Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: Alright, Scarland, you're alive from Philly. It's the Folly and
- 0:09Speaker 1: Tony Foolsko Show. As always, Polly Fools go here with
- 0:15Speaker 1: Tony Foolsco and Tony Yo. Last week on the show
- 0:18Speaker 1: is terrible. Our guest, Celtics champion Eddie House, only the
- 0:24Speaker 1: worst guest we've ever had. He blew our sponsorship with
- 0:28Speaker 1: Hot Pockets because the suits at the company, they didn't
- 0:31Speaker 1: like how he kept saying. It made him fought uncontrollably. Yeah,
- 0:35Speaker 1: so we foughted him off the show. Well, it's even
- 0:38Speaker 1: worse this week. In fact, our guest this is what
- 0:42Speaker 1: we call in the business a bad booking. We asked
- 0:45Speaker 1: our guest booker to find someone who could talk about
- 0:48Speaker 1: the NBA. He comes through with a person who isn't
- 0:51Speaker 1: even from this country. He's from Canada. Yeah, we don't
- 0:55Speaker 1: talk raptors on this show unless it's Jurassic Park three.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Great movie. But you know that's not even the worst
- 1:01Speaker 1: part about this guy, this clown. He's kind of known
- 1:04Speaker 1: in the business for this gimmick he's got of making
- 1:07Speaker 1: fun of sports. And you know, we find that so
- 1:11Speaker 1: called comedic approach so disrespectful to all the players and
- 1:16Speaker 1: coaches who give their lives to these games. Yeah, this
- 1:20Speaker 1: is why when he was on the now canceled show
- 1:23Speaker 1: Fox Sports Live, all of America said no, thank Gil,
- 1:28Speaker 1: please leave, which is a shame because I really enjoyed
- 1:33Speaker 1: listening to Andy Roddick talk baseball and Gary Payton talk golf. Yep.
- 1:39Speaker 1: And you know we're gonna get in all of that
- 1:40Speaker 1: with him. His name's jay On right. Anyway, we do
- 1:44Speaker 1: have some good news a new presenting sponsor, because that's
- 1:47Speaker 1: what they do in the podcast world, they have presenting sponsors.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Ours is Rockos Chase Steaks. If you don't like Rockos,
- 1:55Speaker 1: you're a miserable prick fuck. Anyway, now that we got
- 1:59Speaker 1: that business out of the way, it's time for our
- 2:01Speaker 1: most popular segment where Polly and Tony were right. Where
- 2:05Speaker 1: Pauline and Tony were right, all right, first out the game.
- 2:12Speaker 1: You know, usually we say things on this show and
- 2:14Speaker 1: you immediately nowhere right. But you know sometimes it can
- 2:18Speaker 1: take fifteen to twenty years for you to know that
- 2:21Speaker 1: we're right. And well, that's the case here because we
- 2:24Speaker 1: said it years ago, didn't we Tony? Yep? Sure, dead
- 2:28Speaker 1: ron our Test was a man ahead of his time.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Visionary and as you can see by all the fighting
- 2:35Speaker 1: between fans and players in the NBA, you know Kyrie
- 2:39Speaker 1: with the water bottle, Westbrook and the popcorn that other
- 2:42Speaker 1: guy on the Hawks, people are finally coming around to
- 2:46Speaker 1: the idea that ron our Test was right all along exactly.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Ron our Test was a true humanitarian because he believed
- 2:56Speaker 1: in the idea that every man is created it equal
- 3:01Speaker 1: and therefore deserves to be punched in the face. I
- 3:05Speaker 1: believe everybody owes Mr. Artest apology and also us still right, Tony, yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 1: apologize where Pauli and Tony were right. You know, people
- 3:17Speaker 1: are upset because Shannon Shop, the cost of Undisputed, called
- 3:22Speaker 1: Falcon's wide receiver Julio Jones live on air and asked
- 3:26Speaker 1: him if he wanted to be traded. Now, Apparently Shannon
- 3:29Speaker 1: Shop did not tell Julio that he was live, and
- 3:33Speaker 1: Julio proceeded to reveal that he indeed wanted to be traded. Now.
