Transcript
- 0:59Hey, you welcome today's show. We're going to continue a little bit with
- 1:03Irenaeus in his against heresies. He is explaining why the toral law was imposed
- 1:14on the Jews. He's explaining, I guess you would say, the failings
- 1:21of man in regard to natural law. It's as part of what we were
- 1:26talking about yesterday of why God made man and what is man's duty to God.
- 1:33So let's get back into to start with our radio replies, questions,
- 1:38and answers. You may remember from yesterday if you listen to yesterday's show,
- 1:42that this man is who is questioning the priest claims that he is what would
- 1:49you say, spiritual without being religious. He believes in God who rejects organized
- 1:53religion and says that because he's good, he's going to go to heaven.
- 1:57In the last question, he asked them what how they define a good man?
- 2:04And they said that's a man who tries to be moral and who helps
- 2:10his neighbor and loves God, gives his duty to both man and God.
- 2:14Like Jesus, love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself.
- 2:17He continues, but surely I can do that without adopting a particular form
- 2:23of religion. If I adopt a particular church, I antagonize my fellow men.
- 2:30So I keep neutral and bear ill will to none. Is that interesting?
- 2:36So even in the nineteen thirties, I guess when this book was written,
- 2:40maybe early nineteen forties, the secularist, the modernist, the college educated
- 2:52would say, give the universe, unitarian, universalist view of all religions are
- 3:00equal. You know, he's not going to judge one over the other,
- 3:04say one is true and one is faults, and he's going to say should
- 3:08he choose, he would antagonize his fellow man. Well, there's nothing new
- 3:15under the sign, is there? If that isn't still what they're teaching in
- 3:19colleges. I mean, having been to four or five different colleges and universities,
- 3:23yes, I can tell you that is exactly what the teaching colleges.
- 3:28Your parents were ignorant. You were brought up in an ignorant ideology, and
- 3:34you need to be kind everyone because you're obviously prejudiced. If you're Christian,
- 3:38you're biased, you're bigoted. Well, they answer him. Once you find
- 3:45that God has revealed a particular form of religion, you must accept it.
- 3:50You will not assume any obligation to bear any ill will toward others. Rather,
- 3:55you will have an additional obligation to avoid it. But you are not
- 4:00justified in refusing to adopt that particular form of religion because you will antagonize your
- 4:06fellow man. If thus you secure the ill will of others, that is
- 4:12not your fault and is their loss. We may never let what men may
- 4:16think of us matter more than what God thinks of us. After all,
- 4:20it is God who will judge us, and not our fellow men. And
- 4:26I would go a step further and say that Jesus said in the Bible,
- 4:29if you follow him, you will be hated and despised and rejected. That
- 4:33is the trade that. Forget the prosperity doctrine, forget the shiny happy people.
- 4:41Christians will suffer, Christians will face rejection. Christians will not have an
- 4:46easy life. Better to suffer here than in the afterlife. In the words
- 4:54of the venerable fult Machine, you may know the true church because it's the
- 4:59one that all of society opposes and most men hate. And that's the Catholic
- 5:05Church. Boy, can I tell you that for sure? Living in North
- 5:11Carolina, you know, in the mountains, we're very live and let live,
- 5:16keep yourself, don't interfere with each other. That's that's the mountain athos.
- 5:21You know. This is where the Irish and Scottish and Scots Irish and
- 5:29such outlaws got away from the English who would colonize the coast and settled.
- 5:34This is the over mountain men. This is the trappers and moonshiners that actually
- 5:42won the American Revolution. Very fiercely independent. But you don't poke your nose
- 5:47in someone else's business. That's that's just the way it is. Obviously,
- 5:55if your neighbor's making moonshine and you poked your nose into his business, you
- 5:58might get shot off. So I was really surprised about probably fifteen years ago.
