- 4:26Although there have been many successes over the decades.

- 6:28well done, and obviously squashing Athletics again, the
- 6:30youth doing well, so the Pathways in our city clubs of
- 6:33doing, well, yeah, and that's the bodes.
- 6:36Well for those clubs, certainly in the opportunities that those
- 6:38clubs offer youth in this city as well.
- 6:40Lindy development opportunities, whether it be socially or
- 6:43whether you know something a bit more serious as well.
- 6:45Exactly yes. And that stuff.

- 9:58Welcome back to PCR Sports here on PC rfm for the start of your
- 10:02sporting weekend. We're here every Friday between
- 10:05six and seven discussing the local sporting headlines and
- 10:09chatting to local sports clubs and organizations about the
- 10:12goings-on in their organization and Sport itself and our guest
- 10:16this evening and very pleased to welcome back Grant Biddle from
- 10:20Peterborough Sports, and Tim Woodward from Peterborough
- 10:23Sports as well, who's joined the club and we'll be taking that
- 10:27club. Forward grunting.
- 10:28Welcome back. Yeah, thank you for joining us.
- 10:33Let's just have a little bit of a recap on the season from a
- 10:35Peter, a sports perspective going well off the pitch.
- 10:40Sorry on the pitch, certainly on the pitch to be fair, we've
- 10:43extended where we thought we'd be.
- 10:44We really thought it would be a battle weren't to be fair.
- 10:46I do a week or 10 days ago. I was just looking down a little
- 10:50bit and I'm really hopeful we'll just be a sort of mid to
- 10:53slightly below mid-table. Yeah, well you've got the world
- 10:56at the for auditions. You came in the summer of of
- 10:58made a difference their first choice starters and they just
- 11:01come in and key positions but one or two of the other players
- 11:03are stepped up. And to be honest, we look a very
- 11:06aside that's very handy at that level.
- 11:08We have a lot of compliments. We've had a couple of days where
- 11:11we've let ourselves down Buxton away was pretty disappointed.
- 11:15Yeah. But apart from that we're very
- 11:16happy with how it's going. Yeah.
- 11:18And the space, you know, back in August, when the season started
- 11:21as well, the changes that have taken place in management,
- 11:23obviously not to Jimmy as well in everything that he did for
- 11:26the club over the last few years.
- 11:27Is. Yeah, obviously that wasn't
- 11:29expect. Well, I'll say you always
- 11:30expect, it might happen at some stage, but midseason, was a bit
- 11:33of a hiccup. But to be honest, there was
- 11:35someone already under the club's Banner with Michael cash in
- 11:39there who Jimmy identified as being someone who could take it
- 11:43on and straight away, I agreed with him and then after a week
- 11:46or ten days, I think he probably realized that playing as well as
- 11:49trying to do. That was a big change and he's
- 11:52good friends with Luke Steele and have a chat with him.
- 11:55I think Luke came in and did a date at a couple of games.
- 11:57Just just see what? See if you liked any and he did.
- 12:00So we've appointed him as joint manager through to the end of
- 12:03the season initially. But to be honest, I think the
- 12:07idea is that they can hopefully create a new era that follows
- 12:10Jimmy's success and take us on further from where we are.
- 12:13Yeah, it's been fascinating to watch certainly on the picture
- 12:17as well. The challenges that you face
- 12:19this season, the traveling, for example, the different teams
- 12:23you've been playing in X Football League clubs as well
- 12:25with that. I was like this.
- 12:27The last couple of days, the weather is, it is probably worse
- 12:29this year, the probably of the five years I've been doing this.
- 12:31It's been the worst for weather and postponements and trying to
- 12:34rearrange. So there's a lot of Tuesday
- 12:36night traveling away from home. We've had more Tuesday night
- 12:40games. This year, we have in the past,
- 12:42which isn't great, for crowds and certainly not great for
- 12:45traveling, trying to get back from Scarborough juicy knots
- 12:48along opportunity. So the traveling is probably the
- 12:50biggest thing. But yeah, the the, when I took
- 12:52this on five years ago and we were playing time unite in front
- 12:56of 70, People to be going to Oldham and kidderminster and
- 13:01filed in front of up to 2,000. People are just totally
- 13:04transform where I thought it would be.
- 13:06So it's just fantastic. Brilliant stuff.
- 13:09Let's bring him in here then as well Tim.
- 13:12You're you've come on board to help the club out why people are
- 13:17sports question. The, there's a couple of guys
- 13:23that work for my company now and they were For my case and come
- 13:28down and watch Peter responds. Come never look.
- 13:30You'll enjoy this. And to the point where I did and
- 13:33then obviously, we've moved on to the stage, we're at now.
- 13:36And interestingly nicknamed, the turbines Peter, brotherhood's
- 13:42back in the day, with a, the first company to develop and
- 13:44produce a steam turbine, and our company, we installed and have
- 13:48installed steam, turbines gas turbine.
