- 2:33Speaker 5: be on the show last week, but some things came up.
- 2:36Speaker 5: But the reschedule, man, I tell you, timing could not
- 2:39Speaker 5: be better because the weather, particularly as we head from
- 2:42Speaker 5: Sunday into Monday and into all of next week, seems
- 2:45Speaker 5: like it's on everybody's mind. We'll get to that a
- 2:47Speaker 5: little bit later on. I do want to bring in
- 2:49Speaker 5: now Brian Hughes from Storm Tracker thirteen. Mister Hughes, good morning.
- 2:53Speaker 6: Well, good morning, Dave. How's your New Years starting off?
- 2:56Speaker 5: Everything's good so far, no complaints when I had you
- 3:00Speaker 5: scheduled Brian last week. Originally I thought we just talked
- 3:04Speaker 5: a little bit about the year that was twenty twenty
- 3:06Speaker 5: four as far as the weather goes, maybe a brief
- 3:08Speaker 5: preview of the winter of twenty twenty five. However, since
- 3:11Speaker 5: that time, we got some major weather news, particularly Sunday
- 3:15Speaker 5: and THENTO Monday, really all through all next week.
- 3:17Speaker 3: I will get to that a little bit.
- 3:18Speaker 5: Later on, I promise, but I do want to do
- 3:19Speaker 5: what I originally set out to do, and that was
- 3:22Speaker 5: to talk to you about the weather. Let's go back
- 3:24Speaker 5: to twenty twenty four. It seems like it was so
- 3:27Speaker 5: long ago, Brian, the year that was twenty twenty four.
- 3:30Speaker 5: But the big weather stories of twenty twenty four in
- 3:33Speaker 5: West Virginia and our part of the world, with the drought,
- 3:35Speaker 5: the tornado outbreak in April.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Comment on that, you.
- 3:39Speaker 7: Know what, the drought was one of the worst ones
- 3:42Speaker 7: we've seen in thirty five years. And lo and behold,
- 3:46Speaker 7: the new update from the drought folks who do this
- 3:50Speaker 7: reporting and such is that we are now out of
- 3:52Speaker 7: the drought.
- 3:53Speaker 6: So that says this morning, that's brand new information. We
- 3:56Speaker 6: absolutely love that.
- 3:57Speaker 7: But the drought was you know significant, you would be
- 4:00Speaker 7: amazed at how political what yes' exactly how political those
- 4:05Speaker 7: drought boundaries are because it all determines how much money
- 4:09Speaker 7: gets from the USDA.
- 4:11Speaker 6: And payments and this and that, and it is people.
- 4:15Speaker 7: Call and yell at the National Weather Service if they
- 4:17Speaker 7: get marked out of the drought.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I think you and I talked about that.
- 4:20Speaker 5: I don't mean to laugh about that, but everything, everything
- 4:23Speaker 5: is political these days. Not only get to that with
- 4:26Speaker 5: you a little bit later on, but now I think
- 4:28Speaker 5: you and I talked about that once before.
- 4:30Speaker 3: You know that it is.
- 4:32Speaker 5: It is indeed very political. So let's talk about the
- 4:37Speaker 5: winter of twenty twenty five, not in the next couple
- 4:39Speaker 5: of days. I mean, just in in general, how are
- 4:43Speaker 5: you and Spencer and Chris and the fine folks at
- 4:45Speaker 5: storm Track at thirteen, how are you seeing the overall
- 4:48Speaker 5: winter season coming up?
- 4:50Speaker 7: We're looking at it as just at average or just
- 4:54Speaker 7: above average as far as precipitation is concerned. There's nothing
- 4:57Speaker 7: that screams that we're going to have just this insane winter.
- 5:01Speaker 7: But you know, when you combine that with the fact
- 5:03Speaker 7: that we are going to be a touch colder than normal,
- 5:06Speaker 7: you know that just automatically lends itself to being able
- 5:08Speaker 7: to produce touch more snow than normal. So we're looking
- 5:13Speaker 7: at that below normal on temperatures on average for the season,
- 5:18Speaker 7: and then touch above normal on a precipitation at or
- 5:22Speaker 7: just above normal precipitation. But you know, once we you know,
- 5:25Speaker 7: get into tomorrow with the snow showers, then eventually this
- 5:28Speaker 7: weekend and the next week storm system, everybody's going to think, wow,
- 5:32Speaker 7: this is a crazy winter already.
- 5:34Speaker 5: Yeah, but I mean overall you're saying it is going
- 5:37Speaker 5: to be colder with above average participant participation precipitation one
- 5:42Speaker 5: of those words, one of those words, it's good, good thing.
- 5:44Speaker 5: I'll talk for a living. So I understand that we
- 5:47Speaker 5: have a small clipper system that's going to move through
- 5:50Speaker 5: the area, not really a whole lot for our part
- 5:52Speaker 5: of the world, like late tonight and tomorrow morning. Is
- 5:54Speaker 5: that right, I mean, in this initial clipper.
- 5:56Speaker 7: System, Yeah, it's it's just a standard clip hpper that
- 6:00Speaker 7: can produce anywhere from a dust thing to an inch.
- 6:03Speaker 6: You get in eastern parts.
- 6:03Speaker 7: Of Kanawk County and you're looking at maybe you know,
- 6:06Speaker 7: one to two inches worth of the snow. So that's
- 6:09Speaker 7: something that we're looking at. But it's going to hit
- 6:12Speaker 7: you know, early in the morning, but also it's going
- 6:14Speaker 7: to move through as we get you know, about this time,
- 6:17Speaker 7: we'll have snow shares that will be coming down, some
- 6:18Speaker 7: sow squalls, and as we get into the afternoon, it
- 6:21Speaker 7: moves on off to the east and then it's confined
- 6:22Speaker 7: to the mountains. But that just lays the groundwork for
- 6:25Speaker 7: you know, freezing the ground back up and things getting
- 6:29Speaker 7: hardened up and ready for the next storm system over
- 6:31Speaker 7: the weekend.
- 6:31Speaker 5: And that's the one that everybody's talking about. So and
- 6:34Speaker 5: I know it's early because people want you know, I
- 6:37Speaker 5: love it on social media where people go after you
- 6:39Speaker 5: guys and all the other ones saying, well, exactly how
- 6:42Speaker 5: much snow is Ravens wouldn't gonna get how much am
- 6:44Speaker 5: I going to get in cabin creek or whatever? Well,
- 6:46Speaker 5: it's it's way too early for that. But the bottom
- 6:49Speaker 5: line is that no matter where you're listening to us today,
- 6:52Speaker 5: unless you're like one of our regular listeners who listens.
- 6:54Speaker 3: To Florida, that gal will probably be okay.
- 6:57Speaker 5: But here in the but here, in this area, Brian,
- 7:00Speaker 5: we are talking about a major, major weather event starting
- 7:04Speaker 5: what midday on Sunday.
- 7:06Speaker 7: Yeah, about midday on Sunday. And here's how this pans out.
- 7:10Speaker 7: You know, we are going to get snow. We are
- 7:11Speaker 7: going to see snow accumulate, but we're also going to
- 7:13Speaker 7: see it just ripped away from us as what we
- 7:16Speaker 7: call the warm wedge of air that rides up essentially
- 7:19Speaker 7: a quarter or G one nineteen and up by seventy nine.
