- 0:26Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Opposition Territory here at the Philadelphia
- 0:28Speaker 1: Sports Table Podcast Show, the longest-running weekly Philly sports podcast
- 0:32Speaker 1: show in the world. We are now going to be
- 0:35Speaker 1: diving into this upcoming NFL season. We got our season
- 0:40Speaker 1: previews obviously coming this week with regard to the Eagles,
- 0:42Speaker 1: but our game previews with regard to the Philadelphia Eagles
- 0:47Speaker 1: and this opening game preview. Eagles, Commanders, it is going
- 0:52Speaker 1: to be one hell of a game. And joining us,
- 0:56Speaker 1: we've got our good friend from the Trap or Dive podcast.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Love the guys over there. We've got our good friend
- 1:01Speaker 1: Jamal Forrest. Dude, you have been on the podcast now
- 1:04Speaker 1: for years, man. I always appreciate you taking the time.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Always good to talk to you, man.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Hey, likewise, Jeff, appreciate you. Big game to start the
- 1:14Speaker 2: season for both mobs, man.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Yes, exactly. There are folks within Eagles Nation, and we're
- 1:21Speaker 1: going to be getting into this more on our regular
- 1:23Speaker 1: season preview show that we're going to be uploading this Thursday,
- 1:26Speaker 1: but there are a lot of folks thinking the Commanders
- 1:28Speaker 1: may be taking this one right off the bat. And
- 1:31Speaker 1: to be honest, Jaden Daniels, which we're going to get
- 1:33Speaker 1: to in just a bit here as we're talking about
- 1:35Speaker 1: this upcoming matchup, kind of it wouldn't actually surprise me
- 1:38Speaker 1: in a bit if that actually does happen.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Jamal yeah uh I think it's an interesting concept I
- 1:46Speaker 2: didn't know how Philly fans felt about it um I
- 1:49Speaker 2: think Washington is in a spot where you know there
- 1:54Speaker 2: are so many different moving pieces and that that came
- 1:58Speaker 2: across you know their plate this offseason yeah uh 2025
- 2:01Speaker 2: and 2024 honestly you didn't have good rosters at all
- 2:07Speaker 2: exactly you know you found a way to win the
- 2:11Speaker 2: first year um the second year injuries and on top
- 2:15Speaker 2: of that a poor roster just didn't help you and
- 2:18Speaker 2: everything went downhill um you gotta find a way if
- 2:22Speaker 2: you're adam peters and dan quinn to bounce back dan
- 2:26Speaker 2: quinn on the side of finding the right staff to
- 2:28Speaker 2: lead your offense and your defense um and then adam
- 2:32Speaker 2: peters get some talent, get some speed. Like, let's not
- 2:37Speaker 2: be averaging 35 years old. I'm exaggerating, but like one
- 2:42Speaker 2: of the oldest teams, the oldest team in the NFL. Yeah.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Not a way to get better. Yeah.
- 2:48Speaker 2: And I think when you look at like these different situations,
- 2:52Speaker 2: this team is so new from a roster turnover standpoint,
- 2:56Speaker 2: your coaching standpoint, you feel like Philly should be the favorite,
- 3:03Speaker 2: rightfully so. But you think in like Washington has this
- 3:09Speaker 2: upper hand because it's a familiar opponent, but it's also
- 3:12Speaker 2: something that you can't prepare for from a coordinator standpoint
- 3:17Speaker 2: because you don't know what they're going.
- 3:18Speaker 3: To bring come week one. Yeah.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 3:21Speaker 1: And I think it's important that we get into the
- 3:23Speaker 1: strengths and weaknesses of the commanders right off the bat
- 3:27Speaker 1: here as, you know, Philadelphia Eagles fans are listening to
- 3:30Speaker 1: this podcast, watching it perhaps on YouTube. Let's get into
- 3:33Speaker 1: it here, Jamal. What is it? We'll start off with
- 3:35Speaker 1: the biggest strength first on the commanders. What's the biggest
- 3:37Speaker 1: strength on this team heading into this game?