- 3:37Speaker 1: You know, as we said, people are up in arms
- 3:40Speaker 1: about this. But Tony, we've been saying, this is journalism
- 3:44Speaker 1: at its finest, Isn't that right? Absolutely? In fact, people
- 3:49Speaker 1: always ask us how we get such great information from
- 3:52Speaker 1: our sources. It's easy. We call someone up and say yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 3:57Speaker 1: off the record, shore wink wink, what he and then
- 4:01Speaker 1: we proceed to tell you, Yeah, that's how you do it. People.
- 4:04Speaker 1: You want to see journalism Right now, people, we're gonna
- 4:08Speaker 1: call Aaron Rodgers right now, live on air. We're not
- 4:11Speaker 1: gonna tell him we're on air, and we're gonna get
- 4:13Speaker 1: the scoope to see if he's going to Denver or not.
- 4:17Speaker 1: J go ahead and dial that number we gave you.
- 4:24Speaker 1: We're sorry, the branded down wrong. Come on, Jane, fucking
- 4:30Speaker 1: up the show again anywhere. Let's just keep moving. We're
- 4:33Speaker 1: Paulie and Tony, who are right all right? Finally, people
- 4:37Speaker 1: love the bitch and moan about how ESPN doesn't do
- 4:40Speaker 1: good sports coverage anymore, and ESPN keeps proving them wrong,
- 4:45Speaker 1: as we always say. They recently announced and now it's
- 4:48Speaker 1: in production, a new thirty for thirty about the pre
- 4:52Speaker 1: eminent sporting event of the nineteen eighties and nineties. Of course,
- 4:56Speaker 1: I'm talking about American Gladiators, which fe so many legendary
- 5:01Speaker 1: athletes like Turbot, nitro cyclone accelerator and of course laser.
- 5:08Speaker 1: American Gladiators was the truest test of athleticism in all
- 5:13Speaker 1: of sports. The measure of athleticism isn't how fast you
- 5:17Speaker 1: can run and how hard you can hit a ball. No,
- 5:22Speaker 1: it's how fast you can avoid a tennis ball being
- 5:25Speaker 1: fired at you and shoot a Nerf bazuka at a
- 5:28Speaker 1: bull's eye. So true. And you know I've said this before, Tony.
- 5:32Speaker 1: One of my greatest disappointments was when the movie Gladiator
- 5:36Speaker 1: came out and I realized it wasn't about the TV show.
- 5:40Speaker 1: I know. The whole time watching I was like, when
- 5:43Speaker 1: is Russell Crowe gonna get to run in the eliminator
- 5:47Speaker 1: for a chance at ten thousand dollars? You know. Also
- 5:50Speaker 1: around that time, I went to go see American Beauty
- 5:52Speaker 1: thinking it was gonna be about lace, but I was
- 5:56Speaker 1: equally disappointed. Anyway, we could go on, but I see
- 5:59Speaker 1: our guests coming on the line. Although I wish he
- 6:02Speaker 1: had written down the wrong number so he wouldn't be here.
- 6:05Speaker 1: But it's too late. Now let's bring him on the
- 6:07Speaker 1: Fullskoll satellite network. He's the host of TSN Sports Center
- 6:14Speaker 1: in Canada. For those of you who don't know, TSN
- 6:18Speaker 1: is like ESPN acceptance in Canada and it has one
- 6:21Speaker 1: percent of the viewers. So you also may know him
- 6:24Speaker 1: as a former co host of Fox Sports Live with
- 6:26Speaker 1: his former partner there Dan O'Toole. That show had Andy Roddick,
- 6:29Speaker 1: Gary Payton so much star power I can't miss that
- 6:33Speaker 1: couldn't go wrong, but somehow did. Anyway, we'll get into that. JN. Right,
- 6:37Speaker 1: Welcome to the show. Oh, how are you guys doing? Good? Good? Good?