- 13:50So, it was kind of synonymous with what we did and it just
- 13:53clicked in my head. And, and here we are now and
- 13:56there's no Earning back. Yeah, football your background
- 14:00at all. So we brought up with football,
- 14:02mmm Peterborough, United seasonally, hold her own with
- 14:06that. But, you know that those days
- 14:08are gone there and obviously Premiership side Tottenham
- 14:12Hotspur but we won't talk much about them.
- 14:14Shall we not for the arsenic in their cup for Cup competitions
- 14:17subtly in that way as well. So you obviously got a vision
- 14:21for the club itself and some of the grant no doubt spoke to you
- 14:24about as well. Buying That was it is that a
- 14:28difficult transition or so to speak or was it something that
- 14:31you sort of thought? Yeah I can do this i-i'm pretty
- 14:35strong minded. I don't do failure if I take
- 14:39something on its going to succeed and I looked at that and
- 14:42I thought, yeah, there's opportunity here to take this to
- 14:46another place to improve what we've got and turn it into a
- 14:51club to be reckoned with and two or three years time, let's
- 14:54select speed tickling the the National League.
- 14:57And hopefully get into that place which is where I'm aiming
- 15:01it to be. Yeah, Grant just bringing you
- 15:03back in there. I suppose from a legacy
- 15:04perspective, you've the success you've had, and how you've grown
- 15:09it perhaps quicker than you expected.
- 15:11You're handing, over to Tim here, it sounds like you're in
- 15:14clubs in good hands undoubtedly. Yeah.
- 15:16So I would never have imagined. I could have taken it to where I
- 15:19did, but I recognize sort of before Christmas that I was
- 15:23reaching the end of either the commitment I could give it both
- 15:26financially. Also time and Infuse, Our Salon
- 15:28knew it was time and that's why I went out at Christmas and just
- 15:32said it's time for someone else to come in to carry on what
- 15:35we're doing. I didn't want to lose what we
- 15:37achieve and I was just concerned.
- 15:39Actually if we didn't expand it and at the time I wasn't sure
- 15:43exactly how that would what form that would take but I knew I
- 15:46couldn't carry on doing it on my own.
- 15:48So, yeah, I'm very glad I got Tim to my board to come in.
- 15:52Was it an easy sell to be honest?
- 15:56Yeah. Yeah, he didn't have to try too
- 16:00hard. It was I looked at it and
- 16:02thought, yeah, this is something I can do.
- 16:04And something I want to be involved with.
- 16:06And, and I believe I've got the ability to take it to that
- 16:09place. Yeah.
- 16:10What's your background? Tim just in terms of your
- 16:13suppose, professional personal life with in Peterborough?
- 16:18Well, I was brought up in Whittlesey served an engineering
- 16:21apprenticeship in Peterborough started Life as a welder, and
- 16:26I've done quite well at that. Now I run a company of a
- 16:29substantial number of people and we do mechanical electrical
- 16:32Works across the whole of the United Kingdom and with a
- 16:36fantastic team of people that I've got around me.
- 16:39It's been a lot of hard work, it's not always been easy, but
- 16:43yeah, it's been very successful and it's near giving me the
- 16:45opportunity to be able to take on the football club.
- 16:48That could be the resource. I've got behind me, which is
- 16:51brilliant. Yeah, if I'm, I think, when you
- 16:54talk about any level of football, it is an exciting
- 16:57opportunity. Unity to be able to get a chance
- 16:59to own a football club. Not many people get a chance or
- 17:00the opportunity and I think you've got embracing Avenue,
- 17:03really? Just come in there.
- 17:04And then like you say, you're not going to fail at it, so but
- 17:06it's that that excitement of thinking, I've got good
- 17:08opportunity that not many people, get a chance to do, you
- 17:10know, you can go and buy retail shop, you know, most people can,
- 17:13so they always in most businessman people can.
- 17:15But to get a unique business, like a football club is, this is
- 17:18something special, isn't it? Yeah, it's absolutely fantastic.
- 17:21I might and to be honest, if you'd have asked me to three
- 17:25years ago, with the will ever contemplate And they saw the
- 17:27sedna advance. It's not on my radar, but it is
- 17:31and I'm absolutely drawn to it and like you said I don't do
- 17:35failure so it won't fail. Yeah, I'm absolutely up for it's
- 17:41brilliant opportunity. I think for to take the club to
- 17:44another level and what grants that this last five years has
- 17:46been absolutely fantastic you've got to recognize and realize
- 17:49what he's doing. They've come on Leaps and Bounds
- 17:52from where they were and that you know, if I can replicate
- 17:56that In the next five years and take them to the next place then
- 17:59that will be job done and tick and then that might be time for
- 18:04an average of the world to come along and take it the next
- 18:06place. Let's talk a little about the
- 18:11football. Grant just from a background
- 18:12perspective for our listeners. This evening, there's a lady
- 18:15section as well. It's doing very well this year.
- 18:16Yeah, this is the first couple of years.
- 18:19I was doing it was very much focused around a first team.
- 18:21We did have an under-18 team but that's all disappeared.
- 18:24But but 18 months ago, I want to read To expand what we were
- 18:28doing. We have a youth section of the
- 18:30wasn't strictly Affiliated to us.
