends and the straw hats as a crew,
- 20:44Speaker 1: and it would do less damage if it wasn't done well.
- 20:48Speaker 1: But here it just feels to me like they have
- 20:51Speaker 1: done some real harm to how I seeos up and
- 20:54Speaker 1: I hate that. And eventually it comes out that like
- 21:01Speaker 1: Sugar has a she is alive and awake again, and
- 21:07Speaker 1: he starts screaming, and I love that he calls his
- 21:10Speaker 1: like accidental knocking out of Sugar his like facial jack
- 21:16Speaker 1: in the box technique, like he's trying to pretend that
- 21:18Speaker 1: he managed to take her out on purpose, and then
- 21:21Speaker 1: it wasn't simply like a circumstantial you know which that
- 21:25Speaker 1: was funny. I thought that was pretty good. And when
- 21:29Speaker 1: he makes his like bug eyed, frightful face it transitions
- 21:34Speaker 1: directly into her face, making the same expression because they
- 21:41Speaker 1: there's a band with a long nose who has come
- 21:44Speaker 1: up to her and they're trying to feed her now
- 21:47Speaker 1: that she has woken up, and he's got a plate
- 21:49Speaker 1: of sausages, and it's supposed to be that she is
- 21:52Speaker 1: so traumatized after what she saw from Usop's face that
- 21:57Speaker 1: anything that's like long and skinny, like his nose is
- 22:00Speaker 1: now triggering to her and she can't handle it. Which
- 22:04Speaker 1: is kind of a fun bit actually, Like if if
- 22:07Speaker 1: it turns out that this like this kind of trauma
- 22:12Speaker 1: latches on and he is able to use his own
- 22:16Speaker 1: face as a kind of weapon, I wouldn't be mad
- 22:21Speaker 1: at that. That might go some way toward me feeling
- 22:24Speaker 1: better about this whole thing. But uh yeah, So she
- 22:28Speaker 1: starts screaming at these guys and it's it's sort of,
- 22:31Speaker 1: I guess, like a flashback because we see her here
- 22:36Speaker 1: reacting to these dudes and turning them into these headcrackers
- 22:41Speaker 1: because she wants them out of her face. Like at
- 22:44Speaker 1: one point she says, like, why don't you just go away?
- 22:46Speaker 1: Or better yet, drop dead? She says drop dead very
- 22:51Speaker 1: often frequently. It's it's kind of funny. I have to admit,
- 22:58Speaker 1: like I'm not mad at it. So this I'm interested
- 23:03Speaker 1: to see how this develops. But when we go back
- 23:07Speaker 1: to Oosup, his concern is that she might get her
- 23:15Speaker 1: hands on Loofy. And if she does, what is that
- 23:19Speaker 1: going to mean? Because when I forgot Robin, it was
- 23:27Speaker 1: really messed up, like, you know, all of her it
- 23:30Speaker 1: is just everything about her disappeared, and it was like
- 23:33Speaker 1: she had never even existed. So that makes a lot
- 23:37Speaker 1: of sense. Like Lufy is their lynchpin and the reason
- 23:41Speaker 1: why they're doing this in.
- 23:43Speaker 2: A lot of ways.
- 23:44Speaker 1: And I am really curious if something happened and they
- 23:48Speaker 1: all forgot Loufy, how would they behave you know, like
- 23:54Speaker 1: I like to think that they would feel a moral
- 23:57Speaker 1: obligation to continue fighting because Dofl Mingo was obviously a
- 24:01Speaker 1: bad man, But a part of me is sort.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Of like if they.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Did wind up forgetting Loofy, would they remember that Dofo
- 24:13Speaker 1: Mingo is a bad man? Would that even like be
- 24:15Speaker 1: a factor? You know, I don't know how much information
- 24:22Speaker 1: they retain because the way that this like memory spell
- 24:29Speaker 1: ability and technique, I guess the way that it works
- 24:34Speaker 1: it's really not delved into very much by the show
- 24:38Speaker 1: for reasons that I think are obvious. It's that we
- 24:42Speaker 1: don't like if you really get too specific about what
- 24:47Speaker 1: people remember and don't remember, it makes everything much much
- 24:51Speaker 1: harder to like set rules around, and it makes it
- 24:54Speaker 1: so that you don't have as much freedom in parts
- 24:57Speaker 1: of the way that you tell the story. So I
- 24:59Speaker 1: can I understand why maybe Oda wouldn't want to like
- 25:03Speaker 1: back himself into a corner by really outlining the rules
- 25:07Speaker 1: and how all of this works. But I also can't
- 25:11Speaker 1: help but kind of call bullshit on it, because the
- 25:13Speaker 1: whole memory thing is just so convoluted anyway, and there
- 25:16Speaker 1: are just so many ways in which a person could
- 25:19Speaker 1: still be, like clues of their existence would still be
- 25:23Speaker 1: around that nobody would be able to explain that haven't
- 25:27Speaker 1: been touched on at all, you know, sorry, oh my
- 25:33Speaker 1: Goshu and saraphim Is in the chat. On the other hand,
- 25:37Speaker 1: Nami has totally beaten him worse than that at some
- 25:39Speaker 1: point when him and Lufy pissed her off. I don't
- 25:44Speaker 1: know why that's on the other hand, but because like, yeah,
- 25:52Speaker 1: but honestly, most of the time, when Namy beats the
- 25:54Speaker 1: hell out of him and loufy I feel like they
- 25:56Speaker 1: both deserve it because they are not helpful, says given
- 26:00Speaker 1: most of what they know about Dophy came from the
- 26:02Speaker 1: Tantatas and Kiros I doubt they'd forget that, okay, So
- 26:06Speaker 1: they might keep fighting anyway.
