- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Benn and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with her radio. Welcome to a very special episode of
- 0:07Speaker 1: the almost Famous podcast that will either get me fired
- 0:10Speaker 1: or be a massive success. We want to start this
- 0:13Speaker 1: out by saying thank you to Uber Eats for bringing
- 0:15Speaker 1: us on an amazing boy's trip to the Monterey Peninsula.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I said that, right, Wells, is that the right thing?
- 0:21Speaker 1: I'm here with Wells Adams and Andrew Firestone. Chris Harrison
- 0:25Speaker 1: is playing golf with us um as well out here,
- 0:28Speaker 1: and it's gonna be a great trip. Andrew, for those
- 0:31Speaker 1: who do not know you, can you explain who you are?
- 0:38Speaker 1: I am a very average golfer. Let's set that out there.
- 0:41Speaker 1: I was. I was on the Bachelor when you guys
- 0:43Speaker 1: were in diapers, um years ago. I was in two
- 0:47Speaker 1: thousand and three. I was the third Bachelor to uh
- 0:51Speaker 1: to be on TV way back in the day, the
- 0:55Speaker 1: third Bachelor, Third Bachelor. What years at two thousand three? Wait,
- 0:58Speaker 1: I have a question because I feel it's different than
- 1:01Speaker 1: it used to be. Uh so well, because you you'd
- 1:05Speaker 1: go on the bach Sorrette and then the guy that
- 1:06Speaker 1: got his heart broken the most a k A. Ben
- 1:10Speaker 1: gets to be the Bachelor if that didn't happen, So
- 1:12Speaker 1: that that was a big, big difference. So when I
- 1:14Speaker 1: was on The Bachelor, it was a surprise, so it
- 1:17Speaker 1: was like nobody knew who I was, Like the girls
- 1:20Speaker 1: didn't know who was going to be there when they
- 1:22Speaker 1: opened up the limo door. Um, and I was sequestered
- 1:25Speaker 1: for weeks or a couple of weeks ahead of time,
- 1:28Speaker 1: and uh, it was it was a total mystery. And
- 1:32Speaker 1: that's that's a lot of pressure because all these girls
- 1:34Speaker 1: are opening to the door and I'm like, oh god,
- 1:38Speaker 1: what I mean, I'm not looking at them they're looking
- 1:39Speaker 1: at me right because they're like they're they're like I
- 1:42Speaker 1: could see some faces like damn it, like oh this
- 1:45Speaker 1: is the guy, Like like they have a vision in
- 1:47Speaker 1: their head who's gonna be and might not have been me. Well,
- 1:51Speaker 1: the what the hardest thing about that show is is
- 1:54Speaker 1: convincing the audience that that it's justified for all of
- 1:58Speaker 1: these beautiful women who all want this one guy. And
- 2:03Speaker 1: so it's got to be like the pressure has gotta
- 2:05Speaker 1: be ratcheted up because no one knows who you are.
- 2:08Speaker 1: So then you're like, are you having to sell yourself
- 2:10Speaker 1: being like well I have a million dollars and uh,
- 2:13Speaker 1: I'm hung like a exactly like a donkey. Look at this, um,
- 2:19Speaker 1: look at it. No, no, but but but so okay,
- 2:23Speaker 1: I'll tell you. I mean quite frankly, one thing that happened.
- 2:25Speaker 1: So it was like the second Rose Ceremony. And even
- 2:28Speaker 1: before it goes, one of the girls just said, like,
- 2:31Speaker 1: you know, I'm just this isn't for me. And you
- 2:33Speaker 1: know what her excuse was, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were
- 2:37Speaker 1: in the super Bowl and she wanted to go to
- 2:38Speaker 1: the game. I swear to God because I filmed in
- 2:41Speaker 1: January of two thousand three. Look who's in the super Bowl?
- 2:43Speaker 1: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And literally that was she walked
- 2:48Speaker 1: she walked off. So you guys, you ben had it
- 2:51Speaker 1: better because at least they knew who you were. You
- 2:53Speaker 1: know how people leave voluntarily within three weeks. But that's
- 2:56Speaker 1: that's that up. They Bachelor took it to the two
- 3:02Speaker 1: yard line. You can score, but like, but it was
- 3:05Speaker 1: that was a huge thing. And and actually, um, Chris
- 3:09Speaker 1: Harrison was one of the only people that I knew
- 3:10Speaker 1: ahead of time on the show, and we spent some
- 3:13Speaker 1: time together and I could tell he was a little
- 3:15Speaker 1: nervous that I was going to be the captain of
- 3:16Speaker 1: this ship for for this show. But this was so
- 3:19Speaker 1: early on in um you know, in reality TV that
- 3:24Speaker 1: it was such an experiment, and to see a guy
- 3:27Speaker 1: and a girl kiss without a script on TV was like,
- 3:31Speaker 1: like it was mind blowing. And and the way I
- 3:33Speaker 1: describe it all was, it's like back then, it was
- 3:35Speaker 1: like a little fender bender. If we're driving along, you
- 3:37Speaker 1: see a fender bender, you'll stop and take a look.
- 3:39Speaker 1: If you've seen a hundred fender benders, you need it's
- 3:41Speaker 1: not interesting anymore. Back then that was like a little
- 3:44Speaker 1: fender bender. The show today is way more dramatic and
- 3:48Speaker 1: it has a lot more stuff going on. You guys
- 3:50Speaker 1: dates that you guys go on. I went bowling on
- 3:52Speaker 1: one of my I'm not joking. I went bowling on
- 3:55Speaker 1: one of my dates. That's you know that that that
- 3:58Speaker 1: was the budget back then. UM. I want to pause
- 4:01Speaker 1: here and say, speaking of kissing, you and Wells know
- 4:05Speaker 1: each other from the past, and I don't know this story,
- 4:08Speaker 1: so weird preamble, let's get commercial. Speaking of making out,
- 4:14Speaker 1: we can hear anyway. Last night at dinner, I asked, Hey,
- 4:20Speaker 1: how do you two know each other? How are you
- 4:23Speaker 1: familiar with each other? And you said, We're gonna wait
- 4:24Speaker 1: for the podcast to Mars, I've been waiting to ask
- 4:26Speaker 1: this question, how do you two know each other? Because
- 4:29Speaker 1: then we got a video this morning of Wells showing
- 4:32Speaker 1: a picture of Okay, let me, I'll tell you. So
- 4:37Speaker 1: stuff starting to make sense. We made Wells and his
- 4:40Speaker 1: beautiful bride to be a couple of years ago at
- 4:43Speaker 1: an event. Uh We're there with Chris and Um. And
- 4:47Speaker 1: that was the first time that I thought that I
- 4:49Speaker 1: had met him. And I was doing and on the
- 4:52Speaker 1: on the drive up Chris picked me up and to
- 4:54Speaker 1: drive up here to yesterday, and I was asking about Wells.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I knew I know you a bit, but He's like, yeah,
- 5:00Speaker 1: he's from he's from Carmel and he's from up here.
- 5:02Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god, I must know him from
- 5:04Speaker 1: back in the day. So Wells walks in when the
- 5:07Speaker 1: lobby sitting down before dinner, and Wells walks up and
- 5:11Speaker 1: Um and I'm starting to like kind of like ask
- 5:13Speaker 1: him a little probe questions and he looked me dead
- 5:15Speaker 1: in the eye and he goes, do you remember Whitney
- 5:21Speaker 1: Adams And like my jaw on the floor. I'm like, well, yeah,
- 5:24Speaker 1: I mean, like you, how do you know Whitney Adams
- 5:27Speaker 1: And I'm then my slow brain starts working and I'm like,
- 5:30Speaker 1: wells Adams, Holy crap. I took his sister to a
- 5:37Speaker 1: prom when I was a freshman in high school. You know,
- 5:42Speaker 1: she's the same age. But there is a I have
- 5:45Speaker 1: a I have a photo to this day, and I
- 5:47Speaker 1: wish I would have. I mean, I didn't know to
- 5:48Speaker 1: bring it, but at that point, I was like five
- 5:51Speaker 1: ft four and feathered hair, and I'm I'm arms around her.