- 18:32So, I thought, particularly given the area we've got at the
- 18:35back of the pitch, we had go to take that forward with both the
- 18:38ladies team and used to him. So, we've now got two ladies
- 18:42teams and three, you themes. This this year, we've also had
- 18:46midseason the ladies Under 12, sorry, girls under 12, join us.
- 18:50So I think the plan is trying to expand that a couple of teams
- 18:53next year. Obviously on a grass picture.
- 18:55You've got a limit as to how much you Could play there.
- 18:58Yes, you could get team to apply it to other centers, but I think
- 19:01the idea initially is to keep teams with play by where we are
- 19:05and that Vision, Tim as well, no doubt off the pitch, but
- 19:08certainly on the pitch as well with the ladies football, the
- 19:11youth set-up. I suppose that ties in making it
- 19:13a community club as well. Yeah, absolutely.
- 19:16And obviously with luque still coming along, he's involved with
- 19:19lots of kids in the area and they had some of his stuff and I
- 19:23think that is something he'll want to get involved with.
- 19:27Greatly involved with it's just we need to put a structure
- 19:31together to work out how we're going to do that.
- 19:33And what we're going to do and obviously with the pitches and
- 19:35what type of pitch is we might get into and one then we'll talk
- 19:39about that later. There's a, there's an
- 19:40opportunity there and that there's a big catchment area and
- 19:43lots of people that want to play football for sure.
- 19:45I mean, one of the guys contacted me this week, that one
- 19:50of the girls teams, I think he's Steve Phillips.
- 19:53He's really nice. He's got those two or three of
- 19:55those, they will have a chat as well, because they want to, To
- 19:57plan to go forward, as well as I think everybody's quite excited
- 20:01about what's possibly about to happen.
- 20:03And it's certainly within them sort of millfield dogs.
- 20:06Thought that area itself, you know, football children.
- 20:10There's lots of primary schools around there as well.
- 20:12And the opportunity to spread the word about Peterborough
- 20:14Sports and making those facilities available for the
- 20:17community as well. Going forward as well.
- 20:19From that perspective, it's it was a massive catchment area.
- 20:23And, you know, it's it's something that we've got to look
- 20:26at and put The right plan in place the right structure in
- 20:30place. And I think once we've got that,
- 20:32then we move forward a great rate of knots.
- 20:35Yeah, we had Luke Kennedy on from youth dreams projects,
- 20:38who's the co-founder along with Luke Steele as well, and he was
- 20:40talking about the good work that they do and how they work with
- 20:44communities, perhaps, disadvantaged children
- 20:47underprivileged areas as well. So, something along, those seems
- 20:50like a perfect Synergy for a sportster to bring in ydp.
- 20:54From that perspective as well in there as well.
- 20:58Playing wise Grant, you're obviously very happy with how
- 21:00things have gone, you know? If it looks like sports a touch
- 21:03words, you know, it on a template too much but that win
- 21:06against Bradford Park Avenue, certainly helped shall we say?
- 21:10Yeah, that was real setback during the week because both
- 21:13lemming ton and Farley had away wins top of the type of top of
- 21:17the cycle side. So that Gap that we thought we'd
- 21:19just stretched a little bit on Saturdays, come back.
- 21:23We've got a couple of tough away games at spending more and then
- 21:26Chester, Then we've got three or four games where I'd like to
- 21:29think that there are points on offer that we can pick up on
- 21:32then, by early April, we're looking a bit more comfortable.
- 21:34Yeah. And in terms of the fan
- 21:37attendance as well, you've got your core support there as well,
- 21:40but talking about volunteers as well.
- 21:43They've been a huge part of the development of the club over the
- 21:45years. Yeah, we've gone through quite a
- 21:47few changes. I mean, there are quite a lot of
- 21:48people who were watching in the early days when I was in who,
- 21:51perhaps drifted away or or perhaps seen it as being not the
- 21:55same thing that they were. But we've gained a new batch
- 21:58batch of fans of come into like a serious level of football.
- 22:02So the the attendances have go up with Laden's go up a bit more
- 22:06than it cost. Yeah, but actually it's been a
- 22:09slight change. And there are some people have
- 22:12been there ever since the start but we've sort of changed a
- 22:14little bit and they've got a lot of new fans.
- 22:17Yeah yeah which is encouraged to hear dip.
- 22:19Am in terms of cost him your mind back to the beginning of
- 22:21season Grant and I know you and Jimmy were on the show, actually
- 22:24obviously excited about the promotion and that and the time.
- 22:27We will saying, you know, what would be classed as a successful
- 22:31good season? You know, and I think one of us
- 22:33or send me from your side, you didn't really commit, say what
- 22:35you were ambition tour, but looking back now and then what
- 22:38you are now, it does that kind of match the ambition, you had.
- 22:41It started out. We were saying, we wanted to
- 22:44finish 20th and that was for above, or below us.
- 22:47And, and we have taken that, but type bringing people, like,
- 22:49college on some kind of Kennedy, and pick Peter, Crook and
- 22:52long-term and Nathan, we thought.
