- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Ladies and gentlemen, happy October 21st, 2026, and welcome to the Who Day All Day Podcast.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: I'm your host, Michael Bergs in Stormy, carefree Arizona.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: I was just telling the boys, baseball size hail.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Where are we?
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Scary stuff.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: Take cover, you Arizonans.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: Be safe out there.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: But we got our boys with us tonight.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: Brian Kyle, welcome back.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: How are you?
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Good to be back.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Good to be back.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Excited to talk, talk with you.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, stay safe in there there in Arizona.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Stay away from that hail.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: So let's talk some bangles.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: Let's go.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Brant Mert, Northern Kentucky.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: How are you?
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: Fantastic, guys.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: So yeah, sounds like uh you're living in Tornado Alley over there in Arizona.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: So watch yourself, man.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: But yeah, uh, excited to talk Bengals with you guys.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: Happy to have Brian back.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: And appropriate because it's a massive week.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: We know how we feel about division games, about the Baltimore Ravens.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: You know it's a big game when the vice president shows up for practice and wants to rub shoulders.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: So let's get this going.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: Four downs.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: You all know the drill.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: First down.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: The Trey Hendrickson revenge game is here for both sides.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: Uh, how do we beat them?
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: How do we beat the vaunted Baltimore Ravens?
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Second down.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: What are you concerned about with the Ravens?
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: Third down, trade deadline is still about what about two and a half, three weeks away, November 10th, but a lot of talking.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Birdies are definitely talking.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: Want to get a take from both of you on a specific trade, player, team you'd be going after right now.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: And then fourth down, love hearing this.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: Even though we're in the regular season, we talk about it in the offseason.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Kenny Anderson getting a lot of love for the Hall of Fame.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: Want to get your thoughts on that.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: But Brian, let's go.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Trey Hendrickson revenge game.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: How do we beat these suckers?
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I you know, we've got to play, uh, it comes down to playing discipline football, taking care of the football.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Um, and I'm gonna, you know, a lot of talk recently going into the Miami game and probably during the bye week is is is run the ball, run the ball.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: I I love power football and I love to run the ball.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: But uh Joe hit Joe and Jamar seem to just be able to carve up.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: They have a they have a history of carving up that secondary.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Um I have a feeling that that's gonna be the game plan.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Uh and I think it works.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Uh so it's gonna come down to taking care of the ball and then slowing, doing what we can to slow slow them down, uh slow their offensive down.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Predominantly uh Derrick Henry, who knows who we're gonna see at quarterback for the Ravens.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Uh, but at the same time, both of those quarterbacks, you want to keep them in the pocket and make and make them throw, especially Lamar.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: I'd rather him throw from the pocket.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: He's improved.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: He you know, he's shown he can do that, but he's much more scary to me when he's thrown on the run or taken off uh out of the pocket.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: So keep keep both of these quarterbacks in the cop the pocket, whoever we see, and get him on the ground.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Uh Hunley's a little bit easier to tackle than Lamar.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: I don't know if that guy like puts baby oil on or Vaseline or if he's just that slippery, but he's pretty he's pretty fun to watch when you're when he's not playing your Bengals.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: But get him on the ground and uh yeah, let I let let Joe rep this game.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: I think we can carve that secondary up.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: You know, it was interesting.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Uh, we were talking before Brent jumped on.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: Brian and I were talking about the Ohio State Indiana game a little bit.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: And one of the things, uh, what's his bucket?
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: What's the wide receiver's name?
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: That's amazing.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: Jeremiah Smith.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: Yes, yeah, for uh for Ohio State.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: They asked Signetti right before the game, Coach Indiana, how do you stop this guy?
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: And he said, very easy.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: You hit the quarterback and you hit him fast.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: Faster you get to the quarterback, less he can throw.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: And so you know they're gonna be coming after Joe Burrow, and I absolutely love that, which means offensive line got to have a big game, protect Joe, and then make these guys pay.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: Absolutely love that, Brant.