- 26:08Speaker 2: It might be fine.
- 26:12Speaker 1: So at this point, Ousap is going to take aim
- 26:16Speaker 1: at the palace because he wants to hit Sugar with
- 26:22Speaker 1: his his sling shot from the outside, and he's like,
- 26:27Speaker 1: I'm going to need absolutely perfect precision on this shot,
- 26:32Speaker 1: So Violet, I need you to find out exactly where
- 26:37Speaker 1: she is with your clairvoyance and direct me on where
- 26:41Speaker 1: to shoot. And he has it all like positioned on
- 26:46Speaker 1: the edge of this like wall that they're leaning on.
- 26:50Speaker 1: But then he turns around and he sees Conjureau's bird,
- 26:55Speaker 1: who has passed out, and he gets this expression on
- 26:58Speaker 1: his face and on I was very much like, don't
- 27:03Speaker 1: you dare involve this bird. It is exhausted, stop it, you.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Know, I very much was just like, can we.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Let this bird rest, please give it a second for
- 27:19Speaker 1: Christ's sake. Oh my god, I forgot about baby five
- 27:25Speaker 1: and she is uh fighting this dude who says, give
- 27:29Speaker 1: me your worst, whatever you've got, I'll accept it with
- 27:32Speaker 1: open arms. And she is about to turn herself into
- 27:36Speaker 1: a bladed disc and then she stops and hovers in
- 27:42Speaker 1: mid air and she just stares at this guy and
- 27:45Speaker 1: gets this expression and goes, did you say that you
- 27:50Speaker 1: would accept me with open arms? And I had forgotten
- 27:55Speaker 1: about this aspect of her personality and how everybody like
- 27:59Speaker 1: she'll act. Iidentally see them as being these wonderful men
- 28:02Speaker 1: with no real provocation, and I really I still enjoy
- 28:07Speaker 1: this greatly. So that was a fun development. Okay, We've
- 28:14Speaker 1: got the guy with a drill head and he's fighting
- 28:16Speaker 1: against loud g they're arguing over who's the oldest, which
- 28:21Speaker 1: is a weird thing. We've got Gladyus who is coming
- 28:25Speaker 1: after our guys in mid air, and this is what
- 28:27Speaker 1: eventually leads to both Robin and Bartolameo getting knocked out
- 28:34Speaker 1: of the sky. She uses her ability to make wings
- 28:39Speaker 1: and she I think Bartolomeo just crashes, but she manages
- 28:44Speaker 1: to land a little bit more gracefully, and Rebecca goes
- 28:48Speaker 1: on without them to the flower field.
- 28:51Speaker 2: And it was sort of.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Funny to me because, like Robin is plummeting, but she
- 28:57Speaker 1: still manages to kind of like talk to Rebecca on
- 29:00Speaker 1: the way down and just yelling, it's up to you,
- 29:03Speaker 1: now take the key to law I can take care
- 29:06Speaker 1: of the rest. And I was just like, she should
- 29:10Speaker 1: not be able to like have time to shit chat,
- 29:13Speaker 1: but whatever, it's fine. So eventually we get Bartelomeo landing
- 29:19Speaker 1: in and amongst Loofy and his buds fighting against these things,
- 29:24Speaker 1: and Robin shares that Rebecca is up there at the
- 29:28Speaker 1: flower field, and Kiros of course, is very agitated to
- 29:32Speaker 1: hear this because she's all by herself in the midst.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Of all of this.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Now I'm going to kind of jump ahead on the
- 29:40Speaker 1: whole Rebecca thing, because I mean, I think you guys
- 29:43Speaker 1: know how I'm gonna feel about this. I want, I
- 29:52Speaker 1: wanted so much for her to have like any sort
- 29:57Speaker 1: of moment, and it still has an happened, And it's
- 30:01Speaker 1: just I can't seem to let go of this hope.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Even as I get disappointed repeatedly, it's still there and
- 30:12Speaker 1: I feel like a dumbass, but I also am still
- 30:18Speaker 1: hoping a little bit. So she goes up to this
- 30:22Speaker 1: flower field, and this is really the first part of
- 30:26Speaker 1: this arc so far that I have really been like, Okay,
- 30:33Speaker 1: can we please move this the fuck along? Because she
- 30:37Speaker 1: gets up there and it's this long, drawn out pause
- 30:43Speaker 1: after she arrives of her looking around the flower field.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Anybody with a lick of sense is gonna know somebody
- 30:50Speaker 1: is here hidden and everything is about to go very
- 30:53Speaker 1: badly wrong. But like, I don't have a problem with
- 30:57Speaker 1: knowing that we're getting this trope. I have a problem
- 31:00Speaker 1: with taking so long to reveal it. It's just ages
- 31:05Speaker 1: before she finally like sees this guy and he pops out,
- 31:09Speaker 1: and I was already starting to like my mind was wandering.