- 5:56Speaker 1: You can't see this on radio, but like I'm doing
- 5:58Speaker 1: the awkward like trying to put my around her shoulders
- 6:01Speaker 1: like cocked over to the side. And I also know
- 6:05Speaker 1: your older brother, Brett. So it's funny because when the
- 6:10Speaker 1: first season of The Batch Driver watched was Andrew season.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Because my family is like, we know him, we totally
- 6:17Speaker 1: know him. And so I had heard the story, but
- 6:22Speaker 1: I wasn't sure if it was true. So I asked Brett,
- 6:26Speaker 1: and so we're from this area, we're from Carmel, but
- 6:29Speaker 1: you're not from here. You're from from Santa Barbara. But but
- 6:32Speaker 1: but I was going to school up here, but there's
- 6:33Speaker 1: a there's a high school here that you can It's
- 6:36Speaker 1: a boarding school, but it also has day students. So
- 6:38Speaker 1: my brother was a day student and Uh Andrew was
- 6:42Speaker 1: a border. And so the way that my brother tells
- 6:44Speaker 1: a story is that when you have um, you know,
- 6:48Speaker 1: kids from out of town living in the high school,
- 6:51Speaker 1: they take the day student older kids and team them
- 6:55Speaker 1: up with the younger borders um to kind of show
- 6:59Speaker 1: them the ropes and show around and make him feel comfortable.
- 7:01Speaker 1: So my brother, Brett of whom you know ben Uh
- 7:06Speaker 1: was his big brother and at school, and so my
- 7:10Speaker 1: sister needed a date to I guess the prom or
- 7:12Speaker 1: Sadie Hawkins or something. And so my brother was like,
- 7:15Speaker 1: you need to go with my sister to this dance.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And so I never knew that the story was true.
- 7:21Speaker 1: So last night when we got together, I was like,
- 7:24Speaker 1: I think, you know, like my family, UM, I don't
- 7:28Speaker 1: know if this is true, but like, did you take
- 7:29Speaker 1: my sister to prom? And you took me? I thought?
- 7:33Speaker 1: He was like it was like it was like a punchline,
- 7:35Speaker 1: like do you take my sister prom? But his but
- 7:39Speaker 1: his older brother, he was a senior when I was
- 7:40Speaker 1: a freshman was so kind to me, and and you
- 7:43Speaker 1: know he had yeah, but but he had to play
- 7:46Speaker 1: the role of big brother to a you know, to
- 7:48Speaker 1: a to a freshman. But he was super kind to me.
- 7:50Speaker 1: And he was also like one of thost popular guys
- 7:52Speaker 1: in school. So I had kind of a free pass,
- 7:54Speaker 1: you know for a while. Like I was able to
- 7:55Speaker 1: kind of hang out a little bit with my sister,
- 7:59Speaker 1: No no, no, and and you guys hang out after
- 8:01Speaker 1: prom withne and and yeah, I mean I a little
- 8:05Speaker 1: bit here and there. But she went to a different school.
- 8:07Speaker 1: She went to another school here in town. Um. But
- 8:10Speaker 1: but that was the first dance I'd ever like, the
- 8:13Speaker 1: first formal thing I've ever gone to my life. I
- 8:15Speaker 1: got like a corsage and the whole nine yards. And
- 8:18Speaker 1: I must have met you because I came to your
- 8:20Speaker 1: house to pick to pick her up and we had
- 8:23Speaker 1: I mean, I had dinner there or something. But your
- 8:25Speaker 1: family was so kind to me. And I was so
- 8:27Speaker 1: awkward and so nervous and um, and the picture really
- 8:31Speaker 1: speaks to that about how awkward I actually. I still
- 8:34Speaker 1: I am a little bit, but but was certainly back then.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I have a very uh naive question. So when you're boarding,
- 8:41Speaker 1: when you're you're living out here, your families in Santa Barbara,
- 8:44Speaker 1: you have a dance like this, Like when I had
- 8:46Speaker 1: to dance like this, my mom when I was in
- 8:48Speaker 1: high school would go out help me pick out my tugs,
- 8:50Speaker 1: my soup, the flowers, walked me through the process, make
- 8:54Speaker 1: sure everything was good. The girls show up or I
- 8:56Speaker 1: go over there, my mom would be there, my dad
- 8:57Speaker 1: would be there. The parents kind of like coach you
- 9:00Speaker 1: into this dating world when you're out here, Like, did
- 9:03Speaker 1: you have to find a way and figure out a
- 9:05Speaker 1: way to get all those yourself? Yeah, it's a little
- 9:08Speaker 1: it's a you kind of have to be uh fairly
- 9:11Speaker 1: self sufficient from a very young I mean I was
- 9:14Speaker 1: doing my laundry, you know, not that that's crazy thing
- 9:17Speaker 1: to do, but like you're taking care of everything on
- 9:19Speaker 1: your own, and whether that's you know, your studies or
- 9:23Speaker 1: just like normal everyday life, but a lot of stuff
- 9:26Speaker 1: you're kind of learning on the fly and um and
- 9:29Speaker 1: luckily there are a lot of other guys, older people
- 9:31Speaker 1: there at the school that you can kind of look
- 9:33Speaker 1: up to and ask questions. But like you know, they
- 9:35Speaker 1: have a thumber ride to go down and get a corsage,
- 9:37Speaker 1: the date to take Whitney. You know, like there's there
- 9:40Speaker 1: was like a bunch of things that you had to
- 9:41Speaker 1: be a little bit. You had a little bit scheming
- 9:43Speaker 1: to pull off. That's super interesting. So wait it comes
- 9:47Speaker 1: even more. We can kind of put a pin in
- 9:50Speaker 1: this after it. So and I told you this the
- 9:52Speaker 1: last time I was on your podcast when we were
- 9:54Speaker 1: actually recording in Monterey. Uh was the way that I
- 9:58Speaker 1: got on The Bachelor was because my brother was actually
- 10:02Speaker 1: approached by a casting director. The fact that my brother
- 10:05Speaker 1: was Andrew Firestone's big brother who then became the Bachelor,
- 10:10Speaker 1: was also you know, hit up by a casting director
- 10:14Speaker 1: to be on the show. He turned it down. Then
- 10:16Speaker 1: I went on the show. I think is it's yeah,
- 10:20Speaker 1: schools some good looking people on it. Then, yeah, I
- 10:23Speaker 1: mean you and Brett both, you know, you've got it
- 10:25Speaker 1: going on. Who's better looking? That's a good question. I
- 10:29Speaker 1: mean you're canna answer it. I think it's a good question.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I think that you're better looking than him now, but
- 10:37Speaker 1: I think he had you maybe like tenures his model pictures.
- 10:41Speaker 1: He had a great head a lettis letna tell you what, like,
- 10:45Speaker 1: Like his hair flow was so good. I haven't seen
- 10:48Speaker 1: him in a thousand years, but back then, like he
- 10:50Speaker 1: was definitely a ladies man. He he had so many
- 10:53Speaker 1: girlfriends and cute girls were always falling him around. So
- 10:55Speaker 1: I was like, dude, I want to do that. I
- 10:57Speaker 1: want to be that guy that well, um a little
- 11:00Speaker 1: bit too to explain why we're all out here, um,
- 11:04Speaker 1: you know. And I waited to tell you this, Andrew,
- 11:06Speaker 1: but when I first met you was at Jaden Tanner's wedding.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Uh Chris, who um, I really love. He kind of
- 11:15Speaker 1: walked me. He was like my big brother. I felt
- 11:17Speaker 1: like through this whole weird process, right, I mean said
- 11:19Speaker 1: to many times. I was twenty five years old. I
- 11:21Speaker 1: had no clue what I was doing in this world.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I still don't, um, but he kind of like put
- 11:26Speaker 1: me under his wing and would take me around and
- 11:28Speaker 1: introduce me to people. And one of the weirdest things
- 11:31Speaker 1: for me was I always felt like, and and this
- 11:34Speaker 1: is is no bs towards you, Like Andrew Firestone deserves
- 11:37Speaker 1: to be the bachelor, right like it's he's he's a stud,
- 11:40Speaker 1: he gets it. I watched these guys in the past,
- 11:42Speaker 1: like they all understand more than I do. And I
- 11:44Speaker 1: just kind of got thrown into it. Well, we go
- 11:45Speaker 1: to Jaden Tanner's wedding and Chris says, hey, how about
- 11:47Speaker 1: you come golf with Andrew and I and so we
- 11:50Speaker 1: do that and I was really fresh. I think I
- 11:51Speaker 1: was maybe still filming or just after filming when this,
- 11:54Speaker 1: when this wedding happened, and you were very kind, very funny,
- 12:01Speaker 1: very much made me at ease. And I've told everybody
- 12:03Speaker 1: listening to this podcast many times, well, the only reasons
- 12:06Speaker 1: I was able to do the show and have any
- 12:08Speaker 1: type of enjoyment was because I saw guys do it
- 12:10Speaker 1: before me and go, Okay, if they can do what,
- 12:12Speaker 1: I can do it too. Like he's not he doesn't
- 12:15Speaker 1: like walk on water. He's a great dude, normal dude,
- 12:17Speaker 1: a fun dude. And uh, and that's why you know,
- 12:20Speaker 1: it's great to get back out here play Pebble Beach today.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Um again, thanks uber eats for doing that. Uh, it's
- 12:26Speaker 1: a big deal. And here's a funny uber each story.
