Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:06Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:10Speaker 1: Amy Torber. I'm Kate Torber. And I'm Sophie Torber. And
- 0:13Speaker 1: coming up on today's show, Matt Zukowski's tell-all interview with
- 0:17Speaker 1: the Daily Mail. And an Australian influencer is accused of
- 0:21Speaker 1: using AI to allegedly fake charity work. But first, Chloe
- 0:26Speaker 1: Zepp has confirmed she's packed up the family home she
- 0:28Speaker 1: shared with her fiancé and baby daddy, Mitch Orville. Yeah,
- 0:33Speaker 1: this made me sad because there was a part of
- 0:34Speaker 1: me that was still holding out hope that they may
- 0:36Speaker 1: get back together, but it seems quite final. So in
- 0:39Speaker 1: an Instagram story, she wrote, happy dance because I packed
- 0:42Speaker 1: up the entire house and it's done and dusted. A
- 0:45Speaker 1: bit of a weird move considering she hasn't actually publicly
- 0:48Speaker 1: stated they've broken up. Yeah, I don't understand why there
- 0:51Speaker 1: has been no announcement yet. It seems like they've been
- 0:54Speaker 1: drip feeding their followers and with this breakup. The only
- 0:58Speaker 1: reason I can think of is because they don't want
- 0:59Speaker 1: people to invade their privacy at this difficult time, but
- 1:02Speaker 1: then just don't share anything. Yeah. Why reveal that you've
- 1:04Speaker 1: moved out? And then, I mean, she's been taking photos
- 1:06Speaker 1: and saying that she's moved closer to the beach and
- 1:08Speaker 1: has been loving the new location. I mean, I suppose
- 1:11Speaker 1: maybe if she is now keen to open up more
- 1:13Speaker 1: about her life, she wants to let her followers in.
- 1:16Speaker 1: And she knows that it's a lucrative time for her
- 1:18Speaker 1: to do so because everyone is on breakup watch. Yeah,
- 1:20Speaker 1: but I don't think that that's how she's thinking. I
- 1:22Speaker 1: don't think she's thinking, oh, I'm going to be lucrative
- 1:25Speaker 1: with how I tell people about my breakup.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:27Speaker 1: Yes. It's not like she's been doing more paid promotions
- 1:30Speaker 1: or anything. They've got two kids involved. I think she's
- 1:33Speaker 1: just being mindful because... of the children, the fact that
- 1:37Speaker 1: this was a long term, like they were both engaged. Well,
- 1:40Speaker 1: that's why I'm saying that obviously don't want to go
- 1:41Speaker 1: into the nitty gritty of what went down by posting
- 1:44Speaker 1: a breakup video. They want to be respectful of one
- 1:46Speaker 1: another and their situation with their kids. But it is
- 1:49Speaker 1: quite interesting. If you don't want people to know these things,
- 1:51Speaker 1: then just don't post anything about it. I think that obviously,
- 1:54Speaker 1: I mean, Chloe's got to now move on with her life.
- 1:56Speaker 1: She no longer has an activewear brand. So a perfect
- 2:00Speaker 1: job for her would be influencing. It's something that she
- 2:02Speaker 1: can do with two young children. So Why not open
- 2:04Speaker 1: up about a few little things that don't impact things
- 2:07Speaker 1: too much? Well, at the start of the year, she
- 2:09Speaker 1: launched that sub stack and we haven't heard much about that.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I think she'll probably just get more into influencing and
- 2:15Speaker 1: paid promotion. She doesn't do a hell of a lot
- 2:17Speaker 1: of them on her page at the moment. But I
- 2:18Speaker 1: think the reality is that she will open up at
- 2:20Speaker 1: some point, but maybe when she feels like she can.
- 2:24Speaker 1: One more time's passed. Yeah, like this is obviously a
- 2:26Speaker 1: huge thing for her. So maybe she figures everybody knows
- 2:29Speaker 1: that we've split up. Like she's seen the headlines everywhere.
- 2:32Speaker 1: She's maybe listened to Outspoken. She knows people are talking.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I think she's listening to this. I'm just joking. But
- 2:36Speaker 1: I'm just saying she knows that people are aware that
- 2:38Speaker 1: they have broken up. Do you know what? And she
- 2:40Speaker 1: doesn't probably feel like she's in the right headspace to
- 2:42Speaker 1: be talking about it right now. I reckon we're going
- 2:44Speaker 1: to see her as an elite 11 ambassador soon because recently. Well,
- 2:50Speaker 1: because Tammy Hembrough's activewear line, Sasky, recently shut down. She's
- 2:54Speaker 1: now jumped on board as their ambassador. And it's really
- 2:56Speaker 1: weird to see her in the clothes. They know that
- 2:58Speaker 1: Chloe Zep obviously has an engaged following of people who
- 3:01Speaker 1: love activewear as well. I think she'll be the next ambassador.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I think they would have spent all their budget with
- 3:06Speaker 1: Tammy though. Like I think if you're going to pick
- 3:08Speaker 1: one big influencer and do you know what? If I
- 3:10Speaker 1: was them, I probably would have picked Chloe over Tammy.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I think Tammy's more controversial at this point. Getting back
- 3:16Speaker 1: to this move, it turns out it didn't run completely smoothly.
- 3:18Speaker 1: So Chloe revealed that she came across a snake and no,
- 3:21Speaker 1: it wasn't Artie's pet snake. It was actually a snake
- 3:24Speaker 1: in the wild. And she tried to like shoo it
- 3:27Speaker 1: away and got herself bitten. God, just what you need
- 3:30Speaker 1: when you're moving out from your ex and you've got
- 3:33Speaker 1: two young kids with me to be bitten by a snake. Like,
- 3:35Speaker 1: oh God, I've got to stop saying kick in the dick,
- 3:38Speaker 1: but that would be the ultimate kick in the dick
- 3:39Speaker 1: when you're trying to move on with your life. Stop
- 3:41Speaker 1: trying to make kick to the dick happen. I think
- 3:43Speaker 1: it already has happened. It's kick in the dick. From
- 3:46Speaker 1: the person that says it all the time, it's in,
- 3:48Speaker 1: not to. I think it has happened. People enjoy it.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Australian influencer Lily J has been accused of using AI
- 3:55Speaker 1: to allegedly fake charity work. The claims come after ABC
- 3:59Speaker 1: News Verify published an investigation into her foundation's social media content. Now,
- 4:05Speaker 1: before we get into the allegations, Kate, Can you tell
- 4:07Speaker 1: us who Lily J is? Well, her real name is
- 4:10Speaker 1: Lily J Hinson, and she is a 31-year-old Australian who
- 4:14Speaker 1: grew up on the Sunshine Coast. Now, over the last
- 4:17Speaker 1: couple of years, she has been documenting her conversion to
- 4:20Speaker 1: Islam on Instagram. And in doing so, she has gained
- 4:23Speaker 1: over 3 million followers. Now, she often appears on camera
- 4:27Speaker 1: wearing a hijab with her blonde hair poking out, and
- 4:30Speaker 1: she is very enthusiastic when she discusses her Islamic beliefs. Recently,
- 4:35Speaker 1: she set up a foundation called the Lily J Foundation,
- 4:38Speaker 1: which also gained a large following online. Now, according to
- 4:41Speaker 1: the foundation's website, its mission is to provide rapid humanitarian
- 4:46Speaker 1: aid to people affected by war, poverty and disasters around
- 4:49Speaker 1: the world. It also describes itself as a next generation
- 4:52Speaker 1: social enterprise. and high-speed humanitarian logistics firm rather than a
- 4:57Speaker 1: registered charity. Now Lily's move into Islamic influencing is a
- 5:02Speaker 1: pretty big pivot from the past content that she used
- 5:04Speaker 1: to share. So previously she worked as a burlesque dancer
- 5:08Speaker 1: and performed at the Moulin Rouge. She also tried to
- 5:11Speaker 1: break into the music industry. So she has released a
- 5:14Speaker 1: debut single and a music video, which was called Renovate.