- 31:13Speaker 2: I'm picking up my phone.
- 31:15Speaker 1: He pops out and it's Diamante, And of course he
- 31:20Speaker 1: has to say some shit about how like I'm so
- 31:23Speaker 1: glad that you're here all by yourself.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Because I get to continue.
- 31:28Speaker 1: To torment you. And it's so like played honestly, Like
- 31:34Speaker 1: it's just the way that he comes at her is
- 31:38Speaker 1: so utterly by the numbers and just being like because
- 31:44Speaker 1: I can continue to torment her. When I tell you,
- 31:47Speaker 1: guys that it's drawn out, let me let me give
- 31:49Speaker 1: you a little moment here. He says, I didn't think
- 31:55Speaker 1: you'd make.
- 31:55Speaker 3: It be be be be be be Rebecca.
- 32:06Speaker 1: That is how long it takes for him to finish
- 32:09Speaker 1: the fucking sentence and say her name. Why did we
- 32:13Speaker 1: need that long pause at all? Like we know what
- 32:17Speaker 1: her name is, and he has already announced himself when
- 32:21Speaker 1: we know.
- 32:21Speaker 2: He's a bad guy.
- 32:23Speaker 1: All of the tension is in that part, so him
- 32:27Speaker 1: like taking forever to say her name, it just feels
- 32:29Speaker 1: like the most quittless garbage. And then, of course, for
- 32:36Speaker 1: a moment, I get filled with this like false hope
- 32:40Speaker 1: that she's gonna get to go up against the guy
- 32:43Speaker 1: who killed her mother. Finally it's gonna be the confrontation
- 32:47Speaker 1: that I have been I don't want to say that
- 32:49Speaker 1: I've been waiting for, because honestly, I have mostly checked
- 32:52Speaker 1: out of what's going on with her, so I haven't
- 32:54Speaker 1: really cared, but I have been just like, all right,
- 32:59Speaker 1: if we're gonna do something with her, let's get it going.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Maybe she's gonna finally get to fight this guy. No, No,
- 33:05Speaker 1: it's fucking Kiros. He is going to swoop in and
- 33:08Speaker 1: do the fighting because he's a fighter, and it's just
- 33:12Speaker 1: so annoying. It's just so boring. Kiros I like, I
- 33:18Speaker 1: have really like been fine with the storyline involving him
- 33:23Speaker 1: so far. I want to be clear that I'm not
- 33:26Speaker 1: here like, oh, who gives a shit about him? As
- 33:29Speaker 1: a toy soldier, he was particularly fun. His like one
- 33:33Speaker 1: legged thing is it feels to me kind of tacked on. Honestly,
- 33:38Speaker 1: it feels like we just wanted to do something dramatic
- 33:40Speaker 1: with him, but we never really wanted to cope with
- 33:42Speaker 1: what that really means because it hasn't slowed his ass
- 33:45Speaker 1: down one little bit. So for me, it just feels
- 33:50Speaker 1: like this guy is superhuman in a way that is uninteresting.
- 33:57Speaker 1: If you have one leg and you have to deal
- 33:59Speaker 1: with that as a change because of how you fight,
- 34:03Speaker 1: I want to see how you cope with that, And
- 34:04Speaker 1: ultimately it seems to have done absolutely nothing to change
- 34:08Speaker 1: the way that he moves through the world, so, you know,
- 34:12Speaker 1: and also just the fact that like this dude is
- 34:15Speaker 1: just standing over her, like just trying to menace her,
- 34:22Speaker 1: and he doesn't take a swipe, He doesn't really like
- 34:25Speaker 1: do almost anything before Kiros steps in. So Rebecca, it
- 34:31Speaker 1: just feels like she's a prop you know. It's I
- 34:36Speaker 1: know that I'm supposed to feel like Kiros is gonna
- 34:39Speaker 1: defend his daughter who he hasn't seen, and oh, they're reunited,
- 34:43Speaker 1: and what a moment. I just don't feel like that
- 34:46Speaker 1: because the whole atmosphere with the two of them, it's
- 34:51Speaker 1: like one of them actually has some agency and the
- 34:55Speaker 1: other one is literal wallpaper. So oh, this whole thing
- 35:01Speaker 1: is a complete bust for me, and I really couldn't
- 35:04Speaker 1: give a shit, And I feel bad that I feel
- 35:06Speaker 1: that way, but you know, this arc has been very solid.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I feel like we could do a lot worse if
- 35:12Speaker 1: we were going to have a part of it that
- 35:15Speaker 1: I don't care about. There have been more than one
- 35:19Speaker 1: in the past, and this is pretty solid overall when
- 35:27Speaker 1: you step back and look at it big picture style,
- 35:29Speaker 1: you know.