- 12:28Speaker 1: As I continue to so I fly in last night.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I've been looking forward to this trip for a long time. Um.
- 12:35Speaker 1: I I golf with Wells quite a bit. I haven't
- 12:37Speaker 1: seen Chris in a while. I was really excited to
- 12:40Speaker 1: get to hang out with you again, Andrew. Uh. And
- 12:42Speaker 1: we're playing Pebble Beach come on, like one of the
- 12:44Speaker 1: best places in the world on a beautiful day, too gorgeous.
- 12:47Speaker 1: And so I fly in last night from Denver and
- 12:49Speaker 1: I'm standing at baggage claim. My bag doesn't come. And
- 12:53Speaker 1: in this bag has my golf bag, my clubs, my shoes,
- 12:56Speaker 1: all of my clothes for the weekend, all of my toiletries,
- 12:59Speaker 1: every thing possible. I packed it all into this travel
- 13:01Speaker 1: golf bag and it doesn't come. Called the airline and
- 13:05Speaker 1: uh and they said, oh, you're bag still in l A.
- 13:07Speaker 1: It's not going to get here until eleven o'clock the
- 13:11Speaker 1: next day. So today still not here. So as a result,
- 13:15Speaker 1: thanks super Eats for making sure that I have my toiletries,
- 13:18Speaker 1: I have all of the snacks I need, any of
- 13:20Speaker 1: the food I need, any of the drink we need.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Fooder Eats really saved the day. So this has been
- 13:25Speaker 1: a great trip. Not only come out here with you all,
- 13:27Speaker 1: but to have them make sure that I am the organized.
- 13:30Speaker 1: The fact that your bag got lost, maybe just to
- 13:33Speaker 1: like just to crush this whole thing. And like the
- 13:35Speaker 1: day Yeah. The only thing that I didn't get delivered
- 13:38Speaker 1: is my golf clubs, but I still believe they're gonna
- 13:40Speaker 1: be coming. Um. All right, So I want to start
- 13:45Speaker 1: today talking a little bit about golf. We're not going
- 13:47Speaker 1: to dive into it too much because I don't think
- 13:49Speaker 1: anybody out here really cares. But there's a question that
- 13:52Speaker 1: is is haunting everybody here. Who is the best golfer
- 13:55Speaker 1: in the group. And let's throw Chris into this um.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Who is the in Europe inion? Who was the best
- 14:01Speaker 1: golfer in this group? So I played golf yesterday with Chris,
- 14:05Speaker 1: and he shot a seventy six. I don't think he
- 14:07Speaker 1: wants anyone to know that because he has to post
- 14:09Speaker 1: that score, which will screw up his handicap. But he
- 14:11Speaker 1: was rushing the ball yesterday. By the way, a very
- 14:15Speaker 1: very difficult golf course uh NPC Monterey Peninsula Country Club.
- 14:20Speaker 1: And I can tell you a heart because I was there.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I was playing, and it was a abject disaster. I
- 14:26Speaker 1: mean it was just a mess, spraying balls left right
- 14:29Speaker 1: and center, Chili dipping off the t it was. It
- 14:32Speaker 1: was a mess. Chris was puring it. I played with
- 14:34Speaker 1: you also been years ago and uh, and you you're
- 14:37Speaker 1: a very good golfer, but it's been a while, so
- 14:40Speaker 1: you know, and you're also married, so usually that there's
- 14:42Speaker 1: a decline in your skills. Not at all. He's playing
- 14:45Speaker 1: golf a lot good. Well then maybe just falling apart.
- 14:51Speaker 1: But I haven't played with with Wells here, but I
- 14:54Speaker 1: hear that that he hits it very, very long. So
- 14:57Speaker 1: it's gonna be fun for me just to watch you
- 14:59Speaker 1: guys playing in compete and I'll just be there having
- 15:02Speaker 1: fun eating snacks. Yeah, that was a long diet tribe
- 15:05Speaker 1: to say I'm the worst. I'm the worst, Okay, so
- 15:07Speaker 1: I'll see it right now. I think I think Chris
- 15:09Speaker 1: is the best golf for the group right now. That
- 15:11Speaker 1: feels like a game. It feels like a game. Proved
- 15:14Speaker 1: me wrong. Ladies, come on, the best, the best is.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I believe that Chris is sitting on the side right now,
- 15:19Speaker 1: like this is the one conversation the day. I want
- 15:21Speaker 1: to join into eating him out now. But he's gonna
- 15:30Speaker 1: have a hard time because we just went on a
- 15:31Speaker 1: trip and uh, seven out of ten times Wells beats
- 15:36Speaker 1: me at golf. I told you this last night. Um
- 15:39Speaker 1: in Utah, just a few weeks ago I did beat
- 15:42Speaker 1: Wells straight up, and so today is kind of like
- 15:45Speaker 1: that that to really figure out where we're at in
- 15:47Speaker 1: our game. To answer your question, I do think Chris
- 15:51Speaker 1: is the best golfer of the group. He's the most consistent.
- 15:54Speaker 1: That there's an argument also, uh, the thing that I
- 15:58Speaker 1: guess everybody in trouble and golf his nerves, and I
- 16:01Speaker 1: think that he's able to regulate his nerves better than
- 16:03Speaker 1: any of us. For now. Yes, I think that I
- 16:07Speaker 1: can have days where I can I can beat everybody,
- 16:10Speaker 1: but my vote is for for Mr Harris. I also
- 16:13Speaker 1: will put the vote behind that too, because I believe
- 16:15Speaker 1: right now in his head he's like Wow, everybody believes
- 16:18Speaker 1: him a good golfer, and he's gonna get on that
- 16:20Speaker 1: first tea today and shake it. Hey, we're gonna take
- 16:21Speaker 1: a break when we come back. We're gonna come back,
- 16:25Speaker 1: talk more about the trip, talk more, um about a
- 16:29Speaker 1: story I have from my honeymoon that I've never shared
- 16:31Speaker 1: on the podcast that you guys found really funny last night.
- 16:35Speaker 1: That's a great that's a great tease. Um, We'll be back.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Thanks again for Uber Eats for setting up this amazing
- 16:40Speaker 1: trip to the Monterey Peninsula. I shared a story last
- 16:53Speaker 1: night at dinner and every goes you've got us share
- 16:56Speaker 1: this on the podcast, and I, uh, I'm excited to.
- 17:01Speaker 1: It's a hard one to explain this. There's a lot
- 17:03Speaker 1: of visuals to this, um that are necessary. I'm sure
- 17:06Speaker 1: at this point people, you know, my mom and everybody
- 17:09Speaker 1: else has turned off the podcast, like we don't know
- 17:10Speaker 1: what we're getting into. Um, okay, So anyways, here's the storm.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna try to explain it the best I can. Uh.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Jessica and I went to St. Bart's for our honeymoon.
- 17:20Speaker 1: And the reason this story came up last night is
- 17:22Speaker 1: because I'm a big fan of blue cheese stuffed olives
- 17:26Speaker 1: and I love them in a good martini, not a
- 17:30Speaker 1: dirty martine, just straight up martini. And we land in St.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Barts a like eight o'clock. We go right to our resort.
- 17:35Speaker 1: It's a great resort um in St. Bart's um, but
- 17:39Speaker 1: it's a French speaking island and late at night. Uh,
- 17:43Speaker 1: you know, there's not a lot of staff around. Uh,
- 17:45Speaker 1: there's just a few people in the restaurant. And we
- 17:46Speaker 1: sit down there like you have thirty minutes of order
- 17:48Speaker 1: I said, great. So all I want right now is
- 17:50Speaker 1: a blue cheese stuffed olive martini, so I asked for it.