- 3:41Speaker 3: I mean. The biggest, are we talking player, unit?
- 3:46Speaker 1: Anything, dude. Yeah, anything you want in terms of what
- 3:49Speaker 1: that biggest strength is, yeah.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so I was actually just talking about this last week. So, like,
- 3:54Speaker 2: I think the most, the biggest or the most important
- 3:58Speaker 2: piece to, or most important player to this team is
- 4:01Speaker 2: going to be Jaden Daniels.
- 4:02Speaker 3: I mean, rightfully so.
- 4:03Speaker 2: The team moves as far as he'll take them, and
- 4:06Speaker 2: he has to stay healthy. But I also think when
- 4:08Speaker 2: you think about Jaden Daniels, um, his transition to this
- 4:12Speaker 2: new offense, David Blau. Uh, and when I say new
- 4:15Speaker 2: is it's familiar within the, the workings of the NFL is, is,
- 4:19Speaker 2: is a scheme that has been utilized across the league, right? He,
- 4:23Speaker 2: he comes from, uh, uh, uh, your Chicago coach right
- 4:27Speaker 2: now that I'm drawing a blank on Ben Johnson.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Um, and has elements and principles from, from him that
- 4:33Speaker 2: he's been able to use. But at the same time, uh,
- 4:37Speaker 2: I think Jaden has been able to acclimate himself from
- 4:41Speaker 2: a person who's worse used to like simplified offenses from
- 4:47Speaker 2: a play calling standpoint to more complex reads and more
- 4:50Speaker 2: complex calls and a lot of more responsibility on his plate.
- 4:53Speaker 3: He's been able to handle that.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Just listening to people talk about him and him talk
- 4:58Speaker 2: about his off season and his training training camp to
- 5:01Speaker 2: this point. So yeah, It seems like he's super prepared,
- 5:05Speaker 2: but that transition has been really important for him. And
- 5:08Speaker 2: I think if he doesn't come out the gate slow
- 5:12Speaker 2: or seems like he's struggling from a processing standpoint, I
- 5:18Speaker 2: think you see the effects of what this new offense
- 5:21Speaker 2: can do for him and the explosive nature of it
- 5:25Speaker 2: right away. You can see that. But it is to
- 5:30Speaker 2: be determined. But again, he is your biggest strength in
- 5:32Speaker 2: terms of your player, but then when you move to
- 5:34Speaker 2: a unit, you go to the other side of the football,
- 5:38Speaker 2: part of what we talked about or what I just
- 5:39Speaker 2: kind of previewed with Adam Peters, your front seven is
- 5:44Speaker 2: completely new.
- 5:45Speaker 3: I mean, you still got Deron Payne that's there.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Yeah. If you followed anything that I had to say
- 5:55Speaker 2: about Johnny Newton this offseason, respect. Now, I'm not talking about.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Him being hurt. I would never do that.
- 6:04Speaker 2: But respectfully, the best thing this team could have for
- 6:07Speaker 2: Johnny Newton is the fact that he is not playing
- 6:10Speaker 2: for the future. If he was not a high-end draft pick,
- 6:16Speaker 2: he would be on the verge of being cut. But
- 6:19Speaker 2: I say that to say it's not about picking on
- 6:21Speaker 2: Johnny Newton. You have Shai Tuttle, Tim Settle, your big
- 6:27Speaker 2: one techniques, nose tackles that's in your interior that's going
- 6:31Speaker 2: to help you stop the run. Johnny Newton couldn't do that.
- 6:34Speaker 2: And now that's one of the reasons. He was going
- 6:36Speaker 2: to be real heavy in the rotation, but he's hurt.
- 6:41Speaker 2: So now because he's unavailable, he's not going to be
- 6:45Speaker 2: heavy in the rotation. You have an opportunity to have
- 6:48Speaker 2: better run defenders on the line of scrimmage to help
- 6:51Speaker 2: you in an instance that you're going up against a
- 6:53Speaker 2: Saquon Partley, which just so happens.
- 6:55Speaker 3: To be your week one opponent.