- 35:32Speaker 2: So, oh my god.
- 35:34Speaker 1: He jumping back to Bartolomeo and he uses a barrier
- 35:42Speaker 1: to protect from these balls that like Lufy is about
- 35:45Speaker 1: to try and bounce back, and he says it's because
- 35:47Speaker 1: they were going to explode.
- 35:48Speaker 2: They would have exploded.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Before you could even hit them, so he wants to
- 35:53Speaker 1: like keep Lufy from getting hurt. And when he does this,
- 35:57Speaker 1: Lufy says that was cool, and Bartolomeo gets all red
- 36:00Speaker 1: in the face and just says it was nothing. You're
- 36:04Speaker 1: too kind and it's very adorable. And then Lufy does
- 36:10Speaker 1: gum gum jet whip and Bartolomeo, I got front seats
- 36:16Speaker 1: to a jet whip straight to that thing's face.
- 36:19Speaker 2: What a day. I just can't get enough of it,
- 36:25Speaker 2: you guys.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Law is off to the side being like, can we
- 36:28Speaker 1: fucking speed this up please, and Bartolomeo was like, hey,
- 36:31Speaker 1: how about you shut the fuck up. He's so irritated
- 36:34Speaker 1: with Law, it's extremely funny. So this is when Bartolomeo
- 36:38Speaker 1: is like, oh, so you need to get up to
- 36:40Speaker 1: that level here, and he makes a whole set of
- 36:46Speaker 1: stairs using this barrier, which his barrier looks like kind
- 36:52Speaker 1: of a smoked glass. That barrier goes so hard. I
- 37:00Speaker 1: cannot believe how high that's got to be, like at
- 37:05Speaker 1: least one hundred yards, Like more right, it's huge, this staircase.
- 37:13Speaker 1: And this is when Luf says, thanks Pal, you're the best,
- 37:19Speaker 1: and Bartolomeo literally the way that this is animated when
- 37:23Speaker 1: he says you're the best. We have a real quick
- 37:25Speaker 1: cut between a First, his eyes go to pinpricks like
- 37:32Speaker 1: he just stared into the sun. Then a like smeared
- 37:38Speaker 1: sort of electric colored background with his hair standing on end,
- 37:42Speaker 1: and then he's standing on the top of like a
- 37:45Speaker 1: peak with lightning flashing in the background. And then it's
- 37:49Speaker 1: sort of like this simplified cartoon drawing, almost like a
- 37:53Speaker 1: Picasso cartoon, with his like eyes streaming, and then him
- 37:58Speaker 1: smeared in a way that's supposed to indicate like a
- 38:03Speaker 1: speed of movement, and then it's like dark and there's
- 38:08Speaker 1: just the slow growth of this golden light, and then
- 38:11Speaker 1: eventually it backs up and it's Bartolomeo watching the sunrise
- 38:15Speaker 1: and his eyes are like white, his knees are shaking,
- 38:21Speaker 1: his mouth is hanging open, and he just keeps hearing
- 38:24Speaker 1: Lufy in his head over and over again, saying the best,
- 38:28Speaker 1: the best, the best, And this is when he says, no,
- 38:31Speaker 1: you're the best, and thank you, thank you for being born.
- 38:37Speaker 1: So Lufy picks Traffy up and he begins to head
- 38:41Speaker 1: up that staircase and Bartolomeo is like he's on the
- 38:46Speaker 1: ground and it's.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Just him and.
- 38:51Speaker 1: What is his face? Oh my god, I keep wanting
- 38:54Speaker 1: to say cabbage, because that's what Lufy keeps saying. Cavendish
- 38:58Speaker 1: and his y if like. Eventually, when they fire something else,
- 39:04Speaker 1: he wands up sort of like taking the hit with
- 39:07Speaker 1: his defense but not using a barrier, and Cavendish is like, dude,
- 39:12Speaker 1: why didn't you just use a barrier, you idiot? And
- 39:16Speaker 1: he has to explain, I can only make so much barrier,
- 39:21Speaker 1: and I used it all up making that staircase, so
- 39:25Speaker 1: now I got to figure out a different way. And
- 39:28Speaker 1: he's very quick to be like and I wouldn't have
- 39:30Speaker 1: it any other way. I made that form, mister lufy.