- 17:53Speaker 1: The waiter, who did not speak English, because it is
- 17:56Speaker 1: not in English speaking island for the most part, there's
- 17:59Speaker 1: a lot of them down there, goes, looks at me, goes,
- 18:01Speaker 1: I have no clue what you're talking about, like pretty
- 18:03Speaker 1: much just confusion. I don't know what the blue cheese
- 18:05Speaker 1: stuffed all of this, And so I I said okay,
- 18:09Speaker 1: and he goes, let me get uh somebody, the smally
- 18:14Speaker 1: so as a result, and I the Smalley walks up
- 18:18Speaker 1: and said, can you have any blue cheese stuff olives?
- 18:19Speaker 1: And I make like a circle like like what I
- 18:22Speaker 1: thought was like an olive with my hand, you know,
- 18:24Speaker 1: like your you put your index finger and your thumb together,
- 18:26Speaker 1: okay symbol, like an okay symbol. And I take my
- 18:29Speaker 1: other hand and I give my index finger in my
- 18:32Speaker 1: middle finger and I start like doing the sign where
- 18:34Speaker 1: you like you're pushing stuffing. And the Smalley gets really confused,
- 18:38Speaker 1: I don't know why, and walks away and says, I'm
- 18:40Speaker 1: gonna get my manager. So I'm sitting there, I'm still
- 18:43Speaker 1: going do you have any blue cheese stuffed, all of
- 18:45Speaker 1: them saying it very slow, like they're gonna understand it
- 18:46Speaker 1: if I speak slower, which is a very terrible thing
- 18:49Speaker 1: to do. And I'm still stuffing my fingers at the
- 18:52Speaker 1: same time, the manager goes, I need to get my
- 18:55Speaker 1: like GM of the hotel you contain. He goes, I here,
- 18:57Speaker 1: we have a problem here, and he's spoken elish. I said,
- 19:00Speaker 1: I don't know there's a problem, and my and my
- 19:02Speaker 1: wife suddenly catches on. It goes, no, you have a
- 19:06Speaker 1: big problem. Then you've literally just asked every single person
- 19:09Speaker 1: that comes up here. You've just signaled to them if
- 19:12Speaker 1: you're down, if you have anything stuffed, you have anything stuff.
- 19:16Speaker 1: The GM finally goes, oh, we don't have any blue stuff,
- 19:21Speaker 1: but we can't make your martini. That is the story. Um,
- 19:26Speaker 1: it's still today what Jessica does when like things get awkward,
- 19:28Speaker 1: when I say something stupid, she just does the little
- 19:30Speaker 1: stuffing signs that just to remind me um of of
- 19:38Speaker 1: how weird I am. Yeah, and and also how the French,
- 19:43Speaker 1: uh do different hand signals for that? Yeah, well the
- 19:47Speaker 1: Americans do this. This means this as a very young age,
- 19:54Speaker 1: I think that's a pretty explanatory Yeah, I hope, I
- 19:56Speaker 1: hope that. What I love about that is that there
- 19:58Speaker 1: are waiters and small as that thought that this six
- 20:01Speaker 1: four hunk of a man was like, hey, do you
- 20:03Speaker 1: want to go in the back room on the first
- 20:07Speaker 1: night of your honeymoon? They were like, wow, they all
- 20:10Speaker 1: swing us. I guess this guy was absolutely. I guarantee
- 20:17Speaker 1: the all spokes perfect English, like they're like this, just
- 20:21Speaker 1: check this out, check this out. This guy's just over there.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I was just I was not stopping, was not stopping
- 20:28Speaker 1: at all. Uh. And your question for you, do you
- 20:30Speaker 1: ever use Uber eats? Oh? Yeah, so, um, you know,
- 20:33Speaker 1: I have three kids, and um, you know it is
- 20:37Speaker 1: you know, this isn't any sort of advertisement for but
- 20:39Speaker 1: this is just a utilitarian thing that we use all
- 20:41Speaker 1: the time. And you know, half the time we've forgotten
- 20:44Speaker 1: something somewhere, we need a snack, some of the kids
- 20:46Speaker 1: are you know, milk for one of the kids, whatever
- 20:49Speaker 1: it is. And so it's actually super convenient in Santa
- 20:52Speaker 1: Barbara to go and and have you know, food delivered,
- 20:55Speaker 1: you know, have whatever delivered. Um, and uh, it's really quick.
- 20:58Speaker 1: So we and I'm very slow to adopt technology. My
- 21:01Speaker 1: wife was first using it. Now it's almost it's funny
- 21:04Speaker 1: like these things now become like kind of part of
- 21:07Speaker 1: your like everyday life, like you know, it's so much
- 21:10Speaker 1: more useful. It saves time so long way to say yes,
- 21:13Speaker 1: I wonder if you can get blue cheese stuffed olives.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I guarantee of uber heats. I almost can promise you that.
- 21:18Speaker 1: I mean, think about this stuff that we ordered in fact,
- 21:21Speaker 1: um it should be Oh, it's probably coming there and
- 21:24Speaker 1: I just saw Amy walk away. Um there's more coming today.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I mean we ordered everything, uh for for our trip.
- 21:31Speaker 1: We order some alcoholic Seltzer's. That's what I requested or
- 21:34Speaker 1: over to do that. But we all are one thing.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I noticed that that you put on your request list,
- 21:39Speaker 1: which I didn't know about you. But if you would
- 21:41Speaker 1: like the same kind of potato chip I do. I
- 21:43Speaker 1: know a lot of potato chips, yes, which I think
- 21:46Speaker 1: it's a very particular style. I mean, not like a
- 21:50Speaker 1: tortilla chip or like as like this is a something
- 21:53Speaker 1: very specific. So cheddar and sur cream is the way
- 21:55Speaker 1: to go. It is halapinia boy like a hallapenia. Yet
- 22:00Speaker 1: I don't like hell open, I don't like salton vinegar
- 22:02Speaker 1: like that, like I love salt. Now, I see I
- 22:03Speaker 1: can't do that. You know, the one thing that was
- 22:06Speaker 1: always told to me. I don't know if you agree
- 22:08Speaker 1: with this, but I know people listening, well, we'll understand.
- 22:11Speaker 1: There's a new chip out there that lebron Um has designed,
- 22:16Speaker 1: which is a Cheddar and Sarah cream Um chip with
- 22:19Speaker 1: spice added to it. There's a spicy noess to it.
- 22:22Speaker 1: When you open up, they taste fantastic. But when you
- 22:24Speaker 1: open up the bagga smells like feet. Have you ever
- 22:27Speaker 1: gotten that? So you know, I can't I can't have
- 22:30Speaker 1: a bad smell. Yeah, it's always told me. Okay, we're
- 22:36Speaker 1: gonna talk a little Bachelor here, Bachelor at Uh Andrew,
- 22:40Speaker 1: do you still watch the show? Uh? Yes, I do. Um,
- 22:44Speaker 1: But it's funny. I mean, so I want to talk
- 22:46Speaker 1: something Bachelor, not directly answering your question, but it's funny
- 22:49Speaker 1: how we're all sitting here together and you kind of
- 22:51Speaker 1: touched on it earlier. And there are literally hundreds and
- 22:55Speaker 1: hundreds of people, men and women that have gone through
- 22:57Speaker 1: the Bachelor over the years. But it's funny how, um,
- 23:01Speaker 1: you can create a relationship with somebody and it makes
- 23:05Speaker 1: that experience that much better and it lasts long, you know,
- 23:07Speaker 1: like and again, so Chris and I, um, you know,
- 23:11Speaker 1: when I was sequestered for all that time beforehand, and
- 23:14Speaker 1: I was, you know, I I didn't know anybody know
- 23:16Speaker 1: what I was doing. I didn't what the show is about.
- 23:19Speaker 1: And Chris took me out to lunch with with his
- 23:21Speaker 1: en wife Gwen and their two year old son at
- 23:24Speaker 1: that point, Joshua. And so we go out to lunch
- 23:27Speaker 1: and like, you know, he's trying to you know, kind
- 23:29Speaker 1: of figure me out, and I'm trying to figure him out.
- 23:31Speaker 1: And I remember this moment when his son, Joshua is
- 23:36Speaker 1: pinging me with French fries and I'm trying to keep
- 23:38Speaker 1: a straight face, and I've got nieces and nephews and
- 23:41Speaker 1: I've got lots of little kids in my life, and
- 23:43Speaker 1: I'm just like, I want to throw a French fry
- 23:45Speaker 1: back at him, but I'm not going to. But but
- 23:47Speaker 1: there was like this genuineness about that experience, and a
- 23:50Speaker 1: lot of The Bachelor's all, you know, it's it's TV,
- 23:52Speaker 1: and it's you know, it's it's edited and all that
- 23:54Speaker 1: kind of stuff, But there are so many real moments
- 23:56Speaker 1: where you actually developed these relationships, not just the not
- 24:00Speaker 1: as the men and the women, but like you like
- 24:02Speaker 1: like you find these friendships and it makes it not
- 24:05Speaker 1: only tolerable but enjoyable. And um and it's and you know,
- 24:10Speaker 1: it's not a fraternity or anything like that. It's just
- 24:12Speaker 1: you do develop these unique relationships that can last a
- 24:16Speaker 1: lifetime and um and I've had that with Christopher. It
- 24:19Speaker 1: will be twenty years that I was on the show,
- 24:22Speaker 1: uh next year, and we've remained great friends ever since.