- 6:57Speaker 2: And then you bring in your edge rushers, Odafe, Owe, Claiborne, Chason. And, and,
- 7:04Speaker 2: and you got a rookie in your toolbox and Joshua
- 7:08Speaker 2: Joseph's who, while he's.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Like super fresh, he's super.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Green in terms of what he can do as a pro,
- 7:15Speaker 2: like that, his, what he brings to the table in
- 7:19Speaker 2: terms of his, his traits and his frame is raw,
- 7:23Speaker 2: but you see it in glimpse and you.
- 7:26Speaker 3: See it early.
- 7:27Speaker 2: So, Like he's going to have some snaps week one
- 7:31Speaker 2: because Doris Armstrong is suspended for a game. That's kind
- 7:34Speaker 2: of your depth thing. So you'll see some moments of
- 7:37Speaker 2: Joshua Josephs. But like this speed, this length, this power,
- 7:43Speaker 2: this turnover up front, I didn't even get the Sunday
- 7:46Speaker 2: styles yet. Like, and, and even the, the revived Frankie
- 7:50Speaker 2: Lou role, he was kind of playing out of position
- 7:53Speaker 2: last year. He's more of an off ball linebacker, but
- 7:56Speaker 2: injuries are, like relegated him to the line of scrimmage.
- 8:00Speaker 3: He primarily played your age.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Like there's a lot of things in this front seven
- 8:04Speaker 2: where you look at him and you say, I think
- 8:07Speaker 2: that if Durante Jones, who came from.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Brian Flores, who has an understanding of like.
- 8:15Speaker 2: A Mike Zimmer defense or, yeah, I think Mike Zimmer
- 8:18Speaker 2: from Cincinnati at one point, when you have like these
- 8:22Speaker 2: understandings of different principles and you can pull from all
- 8:25Speaker 2: of these different like, super notable and proven coaches, this
- 8:32Speaker 2: is an opportunity where that athletic front seven and new
- 8:37Speaker 2: front seven that Washington has, they can really keep you,
- 8:42Speaker 2: first off, keep you in the game against Philadelphia, but
- 8:45Speaker 2: also have opportunities to win the game for you if
- 8:47Speaker 2: they can create some turnovers up front. We'll see, but
- 8:51Speaker 2: that's the biggest strength that Washington has.
- 8:53Speaker 3: They have to prove it.
- 8:55Speaker 2: But like on paper, I think Adam Peters at least
- 8:57Speaker 2: did his part in the offseason, trying to turn over
- 9:01Speaker 2: that front seven and make it a little bit more formidable.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Gotcha. Well, let's flip the coin here. Biggest weakness on
- 9:08Speaker 1: this commander's team as we're heading into this week one
- 9:11Speaker 1: matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. I mean, what do you
- 9:14Speaker 1: see as that biggest weakness on this team? Because as
- 9:17Speaker 1: we know, there isn't one NFL team out there that's
- 9:19Speaker 1: 100 percent perfect on either side of the ball. So
- 9:22Speaker 1: what what's that biggest weakness heading into week one here?
- 9:26Speaker 3: Like the left guard spot is unsettled. Yeah. Your left
- 9:31Speaker 3: tackle spot is unsettled.
- 9:33Speaker 2: And that's even still, that's still giving credit to Brandon Coleman,
- 9:36Speaker 2: who is coming in place with Laramie Tunsil. He's, you know,
- 9:39Speaker 2: Laramie Tunsil, he's Taurus Peck. So who knows how long
- 9:43Speaker 2: he's out for? I mean, obviously, I mean, if we're
- 9:46Speaker 2: being honest here, he may be out for the whole season.
- 9:49Speaker 2: It is what it is. But Brandon Coleman has looked
- 9:54Speaker 2: solid dating back the last two, three games of the
- 9:57Speaker 2: season where he was starting at left tackle.
- 10:01Speaker 3: He's comfortable there.