- 7:22Speaker 7: If you literally just followed Pikefield to Williamson to La
- 7:28Speaker 7: the Logan area. Yeah, Madison, Charles sitting back up the
- 7:31Speaker 7: you know Sutton up to Clarksburg.
- 7:33Speaker 6: That is the warm wedge of air.
- 7:35Speaker 7: It rides on the northern side of the mountain chain
- 7:38Speaker 7: and it just gets drawn in by a southwest wind.
- 7:40Speaker 7: And so what's going to happen is that will win
- 7:42Speaker 7: the day, but it will start Sunday.
- 7:45Speaker 6: Afternoon and evening as snow. We could get three or four,
- 7:48Speaker 6: maybe even five inches worth.
- 7:49Speaker 7: Of snow maybe, you know, before it's all said and
- 7:53Speaker 7: done Sunday evening. And then Sunday night, you know, then
- 7:56Speaker 7: the warmer air moves in, takes over and just cuts it.
- 7:59Speaker 7: But what's going to hap happen is we'll get some
- 8:01Speaker 7: sleep we'll get freezing rain. And if we get freezing
- 8:03Speaker 7: rain for a couple of hours, that lends itself to
- 8:06Speaker 7: power lines, you know, being touched by trees that are sagging,
- 8:10Speaker 7: things that nature. So that's something we have to watch
- 8:12Speaker 7: for a Sunday evening and night, and then going into
- 8:14Speaker 7: Monday morning, we could well just have plane of wet streets,
- 8:18Speaker 7: cold wet streets on you know, Monday morning, but then
- 8:22Speaker 7: followed by Monday afternoon snow on the backside of the
- 8:25Speaker 7: system moving through and much colder air moving in. And
- 8:28Speaker 7: this is such a big storm system. It is going
- 8:30Speaker 7: to be drawing very cold air from the Great White
- 8:33Speaker 7: North into our region that will last into the rest
- 8:35Speaker 7: of the week, and the week in inauguration is going
- 8:37Speaker 7: to be a very very cold day.
- 8:39Speaker 5: And again I think that's whatever everybody always gets hung
- 8:41Speaker 5: up on, well how many inches of snow are we
- 8:43Speaker 5: going to get? How many inches? And sometimes it's not
- 8:46Speaker 5: about that. I mean, what you're telling me is is
- 8:48Speaker 5: that once we get when that wedge sets in and
- 8:52Speaker 5: we get the freezing rain and then we get snow
- 8:55Speaker 5: on top of that, it is bottom line, going to
- 8:57Speaker 5: be a mess driving Sunday into Monday.
- 9:00Speaker 7: Right, and that's that's what we're looking at more than anything,
- 9:03Speaker 7: is that you know there's going to be across the state,
- 9:05Speaker 7: across the region, the majority of our schools will be canceled,
- 9:07Speaker 7: probably going into Monday, because if they if it's not
- 9:11Speaker 7: a problem on Monday morning, you know, at six o'clock,
- 9:14Speaker 7: seven o'clock, as these buses are out and getting kids
- 9:16Speaker 7: to school, it'll we have a problem for the after
- 9:18Speaker 7: eatings getting the kids back home. So that Monday will
- 9:21Speaker 7: probably be a winter weather day. We can't call it
- 9:24Speaker 7: a snow dange entirely because of all the mix of it,
- 9:27Speaker 7: but it'll be a similar to you know probably.
- 9:30Speaker 6: You know learning at home, homebound learning or whatever they
- 9:32Speaker 6: call it these days.
- 9:34Speaker 7: Now, as we go into Tuesday, though, you know, we
- 9:36Speaker 7: see the temperature shopping, there'll be some lingering slick spots
- 9:39Speaker 7: that will probably delays on Tuesday morning. But then we
- 9:42Speaker 7: just get cold in the next week. But yeah, Sunday,
- 9:45Speaker 7: once you're hunkered down, you know about two three o'clock
- 9:48Speaker 7: in the afternoon, there's no need to come back out
- 9:50Speaker 7: for the rest of the night until maybe Monday.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Talking to Brian Hughes from storm Track at thirteen to

- 10:06Speaker 3: How to text here for you, Brian, And I know you're busy.
- 10:07Speaker 3: I'm gonna let you go.
- 10:08Speaker 5: But tech says ask Brian, if humans are contributing to
- 10:11Speaker 5: global climate change? You love to talk about this stuff,
- 10:15Speaker 5: mister Hughes, are humans Are we responsible?
- 10:18Speaker 4: Brian?
- 10:20Speaker 6: We're not responsible for it all. We are contributing to
- 10:24Speaker 6: the mess.
- 10:25Speaker 8: But if you if you go back and you look
- 10:28Speaker 8: at you could go back and look at Arctic.
- 10:30Speaker 7: Ice cores and you're gonna see periods of melting.
- 10:34Speaker 6: You're going to see periods of warming. And this can
- 10:37Speaker 6: be determined by literally.
- 10:38Speaker 7: Taking a core of ice that you know could go
- 10:41Speaker 7: one hundred feet deep and next thing you know, you
- 10:43Speaker 7: can see that.
- 10:44Speaker 6: So we do have cycles?
- 10:46Speaker 7: Do we have we contributed to that with a you know,
- 10:49Speaker 7: a you know, a burning of this and that.
- 10:51Speaker 8: And extra stuff fossil feel things like that, of.
- 10:54Speaker 6: Course, but not to the amount that is going to
- 10:58Speaker 6: cause complete alarm and we're all going to die. You know.
- 11:02Speaker 6: The the extreme.
- 11:03Speaker 7: Alarmist stuff is something I'm not I'm not a believer in, but.
- 11:06Speaker 6: I do know that things have changed. It's just it
- 11:09Speaker 6: is a part of life.
- 11:10Speaker 7: If you're going to burn a whole bunch of stuff,
- 11:12Speaker 7: whether it be the Amazon and take trees out like that,
- 11:16Speaker 7: you are going to have some things that are going
- 11:18Speaker 7: to suffer. But the one thing that the Earth is
- 11:20Speaker 7: very good about is replacing things constantly and cycling through things,
- 11:25Speaker 7: and where one thing goes bad, it fixes things on another.
- 11:28Speaker 7: That's also why we say when you have areas of
- 11:31Speaker 7: little pressure, there's big massive storm systems, there's big massive
- 11:34Speaker 7: areas high high pressure somewhere on the other side of
- 11:36Speaker 7: the globe that is equally equalizing things out.
- 11:40Speaker 6: The Earth does repair itself, you know, it's a global warming.
- 11:45Speaker 7: Climate change is controversial in regards to a political sense
- 11:48Speaker 7: and what you believe, but as far as we're concerned
- 11:51Speaker 7: as a scientific perspective, yes we've contributed, but it's also repairable.
- 11:56Speaker 5: And I will say, if you don't follow Brian Hughes
- 11:59Speaker 5: and all the people at storm Track or thirteen on
- 12:02Speaker 5: social media, you should because Brian from time to time
- 12:05Speaker 5: has been known to jostle a little bit back and
- 12:08Speaker 5: forth with people on social You got to stop doing that, Brian.
- 12:11Speaker 6: Well yeah, and this is what drives me crazy.