- 22:54Yeah, we've got a side. They're not probably wouldn't be
- 22:56challenged if playoffs. But ought to be capable of
- 22:58playing with mid-table football and we're not miles away from
- 23:01that. I mean, if you look at the gap
- 23:03between 7th and 17th, it's only about 10 points.
- 23:06So you only need to go on a run, a 3 Port 3, get 3 wins.
- 23:09And you shooting up and down with.
- 23:11Wait wait you can look back on certain games, I think.
- 23:13Yeah, if only because I think this this let the step up as
- 23:27They've been greater than any of the others.
- 23:29Probably a bit too much for us to cope with really.
- 23:32But we just had to make the best of it off the field and having
- 23:36settled and enjoyed going to places like he referred and
- 23:40kidderminster and Darlington and place like that, and blind
- 23:43spots, we went the other week, big historic name it something.
- 23:47Once you go there, you don't want to go back to some of the
- 23:49people at step three and four that you play that.
- 23:52So once you get that as your sights, a bit of a bug like
- 23:55these old grounds, you can look back on your time.
- 23:57Very Fondly can't yes, it's probably count five ideas as
- 24:00well. Rob's gonna take another short
- 24:01break and we'll be back in with Tim and Grant and just leave

- 26:33You're listening to PCR Sports. Good evening, welcome back to
- 26:42you PC our Sports here on pc r FM were here every Friday
- 26:46between six and seven, discussing the local sports
- 26:49scene in our city guests, this evening, our grant Biddle and
- 26:54Tim Woodward from Peterborough Sports.
- 26:56And we've just been speaking to Grant just before the break
- 26:58there about his time at the club and the developments over the
- 27:02last five years or so, both on the pitch and off it and we're
- 27:06going to start this. It's half an hour of the show
- 27:08just catching up with Tim now and having a little chat about
- 27:11the off the field developments. Tim, there's obviously
- 27:14development what going on at the ground able to just fill us in
- 27:17on that and what the plans are going forward.
- 27:22We'll see playing in the league were in.
- 27:24Now there's a requirement for the grand capacity to be
- 27:28increased to three thousand and we have to make that happen or
- 27:34the, the be serious problems at the end of the Jason where we
- 27:37could be put down a leak, that's not going to happen.
- 27:42And since I've been involved with identified areas of the
- 27:46ground where we are going to increase the capacity and what
- 27:50we're currently doing on the Eagles, thought side of the
- 27:54ground, we're Puttin a 4-tier step Terrace the 50 meters along
- 28:01and the work has already started on that.
- 28:03Obviously the last couple of days have been a problem.
- 28:05We were going to pour concrete. It's just a little bit too cold
- 28:08for us but it won't delay us and then across the behind the, some
- 28:13Paul's Road goal end where the was a plan to put a 39 M 10-step
- 28:19tip Terrace in. I've been creased that 255 M,
- 28:22the maximum I could get across with everything that's in there
- 28:25at the moment. 10 steps high and we're going to put in the
- 28:29foundation blocks to take the still work, which will allow it
- 28:33to have a roof on it, which will be put on in the summer.
- 28:36So, Cantilever roof on. That should be totally covered
- 28:39that piece of the ground will hold 1240 people in that one
- 28:43stand and then down the Eagle store.
- 28:46Roadside that holds think it's 740.
- 28:50So it's increased by about 1980, which gets us to the point of
- 28:553175, which keeps us qualified in in this league.
- 28:59Or when there is an extension on the Colin day, stand, another 50
- 29:02seats in there, takes us to that going on from that.
- 29:06If you were to look at the national league, we would have
- 29:09to have a 4000 capacity which we're not a million miles away
- 29:14from my intention through the summer, would be to get us up
- 29:17somewhere near that with works at leave behind the other goal
- 29:20and down the side battery and the doctor surgery.
- 29:23Yeah. In the middle of that intention
- 29:28is to put LED flood Lighting in and it'll be far far more
- 29:32effective than what's there at the moment.
- 29:34Obviously, the halogens that are there.
- 29:37After time they do deteriorate and the looks levels go down.
- 29:40So we will that we're looking at replacing those in the summer.
- 29:44There's a lot to do that. We did have a timescale really
- 29:49had you been mother 31st of March?
- 29:50So I've met with the chairman of the league Marketplace overnight
- 29:54transfer, an extension, to the end of April and that's use
- 29:57virtually in place near and they're backing us 100% with
- 30:00what we do and they can see that we mean business.
- 30:04Yeah and I'm I'm in the middle of This is what I do.
- 30:07I build things and yeah, I love it.
- 30:09So that project management and developing.
- 30:13Well I seem to have got everyone on Red Alert is obviously from
- 30:15doing a lot of the work through my company.
- 30:18I mean, it is this it's a family-run businesses, in must
- 30:20own Adam is a senior project manager in it, Natalie's the the
- 30:24accountant. So they're all involved in the
- 30:27background of putting this all together, and then I've got my
- 30:30health and safety manager, David Anderson.
- 30:32He's been an absolute Superstar with doing what we've done so
- 30:35far from health and Dew point of view the eggs.