- 39:32Speaker 1: He's the only one that matters. So I'm just you know,
- 39:36Speaker 1: I'm just doing my part. And I really liked Robin
- 39:40Speaker 1: once again being like I understand how you feel, dude,
- 39:42Speaker 1: and I am one hundred percent there with you, like
- 39:45Speaker 1: he is the most important part of this. We briefly
- 39:49Speaker 1: go back over to uh Sabo and his fight with
- 39:55Speaker 1: Oh my god, what's his name? I keep wanting to
- 39:58Speaker 1: say Fandango. I don't know where I'm getting that from,
- 40:02Speaker 1: but uh. He eventually stops and is like, hold on,
- 40:06Speaker 1: what are you trying to do here? Because I know
- 40:09Speaker 1: you're stronger than this, and it really seems like you're
- 40:11Speaker 1: pulling your punches. Fujiitura that's his name, and Fujitura says,
- 40:17Speaker 1: you're quite the odd one. Weren't you trying.
- 40:20Speaker 2: To stall us? It doesn't seem like you.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Should be complaining, And Sabo kind of pushes it a
- 40:27Speaker 1: little bit, calls him old man, and he's like, well, yeah,
- 40:31Speaker 1: I am an old man and I'm fucking blind, so
- 40:34Speaker 1: I'll be honest. I'm just like kind of trying to
- 40:37Speaker 1: take it easy a little bit. And he says, I
- 40:44Speaker 1: guess you didn't get where you got by being kind
- 40:48Speaker 1: to the elderly, which.
- 40:50Speaker 2: Is a hell of a like.
- 40:52Speaker 1: I don't know if he's really trying to manipulate him
- 40:54Speaker 1: or if that's just a sort of side effect to
- 40:56Speaker 1: the banter, but it felt like he was trying to
- 40:59Speaker 1: manipulate him, and I couldn't help but be like, would
- 41:02Speaker 1: that work? Is Sabo like soft hearted enough? And then
- 41:07Speaker 1: it goes to Sabo with just the flames erupting, and
- 41:09Speaker 1: I was like, okay, no, it won't work. He doesn't
- 41:13Speaker 1: seem to have any like softness in him towards this
- 41:19Speaker 1: guy at all. So then he does gravity blade and
- 41:25Speaker 1: he slams the blade of his sword into the ground.
- 41:30Speaker 1: It creates all of these fissures around them, and then
- 41:34Speaker 1: he yells raging tiger, and.
- 41:37Speaker 2: He sends this like.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Wind does not feel like an adequate word. It's like
- 41:44Speaker 1: a wave of force, like a bullet train coming at him,
- 41:50Speaker 1: and it doesn't really do anything. Like Sabo is just
- 41:56Speaker 1: standing there holding his hat in place, but this whole
- 42:00Speaker 1: body seems to be utterly unaffected by it, and it
- 42:03Speaker 1: definitely had a moment of like is this it or
- 42:08Speaker 1: is there supposed to be some other effect that's like,
- 42:11Speaker 1: you know, or like what is going on? And not
- 42:17Speaker 1: to mention the fact the Fuji tourist seems like so
- 42:21Speaker 1: unbothered by the buildings around him that he is crushing
- 42:26Speaker 1: Like after that whole thing with the meteor, I really
- 42:30Speaker 1: kind of felt like Sabo, I don't want you to
- 42:32Speaker 1: ask him to let it all out. I feel like
- 42:35Speaker 1: you guys should be holding back because you're surrounded by
- 42:38Speaker 1: people who haven't gotten to like completely vacate this area,
- 42:44Speaker 1: and what you're doing is affecting all of the people
- 42:47Speaker 1: around you. Instead, this fight just gets bigger and bigger
- 42:52Speaker 1: until even like all of the marines around them are
- 42:55Speaker 1: getting like engulfed in flames and they have to run
- 42:58Speaker 1: for their lives. All I'm saying is I just don't
- 43:04Speaker 1: think much of people who are like, they have this
- 43:11Speaker 1: fight that is between the two of them, and they
- 43:13Speaker 1: are willing to allow all of these other like bystanders
- 43:19Speaker 1: to be collateral damage. And I don't like the fact
- 43:22Speaker 1: that Sabo is encouraging Fujiitor to go harder after already
- 43:27Speaker 1: kind of like berating him a few episodes ago for
- 43:30Speaker 1: being for going overboard with the meteor thing. If you
- 43:36Speaker 1: really feel like that was too much, then maybe you
- 43:39Speaker 1: guys should just, like, I don't know, take this somewhere else,
- 43:42Speaker 1: maybe go down to the beach and not in the
- 43:44Speaker 1: center of the city, or it just.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Like dial it back a little bit.