- 12:14Speaker 7: By the way, just so you know, our kids that
- 12:17Speaker 7: are anywhere from about the mid twenties on down sometimes
- 12:20Speaker 7: even in the low thirties, they don't have a clue
- 12:22Speaker 7: where they live on a map.
- 12:23Speaker 6: And he's fascinating to me.
- 12:25Speaker 7: And so when they go, well what about, like you
- 12:28Speaker 7: said earlier, you know what about at my house it's
- 12:31Speaker 7: Ravenswood or in you know you know who.
- 12:34Speaker 6: Knows Pike fol or Ironton.
- 12:36Speaker 7: Well guess what if you can't read the map, We've
- 12:38Speaker 7: got bigger issues and now you should not worry about
- 12:40Speaker 7: how much you're going to get.
- 12:41Speaker 5: It's not just the kids, Brian. I saw a comment
- 12:44Speaker 5: on your social media about an hour ago when somebody
- 12:46Speaker 5: and this was this lady looking at her picture. She
- 12:50Speaker 5: was not a kid, Brian. She was an older lady
- 12:52Speaker 5: who wanted to know specifically about a particular town and
- 12:56Speaker 5: is like, you can't look at the map and you
- 12:58Speaker 5: can't see it.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I don't. I don't.
- 12:59Speaker 5: I don't get that, and I don't understand why people
- 13:01Speaker 5: want to argue with scientists over science stuff.
- 13:05Speaker 8: You know, Oh, it fascinates me. And and by the way,
- 13:10Speaker 8: just see you. I said it on Facebook a couple
- 13:12Speaker 8: of times. Somebody is like, oh, this is wrong, It's
- 13:14Speaker 8: not gonna happen. I'm like, just you know, my batting
- 13:16Speaker 8: average is above nine hundred. So's let's move along here.
- 13:21Speaker 8: Your joke about being right fifty percent of the time
- 13:24Speaker 8: is funny because guess what I get paid tomorrow.
- 13:29Speaker 3: You go right.
- 13:30Speaker 5: We're lucky to have you here bad in the valley,
- 13:32Speaker 5: and not only for the weather stuff that you do,
- 13:34Speaker 5: but also everything you do in the community. I appreciate
- 13:36Speaker 5: you being here. Bottom line is we'll ending on this
- 13:39Speaker 5: is just keep eye on the weather because it is
- 13:41Speaker 5: gonna get really nasty one way or the other. We
- 13:44Speaker 5: we can't We're not saying at this point exactly how much.
- 13:46Speaker 5: But again, don't think just snow and inches. Let's think
- 13:49Speaker 5: about ice and things of that nature. So it is
- 13:51Speaker 5: going to be a rough as you said, about midday
- 13:53Speaker 5: Sunday through Monday at least, and then after that it's
- 13:56Speaker 5: just going to be cold as you know what, so
- 13:58Speaker 5: appreciate it.
- 13:58Speaker 7: And by the way, hey, just so you know, first
- 14:01Speaker 7: three weeks of January are gonna be really cold.
- 14:03Speaker 6: Then we're gonna have that January thaw that week four,
- 14:06Speaker 6: and then we'll go back to cold in February. But hey,
- 14:08Speaker 6: it is winter. It's supposed to do.
- 14:09Speaker 3: That's what it does, all right, Brian, I appreciate it. Man,
- 14:11Speaker 3: thanks a lot.
- 14:13Speaker 6: Sounds good.

- 18:24Speaker 5: in the fifties and January. Bottom line is they're nuts.
- 18:27Speaker 5: As the next well, extreme weather is a part of
- 18:30Speaker 5: the whole thing. So when you get seventy degree days

- 20:08Speaker 3: Thank you for having me. It's great to be here,
- 20:10Speaker 3: for being here. I don't think Hobby's going to hang
- 20:11Speaker 3: it up, by the way. I think he'll change his
- 20:13Speaker 3: mind and he'll probably say that on Friday. And look,
- 20:15Speaker 3: they've hired me, so they're stuck with me. Now. I'll
- 20:17Speaker 3: just come in here and ramp with you every day.
- 20:19Speaker 3: There you go, we'll call it to win. There you go,
- 20:20Speaker 3: There you go we can, you know, use somebody to
- 20:22Speaker 3: drive the vans around and put up the town. I
- 20:24Speaker 3: don't have too many points on my license. I think
- 20:26Speaker 3: I qualify.
- 20:27Speaker 5: So I'm n's talk about this call up that you,
- 20:30Speaker 5: you and Wilson got to take over talk Line from
- 20:33Speaker 5: the Goat starting on Monday.
- 20:36Speaker 3: You know, surreal because you talk about talk Line with
- 20:40Speaker 3: Hobby Kerchieval. It's kind of like Kleenex, right, everybody says
- 20:42Speaker 3: it's band Aid clean X happy, and you know, talk
- 20:47Speaker 3: Line is a creation of Hoppy Kerchieval. It is. It
- 20:52Speaker 3: is Hobby Kerchieval and what he does. I first started
- 20:55Speaker 3: working for this company. I think it was eighteen or
- 20:56Speaker 3: nineteen back in the day. I was an night time
- 21:00Speaker 3: DJ on one O two w V a Q of
- 21:03Speaker 3: Morgantown and had interned here in Charleston a little bit.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Uh.
- 21:08Speaker 3: But to get to work around a guy like that
- 21:11Speaker 3: and just shut up and learn and see what he
- 21:15Speaker 3: does and how he does it, and his pursuit of
- 21:18Speaker 3: excellence in what he does. You can't fake that. You
- 21:22Speaker 3: can't do that at the level he does it unless
- 21:24Speaker 3: you're extremely passionate about what you do. And he's been
- 21:28Speaker 3: a great teacher for I know everybody in this building
- 21:31Speaker 3: and countless, countless many more that have gone on to
- 21:33Speaker 3: other places and done other things. So it will always
- 21:37Speaker 3: be talk Line, and it will always be Hoppy. It's
- 21:39Speaker 3: kind of like one of those things in the back
- 21:41Speaker 3: of your mind when you hear talk line, you should
- 21:42Speaker 3: you should automatically put in created by Hoppy Kerchive. I
- 21:46Speaker 3: like that. I laugh at that, but I know it is.
- 21:48Speaker 3: It's it's it's a credit and it's it's deserved. And
- 21:52Speaker 3: so the challenge that Wilson and I are going to
- 21:55Speaker 3: face is keeping the Kerchival standard. But we're both, i
- 22:00Speaker 3: would say, students of Hobby Kerchival. We talked about Monday,
- 22:03Speaker 3: what are we going to do Monday, and both of
- 22:05Speaker 3: us instantly said, we're gonna come out and dow talk
- 22:07Speaker 3: Line the way Hobby's always done it, and focus on
- 22:09Speaker 3: the show and the issues and the listeners, and we'll
- 22:13Speaker 3: give it our darntess every day to do that.
- 22:15Speaker 5: And of course, so you guys got a little bit
- 22:17Speaker 5: of a trial run a couple of weeks ago when
- 22:19Speaker 5: Hockey was on vacation, but this Monday you'll go for real.
- 22:22Speaker 5: And what a time to be taking over. I mean,
- 22:25Speaker 5: so many changes going on. I mean it starts in
- 22:28Speaker 5: the White House. Everything that's old is new again. New
- 22:31Speaker 5: US Senator and Jim Justin, new governor and Patrick Morrison.