- 10:03Speaker 2: And I think that this is a year where you
- 10:05Speaker 2: can see the growth in him. He just has to
- 10:07Speaker 2: prove it to himself. There's a lot of internal battles
- 10:10Speaker 2: that he was fighting last year. And coaches really had
- 10:14Speaker 2: to challenge him. So we'll see where he's at. But
- 10:19Speaker 2: If I'm being real, as much as I like Coleman,
- 10:22Speaker 2: we just don't know what that left side of the
- 10:23Speaker 2: offensive line is going to look like.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Yeah. What the chemistry is going to be like in
- 10:26Speaker 1: that cohesion.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 2: And then you're banking on Nick Allegretti, who is primarily
- 10:32Speaker 2: a left guard. And, you know, they want to bet
- 10:36Speaker 2: on him to play center now because they wanted to
- 10:39Speaker 2: get rid of Tyler Biotis.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:44Speaker 2: That's been a whole storyline this offseason because Nick Allegretti
- 10:46Speaker 2: has been hurt. uh, for basically the entire preseason practice,
- 10:50Speaker 2: like maybe three times the entire preseason. I mean, on
- 10:53Speaker 2: the training camp and preseason, he didn't play any preseason games. Um,
- 10:57Speaker 2: so limited experience there in terms of like building that
- 11:01Speaker 2: relationship with Jaden.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Uh, and you.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Know, we talking about a backup, who knows what he
- 11:07Speaker 2: can do in a full-time role where you're seeing upwards
- 11:10Speaker 2: to like 600 snaps in a season.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Right.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Um, So, you know, we'll cross that bridge when we
- 11:17Speaker 2: get there, but offensively, that's your weakness until it's proven otherwise.
- 11:21Speaker 2: And defensively, that's safety. That's safety room. Free safety and cornerbacks.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Yeah, the corners, yeah.
- 11:29Speaker 3: And that's really why your front seven has to show up.
- 11:32Speaker 2: You put all that money up there, it doesn't help
- 11:34Speaker 2: that Trey Amos is hurt. And he's on IR, short-term IR,
- 11:38Speaker 2: so you don't get him until October at the very earliest.
- 11:42Speaker 2: It may be later, but Cornerbacks and safety spot. You
- 11:48Speaker 2: just don't know what that post role is going to
- 11:50Speaker 2: look like. Post meaning like Jeremy Reeves and Jartavis Martin.
- 11:55Speaker 3: You don't know. You don't know what they're going to
- 11:56Speaker 3: look like. And then Mike Sandwich, like.
- 12:01Speaker 1: My like and i'm pausing this a little bit more
- 12:04Speaker 1: after the break we're definitely going to get into this
- 12:06Speaker 1: more after the break when it comes to the matchup
- 12:08Speaker 1: so i don't know if you want to save anything
- 12:10Speaker 1: for that.
- 12:11Speaker 2: No no i'm it's no matchup part but just more
- 12:14Speaker 2: so just like from a side standpoint you just don't
- 12:16Speaker 2: and that's why i was hesitating like when you when
- 12:18Speaker 2: you think about these guys like some some people are
- 12:21Speaker 2: like challenged in height but They're also like dog competitors
- 12:25Speaker 2: and ferocious at like at the catch point and things
- 12:27Speaker 2: like that. You just don't see that consistently from some
- 12:30Speaker 2: of the guys that we have. So, you know, it's
- 12:33Speaker 2: those are weaknesses, man. The entire secondary group until proven otherwise.
- 12:37Speaker 2: And you're at the left side of the offensive line.
- 12:39Speaker 2: They're going to have to tighten up, especially against the Eagles.
- 12:42Speaker 1: We're going to get into some matchups when we get
- 12:44Speaker 1: back from break. We are going to take a break again, folks.
- 12:47Speaker 1: We're talking to Jamal Forrest from the Trap or Dive podcast. And, buddy,
- 12:52Speaker 1: let everybody know where they can find you on the
- 12:53Speaker 1: interwebs out there if they want to connect with you,
- 12:55Speaker 1: if they want to check out what you're doing.
- 12:58Speaker 2: At Let Maul Tell It on all your socials, Twitter
- 13:02Speaker 2: and Instagram, and Chop It Up podcast on YouTube and
- 13:06Speaker 2: all podcast platforms.