- 6:42Speaker 1: Thank you for coming on. You know, I bet in
- 6:45Speaker 1: Canada they like to start interviews all polite, like, you know,
- 6:49Speaker 1: how's your moves doing and whatnot. We don't do that
- 6:52Speaker 1: kind of softball ship here in America, so let's not
- 6:56Speaker 1: waste time here. Okay, you tried to make it in America,
- 6:59Speaker 1: did you, and it didn't work out. You tried to
- 7:03Speaker 1: make fun of the sacred institution known as American sports
- 7:08Speaker 1: with your so called comedy skits. Don't you think that
- 7:12Speaker 1: was a terrible approach? Is this real? Are we really
- 7:15Speaker 1: doing this? This actually happening? I can again there there
- 7:21Speaker 1: he goes with the comedy. You try it, you know.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Let me just tell you something. People don't find you
- 7:26Speaker 1: funny in Canada. The reason you think they're laughing, they're
- 7:29Speaker 1: actually just shivering because it's so fucking cold. You know,
- 7:32Speaker 1: that's what's going on there, right right, this is hilarious.
- 7:35Speaker 1: So far are we? How any listeners do we have?
- 7:42Speaker 1: He's better because we're national in America and he's up
- 7:46Speaker 1: in Canada, probably sitting in an igloo right now. Look,
- 7:49Speaker 1: all right, I'm gonna give you a chance. Let's just
- 7:51Speaker 1: get into some real sports conversation here. We'll give you
- 7:53Speaker 1: a chance. What are your thoughts on the recent fighting
- 7:56Speaker 1: between NBA fans and players? Come on, well, you know, gosh,
- 8:02Speaker 1: you don't want to see anyone get actually get hurt.
- 8:05Speaker 1: I mean the water bottle trucking the water bottle at
- 8:08Speaker 1: Kyrie was a little much. The kid running onto the
- 8:11Speaker 1: court and trying to grab the rim at the Wizards game,
- 8:15Speaker 1: why not? You know, as long as they can tackle
- 8:17Speaker 1: him and he doesn't, he doesn't get to anybody, doesn't
- 8:19Speaker 1: hurt anybody. I think that's okay. I mean, who, let's
- 8:23Speaker 1: be honest. We may not love nudity, but who among
- 8:26Speaker 1: us doesn't love a streaker? So I'd like to see
- 8:29Speaker 1: a few more streakers. We haven't seen that since not
- 8:33Speaker 1: enough public nudity. So I would like to implore all
- 8:37Speaker 1: the streakers listening, and I can imagine because this audience
- 8:41Speaker 1: is so fast that we have many many streakers listening
- 8:45Speaker 1: to us. As we see Tony Tony, I think he's
- 8:48Speaker 1: going he's trying comedy again, Please, no comment. Look, let's
- 8:53Speaker 1: just talk about road Test, you know, unfairly targeted. Don't
- 8:57Speaker 1: you think road Test deserves in a plogy he was
- 9:00Speaker 1: a man aead of his time. Well, I mean it's
- 9:03Speaker 1: someone from Canada, where our our national sport is hockey
- 9:07Speaker 1: and sport where you know you you work out your
- 9:10Speaker 1: differences on the ice with your fists. I couldn't agree
- 9:14Speaker 1: with you guys more. I mean I think I think
- 9:17Speaker 1: NBA players should be allowed to scrap a little bit
- 9:20Speaker 1: and uh, let those frustrating stuff. That's why things build
- 9:23Speaker 1: over the course of a series and get out of hand,
- 9:26Speaker 1: because you know, you don't get a chance to just
- 9:28Speaker 1: settle it like men, you know, like they would uh
- 9:31Speaker 1: in the squared circle as uh as you guys. This
- 9:34Speaker 1: is a very good serious Taking a step further, don't
- 9:38Speaker 1: you think that after a fan does something to a player,
- 9:41Speaker 1: there should be a two minute grace period where the
- 9:44Speaker 1: player can run into the stands and beat the ship