- 24:25Speaker 1: And you know, I we met five years ago when
- 24:27Speaker 1: you when you do on the show. Yeah, but it
- 24:29Speaker 1: was and I didn't even know I met you him
- 24:31Speaker 1: here thirty years ago. Not true, Not true, not true.
- 24:38Speaker 1: But it's funny how it's this like it is this
- 24:41Speaker 1: this this group of people that that's that that somehow
- 24:44Speaker 1: you kind of find up you find a commonality in
- 24:45Speaker 1: a friendship. Well, it's you're you're exactly right, because you know,
- 24:48Speaker 1: Wells and I have been always spent a lot more
- 24:50Speaker 1: time this year together along with Dean. Um. Dean's around,
- 24:53Speaker 1: but you never know where he's at in the world. Um, typically,
- 24:56Speaker 1: but I doubt Wells and I other than personal um
- 25:02Speaker 1: stuff that we're trying to figure out have talked about
- 25:05Speaker 1: the Bachelor ever? Like I don't think it comes up.
- 25:09Speaker 1: And that's when you know, like you know, sometimes you
- 25:11Speaker 1: get around the group of people and like that's still
- 25:13Speaker 1: the thing that's discussed, or it's what are you doing next?
- 25:16Speaker 1: Or uh, you know, are you going on the next show?
- 25:18Speaker 1: And and uh, when you get a real friendship, you
- 25:21Speaker 1: start to enjoy the other person and you we've only
- 25:23Speaker 1: met through this weird experience that now we can all share.
- 25:26Speaker 1: And then going back to what I said earlier, it
- 25:28Speaker 1: was on that golf course thatt day with you that
- 25:30Speaker 1: I said, Okay, like Andrew's a good dude, Like he's
- 25:34Speaker 1: you know, he doesn't have he's not he's not a
- 25:36Speaker 1: weirdo that sold out for the fame of this. Like
- 25:38Speaker 1: he's just a good dude who thought it could be fun.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I can do this too now, which is I hope
- 25:42Speaker 1: it's a huge compliment to you. Was all right, we
- 25:45Speaker 1: can we can do this thing. Um. But also I
- 25:48Speaker 1: think you probably played golf with hundreds and hundreds of
- 25:50Speaker 1: people that have a connection to the Bachelor or whatever else,
- 25:54Speaker 1: and some people just kind of want to be near it. Somebody,
- 25:56Speaker 1: you know, want to want to talk about it, but
- 25:57Speaker 1: like you know, it's I mean, how else would I
- 25:59Speaker 1: know a guy from Indiana or how would you know
- 26:01Speaker 1: make this connection back with you know, persone, but the
- 26:08Speaker 1: guy that I that I knew but did stuff. Jeez,
- 26:11Speaker 1: this sister, Now I'm gonna describe it as that. But Sarah,
- 26:18Speaker 1: it's time Martini. No no, no, no, no, no no no,
- 26:22Speaker 1: we want some prisons. The the Andrew. I think everybody
- 26:28Speaker 1: here would be interested. Tell us more about this sequestering
- 26:31Speaker 1: that you did. Uh, that wasn't a thing. When I
- 26:34Speaker 1: was the bachelor, I got a phone call I showed
- 26:37Speaker 1: up to In fact that the back story to that
- 26:39Speaker 1: is I went to Honduras for a wedding. I came back,
- 26:42Speaker 1: uh from Honduras with a parasite that I had through
- 26:44Speaker 1: the whole time that people know about. I lost thirty
- 26:46Speaker 1: pounds when I was a bachelor. But I flew into
- 26:48Speaker 1: l A three days before we started, and everybody in
- 26:52Speaker 1: the world knew I was the bachelor at that point, right,
- 26:54Speaker 1: They knew where I was going to do, so you
- 26:55Speaker 1: were hidden. So yeah, so so nobody knew obviously that
- 26:58Speaker 1: I was on it. It was a big a secret
- 27:01Speaker 1: and uh, it was the the whole reveal. Back then,
- 27:04Speaker 1: it was that I was gonna come out on Good
- 27:05Speaker 1: Morning America and it was gonna say, this is the
- 27:08Speaker 1: next Bachelor, and so I there. I mean, I had
- 27:11Speaker 1: ad anonymity going into it. But then but then, you know, afterwards,
- 27:17Speaker 1: it was it was like, you know, all of a sudden,
- 27:18Speaker 1: the curtain had fallen, and it was a really weird thing. Um,
- 27:22Speaker 1: but it was there was all the secrecy about who
- 27:24Speaker 1: I was or whatever else. But there was a moment
- 27:27Speaker 1: on the show when one of our dates, we were
- 27:29Speaker 1: ice skating and Century Plaza, you know in l A.
- 27:33Speaker 1: It's the the ice skating rink down there part of
- 27:35Speaker 1: the year, and there's this huge kind of viewing deck.
- 27:38Speaker 1: And so there we were on a date and me
- 27:42Speaker 1: and this young lady we're ice skating, and back then,
- 27:45Speaker 1: you guys didn't have this, but like there was a
- 27:47Speaker 1: hot tub on every episode, like every time, like anything
- 27:51Speaker 1: happened on the hot tub, one on the hot tub,
- 27:53Speaker 1: one on the hot tub. They had a hot tub
- 27:55Speaker 1: in the middle of the skating rink. Hundreds of people
- 27:58Speaker 1: were watching all clean there and I'm like, am I
- 28:01Speaker 1: really gonna get not to right now with like this
- 28:04Speaker 1: kind of stranger on a ice drink, with all these
- 28:07Speaker 1: people watching, and it was this again. It was this
- 28:10Speaker 1: migration in a very short amount of time from being
- 28:13Speaker 1: just a guy to all of a sudden the Bachelor
- 28:17Speaker 1: and and you know, it was Good Morning America and
- 28:20Speaker 1: it was US Magazine and like all this stuff, and
- 28:22Speaker 1: it happened so quickly. And the only thing that saved
- 28:25Speaker 1: me is that I never took it very seriously. I
- 28:27Speaker 1: kind of laughed at myself the whole time. I never
- 28:29Speaker 1: though that's a bad picture, or you know, like, uh,
- 28:31Speaker 1: you know, I don't like the way I look or
- 28:32Speaker 1: what I said. I just laughed about it the whole time.
- 28:34Speaker 1: All my friends did. But it was crazy. Do you
- 28:37Speaker 1: still get recognized, um from the time on the show? Yeah?