- 6:06I was down you know, I have family in the middle part of
- 6:09the state Sandhills. Yeah, no, near Fayetteville. Let's just Moore County,
- 6:16southern Pines, Pinehurst, that area, and I had never actually experienced
- 6:25I mean, I experienced anti Catholicism from people who knew me, people I
- 6:29went to school with in Virginia, people who were friends and family in both
- 6:32you know, eastern and western parts of the state. People who would see
- 6:36me wearing a crucifix in a grocery store and start screaming at me, complete
- 6:42stranger. Yeah, you would definitely know which is a true church by which
- 6:51church is most hated. Maybe I shouldn't say screaming. Screaming would be an
- 6:58overstatement, but I had definitely had some encounters with complete strangers that could have
- 7:06become violent very easily. You know, I'm a big guy. I'm six
- 7:13four two twenty. When i'm lean, I'm probably about two twenty five.
- 7:16Right now, I'm probably a little overweight. I need to need to get
- 7:21back chopping some wood. But yeah, I mean I usually carry a hunting
- 7:27knife on my belt. Sometimes I carry a pistol. I drive an old,
- 7:30beat up pickup truck. A lot of people won't mess with me.
- 7:36But I could definitely see that if I had been a smaller framed man or
- 7:43a woman, I could have been in some serious physical danger in some of
- 7:46these cases, some of these instances, you know, what are you going
- 7:50to do? The Catholic Church is hated by essentially all liberals. The real
- 7:57Catholic Church, real Catholicism, not the Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi garbage that
- 8:03just uses their religion as a cover as they support abortion and homosexuality and all
- 8:09that liberals hate. The Catholic Church. Catholic Church is the only institution on
- 8:13earth that has infallible authority. They hate it. It opposes everything they believe
- 8:20in and most many obviously many Protestants, whether they be Conservative or Republican or
- 8:30whatever. I mean, they'll they'll embrace fringe Protestant groups. You know,
- 8:39they may have a good time when the Jehovah's Witness knocks on the door,
- 8:41sit down, give them, you know, glass iced tea, and chat
- 8:45with them for a while. They will embrace Jews. Many times Muslims will
- 8:50go out of their way to make Muslims feel comfortable, which is great,
- 8:54they should, no doubt about it. They meet a Catholic and suddenly the
- 9:00mask falls off and it's like there's a demon screaming at you. I would
- 9:07never I never knew that to be the case, and never could have imagined
- 9:11it until I became Catholic, and until I went to Moore County, North
- 9:18Carolina. Now I've experienced in other places, yeah, other places in North
- 9:24Carolina and in other states, but for some reason, in Pine her Southern
- 9:31Pines. Whoa Aberdeen. Yeah, you're gonna run into the teeth of a
- 9:41very bigoted population. But then again, you know, it's just up the
- 9:45road from Laurenburg, where they used to have signs with Klansman on them saying
- 9:50the q klux Klan welcomes you to our county. Be sure to obey our
- 9:54laws while you are here. You know, not exactly this is scott Sire,
- 10:01center of North Carolina sand Hills and has never been a place that was
- 10:07welcoming to Catholics. In fact, Pinehurst, which is like this Yankee enclave
- 10:13in North Carolina, Southerners have never lived in Pinehurst. It was actually developed
- 10:18by Yankees as a golf resort and all that actually started as a place for
- 10:24people with tuberculosis to go to. But then it became about golf they barred.
- 10:33Okay, So in order to join the country club and play golf in
- 10:35Pinehurst, which is the home of golf in America, it's where the National
- 10:39Golf Museum in Hall of Fame and everything is right in order to buy property,
- 10:45you had to be a club member. In order to be a club
- 10:46member, you had to buy property. So they kemp a very strict control
- 10:50and who could come in, and well into the nineteen sixties, I believe,
- 10:54maybe even the early nineteen seventies, they prohibited Catholics and Jews from joining
- 11:01the country club and owning property. Yeah, most people don't know that,
- 11:07but even when it was an official policy, they had people who would screen
- 11:11the applications looking for certain last names. Yeah. So, anyway you want
- 11:22to find the true church, look for the one that's hated, look for
- 11:24the one that nobody likes. So what Jesus said, he promised it.