- 43:51Speaker 1: I don't know, But I just this whole time, I
- 43:55Speaker 1: think I'm meant to feel impressed with the level upon
- 44:00Speaker 1: which they are fighting, and I just found myself really
- 44:03Speaker 1: distracted by Like, this isn't responsible of any of you.
- 44:07Speaker 2: I don't.
- 44:09Speaker 1: I don't like this part of the fight, and I
- 44:11Speaker 1: don't I wanted to like both of them more, and
- 44:15Speaker 1: this is just bothering me at this point. So all right,
- 44:20Speaker 1: let's see the end of the episode. Oh right, Bartolomeo
- 44:26Speaker 1: and his whole thing lufy climbing the stairs and Robin
- 44:32Speaker 1: using her floor power to grip up all of these
- 44:38Speaker 1: these headcracker toys and it's he she like pushes them
- 44:46Speaker 1: out of the way, and what's his face? Is here?
- 44:50Speaker 1: Gladius and he is such a weird little character. I
- 44:57Speaker 1: enjoy him, like just for his design a lot. But uh,
- 45:03Speaker 1: he notices that Rebecca isn't here and realizes that she
- 45:06Speaker 1: got away, and he's like, oh well whatever, She's just
- 45:09Speaker 1: one person. She's not even going to be able to
- 45:11Speaker 1: do anything. And it's so unfortunate that it seems like
- 45:15Speaker 1: he's precisely right pretty much. I mean, she sure doesn't.
- 45:21Speaker 1: So the third of these episodes a tearful Reunion. I've
- 45:29Speaker 1: pretty much talked about Rebecca and her father already and
- 45:33Speaker 1: like how I'm feeling about the two of them. But it's,
- 45:37Speaker 1: like I said, Diamante, just like he comes at her
- 45:40Speaker 1: like for a split second, and there's just this one
- 45:43Speaker 1: little moment and her defending. There's no like fighting back
- 45:49Speaker 1: in her. It just feels like she's trying to absorb
- 45:52Speaker 1: his blows without getting hurt, and like she hasn't even
- 45:56Speaker 1: been knocked down, but she's still when the camera is
- 46:00Speaker 1: lifted and it's supposed to be that we're seeing from
- 46:02Speaker 1: her perspective, it's blurred, like she has been so affected
- 46:10Speaker 1: by the blows that it's messing with her vision, which
- 46:16Speaker 1: I really don't think much of, to be perfectly honest,
- 46:20Speaker 1: you know. So, And also she has like dropped the
- 46:27Speaker 1: key off to the side, and that is just like
- 46:31Speaker 1: in the bushes.
- 46:33Speaker 2: So this is when Diamante, like the two of them.
- 46:37Speaker 1: We have like a cutaway of her as a little girl,
- 46:42Speaker 1: and Diamante is laughing and saying, like, we had some
- 46:47Speaker 1: really good moments in the Colosseum, didn't we. And he
- 46:52Speaker 1: starts laughing because Rebecca literally turns to flee. And look,
- 47:00Speaker 1: far be it from me to criticize somebody for running
- 47:05Speaker 1: away from an enemy they know.
- 47:07Speaker 2: They can't beat.
- 47:08Speaker 1: I really honestly don't have a problem with that in
- 47:12Speaker 1: a vacuum. But it's because it's Rebecca. She's the only
- 47:18Speaker 1: one that we have seen literally run away other than Oossop,
- 47:23Speaker 1: And the whole thing was supposed to be how shameful
- 47:25Speaker 1: that was for him, and eventually he is convinced.
- 47:28Speaker 2: To come back.
- 47:29Speaker 1: So her fleeing just feels really, really different, and I
- 47:35Speaker 1: was so fucking irritated by it.
- 47:38Speaker 2: It was just it sucked. So this is when he
- 47:43Speaker 2: uses his.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Like weird bending of his blade power and he slices
- 47:49Speaker 1: through the air her like you see her yell and
- 47:53Speaker 1: there's blood and she goes down, but you don't really
- 47:55Speaker 1: actually see an injury. I'm not supposed I'm not sure
- 47:58Speaker 1: if it's supposed to have been like he got her
- 48:00Speaker 1: on her back or what. And of course he is
- 48:04Speaker 1: like standing over her and she's crying, and then all
- 48:08Speaker 1: of a sudden, here is Kiros and he says, you've
- 48:11Speaker 1: taken enough from me, and he throws this guy like
- 48:15Speaker 1: a hundred yards with his sword, and Rebecca has all
- 48:20Speaker 1: of her flashbacks realizing that this is her father, and
- 48:24Speaker 1: he squares up with Diamante. I'm not sure, Like, I
- 48:30Speaker 1: guess he saw Diamante kill his wife because he was
- 48:32Speaker 1: like a toy at that point and he was standing
- 48:35Speaker 1: there when it happened. So like, Rebecca hasn't been aware
- 48:39Speaker 1: who was responsible for her mom's death, but he knew
- 48:42Speaker 1: the whole time.