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'll just give you one thing uh in order to beat Baltimore, and that's exactly where we invested in the offseason, and that's the defensive line dominating their offensive line.
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: So their offensive line has gone through some ups and downs this year.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: Um, specifically, they've been really beat up at the center position.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: So I think it's gonna be really interesting this week if we actually uh get to see Cam Jergens, his first action with the Ravens since being traded over from Philly, who I personally do like Cam Jergens as a player.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: I know he's been up and down uh the past couple years, but he can be physical.
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: Uh Philly doesn't draft you know um you know soft guys or you know uh guys that just don't know how to play hard physical football.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: So uh I would I respect where he's coming from.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: And then they have a rookie uh at guard with Vega, who we kind of talked about during draft season.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: And you know Monster.
- 6:01SPEAKER_02: Everybody was kind of just basically using pen to put him into Baltimore's offensive line.
- 6:08SPEAKER_02: Um, so that was you know pretty obvious addition.
- 6:12SPEAKER_02: But again, he's a rookie.
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: Uh he's had some really good plays, I'll admit, but I think he's kind of going through some rookie uh growing pains as well.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: And then who is it on the other side?
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: Is it uh John is it John Simpson?
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: Yep, at left guard right.
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: Uh so specifically their interior line, right?
- 6:33SPEAKER_02: It comes down to Dexter Lawrence, and we traded a 10th uh the 10th overall pick for him to be the superstar monster that he can be.
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: And this is the game we need Dexter to show up like he did against Houston and just dominate the offensive line for them so that we can shut down the run game, put pressure on Lamar, and uh show him what AFC North football is about.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: Uh absolutely love that.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: This is where Dexter Lawrence has been licking his chops.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: I do think, like Brant saying, they've got some good pieces, but that entire defensive line, I think we get back to the full rotation and getting after it.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: Plus, that'll force them uh to be able to throw.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Very interesting.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Both Lamar Jackson and Huntley right now have a 70.8%, both of them completion percentage.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: So they're hitting their passes, but a big, big freaking difference.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: Lamar averages about 243 yards a game passing, and Huntley at that same percentage only averages 143 yards a game.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: Translation, you start bringing it to him, he's gonna dump it off quickly to those tight ends and running backs who got to be ready to tackle.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: So second down, Brant.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: What concerns you about the Ravens?
- 7:56SPEAKER_02: So I'll give you two things.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: So, what concerns me the most is uh stopping their run game.
- 8:03SPEAKER_02: So Derek Henry, you guys know he's a beast.
- 8:07SPEAKER_02: I mean, he's huge.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: He gets going downhill, uh, he's taking people with him, and we have really struggled with the off-tackle uh run game this year, which it's been a little feast or famine.
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: It seems like we either stuff it or it goes for 10 or 15 yards.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: That's a great point.
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: So we really just have to uh button that up.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: Specifically, the edges just can't let things just get you know so quick, they're just so quick right now to get outside, and then our linebackers are a little slow to respond.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: And my biggest pet peeve right now is the corners aren't getting off blocks to help in the run game on the outside.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: So stopping the run game, uh, specifically with Derrick Henry, I don't think if Lamar plays, they're actually gonna run him all that much with that bad angle.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: I just don't think that'd be a smart move.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: So stop Derrick Henry on the outside runs.
- 9:02SPEAKER_02: So that also includes tackling.
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: I'm wrapping up a lot of things in this, and then it would also uh be uh with the pass rush, uh specifically getting after if we stop that run, like we gotta get after them with the front four.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: They are a really good team against the blitz, and that includes Tyler Huntley.
- 9:28SPEAKER_02: I don't have the specific stat on me uh today, but I actually saw it earlier in the day, and uh both Lamar and Tyler are playing really well against the blitz, so the front four has to get home.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: Uh, and if we have to start bringing blitzes, they're a pretty good team.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: I don't want to have to do that.
- 9:45SPEAKER_02: So um it's gonna come down to the defensive line, fellas.