- 11:28He promised if you were a Christian you were going to be rejected and hated
- 11:31and despised. And there you go. So the guy goes on, I
- 11:37call myself religious, follow the truth wherever it leads, and am not afraid
- 11:43of God's devils or clergymen. Is that a sin? And they answer,
- 11:48you may follow what you think to be the truth, But how do you
- 11:50know that it is the truth? If because you think so, there is
- 11:54no possibility of mistake. If you accept ideas because wise men have uttered them,
- 12:01remember that equally wise men have denied them. You need not be afraid
- 12:05of God's devils or clergymen. If you are sincerely looking for the truth.
- 12:11But you need to be afraid of your own mental limitations. The wisest philosophers
- 12:16have fallen into the most absurd errors at times. Above all, in questions
- 12:20of religion. You owe a debt to God. You do not pay in
- 12:24the way that He demands. If you refuse to pay earthly bills, you
- 12:28are arrested and have to answer in court. God is not foolish. He
- 12:31does not give commandments for nothing. He cannot be escaped. Death arrests every
- 12:39man, and he who neglects God's just demands for religious worship and acknowledgement will
- 12:46have to answer for his conduct. I don't think he anymore needs to be
- 12:52said on that. Let's get into Saint Ironeus. Remember we were talking about
- 12:58why God gave to the ancient Israelites, the Hebrews, the Jews, and
- 13:03the desert the law he continues from yesterday, and I believe this is chapter
- 13:13fifteen a book five of against Heresy. They me and the Jews had therefore
- 13:20a law, a course of discipline, and a prophecy of future things that
- 13:24made the Jewish people unique among all peoples on earth. God actually revealed himself
- 13:33to them. He took them as his people, as chosen people. He
- 13:39disciplined them through the law, and he gave them prophets who foretold of the
- 13:45coming of the Messiah. And Okay, I'm reading a little bit, and
- 13:50I'm commenting. What I just said were my own words. I think you
- 13:54can you know, you can tell, which is what my tone actually usually
- 13:58changes when I stop reading and start speaking. I do that without even being
- 14:03aware of it. But I think most people can follow. So continuing for
- 14:07God at first indeed warning them by the means of natural precepts, which from
- 14:13the beginning he had implanted in mankind, that is, by means of the
- 14:16decalogue ten commandments, which if anyone does not observe, he has no salvation.
- 14:22Did then demand nothing more of them? As Moses says in Deuteronomy,
- 14:26these are all the words which the Lord spake to the whole assembly of the
- 14:31sons of Israel on the mount. And he added no more, and he
- 14:35wrote them on two tables of stone and gave them to me. Think about
- 14:39this. You go to open your Bible, go to the front, and
- 14:45you get to Leviticus and Deuteronomy in numbers, and it's just wow. This
- 14:52incredibly complex, what's known as Torah law. What Saint Aronaeus is pointing out
- 14:58here, just as Saint Justin Martyr did before him, just as Saint Ignatius
- 15:03did before him, just as Saint Paul didn't the Bible, just as Saint
- 15:07Peter didn't the Bible. The law, the toral law was specific to the
- 15:15Jewish people before the coming of Christ. All that he originally gave them was
- 15:24the Ten Commandments. But because immediately before they could even bring the Ten Commandments
- 15:28down from the mountain, they went back to worshiping idols in violation of the
- 15:33first of the ten Commandments, that was gonna have no other gods before me.