- 9:47Speaker 1: out of them. Doesn't that sound like a sensible solution,
- 9:52Speaker 1: seems Okay? I mean, what is what are your what
- 9:54Speaker 1: are your bosses at w w E? Think about that? Like,
- 9:57Speaker 1: what if the wrestlers could go What if they could
- 9:59Speaker 1: go into the stands and start and start pile driving
- 10:03Speaker 1: the fans to come to the double w w E shows.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I think that would be kind of cool, like a
- 10:07Speaker 1: real fan experience, right. I think you'll seem to be
- 10:12Speaker 1: confusing Tony with someone who maybe works at the w
- 10:16Speaker 1: w E. Yeah, we sell cost stereo, which just proves
- 10:19Speaker 1: how little you Canadians know about America. Shame on you, Okay,
- 10:25Speaker 1: I said, just maybe doing your research before coming on
- 10:28Speaker 1: this show. Oh I see, got it? Okay, anyway, enough
- 10:33Speaker 1: of your useless side tracking here. Let's go back to
- 10:37Speaker 1: you were on the air at ts N for a
- 10:39Speaker 1: long time. Then around you get a call from the
- 10:42Speaker 1: suits at Fox. What do they say to you? They said,
- 10:47Speaker 1: who wants to come work with what's your last names? Again?
- 10:51Speaker 1: The food skulls. I think this guy might have brain down. Yeah,
- 10:55Speaker 1: they said, why do you guys come down and work
- 10:57Speaker 1: with the foo? Skulls in l A And with an
- 10:59Speaker 1: offer that we couldn't refuse. We were down on Eco
- 11:02Speaker 1: Boulevard before you can say Canada Goose and it was
- 11:07Speaker 1: an absolute treat every second and we really loved working
- 11:11Speaker 1: with you two. You guys were our favorite. We did
- 11:13Speaker 1: shoot a couple of pilots there at thought we pulled
- 11:16Speaker 1: out of our contract to the creative disagree to creative
- 11:20Speaker 1: disagreements with Rupert Murdoch. Now, we heard from our inside
- 11:24Speaker 1: sources at Fox, very trusted sources, that you asked Andy
- 11:29Speaker 1: Roddick to be on the show with you because you
- 11:31Speaker 1: and Dan were afraid that you couldn't carry the show
- 11:34Speaker 1: by yourselves. Why was that Well, I think it was
- 11:39Speaker 1: just such a monumental undertaking a national sports highlight show.
- 11:44Speaker 1: We wanted to make sure we had Andy there to
- 11:47Speaker 1: comment on as many non tennis boards as we could
- 11:50Speaker 1: possibly get them to comment on. And I think the
- 11:54Speaker 1: ratings proved that we were absolutely correct in our approach.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Uh not. According to our sources, um, we saw that
- 12:03Speaker 1: one episode uh received seven viewers? Is that correct? Seven? Well?
- 12:10Speaker 1: Seven more than this podcast? No, not no, not no. See,
- 12:15Speaker 1: I know why you're angry, because you know we're getting too.
- 12:18Speaker 1: What is a sore spot for you? When you took
- 12:20Speaker 1: over the show, you realized you made a mistake because
- 12:23Speaker 1: all the sports were American sports and you didn't know
- 12:26Speaker 1: anything about them because all you know is hockey and
- 12:30Speaker 1: mounted police. I was a little bit a little bit daunting,
- 12:34Speaker 1: I will, I will have to say, you guys have
- 12:36Speaker 1: definitely touched them on something that is correct. Um say,
- 12:40Speaker 1: I thought we were just gonna do a hockey show,
- 12:42Speaker 1: and I should have known because Fox has sort of
- 12:45Speaker 1: a dicey history with hockey. If they're glowing puck and
- 12:47Speaker 1: all that stuff, great that that was a great move.
- 12:51Speaker 1: That was sometimes I still watch hockey today and I say,
- 12:55Speaker 1: where the hell is the puck? I can't see that?