- 13:07Speaker 1: There you go. Great, great follow. We're going to take
- 13:09Speaker 1: a break, folks. When we get back, we're going to
- 13:11Speaker 1: dive into some matchups that we're going to be seeing.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Week one, Eagles against the Commanders. Stick with us. All right,
- 13:20Speaker 1: we're back with our buddy Jamal Forrest from the Trap
- 13:23Speaker 1: or Dive podcast. And before going to break, talking about
- 13:28Speaker 1: this Commander Secondary, and it's going to be a challenge
- 13:31Speaker 1: for them throughout the season, but week one against the Eagles.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Wanted to get into the actual matchups, Jamal, with Eagles
- 13:39Speaker 1: wide receivers going up against the Commander Secondary. I mean,
- 13:42Speaker 1: we already know the three... kind of threat that Devontae
- 13:45Speaker 1: Smith is. And it remains to be seen though, how
- 13:48Speaker 1: much Eagles rookie, uh, Mackay Lemon, how much he gets involved.
- 13:53Speaker 1: And there's a lot of unknowns with regard to Jalen
- 13:55Speaker 1: Hurts and the chemistry that he's going to have with
- 13:57Speaker 1: Hollywood Brown, Elijah Moore, Dontavian Wick. So I'm actually very
- 14:01Speaker 1: excited to see what he's going to be able to
- 14:03Speaker 1: do specifically from the slot. Um, that cohesion and chemistry
- 14:08Speaker 1: with Hurts, it's not a hundred percent there, uh, at
- 14:11Speaker 1: this point. So I'm wondering, how do you see the
- 14:14Speaker 1: cornerbacks and safeties that you were talking about before the
- 14:16Speaker 1: break really trying to disrupt this receiver core that we
- 14:20Speaker 1: still have a lot of unknowns in Philly here?
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I think ultimately, even with like a Durante Jones
- 14:29Speaker 2: and his system, you think about all of the elements
- 14:34Speaker 2: contributing to the passing game, all three, all three levels
- 14:37Speaker 2: element contributing to the passing game, excuse me. It wouldn't
- 14:41Speaker 2: necessarily always be like your one-on-ones per se, but can
- 14:45Speaker 2: you get to your spots as quickly as you can
- 14:49Speaker 2: and how quickly can you get your eyes on the football?
- 14:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:54Speaker 2: And if you can execute your assignment and be where
- 14:58Speaker 2: you need to be, that is going to be ultimately
- 15:02Speaker 2: one of the bigger challenges for Durante. Even when you
- 15:07Speaker 2: think about your receivers, one of the bigger challenges is
- 15:11Speaker 2: going to be how quickly can Jalen Hurts process the
- 15:17Speaker 2: speed and the blitz scheme and pressure scheme that Durante
- 15:22Speaker 2: is going to bring. And that's not to say that
- 15:25Speaker 2: he can't because, again, Durante came from Minnesota. Jalen Hurts
- 15:31Speaker 2: has had success against Minnesota and Brian Flores but you
- 15:35Speaker 2: also don't have A.J.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Brown anymore and.
- 15:38Speaker 2: This is a whole new look you already described the
- 15:40Speaker 2: makeup of your receiver room now Devontae Smith there's no
- 15:45Speaker 2: there's no slighting what he is to our offense no
- 15:48Speaker 2: offense or buts about that but you also think about
- 15:54Speaker 2: Rasul Mike Sanrasil And a guy from Detroit who's slipping
- 16:03Speaker 2: my mind right now for Washington, but Amik Robertson, sorry.
- 16:09Speaker 2: But like you're starting three guys. How much can they
- 16:16Speaker 2: really close up or muddy up those windows for Jalen?
- 16:22Speaker 2: And that's kind of like the marriage of the front
- 16:24Speaker 2: seven that I mentioned earlier.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Helping out that secondary.
- 16:28Speaker 2: If you can do your job on the back end
- 16:30Speaker 2: and just get to your spots, that's going to make
- 16:33Speaker 2: these windows much harder for Jalen Hurts to throw into.