- 30:38We got a few Hoops to jump through and make sure everything
- 30:40is good and safe and sound and making sure the ground is secure
- 30:44every night. And yeah, secure as well as the
- 30:46still matches to be played as well while the works going on as
- 30:49well. Yeah, we've got, we've got to
- 30:50make it safe on Match days as well.
- 30:52So it's fenced off insecure. You can, you can't have it.
- 30:55So as anyone can go one really, and, and have an accident that
- 30:59once it's done, I think one or two people, be surprised when
- 31:02they come to the first game next year, it will.
- 31:04When they see these stands there.
- 31:07And hopefully with the sponsorship that I bring in will
- 31:09be displayed on these stands as well.
- 31:11Okay, I think courage into hey, I'm sure for all sports fans but
- 31:14just for football and the community of Peterborough itself
- 31:17as well, that you're developing this setting and the opportunity
- 31:22that will give not just for the club but other aspects of the
- 31:27club to bring in income as well. Oh, absolutely.
- 31:30Yeah. I mean, I think there's, there's
- 31:31opportunities that we haven't tapped into to bring sponsors.
- 31:37The bring bring people that want to invest in in certain aspects
- 31:40of it and get them interested. The key is obviously getting the
- 31:44attendance. He's up, that's something we've
- 31:46got to work on. We do need to increase that by
- 31:50three or four hundred people if we can, which is, which is a
- 31:53big-ass, considering we get sort of 300 350 now.
- 31:56So we virtually looking to double that, it's going to have
- 32:00to go in. Those kind of numbers really, to
- 32:03make it pay for itself, so long as it wipes, its feet, as I say,
- 32:06in the The next couple of years we're on the right track but
- 32:10that will be that will be the hardest part of it.
- 32:13But with me, sat behind it financially, that will be
- 32:17supported so that won't be a problem.
- 32:18But to bring in some sponsorship, money will be
- 32:21fantastic and I'm already on the case with that.
- 32:23So yeah, I think you like a challenge is the word that you
- 32:26used earlier. I love a challenge.
- 32:30Is that what your family? I think, people think I'm
- 32:32challenged this. I've said half an hour, I don't
- 32:39do failure. If I take something on, I know I
- 32:41can succeed at it and I don't think there's anything I've
- 32:44found that really in life so far.
- 32:47Yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm fired up. I think, is the word.
- 32:51I'm absolutely fired up for it and I'm embracing it.
- 32:54And I want people to walk in there when I've done what I've
- 32:57done this season. For the first game next year, it
- 32:59will be all unveiled. I wanted to go.
- 33:02Wow, this is a big change. Yeah, we want to be part of
- 33:04this. In fact, I'm gonna bring some
- 33:06soda Our next week and I'm going to tell my mate and let him
- 33:09bring his friends as well. You know, I want the word needs
- 33:12to be out, coming up a look at this because look, what they're
- 33:15doing down there for a little Club.
- 33:17That's come a long way. Little Club at droughts wrote a
- 33:20long way. You know.
- 33:21It's yeah you must be quite proud of that Grant in terms of
- 33:23the vision that Tim's got there. Yeah, exactly.
- 33:25I'll go back on-site. Tom you gotta bring Tommy into,
- 33:28as well. Before me, Tommy did five or six
- 33:31years and took us up for levels and probably bit like me came to
- 33:36came to the Meditate on what he can do.
- 33:38But ya know I look forward to coming down, continue to watch
- 33:41not even the pressure of that station and wander around the
- 33:45ground if we can still wander around those days and then
- 33:48enjoying the sidewalk I helped to kick off and and take further
- 33:53forward. Yeah.
- 33:54And you've talked about took the stands and the fans facilities.
- 33:58So I'm guessing a pitch is a part of that as well.
- 34:00Potentially as well to just improve the pitch itself, the
- 34:03picture at the moment. I think he's holds up pretty
- 34:06well for the game. Observe Laden, doesn't it g?
- 34:08That's so, I think that certainly for next year will
- 34:11probably remain as it is. Obviously, there's a question of
- 34:15a 4G pitching in the background. Possibly not quite sure where we
- 34:21will land up with that. It's certainly on the cards, not
- 34:24in the next few months, for sure.
- 34:27And obviously, there is various amounts of funding available
- 34:31from the football Foundation. We just need to investigate
- 34:33where that is, I think for now. During the grand developments,
- 34:38I've got enough going on to control and manage that you know
- 34:42we've got a we've got to walk before we can run otherwise it
- 34:46just will be a problem. You'd be trying to do too much
- 34:48and then it just it Go all goes out of thing then and it will be
- 34:51a problem. Yeah, definitely.
- 34:54Also looking at the pitch as well possibly because a lot of
- 34:57pitches now play with a ten percent acrylic woven in some
- 35:01about. Yeah, yes, yeah.
- 35:03I don't know where that fits in obviously with The ground and
- 35:07the land, that's another conversation.
- 35:09I need to have with the council to wear on might want to take
- 35:11that. And that's something we can
- 35:13discuss in a future maybe in a few months time.