- 15:39He added on moral laws, to keep his ordinances always before their hearts,
- 15:48to discipline them, and essentially undo, to the best it could be
- 15:56done, the bad habits they had learned in Egypt, of idol worship and
- 16:00such. He went on. For this reason. He did so that they
- 16:06who were willing to follow him might keep the commandments. But when they turned
- 16:10themselves to make a calf and had gone back in their minds to Egypt,
- 16:15desiring to be slaves instead of free men, they were placed for the future
- 16:19in a state of servitude suited to their wish, a slavery which did not
- 16:25indeed cut them off from God, but subjected them to the yoke of bondage,
- 16:30as is Eka the Prophet, when stating the reason for giving such a
- 16:33law to Claires, and their eyes were after the desire of their heart,
- 16:37and I gave them statutes which were not good, and judgments in which they
- 16:42shall not live. Luke has also recorded that Stephen, who was the first
- 16:48elected to the diaconite by the apostles, and who was the first slain for
- 16:52his testimony of Christ, spoke regarding Moses as follows. This man did indeed
- 16:56receive the commandments of the Living God given to us, whom your fathers would
- 17:02not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back
- 17:06to Egypt, saying into erin, make us Gods to go before us,
- 17:11for we did not know what has happened to this Moses, who led us
- 17:14out of the land of Egypt. And they met a calf in those days
- 17:17and offered sacrifices to the idol and were rejoicing in the works of their own
- 17:21hands. But God turned and gave them up to the worship of the host
- 17:26of heavens, as is written in the books of the Prophets, O,
- 17:30ye house of Israel, have you offered me sacrifices and oblations for forty years
- 17:34in the wilderness, and ye took up the tavernaco of Moloch and the star
- 17:40of the God from rim Fan. I guess figures which ye made to worship
- 17:45them, pointing out plainly that the law being such was not given to them
- 17:49by another God, but that adapted to their condition of servitude. It originated
- 17:56from the very same God as we worship. Wherefore, also he says to
- 18:00Moses an Exodus, I will send forth my Angel before me, for I
- 18:06would not go up with thee because thou art a stiff necked people. In
- 18:14other words, not only had the Hebrew people become accustomed to idol worship in
- 18:21the land of Egypt, they had become accustomed to servitude, serving not just
- 18:27the Egyptians as slaves, but the false gods who are demons. And so
- 18:34God gives them a law that he himself says is not good, and he
- 18:40did not intend as a form of discipline because they were a stiff necked people.
- 18:51Remember that Saint Paul in Romans says that we are Christians who believe in
- 19:03Jesus, who are baptized into the Church are no longer slaves, but our
- 19:11errors adopted through Christ. The Jewish people were made slaves to the law.
- 19:19We are no longer under the law. We are errors, part of the
- 19:26family of God. An incredible promise. Today I did the Gospel Reflection from
- 19:33Mizzi O day, and I spent a good deal of time on this very
- 19:38topic. Being co errs, brothers and sisters in Christ. Never before in
- 19:47the history of the world had anyone understood the fatherhood of God, the Father,
- 19:52as explained by Jesus entering into the body of Christ. By coming into
- 19:59the Church, becoming a brother and sister in Christ, we share in his
- 20:04sonship, his divinity. His Father is now our father, not just the
- 20:10creator of the universe, not like a clockmaker who just winds it up and
- 20:14lets it go, but a personal relationship with our Lord and brother, Jesus
- 20:19Christ and our Father, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit who comes
- 20:25from to all within us. And as I've explained about a week ago,
- 20:30I guess when we were talking about the nature of saints, people ask where
- 20:34is Heaven? Well, where is heaven. Heaven is where God exists.
- 20:38Where does God exist? God exists within your heart. Through the sacraments of
- 20:44the Catholic Church, we take God into our hearts. The Holy Spirit,
- 20:52the Kingdom of Heaven, is actually within us, and so yes, we
- 20:57can pray to Jesus, we can pray the Father, although we can play
- 21:00the Holy Spirit. We can talk with all the angels and saints because they
- 21:03live now within our hearts. And the more holy we become, the more
- 21:10we enter into that infinite, timeless reality that is the Kingdom of God.
- 21:19We'll find it on the altar in a Catholic church, and the Eucharist we
- 21:25eat it and drink it when we take the body and blood of Christ within
- 21:30us, and it dwells within our hearts. If we could from one moment
- 21:34see the reality, sat Padro Pio said, we would see that we are
- 21:41surrounded by so many angels and demons fighting for our souls that they would block
- 21:48out the sun. Heaven's not somewhere up there in the clouds. It's actually
- 21:56right here in your heart and right here around you. You're living in it,
- 22:02but you're covered, your eyes are covered, and you can't see it.