- 16:38Speaker 2: So I don't necessarily look at this matchup as one-on-ones
- 16:43Speaker 2: down the line. It's more so about can Jalen Hurts
- 16:49Speaker 2: beat the pressure scheme of Durante and and make the
- 16:53Speaker 2: right reads consistently because all it's going to take is
- 16:56Speaker 2: for that one window to close up or to, for
- 17:00Speaker 2: him to think that he has something immediately and it
- 17:03Speaker 2: was never there to begin with.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Um, and that's where the athletic spots of like Sonny
- 17:08Speaker 2: styles and, and, um, Leo Chanel comes in from the
- 17:13Speaker 2: linebacker spot. They're the middle of the field. They're going
- 17:15Speaker 2: to be your roamers. Like Sonny Stiles is one of
- 17:18Speaker 2: your most athletic players in the draft at his position.
- 17:21Speaker 2: And can Durante move him around in places where he
- 17:25Speaker 2: takes away windows for Jalen Hurts? Cause he can cover your,
- 17:30Speaker 2: your middle, your hooks. He can cover your flats. He
- 17:33Speaker 2: can cover your quarters. He can cover the scene. So
- 17:37Speaker 2: like those are elements where you think about your receivers
- 17:40Speaker 2: and it's so much more that's going to be challenging
- 17:44Speaker 2: in this game, in the passing game with your receivers.
- 17:47Speaker 3: And honestly, the.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Receivers are going to have to figure this out too
- 17:50Speaker 2: because they got to help Jalen.
- 17:51Speaker 3: It's not just all on Jalen.
- 17:52Speaker 2: They got to figure out how to get these, how
- 17:54Speaker 2: to get open in the zone and figure out how
- 17:56Speaker 2: these cornerbacks are going to play them. But I think
- 17:59Speaker 2: the front seven is going to have to do pretty
- 18:02Speaker 2: much a lot of work to help out this secondary.
- 18:04Speaker 2: And I feel comfortable that they can do that, the
- 18:07Speaker 2: front seven.
- 18:08Speaker 1: All right. Well, before we go to our next break, too,
- 18:10Speaker 1: I want to flip the sides here and get into
- 18:12Speaker 1: the commander's wide receivers room against this Eagle secondary. Got
- 18:17Speaker 1: Terry McLaurin, Stefan Diggs, Antonio Williams going up against the
- 18:20Speaker 1: likes of Quinion Mitchell, Rick Wolin and Cooper Dijon, who
- 18:25Speaker 1: is certainly an X factor, not just in the slop,
- 18:28Speaker 1: but when they're going to be playing base. Cooper Dijon
- 18:30Speaker 1: probably back in the safety position. Not sure how often
- 18:33Speaker 1: we'll see that base coverage. But I'm wondering, Jamal, how
- 18:36Speaker 1: difficult is it going to be for these commanders receivers
- 18:40Speaker 1: to win these one on one battles with these Eagles secondary?
- 18:44Speaker 1: That's pretty good. Yes.
- 18:47Speaker 3: You know, that's that's going to be a little bit
- 18:48Speaker 3: more tougher. Yeah.
- 18:50Speaker 2: And it does seem like more one to one because
- 18:52Speaker 2: you're talking about a secondary. Granted, your front seven or
- 18:56Speaker 2: your front, your pass rushers. In a Vic Fangio scheme, they.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Are who they are. You rely on your.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Edges, and you just have some of the best interior
- 19:07Speaker 2: defensive linemen already you can rush for, and y'all would
- 19:11Speaker 2: be just fine. But from a secondary standpoint, Quinion, and
- 19:19Speaker 2: I mean, Cooper and Quinion obviously are the top two.
- 19:23Speaker 2: And then you add in the third, and I think honestly,
- 19:29Speaker 2: What helps Washington now is that you can challenge defenses
- 19:36Speaker 2: from a standpoint of moving Terry off of his mark.
- 19:40Speaker 2: He doesn't always have to line up on the left side, right?