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: They gotta they gotta do their job.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Love that.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: Look, we brought in not only Dexter, we brought in Mafia, we brought in Jonathan Allen for this reason.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: BJ Hill's back healthy.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: Slayton's been playing very solid.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: Who knows if witness protection, uh Shamar Stewart will get some snaps, but would love to see his body get thrown around in there a couple plays.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: Murphy's gotta hold the edge like you're talking about against the run.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: Murphy's bigger than Henry.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: I know Henry's a tank, but I would love to see Murphy light up Henry one-on-one just once.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: Brian.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, as far as what makes them scary is that they are they're a physical football team.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: They want to establish and play physical football.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: Um, that I think at times is has been not the Bengals strong suit.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: Um, so that and it's still it still kind of lingers in the back.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: I think we've been better this year, but it still lingers in the back of your head.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: Um, especially a team like Baltimore that it uh and and Pittsburgh did it to us earlier this year.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: They came out and said we're gonna throw haymakers from the beginning.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: Uh so that that makes me nervous.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: We uh Brant said is right, we've typically in the Zach Taylor era done pretty well, or at least it feels like it against Derrick Henry.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: Um but you can't let you can't let him out the gate.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: Uh that's a lot of that's a lot of man to get on the ground once he gets moving.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: The guy that actually scares me worse, especially after you know some some series against Derrick Henry, who's gonna kind of soften you up a little bit, is is Justice Hill.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Uh he's got some juice to him.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: And if we don't tackle, then it's like you're throwing remotes at the TV because it's 20 down, 20 yards down the field before you tackle him.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: So just their physicality.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: They want to do it on defense too, with with their front four is pretty tough.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Um, and then with uh with ham, you know, they bring Hamilton in the box to do a lot of different things with Hamilton, and he's a physical player.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: So uh that's their physicality is what scares me.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: If they're gonna throw punches, we've got to throw them right back and throw them harder.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: Um, or or it could be a could be you know, we're in a dog dog fight on Sunday.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: Brant talk Brant and I talked about this offline uh the other week about that he wishes Zach Taylor would have given the pregame speech in Pittsburgh that he was going to give to remind a lot of these new guys that this is a different beast.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: Look, the NFL's tough.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: I don't care who you're playing, I don't care if you're playing the Dolphins, I don't care if you're playing any of these teams that haven't won yet.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: They're still gonna bring it, they're professionals, they're physical, they're tough.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: But the division is so different.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: It's crazy.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: There's gonna be cheap shots, they're gonna tell you about your mom, they're gonna tell you all these terrible things that you don't want to hear.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: I mean, it is gonna get as ugly as you can possibly imagine.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: And I think Zach needed to help remind them.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: I'm hoping that he learned that lesson because Brian hit the nail on the head.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: The AFC North is about physicality, even the Cleveland Browns.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Cleveland Browns are freaking physical.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: We've got to be the more physical team.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: I'm pointing, I uh Brant really uh I appreciate you bringing up the corners.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: All the corners have to tackle, they're gonna have opportunities against Derrick Henry.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: That's what scares me the most.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: There's two guys, Barrett Carter and uh and Jordan Battle.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: I know everyone has pointed you out and picked at you.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: If this is a game to show us you want to stick your nose in there and you don't want to be replaced at the trade deadline as we make a Super Bowl run, this has got to be the game where you step up and you get physical, wrap up, and get these guys on the ground.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: So third down trade deadline, like I said, about two and a half weeks away, but a lot of smoke out there.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: I love the fact.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: I think uh I heard Mo Eger talking the other day and was saying, Well, why are we even talking about this?