- 22:34Speaker 5: Now none of these names are new to West Virginia
- 22:37Speaker 5: as far as political the political arena, but you got
- 22:40Speaker 5: new leadership in the Senate, new Senate president, and the
- 22:42Speaker 5: legislature will be gabbling in only to gabble out and
- 22:45Speaker 5: then come back. You got it's a great time to
- 22:47Speaker 5: be coming in with everything new.
- 22:48Speaker 3: It is and it's exciting times. And that's what you
- 22:51Speaker 3: want if you do a show like talk line. You know,
- 22:53Speaker 3: talk line, let's talk about what talk line isn't. In
- 22:56Speaker 3: my mind, talk line is not what you hear from.
- 23:01Speaker 3: And I'm not knocking these folks, but it's not a
- 23:03Speaker 3: rush all the rushes is certainly has his place. It's
- 23:08Speaker 3: not a Hannity, It's not a Bongino in that the
- 23:12Speaker 3: opinion of the host and the host is pontificating for
- 23:15Speaker 3: two hours. It's about an ongoing debate pro con independent
- 23:23Speaker 3: both sides of the fence, what people think, and how
- 23:26Speaker 3: that narrative comes together and that debate comes together to
- 23:30Speaker 3: make West Virginia better. So when you do a show
- 23:33Speaker 3: like that, you want interesting things to talk about, You
- 23:36Speaker 3: want to explore things, and frankly, as a host, I
- 23:40Speaker 3: think you want to go into it with an open
- 23:42Speaker 3: mind and you don't necessarily want to always have an
- 23:47Speaker 3: opinion on things. You want to form that opinion over
- 23:48Speaker 3: time based on the debate that you have with your
- 23:50Speaker 3: guests and the debate that you have with your listeners.
- 23:53Speaker 3: And that's a good word. Debates a wonderful word, and you.
- 23:55Speaker 5: Can learn a lot from your listeners. I mean, I've
- 23:57Speaker 5: been doing this show for four years and there are
- 24:01Speaker 5: every day I get a call or a text or
- 24:03Speaker 5: something that's well, I really hadn't thought about it that way.
- 24:06Speaker 5: Maybe it doesn't always necessarily change your mind, but at
- 24:09Speaker 5: least it's a different way of looking at things. And
- 24:13Speaker 5: politics is now TJ, as you well know, has become
- 24:16Speaker 5: so national and the listeners have heard me use this
- 24:19Speaker 5: are probably tired of me using this expression. But you
- 24:21Speaker 5: can't run for assessor in Wetzel County without saying, well,
- 24:24Speaker 5: a vote for John Smith is a vote for Joe Biden,
- 24:27Speaker 5: or it's a vote for Donald Trump or whatever, you know,
- 24:29Speaker 5: because that's just where we are. Comparing contrast that to
- 24:34Speaker 5: how it was when Hoppy started doing talk line years ago.
- 24:37Speaker 5: I mean, there was some talk obviously, because there's some
- 24:39Speaker 5: big stories of that time, Bill Clinton and you know,
- 24:42Speaker 5: I'm just things come off the top of my head,
- 24:44Speaker 5: but primarily the focus was on West Virginia and it
- 24:47Speaker 5: still is the majority of the show.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Okay, but there's.
- 24:51Speaker 5: Still a lot of there's a lot more national stuff
- 24:54Speaker 5: than what there is now because again, more people because
- 24:56Speaker 5: of social media, because of Fox News, because of CNN. Uh,
- 25:01Speaker 5: these national entities that have pretty much served as a
- 25:05Speaker 5: mouthpiece for one side or the other. Now people are
- 25:10Speaker 5: more plugged in, which is good, but it's also bad
- 25:14Speaker 5: because there's a lot of misinformation being thrown out there
- 25:18Speaker 5: as well.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Your take, well, Dave Drama sells, I think, and I
- 25:22Speaker 3: would argue that a lot of the outlets you talked
- 25:24Speaker 3: about social media, especially you know that that's infotainment. Yeah,
- 25:29Speaker 3: and you know you have to sell that. Whereas I
- 25:31Speaker 3: think what what Metro News has done under people like
- 25:35Speaker 3: like Hoppy and Dale Miller. You know, you can't leave
- 25:39Speaker 3: Dale Miller out of the conversation when you talk about
- 25:41Speaker 3: Metro News and what it stands for. And what it's
- 25:43Speaker 3: programming has become. He was, you know, former president and
- 25:47Speaker 3: CEO of the company, basically grew the company from a
- 25:49Speaker 3: couple of radio stations up until what it is now,
- 25:51Speaker 3: and was a wonderful programmer, genius programmer. This company has
- 25:56Speaker 3: intentionally stayed away from that, and we still focus on
- 26:00Speaker 3: news at the heart of everything and educating a listener,
- 26:04Speaker 3: not just to entertain them. Yes we entertain, but we
- 26:07Speaker 3: do it in a way that doesn't you know, dismiss facts.
- 26:10Speaker 3: At the end of the day, my goal is to
- 26:12Speaker 3: frame a story correctly so that all sides of that
- 26:15Speaker 3: story are exposed and a listener, as an independent person,
- 26:19Speaker 3: can decide what he or she wants to think based
- 26:21Speaker 3: on the information that we give them. You know, Steyirwalt
- 26:24Speaker 3: said the other day on talk line. I thought it
- 26:26Speaker 3: was quite brilliant. He said, you know, I want to
- 26:28Speaker 3: be boring because if I'm being boring and I'm providing
- 26:31Speaker 3: news to people and I'm educating them and they have
- 26:34Speaker 3: the information they need to decide what they think, especially
- 26:38Speaker 3: when they show up at a voting booth, I'm doing
- 26:39Speaker 3: my job and there's something to be said for that.
- 26:41Speaker 3: And that's what I hope that we continue to do here.
- 26:43Speaker 3: We're not about clickbait, and I don't think we ever
- 26:45Speaker 3: will be talking to t J. Meadows.
- 26:47Speaker 5: And by the way, Dave Wilson will be the other
- 26:50Speaker 5: half of that do Dave does a show similar to
- 26:52Speaker 5: mine in Morgantown at nine o'clock. So that's why I
- 26:55Speaker 5: don't have mister Wilson on the show today because he's
- 26:58Speaker 5: kind of busy at this time. Dave and I actually
- 27:01Speaker 5: talked about one time about doing a show like a simulcast,
- 27:04Speaker 5: like you know, he and Morgantown and me here. That
- 27:07Speaker 5: would be really but I don't know. Maybe you know,
- 27:11Speaker 5: I'm not sure whether he's going to continue to do
- 27:13Speaker 5: the local show in Morgantown or not, because it would
- 27:15Speaker 5: be really difficult to do an hour long show from
- 27:17Speaker 5: nine to ten and then jump in and do a
- 27:19Speaker 5: network show from ten to new I don't know whether
- 27:21Speaker 5: he is.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Or not, so subject to check. I'll qualify with that.