- 28:42Speaker 1: I mean, you know, when I was on it, it
- 28:44Speaker 1: was you know, all this alternative TV stations and social
- 28:48Speaker 1: media wasn't around. It was still network TV was still
- 28:51Speaker 1: the thing. I mean, there was thirty million people watched
- 28:54Speaker 1: every episode along the way, so it was out there.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Then US Magazine followed it very closely, and People mag
- 29:00Speaker 1: because all the all the tabloids and so it was
- 29:03Speaker 1: a it was a big part of people's lives for
- 29:05Speaker 1: for a while, and so you know, definitely like you
- 29:08Speaker 1: know that the younger generation, you know, it doesn't recognize me,
- 29:11Speaker 1: but people kind of in my demographic kind of like
- 29:14Speaker 1: they kind of grew up with me, you know a
- 29:15Speaker 1: little bit. So, yeah, you're my aunt's favorite bachelor probably
- 29:19Speaker 1: still to this day. It has amazing taste. Yeah, he's
- 29:22Speaker 1: a great woman. You obviously have a friendship with Chris.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Then he was the host of the show back when
- 29:38Speaker 1: you were the Bachelor. You're sitting in a hot tub
- 29:41Speaker 1: in a skating rink with a hundred people watching in
- 29:44Speaker 1: the back of your mind, going, this guy convinced me
- 29:48Speaker 1: to do this. Yes, I do blame him for a
- 29:50Speaker 1: lot of it now, but he was he was like
- 29:52Speaker 1: and he's always been a confident on the show throughout,
- 29:55Speaker 1: Like you know, but I think more than ever and
- 29:57Speaker 1: I think he'd probably say the same thing. Like I
- 29:59Speaker 1: spent a lot of time with him off the camera
- 30:02Speaker 1: because I was in a in in the mansion where
- 30:04Speaker 1: they filmed most of it by myself, but he would
- 30:07Speaker 1: be there a lot. We would hang out and so
- 30:10Speaker 1: like he was my only friend, like literally not just
- 30:12Speaker 1: talking about the Bachelor, but like just I mean I
- 30:14Speaker 1: was there for I don't know, eight weeks, nine weeks
- 30:16Speaker 1: or whatever it took to film. It was a lot
- 30:18Speaker 1: longer back then. And you know, he was my guy,
- 30:21Speaker 1: like he was my buddy and um and so, and
- 30:24Speaker 1: I'm lucky to call my friends since you know, for
- 30:25Speaker 1: all those years and we're still very tight and uh yeah,
- 30:29Speaker 1: but he had a chance to come up here and
- 30:30Speaker 1: see you guys. We had a road trip for three
- 30:31Speaker 1: and a half hours, driving up the coast. That was
- 30:34Speaker 1: what an interesting like difference between your experience with Chris
- 30:39Speaker 1: and like Ben and ours because we obviously are also
- 30:43Speaker 1: very close with Chris. But you did the show back
- 30:46Speaker 1: when there wasn't a huge age discrepancy between the host
- 30:49Speaker 1: and the lead of the show. Because when I was
- 30:52Speaker 1: on the show was very much like he was a
- 30:54Speaker 1: father figure and for you it must have been more
- 30:56Speaker 1: like a peer. So he was a buddy and like
- 30:58Speaker 1: so we would talk off camera. Uh like wasn't that
- 31:01Speaker 1: weird or like what do you think about that? She
- 31:02Speaker 1: said that, like what you know, like there was it
- 31:04Speaker 1: was a buddy thing. We're only a couple of years
- 31:06Speaker 1: apart in age, and so um and he was, you know,
- 31:09Speaker 1: he had a young family, so like I wanted to
- 31:12Speaker 1: I wanted what he had, right, Like I was aspiring
- 31:14Speaker 1: to have that. And I'm I'm a I'm a die
- 31:17Speaker 1: hard romantic and you know, and I went when I
- 31:20Speaker 1: did the show, it wasn't because I wanted to be
- 31:21Speaker 1: on TV. I didn't see the show before. Like I
- 31:24Speaker 1: wanted that. I wanted the thing. I wanted the family.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I want all that stuff, and maybe this is a
- 31:29Speaker 1: way to make that happen. And so having Chris there,
- 31:32Speaker 1: who was again had a young family, whatever else, like
- 31:34Speaker 1: I saw myself and him. So I took his advice
- 31:37Speaker 1: very genuinely because it had worked for him, you know,
- 31:41Speaker 1: and he he was sitting where I wanted to sit
- 31:42Speaker 1: in a couple of years. How did they find you? Then?
- 31:45Speaker 1: You didn't know? So um so back like you could
- 31:49Speaker 1: apply for it. I didn't apply for it. I just
- 31:52Speaker 1: I literally got a phone call at my desk, um.
- 31:55Speaker 1: And I think it was about the time that Joe
- 31:57Speaker 1: Millionaire had come out, and so I think that the
- 32:00Speaker 1: show kind of wanted a backstory. So the first two
- 32:02Speaker 1: gentlemen that we're on the Bachelor, you know, we're you know,
- 32:05Speaker 1: just guys just like like, you know, like that just
- 32:08Speaker 1: bachelor guys. And I think they wanted to have something
- 32:12Speaker 1: that had a little backstory to it, had a little
- 32:14Speaker 1: history where, you know, they didn't have someone that America
- 32:17Speaker 1: already knew, but they wanted I think they wanted somebody
- 32:20Speaker 1: that America could know or like, oh, yeah, I know Firestone,
- 32:22Speaker 1: I know firestontime you're like, I know that story. And
- 32:25Speaker 1: I think the winery had something to do with it
- 32:27Speaker 1: as a backdrop for you know, for a lot of
- 32:28Speaker 1: the of the of the story. But people that don't
- 32:31Speaker 1: know it's your family has a winery in southern California,
- 32:35Speaker 1: so we're in the wine business, my brothers in the
- 32:37Speaker 1: beer business eight oh five beer. I'm sure a lot
- 32:39Speaker 1: of people are familiar with it, but my family, you know,
- 32:43Speaker 1: generations ago started Firestone Tires and so it fires something
- 32:46Speaker 1: pretty household type of a name. So I think that
- 32:49Speaker 1: blended with what they were trying to get accomplished. And
- 32:52Speaker 1: especially because if none of the girls knew who it
- 32:54Speaker 1: was that they were going to see, maybe it's a
- 32:56Speaker 1: little more familiar to have a name that was recognizable.
- 32:58Speaker 1: But now, you know, having you having they know you
- 33:01Speaker 1: before you were the bachelor you that people followed your story,
- 33:04Speaker 1: they fell in love with you for for your personality
- 33:06Speaker 1: and everything else. And the twenty five bachelorettes that we're
- 33:10Speaker 1: gonna show up also knew you kind of. I mean
- 33:12Speaker 1: not not to say they knew you, but they knew
- 33:15Speaker 1: enough of you to want to go and take that chance.
- 33:17Speaker 1: I had to agree to it. Where were the ladies at, then,
- 33:20Speaker 1: the women at when you were in the mansion You're
- 33:22Speaker 1: saying you lived in that mansion alone. It's a big house,
- 33:26Speaker 1: was it? This is the same mansion. This was. This
- 33:28Speaker 1: was one of the first iconic I don't even think
- 33:30Speaker 1: it's there anymore. It was, you know, on the water
- 33:33Speaker 1: in Malibu, and all the ladies were in a house
- 33:36Speaker 1: about fifteen miles away, also in Malibu, but they had
- 33:40Speaker 1: no he didn't live, but he was just there a lot,
- 33:42Speaker 1: you know, because like he would go there and hang
- 33:44Speaker 1: out and um, you know, because they were doing whatever
- 33:46Speaker 1: the production stuff was. But there was a lot of
- 33:48Speaker 1: production stuff that was happening. But like they wouldn't interact
- 33:51Speaker 1: with me, and like I'm a very social person, Like
- 33:54Speaker 1: I'm like I want to play, I want to shoot
- 33:55Speaker 1: hoops with somebody like I want to do something, and
- 33:57Speaker 1: they were very standoffish to me, because I'm sure they
- 33:59Speaker 1: were too, So it was it was a very odd
- 34:03Speaker 1: couple of months that I was in this huge house
- 34:05Speaker 1: by myself. Yeah. I remember when I went on this show.
- 34:09Speaker 1: One of the first bit of directives that we got
- 34:12Speaker 1: from an executive producer was, I know, you want to
- 34:16Speaker 1: talk to the camera guys and the sound people, but
- 34:18Speaker 1: they are furniture. Do not interact with them. And I
- 34:22Speaker 1: was like, well, I can't do that, Like, I'm gonna
- 34:24Speaker 1: have to talk to these people. I got. I got
- 34:26Speaker 1: close to some, but like it was funny through those,
- 34:29Speaker 1: you know, those couple of months that I was there,
- 34:31Speaker 1: like it they did sort of start to fall into
- 34:33Speaker 1: the background, you know, like like eventually it did normalize
- 34:36Speaker 1: a bit. And that's what people ask me most often,
- 34:38Speaker 1: is like, isn't that weird being filmed all the time.
- 34:41Speaker 1: The first couple of weeks, it was bizarre, but then
- 34:44Speaker 1: eventually it just kind of became it was just there.
- 34:46Speaker 1: It was like white noise. Eventually the this whole thing
- 34:52Speaker 1: has transformed in incredible ways. You are now married. You
- 34:56Speaker 1: mentioned you have children, three kids, three kids? U um,
- 35:01Speaker 1: does your wife it all look back on this time?
- 35:03Speaker 1: Has you ever seen it? Does she laugh at you
- 35:05Speaker 1: or enjoy watching it? So everybody laughs at me? Just
- 35:09Speaker 1: um no, it's it's funny. I mean it. It has
- 35:12Speaker 1: kind of faded into the background quite a bit, you know,
- 35:15Speaker 1: and like you know, I I didn't do any Hollywood
- 35:18Speaker 1: stuff afterwards, like I got back to my to my life.