- 22:07It would terrify most people if they did see it. It should you
- 22:11know, the fear of God is the beginning of all wisdom. I mean,
- 22:15that's what Ecclesiasties I think. I think it's Ecclesiasties could be the book
- 22:19of wisdom. But I think it's Ecclesiasties. That's a lot to digest,
- 22:26isn't it. I mean, when you really think about it, I mean,
- 22:30did you know your guardian angels standing right beside you this moment? How
- 22:33do I know that? Well, that's what the Catholic Church teachers. But
- 22:37Jesus also said, do you not know that each one of these little ones,
- 22:41says an angel who continually witnesses before the face of my Father's really something,
- 22:49isn't it? Wants to turn back tyranning us for a minute, he
- 22:53continues, And not only so, but the Lord also showed that certain precepts
- 22:59were an act for them by Moses on account of their hardness of heart and
- 23:04because of their unwillingness to be obedient when they're saying to him, Why then
- 23:11did Moses command to give a writing of divorcement and to send away a wife?
- 23:15He said, because of the hardness of your heart. He permitted these
- 23:18things to you. But from the beginning it was not so, thus explicating
- 23:25Moses as a faithful servant, but acknowledging one God who from the beginning made
- 23:29male and female, and reproving them as hard hearted and disobedient. And therefore
- 23:34it was that they received from Moses's law of divorcement adapted to their hard nature.
- 23:41But why say I these things concerning the Old Testament? For in the
- 23:45New also are the apostles found doing this very thing on the ground which has
- 23:49been mentioned. Paul plainly declaring, but these things I say not the Lord.
- 23:56And again, but this I speak by permission, not by commandment.
- 24:00And again, as concerning virgins, I have no commandment from the Lord.
- 24:03Yet I give my judgment as one as one that hath obtained mercy of the
- 24:11Lord to be faithful. But further, in other places he says that Satan
- 24:15tipps you not for your incontinence. If therefore, even in the New Testament,
- 24:21the apostles are found grounding granting certain precepts and considerations of human infirmity because
- 24:27of the incontinence of some less some persons having grown obdurate. That means stubborn.
- 24:34You probably know that, but you know sort of a word we don't
- 24:37use anymore, and despairing altogether their salvation should become apostates from God. It
- 24:44ought not be wondered at if also in the Old Testament, the same God
- 24:48permitted similar indulgences for the beginning for the benefit of his people, drawing them
- 24:52on by means of ordinances already mentioned, so that they might obtain the gift
- 24:57of salvation through them while they obeyed the Decalogue and being restrained by him,
- 25:03should not revert to idolatry nor apostasize from God, but learned to love Him
- 25:11with the whole heart. And if certain persons because of their disobedience and ruined.
- 25:17Because of the disobedience and ruined Israelites do asshut do assert that the giver
- 25:22of the law was limited in power, They will find in our dispensation that
- 25:27many are called, but few are chosen, and that there are those who
- 25:32inwardly are wolves ship wear sheep's clothing in the eyes of the world. And
- 25:37that God has always preserved freedom and the power of self government in man,
- 25:42while at the same time he issued his own exhortations in order that those who
- 25:48do not obey him should be righteously judged and even condemned because they have not
- 25:53obeyed him, and those who have obeyed him and believe on him should be
- 26:00hundred with immortality. It's really important, especially in this day and time.
- 26:07You know, I mentioned yesterday how very often our Torah observant brothers and sisters,
- 26:15and our Seven day Adventist brothers and sisters who do not claim communion with
- 26:22us. Obviously, they say we're going to hell because we go to church
- 26:25on Sunday and that the popacy Antichrist and we worship the devil. We try
- 26:32to look at them more charitably. We cannot deny that they are very fervent
- 26:37in their belief, very pious, and they are actually trying with all their
- 26:41mind's, heart and souls to do what they believe is right. They do
- 26:48this because, you know, they didn't pay attention to the eunuch and the
- 26:52Bible, who, when reading the scripture said how can I understand it when
- 26:56I have no one to explain it to me. They believe that they can
- 27:00understand it, and they get kind of stuck in the Old Testament and don't
- 27:03get to the New Testament. They don't read apparently all the chapters where Saint
- 27:10Paul is saying, no, Christians are no longer the law. Christians are
- 27:12no longer under the law. We don't follow the law anymore. We are
- 27:17no longer slaves to the law. We are free, and we are heirs
- 27:21in Christ. Jesus, who took on the penalty all the penalty of the
- 27:25law suffered. Now the law died with him. He was resurrecting on Sunday.