- 48:43Speaker 2: I guess.
- 48:45Speaker 1: I'm kind of curious why he never told her, but
- 48:48Speaker 1: I guess he just figured, like, what's the point, and
- 48:53Speaker 1: finally Mofy is getting up to this same level and
- 48:58Speaker 1: eventually is able to unlock Trafalgar's uh cuffs. It's just
- 49:06Speaker 1: taken so long for Trafalgar to be able to fight,
- 49:09Speaker 1: and I guess it's sort of for the best, because,
- 49:11Speaker 1: like we've been told about how Trafalgar needs time to
- 49:15Speaker 1: like get his energy back up after using a lot
- 49:19Speaker 1: of his abilities, so he's had a good long rest
- 49:23Speaker 1: and hopefully his battery is on full right now. And
- 49:27Speaker 1: uh Diamante starts like screaming at Loofy, and Kiros has
- 49:39Speaker 1: to tell both of them, like, I am going to
- 49:41Speaker 1: take care of this fucking guy, so the kill the
- 49:45Speaker 1: do flamingo in my stead, I would rather handle the
- 49:49Speaker 1: guy who killed my wife. And they're just like, all right,
- 49:53Speaker 1: let's get out of here. And I have to say
- 49:58Speaker 1: that as Rebecca is watching Lufy run away and she
- 50:06Speaker 1: yells out Lucy, I definitely had a moment of like, girl,
- 50:11Speaker 1: you know that is not his fucking name, by now,
- 50:13Speaker 1: why do you keep calling him that? Everybody around you
- 50:17Speaker 1: has been like I know that's how you first met him,
- 50:20Speaker 1: but at this point I need you to just like
- 50:25Speaker 1: get up to speed with everybody else. Rebecca just feels
- 50:28Speaker 1: like she is ugh. She has streets behind that's a
- 50:33Speaker 1: community reference for anybody who doesn't understand. But yeah, she
- 50:37Speaker 1: calls him Lucy and is like, are you sure you
- 50:40Speaker 1: can kill do Flamingo? And he turns around and I
- 50:43Speaker 1: was laughing so hard because he just says, I'm not Lucy,
- 50:48Speaker 1: and I was like, oh my god, I was so annoyed.
- 50:50Speaker 1: And then he just addressed it right away, Thank you
- 50:53Speaker 1: appreciate it, and he says, I'm Lufy.
- 50:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna be King of the.
- 50:57Speaker 1: Pirates one day, so there's no we don't need to worry,
- 51:01Speaker 1: and he takes off and leaves her there. I swear
- 51:06Speaker 1: to god, Rebecca is the most useless character of this
- 51:08Speaker 1: whole show.
- 51:09Speaker 2: I think I like.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Very very little about this arc would be different if
- 51:18Speaker 1: she didn't exist. You could really work it so that
- 51:24Speaker 1: Kiros and his whole thing still happened, but that she
- 51:28Speaker 1: didn't survive, and it wouldn't matter because she has just
- 51:31Speaker 1: been so nothing. So anyway, Law uses his dope ass
- 51:40Speaker 1: Shamble's power to get him and Loofy right in front
- 51:43Speaker 1: of the palace, and Diamante just winds up slicing a
- 51:47Speaker 1: barrel in half instead of Law. And then we have
- 51:51Speaker 1: this very funny moment when they're like in the courtyard
- 51:54Speaker 1: of the palace and they're like him and Lufy are
- 51:58Speaker 1: arguing about how they're going to handle things now, and
- 52:04Speaker 1: Law is like, well, doing this like shambles thing takes
- 52:10Speaker 1: a toll on my power. Between that what is it
- 52:14Speaker 1: that he says? Between them and the sea prism stone
- 52:16Speaker 1: cuffs and you carrying my ass all the way over here,
- 52:20Speaker 1: I can served enough strength to pull it off. And
- 52:25Speaker 1: then he does. He touches his abdomen and he says
- 52:29Speaker 1: scalpel and he pulls out a bullet that is still
- 52:35Speaker 1: in his torso there's three of them, and he says, like,
- 52:43Speaker 1: trusto flamingo, basically to have used real bullets, lead bullets,
- 52:50Speaker 1: twisted jerk. What is it about lead? Because like, I
- 52:57Speaker 1: know that lead is actually poisonous, but I don't really
- 53:00Speaker 1: feel like that's what he meant. Here was he trying
- 53:06Speaker 1: to say, Like, is that is that what he meant?