- 35:20Speaker 1: So it's it's a fun chapter that like like sitting
- 35:23Speaker 1: in this calt right now with you guys, like like
- 35:26Speaker 1: all these memories are popping back up, and it's fun
- 35:29Speaker 1: to reminisce about. But it's it's it's literally just one
- 35:31Speaker 1: chapter in my life. So it's not it's you know,
- 35:35Speaker 1: it's not a defining moment by any stretch, but it
- 35:37Speaker 1: was a lot of fun. Are you happy you did it?
- 35:39Speaker 1: Absolutely no. I don't regret any of it. And and
- 35:41Speaker 1: you know, it's so easy for people to, oh, you know,
- 35:44Speaker 1: I wish I wouldn't have said that, or they portrayed
- 35:46Speaker 1: me wrong, or I wasn't like that. But like if
- 35:48Speaker 1: you're taking that serious, like that stuff seriously, like there's
- 35:52Speaker 1: something wrong like that is literally I mean, it's it's
- 35:55Speaker 1: just a it's a snippet of a portion of your life.
- 35:58Speaker 1: And if if you can't look back on a photo album,
- 36:01Speaker 1: it's like Whitney and I and like be able to
- 36:03Speaker 1: laugh at yourself and be like, oh my god, I
- 36:05Speaker 1: can't believe I was that awkward. I can't believe that
- 36:06Speaker 1: I looked like whatever you should. You need to be
- 36:10Speaker 1: able to take it with a grain of salt and
- 36:12Speaker 1: so answer, Yes, I'm so happy I did it. I
- 36:14Speaker 1: made great friends. Didn't work out the way that I
- 36:16Speaker 1: thought it was going to, but I have no regrets whatsoever.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Did they say on your season, uh, here for the
- 36:24Speaker 1: right reasons, And I'll say, like I was a dent
- 36:30Speaker 1: there genuinely to see if this could work. I didn't
- 36:34Speaker 1: take I didn't take a dime of money. I paid
- 36:36Speaker 1: for for the ring myself, Like really, I did not
- 36:39Speaker 1: want any I didn't want any sniff that it was
- 36:43Speaker 1: it was contrived. I wanted to be an authentic experience.
- 36:47Speaker 1: That was the only thing I could control. I couldn't
- 36:48Speaker 1: control editing, I couldn't control the girls. I could just
- 36:51Speaker 1: control myself and my attitude and perspective on what I
- 36:56Speaker 1: was doing. It's funny because you know that they're for
- 36:59Speaker 1: the right reasons thing. It's brought up so often, and
- 37:02Speaker 1: I think that maybe you are the only person who
- 37:04Speaker 1: has ever been there for the right reason, because like
- 37:07Speaker 1: you can you come from this winery family. You know
- 37:10Speaker 1: you don't need to sell diarrhea t on Instagram, Like
- 37:14Speaker 1: there is no bullshit with you. You actually went there
- 37:17Speaker 1: and wanted to And I didn't know about Neil Lane
- 37:20Speaker 1: wasn't there. You bought your own ring back then as
- 37:22Speaker 1: Harry Winston. But I mean they were gonna offer a ring,
- 37:24Speaker 1: and I'm like, if I give this ring to this
- 37:28Speaker 1: woman that I feel like I'm in love with, and
- 37:31Speaker 1: I want to give this a real shot. I don't
- 37:33Speaker 1: want there to be any sense of like this is
- 37:36Speaker 1: not genuine. I don't want it to be like, well,
- 37:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you this ring to then give to
- 37:40Speaker 1: that to her that I'm gonna take it back or
- 37:42Speaker 1: you're gonna whatever it is. I'm like, no, if I'm
- 37:44Speaker 1: gonna do this, it's going to be authentic. I might
- 37:46Speaker 1: get my heart trampled, but you know what, that's authentic
- 37:49Speaker 1: and and and I would learn more from that than
- 37:52Speaker 1: faking it. That was one thing I always appreciated about
- 37:55Speaker 1: Jordan Joe Joe was that Jordan went and bought another
- 37:59Speaker 1: ring afterwards and then did it again like without cameras,
- 38:03Speaker 1: and well, I think it's necessary. Yeah, I mean it
- 38:05Speaker 1: is like you come off that show and you're still
- 38:07Speaker 1: dating and then there's that like moment where you decide, Okay,
- 38:10Speaker 1: is this really something or is it not? I think yeah,
- 38:14Speaker 1: I agree, I think that was It's a good move,
- 38:16Speaker 1: a good moment, and it's you know, it shows that
- 38:18Speaker 1: next chapter where that the show isn't kind of what
- 38:21Speaker 1: like either brought you together, force you together. It just
- 38:23Speaker 1: helped you meet and in life beyond. Hey, we do
- 38:26Speaker 1: have a big, big day ahead of us. I want
- 38:29Speaker 1: to make sure to tell everybody out there to order
- 38:31Speaker 1: with the Uber eats app. They stocked us up, I
- 38:34Speaker 1: mean with everything for this trip, with chips, with tequila,
- 38:38Speaker 1: with Seltzer's. Uh we brought in what else did you
- 38:42Speaker 1: guys order? Uh? Waters, but lots of waters to offset
- 38:46Speaker 1: some of the tequila we're gonna be drinking, so keep
- 38:48Speaker 1: that imbalanced. But I mean, I mean snacks, you know,
- 38:51Speaker 1: energy bars, like the like the whole the whole thing.
- 38:53Speaker 1: I mean, if we're not totally jacked up all day
- 38:56Speaker 1: on the course, like just puring it yards off. That's
- 39:00Speaker 1: That's not uber ITT's fault, that's our fault. Yeah, so
- 39:02Speaker 1: the uber Eats app is the way to go again.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Thank you for bring us all together Uber Eats to
- 39:08Speaker 1: have this awesome trip, but also um to showcase something
- 39:10Speaker 1: that we all use in our lives. Now as we
- 39:12Speaker 1: close this whole thing out um today and get ready
- 39:15Speaker 1: for an amazing round. Uh, wells we do have to
- 39:18Speaker 1: ask you, um we are we are in May? Uh
- 39:23Speaker 1: there's a show that usually is filmed sometime this time
- 39:27Speaker 1: of year called Bachelor in Paradise. Familiar? Yeah, are you
- 39:32Speaker 1: gonna be on Bachelor in Paradise? Gonna ask that question
- 39:35Speaker 1: to you? Are you gonna be doing it? What where
- 39:37Speaker 1: are you at with it? We haven't heard a thing? Well,
- 39:40Speaker 1: it was. It was a weird thing because there was
- 39:41Speaker 1: a bunch of talk that it wasn't going to happen.
- 39:44Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys ever like talked about it. Yeah,
- 39:47Speaker 1: we talked about a lot. There was rumors that the
- 39:50Speaker 1: show wasn't gonna happen. And I thought that was really
- 39:52Speaker 1: interesting because I do feel like it's a very successful
- 39:56Speaker 1: show one and for a lot of people. It's everyone's favorite.
- 40:01Speaker 1: Um So the idea of them of us not doing
- 40:04Speaker 1: it is kind of a silly clickbait story just in general.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Um So I can say that this of course he
- 40:12Speaker 1: has the show is coming back. We're going to film
- 40:15Speaker 1: it where we always film it. It's going to film
- 40:17Speaker 1: during the same time, um that it always does. Will
- 40:21Speaker 1: I be there? Probably? Yeah. Here's the thing that, like,
- 40:27Speaker 1: I know that this sounds like very vague or cryptic,
- 40:30Speaker 1: but this is how this is what I've learned about Hollywood.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Hollywood doesn't get there together until seventeen minutes before something
- 40:39Speaker 1: is supposed to start, so you never really know, um
- 40:43Speaker 1: what's going to happen. So I would say it's definitely
- 40:47Speaker 1: happening and definitely probably gonna see me there, probably definitely,
- 40:52Speaker 1: probably Maybe we're not getting a lot out of it
- 40:54Speaker 1: the time. It works every time. Are you in any
- 40:58Speaker 1: fall up to that? Are you curious watch Paradise? I do?
- 41:01Speaker 1: I mean that is it is a fascinating show. Um
- 41:04Speaker 1: A lot of bikinis, a lot of a lot of tequila,
- 41:07Speaker 1: and those like two of my favorite categories, like if
- 41:09Speaker 1: I was on Jeopardy and those with like what is tequila.