- 27:30We're now Sunday people in a new religion, totally freed from the law.
- 27:36Here Saint Irenaeus is explaining specifically that the law was given to the Jews
- 27:41in the desert, not before, and we'll get into that tomorrow. You
- 27:45know, Abraham wasn't under the law. Moses wasn't under the law. There
- 27:51was no circumcision or sabbaths for Abraham and Moses, and yet they were deemed
- 27:56righteous by God. It was only abraham descendants who would be circumcised. He
- 28:03was deemed righteous before the law of circumcision came into place. God gave these
- 28:11complex, hard to follow, stringent laws to force a stiff necked people into
- 28:21obedience. They still rejected and killed the prophets and could not understand Jesus who
- 28:29said, what's necessary for salvation? What parts of the law are important?
- 28:34Love God when your entire, your whole heart, love your neighbors, yourself,
- 28:37don't you're not steal to not commit adultry, see it. I mean
- 28:42a couple others. You know, no idol worship, obviously, but he
- 28:45didn't talk about Sabbaths, and he didn't talk about circumcision, and he didn't
- 28:51talk about dietary laws. And quite specifically, and again we'll get to this
- 28:56tomorrow, the authors of the New Testament, it said, no longer do
- 29:00they follow the Jewish holidays, you know, the passover Yam kapoor is what
- 29:07we're in right now, right, et cetera. Or sabbaths. They no
- 29:12longer honor the Jewish Sabbath, nor the dietary laws. They ate pork,
- 29:18they ate shellfish, nor the cleanliness laws of handwashing, not associating with gentiles,
- 29:22not touching dead bodies. All that was done away. And I will
- 29:33tell you this, having had many debates with our Torah observant and seven day
- 29:38adminis and etcetera. Fringe Christians who are very good and very pious and love
- 29:45God with their whole arts, but very confused. You can read the plain
- 29:52words of the Bible to them, they will twist the words and turn in
- 29:56to fit their beliefs. You cannot get them read the early church fathers.
- 30:02They reject them. You could say, look, this is what the first
- 30:06Christians. Here's the DDK. It was actually written by the twelve the Apostles.
- 30:11They won't read it. A very rare one might, and that one
- 30:15will probably be open to conversion. You can do whatever you want. The
- 30:25only way you're going to convince these people is through example. Be a better
- 30:33Christian. What I mean, be a better Christian. How can you be
- 30:36a better Christian someone that tries to live so stringently by the Bible. Well,
- 30:40Jesus said, those who love me will keep my commandments, strive for
- 30:47holiness, lived by the Bible and the Catechism, the teachings of the Church,
- 30:52holy tradition, sacred tradition. I guess I should say, receive the
- 30:56sacraments and let the love of God and the Holy Spirit radiate from you,
- 31:02and be the person they aspire to be. It's the only way such people
- 31:07are going to be converted, because theirs is not an intellectual belief. It's
- 31:18very emotional. You cannot argue with emotion. I think every man who's ever
- 31:25tried to argue with a woman would agree. Remember this, the uncensored Catholic
- 31:30I can be a little politically incorrect. Men do not ever win arguments with
- 31:34women. Why not because one's right and the other's wrong, but because women
- 31:38argue from a place of emotion and men argue from a place of logic.
- 31:44Ideally, every now and then you do meet a very logical woman, and
- 31:48there their jewel. They're an absolute wonderful gem, and they're very rare.
- 31:56Far too often, though, you, especially in this day in age,
- 32:00when people are poorly educated and not taught logic and rationality, you end up
- 32:06arguing with emotional men, and they're absolutely worthless. An emotional man, a
- 32:15man who thinks as a woman, is not a man and has no worth
- 32:24in society. He is not fulfilling the role God gave him. I'm saying
- 32:30a poet. A poet can be sensitive, or an artist, or even
- 32:35just a normal man who tears up when his kid or his grandkid does something
- 32:40or his dog dies. Okay, yeah, men can be emotional. Men
- 32:45should be emotional. But God made man to be logical and reasonable. God
- 32:52made woman to be emotional, and it's a great bonus if she's also logical.