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: We we never do that.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: We don't do uh you gotta forget about the past.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: This is not the same old Bengals.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: We should prove that by bringing in or by trading the 10th overall pick and bringing in these free agents.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: So, Brian, trade deadline deal.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: You are on the phone making tonight.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: You know, there's I I there's actually a lot out there.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Uh you know, some of it feels like fantasy football, but I'm gonna so I'll I'm gonna give you I'm gonna give you two.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna give you one that would change the change the landscape of the NFL, in my opinion.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: And then I'll give you one that uh would be really cheap to do, probably, and may not make a difference, or you, or you may end up hitting a home run with it.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: So the first one is is Jonathan Taylor.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: Uh he's supposedly on the trade block, or or at least Indy's open to talking about him.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: Um it would make a splash, I think, and there's multiple ways to get it done.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: You know, one way is is including Chase Brown in that trade, um, and then some draft picks.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: The other is not including Chase Brown, which I think that would be kind of a nice duo to have in the backfield.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Uh and maybe involves a Shamar Stewart and some draft picks.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think the Bengals want to unload Shamar if they can, um, and still get something for him.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: He's still a first-round pick and extremely talented physically, but uh Jonathan Jonathan Taylor would change the dynamic of this team.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: He's he's a phenomenal running back.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, there's arguments to be made uh that he's been definitely one of the best, if not the best, running back in the league uh recently.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: But here's the thing in recent memory, uh San Francisco and the Philadelphia Eagles went to Super Bowls.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: The Eagles went to a two, one-one.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: The one they won, they had trade, they had obtained Saquon Barkley.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: San Francisco became Four Nators became a different team when they acquired Christian McCaffrey.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: They became a very different team.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: And so I think it adds life to Joe Burrow.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Um adds years to Joe Burrow's career.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: We probably have to go more under center more because that's when Jonathan Taylor's dynamic.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: Um, so I love that one.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: And then, real quick, the one that could add something to our room is Cedric Gray from Tennessee.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: He had a phenomenal rookie year, set a franchise record for tackles.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: He's been a little banged up this year, and then Anthony Hill, their their uh their draft pick this year, has been playing really well.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: So Cedric Gray Gray has seen his snaps drop.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: Some of that is a scheme fit.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: He doesn't necessarily fit Salah's scheme.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think he could could help the Cincinnati Bengals at worst, upgrade our upgrades our special teams while he gets acclimated to Cincinnati and may be able to push for starting role here.
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: So John, I love the Jonathan Taylor comment and couldn't using the example with the Niners and with the Eagles, but I love the Cedric Gray uh player because that a lot of people that's not gonna get a lot of headlines, it's not as sexy, but like you said, could be just as crucial to the interior of what this team's trying to accomplish.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: Love that and love where your head's at picking on the Colts and the Titans now.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: Brandt.
- 17:14SPEAKER_02: I think you guys know which way I'm gonna go here, but uh I'm gonna shore up the the secondary, and uh so funny enough, it was what was it?
- 17:24SPEAKER_02: Uh Cincinnati Jungle had the same pick.
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: Uh I think it was actually today.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: So I was reading our article real quick.
- 17:31SPEAKER_02: But because of his familiarity with Al Golden and uh coaching him at Notre Dame, and I really actually liked him coming out of Notre Dame.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: Uh, I'd go with Cam Hart.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: I'd try to pick up Cam Hart.
- 17:45SPEAKER_02: You know, maybe you can offer a fourth.
- 17:47SPEAKER_02: I'd love to get him for a fifth.
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: I mean, I think that's a no-brainer, but I think they're gonna ask somewhere between a third and a fourth.
- 17:55SPEAKER_02: He's he's kind of a tweener right now, and like and he's a starting caliber guy, but is he a superstar?
- 18:00SPEAKER_02: No.
- 18:01SPEAKER_02: Uh, but he's trending up and why I specifically love him, right?
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: He's 6'2, he's 207 pounds, 33-inch arms.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: You can play him on the outside, and more specifically, what I saw when I was watching us against Miami, and I know it was only one game, but DJ Ivy, uh, there was a couple plays out there that against a better quarterback, I think we get hit for big chumps because Ivy's either slipping or just seems like he doesn't know the coverage, or it's just a step slow, and you know, the wide receivers creating separation.