- 41:13Speaker 1: What are bikinis like? That would be those. I would
- 41:15Speaker 1: go for the daily double every time. Um, so yeah,
- 41:18Speaker 1: I I hope we see wellsy on there would be
- 41:20Speaker 1: that would be you know that, that's like one of
- 41:22Speaker 1: the best parts. Would you would like batchelor? Paradise wasn't
- 41:25Speaker 1: around during your time? Would you go? Would you go
- 41:27Speaker 1: on Paradise? You know, I'm forty six years old with
- 41:30Speaker 1: three kids. Nobody wants them. Like, if you want to
- 41:33Speaker 1: if you want to kill a show, put me on it.
- 41:35Speaker 1: On a dating show. Let's flash back, though you're the bachelor.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Doesn't work out? Uh no, bachelor, I don't work out.
- 41:42Speaker 1: It does doesn't It doesn't work out for you if
- 41:44Speaker 1: you work out? Are you looking at my flabby ars? You? Uh? Um?
- 41:51Speaker 1: You you're the first lead ever to do one of
- 41:54Speaker 1: those side shows. Um. Would you have said yes? Does
- 41:58Speaker 1: that feel like your cup of tea? Probably not? I
- 42:00Speaker 1: mean just that's nothing my I mean, I don't know.
- 42:02Speaker 1: It would be tough just because um, like I I
- 42:06Speaker 1: would just get very uh cynical about the thing. But
- 42:10Speaker 1: I do enjoy watching it and like um and and
- 42:13Speaker 1: the characters that have been on it before been so
- 42:15Speaker 1: compelling and so willing to kind of put themselves out there.
- 42:19Speaker 1: So I will say this. I think I can speak
- 42:22Speaker 1: for everybody and say, well, as we hope to see
- 42:24Speaker 1: you on the beach, we hope to see you very
- 42:27Speaker 1: often speaking on the beach. Um. Those flowered shirts, ridiculous shirts.
- 42:33Speaker 1: It fits you, man, you do a great job at it.
- 42:35Speaker 1: My olive skin down there in the Mexican summer sun.
- 42:39Speaker 1: We'll have to U. We'll have to uh just I guess,
- 42:42Speaker 1: wait and uh and wonder until the official announcement if
- 42:46Speaker 1: there is one, if you'll be there or not. Yeah,
- 42:49Speaker 1: it's coming soon, it's coming soon. There we go. That's all.
- 42:52Speaker 1: That's that's all we needed to make sure there's a
- 42:54Speaker 1: little peace of mind walking into the first tea today
- 42:57Speaker 1: at Pebble Beach. Again, thanks to uber eats for bringing
- 43:00Speaker 1: us all here. Uh, gentlemen, this has been a pleasure. Uh,
- 43:04Speaker 1: it's really great to be with you all. Thank you
- 43:07Speaker 1: um for coming out here with the almost famous podcast,
- 43:09Speaker 1: but also thanks to uber eats for bringing us together
- 43:11Speaker 1: out here. We're gonna have a great day uh at
- 43:15Speaker 1: Pebble Beach. Um, we've got to get to the range.
- 43:18Speaker 1: I've got to make sure that my bag is on
- 43:21Speaker 1: its way to the hotel, because that's really important to
- 43:25Speaker 1: have golf clubs. Yeah, to play golf, to play golf.
- 43:29Speaker 1: So I want to see if we can get Uber
- 43:30Speaker 1: Eats to actually come out in the fairway. I want
- 43:32Speaker 1: to order something like while we're like walking down four
- 43:35Speaker 1: and like see if you can meet us like the
- 43:36Speaker 1: six tea bucks. I have the uber ets app. Okay,
- 43:39Speaker 1: we're gonna get on. I wanna see. I wanna see
- 43:41Speaker 1: like roast and brodies, like let's see crossover through through
- 43:48Speaker 1: the yard, through the hedges onto the course. I don't
- 43:50Speaker 1: put it past them. That good. They're that good. Hey,
- 43:53Speaker 1: follow my lead here. Andrew Wells has been around for
- 43:56Speaker 1: a bit. Thanks everybody for listening. Um, we'll be back
- 43:59Speaker 1: uh this next week with one of our regular episodes.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Ash will be there. Ashley is also having the producer here.
- 44:05Speaker 1: She's also having like a girl's trip, right, that's coming
- 44:08Speaker 1: up sometime soon in June. In June, so that's gonna
- 44:12Speaker 1: be a very special episode. I imagine Ashley is very
- 44:15Speaker 1: ready for a girl's trip like hers is like slightly
- 44:18Speaker 1: different than this, Yeah, a little more like Ashley esque,
- 44:21Speaker 1: a little more spa a little more girls. Are we
- 44:24Speaker 1: invited to that too? We'll talk about that. I don't
- 44:27Speaker 1: I don't hate a spat. It's funny because when this
- 44:30Speaker 1: came up and they said, hey, what do you want
- 44:31Speaker 1: to do? Immediately I was kind of joking. I was like,
- 44:36Speaker 1: I want to bring these guys to Pebble Beach and
- 44:38Speaker 1: play golf, and you're an Amy who has been our
- 44:42Speaker 1: producer forever responded with okay, and I was like, oh, well,
- 44:49Speaker 1: I don't always typically say that when you asked me things.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Ben called Danielle and I the other day and said
- 44:54Speaker 1: can we do this? And he asked us something. We
- 44:56Speaker 1: just literally said no, no, no, I'm not going to work. Yeah,
- 45:00Speaker 1: and I say, okay, well that works at least at
- 45:01Speaker 1: least we asked, right, You gotta know what they can do.
- 45:05Speaker 1: All they can do is say no, hey, would that
- 45:08Speaker 1: talk about Andrew's argyll socks? Did you look fashion? That's
- 45:11Speaker 1: what the ladies want to hear about. This is the podcast.
- 45:13Speaker 1: You can't see us. Yeah. Well, I think I got
- 45:16Speaker 1: a picture at some point because I thought we were
- 45:18Speaker 1: getting Best Dressed awards. I'm giving it to Andrew. I'm
- 45:20Speaker 1: getting like first, second, and third Andrew's wearing a blue,
- 45:24Speaker 1: a light blue floral golf shirt just tight enough. I'm
- 45:28Speaker 1: not gonna it's a perfect tightness. Blue pants also just
- 45:31Speaker 1: tied enough, looking stylish our gyll socks wells is all
- 45:35Speaker 1: in black. He's like Johnny cash Over, You're looking really good.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Nice black golf sweater, black pants. Ben, let me tell you,
- 45:42Speaker 1: is wearing the exact same elf he was because he
- 45:46Speaker 1: doesn't have any clothes or any underwear. The Uber Eats
- 45:49Speaker 1: is getting yeah, but just to be said, Uber Eats
- 45:52Speaker 1: is here with my deodorant, my toothbrush, my toothpaste, grabbed
- 45:58Speaker 1: Q tips. It's here. Thanks Suberie for making sure that
- 46:00Speaker 1: I have everything I need. It just came in. This
- 46:03Speaker 1: is a big day. Ben does have a lovely Kashmir
- 46:06Speaker 1: sweater with a like a hood, which I did touch
- 46:09Speaker 1: because it was so solid. He also is kind of
- 46:11Speaker 1: a weird smell. You can get this guy when get
- 46:13Speaker 1: his fresh clothes. Right now. There's a lot going on, um,
- 46:17Speaker 1: but this day is about to turn to be incredible
- 46:22Speaker 1: because I believe everything's gonna show up. And I believe,
- 46:24Speaker 1: uh that once again, uh Chris Harrison shoots low round today.
- 46:29Speaker 1: I believe Wells is in second, I believe I'm really close.
- 46:31Speaker 1: And third, I actually think Wells and I are gonna
- 46:32Speaker 1: go back and forth into the final hole. I believe
- 46:35Speaker 1: Andrew just has a great time and makes it. If
- 46:38Speaker 1: I don't, if I don't launch a club into the
- 46:40Speaker 1: Pacific Ocean today, like that's a win. Like that's that's
- 46:43Speaker 1: a lot of pressure on Today. There will be some
- 46:45Speaker 1: games being played. I'm assuming there'll be some updates, uh
- 46:49Speaker 1: that you can follow. I'm hoping. Um, if if I
- 46:52Speaker 1: take Wells down today, it's not gonna feel great because
- 46:55Speaker 1: I do love the guy, but it's gonna feel so good,
- 46:57Speaker 1: really deep inside my evil soul. Mean, he's gonna do