- 12:57Speaker 1: Draw a blue mark on the screen us so I
- 13:00Speaker 1: can recreate it. Yes, yeah, yeah, no, that's I think
- 13:04Speaker 1: that's what we thought we were walking into. And then
- 13:06Speaker 1: suddenly we were covering all Big East basketball. And don't
- 13:10Speaker 1: get me wrong, the Big East was this popular as
- 13:14Speaker 1: it ever was. But but yeah, you guys are right.
- 13:18Speaker 1: We probably were in over our heads a little bit.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I don't know what. Yeah, I mean bigg E's basketball,
- 13:23Speaker 1: you know, Yeah, we know people I mean many people
- 13:26Speaker 1: in the neighborhood through the people say hey, we want
- 13:30Speaker 1: to watch more Seaton Hall basketball, and so lots of
- 13:33Speaker 1: Creighton Blue Jay's highlights. Yeah, I said, yes, that's a
- 13:37Speaker 1: great Creton Seaton Hall. Absolutely, what's better than a January
- 13:42Speaker 1: day with Creton Seaton Hall. Nothing. It was exciting. It
- 13:46Speaker 1: was very exciting to learn all about the history of
- 13:48Speaker 1: the Big East, the most powerful and influential basketball conference
- 13:52Speaker 1: in America today. I hope you said that. I think
- 13:56Speaker 1: he's serious. Thing. He's being serious. It's better when he's
- 14:00Speaker 1: say you know, it's just quick. You know, you did
- 14:02Speaker 1: a bunch of skits on that show, not very well received.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Tell us just some of these skits you did on
- 14:08Speaker 1: the show. I just I want to get a sense
- 14:09Speaker 1: of what you thought was funny. Then, well, you know,
- 14:13Speaker 1: we did a a sitcom pilot just like you guys,
- 14:18Speaker 1: with our friend former NFL flary from salam And it
- 14:22Speaker 1: was called Me and My Boys, and we had a
- 14:24Speaker 1: great theme song that a really talented young guy wrote
- 14:28Speaker 1: for us. We thought it was gonna be picked up,
- 14:30Speaker 1: it was gonna be the next new girl for Fox.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Um that unfortunately did not come to fruition. That was
- 14:37Speaker 1: pretty much it. Other than that, we played it straight.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I gotta tell you nothing about that seemed funny to
- 14:44Speaker 1: me whatsoever. That guy whoever wrote that not funny. We'll
- 14:48Speaker 1: show you what's funny that this this. You know, Tony
- 14:51Speaker 1: had a very funny tweet the other night about the
- 14:53Speaker 1: Sixes when they beat the Wizards. Tell him, Tony, what's
- 14:56Speaker 1: funny him? I tweeted Russell Westbrook more like Russell, give
- 15:02Speaker 1: me less Brooke t K likes Right there, he loves it,
- 15:08Speaker 1: he got it. He jealous, he loves it. I like
- 15:11Speaker 1: when tweets ever like a play on words. I find
- 15:14Speaker 1: that clever. Now you're getting Oh, then you'll love this one.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Later that night he had another home John Morett more
- 15:24Speaker 1: like John less Rent eight k likes. He can't even
- 15:31Speaker 1: hold it what it had more likes. But you know,
- 15:33Speaker 1: late game. I gotta tell you, guys, you're reaching skip
- 15:37Speaker 1: Bayliss territory with some of the reach that you were
- 15:40Speaker 1: achieving on some of these tweets. I'm very impressed. Didn't
- 15:44Speaker 1: Now do you see what's funny? Do you? Are you
- 15:46Speaker 1: getting a better sense of what might have worked better
- 15:49Speaker 1: here in America? Now is it clearer for you? Why?
- 15:52Speaker 1: Why why it didn't work out? I only wish we
- 15:55Speaker 1: had a chance to meet up and maybe throw around
- 15:59Speaker 1: some ideas together. Maybe that would have that would have
- 16:01Speaker 1: made things a little more successful down at Fox for us.