- 53:12Speaker 1: I just was I was sort of confused here because
- 53:14Speaker 1: it just felt like he was pointing something out that
- 53:18Speaker 1: I was missing. So I don't know, but it's just
- 53:24Speaker 1: any bullets would be bad. I would think, I don't know,
- 53:30Speaker 1: so Loofy is like, all right, let's head in and
- 53:33Speaker 1: deliver an ass kicking, and Loss stops it and says,
- 53:36Speaker 1: do Flamingo isn't just someone you can pummel with sheer
- 53:39Speaker 1: will alone. You need to keep a level head. And
- 53:43Speaker 1: I was cracking up here because I the two of
- 53:49Speaker 1: them are just such different operators, and I should have
- 53:52Speaker 1: seen it coming that they would reach a point where
- 53:54Speaker 1: they're arguing and they miss the fact that they have
- 53:59Speaker 1: been spotted. So at one point, like do Flamingo, Trafalgar
- 54:05Speaker 1: is saying, like, we need to get this done and
- 54:08Speaker 1: be really careful about it. And then there's some fucking
- 54:10Speaker 1: guy who's just watching them and reporting to Sugar. I
- 54:14Speaker 1: have eyes on Lufy and Trafalgar law and Sugar says
- 54:19Speaker 1: Roger that, and we see her with her bowl of
- 54:22Speaker 1: grapes walking down the hall heading out to meet them, and.
- 54:26Speaker 2: It is she gets this monologue. You guys.
- 54:30Speaker 1: First of all, I don't feel like I have given
- 54:33Speaker 1: enough weight to how good the voice actress who is
- 54:38Speaker 1: doing Sugar's voice is, but she is really unnerving because
- 54:43Speaker 1: she makes her voice sound super young, so when uh,
- 54:50Speaker 1: when Sugar is like making threats, she just sounds so
- 54:55Speaker 1: creepy because she sounds like this whispery voiced little girl,
- 55:01Speaker 1: thousands of slaves at our disposal, ten years wasted, and
- 55:08Speaker 1: her fucking creepy eyes. And you know, I had been
- 55:11Speaker 1: saying earlier, maybe she doesn't even want to be doing this,
- 55:16Speaker 1: you know, maybe I am blaming her when she's a
- 55:21Speaker 1: little kid and doesn't get it. And then to find
- 55:23Speaker 1: out that she's like been totally into this the whole time,
- 55:26Speaker 1: and she yells about oosop, that imbecile destroyed years of
- 55:33Speaker 1: my hard work in an instant, and the whole way
- 55:40Speaker 1: that she is talking like I'm just going to brush
- 55:45Speaker 1: my hand over him and pow farewell, straw hat. In
- 55:50Speaker 1: that split second, It'll be as though you never existed.
- 55:55Speaker 1: Everyone will forget you, you tracksh you guys. The fact
- 56:03Speaker 1: that it ended with you trash, that was the part
- 56:05Speaker 1: that really got me. I don't know why, but like
- 56:09Speaker 1: that felt particularly funny in a way. There was just
- 56:14Speaker 1: something about it that was so like aggressive, you know,
- 56:18Speaker 1: and and yet no, no, yet, you know what that's
- 56:24Speaker 1: what it like. I know that she's talking about like
- 56:27Speaker 1: turning him into a toy and destroying him. But usually
- 56:31Speaker 1: when she does that, it's very much like, oh, I'm
- 56:33Speaker 1: just doing this because this is what it takes to win,
- 56:37Speaker 1: and it's gotten to the very much like now it's
- 56:40Speaker 1: personal kind of thing, you know, and calling somebody trash
- 56:46Speaker 1: just feels like a particular kind of insult. And she
- 56:53Speaker 1: she is so young seeming still that that superiority complex
- 57:00Speaker 1: would have to have to call somebody that just doesn't
- 57:03Speaker 1: feel appropriate on her shoulders, you know what I mean.
- 57:07Speaker 1: So like that I think is why it kind of
- 57:10Speaker 1: caught me off guard and made me feel a way.
- 57:13Speaker 2: But yeah, Sugar is just.
- 57:14Speaker 1: Like, she's a pretty creepy villain. I really have to
- 57:17Speaker 1: hand it to her. She like, maybe her power is
- 57:20Speaker 1: kind of absurd, but the way that she has played
- 57:25Speaker 1: it so far I have really liked, because the more
- 57:27Speaker 1: I find out about her, the more upsetting she is.
- 57:31Speaker 1: So all right, I'm gonna have to wrap this up,
- 57:35Speaker 1: but thank you very much to everybody for listening. Thank
- 57:39Speaker 1: you to Seraphim for hanging out with me, thank you
- 57:42Speaker 1: to Florian for commissioning this episode. I would be all
- 57:45Speaker 1: are enjoying the coverage, And until next time to Loo Motherfuckers.
- 58:20Speaker 1: That was an unspoiled network podcast.