- 35:15Yeah, brilliant stuff. And and again bringing people
- 35:19with you, I suppose the way the club's developed over the years,
- 35:21the volunteer aspect and you looking to develop sort of off
- 35:25the pitch to help you in terms of the number of staff that are
- 35:29on duty as well. Just to help make sure that the
- 35:31club is offering that support I guess to you as well as the
- 35:36Orders that are coming in. Yeah, sure.
- 35:39I'm yet to sit down with everybody.
- 35:42I've been meeting people on a weekly basis of my grand so I'm
- 35:45not sure of my absolutely everybody yet but yeah, I've got
- 35:49to say that the guys that are down there especially the
- 35:52volunteer and don't get a lot out of it.
- 35:54They do an absolutely fantastic job and particularly Robbo the
- 35:59sexy. He's an absolute Superstar and
- 36:02you've got dowel running the bar and the club and all the guys
- 36:05that have the turnstiles and do the other Bits and pieces to the
- 36:07two brothers, that do the tidy up and clean their personality.
- 36:10Absolutely brilliant. In the, their commitment is, is
- 36:14phenomenal. No one's going anywhere, but I
- 36:18need to assess what we've got to do, to make it successful,
- 36:22certainly with the clubhouse and that side of it.
- 36:24And that's a, that's a side. I want to develop and make that
- 36:26a bigger Revenue generator perhaps as well.
- 36:30Absolutely. Yeah.
- 36:31And to be able to make full use of that for the community as
- 36:34well as the football club. Absolutely.
- 36:36And look The possibility of maybe a couple of concerts or
- 36:40Battle of the Bands, type thing down there in the summer, or one
- 36:43again just to bring in a bit of Revenue.
- 36:44Because you know that the wage bill is up there for the players
- 36:48for sure. And I can only see that probably
- 36:53increasing and there is only enough manager coming.
- 37:00I suppose that's football and being a fan myself as well.
- 37:02You know, you always want the best players for your Club.
- 37:04The manager always wants the best players as well.
- 37:06So that's, that's something else that you'll have to manage in
- 37:09time with, with the, with the management team that you've got
- 37:12at the moment as well. It's gonna be a challenge.
- 37:17I know it's gonna be a challenge, but what I'm seeing
- 37:20so far, it's the the structure, the infrastructure, and the
- 37:24structure around the team. And everybody that helps is
- 37:27fantastic. It's am, I can see.
- 37:30It's there. I can see there's there's body
- 37:32to it and we'll just we'll take it to where we can take it.
- 37:37Damn, with the help of those people, which Grandma's chili
- 37:41appreciates what they did. And I can see that for sure.
- 37:44The little time I've seen these people operating.
- 37:46It's it's brilliant, what they what they give from what they do
- 37:49it really, is he thought it Grant, you know, your team going
- 37:52up on a Friday night for a Saturday game, you know.
- 37:55Yeah, we've done that. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:57We looked at it in the summer and chatter through and actually
- 38:00watched him who's in charge. I know he took a lot of advice
- 38:05from Michael gash who was the senior play later level.
- 38:09And one of the things he said is you don't want me getting on a
- 38:11coach on Saturday morning at 8:00, 5 hours up to Blind and
- 38:14getting off the couch and playing football.
- 38:17So he said, forget the coach will drive up on a Friday night.
- 38:20We'll have 12 13 rooms, whatever it is.
- 38:23So, they're staying up there, Durham somewhere tonight, and
- 38:26they'll be, they'll wander around in the morning.
- 38:27It's sort of an element the professionalism that you have to
- 38:30do moving from 322nd. Nice place that helps attract
- 38:34players as well known at the club is that way inclined.
- 38:37Well, and not just on a Saturday, come to the club
- 38:39knowing that it's got a special element.
- 38:41They're not, they're not getting the fifty six seater flash
- 38:45coaches, that most clubs come to a point where ground, they know
- 38:49that it's a bit of a sort of Band, of Brothers type thing.
- 38:52That's come through the League's, what, the fighting
- 38:55above, our weight, a bit. And even this year, I know that
- 38:58there are things that we're not doing as professionally and as
- 39:01well as other clubs. So the players have gained a lot
- 39:06of respect for me. Me this year for how they battle
- 39:08down and got us through some tough times, really, as we're
- 39:11battling in this, and they've stuck together, and so it's
- 39:14great. Yeah, fingers crossed for the
- 39:16game against penny more tomorrow, as well, then they're
- 39:18hoping that passes. That pitch inspection.
- 39:20That they've got plans tomorrow morning and hopefully pick up a
- 39:23foul ball. Three points as well there as
- 39:25well. Yeah, I could draw.
- 39:26Look right. It's gonna take another short
- 39:31break and we'll be back with Grant and Tim very shortly.
- 39:34Queensgate. Has your favorite big Stores.
- 39:37That's why we're the Region's best.