- 18:41SPEAKER_02: Uh, so one, I would love it for more depth.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: Two, I think Ivy still needs some more development.
- 18:48SPEAKER_02: I don't think he's a starter.
- 18:51SPEAKER_02: The bad thing about this would be it would keep uh Dax in the slot.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: So I'd love to get Dax back outside if you can, but I just don't know that there's any uh nickel or slot corners that I really love.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: So Cam Hart, you can bring him back to his defensive coordinator.
- 19:09SPEAKER_02: I would love the move, uh, but we'll see.
- 19:13SPEAKER_02: It's gonna take a lot probably to get him away.
- 19:15SPEAKER_02: But I think you might be able to do it with the Chargers sitting 0-6.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: Great one.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: Another great team to pick on right now.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: They're definitely going to be looking to make some moves on that team.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: And I think we've already seen a theme bringing in Jack Kaiser, the linebacker from Notre Dame.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: They said they already had a pre-draft grade on him before.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: They liked him in the mid-rounds, got taken up by Jacksonville, and when he became free, it was a no-brainer for them.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: Follow the theme.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: Like that a lot with Cam Hart.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: The look, there are seven teams I would be calling obnoxiously with such commission breath.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: It's the Colts, the Dolphins, the Reds, or excuse me, the Commanders, the Buccaneers, the Jets, the Titans, the Chargers.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: I'm calling all of them nonstop until they finally cave and give something up because I love all those players that you mentioned as well.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: Uh, the two for me, the home run for me is Derwin James from the Chargers.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: He comp him with Brian Cook completely changes the back end of our defense.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: I still think, like Brant says, we need to bring in another corner, but bring going after Derwin would be a complete home run, especially on the run game.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: Another one to me, similar to what kind of what Brian was leaning on behind Cedric Gray, uh, Jamie Sherwood, linebacker from the Jets, played at Auburn.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: This guy's a tackling machine.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: So help me if Barrett Carter gets smoked, run over, misses, whiffs.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: I would be calling the Jets and getting Jamie Sherwood away for whatever it takes, including maybe sending Barrett Carter away.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: We've got to make some of these moves.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: There are these seven teams are already done, buried, planning for 2027.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: We should be absolutely taking advantage of those rosters.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: Love where your head's at.
- 21:21SPEAKER_01: Go ahead, Brent.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna add one thing.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: So I think if I'm the Bengals, I'm willing to pay this year, and I say that because I don't know, I might have fallen off some people's radar, but I think they're projected to receive a third round compensation pick in this upcoming draft for losing Trey.
- 21:37SPEAKER_02: So that's a big one.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: So you got it, and I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, but we can trade compensation picks now, too.
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: So you'd have two thirds to work with.
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: I'd be willing to part with one if it's the right guy.
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: For the right guy.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: I absolutely love that.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: And I think it's exactly what all three of us are discussing.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: Brian talking about extending the life of Joe Burrow.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Bringing in that run game, that weapon on that side, shuring up the defense with guys that they may not be the sexiest names that are out there, but good heck, you'll be able to count on them game in and game out.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: Fourth down, real quick, let's get out of here.
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: Talk about Kenny Anderson.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: I know we're focused on the Ravens.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: I know we're focused on the trade deadline and making this team even better, but a lot of talk going around lately.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: We already feel Ken Anderson should be in the Hall of Fame, but loved seeing some of the current Hall of Famers and ex-players coming out saying, Yeah, this is a no-brainer.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: Why is this not done?
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: Brandt, we know I'm hoping you assume Kenny Anderson's a Hall of Famer.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: Tell us why.
- 22:43SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 22:44SPEAKER_02: No, we've talked about this in the past, so I got I got some more stats for you guys.
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: We'll just kind of reiterate what we've done.
- 22:49SPEAKER_02: It might have been a couple years ago where we were really talking about the Hall of Fame and just some people that should be in for the Bengals.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: So, okay, my biggest reason, it just seems like the NFL, not my biggest reason, but personal reason, the NFL seems to disrespect the Bengals and getting these guys in the Hall of Fame.