- 27:25Speaker 3: I do not believe that mister Wilson will continue on
- 27:28Speaker 3: Talk of the Town in Morgan that's a local show there.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Somebody else will take that over. If you happen to
- 27:33Speaker 3: be a guy like me, spend a lot of time
- 27:35Speaker 3: in Morgantown, a lot of time in the southern part
- 27:36Speaker 3: of the state. And you've listened to w AJAR and
- 27:38Speaker 3: WHS and you know the local programming. You may remember
- 27:42Speaker 3: some of the folks from Morgantown AM. I'd be worth
- 27:44Speaker 3: checking out his podcast. He had a bunch of his
- 27:46Speaker 3: former co hosts on the show, people like Kay Murray
- 27:49Speaker 3: and Sir John Wiles and others. It was. It was
- 27:51Speaker 3: good radio. It'd be something to go back to the
- 27:52Speaker 3: podcast and listen to.

- 28:13Speaker 3: But you have a couple of texts here.
- 28:15Speaker 5: TJ text says, this debate forms my opinion, stuff is
- 28:18Speaker 5: a farce. Tell us when this has ever happened to
- 28:21Speaker 5: either Dave or TJ. Can't speak for Dave because he's
- 28:24Speaker 5: not here, I'm presuming they're talking about Wilson, But what
- 28:27Speaker 5: about you, mister meadows Well, debate is a farce? Why
- 28:32Speaker 5: is the debate of farce? This debate forms my opinion?
- 28:35Speaker 5: Stuff is farce? Says a texture. Tell us when this
- 28:38Speaker 5: has ever happened to either Dave or TJ.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Well. You know, Look, that's the path of least resistance,
- 28:49Speaker 3: isn't it is to just form a camp and not
- 28:52Speaker 3: make up your opinion based on fact and have those
- 28:56Speaker 3: opinions formed by debate. Isn't that the easy way to
- 28:58Speaker 3: do it? Just hop on the train and go. So
- 29:01Speaker 3: if the assertion is that we're challenging the status quo
- 29:04Speaker 3: and doing something different, thank you for the compliment.
- 29:06Speaker 5: We are text says, I agree that the clickbait style
- 29:10Speaker 5: broadcasting is not a good thing, but no talk show
- 29:13Speaker 5: host should ever strive to be boring. That's a recipe
- 29:15Speaker 5: for lowering listenership. I say that as a listener, I'm
- 29:18Speaker 5: not going to listen to a boring program. Facts aren't boring.
- 29:22Speaker 5: I think though, maybe the text are there and I'm
- 29:24Speaker 5: not trying to get into their head, but I think
- 29:25Speaker 5: maybe they're taking that maybe literally because Styrawald it's far
- 29:29Speaker 5: from from from boring.
- 29:30Speaker 3: No, No, it's it's not boring. I guess what I
- 29:32Speaker 3: mean by that. And it's good qualification is to say
- 29:37Speaker 3: that if something comes out of my mouth, I need
- 29:41Speaker 3: to be able to back it up with facts. One
- 29:43Speaker 3: of the things that bothers me about X and other
- 29:45Speaker 3: social media. You'll see folks say report and then let's
- 29:49Speaker 3: say this and this, right, they can't quote a source. Yep.
- 29:52Speaker 5: That We saw that all day yesterday. We saw that
- 29:55Speaker 5: all day with the New Orleans story, which I would
- 29:57Speaker 5: get to.
- 29:57Speaker 3: I mean all day it was. I mean, I think
- 29:59Speaker 3: X toxic. I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 30:01Speaker 5: I mean, you know, Facebook and can can we just
- 30:04Speaker 5: go back to putting pictures of your food and cats?
- 30:06Speaker 5: And like I do you know? In sports and whatever
- 30:09Speaker 5: X is, X is absolutely toxic. Now that having been said,
- 30:14Speaker 5: I use it, but I use it as a vehicle
- 30:16Speaker 5: for this show and for the other the the other
- 30:20Speaker 5: shows that are our network produces, and to push w
- 30:23Speaker 5: In Marshall Sports and that sort of thing. Very rarely
- 30:25Speaker 5: do I ever put an opinion on it because I
- 30:27Speaker 5: think it's complete garbage of it.
- 30:29Speaker 3: But that's just me. X is a tool. It's just
- 30:32Speaker 3: a tool, and that's one way to put it. It's
- 30:34Speaker 3: how you use that tool. I mean, look, I can
- 30:36Speaker 3: put a shovel in the front yard, but if no
- 30:38Speaker 3: one digs a hole, you get no result. Right, It's
- 30:40Speaker 3: it's all about the users. And make your wife get
- 30:42Speaker 3: out there and dig that hole. Obviously you don't know
- 30:46Speaker 3: my wife.
- 30:46Speaker 5: If your wife digs a hole, your chances are you're
- 30:48Speaker 5: going in it. If you're like like my house, Texas.
- 30:52Speaker 5: Hoppy is going to be sitting at home one day
- 30:54Speaker 5: then suddenly spew out jackpots in the millions.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Who doesn't want to be a millionaire? That's it.
- 30:58Speaker 5: And let me just say Hoppy is retired from Talk Line.
- 31:00Speaker 5: I had him on the show a couple of weeks ago.
- 31:02Speaker 5: Hobby's still going to be around here paying make an
- 31:04Speaker 5: appearance on talk Line from time to time. Oh absolutely,
- 31:06Speaker 5: uh And and he's going to be down here for
- 31:08Speaker 5: the state tournament. I understand Three Guys Before the Game
- 31:11Speaker 5: is a podcasts uh with with Brad Howell and CAREDI
- 31:15Speaker 5: is going to continue.
- 31:16Speaker 3: He's still going to be around.
- 31:17Speaker 5: He's just not going to do that. He said he
- 31:19Speaker 5: may do a commentary from time to time. He's just
- 31:21Speaker 5: not going to do the daily grind of doing a
- 31:24Speaker 5: talk show like that. And I can tell you, and
- 31:26Speaker 5: I'm not, by any stretch of the imagination, trying to
- 31:29Speaker 5: compare myself to Hoppy Courgeful. But I know what, believe
- 31:32Speaker 5: it or not, I actually do preparation for this show.
- 31:34Speaker 5: I know what one hour of show is. So when
- 31:38Speaker 5: you're at that level, and I get the at least
- 31:41Speaker 5: for now, I get the advantage of not being on camera.
- 31:46Speaker 5: That's going to change here in a couple of weeks
- 31:48Speaker 5: because the show and everything else we do is going
- 31:50Speaker 5: to be on camera. But I don't necessarily have to,
- 31:53Speaker 5: you know, be mindful of a camera looking at me.
- 31:56Speaker 5: That's different when you're doing sports line. We're doing talk line,
- 31:58Speaker 5: and eventually all of our shows hot Line is going
- 32:00Speaker 5: to be on camera as well.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Let me see here, Well, I was just going to
- 32:04Speaker 3: say the amount of preparation, I mean, it's it's staggering.
- 32:07Speaker 3: And I would never compare myself to Hopy either. But
- 32:10Speaker 3: typically on a daily basis, you know, I read the
- 32:12Speaker 3: Wall Street Journal, in New York Times, AP, Bloomberg, Politico.
- 32:17Speaker 3: There are some industry rags that I read quite a
- 32:20Speaker 3: bit and that was all for the job that I
- 32:22Speaker 3: did and being prepared in the energy sector. That is
- 32:27Speaker 3: a slither of what Kerchief will read. So yeah, I mean,
- 32:31Speaker 3: and so no one can out goat the.