- 5:17Speaker 1: It's pretty wild when you scroll back and have a
- 5:18Speaker 1: look at her old content because there's photos of her,
- 5:20Speaker 1: you know, on these tropical holidays wearing bikinis like any
- 5:24Speaker 1: travel influencer would have back at that time. Now let's
- 5:26Speaker 1: get into the video at the center of this investigation.
- 5:29Speaker 1: So it showed Lily at an orphanage in Uganda. And
- 5:33Speaker 1: in the vision, she announced that the orphanage is now open,
- 5:37Speaker 1: clearly presenting it as one of the foundation's humanitarian projects.
- 5:42Speaker 1: But it turns out that the investigation found that Lily
- 5:46Speaker 1: was actually AI-generated. The ABC also could not independently verify
- 5:52Speaker 1: that the orphanage existed. Disturbingly, it also showed that some
- 5:56Speaker 1: of the children in the video were also AI generated,
- 5:59Speaker 1: as well as the foundation's banners and logos. This is
- 6:02Speaker 1: someone who's paying for ChatGPT, surely. Yeah, she must have
- 6:05Speaker 1: a membership. Or maybe it's the free version, because obviously
- 6:08Speaker 1: it was pretty shit if the ABC has picked up
- 6:10Speaker 1: on it. And this goes beyond this video. So ABC
- 6:14Speaker 1: News Verify also challenged the legitimacy of a humanitarian award
- 6:18Speaker 1: that Lily claimed to receive. It too appears to have
- 6:21Speaker 1: been created using AI and Lily appears to be a
- 6:24Speaker 1: founder of the PR company who announced the award. God,
- 6:28Speaker 1: this goes really deep, doesn't it? Like this is actually wild. Well,
- 6:33Speaker 1: the foundation is yet to publicly respond to the ABC's
- 6:36Speaker 1: detailed questions. However, Upon receiving them, they made several changes
- 6:42Speaker 1: to their marketing. So the option to donate from their
- 6:45Speaker 1: Australian website was removed. However, interestingly, you can still donate
- 6:50Speaker 1: via their international website. They've also gone and removed website pages,
- 6:54Speaker 1: which featured material that the ABC questioned, as well as
- 6:57Speaker 1: the video material at the orphanage opening, among other videos.
- 7:01Speaker 1: So they've gone and done a full cult. A dirty delete.
- 7:04Speaker 1: In saying that though, I had a look at Lily's
- 7:06Speaker 1: page and the majority of her content still remains on
- 7:09Speaker 1: her social media accounts. This story obviously made massive headlines
- 7:12Speaker 1: because not only does it feature an influencer who people
- 7:15Speaker 1: love to judge, but it also features AI. And I
- 7:18Speaker 1: think AI is the new thing that everyone's panicking about
- 7:20Speaker 1: at the moment. And this story is obviously particularly troubling
- 7:24Speaker 1: because she's being accused of using it to encourage people
- 7:26Speaker 1: to make donations based on what they're seeing. Yeah, to
- 7:29Speaker 1: her own charity. Like, where is the money going? And
- 7:31Speaker 1: it's really disturbing because what makes this situation even more
- 7:35Speaker 1: confusing is that ABC found that some videos appeared to
- 7:38Speaker 1: have a mix of genuine footage with AI-generated footage. So
- 7:42Speaker 1: it's very difficult for viewers to actually distinguish what is
- 7:45Speaker 1: real and what is fake. This is why we need
- 7:47Speaker 1: the public broadcaster. Like, nobody does investigations online. quite like
- 7:51Speaker 1: the ABC. Isn't there a new feature though on Instagram
- 7:54Speaker 1: where if you have AI'd something or even slightly edited something,
- 7:59Speaker 1: it will pop up and point it out to people?
- 8:01Speaker 1: It's got a filter that's, yeah. Like a disclaimer. There is,
- 8:04Speaker 1: but I think because, I mean, I think Molly May's
- 8:07Speaker 1: birth announcement came up with an AI disclaimer because it
- 8:09Speaker 1: was black and white. Like I think because it's tipped
- 8:12Speaker 1: off so easily by, you know, a filter or something,
- 8:15Speaker 1: I think people easily look over it. I mean, it's
- 8:18Speaker 1: crazy to think the impact that AI is set to
- 8:20Speaker 1: have on influencer culture moving forward. Because I mean, only
- 8:23Speaker 1: a few years ago, we thought that Facetune and filters
- 8:27Speaker 1: were really bad, but this is a whole new level.
- 8:29Speaker 1: People can actually generate entire people, events and experiences. It's
- 8:33Speaker 1: disturbing as well, because obviously in this case, this person
- 8:36Speaker 1: is using it for bad. Can't we just use AI
- 8:38Speaker 1: for good? Like can't somebody invent an avatar of me
- 8:41Speaker 1: to appear in Teams meetings? Can we use it for good, please?
- 8:45Speaker 1: On a serious level, though, what Lily is accused of
- 8:48Speaker 1: doing is fraud. And it's incredibly disturbing when you do
- 8:51Speaker 1: look at how she pivoted her content to be something
- 8:56Speaker 1: that I deem is quite lucrative. It's this blonde young
- 8:59Speaker 1: woman who's doing this humanitarian work. We all know, particularly
- 9:02Speaker 1: on TikTok, that I don't want to say do good,
- 9:05Speaker 1: but videos of people doing good gets a lot of engagement.
- 9:08Speaker 1: And it seems pretty clear that she's always wanted to
- 9:11Speaker 1: make a name for herself on social media and income
- 9:15Speaker 1: for herself. So she thought, oh, what can I make
- 9:17Speaker 1: the most money from? And as I've said- It's a
- 9:19Speaker 1: bit of a bizarre pivot though, just to- Yeah, it
- 9:21Speaker 1: worked for her. I mean, the fact that she's attracted
- 9:23Speaker 1: 3 million followers in a very short amount of time
- 9:26Speaker 1: for posting this Islamic content. The sad reality is, even
- 9:30Speaker 1: though the ABC has done this big investigation into her,
- 9:34Speaker 1: she's still brazenly continuing to do what she's done. I mean,
- 9:37Speaker 1: she might've tweaked a few website pages, but most of
- 9:40Speaker 1: her followers wouldn't have seen the story and it won't
- 9:43Speaker 1: probably change the way that they donate. And it makes
- 9:46Speaker 1: me think, what can we do to prevent this type
- 9:48Speaker 1: of behavior? I mean, you've spoken about how Instagram has
- 9:51Speaker 1: these disclaimers, but our audience is now going to start
- 9:54Speaker 1: demanding more proof of influencers. And I don't mean just
- 9:56Speaker 1: for charity work, but I mean with everything, like how
- 9:58Speaker 1: can we trust anything we see online?