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: I mean, how long does Ken Anderson really have to wait?
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: But uh great quarterback from the 70s and 80s for those that don't have a lot of familiarity with him.
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: Uh, he played 16 seasons, grew for 32,838 yards, 197 touchdowns, was a four-time Pro Bowler, first team, he had one first team all-pro, which sometimes works against him, but I don't know if that that would work against me if I was uh you know selecting these guys.
- 23:33SPEAKER_02: Uh 1981, he led us to the Super Bowl, so our first Super Bowl.
- 23:38SPEAKER_02: Uh and I think people need to realize like those those passing numbers, when they're comparing those to other eras, like that was just such a different era.
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: And he was, you know, one of the first guys to really play in a West Coast style offense, throwing the ball more, and uh just kind of introducing that to NFL football.
- 24:02SPEAKER_02: And so it was really in its infancy at that point, and he was one of the best quarterbacks at doing that during his era.
- 24:09SPEAKER_02: I think the biggest thing also, he he did it in two separate like time periods while he was playing.
- 24:15SPEAKER_02: So 74, 75, and 81, 82, he had really, really good years.
- 24:19SPEAKER_02: He led the league in passer rating in both or all four of those years, and then in 81, he was the MVP, grew for 29 uh passing TDs and had a passer rating of 98.4.
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: So uh my last reason, he is a stellar human being.
- 24:36SPEAKER_02: If you guys look up how he helps out with uh specifically um some special needs kids, families, just the work he does in the community, still does, is you know phenomenal.
- 24:50SPEAKER_02: Uh so you wouldn't be just drafting a gr uh putting a great football player in the hall of fame, you'd be putting a great human in person in the in the hall of fame.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: Love that, love the full circle conversation, Brian.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm gonna give you I'm gonna first give you four names, three of which are Hall of Famers.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: One is still an active player, but I mean I think they're printing his gold jacket as we speak.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: Those four players are Bart Starr, Roger Starbucks, Steve Young, and Aaron Rodgers.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: All four of those gentlemen are the only quarterbacks in NFL history to lead the league and pass a rating four different seasons.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: Now, there's one other guy that has done it in four different seasons, and he's not in the hall of fame, and his name is Kenny Anderson.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: I rest my case, Your Honor.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: Number 14 of the Cincinnati Bengals should be in the Hall of Fame.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: No further questions.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: I I one love that.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: Thank you, and thank you for putting it in perspective with both past and current uh quarterbacks.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: Brandt hit the nail on the head.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: Look, the NFL was not going to go out of their way for us years ago.
- 26:06SPEAKER_01: We are now going out of their way to make the NFL better.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: And so, in return, feel very strong by us doing the Ring of Honor, the improvements and the upgrades that we're making as a franchise.
- 26:19SPEAKER_01: The NFL, this is the way the NFL says thank you.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: Not only does he have the appropriate stats.
- 26:25SPEAKER_01: Deion Sanders used to always say there's different classes within the Hall of Fame.
- 26:29SPEAKER_01: You're either a Hall of Fame or you're not.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: You can tell the story of the NFL.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: You need Kenny Anderson in there.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: Let's get him in.
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: More importantly, let's get W on Sunday.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: We win this one on Sunday, and this sets us up awfully well for the rest of the season.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: Look, these guys, and when I say these guys, Zach, Joe have been very outspoken.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: How many times we had to go on the road?
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: Short week, national television, night game, always in Baltimore.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: Well, what do you know?
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Baltimore's hurt.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: Baltimore came off a division road loss.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: Yes, they're hosting, but it's a day game.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: We're healthy.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: If not now, when?
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: It's our turn.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: We need to be more physical, like both of you were talking about.
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: It's time to get this W and spin the season into the special one that we know it can be.
- 27:24SPEAKER_01: Great to be with you both.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: Be safe.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: Have a great week.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: And who day all day.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: Hooday all day.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: Hooday all day.