- 32:33Speaker 5: Goat Texas First, Hopy is retiring. Then before you know it,
- 32:37Speaker 5: it'll be Fred Persinger, Chris Lawrence, Tony Kredi, and Stephen
- 32:40Speaker 5: Jenny West. Virginia Radio is going to look and sound
- 32:42Speaker 5: completely different in the next five to ten years.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Sucks getting old. Well, here's the thing.
- 32:46Speaker 5: I mean, Number one, none of those people are retiring
- 32:47Speaker 5: anytime soon. I can tell you Fred Persinger will retire
- 32:50Speaker 5: when they when the building is no longer here, he
- 32:53Speaker 5: will be the last one to go. But I can
- 32:56Speaker 5: also say this is changes not necessarily.
- 33:00Speaker 3: A bad thing.
- 33:01Speaker 5: No, it's and every now and then we're all gonna
- 33:03Speaker 5: you know, we're all going to be victims or we're
- 33:05Speaker 5: going to be the recipients of good change.

- 36:19Speaker 5: I do want to talk a little bit more about
- 36:20Speaker 5: this event.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Early New Year's morning in New Orleans where the.
- 36:23Speaker 5: Driver of a Ford pickup, an American by the way,
- 36:26Speaker 5: an American citizen, an Army veteran, intentionally drove into a
- 36:29Speaker 5: crowd on Bourbon Street around three am or so in
- 36:32Speaker 5: the morning, killing fifteen and wonted many others. Certainly a tragedy.
- 36:38Speaker 3: TJ. Overall your thoughts. If there were ever a reminder
- 36:43Speaker 3: that evil is real in this world, you needn't look
- 36:47Speaker 3: further than what happened yesterday. Fifteen dead, twenty five injured.
- 36:50Speaker 3: That's going to go up, according to the FBI from
- 36:53Speaker 3: what we hear in reports this morning, forty two year
- 36:56Speaker 3: old Texas born man who served in the Armed Forces
- 37:01Speaker 3: of the United States and Texas born didn't come here.
- 37:04Speaker 3: That's important. The initial reports about you know, this vehicle
- 37:08Speaker 3: coming across the border and all these kinds of things
- 37:10Speaker 3: not accurate. And the first place I saw that was
- 37:13Speaker 3: on X Yeah, not accurate, not accurate at all. You know,
- 37:18Speaker 3: the question becomes, how does this man become and doctrinated.
- 37:21Speaker 3: There's a piece in the Wall Street Journal this morning
- 37:23Speaker 3: talking about he'd had a rough go in his personal life,
- 37:26Speaker 3: successful in climbing the corporate ladder with Deloitte. He was
- 37:30Speaker 3: a consultant going through a divorce, faced financial difficulties as
- 37:34Speaker 3: a result of that, how does this person become radicalized?
- 37:38Speaker 3: And in my mind, aside from from the sorrow and
- 37:42Speaker 3: solemness of the day yesterday that we feel for the
- 37:44Speaker 3: victims and the families, the question becomes, how do we
- 37:49Speaker 3: put aside a lot of the petty bickering that we
- 37:52Speaker 3: have back and forth on a lot of the hot
- 37:54Speaker 3: topic political issues. We talked about the clickbait and come
- 37:57Speaker 3: to the realization of what we've always known, which is
- 38:00Speaker 3: freedom is under attack and always will be. There are
- 38:03Speaker 3: entities out there, terrorist groups, radical religious groups that are
- 38:08Speaker 3: intolerant of the American system and the freedom that we have.
- 38:11Speaker 3: There are nation states for that fact. I mean you
- 38:13Speaker 3: look for the China HACKEDUS last week with the Treasury Department.
- 38:15Speaker 3: I continue to rail on the fact that the Chinese
- 38:19Speaker 3: are not trustworthy. They are posturing, They're growing their military.
- 38:22Speaker 3: They're navy now outweighs ours in number account. It's approaching
- 38:25Speaker 3: tonnage count. Russia and North Korea are obviously incohoots against Ukraine.
- 38:30Speaker 3: I'm not saying that we should be spending all the
- 38:32Speaker 3: money that we do on Ukraine. But we have to
- 38:33Speaker 3: realize that these are nation states that are communists. And
- 38:36Speaker 3: you know, we thought communism died with the Cold War,
- 38:39Speaker 3: didn't It's live and well we got to get our
- 38:41Speaker 3: eye on the ball, Dave. And I think that's the
- 38:43Speaker 3: overarching story here, at least in my mind, is that
- 38:46Speaker 3: we need to refocus. You know, I grew up in
- 38:48Speaker 3: a time. I'm just a southern West Virginia Boom County boy,
- 38:52Speaker 3: but I grew up in one of the best places
- 38:54Speaker 3: in the world in my mind, and that was a
- 38:56Speaker 3: small community called community called Silvester, West Virginia that a
- 39:00Speaker 3: small town of about seven hundred and fifty people is
- 39:03Speaker 3: like a four blockdown. I had some phenomenal role examples
- 39:07Speaker 3: to grow up in one of those. Two of those families,
- 39:10Speaker 3: the Arvon Price family. You may have heard of, the
- 39:12Speaker 3: Arvonns in Boone County, extraordinarily patriotic, first generation Americans from Greece.
- 39:19Speaker 3: Georgie Price, who was a member of that family, married
- 39:21Speaker 3: into the Price family same way. She was my principal
- 39:24Speaker 3: from elementary school through junior high school. Drummed into us
- 39:28Speaker 3: what America was and how others and other countries did
- 39:33Speaker 3: not have freedom and really molded who I became and
- 39:38Speaker 3: taught us to appreciate the fact that freedom is not free.
- 39:40Speaker 3: There are prices, blood has been spilt, and we've become
- 39:44Speaker 3: so distance from that today. Much of our generation, in
- 39:47Speaker 3: our youth today don't understand that there are others in
- 39:50Speaker 3: the world that are intolerant of the freedoms that we
- 39:52Speaker 3: have here, and that freedom had to be transacted right,
- 39:56Speaker 3: it had to be earned, wasn't given to us. There's
- 39:58Speaker 3: people that don't want us to have it. And in
- 40:00Speaker 3: my mind, when I think about New Orleans, we've lost
- 40:03Speaker 3: that example. We've lost that teaching in our youth, and
- 40:07Speaker 3: we need to get it back. And we need to
- 40:08Speaker 3: realize that there are people, organizations, nation states, in this
- 40:13Speaker 3: world that very much wish us harm and in this
- 40:17Speaker 3: country and in this country that have become radicalized, and
- 40:20Speaker 3: how have they become radicalized in this country? And we
- 40:23Speaker 3: got to stop.
- 40:24Speaker 5: I agree with you everything you said, TJ, but we've
- 40:26Speaker 5: also got to get away from this again. Yesterday, I've
- 40:31Speaker 5: spent a lot of time, you know, watching delving into
- 40:33Speaker 5: this story.
- 40:34Speaker 3: Yesterday, watching the press conference.