- 10:00Speaker 2: At this point?
- 10:00Speaker 1: A lot of people think that it's just the older
- 10:02Speaker 1: generation that's getting tricked by AI, but I saw this
- 10:06Speaker 1: video and there was nothing that really stood out to
- 10:08Speaker 1: me that this was fake because AI is getting so good.
- 10:12Speaker 1: And that's the scary part that how many of us
- 10:15Speaker 1: are going to be fooled in the future? Think of
- 10:16Speaker 1: all the dating scams. I mean, the fact that the
- 10:19Speaker 1: ABC had to run it through special software to verify
- 10:21Speaker 1: the fact that this was AI generated. If I was
- 10:24Speaker 1: a legitimate charity operating in Australia now, I'd be very
- 10:27Speaker 1: nervous for any marketing that I was doing. Because as
- 10:31Speaker 1: we've said, I think that now people are on high
- 10:33Speaker 1: alert of any scam surrounding charities. I wonder if a
- 10:37Speaker 1: lot of those charities have seen a decline in people
- 10:39Speaker 1: wanting to donate to them purely for that reason because
- 10:41Speaker 1: they don't believe that it's real. I mean, these types
- 10:44Speaker 1: of videos are clearly going to damage trust in charity creators.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I mean, moving forward, they're going to have to actually
- 10:49Speaker 1: provide proof of what they're doing. From watching it, I
- 10:51Speaker 1: felt like the vibe was off.
- 10:54Speaker 3: As if there was some underlying thing going on.
- 10:58Speaker 2: No, not as far as I'm concerned.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Matt Zukowski's tell-all interview about his marriage breakdown to Tammy
- 11:05Speaker 1: Hembrough has finally dropped, almost a year to the day
- 11:08Speaker 1: they announced their breakup. The former Love Islander sat down
- 11:12Speaker 1: with a Daily Mail journalist to dish the dirt in
- 11:14Speaker 1: the publication's newest video podcast called The Debrief. I've got
- 11:19Speaker 1: to say, this whole thing has really thrown me because
- 11:22Speaker 1: a day before the interview dropped, Matt teased the episode
- 11:25Speaker 1: in a joint post with the Daily Mail and And
- 11:28Speaker 1: they jumped on board the whole Netflix, doco, TikTok trend.
- 11:32Speaker 1: And they mocked him up sitting down for this tell-all interview,
- 11:35Speaker 1: except he actually was. Now, in the vision, he sat
- 11:38Speaker 1: down on a seat in front of a podcast microphone
- 11:41Speaker 1: and played up to the camera alongside the caption, preparing
- 11:44Speaker 1: for my exclusive sit down because we need to settle
- 11:46Speaker 1: some rumors. See, I didn't even get that that was
- 11:49Speaker 1: them attempting to do that TikTok trend. Like it didn't land.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I mean, I was like, oh yes, oh my God,
- 11:54Speaker 1: spill your gut. The way this reel played out was
- 11:56Speaker 1: a real shame because I don't think it was indicative
- 11:58Speaker 1: of what Matt actually said in the interview. If anything,
- 12:01Speaker 1: he really held back and was quite respectful. But if
- 12:03Speaker 1: you hadn't heard the interview, you'd be thinking, oh, this
- 12:06Speaker 1: guy's thirsty for attention. He's going to spill his guts
- 12:09Speaker 1: about his ex-wife. Like it didn't paint him in the
- 12:11Speaker 1: best light, even though I think moving forward from the breakup.
- 12:14Speaker 1: He's actually been incredibly respectful and his PR team have
- 12:17Speaker 1: played it really well. Yeah. Particularly when the majority of
- 12:20Speaker 1: people who watch The Real probably won't tune into the
- 12:22Speaker 1: 52 minute episode. I think the thing that confused me
- 12:26Speaker 1: the most out of all of this though, is I
- 12:27Speaker 1: didn't actually realize the Daily Mail had their own podcast.
- 12:31Speaker 1: And it turns out that's because the episode with Matt
- 12:34Speaker 1: was their pilot episode. I mean, it's a good way
- 12:36Speaker 1: to launch, isn't it? Because everyone has been wanting to
- 12:38Speaker 1: get that exclusive interview with Matt. I mean, he did
- 12:41Speaker 1: a few radio interviews, but no one has seemed to
- 12:43Speaker 1: have actually gotten information out of him. I want to
- 12:45Speaker 1: talk about this podcast because it's hosted by journalist Savannah Young,
- 12:49Speaker 1: and it's not the Daily Mail's first go at podcasting.
- 12:52Speaker 1: So earlier this year, they debuted a Maths Unleashed podcast
- 12:56Speaker 1: and it ended up notching up about 1.5 million views
- 12:59Speaker 1: on YouTube. So obviously they've seen that this is a
- 13:01Speaker 1: lucrative market for them to get into. Now, according to
- 13:04Speaker 1: the debriefs bio, each week Savannah will be sitting down
- 13:07Speaker 1: with the biggest names in entertainment, social media, and pop
- 13:10Speaker 1: culture to unpack the headlines, the rumors, and the stories
- 13:13Speaker 1: everyone is talking about. I'm interested to see who else
- 13:16Speaker 1: they're going to get on board because there are a
- 13:18Speaker 1: lot of A-listers and influencers who hate the Daily Mail
- 13:23Speaker 1: and won't really be wanting to open up. I found
- 13:26Speaker 1: it a really interesting choice by Matt to pick the
- 13:28Speaker 1: Daily Mail's podcast because he, of course, has his own
- 13:31Speaker 1: podcast that he could have opened up on. And for
- 13:34Speaker 1: him to actually pick the publication that, as you said,
- 13:37Speaker 1: is not well respected by celebrities and public figures, it
- 13:41Speaker 1: tells me two things. The first is he's clearly formed
- 13:44Speaker 1: a relationship with the Daily Mail and their journalists over
- 13:46Speaker 1: the last couple of years to have enough trust in
- 13:49Speaker 1: them to let them do it. Secondly, it signals that
- 13:52Speaker 1: this was a very deliberate attempt to share his side
- 13:55Speaker 1: of the story because you can hardly do an interview
- 13:57Speaker 1: with the Daily Mail's podcast and then claim, oh, I
- 13:58Speaker 1: didn't know that they were going to ask me that.
- 14:00Speaker 1: It's also interesting timing because I would say his relevance
- 14:05Speaker 1: in regards to him and Tammy's relationship is running out
- 14:08Speaker 1: of time for him to speak on it. Well, particularly
- 14:10Speaker 1: because she's got a new boyfriend. I mean, it's interesting
- 14:13Speaker 1: it came right off the back of Tammy speaking on
- 14:15Speaker 1: Emily Hembrough's podcast about Matt. And also the fact that
- 14:18Speaker 1: they've nearly been broken up with for over a year. Well,
- 14:20Speaker 1: the fact that you said, Kate, obviously he has some
- 14:22Speaker 1: sort of relationship or connection with this journalist, it makes
- 14:25Speaker 1: it sound like maybe he's been feeding stories off Well,
- 14:29Speaker 1: the strangest thing is Savannah was actually the journalist that
- 14:32Speaker 1: was on site at his wedding to report on it.