- 19:43Speaker 2: You have a personnel package from your receivers down to
- 19:48Speaker 2: your tight ends and running backs where you can deploy
- 19:52Speaker 2: a four wide set. If you're bold enough against these
- 19:55Speaker 2: guys and your four wide set can include two receivers,
- 20:00Speaker 2: a tight end and a running back.
- 20:03Speaker 3: All right. And I think like.
- 20:06Speaker 2: These different elements of trying to spread out the Eagles defense.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Wow.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Understanding who your corners, who their corners are. Yeah.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Is a way that you can bypass those challenges. But
- 20:21Speaker 2: make no mistake. Terry has to win. Terry has to find.
- 20:28Speaker 3: A way to... There are no ifs, ands, or buts
- 20:30Speaker 3: about it.
- 20:30Speaker 2: This is a tough matchup, but the addition of a Terry.
- 20:35Speaker 3: I'm assuming.
- 20:35Speaker 2: A Stephon Diggs and a Antonio Williams, who is a rookie,
- 20:39Speaker 2: but he's super quick, a smart receiver, shifty as well.
- 20:46Speaker 2: The addition of those two is going to help relieve
- 20:49Speaker 2: the pressure off of Terry. The question is, are they
- 20:52Speaker 2: ready for a challenge today? like Cooper and Quinion, and
- 20:58Speaker 2: the guy today added from Seattle. I'm not too sure
- 21:04Speaker 2: about exactly how I feel about Rick Willen. I know
- 21:09Speaker 2: he's good.
- 21:11Speaker 1: A lot of pass interference that you may be getting. Yeah.
- 21:17Speaker 2: The two that I have a lot more respect for
- 21:20Speaker 2: is the ones where it's like, Can we find a
- 21:22Speaker 2: way to target Reek over those two? But ultimately where
- 21:28Speaker 2: I'm getting at, Terry has to win, but the help
- 21:31Speaker 2: that you get from Stephon Diggs and Antonio Williams, those
- 21:36Speaker 2: are the people where you look at and you say, okay,
- 21:39Speaker 2: can we get at least... I was about to say five,
- 21:43Speaker 2: but if you get three explosives, 20 plus yards, if
- 21:46Speaker 2: you get three of them, you can really get the
- 21:49Speaker 2: pressure off of you from that secondary.
- 21:52Speaker 3: But you know, you got to execute.
- 21:53Speaker 2: And that's one of the things that we just haven't
- 21:55Speaker 2: done period against Philly from a, from a receiver standpoint,
- 21:58Speaker 2: when like all things being equal, you got to execute.
- 22:02Speaker 3: So we'll see.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Yep. All right.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Very good. Well, we are going to take one more break.
- 22:06Speaker 1: When we get back, folks, we're going to end with
- 22:08Speaker 1: sneaky players on the commander's offense and defense that we
- 22:12Speaker 1: need to keep our eyes on. Let's take that break now.
- 22:14Speaker 1: We'll be back in just a bit. All right, we're
- 22:19Speaker 1: back with our good buddy Jamal Forrest from the Trap
- 22:21Speaker 1: or Dive podcast. Follow him on the socials out there
- 22:25Speaker 1: at LetMallTellIt. Great, great follow. And as we conclude the
- 22:30Speaker 1: discussion here and our preview show, as week one is
- 22:34Speaker 1: going to be just right around the corner here. Two
- 22:36Speaker 1: part question, buddy, to close us out. Sneaky players for
- 22:40Speaker 1: us to watch on the commander's offense and defense. Let's
- 22:44Speaker 1: start with the offense first. Who is that sneaky player
- 22:47Speaker 1: that us Eagles fans are going to need to like
- 22:49Speaker 1: be on the lookout for when it comes to this
- 22:51Speaker 1: commander's offense? What are your thoughts here?
- 22:53Speaker 2: That's a really good question because there's so many different
- 22:59Speaker 2: routes that you can go.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 2: It's an underrated offense and rightfully so. Like, National media
- 23:07Speaker 2: isn't really thinking too much of him.