- 39:42indoor mini golf, but Stars Ms. And River Island to Primark,

- 42:17This evening, you are Tim Woodward and Grant video from
- 42:19Peterborough Sports, and we've just been having a chat about
- 42:22the the changes, the progress that Peter has Sports have made
- 42:25over the last five years, especially and then Tim coming
- 42:28on board in the last few weeks to help move the club forward
- 42:31again and help meet the needs and developments that are going
- 42:36on, not just off the pitch but also on it as well.
- 42:38And sustaining National League, North set football again for
- 42:43next season fingers across for them as well.
- 42:46Tim I am, you're obviously a very Driven, Man.
- 42:49Businessman your Smite in there. Some may think you're crazy,
- 42:52taking over a football club, certainly perhaps in this
- 42:55current climate. I guess you're looking for the
- 42:58support of the city where where if they've not got a football
- 43:02club, they're not following Posh potentially on a Saturday
- 43:04afternoon, come down and watch him local football at its best
- 43:09Peter Berg come down and see what it's like.
- 43:12Is it's an experience and I think it's a brilliant
- 43:15experience. It's good quality.
- 43:17Leti football, you're close to the action, it's a friendly
- 43:21atmosphere. Yeah I need I need Peterborough
- 43:24to come and support Peterborough, Sports.
- 43:26I need to get people through the gate, so everyone in Petersburg
- 43:29come on down. Come on, come and support us and
- 43:31see what we're about. Certainly from the first game of
- 43:35next season, when everyone comes and sees the new Terrace, in the
- 43:38stands, the new stadium, which is only part of my vision to
- 43:43take it Forward. Yeah.
- 43:45Come on down. Come and support us.
- 43:47We'll see what it's like, it's a friendly place to be and also
- 43:49from the I suppose the business community of the our region, as
- 43:52well as opportunities for them to be involved with the project
- 43:55that you're building. Yes, your we're looking for
- 43:59sponsorship. For sure.
- 44:00We are and I will have a guy involved with that will be going
- 44:05and contacting local companies to see if we can drag in some
- 44:08sponsorship match, sponsorship ball sponsorship.
- 44:11I'm going to bring along some sponsorship myself from my
- 44:14contacts with suppliers from the company I come.
- 44:17P'nay and some of those will be substantial amounts and just one
- 44:23that we've got at the moment and I'm not going to name them.
- 44:25I've already got 25,000 pounds from one, just one company.
- 44:29If I can get another couple that are sort of round, that sort of
- 44:3210 to 15 thousand pounds. That's a fantastic amount of
- 44:35money to be given to a club in the in the Northern premier
- 44:40league and we'll build on that and we'll make it a success.
- 44:43But yeah and that can only help not entirely.
- 44:47Terms of the environment that you are in as well.
- 44:48But we mentioned just before the break there about, you know, the
- 44:52managers budget, for example, as well, and the playing side, not
- 44:56got to that yet. That's the big one, is the big
- 45:00one. And obviously, we'll sit down at
- 45:02the end of the year. And I think grants to be
- 45:06involved with that with me. Because I've asked Grant, stay
- 45:08around, and give me a bit of help, little bit of guidance, on
- 45:10certain things. But yeah, that's, that's going
- 45:13to be the big one. It's because that will be a big
- 45:16number. And looking at the looking at
- 45:18the figures from last year, I think the plane budget we sat
- 45:2211th. Did we know yet?
- 45:24Oh yeah. Yeah, nobody love with you.
- 45:26Yeah so me tightly in that way tight.
- 45:28Yeah a table in that way. Yeah.
- 45:29The league the league won't tell you over wires things but when
- 45:31we were talking about finances Etc said yeah, 11th in terms of
- 45:35the overall playing but yeah for that effect on my feet.
- 45:39For the results perspective this is you know there or thereabouts
- 45:41aren't you as well. I'm shows talking to a number of
- 45:43the other clubs like I wasn't meeting last Monday or Monday
- 45:46before. Actually wouldn't wish it on a
- 45:48strategy meeting that there was a feeling around the number of
- 45:51clubs that there actually might be an element of realism next
- 45:53summer. A lot of clubs I've seen
- 45:55attendance is down the guy at Gloucester has made a big
- 45:58statement in the last couple of weeks about budgets and funding
- 46:01wages. So I suspect players about it,
- 46:04good for a couple of years but I suspect in the summer, it might
- 46:07be a little bit tighter in certain quarters for budgets and
- 46:11that's any right? Isn't it to be able to sustain a
- 46:13club at this level as well? Yeah.
- 46:15Affections of the economy. Where things on, perhaps things
- 46:18won't be quite as fruitful for some of them but yeah, State.
- 46:21And that was something to discuss feet actually
- 46:23sustainable. Yeah, it can't just be a honey
- 46:27pot. It's got to balance itself out,
- 46:29so I think there is going to be grants, right?
- 46:31Are you in area of realism that comes along?
- 46:34Yeah, if I'm to find that, obviously, when you took looking
- 46:38at the top echelons of the foot, buffer of the game and you've
- 46:42got huge amounts of money, not just in the English Premier
- 46:44League but throughout Europe and what have you but Do you think
- 46:48feel that sort of attitude that people have at that level if all
- 46:51be scaled down like, so players and will fans to have that sort
- 46:54of sort of, almost that sorts of cautions bias of that sort of
- 46:58thing and think you know, money is everywhere in the in the
- 47:02sport. Yeah.