- 14:35Speaker 1: So she even asked him about the drones that they
- 14:37Speaker 1: flew over the ceremony. She's like, oh, did you know
- 14:40Speaker 1: that we were there? And he's like, oh, well, we
- 14:41Speaker 1: got it tipped off, but we actually thought it was
- 14:43Speaker 1: our own drone. So Kate, you and Savannah, maybe you
- 14:46Speaker 1: should have a Tammy Hembrough off. in terms of how
- 14:49Speaker 1: much information. I think a lot of people were saying though,
- 14:52Speaker 1: why was Matt not on Outspoken? Well, I think that's
- 14:54Speaker 1: where the exclusive interview should have come first. I mean,
- 14:57Speaker 1: when I was listening to his interview with Savannah, I
- 15:00Speaker 1: was like, oh, she seems to know her stuff because
- 15:02Speaker 1: she was like, oh, do you remember this? Do you
- 15:03Speaker 1: remember that? And he's like, oh, I actually don't recall that.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Like she seems to know more than him. But then
- 15:08Speaker 1: some of her facts were actually incorrect. And I was like, see, yeah,
- 15:11Speaker 1: we had this conversation. I think you'd only listened to
- 15:13Speaker 1: a portion of it. And you're like, oh, she knew it.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I was like, I knew my shit. I should have
- 15:17Speaker 1: done it. As you said, I did a PhD in
- 15:19Speaker 1: Tammy and Matt's relationship. We extensively covered it in our
- 15:21Speaker 1: deep dive. And as you said, there were a few
- 15:23Speaker 1: gaps in knowledge. Firstly, she thought their engagement happened six
- 15:27Speaker 1: months into their relationship. No, it was three. To her credit,
- 15:31Speaker 1: she really didn't hold back in this interview. I'd say 80%
- 15:34Speaker 1: of the 52 minutes was about Tammy and Matt's relationship. Well,
- 15:37Speaker 1: that's what I liked because he was kind of not
- 15:39Speaker 1: giving much back. Like he would give a sort of
- 15:41Speaker 1: nothing response and she would go back at him, which
- 15:45Speaker 1: we're not used to hearing because so often we've heard
- 15:48Speaker 1: Tammy on podcasts which are literally run by her own
- 15:50Speaker 1: influence of friends or family who they don't do any
- 15:53Speaker 1: hard questioning. And it was actually refreshing to hear a
- 15:56Speaker 1: journalist interviewing someone and being like, hold on, what do
- 15:58Speaker 1: you mean by that? I wouldn't have minded hearing Megan
- 15:59Speaker 1: Posteto interview her. Yes. That would have been quite good too. Yeah,
- 16:03Speaker 1: I mean I think that's one of the positives of
- 16:04Speaker 1: him going on this podcast because if he did it
- 16:06Speaker 1: on his own podcast– you wouldn't have had that experience.
- 16:09Speaker 1: I noticed that Savannah used a very known journalistic technique
- 16:13Speaker 1: to try and butter Matt up in the first couple
- 16:15Speaker 1: of minutes. So I was like, oh, God, like this
- 16:18Speaker 1: is boring because she was asking him about his movie reviews.
- 16:21Speaker 1: But clearly she was trying to make him feel comfortable
- 16:23Speaker 1: to actually, you know, ask some of the harder hitting questions.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Now let's not give those tactics away because if we
- 16:28Speaker 1: end up interviewing Matt at some point. We are interested
- 16:31Speaker 1: in your movies, Matt. Do you know what? I think
- 16:33Speaker 1: that whole movie stuff is really sweet. And I think
- 16:36Speaker 1: he has been clearly schooled by his PR team about
- 16:41Speaker 1: what type of other content he should be posting because
- 16:43Speaker 1: his reels and TikToks are actually for want of a
- 16:46Speaker 1: better phrase, popping off. So what Amy is doing here
- 16:49Speaker 1: is she's concerned that Matt is going to listen to
- 16:50Speaker 1: this podcast and is trying to butter him up as
- 16:52Speaker 1: a journalist. No, but I have said so many times
- 16:54Speaker 1: on this podcast that I am 100% team Matt Zukowski.
- 16:58Speaker 1: The thing is, I think also it's quite clear that
- 17:02Speaker 1: he has spoken to his management team and they've gone
- 17:05Speaker 1: through what he is and is not going to say
- 17:09Speaker 1: because he was quite strong on saying, sorry, I'm not
- 17:11Speaker 1: going to go into that. He really was trying to
- 17:13Speaker 1: portray himself as the nice guy and he did come
- 17:16Speaker 1: across as that. And if you knew what he could
- 17:18Speaker 1: have said, Jesus. I mean, we've been referring to this
- 17:22Speaker 1: interview as a tell-all, but let's be honest, it was
- 17:24Speaker 1: a little bit of a letdown for those who want
- 17:26Speaker 1: to know the juicy details because ultimately, as you said, Soph,
- 17:29Speaker 1: he remained pretty respectful to Tammy and her family. And
- 17:32Speaker 1: he stuck to the usual line of messaging that we've
- 17:34Speaker 1: heard over the last year that he wanted to protect
- 17:36Speaker 1: his mental health and he's keeping the breakup private out
- 17:39Speaker 1: of respect. There were also a lot of references to
- 17:42Speaker 1: healing and being over the situation. He said quite a
- 17:45Speaker 1: number of times, that he hasn't thought about the situation
- 17:48Speaker 1: for a long time. Let's take a listen.
- 17:50Speaker 2: At the end of the day, there is just two
- 17:53Speaker 2: people that know what happened. Do they have different perspectives
- 17:56Speaker 2: on it? Sure. Am I going to sit here and
- 18:00Speaker 2: like argue my point and like, you know, sling so
- 18:04Speaker 2: then she can sling it back? No, I've come past that. Like,
- 18:08Speaker 2: I mean, as soon as I left the relationship, I
- 18:10Speaker 2: went straight to therapy. And I found a lot of
- 18:13Speaker 2: comfort in doing that. And I there spoke about it.
- 18:17Speaker 2: And I mean, I came over like months of therapy.
- 18:21Speaker 2: I came to like a realization that leaving was the
- 18:25Speaker 2: best decision I could have made for myself and my
- 18:28Speaker 2: own mental health.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I was going to say, it was quite funny because
- 18:31Speaker 1: there are a number of times where Savannah would bring
- 18:34Speaker 1: up this really petty shit. Like she's like, so did
- 18:36Speaker 1: you realize that she posted on your birthday that this
- 18:38Speaker 1: video of her and Grayson. And he's like, oh, sorry,
- 18:41Speaker 1: I'm not really interested in her life anymore. And I
- 18:43Speaker 1: don't actually follow her and I'm not, I don't really care.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I mean, she did push him a little bit. She
- 18:47Speaker 1: asked flat out who was the one that made the
- 18:49Speaker 1: final decision to leave the marriage. And he confirmed it
- 18:51Speaker 1: was him that actually packed up his stuff and left.