- 16:06Speaker 1: You know, I gotta be honest. I can't tell if
- 16:09Speaker 1: what you say in is real or if it's you know,
- 16:12Speaker 1: one of those Canadian sense of humor things that nobody
- 16:14Speaker 1: finds funny. Yeah, I'm just trying. I'm just hoping this
- 16:20Speaker 1: ends quickly. You know it a joke. Well, guess what,
- 16:26Speaker 1: jay On right, you're more like jay On wrong because
- 16:30Speaker 1: you're show dead out. I would tell you to leave,
- 16:36Speaker 1: but you're already in Canada, so you know, close enough?
- 16:41Speaker 1: All right? See it later up being sudcastic again. Oh
- 16:47Speaker 1: that terrible Canadian sense of humor. Jay, hang up the phone.
- 16:52Speaker 1: You know, I couldn't tell the whole time if he
- 16:55Speaker 1: was making fun of us and not. That's how bad
- 16:57Speaker 1: his sense of humor is. Yeah, Jay, I'm right, more
- 17:01Speaker 1: like ja Off right. See that. That's great? Right there?
- 17:06Speaker 1: A thousand likes anyway. Uh, let's just move on because,
- 17:11Speaker 1: as always, we have business to do at this point
- 17:14Speaker 1: in the show, and it's an ad for a big
- 17:17Speaker 1: name in the area of home loans, Rocket Mortgage. Can
- 17:23Speaker 1: you afford to buy a house? Of course you can't.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I mean, come on, have you seen the prices these days?
- 17:28Speaker 1: They're ridiculous. But that doesn't mean you can't get the
- 17:31Speaker 1: money to buy a house. Rocket Mortgage will give you
- 17:34Speaker 1: the money you need with zero repercussions for you, for
- 17:38Speaker 1: the American economic system, and that Tony, you just had
- 17:42Speaker 1: a great experience with Rocket Mortgage. Tell the people. Yeah,
- 17:47Speaker 1: the other day I brought this girl I was seeing,
- 17:49Speaker 1: Bianca back to my one bedroom apartment and she said,
- 17:54Speaker 1: this is all you can afford? And I said, all
- 17:59Speaker 1: I can afford. Ward, take a look at this, and
- 18:02Speaker 1: I showed her my application for Rocket Mortgage and then
- 18:07Speaker 1: she said, wow, you have enough to buy a house,
- 18:12Speaker 1: and I said, I'm about to. And she got so
- 18:16Speaker 1: turned on that we went into my bedroom, pulled out
- 18:20Speaker 1: the bed and went at it. The application ended up
- 18:25Speaker 1: not going through, but you know it did. Let's just
- 18:29Speaker 1: say it was my cock. What a wonderful story and
- 18:35Speaker 1: the true testament to the opportunities that Rocket Mortgage provides
- 18:40Speaker 1: its customers. Go now to Rocket mortgage dot com. Type
- 18:45Speaker 1: in the coupon code Polly and Tony Flawless Show twenty
- 18:49Speaker 1: and they'll give you one two percent off your application fee.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Great ed read alright, well load that wraps up a
- 18:58Speaker 1: advertisement and oh get that that wraps up the show.
- 19:02Speaker 1: So no corrections producing facility. Worst part of the show. Easy?
- 19:12Speaker 1: What number one? Number one? You guys keep calling him
- 19:16Speaker 1: run our test. Yeah, he's changed his name several times
- 19:20Speaker 1: since then. His name is now Meta Sandifford or Test.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well I'm gonna test right here, right now.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Then I'm gonna kill you after the show. Yeah, you
- 19:34Speaker 1: better run test for your life. Yeah, no more from
- 19:39Speaker 1: Come on, when you were mentioning American gladiators, you said
- 19:45Speaker 1: the names were Turbo, Nitro, Laser, cyclone, Accelerator. Yeah, there's
- 19:52Speaker 1: no gladiator name accelerator. Oh yeah, Well, after the show,
- 19:58Speaker 1: I'm going to accelerate my car into your Torso yeah,
- 20:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna be an American glad you're a deadI aida