- 40:35Speaker 5: By the way, I will say this about the press conference,
- 40:37Speaker 5: there were ever a primer on how to not conduct
- 40:41Speaker 5: a press conference of the folks in New Orleans hit
- 40:45Speaker 5: it out of the park on that on how not
- 40:46Speaker 5: to do it, because that was the biggest cluster, you
- 40:49Speaker 5: know what that I have ever seen. Compare and contrasts
- 40:52Speaker 5: that to the press conference that was held in Vegas
- 40:56Speaker 5: last night on that situation, and that guy I handled
- 40:58Speaker 5: it perfectly. It was embarrassing that press conference in New
- 41:02Speaker 5: Orleans just day from the officials Republican and Democrat. It
- 41:04Speaker 5: was an absolute embarrassment. But they got a lot of
- 41:09Speaker 5: questions to answer there in New Orleans.
- 41:11Speaker 3: And again you don't.
- 41:11Speaker 5: Want to look like your quote unquote victim shaming, but
- 41:13Speaker 5: they got a heck of a lot of questions to answer.
- 41:15Speaker 5: Ballerm well, I mean the police chief said, I swear it.
- 41:21Speaker 5: It reminded me of a scene of smoking and a
- 41:22Speaker 5: bandit because the teacher, the police chief said, well, we
- 41:26Speaker 5: had a burry pert up, but he went around. It
- 41:28Speaker 5: was that something that Junior would have said, the sun
- 41:30Speaker 5: in smoking a bandit when he said, Daddy, he wrecked
- 41:33Speaker 5: my police car.
- 41:34Speaker 3: You know what the heck is this all about.
- 41:36Speaker 5: But but but anyway, yesterday, as soon as it happened
- 41:39Speaker 5: that I woke up. I was not up at three
- 41:40Speaker 5: point fifteen, by the way, yesterday when I found out
- 41:42Speaker 5: about it, when I woke up like most people did.
- 41:44Speaker 5: And then you go to X and you go to
- 41:46Speaker 5: and this, well, this is what happens when it's Biden's America.
- 41:49Speaker 5: This is this is the open border that caused us.
- 41:52Speaker 5: And then it on the other hand, is well, this
- 41:54Speaker 5: is Trump, this is this is Trump's this is what
- 41:56Speaker 5: Trump because none of this ever happened before Biden and
- 41:59Speaker 5: Trump ever came a There was never a nine to eleven.
- 42:01Speaker 5: There was never the original bombing of the World Trade
- 42:05Speaker 5: Center in the early nineties. It was never a Timothy McVeigh.
- 42:07Speaker 5: None of this ever happened before Biden and Trump.
- 42:10Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, the border issue, you know, and I am
- 42:14Speaker 3: a fan of President Trump's economic policies. I'm on record
- 42:18Speaker 3: as saying that I also have problems with the way
- 42:22Speaker 3: the President conducts himself in many instances. And going to
- 42:25Speaker 3: truth Social yesterday and talking about this is what happens
- 42:28Speaker 3: when you don't secure the border. From a guy who's
- 42:30Speaker 3: from America, from a guy who's from America, you know,
- 42:33Speaker 3: I think that's a stretch and it's a stretch. I'm
- 42:36Speaker 3: trying to be diplomatic here. It's just it's not accurate.
- 42:40Speaker 3: I mean, you're right, and it doesn't help the situation
- 42:43Speaker 3: and conflating those two issues. Now, do I think the
- 42:46Speaker 3: border should be locked up secure? Nobody? Absolutely, I do.
- 42:51Speaker 3: But to say what happened yesterday as a result of
- 42:54Speaker 3: something with the border, I just don't make that connection. Now.
- 42:58Speaker 3: If months from now there's some kind of radical lized
- 43:02Speaker 3: group that was able to come into the country and
- 43:04Speaker 3: indoctrinate this guy one to one and they slipped through
- 43:06Speaker 3: the border, we'll have a conversation about that. I don't
- 43:09Speaker 3: see that yet. There there's been no evidence that that
- 43:12Speaker 3: that's what happened.
- 43:12Speaker 8: Now.
- 43:13Speaker 3: I do others know more than I do, absolutely, But
- 43:16Speaker 3: I'm just not seeing the connection on the two. And
- 43:19Speaker 3: maybe the evidence will point me to that. But I'm
- 43:21Speaker 3: one to tend to wait till the facts are in
- 43:23Speaker 3: and then I'll make a conclusion. But that's me.
- 43:25Speaker 5: Let me see Texas, the terrorist New Orleans was just
- 43:27Speaker 5: taking care of the enemy within. Stop lecturing me about
- 43:30Speaker 5: Freeingo being under attack. Until you clean up fascism and
- 43:33Speaker 5: the GOP. That's the BS I'm talking about right there.
- 43:36Speaker 5: That's it right there.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Okay.
- 43:39Speaker 5: Uh, the enemy within the enemy of the within were
- 43:42Speaker 5: people that were out celebrating the new year coming in.
- 43:46Speaker 3: That's that's what this.
- 43:48Speaker 5: Texter thinks is that we were that we were going

- 46:47Speaker 5: TECH says outgoing Center president Craig Blair will be on
- 46:50Speaker 5: Hoppy today as well. That wasn't on the original email
- 46:52Speaker 5: that I got. I have not checked it since I
- 46:54Speaker 5: got in here, but apparently Craig Blair is going to
- 46:57Speaker 5: be on the show today as well. Tech says, prepare
- 47:00Speaker 5: carrying two hours of programming every day plus a daily
- 47:02Speaker 5: commentary is more than a full time job. I tip
- 47:04Speaker 5: my hat to Hoppies workload. Tex says breakdown to the
- 47:08Speaker 5: family and a rejection of godly morality directly results in
- 47:11Speaker 5: violent attacks like the one in New Orleans.
- 47:13Speaker 3: It's just a fact.
- 47:14Speaker 5: Most people don't want to admit it because they hail
- 47:16Speaker 5: from broken families themselves, and they don't pay attention to God.
- 47:20Speaker 3: Says a texture. I gotta tell you, I think the
- 47:22Speaker 3: breakdown of the family in America and a lot of
- 47:25Speaker 3: that strength does If you're like me and you're a
- 47:28Speaker 3: follower of Jesus Christ. It does frame your thinking, and
- 47:31Speaker 3: it does frame your family situation. And I'm not going
- 47:34Speaker 3: to tell somebody, you know, what religion they should subscribe to.
- 47:37Speaker 3: But yeah, the American family to say that it's not
- 47:41Speaker 3: broken down, I mean absolutely text or spot.
- 47:43Speaker 5: On it, and I agree with that. But as somebody
- 47:45Speaker 5: who comes from a broken home, I can also tell
- 47:47Speaker 5: you family doesn't necessarily have to be mom and dad,
- 47:50Speaker 5: two kids. No, that's it's somebody who is accountable to
- 47:52Speaker 5: kick you in the backside when you don't do what
- 47:55Speaker 5: you're supposed to do. A accountability at home, a solid
- 47:59Speaker 5: family unit and home of some sort whatever, That would
- 48:02Speaker 5: be my opinion.
- 48:03Speaker 3: No, I agree, Texas.
- 48:04Speaker 5: My issue is with the coverage of WVU. Will have
- 48:07Speaker 5: a Marshall slant like the show is, and Wilson is
- 48:10Speaker 5: a big Marshall fan like Allan is. Also, well, I
- 48:13Speaker 5: went to Marshall, but I'm also a WVU fan and
- 48:16Speaker 5: you TJ went to both?