- 18:53Speaker 1: He said, because it was a marriage, it wasn't just
- 18:55Speaker 1: like a flat out, I'm never coming back. He did
- 18:57Speaker 1: return to the Gold Coast a couple of times to
- 18:59Speaker 1: try and make it work. But ultimately he said he
- 19:02Speaker 1: knew it was never going to work. We've got to
- 19:04Speaker 1: jump into what was actually new that we learned. So
- 19:07Speaker 1: We did find out that Matt still has his tattoos
- 19:10Speaker 1: dedicated to multiple exes, may I add, on him. Yeah,
- 19:13Speaker 1: because a lot of people thought that the tattoo dedicated
- 19:15Speaker 1: to his ex, Jen, who was the one he was
- 19:17Speaker 1: with before Tammy, had been removed because he, of course,
- 19:20Speaker 1: did that paid partnership with a numbing cream brand. Numb it,
- 19:23Speaker 1: wasn't it? Yeah, and he filmed himself getting his first
- 19:26Speaker 1: laser removal session. It turns out that session was actually
- 19:29Speaker 1: so painful. He instead got the tattoo filled in in black.
- 19:33Speaker 1: You're kidding me. That numb it doesn't work? So instead
- 19:36Speaker 1: of a love heart with Jen written inside of it,
- 19:38Speaker 1: it's now just a black heart. I wonder how numb
- 19:41Speaker 1: it feels. Well, he also confirmed that he still has
- 19:44Speaker 1: his Tammy tattoo on his hip. He said he hasn't
- 19:46Speaker 1: really found the time to go and get it removed yet.
- 19:48Speaker 1: He also still has... his wedding anniversary date tattooed on
- 19:52Speaker 1: his knee, which he'd Said does make for awkward conversation.
- 19:54Speaker 1: It cracked me up because when Savannah was asking about
- 19:57Speaker 1: the wedding, he actually tried to pull his jeans up
- 20:00Speaker 1: so he could see the date and was like, oh, yep,
- 20:02Speaker 1: it was the 23rd actually.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 20:04Speaker 1: I mean, it seems like he might not even remove
- 20:06Speaker 1: some of these exes' names on his ass. He seems
- 20:08Speaker 1: to have a bit of a plan. Let's throw to
- 20:10Speaker 1: what he said.
- 20:11Speaker 2: I wanted to get all my exes in love hearts
- 20:14Speaker 2: on my ass and then get, like, a crack through
- 20:16Speaker 2: them all. But then Anna did say, like, when you
- 20:19Speaker 2: meet your person, they're not going to like that. But
- 20:22Speaker 2: I said, if they are my person, they'll understand my
- 20:24Speaker 2: humour and they'll understand it.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I see that.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Do you know what I mean? That's true.
- 20:29Speaker 1: But I think, yeah.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I don't think many women would appreciate a guy with
- 20:32Speaker 2: all his exes in love hearts cracked on their bum.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Can you imagine dating a guy who actually had these
- 20:41Speaker 1: tattoos on his ass? Like, I think you'd have to
- 20:43Speaker 1: have a certain type of humor to find this funny. Again,
- 20:46Speaker 1: maybe that's his person. I mean, it almost looks like
- 20:48Speaker 1: a bit of a body count, doesn't it? I kind
- 20:50Speaker 1: of agreed with Anna's comments that she said, you know,
- 20:52Speaker 1: when you meet your person, they're not going to like that. Oh,
- 20:55Speaker 1: definitely not. It's just a constant reminder. I love that
- 20:58Speaker 1: he's got Anna in his life, though, because she seems
- 21:00Speaker 1: to be that friend who actually points him in the
- 21:02Speaker 1: right direction.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:03Speaker 1: About 10 years ago when I was working as a
- 21:04Speaker 1: news reporter, I did a story about the boom in
- 21:07Speaker 1: tattoo removal and there was one guy who'd gone in
- 21:11Speaker 1: and he was wanting to get his girlfriend's name removed
- 21:14Speaker 1: off his neck and the tattoo artist had convinced him, no, no,
- 21:17Speaker 1: don't worry about removal. We can actually just do a cover.
- 21:19Speaker 1: And they just got a stamp over it which said C-U-N-T.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Oh.
- 21:24Speaker 1: And then he ended up having to get it like lasered. Wait,
- 21:28Speaker 1: so you included that in your story? No, that was
- 21:31Speaker 1: just a photo example that this laser person had. Let's
- 21:34Speaker 1: move on to the tidbits we found out about Tammy
- 21:37Speaker 1: and Matt's wedding. So Matt firstly debunked the rumor that
- 21:41Speaker 1: he and Tammy weren't legally married. So he confirmed he
- 21:43Speaker 1: signed the papers. I was pretty surprised because I thought
- 21:46Speaker 1: Savannah might have actually pushed Matt to talk about the
- 21:49Speaker 1: prenup at this point, but there was no mention of it.
- 21:51Speaker 1: I mean, The Daily Mail extensively covered that story like
- 21:54Speaker 1: we did. The bit that I loved the most was
- 21:56Speaker 1: hearing that he and Tammy actually decided to initially elope
- 22:00Speaker 1: after watching the episode of Friends where Ross and Rachel
- 22:04Speaker 1: get married in Vegas. Like I was like, that is
- 22:07Speaker 1: fucking iconic. It turns out they even had a courthouse
- 22:10Speaker 1: wedding date booked, but his co-host Anna encouraged him to
- 22:15Speaker 1: get Tammy a promise ring instead and to propose when
- 22:18Speaker 1: they went on holiday in the Maldives. Again, the voice
- 22:20Speaker 1: of reason. How funny was it when Matt was asked
- 22:23Speaker 1: about having his wedding in Vogue and you could tell
- 22:25Speaker 1: he was really chuffed about it because he's like, yeah,
- 22:27Speaker 1: it was pretty cool. I mean, he ended up saying like, look,
- 22:30Speaker 1: it's not really about the groom. Well, in saying that,
- 22:32Speaker 1: that actually made him come across as genuine because, I mean,
- 22:35Speaker 1: to be truthful, who wouldn't be a bit starstruck having
- 22:37Speaker 1: their wedding in Vogue if he was like, oh, no,
- 22:39Speaker 1: it didn't bother me. You'd just be like, bullshit. Well,
- 22:42Speaker 1: Savannah really tried to get it out of Matt how
- 22:44Speaker 1: this whole Vogue deal came to be. And he claimed
- 22:48Speaker 1: he couldn't remember and maybe it was the wedding planner.
- 22:50Speaker 1: But I felt like he could remember and he just
- 22:51Speaker 1: didn't want to say. I actually don't think he could
- 22:53Speaker 1: because I think a lot of the time men aren't
- 22:54Speaker 1: really involved in the wedding process. In saying that, wasn't
- 22:57Speaker 1: Tammy saying that he was super keen in planning the wedding? So, yeah,
- 23:01Speaker 1: maybe his team pushed for it. Yeah, but maybe her
- 23:04Speaker 1: team did it. It's a Vogue curse, isn't it, as well? Yeah,
- 23:07Speaker 1: I'm surprised you didn't ask him about that. I mean,
- 23:09Speaker 1: I suppose you don't want to admit that you reached
- 23:12Speaker 1: out to them. You kind of want to act like, oh, no,
- 23:14Speaker 1: the wedding was so big that we were approached. You know,
- 23:17Speaker 1: I was also shocked that Savannah didn't ask about Was
- 23:20Speaker 1: the incident at the Hux party where they captured that video,
- 23:24Speaker 1: the photos of them basically having an argument in the
- 23:26Speaker 1: car park? That was all connected to the prenup. That's
- 23:29Speaker 1: why I was surprised that wasn't brought up at all.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Maybe that was like something that the management company, they
- 23:33Speaker 1: probably had a list of things. We're not touching on this, this, this,
- 23:36Speaker 1: and this, because I think there's probably broader stories to
- 23:38Speaker 1: all of that.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:39Speaker 1: There was not, there was heaps that wasn't touched on.