- 23:10Speaker 3: I think I'll go two since I can't settle for one.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Bill Merritt, Bill Kroski Merritt.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Okay.
- 23:19Speaker 2: I think from a running back standpoint, you know, this
- 23:22Speaker 2: is a guy, you know, he did pretty good as
- 23:24Speaker 2: a rookie last year. And this is another person who
- 23:27Speaker 2: didn't really see, he didn't see any preseason time at all,
- 23:30Speaker 2: but in a, in a, in a team where their
- 23:34Speaker 2: run game is, was a little discouraging or, or like it,
- 23:40Speaker 2: it just wasn't there.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:43Speaker 1: It was not as impactful.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Yes. Um, this is a guy who is super explosive.
- 23:49Speaker 2: And if he gets a little bit of a crease, um,
- 23:54Speaker 2: just a few times out the, out the day, it'll
- 23:56Speaker 2: be a really big deal for Washington's offense.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Um, and then secondly, Chico Conquo.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Okay.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Um, and, and that's your, your tight end, your new
- 24:04Speaker 2: starting tight end. I would have went with Antonio Williams,
- 24:07Speaker 2: but I kind of already talked about him anyway. But
- 24:10Speaker 2: Chigokonkwo is a person who can line out wide, but
- 24:14Speaker 2: also run routes from in line as well. But he
- 24:17Speaker 2: has that speed element too that can really change the
- 24:19Speaker 2: game for Washington. And I'm not stupid. I know Philly's
- 24:23Speaker 2: team speed on defense is there. He's not going to
- 24:27Speaker 2: catch them by surprise per se, but how David Blau
- 24:32Speaker 2: can use him is going to be something to watch. Defensively, man,
- 24:43Speaker 2: I think Sonny's too obvious. So I'm going to go
- 24:46Speaker 2: with Clayvon Chason.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Okay.
- 24:51Speaker 3: All right.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Because I don't know the status of Odafe Owe right
- 24:55Speaker 2: now because we're recording this earlier in the week. He
- 24:58Speaker 2: had his practice yesterday on Monday, but Dan Quinn listed
- 25:03Speaker 2: his game his availability in terms of full participation heading
- 25:08Speaker 2: into the week as to be decided essentially. So we
- 25:11Speaker 2: don't know by the time game day comes around, if
- 25:13Speaker 2: he'll be available, but Claiborne is a pass rusher. They
- 25:16Speaker 2: brought in, uh, he has a lot to prove, but
- 25:18Speaker 2: at the same time, uh, he's also a person who
- 25:23Speaker 2: did really good last year, pressure in the quarterback, um,
- 25:26Speaker 2: and getting home on the quarterback too. And Washington needs
- 25:28Speaker 2: that type of speed element as well.
- 25:31Speaker 3: So, uh, I'll go him.
- 25:32Speaker 2: And then, A person I'm not going to speak too
- 25:35Speaker 2: much on because y'all have familiarity with him.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Frankie Lou Vu. This is a revival. This is a
- 25:41Speaker 3: revival year for him. All right. So I'll keep it there.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Y'all know Frankie Lou Vu. Oh, yes. But that's another.
- 25:47Speaker 3: That's a number two.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Frankie's just a pain in the ass. You know what
- 25:50Speaker 1: I mean? Like, that's what he's been. Yeah.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Y'all holding a grudge over the guy who's just playing football.
- 25:57Speaker 3: That's the funny thing.
- 25:58Speaker 2: I know they think that he's a dirty player, but
- 26:01Speaker 2: it's like, yo, he may have just got caught in
- 26:04Speaker 2: some things just playing too hard.
- 26:06Speaker 3: That's all it is.
- 26:07Speaker 1: There you go.
- 26:08Speaker 2: The man jumped over a center to try and stop
- 26:11Speaker 2: a QB sneak that nobody stops. Like, if that's not competitive,
- 26:16Speaker 2: I don't know what it is.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Like, he's trying to win. Exactly. I love it. Great
- 26:21Speaker 1: way to end this game preview here. Eagles commanders week one.