- 48:17Speaker 3: Right, didn't you go to both? I did not. I'm
- 48:19Speaker 3: a WV alum. I thought I thought you did.
- 48:21Speaker 5: Work at Marshall at some point. Okay, well, there's still
- 48:25Speaker 5: time to correct.
- 48:26Speaker 3: That with them. Kaddy I'm kiddy, and I'm kiddy. I
- 48:29Speaker 3: have nothing now. My wife teaches at Marshall. Maybe that's
- 48:31Speaker 3: what you're thinking about. Look, I'm a fan of both institutions,
- 48:35Speaker 3: and I root for both institutions. But if WVU is
- 48:38Speaker 3: playing Marshall in Tittley Wings Go Mountaineers, there you go.
- 48:41Speaker 5: With, then that's the way you should be. Yeah, Texas,
- 48:44Speaker 5: we are free, but at what cost? And who is
- 48:45Speaker 5: footing the bill? Really says a texture Texas says TJ.
- 48:50Speaker 5: Don't start drumming up the Cold War red scare nine
- 48:52Speaker 5: to eleven terrorism rhetoric. It's twenty twenty five. Freedom is
- 48:55Speaker 5: not under attack. Our military men and women have bore
- 48:57Speaker 5: the brunt of our political ineptitude of our for decades.
- 49:00Speaker 5: Dems and Republicans, their inability to work together for all
- 49:03Speaker 5: Americans is to blame. What's worse, radicalization of a handful
- 49:07Speaker 5: of our military men and women, or dozens dying each
- 49:10Speaker 5: day at their own hand due to physical, mental and emotional.
- 49:12Speaker 3: Disorders due to their service. You're telling me that red
- 49:15Speaker 3: China that continually manipulates its currency takes on you know,
- 49:20Speaker 3: I wouldn't say warlike, but shady economic variables all the
- 49:24Speaker 3: time to devalue their currency to make their goods and
- 49:27Speaker 3: services cheaper than ours. You're telling me that a build
- 49:31Speaker 3: up of nuclear weapons in China that's documented. You're telling
- 49:34Speaker 3: me that a build up of the navy in China
- 49:36Speaker 3: that's documented. You're telling me their documented stance towards Taiwan
- 49:41Speaker 3: is not something we should be concerned about, and that
- 49:43Speaker 3: communist China is our friend.
- 49:45Speaker 5: Okay, But Dave Allen showing five adieline brought to you
- 49:48Speaker 5: apart by your hometown baseball chief, the Charleston dirty Birds.
- 49:50Speaker 5: Maybe one in time now, but before you know it
- 49:51Speaker 5: will be playing baseball again at gomart Ballpark. Check the
- 49:54Speaker 5: twenty twenty five Dirty Birds schedule, plus Birds merchandise more
- 49:57Speaker 5: at dirty Birds Baseball dot com. Tex says the New
- 50:00Speaker 5: Orleans of it may prove it was an enemy from within,
- 50:04Speaker 5: but we have been attacked plenty in the last four
- 50:06Speaker 5: years from thugs coming across the open border illegally, says
- 50:10Speaker 5: a Texter. I'm not not arguing with that, texture, says TJ.
- 50:14Speaker 5: And Dave Wilson will have a heavy load replacing Hoppy.
- 50:16Speaker 5: They need to be very confrontational with the gasos. Hoppy
- 50:19Speaker 5: has always done asking the hard questions of getting answer
- 50:23Speaker 5: from the citizens of West Virginia. Thanks Dave, Texas.
- 50:26Speaker 3: Freedom is not permission to do whatever we want.
- 50:28Speaker 5: It's the power to do what we ought. We use
- 50:33Speaker 5: the word ought enough in that sense. I don't I
- 50:37Speaker 5: think you have to use it with the bridge, Texas.
- 50:38Speaker 5: I heard yesterday I was watching something. They were talking
- 50:41Speaker 5: about the early two thousands as the aughts.
- 50:43Speaker 3: The odds. That's why I've heard that. That's what we're called.
- 50:45Speaker 5: Tex says the guy who ran over those people did
- 50:47Speaker 5: it for Allah, who's the same God of Christianity, and
- 50:49Speaker 5: Judae is Judas. Religious nut jobs of any religion are
- 50:53Speaker 5: the problem. They can't live and let live. I put
- 50:57Speaker 5: it on the t for you on that one, TJ.
- 51:00Speaker 3: Y's a radical ge hottist And this may ruffle feathers
- 51:04Speaker 3: if you talk about controversy. Look, radical Islam is not
- 51:07Speaker 3: the same as Islam that's coming from again, a follower
- 51:09Speaker 3: of Jesus Christ.
- 51:11Speaker 5: Any more than Westboro Baptist is a follower of christianitay.
- 51:14Speaker 3: Bingo, and are they radicalized? Was this guy's the hottest? Absolutely? Okay,
- 51:21Speaker 3: already read that one? All right? Well, TJ. I'll tell you,
- 51:23Speaker 3: it's been fun having you. Hold on, hold on.
- 51:25Speaker 5: I got conservatives like military members when they're fighting a
- 51:28Speaker 5: dying for America, they don't like having to support their
- 51:30Speaker 5: mental and physical health care needs. I agree with that,
- 51:33Speaker 5: I agree completely, and I will say Conservatives, I'll I'll
- 51:36Speaker 5: say the country wants to forget about them once they're
- 51:38Speaker 5: done with them. That happens more often than you would think,
- 51:41Speaker 5: speaking to someone whose father died because of its service
- 51:44Speaker 5: in Vietnam.
- 51:44Speaker 3: The fact that there is one homeless veteran in this country,
- 51:47Speaker 3: and there are many, is a testament to how poorly
- 51:52Speaker 3: we have let those who serve this country.
- 51:53Speaker 5: Now, TJ, it's been fun. This will be the last
- 51:55Speaker 5: time I'll have you on. I guess before you take
- 51:57Speaker 5: over the big chair on Monday. Well, maybe you'll have
- 51:59Speaker 5: me back. Maybe, maybe maybe you'll have me on your show. Absolutely,
- 52:04Speaker 5: is it gonna be TJ and Dave or David TJ.
- 52:06Speaker 5: Inquiring minds want to know it's Daven TJ. Okay, David TJ.
- 52:10Speaker 5: I'm nothing if not humble. I think it sounds bad.
- 52:13Speaker 5: It's a Metro news talk line, is what it is.
- 52:16Speaker 5: Created by Hobby Kerchie. All Right, you get t shirts
- 52:18Speaker 5: with that at all?
- 52:19Speaker 3: Right, I gotta go.
- 52:20Speaker 5: Coming up on the show tomorrow, Hannah Gardner from the
- 52:21Speaker 5: Charleston new Man Association. State Senator Mike Stewart will be
- 52:24Speaker 5: on the show as well. Hoppy is coming up final
- 52:26Speaker 5: two days a talk line. First, We're coming up at
- 52:28Speaker 5: ten oh six this morning, my producer Ryan Nicholson. Download

- 52:34Speaker 3: Till then, have fun and love.
- 52:35Speaker 14: Somebody finds a ninety six point five Charleston at one
- 52:53Speaker 14: O four point five Cross Lanes, w u v RC