- 32:58Sorry if that offends you, but we'll get into that someday. There's
- 33:02actually a lot of writing by you know, great saints and doctors of the
- 33:08church on ginger roles, and they're quite politically incorrect these days. Just reading
- 33:15the other day and Father Sparago's book, and yeah, he would really make
- 33:21a lot of feminists very angry, but you know that's the way God made
- 33:30us. So anyway, we're going to have to bring these people back into
- 33:37the fold. And because they do love God so much that they will separate
- 33:44themselves from society. There are a lot of my friends who are preppers who
- 33:46are fall into this category. It's going to take example, it's going to
- 33:53take You're gonna have to be the Christian they want to be. You're going
- 34:00to have to be a living saint because you're not getting through them with logic
- 34:07or facts or history. It's just not going to happen. Prayer, a
- 34:14lot of prayer, especially to the blessed Virgin Mary for their conversion, will
- 34:19be efficacious. But you go back to the Sirac. I believe it is
- 34:25syric. Is he a wisdom of Siric? I believe it was Sirac who
- 34:30said, why you really should not argue with certain people. It's not in
- 34:39another you know, another book. It's just casting your pearls before swine.
- 34:44He said not to argue with a fool. Actually, you know, it's
- 34:50one of those controversial words in the Bible. Does said call no man a
- 34:52fool? And then just a few sentences later he's saying, you fool,
- 34:57You're very life will be required of you tonight. Well, Si I said,
- 35:00do not argue with a fool, because he will rail and laugh in
- 35:04your face, and you're just wasting your breath. Some people will only come
- 35:10to conversion through example when they see that you are more filled with the spirit,
- 35:17which you will be if you're in community with the Catholic Church. You
- 35:20eat and drink the body and blood of Christ, and without that you have
- 35:24no wife in you. They're gonna want to find out why, what makes
- 35:30you who you are? You know, when you suffer insults and you don't
- 35:35respond in kind, that's hard? Boy? Is that hard for a big
- 35:39old hillbilly like me? You know kind of a John Wayne type by nature.
- 35:46When you're loyal and you know everyone else is being divorced three and four
- 35:51and five times, and you marry once for life and raise a good family.
- 35:54When they see you sacrifice for your kids, when they see your kids
- 35:59are better behaved and more knowledgeable than their kids, when they see the gentleness
- 36:06of spirit that only comes through through God, through the Holy Spirit, the
- 36:12love of Christ. That that's how you'll convert such people, such people who
- 36:22probably know the words of the Bible better than you know them, but do
- 36:25not understand them. When they see that understanding and they see you living out
- 36:37the love of God, the Christian truth, then and only then are they
- 36:45going to come along. And until then, yeah, they're probably going to
- 36:50look down on you. I insult you think they know much better than you
- 36:57do. When you know you're a lot smart and more educated and learned and
- 37:01knowledgeable than they are, They're gonna mock you. That's exactly what it said
- 37:07in see Iraq. But just hold true of the faith. Just remember the
- 37:14other You know, those who endure to the end will be saved. Remember
- 37:22the parable Jesus gave of the seeds sown. You know, Some seeds are
- 37:28sown in fertile ground. Some seeds are sown in rocky paths. Some shoot
- 37:32up and they're full of vigor, and then they die back. And I'm
- 37:37afraid that's what many of our Evangelical Protestant brothers and sisters will experience. They
- 37:43will shoot up, full of vigor and vibrance, and then the heat of
- 37:46the sun will just dry him up. Because there's only one church, there's
- 37:51only one truth, and there's only one truth church that's going to stand to
- 37:53the end of time is guaranteed by Jesus. So it's hard. It's supposed
- 38:00to be hard. Jesus said it would be hard once again. That's a
- 38:08sign you're on the right path, all right. Go in the words of
- 38:13Saint Pasri Pio, pray, hope and don't worry, and I will talk
- 38:15to you. Tomorro