- 23:41Speaker 2: No.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I mean, we've heard Matt obviously talk about his mum
- 23:45Speaker 1: a lot. Like he actually moved in with his mum
- 23:48Speaker 1: after the breakup and And she's been a very supportive
- 23:50Speaker 1: person in his life. But we actually haven't heard him
- 23:52Speaker 1: mention how influential his dad was in all of this.
- 23:55Speaker 1: So it turns out it was Matt's dad who flagged
- 23:58Speaker 1: to him how different he seemed moving to the Gold Coast.
- 24:01Speaker 1: So his dad used to pick him up from the
- 24:03Speaker 1: airport and go, wow, there's such a change with you
- 24:06Speaker 1: when you get in the car to when I drop
- 24:08Speaker 1: you off after you've actually seen all your family and friends.
- 24:11Speaker 1: And he said that it was actually a tearful phone
- 24:13Speaker 1: call from his dad, which made him think, okay, I've
- 24:15Speaker 1: actually got to leave Tammy now. Like this is enough.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:18Speaker 1: And Matt was saying, look, my dad's not really an
- 24:20Speaker 1: emotional person. So the fact it was coming from him
- 24:23Speaker 1: meant a lot to him. Now, Savannah also brought up
- 24:26Speaker 1: the now infamous podcast where Tammy's sisters, Emily and Amy
- 24:30Speaker 1: unleashed on Matt on his own podcast, Again, she thought
- 24:34Speaker 1: it was their podcast. I'm like, no, it was on
- 24:35Speaker 1: his podcast. Now, as a refresher, let's go down memory lane.
- 24:40Speaker 4: I just hope you know marriage is a serious thing.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Yeah, you have said that to me before.
- 24:45Speaker 4: It is actually a serious thing and, like, I hope
- 24:50Speaker 4: you don't make any mistakes. Like, I really pray and
- 24:53Speaker 4: hope that you don't do anything to hurt Tammy.
- 24:56Speaker 2: I'm not going to hurt Tammy. I have no intention
- 24:59Speaker 2: of hurting Tammy.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I was a bit surprised to hear Matt defending Emily
- 25:02Speaker 1: and Amy. I thought he might sort of throw a
- 25:05Speaker 1: few couple of comments their way. But in saying that,
- 25:09Speaker 1: I think that he really is trying to be above
- 25:11Speaker 1: the situation. He actually said that the podcast interview was
- 25:15Speaker 1: all perceived in the wrong way and it didn't play
- 25:17Speaker 1: out in the way they expected. Let's take a listen
- 25:20Speaker 1: to what he said.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Okay, that podcast, we did not get received as we thought.
- 25:28Speaker 2: I've spoken to my producers and managers about that. We
- 25:31Speaker 2: wanted it to be controversial, but we think that everyone
- 25:34Speaker 2: just saw it a little bit different from how we
- 25:36Speaker 2: wanted it to.
- 25:37Speaker 1: From watching it, I felt like the vibe was off. Yeah,
- 25:40Speaker 1: that was fine.
- 25:40Speaker 3: As if there was some underlying thing going on.
- 25:44Speaker 2: No, not as far as I'm concerned. Maybe I'm oblivious
- 25:47Speaker 2: to it.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Did anyone else notice he kept covering his mouth and
- 25:51Speaker 1: touching his moustache when he got awkward? Like, I feel
- 25:53Speaker 1: like it was this defence mechanism to put a barrier
- 25:57Speaker 1: between him and the journalist. I actually only listened to this,
- 26:00Speaker 1: so I didn't see the full breakdown. But yeah, it
- 26:03Speaker 1: would be interesting to pick up on his body language
- 26:05Speaker 1: like that. I wonder how they thought that that was
- 26:07Speaker 1: going to be perceived that interview. You know what I mean?
- 26:09Speaker 1: That was, as you touched on Kate, that was matt
- 26:12Speaker 1: and anna's interview so did they end up listening back
- 26:15Speaker 1: and thinking oh yeah that was fine well it's hard
- 26:17Speaker 1: when you've got banter between siblings like you know sometimes
- 26:20Speaker 1: if we record something and we've been a bit snappy
- 26:23Speaker 1: you think oh people will see a bit of fun
- 26:24Speaker 1: the fact that they said look we wanted it to
- 26:26Speaker 1: be controversial i found interesting so it's like well you
- 26:29Speaker 1: obviously knew putting this out there was going to create
- 26:32Speaker 1: conversations well that's tammy's playbook she loves controversy It gets
- 26:36Speaker 1: her more engagement, more followers. She never shies away from it.
- 26:39Speaker 1: But why would you want it out there that your
- 26:41Speaker 1: sisters didn't like your new husband, that everyone was already questioning? Well,
- 26:45Speaker 1: it's kind of like the Kardashians. I feel like they've
- 26:47Speaker 1: been Australia's version of the Kardashians for years now. And
- 26:50Speaker 1: they would always play off on how everyone hated Kourtney's boyfriend, Scott,
- 26:54Speaker 1: and how there was always a bit of banter about that.
- 26:56Speaker 1: The awkward thing is Matt clearly took the moral high
- 26:59Speaker 1: ground when talking about Tammy's sisters. But Emily did not.
- 27:03Speaker 1: So when the Daily Mail dropped their teaser, she commented
- 27:06Speaker 1: under the video and wrote, Hope he talks about how
- 27:08Speaker 1: he cheated messaging girls on Insta. Now she ended up
- 27:12Speaker 1: deleting the comment. Well, it's funny because the Daily Mail
- 27:15Speaker 1: picked up on it and they ran with this headline,
- 27:17Speaker 1: Tammy Hembrough's sister Emily shamefully deletes comments slamming Matt Zukowski. So,
- 27:22Speaker 1: I mean, it's quite clear that they're taking Matt's side
- 27:23Speaker 1: in all of this since having him on the show.
- 27:26Speaker 1: And Emily actually commented under that post saying, Matt asked
- 27:30Speaker 1: me to and we are friends. So I respect that
- 27:32Speaker 1: with a love heart and a smile. I love that
- 27:34Speaker 1: we are friends. You literally just wrote on the teaser
- 27:36Speaker 1: saying he's a cheater. Also, they slammed him on Emily's
- 27:40Speaker 1: podcast recently saying what a dirtbag he was and, you know,
- 27:43Speaker 1: referring that he cheated at that Grand Prix incident. Well,
- 27:47Speaker 1: talking about Matt Sikowsky's interesting friends, he was asked about
- 27:50Speaker 1: his friendship with Tammy's former fiance, Matt Paul. And he
- 27:54Speaker 1: said that Matt Paul is a great bloke and they
- 27:56Speaker 1: still keep in touch and He also confirmed he went
- 27:59Speaker 1: to Matt Paul for advice after his breakup. Let's take
- 28:02Speaker 1: a listen.
- 28:04Speaker 2: I owe him a lot.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Let's put it that way.