- 47:03I mean we took we do get an element of funding coming down
- 47:05from the top level but it's just astronomical sort of figures
- 47:08that right, that top level and yeah that the support through
- 47:11the stadium funds and through certain other facilities.
- 47:15But it's a very, it's a It's nowhere near the same level is
- 47:19lead true for all because it did what I meant by.
- 47:21That was just one question was that is the expectation for
- 47:24people that you deal with with the club raise because of what
- 47:27they see at the high level thing, you want to scale down
- 47:30level, there could be still be money, sloshing around.
- 47:32I think people are actually coming to our level because they
- 47:34don't see that. Yeah silly money sloshing around
- 47:36at that level of they see something that's much more in
- 47:39tune with what they see day-to-day.
- 47:41Some of the a number of the players are local and they come
- 47:45across from during the week and you don't That would probably
- 47:47ship footballs do they live in an ivory Tower?
- 47:49I think you did well as some somewhere else, but maybe two.
- 47:53Or three years ago, particularly two or three of the players were
- 47:55often out and in town and well, known around town as been local
- 48:00people. It's moved a little bit away
- 48:01from that recently but there's much more of a connect between
- 48:04players and fans at this level than there is a possum.
- 48:08That's good policy with indigenous, only premium level.
- 48:11Yeah, a few games last season with you guys and yeah, you can
- 48:16see That camera rodri that bond that you had certainly with the
- 48:20playing side and you know, the promotion winning day was just
- 48:24something to be, you know that you'll never forget will you?
- 48:27And your in your time with the go you've got to say that was
- 48:30probably the highlight of my time here.
- 48:33Yeah there's some other event something going to Oldham just
- 48:36before Christmas with the trophy go that for me was just a
- 48:39fantastic thought that this isn't a club that was in the
- 48:42Premiership. 20, 20 odd years ago, 25 years ago and here's my
- 48:46little foot. Club - the next Premier League
- 48:49Stadium. Yeah, that was a that for some
- 48:51respects that was as good for me as that the Colville go and
- 48:54literally a few kicks away from beating him as I wasn't supposed
- 48:59to go and see one. There would have just been a
- 49:01really but yeah, that that for me, was actually nearly as close
- 49:05to, to the Culver gum, the cold would go.
- 49:07Mad had its headaches on the day and yes, the result was made.
- 49:12It all worthwhile. Actually, Paul is often said
- 49:15what was well prevent us. He said, Not sure, enjoyed that.
- 49:18And I was watching that, all right.
- 49:19And yeah, that the day itself is good, obviously What It produced
- 49:22was good. But for me Oldham, this was
- 49:25probably my biggest memory Tempe, you've got some ambition
- 49:30goals and dreams to be had as well.
- 49:35Absolutely, yeah, absolutely. I'm you I think, you can see I'm
- 49:41absolutely, I'm excited without a doubt.
- 49:45I'm looking forward to I'm looking forward to everyone
- 49:50supporting and helping me as much as they can because I will
- 49:52need some help. Yes, you need that buy-in won't
- 49:54get lonely. Combine from lots of people, you
- 49:58know, Oldham. That's a wow moment that you
- 50:01know that grants are the former premier league and you're
- 50:03playing at Premier League grounds from not many years ago.
- 50:05That's a wow. Moment if we could get ourselves
- 50:09a run in the FA Cup and get ourselves into the first round,
- 50:13I mean yeah, my usual. If we could ever get to the
- 50:16third round, And draw a fantastic team.
- 50:18It'll be amazing. I'm not sure why.
- 50:24Yes, I didn't really say that now, from this perspective.
- 50:27Yeah, the new ground there as well.
- 50:29And we're coming very quickly to the end of this week show.
- 50:32Tim Grant, thank you so much. Grant, just a special thanks
- 50:36from us here at PCR sports, for all the support, you've given us
- 50:39and, you know, coming in on the show and giving us updates of
- 50:42the club and inviting us down as well as very much appreciated.
- 50:45And I know, You'll stay involved in Tim's already mentioned that
- 50:49he'll want, you is right arm, right hand man, effectively at
- 50:52times over the summer as well, you know, it's probably not
- 50:55going to walk away. I want to carry on watching and
- 50:58following the progress of the club.
- 50:59Yeah, brilliant. And Tim, good luck from
- 51:01everybody here at PC our Sports yet.
- 51:03You know we'll certainly keep a close watching brief there and
- 51:06you know fingers crossed the next season when the ground is
- 51:10prepped. Ready to go in National League
- 51:12North again that, you know, from a playing side as well, you'll
- 51:15be able to click on from there. No doubt which is your ambition,
- 51:18absolutely brilliant. Looking forward to it.
- 51:20Thank you very much, both years, evening dip, and thanks as
- 51:22always very much appreciated, thanks to everybody.
- 51:25Who's listening this evening? You can listen back as a save by