- 28:06Speaker 2: And I've said that to him. He was very, cause
- 28:09Speaker 2: I just, I couldn't like the whole, like everything, it
- 28:11Speaker 2: was a whirlwind and he just, yeah, he spoke to
- 28:14Speaker 2: me and he gave me a lot of advice and
- 28:17Speaker 2: I was very grateful for him and he didn't need to,
- 28:19Speaker 2: there was no need for him to do that for me.
- 28:21Speaker 2: And he took a lot of time and yeah, he
- 28:24Speaker 2: was very helpful.
- 28:26Speaker 1: I wonder if he got permission from Matt Poole to
- 28:30Speaker 1: open up about their unusual relationship. Their bromance. I doubt
- 28:35Speaker 1: Matt Poole would have an issue with it. He's quite
- 28:37Speaker 1: an open book on social media. Yeah, but the awkward
- 28:39Speaker 1: thing is that Matt has a daughter with Tammy, so
- 28:42Speaker 1: it makes it very different. Like he might not want
- 28:45Speaker 1: her knowing the ins and outs of his relationship with
- 28:47Speaker 1: her ex-husband, who she clearly has a huge issue with. Well,
- 28:50Speaker 1: he's obviously got to tread carefully because he's got to
- 28:52Speaker 1: continue having a relationship with Tammy whilst they're co-parenting. Well,
- 28:56Speaker 1: Matt Zukowski actually mentioned in this interview that when he
- 29:00Speaker 1: speaks to Matt Paul, he asks him, oh, how's Posey going?
- 29:03Speaker 1: Because he, of course, was her stepfather and And that
- 29:06Speaker 1: led Savannah to say, well, do you miss Tammy's kids?
- 29:08Speaker 1: Let's take a listen to what he said.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I do. Of course I do. I, that was
- 29:13Speaker 2: one of the hardest things it was about leaving. I
- 29:15Speaker 2: would cry like once a day about that for like
- 29:17Speaker 2: three or four months afterwards.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Well, it must've been hard after, you know, being a
- 29:22Speaker 3: stepdad for this period of time to basically go from,
- 29:28Speaker 3: you know, seeing them and.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that was hard. I, um, I've written them or
- 29:33Speaker 2: I don't know what RIT wrote. I wrote them that
- 29:36Speaker 2: many letters just explaining stuff I never sent any of them.
- 29:40Speaker 2: That was part of like my healing. I did in
- 29:41Speaker 2: therapy and that. Yeah, a lot of letters that I
- 29:45Speaker 2: just never sent because I don't know what they're being told.
- 29:48Speaker 2: So I wouldn't be fair to them.
- 29:51Speaker 1: This was new information to me. I mean, when they
- 29:54Speaker 1: initially broke up, Matt did say that, you know, he
- 29:57Speaker 1: wanted to be respectful to Tammy because there are children
- 29:59Speaker 1: involved and he respected the kids. But this is the
- 30:01Speaker 1: first time I've really heard him open up about his
- 30:04Speaker 1: feelings towards Saskia and Wolf and Poe and how, you know,
- 30:08Speaker 1: being a stepfather was a big role to him. And
- 30:12Speaker 1: it was really interesting also to hear him say that
- 30:14Speaker 1: he doesn't know how he's being portrayed to them. Like
- 30:16Speaker 1: he feels like if he needs to be portrayed as
- 30:18Speaker 1: the bad guy for them to move on, he's okay
- 30:20Speaker 1: with it. Well, he was originally slammed around the wording
- 30:24Speaker 1: of his announcement when he referenced the children, but I mean,
- 30:26Speaker 1: it seems like he genuinely does care about them. One
- 30:29Speaker 1: thing that stood out to me is that Matt Sikowsky
- 30:32Speaker 1: must be quite sentimental because he has held onto the
- 30:35Speaker 1: corks that he collected over his and Tammy's relationship. So
- 30:39Speaker 1: When they had officially been together for a year, he
- 30:43Speaker 1: presented Tammy with all of the corks that they'd had
- 30:45Speaker 1: from different events that they had champagne at. And he
- 30:49Speaker 1: had dated every single one of them. I thought that
- 30:51Speaker 1: was actually pretty cute. It's very sweet. But I would
- 30:53Speaker 1: have thought that those corks would be long gone in
- 30:55Speaker 1: the bin. They'd be at the dump right now. Well,
- 30:58Speaker 1: so when he moved back to Melbourne to live with
- 31:00Speaker 1: his mum, basically he filled up her shed with all
- 31:03Speaker 1: of his corks. Sentimental stuff from the Gold Coast, including
- 31:07Speaker 1: the corks. And he actually... told Savannah that he went
- 31:10Speaker 1: through all of the old things and he was working
- 31:12Speaker 1: out what to put in the old salvos bin and
- 31:13Speaker 1: what to keep. And he ended up saying, I actually
- 31:15Speaker 1: can't throw this out. This is too sentimental. He could
- 31:18Speaker 1: sell them on eBay, the cook. Maybe he's planning to.
- 31:20Speaker 1: I mean, he also kept his wedding vows and a
- 31:22Speaker 1: couple of photos of the couple together. He also said
- 31:25Speaker 1: that he and Tammy bought these big key chains when
- 31:28Speaker 1: they were traveling and he actually put it in the
- 31:29Speaker 1: salvos bag, but took it back out. Can you imagine
- 31:32Speaker 1: going to your local Salvos and finding these things? I
- 31:35Speaker 1: remember when Neighbours wrapped up filming for the first time,
- 31:38Speaker 1: someone shared on social media that their local Vinnies had
- 31:42Speaker 1: all of the old props. So there were like wallets
- 31:44Speaker 1: that had different characters, ID cards in it. They had
- 31:48Speaker 1: report cards from Erinsborough High. It was crazy. I was like,
- 31:51Speaker 1: I so want to get down there and get that stuff.
- 31:53Speaker 1: As if it wasn't kept for some kind of like
- 31:54Speaker 1: museum or something. Especially because Neighbours ended up coming back
- 31:58Speaker 1: quite a few times. I was probably like, oh, fuck,
- 31:59Speaker 1: we need this stuff again. But this was like historical props.
- 32:01Speaker 1: They felt like Kylie Minogue's character's like wedding certificate down there. Now,
- 32:05Speaker 1: Savannah was really doing the Lord's work because she went
- 32:09Speaker 1: there in asking Matt what he thought about not only
- 32:12Speaker 1: Bailey Smith, but also Tammy's new boyfriend, Grace. And so
- 32:16Speaker 1: when it came to Bailey Smith, she asked him like,
- 32:18Speaker 1: how did it feel Tammy moving on so quickly after
- 32:20Speaker 1: their breakup? This is what he said.
- 32:23Speaker 2: At the time I was a bit like, whoa, because
- 32:25Speaker 2: I was doing my own sort of like healing path
- 32:28Speaker 2: and it did not, it did not, what's the word,
- 32:31Speaker 2: involve anyone else. Do you know what I mean? So
- 32:34Speaker 2: I was a bit taken back and especially from like
- 32:38Speaker 2: one of a couple of our last messages to each
- 32:39Speaker 2: other and I was just a bit taken back. But
- 32:41Speaker 2: like now she can do whatever she wants. Like I really,
- 32:43Speaker 2: I'm so fucked.
- 32:46Speaker 1: I feel like that comment's a bit loaded. Is Matt
- 32:48Speaker 1: referring that Tammy was trying to beg him back in
- 32:51Speaker 1: their last text message exchange? Because during the interview, Savannah
- 32:54Speaker 1: kept asking like, oh, so what was your last message
- 32:57Speaker 1: to Tammy? And he said, oh, I can't remember. There
- 32:59Speaker 1: was a lot of I can't remembers going on, but
- 33:01Speaker 1: he clearly could. But how disrespectful for you were like,
- 33:03Speaker 1: I know he's already doing a bit of a tell-all,
- 33:05Speaker 1: but how disrespectful to bring out your phone and start
- 33:07Speaker 1: reading messages? Oh yeah. I mean, I definitely wouldn't recommend
- 33:10Speaker 1: him doing that, but I wonder, that's what makes me
- 33:13Speaker 1: think that he clearly was paid for this. I mean,
- 33:14Speaker 1: you think about how much the Daily Mail pay for
- 33:17Speaker 1: the staged pap walks. Well, if I was him, I'd
- 33:21Speaker 1: want to be paid for that. And clearly that's why
- 33:23Speaker 1: she thinks, oh, it's acceptable to ask him, well, what
- 33:25Speaker 1: was your last text message? Because they're probably paying him
- 33:27Speaker 1: a considerable amount of money. I wonder if he got
- 33:29Speaker 1: more money if he agreed to answer certain questions, because
- 33:33Speaker 1: it was really awkward when she asked him what his
- 33:35Speaker 1: advice would be to Tammy's new boyfriend, Grayson. And he said, oh,
- 33:39Speaker 1: block out the noise and just focus on each other
- 33:40Speaker 1: and love each other. It's like, It's so weird for
- 33:43Speaker 1: your ex-husband to be giving your new boyfriend relationship advice.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Clearly that's a PR response. Like if he was really
- 33:49Speaker 1: saying what he thought, he'd probably say run. Well, that's
- 33:51Speaker 1: the thing. Savannah was obviously hoping for him to say
- 33:53Speaker 1: something controversial, like, you know, look after yourself, mate, or
- 33:57Speaker 1: gear up for this. But he was like, no, I'm
- 34:00Speaker 1: going to school her. This is PR 101. I'm going
- 34:02Speaker 1: to give a politician's response and say, love each other
- 34:05Speaker 1: and be there for each other. He doesn't mean that.
- 34:07Speaker 1: It was the same when he was asked if he
- 34:09Speaker 1: wanted to clear up any of the like cheating rumours
- 34:12Speaker 1: and if he had been dating other people. And he said, basically,
- 34:15Speaker 1: there's nothing I need to clear up. I know what's true.
- 34:17Speaker 1: My friends and family do. I think if you're at
- 34:19Speaker 1: home and hearing stuff, you know what's true. So I
- 34:23Speaker 1: actually think that was the best response because if he
- 34:25Speaker 1: had gone into baton and brought up all of that
- 34:27Speaker 1: Grand Prix cheating rumours, it would have just muddied the
- 34:31Speaker 1: water a bit. Like I think that was a really
- 34:33Speaker 1: good response. And given the Daily Mail more fodder to
- 34:35Speaker 1: write about because clearly what they're doing is if they've
- 34:37Speaker 1: paid for this interview, they're then turning lots of different
- 34:41Speaker 1: parts of this interview, this 52-minute sit-down, they're turning that
- 34:44Speaker 1: into more articles. So they would have created a whole
- 34:47Speaker 1: article about the Grand Prix interview scandal again off the
- 34:50Speaker 1: back of anything that he said. I do wonder how
- 34:52Speaker 1: this episode actually performed for the Daily Mail because they
- 34:56Speaker 1: had a video component on YouTube, which has hit 16,000 downloads,
- 35:00Speaker 1: which is actually very strong for a first episode of
- 35:02Speaker 1: a podcast on YouTube. We don't know what the numbers
- 35:06Speaker 1: were on Spotify and Apple. I mean, I think it
- 35:09Speaker 1: was a pretty successful podcast launch for them. Look, this
- 35:11Speaker 1: isn't sour grapes because obviously we would have loved to
- 35:14Speaker 1: have Matt on the podcast first giving us these tidbits.
- 35:17Speaker 1: But I actually think he made the wrong decision going
- 35:19Speaker 1: with the Daily Mail. Like if I was his publicist,
- 35:22Speaker 1: I would have advised him to open up. To go
- 35:25Speaker 1: on Outspoken. Well, obviously, number one, to go on Outspoken. Well,
- 35:28Speaker 1: in reality, I would have said that. But number two,
- 35:30Speaker 1: you know, some other good options would have been No Filter.
- 35:33Speaker 1: where he could have opened up more about his mental
- 35:35Speaker 1: health and the difficulties that he faced in a sort
- 35:37Speaker 1: of a serious tone. Like why would you open up
- 35:40Speaker 1: to the Daily Mail who have scrounged around in your relationship?
- 35:43Speaker 1: They probably caused, I mean, a lot of trouble. But
- 35:46Speaker 1: maybe no filter didn't want him on because there was
- 35:49Speaker 1: a lot of backlash when Inherited had him on. Well,
- 35:51Speaker 1: the reality is that the Daily Mail's audience are also
- 35:56Speaker 1: the people who are most invested in his story. I mean,
- 35:59Speaker 1: the majority of feedback I saw about the interview was
- 36:01Speaker 1: actually very positive towards Matt. On the promotional reel, someone wrote,
- 36:05Speaker 1: he's so respectful and she always does little digs at him.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Someone else said, he deserves so much love from a
- 36:10Speaker 1: soulful woman. He is on the right path. Goodness comes
- 36:13Speaker 1: to those who wait. Another person said, he's such a
- 36:16Speaker 1: babe and this podcast brought that out. That's a good human.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Someone else said, total respect for Matt. This shows maturity.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Do we reckon that we're going to see Tammy doing
- 36:24Speaker 1: a tell-all on another podcast that's not her sister's soon
- 36:28Speaker 1: because of this? No. I would love to see her face.
- 36:31Speaker 1: When that reel popped up, I wonder if that sort
- 36:34Speaker 1: of threw her into a bit of a panic. She's like, oh,
- 36:35Speaker 1: my God, what's he going to say about me? The
- 36:37Speaker 1: thing is, at the end of the day, he really
- 36:38Speaker 1: didn't say any new information. I was a bit disappointed.
- 36:41Speaker 1: What everyone wants to know is what were the issues
- 36:44Speaker 1: that led to you mentally struggling and why did you
- 36:47Speaker 1: break up? And he didn't answer either of those. Well,
- 36:49Speaker 1: she did ask about the tennis, actually, I have to say.
- 36:51Speaker 1: She asked about the infamous Aussie Open incident. He didn't
- 36:54Speaker 1: really say much.
- 36:55Speaker 4: No.
- 36:55Speaker 1: No. It was funny because he was like, oh, yeah,
- 36:57Speaker 1: that sounds familiar. Like it's clear that he's tried really
- 36:59Speaker 1: hard to actually block these things out. Well, on that note,
- 37:03Speaker 1: I think that is all we have time for today.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Thank you so much for joining us for this episode.
- 37:07Speaker 1: If you have enjoyed it, could you please make sure
- 37:09Speaker 1: you are subscribed on Apple Podcast and also Spotify and
